"This is the part where you kiss me or punch me. Decide quickly."

Hello, Lili! Thank you so much joining us on this tour! I really love seeing u on my notifs and appreciate the comments you’d leave! I hope you enjoy the show!
꒰💜꒱ ; And they said, "Speak now" ⊱ ۫ ׅ ✧ The Marauders just threw a party at their common room, wonder what chaos could ensue. (mandatory to send a prompt with this! Keep in mind this is the default album if you don't send one!)
Here’s James Potter performing a solo :
You don’t go looking for James Potter. He just has a habit of turning up when you think you're being subtle about searching for him in a crowd of bodies.
You’re halfway through your bottle of Butterbeer when he finds you in the corner. You've long abandoned the dance floor, not after you danced with Mary and she almost threw up dinner on you.
You had to tap out of dancing then as she was ushered away by a laughing Lily. Lily had the right mind to not drink tonight - Gryffindor won against Slytherins again, and it's the same festivities.
The fire roars, drinks flow from Merlin-knows-where, and Remus is hovering by the charmed record player again. He was always a tyrant when it came to the music, not letting anyone else touch it.
You all stopped trying when he growled at Sirius for trying to replace Bowie one time, it was hilarious nonetheless. And Sirius is forever hampered by it.
You’re pressed near the fireplace, one foot up on the stone, drink in hand, trying not to look like you’re scanning the crowd for James once you've got bored by watching random people dance to the music.
It doesn’t matter, of course when he finds you.
He’s got that slight dust of red on his tanned cheeks from the alcohol. Knowing the lot, he definitely had Firewhiskey beforehand. He was almost swaying as he approached you with a wide grin.
You greeted him, mildly amused. "Hey, having fun?"
He nods curtly, blinking rapidly as if to focus on you. Sirius had the right mind to experiment with some spells and manage to copy muggle clubs and their dancing lights.
So the common room is pretty dark save for the dancing lights and the strobes making its rounds in the room.
“So,” he says, entirely too casual, “Hogsmeade is this weekend.”
You deadpan. “Nope. Not going with you.”
He holds his hand to his chest, as if you've hurt his pride a lot. You manage to scoff at him.
“Oh, come on! Why not?”
You take a sip of your drink, then pause. “Because last time, I ended up on Filch’s blacklist, and you walked away with a free cauldron, a sugar quill, and a dislocated shoulder.”
“It was a very productive outing,” he counters, like that explains anything.
You glance sideways. His hair is as tragic as ever, windswept like he’s just come from flying or fighting the weather itself. You try to ignore how the lights danced on his face and how badly you feel like getting closer to him in this haze of alcohol and strobe lights.
“You got us banned from three shops.”
“Technically Sirius got us banned,” he says, all mock-seriousness. “I just lit the spark.”
You sigh. “Is that supposed to be comforting?”
James steps closer, making you pause and hold your breath. He grins at you, coyly, the very picture of reckless confidence.
“I’m asking properly this time,” he says. “No bets, no pranks, no plans involving dungbombs. Just me, asking you.”
You take a moment to look at him. He’s watching you with this expression that you can't quite place. A slight tense to his shoulder, he's almost nervous, but he's playing it off.
It’s deeply annoying. You hate how warm it makes your chest feel - you would try to reason that it's the Butterbeer, but that's just a stupid and useless excuse.
“Fine,” you say eventually. “But I swear, James, if you do anything - ”
“You’ll tell McGonagall,” he finishes, hand over his heart. “Got it. Cross my heart.”
You roll your eyes at his dramatics and the room picks up again as another upbeat song plays, the dance floor cheers and James gives you a look with a glint of mischief.
You shake your head, already declining, but he wasn't asking. He grabs you by the arm and tugs you to the sea of drunk seventh-years dancing - thankfully, you managed to place down your bottle at the nearest flat surface.
Despite yourself, you allowed your body to move along the music, and James was watching you as he flailed around. You were laughing as he made a fool of himself, dancing weirdly.
He even managed a very poor attempt of a flamingo while your stomach ached from laughing. He was drunk on your laughter by the time the song ended and as if to give you whiplash - the song changes to a slow one.
Some groans from the lonely singles as they leave the dance floor, mumbling about the mood change and their disapproval.
You turn to James, watching him - he was doing the same, his eyes watching the way the light hits your hair, your eyes, your nose, your - your lips.
He swallowed.
You parted your lips to maybe say something, you two standing still as the other people in the dance floor swayed to the slow music. You're not sure what to do now.
Wordlessly, you reach your arms up to loop around his neck. They clung to him, lazily, and his hands went up on instinct to hold your hips.
It was pure instinct. Swaying to the slow beat, his eyes never once left yours, and you feared you'd drown in the hazel pools that are James Potter's eyes.
You tried to ignore how his gaze continued to flicker between your eyes, and down - to your lips. You felt your mouth run dry at the growing tension.
It was as if it was just the two of you now. The rest of the bodies in the common room all faded to nothing, as if they were never there, as you two swayed.
His hands resting on your hips were careful, not pressing or putting any weight. You were beginning to get lost in it until he spoke : “This is the part,” he says, “where you kiss me or punch me. Decide quickly.”
Your lips part. You take in his face - the way he’s looking at you like you’ve already said yes. The way the firelight mixed with the strobes makes his hair look like it’s glowing, catching on his lashes, the tips of his smile. He’s trying not to smile. That’s how you know he’s serious.
You take a breath, deliberately. “Is both an option?”
He blinks. Then laughs, throwing his head back as his shoulders shake. You managed to break into a smile.
“Merlin,” he says, grinning wide, “I hope so.”
You kiss him. It’s quick, just enough to shut him up, just enough to feel the sharp breath he takes like he wasn’t prepared even though he asked for this.
Then you shove him back by the collar, not hard, just enough to make your point.
“That's for getting me banned from Scrivenshaft's,” you say.
He stumbles a step and catches himself, grinning like a fool, hair mussed and eyes gleaming. “Worth it.”
You roll your eyes and walk off, but he follows, obviously.

the bet | sirius black
pairing: sirius black x reader
summary: james bets sirius can't make you fall in love with him and now sirius is all over you.
masterlist
It started, like most ridiculous things in Sirius Black’s life, because of James Potter.
The Gryffindor common room was loud that evening, filled with students playing Wizard’s Chess, finishing last-minute essays, or just causing trouble. Sirius lounged on the couch, legs stretched over the armrest, twirling his wand between his fingers as he half-listened to James and Peter argue about Quidditch formations.
And then you laughed.
Not at him—though that wouldn’t have been surprising—but across the room, sitting with Marlene and Lily, head thrown back, eyes sparkling with mischief. Sirius had heard you laugh plenty of times, but for some reason, this one caught his attention. Maybe it was because of how easily you laughed, how effortlessly you filled the space around you with warmth and energy.
James, ever perceptive (and ever annoying), caught the way Sirius was looking at you and smirked.
“Mate,” he said, nudging Sirius’s boot off the couch. “You’re staring.”
Sirius rolled his eyes and sat up properly. “Please. I don’t stare—people hope I’ll stare.”
Peter snorted. “Yeah, alright.”
James leaned back in his chair, a knowing glint in his eyes. “You know,” he mused, I don’t think Y/n ever actually fallen for your charms.”
Sirius scoffed, placing a hand on his chest like he’d just been gravely insulted. “Excuse me?”
“I mean, she flirts with you,” James continued, as if this wasn’t a direct attack on Sirius’s entire identity, “but she flirts with everyone. She’s probably the only girl at Hogwarts who hasn’t fallen for your act.”
Sirius narrowed his eyes, turning his attention back to you. You were a flirt—always had been. And you were good at it too, quick-witted and confident, never the type to get flustered. He’d flirted with you plenty of times, and you always matched him, grin for grin, quip for quip. But James was right—you never blushed, never got nervous, never gave him that look most girls did when he turned on the charm.
It was… interesting.
And Sirius Black loved a challenge.
“You’re saying,” Sirius said slowly, “that if I actually tried, she wouldn’t fall for me?”
James grinned. “I’m saying you can’t do it.”
Remus, who had been reading by the fire (and wisely staying out of this nonsense), sighed. “Here we go.”
Peter perked up. “Ooh, is this a bet?”
Sirius smirked. “It is now.”
James sat up straighter, eyes gleaming. “Alright then, Black. Let’s make it official. I bet you—” he paused for effect, “—ten Galleons that you can’t make her fall for you.”
Sirius raised a brow. “Ten? That’s all?”
James laughed. “Alright, big shot, fifteen.”
“Twenty.”
“You want to lose money that badly?”
Sirius leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, expression downright smug. “Oh, I never lose.”
Remus groaned. “This is a terrible idea.”
James ignored him. “Alright, fine. Twenty Galleons says she will never fall for you.”
Sirius held out a hand. James shook it. The deal was made.
Peter clapped his hands together. “Ooooh, this is gonna be fun.”
Remus muttered, “This is going to end in disaster.”
Sirius leaned back, stretching lazily, confidence radiating off him. “Just you lot wait. By the end of the month, she will be smitten.”
“Sure, mate,” James said, shaking his head. “Sure.”
Across the room, you turned slightly, catching Sirius’s gaze. Your eyes met his, and instead of looking away, you held his stare, tilting your head slightly as if daring him to make a move.
And just to be infuriating, you gave him a wink.
Sirius grinned.
This was going to be fun.
The game begins
Sirius Black was a man on a mission.
The very next morning, he strolled into the Great Hall like he owned the place—not an uncommon occurrence. But today, his target wasn’t just looking devastatingly handsome or stealing toast off James’s plate. No, today was about you.
You were sitting with Marlene and Lily, sipping your coffee and looking far too amused for someone who had barely started the day. The moment Sirius approached, Marlene smirked knowingly.
“Uh-oh,” she muttered. “Brace yourself.”
You looked up just as Sirius slid into the seat beside you, his signature smirk firmly in place. “Morning, love,” he drawled, reaching out and plucking a piece of bacon from your plate.
You raised an eyebrow but let him take it. “Flirting before I’ve had my coffee? Bold move, Black.”
Sirius grinned. “I figured I should start early. Give you the whole day to think about how devastatingly charming I am.”
You took a slow sip of coffee, holding eye contact. Then, deadpan: “Who are you again?”
Marlene cackled.
Lily snorted into her pumpkin juice.
But Sirius? He only grinned wider. “Ah, playing hard to get, are we? Don’t worry, love. I love a challenge.”
You tilted your head, smirking. “Do you, now?”
Sirius leaned in ever so slightly. “Mmm. And something tells me you do too.”
You pretended to consider this. “That’s true. But here’s the thing—I’m very good at it.”
Sirius chuckled. Oh, this is going to be interesting.
Since then, it was suspicious how often Sirius Black seemed to run into you that week.
He was always around, flirting, teasing, and honestly just trying to get your attention somehow. It was becoming a very odd habit to be around him that much.
It's been a few days now, and it seemed Sirius wasn't going to back down on whatever the plan he had in his head.
Try harder.
The Hogwarts library was your sanctuary. A place of peace, quiet, and most importantly, a place without distractions. Better saying, a place without Sirius Black.
At least, that was the idea.
Because of course, when you were finally alone, enjoying the rare bliss of uninterrupted reading, a shadow loomed over your book, and with it, his voice.
“Fancy seeing you here.”
You sighed without looking up. “This is a library, Sirius. People come here to study.”
Sirius Black had a very particular way of invading one’s personal space. Instead of just standing in front of your table like a normal person, he leaned forward, resting his elbows against the wood, close enough that you could feel the warmth of him.
“Yes, well,” he mused, “I figured you might be lonely.”
You finally lifted your gaze, unimpressed. “Oh, how thoughtful. And totally not an excuse to bother me.”
Sirius let out a dramatic gasp, clutching his chest like you had physically harmed him. “You wound me.”
You smirked. “Not yet, but if you keep talking, I might.”
His grin widened. “Feisty. I like it.”
“You like everything.”
“No, just you.”
You rolled your eyes, but you were smiling.
Sirius noticed.
He noticed everything.
And like the menace he was, he took that as an invitation.
With a lazy confidence that only he could pull off, he slid into the chair across from you, propping his chin on one hand. “So, what are we reading today?”
We. As if he was included in this activity.
You sighed, snapping your book shut with an audible thud. “Sirius, don’t you have somewhere else to be? Like, I don’t know, bothering James? Tormenting Snape? Staring at yourself in a mirror?”
“Multitasking, love.” He winked. “Besides, I like this game much better.”
You raised an eyebrow. “What game?”
“The one where I try to get you to fall for me.” He smirked. “And you pretend you’re not already madly in love.”
You let out a short laugh. “Oh, that’s what this is?”
Sirius tapped his fingers against the table. “Mmm, seems that way, doesn’t it?”
You leaned forward slightly, resting your arms on the wood between you. “I hate to break it to you, Black, but if this is your grand seduction plan, I’d give it a solid four out of ten.”
Sirius clutched his heart again, even more dramatically than before. “Four?! That’s a crime.”
“Would’ve been a three, but I added an extra point for effort.”
He narrowed his eyes, studying you. “You’re toying with me.”
You smirked. “What gave it away?”
Sirius huffed, but the grin never left his lips. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms as he examined you. His eyes flickered between yours, as if searching for a weak spot.
Then, he smiled.
That slow, dangerous, oh no kind of smile.
“Alright, then,” he mused, tilting his head. “I’ll just have to try harder.”
You arched an eyebrow. “That sounds suspiciously like a challenge.”
“Maybe it is.”
Your fingers tapped against your book thoughtfully. “So what happens if you lose?”
Sirius grinned. “I never lose.”
You leaned in slightly, dropping your voice to a whisper. “Sounds like someone’s overconfident.”
Sirius mirrored your movement, his voice dropping to match yours. “Sounds like someone’s tempted.”
You held his gaze for a long, tense moment, a silent battle of wills.
Determined not to let him win this round, you leaned in too, mirroring his movement, until your faces were barely inches apart.
“You know what, Sirius?” you whispered.
His smirk widened. “What, love?”
You reached forward, grabbed your book—and snapped it shut in his face.
Sirius jerked back, startled, blinking rapidly.
“Merlin’s bloody beard, woman!” Sirius exclaimed, rubbing his forehead. “That was uncalled for!”
You leaned back in your chair, casually flipping your book open again. “No, invading my personal space was uncalled for.”
Sirius groaned dramatically, slumping in his chair. “You are absolutely infuriating.”
“You love it,” you said sweetly.
Sirius huffed, but there was no mistaking the way his lips curled up. “One day, sweetheart,” he said, voice low and full of promise. “One day, you’re going to beg me to kiss you.”
You scoffed, flipping a page. “Highly unlikely.”
Sirius just smirked, standing up and giving you a mock salute. “We’ll see.”
And with that, he turned and sauntered out of the library, leaving you staring after him, suddenly very aware of the warmth lingering on your face.
The retaliation.
It's been weeks now.
Weeks.
And Sirius was still all over you.
At this point, it was clear that Sirius Black had declared war.
Your response to that? Oh, he had no idea who he was messing with.
Because if Sirius Black wanted to play this game, you were going to make damn sure he suffered for it.
So, the next time you saw him in the corridor—leaning lazily against the wall, that insufferable grin already in place—you stopped, tilted your head, and gave him a slow, deliberate once-over.
Sirius blinked, caught slightly off guard. But only for a second.
Then, he smirked, straightening up. “See something you like, sweetheart?”
You let the silence drag out, letting his own arrogance build up. Then, just as his smirk widened—
You hummed, tapping your chin. “Hmm. Almost.”
Then, with a slow, infuriatingly confident wink, you turned on your heel and walked away.
Sirius stood frozen in place.
For a solid ten seconds.
You could feel his confusion radiating behind you, the absolute whiplash of thinking he had the upper hand, only to be completely blindsided.
James, who had just walked up behind Sirius, witnessed the entire thing. He clapped Sirius on the back with a grin. “Mate.”
Sirius didn’t even turn.
James smirked. “I think you just got Sirius’d.”
Sirius finally blinked, coming back to himself. He turned to James, looking betrayed. “That—that’s not a thing.”
James snorted. “It definitely is now.”
Sirius turned back toward the hallway you had disappeared down, running a hand through his hair, still processing.
You almost felt bad for him.
Almost.
But then you heard his voice, muttering to himself as you rounded the corner—
“Bloody hell.”
And that?
That was exactly the reaction you wanted.
The shift.
The Gryffindor common room was warm with the crackling fire, but the corridors leading to it were anything but. The stone walls seemed to absorb every bit of warmth, leaving you slightly chilled as you walked back from the Prefect’s meeting. It had run longer than expected—something about Filch catching a group of first-years trying to hex Mrs. Norris (which, honestly, you would have given them extra House points for).
As you turned the last corner, you spotted him.
Sirius Black, leaning against the wall right outside the common room entrance, looking for all the world like he was posing for a magazine cover. His arms were crossed over his chest, one foot propped against the stone, his black hair perfectly tousled in that effortlessly charming way that drove half the school mad.
You raised an eyebrow. “Are you seriously waiting for me?”
Sirius smirked. “What makes you think I wasn’t just casually standing here, looking incredibly handsome?”
You sighed, exasperated but amused. “Because you’re Sirius Black. And Sirius Black doesn’t do casual.”
Sirius pushed off the wall, stepping in front of you, blocking your way into the common room. “Guilty as charged,” he admitted. “Though, in my defense, you do make it very hard to resist waiting around just to see you.”
You tilted your head, smirking. “That was almost sweet.”
He grinned. “Almost?”
“Yes, almost. But then I remembered you say this kind of thing to everyone.”
Sirius gasped dramatically. “Now that’s just slander. I’d never be this dedicated to anyone else.”
“Oh, dedicated now, are we?” you teased.
He stepped closer, closing some of the space between you, his smirk never fading. “You have noticed, haven’t you?”
Your smirk mirrored his, refusing to back down. “Oh, I’ve noticed.” You leaned in just a fraction. “I just don’t think it’s working.”
Sirius let out a soft laugh, but there was something in his expression—something unreadable, something a little too amused, a little too confident. “Oh, love,” he murmured, voice lower now, teasing but laced with something else. “You say that like you’re not enjoying every second of it.”
Your breath caught—just for a moment.
Not because he was right (which he wasn’t, obviously), but because of how close he suddenly was. The playful flirting had been going on for weeks now, but this? This was new.
You weren’t about to let him win, though.
With slow deliberation, you reached up and threaded your fingers through his hair, twirling a loose strand between your fingers. “Lovely hair,” you mused, watching his expression closely. “Shame if someone—oh, I don’t know—hexed it green.”
Sirius stilled.
It was brief, barely a second, but you felt it—the way his breath hitched just slightly, the way his smirk faltered for half a heartbeat before he recovered.
Then, he exhaled a soft laugh. “You wouldn’t dare.”
You grinned. “Try me.”
Sirius blinked, clearly caught off guard.
Then, he laughed. A real, genuine laugh, not his usual smug chuckle. “Merlin, you really are something else.”
You grinned. “Took you this long to realize?”
Sirius shook his head, still grinning. “I should be winning this, you know.”
You smirked. “Oh, you think you’re winning?”
He chuckled. “I know I am.”
“Sure, Black. Keep telling yourself that.”
His grey eyes flickered with something unreadable before he suddenly leaned in, just enough to make your heart stutter—not quite touching, but close enough that you could feel the warmth radiating off him.
His voice dropped to a murmur. “You love this.”
For the first time since this ridiculous game had started, you felt your heart stutter—just for a second. He was so close, his voice quieter than usual, like this moment wasn’t just another round of flirting.
You kept your cool, refusing to step back. “Of course I do,” you whispered. “I love watching you try so hard.”
His smirk widened. “Oh, darling. I’m not even trying yet.”
That was it. That was the moment you felt it.
The shift.
You weren’t sure who moved first. Maybe it was him, leaning in just enough to blur the lines of your usual banter. Maybe it was you, tilting your head slightly, eyes locked with his, breath caught somewhere between another teasing remark and something… else.
Whatever it was, the air between you shifted.
Sirius had been relentless these past few weeks, flirting with you at every opportunity, always pushing, always testing. But you had been just as ruthless—flirting back, laughing at his attempts, making sure he never got the reaction he was aiming for. It was a game, a fun one, a ridiculous one.
But now?
Now, you weren’t entirely sure what it was anymore.
You still had your fingers in his hair, twirling a strand between them as if you weren’t hyper-aware of the way he was looking at you. Sirius wasn’t just smirking now—his usual cocky, easy-going expression had melted into something slower, something almost… amused. Like he was watching you figure something out in real time.
His voice was soft, but there was no missing the amusement in it. “You’re staring, love.”
You scoffed, shaking off whatever that moment was. “So are you.”
“Course I am.” He grinned, tilting his head. “You are stunning.”
You rolled your eyes, letting go of his hair and taking a small step back—just enough to clear your head. “You’re insufferable.”
Sirius grinned. “And yet, here you are, still standing in front of me. Fascinating.”
You huffed a laugh. “I’m only here because you’re blocking the entrance.”
“Oh?” He glanced behind him, at the portrait hole, then back at you. “Say please, and I might move.”
You raised an eyebrow. “I’d rather hex you.”
Sirius gasped dramatically, placing a hand over his chest. “Violence? So soon in our courtship?”
You groaned, shoving his shoulder lightly. “Move, Black.”
He grinned but didn’t budge. Instead, he leaned slightly closer again, grey eyes twinkling with mischief. “Admit it.”
You crossed your arms. “Admit what?”
“That I make your heart race.”
You blinked. Oh, he was getting bold now.
You tilted your head, pretending to consider. “Hmmm… I do get a strange reaction around you.”
Sirius smirked. “Do you now?”
You nodded solemnly. “Yes. It’s called secondhand embarrassment.”
Sirius barked a laugh. “Merlin, you love giving me a hard time, don’t you?”
“Oh, absolutely.”
He studied you for a second, like he was debating his next move, and then—because he was Sirius Black—he smirked again and leaned in just slightly, lowering his voice to something almost dangerous.
“Don’t worry, love,” he murmured, “I like it rough.”
For the first time, you felt your brain short-circuit.
It was barely noticeable—the fraction of a second it took you to process what he had just said—but Sirius caught it. His smirk widened ever so slightly, his eyes flickering with triumph.
Oh, hell no.
You refused to give him the satisfaction.
So you did the only logical thing: you reached out, grabbed his tie (because of course Sirius Black wore his tie loose and messy), and yanked.
Sirius stumbled forward, his hands flying up instinctively to catch himself on either side of you, palms pressing against the wall just behind your shoulders. He was close now—closer than before, his face mere inches from yours.
His smirk faltered.
Your grip on his tie tightened. “Careful, Black,” you whispered, voice dripping with amusement. “You’re playing a dangerous game.”
Sirius exhaled a laugh, but it wasn’t as confident as before. His gaze flickered to your lips—just briefly, just enough for you to notice.
And then, just as quickly, he pulled back, his usual grin snapping back into place. “Well,” he said, voice a little too casual, “this has been fun.”
You let go of his tie, smoothing it down like you hadn’t just pulled him into your trap. “Oh, so much fun.”
Sirius ran a hand through his hair, clearing his throat. “Well then. I suppose I should let you get inside before you freeze to death out here.”
You hummed. “How thoughtful of you.”
He stepped aside, finally moving out of the way, and gestured dramatically to the portrait hole. “After you, my dear.”
You walked past him, but just before stepping inside, you turned back slightly, smirking. “Try harder next time, Black.”
Sirius chuckled, watching as you disappeared into the common room.
And for the first time since this whole thing started, he realized—he was the one who needed to be careful.
Because this?
This wasn’t a game anymore.
The realization.
If someone had told Sirius Black a month ago that he’d be spending every single day trying to fluster a girl and failing miserably, he would’ve laughed in their face.
If they had told him that, in the process, he’d start genuinely enjoying her company instead of just playing around? That he’d actually start looking forward to seeing her, not just for the game but because… he liked being around her?
He would’ve called them a liar.
But here he was.
You had barely stepped into the classroom when you noticed something was off.
Your usual seat, the one you had claimed since the start of the year, was occupied.
And not by just anyone.
Sirius Black sat in your chair, lounging as if he owned the place, a smug smirk firmly in place.
You narrowed your eyes. “You’re in my spot.”
Sirius stretched lazily, arms behind his head. “Oh? Didn’t see your name on it.”
You huffed, placing a hand on your hip. “Move.”
His grin widened. “Make me.”
Oh, he wanted this.
He was practically begging for you to retaliate, thinking he had the upper hand, that he controlled this game.
Well.
He was about to learn exactly why you were a worthy opponent.
You gave him an innocent smile, stepping forward slowly. He watched you, intrigued, likely expecting you to shove him out of the chair or hit him with a sarcastic remark.
Instead, you simply… sat down.
Right in his lap.
His brain, for the first time in his entire existence, short-circuited.
Sirius froze.
James, sitting across from the both of you, choked violently on his own spit.
Peter dropped his quill.
Remus barely glanced up from his book, but there was a very distinct twitch of his lips.
“Comfortable, love?” Sirius finally managed, voice noticeably strained.
You made a show of shifting slightly, settling into place, “Quite.”
Sirius swallowed. Hard.
James rolled his eyes. “You two are actually unbearable.”
You smirked. “What’s wrong, Potter? Can’t handle a little friendly seating arrangement?”
James deadpanned. “That is not a ‘friendly’ anything.”
Sirius, still struggling to recover, cleared his throat. His hands had instinctively settled on your waist when you sat down, and it seemed he just now realized it because they suddenly twitched, as if unsure whether to move away or pull you closer.
You weren’t giving him a single second to recover.
Tilting your head slightly, you turned your head back at him, bringing your lips dangerously close to his ear. “What’s the matter, Black?” you purred. “Speechless?”
Sirius inhaled sharply, gripping your waist just slightly in retaliation. “You wish,” he muttered back, his breath warm against your skin.
James slammed his hands on the desk. “I swear, if you two start shagging right now, I’m dropping out.”
Peter just covered his eyes. “I can’t watch this.”
Remus, without looking up, turned a page in his book. “Oh, please. They’ve been shagging with their eyes for months.”
Sirius barked out a laugh, but you could feel how tense he was under you. You weren’t supposed to be this bold. You were supposed to roll your eyes and huff at him, not actually play along.
You smiled sweetly. “You alright, darling? You seem a bit… tense.”
Sirius swallowed again, eyes locked onto yours, something sharp and dark flickering in them. “Oh, sweetheart, I’m more than alright.”
“Oh, bloody hell,” James groaned, dramatically slumping onto the desk.
Peter still had his hands over his eyes, mumbling something about his innocence being shattered.
Remus just turned another page, unimpressed. “If you lot are done providing the rest of us with free entertainment, I’d like to get through at least one class today without wanting to fling myself into the Black Lake.”
He narrowed his eyes at you, trying to act as if this wasn’t affecting him in the slightest. “I hope you realize you’ve just started something you can’t finish, love.”
You hummed, your face still turned to his, almost touching. “Oh, I always finish what I start, Black.”
Sirius, determined not to be outdone, tightened his grip on your waist ever so slightly, shifting just enough to remind you of where exactly you were sitting. His lips curled into a devilish grin as he leaned in slightly.
Peter peeked through his fingers at you and Sirius, then promptly covered his eyes again. “Nope. Still too much.”
“Careful, love,” he murmured, voice smooth as silk. “You might actually start liking it here.”
And that was when Professor Slughorn walked in.
“Ah, good morning, my dear students!” Slughorn’s voice boomed through the classroom, cheerful and oblivious.
You and Sirius froze.
James’ eyes widened. “Oh, this is better than detention—”
Before he could even finish that sentence, you had launched yourself out of Sirius’s lap so quickly it was like you’d Apparated.
Sirius, whose hands had still been on your waist, was left gripping air, looking momentarily lost before hastily readjusting his posture, trying to appear as if nothing had happened.
You were already in the seat beside him, perfectly composed, as if you hadn’t just been sprawled across his lap like a queen on her throne.
Slughorn, still cheerfully setting down his books, was thankfully none the wiser.
“This isn’t over” Sirius mumbled.
You smirked, pretending to focus on your textbook. “I’d be disappointed if it was.”
Something more?
Sirius Black did not get nervous. He did not overthink. He did not, under any circumstances, lose control of his own game.
And yet—
Ever since that moment in the charms classroom, ever since the way she had looked at him, the way she brought him closer by his tie, her face barely brushed against his—
He was a mess.
He kept telling himself it was nothing. A fluke. Just a moment of bad timing. He had spent weeks flirting with you, teasing you, pushing your buttons, waiting for that one moment where you would crack—where you would get flustered, where you would lose.
But now?
Now he wasn’t even sure what the prize was anymore.
It started at breakfast.
He had taken his usual seat beside James, stretching his arms over his head with a yawn. “Morning, peasants,” he greeted, swiping a piece of toast off James’ plate.
“Morning, git,” James shot back, snatching the toast back.
Sirius ignored him, gaze already drifting down the table—searching, waiting—
And there you were.
You were laughing at something Lily had said, your head thrown back slightly, eyes crinkled with amusement. The way you smiled—the way you always did that little thing where you bit your lip slightly when you were trying to suppress a laugh—
Sirius inhaled sharply and immediately looked away.
James, who had never in his life missed an opportunity to be annoying, noticed.
James narrowed his eyes. “What was that?”
Sirius took a bite of his toast. “What was what?”
“That.” James wiggled his eyebrows. “You looked at her like—like—”
“Like he wants to marry her,” Peter supplied unhelpfully.
Sirius choked on his toast.
James gasped. “Oh my god.”
Remus, who had been listening from across the table, sighed. “Please don’t start.”
James pointed his fork at Sirius. “You like her.”
Sirius, still recovering from his near-death experience, wiped his mouth and glared. “I do not.”
James grinned. “You do.”
“I don’t.”
“You so do.”
“I—” Sirius turned back toward you, ready to prove a point, ready to do something to remind himself that this was just a game—
And, of course, you were already watching him.
You raised an eyebrow, lips twitching with amusement. Busted.
Sirius swallowed hard. “Shut up, Potter.”
James cackled.
The day went on as always. Classes, quidditch practice, pranks.
At night, the castle was quiet, the corridors nearly empty as Sirius found himself walking beside you after curfew.
It had been an accident, really—one of those oh, you’re here too? kind of moments. You would both been sneaking back to the dorms after separate misadventures and had somehow fallen into step beside each other.
You weren’t even teasing anymore. Not really. Just talking.
And Merlin help him, Sirius liked it.
He liked the way your voice softened when you talked about things you loved. He liked the way you sighed dramatically every time he said something mildly ridiculous. He liked the way you walked—confident, effortless, like she owned every damn corridor of this castle.
And he liked—
Oh.
Oh shit.
“Sirius?”
He blinked. “Hmm?”
You studied him for a moment, eyes glinting with curiosity. “You okay? You looked like you were having an existential crisis just now.”
He scoffed. “Please, I don’t do existential crises.”
You smirked. “You sure? Because you definitely looked like you were having a moment.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “I was just… thinking.”
You gasped dramatically. “Thinking? You?”
He huffed a laugh. “You’re hilarious.”
“I know.”
There was a pause—a comfortable, easy silence.
And then you nudged him lightly with your shoulder. “You never answered.”
Sirius raised an eyebrow. “Answered what?”
“What you were thinking about.”
His stomach flipped.
He could lie. He should lie.
But instead, he just—
He looked at you.
And damn it all, he knew.
He had known for a while.
Sirius cleared his throat, stalling. “Oh, you know. Just deep, profound thoughts about life and the mysteries of the universe.”
You shot him a knowing look. “Uh-huh. And by that, you mean?”
He smirked, hands tucking into his pockets. “Why the bloody hell Filch still uses oil lamps when we have lumos.”
You rolled your eyes but laughed, shaking your head. “Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant, Black. Truly, your intellect knows no bounds.”
“Glad you noticed,” he quipped, nudging you back lightly.
And then it happened again—that lull. That moment of easy silence that should have been awkward but wasn’t. It was almost… nice.
Because you were watching him—really watching him—with those knowing eyes of yours. And maybe he was imagining it, but your usual teasing smirk wasn’t there. Instead, there was something softer, something curious, like you were actually interested in his answer.
Sirius hated it.
Because it meant something had changed.
He wasn’t supposed to enjoy your company like this. He wasn’t supposed to find it fun to just walk and talk with you without trying to one-up each other. He wasn’t supposed to feel his chest tighten slightly when you laughed at something genuine he said, rather than some over-the-top flirtation.
Merlin’s bloody beard, he was in trouble.
And he definitely wasn’t supposed to notice the way the moonlight caught in your hair, or how your eyes sparkled when you were amused, or how—
“You’re doing it again,” you observed, voice teasing but gentle.
Sirius blinked, forcing himself back to reality. “Doing what?”
“Thinking too hard,” you said, nudging him again. “That’s twice in one night. Are you feeling alright?”
“I’m fine,” he insisted, maybe a little too quickly.
Before Sirius could even attempt to come up with something—something witty, something that would push this moment back into the realm of teasing where it was safe—the sharp sound of footsteps echoed down the corridor.
They both froze.
Filch.
Sirius grabbed her wrist without thinking, tugging you into the nearest alcove. You barely had time to press yourselves against the stone wall before Filch’s lamp light flickered against the opposite wall, his grumbling voice growing louder.
Sirius could feel your breath against his neck, warm and too close. You were right there, pressed against him, your body tucked between his and the cold castle wall, and Merlin’s bloody beard, this was not helping his already spiraling thoughts.
You shifted slightly, just enough to glance at him, your lips dangerously close to his jaw. “Well, this is cozy,” you whispered.
Sirius huffed a quiet laugh, though his heart was hammering. “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”
You smirked, your voice low, teasing. “Maybe.”
Filch’s footsteps paused just outside the alcove.
Sirius didn’t breathe.
Neither did you.
For a moment, it was just the sound of Filch’s muttering, the flicker of the lamp light, the distant creak of the castle settling.
Then, mercifully, the footsteps started moving again, fading into the distance.
You exhaled slowly. “That was close.”
Sirius turned his head slightly, the movement bringing his lips just a fraction closer to yours. “Too close,” he murmured.
You were looking at him now, your eyes catching the faint glow of the lantern light. There was something different in them—something Sirius couldn’t quite place, but felt deep in his chest.
You weren't smirking anymore.
And neither was he.
The air between you shifted.
Your gaze flickered to his lips—so fast he might have imagined it, but Merlin, he hoped he didn’t.
His grip on your waist tightened slightly, just for a second. He could lean in. He could close the space. He could—
Footsteps again.
You jumped apart.
This time, it was Peeves, floating lazily through the corridor, humming some dreadful little tune to himself.
Sirius exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair, trying to gather himself. When he turned back to you, you were watching him with an unreadable expression.
Then, because you were you, you smirked.
“Almost had a moment there, Black.”
Sirius, still feeling the ghost of her warmth against him, forced a grin. “You wish.”
But his heart was still pounding.
Not a game anymore.
It had been building.
For weeks, maybe even months. The teasing, the flirting, the lingering glances, the casual touches that weren’t so casual anymore. Every moment had been leading up to this—an inevitable collision of something they both had tried (and failed) to ignore.
And, as it turned out, there was only so much tension two people could handle before something snapped.
You were alone in the Gryffindor common room—again. It had become your place, their quiet retreat when everyone else had gone to bed. Sirius lounged on the couch, legs stretched out, hands behind his head, exuding obnoxious levels of confidence.
You sat beside him, one knee tucked under you, arms crossed, watching him with amusement.
Sirius smirked. “You stare at me an awful lot, love. Starting to think you actually fancy me.”
You scoffed. “Please. I stare at you the same way someone stares at a particularly dumb puppy.”
Sirius gasped, hand flying to his chest. “You wound me.”
You smirked. “You deserve it.”
“Oh, come on,” he drawled, shifting so he was closer to you. “Admit it. You think I’m irresistible.”
You rolled your eyes. “You wish.”
“I know,” he shot back, winking.
And that—that damn wink—was the final straw.
Because Sirius Black was—
Infuriating.
Cocky.
Too smug for his own good.
And yet, for some stupid, ridiculous, absolutely insane reason—
You wanted him.
And you wanted him to shut up.
So, without thinking, without hesitating, without any of your usual control—
You grabbed the collar of his stupid perfectly rumpled shirt—
And kissed him.
Sirius made a muffled sound of surprise—because, to be fair, he had not expected that.
But then—
Oh.
Oh, he liked this.
Your hands were tangled in his shirt, holding him in place like you were daring him to move away (as if he ever would ). His mind short-circuited, all thoughts completely gone except for you.
And Merlin, you kissed like you meant it.
Like you had been holding back just as much as he had.
Like you knew this had been coming all along.
Sirius reacted instinctively—one hand moving to the back of your neck, the other gripping your waist, pulling you impossibly closer. He tilted his head, deepening the kiss, savoring the way you melted into him—
And, bloody hell, he was gone.
He stared at you, breathing heavily, lips tingling, brain struggling to catch up.
When you finally pulled back (too soon, far too soon), Sirius was dazed.
You smirked. “Finally shut you up.”
Sirius blinked.
And then—
He grinned.
“Oh, love,” he murmured, voice lower than before, hands still on her waist, “if that’s how you plan to shut me up, I’m never stopping.”
You laughed—breathless, amused, maybe even a little shaken—but you didn’t move away.
Sirius tilted his head. “You liked that.”
You raised an eyebrow. “So did you.”
Sirius smirked. “Obviously.”
A pause.
A shift.
The air between you still charged, still crackling with something you could no longer ignore.
And then—
“Are we going to talk about this?” you asked, voice softer now.
Sirius exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “Honestly?” He met your gaze, something real in his expression. “I have no idea what to say.”
You hummed. “Good. Me neither.”
Another pause.
Another glance at your lips.
And then—
Sirius smirked. “Wanna do it again?”
You rolled your eyes—but then you grabbed his tie and pulled him in for another kiss.
And this time, neither of you were pretending.
You both didn’t stop at just one kiss.
Or two.
Or three.
It was impossible to stop when every touch, every kiss, every breath made you want more.
Sirius wasn’t sure how much time had passed—minutes? Hours? A lifetime?—before you finally broke apart, still tangled up in each other on the Gryffindor common room couch.
You were curled into his side, head resting against his shoulder, your fingers lazily tracing patterns over the fabric of his shirt. Sirius had one arm slung around your waist, holding you way too close for someone who was definitely not in love.
(Except he absolutely was).
The fire crackled in the silence, casting flickering shadows around the room.
Neither of you spoke for a long time.
And that was the problem.
Because now—now, you both actually had to deal with this.
Sirius was screwed.
Absolutely, entirely, undeniably screwed.
Because less than twelve hours after the greatest (and most terrifying) kiss of his life, the Marauders found out.
And they did not take it well.
“YOU DID WHAT?!”
Sirius winced as James’ very loud, very dramatic voice echoed through the dormitory.
Peter, wide-eyed, turned to Remus. “I knew something was up!”
Remus smirked knowingly. “Oh, we all knew.”
James, meanwhile, was pacing the room like a madman. “Okay, okay, hold on—” He spun on Sirius. “You kissed her?”
Sirius sighed. “Yes.”
James pointed aggressively. “And you liked it?”
Sirius scowled. “Obviously.”
Peter gasped. “Oh, no.”
Remus snorted. “Oh, yes.”
James took a deep breath, eyes gleaming with mischief. “Pads…” He grinned. “You like her.”
Sirius froze.
And that—that tiny moment of hesitation—was all they needed.
James screamed.
Peter looked shocked.
Remus looked entirely too smug.
Sirius groaned. “For Merlin’s sake, I don’t—”
James tackled him onto the bed. “YOU’RE IN LOVE.”
Sirius nearly threw his pillow at him. “I am not in love.”
Remus, sitting across from them, raised an eyebrow. “You do realize you’ve spent every waking moment with her lately, right?”
Peter nodded. “And you don’t even flirt with other girls anymore.”
James smirked. “And you look at her like she hung the bloody moon.”
Sirius scowled. “I do not.”
James leaned back, arms behind his head. “You know what? I think we should all start placing new bets.”
“Oh, do tell,” Remus said dryly.
James grinned. “I bet he admits he loves her by the end of the month.”
Sirius choked. “I don’t—”
“Oh, come on, Pads,” James interrupted. “It’s so obvious.”
Peter nodded. “You’re, like, way too soft around her now.”
Sirius scowled. “I am not—”
“You literally tucked her hair behind her ear yesterday,” Remus said flatly.
Sirius froze.
James and Peter howled with laughter.
“HE KNOWS!” James cackled. “HE KNOWS HE’S SCREWED!”
Sirius groaned, running a hand down his face. “I hate all of you.”
James smirked. “No, you hate yourself for falling so hard.”
The truth.
Sirius had never been nervous before.
Not really.
Not in a way that mattered.
But now? Now, as he stood in the dimly lit common room, watching you sit cross-legged on the couch, waiting for him to say something, his heart was pounding.
Because this was it. This was the moment he decided to stop being a bloody coward and actually talk to you.
No more hiding. No more pretending.
Just… the truth.
Sirius exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. "So, um… I need to tell you something."
You raised an eyebrow, amused. "That sentence is never a good sign."
Sirius smirked. "Depends on your definition of ‘good,’ love."
You rolled your eyes. "Alright, Black. Out with it."
Sirius hesitated. He could still back out, still pretend nothing had changed between you—
But he didn’t want to.
He took a breath. “The whole flirting thing… the game we were playing.” He met your gaze. “It started because of a bet.”
You didn’t even blink. “I know.”
Sirius frowned. “Wait—what?”
You smirked. “I know about your little bet with James.”
Sirius groaned, rubbing his temples. “Of course you do.”
You eyes sparkled with mischief. “Did you really think James Potter could keep his mouth shut about something that entertaining?”
“Merlin,” Sirius muttered. “I should have.”
You laughed, then tilted your head. “Why are you telling me this now?”
Sirius hesitated again—but only for a second. “Because it’s not a game to me anymore.” He met your gaze, something real in his expression. “I like you. And I didn’t want this to be built on a stupid bet.”
You didn't speak immediately. Just studied him, like she were assessing him.
Sirius forced himself to keep his usual bravado at bay, to let you see him instead of the version of himself he usually put on for the world.
And then—
You smiled.
A real, genuine smile.
“Well,” you said lightly, “that’s interesting.”
Sirius narrowed his eyes. “Why?”
You bit your lip, amusement dancing in your expression. “Because, Black… I had a bet too.”
Sirius blinked. “What?”
You grinned. “James bet me that I couldn’t make you fall for me.”
Sirius froze.
His brain short-circuited.
And then—
“I’m going to kill him.”
You cackled, clapping your hands. “Oh, this is perfect.”
Sirius groaned, sinking onto the couch beside you. “James bloody Potter.” He looked at you, half-amused, half-furious. “You knew?”
You nodded, smug. “Of course.”
Sirius threw his hands in the air. “James set us up.”
You shrugged. “And it worked.”
Sirius opened his mouth—then paused.
Because—
Oh, Merlin.
It did work.
He turned to look at you. “You actually like me?”
You rolled your eyes. “Why do you sound so surprised?”
Sirius scoffed. “Because you were supposed to be the one hopelessly falling for me.”
You smirked. “Guess James was right, then.”
Sirius groaned. “I hate him.”
You nudged him playfully. “No, you don’t.”
He sighed dramatically. “Fine. I love him. But I also hate him.”
You laughed, then reached out, twining your fingers through his. “For what it’s worth,” you said softly, “I was never playing a game with you. Not really.”
Sirius’ heart stuttered.
Because this—this was real.
And it was terrifying.
And he loved it.
He turned your hand over in his, brushing his thumb over your knuckles. “Yeah?”
You smiled. “Yeah.”
Sirius swallowed, something tight in his throat. “So what do we do now?”
You grinned. “Well, first—” you leaned in, voice dropping to a whisper. “—you kiss me again.”
Sirius smirked. “Oh, darling, I thought you’d never ask.”
And this time, when he kissed you, there was no bet, no game—
Just the both of you.
The aftermath.
It quickly became common knowledge that Sirius and his girlfriend (which still sounded insane to him) were the most ridiculous couple to ever exist.
Because while other couples held hands and whispered sweet nothings, Sirius and you—
Well.
You teased each other, you flirted relentlessly, annoyed each other and at the same time also had your soft moments.
James Potter deeply regretted his life choices.
Because here’s the thing—when he first made the bets, it was supposed to be hilarious. Watching Sirius try (and fail) to seduce someone who actually gave him a challenge? Comedy gold.
Watching you break Sirius Black’s unshakable confidence? Even better.
And then, somehow, those two idiots actually fell for each other.
Now, every single day, James had to deal with this.
James sat at the Gryffindor table, glaring across the Great Hall.
At you both.
Sirius had an arm slung lazily around your waist, smirking as you stole food from his plate like it belonged to you.
You weren't even subtle about it. You would just reach over, pluck a piece of toast from his hand, and take a bite without breaking eye contact.
Sirius, instead of protesting like a normal person, grinned and leaned in. “Careful, darling,” he murmured, voice low. “If you keep stealing from me, I might have to take something from you.”
You smirked. “Oh? And what exactly would you take, Black?”
Sirius’ smirk widened. “Guess you’ll have to find out.”
You just shook your head and smiled, he reached out to take a sip of tea from your cup. It was strange how comfortable you were around each other.
You yawned, resting your head in his shoulder, the moment quickly shifting from teasing to softness. This was the kind of thing that always happened between you, you could just go from full on annoying each other to the cutest moment ever.
"Tired, baby?" Sirius whispered, his fingers caressing your hip softly. His voice soft.
You had a small smile in your lips. "It's all your fault and that horrible Muggle game"
"You were the one that kept asking for a rematch" Sirius grinned, letting a soft kiss in your hair.
James slammed his fork onto the table. “I hate this.”
You and Sirius came out of your love bubble, looking at James while trying to hold back the laughter. James was definitely regretting his life decisions.
Remus, barely looking up from his plate, hummed. “No, you don’t.”
James gestured wildly. “They’re so annoying.”
Peter snorted. “They’re exactly the same as before. Just… more obnoxious.”
Sirius turned to James, absolutely radiating smugness. “Something wrong, Prongs?”
James scowled. “Yeah. You two.”
You raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “Why, James, I thought you wanted us to be together.”
“I take it back.”
Sirius chuckled, pressing a ridiculously over-the-top kiss to the top of you head just to piss James off more. “Too late.”
James groaned, flopping onto the table dramatically. “This is hell.”
Remus patted his back. “You did bring this upon yourself.”
James let out a miserable sigh. “Worst idea ever.”

Never listen to aggressiv anons, your garbage is really good garbage.
If you’re feeling up to it I’m always in a remus mood, you’re so good at writing him as confident and don’t get me wrong it always makes me swoon, but i was wondering if the roles were switched and remus was the shy one for a change🥰
hi lovely thank youuu for your request!! I’m very nervous cos this is the first proper thing I’ve written in like forever… if it’s bad don’t tell me 🙉
shy!remus x fem!reader
Remus can’t figure out why you like him. He’s awkward, and weird, and too tall, and he’s got two very handsome, much less shy, best friends, plus a lot of other friends (much cooler than him), whom he assumed you’d go for before him. He was mistaken. You’re all over him.
He watches as you approach the table where he, James, Sirius, and a few other friends have set up base for the night. It’s loud in the pub, busy and warm, but you’re moving towards him like he’s the only person here.
“Remus! Hello,” You say happily, coming to a halt in front of him. You don’t offer a hello to anyone else, though Remus chalks it down to the fact they’re all busy talking, or drinking, and he’s been sitting there at the edge of the group quite in his own world.
He blinks up at you. You look lovely. You always do, but you’ve put your hair up in a way he’s never seen you do before. Remus thinks it makes your shoulders look really nice, then realises that’s a totally weird thing to think.
“Hi,” he manages. He’s shy, but he’s not usually this shy. It’s just, you’re beautiful, and he’s got a huge crush on you, and you seem almost equally endeared with him. It’s a little absurd, in his opinion.
You give him a once over, eyes raking from his face to his knees and back up again. It’s quick enough that he shouldn’t catch it, but he does, and then blushes so hard he’s sure you could cook an egg on his face.
“You look nice,” you say breezily. Your eyes zero in on his hair. “Did you cut your hair?”
Remus blinks. “I— yeah, I did,” he says, a little stunned. He hadn’t expected you to notice. It’s not much shorter than it was before, and no one other than Sirius noticed it, and that’s ’cos Sirius is a hair freak.
He’s suddenly self conscious of it. His hand moves to the back of his head, tugging at the hair there. “S’it look bad?” He asks you.
You shake your head vigorously. “No, what? It looks good,” you say, like it’s obvious.
You reach out and run your hands through his freshly cut hair, fingers pushing against his scalp. Remus’ heart goes wild and his stomach does that thing where he suddenly almost feels nauseous, but in a good way.
“I like this length on you,” you say, giving his hair a gentle tug. There’s a sort of lilting cadence to your tone that Remus has come to learn indicates you’re flirting. It sure works. Remus feels like he’s been lit on fire, heat licking up his neck and settling at the tips of his ears.
“Thank you,” he says, almost choking on the words.
You grin. You must know what you’re doing to him, he can see it in your eyes. He figures the permanent blush on his face doesn’t help.
“You’re welcome,” you say back, dropping your hand from his hair. You give his shoulder a squeeze and it’s like jolts of electricity go through his arm. “Move over? I want to sit next to you, handsome.”
Remus goes a bit blind. He obliges, much too happy to do whatever you want, shuffling across the bench to make room for you. You slide in next to him, somehow too close but not close enough, and start chatting to him animatedly about your day.
Remus tries to listen, he really does, but it gets a bit difficult when your hand finds his knee under the table. Your sweet perfume washes over him, your thumb rubs the knee of his jeans, and all he can think about is how much he’d really, really, like to kiss you.
Sirius catches his eye from across the table and smirks. He’s in for a long night.

frat!James Potter x fem!reader who was supposed to bring the beer ✿ 1.4k words
cw: fem reader, marauders as frat bros, alcohol (or lack thereof), armed store robbery with a gun (not described in detail), reader is James' lab partner
james potter masterlist
°˖✧✿✧˖°
part two
James is having a bad night. It’s 8pm on a Friday and he hasn’t had a single drop of alcohol yet. This is unusual, especially given the music blaring through the frat house with enough bass to shake the foundation. There are dozens of people here. Most of them know James even if he doesn’t know them, which is great until it isn’t.
Another one approaches him, some guy by the name of Marty or something.
“Dude,” The guy raises his arms and James’ annoyance skyrockets. He already knows what this guy is about to say. “Where’s the beer?”
“I know,” James grunts at him. Barty, that’s it. “I’m working on it.”
Barty scoffs but James is already pushing past him. He pushes through the crowd, many of whom move quickly to get out of his way. His eyes scan through, looking for someone in particular.
Where the hell are you?
James makes his way to the kitchen, seeing the counters still bare and no sign of you anywhere. He curses under his breath and pulls out his phone, scrolling through his contact list. Just as he presses the call button, Sirius approaches him. James holds up a hand but Sirius speaks anyway.
“Prongs, where are the drinks? If one more Alpha Tau tells me my party sucks, I might go to prison.” James just glares at Sirius’ dramatics, the phone ringing endlessly in his ear. It goes to voicemail and he hangs up with a groan.
“I thought you said you handled it!” Sirius stresses just as Remus walks into the kitchen, beelining for the two of them.
“I did!” James argues, running a hand through his already unruly hair with a huff.
“What’s going on?” Remus asks, crossing his arms and looking between James and Sirius with a narrowed stare. “Is this about the beer?”
“Yes!” Sirius stresses again, and points at James, “It’s James’ week to get drinks. But here we are, at 8pm on Friday and…” Sirius gestures to the empty countertops. “No drinks!”
“You tell ‘em, Sirius!” James hears Barty shout from across the kitchen and James fears he and Sirius might both end up in prison together.
“I thought I handled it.” James tells both of his frat brothers, shrugging a bit.
“What does that mean?” Remus asks, his brow furrowing. “Did you buy the drinks or not?”
James at least has the decency to look sheepish, running a hand over the back of his hair as he inhales through his teeth. “I may have… asked my lab partner to get it for me.”
Sirius gasps, raising a hand to his chest as though clutching his pearls, “I thought pawning drinks off on someone else was against the rules!”
“It is.” Remus tells Sirius, looking at James with an expectant stare.
“I was using it as an excuse for us to meet up, you know? So the two of us can hang out…” James feels his stomach churn when Sirius’ face bends into a knowing smirk.
“Oh, I understand…” Sirius winks at James, “To ‘hang out.’” His air quotes make Remus roll his eyes and James glare harshly.
“Someone needs to go get drinks.” Remus reminds the two of them. The party crowd is getting routier behind him.
“James, it’s your week, so off you go.” Sirius nudges James toward the front door. “You never know, you might find your lover along the way!”
“Oi, fuck off!” James calls back to him right as the door slams closed behind him.
As he begins the trek to the store, he attempts to call you several times. Every attempt is met with voicemail. He texts you, and all of them are left unread. James finds frustration and anger building in his gut, not solely from the lack of alcohol but also from being stood up, apparently. James Potter has never been stood up in his life.
On his seventh attempt to call you, it doesn’t even ring. It goes straight to voicemail. His jaw clenches and his fists ball up and he finds himself spewing words he shouldn’t say, airing his frustrations out to you. He calls you things like selfish and rude, and even a bad friend.
By the time he turns onto the last street, his anger has mostly turned into disappointment. He’d really been looking forward to seeing you tonight, and though it hadn’t been to sleep with you like Sirius had suggested, he had been considering it your first date.
James is lost in thought as he approaches the store, steps scraping gently across the pavement. He’s thinking about what he might say to you during your lab on Monday when he hears your voice. It catches his attention immediately and he looks up, eyes searching for you.
There you are, just as pretty as always, but something’s wrong. You’re standing in front of the store, tear-stains evident on your cheeks as you speak to a police officer. James’ heart sinks into his stomach and he’s by your side before he can stop himself.
“Hey,” His voice is low and soothing, more comforting than he thought he could be but you look up at him like he’s saved your life and his heart pounds. “What’s going on?”
James’ eyes dart nervously between you and the police officer, but the uniformed man shakes his head a bit. “I’ve got everything I need. You gon’ be okay?” James is a bit confused but he realizes the officer’s words are directed at you when he sees you nodding.
“Yes, sir. Thank you very much.” Your voice is a bit choked and you wipe at your cheeks before turning to him. He feels like he needs to scoop you up in his arms, to do something to help put you back together and get that look out of your eyes.
“What happened?” James’ hands reach for your arms, settling on your elbows. His thumbs brush over your skin soothingly and you feel tears burning in your eyes again at his gentle movements.
“I was…” You swallow thickly when your voice cracks, “I was trying to get the drinks for your party and some guy came in and he was yelling at the cashier, and he… he had a gun, and I didn’t know what to do and you kept calling me and I was trying to answer but-”
James shushes you before you can continue spiraling, shaking his head. Guilt surges through him, knowing what his texts say. And that voicemail…
“Don’t worry about it.” He assures you, and his dark eyes meet yours. “Is it okay if I hug you?” As soon as you nod, he wraps you in a tight embrace, like he really is trying to put you back together. You both stand like that for a long moment until he feels your body relax, your soft sigh brushing his ear in a puff of warm air.
James pulls back and moves to cup your face with one hand, brushing his thumb over your cheek. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” You tell him with a soft nod and an even softer smile. It’s one that gives James butterflies and he suddenly feels bad having you look at him like that when…
“Just… delete all of those texts from me.” He says, and your brow furrows, lips parting a bit to question him but he speaks again before you can. “And please don’t listen to that voicemail.”
You look to the side before your eyes meet his again, a confused smile on your lips. “What? Why, what did you say?” The smile fades when James doesn’t play off his words like he always does.
“Okay, I’ll delete them.” His face relaxes a bit at your words and he looks back up at the shop. He hears his text notification sound, but he ignores it, his eyes settling on your face again instead.
“Do you… Are you still coming to the party?” He asks, and he hates the way desperation is plain in his tone.
“I was hoping to, yeah.” Your smile turns a bit shy and sweet now and James beams, his hands on your shoulders.
“Okay, great! So we’ll get drinks and then walk back together!” His smile falters and he hesitates then, looking back at the store. “Actually, you wait here. I’ll go get drinks. You don’t need to come back inside.” Your heart almost breaks at his consideration for your feelings. You move up on your toes to press a kiss to his cheek.
“Okay,” You say, “I’ll be waiting right here.”

Worth it┃sirius black
summary: where Sirius is completely in love with James's sister, but everytime he wants to ask her on a date somehow ends up doing something embarrassing
just sirius being a dumbass in love

Sirius Black, known for his confident attitude and big ego, became a totally different person when it came to Y/n Potter, James' twin sister. From the moment he first saw her on the Hogwarts Express, he fell in love with her. Her bright eyes, her laughter that echoed through the halls, and her loyalty to her friends captivated Sirius in a way he couldn't explain.
However, every attempt Sirius made to impress her seemed to end in humiliation. Whether it was tripping over his own feet, accidentally dropping a potion in Potions class while he was trying to show off, or simply forgetting his words when she stared at him or smiled, Sirius managed to humiliate himself over and over again and the marauders found endless fun in his failed attempts.
One particularly incident occurred during a Gryffindor Quidditch match. Sirius had been practicing tirelessly, determined to catch Y/n's eye with his skills as a Seeker and impress her (again). As he zoomed across the pitch during the game against Slytherin, he spotted Y/n cheering enthusiastically in the stands. Heart pounding with nerves, Sirius dove towards the Snitch, only to misjudge his speed and crash into a ring, sending the Snitch away to the opposite end of the field. The entire stadium bursted into laughter, including Y/n, who clapped a hand over her mouth, trying to stifle her giggles.
"Nice one, Pad! Maybe next time you'll catch something other than the ground," James joked mercilessly after the match, laughing his head off, slapping Sirius on the back.
Sirius tried to laugh, but inside he felt enormous disappointment and shame. He had wanted with all his might to impress Y/n, to show her that he was more than just a prankster or a reckless troublemaker. But every time he tried, it seemed like he only managed to make a fool of himself.
Despite his repeated failures, Sirius refused to give up, she was worth it and he wasn't going to give up so easily. He found himself casting nervous glances at Y/n during meals in the Great Hall, trying to work up the courage to approach her. However, every time he decided to talk to her, his tongue would get stuck and his palms would sweat. Even simple greetings turned into awkward exchanges in which Sirius would end up stumbling over his words or making some ill-timed joke that fell flat.
One rainy afternoon, Sirius was sitting in his dorm with his friends. Peter and Remus were playing a game of wizard chess nearby while James lay on his bed playing with his snitch, occasionally casting sympathetic glances in Sirius' direction.
"You know, mate," Remus began tentatively, moving a knight on the board, "maybe you should just ask her out straightforwardly. None of this grand gesture stuff. Just be yourself."
Sirius sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I've tried, Moony. Every time I try to talk to her, I end up making a complete fool of myself. She probably thinks I'm an idiot by this point."
James chuckled "Nah, she doesn't think you're an idiot. Just a bit… charmingly clumsy as she told me."
Sirius rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help but smile at his friends' attempts to cheer him up. Deep down, he knew they were right. Maybe he had been going about it all wrong. Perhaps what Y/n needed was not grand gestures or witty banter, but simply honesty.
The next day, Sirius was walking through the black lake, letting his feet walk without any direction, however he realized that he was precisely addressing Y/n who was reading a book in front of the lake. His heart raced as he made his way over, his friends watching with anticipation from a distance.
"Here goes nothing," Sirius muttered under his breath, taking a deep breath to steady his nerves.
As he approached Y/n, she looked up and smiled warmly at him. Sirius felt his legs weak.
''Hey Y/n''
''Hey sirius, what's up?''
''everythings fine, um I wanted to ask you something''
Sirius felt his throat dry and his mind went blank.
''Are you okey sirius? you seem a bit...pale'' Y/n asked doubtfully, standing up and getting closer to Sirius.
''No! I'm good don't worry!'' Sirius was actually planning on pretending to faint, or running away.
''Okey?..Well anyways I also wanted to ask you something''
Sirius was about to open his mouth to let the words out but Y/n interrupted him.
''I was wondering if you'd like to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?" Y/n said smiling ear to ear
Time seemed to stand still for Sirius. His eyes widened in shock, his mouth hanging open. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Did she just ask him out before he could ask her?
Taken by surprise, Sirius took a step back, his heart racing even more. To his surprise, he tripped on a tree root and fell to the ground with a thud.
Laughter erupted in the distance, echoing through the garden. James, Remus and Peter had been responsible for these as they were almost crying of laughter, unable to contain their amusement at Sirius's latest fall.
Sirius lay on the ground for a moment, his face burning with shame. He stood up as quickly as he could, trying to maintain some semblance of composure and dignity.
Y/n rushed over to him, concern mixing with her laughter. "Oh my god!, are you okay?"
Sirius nodded, his cheeks still flushed. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just… just caught me by surprise, that's all."
Y/n chuckled softly, offering him a hand up. "Sorry about that. I couldn't resist."
Despite the embarrassment, Sirius couldn't help but grin. "No need to apologize. I… I'd love to go to Hogsmeade with you."
Y/n smiled wildly, relief evident in her eyes. "Great! It's a date then."
Sirius felt a wave of relief and excitement. He had managed to get through another embarrassing moment, but this time he had turned out better than he could have imagined.
As they separated, the rest of the marauders approached him, still laughing at him. James patted him on the back, shaking his head in amusement and hugging him by the side and Sirius couldn't help but do a little victory dance.
Despite all his fumbles and embarrassing moments, he knew one thing for certain: Y/n Potter was worth every stumble and every awkward pause.

red solo cup — send me an au + a character n i’ll write u a blurb ie rockstar!sirius rugby!james bartender!eddie
omg rugby!james I’ve missed him!! what about him introducing you to the team for the first time at an after party or something 😋
pints
summary james introduces you to his rugby mates over a few pints. your nerves go unwarranted, his friends are hilarious.
content james potter x reader, she/her pronouns used,
note mal and i being number one rugby!james fans always
You think if you spin the ring on your finger any longer, it’ll burn a mark into your skin. You’re so nervous you could throw up. You hope the uber driver is met with every red light there is.
James grabs your hand and puts it in his lap. “Darling,” he squeezes you twice, “what’s the matter?”
You’re not sure if you’re bad at steeling yourself or if James knows you like the back of his hand. Maybe both. “Hmm?” You play dumb.
“You won’t stop fiddling.” He smiles something sympathetic and doubles down. “Take a deep breath.”
You do as he says, mostly because you like being bossed around a little bit, more so because your throat burns with nerves. You hate being read for filth.
“Jamie,” You don’t know how to tell him without sounding pathetic, “what if they hate me?”
“Who?” He laughs. You despise him a little bit for it, your nerves aren’t a laughing matter. Are you being stupid?
“Your friends.”
He laughs some more and then he stops because you don’t join. You smile but you can tell you look silly.
He squeezes your hand in both of his now and leans in until his seatbelt is taut. “Baby, no.” He’s still smiling, he definitely thinks you’re stupid. “I’m sorry. Sorry. They won’t hate you.”
“They might.”
“They won’t.”
The uber pulls up and you both thank him before clambering out of his car. You fix your skirt and wonder if you’re overdressed. Or underdressed. You don’t know a lot about Jamie’s friends, only things he’s told you here and there since you started seeing each other.
James stands in front of you before you move inside and puts his hands on your waist. His fingers spread over your linen shirt and it bunches up in the back.
“They won’t hate you,” he says. You know he’s serious, obviously he is, but all you can think about is how badly you could screw this up. “Seriously. What’s there to hate? You’re amazing.”
“Okay.” You nod and he takes you by the hand.
When you’re inside the pub, pint in hand, James takes you to find his teammates that have shown up already. You hear a whistle and then an “Oi!”
You both turn around. “Sirius!” James shouts.
You follow closely behind as you both make your way over to their table. A few of his teammates crowd the table. You can’t help it, but you keep yourself to the side of James unthinkingly.
James says hello and then it’s your turn.
“This is my lovely girlfriend, Y/N!” James looks proud, happy that it’s you he’s introducing. It’s gives you an ounce of confidence you so desperately need.
“Hello!” You’ve always been good at hiding your nerves. You think it’s how you bagged James.
A tall, lanky, sandy-haired boy reaches out and shakes your hand. He smiles warmly, smelling of lager and crisps. “Lovely to meet you. I’m Remus.”
“We call him Moony,” James butts in.
“Hi.” You smile just as kindly and hope your hands aren’t too sweaty.
“Sirius.” His friend leans in again. He puts his pint down and its splashes on the table. “The better looking player for The Marauders.” He gives you a hug. You’re not sure if he’s drunk or if this is just him. You’ve heard a few things, still you laugh because he’s funny either way.
“Sirius…” James elbows his friend in the side.
“What?!” Sirius guffaws. “I'm not sure how he's scored you."
"Sirius, please sit down."
You laugh at him, you've gone a little red and James looks half incensed. "I need you to be normal, just for once please."
"I'm always normal!" He sits back down in his chair and you and James follow suit. "If anyone needs to be normal it's Frank."
"I haven't said a word!" You're assuming it's Frank who pipes up. "I'm sorry, it's lovely to meet you."
You smile over the top of your drink and James squeezes your leg.
"So," You worry about what Sirius is going to say next, "have you seen James sleep walk yet?"
You gasp, "What! Oh my god I didn't know you did that?"
"I don't-"
"One time," Sirius leans in, you lean in too, giggling, "we were in Cornwall, right after we graduated."
"Please don't, oh my god."
"Oh, please do." You snort. James drops his head into his hands.
"James had gone to bed early and we were still up drinking. He came downstairs, naked, asking us where the toilet was."
You almost spit your drink out. You laugh so hard you almost feel bad for poor James. He steels himself and tries his hardest not to seem embarrassed. Drinking his lager like his cheeks aren't a worse shade of red than before.
"Jamie," You lean into his side and wrap an arm around his back, "I'm sorry honey, but that's hilarious."
All the boys are laughing - James is too but he's trying to hide it with his hands over his mouth.
"I'd had a lot to drink that night," James defends himself.
"I've been scarred ever since! That thing between your legs-"
"Okay! Enough, enough." James finally snaps. All of the boys burst into fits of laughter, holding their stomachs. "I have awful friends. Awful."
"I'm sorry, it really is a right of passage." Remus jokes.
"Well, you should see Sirius after smoking too much-"
"Okay! Another round on me?" Sirius stands abruptly from the table.
You think you were being a little silly, James's friends are great.

headcanons : harry potter boys x keeper!reader
↳ harry, ron, draco, neville, fred, george, remus, and sirius with a partner who can wield ancient magic (hogwarts legacy style).
↳ requests are open! submit ideas, drabbles, headcanons, or one shots to the link in my bio! don’t be shy <3
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
harry potter:
-thinks it is the coolest shit ever! when you're in a fight together and you protect him by shooting a powerful blue bolt towards the enemy that disintegrates their very beginning, he feels so proud to be your partner!
-on the other side, he also knows it feels like to have a lot of pressure and power on your side. he worries about what it must feel like to wield ancient magic and be the only living person who can see it. every time you use it, he checks on you after, ensuring that you don't feel too exhausted and can continue fighting.
-supported you so much through the trials. he didn't need to know every detail of what you did and went through but he would hold you so tight when you came back, praising you over and over for being so strong and brave.
ron weasley:
-he's a little jealous, ngl. like his partner can use this sick magic and is responsible for keeping the magic safe and alive out of the wrong hands?? why can't he do that???
-i also feel like ron would be confused, if not a little angry, that you refuse to share the power and attempt what others have before (such as isidora using the magic to remove pain). he doesn't really understand the problem and feels like the keepers are suspicious.
-he'd brag about you alllllll the time though! like oh my god every second he would find some way to bring up the fact that you can do really awesome things and that you are his awesome partner forever!
draco malfoy:
-draco loves you a lot and finds your magic incredibly cool, don't get me wrong, but i think his family swayed his pursuit of you because wouldn't it be so grand if the malfoys had a keeper in their family? someone so powerful and knowledgeable? who would pass down the truth and their magic? yes please! (every time narcissa brings it up, it irks draco but also he pats himself on the shoulder for choosing you)
-wants to know every detail about the trials and the past and the memories you're viewing! you'll come back from a trial, sweaty and tired, maybe bleeding, and he'd help you first then ask hundreds of questions after.
-your use of ancient magic is not necessarily unknown and makes you quite popular among the students of hogwarts. this, however, makes draco really jealous. if he could, he would follow you everywhere, glaring down anyone who tries to make a move on you. before you go on adventures, classes, or just to the common room, he'll drape you in his slytherin scarf as if he was marking you.
neville longbottom:
-poor thing gets so nervous when you have to complete the trials or do something incredibly important for the sake of keeping the magic safe. he knows he can't go along with you but he'd stay by your side until the very moment you enter the map chamber, whispering praises and support the whole time.
-would heal up all your wounds and take care of you if you exerted too much during a fight. he knows how much everyone depends on you and the least he can do is take care of you properly! he would run you a bath, apply soothing balms to your skin or use his plants to heal you up, and cuddle you tightly!
-tries his hardest to not feel useless but sometimes it's hard when you're so strong and he's so...not. of course you'll always reassure him and give him the confidence he needs but very frequently, he gets really down on himself about it.
fred weasley:
-every day he comes to you with a new scheme that involves your magic. could you make a portal that leads from the dungeons of hogwarts to the top of the astronomy tower? it's important. snape is gonna get really mad when he goes into his office? can your magic fix that?
-begs, and i mean BEGS, you to let him come along on your adventures and battles. he wants nothing more than to support you and fight along your side! as long it's not a trial, you can't help but let him come along. you usually end up saving him after he pays a little more attention to the way your whip around the battle, taking down everyone effortlessly.
-speaking of paying too much attention to you, he thinks it is so attractive than you can do what you do! he gives you some time after fighting to recuperate but then immediately he is ON you. he's kissing you and telling you how hot it is when you turn someone to just particles.
george weasley:
-he wants you to teach him everything you can. there are some things that are just simply innate and can not be taught but all your tips and tricks when it comes to fighting will now be all of his tips and tricks. you two would just find some field away from the burrow and go at it, sending spell after spell at each other. georgie is just overflowing with adrenaline and it's a great way to get it out.
-deep down, a part of him wants to be protective of you. he wants to keep you from going out into danger and taking on dangerous tasks all for magic and some old people telling you what to do. but he knows better, trust me. he knows you can defend yourself just fine but he just wants to put you in a little bubble and never let anything hurt you.
-just like ron, he will brag about you whenever he can. everyone is sitting around the great hall table, talking about how it's so cool that you defeated a troll in one fell swoop and he just wraps his arm around your shoulders, a glimmer in his eye as he proceeds to say "yeah, aren't they just so amazing?"
remus lupin:
-fears for your health and safety so much! when you come back from a trial, he's hushing you and putting you in bed, feeding you chocolate and brewing tea until you feel better!! you are bearing the weight of centuries old magic all alone. the least he can do is take care of you!
-supports your decisions throughout your entire journey as a keeper. if you truly believe that releasing ancient magic to the world and using it for more than the original keepers intended, then he understands. if you want to continue to keep it hidden, he will not question your judgement.
-this is so fluffy but i feel like you figured out how to manipulate your ancient magic to floating, bright blue scenes and pictures. around remus's time of the month (said lovingly), you'll lay in bed with him and use your wand to paint pictures of animals, lakes, waves, stars, or, in more sappy moments, your future.
sirius black:
-he thinks it is SO hot that you can take someone down without barely blinking an eye. his favorite move you do is when you lift someone into the air and slam them down repeatedly. gets blushy and turned on excited every time.
-once followed you down into the map chamber only to be very harshly yelled at by one of the keeper's portraits. he just wanted to see what it looked like and to know where you go on dangerous missions!! who can blame him, truly? definitely grumbled the whole rest of the day.
-when you two get married, he refuses to let you take his last name and instead will either take yours or say screw it and come up with one! he doesn't want his family to have the gratification of having a keeper with the black family name. he wants you to shine for who you are and in another century, he wants your name to be yours, not his.

Sirius Black x shy!reader ♡ 1.2k words
You hear Sirius’ ruckus before he’s anywhere near you. Down the hall, shouting and laughter, and then your boyfriend’s voice: “Yeah, I’m on the lookout for my bird. She likes to hide herself away, let me know if you see her?”
Your face warms, humiliation a prickly, unpleasant thing beneath your skin. The kinder part of you thinks for a second to stick your head out into the hallway so he can stop looking for you, but you can’t bring yourself to do it. A few seconds more, and it doesn’t matter. Sirius twists the handle of the door to your refuge, his amused gray eyes finding you in an instant.
“Hey there, sweetness.” His voice is smooth and easy. He closes the door behind him, settling down across from you on the carpeted floor like it’s the most natural thing in the world. “Lily told me you went to go get another drink, but I think you might’ve gotten turned around. The kitchen’s just down the hall.”
“Took a wrong turn,” you say sheepishly. Sirius only smiles.
“My shy girl,” he croons, reaching forward and brushing his thumb over the soft hairs just below your kneecap. “If you were nervous, you could’ve just come and found me, sweet thing. I told you where I’d be.”
He had, but you couldn’t have gone to him. You already feel like such a child.
Sirius had been obviously thrilled with how well you were getting on with his friends tonight. It wasn’t like you hadn’t met them before, but this time Sirius had intentionally maneuvered you so you’d sat closest to Lily and Remus, the least obtrusive of his lot, and it had been going well. You’d been contributing to the conversation more than you were used to, encouraged by Lily and Remus’ gentle friendliness and your boyfriend’s pleased looks. After a while, James had cajoled the majority of the group into playing beer pong in the other room. Remus had stood to go, and Sirius with him, pulling his hand from yours and checking you’d be okay if he left you with Lily.
The way he’d asked it, “Think you can manage on your own for a bit, gorgeous?” all light and teasing and infused with laughter, you’d had no choice but to say yes. Even if you suddenly didn’t feel very confident you could manage, and in the end, you hadn't.
You’d let Sirius’ silly, thoughtless question get to you. Lily hadn’t even seemed to notice what he’d said, but your face had burned all the way to the tips of your ears, and all her kind, patient attempts at conversation were wasted on you. You forgot what you were going to say, stumbled over your words, apologized and awkward-laughed until you’d finally said you were going for another drink and not come back. You’d found this, a guest bedroom as far as you can tell, and hunkered down. You really hope she hasn’t taken it personally.
“I didn’t want to bother you,” you tell Sirius now, your voice so soft it’s a miracle he hears. Outside of your sanctuary, the music turns up and shouting begins, the lyrics to a song everyone knows but you.
“You could never bother me,” he promises. He’s lowered his volume to match yours. “I know how you get.”
Shame burns hot and painful behind your eyes. “It’s not—” your voice catches, and Sirius’ thumb stills on your knee. You try again. “It’s not something I do on purpose.”
“Hey, I know.” He scoots closer to you, setting his hands on your tented knees and propping his chin atop them so he’s looking at your face with just a few inches between you. His eyebrows are furrowed. “I know, sweetness. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, you know? Just that I don’t mind taking care of you when you’re feeling nervous or anything like that. You can always come find me.”
It’s hard to avoid Sirius’ gaze when he’s this close, but you manage, looking down at the carpet past your thigh. “It felt a little bit like you minded when you left to go with James and Remus,” you say quietly.
He tilts his head, steadfast in his eye contact even if you won’t reciprocate. It feels like he’s taking an inventory of your reactions as they flit across your face. You wish you were better at hiding them from him. “That upset you?” he asks, genuinely curious. “You wanted me to stay?”
“No,” you say. “Well, yes, but that’s not…it didn’t upset me. You shouldn’t need to stay with me all of the time.”
“I don’t mind,” Sirius interjects.
You look up, and he rewards you with a half-happy uptilt of his lips. His expression is kind and open now, not a lick of teasing about him.
“I don’t need you to stay with me,” you clarify. “It was just the way you asked. It made it sound like I can’t manage without you.”
“Oh.” Sirius’ brows twitch together, recalling. One of his pinkies starts to stroke absentmindedly up and down on your thigh. “Sweetheart, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. Did I embarrass you?”
“A little,” you whisper, shoulders hunching as your body tries to shrink away from him. “But it’s more that I didn’t realize you thought that.”
“I don’t,” he says quickly, voice soft but ardent. “I really don’t, honestly. It was a joke, I was just…I was being stupid. I shouldn’t have made light of it. I know you’re fine on your own, angel, that was just my dumb way of trying to ask if you wanted me to stay and trying to keep it light. I wasn’t trying to tease you.”
You tug on your bottom lip with your teeth. “It’s okay if you meant it,” you say.
“I didn’t,” Sirius promises. “Really, I swear. Can I—can I touch you? Say no if you don’t want it.”
“You’re already touching me.” Some amusement makes its way into your tone. Sirius smiles, but doesn’t move until you say, “Yeah, you can.”
His hands plant themselves on either side of your face, and then he’s jamming your knees apart with his torso, stamping his lips to your face.
“M’sorry, my sweet girl,” he mumbles, mushing the words into the side of your nose. “I was being a prat, and I’m sorry. I can’t believe I made you feel bad.”
“It’s okay,” you reassure him, smiling now. Your face is still burning hot, but the cause of that warmth is growing murky.
“No, it wasn’t nice to make fun.” He pulls back, fondness mingling with solemnity in his gray irises. “I didn’t realize it’d come off that way, but I won’t do it again, I mean it.”
“Thanks,” you reply just as sincerely. “I’m okay now, really.”
“Yeah?” He kisses between your brows. “Okay enough to go back out there, or do you wanna go home?”
You think on this for a minute. “I should probably talk to Lily for a bit before leaving. I feel bad for abandoning her.”
“She’s alright, gorgeous,” Sirius reassures you, but offers you his hands. You take them, and he hoists you up. “We’ll grab you a drink on the way, say you got sidetracked. I mean, that’s basically what happened.”
You roll your eyes, leaning into his side as he starts for the kitchen.

“Hi boys, hi Jamie!” James almost fell off his chair, gripping the table and steadying himself. Sirius snorted at the flustered boy, stumbling and flailing at the nickname.
You had approached the Marauders that morning with books piled in hand, fulfilling Remus’ offer to study with them once again that weekend. With Charlie and Hope using their free time to visit Hogsmeade, you were left to flirt with the young Potter all you desired.
You had told your friends about the growing suspicion surrounding the boy that morning, and James was about to find out just how dedicated you were to the investigation.
James watched you eagerly, eyes wide at the sight of you sitting next to him once again. “Hi, love,” he sighed, still staring in awe at your freshly washed hair and bright smile. While he tried to match your style with the affectionate nickname, his voice was laced with shaking nerves as he sought that courage that came so naturally around other girls.
The other boys were openly snickering at his lovestruck face, assuming you had caught onto James’ enamoured gestures by now. Remus pushed the History of Magic textbook between the two of you, though he didn’t say a word about actually using it. He was far too fascinated with the promising tension developing between you and his friend.
“I’ve been having the most eventful week, lads,” you began, motioning for the boys to lean in closer, with James inching his chair across to touch yours. “Someone in this school has been sending me love letters.”
After a beat of shock, all four boys started rambling exclamations of surprise and curiosity, as if they didn’t already know about your secret admirer. James gulped at your confession, mentally cursing himself for waiting just too long to react naturally. “Oh, really! That’s news! Do you, um…have any idea who it is?”
You met the boy’s gaze and whispered, “I have my theories…I mean, so far we’ve deduced it’s a boy with high intelligence, a good heart, and a crippling obsession over me.” James’ breath hitched, eyes flickering from yours to Remus’, before landing back at you.
“Well, I can’t blame him love! Who wouldn’t be obsessed with a pretty thing like you,” Sirius smirked, “In fact, I have some theories of my own about who this boy could be…”
“Well, my suspects have been narrowed down to about five Gryffindor boys, and I’m really hoping it’s the cutest one,” you held back a giggle at James’ parted lips. He prayed to Merlin that you could possibly consider him an option, let alone think that he’s the one you found the most attractive.
“But to be honest, with the way he writes about me I think I’d jump him the second he reveals himself to me, handsome or not,” you said noncommittally.
In that moment, James threw all his reservations out the window. He no longer cared if you noticed his obsession with you, the lingering stares, the flustered reactions. He wanted all of you, and he just had to do something about it. There was no point in letting his nerves dictate his behaviour around you, not after you had just given him the James Potter Flirting Experience™ opportunity of a lifetime.
“Well, say you did care about what the boy looks like…what’s your type?” James leaned closer to you, a softened grin lingering on his lips as he spoke teasingly.
You gasped, clearly shocked by his sudden change of behaviour, but responded nonetheless. “Oh I don’t know, probably…” you looked James up and down, slowly taking in his form.
“Someone tall and athletic. I definitely prefer kind boys, but he can have a little mischief to him. Probably someone with darker hair- make that curly dark hair. Light brown eyes have always caught my fancy, oh! And I love a good pair of glasses, especially when they come with a big brain and a handsome face behind them.”
James was only inches away from your face now, his small smile had grown into a stretching, flirtatious grin, smirking at you with red cheeks. His hair was curling around his smitten face as he bent to meet your eyes, forearms crossed and resting on the table.
Three mouths hung open at the explicit display of attraction in front of them, eyes sliding back and forth between you and James, as if following a thread of affection forming between you two.
“Well, are there any boys on your list that might…match that description?” Peter squeaked to break the tense silence. You held James’ gaze in your own, smiling innocently at the boy like you hadn’t just made his entire week.
“There is one, he’s my primary suspect. Though, I’m not sure there’s much evidence to prove it’s him sending me the letters…” You broke his gaze, finally looking around at the other curious faces surrounding you. “It could just be wishful thinking.”
——————— ⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ ———————
After finally making some productive efforts to study, you and the boys began claiming your belongings that were scattered across the table and making your way to dinner.
Walking down the hallway, James matched your pace and gazed at you through his thick lenses. “So, I know you and your friends normally sit at the end of the table during meals, but we were wondering if you lot wanted to sit with us tonight,” he quickly explained as the Great Hall came into view. “I…we really enjoy your company, and honestly we regret not befriending you sooner.”
Remus and Sirius had their backs turned to you and James, though you had a feeling they were quietly giggling together at his attempted invite. “Only if your friends agree, of course! No pressure…” he trailed off, looking anywhere but your eyes as his constant fear of rejection returned and sparked nervousness in his unsure voice.
“I’d love to sit with you! I mean, all of you. I’ll grab my friends,” you replied as the doors to the hall opened and you made your way inside.
“Brilliant.”
Scurrying over to your friends, you cleared your throat and made your announcement. “My dearest, loyal companions. For one night, and one night only…can we PLEASE sit with the Marauders? I think James and I are really making some progress here and they’re honestly not that bad!” Ok, maybe more of a blurted confession than an announcement, but the intention was there.
“I mean, I wouldn’t be opposed to it, if it means so much to one of my best friends. But what happened to the Gryffindor ego that seems to follow those boys around everywhere they go?” Charlie asked, a tinge of confusion lacing her giggling voice.
“I haven’t quite figured that bit out yet, but I think there’s more to them than meets the eye. They’re actually quite lovely,” you explained, watching your friends slowly stand from their places at the table and fall into step with you, plates in hand, agreeing in their trust of your judgement.
“You know,” Hope whispered as you approached the group, “I’m really proud of you. You’re opening up, it’s refreshing to see. And you’re starting to convince me that this house might actually be not so bad, after all. You’re really brave.”
You grinned at the girl, arm taking her shoulders in your grasp and squeezing in appreciation. “That means a lot, Hope, thank you.”
“Hey! We didn’t think you’d come!” Remus exclaimed as the three of you piled into the space saved next to James. “Although, James did get you a plate of food in anticipation.”
You glanced at the boy’s bashful smile, then down at the plate he placed in front of you. Charlie, Hope, and the remaining Marauders shared knowing looks.
“Oh! This is my favourite! How did you-“
“I see you take a serving every night-“
“Thank you, Jamie, you’re so kind…”
The nickname came to you naturally as your rambling distracted you from considering what you were saying. His cheeks glowed with that familiar red tint, grinning at you with squinted eyes and a puffed chest.
The conversation carried naturally between James’ friends and your own, all giggling and smiling at each other’s witty remarks. As the night continued, you found yourself slowly leaning more into James, a service to his heart which he gratefully accepted with open arms.
His arm moved to rest across your back, hand pressed into the seat beside you and inching you slightly forward on your chair, a position that almost mimicked an embrace without being too daring.
You felt warm near his toned chest, glancing at him affectionately every now and then. You missed every time he glanced back with that same lovesick expression.
“Oh, I’ve been meaning to ask! Seeing as we have a curfew for the next few days, and the History of Magic assignment is due next week, I thought you might want to pop by our dorm to study sometime.” Remus had been such a supportive new friend towards you over the past few days, intentional or not, so you nodded eagerly at his proposition.
Walking back to your dorm after a long dinner filled with laughs and smiles, you and your friends wished the others goodnight as you parted ways. Your eyes lingered on James, as his did you, before turning to your group with a smile. The silence only lasted a matter of seconds.
“OH MY GOD HE’S OBSESSED WITH YOU!”
“Charlie! Keep your voice down!”
——————— ⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ ———————
James started jogging to keep up with Peter and Sirius as they left the grounds of Hogwarts. Escaping the school was a three man job, much to James’ disappointment. Remus was left in the dorm to study with you, meaning he was obligated to join the trip. What could be more important than spending time with you?
“C’mon, Prongs, head up! You can get some sweets to woo her with on our way back,” Sirius reassured him. The days spent studying with you meant the group had missed the school allowed trip to Hogsmeade, something James insisted would be worth sacrificing every butterbeer for.
“We’ll be quick, I promise! You know I can’t survive without sugar in my system!” Sirius continued rambling as the three entered Honeydukes just before closing.
James quickly gathered a bag of chocolate frogs, buying way too many for just one person so he’d have an excuse for offering them to you. They quickly payed and dashed out of the store as the workers began to turn off the lights and lock the doors.
The walk back to Hogwarts was cold and windy, but James didn’t care. He’d get to spend time with you in the comfort of his own room, all the people he cared the most about in one place. He was planning how he would confess to you on the way back, playing out every scenario in his mind.
The best case in his imagination was simply holding up a blue envelope, wiggling his eyebrows, and grinning at you like a fool while you jumped into his arms and kissed him to death.
James had a stupid look of burning adoration on his face as the three finally entered the common room and headed to their dorm.
“Honey, I’m home!” Sirius called to Remus as he opened the door. “We brought necessary supplies and-“ He was cut short by the sight in front of him. Slowly, he inched further into the room, rounding the corner and letting Peter in with a gasp. Peter then made room for James in the doorway, glancing at him with sympathy.
The chocolate frogs dropped to the floor.
——————— ⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ ———————
The night was quiet in the Marauders’ dorm room. Remus had taken his seat on his bed as you were sat at his desk. The soft scribbling sounds of pen against paper filled the otherwise silent space as the two of you enjoyed the warmth of your newfound friendship.
After a few hours of comparing notes, quizzing each other, and chatting about your friends, Remus stood from his bed. “I might go get changed and wash up, you need anything?”
You glanced at your almost empty pot of ink, then to the fading pigment leaking from your quill. “Do you have any spare ink?”
“I don’t have any, but James definitely would. He wouldn’t mind you using it, Merlin, he’d probably thank you for touching his possessions. Try his desk over there,” he nodded across the room, leaving you to search for supplies with a chuckle.
Moving to James’ desk, you carefully shifted through his neatly organised stationary. Textbooks lined the point where the desk met the wall, and you spotted an unopened bottle of ink right next to the stack.
As you reached for the bottle, you noticed something sticking out of the closest textbook, one for your shared Potions class. The paper was dusted in a light blue shade.
You shouldn’t look through other people’s belongings, you thought, and bit back the curiosity nipping at your integrity.
You turned back to Remus’ desk, ink in hand, knocking the textbooks over in the process.
“Godric! So clumsy…” you mumbled, picking up two textbooks, a few pages of notes and…a baby blue envelope.
You stared at the material in your hand, brain refusing to believe what your heart knew to be true. Your eyes slowly drifted from the envelope in one hand to the notes in the other. The stationary, the handwriting, the nervous interactions…it all made sense.
“Honey, I’m home! We brought necessary supplies and-“ Your eyes met the source of the sound, Sirius standing in the doorway with his mouth agape. He slowly entered the room, followed by Peter, then by James.
Your face glowed with a guilty expression as James dropped his most recent purchase. You stared at him in confusion, which he returned with a look of embarrassment. You then remembered to address the elephant in the room: the envelope in your hand.
“Oh, Merlin, James- I’m so sorry! I ran out of ink and Remus said you wouldn’t mind if I used yours while he went to wash up, so I took it and knocked over all your books in the process, it slid out and I didn’t know what to do, it’s all my fault! I’m so sorry, I didn’t want it to happen like this…”
James’ expression shifted sympathetically at your rambling, composing himself and moving closer to your worried form. The other boys quietly walked back out of the room, giving you some privacy as they shut the door behind them.
“No, darling, don’t blame yourself, it’s not your fault,” he said with faltering confidence, “I meant to tell you, I really did. I was going to talk to you after my next Quidditch match - assuming we would win - because I needed the confidence to tell you. I’m so sorry, love, I really am. I hope you aren’t…disappointed…” he looked at his shoes, voice nothing more than a whisper.
“Did you mean it?”
“W-what?”
“Everything you wrote to me, did you mean it?” You clarified, a hopeful feeling washing over you. James gulped, shifting his weight between his feet as he blushed harder than ever before. “I meant every word.” It came out as a hoarse whisper as he choked on his nerves.
“Good, because I really like you, James. I honestly always have and I hadn’t even said a word to you until this year- But I desperately wanted to believe you were behind all of this, because I think you’re so charming and smart and, surprisingly, very kind.” You caught your breath after your confession, heart racing as a proud, self-assured smile emerged on your otherwise shy face.
Silence fell upon the room. You searched each other’s gaze for any evidence of ingenuity or doubt. You found none. James eventually made a sound from his parted lips.
“Willyougooutwithme!?”

Family Isn't Blood

James Potter x reader
SUMMARY: James tells his girlfriend jokes, inspired by the ones his father uses to tell his mother, really stupids and not funny at all, but all you can think about is how cute he is to think they are actually funny, what makes you understand something.
MARAUDERS MASTERLIST a/n: You don't have a defined house. Remus and Sirius aren't dating, but they have a thing.
a/n: this is justt fluff, I didn't liked so much, but alright. Tell me what you think!
w/c: 1k
English is not my first language, sorry for any mistakes!!
JAMES looked at Euphemia, who was making their lunch while he and Fleamont set the table. Sirius is still sleeping, normally James wakes up early (not so much), but today he woke up later than usual.
"You should bring your girlfriend next time, Jamie" Euphemia smiled at him.
"I know, mom. I told her to come, but her parents had already planned the trip." James rolled his eyes slightly.
"What trip?" Fleamont asked, not following the conversations about James' infamous girlfriend with Euphemia.
"[Name] went with his parents to Italy" right after she finishes speaking, Sirius comes down the stairs with the greatest laziness ever seen.
"[Name]? She went to Italy?"
"Yes Pads, she said that in front of you" James scoffed.
"She said?"
"Boys, now I really don't care about Sirius' memory loss, I finished lunch and now let's eat" Effie started bringing the food to the table.
Everyone sat at the table, each eating as much as they wanted. Fleamont then looked at the sodas on the table, and started laughing, leaving everyone else confused.
"Fleamont, what's gotten you?" Euphemia looked at him strangely.
"Guys" he laughs, not finishing the sentence. "Guys... I was thinking about something"
"Here it comes," Effie murmured, sighing.
Fleamont laughs a little more "What do you call a can opener that doesn't work?"
"What?" James spoke.
"A can't opener" Fleamont laughs again as if he had said the funniest joke in the world.
James starts laughing like his father, making Sirius join them, Euphemia also laughs, while shaking her head, but not at the joke itself, but at the chaotic family that she love so much.
———☆———
ON THE RETURN to Hogwarts, James and Sirius met Peter and Remus along the way.
"Prongs," Remus called, "Where is [Name]?"
"She's going with her friends on the train, we'll probably only see each other at Hogwarts" James replies, a little sullenly. "Pads?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you remember dad's jokes? My mom always laughs"
"Prongs, no" knowing Monty's jokes, and his friend, Remus intervenes, knowing Sirius would probably only encourage it.
"Moons, if my mother, a woman, likes my father's jokes, [Name] would like them too, and me more, right??" Remus and Peter looked at each other.
"Go and get your girl with the jokes, Prongsie!!" Sirius puts his arm around James's shoulders.
"This is going to be a catastrophe" Peter said, shaking his head and Remus just sighed.
———☆———
LATER, at Hogwarts, all the students sit in the main hall, the new students being sorted. This year, so far, most of them have been sorted into Ravenclaw, some Hufflepuffs, some Gryffindors and a few Slytherins.
At the "marauders table", you sat next to James, across from Remus.
“Princess” James looked at you. Trying to remember his dad jokes.
“Jamie” you look at him, maintaining loving eye contact, James’ eyes looked nervous, almost restless, but confident.
"Do you know what you call a can opener that doesn't work?" he tried to copy his father's tone and phrase.
"Um, no?" You furrow your eyebrows, how a can opener doesn't work at all?
"A can't opener" James started laughing again, really looking like he said the funniest thing in the world. Sirius laughed too.
These man's are not normal.
Remus taps his forehead, sighing and shaking his head while Peter grimaces but smiles a little.
James looks at you expectantly, to which you smile widely, but not at the joke itself.
"Did you like it?" his eyes used to shine, James never stopped smiling, his smile bright and full of teeth.
"Yes, I liked it" you smile, not wanting to ruin his happiness, if it's something he likes, you like it too.
James smiles even more, if that were possible and lets out a dreamy sigh, relaxing his shoulders, "my dad usually tells my mom these jokes. They invited you to spend the next vacation there" James takes your hand "you will, right?"
You shake his hand, "of course, if you want me there that much" he kisses your hand.
"Prongs, why don't you tell the one about the dog?" Sirius slams his hand on the table, grinning like a madman. Remus hits him on the head, whispering "stop", Peter chuckles, as Sirius looks at him with his normal drama.
"Ahh yes!! That one is really good" James laughs "Get ready" he clears his throat, you look at Remus with wide eyes, whatever was coming wasn't good. "Oh, what do you call a magical dog?"
Remus shakes his head furiously at you, but James looked so cute that you couldn't resist asking "how?"
"A Labracadabrador" James laughs madly, bringing tears to his eyes, Sirius laughs just as much. Peter laughs a little too, but not as much as Sirius and James. You and Remus looked at each other.
You look at James, he looked so adorable laughing and actually thinking the jokes are good and you can't help but smile sweetly at him.
"Oh" James gasps "I have another one! Calm down" he takes a deep breath. "Why don't koalas count as bears? Because they don't have the right koalifications" and James bursts into laughter again, Sirius along with him and this time Peter too.
And you can only look at your boyfriend, how sweet he looks right now. James tells another joke, but you don't even hear it, you just look at him, smiling endlessly.
For a moment you even think that it would be impossible for him to actually find the jokes funny, but then you remember: it's James, your playful boyfriend who loves to laugh and especially make others laugh, who he loves to laugh.
So you laugh, not at the joke, but for James. And Remus laughs, for Sirius.
Your little family, full of love, laughter and affection. Your real family, real home. Where you should always be.
And then you understand, as Sirius and Remus also understood, after fighting so hard, that family Isn't blood. Family is your home and you have finally found it.
Your little family.
Your little home.

'Can't have tea without biscuits'
part 1 part 2
Remus Lupin x reader
2.1k words
cw: fluff
As you stood in front of the mirror in your dorm, you decided nervous wasn’t a strong enough word for how you felt. Your friends didn’t help either. They had teased you all week about your date with Remus, mostly voicing how they didn’t understand how you got one. Sure, you’d been studying with him a lot and he’d sat with you at lunch a few times, but a date? It was a tad insulting, but if you were being honest with yourself, you understood where they were coming from.
So, you stared at your reflection and debated if you were really good enough to go on a date with the Remus Lupin. Was your outfit good enough? Why had he asked you out, given all the girls who give him all the attention in the world? Were you going to mess it all up with being too soft spoken?
Your mind was spinning. Your heart was racing. Your hands were clammy. You felt like you couldn’t get enough air into your lungs. Panic. Nerves. Fears.
Then you glanced at the clock and it all quadrupled. You were going to be late to meeting Remus if you didn’t leave your dorm like five minutes ago. You were going to be late. Lovely.
You grabbed your purse and bolted out of your room. Your outfit, makeup and hair would have to do. There was no going back now, you thought as you descended the stairs to the Entrance Hall. Remus was waiting for you with Sirius, idling chatting until you came into view. Remus gave you an easy smile the moment he saw you.
“Thank Merlin, you’re here!” Sirius said, throwing his head back to shake his hair out. “Moony thought you were standing him up.”
“Sorry, got distracted,” you said, which wasn’t a complete lie. You were distracted by your worries about messing this up.
“Ah, no worries. Just glad you didn’t stand me up,” Remus said. “Shall we?”
He gestured to the door and you nodded. The two of you left Sirius behind. A comfortable quiet sat between you and Remus as you started the walk to Hogsmeade.
“Did you really think I would stand you up?” you asked meekly.
He chuckled. A glorious sound, in your opinion.
“Only a little. You had said yes in the library, but what if you changed your mind? Decided I was coming on too strong? I was about ready to start kicking the boys for making a fool of me and not letting me wait like I wanted to.”
“Maybe I was just helping you get that extra wait,” you teased.
“That’s what it must’ve been then!”
“So, what’s the plan?”
“Figured we could start in Honeydukes? If you don’t mind, that is. I just never seem to have enough chocolate… I think Peter steals from my trunk.”
You laughed at his half-assed accusation of his friend.
“I mean, if I knew where my friends stored their sweets, I’d take a piece now and then.”
“No, no, you don’t understand. I think he steals daily. And more than one piece! There’s no way I go through that much chocolate in a week.”
“Maybe Sirius and James help him?”
Remus hummed. “Maybe… Maybe I need a better lock for my trunk. They can afford their own chocolate.”
The rest of the walk was filled with easy conversation. Remus harped on the three boys and told you about their horrendous studying habits. You told him that would probably be okay if he forced them to join your study sessions every once in a while. Remus tried to ignore the way his heart leapt at that; your offer suggested that there would still be study sessions after today, a hint that you were confident that today would go well.
Your nerves had more or less disappeared once you started walking with Remus. His presence when he was around just you was calming. It felt like every study session you’d had leading up to now.
He held open the door to Honeydukes for you. Then you proceeded to walk up to every chocolate stand in the shop. You briefly stopped at other sweet stands, but by the time you reached the register to purchase your goodies, you both had varying amounts of essentially every chocolate product they sold. Remus reached to grab your chocolate to place on the counter next to his.
“I can afford my chocolate,” you protested weakly.
You could. You certainly didn’t want Remus to think that you were mooching off of him.
“I wasn’t insinuating that you couldn’t. But we’re on a date and I’d like to pay for you.”
“Oh,” you breathed and handed Remus your items to be purchased.
He gave you a warm smile in response before handing the man a galleon and a few sickles.
“When I was complaining about Peter and them taking my chocolate, it was about them stealing. I have no problem when they take chocolate I’ve offered them. Like I’m offering to pay for everything you want today.”
Suddenly, you have a mischievous glint in your eye that Remus immediately recognized from seeing it so often in his friends’ eyes.
“So, if I said I wanted a hippogriff, you’d find a way to get it for me?”
“An addendum then, anything you want within reason.”
You shared a laugh as you walked around the streets of Hogsmeade. Remus took your hand and led you to a shop you hadn’t been in before: Steeply & Sons’ Teashop.
“Is here okay?” he asked once inside.
It was a quaint little shop with nearly no other students inside. There were a few scattered tables with residents. It was nice and calm, not nearly as bustling as you expected the Three Broomsticks would be at this moment.
“Yeah,” you said with a smile. “This is nice.”
You picked a table as Remus grabbed a teapot and cups from the counter. A server nodded in acknowledgement of your arrival.
“I thought this would be better than Broomsticks. Less busy, less crowded. As good as butterbeer is, I figured you’d like this,” Remus explained as he poured tea into your cup.
You blushed at how well Remus knew you. You busied your hands with adding enough cream and sugar to make your tea how you liked it. When you didn’t respond, a brief wave of worry crossed Remus.
“It is okay, right?” he asked with a tinge of nervousness to his voice.
You looked up. “Oh, yes. This is lovely. It’s actually quite nice that I won’t have to yell for you to hear me.”
He immediately relaxed and poured his own cup. The server approached your table with menus. He gave a brief description of the day’s specials and desserts before leaving you to browse the menus. You don’t feel compelled to create meaningless conversation as you look at what the small shop has to offer. When the server returns, you both order small sandwiches and biscuits.
“Can’t have tea without biscuits, now can we?” you laugh as the server walks away from the table.
“The most important part of having tea, if you ask me,” he replies.
“Have you been here before?” you asked before taking a sip of your tea. You hummed in appreciation of its delicate taste.
“Been inside, yes. Sat down and actually had tea, no,” Remus said. “I think I popped in out of curiosity and then decided I’d rather have butterbeer with the boys. I do like it in here though, don’t get me wrong-”
“I could see you in here if you came by yourself, or with James, I suppose. But as soon as you have more than James with you, it wouldn’t feel right.”
“Ah, you get it!” Remus exclaimed with a bit of cheek.
You paused a moment to look around the shop and its decorations.
“I like that it’s not too much, you know? I’ve heard Madam Puddifoot’s is overly frilly.” Your last word dripped with disgust, making Remus chuckle affectionately.
“I wasn’t sure if you were a pink bows and lace kind of girl. Good call on my part.”
You nodded. The server returned with your food, and you thanked him.
“I don’t think they have real food there either. God forbid I actually want lunch.”
You took a bite of your sandwich and your face lit up. It was delicious. Maintaining the conversation no longer felt like a priority as you both ate. Remus seemed to share your assessment on the quality of food as he scarfed his meal down.
Conversation returned when you returned to sipping your tea in between biscuits.
“How horrible would it be if I asked what you thought of that Charms assessment Flitwick had us do? Is it bad to talk about it on our date?” Remus asked, topping off his cup.
“Hmm, I think we can talk about whatever we want. And the assessment was something I could do in my sleep. I really thought Flitwick was above assigning busy work.”
Remus sighed contentedly. “I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that. I mean, Sirius and James, they rushed through it and left Peter to struggle with it. He really should’ve dropped Charms when he had the chance.”
“Maybe he needs it though. Certain careers require N.E.W.T. level Charms, you know.”
“He just had other strengths. Wish he picked a future that didn’t involve Charms,” Remus grumbled.
“Maybe he enjoys having you help him, hm?” you offered. “But speaking of careers, what’re you thinking?”
“Professor. Or tutor. Something with teaching and helping people understand magic.”
You smile at him, leaning forward over the table slightly.
“You’ll be great at that. You already have experience with it,” you teased.
Remus returned your smile. “That I do. Honestly part of why I know that I’ll enjoy it as a career.”
“Which subject do you have in mind?”
“Defense against the dark arts. It’s just fascinating and useful, you know?”
You nodded.
“What about you? What career drew your fancy?”
You told Remus about what you wanted to do for a job and where it might take you. Remus listened intently and asked questions about specific aspects and interest areas within your chosen career. He asked about the classes you were required to take in order to get where you wanted to be.
Talking about your future made time fly by. Too soon it was time to go back to the castle. Remus again paid for your food and drink. You took the long way out of Hogsmeade, wandering down streets you didn’t need to and retracing your steps to lengthen the time you spent together. Somewhere along the way, your hands brushed up against each other. Neither you pulled your hands away, although you had matching blushes. Then you took the lead and grabbed onto his, intertwining your fingers. When you did, he gave your hand a squeeze before turning to give you a smile. It made your heart race as you continued down streets you had already walked down.
You were completely at ease as you returned to Hogwarts. If anything, you were sad that your date with Remus was coming to an end.
“This was really nice, Remus,” you said as you entered the grounds.
“Nice enough that you’d consider doing it again sometime?”
You gave his hand a squeeze. “Will you let me pay for you?”
“Maybe. Although I think it’s the gentlemanly thing for me to pay for the second date. Perhaps you can pay for the third?”
You laugh and give him a pointed look.
“Then you can pay for the fourth and I’ll take the fifth?”
“Oh, we’re making it to a fifth date?” he teased, unable to lessen his wide grin. “I’d say today was better than really nice then.”
“Shut up,” you said with a smile that mirrored his. “Just, as of right now, I’m hopeful.”
“Me too. But, I must warn you, I can’t promise that future dates won’t be interrupted by the boys. It took more than I’d like to admit to get them to stay at the castle today.”
“You kept those poor boys cooped up all day?” you asked playfully. “They’ll be bouncing off the walls when you get back!”
“That they will, but it’ll have been worth it.”
Remus walked with you all the way to the entrance to your common room.
“Good night, Remus. And thank you for today.”
“Good night,” he replied before pulling you into a hug.
You wrapped your arms around him and took a deep breath. You let his scent fill your senses for a moment. It was comforting and lovely. And then Remus placed a gentle kiss on top of your head. You froze, arms still around his torso. He held onto for a moment longer before releasing you. Once again, you were sporting matching blushes. He just gave you a sheepish smile before turning to return to his own common room.

"Smoke"/"Change" - Jegulus microfic @into-the-jeggyverse - 523 words
-
Regulus’s first Christmas at the Potters’ was not all that Sirius had made it out to be. Yes, they were kind and generous, yes, it was everything that he and his brother had dreamed of when they were little. But it was too much. It was too perfect. It was too good for him.
At the moment, Regulus, Sirius, James, and James’s parents were sitting in the living room, drinking hot chocolate and watching muggle Christmas movies.
“I’m going out for a smoke,” Regulus mumbled to his brother. He went into the hall and grabbed the cigarettes and the lighter from his jacket, and then stepped outside.
He was leaning back against the wall, cigarette in hand, when the front door opened beside him. He had expected it to be Sirius, or maybe Fleamont, who had talked to him a few times and was actually quite easy to confide in. He hid the cigarette for a moment in case it was Fleamont, but instead, James came out and shut the door behind him.
“Those things will kill you, you know?” He observed, like the genius he was.
“Really? I hadn’t heard,” Regulus muttered, taking another drag.
“Sirius smokes, too. I’ve tried to get him to stop, and Remus. You’re all hopeless,” James scoffed, though his tone was playful.
Regulus didn’t say anything in response. He didn’t know why James was out here. Frankly, he didn’t care. He wished he was made for this type of thing, for Christmas and joy and a decent home. But he wasn’t, this wasn’t his life.
“I know it’s a lot,” James mumbled, his tone almost nervous now. “We’re a lot. It’s okay if it’s overwhelming for you. My parents won’t be angry if you need a break from it all.”
“What do you care what I need?” Regulus replied, glaring through tear-filled eyes, though at his feet so that James couldn’t tell.
“I care. I care a lot, actually. More than you let yourself believe, I imagine.” James was facing him fully, his shoulder against the wall and his gaze so fixed on him that Regulus could practically feel the weight of it. “Sirius might’ve acted like being here was heaven just to get you to stay with us, but it wasn’t easy for him, either. He didn’t feel like he deserved it. He was worried every second that our love for him was conditional, and at some point we would just…snap. Hurt him. It’s okay if that’s how you feel.”
“I’m fine,” Regulus bit. “It’s just too fucking bright and loud and- I don’t know what’s wrong with me, okay?”
“That’s okay, too. You’ll figure it out as you go. You don’t have to change yourself for your home anymore, Reg. We’ll change for you. We just want you to be comfortable.”
Something about the way he said this softened Regulus. By then, he had finished his cigarette. He dropped it and ground it under his shoe. When he looked back to James, soft hazel eyes met his, and he could have melted.
Maybe Regulus didn’t need to go back to Grimmauld Place for the summer.

Yule Ball (Young!Remus lupin x reader)
request: not really a request acutally, just something i wrote at litteramly 3am
Summary: Remus Lupin asked Y/N to the Yule Ball with the help of his friends, but his night took a sour turn when he turned to alcohol to mask his nerves, leading to a misunderstanding with Y/N.
Warning: Alcohol, a bit of angst, happy ending, marauders era

---
Hogwarts Castle was alive with anticipation as the Yule Ball approached. Snowflakes danced outside the tall, arched windows, blanketing the grounds in pristine white. Inside, students buzzed with excitement, discussing dresses, dates, and the music that would soon fill the Great Hall. Remus Lupin, however, found himself lost in thought, his gaze drifting to a girl across the room.
“Oi, Moony!” Sirius’s voice broke through his reverie. “Stop daydreaming and join us! We’ve got a plan!”
Remus blinked, pulled from his thoughts of Y/N—the girl who had captivated his attention for months. He turned to see Sirius, James, and Peter huddled together, their faces alight with mischief. “What plan?” he asked hesitantly, a knot of anxiety tightening in his stomach.
“Simple! You need to ask her to the Ball!” James exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. “We’ll help you out.”
Remus’s heart raced at the thought. “What if she says no?” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
“Don’t be a prat,” Sirius chided, slapping him on the back. “You won’t know until you try. Besides, you’ve got us.”
With a deep breath, Remus nodded. “Alright. I’ll do it.”
“Good! We’ll be right here, cheering you on,” Peter piped up, a nervous grin spreading across his face.
The four of them made their way to the common room, where Y/N sat, her laughter ringing out as she chatted with her friends. Remus’s palms grew sweaty, and his heart pounded in his chest.
“Just go for it!” James whispered, nudging him forward.
With a final nod of encouragement from his friends, Remus approached Y/N, trying to ignore the fluttering in his stomach. “Um, hey, Y/N?”
She looked up, her smile brightening the dimly lit room. “Hey, Remus! What’s up?”
“Would you, um, would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?” he blurted, his cheeks flushing.
For a moment, time seemed to stretch. Y/N’s eyes widened, and then she broke into a grin. “I’d love to!”
Relief washed over him, followed by a wave of excitement. “Great! I mean, awesome!”
As the evening of the Ball approached, Remus’s excitement began to wane, replaced by nerves. His friends had concocted a plan to help him “relax” before the big night.
“Just one drink, Moony,” Sirius insisted, pouring a golden liquid into a glass. “It’ll loosen you up. You can’t go in all shy and awkward.”
“Yeah, it’s just a little fun,” Peter added, his eyes hopeful.
Remus hesitated, glancing at the glass. “I don’t know, guys. I’m not sure…”
“Just trust us. We want you to have a good time,” James urged, nudging the glass closer.
With a resigned sigh, Remus took the glass and downed it in one gulp. The warmth spread through him, igniting an unexpected confidence. “Okay, maybe just one more.”
Hours later, the Great Hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, sparkling with twinkling lights and shimmering decorations. Remus entered with his friends, feeling a bit unsteady but exhilarated. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on Y/N, who looked breathtaking in a deep blue gown that flowed around her like liquid silk.
“Hey, Y/N!” he called out, striding over with an exaggerated swagger that felt foreign to him.
“Remus!” she greeted, her face lighting up. “You look… different.”
“Different good, I hope?” he shot back, grinning widely.
“Definitely,” she laughed, though her eyes narrowed slightly, as if sensing something was off.
The music began to play, and Remus took her hand, leading her to the dance floor. As they began to sway together, he felt a rush of energy coursing through him, emboldened by the alcohol. He spun her around, his laughter echoing around them.
“Wow, you’re really getting into it,” Y/N said, her smile bright but her expression shifting to confusion.
“Yeah, just letting loose!” he said with a wink, channeling his inner Sirius.
But as the night wore on, Remus’s bravado started to falter. He could feel Y/N’s energy diminish, her laughter softening, as if she were withdrawing.
“Remus…” she began, her brow furrowing slightly. “Are you alright? You seem a bit… off.”
“I’m great!” he exclaimed, perhaps a little too loudly. “Just having a blast!”
She raised an eyebrow, her expression shifting from amusement to concern. “Are you sure? You smell like—”
“Like what?” he interrupted, laughing too hard to be convincing.
“Like alcohol,” she finished, her tone now serious.
His laughter faded, replaced by a creeping sense of dread. “Oh, uh… maybe just a bit?” He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to regain his composure.
Y/N’s smile faltered, and in that moment, Remus saw the truth in her eyes: she was disappointed. “You didn’t drink to get through the night, did you?”
“No! I mean, yes, but…” He struggled for words, the reality of the situation crashing down on him. “I just wanted to enjoy the night, Y/N. I thought it’d help.”
Her expression hardened, and she took a step back. “I thought you wanted to be here with me, not as someone else.”
Remus felt a pang of regret, realizing how his friends’ well-meaning intentions had backfired. “I do want to be here with you! I just… I didn’t want to mess up.”
“Then why not just be yourself?” she asked, her voice softening but still laced with disappointment.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his heart racing. “I thought if I was more confident—”
“More like Sirius?” she interjected, crossing her arms. “That’s not you, Remus.”
He opened his mouth to respond, but the words caught in his throat. She was right; he’d let the alcohol transform him into someone he wasn’t. “Can we just—”
“I think I need to go,” she interrupted, her voice steady yet strained.
“Y/N, wait—” he called after her, but she was already weaving through the crowd, her figure disappearing into the throng of students.
Frustration bubbled inside him as he turned to find his friends, who were still reveling in the dance. “What were you thinking?” he shouted, his voice rising above the music.
“Hey, Moony! You were fantastic!” Sirius cheered, oblivious to the storm brewing in his friend’s heart.
“Fantastic? I just ruined everything!” Remus snapped, his fists clenching at his sides. “She thinks I used alcohol to get through the night!”
“Wait, you did?” James asked, genuine confusion in his eyes. “I thought you were just having fun.”
“Fun? I was trying to impress her, not be a drunken fool!” Remus shot back, pushing through the crowd toward the exit.
“Moony, wait! We were just trying to help!” Peter called after him, but Remus didn’t stop. He stormed back to the Gryffindor common room, his emotions swirling like the snow outside.
Inside the cozy space, he paced, anger and regret twisting in his gut. How could he have let himself be swayed by his friends? The night he had looked forward to for weeks had turned into a disaster.
The door creaked open, and a moment later, Y/N stepped inside, her eyes searching the room. Relief and dread washed over him simultaneously.
“Y/N…” he began, but she held up a hand to stop him.
“I just wanted to say… I’m sorry for leaving like that. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I just—” She took a breath, her voice steadying. “I wanted to enjoy the night with you, not this… version of you.”
“I know,” he admitted, feeling the weight of her disappointment. “I messed up. I thought maybe if I was more confident, I could be someone you’d like.”
Y/N stepped closer, her expression softening. “I like you, Remus. But I like the real you, not this… flirty facade.”
“I’m sorry,” he repeated, his voice earnest. “I promise, I’ll be myself next time.”
She smiled, the tension in her shoulders easing. “Next time?”
“Definitely. If you’ll still have me,” he said, hope creeping into his voice.
“Of course,” she said, her smile widening. “But just be you, alright?”
“Deal,” he replied, relief flooding through him.
As they stood together in the warm glow of the common room, Remus felt the connection between them grow stronger. The Yule Ball hadn’t gone as planned, but it had led him to something better: a chance to truly be himself with her.
Outside, the snow continued to fall, blanketing the ground in silence, as if in agreement with the promise of a new beginning.

Hiyaa! <33 i was wondering if you could do an actor!reader x poly!maraduers. Just fascinated by the film, they were the main character in, always complimenting how good they are, lots of kisses and praising, and ofc lots of fluff
Poly!Marauders x Actress!Reader
a/n: i hope this kinda meets what you were looking for-it kinda has a spicy ending but it's not smut!
“Are you sure I look okay?”
You straighten out Sirius’ tie and brush lint of his shoulders. “You look fine Siri. It’s just a red carpet, it won’t even be that long.”
He huffs and turns away from you to face Remus, who was tying James’ tie for him.
“Just a red carpet she says,” Sirius laments. “Rem, do I look okay?”
You and Remus sigh in unison. He doesn’t look up from where he’s adjusting James’ tie, but James looks over at Sirius with an arched brow.
“If Y/N said you look fine, I’m sure you look fantastic love.” Remus said, giving James’ chest a pat when he finished with the tie.
Sirius rolled his eyes and started to pace around the apartment.
James shrugged his suit jacket on. “Babe, you look great. It’ll be alright.”
He raised his hands in defense. “Alright, alright! If you all insist.”
You peaked out the window, seeing headlights shine through. “Limo’s here.”
You all piled into the limo, Remus chastising James to be careful of your dress as you stepped in. Sirius’ leg bounced up and down, and you rested your hand on it. He looked at you, and if it weren’t for his bouncing leg, most wouldn’t be able to guess how worried Sirius truly was.
“It’s gonna be a lot of flashing lights,” You warned. “But it’s quick. We walk, we stop for pictures, then we go inside. No interviews today. Then we just sit, relax, and watch the movie. There might be an after party afterwards, but we don’t have to go if you aren’t feeling up to it Siri.”
Sirius nodded, deep in thought. “I’ll be okay. Just nervous to be introduced to your world, is all.”
You gave him a small smile. “Well if it’s any consolation, you look amazing.”
“And you two,” You added. “My handsome boys.”
Before they could respond you felt the limo come to a halt, and the driver announced to the four of you that you had arrived.
You looked at Sirius. “Just hold my hand–I’ll guide you through it.”
Sirius nodded, not exactly making eye contact.
Your faces were illuminated by bright lights as you exited the limo, and you smiled brightly at the cameras. Your last name was called out loud by various photographers, and you led the boys along to stop and smile, before moving along to stop and smile again, and again, and again.
You gave Sirius’ hand squeezes as you walked through, and as you entered the theater you whispered to him. “You did great, handsome.”
He smiled at you, and an usher led you along to where the four of you would be sat.
“Shouldn’t you be the nervous one?” Sirius questioned, going into the aisle first so you could sit in between him and James.
“Me?” You asked. “Oh, I’m nervous as anything.”
“You don’t look it.” James said, amused.
Remus smiled and shook his head as he reached across to have his arm around James’ shoulder. “Are you lads forgetting? She’s an actress.”
James pursed his lips and nodded, cheeks turning a shade of pink in embarrassment.
You patted his leg in comfort, and the lights began to dim.
“Movie’s about to start.” You whispered.
Sirius reached for your hand. “You’re going to be great.”
You took pride in your work on the screen, you really did. You loved your career as an actress and you were excited to bring your boys to see the latest project you were starring in. It was practically a thrill for you, because you knew how much your boys wanted to see your work. This movie, however, was one of the first times you felt confident and passionate enough to show it off–even without having seen the finished project.
As the movie came to a close you hesitated to look at your boyfriends, but it was kind of difficult as many in the audience were standing and turning to look at you.
You were nearly in shock at the response, and it was James who whispered in your ear.
“I think you’re supposed to stand up, darling.”
Immediately you rose to your feet, tears in your eyes as you waved and thanked the many people who were applauding you. You gestured to your costar, not too far down the row from you, who gave you a large smile and kept applauding–for you.
The rush of the applause and getting back into the limo home was a blur, and you looked at your boyfriends with wide eyes.
“So?” You asked.
Sirius laughed audibly. “So? So!!? You’re amazing, dollface!”
Remus and James spoke over each other next, a mix of astonishment and pride. Remus leaned over from where he was sitting in the limo and began to shower your face in kisses, and in between proclaiming:
“I”
Kiss.
“Am.”
Another kiss.
“So.”
Smooch.
“Proud.”
Kiss again.
“Of.”
A kiss on your forehead.
“You.”
He leaned in for a more passionate kiss, and you giggled at the lipstick that was smeared across his own lips.
You giggled at it, and he only smiled in response.
“Hey,” James whined. “You’re not the only one that gets to give her kisses. ‘S’not fair.”
“Fine then,” Remus leaned back, and James nearly leaped at the opportunity to throw himself on you.
He slowly kissed your neck, one hand behind your head as the other moved its way around your body. He eventually brought his lips to yours, eliciting a few moans from you as Sirius squeezed himself next to you to give your neck open mouth kisses. Remus watched with a satisfied smirk, wiping the lipstick off his face with the back of his hand.
As you broke from the kiss with James, you looked at him with big eyes.
“What’s this for?” You whispered to him.
He smiled, and you could feel his hand go under your dress. “Consider it a job well done.”

a certain fondness.
to admit your feelings is scary, but to never have known is scarier. requested! -> hey! i seen your post asking for marauders requests so I was wondering if you’d write a remus x reader? where they’ve been pining after eachother for so long and it’s so obvious to everyone but them. maybe it ends in a nervous love confession? thank youuu!!! requested by! -> @pinkdaiisies
a/n -> yall im on chapter 108 of atyd and im in the trenches currently lol also, i will always use the og fancast
pairing -> remus lupin x f!reader
he was so pretty that it almost wasn't fair.
pretty eyes. pretty smile. pretty hair. pretty scars. you knew he thought they made him a monster, but you thought they made him look beautiful.
though, you could never tell him that.
you've wanted to, multiple times. been talked up by the girls and psyched yourself up, everything, but the second he'd smile at you with that soft, shy smile, all that courage would disappear within seconds and you'd be left a fumbling fool.
and so, like a cruel torture, you were left a pining fool – always thinking about the what if's and the maybes without ever taking the steps to make them reality. you'd dream of a day you'd be brave enough, or worse, dream of a day that maybe he'd confess himself.
that all along, he'd liked you too.
it never happened.
-
"seriously, moony, you should just tell her."
remus rolls his eyes from behind the book he'd been reading – peacefully a few seconds ago – before lowering it to send james a rather nonplussed expression. "not all of us can just pour our hearts out whenever we want, prongs."
james just rolls his eyes. "and why not?" he counters, quirking a challenging brow. "i have no problem."
"and how well is that working out for you?"
james lips part in disbelief as remus smirks, it growing when he hears sirius let out a loud chuckle and peter try to quietly mask his own chuckle. it wasn't often the boys teased james for his crush on lily anymore, especially since it'd been made clear no amount of it would change his rather embarrassing attempts but, when someone did crack a joke, it never failed to gain the intended laugh.
"well," james huffs, crossing his arms over his chest as he leans back against the couch. "at least i'm not too afraid to admit my feelings, like a certain moony over here."
remus shakes his head; "i'm not afraid."
"you definitely are," sirius pops up then, sending remus a smirk. "even wormtail has more bravery then you, remus."
peter flushes at that, batting away sirius' hand from it's mocking pat on his back. "so funny."
sirius just sticks his tongue out at peter, being the childish prat he normally is, as james speaks up again. "seriously though, moony. i'm confident y/n feels the same."
flushing, remus slams his book shut – he clearly wasn't going to be able to read it in peace anymore. "you do not know that," remus corrects, "what if she doesn't and i embarrass myself?"
"like prongs?" sirius grins.
james just sends him the finger. "it honestly isn't that bad."
remus sighs; "for you maybe. besides, why would she want to go out with someone like me?"
remus' meaning is clear.
"remus," james sighs, pitingly. "y/n knows right?" remus nods. "and she doesn't care. none of us do. it isn't as bad as you think it is."
remus moves to respond, but before he can, a voice cuts in;
"what's not that bad?"
all four eyes fall on the four girls as they make their way into the common room. it's lily who asks the question, not so subtly moving towards james, sitting on the arm of his chair, who meets her eyes and tries not to flush immediately – to be fair, lily isn't that much better.
mary and marlene send smiles of their own and easily flank themselves on the couch next sirius, peter now on the ground in front of them.
you walk in behind them, eyes falling on remus' first as you smile.
it's then, remus realizes, that all the open spots on the little nook the marauders had settled themselves in are now taken. he notices, just out of the corner of his eye, you move to take a seat on the ground and his body reacts before he can stop himself.
"here," he rushes, "take my seat."
you turn to him in surprise, a soft flush covering your cheeks as your eyes flicker from the now open seat to remus. "oh, remus you don't–"
"i insist," he pushes, gently, nodding at you with a small, nervous smile.
the rest of the marauders and the girls all send each other knowing glances, shaking their heads at their friends obliviousness.
smiling brightly, you move towards the couch; "thank you, remus."
"o-of course."
with nowhere left, remus settles himself on the ground, in front of you. he tries to ignore the flutter of his heart at having you so close or the way he can't get the soft smile you'd sent him out of your head.
"so," you prompt after a moment when no one else will speak. "what's not so bad?"
remus realizes they'd never answered lily's question. instantly, he sends a look to james, pleading with him not to say anything – especially with you right there.
"sorry, y/n/n," sirius calls out instead of james when the quidditch captain simply stares on in panic. "it's a marauder secret." he offers, grinning over at you and sending remus a wink who quickly bows his head.
you roll your eyes at that, but smile nonetheless. "nothing new then," you laugh, "just let me know beforehand if you're planning on blowing something up or making a mess of something. last time you guys did a prank, i got hit in the crossfire."
all the boys wince at that.
"sorry, y/n," james cringes.
"we promise we'll let you know," peter assures, sending you a smile.
you return it with a smile of your own and a laugh.
"so," sirius speaks up, "what are you ladies doing here? normally you lot of are gossiping or something."
mary rolls her eyes; "we do not gossip."
sirius just quirks a brow at her.
marlene is quick to jump to her defence; "at least we don't land ourselves in detention weekly."
"touche," sirius laughs.
"actually," lily jumps in, leaning forward on the armrest of james' chair. "y/n needed remus for something, didn't you?"
remus watches as you still as all eyes fall on you. "o-oh," you mumble, meeting remus' eyes nervously. "yeah."
remus turns to you; "is everything okay?"
"oh, yes," you reassure with a shake of your head at the concern in his eyes. "i had a question about something for charms. if you don't mind?"
remus is once again interrupted before he can answer;
"moony was actually just headed to the library," james cuts in with a grin. "you two can head there and he can help you."
remus sends james a glare, shaking his head.
you're a little confused by james' suggestion, but you're not all that bothered as you shrug, and turn to remus. there's a warmth to your cheeks that is subtly there, but otherwise, you smile as normal. "if remus doesn't mind?"
"o-of course not!" remus rushes, perhaps a bit quckly if the surprise in your eyes is anything to go by. he rushes to correct himself. "i mean... i don't mind at all."
-
thirty minutes later and the two of you are alone in the library.
there was only a few other students there so luckily the both of you were able to find a table to yourselves easily. you'd asked him your question about charms and remus had been helpful, like you'd expected.
but now, as the two of you sat there, it was clear neither of you knew what to say.
"s-sorry about them," remus speaks up, voice soft, a moment after lasting silence. "the guys i mean. they-well..."
you frown as remus trails off, turning to him in concern; "remus?"
"i didn't actually have to go to the library." is all he answers with.
your eyes widen. "oh!" you squeak, embarrassed. "i... i'm so sorry! i didn't mean to pull you away from your friends! we totally could've done this–"
"no, no," remus rushes out, shaking his head. "no, that's not what i meant."
you frown, puzzled. remus was being awfully criptic and you didn't really understand why. not to mention, his cheeks were bright red and he was desperately avoiding your gaze which was making you increasingly nervous.
had you done something to upset him?
as far as you knew, there was no full moon approaching. so it couldn't be that. since you'd found out last year, you'd been keeping track of when full moons were happening so you could be there for remus in anyway you can. which, admittedly, wasn't much unfortunately, but you at least liked to know.
reaching forward, you set your hand on his arm, not noticing the way he tenses at your touch.
"remus?" you push gently.
his eyes clench shut and then; "i like you!"
he says it so fast and so suddenly, you don't even recognize what he's said. not at first, anyways. you pause, blinking, as his own eyes slowly flicker open to meet yours nervously.
then, softly, you ask; "you like me?"
he cringes. "yes," he nods, beet red. "i h-have for a while. the boys have been trying to get me to confess for a while, which is why they'd offered us to go the library. so... so we could be alone."
you blink; "oh."
remus takes that the wrong way. "i understand if you don't feel the same!" he rushes, shaking his head at you. "nothing has to change. and i mean... i'd understand if you had... concerns about being with me, so–"
you promptly cut him off by pressing your lips against his own.
the kiss is messy and clumsy, neither of you having any experience. you also pull away quicker than you'd like, but despite remus' confession, you're still nervous so it's instinct as your body pulls away.
meeting remus' eyes, your breathless; "i like you too," you whisper. "and i have no concerns about being with you. at all."
remus' eyes widen. "even... with my monthly problem?"
"even with," you say with no hesitation or doubt. "you know i don't care or see you differently. i... i just, well, like you."
remus smiles at that, finally eased as he laughs lightly. "i like you too."
biting your lip, you grin; "can i kiss you again?"
"please."
-
"you think they're snogging each other?"
"hopefully." lily huffs, "all y/n does is pine after remus."
"same with remus," sirius laughs. "he's madly in love."
marlene laughs; "if they aren't we're going to have to try different methods."
"more forward," mary nods.
james snorts; "nah, they're definitely snogging."
"what makes you so sure?" peter asks, confused.
"look," james nods to his right.
all eyes follow his gesture, five pairs of eyes widening at the sight of you and remus walking into the common room, hand in hand.
"finally!"

Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is a Florist AU!
(342 words.)
Remus is just putting together a new bouquet when he hears the familiar bell, alerting him to a new customer. Honestly, he's grateful as hell; it's been a boring day. The moment he lifts his head, his face brightens. His favourite customer.
"Hey, Remus! Just picking up a bouquet I ordered," Sirius says with a familiar, charming smile that definitely doesn't make Remus weak at the knees. He nods and moves back behind the counter. Sirius rests both of his elbows against the countertop as Remus grabs the bouquet of carnations and lilies. They're Remus' favourites, he always loves arranging them.
He sets it down in front of Sirius, before pulling out a small card and a pen.
"Did you want a message on it?"
"Oh, yeah, definitely. Could you put 'Will you go on a date with me?'" Sirius asks. Remus can't help but feel a small spike of disappointment at that. It's stupid, but he's really enjoyed getting to know Sirius since he first walked into Remus' shop, covered in leather, holding a bike helmet and seeming completely and utterly out of place.
Still, he dutifully writes it out.
"Okay, got it... and a name?"
"Yeah, write down 'Remus Lupin', please." Remus' head snaps up, stunned.
"Sorry?" He blurts out before he can help himself, and Sirius just offers him a nervous smile. "Did you just- did you really- you like me?" He settles on, watching the way Sirius' face flushes.
"Remus, I come in here at least three times a week. My friends are starting to think I'm way too affectionate, I just keep dishing out flowers. I come here to see you! I thought you'd caught on at this point. I mean, fuck, I asked you what your favourite flowers are last week!"
"No, I- I definitely didn't catch on," Remus answers breathlessly, a laugh making its way out. That seems to instill some confidence in Sirius, who grins and pushes the bouquet back towards Remus.
"So, Remus? D'you fancy going out sometime?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I'd like that."
