It's so weird to me that there are people who say Boromir doesn't care, because to me it feels like caring about others is the core of his entire character?
Like the Ring is able to tempt him so easily, not because he wants power for himself, but because he wants to protect his people.
He spends all of Fellowship watching out for Merry and Pippin, which eventually leads to him literally dying to protect them — and while he's laying on the forest floor dying the first thing he cares about is the fact that they've been taken.
You can see him trying to comfort Gimli in Moria, and after Gandalf's fall. Faramir's flashback in Two Towers shows Boromir looking out for him and standing up to their father.
This man cares so much that it literally leads to his downfall.
#boromir#the lord of the rings#lord of the rings#lotr#mari speaks#this is movie based obviously#i still haven't read the books but i intend to!!#and not to mention his clear mental health struggles due to the pressure of his position#i just love boromir so so so much okay

watching adaptations of books can be a very tense experience because even if they did it well, they are bound to change things because of the nature of adaptations and you're not always going to agree with what they did. the number of times I've gone "from a storytelling standpoint, I can completely understand why they changed it, I'm just not sure I agree with the changes" is crazy
#lotr#hobbit#ohh hobbit movies#got me into the hobbit and I enjoy the book more now#like. i get *why* they changed stuff.#I totally do get it. and some changes are honestly not bad#but there's also just. so much character lost that they tried to fill up in other ways that it drives me crazy#particularly bilbo because bilbo is blorbo from my adventure#they made him such a wet nervous blanket but this man is insane and I love him for that#they could have made new conflict around that but they didn't for some reason#they decided to make thorin an asshole instead#like don't get me wrong it's not *entirely* bad or anything but I really enjoy that book thorin is obviously very kingly#I honestly understand the addition of Azog the most especially if they *had* to make 3 movies#but bro the spacing of the story between these 3 movies is so bad#okay shutting up now#in lotr it's mostly frodo and boromir's characters I have an issue with so far#will update if more#cap talks

hello there!! i've been reading your works for a while and they're adorable, i love them so much ;A;
it's actually my birthday today! if it's not too much trouble, could you write the Fellowship (plus Arwen and Eowyn if you'd like <3) and how each of them would spend reader's birthday with them?
if not, then that's okay! hope you have a great day and once again i love your writing :D
Happy belated birthday anon! This is a cute idea 😄
REQUESTS ARE STILL CLOSED! This is a very old request I’m just getting around to posting.
Warnings: a bit suggestive at times
How LoTR Characters Spend Your Birthday With You
Aragorn
He is not exactly the biggest party person, so unless you are your celebration will be smaller, more intimate. You’ll be woken with the gentlest kiss and a whispered blessing. Whatever you command, Aragorn teases, he is yours…. Beyond that, he is his typical attentive self, cooking your favorite meal for you and laying it out beautifully as he can. Candles, flowers, you name it and he has found it. All day the words pass his lips that the world is all the richer for your entry into it, that he considers you a blessing every day of his life. So much so, in fact, he’ll even tolerate you smashing some cake on him if you feel a bit giddy that night! Shaking his head, he just smiles and laughs it off. It is your birthday, after all, and he is plenty used to the old antics of his friends!
Legolas
You expect a surprise, ironically, knowing Legolas’s air of teasing mystery, and sure enough he whisks you away nearly as soon as he can. Any questioning fails utterly, but at least you get to see Legolas’s dark eyes glitter with mischief as he tells you you’ll see. In the end you’re taken to a little paradise all your own, a treetop canopy with a scenic view. “And of course you have your cake,” he teases, remembering how important it was to you. You’re still in awe of the view, jaw slack at the horizon of endless green blending into the blue sky with its sparse puffs of cloud. It’s amazing, utterly so and you tell him, but the woodland prince insists that the most amazing part of this all is you. Your birth, your entry into the world those years ago, means more to him than he can ever truly convey.
Boromir
Such ambition! Boromir asks you to describe your dream day and vows to give it to you. Taking a boat ride? He’ll find a way. Having a joust? He would be honored to be your partner. A party with your friends? Simply give him the notice and he will invite them all to a grand event! He understands that cake is traditional so he commissions the best of his father’s bakers for yours. All the while of the merriment Boromir’s arm is slung about your waist, his eyes and grin loving as they fix firmly upon you. You may have to restrain him, for he’ll want to hoist your arm up and call out your praises in front of everybody! He definitely tries to be understanding if these ideas make you anxious, however, toning down the party in his mind to a candlelit dinner for two. Hm, yes, perhaps some romance would be a good way to spend your birthday after all….
Gimli
Pretends he forgot. His jaw drops, lips widening into an o shape as he asks oh, was that today? Today of all days? …Followed immediately by mischievous he-he-hes of laughter as he reaches into some pocket or another and pulls out a box. “I jest, of course? You think I would forget the most important of days, the birth of my fairest One? Not in the slightest! Go on, open it up!” Inside is none other than a piece of your favorite type of jewelry, clearly handmade and beautifully custom crafted. Gimli made it himself of course, not a single other dwarf laying a hand on it. “Just like you,” he jokes as you embrace and pull his lips into yours. As far as any other celebration of course he wants to scream it from the hills and drink and dance the night away with you, but if you want no fanfare Gimli will simply walk with you anywhere you go, still telling everyone it’s your birthday, before taking you home for a more private celebration. Hopefully still some drinks and dancing, even if it’s just you two. And something else? Well, he would give you everything you want on your special day, just ask and he is yours…
Frodo
You’ll awake to a pair of the most loving blue eyes you’ve ever seen upon you. Soon as he knows you’ve risen, Frodo reaches over to caress your face, a smile creeping onto his lips before he kisses your forehead. “Good morning, my love. How would you like to spend your day?” Anything you request within reason will be yours. The weather cooperates, luckily, so if you wish to take a walk on the edges of the Shire or take to the market opportunity is availed to you. Frodo will organize a party if you wish it, inviting only your closest friends and family and hoping he’ll be your only dance partner for the evening! Encourages you to be the one to cut your cake, nodding eagerly towards it with a big smile. He spent ages on your gift, a hand-illustrated and bound volume of your favorite story he made with his uncle Bilbo.
Sam
Spends a whole day making your cake himself. It has to be perfect, your favorite flavor and lots of edible flowers to make it pretty! Sam is very sweet with you, absolutely doting on you all day and insisting you don’t lift a finger. Even going so far as to romantically carry you over thresholds if he can. The most loving eyes fall onto you as he asks what you want to do, flushing if you make any more scandalous suggestions and agreeing eagerly, readying himself to pull off the bed and onto your next adventure. It’s the end of the night, naturally, when he insists on cutting you a big slice of your cake and showering you with gifts ranging from flowers to a new one of your favorite comfort items to a special piece of craftsmanship from his elven friends! Party or no, Sam will share a lantern-lit dance with you that night and will be telling you how much he loves you and is grateful you were born all day!
Merry
The type to suggest celebrating on your birthday, if you catch his drift. Loves your eager reaction or if you smack him and tease back, both is good. Morning or evening, he won’t be picky! But in all seriousness, this calls for a celebration and by the stars you are getting one! Merry will have the whole of the Green Dragon singing your praises and wishing you well that night, not to mention being ready with a cake and a hearty meal! All day he’s walking around with the proudest smile and a hand around your waist. His gift to you is the perfect mix of pretty and practical, a gorgeously embroidered coat with bejeweled buttons that had to have cost a lot, but he assures you it’s worth it with a kiss to your forehead and another happy birthday.
Pippin
Writes it down so he doesn’t forget what day it is, then sets himself to work planning you a party! If you don’t like large events then instead of a massive Shire celebration he’ll throw something in your yard or the Tooks will rent out the Green Dragon for a night with all your friends. During the day, though? Pippin refuses to share you, no sir. All his attention is on you from the moment he surprises you with a big breakfast to when he sets aside the dishes. Even getting ready for the day he’ll pamper you, running you a bath and jumping in with you too of course! A picnic lunch in a field of waving wildflowers, lots of shared kisses beneath the sun, and a bouquet hand-picked just for you await! Tells anyone who runs across you that it’s his beloved’s birthday, you know. Your favorite gift this year is a scarf, one quite similar to Pippin’s but in your favorite color instead, the one you wear most. He had his mother make it for you just like the cake! Warning: Pippin will want to hand-feed you some cake and may see about smashing just a teensy bit up by your nose. If you really hate that he won’t, but if you retaliate? Well, your cake fight may turn into another bath for you two and then who knows from there…
Faramir
His brother was always the better one at this, an internal voice tells Faramir, but that makes it all the more exciting, especially because Boromir is happy to help him execute his plan! You are completely unsuspecting of the brothers’s scheme as you pry open the doors to the chamber Faramir asked you to meet him in, lops parting widely in shock at the crowd awaiting you. They all wish you a happy birthday as one, just as your family did for you in your youth. Tears fill your eyes at the sight of the gathering, but you are quickly swept into Faramir’s loving arms. He doesn’t let go of your hand for the entire night, either.
Eomer
Good luck getting out of bed that morning! Eomer will be upon you from the moment you arise, showering you with affection and ministrations of your every need and desire. He insists he can even do the cooking, which he does not usually undertake, but when you finally do arise for a meal you find quite a hearty selection awaiting you. From there Eomer takes you out for a ride, insisting you share a horse so he can hold you close and keep you blindfolded- no need to ruin the surprise so early, hm? You feel the incline before you see it, obviously, but after your mount slows Eomer lifts you up and sets you down to restore your sight. The fabric drops to reveal a flowered hill and a gorgeous view of the blue sky, both of which pale in comparison to the sight of Eomer knelt before you, telling you your birthday is a day of new beginnings. Asking then if you’ll grant him the new beginning of a married life with him?
Eowyn
Bless her soul, she makes you a cake. You can imagine how that goes. Looking at it with trepidation, you eagerly pull her to your day’s activities, saving that for the end of the night anyway. Rather, your focus is on the freedom you have to celebrate, taking a ride just to feel the wind in your hair and laugh with abandon at Eowyn’s side. Nearing your ride’s end she lays down a blanket and carries you down upon it, unpacking a meal for you to share as you watch the sunset. You will celebrate with friends and family, certainly, but this day is for you two. Laughter ensues further as you both choke on the cake, agreeing it’s no good but you assure her you love that she made it nonetheless, tackling her down upon the spread fabric with teasing, affectionate kisses. Giggling, she practically peels you off to give you your gift: a sword emblazoned with the Riddermark’s most gorgeous flowers.
Haldir
Haldir was never one to celebrate birthdays. It just never occurred to him to do anything beyond well wishes. So imagine his surprise when you began pondering what kind of cake you’ll make, if your elven neighbors would come for a party. Party? Of course, you say? Raucous celebrations were more characteristic of those in Mirkwood, but for you, Haldir realized with a smile the next time you were in his arms, he would lace up his dancing shoes. Insisting on handling the cake, he enlists Lothlórien’s finest baker, the one who crafts for Galadriel herself, to make you a gorgeous dessert that sits at your celebration’s center. He lets you teach him a dance or two and performs one you both know, letting loose and even just laughing in simple joy. Your gift is his favorite part of the evening, a mantle crafted of the strongest material that will keep you safe and looking beautiful as you always do in his eyes.
Galadriel
Oh, you are going to be pampered. The most beautiful sunlight kissing your skin as Galadriel whispers good morning, caressing your cheek and pulling you into her lips. Spending the morning exactly how she knows you like before treating you to a day of luxury. Healing massages for you both, a ride upon Lothlórien’s boats until you moor at the base of a great waterfall, the power of your love’s ring parting the waterfall as she beckons you into a wonderfully dry and decorated hollow. Therein you share a meal and each other’s company, whispered words of how much you mean to each other and all your desires shared before you are gifted a necklace bearing the great works and designs of Lórien- but most importantly engravings of Galadriel’s love for you hidden beneath the metal swirling around its white stone.
Elrond
Having a complicated family history himself, Elrond takes the task upon his own shoulders to show others compassion, comfort, and most of all senses of belonging and being loved. Of course this extends to your birthday! He wishes you well from the first and tells you what a blessing you are, how you surprise him with your strength and warm him with your smile every day. And do not doubt that you’ll be treated to the most luxurious of baths and Elrond washing and styling your hair for you. Following that is an afternoon lavished with gifts, jewelry and art and all you could ask for. That night, Elrond brings you up to the highest point in all of Rivendell to stargaze and so he can hold you and sway with you beneath the lights that looked down upon and symbolized his ancestors.
Arwen
Unless you specifically request the opposite, she’ll steal you away completely. Gone are you from the many eyes which could fall upon you, gone far off hand in hand with your beloved. Riding away to a secluded hollow where you and Arwen can be free, be yourselves. Lay in each other’s arms, weave flowers in each other’s hair, and flush joyfully and bashfully when she reaches up to feed you by hand, her own face a playful grin. Each kiss she gives you is deep, languid, intent, her hands falling to you as if to hold you there forever, but you mind not being bewitched so by her. Whispers of how grateful she is for your birth shared between your lips until they are joined again. Arwen’s gift to you is a ring, one that bears words of her own writing within its band. My love for all time.

I wish you could write a fic where.... Y/N gets injured and tries to take care of her wounds on her own but Legolas finds her and tries to take care of her but she is scared to let him see. Lots of hurt/comfort fluff??
(You don't have to but it would be so cute!)
Okay, this is actually one of my favorite tropes to write so when I saw this I got so excited lol. Hidden injury? Not wanting to ask for help? Extra fluff? Yes please <3 I hope you enjoyed this, I haven't written for Legolas in several months and don't feel like this is my best work. But I hope you enjoy, anon!
Promise
Warning: description of injury
Your back connected with the tree, the fabric of your shirt catching on pieces of bark as you slowly slid down to sit between its roots. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli were setting up camp and beginning to prepare dinner. You had made the excuse of going to find firewood and separated from the group, going much farther than was necessary before finding this old tree to hide behind.
You had been injured by the orc attack while attempting to save Boromir. In the flurry of events that followed it had been easy to hide the blood stain on your left side. You hadn't looked at it for two whole days, convincing yourself that it was just a small scratch. But after hours of hard travel with barely time for breath, you had been forced to admit that it was much worse than a scratch.
Breathing hard, you grit your teeth and lifted your shirt to reveal the dirty bandage you had wound around your waist. It was soaked through and dripping with blood.
You cursed the sight of it and the orc who had wounded you, going to dig through your bag for another bandage when the sense of someone watching stopped you cold. In one smooth movement you were on your feet with your knife at the ready, waiting for the one you sensed to appear.
"Easy, my love." Legolas stepped into the clearing. "I thought you were collecting firewood."
You lowered your knife. "I am."
Legolas's eyes narrowed as he regarded you. The impact of moving so quickly made you sway, putting a hand against the tree for support as the knife slipped from your fingers. "Go back to camp."
"You've been injured."
You shook your head. "It's nothing."
"I see blood." Legolas was by your side in an instant, taking hold of your arm as you continued to sway.
"Legolas, please," you leaned until your back was flush against the tree. "I can handle it."
Legolas's gaze was piercing. "Your reason is tainted with pain. I see it in your eyes."
You opened your mouth to object, but instead whimpered when Legolas touched your side. "Stop," you slid down to the ground once more. "Please, I must...I must handle this alone."
"You are not alone." Legolas knelt beside you. "You will never be alone. Let me help you."
"I will slow down the group, we won't save the hobbits," you began to ramble, a bloody hand reaching up to push the sweaty hair from your forehead. "I cannot, I cannot be injured now."
"Legolas?" Aragorn's deep voice rang through the forest.
"Here, Aragorn. Come quickly!" Legolas called.
"No, my love," you grabbed at his arm but it was already too late.
Aragorn appeared in moments, his dark eyes taking you in before he sank to the ground. "How long have you been injured?"
You shook your head. "It's nothing."
"Lift your shirt for me."
"I will not."
"My love, look at me," Legolas reached out and cradled the side of your face, guiding your eyes to his. "You do not have to hide this from me. Aragorn has herbs that will heal the wound, and we will not leave you before you are healed."
Tears filled your eyes. You reached up, fingers encircling his wrist. "Promise?" You whispered.
Legolas gave a solemn nod. "I promise."
Something inside you snapped. The fear and anxiety of being discovered dissolved, allowing the true weight of pain to show on your face. Already weak, you grew dizzy and slumped back against the tree.
Legolas raised your shirt and ripped off your haphazard bandage. Blood flowed freely from your wound. Aragorn began to work, muttering soft words in elvish to Legolas as he applied pressure to stop the bleeding. You screamed and tried to thrash, but Legolas held you still while Aragorn whispered his apologies.
"Easy, my star. Easy," Legolas held your hand and wiped the sweat and tears from your face. "I have you now. I'll take care of you."
And you believed him.

Guys. Guys, we seriously need to talk about kidnap fam and all the arguments surrounding it.
Because the Silm fandom is easily the most peaceful fandom I've ever seen by far, and I love it, it's just so much easier when you don't constantly have to deal with fans bashing heads over their different takes. (To clarify, people do have different takes in this fandom, which is good and exactly how fandom is supposed to be, and sometimes heads do get bashed, which isn't great, but still happens far less than in any other fandom I've ever seen.)
Some people love Morgoth, and some people love the Valar, but they don't argue over it, instead they solve the problem by engaging in deep philosophical discussions or just in so much smut. And that's great. I'm not saying you shouldn't have discussions. It's such a big part of fandom to exchange different point of views, and sometimes people change their minds, and other times you agree to disagree.
And I think we all know that of all the different corners of the fandom, the kidnap fam corner is probably disagreeing the most, and that's alright! You can defend the characters you love, you can voice your own opinion, you can disagree on other people's takes, but please, PLEASE stop insulting the fans.
This isn't everyone, there are so many incredibly kind people in that corner who are always peaceful, but it's also the only corner where I've seen people using opinions on characters as a judge for the fans that have those options.
"People who hate Elwing are so stupid", "People who love Elwing are toxic" Just stop, okay?! Just stop.
Hating a fictional character is not morally wrong. They are fictional, you can't hurt their feelings, they don't care if you hate them or love them or ignore them. Hating real people is wrong. You can hate Maedhros, and you can hate Elwing, you can even hate Elrond (no, seriously, don't hate Elrond, or I will come for you).
Your opinion on a character doesn't have to be morally correct. Even if Elwing was a terrible monster who abused her kids, it still wouldn't be somehow toxic to love her. Why would you even think that? And even if Elwing was a complete saint, it still wouldn't be stupid to hate her. Your opinion on a character doesn't have to be rational. (Example: I dislike Arwen. I know there is absolutely no rational explanation, she's a perfectly written character, she's a strong woman, she's the perfect woman for Aragorn. If she were a real person I would have to get over my dislike for her, but since she's fictional I can keep disliking her, even if I can't explain it. Even if she's a great person this isn't somehow wrong or toxic)
This post isn't about my personal opinion on Elwing, or on how much Maedhros was involved in raising the boys, or whether they called Maglor "Atar". This post also isn't saying that you should stop defending your favorite characters or headcanons, or that you should stop criticising characters you dislike. I'm not telling you to stop saying your own opinion, or to make your post and fanfictions neutral so that no one is confronted with a take they don't like. Please don't do that! You can continue making 10 000 word long posts supporting your opinion, in fact, you should do that, because if it weren't for those posts I would still have all those boring, one-sided opinions that made eleven year old me hate Boromir. It's good to sometimes be confronted with something you don't agree with.
This post is about fans insulting other fans because they don't agree with them. This is about fans making opinions on fictional characters look morally wrong, and therefore make the people behind those opinions look like bad people.
Again, this is a minority of the fans. Most people in this corner of the fandom are great and civil and deserve all the love in the world. But I'm just so tired of all the arguments, I don't even care who's right anymore, I just want us all to get along. Fandom should be about having fun, about enjoying things you love, not about bashing heads with people who disagree with you. Cause you won't get very far in real life if you can't deal with different opinions.

Hello person- I must say I love reading your lil fanfics always keeps me busy when It's in the middle of the night and I can't sleep lmao.
If I may, if you are still accepting requests- A Legolas x reader, where the reader isn't aware of a custom that elves have about braiding their hair and basically just accidentally confesses to him when they get bored one day and just start braiding his hair and only finds out when the Fellowship congratulates them for confessing or something along those lines hehehe
Legolas x reader
words: 1930
google docs pages: 3
warnings: none? fluff :D
opening: One day while you’re bored, you begin to braid Legolas’ hair, unaware of its meaning to the elves. It’s only later, when you find out the message behind it.
AN// Thank you so much for this request, love the idea! (this also gives me a reason to not write the other ideas I've been putting off xd) idk if this is a little ooc, but I hope it’s okay^^ It’s also lovely to hear that you enjoy my work!^^ Reader can be any gender !
“A time for congratulations?”
It hadn’t been long since you had joined the fellowship from Rivendell, like most of the others had too. The only one you knew better than the others was Legolas. Him you had met more than a few times in the past, mostly as an accident, but you did genuinely enjoy his company. You’d never admit it to anyone in the group, but you were happy that he had been the one from Mirkwood to join. You heard it had been his father who had suggested befriending Aragorn to him, and it was when Legolas had begun to look for Aragorn that he had met you. Aragorn you had only met a few times, and back then only knew him as “strider” like most. The others you had only met when the Fellowship had been formed, but all of them had seemed okay.
Now, trailing behind Legolas, you examined your surroundings silently. Old trees with roots going all across the forest blocked the view on your right and on the left only a few trees were growing, enjoying the sun they were able to get. The trees on the left casted dark shadows on the almost non existent road you were walking on. Gandalf had seemed to be very certain that there was a trail going here, but you weren’t so sure. But since no one else had doubted him, you had decided to just follow along. At least you weren’t going to get lost alone.
As your gaze moved from left to right, amazed by the sturdy old trees, being able to stand for such a long time, you noticed Legolas turning to look at you for a moment. It was only for a split second, but it made you humm to yourself. Perhaps he was happy to see you too. It was rarely that you could spend more time with him, mostly just short bump ins every now and then. He was a prince, and probably had a lot to do.
The group seemed to have noticed the darkened shadows of the trees, and decided to set camp for the night. The sun seemed to be setting, making the casted shadows even darker before the sky would begin to follow along. Spreading the darkness of the upcoming night all over.
You had agreed to take the first watch shift of the night before anyone could steal it from you. You’d rather stay up late and go to sleep than wake up in the middle of the night to take your turn. Boromir and Gimi seemed to have collected some bigger pieces of wood and some sticks that Aragorn had been able to set on fire to create a campfire. Legolas, you and the hobbits helped to bring some rocks and logs around the fire so everyone could sit. Sam had requested if he could make something to eat, and surprisingly enough no one had disagreed. The start of the night seemed to be going smoothly.
As Sam had begun to cook some kind of a soup or a stew, everyone else had spread around the fire. Some were fixing up their weapons and others just talking. You swore you had seen Merry and Pippin bothering Boromir too. You on the other hand had found a spot close to the fire. Most of the ‘seats’ had been taken, but that just allowed you to sit closer to the warming flames of the campfire. Legolas had seated himself near you. You could hear him lowering his bow and the quiver against the log he was sitting on. Other than that and the quiet talking, the only noise you could hear was the mixing of the soup Sam was making. Sometimes the ladle would hit the edges of the saucepan, causing a small noise to break the silent gaps.The moon was only a half, but since there weren't a lot of clouds in the sky, it was able to shine its light all over the forest. At times it felt like time had stopped after the sun had started to go down, and was still shining some light over the fellowship. It was only the cold night air that let you know it indeed was almost time to go and rest.
You shivered under your clothes, pulling the cloak closer to you, making sure it was properly over your shoulders. Something rustled behind you, and soon another cape was placed over you. A small ‘huh?’ left your mouth as you turned to look who it was. Legolas clipped the front clip shut so the cloack wouldn’t fall off of you. “You seemed cold.” He said, smiling slightly as he sat back down. “I- Thank you.” You said, still confused by the gesture. “Aren’t you going to be cold?” You then asked, feeling bad if he’d have to freeze because of you. The elf laughed lightly at your question and shook his head. “Elves can tolerate the cold better than humans, therefore you should keep it.” He explained to you.
You had never really thought of how different you were to him. Sure, you were friends with him, but you had no idea that the elves could tolerate the cold better than humans. Maybe you’d find out something else about him as the fellowship continued. This had to only one from many things that made elves so different from you.
You noticed that the faint light of the moon made his almost white hair look magical. The usually well braided strands of hair had opened up from the fighting the group had gone through with a few orcs earlier that day. You had noticed that the prince usually kept his hair well done, but maybe he hadn’t noticed yet.
Not being sure if you’d embarrass him if you pointed it out, you got up and sat next to him. You weren’t an elf but you had gotten your hair done before and over the years learned how to braid hair in different styles. So without another word, you took a hold of one of the half opened braids and began to undo it completely. Legolas seemed to have tensed up for a moment and you felt his eyes on you, but to your surprise he soon turned his gaze away and let you continue.
You braided the first strand of hair, pulling it behind his ear the way you’d seen him usually have them. After starting to fix the other one, you felt another pair of eyes on the two of you. With a quick look you found out who it was. Aragorn was sitting on the other side of the campfire with an amused look on his face. Not understanding what he had found amusing, you kept on working on Legolas’ hair. The prince’s hair was smooth and easy to work with. Humming to yourself, “you have lovely hair.” You said quietly, seeing the man shiver, but saying nothing about it. You were enjoying the moment, getting to feel closer to your friend for once. The warmth of Legolas’ cloak and the fire kept you warm and protected from the gusts of wind. The smell of the soup Sam had made was good, and it felt great to know you were going to be eating something that not only would taste good but also would be warm. You felt like you had only been eating bread and apples for such a long time.
You finished the other braid and mixed it in with the unbraided parts of his hair. “Both are fixed again.” You hummed mostly to yourself but out loud so Legolas could hear it too. You felt his eyes on you for a moment before they moved to Sam, when he handed the both of you a bowl with some steaming soup in it. You thanked the hobbit with a nod, and began to eat. From the corner of your eye, you caught Aragorn telling Gimli something and them both silently laughing. Trying not to pay no mind to the conversation, you couldn't help but to wonder if it was about what Aragorn had found so amusing earlier?
After that night, many more passed. Some worse and some just as good, but what kept everyone going was the mission and the people in the fellowship. Legolas never mentioned anything about you braiding his hair, and he even let you do it once or twice after. But after every time, it felt like more eyes were on the two of you. It was first only Aragorn, then Gimli joined and soon even Gandalf was in on it. At times it felt like even Legolas knew what was going on.
After some time of you being oblivious of what had been going on, you decided to bring it up. You had so many theories of what they could have been up to, that you just had to find out. Making your way from the back of the group to where Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli were, you prepared yourself. “What are you hiding from me?” This got the attention of the three, all of them slowing down their walking speed a little. “Whatever do you mean?” Legolas asked, giving Aragorn a quick look, almost as if he was trying to tell the man something. “You all clearly have been sharing a rumor or something along the lines of that.” You replied, but didn’t get an answer from anyone for a moment. “You should tell them.” Gandalf’s voice rang from the front of the group, clearly also aware of what you were talking about. “It isn’t a rumor per say.” Gimli started, looking at Aragorn for a moment, hoping he’d take it from there. You saw Legolas look away, not taking part in the conversation. “We wished to congratulate you on confessing to Legolas.” Your eyes widened for a moment, and without even wanting to, a “what?” Left your mouth. “They weren’t aware, Aragorn.” Legolas finally joined in, looking at his friend. “What is this all about?” You tilted your head. “When you braid his hair. See, to elves it has a significant meaning behind it.” Aragorn tried to explain. Your hand traveled over your mouth, clearly shocked. “And you didn't think to tell me?” You blushed slightly, smacking Legolas’ arm lightly. He stopped, taking a light hold of your hand to pause you as well. “I wanted to explain it to you but I found that..” He tried to look for words for a moment, and you let him. “I found that I cared for you that way, and I wasn’t certain if you had found the meaning yourself...” His eyes met yours again, after traveling for a moment. You stayed silent, not even noticing that the rest of the fellowship had also stopped near the two of you. “But I am aware that I should have told-” Legolas broke the silence but you stopped him before he could finish. “It’s all okay. I feel similar.” You admitted, looking away for a second. “Is this a better time for congratulations?” Gimli’s voice asked from behind you as Aragorn walked closer as well. “Yes, yes it is.” You smiled and turned back to Legolas. His eyes looked at you with admiration in them. “Gi Melin.” (I love you)

hii!! so your previous crush-post (xD) was so. cute! may I ask for some more romantic fluff and the Fellowship (and Faramir and Arwen, if it's okay?) proposing to the reader?
I added pictures of what the rings might look like because I have a Pinterest addiction and figured I could put it to use
How the fellowship proposes (+ Faramir & Arwen)
Aragorn:
-To be completely honest, I don’t see him being particularly traditional about it
-And by that I mean he doesn’t make a big thing of it and doesn’t do the whole kneeling thing
-I imagine him proposing just happens in a loving conversation that is pretty casual
-But honestly every conversation with him feels kinda intimate so it’s still very romantic
Legolas:
-He is restless
-He plans it to be thought out and to give a little speech
-But it just kinda comes out
-Not in an awkward or rushed way; but he is just so in love he can’t wait any longer
Gimli:
-Actually shitting himself
-I really think he would have planned to propose on multiple different occasions but got too scared and chickened out
-It’s not because he isn’t sure about it, or thinks you won’t say yes; he just wants it to be perfect
-He covers for his anxiety with a forced confidence that is frankly adorable
-Blushes profusely
Boromir:
-Very traditional
-I’m talking secluded paradise with rose petals and candles everywhere
-He spares no expense; no he’s not extra…he just wants to show how much he loves you…that’s it
-Down on one knee giving a honorable and sweet speech about how you are the best thing in his life and how he will spend eternity loving you
-Definitely gets a little emotional but for the most part he keeps it together (the same cannot be said for your wedding)
-He had Faramir help him find a ring because I refuse to believe Boromir knows anything about fashion, let alone jewelry
Frodo:
-He’s a bit restless, but in a giddy sort of way
-He’s just so excited about the idea of marrying you that he isn’t even thinking too much about the proposal
-He knows you will say yes
-I could also see him putting the ring somewhere you will find it; maybe on your pillow, and hide in the next room all giddy like a little kid as he waits for you to find it
-This is what my dad apparently did and I think it’s cute
Sam:
-Ok I know I said Gimli is shitting himself; but this guy is actually having the squirts
-But he’s nervous because he gets very down on himself at times and he worries you might say no
-Logically he knows you will be so excited because you have talked about marriage before; but he can’t help but worry
-Doesn’t take you anywhere too fancy; he keeps it kinda casual but romantic
-Maybe in the garden
Merry:
-He has had this planned for months
-He has one of his friends distract you for the day while he sets up a romantic picnic dinner
-Like a surprise party that you are kinda expecting because the person getting you out of the house is kinda sus
-But it’s so sweet and Merry is dresses so nicely
-Seriously a dapper little hobbit
-He has practiced some speeches to Pippin, but he doesn’t end up doing any of them
-Instead he opts for just a natural conversation that is sweet and to the point
-Big expensive gem
Pippin:
-He has been pretending to propose for a while
-Well not really pretending, but you know it’s not his official proposal
-That being said every “proposal” he does comes with some sort of offering; he once did it with your dinner plate
-All his fake proposals were to have some fun with it, but mainly to get over his nerves; he’s practicing
-Will continue to fake propose even after you are married just for the fun of it
-Likes to see people’s reactions (plus maybe get a free cake slice at a restaurant or something idk)
-I wanted to add a joke picture of a tiny with three plastic carrots but alas you are only allowed 10 pictures apparently so just imagine I did a funny thing
*Bonus Faramir
-He is just the sweetest and I love this man
-He seems like the type to propose pretty early on in a relationship
-Not because he’s rushing, but he just knows you are the one
-Surprisingly calm about it; or at least he appears that way
*Double bonus Arwen:
-She is probably the most confident of them all
-She is just so sure spoken
-She makes sure you both are dressed in your best clothes and will take you to a beautiful secluded place in Rivendell
-Idk why but I felt strongly that the gem would be blue
-(sorry hers is short, I wasn’t particularly inspired idk why)
——————————————————————-
Just a little reminder that Gandalf isn’t included because I don’t generally write him for romantic prompts unless specifically asked

I'm thinking about "What if the main character did not have a secret, powerful family background and was just some random person?" AUs for different stories, because I personally find that situation more compelling most of the time and I think it introduces more interesting struggles. While thinking about a bunch of other stories, I ended up thinking about Aragorn in "Lord of the Rings".
Now, Aragorn is a special case because 1) I wouldn't really call him THE main character and the "noble" members of the Fellowship are well-contrasted by the hobbits. The hobbits may be mostly Shire gentry (except for Sam), but on the grand stage of Middle Earth, they're still unimpressive nobodies. Frodo is already our ordinary hero. 2) Aragorn's road to kingship comes with him struggling with his ancestor's failures and accepting the heavy burdens that come with being Isildur's heir. This is specifically an arc of a character struggling with their family history. I am absolutely not saying that Aragorn being royalty makes LOTR a bad story and that it would be better if he was just some random guy. I think this is a well-written character storyline that is a key feature of the overall story.
But I do think it would be really funny to write fanfiction where Aragorn wasn't Arathorn's son. (There is the issue of the heritage that makes Aragorn age slowly, but maybe you could wiggle that so that Aragorn has that kind of heritage from a different source?) Like, the line of Isildur has died out, and let's say that Aragorn's mother takes shelter in Rivendell with her son, and kid Aragorn ends up wandering around to the broken sword and picking up the handle. And either Aragorn's mother lies to Elrond about Aragorn being Arathorn's son or Elrond happens across kid Aragorn with the broken sword and thinks... "Hey, what if we just... lied about it?"
Now, this could end really badly! As I vaguely understand it, the Silmarillion (which I have not read) contains a bunch of examples where lying did not go well, so maybe this lie is how Middle Earth falls into chaos in this AU. Whoops.
But even though this breaks some plotlines, I'm a sucker for adoption storylines. I love adoption being treated as important. It's compelling to imagine Elrond and Aragorn's mother carefully explaining the situation with the sword to him, and then this child just... stubbornly deciding that he's going to become Isildur's heir. Maybe Aragorn's determination falters at some point, he gives up on the idea, and he later has to return to Elrond as an adult and persuade him that no, he means it this time, mankind isn't just about bloodlines, he's going to pick up this burden on behalf of all of humanity. I think that there's something powerful in a person deciding that no, I'm not of Isildur's blood, but I have his same potential for success and for failure, and I'm here. I'm fighting. I picked up the broken sword and that's good enough, isn't it? Who are you to say I'm not his heir? I'm HERE.
I think there's powerful magic in that too. (Also, Arathorn is dead and getting adopted as a father by some random kid. Sure. Okay. I think that's just funny.)
(Also, oh my, there is SO MUCH tragedy if Aragorn being Isildur's heir is a lie and Boromir died believing it. The GUILT. The GUILT that Aragorn would feel when Boromir says, "I would have followed you, my brother, my captain, my king." Like, oh man, now you HAVE TO make it true.)
Now, maybe Aragorn doesn't become King of Gondor in this AU or maybe he does. Maybe Faramir becomes king instead. Maybe it becomes well known by the end of the journey that Aragorn isn't a blood descendant of Isildur and maybe it's a secret known only to the Fellowship. I'd like to think that he still marries Arwen. I like the idea of Arwen happily and knowingly marrying some nobody lying about his heritage and Elrond internally being like, "This is kind of on me."
The most important thing here is that it would be so fucking funny if Aragorn (and Elrond and Gandalf and Galadriel) successfully lied to Sauron the Deceiver. Sauron's like, "Oh? A secret heir come out of hiding to fight against me? Sounds legit." And at some point near the end, just before some hobbits chuck a ring into a volcano behind his back, Sauron is looking at Aragorn like, "Wait a minute, what the fuck, you lying little SHIT."
(Or Sauron finds out via Pippin that Aragorn is lying and feels SO SMUG about how he's going to crush a false king, which just adds to Aragorn's whole "made you look!" distraction keeping Sauron from noticing the hobbits sneaking into Mount Doom.)

Are there any other blogs like yours? I love to read about ocs and people's headcanons and world bulding you know? Like people adding their own thoughts to the story, but i don't think i have Ever seen another like this one..
Okay first of all, I want to hug you, shake your hand, and put you on a pedestal, because people who "love to read about ocs and people's headcanons and world building" are a rare treasure! <3
What probably makes my blog different from others you've seen is that I'm a little more extensive and intense (for lack of a better word) with my worldbuilding and AU formation. For the most part, I stick to ONE consistent timeline, history, and universe across the board, for all my Tolkien writing. I might occasionally deviate for the sake of fic requests, but for the most part, I'm keen on consistency and everything tying together neatly.
For example, I will only ever have one same OC wife for canon characters like Eomer, Boromir, or Elendil. In my AU, Boromir will never die. Thranduil has only ever loved Maereth. Legolas will never be an only child. These facts will always hold true in the Tolkien fics I write, unless a request asks for otherwise and I am willing to be flexible.
The upside to this is that Readers will know what to expect from my blog and my writing--everything is focused towards the SotWK AU. The downside is, if you don't like my AU concept, I probably won't have much to offer you on the Tolkien front since I don't practice that creative flexibility.
Which is why I'm so grateful there are people like you who appreciate that sort of thing and can be an audience for it!
But BACK TO YOUR QUESTION! (I apologize for going off-topic.)
I have some writer friends who also do a considerable amount of worldbuilding, headcanon writing, and OC creation for their fics! Please check their blogs out:
@meluiloth - Mirkwood/Silvan headcanons and OCs
@fishing4stars - Eryn Galen, young Thranduil, 4th Age Legolas
@toasterdrake - has their own Mirkwood AU, @acornsandoaktrees
@from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras - Rohan worldbuilding, some Rohan OCs but specializing in "obscure canons."
These are the blogs who write out their headcanons similar to the way that I do, but there are probably others out there I am just not Mutuals with.
Thank you again for this Ask, and bless you for your support of OCs and writers' worldbuilding!

the fellowship meeting their partner’s family
a/n: this brilliant idea was requested by @starlady66! I hope I did okay, let me know how it was 😄 and yes, of course I am including Faramir too. if you liked this fic, consider reblogging it so more people can potentially see it and enjoy 💕 it gives me motivation to write more!
ARAGORN:
is a little quiet at first, but not awkwardly quiet
remembers what you had told him about your family and then brings it up in conversation with the
very very respectful
offers to help with anything and everything, from cooking to cleaning or fixing something
your family thought he was initially just a little odd, but they warmed up to him very quickly
he’s invited to every family gathering right away, you insist that he doesn’t have to come if it’s too much, but he really wants to
💐
BOROMIR:
brings them flowers and a fancy drink at least
wants to bring even more gifts but you reassure him he’s already doing enough
he’s an absolute favorite among your younger siblings/cousins, they don’t want to let him go
and it warms your heart so much
he praises you in front of the family and makes you blush
they all liked him immediately and he was super charming and easygoing, you were the more nervous one
💐
FARAMIR:
not gonna lie, he IS stressed out, but you reassure him he’s perfect and has nothing to worry about
literally practices how he’ll introduce himself and all that
he manages to accidentally fumble something, but it’s a perfect ice-breaker because everybody is laughing
they love him instantly, even if he’s initially a bit quiet and awkward
he was going to bring them some little present, but he forgot
eventually gets so carried away talking and having some deep discussion that you almost fall asleep by his side
💐
FRODO:
simultaneously he’s a nervous wreck, but also knows that he generally makes a good impression on people
runs his hand through his hair a million times to make it look neater
offers to help with the food even though it’s not his strongest suit
asks a lot of questions after he gets comfortable, and listens with interest
accidentally takes a short nap after the meal and is SUPER embarrassed
but nobody takes it the wrong way, it just becomes an inside joke that runs forever
💐
GIMLI:
lots of gifts for everyone. EVERYONE.
you think it’s too much but he just really wants to make a great impression
you’re important to him, so, your family is too
they bonded so quickly that they almost forgot that you were also there (oops lmao)
lots of laughing, and they would be asking him to retell some fun adventures you had together
he compliments the food a lot and eventually they’d pack him some leftovers
💐
LEGOLAS:
you know the charming, charismatic elf that he is? well, you can forget about that, it seems
he feels extremely awkward, no idea why
regardless, your family likes him immediately, even if they do consider him a bit strange
you try to carry the conversation most of the time and he’s very grateful for it
eventually when he gets over himself, he will be very communicative and pleasant
your family asks him a bunch of questions; they’ve never had a guest like that before!
💐
MERRY:
charming and witty as ever, also brings flowers
fits in right away, as if he’s always been a part of the family
they all think he’s hilarious and can’t get enough of his stories
he wants to hear the stories about you when you were a small child (and will use the new information to poke fun at you for eternity)
compliments everyone and everything, loves all the food
also invited to all the family gatherings and events henceforth
💐
PIPPIN:
is nervous, but hides it decently well, or eases it through humor
really wanted to bring a little gift, but forgot
accidentally knocks something over or trips or something like that, but you all just have a laugh about it (he blushes)
he likes to talk about how great you are, so he will definitely comment on that in front of your family too
okay, maybe they did think he was a little too chaotic or immature, but he has a heart of gold and they know it!
you will overhear them commenting on the way he looks at you and how good he treats you
💐
SAM:
brings a half of his garden as a present: flowers, vegetables, you name it
maybe even he cooks/bakes something and then brings it over, then blushes at the compliments
they all love him immediately (who doesn’t!)
loves to listen to your family’s stories about you
offers to help with washing up
a younger sibling/relative of yours asks him something like “when are you going to marry [Y/N]?”
💐

i finished reading the fellowship of the ring for the first time!!!
• one lasting impression i have is that i love boromir so much. when it started snowing on the mountain, he was so concerned for the halflings, it was so sweet. there were many instances like that where both he and aragorn fiercely defended the hobbits, or carried them, and i may pass away if i think about it too much.
• b-bill… 🥺 i was genuinely so sad for sam to have to send his beloved pony away to certain danger. if i didn’t already know from tumblr tolkien lore that bill lives, i would be really sad right now.
• damn, the movies really did gimli dirty, didn’t they? (don’t get me wrong, i love the movies and i have little to no problems with them) but literally no one wanted to go to moria because they knew how dangerous it was going to be. in the movies, it was like gimli was trying to convince the company to go that way. just a difference i noticed!
• i just put the book down, just now, to come type this bullet point because i needed a breather. i am currently, right now, on the edge of my fucking seat!!! (im laying in bed but you know what i mean)
my heart is beating out of my chest! like, i know what’s gonna happen, but they’re sooo close 😫 imagine never having read the books, and the first movie comes out, and you don’t know that gandalf comes back. that would be so insane/devastating.
• lmfao because of that one post on tumblr “when watching fotr with your friends and the balrog shows up you can tell them, this is where legolas starts screaming in the book” but friends. he’s not screaming. he’s wailing it (honestly valid, i would react the exact same way but for a minute just picture movie legolas wailing upon the arrival of the balrog and tell me that’s not funny).
• i like that we get more detail and interaction with the elves in lorien. book galadriel comes across softer, friendlier, less scary (maybe that’s just because movie galadriel scared me with that one scene when i was younger).
• i kept waiting for boromir to die, and i was like, he’s (tolkien is) running out of time here! how can we get to that part AND adequately say goodbye to him?
when i had like 5 pages left i was like yeah there’s no way. i went to my husband all stressed about it and he told me it doesn’t happen until the second book! i was like ohhhhh, okay.
• i can’t wait to start the two towers! of the movies, it’s my favorite and i’m interested to see how that differs.

You are spoiling us!! 😍 ! Okay I wish you would write something with Boromir, maybe where he is tired and reader takes care of him :") something soft ♡
@noldorinpainter So sorry it took me long. :) Also I deviated from your request, but just a little. Hope you enjoy. Oh, in case you're interested, the songspiration was Gorod 312 - Pomogi mne - loosely, but still. The art is by The-Wizard-of-Art
Tagging @scyllas-revenge @glassgulls @lathalea @fizzyxcustard @absentmindeduniverse @court-jobi @middleearthpixie @sotwk @emmyspov @evenstaredits @guardianofrivendell @way-too-addicted-to-fandoms @asgardianhobbit98 and sorry, sorry if I forgot anyone, I got lost somewhere between Discord and Tumblr.
Ok, here it is:
Before the Storm
“Your lips are softer than they look,” you lean out of the kiss unhurriedly, basking in the feeling of his breath upon you face.
“Hmm?”
“Your…lips…are…soft,” you alter your own statement – and the sense of it, too, “But only when I kiss you. Why aren’t they soft, when you kiss me?”
You don’t need the answer as much as you need to see that deceitful mouth twitch and tighten, as too predictable images float up before his mind’s eye. The sight is fleeting, yet you cherish it better than any words he could say.
“You utter the strangest things, dove,” your Captain states with no particular expression.
His eyes are still closed. Your heart forgets how to beat, shrinking in sweet pain, as you touch the very tips of his eyelashes and stroke them as carefully as you can afford it.
“I do them, too,” you whisper more to yourself than to him.
He looks so distant, and so close, and stern, and defenseless.
The armchair by the fire is built sturdy enough to hold the weight of you, curled on his laps and clinging to his exhausted self like bindweed.
It is unkind – wicked of you to enjoy such moments, when you have to thank his tiredness for that.
For a blissfully long sting of minutes all you can think of is how his breath becomes more and more even, tamed by the movements of your hand, running through his hair over and over again.
“I must go down.”
“Yes, do,” you agree easily, “Nobody wants you here.”
“Shall I stay and make them?” there’s no single kind note in his voice, but the gleam in his eyes makes up for it to the full.
You allow yourself a laugh that is more of a sigh.
“Stay and sleep. They will look for reasons to put up with you meanwhile.”
The arm, which was up to now slack around your waist, gains strength and presses you to him too hard for a caress.
You lose yourself in another endless kiss.
“Consider this one,” offers he as evenly.
You nod, not ashamed of letting him see how you’re learning to breathe again. Lifting his spirits is worth the fear of denial in your book.
“I’ll bring you the furs,” you say, as he finally relaxes back into the tattered seat.
“No,” the protest is sharp and almost order-like.
Startled by this sudden harshness, you pull back, yet he doesn’t let you to slip away too far. It is not his embrace, but his look that stops you this time. The weariness and despair in it drive a knife through your chest, wiping out everything except your love for him – that and pity you hope he’ll never know you harbour for him.
“Please, dove,” asks he under his breath, “I need…”
“I know,” you cut in, unable to bear it any longer, “Take your rest, Boromir.”
His palm ghosts against your cheek in gratitude, and you wish you could shut out every emotion that comes with it. You wish for it to end and to go on.
You close your eyes, too, and dissolve in his arms, longing to be reborn into a safer world tomorrow.
With him.

hi!!hope your doing okay!
feel free to ignore this ask🎀
but i was just wondering if you could do a reader!with a fear of steepness or heights?
maybe with the fellowship?thank you if you do write this but if you don’t it’s of course okay!!
have a great day!!
We’re getting there that’s for sure 😮💨 of course I will! Even if I’m slow I try to do almost all requests I’m comfortable with 🫶🏻 hope you enjoy this love!
The Fellowship Reacting to Your Fear of Heights
Aragorn
It starts one day upon your ride's passing of cliffs. Aragorn catches the apprehension in your eyes. One glance, two, complete aversion, gaze suddenly fascinated at the back of the rider ahead. Guiding his horse forward, he slips into the space between you and the edge. "You need not ride so close to the edge," he tells you. "I didn't know what the others would say," you reply, "if they would laugh." Aragorn shakes his head at that. "Fear of cliffs-fear of all heights- is natural. Many are uncomfortable at the sight of a precipice. Worry not, for I will be here on your outside."
Legolas
It is never spoken. Never does the elf prince confront you, shame you, even state outright that you fear the cliffs crossed and hills scaled. Rather, he caught you by the waist whenever you slipped, the sweetest and most comforting of smiles given to you at your thanks. He organized all formations to keep you on the inside, and beyond that not a single one of them did not include Legolas himself at your side. Sometimes he would make conversation upon seeing your eyes drift toward the precipice, asking you to tell him of home or to look up instead to the stars. Quiet as he was he would ramble to you if you needed your focus drawn, voice anchoring you even in the most mundane of subjects like his interests in botany.
Boromir
"I have seen the change in your eyes when we scale the hills." Looking up from your waterskin, your gaze links with Boromir's. "Are you frightened?" Heart stuttering, a fraction of your mind wonders if he is mocking you despite the sincerity in his voice. "Yes," you admit after the passing of several more heartbeats, "I fear the elevation." You must look as tense as you feel, for Boromir spreads his arms invitingly, openly. "And that is no shame! It is in our nature to avoid danger, is it not? At least if we're smart. Guess at least one of us in this group is." One corner of his mouth quirks up at that, and he reaches over to clap a hand over your shoulder. "Next time just reach out if you'd like a hand to hold. I have two to spare right here."
Gimli
Unable to help the way your breath hitches when your neighbor's horse jostles your own mount, brushing you that much closer to the edge, you momentarily squeeze your eyes shut, ready to be perceived. You are not expecting it to be by who it is, though, as the voice rings out behind you. Gimli is taking his turn to share horses with you, as you had insisted to the rest you did not mind, and you feel his grip on your waist tighten ever so slightly as he speaks. "Not a fan of cliffs, ey lassie/laddie?" Well, you've been found out now. "No," you shake your head, and as you glance back at him he must catch the dismay in your eyes. "No need to look so sad! I certainly don't favor taking a tumble. Can't blame you at all." Your lips form a small 'o' at that. "I...I guess I thought people might laugh," you admitted. "Laugh? At something so...so... why, mundane? Sensible! Laugh and they'll go flying off themselves!"
Frodo
"The cliff." Head snapping Frodo's way, you gave the hobbit a questioning look, urged him to continue. "You fear the cliffs, do you not?" Heart dropping, you just nodded. Would they send you away now that your weakness was spied? Speeding his steps to brush past the others, he approached you, shoulder brushing yours. Moving you closer to safety. "I understand. We certainly have nothing of the sort in the Shire," he lightly joked, but his eyes went serious as he looked up at you, "we are all afraid, I think. You have no cause for shame. You have all of us to keep you safe." "Thank you, Frodo," you smile, resting a hand on his shoulder, "thank you."
Sam
"Here, walk on the other side of me. There we go." Doing as Sam asked, you realized you had never told him of your fear. Perhaps the spikes of worry were simply that plain upon your face. "Was it that obvious?" You couldn't resist asking. "Oh, I beg your pardon, but I did see you flinch away from the edge there," Sam answered, tilting his head to peer into your eyes, "'s nothing to worry about, though. I don't fancy falling myself. I just wanted to make you more comfortable." The earnest of his words got to you, pouring warmth straight down your heart and moving you to throw your arms around him before you can stop yourself. The surprise caught you, but Sam's smile when you pull away tells you that once again you had nothing to worry about.
Merry
"Whoa, watch out!" Merry's call came just a moment too late as your foot slipped on a loose rock, your balance sliding out from under you and setting your heart pounding. The hobbit came and took your hand to right you, but panic still spiked through your chest down to your limbs. "You alright?" Light as the question was, it was clear by the intent shining in his green eyes that the hobbit was not letting you go until you could confidently say yes. Several heavy breaths later, you nodded. "It's ok," he breathed, "I've got you, alright?" Smiling faintly, you nodded, and Merry squeezed your hand. "In fact, I'll stay right by your side this whole way."
Pippin
"What do you say?" Pippin spoke your name eagerly, waving an encouraging hand. "Want to climb the trees there for a bit? Might be some fruit for us if we get far enough." A small course of apprehension ran through you even at the thought, at the sight of the boughs and the majestic plant that seemed to tower over you. You shook your head. "No, thank you, you two go ahead." Far more enjoyment would come from simply watching him and Merry go. Pippin's brow furrowed at your refusal. "Not one for climbing?" "No," you admitted with another small shake of your head. "Well," he rested his hands firmly on his hips, "then I'm not going, either." "Oh, no, really I don't mind," you waved him off, "just because I'm scared doesn't mean-" "It's not that," Pippin insisted, eyes shining, "I'd rather be here with you."

Hi how are you? I love your writings❤️ Can I get a romantic matchup with LOTR, HOBBIT, Harry Potter, Marvel? I am 25. She/Her. I can match with a man or woman. I have short dark brown curly hair and hazel eyes. I have white skin, my height is around 1.65 and I'm curvy.
I'm generally introverted and cold-blooded. I'm stubborn. I'm generally pretty patient, but when I run out of patience I can get very grumpy. I'm a bit of a pessimist. I don't talk much outside unless necessary and prefer to observe. I am a good listener. To outsiders, I seem strict, distant and sometimes a little scary, but to those around me, I am very talkative, friendly, affectionate and fun. I'm also a good secret keeper, tell me anything and I'll take it to my grave. I am a faithful and loyal person. I'm a perfectionist. I always like to have everything orderly and under control, but sometimes it can be very challenging. I'm independent, I try not to get help for anything and I don't like to fit into certain stereotypes. I am always respectful and even interested in opposing views. I have a hard time voicing my opinions on anything, which can sometimes make me seem rude or disrespectful, but I really don't mean any harm. I'm a nerdy girl and I'm okay with that.✨️
I live in my own world. I love drawing, watching TV series and movies, and listening to music. I also love writing. I love learning new things about any subject. I love art, literature, philosophy, history and mythology. My favorite colors are black and green. I can listen to any genre of songs I like depending on my mood. But some of my Favorites are Diary of Dreams, The Gazette, The Neighbourhood, Chase Atlantic, One Republic, Marina and The Diamonds, Paris Paloma, Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, Hozier, Melanie Martinez, Mitski, AC/DC and Iron Maiden. My favorite TV series is Hannibal. I love thrillers, true crime, detective and mystery, fantasy and sci-fi. I think these are the things that come to my mind right now... thank you! I hope you have a good day❤️
Hi! I am so sorry that I got to this so late! I feel terrible! <3
But, I hope you like your matchups!
{Trying a different layout}
Romantic Matchup; LOTR, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, and Marvel
~~~
Lord Of The Rings;
Aragorn -
You met Aragorn at the very beginning, and despite being a lady, you were personally invited by Lord Elrond himself to join the meeting to see who would take the ring to Mordor.
You didn't really talk much, or at all, but you observed, being a good listener; though, as one by one spoke up, debating, your attention went straight to the mysterious, tall, dark, and handsome stranger whose voice you really liked - he was handsome, as said, and he was bringing up some good points.
Hands clasped together in your lap, you watched as people began to argue, and you were just a smidge annoyed.
Well, who knew you were going to become part of the Fellowship Of The Ring?
It was difficult at the beginning of the journey. Gimli and Boromir were pretty adamant that the journey was no place for a lady - far too dangerous, they said!
But Aragorn, you had learned his name, stood up for you, bringing up the fact that Lord Elrond himself asked you to join, that they should all trust his judgment.
Well, you showed them, on more than one occasion, that you were a wise and strong person.
Now, throughout the journey, you had slowly, slowly gotten used to the people around you. The Hobbits were easy to befriend, honestly.
But, at some point, you had grown comfortable in their presence, enough that you had grown to become more talkative and friendly.
Though, it was different with Aragorn. You didn't know if it was just you, but you thought that maybe there was something different in the way he spoke to you than he did with the others. Maybe it was just you...
Maybe...
Well, it turns out that Aragorn was quite taken with you, having caught his eyes the moment you joined the meeting in Rivendell; dressed beautifully, presence respectful, and eyes shimmering with a certain intelligence and strength that captured his interest almost instantly.
And his interest had only grown the more he got to meet you, get to know, and understand you; not only were you intelligent, respectful, strong, and understanding, but you were also loyal and independent - something Aragorn admired greatly.
As the journey continues, minus the orcs and whatever troubles you all run into, you and Aragorn's bond begins to grow the more you spend together.
From late nights of keeping watch sharing your favorite stories and books to recalling your favorite topics in history; there are even nights when you talk the night away about everything your heart desires, until you fall asleep, your head resting on his shoulder.
Aragorn didn't have the heart to wake you...
Despite you being an incredibly good fighter and defender, Aragorn always makes sure that you are alright after an attack from orcs or something. You do the same, your eyes at the end of a fight would search for each other, small faint smiles of relief on your faces.
In the end, Aragorn gives you the best room while you and the rest of the Fellowship stay in his kingdom after he is crowned king. Your room is one of the biggest, and close to his room, in case you need anything.
He makes sure that you have everything that you could possibly need. Someone to wait on you in case you need something, need help changing, a bath to be drawn, a snack, anything. And do not worry, you are not a burden. Aragorn would do anything for you.
Another thing; Aragorn gifts you lavish clothing, in green and black, that you are comfortable in. The sight of the new article always brings a smile to your face and a rush of blood to your cheeks. And, of course, he always compliments you when he sees you.
Whilst you stay, Aragorn often finds you in the library, reading, drawing, or just admiring the view outside - he often joins you, to talk, laugh, or just spend time in your amazing company.
Aragorn finally confesses his feelings and admiration for you after you.
"You have been my strength through every shadow and trial - my heart has long been yours, though I have been too much a fool to say it."
Well, let's just say, that you didn't end up leaving after that.
You and Aragorn work seamlessly together, both of you valuing independence and the quiet strength that comes with keeping order. Patience is a shared virtue, though he is perhaps more steadfast than yours.
Your friendly and affectionate nature balances his quiet reserve, while your stubborn loyalty earns his deepest respect.
Even in moments when your pessimism clouds your thoughts, he admires your unwavering commitment to those you care for, finding strength in the fire that drives you.
~~~
The Hobbit;
Thorin Oakenshield -
You had run into the Dwarves and one Hobbit when they were getting attacked by the spiders in Mirkwood.
You were heading to Mirkwood - Thorin thought that was suspicious - but instead of just letting them suffer through spiders, you helped them cut out of webs and stab spiders to death; you were truly skilled fighter, it was no wonder most of the Company wanted to keep you.
Though you were a bit hesitant and distant - you met up with them, fighting off orcs, jumping in an empty barrel, and holding onto Bilbo so he wouldn't drown.
As you were all racing down the raging river, you didn't know if you were having fun or not. More like worrying over the whole group and making sure after every small waterfall that you counted each Dwarf.
One, two, three, ah, okay, all accounted for, all alive...
Thorin, even though you helped him and his family/friends out of danger, he didn't really know what to think of you. His blue eyes would watch you, observing you, as you also observed your surrounding, whilst also listening to the Dwarves about their stories and adventures.
He didn't know what to think of you at the very moment, but he thanked you for your help, to himself.
But you had been able to bond with most of the other Dwarves, like Fili and Kili, which consisted of laughter, shared stories, and affectionate hugs.
And when Kili was in pain, though you worried and your mind thought only of the worst, you held his hand.
These actions made the King Under The Mountain reconsider you for a moment. Maybe there was something different about you.
That night, as you curled close to the fire that night before he and the rest of the Company - minus a few - left for Erebor, Thorin found a spare blanket and placed it upon your sleeping form.
And only after the defeat of Smaug, and after the war - and everyone surviving - did he finally realize that maybe the 'something different' about you was actually because you might've been his One; he just was too stubborn to truly see it.
This new realization hit him hard, and at first, the King was scared. He had wished that he had gotten to know you more, had spoken to you more.
Well, you were here now, partying with the rest - of men, dwarves, elves, and Hobbits alike. Maybe, this was his chance to push aside his stubbornness and brooding and speak to you.
He made his move, surprising you by asking you to join him for a drink, where he gave you a goblet of red wine. And for the next hour or so, you spoke among yourselves, on the sidelines of the raging party. *Disco music.*
There, you and Thorin spoke about the music, your favorite instruments, books your loved to read, and more. All the while, you didn't seem to notice the way Thorin's eyes softened as you rambled slightly.
At the end of the first night of many more nights of partying and celebrating the return of their home, Thorin finally spoke up.
"You have fought beside me with a courage that humbles even a king - I would wish it that you stay here in Erebor a while longer, so I may properly show my gratitude."
It is while you are staying longer in Erebor that he finally reveals to you that you are his One.
To keep a long story short, all while courting, you and Thorin would sit by the fire and read quietly together, take walks through Erebor's halls, write sweet letters to each other, and Thorin would braid a piece of your hair, clasping it with his homemade, one-of-a-kind bead.
You and Thorin share a bond forged in mutual respect and quiet understanding.
He admires your love for reading and thirst for knowledge, seeing it as a strength that complements his vision for Erebor.
Even your perfectionist tendencies, though sometimes a point of contention, earn his respect - he sees in you someone who strives for greatness, much like himself.
Your unwavering support has become a pillar he relies on.
~~~
Harry Potter;
Remus Lupin -
You and Remus first met at Hogwarts as students, though your friendship didn’t blossom immediately.
You were a quiet, observant presence, often keeping to yourself. He was aware of you from a distance, admiring your calm, controlled demeanor, which differed from his more lighthearted friends.
It was a nice different.
Although you were distant from new and strange people, your shared classes often brought you together.
You both preferred studying in quiet corners of the library, where Remus noticed how you worked meticulously, seeing how much you loved to learn not only from books but also from lessons.
Finally, after you had both gotten use to each other, you began studying together in the library.
You even started correcting his notes.
When Sirius and James found out about that, they teased him.
Over time, you became close enough for him to see the softer, affectionate side you reserved for those you trusted.
You’d often listen patiently as he confided in you, especially during stressful times.
Full moon times. It had taken him a year and a half to tell you he was a werewolf, and he was incredibly nervous that you would tell everyone or just not be his friend anymore.
He was scared that you would look at him in disgust.
He would miss your hugs as hellos in the mornings, he would miss the peaceful conversations regarding your interests.
He would miss the way your face would light up at the mention of your favorite muggle movies or show, or how you would ramble beautifully on and on about myths and philosophy. He wouldn't dare stop you.
He loved the sound of your voice.
He was a bit of a pessimist himself.
Surprisingly, and to his shock, he found great comfort in your reaction. When he finally gathered the courage to tell you his secret, his heart raced, waiting for the look of disgust he feared you’d give him.
But instead, you remained calm, simply listening, your eyes thoughtful yet soft. You placed a hand on his, a simple gesture that spoke volumes, steadying him as you always had in the quiet way that had drawn him to you from the start.
“You’re still Remus." You had told him. “The rest doesn’t change who you are.”
Years after graduation, you both found yourselves back at Hogwarts, now as professors.
Remus was pleasantly surprised to see you again, finding it easy to pick up where you two had left off.
Your no-nonsense attitude and perfectionism made you a strict professor, yet students respected you for your dedication and fairness. And also quite enjoyed that you would give them little treats and snacks after long quizzes or tests.
Remus often visited your office to chat after classes. You’d sometimes scold him for his relaxed teaching style, though he found it endearing.
Despite your -sometimes - grumpy demeanor, you cared deeply, which he always noticed in the way you’d subtly check on his health and workload.
Especially when the full moons were around the bend.
Remus would find chocolate on his desk in DADA.
And you'd find books on your favorite topics on yours.
After long days of teaching, you and Remus would often sit by the fire in his quarters or yours, sharing tea or hot chocolate. The two of you would talk about myths, Muggle literature, and your favorite Muggle music, losing track of time until the early hours of the morning.
It reminded you of how you and Remus would sit in the Common Room studying until the wee hours of the morning.
He loved the way you spoke passionately about the things that you were interested in, and he’d always encouraged you to keep talking, no matter how tired he was.
You’d both spend hours in the library or his office, quietly reading together. He’d occasionally glance up from his book to watch you, marveling at how beautiful you looked when lost in thought. When you found an interesting passage, you’d excitedly share it with him, and he’d always listen intently.
Adding onto the topic of full moons; on the nights leading up to the full moon, you’d make sure he had everything he needed. You’d sit with him if he was feeling anxious. After the full moon, you’d bring him breakfast and sit with him while he rested, healing, reading aloud from his favorite books, or telling him stories to help him relax.
On particularly difficult days, you’d end up falling asleep together on the couch in either of your quarters, surrounded by books and papers for grading. He’d wake up first, brushing a strand of hair from your face, marveling at how peaceful you looked.
Those quiet moments reminded him just how much he loved you and how lucky he felt to have you by his side.
You and Remus are great together because you balance each other out perfectly - his calm, steady nature complements your quiet strength, while your loyalty and understanding provide him with the comfort and support he needs.
Together, you share a deep, unspoken bond, rooted in mutual respect, affection, and a quiet love that grows stronger with each and every passing day.
~~~
Marvel;
Natasha Romanoff -
As Avengers, you and Natasha work seamlessly together. Ever since the beginning, when she wasn't on solo missions or with Clint, you were with her.
Your cold-blooded efficiency in battle complements her own calculated and lethal style.
You’re both perfectionists who thrive on order and control, often planning out every detail of a mission to ensure success. While you can be distant or strict with new recruits, Natasha sees through your tough exterior and knows that beneath it lies a fiercely loyal and caring partner.
You're not one to speak much during operations, preferring to observe and stay silent, but Natasha appreciates the way you always anticipate the next move.
You’re skilled in hand-to-hand combat, just as skilled with weapons.
You’re not just observant on the battlefield but a force to be reckoned with. You’ve honed your combat skills, and even Natasha, with all her experience, finds herself impressed.
She often asks to spar with you, in which it often ends in a tie or the both of you winning the same amount of times.
Away from the chaos of the battlefield, you might not be as expressive or outgoing as some of the other Avengers, in the beginning. It takes you a bit to open up, but when you do, you have become friends with all of them.
You are talkative, laughing along, having fun with them; along with being affectionate, joking punches to the arm, or hugs goodbye.
However, when not spending time with the team, a quiet night spent watching movies or reading is how you like to spend your nights. Unless you are dragged to one of Tony's parties.
Natasha being similar to you, needs time to really get to know you, see what makes you tic, before she can truly let herself be vulnerable around you. And you have proven to her that you were worthy enough, and trustful enough for her to break out of her own shell.
She finds herself finding you around the tower, joining you in the kitchen to grab a snack, or even joining in when you put on your favorite show; Hannibal.
This friendly bonding becomes more and more often, almost weekly you and Natasha find yourselves spending more time together, even time with just the two of you.
The more you spent together, the more the bond between the two of you began to bloom into something more, something beautiful.
"You know... I think I trust you more than anyone else." She would speak up randomly as you both sat against the headboard of your bed, watching your favorite movie.
"Even Stark?" You would ask.
"Yeah, even him." She would reply, her smile matching yours.
Before you knew it, everything would shift.
From small, gentle brushes of the fingers as either pass by or a rare, soft smile just for each other... It was obvious that there was something happening between you two.
On lazy days - not really, the both of you end up in the gym sparring most lazy days - but if you aren't in the gym; pushing for each other to be better, you and Nat would sit in quieter corners of the tower, away from the hustle of the others.
She'd sit beside you as you read, her hand resting on your leg or her head resting on your shoulder. She would sit and listen to you read, or when you weren't reading aloud, she would rest her eyes, maybe even nap; the soft sound of Paris Paloma and Lana del Rey in the background
As a couple, Natasha respects your boundaries and your need for space, but when she needs you, you’re always there— - strong and reliable. In return, she supports you, offering her own quiet form of affection.
You’re never truly alone.
You balance each other, and neither you nor Nat would have it any other way.

Hi i see that your requests are open and i was wondering if you could do some platonic headcanons or a one shot where the reader is a young adult/teen in the fellowship. Perhaps something where aragorn or boromir are sort of a reluctant father figure, kinda like a joel and ellie dynamic from tlou!
A/N: How is everyone doing? I haven't written anything in two months.... I have a bad headache distracting me from schoolwork which means I get to work on this! I need to rest but I miss writing! Anon, I played TLOU a long time ago and I know little to nothing about the second game so this is based on how well I know the first game (probably not that well). I'm sorry this isn't a one shot, I'm trying to keep this simple since I'm trying to adjust after so long of not writing. I'm sorry if this is also bad, but life got in the way and I have other hyperfixations that I currently prioritise over LOTR.
ARAGORN
You had to be the most difficult person Aragorn ever met. He understood life treated you like shit, but that did not excuse your attitude. Life was not kind to him either yet he knew how to remain polite and respect authority. He is a man that keeps his word, however, and would not leave you in a ditch even if it spared him the annoyance you brought him. Once he cooled down and got used to watching over you, he reflected on what he knew about your life and felt pity for you. So young, yet seems older beyond your years. It took a traumatic near death experience for Aragorn to realise he saw you as a daughter, a feeling he did not understand from not having any children of his own (yet) but at that moment he knew he would kill for you.
BOROMIR
He saw so much of him in you that it scared him. It explained how you two just could never get along at all. Okay, you both respected each other enough to not be at each other's throats, but you had no love for seemingly rude men that thought they knew everything and he had nothing but contempt for little brats. Legolas' passing comment about you reminding him of Boromir led him to start feeling as if he should go a little easier on you, treat you with more respect and view you as the adult you are while reminding you you've yet to see the worst of the world with your young age. He also felt the world was much more beautiful than you know it and he would die for you if it meant you can experience true happiness, and that he did.

BLCI extra scenes or BLCI Alternate timeline scenes ??
Oooh okay so the extra scenes are just a collection of bonus scenes I'm planning to post once Burn Like Cold Iron is complete, probably as a separate part 2 fic. I'd meant it to be a collection of deleted scenes, moments that I'd had to cut from the final story, etc. but honestly 90% of them wound up being sex scenes lol. Most of them are also from Boromir's perspective, idk why but I had a lot of fun getting into his angsty, horny brain
I'm trying to find some excerpts to share that aren't plot spoilers or straight-up smut XD here's a G-rated snippet of one scene:
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” she had whispered, standing in his door in her nightgown, and Boromir had frozen, his ears filling with a white roar like the sea. “I know—I know it’s not proper, and it’s not fair to ask you, I know it’s not, but I haven’t slept in days…” Beatrice had swallowed, her exhausted eyes trained on her slippers, her long fingers twisting in her sleeves.
And a G-rated snippet of another scene:
Beatrice raised the bowl of Ent-draught to her lips and drank eagerly. “Are you sure you don’t want any?” she asked, offering him the bowl. “It’s so refreshing.” Boromir smiled and shook his head distantly—he’d only half-heard what she’d said, consumed by the way she’d drawn her thumb over her bottom lip as she wiped a trickle of moisture away, the gleam of a stray bead of water still trailing lazily down her chin and the curve of her neck. “Such magic is best left to you, sorceress.”
As far as the Alternate Timeline bit goes, that's also from Boromir's perspective and okay yes it's also smut I am a predictable piece of trash anyway it's sort of a "what if they had chemistry right when they met in Rivendell and how would that go?" and for that one I'll just copy-paste the notes I wrote in the draft:
They’re both homesick and touch-starved and find comfort in each other and gahhh
He’s also embodying that Boromir Woman article where he falls in love right after having sex and is also on the verge of tears almost constantly because he’s got like 50 lifetimes of stress and no one’s ever been gentle with him in his life yeah that’s the shit
Why didn’t I just write the fic like this in the first place ahhhhhh
I think that sums it up pretty well XD Anyway thanks so much for the ask!!
