Since the firing range had been down for maintenance, Linda-058 had been noticeably less enthused. Without being able to use Nornfang, she had quickly grown to be bored. So, thinking quickly, you suggested that she'd trying a game of accuracy or two. She wasn't very fond of pool, but she loved darts.

It was cute to see the concentration spread across her face before every throw of a dart. Part of you wondered if that was what it was like when she was behind a scope - the regal, calm, collected grace of the Sniper Goddess. When she turned to you and the red of your face, she gave you a playful wink. She won again, of course, but you got the consolation prize of a loving kiss from Spartan-058.

Kelly-087 has a tendency to steal your casual clothes. Even though most of your clothes don't exactly fit her, she will wear them. You'd be losing your mind looking for that sweater you could've sworn you had a week ago only for her to barge in with a guilty smile and returning it because "it doesn't smell like you anymore!" 

She tends to do this when you or her are busy, and she doesn't get to see you as much as she would like. John caught her wearing one of your hoodies once, when Blue Team was on back-to-back missions, and she hadn't seen you in a month. Kelly nearly tackled you when she got to see you again.

In public, Cal-141 acts as expected of her and her reputation as a Spartan-II. But, in the privacy of your quarters, she lets the walls down and basks in the freedom of being her true self. It doesn't matter how long you've been together. Everything you do together is like the first time for her, and it never fails to fluster her.

Slow dancing together, cuddling, holding hands - she loves it all. By far, her favorite thing to do is to compare the sizes of your hands. It never fails to make Cal blush, and if you weave your fingers with hers and kiss the top of her hand afterward? She'll be red in the face thinking about it for the rest of the day.

Your relationship with Sarah Palmer was sort of an open secret aboard the Infinity. Despite you and the Commander doing your best to keep your relationship under wraps, it was obvious to observers. Every other Spartan under her command respected the hell out of her but were kind of afraid of her. Sarah was only this gentle with you and you alone.

One time, Captain Lasky had found her going over your gear before one of your missions with Fireteam Majestic, and he laughed at how quickly she turned red, stuttering excuses for messing with your armor at 0200. Roland will never let her hear the end of it.

I've been waiting to read this, also same, all the Spartans deserve kisses and hugs and someone to love them so much that they're kinda shocked by it but omg gets excited to be with their partner, anyways-

Linda is skeptical when her partner drags her to Spartan Town's activity room and hands her a case of darts. She understands the concept of them and has seen the IVs play, but she isn't sure why they would insist on her playing. Until she actually starts throwing them. Yeah, it's not firing off Nornfang but she's having fun figuring out how to adjust her aim every time she moves back. And she's not complaining when the reward of kisses because you both know she's gonna win.

Blue team 100% gives Kelly shit for stealing her partner's clothes, and she could care less. It's comfortable, and it's not her fault they can't rizz someone up. The rest of the team can tell when Kelly wants to see her partner because she gets restless and is practically hopping between one feet and the next during missions.

I just adore the idea of Cal getting flustered over someone loving her. She's heard Maria-062 talk about retiring and having a family, and she remembers all the other spartans looking at her weirdly. But Cal gets it now. Yes, there are things she doesn't always understand with relationships, but every time her partner kisses her hand or calls her beautiful, it feels like the first time for her.

Everyone is gonna know because of Roland. That AI is the number one shipper, and he's a snoop. But also Roland is a wingman. If Sarah and her partner are having a moment, sorry, spartan that area of the ship is down for maintenance. Even if it wasn't for the AI, all the IVs see how Sarah's shoulders relax when you enter the room during war game or how her eyes always scan the room and settle on you before giving her fireteams crap. And Lasky? He's loving this because he gets to tease her endlessly with Roland.

I…CANT BELIEVE I FINISHED THIS IN LESS THAN A DAY!!!! LESS THAN TWENTY FOUR HOURS WOOHOOOOOOO LETS GOOOOOO!!!!! Ekekjedkdk I really enjoyed drawing this!!!! Gidgets cutely kissing his tears because why not😆😆😆 and Genzou is just crying along with him 😭😭😭😭 idk I thought they fit but whatever it sounds dumb when I say it out loud but I’ve already drawn it 😭😭😭 uhmmmmm….if I were to claim this as any firsts…I’d say it’s like my first time properly drawing Orlam?! And also GIDGET with their normal hair down!!!

💕do you do aus for zhar and nik? ever since i learned, what her callsign stands for, i want a supernatural au with them, please! they are cryptids and you cant tell me otherwise! 💕

Lovie, the short answer is: I have not a single idea, how to make a decent AU. I don't understand, how this whole thing works.

However, a few days ago my friends reminded me of this idea, I had a while ago. Consider this one time promotion, but I present you with a shifters!NikxZhar

Summary: they show each other their inhuman forms. This is somewhere between the first and second chapters of Matters, if you need a timeline, so Zhar already has her call sign, works in Chimera and has burn marks. TW: swearing

Masterlist

Shifting is a very intimate moment. It should be kept to the shifter themselves and maybe their closest family. This is the well respected principle among all the shifters, so even in the Task Force they just wrote, what their 'second faces' were on pieces of paper and left those pieces on the desk, so that each of them could read and remember in silence.

Though, of course, Soap couldn't keep his mouth shut.

"Wait, lammer-what? I need to google that thing."

Ghost hissed, gripping Johnny's collar and shaking him vigorously: it was considered inappropriate to comment on others 'second face' - something so personal.

Olga didn't pay any attention - she was happy as long as Nikolai wasn't around, when she had to confess, what exactly she shifts into. Back in that days she didn't trust him even her address. And she couldn't care less for what's his 'second face' was.

That's why now, many years after, she has to guess.

As they walk into the deep forest, both dressed too light for the current weather, as their blood starts running hot in anticipation, she takes a peek at him secretly.

What could this man be?

There are a few factors, that might help to guess shifters 'second face'. First of all - 'second face' would never be a form, originating too far from the place, where the shifter was born. So it is almost impossible to be born for example somewhere around Finland and be shifted into a kangaroo. The next important thing, is that what shifters call 'a second face' is in reality more a second nature - it will affect their preferences in work or their personal traits.

"Any ideas, darling? Wild guesses? If you guess right - I'm the first to show, remember?" Nikolais grin shines in the last rays of dusk and Zhar understands, that her guesses are most likely to be wrong. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so arrogant.

"I need three attempts."

"Take as many as you want, but I'm not that big of a riddle." He stops on the edge of the clearing in the woods and leans against a tall dark pine.

Olga looks around, assessing the place, and turns back to Nikolai. "Ok, my best shot is a magpie or a crow. Someone of the corvidae."

"Because I'm the best pilot, you've ever seen, sokrovishe*?"

"Because you're the smart sneaky scoundrel, willing to steal anything, that is not nailed to the floor... And maybe because of all the flying."

Nik chuckles and shakes his head. "I'm afraid, the sky is my dream in every my form, but never my element. So think bigger."

Zhar tilts her head to the side. "Bigger? A wolf maybe? Statistically speaking, there must be at least one wolf in Prices Task Force and we had none, while I was serving there..."

"O-o-o-oh-h-h-h-h, I adore wolf-shifters. Something in them just makes my heart melt, little lovely puppies... " Nikolai clicks his tongue and leans closer Olga, freezing right above her ear. "But you, little thing, got yourself somebody more... massive, I should say."

"Nik, for fucks sake, I beg you: not a bear," pleads Zhar.

Nikolai looks at her and starts unbuttoning his shirt. Olga opens her mouth, but says nothing and watches him. The moment, that should have become their true bonding, grows so terribly cheesy, that she regrets even agreeing to this all. Not only she has fallen for a Russian guy - she somehow found her self the Russian bear shifter, as if she was aiming for the most cliché man on Earth. Nik breaks the silence with a loud laughter.

"Well, of course, every shifter born in Russia, must be a bear! As if you yourself are the one as well." He tosses his shirt on the bag, they brought with them, cups Zhars face and peppers it with kisses, still laughing. She doesn't react, still looking at him in shock, and he add 'just fucking with you, Nebo, don't you worry'.

"So, I was wrong? Not a bear?"

"No." Nikolai grins and places another kiss, a much longer one on her lips. "Not a bear. But that means, somebody lost and will have to shift first."

His fingers trail down her neck and tug under her sweater. "This will have to go, I guess. Unless I found myself a little mouse-girl..."

Zhar catches his lips: hard to resist him, when her body is boiling with both sides of her nature. Their kiss is full of thirst for each other, hands clutching on clothes, caressing and claiming, their heartbeats grow faster and synchronize. It is much more than a make out session - they open each other up, sharing inhuman warmth, loosing breath in each other. Everything feels much brighter in their state, every touch wakes so much more sensations right now. It feels so good, that Nikolai groans irritated, when Olga break their kiss and whispers 'not here, Nik'.

"Nobody will see you, Nebo. Not a single soul, but me." He tries to bargain for more of her proximity, but Zhar shakes her head.

"You didnt get me. Not here. I need a cliff."

Nikolai freezes. A shadow of concern crosses his gaze. Not every shifter has an equally simple way to change their form. If your 'second face' is a mammal - consider yourself lucky, because you practically can decide, when you shift, because the difference between your two forms is not that big. But in other it takes a great deal of 'motivation' for the shift to happen.

Such shifters often use adrenalin injections to trigger the process, but there are other, more 'traditional' ways.

"You're getting a shot." Nikolai doesn't even ask her - he states a fact. His voice resembles a deep, guttural roar. "This is your first shifting after the injury, I am not letting you do anything careless."

"I've never done this with a shot. Not for a single time! And i'm not starting today." Olga takes off her sweater and unbuckles her belt. They fly to the ground behind Nik. Her usual insecurities and desire to hide her scars are instantly forgotten.

"You are going to get yourself killed!" Nik grabs her arm.

He realizes his mistake too late: shifters get incredibly strong and easily irritated before the change. Zhar yanks her arm out of his grip with such force that she risks dislocating her shoulder joint. He lets her go in fear and she finally turns back.

"You dare to question my 'face'?" Something changes in her voice: it grows raucous, high and strong.

Nikolai takes a step back.

They walk to the cliff in a dead silence. No one breaks it, even when Olga takes off her last bits of clothes.

They stop on a large empty plateau, hanging above the darkening void full of rocks and trees. Zhar stretches her arms and shoulders, when she feels Nikolais hot breath on her back.

"What?" She looks back and meets his gaze: not an angry or menacing, but instead full of care and tenderness.

He walks around her, touches her cheek and kisses her forehead.

"That's all I wanted to let you know, moye Nebo*. I will be right here. Waiting." Niks voice is muffled, if there was any rage in him - he dragged it deep enough to not be shown in any way.

She presses her whole body against his for a moment and sighs. Olga knows, how hard it is for him to let her do, what she is about to do. And yet he strangles his own doubts for her.

Nikolai takes a few steps back, watching her undoing her usual bun. Waves of trembling run down her body, but he knows, that it is not from cold. It is the anticipation.

Zhar closes her eyes, takes a deep breath in and pushes herself ahead from the edge. Her motions are so calm and casual that for a few seconds Nikolai believes that she did not do anything unusual, and throwing herself into a deadly void is not a big deal. And then the chilling realization of what is happening creeps into his soul. His heaven, his beloved girl just jumped off the cliff on his very eyes. He waits for what feels like an eternity, but not a single sound appears in the black seas of tree tops waving on the wind under him. His hands run cold, throat feels dry and soar, heart runs wild. Shifting never takes so much time. Nik stands on the very edge of the plateau and whispers 'come on, come back to me, love, I beg you'.

All of a sudden, a huge black shadow, flies up right before his face so swiftly, that he instinctively covers his face. A magnificent beast of a bird straightenes her wings and lays down on the invisible streams of wind just a few dozens meters above the ground, casting a formidable shadow upon Nik. Cloaked in a tapestry of dusk and dawn, its plumage boasts a palette woven from the shades of twilight - a fusion of russet and amber intermingling with the deep hues of earth and blood.

Nikolai pulls his arm to the side, and calls her to sit on it and give her wings some rest. But she shrieks at him, rising scarlet feathers on her head. Her voice isn't anywhere near soothing bird songs - it is a war cry, a command, that only a fool would dare to disobey. So Nik lowers his hand and nods meekly. In the first minutes after the change, a shifter usually doesn't recognize anyone around. Younger ones need up to a few hours to fully understand, who are they, and what is happening to them.

Nikolai doesn't pressure her into interaction - he just descends to the ground and sits there, letting her circle above him. When she finally lands near him - Nik finally get a chance to see every smallest detail.

It's her eyes, that hypnotize him. They glint like precious gemstones amid the wild expanse, hold a glimmer of some secret knowledge, a silent witness to the untamed symphony of life and death that echo high in the sky.

She leans to the ground, curls up in an unnatural for a bird pose, and Nikolai understands, that she is tired.

"Come here, I'll hold you, my treasure." The bird looks at him attentively for a few long moments and leans her head on his lap.

Shifting back is painful: shivers run through her entire body for a long time after she loses her heathers and bones grow back to a human form. Nik caresses her shoulders and slowly rocks her back and forth to sooth her senses.

When her skin stops running so hot, he wraps her in a blanket they took from home.

"I know, I know: a girl must shift into something sophisticated and pretty. Like a hawk, falcon, or a dove... Not in-"

"You are a work of art. I've never seen anything so majestic. And I've spent quite some time in the skies." Nikolai smiles, looking her in the eyes.

"More majestic than your hellicopter?"

"Just don't tell her." Nikolai winks. "So... a vulture? A magnificent creature. And a fearful one. Dread from the skies."

"Bearded vulture. We look more menacing, than we really are, so don't worry."

"Oh love, you could leave my 'second face' eyeless in a few seconds, if you wanted." At these words of Zhar raises a confused gaze upon him. She wouldn't risk flying low enough to let something 'more massive than a wolf' to catch her.

Nik helps her back into her clothes and carefully kisses her hands, taking in a brief moment of her absolute vulnerability. When she is ready, Nikolai helps her stand and leads her to the nearest tree to lean against.

"You sure, you want to see it today? I can wait as long as you want." He whispers lowly.

"Nikolai, please! I showed you everything, it is only fair-"

"Ok-ok," he chuckles. "Just promise me to be a brave little thing and don't run away. I will be at your feet in any of my forms."

Following him with her gaze, Zhar waits until he disappears far behind the trees and sinks to the ground: the shifting was really hard for her, but she tried to hide it from Nik. Her eyes slowly get used to the dark ambience of the forest, but she notices no movement.

It is only when a few little birds quickly flutter out of the bushes and rush away, Olga finally understands, she is not alone anymore.

The first thing she notices are two eyes, mirroring moonlight. And the height at which these eyes are moving does not bode well for her. He is enormous. His colossal frame emerges from the verdant shadows. A creature of regal splendor, its tawny coat adorned with striking stripes that echoed the forest's secrets.

"Bloody hell..." Her heart skips a beat, and fear courses through her veins. Instinctively, she springs to her feet, pressing her back against the reassuring solidity of the tree. Her pulse quickens, her hand darts to the place, where her holster usually is: a primal response to the raw power embodied in the approaching feline.

The tiger freezes, his giant paw is raised for the next silent step, but remains in the air. He sees, where her hand moved, he undesrtands, what is it, shes seeking. Olga desperately tries to remember, how long ago Nik went away to shift. "10 minutes top. But he's a bloody cat - they need more time to adapt, they are much more wild than us," screams a frightened voice in her head. Before her stands a beast, approximately two hundred kilos of muscles and hunger for blood, and Zhar has nothing to help her escape. She won't even be able to shift once again - she barely stands.

However, to her astonishment, the tiger doesn't bear his teeth or growl menacingly. Instead, he approaches her after the initial pause.

Drawing closer, the tiger halts just a breath away, his golden eyes fixated upon her. But rather than aggression, the tiger displays an unexpected gesture—a subtle tilt of its head, an invitation.

Trepidation mingle with curiosity, and against all instincts, Olga tentatively extends her hand toward the majestic beast, fingers trembling in uncertainty. With tender grace, the tiger nudges his head closer, inviting her touch.

As her fingers brush against the tiger's velvety fur, a thought, not her own, but rather a dictated or a transmitted one, appears somewhere deep in her mind.

"At your feet, love. In any form. Always."

She looks deep into the ferocious predator's eyes and sees the same warmth, she often finds in Nikolais eyes.

Zhar finally gives in to her weariness and sits down, the beast pulls his head closer to her face and sniffs her hair. As gentle as she can, Olga embraces his head and scratches behind his ears. With a rumbling purr akin to a distant thunderstorm, the tiger leans into her touch, seeking more of her attention. Just as Nikolai always does.

I hope you’re doing okay btw also you really do spoil me I went to read that fic for the 4th time (yes fourth in 24 hours haha) and saw that you changed the word apartment to flat when Clara says it - SCREAMING I love that little drabble thingy (idk if that’s the right word) so much!! Don’t stress yourself to write part two or anything only if you want to 🫶 also I was so sad when you know that bit in the show when Missy kisses the doctor and then turns to Clara and is like ‘would you like a welcome package too’ that would have been ultimate Missyclara - apparently Jenna and Michelle were holding hands for the whole scene because Michelle was nervous which is actually adorable considering she plays such an out there character. I am still longing for Missy absolutely driving Clara insane and getting her flustered because Missy knows exactly what buttons to push to evoke a reaction she wants from Clara missyclara ftw

I plan on having the second part being something where missy is a massive tease to clara and the reader both but they're enjoying themselves more than they're willing to let on (also michelle gomez was in chilling adventures of sabrina which was basically netflix's updated version of sabrina the teenage witch and from what I've seen of her in the show she looked amazing. jay had just finished setting up the beach chairs, letting out a groan as he plopped down into one next to you. he turned to look at you, admiring the view of not only the waves crashing against the shore but of course, you. after a while, 4 boys, including jay had ran off somewhere on the beach and ni-ki and jungwon had stayed closer to you guys, building shapes in the sand. after a while, the rest scattered back to you, asking if you had any food. “ jay, didn’t you pack any?” you asked him, standing up from your chair while rummaging through the bags you both brought. “ yeah, there are some snacks in there” he said, running his hand through his hand before dusting off any excess sand from his hands. “ fruit!!” sunoo exclaimed, rushing up to you and in the process, kicking some sand onto you. “ ah sorry noona, i didn’t mean to!” he says, trying to brush the sand off your crossed legs and arms. “ it’s alright sunoo, don’t worry. come, just take some food each and start eating.” you said, placing a hand on sunoo’s back, giving him a comforting smile. he returned the smile and placed some food on his plate. you were watching then scramble to put food before jay snatched you away with a large pout. “ sunoo was totally flirting with you!”

“ this place is so cute..” you mumbled, smiling while looking around at the cafe. you haven’t been to this cafe before so to say that you were shocked with its cosy scenery is an understatement. sunghoon seemed to be just as impressed as you, he just hid it better. you could tell though. the way his eyes sparkled when he looked around and the faint curl on the corner of his lips. after a few short minutes of talking, you were interrupted by a voice, asking if the order he was holding was yours. sunghoon answered and the guy placed the drinks and a small muffin down for the both of you. however, his eyes remained on you while he was putting the drinks, causing him to spill your one by accident, staining part of your dress. you let out a small yelp from the coldness seeping through the cloth, causing the man to rapidly apologise. you waved it off and stood up to go and grab some napkins. after the whole mishap, you had made your way back to the table only to see that he had already gone off. when you had finally settled down, you looked over the table at sunghoon who had a clearly visible frown on his face. reaching over, you pressed down on is eyebrows in attempt to make his frown go away. it slightly faltered.. that was until he say the waiter come over and place down a new one of your drink and a large muffin. “ on the house” he said before walking away. sunghoon rolled his eye and stood up, grabbing your hand and walking out. “ we should've eaten at home. jay’s food is better. “

sunoo groaned, letting his head fall harshly onto the school desk. the small thud made you frown, making you turn your head to see what he it, and only when you saw his head on the table, did your expression soften. rubbing your hand up and down his back, you leaned down to place a small kiss on his cheek. he instantly shot his head u and stared at you with hearts in his eyes. “ i knew that would work” you said with a small smile, chuckling before ruffling his hair, earning a whine from him. the bell for the end of school rang out and everybody rushed out quickly, leaving you, sunoo and another boy alone in the class. lifting your hand off his back, you started packing your work up and helping sunoo after. sunoo stood up, entangling his hand with yours before stumbling towards the door. “y/n! hold on” the guy from in class said, rushing to make his way over to you and sunoo. “ are you busy? would you we able to go out for boba?” he asked you with a sheepish smlle. you turned to look at sunoo who didnt have a single look other than sass on his face. you brushed it off, nodding you head at him. “ yeah, im free. lets go?” you said. “ no, she’s busy.” sunoo said, glaring at him and pulling you towards him before walking away with you.

jungwon finished laying down the picnic mat as you sat down almost instantly. the seemingly dragged on for a long while and you and jungwon decided it would be nice to set up a picnic mat and watch the sunset together. butttt, the closest place you could go was a dog park. not that either of you were complaining! it just wasn’t the most practical place to have a romantic picnic.. you discarded your thoughts and stared at the pretty boy infront of you with a light pink hue across your cheeks. almost instantly, a large pressure was felt on your back, pushing you forward onto the mat. letting out a surprised yelp, you soon figured out that a dog was all over you. you tried to get it away while giggling and playing around with the dog. a figure. could be seen in the distance, running towards you and your boyfriend. “ byeol!! come here” he yelled towards the dog, letting out a huff of relief when he realised you weren’t angry. “ i’m so sorry about that..” he muttered to you, not even glancing at jungwon. you shook it off and nodded with a small smile. “ my dog must’ve taken a liking to you.” he said, running his hands through his hand while chuckling. “ i would too if i was a dog” jungwon spoke, trying to sounds intimidating but failing terrifically. the guy apologised and bowed once again before laughing awkwardly and walking away. way to go jungwon!

“ shhh ni-ki! we’re in public!” you giggled, clinging onto his hand before dragging him to a claw machine. the large arcade was brightly lighted by neon lights in all colours, reflecting off every surface. ni-ki had dragged you to an arcade because he felt as if school work had been overwhelming then both of you and decided to take a break. he was always so considerate with how you were feeling, and if you ever did feel sad, he would always make you forget about whatever it was in an instant. he placed a coin into the large machine and moved the claw around, aiming for a huge teddy. it would’ve had to be the same size as a 6 year old child. he stopped moving and took his hands off the joystick before getting a 360 view around the whole machine before pressing the release button. to your surprise, ( or not ) the claw picked up the bear and dropped it in the slot. a small clapping could be heard from behind you. knowing it wasn’t ni-ki as he was besides you, you turned around and met eyes with an undeniably handsome boy. he stopped clapping and bowed before congratulating you. “ i’ve gotten a teddy too! i was saving it for the prettiest girl i saw here so, here” he explained, handing to you while bowing. your bowed back while ni-ki watched from behind you with a small scoff. you turned to look at your boyfriend with a bright smile, only to be met by a small smile on his lips. he couldn’t deny, he loved your smile so he didn’t mind if somebody else make you happy.

Ive read both his Act 1 and 2 and the way the romance develops between him and Hanako is so precious :sadreach: his childlike personality was endearing from his act 1 itself (I love a man who likes sweets and climbing trees) and I love how fucking petty and cynical he is at times and honestly almost every character I've liked since has had some similarities to Nobu which is embarrassing to admit hshdfjdfjfgg.

there’s also one event that I can’t remember the name of, where he accidentally disrupted a shrine and to placate the god of the shrine Hanako has to find a flower that grows high up on a cliff and offer it at the shrine. she gets the flower, but Nobu realizes where she is and finds her just as she slips off the cliff and catches her and he tells her “I don’t fear the gods or the Buddhas, but the thought of losing you scares me more than anything else” AND I JUST. I CANT. CHARACTERS LIKE THAT ARE SOOOO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>. honestly I dont even think that’s verbatim but this dialogue has lived rent free in my head ever since that event I love him so much

Jasmine giggled. “Well, it is certainly us.”

“So, what do you say?”

“Ok. We can get married on Coogee beach.”

“Zelda, what was the thought process behind this hairstyle?” Esme asked, motioning to Zelda’s space buns as she sat down next to her friend.

“Simple. My hair isn’t in my face when we are running around the airport.”

“But…you look like a child.”

“That I do. But it’s worth it for comfort.”

“Oh, come on, Esme, her hair is cute. I wish my hair would stay in buns like that,” Yuna commented as she shoved her carry-on in its compartment.

Zelda laughed. “I’m glad someone likes it.”

“It’s going to be odd to be landing somewhere that it’s sunny,” Rosaelia commented as she sat down.

“You’re telling me. We had a foot and a half of snow in Chicago when I left last week,” Zelda replied.

“About forty-six.”

Tae ended up being the one to pick the four of them up from the airport. He gave them a cheeky grin as he abandoned his seat and stepped out of the car.

“I think I’m gonna need some help fitting all of those bags into the back of the car,” he laughed.

“Sorry. I overpacked,” Rosaelia admitted as she dragged her three bags up to the back of the car.

“Oh, we never would’ve guessed,” Esme rolled her eyes playfully.

Once the bags had all found a place in the back and everyone was piled into the car, they were off.

“How have you all been?” Tae asked.

“Busy,” Rosaelia replied.

“Bored,” Yuna admitted.

“I’ve been fine,” Esme informed him.

Tae glanced at Zelda.

“You know how I’ve been.”

He grinned. “Did any of you hear about what happened in England last month?”

That caught everyone’s attention.

“No? What happened?” Esme asked.

Tae leaned back in his chair as they stopped at a light. “Nothing much. Jimin just tripped a waiter when we were at a restaurant. Ruined a girl’s dress.”

“Are you supposed to be telling us this?” Rosaelia’s brow crumpled.

“Sure. Who else would I tell? We all know the media would go absolutely bonkers if they found out he was within five meters of a girl.”

“Dang right they would,” Rosaelia rolled her eyes. “Those people need to stop living off of gossip.”

That evening, everyone headed to Jasmine’s aunt’s house for dinner. She and Jasmine’s mother were cooking. Everyone had managed to cram into two cars to head over. Besides Jungkook, who no one had been able to find since everyone had gotten into town.

“He said he’s fine, and he’s got his bodyguards with him, so I think he’s ok,” Namjoon commented as he checked his phone.

“No one knows where he went?” Esme asked.

“Not that I know of.”

“That’s a little weird,” she furrowed her brow.

“I’m sure he’s fine,” Tae butted in. “He just has something to do before dinner.”

“And do you know something about this?” Esme asked.

“What? Nope. I know nothing.”

Esme side-eyed him, and Tae gave her an innocent smile.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at Jasmine’s aunt’s house, and Jasmine was excitedly standing on the porch to greet everyone. Tae slipped out of the car before anymore questions could be shot at him, and Zelda was quick to follow.

“Jimin, do you know where Jungkook is?” Esme asked.

“Nope. I thought we’d see him at the hotel.”

“Hmm.”

Esme asked around once they got inside, and no one had any clue where Jungkook was. Yoongi hadn’t even known he wasn’t in the other car, which was a surprise. Yoongi was generally the one who Jungkook told anything, so the fact that Yoongi knew nothing was odd.

Esme entered the kitchen to find Jin, a young man, and two older women running around the kitchen.

“Oh, hey, Ese! Glad to see you got in safely!” Jin greeted as he sauteed some vegetables.

“Do you know where Jungkook is? No one seems to know where he is. Well, except Tae, and he won’t tell us what’s going on.”

“Ah. That’s a secret.”

“You know where he is?”

“Well, not exactly. I have a brief idea of what he’s doing, but I’m not really sure. He’ll be here soon.”

Esme clicked her tongue. “All right. Guess we’ll just wait for him to show up.”

Jungkook finally made an appearance right before dinner was ready…with a girl. Jasmine greeted both of them before leading them inside. The room went dead silent when everyone saw the girl standing next to Jungkook.

“Everyone, this is Astrid. She’s my girlfriend.”

“I knew it!” Tae exclaimed. “This is why you didn’t want me telling everyone you were going to the airport!”

“Tae,” Zelda nudged him. “Were we supposed to know you knew that?”

“It’s fine,” Jungkook laughed. “I just needed him to keep quiet until we got here.”

The girls were all quick to introduce themselves to Astrid, and then it was time for dinner.

“Where has Jungkook been hiding you?” Esme asked Astrid.

Astrid laughed. “Me? He’s been hiding me in France, I suppose.”

“France? You’re from France?” Zelda exclaimed. “That’s awesome!”

“You’re from America, right?”

Zelda nodded. “Born and raised.”

“And you,” Astrid nodded towards Esme. “England?”

“That’s right!” Esme agreed.

“Ohh, Tae?” Zelda turned toward her fiancé.

“Yes?”

“Astrid is my roommate?”

“Yep.”

“Ah. Ok, this explains a lot.”

“Hey! This isn’t fair! You get to know her before the rest of us do?” Esme frowned.

Astrid laughed. “If you feel left out, you can always join us. If that’s ok with Zelda, anyways.”

“I haven’t had a sleepover in years! It sounds awesome!” Zelda grinned.

“Honestly, I never expected to be in Australia. Especially not for a wedding,” Astrid admitted. “And we shouldn’t have let her send us home with all these baked goods. I’m going to get fat.”

Zelda laughed. “Honestly, I was hoping they’d get married here, but I wasn’t going to give my opinion. So, how’d you and Jungkook meet?”

“You’re going to laugh.”

“It can’t be as bad as how Tae and I met.”

Astrid raised an eyebrow. “I was walking – or, running, I guess – out of a coffee shop, and ran straight into him. He replaced my coffee, and I thought that was the end of it. And then, it happened againthe next day! He gave me a napkin with his number on it before he left. We started talking, and after a few months we decided we were meant for each other.”

Zelda smiled. “That’s cute.”

“What about you and Tae?”

Zelda groaned. “Ok, so my best friend is a singer, and she invited me to go to the Grammys with her. At some point, I realized he was staring at me.”

Astrid gasped. “No! Not staring!”

Zelda laughed. “After that day, my best friend kept asking if I liked him or something. I didn’t. Eventually, she tricked me into meeting him again because they shot a music video with her. He and I started talking, and I guess it got a bit personal. We didn’t see each other for months after that, though. My friend invited me to a party they had after their concert, and he finally asked for my number. We’ve been together since.”

Astrid smiled. “Well, I feel like that’s a bit more realistic way to fall in love. Over time.”

Zelda flushed. “If I’m being honest, I stalked him for months on Instagram before we even talked the second time.”

“Well, you gotta do your research before dating a rich, famous guy.”

“Touché.”

“Hey, do you think Esme would want to head down to the beach?”

“That depends entirely on whether or not she’s spending time with Namjoon.”

“Doesn’t hurt to ask, right?”

“Hey! I did not agree to having a pillow fight!” Jimin exclaimed as Tae assaulted him with a pillow multiple time.

Tae grinned for the split second before Jungkook smacked him in the head with a pillow, causing him to fall flat on his back.

“Please. I’d quite enjoy spending the night with her,” Tae smirked as he sat up slightly and leaned against his hand.

Jimin rolled his eyes. “You should’ve shared a hotel room with her, then.”

“She said no,” Tae grumbled.

“Guess you’re stuck watching anime with us then,” Jungkook grinned as he tossed his pillow back on the bed.

“Great.”

“Hey, cheer up. It’s only two more nights. Then we can all do whatever we please.”

“Oh, that makes me so happy,” Tae replied sarcastically as he leaned against Jungkook’s shoulder. “Fine. How many more caramel tarts do we have?”

The next day was Valentine’s Day, so mostly everyone split up to spend the day with their significant other. Except Jimin, who decided to tour on his own since he had no one to spend the day with.

“Yoongs, did you see these dresses?” Rosaelia asked as she held one of them up in front of her. “I’ve never seen a pattern like this before! I love it! We have to get these!”

“Try them on. I’d like to see what they look like.”

Rosaelia smiled, heading to find a dressing room so that she could try the dresses on.

“Ok, what do we think about this one?” she asked, stepping out of the dressing room and spinning around in the dress.

Yoongi smiled. “You look great in it!”

“Awesome! Should I try on the two-piece?”

He nodded. She returned to the dressing room and emerged in the other dress a minute later.

“I might have to resize the top if we buy it,” she muttered, tugging it up. “It’s a bit loose.”

“It’s pretty, though. If you think you could fix it, you should get it.”

“Should I?” she smiled. “It is pretty. You’re right. I should get this one, too.”

“Now can we go to lunch?” he pleaded.

“Yes, my starving husband, we can go to lunch.”

“I think you should try this one,” Esme said, holding up the mini cupcake.

Namjoon took a bite of it cautiously, chewing for a few seconds before swallowing. “Eh. Not the best one we’ve tried.”

“Ok, well, they’re getting progressively worse!”

Esme laughed. “Ok, I’ll admit the banana didn’t go with the cashew. Not really sure what they were trying to do there.”

“Eugh. That wasn’t nearly as bad as the blueberry and chocolate.”

“Yeah, I really thought that one would be a lot better than it was.”

“We’re not doing cupcake tasting next year for Valentine’s Day.”

“Deal,” Esme nodded.

“Hey, you’ve got something on your lip there,” Namjoon muttered, leaning down.

“What is i-”

Esme was cut off by Namjoon pressing a kiss into her lips.

“My lips,” he grinned.

“Ah. Of course. Still a flirt after nearly nine years.”

Yuna stepped out onto the balcony. Hobi was leaning on the railing, staring out at the ocean.

“Hey, you should put your swimsuit on. Let’s head down to the beach.”

“What? Hanging out in the hotel isn’t good enough for you?” Hobi smiled at her.

“I want to swim,” she frowned. “Come on,” she tugged on his sleeve. “Let’s go. We won’t be able to swim once we’re back in Korea.”

“Ok! Let’s go get ready.”

They found themselves walking along the beach fifteen minutes later as the sun began to disappear behind the city. Hobi reached down, intertwining his fingers with Yuna’s.

“You know, it feels nice out here. It’s warm,” Yuna smiled as she dug her toe into the sand momentarily.

“Yeah. Nice change from Seoul at the moment,” Hobi laughed.

“It’s nice to have a break from wedding planning,” Yuna admitted.

Hobi let out a gentle ‘ha!’. “I agree. Tae and Zelda need to wait a little while longer until they get married.”

“Oh, cause December isn’t far away enough from now.”

Hobi chuckled. “No, it’s too close. I don’t want to see another tuxedo for at least two years after tomorrow.”

“Wow. You’re that tuxedoed out?”

“Definitely.”

Yuna laughed. “We should go swim.”

“But then we’ll have to shower!”

“But if we don’t swim, then we put our swimsuits on for no reason.”

“That’s true.”

“Come on,” she grinned, dragging him down to the water.

The two of them splashed around a bit, wading father out into the water.

“Ok, I’m not going out any farther,” Yuna giggled as she ran her hands through the water. It had risen above her waist now

Hobi sighed and wrapped his arms around her waist before staring up at the sky.

“Hey, you can see some stars.”

Yuna followed his gaze, smiling as she saw the stars.

“Wow, I don’t recognize any of these.”

“Yeah, me neither. I wonder which ones make constellations.”

Yuna smiled, turning her attention back to his face. The moonlight was reflecting on his face now that the sun had fully set. She reached up, wrapping one arm around his neck before laying her other hand against his cheek. He looked down at her then.

“You’re so beautiful. You know that?” she murmured.

He stayed silent, but a shy smile creeped onto his face. She ran her fingers over the short hair at the nape of his neck. A few moments later, she pulled herself up so that she could meet his lips. His eyes fell shut, reveling in the kiss for the few moments before she pulled away.

“Is there anything you’d like to do tonight?” she asked quietly.

Jasmine rolled over in bed as she heard a knock on the door.

“Hey, Jasmine? You need to wake up. Your wedding starts in two hours.”

Who was at the door? What time was it, even? Jasmine squinted at the clock. Oh, wow. It was ten already. She sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes as she yawned.

“Jasmine?”

“Coming!”

She pulled the door open a moment later to find Zelda standing at the door.

“I was voted as your wake-up knock this morning,” Zelda smiled. She held up a bag. “And I brought you breakfast.”

“Oh, Zelda, you’re a darling! Come in. I need to get changed really quick before we go.”

Zelda stepped inside, closing the door behind her as Jasmine dug through her suitcase.

“Is Astrid awake?” Jasmine asked.

“Barely. She’s probably fallen asleep. We were up pretty late last night with the guys.”

Jasmine laughed. “We really should’ve scheduled the wedding for tomorrow.”

Zelda grinned. “Did you and Jin do anything yesterday?”

“Oh, yeah. Lots. I showed him around the city, and then we got dinner at this fancy sushi place. It was a lot of fun. What about you and Tae?”

“We went to the beach for the whole morning. You can probably tell. I’m a bit pink. Then we did some window shopping. We spent most of the afternoon sleeping, though. And then we went out with Jungkook and Astrid for dinner.”

“That sounds awesome.” Jasmine reappeared, tugging one of her socks on. “We need to get going. You might want to wake Astrid. Don’t want her to miss the wedding.”

Zelda handed Jasmine her breakfast. “I’ll go get her. Meet me downstairs in ten minutes?”

At the venue, the girls were introduced to Jasmine’s other two bridesmaids. Then, it was time to get ready.

“Does anyone want caramel slices? My mom made them for us to snack on while we get ready,” Gabby, Jasmine’s cousin announced.

“You know, Astrid said that these are going to make her fat, but I’ll gladly gain weight to eat these!” Zelda exclaimed as she took three caramel slices.

“I need me about ten of those,” Jasmine informed everyone before taking five for herself.

Zelda and Yuna worked together to tie up Jasmine’s hair, which was quite the task with the texture of Jasmine’s hair. Soon enough, everyone was ready to go, and Jasmine was practically buzzing with excitement.

“I think you’re the first bride I’ve seen who wasn’t extremely nervous,” Yuna commented.

“I’ve waited for this day since I was fourteen. There’s nothing to be nervous about. Just excitement,” Jasmine grinned. “Heck, I could’ve gotten married in my pajamas and have been happy.”

“Let’s be honest, Jin would’ve agreed to that,” Esme laughed.

The ceremony was far longer than had been intended. Jasmine and Jin had both cried so much that they had had trouble getting through their vows, and then their tiny ring bearer had decided he didn’t want to give them their rings.

Eventually, they made it to their reception. The dancing tuckered everyone out, and they were beyond ready to eat. Jasmine’s best friend, Olivia, was eager to give her speech.

“Everyday that Jasmine mentions Jin, I laugh when I think about how they met. I just can’t imagine meeting my high school crush all these years later – in a concert venue, of all places! – and rekindling that relationship. You two will always amaze me. I hope for a love story as grand as yours.”

After Jungkook had given his best man speech, everyone dug into their dinner.

Once Jin and Jasmine had successfully escaped their family and friends, they headed to their hotel.

“I’m thinking we should go swimming tonight. Spend our night on the beach. What do you think?” Jasmine asked as she pulled all of her hair pins out.

“You’re kidding, right?”

“Yes, I’m kidding.”

“Does that mean I can help you out of this dress?” he asked, leaning over her shoulder to meet her gaze in the mirror as he rested his hands on her hips.

“Oh, you’d like to help me with that, would you?” she glanced up at him. She brushed her finger under his chin, grasping it ever so lightly. “You’re too impatient.”

He laughed, leaning down to press a kiss into her lips. “I am not,” he muttered.
