#Golly!#this is a shorter update but I wanted it to be that way. We've been in the house for a while. It's time to change some scenery!!#Chara using their game narrator voice like “golly!” and “amazing!”#Eimmet high :)) i was really hoping to be able to reference Temmie Chang here. An integral part of UT/DR!! She's awesome!#WE ARE OFFICIALLY ON Day 2 BABY #yes- there is still a little everyman easter egg as well as some other things... ;)#I tried so many new and different things for these panels. I was a little nervous implementing them. But im having a lot of fun with it!#i try to put my own artistic enjoyment above all other things :) its what I strive for.#Angle's landing day! excited for the festivities!#Chara is feeling stabby :)#loved detailing Chara's hand in the last page. When I detail the hands- just know shits getting real #I'm really happy with how I was able to redraw Toriel here. She showed up in the second part and that was it for 2 years -w-#so even if she's not a major character- I wanted to give her some good screen time <3 #I did not make the Darkworld “Mayor” just for that one joke....but dang did it fit perfectly.#these 4 pages took longer than I wanted. You know what? There are so many reasons I love a demiromantic/demisexual Q. So many reasons why that characterization detail works for me and resonates with me personally.

But also? I am kinda just in it for Q falling in love for the first time when he's in his 30s.

I'm kinda in it for Q having a crush on someone/being horny for someone for the FIRST TIME at the ripe old age of 32, after a lifetime BLISSFULLY free of such nonsense.

He got through his ENTIRE education, including MULTIPLE graduate degrees without even a STIRRING of attraction to anybody. He progressed rapidly in his career because he was not DISTRACTED by such things!

And now? The indignity?? The mortifying ordeal of falling in love??? The humiliation of finding himself HORNY for a fellow human being???

I just like to think about Q contently shaping his life around his work and his cats, never feeling sexual or romantic attraction or WANTING to feel it, comfortably single and content to remain so.

And then Bond enters his life like a wrecking ball.

And six months into their friendship, Q is placidly sipping his cup of tea one morning, thinking about Bond.

And suddenly he freezes and goes, Oh no.

#og #this one is inspired by zepyuri nman song. there are many iterations of it but the one by ladaniva is my favourite...#go listen to it #the painting is quite simple but 1. i kinda wanted to keep it that way and 2. i'm a lazy artist...i can't spend more than 3 days on art #i may revisit it later. just really wanted to finish it before the year ends lol #oh some more infodumping! in the second verse there are lines:#i'll become Spring and come to your garden / like a nightingale i'll cling to your rose #i thought 'huh. what an interesting metaphor' and went researching #figures! the motive of a nightingale being in love with a rose is a widespread one in classical iranian literature #at that moment i'd decided to go with iranian-armenian adjacent style of clothing. it's all so pretty #i love the veiling. i love the colors. the patterns. the cut and fit of the costume too.#i was mostly referencing 1 black and white drawing so i couldn't see many details unfortunately #it was from 'armenian national costumes' book by Arakel Patrick #p. 85 table 6 pic. 2 and 3 - rug weavers from charmahal region of isfahan #for anyone's interested in looking it up lol #+ some other references #also if i don't use orange and blue color combo at least once a year i will literally die #ok. infodumping is over #q

wanted to work on all my personal stuff today but the super chef of the company i work for is sick and one of my coworkers wants me to draw a picture to gift to him and its gotta be done until tuesday ... i haven worked with watercolors in a decade and it SHOWS, spent 5 hours trying to get even just a test done and it looks like babies first watercolor adventure
