things twitter migrants may find useful that dont often get included in "how to tumblr" posts
1- queueing!
instead of feeling bad for spam-reblogging and clogging up other people's feeds, you can click the dropdown and add it to your queue instead!
Tumblr media
you can edit how many times a day your queue posts, and between what hours. You can easily re-order or completely shuffle your queue as well!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REBLOG STUFF. Tumblr doesn't run on an algorithm!! YOU are responsible for putting cool stuff onto your followers feeds!
"but if i reblog too much people can't see my posts!" i have just the thing for you
2- personal tags
You can have different tags you use on your blog to help people navigate! for example, i use "dh rb art" when I reblog art and "dh rb" for most other reblogs- that's so that people can filter my reblogs out of their feeds if they dont wanna see that, and only want my original posts to show up.
On the other hand, my art is tagged "dh2497" so they can easily search my account for it!
Tumblr media
If you open a person's blog and click the search button, a list of Featured Tags will show up. By default this is just the blogger's most used tags, but you can customize what shows up on yours in your blog settings
You can follow entire hashtags too! if you wanna see hermitcraft fanart without following every hermitcraft artist, follow the tag :D
3- Filtering
Tumblr actually hides things you don't wanna see, very nicely!
In your account settings, you can filter specific tags, and even specific words that show up in the post.
Tumblr media
sometimes different bloggers warning tag differently (i do [trigger] tw or [content] cw) so you can try to input every variant, but if its something you really want to avoid just put it in the post content as well. Blocklists aren't really a tumblr thing, so if you wanna avoid an entire community you can block their tag as well
NEVER. CENSOR. YOUR WARNINGS. PLEASE. On twitter or tiktok or wherever, you may have to do that or else the algorithm suppresses it- THERES NO ALGORITHM HERE!!! if someone reblogs your post, it will show up for others, don't worry!!! you're just bypassing filters placed for people's safety, if you censor words.
Also! don't worry too much if a word you wanna filter is commonly used in unrelated contexts- tumblr doesn't remove it entirely, but rather adds a 'spoiler' so that you have to click on it to view it. So just in case it is what you want to avoid, you have time to prepare to see it.
4- effective tagging
[read more in detail here] Only the first 5 tags will show up for people who follow the hashtag. That makes them the most important! Then, the first 20 tags will make the post show up when searching that tag. The rest of them do not give your post any visibility.
I see a lot of people reblogging art with fanart tags- that can be useful for searching back the tag in the reblogger's blog specifically, but doesn't actually give the OP more visibility in that tag.
You'll learn what tags to use by checking the content you come across! most communities are "[word]blr", and most fanart goes "#[character/show] fanart". tumblr tags can have spaces!
Lastly, a few notes
you will only have 1 PRIMARY blog. this will appear when you like a post, comment on a post, or follow a blog. your sideblogs will not link back to your primary blog, but you cannot do those interactions as those sideblogs.
artists love receiving compliments when you reblog!! commenting does NOT boost the post. most people put their compliments in the TAGS of their reblog, so that it doesn't become a long post/thread, and if people reblog the reblog of your reblog you won't keep gettings notifications about it. The artist will still see and very much appreciate it
read up on tumblr etiquette, do not treat this place like twitter or you'll be disliked lol. there are some 'big blogs' but follower counts aren't public, popularity isn't a contest here. make friends, or just block/ignore people you don't get along with. no one cares about your petty arguments
if you noticed the lil cat in my screenshots, that's from a very useful browser extension called XKit!! it enables 1-click queue reblogs (automatically adding your tags), mass-post editing, and lots of other great tweaks vanilla tumblr doesn't have! and the cat is a silly cute thing you can enable in it as well

hello you seem to know whats going on help what is tumblr ettiquette and how do i tumblr
oh, uh, howdy! i will do my best to answer this, but i was joking yesterday about how i'm bad at answering questions about knowledge i've known for a while because i am bad at divining what details other people need to know when i already know them. but here's some tips that might help!
turn off best posts first, anything that tumblr recommends you, visible likes, and visible following. you should be able to do all of these things in your settings i just recommend doing them to make your life much easier.
don't use tags that aren't relevant to your post. for example, don't tag an intro post "hermitcraft". however, it's also worth noting: don't use tags with words that aren't relevant to your post, either, because tumblr's search is bad and will pick up those too. (so don't tag "and i really like hermitcraft" in a post that has nothing to do with it, either.) this only matters for... i think it's the first ten tags? after that, tumblr doesn't care anyway. (it might even be as few as the first five i don't. optimize my tags for discoverability anyway so i don't know.)
have a profile picture and a blog title that isn't just your name. some people's blog titles are their name? but you don't see those unless they click on your blog so most people's are like, jokes or things they want to title their blog. your url is also only sort of your name - it's what people know you by but it isn't usually your actual name (for example, my name is second, but this url has nothing to do with time).
reblog stuff! i know you've been hearing about this a lot, and i'm actually gonna say "yeah some people are really super aggressive about it and it's probably not necessary", but know that on tumblr, it is normal to reblog way, WAY more than you post as original content! if you have commentary to add on that reblog, you can put it in the tags if it's stuff that doesn't add to the post (like compliments, random anecdotes, answers to tag games) or, if you're feeling spicy, add a comment on the reblog - although etiquette suggests you only do this if you have a comment that adds to the original post, and most people don't do that often. if your tags are good enough (or you see someone's tags in your notes or while reblogging that you like enough!), it's normal to copy/paste or screenshot them into a comment on the reblog to share them with other people.
the queue exists! this is a way to put posts to post or reblog into a waiting list that tumblr will post at regular intervals. i largely use it to stick art and other things into so i don't completely spam my dash. ...then i spam my dash anyway. use of a queue is entirely optional, but is a way you can use tumblr if you like it!
it’s perfectly fine to reblog old stuff, and in fact treated as normal to have certain old posts circulating. don’t worry about it!
generally, it is better to, if you see stuff in the tag you dislike, figure out what tag or words to block and move on. (for example, i have the phrase "stim board", "stims", and "mood board" blocked, and i know many people have the phrase "x reader" blocked. people who don't like shipping can block the relevant shipping tag, etc.) if you don't like a specific person's content, block them and move on. i am not gonna sit here like some people are and pretend tumblr is a perfect place without discourse; hermitblr was literally just having the world's stupidest discourse last week. however, generally, we try not to do callout posts and have a much more "tolerant of things we don't like" attitude than what i've seen of mcyttwt. we also, generally, have had fewer discourses lately, i just like, don't want to give the impression i think we're immune or something. so just... try to keep that going!
treat ccs as any other user. follow, don't follow, or block as you want, but they aren't why we're here. we're why we're here. so don't treat them as any different from any other tumblr user, yeah? tends to work out better for all of us.
additionally, i'm gonna recommend: i leave anons on. you can block anons that send you stuff you don't like. you can also just... ignore anons or off-anon asks that send you stuff that annoys you. "tumblr may have eaten your ask" basically isn't true anymore, but it could be, and it's like, not that rude or anything to ignore people you don't like.
like okay i cannot recommend the merits enough of ignoring people you don't like. it works SO WELL. if you need to like, link or screenshot them in private with other people you know who will ignore it in public, vent, and then just... ignore them. oh my god does it make your life so much easier.
finally, it can be hard to find new friends at first. i honestly followed a lot of people who reblogged my stuff early on, as well as artists i saw that i liked and writers i saw that i liked. then, as time went on and i saw certain names around, that's who i followed, too. (plus i think i rooted out some joe stream regulars to follow, haha.) you'll build up a circle of the kinds of people you wanna follow. most people don't notice that much when people follow or unfollow. (some people do??? those people baffle me.) so it's not a big deal if you do that. have the experience you like!
hopefully any of this actually helps you!! good luck out there - i know it's scary getting used to a new place!!!

RULES
CONTENT
- NSFW will be likely on this blog but not a constant. If you’re uncomfortable with murder, gore, blood, abuse, etc. (or any mentioning of these things); Then this blog isn’t for you. Sexual things may occur from time to time but it’ll be rare and tagged accordingly!
- Most art I use on here, whether for icons or other means are not mine, nor do I take credit for them. All things that I draw specifically will be tagged as such! Artist credits are as follows: koda_mint, shandzii, sanchesky, fluffpillow, deceptiveshadow, (more tba + links)
- I’m personally triggered by very little, but if I follow you back, if you could tag the following things for me I’d greatly appreciate it. Otherwise tumblr savior won’t work: emetophobia / trypophobia
- Again this blog is going to be full of adult themes and scenarios at times because despite these two being silly daycare attendants, this is still FNAF after all! I’m fine with role-playing serious topics, HOWEVER! Please message me or plot with me beforehand when it comes to heavy topics like this so we’re both on the same page.
- I WILL NOT post about fandom discourse, nor will I engage in call-out posts, vague-blogging, or anything else related. This is a fun and drama-free environment for both me and my friends. If you start drama, harass people, bully, or send hate of any kind towards me or my mutuals, you will be blocked and reported. As Sun would say, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all!
RP ETIQUETTE
- Personal blogs that follow me will usually be blocked. If you have a sideblog that’s your roleplay blog, message me and let me know, or have it stated somewhere on your blog so that I’m aware! I’ve tried in the past to let personals chill here but after weird inbox messages and nonstop spam in different areas, I no longer tolerate them.
- I don’t usually care about reblog karma. I will always personally reblog memes and prompts from their sources, and I won’t get angry if you reblog from me and don’t send something in every single time. However, I WILL get upset if you start to use me as your CONSTANT meme or prompt resource. This means, if you constantly reblog memes from me and never send even ONE back in to me. I will probably say something to you! This is a roleplay blog, and it gets discouraging after a while if you take everything I reblog and never bother to try and send anything back.
- I will ALWAYS read your rules page before I follow you. I will also do my best to make sure I send in passwords or any other form of verification. HOWEVER, I follow A LOT of people so if I ever break a rule of yours, I can assure it was probably an accident. Just message me privately and let me know and I’ll fix it, no problem!
- I have anxiety and my memory and attention span can be shitty and sporadic at times. So it’s totally okay to remind me of replies I owe if it’s been a week or so since I’ve replied! HOWEVER, do NOT harass me or constantly pester me to reply to a thread. Otherwise I’ll drop it completely, and may even soft block you if you become hateful about it.
- Going off what I said above, my memory is bad at times. I also follow a TON of people. I WILL forget things. I may forget about replying to threads, I might also forget about replying to ooc messages, and even certain rules or headcanons about your blog or characters. I can PROMISE you this is not intentional though, and I encourage you to nudge or remind me of things if I DO forget!! Just again, do not be rude about it or hateful. I promise I’m doing my best.
- Sometimes I may get overwhelmed by the amount of threads I’ve accumulated. Or I may not know how to continue a thread if it hits a dead end and I can’t think of anything to keep it going. If this happens I’ll most likely drop a few that I may not be feeling atm. If this happens I will do my best to message you first if I decide to drop a thread of ours!
INTERACTING
- I will ONLY interact with MUTUALS. This means if you follow me and I am not following you back, then I’m probably not interested. My inbox is always open though to anyone even if we aren’t mutuals!
- I will interact with ocs and canon characters from different fandoms. But again we have to be MUTUALS, and I do ask that you have an about page or post somewhere that I can get to, just in case I’m not familiar with your character.
- I WILL NOT interact with personal blogs, or anyone under the age of 18!! This is for my own comfort and even safety. You don’t have to put your age on your blog, but if I ever find out you’re underage, you will be blocked!
- This blog will be multi-ship and multi-verse! I don’t do mains or exclusives, though I may have certain people I respond to quicker just based on the fact we’re close friends or mutuals.
- In addition to running this blog, I run another RP blog, and I also have a job irl. So my activity on this blog, as well as in general, will be sporadic.

All right so I'm going to get the groupings done today and hopefully have the matchups posted by today or tomorrow, but before I get started on that I thought I'd take a second to lay out the etiquette I'm expecting (and what behavior I will be banning) from this poll.
So, unlike the Artificial Kids Poll, which leaned into the "we're taking the kids out for ice cream later" vibe, I'm not gonna come down super hard on trash talk in this one. But that doesn't mean that anything goes! Here's some ideas of what will and will not fly.
Things that are fine:
-Comically exaggerated threats. (Ie, "If my fave doesn't win I'm blowing up the moon!" This is absurd. You're being silly. This is Saturday morning cartoon villain levels of overreaction. I'm fine with this.)
-Playground levels of trash talk. (Ie, "I can't believe they crossed over Camp Camp and Bob's Burgers. Look, see? Little King Trash Mouth." Look, you wanna throw shade at the characters, go for it. They can take it. This is okay too.)
-Incentivizing people to vote against an entry. (Ie, "If this entry wins I'll never watch this show you all keep telling me to watch/if they lose I'll definitely watch it." You wanna hold your own interests hostage to your followers do what you want. This is also fine.)
Things that are not fine:
-Insulting the canon properties or the people who enjoy them. (Ie, "Pitting this media property that I really like and find meaning in against this random who cares media property is an insult to my favorite media property." Any media property can have meaning to anyone, and sometimes the submissions came from people who were trying to fix a bad media so aren't even fans anyway and wouldn't appreciate the implication.)
(AND YES I WILL BE HOLDING MYSELF TO THIS AS WELL. There's RWBY characters in this poll and I am going to be sitting on my fucking hands not to insult RWBY's bad writing or take my usual potshots at how bad cRWBY are at their jobs. Like, for example, see that <- That kind of thing won't be tolerated.)
-Comments about the characters' appearance that can potentially reflect on real existing people who share that trait. (Ie, Felix is cartoonishly thin and explicitly drawn to look like a grimy little shit-weasel; remarks like that are fine, but "He's so ugly, look at his stupid white boy haircut and his complete lack of an ass," are traits that potentially someone reading could possibly have. We're only looking to trash the pretend people, we don't want collateral damage over here.)
-Should go without saying but anything that counts as real world hate-speech (racism, transphobia, anti-semitism, misogyny, ableism, etc, etc, etc- if it feels like you're using my silly tumblr poll as an excuse to be a bigoted piece of shit, I'm blocking you.)
-Anything that invalidates a character's likeability as a character. (This one is purely vibes but a good example is the person on Artificial Kids who kept tagging a poll with their fave against Boyd with how much they hated him. This wasn't trash talk; this was genuine insulting the character and by extension his fans just for the crime of being against their fave. If you're getting this het up about a silly tumblr poll, you probably need to take a step back from online activity. Take a walk around your block or bake some bread or take yourself out for lunch. Something to settle your feelings idk. Just step away and calm down it's not that big a deal.)
TL;DR: I am allowing friendly ribbing and trash talk, but keep it in good sportsmanship territory. Your shade should not extend beyond the pretend people you're throwing it at. Are we all clear? This is a silly tumblr poll, it doesn't need to get that serious.

carrd and blog under construction, placeholder rules below

Tumblr media
001. this blog is 18+, and due to the nature of the muse will contain graphic ( WRITTEN ) depictions of violence and gore. no depictions of irl gore will ever be shown on this blog, and any drawn gore will be tagged appropriately. this blog may also contain :: suggestive or sexual content ;; discussions of domestic and child abuse / trauma / incest that may be triggering ( none of which will be romanticized and the latter is only there because it is part of orin's canon backstory ! ) ;; written and visual depictions of blades / knives, meat and blood ;; and generally triggering topics due to the nature of the muse. please stay safe when viewing this blog - if you need me to tag something that i do not already tag, please just let me know!
002. please use common roleplay etiquette when interacting with me. this includes, but is not limited to; not god-modding or hijacking threads that are not yours, not taking control of my character / meta gaming, etc. this blog is also mutuals only and private, so please make sure we are mutuals before sending asks and starters in! ( note that "mutuals-only" does not mean i am not open to making new mutuals. )
003. please soft-block me if you unfollow so that i do not unintentionally keep contacting you if you've decided you do not want to write with me. i will not be offended, i promise! if i re-follow after you've soft-blocked, just drop me a message or hard-block me and the same applies there.
004. i will likely be low-activity and slow to reply at times. please do not be pushy or rude if it takes me time to respond! if you genuinely think i've missed a thread or lost it or you want to know if i'm still up for it, my dms are open and welcome!
005. i very much dislike drama, so please don't expect me to reblog callout / drama posts unless the person is a genuine danger! i also do not vague post or interact with vague posts about specific people. please respect this. i also try not to make more general vent posts, but i do struggle with my mental health, so if you do see something, it will not be about you!
006. shipping is not a priority on this blog, but that does not mean that i'm not open to it! however, i will never go into an interaction expecting a ship and everything is chemistry and the comfort of both writers based ( also please be aware that orin is like, objectively a terrible person. if i DO write a ship with her it will not be sunshine and rainbows, and i'd like any writing partners to be aware of that from the start! )
007. speaking of orin being a bad person - while i do want to explore a lot of darker themes, i will always ask before inflicting harm upon your muse(s) and i totally encourage plotting to make sure we are both comfortable! mun does not = muse and i do not want people's experiences writing with me to be unfun or uncomfortable.
008. i, the mun, struggle often with severe anxiety and depression, and i also happen to have adhd. my motivation may be sporadic - i promise it's not personal!

Hi sorry asking anonymously because I'm super embarrassed but how do you have conversations with people on this site? How do you interact with people?
Well okay I've had various different blogs on here over the years so I've done the whole "aggregating mutuals" thing from scratch multiple times and honestly it all just comes down to not being afraid to chat with people directly I think. The best thing to do is really just find blogs that have things in common with you and ideally are already kind of "chatty" (as in making personal/conversational text posts relatively frequently, writing thoughts and opinions in the tags of posts they reblog) and then...chatting with them. Reply to their posts in a friendly way or comment on their tags when you reblog the same post from them. You can also send them asks directly with a thought or question or compliment or something but that feels a little more pushy imo lmfao. Not inherently bad, it's just that I think most people who have been here for a while are used to getting random asks from strangers that are alarming or unpleasant so seeing a notification in your ask box can be foreboding 💀 And idk talking in replies/tags just feels more casual to me. Inside voice. An ask is kind of like someone coming up to you and sticking a microphone in your face and less like actually speaking to someone on equal terms.
There aren't hard rules or anything tho and if you're on here long enough you'll probably get used to um. The "etiquette." Which isn't even universal in the first place lmao. The only things I would avoid are like. Reblogging someone's post and commenting directly on the post itself unless you're already friends (very alarming. Who are you and why are you stealing my post.) and just generally acting overly familiar but that obviously goes for real life too. Don't expect most people to follow you back instantly either btw and it's not like an insult if they don't. It just depends on the person? Some people will see a blog with similar interests who seems normal and just follow back instantly regardless of whether you've ever spoken directly, and some people might wait until you've interacted with them a few times before they consider following back, and some people may just never follow you back if they're not interested in what you're posting. It's not about you personally 😭 And some people have a looooot of followers already and therefore a looooot of people trying to interact with them, and so you might just get lost in the crowd. Some people also have been here long enough and had enough bad experiences that they just never follow new people, or even block new people who try to follow them. Just remember none of it is personal 👍 They don't know you any more than you know them. Be normal and kind and you will survive 💖

no spoilers below for Glass Onion I am just making a group suggestion for fun times
I think it’s genuinely atrocious that there has been only a one-week cinema release in relatively limited theatres for Glass Onion, and after that it won’t become available online for another month, and even then ONLY on Netflix. To my understanding there's not going to be a later, longer conventional cinematic release. I ... do not like the sound of that trying to become a thing, buying up streaming rights to the point of drastically limiting the cinema run, and then slapping "Netflix Original" on it to make it sound like they have the creative or intellectual rights/involvement for that to all be reasonable.
And yeah, once it’s online people will start streaming it, but in the intervening weeks the film is going to be picked apart and digested online. That in itself isn’t inherently bad it just means that so many people are going to be spoiled for it and it’s a murder mystery. If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind spoilers that's all good, and if you're a sicko like @goldenaltar who likes getting little appetiser spoilers then that's great, but there are many people who hate spoilers and who find that their experience of a piece of media really gets affected by them.
Usually online etiquette is to be open from the get-go about what you're going to tag and not going to tag. But also sometimes the way you find out that That Thing you were interested in has come out and you need to block tags for it is someone on your dash casually dropping a huge spoiler about it. Sometimes your friend or a tumblr you like just doesn't have the capacity to tag for spoilers, and that's not their fault at all, but also it means you have to either unfollow them for a bit or stay offline entirely.
For me, with ADHD I can't rely on my brain to remember to refollow mutuals and blogs I like after I've seen The Thing, and spoilers really ruin my motivation to watch/read The Thing, so the option I take is often to stay offline entirely because it's the easiest and most secure option. And during that time I feel really pressured to watch or read The Thing so that I can go back online, and that makes me dread watching/reading The Thing, and I feel forced to get into The Thing when everyone else is rather than when I feel ready to. This may be another ADHD thing, but I get stressed to fuck when I'm forced to watch/read The Thing when The Stars Aren't In Position because I feel like I can't process it and aren't getting what I could get out of it. (This phenomenon accidentally ruined ofmd for me, and it's no one's fault it's just what happened, but it's probably going to be a long time before I can rewatch the show and actually enjoy it this time rather than view it as Task Item 47.)
And I feel like I'm not the only person who feels that way. I've seen so many friends/mutuals and other people on tumblr saying things like "I am so fucking tired of watching The Thing as fast as I can as soon as it comes out. It exhausts me and sometimes negatively impacts how much I end up enjoying it. But I feel like, for many many reasons, I have no other option."
When the play The Mousetrap written by big name murder mystery girlie Aggie "Baby Girl" Christie came out (stay with me I promise this is relevant) in London's West End in 1952, Baby Girl (this is a semi-derogatory (for the bad stuff) and semi-affectionate (for the good stuff) thing I call her, it's like our thing don't worry) was very concerned about the plot twist being revealed in reviews. She was already very used to her murder mystery plots getting spoiled by reviewers and Baby Girl did not like it. So on opening night and onwards elsewhere traditionally, performances of The Mousetrap end with the audience being asked not to spoil the plot twist for others so that other people can enjoy the play too. It's kind of cool because no one has to and many people don't, but bringing people into a secret makes something that is ultimately just a nice and kind thing to do also sexy and fun.
And I think. It would really sexy. And really fun. If we kept spoilers on tumblr under readmores. No one has to and many people won't. That's all good. But I really hate Netflix right now and the entire system they're trying to set up, of giving people one week to catch a limited release film and then stranding them in a wasteland of spoilers until December, at which point the only place to watch it (haha. theoretically) will be on Netflix. I would very much like to not be part of that system as best I can while still supporting an amazing film which I loved and a series I would like more of.
So absolutely, if you're thinking about catching a cinema screening today (or tomorrow if you're further away from Thursday than I am), I say it's well worth it, it's fantastic film. My partner and I drove an hour and a bit on a weeknight to see it and it was 100% worth it imo. But we were lucky to be able to do that, and I would like to ensure that other people get to experience the film the way we did – on our own terms, at a time when we were pumped to see it, and without any spoilers we didn't want. So my thing from here on until early Jan is going to be keeping anything spoilery under readmores. No one else has to do it and I think most people wouldn't. But it's nice, and it's kind. And it's sexy and fun.
Also I'm not gonna make any comments on whether you should stream directly from Netflix's tit but I do think they should go fuck themselves for this one. yeah it's just a movie but I will hiss at people who try to pry my small tender joys from my anxious depressed little hands

a  novel  based , independent , highly private and mutuals only portrayal  of
𝖆𝖊𝖒𝖔𝖓𝖉 𝖙𝖆𝖗𝖌𝖆𝖗𝖞𝖊𝖓 : kinslayer , aemond one - eye.
second  son  of king  viserys  the  i  and  alicent  hightower.  based on  george  rr martin's  fire  and  blood.
triggering  themes  will be tagged / include  : anger and violence,  murder,  death,  particularly child  death  and  the celebration  of  it  (  especially  when  it comes  to  lucerys velaryon  , rest in peace king )  misogyny,  mentions  of  incest  (  but  never explicitly  written.  ) 20+  only.
interest tracker . . . prompts
please read my rules before following : i will not follow first as i want writers to read my rules and decide for themselves if they want to follow <3
my boundaries include:
since incest unfortunately is a huge part of the ' a song of ice and fire ' universe, it can't be avoided, and so it will be mentioned ( and tagged ! ) however, it will never be explicitly written.
do not follow me if you write lucerys x aemond / lucerys x aegon.
anti - daemyra. and i just generally will not be cool w ppl writing incest in anyway which includes aemond and helaena and aemond/aegon .. pls no thank u ! i firmly rebuke all of the canon / fandom ships for aemond sorry fjdjf. this includes aemond x alys , who i don't ship for my own reasons. ( i am uncomfortable with age gaps mostly but am willing to write them in a non - romantic way ! ) i also ask if you do ship them in a romantic way and decide to follow me, to please tag it so that i can block the tag.
there will most likely be criticism of house of the dragon found here. it will be tagged as : hotd crit / with that said i do not mind writing with hotd based muses at all, this is just a personal thing when it comes to the way they decided to depict aemond / it goes directly against my portrayal.
i assume if you follow me, you have an interest in the greens in some capacity ( as do i ! ) however : if you are anti - team black , anti - rhaenyra , anti - alicent , anti - targaryen women , please don't follow me. criticism of all of the above are welcome , but i tend to avoid people who proudly claim they hate any of the those characters / especially targaryen women. if you can't acknowledge the fact that a lot of them ( especially dany and rhaenyra ) are the heroes / victims of the story , who have flaws along with any other character , then maybe i am not the person to follow.
this blog is an attempt at writing aemond in a very novel - based way. he's cruel , a loser , narcissist , definitely a misogynist etc. he kills his poor nephew because he wants to kill him, it wasn't an accident. despite this, i'm interested in writing a very nuanced character who does bad things bc he feels entitled to it , as well as stepping away from the way media always needs a reason for a character to do bad things. sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. if you don't like that, then this blog may not be for you. <3
with all that said, i do think aemond serves cunt. he has a lot of qualities that i like and want to portray / really love the idea of his position within his families dynamics. i'm going to try talking about all his cool and cunty qualities a lot here without erasing the bad.
writing , shipping , general etiquette:
multi - verse, multi - ship, i do and will practice mains and exclusives. duplicate, crossover, and oc friendly. ( for ocs please have a bio or at least some stats ! )
very important note : do not approach me immediately for shipping purposes. i hate feeling like someone doesn't care about my character beyond a ship that they can offer.
with that said, shipping is so fun, and i'm not gonna pretend that i don't want to do it ... but it's just not a priority for me. if you'd like to, we can discuss it only after we have already established some sort of foundation whether that is through a thread or through plotting. keep in mind that he's not a particularly fun guy so ... just you know, please remember that when you approach me.
please do not god - mod! please also keep in mind that my activity is very low. you can remind me about a thread you might think i missed, but please leave it at one reminder and do not pester me. i have a full time job and writing is just a hobby. if i do not reply to a meme you sent me, or if i don't continue a thread, it doesn't mean i'm uninterested.
if you want to unfollow, please hard block so that i don't forget and try to refollow you. i'll do the same.
i don't care to see vagues or ooc drama, we're all adults and if you ever have a problem with me, i'd love it if you communicated that or simply just block me!
this really doesn't need to be said but i'll say it : if i see racism, transphobia, homophobia, white washing, etc. i will simply hard block.
thank you for taking the time to read this. i know it's a lot but i just want to make sure that i'm comfortable in this space, and set clear boundaries so that there is no confusion in the future. i am super excited to explore aemond's character in a way that feels right to me and to the depiction that we received of him in fire and blood!

I totally get not liking sapphic senate and stuff but like acting personally attacked by something that is such a small percentage of the fandom can you can easily block through tags is quite weird you don't have to agree with everything you don't have to follow each prompt and I don't think you mean wrong but you keep taking tropes and fandom things that you don't personally like as attacks (excluding st//dies that don't tag properly that's just bad etiquette) and it's really not that serious
ah, yes, me having an opinion and posting it on my own blog is acting "personally attacked". give me a break and stop reading the nonsense they post in their discord. all i said was that if you're going to make an 'event' targeted at the fandom at large, it makes more sense to have the prompt be "platonic/romantic ot3+ of your choice" to give more freedom and encourage more people to participate. you don't get to tell me i don't have to agree with everything, but it's okay for people to get worked up in my notes and try to make me agree just because they lack reading comprehension? make it make sense.
i already have the sapphic senate tag blocked. i've had it blocked for a long time and rarely even mention the pairing. the only reason i saw this post was because a friend reblogged it, and they obviously didn't tag every prompt listed because that would be stupid.
regardless, i don't even know what you're talking about with the last part. disagreeing with something doesn't mean i take the original opinion as an attack lmao, that is the most chronically online take i've ever heard. i'm allowed to have an opinion on popular ideas and ships within a fandom space; i don't have to agree with anyone, just like they don't have to agree with me, and the fact that you expect me to keep my mouth shut on my own blog is super fucking weird.

hello any twitter migrants following this blog!! while a lot of people have been posting about reblogs > likes, and the tumblr algorithm (helpful!), i just wanted to post something about the less talked about elements of tumblr etiquette.
TAGS. on tumblr, tags are that bit at the bottom of the post (like a footnote). usually to find posts people search by tags (like key terms), so it can be good to tag fandoms, characters, etc (individually, ex. #sonic rather than #sonic the hedgehog fanart shadow tails). BUT WE DON'T TAG UNRELATED THINGS (this is ANNOYING and will not get you "exposure").
TAGGING is also important for filtering - TUMBLR IS ALL ABOUT CURATING YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE. so it's important to tag fandoms, trigger warnings, and so on, in case people have them filtered out (ex. #tw violence). and you can block tags too!
ON REBLOGGING - when you reblog, you can add tags, or add on to the post. when you add tags, they are NOT carried over if someone reblogs the post from you. generally, compliments, personal notes, small additions, or extra tws go here. adding to the post WILL carry over, so people will use it to add additional information, jokes, fun extras, and so on - things that ENHANCE the original post.
BLOCKING IS ENCOURAGED. if someone makes you uncomfortable, block them. if someone posts things you don't want to see, block them. unless you're mutuals, people probably won't even notice, let alone care.
DON'T DERAIL POSTS. i don't mean "don't add random shit", because tumblr thrives off chaos. i mean "don't use someone else's post to push your own agenda or air your own grievances". it's like cutting into someone else's conversation. rude.
ASKBOXES ARE USEFUL. if you have a question, want to reach someone, or just want to send prompts, you can send an ask! if people don't want them, their askboxes will be closed, but they're generally appreciated (as long as they aren't rude, or sending anon hate)
THERE IS NO CLOUT ON TUMBLR. nobody sees your follower count, so a 2 follower blog can converse with a 1000 follower blog easily. there are no dates so posts from 2014 circulate next to posts from an hour ago. notes aren't based on who sees your post, only who leaves a like, comment, or reblog. it's essentially anti-social media.
DON'T ASK PEOPLE TO REBLOG YOUR POST IN ASKS. they won't. if you want to promote a post, use tumblr blaze and pay. if you need money desperately, go to a subreddit designed for that. tumblr is useless, and these asks range from annoying to guilt-trippy and triggering.
TUMBLR HAS A HISTORY OF BOTS so you'll probably be blocked upon following if your blog has nothing customised. chuck in an icon, or a header, colours, a subheading, etc. just something.
YOUR HOMEPAGE IS CALLED THE DASHBOARD/DASH. nobody really cares if you call it a timeline, but just so you're aware.
DON'T C3NS0R TAGS. a bunch of tiktokkers have been censoring tws or curse words (yknow like.. "k1LL", and so on). this is bad because it bypasses blocked tags - if someone has #tw abuse blocked, #abu$3 will still show up). nobody cares if you swear (if they do they will filter it out). tag properly.
that's about everything i can think of, but just being nice, generally, is a good starting point. nobody will fault you for being imperfect if you're trying your best.
tumblr functions like an ecosystem, and new organisms need to acclimate, lest there be an issue of invasive species.

tumblr etiquette 101
a list that is nowhere near exhaustive, from yours truly.
First off, welcome! Whether you’re a twitter veteran looking for anything but whatever twitter is, or a new user just done signing up, glad to see you in our ranks beloveds! Welcome home. Refer to this quick tour to make sure your fandom experience (or tumblr experience in general) is a positive one!
Disclaimer: I know it’s long, but please try to read or skim through til the end if you’re new here! This is by no means meant to be a rule book (for the most part lol), only a guide to help you get settled easier!
1) Your blog
This is where people will see and interact with you, so put some effort into it!
Try to choose a name (url) that’s simple. You can see it as your brand, it’s how people will perceive you and remember you. If you’d like to interact with other users here (and not use the site just for the content) it’s better to have something short and sweet, preferably without spaces. (Of course, these are only suggestions.) Rest assured, you can change it literally any time you want.
Have a theme. Utilize the tool that lets you edit your blog’s color or the font of your bio! You can make it match your profile picture, or your blog if it has a theme of its own. Make it feel homey :]
Fill in your bio. People will be checking out your profile probably more often than you think. Don’t leave it empty! Put in any information you’re comfortable with sharing and isn’t too personal (like your age if you’re a minor, or other TMI that can be found on other people’s carrds). It’s always better to add a name/nickname people can use to refer to you by, but feel free to use your blog description to shitpost still.
You can have an intro post. More often than not, you’ll see a blog have a pinned post, a post permanently appearing at the top of a blog until you pin another post or unpin it. You can make one of those, if you’d like to introduce yourself in more length, link any other socials or a carrd, and show others visiting your blog how you tag things so it’ll be easy for them to navigate. Not an obligation.
Keep your anonymity and your safety. It should go without saying, but there’s no harm in repeating it just in case. Your comfort, privacy and safety has the utmost importance. Don’t share any information you don’t want to. Don’t share your age if you’re a minor, or any other incredibly personal info. I’d encourage you to go by a nickname that’s not your real name, (blog name, your brand, remember?) since there’s safety in anonymity, and that’s lowkey one of the big deals of tumblr, but that’s up to you still.
Choose what you want to be visible. Your liked posts and who you follow are all things you can set to keep to yourself and hide from the publics eye, how handy! You should go through all the setting while you’re at it, set it to your comfort.
Side blogs are a thing. You can have multiple blogs that you can use for different things (see: different fandoms, art blog, etc) to keep them organized or away from your followers. Just remember that the replies and off-anon asks you send will be from your main blog, as well as where you follow other blogs from.
2) Interacting with others
You’ve set up your account, now comes the fun part!
Follow to your heart’s desire. If you care about others seeing who you follow, fear not! In tumblr, usually only two types of blogs keep their following visible to others: newbies, and big blogs using it to point people on other good blogs’ direction. Just turn it off, and go ham following people.
Customize your dashboard. Gonna mention just two things here: this is another reason why it’s really important that you follow blogs without sparing, your dash will collect dust otherwise; and you should turn off “best stuff first” in your dashboard settings, to have a better community here and all.
Follow tags. You can set it in your settings that posts with your followed tags appear on your dashboard.
You can check the og post for edits and context. When you see a reblogged post you don’t understand the context of (or don’t recognize the character in case of fanarts), click on the profile so it will take you to the original post. From there you can check the original poster’s tags to get the context, or see if there have been any edits made to the post, since when you edit a post it doesn’t update any past reblogs.
Send people asks... This is how you make mutuals, people! Do it off-anon if you’d like them to know your blog, or anon if you’d rather not! (You can still end your messages with a signature to show you’re the same person, -[name] is one example.) Send them nice messages, ask their opinion on something, discuss things, or just straight up shitpost lol. Go wild. The sky’s your limit and it’s definitely more than 280 characters.
...and let them ask you! You can set your preference in the settings, do it on desktop tumblr to access more settings tho! What you can customize on mobile is limited (like letting people ask you things anonymously, that’s only on desktop settings). In my personal opinion, it’s always better to tag their username (or a nickname you give them, if they’re a friend) on that post, since you wouldn’t want your interactions with your friends to get buried in your blog forever.
Comment on posts. If you have something to say but don’t want the post to appear on your blog you can add a comment. The owner of the post will get a notif for it, but for anyone else you need to tag them.
For the love of god, reblog. People will only see your liked posts if you have it visible to public and they specifically go on your blog to look at them. You like something? You reblog. It’s already hard for posts to circulate properly, if you don’t reblog them literally no one will see them. If not for anything do it for the artists. Just hold and drag on mobile to fast rb.
3) Your Posts
Finally here! Don’t be a lurker, post and engage!
Make use of “read more”. If your post is long, add it. That’s what you clicked on earlier to expand this post. On desktop leave an empty line and you’ll see three dots appear, and on mobile type :readmore: on that empty line.
Draft a post to come back to it later. Pretty self explanatory.
Queue your post. Whether it’s your own post or you’re reblogging, make use of the queue feature to a) not spam reblog and fill up the dashboard of people following you and b) keep your blog active while you’re gone. Mess around in the settings, it’s fairly easy to set up.
Schedule your post. Same as queueing, the only difference is you get to choose the exact time your post will go up. Handy if you want to schedule a post for certain dates like april fools, or 5 years in the future for some reason.
Format your texts. You can do all kinds of fancy stuff here (that’s a link, try pressing on it). Twitter doesn’t have this, make use of it. Changes depending on whether you’re on mobile or desktop. (Desktop has less features.)
Check your stats. If you’re trying to understand the algorithm better or want to look at some pretty graphs you can get your data on that on desktop tumblr.
@ people in comments. You’ll get all the notifs when people comment on your posts but they won’t see your reply unless you tag them in your message.
4) Tags, and tagging a post
This is where my earlier statement “this isn’t a rule book” stops being applicable. It’s not a war crime to go against these, I won’t come chasing you (don’t take my word for this) but you’ll work up a bad rep. Just saying lol.
Do NOT crosstag posts. It’s really tempting to add unrelated tags to increase your posts’ interaction, I know, but that’s not what tumblr is about. Don’t be a dick and make other communities’ experience worse for them.
Always tag your posts with “crit/critical/discourse/etc” if it calls for it. There’s no exceptions to it. This is the reason you see people migrating to tumblr. Let people enjoy things.
Don’t main tag a critical/negative post. If your crit post is about “Thing”, you add the “Thing critical” tag, but not the “Thing” tag. People block crit tags if they don’t want to see it, don’t shove it in their faces by main tagging it.
If you don’t want to see something, just block it. Another reason why people are able to survive on tumblr. You don’t start discourse, you don’t make call-outs, you block. You can find something for every community you can think of if you go looking for it. The worst of the worst probably won’t ever appear on your dash, but if you’re worried or feel the need for it, you know where the block button is.
Feel free to shitpost or ramble. More often than not you’ll see people rb a post with a comment, and their elaboration will be in the tags. The tags are only visible on your profile and the notifications of the owner of the og blog. Just a thing people do.
Reblog artists’ posts with nice comments in the tags! Commenting on a drawing is usually done through the tags (Not an obligation, again, just a thing people do. Feel free to add your comment on the rb itself if you’d want other people to see it tho!) and leave nice messages for the artists! It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
If you have more than a single follower, always use the common tw warning tags. You don’t need to tw everything, but tw’ing some common things is the bare minimum human decency. Keep it safe for others.
Tag a post “long post” if it’s really long. Pretty self explanatory. Don’t make people scroll through all that please lol.
You can use them to organize your blog. This is more of a pro tip, if you’d like to not miss a post in your blog, cause they will start pilin’ up soon enough.
#Liveblogging is pretty fun. If you’d like to talk to people during streams, don’t forget to add the relevant tags still! Again, you won’t show up on people’s dash otherwise.
Whew! That got out of hand. Hopefully I didn’t bore you too much. Check out blogs like @heritageposts and @hellsite-hall-of-fame to honor our past o7. @mcytblr-hall-of-fame too maybe :eyes:. Anyways, don’t forget the most important rule of them all:
Enjoy your stay! You’re meant to have fun on here while also making friends (if that’s your thing). Just be kind and respectful of others, you’ll get the hang of the rest! <3

i have my asks off cuz someone was spamming, but twitter folks who are moving here, if you have genuine questions, you can dm me (you have to follow though because i have the only followers dm on cuz i was scared of getting spam there too) or just ask stuff under the post. but general etiquette is:
it's not necessary for you to do an intro post, most people don't care. but you can do a pinned post, so the people who care can go and check that out. you can also put your dni and the tags that you use to organize your blog in there!
don't do call out post here. we follow the strict rule that if we see somebody we dislike we just block those people, and report them if they are doing something nasty. call out posts just don't work and it bring unnecessary attention to someone who is probably SEARCHING for that attention, you may do one if it's somebody who it's like, dangerous, but generally abstain from doing that. drama bring nothing but p a i n and bad reputation.
if you go and search through old stuff from a cc, find something "problematic" they did and post it here, we will mock you. stop doing that. it makes you look like you are trying to give them bad fame on purpose. if you dislike a cc block their name and tag, and move on. nobody cares about what a cc said in 2015, you wanna help minorities? great! reblog educational posts, donation websites, petitions, etc!
don't go around trying to fight people for a personal opinion, if somebody it's saying something that you disagree with, you can respectfully say and argument why don't you agree with that, aggressivity will not make you look cool, it will make you look like a dick who doesn't know how to defend their point. or just block them really use the goddamn button.
don't tag mcyt stuff with minecraft or mineblr because it interferes with the people that are only into the game and not the youtubers, use mcyt! somebody pointed out that you shouldn't use the philza minecraft tag because since it has minecraft in it, it would also appear on the minecraft tag, so use only philza instead!
tag your critical posts with [name] critical, c![name] critical so people who don't wanna see that can avoid it! you can use [name] neg too!
don't hijack the tags of other fandoms, please.
don't main tag your critical posts.
reblogs are much more helpful than likes, by a lot, so if you really like a post, you should reblog it! (specially if it is a fanart, creative writing, etc).
feel free to add to this!

it is your side that has been crosstagging for years now and posting negative, offensive, and frankly disgusting content. even when people tag posts with "anti sansa stark" your side comes seething out like jobless harpies to attack the person and call them names such as "stupid sluts/bitches" and this is without mentioning all the buzzwords your insensivitive asses ascribe to people who disagree with your nonsensical headcanons and misogynistic theories. stay in your lane, stop offending people by posting anti content in the "asoiaf" tag to circumvent the specific character tag so you can claim that you're innocent and we would have no problem. better yet, stop harrassing individuals, and kindly fuck off to your regressive circle of dumbasses <3 instead of wondering why your friends have to resort to changing the text from the books to supplement your poor excuse of "metas" you are all crying about how a fictional character, sansa stark, is driving people crazy. newsflash your ignorant fuck: nobody cares about your fave so much as the behaviour you people, her fans, have been showing for the longest while now.
Do you really think you’re in the position to lecture me about tumblr etiquette? Because it’s impossible for you to make me feel bad about other people’s behavior while you’re behaving this way. Like, let’s just sit here and think how funny it is that you’re complaining to me about the proper use of tags in a hateful anonymous message. Come on, that is really funny!
Actually, let’s just pause and think about how your anon hate undermines your argument, not only for that reason but also because my asks are not usually tagged with any of the main tags, so I know you’re following me (or my mutuals who reblog my stuff) which means you’re just camped out on our blogs for the sole purpose of making a nuisance of yourself. And while you’re doing that, you think you can convince me that we’re the ones creating drama.
Tumblr media
Personally, I don’t like the insults you mentioned, so I know I haven’t used them in reference to characters and certainly not in reference to other fans, and I’m not responsible for other people’s choices or behavior, and I certainly can’t dictate what they say, so I’m not even sure what your goal is. I mean, you expressed your rage (yay!), but technically, as long as we’re keeping stuff on our own blogs or using the anti tag, we’re following tumblr etiquette no matter what horrible names we call the rest of the fandom. You’re the one engaging in targeted harassment. Oops! 😆
Speaking of tags, it sounds like you’re confused about how people use the tags? Everything ASOIAF related is allowed in that main tag. If it is “anti” a character or ship, it should also be tagged “anti (insert character or ship)” so people’s filters prevent them from seeing it, but it isn’t the case that people aren’t allowed to post negative content there. That isn’t some scheme to “circumvent” anything, it’s how all sides of the fandom have used the tags for as long as I’ve been active. Now you can even filter the content of the post, so it’s up to you to turn the filters on.
Lastly, that claim that “nobody cares about my fave” uh, y’all do. That’s why yesterday and today Sansa fans have been getting anon hate. You’re obsessed with her. Instead of blocking me and others in my fandom, instead of filtering tags to avoid our offensive takes, you’re here, reading our stuff and choosing to interact with us. I can only assume y’all care, and that you care a lot. One day, when you truly don’t care about our opinion, when you’re over worrying that we’re right about Sansa and her endgame, you’ll stop reading our stuff. If you truly didn’t care, you’d leave us alone. How do I know? I block y’all. I go through the anti Sansa tag and block all of you because I truly don’t give a fuck. Try it. You’ll be happier for it, I promise.

About IZ’s fandom policies, and why they are like this
Ok, since I’ve seen people taking screenshots of my tweets on this subject, I thought it’d be better for me to just make a Tumblr post.
I’m sorry for not putting this under a readmore, but I want people who visit the tag to read it all.
tl;dr: No, IZ isn’t LGBTQIA+phobic, nor do they hate your hcs and AUs. It’s just literally how JP fandom works.
-
JP fandom etiquette functions as thus: the main tag is ONLY for content that complies with canon. This is done so anyone who searches for it has accurate information and the right “image” of the fandom they’re looking at.
“Image”, in this context, is not “oh I want new people to think this series is good and not icky like the icky fanart those fans make”. The “image” is, quite literally, a reflection what you see in official media. JP authors, while ok with headcanons, want people who get into the main tag to get what their series is about from the getgo, without confusion.
This is why shipping, “hard” headcanon content and AUs go into separate tags on Twitter: # whnoc (WH non-official content) and # whnos (WH non-official shipping)
What got IZ splitting hairs was not the headcanons themselves, but people using official art and the main tag to claim characters have canon sexualities when they do not.
In JP fandom, the notion of “fantasy” is prevalent: fill in the gaps left by canon, and project anything you want in there. Characters having ambiguous sexualities and identities is something authors do on purpose, in order for a fan’s “fantasy” to take control in fandom.
What we see when someone edits official art to include a sexuality/identity flag and going “X is gay now! It’s canon!” is a fan acting on “fantasy”; semi-ironically declaring a character’s sexuality to express their love for the idea.
What a person engaged in JP fandom sees when someone does that is someone willingly breaking the ambiguity the creator put there on purpose just to selfishly declare their headcanon as truth, denying everything else. The main tags are for canon information, so if something like this is there, it’s seen as a declaration of canon truth.
Same with AUs! What a JP person thinks when they see an unspecified AU in the main tag, they go “oh that must happen in canon at some point”. It causes confusion due to the different views on tag etiquette, and that’s something IZ wants to avoid.
(JP fandom has certain keywords to help them identify AUs, but we don’t have that system.)
About art edits, well. As an artist myself, not editing someone’s art should be pretty damn obvious. Not only do edits in the canon tag cause confusion, but it’s also the defacing of someone else’s art!
About that, IZ has said cropping and resizing their art for video thumbnails, headers and such is ok, along with very light edits (like brightness or saturation, nothing that distorts the characters at all) that are positive towards the characters.
(Also, I know they don’t hate AUs and hcs because they’ve liked a bunch of them on Twitter, including when I made Wilardo and Ashe in FFXIV. If they’re fine with my ugly ass FFXIV models they’re fine with anything.)
The rumors of IZ hating LGBT fancontent were born from an earlier declaration of theirs, where they said “any LGBT content is not official nor intentional”. People took that as meaning IZ was denouncing shipping and sexuality headcanons as bad, but it was just them trying to reiterate the point about authors leaving sexualities vague. If I recall correctly, this was shortly after the whole siri/claire debacle, so people already wanted to pick a fight with them. A lot of the people who spread this rumor had blocked both Aster and myself, the two people who translate IZ’s tweets into English: so they had no source of translation except machine translators, which predictably enough did not do their job very well.
In summation: This is all a misunderstanding, JP fandom etiquette is literally just like that, and IZ just wants canon compliance in the main Twitter tag. You’re free to post hcs and AUs in another tag, and IZ even encourages it.
Edits are banned though.
