Pairing: Platonic - Rivalry -> Sharing (In Ending 3)

Possible Trigger Warnings: Female Darling, Obsession, Manipulation, Overprotective behavior, Jealousy, Blood, Violence, Kidnapping, Isolation, Stalking, Murder, Forced companionship(s).

These two have always been rather similar to each other.

Unfortunately they can never seem to agree on something.

They've been rivals since they were put on Team 7.

When it comes to how you fit in the story... I can think of two ideas.

You're either in Team 7 alongside Sakura...

Or you take her role in this concept.

Either way... Their rivalry would start childish.

You knew the two when you were all young and on Team 7.

Naruto has always been loud and a lot to handle... while Sasuke has been quieter yet more brooding.

The two both have had lonely childhoods and do need companionship.

Naruto admits he wants people to like him.

Sasuke doesn't, more focused on being an avenger than anything...

Yet he finds himself enjoying your companionship.

Naruto has always been competitive.

He acts in such a way to try and impress you, to show you how capable he is.

Sasuke isn't interested in these challenges at first.

Sasuke just cares about getting stronger, not fighting Naruto to impress some girl.

That is until after a training session you complimented him... while he tried to ignore how it made him feel...

He found it pleasing to hear from you... and hated it when you gave that same praise to Naruto.

Their rivalry is originally based on power.

They both want to get stronger to achieve their goals.

Yet it progresses into getting the attention of their dear friend and teammate.

They aren't romantically interested... Sakura ends up dealing with more of that.

It's more like they both like impressing you and want you to pick a favorite.

It's petty and childish before the second half of the show.

Just two kids trying to impress a friend they've both grown fond of.

Naruto is the one who's more obvious with it.

He pushes himself to show you techniques he learned and practically goes feral if you're injured in a mission.

Sasuke is more laid back.

He likes your attention and hates Naruto trying to take it, but he doesn't go out of his way to impress you.

He has other things to worry about than impressing girls.

Despite that he still keeps an eye on you and protects you, often scolding Naruto if he didn't protect you.

Again, all childish competition between two rivals who happen to enjoy the same person.

It's when Sasuke leaves Konoha and becomes pretty much a threat to everyone that the rivalry shifts.

It's no longer about impressing you.

The two are much older now with very different ideals.

Naruto is still mostly the same as he was... but Sasuke is a threat.

You rarely see Sasuke, mostly being around Naruto to help him with his own goals.

Naruto is obsessed with getting Sasuke back... yet at the same time feels a bit proud that you stayed with him as his friend.

However... Sasuke never gave up on you.

Sasuke is indeed obsessed with power and gave up camaraderie for it.

Yet there's times Sasuke manages to find you during his missions, looking all happy that you stayed with Naruto...

That you stayed with Konoha...

Sasuke feels envious and part of him doesn't like the idea of Naruto winning.

There's many times you and Sasuke meet.

It's not that surprising to assume he's following you.

Even in his search for power and vengeance... Sasuke only cares for a select few people.

You're on the top of his list.

Whenever he corners you on missions, it's never just to check in.

Sasuke keeps testing your strength... but at the same time he just wants to see you.

Naruto eventually breaks up the fighting to try and convince Sasuke to come back home.

Yet Sasuke lashes out, claiming Naruto is a fool to continue that goal...

Sasuke is also pissed he can never convince you to come with him.

Sasuke hates to admit it, but he misses the times he had with you in Team 7.

While he doesn't miss Sakura fawning over him... He misses how you'd help him train and support him without trying to get anything out of it.

Then he's reminded of the fact you did the same thing with Naruto...

He hates that.

It isn't long until this rivalry becomes a game of tug-o-war.

Sasuke eventually realizes to keep you to himself... to get you on his side... he'll need to kidnap you.

Naruto no doubt catches onto this quickly and rarely leaves your side, determined to not lose you too.

This rivalry can be deadly considering how the show goes on.

Both of these characters are powerhouses.

Sasuke is definitely going to aim to kill Naruto, even if he struggles to bring himself to do it.

Sasuke needs you to come with him... He needs you by his side.

You're his friend, aren't you?

Sure, Sasuke's pushed you away...

But he'll show you he's stronger than Naruto.

Naruto, on the other hand, is growing progressively more worried about his friends.

He knows Sasuke is upset that you didn't want to leave Konoha.

Naruto tries to keep you away, knowing Sasuke could easily hurt you if you fight him.

Naruto doesn't want to hurt Sasuke too much...

Yet Naruto also cares about you.

He cares about you more than anything at times.

If it ever comes to it and he can't get Sasuke to join him...

He might have to kill him....

Sasuke comes to try and take you with him, claiming Konoha isn't good enough for you.

Sasuke is willing to pry you from Naruto's arms, even if it means killing him.

Neither party wants to kill the other, but...

A decision needs to be made.

Naruto refuses to have Sasuke kidnap you.

He's tried... multiple times.

Naruto doubts Sasuke cares for your safety.

He just cares for nostalgia... or even just wants to own you.

There was always going to be a final confrontation between the two.

It's just in this case... you're also their goal.

It's very likely one of them will die, leaving the world in its own form of chaos.

If Naruto dies, Sasuke gets to steal you away, probably then demolishing the village or taking over.

If Sasuke dies, you'll be safe but Naruto would have failed his other friend...

The best outcome would be the one similar to canon, where they don't kill one another and probably even learn to share the friend they adore so much.

There aren't many good outcomes in this rivalry.

If one of them wins you'll probably be isolated... even if they shared, would you have freedom?

Naruto already barely leaves your side... and Sasuke has been adamant on bending you to his will to stay by him.

You try to calculate the best outcome...

Yet as their final confrontation goes on... and you witness their fight grow more bloody as time passes...

You can't tell what outcome would be the best for you.

These aren't really your friends anymore, are they?

They're selfish beings now, willing to do anything to get what they want.

You can only hope that by the end of the bloodshed... you'll have both of your friends in the end...

Yet as it goes on it gets harder and hard to tell.

Ending 1 - Naruto

This is one of the outcomes of this rivalry.

You and Naruto have been companions since Sasuke left Konoha.

Naruto didn't want to harm Sasuke too badly.

Let alone kill him.

Yet Sasuke made his choice clear.

He was going to find a way to get rid of Naruto then take you.

Naruto, unable to cope with the thought of you being hurt... snaps.

Naruto, due to the beast inside him, tends to give into his rage.

When he sees Sasuke run over to you and grab you...

He finds himself seeing red.

Suddenly, it doesn't matter what happens...

All that matters is you're safe.

Naruto wakes up with blood covering his clothes and you cradled in his arms.

According to others he defeated Sasuke.

He... killed him, actually.

Naruto is meant to be a hero... Hokage, even.

Yet he can't believe he did that.

His rival, his friend... Gone.

By his hands.

The news disturbs him greatly.

Yet when he sees you in his arms... safe in Konoha and under his protection...

He finds himself slightly soothed.

Sasuke was going to hurt you.

Naruto was just... protecting you.

Since then you're locked to Naruto's side.

He wants you as a companion, an assistant, just near him.

He hates talking about Sasuke, telling you and others not to bring him up at times.

He knows he was doing the right thing to protect you.

Yet now he worries about how easy it is to lose you...

He worries he'll hurt you too.

Despite this, Naruto doesn't allow you to leave Konoha.

He's won the battle... and the war... Now it's his job to keep his dearest friend safe.

He may even ask Sakura to help, the girl already finding issues with Naruto's thinking.

In theory, this should be a happy ending...

Yet it doesn't feel like one... Not with Naruto filled with grief...

Not with you still without freedom.

Ending 2 - Sasuke

Another outcome is Sasuke winning the battle and rivalry.

Sasuke originally didn't want to kill Naruto.

He tried to play nice, to bargain with his old friend.

If he just handed you over... Sasuke could limit the damage done.

Yet Naruto is stubborn as ever... protecting you like you're some weak girl.

Sasuke knows you're strong.

That's why he's been hunting you.

If Naruto won't give you over... Sasuke accepts that...

Then gets to work.

It takes time due to the beast that resides in Naruto.

Yet eventually Sasuke emerges victorious, not reacting to the blood on his clothes.

It... was going to happen eventually, wasn't it?

The two were going to fight and kill one another....

After the battle Sasuke snatches you, taking note of your struggling.

You try to fight him, to take advantage of Sasuke's weakened state...

Yet Sasuke manages to get you under control, telling you he's doing what's best for you.

Your talent was wasted at Naruto's side... He plans to train you.

Sasuke thinks this is where you belong... beside him.

After this it would not surprise me if you witnessed Sasuke destroy Konoha, telling you this is for the best.

After all, they're all liars.

It's either that or he tries to make himself Hokage, keeping you by his side to see that plan through.

You can fight him... but again, you'll only tire yourself out.

Sasuke won't hurt... yet he'll hurt others around you.

He plans to isolate you, envious others got to have you for so long.

He's much worse than Naruto.

There's times he experiences grief... yet he's quiet about it.

He's done it, he's won, he has you all to himself now.

He's happy about that... He just wishes Naruto would have listened to him.

You're locked away in a room for just Sasuke to see, he's tired of sharing.

This is yet another bad outcome...

One that not only locks you away... but makes you watch the death of those you care for... just so you can 'understand' Sasuke better.

Ending 3 - Sharing

This is the best outcome... yet still bad for you.

In this ending the outcome resembles canon.

Naruto and Sasuke come to a draw and stop fighting.

The two decide to both share you.

There's no point in fighting over their friend... They both want the same thing for you.

They want to protect you, they want your attention, and they want to help make you stronger.

When their injuries are treated and they're cleaned of blood... The two vow to look after you.

Naruto looks after you as Hokage and Sasuke watches over you from the shadows.

This is a more tame ending, one that's overall happier.

The two both care for you as they're best friends.

Naruto even gives you a job in Konoha, preferably one where he and Sasuke can watch you.

Sasuke often checks in, apologizing and telling you he's maturing.

Naruto likes to hang out with both of you along with Sakura.

Yet there's always that subtle sense of... isolation....

The two still control who you talk to and want your attention exclusively on them.

Konoha is your home... You belong to them.

If you ever want to leave, one of them will stop you.

Ninjas are known to be stealthy.

You're always being watched by someone.

Now that the rivalry has ended... The two are on the same page.

Neither of them die...

Yet your freedom is still restricted like the previous outcomes... and now you just have two problems...

i always like the idea of robots having their own personalities in sci fi, and while i'm sure that's significantly impacted how a lot of people think of AI, i also think that robots make very interesting characters, especially robots who are more rebellious or independent. i could go on about how neat it is that a lot of sci fi concepts got named before they came to be in real life (like robots and AI) and how fiction and culture can impact our perception of new technologies, but i'm sure no one wants to hear my under researched literary analysis, so instead here is a goofy looking structure:

it seems to me pretty obvious that Tempest Within A Brain and Javert Derailed are mirrors of each other. One thing we notice about Valjean that may consist a flaw is that he's too introspective

Javert does not know what happens inside of a home. Rather tragically I may add, because he never really had a "proper" one.

In Déraillé he is forced to look inwards and see he has a soul and a heart and is capable of kindness and of love and isn't just a pure representative of real world mundane law. He isn't made of stone no matter how much he may want to.

There is no possible answer that leads to universal good. I was thinking about buck and the concept of home and his different romantic relationships with it cause i realized with buck asking tmmy to live together they established a patern that was already there of course but well, this being the last one and having this patern aswell, it settles it in my mind. We know it was there with abby obviously he moved into her house, then with ali she helped him look for the loft and was supposed to stay there when she was in the city, then taylor where they try to move in together then well everything we know that follows, the couch of it all etc and then natalia where nothing is talked about it in that sense but well him saying lets pick a couch together was pretty much also an implication. Im sorry if you talked about this before but yes i was thinking about this because FICS lol and the connection eddie already has through all of bucks relationships ("this is eddies house im not really a guest") and the potential it could have in the future if they decide to make a direct parallel to abby. Hi darling. I don't think I talked about this all that recently, and if I did I mostly talked about it in the sense that the loft is a symbol of Buck's failed relationships and that I would like it if Buck made the choice to move on his own the last time someone was talking about the loft burning down lol. But yeah, Buck asking Tommy to move in solidified the way Buck jumps because he's scared. It's not something discussed, it's a reaction to something else, I guess with Ali not that much but he did get the place with her in mind and I would assume she decorated it too, that being her job and all. But asking Taylor to move in to trap her with him, asking Tommy to move in because he's insecure, even the couch with Natalia probably would've been explored a bit further if she had stuck around (I will never let go of the conspiracy theory that the Marisol moving in plot was a bucktalia plot they repurposed). The Abby of it all is interesting because he "accidentally" moves in, he is helping her with her mom's death and ends up lingering, so it isn't a conscious choice, it was Buck being all in. And it's interesting that his reaction to feeling insecure in his relationships is that all in movement, because it didn't work before, but he still acts as if making things that serious will make them love.

I am extremely curious about the loft when talking about Buck from now on. Because with the loft being the place Buck's relationships begin and end, the symbolism in the way Ali showed she couldn't handle who he is in there, and Taylor and Tommy kissing him and the respective breakup also happening there, Natalia leaving the dinner date. The choice is not really Buck's. And they use the loft in a very purposeful way on a meta level, even tho there are no walls, there is an obvious divide in the spaces, like the way kitchen, I would say the sides and back of the counter is the space he's comfortable, and it's a space for family, we only see Maddie, Chris, Jee, Eddie, and I think Hen in that space, and the times we see Taylor in it the scene goes south real quick, like when Buck decides she's breaking up with him in 509 and when he tells her about the cheating in 513. The dining room, I would assign the front of the counter and the space with the table, has a lot of more emotionally charged moments but it's a less serious space, it's where Buck keeps most people. The space under the loft is made "for guests" by his mother and it really isn't a space we see Buck a lot in while in a casual mood. The stairs are for uncomfortable truths, like 316 when he's talking about being left behind or when he's waiting for Taylor for the breakup in 518. I'm getting side tracked lol, but the way we now have 3 breakups happening in there is making me eye it. Because the loft is not home, we don't interpret the loft as home. Even going back to 218 when he gets it and the joke Ali makes that he's a "perpetual roommate even in his own place".

And on the other side, we have Eddie's house, "this is Eddie's house, I'm not really a guest", a very interesting line considering at that point we hadn't seen Buck in the house alone, the hangouts we witness are all in the loft, I'm pretty sure the first time we see Buck in the house alone with Eddie and Chris is 403, because 310 has Hen and Denny and 311 is a party, but Buck has a key to the house, we see him in the house when Eddie isn't there, 612 makes a point of showing Buck uncomfortable in his own house just to fall asleep at Eddie's in seconds. He panics and shows up at Eddie's door. So if the speculation is right and Buck ends up at the house after Eddie leaves for Texas it could have some fun connotations for what it means for Buck. Because we did lowkey establish that Buck forces connection by moving in together because "why be apart when they could be together" as if the constant presence is gonna make him feel better, will make the house feel more like home. So what would it mean for him to end up at Eddie's if Eddie isn't there? Would that lead him to the realization that home isn't the house, it is Eddie and Chris and he doesn't need to force that connection? Would it add up to the way he clung to Abby's place because he liked the way she made him feel even though she left him and the house wasn't that anymore? And will that lead to a revelation when Eddie comes back because Abby never did? I don't know if this makes a lot of sense, but let's just say that they used Tommy to solidify most of Buck's bad habits, and one of those is the loft of it all, so something about Buck choosing to leave because he hates that Eddie isn't around anymore and he wants to find him somewhere makes sense to me.

Obviously, there's also the chance of Eddie showing up to the loft and helping change the meaning of it too, but I just have a feeling the houses and the definition of home will play a part in whatever is unfolding.

I can only suggest that Wilson created "Yellow ink", and inside Keeper are not "Golden ink". Otherwise the Golden ink would have provided a link to Demon power, and metal octopus would have been against Wilson sooner or later.

...I personally think that it is easier to get the lost one's soul with the help of saws, and then start changing the soul in order to place it inside something. Like make a "soul semblance" - "Yellow ink" as I called it; get fairly similar minds, which is ideal for Keeper.

It's interesting things...Let's back to the thought that it can be a human. How much it will affect the story? Well-

And there is a temporary antidote to ink in the form of the chemical "iron oxide", which also resembles blood ("The Lost Ones");

It seems that through chemistry and past research, Wilson was able to create colored ink, a way to get back to the real world, and in collaboration with Alice, who lives in half of his house, and with Ink Machine, he was already beginning to think about creating a Keeper. About getting "the first good soul"...Pick out the right clothes, became anyone from Arch Gate Pictures, not just a humble cleaner. But after understood the difficulties (let's say, with blood) and maybe managed to update the methods for creating ink creatures...And my theory "Yellow ink" from Lost Ones.

Due to the details, a human being in the creature is doesn't't look like something unexpected, but it would definitely be intriguing.

Role #2 - If he's able to talk, new information about the corporation. Maybe even about Alan Gray. Maybe gives some hints of how getting away from the Cage idk just a thought-

Anne of the Island Book Club: Chapter XXV, Enter Prince Charming

I’m finally caught up!

I love Aunt Jimsie’s distinction between her legs and her soul. So real.

I know the fandom loves identifying quotes, so when Anne says “Nobody axed me, sir, she said,” that quote is from a Mother Goose rhyme, “Where Are You Going, My Pretty Maid?”, also quoted in “By the Shores of Silver Lake” by Laura Ingalls Wilder, which I just so happened to be rereading last fall.

I love all the different moods November has in the Anne series. I think Montgomery has a different paragraph describing it in every book.

I am very glad that Jonas has a sense of humor. I think Phil has a shot at being happy with a minister who has a sense of humor, but if he was all prunes and prisms all the time she’d be miserable.

And finally, Roy. He’s smooth—too smooth. If I hadn’t read the book before I’d expect him to turn out to be an utter sleazebag. As it is, he’s just too perfect. Does Anne really think he “could be wicked if he wanted to”? I’d think it more likely of Gilbert.

I am, like many of y’all, now reading “The Redmond Diaries”, and I love the writer’s concept that Anne unconsciously based Maurice Lennox on Gilbert. We don’t really know anything about him in canon other than that he’s the bad guy—but we do know that Perceval is too perfect, and Roy, naturally, is the same. I’m going to borrow from Anne’s later description of Fred and say that he’s “hopelessly good”. Of course, none of this is news to anyone—that is the very point of Roy. I just think it’s interesting how much Anne projects personality onto him to match his looks, when in fact the personality she’s looking for is really much closer to home.

(Although I’m annoying myself in writing it. I do ship Anne and Gilbert, but I simultaneously find all the in-universe people who ship them really annoying. In a final harken back to “Averil’s Atonement”, if people were always doing that to me, I’d pitch them—and the person they were trying to set me up with for good measure. Anne and I have many things in common, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to achieve her dignity.)

something I think about a lot is the fact that laios's leg did heal all the way post-reattachment after the initial battle with the red dragon. because yk Healing Magic Okay ❤️ Yay ❤️❤️

and maybe this is just me but I would've loved to see there maybe be more long-term complications from that? that'd definitely cause a LOT of problems with future combat in the series so I understand why that wasn't really explored but it would have been so interesting to me to see how you'd navigate a situation like that!! and you also so rarely see physically disabled characters in fantasy at all so that'd be really cool !!!

and ALSO leg reattachments while successful often enough do still come with long-term problems. impaired mobility being the most glaring one

like give him nerve pain at the Very Least. pins and needles, numbness on flare up days that can't really be explained because my leg is literally healed so What Is The Problem. sometimes it just gives out for no reason

it could work so well thematically, too, with that concept of coming back different. just applied from a completely different angle; instead of the chimera, it's carrying disability with you that you didn't have before. phantom pain from a removal that didn't ever stay removed. sitting with that and learning to live with what you've got now instead of running back repeatedly to what was. suffering the consequences of an injury that healing magic cannot work around because the injury does not exist anymore

What is Sanji's aim with his flirting? He specifically asks the women for dates. So does he want sex?🤔

Oh, so I truly think that Sanji is a bit of a hopeless romantic~

I think he loves the idea of relationships and romance and has this concept in his head of the ideal romance

We actually see a lot of evidence of this partly through his romantic gestures towards women (and honestly through his platonic ones as well), especially the women on the crew He picks flowers, makes them special foods and drinks, compliments them (I'm mostly talking about when he does it in a more genuine way, like when he just tells them that they're pretty), offers them a hand when appropriate, and offers up his coat multiple times I also think it's worth noting that when Sanji is swooning over Nami, most of the time he says something a long the lines of "Did you say you love me?" He never implies that she's physically attracted to him

I have a lot of opinions and thoughts on Sanji being seen as just "horny" or "pervy" and how it feels like it's more of a gag that's gotten out of hand then a real character trait that's meant to be taken seriously (If anyone wants to read about all that, here's were I go into depth about it) But I feel like there are a lot more defining character moments with Sanji in which we see him being genuinely sweet and chivalrous where his actions feel more romantically motivated than sexual He preforms small romantic gestures regularly, he gets caught up in Viola's dramatic telenovela style plea for help in Dressrosa, he genuinely falls for Pudding at first and even after he learns of her real plans, he is still willing to be very honest and kind to her (there are plenty of other instances, these are just some of the more dramatic ones that I can think of right now)

So yeah, while I do think that Sanji can sometimes suffer from Horny Boy Disease (I give him a bit of a break tho because when we first meet him he's still 19 and also that man has such Virgin™ energy it's not even funny), I mostly think that he's interested in a romantic relationship first and foremost (this is not to say that he has no interest in sex, just that I don't think that's really his top priority in a relationship) But I don't think that Sanji only flirts with women that he is interested in romantically or physically I think he uses flirting as a form of flattery and he really just likes being nice to women~

Ngl, I personally don’t get the El love at all? Usually with ROs you play through at least several chapters of content to get to know them better and then finally decide, yep, this one’s the one, this one’s interesting. But with El we spend too little time with for me to get attached to them at all, they’re just this vague concept with barely any personality? Half of their screen time being an optional intimate scene also doesn’t help flesh them out, (because of how generic nsfw scenes are at their core, they are only ever gratifying when you know the character really well) the first time I reached it my reaction was “ok, but why would I want my mc to get intimate with this rando, I as a player have literally *just* met them”.

BTW, I can’t be the first one to say all of the above, right? Because I keep seeing anons bashing the actual ROs for this barely defined character and I go: “really??” (Btw, I know El would have been amazing had they equal amounts of content as other ROs)

I think it's fair for people to like or dislike any characters in LAD no matter how much screentime they got or not. It's about flavour, like, you don't like caramel so you take vanilla, but this other dude take chocolate because they can't stand caramel and vanilla. And there's those who like all flavours even if they tasted them just once for a few seconds. You know what I mean?

And about people bashing actual ROs... where? I don't remember people bashing ROs. Or maybe you're talking about L? I think L is a hit or miss person, tbh. They're a sweetheart for me, but I'm pretty biased, so.... And they're pretty nosy and persistent when they want to, so I understand it can rub people the wrong way.

Protocol thoughts I have before s2 starts because I have a lot of them and I want to see what gets answered/what I’m right and wrong about. These are all based on my notes from my relisten and on the alchemy research I did today. This post is long lol, sorry in advance.

Has a Bouchard worked for the OIAR before/did Gwen get her job because of it? This is entirely based on a line from ep1 where Gwen says “Oh, nepotism is it?” And Alice says “I learned from the best”. This could just be in reference to the Bouchard’s being rich and stuff, but this line has stuck with me.

What happened to the Response Department? I think it’s suspicious as hell that Response was closed down and not the OIAR. This also links into how do missfiles happen and who is rating the accuracy of the staff?

What’s the deal with Starkwall? I hope Gertrude is involved with them somehow. I just think it would be funny if she was involved in burning down the Institute.

A huge theme is balance. It shows up in a lot of episodes, which makes sense because alchemy. Not to go on a massive alchemy tangent since I did some research on it today, however the philosopher’s stone wasn’t just about immortality, it was about purifying the human body and soul. This is also referred to as the “Great work”, which is directly mentioned by who I’m going to assume in Jonah Magnus in ep 27. There are also a lot of body doubles and stuff like that, which I’m guessing is that concept of making a perfect human gone wrong. I mean, there is literally an episode where that woman is trying to make the idealised version of herself.

How did Celia find out about the OIAR?

Jon and Martin are clearly reaching out as much as they can. Jon gets name dropped as sending the email to Sam. The true question is why they’re encouraging the investigation into the Magnus Institute considering everything that happened lol. Also, who sent Gwen the documents? I’m thinking it’s Augustus? I have no evidence though, it’s just a hunch.

Will we see Klaus (the IT guy Lena failed to kill)?

What’s the deal with Gerry and Gertrude? Gertrude is suspicious as hell and clearly knows more than she’s telling. Also, she calls Gerry her grandson, which brings up the question what happened to Mary and Eric?

The Merchant guy from ep 4 might be relevant? The reason I say this is because in ep 4, he has some dice, and ep 9 is all about supernatural dice and considering how the violin acted I’m assuming they’re the same dice that he had.

Will the key come up again? I know Sam dropped it, but I do wonder if it will come up again.

I just need y’all to know every Bonzo episode I have variations of “oh fuck” written down because I hate Mr Bonzo so much.

The OIAR are there to help with “balancing” stuff out and I don’t know exactly what that means it’s definitely relevant.

All right, The Cobra is my Marvel WIP (technically WIP even though it's published, because it's unfinished and I haven't been able to find the time to continue it for quite a while). But it's a fic I want to finish someday, eventually, though I don't know when. It's a fic that's very dear to me. It was my first big writing project that I actually published for the world to see, so I love it a lot for that. Okay, buckle up for some lore. I told @koko-raccoon all about my OC, so here's everything I told them:

Her full given name is Lucille Dorothy Barnes, but she goes by Lucy for short, or Luce (She/Her pronouns!! She's a Cisgender Lady :3 Tbh, I like to headcanon her as the type to put Pronouns in her Bio once she gets to the present and has an actual phone and learns how to use Social Media). Anyway, she's Bucky's younger sister, and he's her oldest brother (yes, she has two older brothers and one younger brother. I gave her two additional brothers because according to canon lore, Bucky's supposed to be the oldest of four, even though nothing about his siblings is known in canon).

She and Bucky are 1000% the closest to each other in their family, they were each other's first best friends!! That's the power of sibling love. The two of them eventually meet Steve, and she becomes Steve's bestie as well at the same time that Bucky becomes Steve's bestie. The three of them kind of become a friendship trio, like The Three Musketeers. Oh yeah, and she's also Aro/Ace, but doesn't figure it out until later, because of how taboo being LGBTQ+ was back in the forties. Her being Cis and Aro/Ace is based off my best friend, who is also Cis and Aro/Ace, pffffft (and despite being Aro/Ace, she's one of the most loving people I know).

Anyway, Lucy never gets powers, but does support Steve while he gets the serum, and actually does manage to join the army with him. Even though she's a woman, she still gets in because let's just say that's how desperate they were, lmao. And they also tour together selling War Bonds as Captain America and The Cobra (which eventually becomes her actual superhero name). Then they both get trapped in the ice. I don't know how she survived, because she never got the serum. Let's just say she's built different--and somehow the ice protected her all of those years, I don't know. I don't think I thought about that enough when I wrote it.

Anyway, they wake up in 2012, join the Avengers, and craziness ensues. But the craziest part is reuniting with Bucky, who she thought died all the way back in the forties. She definitely took his presumed death the hardest, she grieved so much. She never really fully recovered from when she thought she lost him. She actually turned to drinking to make herself feel better, it was that bad (she previously never even touched alcohol). And she even cut her long, brown hair and dyed it; it eventually grows back and regains its old, natural color, but it was still a huge, rebellious move for her. She gets even more upset when she learns that Bucky was brainwashed, and he's barely even her brother anymore. But part of her that she thought would never heal heals when Bucky is eventually freed of his mind control and becomes a part of her life again. They definitely become each other's support system when Steve goes back to live out his life in the forties and dies, leaving the two of them (and Sam).

And she's reminded just how fun it is to spend time with her big brother again. She just missed him so much 😭 I like to think that she's also trapped in the town Wanda creates in WandaVision, and actually forgets everything, and Wanda tries to justify it by saying that now she gets to live the life she lost. Very sad stuff. I actually kind of used this fic as an excuse to write a character going through the grieving process, sort of?? It was definitely interesting.

Here's an excerpt of Lucy dealing with grief and turning to drinking as an unhealthy coping mechanism:

When they got back, she turned to drinking. Being drunk erased the pain. It numbed everything. It wasn’t a permanent solution, but it helped. She was old enough anyway. She and Steve sat in the remains of a building, listening to a broadcast.

“Blackout is still in effect throughout the London area. Please wait for the all-clear. Your attention, please. All citizens should remain indoors until further notice. Blackout is still in effect throughout the London Area.”

Peggy suddenly appeared in a trenchcoat. Steve cleared his throat and spoke, his voice sounding rather raspy, “Dr. Erskine said that the serum wouldn’t just affect my muscles, it would affect my cells. Create a protective system of regeneration and healing. Which means I can’t get drunk. Did you know that?”

“I can.” Lucy hiccuped, pouring herself another shot. “It helps with the pain. Physical and mental. Also, Steve, m’pretty sure your metabolism burns four times faster than the average person.”

She heard that her words sounded slightly slurred, but she couldn’t bring herself to care.

“I was just about to say that.” Peggy grabbed a chair and sat beside them. “He thought it could be one of the side effects. It wasn’t either of your faults.”

“Did you read the report?” Steve questioned, probably sounding harsher than intended.

“Yes.”

“Then you know that’s not true.”

She slammed her shot glass on the table, startling Peggy, “I was a coward.”

“You did everything you could,” Peggy assured them. “Did you believe in your friend and brother? Did you respect him? Then stop blaming yourselves. Allow Barnes the dignity of his choice. He damn well must’ve thought you were worth it. Both of you.”

“That’sss Bucky for you.” Lucy’s “s” was slightly drawn out. She laughed drunkenly and then hiccuped again.

“I’m going after Schmidt,” Steve decided. “I’m not gonna sleep until all of Hydra is dead or captured.”

“You won’t be alone.” 

Lucy never forgot those words of comfort.

Here's an excerpt of a small part of WandaVision that I wrote in advance because I got so excited to get to it:

Lucy started to grow angry herself for not being listened to, “What is outside of Westview, Wanda?”

“You know full well what’s out there,” Wanda snapped. “Lucy, I did this for you, too.”

“What?”

“Haven’t you noticed? You’ve gotten to live through all of the decades you never got to experience. You never had to be a hero,” Wanda explained.

Lucy’s hands curled into fists, “I thought you were my friend, Wanda. How could you do this? People here are suffering!”

“You don’t understand.” 

“I don’t understand?” Lucy hit the table with all her strength and started to shout, “I knew damn well what I was getting into when I got into that plane with Steve!”

“You don’t get to make a choice for us, Wanda!” Vision exclaimed.

Also, the best flipping part about this fic is that Lucy is canon is some way thanks to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier!! Sort of. Okay, I still made Lucy up, and Bucky's sister never appears on-screen, so it can be assumed she never made it to the present and passed away at some point. Or he could even be lying. But let me have this!! When my best friend, Matilda, pointed this out, I squealed with happiness so hard.

Buried Beneath The Laughter They Ignored

Tim is totally fine. Ridiculously fine, actually.

It didn’t matter that he woke up feeling this bubbling, manic laughter in his chest, like everything was suddenly so fucking funny. It didn’t matter that he’d woken up from another nightmare last night, crying, calling for his mama—not the mother he lost, but the mother he gained, Harley Quinn. And it didn’t matter that most days, he felt more like Joker Junior than he did Tim Drake.

It didn’t matter that no one else seemed to fucking care.

He shoved down every bit of laughter clawing up his throat, because he knew if he let even one chuckle slip, they’d all give him that look. The one they always did. Disapproval masked as concern. They didn’t like Junior. They didn’t want to believe Junior was still in there, clawing his way up every time Tim breathed.

It didn’t matter that no one ever asked him how he was doing. They didn’t want to talk about it. Because talking about it would make it real, and they preferred pretending it wasn’t. They expected him to be fine, to push it down, to carry on like nothing happened. If he tried to bring it up, they’d say he was being insensitive—insensitive to Jason's trauma. What fucking irony, he thought bitterly. As if it wasn’t insensitive to be stepping all over his by not letting him speak.

It didn’t matter that he caught them glancing at him sometimes, like they were waiting for the other shoe to drop. Waiting for him to snap, waiting for Junior to come out again. But they never asked. No one asked what was going on in his head. No one fucking asked.

It didn’t matter that when he finally snapped, when he finally screamed at them, sick and tired of pretending, they had the nerve to act clueless. As if they didn’t know.

It didn’t matter that Dick, of all people, screamed back. Yelling like he was being unreasonable. Like he was the problem. He screamed at Tim, demanding answers, to ask what the hell he meant by Joker Junior, as if—

As if they didn’t know.

They didn’t fucking know.

This whole time, they hadn’t known.

They didn’t know Tim had been taken. They didn’t know Tim had been missing. They didn’t know Tim had been held prisoner at the hand of the Joker for months, tearing him apart, piece by piece, until Junior was the only thing left of him. They didn’t know he had screamed for them, begged for someone to find him, but no one ever did.

They didn’t know how much he had suffered. Alone. They didn’t know how much he had changed. They didn’t know that every time he woke up now, it felt like he was still Joker Junior, just wearing Tim’s skin.

And they didn’t know how much it hurt—how much it broke him—to realize that they had never known.

Tim wasn’t fucking okay. And it mattered—oh, it mattered—that they didn’t fucking know.

Because if they didn’t know, it meant no one ever bothered to look. It meant no one ever cared enough to notice.
