CG: IF WE CAN RIDE THIS OUT FOR A LITTLE LONGER UNTIL THE CRITICAL MOMENT, AND DAVE/ROSE CAN DESTROY THE SUN, JACK SHOULDN'T BE A THREAT. CG: CONVENIENTLY, IF THEY'RE SUCCESSFUL, THAT WILL SIGNAL THE BEGINNING OF OUR OWN ESCAPE PLAN. […] CG: APPARENTLY THE EXPLOSION WILL BE SO HUGE, IT WILL BE VISIBLE AT GREAT DISTANCES THROUGHOUT THE FURTHEST RING. CG: EVEN FROM DIFFERENT SESSIONS, LIKE YOURS AND OURS.
Alright, this escape plan is starting to come into focus.
The Sun's explosion will create the Ring's first ever landmark, allowing the trolls to pinpoint its 'location' without needing to build a Horrorterror Map. It's a little screwy that the explosion will be visible 'at great distances' when the Ring's concept of distance is nebulous at best - but on the other hand, this is no normal explosion, either. I guess the metaphysical details don't really matter here; the key takeaway is that the trolls will travel to the Sun.
CG: EVEN FROM DIFFERENT SESSIONS, LIKE YOURS AND OURS. YOU WON'T GET TO SEE IT BECAUSE BY THEN YOUR SESSION SHOULD BE WIPED OUT BY THE SCRATCH.
The kids, however, will not. The timing doesn't work out.
What I'm hearing, though, is that it is theoretically possible for other sessions to follow this new waypoint. Over time, the Sun's remains could even become a rendezvous point for sessions scattered across the multiverse, allowing Players to meet, collaborate, and share resources.
For now, though, it's just a way for the trolls to get out of dodge.
CG: SO YEAH, WE'LL MEET IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE EXPLOSION WITH OUR PEOPLE ON THE INSIDE, OR I GUESS I SHOULD SAY OUTSIDE. CG: I DON'T THINK THEY CAN COME WITH US THOUGH. EB: come with you where? who are they? CG: DEAD PEOPLE.
Dead people, as well as their cheerful psychopomp. Unlike the Ring's ghosts, Aradia could conceivably rejoin the team at this point - but I don't think she's actually likely to do so, because she's needed out in the Ring.
The Dream Bubbles are an extremely important resource, and I don't think anyone could manage them as well as her. This is her element.
CG: THE SCRATCH WILL REBOOT YOUR SESSION. YOUR WHOLE UNIVERSE ACTUALLY. SO SOMEWHERE IN THIS DREADFUL ABYSS, THAT NEW SESSION WILL START UP IN ITS OWN INCIPISPHERE, FROM SCRATCH. […] CG: THE IDEA IS FOR YOU ALL TO PRESERVE YOURSELVES BY ESCAPING THERE.
I sort of assumed that the reboot session would physically replace the original, by spawning directly on top of it. Apparently that's not the case, though; it just pops up somewhere at random.
Well, that'll make it a little harder to find, since we won't know where to look. I can't really think of any solutions, either, unless reboot-Rose is kind enough to post another GameFAQs guide. Preferably one containing her exact dimensional coordinates.
EB: through the lawn ring? CG: YES.
Through the lawn ring? So, what, the Yard is a physical pathway that they can move through?
Once again, I don't have any real theories - except that if the Yellow Yard is indeed some sort of 'pathway', I have a horrible feeling we're being teed-up for a 'yellow brick road' joke.

Sixth Coil Mechanics
since i'm not getting out of the labyrinth any time soon, i thought i'd try to map out how it all works for funsies and how to get around if you want to find all the areas/text
for the most part you don't need to worry about anything other than how to get out (so you don't get in too deep and have to spend 100 actions to get out oopsies), so this is more for anyone interested in finding all the unique areas and text
Basic Navigation
first off, there are FOUR main areas, one for each of the main stats: persuasive, dangerous, shadowy, watchful
you can tell which area you're in by the check on the top available action. so if it's a dangerous check, you're in the dangerous area. those top actions will never take you to another area and are just the default thing to play if there's nothing else interesting
to get between areas you need to use actions that let you go up or down. they only show up at certain airs of the labyrinth and they'll have words like descend, climb, etc
here is a rough map of how the 4 areas connect to each other:
so, for example, if you choose a descend through a trap door type option in watchful, you will end up in dangerous. it you climb up in watchful you will be in shadowy
persuasive is the odd one out as going either up or down from it will take you back to dangerous
rest below the line
Burdens
each area has one item you can pick up, which goes in your burdens slot
shadowy = clinging shadow
persuasive = velvet countenance
dangerous = heavy iron
watchful = predatory clarity
each burden makes the checks harder but increases the rewards you get when you cash out. see the next section for how to get rid of them
Getting Out
every successful action you take gives you +1 coiling ever deeper (little snek icon)
at any point you may start the process of getting out by using the Resolve to leave this place action at the bottom. A successful attempt at that will give you an attribute called Fleeing The Heart. while you have that attribute every successful action will take -1 coiling ever deeper away. when you get rid of all of it, you can leave
there will also be a new option called Shed your burdens. this lets you get rid of your burdens to get out easier if you're stuck (easier checks, not necessarily faster) at the cost of reducing your final reward
update: originally for every point of coiling ever deeper in you went, you had to use an action to go out one (so 100 coiling ever deeper = 100 successful shrine to get out), but a merciful update has made it so that when you obtain fleeing the heart, coiling ever deep is set to 30
Mirror Actions
There are at least 5 mirror actions and I honestly don't know what they do. They are:
bronze mirror
hard mirror
cracked mirror
gold-framed mirror
black mirror
they have really high glassworks checks (at 15 gw i have a 20% chance)
Memory of Light Actions
these are action that show up sometimes based on airs of the labyrinth. they take you between sub areas within the area you're in, but i'm not 100% clear on how that works. they do give you sightings of a parabolan landmark
Gaping Maw Actions
these only show up when you're going into the labyrinth and not when you're coming out. I think they might randomly move you between attribute areas (but sometimes leave you where you are?)
Examine A Sealed Door
This might be the door to the center of the sixth coil, but you can't get in it right now. it only shows up when airs of the labyrinth is exactly 100. There are 99 different flavor texts that can appear within it (the part in italics only). there's a gdoc collecting them all if you want to help out (this is not mine, found on reddit). I will link it in a reblog comment of this post because tumblr doesn't like links in posts despite that being a feature of this completely functional website
Sub Areas of Each Stat Area
Each area (shadowy, watchful, etc) has a bunch of sub areas in it, designated by the title of the page you're on. Below is the list of ones I've found. I suspect I'm missing some
Shadowy
predator's den
dark clearing
orchid grove
scale tree stand
cycad bend
termite mound
rose thicket
Persuasive
marble corridor
feathered bedchamber
portrait gallery
sculpture garden
reflecting washroom
servant's quarters
overflowing dining room
hedge maze
plush drawing room
carpeted boudoir
Dangerous
muddy trench
crumbling battlement
concrete bunker
field of spears
cramped arsenal
windowless war-room
fortified position
deserted emplacement
cracked foundation
bloody sewer
Watchful
leatherbound study
glim-mosaic library
optical gallery
door storage
circular observatory
tattooed office
ink repository
have fun!

PAIRING: Waterbender Jung Wooyoung x Non-Bender F!Reader
RATING/GENRE: M ; angst, fluff, eventual smut ; ATLA au, enemies to lovers
WORD COUNT: 2.6k

Crossing the Desert of Eden is not for the faint of heart. It is one of the world’s greatest paradoxes, a place where nature's most wonderful and most dangerous creatures coexist in a delicate balance. Even the sand itself is an example of this—crystalline and beautiful, ever sparkling under the light of the sun, yet each granule is as jagged as splinters of glass. Without proper foot bindings, your journey cannot even begin.
Amidst the harsh landscape, pockets of life burst forth in brilliant defiance. Rare desert blooms dot the barren terrain with bursts of color. Some hold the power to heal, their petals emitting a fragrance that soothes both body and soul. Others are laced with deadly venom, capable of stopping a heart with but a single touch.
Sand serpents slither through the dunes, their scales nearly translucent, giving them the ability to blend in seamlessly with the landscape. One bite is all it takes for total paralysis to overtake you, rendering you incapacitated for mere minutes to hours at a time. Celestial birds soar overhead, searching for prey, their wings casting shadows on the ground below.
And even if you’re able to avoid those threats, blinding winds carry grains of sand like lashes, stinging skin, obliterating landmarks, and disorienting even the most skilled navigators. The desert swallows the unwary, erasing their footprints from existence.
It is in this very place that Wooyoung finds himself, accompanied by seven of his fellow benders. In normal circumstances, he would avoid a place like this at all costs, his sense of self-preservation persevering over the curiosity of what secrets the desert holds. But things haven’t been normal for a long, long time.
He feels like he’s been walking for days, his legs heavy and leaden. Despite his protective robes, the wind and sand have whipped at his skin, leaving it battered and raw. Just one look at the faces of his companions is enough to prove he isn’t the only one feeling this way. The only one who seems miraculously energized is their de-facto leader, Hongjoong. He moves forward with ferocity, a tinge of madness in his eyes.
To his left, Yeosang stumbles, nearly falling onto the sand below. Wooyoung reaches out for him, a second too slow, but luckily San reacts quicker, catching him by the arm. The exhaustion has begun to take its toll. Everyone comes to a stop, nervous energy flowing between them. Everyone except Hongjoong, that is. Seonghwa, the eldest of the group and the one with the most power after their leader, places a hand on his shoulder.
“We need to rest, Joong. Look at the kids—they’re exhausted. Yeosang almost collapsed.”
‘The kids.’ Wooyoung frowns, the endearment not sparking the same joy that it used to. Seonghwa and Hongjoong may only be a year older than the rest of them—two in Jongho’s case—but they’ve always referred to them that way. Wooyoung used to find it cute, often teasing them about how they acted like an old married couple. He supposes that the recent distaste for the nickname comes from the fact that Hongjoong hasn’t been the same ever since he told him about his dream.
It takes a moment for Hongjoong to comprehend what Seonghwa said, thoughts still elsewhere. Yet once his eyes find Yeosang, he immediately acquiesces, apologizing for not stopping sooner. His entire demeanor seems to soften, making him seem more like himself. Wooyoung already feels like he can breathe better because of it.
“Hopefully we aren’t too far from a Dweller community,” Hongjoong says, taking out his compass. “Let’s go.”
The Dune Dwellers are natives of Eden, having found ways to thrive in even the most unfavorable conditions. They aren’t particularly fond of outsiders, regarding any so-called adventurers as naive and stupid more than anything else. They often find the remains of the less fortunate, bodies lost to the sand. Dwellers are some of the only people who know how to navigate the desert and survive, but even they won’t wander into it aimlessly, searching for a treasure that may or may not exist.
Luckily, it isn’t long until they find one of their communities with Hongjoong’s guidance. Tracking their location becomes easier when you familiarize yourself with the signs the locals leave for one another, like a carving in a rock or some shimmering paint on a cactus. Things that are easy to miss when you don’t know what you’re looking for.
The town is small, cut through the middle by a bustling market area teeming with vendors trying to pawn off their goods. Wooyoung immediately feels some of his tension fade away, the lively environment making him feel more at home. You wouldn’t expect any place in such a barren landscape to be so full of life, but the Dwellers have a thriving community of their own despite their living conditions.
The sounds of haggling and bartering are music to his ears, and he quickly finds himself imbued with newfound energy, eager to start talking to people and fishing for information. Maybe he’ll be able to find some clues as to Pandora’s location, and Hongjoong can finally be appeased. He makes a quick plan with the others to meet at the town’s small inn at sunset before wandering off on his own.
The scent of spices, freshly baked bread, and cooking meat mingle in the air as he walks, making his mouth water. He stops at a stall selling juice made from prickly pears, kept cool by the waterbender who continuously refreezes the ice it sits upon. In exchange for a few copper coins, he buys a glass and greedily gulps it down.
He shivers, the cold drink a shock to his system in the hot, dry climate. It is both tangy and sweet and he hums, pleased, as he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and returns the glass to the merchant. Just as he goes to pull his hand back, the man grabs his wrist. Wooyoung's heart jumps in his chest and, though he tries to keep his composure, he is sure the shock shows on his face. Dwellers may not greet outsiders with open arms, but they’ve never shown any outward acts of aggression toward them before.
“What are you doing here, nakuto? You’re a long way from the Water Tribe.”
Wooyoung gently removes his arm from the man’s grasp, though he is no longer fearful. The term nakuto, a respectable term for ‘young one,’ brings back memories of his home and instantly puts him at ease. “How did you know I was a waterbender?”
“I don’t see many of my own kind out here; most are exiles from the Fire Nation or native sandbenders. Your necklace gives you away.”
Instinctively, Wooyoung reaches up, fingers caressing the delicate shells around his neck. He supposes it is reminiscent of the Water Tribe, but he’s worn it for years and barely remembers that it’s there. It was a gift from his brother, a good luck charm given to him when he left for the Fire Nation seven years ago.
The man continues, “Did something happen to your Tribe, boy? It’s not safe out here.”
“No, it’s not like that. I’m here with a group of other benders—we’re looking for the eternal library, Pandora.”
“Pandora,” the man scoffs. “A myth. You should turn back while you still can.”
“I’m afraid turning back isn’t an option. Come on, pakana. Surely you must know something.”
The man harrumphs, though Wooyoung can tell the use of the honorific pleases him by the slight smile that tugs at his lips. “You can call me Marok.”
“I’m Wooyoung.”
“Well, Wooyoung, there really isn’t that much information out there about Pandora; I probably don’t know much more than you do.” Marok creates a small stream of water from the melting ice, absent-mindedly spinning it around his fingers as he talks. “I’ll tell you what—go talk to ol’ Nadira. She’s a sandbender, and been here almost all her life. If anyone were to know something, it’d be her. Go west of town and look for a purple tent with yellow flags.”
“Thank you, Marok—I appreciate your help. Yui remoi.”
“Bayui jilok.”
Wooyoung nods, acknowledging Marok’s blessing, and starts to head west. The sun has begun to set, and he suspects he has less than an hour before he has to meet the others at the inn. Hopefully, whoever Nadira is, she’ll be cooperative. With the town being as small as it is, it doesn’t take him long to reach the outskirts, and the bright purple tent is easy to spot, a beacon of color amongst the sand. Just as he reaches the entrance, a girl pushes the flap aside, nearly bumping into him as she exits in a hurry.
“Sorry,” she mutters, barely acknowledging him as she rushes back to town.
The hair on the back of Wooyoung’s neck stands up. He doesn’t get a good look at her face, but her voice and white robes… He stops himself, shaking away the uncomfortable feeling of familiarity. Her eerie similarity to the girl he’s been seeing in his dreams for the past few nights is of little importance. He’s not trusting his visions ever again and will do whatever he can to avoid those uncertain futures. He quickly enters the tent, ready to get some answers so that he and the others can leave this town and the girl behind come morning.
You rush past the boy entering the tent, barely sparing him a glance as you hurry back toward town. Your conversation with Nadira was unsatisfactory, to say the least. She couldn’t tell you much more than you already knew, which is that Pandora is near impossible to find and even harder to get into, especially as a non-bender. It’s rumored to be buried far under the sand, sealed shut by an elemental lock. However, she was surprised by the map you carried with you, saying she hadn’t ever known there to be someone who successfully cataloged all of Eden. She couldn’t confirm whether or not the entirety of it was correct, though she did verify that certain locations lined up with her own knowledge of the desert.
You relax your steps, an exasperated laugh slipping from your lips as you realize you were practically stomping out of frustration. You take a moment to center yourself; as tempting as it may be to sell the map to the nearest street vendor, you’ve traveled too long and too far to give up now. Freedom is nearly in your grasp—you can feel it. You will claw your way to it if you must.
Double-checking that the map is secure inside your sling bag, you tighten the strap around your torso and head through the doors of the inn. The atmosphere is much livelier now that it’s late afternoon, with talking and laughter nearly drowning out the small band playing in the corner. The bar area seems to be where most people are congregating, chugging down mead and ale. The one serving maid is busy juggling orders from all directions, delivering filled mugs to rowdy drinkers who seem to enjoy cheering each other on for every sip taken.
As you weave through the crowded tables in search of a seat, you can’t help but notice a group of travelers that stand out from the crowd. You could sense their disharmony from a mile away—two members seem to be locked in a heated argument, heads close together as they speak in hushed voices. A few of the others seem to be playing a drinking game that involves making silly gestures and mimicking one another while one boy gazes off into the distance, lost in thought. Your interest peaked, you take a seat at the bar, right next to a man who has several empty tankards in front of him. He doesn’t seem too inebriated, but surely he’s drunk enough that his lips will be loose.
You place a few coins on the counter, ordering two drinks. You slide one to the man to capture his attention and nod in the group's direction, asking, “So, what do you know about the new guys in town?”
The man eyes you, scrutinizing your appearance. He must see something that he likes because he decides to indulge you, taking the ale in hand and relaxing further into his seat. “Heard from the barkeep that they’re some adventurers tryna find the library of Pandora.” He huffs and takes a long drink before adding, “A buncha fools.”
You bristle, wanting to defend them as their goal seems to be the same as yours, but you stop yourself, not wanting to discourage the man from sharing more information. “I see. Are they benders?”
He nods. “Yeah, far as I know. One of ‘em is apparently tryna get some information outta Nadira.”
You think back to the boy you saw entering the tent and curse yourself for not paying more attention. You could have talked to him, asked him why he was seeing Nadira, and proposed some sort of alliance. Winning one man over would be easier than winning over seven all at once. But alas, that seems to be your only option. Taking one last swig of your ale, you hop off the bar stool and give the man a two-finger salute.
“Thanks for your time—enjoy the rest of your night.”
He raises his mug and bids you farewell as you turn around, steeling your nerves as you march right up to the group of benders. One of the quarreling men who dons a head of striking red hair notices you first, his eyes instantly narrowing upon your approach. He slides closer to the others, almost protective in his movements, seemingly forgetting his previous argument.
“Can I help you?”
His voice is steady, laced with none of the heat you had expected. Instead, his words are cold, punctuated in a way that cuts you like a knife. However, you refuse to let him intimidate you.
“Yes, actually. I heard you were looking for Pandora.”
He quirks an eyebrow. “Why is that of any interest to you?”
“I’m looking for it too.”
“And?”
You grit your teeth, his standoffish attitude grating on your nerves. The man he was fighting with places a hand on his arm and steps slightly in front of him, greeting you with a smile. You can immediately feel the difference in his aura, the gentleness radiating off of him. He is the water to the red-headed man’s fire. Perhaps literally.
“Sorry, Hongjoong is just a bit… on edge lately. I’m Seonghwa.”
He takes a moment to introduce each of the others before asking for your name in return. You’re surprised to find that they’re a pretty well-balanced group, with at least one bender for each element. That will definitely come in handy when it comes to the elemental lock. You almost can’t believe your luck; after all this time, maybe things are finally turning around in your favor.
Yunho, an airbender who was a part of the group playing the drinking game earlier, chimes in. “So, you’re looking for Pandora too?”
You nod. “That’s right. I think we can help each other.” You reach into your bag and wrap your fingers around the map. “You see, I—”
“Wooyoung!”
You’re interrupted by San, a dimpled firebender, who gets up to excitedly greet the missing member of their party; Wooyoung must be the boy you bumped into earlier. Now that you have a moment to actually look at him, you suppose that he’s quite beautiful, with a sharp nose and full lips. His hair is like nothing you have ever seen before—silver on top with blue ends, comparable only to how it looks when the light of the moon meets the sea.
Your lips barely part to greet him when he turns to you, eyes ablaze with hatred. “What is she doing here?”

Undertale Playing On A Minecraft Server!
This is Post-Pacifist, by the way.
Frisk:
Probably the one who created the server, let's be real. They're also the one who introduced the monsters to Minecraft in the first place.
They sometimes like to play in creative mode, but I bet they're willing to take on some of the hardest Minecraft challenges for kicks. Sometimes to the detriment of others on the server.
They're likely to play along when Alphys wants to roleplay. A well-behaved child.
Spends time with everyone as equally as possible! They love everyone on the server, so of course they would wanna do that!
Shows everyone the ropes and gives them tips. They help out Asgore the most.
Sometimes they like to play survival properly with Papyrus and Undyne, sometimes they like to troll them with Sans. They're kind of a wild card when it comes to that.
Since they're the host, they're always on the server when it's running.
Toriel:
She doesn't play on the server that much - she's often too busy with grading homework and taking care of the school. But when she does join, it's a nice treat.
Because she doesn't play as often, she's further behind than most of the other players on the server. Luckily, Frisk and Papyrus are kind enough to supply her with materials and food.
I'm sure she would love to build a pretty cottage in a forest biome, surrounded by a nice farm and do her own thing.
Sticks by either Frisk or Sans. Often tries to reign them in when they're taking their pranks too far. Sometimes she even distracts Sans while Papyrus and Undyne are doing something important. She's an unsung hero in that regard.
Although, on occasion, she might be prone to a little bit of pranking herself... Mostly on Sans, because he needs a taste of his own medicine.
Sans:
TROLL.
Trolly troll troll trolly troll trolly troll troll!
No, but seriously, this guy is a menace! He steals important materials, messes up Papyrus' organised chests, knocks players off of cliffs, you name it, he's gonna do it.
Well... apart from griefing. Sans wouldn't go that far. He's not mean-spirited.
He also uses cheats. Like, all the time. It's a miracle he hasn't been kicked off the server yet. Probably because Frisk is too nice to kick him and besides, he's one of their best friends!
Obviously targets Undyne and Papyrus the most, but sometimes he actually stops trolling and helps them out.
Possibly has the dumbest skin on the server, let's be real.
He likes it when someone gets back at him! He finds it very humerus!
If someone genuinely gets upset at him, though, Sans will back down. As stated earlier, he's not mean-spirited.
Plays very often, in fact, he's almost always there when the group plays! What can I say? He just likes spending time with his friends.
Papyrus:
Absolutely adores playing Minecraft, and would pester Frisk (kindly) to start up the server so he can play.
He likes to set himself challenges so he would never get bored. He'll defeat all the bosses, then make a challenge to defeat them again and again... IN THE SAME AREA.
Will explore every inch of the server and build landmarks (statues of himself, farms, buildings etc) to keep track of where he's been.
Likes to keep all his chests organised and tidy, and fumes when someone (cough cough Sans cough cough) messes them up.
Rages easily, especially when Sans is around. It takes a lot for him to rage quit, though.
I don't know why, but something tells me Papyrus would be good at redstone. He could use it to make cool Minecraft puzzles! And then test them with his friends! Isn't that cute?
He likes to play along with Alphys' roleplays when Undyne isn't around. He's sweet like that.
Would go out of his way to ration every resource equally and keep some extra for Toriel. Iron, food, heck, even diamonds and netherite. He's very generous.
How often does he play? Pretty often, actually! He and Sans are a bit of a package deal, so when one shows up, the other inevitably will. I forgot to mention that before... Well, unless he's at work. Papyrus is no slacker.
Undyne:
Loves ALL challenges! She's in it for the thrills and would go for every boss and achievement.
She's a pretty intense player. She rages easily and is very reckless, which leads to a lot of deaths and a lot of lost resources. Chill, Undyne.
She doesn't really spend a lot of time building things, so she just leaves the building to Papyrus and Alphys. Thanks to them, she no longer lives in a dirt hole!
Sometimes she will rage quit, only to come back 2 minutes later. It happens so often that everyone is used to it now. "Oh, Undyne quit? Maybe this time she'll- Oh, look, she's back again."
She'll roleplay with Alphys, especially cool anime battles and stuff like that. She has a bit of a guilty pleasure for this. And besides, who could say no to Alphys?
Often sticks by Papyrus since the two are best buds. Though she's just as likely to go adventuring on her own.
She doesn't play as often as Frisk and the brothers, but she's very frequent and plays like 80% of the time... ish? When possible, of course. She's busy too, you know!
Alphys:
She's the type who loves to roleplay. She even builds settings for them.
Heavily inspired by anime. She actually likes to be in Creative Mode most of the time for two reasons. 1. So she can get all the resources she needs to build her humble town. 2. Because she doesn't like the creepy mobs coming out at night and attacking her.
She hates creepers and phantoms with a passion. Creepers destroyed her builds more than once and jumpscare her easily, and she's the one the others have to coax into bed because she insists on building and gathering materials all night, so phantoms are definitely gonna spawn and annoy her.
Building and roleplaying isn't all she does. Like Papyrus, I'd imagine Alphys would pick up on redstone very easily. She's also the one who creates the best material farms so she can gather resources quickly.
Occasionally, she will join Undyne and Papyrus on their challenges.
Avoids Sans most of the time... For obvious reasons. The two definitely still talk to each other, though. No hard feelings.
She doesn't play too often, but she has a lot more free time than Undyne does now that she's on the surface. And let's be honest, she's kind of a shut in already. She'll only join the server when she's up for it, as in, mentally.
Asgore:
Oh, sweet sweet Asgore.
The poor soul, he fumbles most of the time and doesn't know how to play. He dies the most often, but the sweetie is a good sport about it.
Thanks to Frisk, he gets the hang of the basics, but there's still a lot he doesn't know. And to be honest, he doesn't have a lot of time to get to know them, since I imagine he would be busy with other important things.
Will gladly roleplay with Alphys. He doesn't usually take part in the adventures. Not unless someone drags him into it.
He's a pushover and just follows everyone else.
Doesn't play much at all. Like Toriel, it's only on rare occasions, but when he does play, it's a treat.
Other characters:
Flowey - Used to play. Got banned because he was a lot like Sans, just 100X worse.
Monster Kid - They love playing Minecraft, and they like the server too! However, they also have a server of their own, so they just play on that most of the time. They love playing with Frisk and Papyrus, though!
Mettaton - Doesn't play at all. Sorry, darling! He's busy travelling the world and doing tours! He's got fans to please!
Napstablook - Also busy supporting Mettaton with his tours, so they don't play at all. However, they have played ONCE and never again. They didn't know how to play, and just gave up after one little mistake in typical Napstablook fashion. Bless their soul.

if were talking tv shows and movies, i find that while most portrayals of trans men arent as outright obviously violent, the narrative clearly dislikes what theyre doing and thinks theyre making a bad decision. take max from the l word, a show that clearly cares more about how transitioning will ""hurt"" other people and the beauty of being ""female"" than caring about a trans man getting to be happy.
i mean, "disgusting predator" isnt the only way to be treated badly, and famously trans men arent really depicted in mainstream media, and a lack of representation isnt suddenly good because its trans men. i guess its a grass is always greener on the other side situation.
I don't even think it's that! We're in a new age of maximum casual queer representation across all media, and sure, at this point it's kinna still somewhere between "oh, hey, television is starting to have Black characters appear on-screen" and the ideal you see more of in smaller works, but regardless it's almost always either non-binary people (I imagine because they're easier to signal) and trans women. I've talked about this a few times before but it's always blown me away by how many transmasc people I've been surrounded by relative to how often they appear in media - even the smaller works.
I'm also like, not entirely sure what media everyone is watching. Did people start accidentally subscribing to The Daily Caller or what? It's hard to think of "mainstream media" that's still full-on Buffalo Bill (and even Silence of the Lambs was more a problem for it's misunderstood impact than it's actual content.)
Even like, The L Word with trans men, I'm not denying that was a major landmark in queer media, but between that and the examples I see people give for negative portrayals of trans women, it feels like people are focusing way too hard on the past and not stuff that's come out in like...the last decade and a half. Which makes this whole thing about pitting representation against each other crazy to me.
Like, maybe I'm wrong? But literally I saw this post about how bad transfems had it in media and every single thing either came out in the 20th century, was a television show (Family Guy, South Park) that began in the 20th century and is mainly watched by middle aged people who think they're still counter-culture, or one movie that was released in the past decade but was a hyper obscure box-office bomb.
So right now it's like, okay, even if we accept trans women did previously have it worse, if we did grant that, it feels like that's much less of an issue now and that trans men being underrepresented is more of a problem that needs addressing instead of obsessing over boomer shit?
Except like, no one was even really saying "we need to prioritize transmascs in media" in the first place, right? Like that anon just came in and was like, transmascs have it so easy because their media representation is so good and ours is so bad, and it's like, okay, well, let's examine that if you're going to bring it to the table completely unprompted.
IDK if I'm out of line here but it sincerely puzzles me.

Patriot Games
Defacing Lady Liberty

“You keep doing that, and you’ll rip it off.”
Homelander closes his eyes, his jaw tightens and his hand stills. Of course, she’d find him; the bitch had the same powers as he did.
She was like a bloodhound, purposely sniffing him out to come and anger him for fun.
And of all the moments she could have chosen, it would have been when he was relieving stress while standing on the Statue of Liberty. It was not the most respectful endeavour, but he needed to be alone. He needed time to think and, more importantly, rid himself of the tension in his body.
“You need to be gentle here; let me show you.”
He sucks in a breath when he feels her hand wrap around his cock, moving slowly at first while she finds a rhythm. Whimpers build in his throat, her other arm sneaking around his waist as her body presses against his back, making him feel hotter.
“I never thought the Homelander would be so disrespectful,” she coos. “Or maybe he has a crush on ladies of liberation. Either way, I’m here now; I’ll look after you.”
She’s teasing him with long, languid strokes, ignoring how his hips move with purpose, in desperate need of release so she’ll go away.
Just relax, tiger, and let her take care of you; that’s what she’s here for.
Of course, his inner voice would say that - there’s some connection between them.
But he doesn’t know what it is—at least, not yet. He’s been digging and trying to find any dirt on Patriot, whose real name is Jolene Godwin. Yet all he finds is information already readily available. There’s something she’s trying to hide, and he’s determined to find it out.
“You enjoy tuning me out. It can't be because I'm ugly, so it must be something else.”
I can’t stand you.
Her other hand strokes down his abdomen, coming to rest on his naked hip, those perfectly manicured fingers digging into his flesh, making him hiss. Pleasure will always come with pain, whether inflicted on him or her.
“You can do whatever the fuck you want,” she whispers, her lips pressed to his ear, sending shivers down his spine. “And they’ll all love you.”
The words warp his brain - it's one thing to say it himself, but to hear it come from those cherry-red lips is perverse and obscene, an affront to God himself.
But the only man in the sky is Homelander.
She runs the tongue over the shell of his ear, letting out soft, breathy moans, rilling him up. She knows how to play him like a fiddle; right now, he's more than willing to let her.
Fuck, just smell that ripe cunt.
Her scent is getting to him, clouding all sense of judgement. He’s paralysed, unable to do anything but thrust into her hand as the praise drips from her luscious lips.
“The World's Greatest Hero,” she tugs on his earlobe with her teeth. “Come, let me give you a better view.”
Her hand moves from his hip to his abdomen, pulling him backwards until he no longer stands on the crown but hovers in front of the Statue of Liberty’s face. He knows exactly what she’s about to make him do. This was nothing short of desecration, and by Vought’s patriotic duo no less, but he can’t deny his excitement.
America’s Greatest Hero cumming on the ultimate symbol of American freedom? Surely, that’s the pinnacle of patriotism.
For it’s not this husk of corroded copper that keeps America free, it’s him. It’s always been him, and it always will be him.
Homelander.
And with your sweet little Patriot by your side, you’ll be unstoppable, tiger.
Her sinister little giggle brings him back to reality, her hand tightening around his cock, stroking him faster as his breathing heaves, head lulling back on her shoulder and eyes scrunched closed.
“No,” she whines, and he can practically hear her pout. “It’s rude not to look at someone when you’re about to cum on their face."
She knows.
Delicately reaching into his hair, she tips his head forward, holding him in position. He opens his eyes automatically, staring directly at Lady Liberty as the rhythm he’s been so blindly following falls to pieces. Her lips ghost over his neck, her lower lip dragging along his skin.
“You’re close. Why don’t you show her just how much of a good boy you are.”
The dam breaks, and his eyes flare, an immense howl ripped from his lips when he comes hard, coating Lady Liberty right between the eyes. She strokes him through the throes of his orgasm, milking him for every last drop before eventually relinquishing control.
He can’t even bring himself to look at her, and he doesn’t even need to; the obscene noise alone is enough to tell him that she’s licked his cum off her fingers. It only amplifies the shame he feels for allowing her to touch him again.
“Mmm,” she hums with satisfaction. “That was outstanding; I’ll see you at home, darling.”
Suddenly, she’s gone, leaving him with a strange, empty feeling.
It’s 3 am.
Patriot pours herself a glass of whiskey, downing it instantly and pouring another. When she was a child in the lab, they’d always wake her up at this time to get a few hours of work done before Homelander woke. Then they’d abandon her for him.
She’s on her third when Homelander saunters in, standing in the middle of the room and clearing his throat.
“What do you want?” Her noxiously sweet persona is gone, replaced with bitter resentment.
“I like to cuddle,” he says reluctantly, shifting uncomfortably on his feet. “After… that.”
She scoffs, downing the alcohol, closing her eyes as it stings her throat. “Then go and find someone. I’m busy.”
By the time she’s poured her fourth drink, his hand covers the top of the glass, stopping her from lifting it. She chews the inside of her cheek, trying to tug the glass out of his grip, but he won’t let go.
“Fuck you.” The stench of alcohol on her breath makes him grimace. “Why don’t you go bother someone else?”
He grabs her jaw, digging his fingers into her cheeks and forcing her to look at him. Their eyes flare crimson; they’re prepared to laser each other’s faces off.
One of the many disadvantages of having the same powers.
“We already have one drunk on the Seven,” he hisses. “We don’t need another one.”
Fine. Take it from me; you’ve taken everything else.”
His eyes flash with confusion, only to be replaced with annoyance. His hand releases her jaw in favour of her neck, squeezing tightly but enough to cut off her air supply. His eyes flitter between hers and her lips, giving away his thoughts.
“No kissing,” she spits out.
With his other arm secure around her waist, he drags her towards the bed, throwing her with very little care. She doesn’t move, putting up no resistance when he climbs onto the bed, settling down partially on top of her, burying his face in her neck.
“Cuddle me,” he demands.
When she doesn't immediately obey, he huffs, pulls her arms around him, and grips her biceps to hold them in place. Eventually, she holds him, a satisfied noise leaving his lips as his hands move away from her biceps, his arms wrapping around her.
“See?” He purrs. “Isn’t this nice? You were so keen to cuddle the first time.”
That wasn’t me.
She doesn’t bother responding; she lies there and lets him do whatever. His hands stroke down her sides and grip the underside of her thighs, wrapping her legs around him.
It's not clear if he wants to cuddle or fuck; she's not in the mood to do either.
“I hate you,” Homelander whispers, pressing himself closer, almost desperate to fuse their bodies together.
“The feeling’s very mutual,” she replies, turning her head away and slowly disassociating.
Faint snoring slowly fills her ears, signalling that he’s fallen asleep, but she’ll remain awake, staring off into nothing until the sun rises. Then she’ll paint her face and adopt that saccharine grin, pretending everything is okay.
Until 3 am the next day.

how to design: guidebooks
Okay, so I’ll just be straight forward, there will be little about coding here and way more about the look, mental models and navigation design tips to make your guidebook more effective. After navigating a few rp sites and making MANY mistakes with guidebooks, I decided to make my own guide to making effective guidebooks for your rp site with all that I’ve learned.
First of all, let’s do some thinking here. The guidebook is the first place the players will be looking at on your website to decide whether or not they will be playing. Usually there is A LOT of information, about the settings, factions, powers, you name it. From a player's perspective, it's usually pretty overwhelming and exciting to go through this brand new universe they are emerging to. So it’s our job to make this experience as easy as possible.
How do we do that? Well, it’s mostly about navigation. How will you decide to guide your users through the site? What visual cues will you be giving them?
When it comes to online navigation, its very similar to navigating yourself through a physical place. You will usually use landmarks, visual cues, and signage. You will need to understand three things: where you were, where you are and where you want to be. Google maps is great at that, making it so easy that you can use the tiny dot to know which direction you are going (which is a life saver for someone like me who has no sense of direction).
What does that mean in a web scenario? Here are my five tips on making better designs:
Link states
Different states for left menu links (default, hover and active) will help the user understand where he is and where they can click next, making it look interactive and clickable. Something as simple as making active links bold or a different colour goes a long way.
Buttons & Spacing
Have you got buttons within the pages? Links that connect to the fc page or other pages within the website? Make them stand out! Sometimes, links get lost because they look too much like a simple text. So instead of blending it into the text, make that link stand out. You can do it by adding an underline (if you want to be subtle) or make the link look like an actual button.
Also, don’t forget to give proper spacing. Sometimes when there’s a lot of content, we feel the need to cram it all up to make it fit - but that can be confusing to the user. Make sure you provide enough space around the links and buttons to make them distinguishable and easy to read.
Other navigation Methods
Sometimes there is just a LOT of information. I mean a lot, and I’m always so impressed about how detailed some universes are - it's amazing. So, if that’s the case, perhaps consider other navigation methods, such as breadcrumbs, top navigation or a sub navigation bar. You may even go as far as drop-downs. Just remember to keep it consistent (more about that below) so the user always knows how to go around.
Location
Stick with familiar locations! This one I haven’t seen a lot, but thought I’d include. Don’t make the users relearn how to navigate! Stick to familiar locations - if you are trying to innovate, think of other ways that can help the user instead of confusing them. Top and left navigation are the most used for guidebooks.
Consistency and organisation
Last but not least. The way the information is organised is VERY important. I cannot emphasise this enough. The left navigation bar should always be the same, the items shouldn’t change and there should be clear indicators in the headings to show where the users are and how to go back. Headings should be the same all around. So, this one goes to both coders and site staff - organise your material. The hierarchy and grouping of the content will help to determine the structure of your guidebook.
That’s it! I hope you find this useful, and if you’d like more posts like this let me know - what kind of content would you like to see on how to design?
Any questions, ask box is always open! Would love to hear from other coders what their thoughts and tips are too <3

Some questions. I’m not an anti, but a Taekooker who’s just trying to add things up…
- 2019 Taekook confuses me. Everything seems fine in non-company content, but then Taehyung goes on vacation with Wooga. Do you ever think the tattoo artist thing was JK acting out in retaliation for Taehyung choosing to spend time with Wooga? I saw some speculating that Jungkook and Taehyung spent time on that vacation together, but that doesn’t seem to add up to the way Jungkook was intently listening to Taehyung in the van during the first ep of BV 4. I know the speculation about the Jungkook stuff being to cover other stuff - and feel that Jungkook was being authentic during his final BV 4 interview when he said that he won’t let ARMY down, but let’s be honest he has to hide everything in his life, including his real personality and relationships. You’ve speculated that Taekook could have an open relationship-while I think that would be very tricky and they seem so enmeshed and possessive-part of me still wonders if they do. I am honestly not trying to make Jungkook look bad or make others question Taekook. I just can’t wrap my head around this.
- Thinking of the future, Taehyung and JK will get even more famous. I think it will be harder, not easier for them to be seen spending time together in public. Taehyung posted himself in Itaewon this weekend - where Jungkook is building his house, which I find intriguing. I’m not sure a landmark mansion like that in that part of Seoul lends itself to more privacy for their comings and goings. While I do think they’ll always be in a glass closet, I also feel they’ll have less to lose after military service so maybe they could be more free. I honestly hope they have other property together someplace where they can be themselves and have some anonymity.
- I’ve thought long and hard about what Jungkook and Taehyung have said about their lives and what they wanted when they were slightly younger. Jungkook has always been pretty clear about living alone. He says it during one of their photoshoots where he also says he’s going to have white curtains just like the ones in the studio they are taking pictures at in his apartment. Taehyung has alluded to “his son” many times. He’s not talking about Tannie because he said he was Yeontan’s father but became his brother when Yeontan went to live with his parents due to his schedule. Anyway, adopting as a single man is impossible in SK or from Japan….I remember the Japanese orphanage Taehyung visited. If he does want children with Kookie they will most likely need to figure that out in another country.
Anyway, seriously, I read your blog and hope you answer these questions in the spirit I’ve asked them. Again, not an anti, but someone who’s invested in Taekook and trying to think logically and critically about the questions I have. Thanks.
Hi there,
I'll try to help as best I can...
"Do you ever think the tattoo artist thing was JK acting out in retaliation for Taehyung choosing to spend time with Wooga?"
No, I think in 2019 Tae was dealing with a lot of stuff (possible depression and exhustion from the Love Yourself tour) and the time off was used to help reset that so spending time with friends was part of dealing with that.
"Jungkook and Taehyung spent time on that vacation together"
You have to remember, Tae's parents live/have a home in Geoje Island (the place JK was alleged to be caught with that tattooist), and Busan (where JK's parents live) is literally next to the island. It's not a stretch to assume that JK and Tae might have spent time there before Tae went to Jeju with Wooga.
"... doesn’t seem to add up to the way Jungkook was intently listening to Taehyung in the van during the first ep of BV 4."
Perhaps he simply wanted to know what and how much Tae would say.
"I know the speculation about the Jungkook stuff being to cover other stuff - and feel that Jungkook was being authentic during his final BV 4 interview when he said that he won’t let ARMY down"
I think a lot of that was the tattoos rather than the dating scandal, considering how quickly BH shot down the rumour
"You’ve speculated that Taekook could have an open relationship"
Never said that but think, if it were the case, it's no big deal.
"Taehyung and JK will get even more famous. I think it will be harder, not easier for them to be seen spending time together in public."
Janet Jackson (at the height of her fame) was able to high her marriage for 8 years. Similarly, Jodie foster was able to keep her relationship secret for several years. Point is celebrities, if they truly want to, will be able to find a way to keep things secret from the public. I feel, there are some older celebs (particularly still active Gen 2) out their that have been in long term relationships.
"Taehyung posted himself in Itaewon this weekend - where Jungkook is building his house, which I find intriguing. I’m not sure a landmark mansion like that in that part of Seoul lends itself to more privacy for their comings and goings."
The things to remember about Itaewon is who already lives there…
Most Chaebols, Foriegn diplomats and businessmen, and some of the most high profile Korean celebs, politicians who wish to remain private in their personal lives.
People who choose to live in Itaewon do so because it has some the highest security in Seoul and the ability to keep their private lives extremely private. Yes, you can walk round the streets of Itaewon, but literally on every major intersection are security stations. JK's house is next to two foreign Ambassador residences and a Chaebol. I think JK's privacy will be greater there than his current house.
"Jungkook has always been pretty clear about living alone."
Well he's a typical introvert, so yeah.
"Taehyung has alluded to “his son” many times… adopting as a single man is impossible in SK or from Japan….I remember the Japanese orphanage Taehyung visited. If he does want children with Kookie they will most likely need to figure that out in another country."
Well, since 2022, single people have the right to adopt so long as they meet certain requirements, and in the eyes of SK law Tae and JK are single people, so I think anything is possible.
I hope this helps.

I'm like 75% sure a few of them were mentioned in posts before but I can't find it for the life of me now, (tumblr search system my beloathed) but which towns do all the main guys live in/around?
I pointed their locations out loosely, like maybe a year ago, but as things have developed (and especially since drawing out that recent map!) they've sort of shimmied a little.
I have a version of the map that lists all of their home towns, though:
Many things to note:
Hannah, just a couple weeks before the Fault, moved from her hometown up north west with her step brother, to the town of Corlane (a town a couple hours out from Tim's hometown Little Stone)
Doltage is Tanner & April's hometown, but they have been moved into Leon's home in Lystrike for a few years now.
The Talpian Dominion is Gary & Rachel's homeland, but Gary has since fled years ago and ended up in Little Stone. Rachel still lived within, before the Fault, but frequently left to the overworld because of her unusual affinity towards it.
Elliot's hometown is off map south east, further into the Deadlands, but he is often a roommate to Lauren, who's house floats and moves location often. I say 'often', because sometimes when he is not needed, he will bunk back at his parent's place.
Bonnie comes from way off map, on another continent entirely, and travels semi-often. She tends to settle down anywhere for 10 to 25 years at a time, and currently lives in an abandoned castle a few hours south of Lystrike.
In the cluster of villages that Michael, Samantha, Debbie, and Vilmr live in, they each live separately to all 4. Neesh is Samantha's home, Fellhothe is Vilmr's, Luhaven is Michael's, and Meliipelli is Debbie's.
One other thing, in case it isn't clear: On this map, dots for towns are smaller or more insignificant towns, whereas stars for towns are larger or sometimes capitals of their respective lands. And diamonds are landmarks.
#id be very happy to answer any land related questions since were kinda on that topic#its been something ive been really working at lately and so i have a lot of errmmmm#info on any given town. landmark. province/territory. etc :3#brambleramble

Have you told us anything about your character Jay yet?
Im going to assume you're talking about the sea dragon, seeing thats the only one I specified their name to be Jay. (I have a bad memory when it comes to names, so normally, I default to the names Jay and Lilly for my oc's)
Ive not talked too much abt them, but I can definitely give some more info!! (After the cut)
2 things to remember:
The world they live in does have magic.
The thing is, is that magic normally comes in the form of enchanted objects and is rarely able to be used directly by a creature.
To start basic info:
Jay is a sea dragon who does possess a special illusion magic that allows them to not only show visual illustrations but also audible and sensory. That means that they are effectively able to create a human illusion version of themselves that can interact normally with the world. That illusion can allow Jay to see through the illusions eyes, but it does not allow them to feel what its feeling. They also are not able to simultaneously move in their normal form and their illusion form.
Also, due specifically to their species, they can control if they have stomach acid or not.
Background about the world:
Humans were forced to live in underwater dome like places due to the lack of land to live on. The domes are just a little air bubble that's held together with magic.
Storyline:
Jay met their friends because their now friend Dave, who had inherited a sub from his late dad (ooo foreshadowing, is the dead dad important lol?), gathered a bunch of his friends to all go kinda "monster hunting," aka trying to find new sea creatures. The problem is that none of them know shit about sea creatures. That's where Jay comes in. Jay may not know the names of the creatures, but they will tell you whatever you need to know about it besides that. Jay ends up finding them through a little flier that the group posted asking for assistance in identifying sea creatures.
Eventually, Jay gets close to the group and eventually becomes really good friends with all of em.
To get food while also helping their friends, Jay keeps their mouth open at the entrance to their home so that fish get caught so they had an easy meal.
One day, while out exploring, Jay realized a little too late that they were horriblely close to where their home is. (They didn't notice cause in their normal form they are absoluntly fricking ginormous, and the landmarks they see at their normal size are harder to see when tiny) they are not able to keep up the illusion and move their physical body at the same time, so ofc they try to stear their friend away, but being curious little shits they keep going anyway.
They find the entrance to Jays home and end up going a decent way down Jays throat before Jay just opts to drop their illusion.
Jay coughes to push their friends out of their throat and slinks away from their friends and back into their home.
After gaining their footing again, the friends are like, where tf did Jay go??? It's an enclosed sub??? Huh??? They end up following the tunnel where "the strange creature," aka Jay, went.
They get into this really big ass cave with light flowing in from many small holes in the roof, allowing sunlight in. They then see a poor sobbing Jay, just absolutely devastated, believing their friends hate them and are afraid of them now.
Their fiends dont know its Jay, and they excitedly start to chatter among themselves and grab their cameras.
Jay hears the noise and move to look at it, and upon seeing its their friends the press themselves as far against the wall as they can. Jays friends, however, freeze, unsure how to know if this new creature is friendly.
Still trembling, Jay quietly apologies, tears starting to fall from their eyes again.
Finally, at hearing Jay speak, their friends finally figure out its them and go to comfort them.
A couple of "Filler Episodes" Lol:
1. The group is exploring (after knowing Jay is not human), and they run into a large creature. Jay tries to fight off the creature, but it is difficult since they also have to protect their friends. After the other creature almost hurts the submarine Jay's friends were in, they decide 'fuck it' and just swallow their friends, sub and all.
2. Jays friends go on a mini field trip down Jays throat and to their stomach.
3. Jay has not been able to taste most food since its such a small amount that their tastebuds dont detect it. Once Jays friends find that out, they set out to buy a heck ton of stuff so Jay can taste some good food. They end up making enough soup to fill a 2 story house to the brim, and fortunately, it was enough for Jay to get one bite of soup.

I have an epic tale that is my day yesterday. I think it would be good for me to write it all out as if someone was going to read it, but in a place where it will be lost as soon as I post it. Tumblr is the perfect black hole for this space shot.
I should provide context, but it would only make the story longer and I just don’t have the energy. Okay, maybe a little.
Friday my dad, who is 78, said he’d gotten a voicemail, his oncologist wanted to see him for a checkup at noon Monday. Bad weather was in the forecast for Monday morning, but weathermen are notoriously unreliable so I just said something about if it’s icy you’ll have to reschedule. He was like, of course, and we went about our lives.
Today is Monday and I woke up to a world covered in a good quarter inch of ice. Nothing awful, we didn’t lose power, just enough to make the dog not want to go outside to do her business. (I made her go outside against her wishes, for which I was glared at while she crouched and pooped, but it wasn’t in the house.)
It crossed my mind to check in with dad, but no one would go out in this weather, right? Yeah, you see where this is going.
I got a text around noon. Dad had skidded into a ditch and couldn’t get the car out. Help. I ground my teeth a little, but managed to refrain from texting questions about what the hell he was doing in his car on a day like today. That wouldn’t be helpful, especially after he said it had really scared him. So okay. I glance out the window and my little Fiat is encased in ice. Dad never really fit comfortably in it anyhow. I call my oldest son who just moved to town from Washington state after mustering out of the Navy. He says his 4WD truck is in the garage and he’ll come pick me up.
Oh, I forgot. I have to go because I’m the one with the AAA (thanks @l82theparty) and I’ll need to show them my card before they’ll pull him out of the ditch.
Hey, it would be smart to call AAA now and get the ball rolling since there are probably a shit ton of people in ditches today. So I call dad for a more specific location so I can tell AAA where to find him. He says his GPS just keeps giving him the street number, which is one I don’t recognize. Can he give me a cross street? No. Can he give me a landmark? The route between his house and the doctor’s office is pretty easy to recognize, we’ve done it a thousand times for two rounds of chemo and one round of radiation. No landmarks, just this street number. Okay, we’ll try sharing his location. Nope, that is way too technologically advanced. On the up side it killed time until my son showed up in his truck to collect me.
Some more questions with dad on the phone and we’re still no closer to understanding where he is. So I plug the street into the map just to get an idea and that’s when things begin to go sideways. This street shows up outside of town. Way outside of town. It’s between towns so that I can’t even tell you which little town it’s close to because it’s really just not. We follow the bouncing ball down the highway, past the casino on the outskirts of town, past the toll road, out to a place we’ve never heard of. It took us an hour to get this far, for the record.
I’ve decided my GPS has screwed us so I call dad again, confident we’re going to have to go back into town and comb the streets between the cancer center and dad’s house. But I ask him about the landscape he’s in, and he’s confirming everything sounds right. We drive up and down scary hills covered in ice, then some twisting roads also covered in ice, and Dad is on the phone saying that totally sounds right. To my son’s credit the truck only slipped on these roads a couple of times while he gritted his teeth and complained that he should have put something heavy in the truck bed.
We pass a dead end sign, and Dad doesn’t remember seeing one of those. I’m starting to believe we’re fucked. We pass another sign that says no outlet, and dad doesn’t remember it. My son gives me a look, and I shrug. Then we hit a patch of road that is a skating rink and the kid manages to slide himself onto a patch of grass as we both stare at my father’s car at the bottom of this icy hill in the middle of fucking nowhere. At least we found him, right?
Son and I slip and slide on foot down to the car where dad is fine, he’s got the heater on and the radio, just feels foolish and can’t get out because there’s a tree against the driver’s door. Because, dear reader who has made it this far, he’s not in a ditch. He skidded onto the side of the road where the land drops off into a ravine that was maybe 50 feet deep? I can’t say for sure because when I looked at his front tire and how close it was to the drop off it looked more like the Grand Canyon to me.
Okay dad, we’re not going to touch the car. You’re safe, don’t jostle yourself too much, I’m calling 911 for the first time in my life.
(Why is he in BFE? Oh, sorry, that’s Butt Fucking Egypt if you’re from around here. And I still don’t have an answer for that one.)
Meanwhile I look at the icy incline behind us and tell my son no tow truck is ever going to make it down that hill. A nice young Wagoner County Sheriff’s deputy shows up and his answer is to call a wrecker. I mention that no tow truck is ever going to make it down that hill and he gives me a look so I carefully inched my way back up the hill to sit in my son’s truck and wait.
About 20 minutes later it started to rain. About 30 minutes later it’s raining hard. Still raining hard another half hour or so later when the tow truck arrives on the scene.
Would you believe the tow truck driver said his boss won’t let him take his truck down that hill? He says he wouldn’t leave a person down there though (damn human of him) and the deputy, my son, and the tow truck driver trek down to Save Dad.
I watch from the top of the hill because they don’t need any women down there spouting truths and whatnot and getting in the way. I watch them pop the trunk and get my dad’s walker out. I’m standing in the pouring (so cold) rain watching through a layer of fog that has developed as shadowy figures hunch around the two open doors on the passenger side, I’m assuming they’re figuring out how to get dad out of the car on this side.
I can’t see, so I move over and step into a puddle of ice cold water. It’s not really integral to the story, except I was expecting to be pulling dad out of a suburban drainage ditch so I wore the wrong shoes. My nylon running shoes and my wonderful thick warm socks sucked up that icy water and held it like a lover. It was like the opposite of napalm; instead of fire sticking to my body it was ice cold water.
Meanwhile the boys have come far enough up the hill I can see they have dad sitting on the little bench on the walker and my son is walking backwards pulling it while the deputy and tow truck driver are each pushing a handlebar. My son falls down once, then gets up again. I’m not sure how, but they all manage to get back up that hill and get dad in the truck. It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things but now I know exactly how much cold rain is required to saturate my rain resistant coat.
The story ends with my son managing to get the truck turned around and safely off of the ice sheet it was resting on. We’re all home and dry and safe and warm. My girl cooked me dinner and made me a hot toddy and snuggled me in warm clothes and an electric blanket. Dad’s car has probably depleted its battery by now because we were all three sitting in the truck when my son asked if he should try to walk back down and turn off the hazard lights. We left it.
So, how was your day?

Next Steps
I finished watching all the Evangelion stuff that I had planned, but I find myself still trying to figure things out about the show. I planned to be done with NGE in April, but it's becoming clear that it's not done with me.
Yesterday, I was talking about this Folding Ideas video from 2013. That was back when Dan Olson was still doing the puppets, but I had seen the video before and purposely avoided it, because it was about Evangelion and I didn't want to get spoiled. The video offered some insightful commentary on EoE, but it also pushed the "Anno's Revenge" theory of the movie, and from what I've read on fan wikis, it seems to have been mostly discredited? I think? It could just be that the wiki editors have an agenda, but I suspect that agendas were what led to the "revenge" theory in the first place. Having two endings to the same story will invariably split the fandom. Each side prefers one ending over another, and they're naturally going to push theories to explain why the other ending exists.
Also, the fan wikis aren't always aligned with themselves. That's Lilith up at the top of this post, and I've read two different versions of what that thing is on her face.
It's a mask that was placed on her face when she was strapped to that cross by SEELE. That's why it bears the SEELE coat of arms: seven eyes over a triangle.
It's Lilith's face, or if it's a mask, it's her mask, originally. SEELE's coat of arms was inspired by Lilith's appearance.
This would just be an interesting bit of trivia, except there's two contradictory explanations here, and that leads me to wonder if both of them are bullshit someone made up on the fly. When I first saw the character, I assumed those craters on the "mask" were meant to resemble the moon, but one of the wiki articles I read suggested that it was just wear and tear on the surface, which sounds kind of cheap.
I could probably get to the bottom of a lot of these things, but it would take time that I don't have. I'm starting a re-read of Jojolion next week. The more I think about it, Neon Genesis Evangelion demands a deeper dive, and I'll have to do my homework and rewatch the whole thing now that I know how it ends.
This is probably just as well, since I did want to go through the Rebuild movies. There's four of them and I own the third on Blu-ray, so I might as well see it through. Mostly, I kept wondering when Asuka would get her eyepatch in the original series, and it never happened. Turns out that's a Rebuild thing. So there's still pop culture landmarks that I've yet to see.
The more I think about it, the more I begin to see that the true appeal to this thing is trying to make sense of it. People have called End of Evangelion the greatest animated film of all time, but that's crap. It's not even the best film with a Toei logo and characters who strangle each other.
I mean, it's no shame losing to the best, but let's be real here.
So the fascination clearly lies with the analysis. Watching the show was just the first step into a larger world. I wasn't prepared for that, but I can't just turn back either.
What I'm saying is that I'll return to this someday. I need to bone up on some of these commentaries, and try to sort fact from guesswork, and then see how far I've come. Then again, it's 2024 and I'm still touting Transformers the Movie as a cinematic masterpiece, so maybe I've been standing in place for four decades in a row. Well, I didn't need to look up why Grimlock is awesome, so not everything has to be so damn enigmatic...
#2024ngeliveblog#first prime... then ultra magnus... now you#it's a pity you autobots die so easily or i might have a sense of satisfaction now#then hot rod gently pats him on the cheek like a golden retriever and galvatron calms down and start weeping

Am I the only one who thinks Shiver Star and Forgotten Land both can be post-apocalyptic human planets and finds the multiverse theory kinda... stupid? I mean it's entirely possible that each Kirby game has a couple hundreds of years between them, and even if that's not the case, it's still entirely possible that Shiver Star was some form of Earth 2,or some people from the Forgotten Land settled down on earth millions of years ago. Idk. I just find the multiverse hypothesis kinda stupid and imo, it takes away from the lore because I think it's more interesting if there are multiple "One True God" like entities in the Kirby universe, without the whole multiverse thing separating them. Like. Imagine the possible interactions behind Void and Eifilis in the past.
Well... I don't think the multiverse theory is "stupid" per se (...And I :cough cough: am actually really fond of it... ^^; )
But I completely agree with everything else you've said! I think the idea that Kirby has these world saving adventures once a month, once a season, or even once a year is just enforcing restrictions that don't need to be there. Pop Star COULD get invaded once a week, but it could also be so much longer!
I mean, these are little adorable alien creatures we're talking about. We don't know how or when they age! What time even MEANS to them! (Except "nap time." That time is ALWAYS important!) There could be large gaps of time between adventures, no problem! Why is Kirby still referred to as "a youth?" Maybe Kirby's species doesn't reach maturity for a millennia? Or maybe "youth" is just what you call a puffball that doesn't have wings yet!
The only landmark we have for time passing in a way that our human minds can comprehend is the existence of human characters like Adeleine. And that doesn't even really answer much because the Kirby Encyclopedia implied Adeleine was off an adventure with Ribbon between Kirby 64 and Star Allies, so for all we know, they could have existed in different time streams for a while like... uh, any of those movies were people age differently because of the flow of time? "Voices of a Distant Star"...?) Maybe Ado is Adeleine's ancestor!
And certainly, Shiver Star and the Forgotten Land could be different planets. Shiver Star technically looks more...err, "technically" advanced than the Forgotten Land. Maybe when the ancients departed for space, they got as far as Shiver Star and... heck, maybe "Old Earth" had been destroyed once, was starting to recover again, and then was re-destroyed by the FL-ilans?! We don't know! XD
(And tbh, Shiver Star's texture map being based off of Earth feels like a cheeky easter egg that has probably caused no end of problems for the post-Shimomura Kirby team. Which maybe why they have generally avoided coming back to it.)
All that said, I like the idea that they're the same planet just as much as I like the idea that they're different ones! ^^
As far as the "God" thing goes, that shouldn't be a problem as I believe it was already mentioned in an interview that Void isn't even close to being "the one true god" of the Kirby-verse. That was entirely based off of Hyness's misunderstanding of the ancient texts + his need to have an almighty figure to believe in/use for his plan.
Though, my favorite reasons for backing the existence of a multiversal Kirby is that I'd hope it would allow us in the fandom as a whole to stop saying things like "But Galacta's NEVER been canon!" "The Soul battles NEVER happened!" "The Spinoffs NEVER happened!" etc etc!
#Kirby#Dess Answers Questions#Kirby series#Oops I wrote this before doing the interview#But I still hold that it's probably a good thing#We basically get to have the best of both worlds!

Trigun Stampede - Episode 7 - with a title like ‘WOLFWOOD’, I was expecting him to die.
Yet, he is still very much alive at the end of the episode. He saved the orphanage - cue manga plot line to die. However, this wasn’t his second showdown with Livio; can’t have him dying just yet can we?
As I’ve said before, and I will continue to say, the technical aspects of this series are top notch. The smooth fight scenes, the great facial expressions, especially from Meryl in this episode. Yet, the payoff from the events of this episode ring hollow to me. But that is continuing on if the payoff is earned or not. And with all that introduction of the Bad Lads Gang, we don’t even get to see B.D.N. as an older fan, I have to admit that was a disappointment, he was a good villain who added to the character dynamics and helped flesh out Vash’s character early on. But before that, I’ll respond to some comments on last week’s post - I’m always bad about getting back to comments on posts - apologies. ^^;; One comment was on how Wolfwood and Vash don’t need to become friends since it is Wolfwood’s job to take Vash to Knives. That is totally correct - however, the ‘98 anime and manga both make it a point that Wolfwood and Vash become friends as it adds to their character development. Wolfwood realizes his guilt and also finds peace with his decisions because he became friends with Vash. And Vash respected him in both either by literally carrying his cross in the anime in the final showdown with Knives or by using his own life force/span to blow a hole in Knives’ ark just to show him Wolfwood’s dead body on the couch while looking very pissed off. Either way Wolfwood’s own actions that result in his death spur Vash into action. Another comment was about how I’m guessing this season is 12-13 episodes - I’m going by the fact that a lot of anime now are split into two parts for a single ‘season’ and they pace them out this way e.g. Spy x Family, LOGH:DNT etc. It just reflects a change in the animation industry instead of the 90s where they would contractually agree with a studio to make seasons that were either 24-26 episodes long in one go or as long as 36-40. Hence the use of recap and filler episodes, though I personally feel that the original Trigun does not suffer from ‘pointless filler’, it was clever in the story and character development. I haven’t been gleaning the Japanese sources with much vigor since I’m not that into Trigun Stampede to care that much. I think a comment on one of posts mentioned it might be a current 9 episodes for this part from Studio Orange. I care enough about Stampede to give it a college try and watch it but at this point, it won’t hold much re-watch weight when I could go back to the original or read the manga again and enjoy it.
The last comment was similar to the first one, and I agree as well that Wolfwood really is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He has to suck it up and do what he’s told to prevent other children from the fate he and Livio have come to experience. There is just so much we can discuss about this and I love hearing back from other people and the different ways to look at things.
Okay, onto episode seven!
The episode starts off with everyone panicking as the Sandsteamer is off course and under attack. And it is heading straight for Hopeland. Cue Wolfwood panic even further! The map labels the Hopeland Orphanage but the dialogue indicates it is also a town.
Which is it Studio Orange? Honestly, it would have been best to label it as the town of Hopeland and note it has an orphanage through context than making that the key landmark. It reads oddly. The original stated that the Church orphanage is located 300 iles from December according to Wolfwood.
Wolfwood has a lot of angst trying to figure out what to do, lashing out at the Bad Lads members and then goes back to fighting Livio while telling Vash to flee.
Again, the fight sequence between Wolfwood and Livio is brutal and the July MPs remark that the two of them are monsters. It seems that Livio has some sort of built in regeneration system that we can’t see and Wolfwood decides he has no choice but to kill him.
While this is happening, the Bad Lads gang is raiding the Sandsteamer and not really doing that much honestly. They are doing a hit and run. No B.D.N. - personal sadness.
Instead of disguising themselves as Bad Lad members, it seems that one of the two of them sweet talked them to spare them to report for an ‘Outlaw’ magazine. We have Meryl taking pictures of them as they pose during the raid.
Since Meryl is pretty quick witted, I’m guessing she’s the one who came up with the idea and Roberto is just rolling with it based on his body language. But hey, they aren’t dead! That’s a plus.
Then Vash shows up knocking out all sorts of Bad Lads making his way to Roberto and Meryl.
The group briefly chat about why they are there as Vash thought they drove off back towards July on their own. We have him using his gun as a blunt object along with his robotic arm. I guess when he ran away from Wolfwood, his goal was to just knock out as many of them as possible? It is unclear what his objective is other than this is the way the writers have him run into Meryl and Roberto. This shows off that he’s ‘not human’ according to Roberto and they don’t explain to him that they are still following him either.
He then continues down the hall taking out more Bad Lads with his knock them out strategy.
We do see Vash do this in the ‘98 anime (and in the manga) in the episode ‘Hang Fire’ with his famous terrible song about slaughter and genocide but the crux of that story was him begging a father wanting to kill the man who raped and murdered his daughter not to. He kicks a freakkin’ rocket grenade with his foot and takes out men with his long colt 45 instead of shooting them.
The action returns to Wolfwood and Livio. We had more 2D flashbacks about them and Wolfwood is resolved to take him out by insulting him and pretending him like he does care. Livio gets emotionally stunned and when he goes to shoot him at point blank range, his shot is knocked off course and destroys Zazie’s monitoring insect.
This is where he turns to Vash in shock, since this is one of the few times Vash has fired his gun in the entire series. Of course it is to protect Wolfwood and Livio.
Vash keeps pushing him to try to find a way to connect with Livio and Wolfwood fights him until he can damage the weird mind control device on Livio’s face. He pop back into awareness and realizes that Wolfwood is his older brother, Nick and it looks like they might get him.
But all of the brainwashing from the Eye of Michael kicks in and he staggers about pointing his guns at Roberto, Meryl, Vash and Wolfwood . . . before he snaps and shoots himself in the head and falls off the steamer. Tis a flesh wound. We know Livio will be back later.
Wolfwood is clearly concerned and looks over the railing and notices a car that he knows is likely Legato and others. However, he doesn’t share this critical information with others and instead angsting alone for a moment.
It then reveals that Legato is in the mood for some monologue time to state that Wolfwood’s ‘lack of faith’ is an issue and in order to get him to serve Knives better they need to destroy everything he cares about; Livio and the orphanage.
Once Wolfwood no longer has these important connections, it will be no problem to control him. [sighs] If you say so less nihilistic version of Legato. In the last episode we already had Legato establish that this version of Wolfwood has a very strong will and attachment to others, he should realize that this likely will backfire on him.
What is throwing me for a loop is that Legato is the ‘religious’ one in this version. That was squarely Wolfwood’s thing in the manga and ‘98 anime. He seems to (based on his dialogue) believe that faith in something is greater than emotions. Yet, in this episode, we do get some actual anger from him in his voice as well as a more sinister facial expression indicating our bad boy has emotions.
The religious fervor continues with his mannerisms as he decides to force his hand, literally. If the Bad Lads Gang, Livio and Wolfwood can’t do the job, then he will do it.
This does appear to be very tongue and cheek dialogue from him, but I’m disappointed. I miss ultra-nihilistic Legato Bluesummers. He seems to be going through somewhat villain motions, but is missing that sick and twisted edge that made him as creepy as fuck in the original works. I’m also missing his Knives worship. We have no indication that he’s a man craving validation from a person he’s obsessed with. Granted, we didn’t get that early on either, but he made it clear he was there for Knives’ agenda.
What is his ultimate plan? Trigger the ship’s ion cannon to fire at the city and plow into it as well! Wow! I’m sorry, this is again lazy writing. We are going to have Vash info dump for once, stating that the Sandsteamer is a modified spaceship, it still has it’s ion cannon and it was used to clear large rocks back in the day. And he knows how to operate parts of it and busts into all sorts of unused rooms.
Oh noes! We need to make the drama 110%, Vash declares that they have no choice but to try to manually override things. I would like to note during this entire course of events, Legato is just twiddling his thumbs thinking he’s done the job. Don’t count your chickens before they’ve hatched man.
Vash decides he’ll figure out how to mess with the cannon and ask Wolfwood to break into some sort of area to try to manually hold it back?
When we see Vash using the cargo container cranes to pull force on the ion cannon, and the moon in the background, I figured this was the new version of the Fifth Moon in Augusta. Since we don’t know if Vash can make his angel arm in this version, he’d blow a hole in the Fifth Moon with the ion cannon.
While Vash works on mechanically messing with the canon poor Wolfwood is having a melt down trying to do the impossible.
Meanwhile, Meryl is in the control room for the ion cannon with the fire lever before her.
Roberto makes his move and tells her it is time to go. They had a deal to pull out when it was too dangerous. He found an escape vehicle and orders her to take it.
She looks serious and hesitant.
He reminds her what her job is and that she is not a hero and is just a normal person. We can tell they are leading up to some sort of confrontation between the junior and senior reporters.
Poor Wolfwood is there pushing on a giant ion cannon losing his mind. This plot point is bonkers. I get this is sci fi and that Wolfwood can heal quickly but super strength wasn’t in his background right? Or not that we’ve seen.
The conflict boils over when Meryl takes her stand to not be passive or run away! She calmly says she can’t abandon them and that she doesn’t judge Roberto for running either.
But the events at Jeneora Rock shook her to her core. She can’t be passive and has been feeling frustrated since those events. Meryl has guilt for not being able to prevent Tonis from being injured and she sees it as her fault that he lost an arm.
She declares that she’s staying right here in the chance that she’ll be able to make a difference. Honestly, Roberto doesn’t have much to say back to her and thankfully, he doesn’t.
This entire sequence shows where Studio Orange kills it with her facial expressions. They are good, incredibly good. It also further shows that Meryl is also taking on aspects of Milly by caring about others and doing the ‘right’ thing to help out others even if it took her some time to get to this point. Studio Orange - I give you one point for actual character development for her.
Vash rushes down to help out Wolfwood. He tells him that he does have something he cares about and Wolfwood pretends to be obtuse while they strain to try to push the ion cannon.
We see it strain his robotic arm which cracks and sizzles with electricity as well. He’s working it to the max.
This entire scene gives Vash time to talk to Wolfwood as he tries to connect and humanize Wolfwood. However, the sheer physics of this is crazy. Even with a special robotic arm, they aren’t going to make that much of a difference. Yet somehow, they are able to nudge it just enough that when it reaches maximum charge, Meryl discharges the cannon.
Based on what happens it appears that the wrapped cargo crane cables and the collapsing of the arms created enough of a counter force that once they hit the ground it was able to pull it back and out of range until the discharge was complete.
I know this is a sci fi series, but the physics of this had me feeling a bit whaaaa? We’ve been sticking to more logical rules in this series; this was out of place to an extent. Additionally, Legato, why weren’t you trying to counter them more? Twiddling your thumbs I presume? Feeling superior?
Of course the crisis isn’t averted yet! Now, they need to stop the Steamer from colliding with the town. Wolfwood wants to blow it up taking himself with it. He vaguely taps into past Wolfwood’s need to choose the needs of the many as opposed to the needs of the few highlighted in ‘Escape from Pain’.
Yet, Vash gets him to stand down despite his vow that Vash can’t save people without hurting others.
Vash then sends Wolfwood to the engine room and he runs off to the plant room. This was briefly shown in the last episode, so we know the ship is powered by an individual plant.
Wolfwood becomes Kaite, and using his ability to heal, is able to open the hot pressure release door. We see all the other men sitting down looking at their hands and hot gloves unable to hold on long enough.
I missed the original plot point with B.D.N and the Sandsteamer. With the inclusion of Kaite, we see how Vash is able to convince someone to not be hopeless and to make a difference. It also leveraged the point that Kaite was small enough to climb to reach the release lever and it just takes a normal amount of human force.
It is through this nudging to action part that Vash is able to influence others to act, even when at times we know he’s being passive about the big picture for himself.
Vash then goes to the plant to get it to power down and stop the out of control Sandsteamer. Like in previous versions, he places his hands on the tank and requests assistance from the plant.
The Sandsteamer comes to a stop just before hitting the town and Legato decides to give up for the moment. He orders Zazie to retrieve Livio from the desert ground.
A sandstorm then appears, prompting Legato to ask if this is Zazie’s work which they deny.
The sandstorm moves in on the Sandsteamer. This time we have a real sandstorm as opposed to the one that never happened in episode three and also contrasts with the town that didn’t see wind power twenty-five years ago. I’m still not over the there is no wind in the desert plot point.
At the end of the episode the gang meets up to realize the only place Vash could be is the plant room. We see him hand to hand with the plant. The plants have lost their angelic design and instead look like the aliens from Avatar. Well sort of - or elves.
Vash turns to look at them and his face reveals the plant markings where in shock Meryl states that Vash is - a plant?
The episode ends with him looking at them before it goes black and he passed out collapsing to the floor. We have confirmed Vash’s plant identity. It seems like they were going for the same look of shock Meryl had to the Trigun Maximum manga when he uses his angel arm to deflect a bullet from hitting Meryl and she loses it.
Summary of this episode and some main points:
1.) Our team finally scores a win. Mark them one point in the W column! This was such a long time coming. I don’t consider the victory of the Nebraskas to count since it was just a sign of the doom to come.
2.) Wolfwood is at least getting some humanizing points. He’s been forced into a corner and finally stops to listen to Vash and back him up. Though it is with some reservations of course.
3.) Hope does hold out. It is hope that saved Hopeland. That is rather heavy handed Studio Orange! But that is the kinda of don’t worry viewer we will hand feed you the cheese are what you are going for with this series. And the ion cannon plot point - you know that they have to save the day with the paradoxical pacing in this anime.
4.) Religious elements in this series utterly baffle me. I don’t know where they are going with this. It is clear they didn’t get the original. I’m still sitting on an ask in my inbox about the religious element to the original series - it will require a longer reply than I have had time to do at the moment but it will come. Mainly, since the Christian elements can be read multiple ways and it is rather open to interpret in that context depending on your own knowledge of the base material. My main vibe is that by making Legato the religious one it just seems - oddly confusing. He’s a villain and does not have a moral dilemma that stems from his religious upbringing. I just don’t get why he’s the one reading the bible and going on about faith in some sort of higher power (Knives?) it seems OOC for him.
Character notes!
1.) Vash - fired his gun to save Livio! However, the rest of the time he used it to stun Bad Lads. So booooooo. What I’m really missing is that Vash is a skilled gunslinger. We have almost no indication of his skills. He was able to deflect Wolfwood’s shot and he’s had a few early on, but he’s not giving us his awesome tricks and skills. That is all being carried by Wolfwood at the moment. I felt it gave greater weight to Vash’s ability to use his long colt AND manage to not kill someone. It really made his vow to not kill more obvious in the manga and original anime. The series is called Trigun and it is about an infamous outlaw with a huge bounty on his head and is known to be an excellent marksman.
2.) B. D. N. or Brilliant Dynamites Neon - doesn’t show up! Major disappointment! I was expecting him to get into the mix with a Wolfwood vs. Livio and Vash vs. B. D. N. showdown; no dice. I was excited for that outcome when episode six ended. There was no high stakes gamble on a one to one showdown at the toss of a coin. Which Yasuhiro Nightow loves characters flipping American quarters and half dollars btw.
That look from Vash as he emerges from behind the rubble!
His carefully aimed shots that make their mark!
And then how B. D. N. saves him from being crushed by zapping the rock when he realizes how injured Vash is and also saves the day.
The absence of B. D. N. also highlights how Vash impacts the behavior of others for the better. He always respects them and it shows that people respond to that. Again, it gives Vash better and stronger arguments for his personal code of conduct.
3.) Meryl and Roberto - Our lone female lead carries her weight! And is able to contribute to the win for our core group. She shows character development, thinking of more than just her story and job and looking back on her resume which Roberto threw out the car window. Is following through on making a difference! I again think the animation for her facial expressions was top notch here. I don’t know who is in charge of her story boarding for expression but they need to be paid more. Roberto is a sad sack. Yet, I guess being a sad sack works in this episode. He seemed rather passive this episode. Not sure why. Where is old and bitter uncle info dump?
4.) Wolfwood - doesn’t die upon saving the orphanage. We have no idea if he’ll die after showdown number two with Livio. I was expecting him to die with our episode title, but instead, Stampede leaned into this episode of the Wolfwood Show again. I know he is a fan favorite and very popular, yet Studio Orange isn’t leveraging his character as much as they could and should be doing. But since he’s now an atheist, his original guilt is lacking from the anime and manga. He’s only now using the argument of finding the lowest number of casualties for the greater good. Which seems late pacing wise and also OOC for him.
Or as my friend Merdopseudo says, he’s not Wolfwood, he’s Fakewood. I agree that this character is not even close to him from the ‘98 anime or Trigun Maximum. Yet, suddenly, he’s starting to notice that Vash’s idea might work. And is willing to give him a chance - I guess after they stopped the cannon and that Vash got him to confuse Livio. Those two events are enough for Wolfwood to feel that he owes Vash one and will follow through with his plan to stop the Sandsteamer. Does it feel earned? I dunno, maybe if you squint enough. 5.) Legato - got angry and is religious. Right. We see him raise his voice and get visibly angry and try to do things himself but at the same time, he doesn’t follow through fully. Which means you failed man. What happened to your dedication to sparkle motion? -er- I mean your dedication to the mission of Knives? I am bummed out, I wanted nihilistic Legato. Was he so confident that he thought he could let things happen without keeping the pressure on Vash and Wolfwood?
6.) Livio - has an unhealthy younger brother relationship with Wolfwood. He was almost able to snap out of it and it looks like he was brainwashed by Chapel in the very hard to see flashback about his job. Using the trope of ‘I have to catch up to X character!’ is so over used and I don’t like it being applied to him in particular. Minus one for generic writing Studio Orange. Additionally, there is no indication that Razlo the Tri-punisher exists. We can see that he killed people in the flashback but it is not enough information since it is through Wolfwood’s flashbacks in Trigun Maximum that we first get an indication of Razlo’s existence. Wolfwood is the one who watches him and notices the disconnect and then doesn’t know what happens when he runs away.
7.) Zazie - present. We get to see an insect pulled out of their mouth. Better than a vagina I guess [shrugs].
And with that I’ve hit all the points that struck me. The episode ends with a sandstorm and Vash collapsing.
I’m going to guess that the sandstorm is generated by the lone remaining Seeds ship that hasn’t crashed to the planet’s surface and that they were tracking events and located Vash there. They will use the sandstorm to pull the core group onto the ship, Vash will get a new arm from the Doctor. He’ll also meet up with Brad and Luida on the ship.
We only have a few episodes left, but the crazy pacing continues.

Massive Ranne Story Lore dump bc I hit art block
Pardon any grammar and spelling mistakes. My fingers type too fast for autocorrect to save me.
Don’t read if you don’t want to.
It’s long and I’m just using this post as a little diary. It’s for my own sake because writing this down is good for my organization.
Goals that I want to start soon for this story:
- Figure out a story name (I was calling it The Fall of Eden for awhile but the sleep token influence is too strongly depicted so no)
- Design Ranne’s weapons (Zweihander, scythe, short one handed sword of some sort)
- Ranne’s move set if they were a fromsoft style boss (bro for sure inflicts frost and blood loss)
- Armor sets for Ranne (Right now I need to finalize their basic black armor and cloak, but I would like to design different sets)
- Design more characters!! (Elaboration below in lore spiel)
So the lore break down begins.
Note: all characters without names mentioned are only concepts that live in my head and will be drawn out eventually. Ranne and Punicae are the only ones I’ve drawn. Find them in the tags.
World style: Ofc I’m heavily influenced by fromsoft specifically Elden ring because it sort of captures how I imagine Ranne’s world looking like. It would be a little more realistic geography wise (No Caelid like environments or that crazy scary underground place that’s purple). More first-area-of-Dark-souls-esk. Ranne dwells in a chronically snowy mountainous forest area. Being the god of winter and birds, theyre very solitary and cold (pun intended). Although Ranne can be merciless, they respect their boundaries and are polite to lower ranked gods.
In the god/deity hierarchy: the elder gods (creators of the oceans, fire, sky, etc) are on top, second tier gods like Ranne (other gods of the seasons, significant landmarks, planets, moons, other shit like that ig), third tier deities like demigods and Punicae (deities of less importance), last are other montrous creatures and mortals of significant power granted by gods.
Back on track, Ranne lore wise I’m thinking they developed a relationship with the god of autumn and decay. Ranne is androgynous representing and I would like this Autumn god to be masculine. It takes awhile for the autumn guy to win over Ranne but they become friends (and maybe something more cause I can’t deny myself an angsty love story 🤭).
Here comes the spring god. Feminine representing (I know it’s cliche but I can’t make everyone genderless). I like the idea of all the gods not being perfect and good in the story, everyone has blood on they’re hands (except maybe a top tier motherly elder being that will be concepted AND Punicae because she’d never hurt a fly). so this spring goddess, despite spring having purity growth and rebirth connations, will probably be a very evil guy. Since spring is represented by (re)birth, they would probably see themselves as a mother or older sister figure, which will lead to them being “controlling” and likes when things are in order. She sees Ranne’s new relationship with the autumn guy a threat to the order within the godly sphere and invokes jealousy within her. She also has a hatred for Ranne because they’re mean and bring death with them (winter kills gang). She sees Ranne’s harshness and revered nature as a threat to what she creates despite it being how life goes.
Quick note: Summer god, again probably a gender less being like Ranne, probably a large knight (D from Elden ring and Ornstein from DS inspired). Wise and usually stays out of any drama that happens within the godly sphere. Morally good and settles conflict when they are prompted. Morally in the right area.
Back to lore. Eventually after Ranne and autumn guy are besties, there’s a schism between the higher gods when the elder goddess/mother figure that I mentioned being not evil falls ill. Gods argue about what will happen if the mother goddess heals or passes. Who will take her place? Will nothing change? Will a second tier god become an elder god? The gods are jealous and greedy and through lots of slander, confusion and hatred, the schism turns into a full out war. This affects the mortal sphere as well (sort of like the shattering in Elden ring but a little more carnage and gods dying a lot).
ANGST TIME autumn guy eats shit and dies (dies in combat) and in a fit of rage Ranne goes a bit crazy and kills the deity who killed autumn guy and few others. Influenced by evil spring goddess, the elder gods send Ranne on a punishment to exile for 1,000 years to guard an ancient forest and temple that has been abandoned, only to return to their rank and territory once the years are over. Not thinking too much about once Ranne is free but they probably kill spring goddess for shits and giggles.
That was more typing than I’ve ever done in one sitting holy shit.
Erm idk if there’s anything else to say about lore. I’m gonna talk about characters design inspo pics now.
Autumn man:
Ofc yummy oranges, browns, and maybe some greens. I’m thinking when it becomes fall in the mortal sphere, they look orange and brown, but when’s it’s the rest of the year, they be green and brown.
(Edit: Uhm Pinterest ain’t helping rn sooooo more inspo pics later.)
If you’re a psycho and made it this far, I give you a hardy affectionate slap on the back for being a trooper. Why did you make yourself read all that.
OC Name, story name, idea, and image inspo suggestions are always welcome. I honestly need ideas for creatures and characters. I really like feedback/critque so don’t be shy. I eat content and human interaction like it’s free food so don’t be afraid to talk to me.
Anyways that’s all.
