ur glee au... oooooooh, the thoughts are thinking...
now i have to know what songs everyone sings and what they sound like!!!! i personally think emma frost would sound like holly and sing turning tables (i know she wasnt in the og post but i know it in my heart this is her), and then scott is totally finn singing losing my religion. and all of the boys can sing man in the mirror (such an underrated performance, again scott is finn).
i literally cant believe this hasnt been done before. youve just opened a realm of possiblities for shitposts.
Ahh, this is a lot of fun. I just had to answer this one right away. Let’s see.
Warning: this is a very long post. If you don’t know anything about Glee, it might not make sense. I didn’t include every single X-Men, as I can’t really imagine what they’d sound like. If you come in here and say, “where’s (blank),” I will put thumbtacks in your shoes.
If you have your own ideas, I’d love to hear them.
I feel like this goes without saying, but this is only focusing on the voices and performances, not the characters themselves. There would be some crazy comparisons, if that were the case.
I can see Emma sounding like Holly. If she was in Glee, she’d probably be a Cheerio, or a substitute teacher like Holly. Turning Tables is a good fit for Emma (definitely singing it about Scott or something like that). I can also hear her as Cassandra’s voice. She’d kill the Americano/Dance Again cover.
Yeah, I imagined Scott sounding like Finn, or maybe Blaine (only for his Cough Syrup performance, which I think fit Scott). I mostly imagine Finn because Jean probably sounds like Rachel, and Rachel always overpowers Finn in duets. That makes sense for Scott and Jean.
Following that line of thought, Jean’s song is definitely It’s All Coming Back To Me Now. But actually… Jean could also have that slow jam voice that Shelby has (Jean sounding like Elsa from Frozen is so funny to me). I just think I Dreamed a Dream fits Jean’s character so well. And also, Shelby ate Rachel up in Poker Face. Not my favorite cover from Glee at all, but Shelby sounded nice in it.
Warren would definitely be a Warbler. Hunter’s voice is very underrated, and I can see him doing Live While We’re Young. This may be controversial, but I actually kind of enjoyed the Whistle cover. It’s fun. Warren could pull it off. I can also hear him sounding like Elliott in my head. I never thought I’d hear Adam Lambert sing Marry The Night, but here we are.
Bobby probably wouldn’t be a Warbler, but I think Skylar’s voice matches him a lot. He’d have that bit of texture around the edges. My Sharona isn’t a favorite song of mine, but the energy has Bobby written all over it.
Okay, another Warbler one, I know, but a small part of me can hear Hank sounding like Sebastian (obviously, their characters aren’t anything alike). Part of me imagines Hank having a surprisingly soft voice, and Sebastian’s Want You Back performance is actually kinda good. But I’m going back and forth on it. I can can also hear him as Cooper Anderson. I think if we go with Blaine for Scott instead of Finn, he would do a great job duetting with Hank in Somebody That I Used To Know (one of Glee’s best covers, in my opinion).
Storm is 100% Jane. I can see her having a smooth voice that can easily fluctuate between soft and powerful, and Jane fits that so well. I don’t know why, but I like Glee’s Rather Be performance. I think it fits Storm a lot. That being said, she definitely pulls out the Tightrope performance at some point. She deserves it, it’s so good.
This might be favoritism, because Roderick is probably my top singer from Glee, but I think his Mustang Sally performance fits Gambit a lot. I really wish Roderick (and all of the season 6 kids) got more performances. I think Gambit would have a bit of that powerful soul sound and texture to his voice. And then he can sing Take Me To Church with Rogue as the harmony.
You know, Rogue can go a couple of different directions. I can actually see her being Quinn in Unpretty or Bree in Nasty, but maybe with a bit more twang. She’s a Cheerio in my head because Magneto would 100% send her to spy on Glee Club.
Kitty probably sounds like… Kitty. Maybe she’d do Everybody Talks with Piotr, who I’m back and forth on for sounding like Jake (if you can see the vision, Piotr would kill Jake’s Let Me Love You cover). But I can also see her being Britney in Me Against the Music, with Illyana as Santana. I can see Illyana sound like Santana, but also…
… Follow me with this. I feel like Illyana would be one of the top singers. She’d probably hide it, but she has a voice of an angel. And for that, she sounds like Mercedes in my head. I just think she has the ability to pull off that gospel sound and just chooses not to. Kitty would probably walk in on her singing And I Will Always Love You and be like, “bitch, you gotta join Glee club.” She’d kill Bust Your Windows, too. I just think Illyana has a lot of energy and power behind her voice.
I’m torn with Kurt. He could totally pull off Bryan Ryan in Piano Man or Dream On (it’s just someone has to be cursed with sounding like Will Schuester), but I kind of imagine him as Artie, too. If we go that gospel sound for Kurt that Artie has, I think he’d do something sweet like Isn’t She Lovely. But then he could be Rory in I Wanna Go Home. I feel like Kurt could hit some high notes. And he’s also a Cheerio at some point. Wanda convinced him.
Betsy is Santana. I will not elaborate. She just is. Betsy auditions with This Girl Is On Fire and kills it. She’d probably be a Cheerio at some point, too. And she can sing Smooth Criminal with Warren as Sebastian. Objectively one of the best Glee covers.
Jubilee… if she isn’t a joke character like Sugar, then I can actually imagine her sounding like Dani (yes, you heard that right, Jubilee sounds like Demi Lovato in my head… I just think her voice would be very textured). Jubilee would sound so sweet singing Here Comes the Sun with someone like Storm.
Kind of out of nowhere; Sue Sylvester’s Vogue performance reminds me of Moira. I can see Moira filling Ms. Pillsbury role in Glee, but her singing voice sounds like Sue in my head.
Okay, Wanda is either Madison or Tina. I think Madison fits very well, and she can even sing Come Sail Away with Pietro. But she might have a bit of that texture that Tina has. Her song would probably be Because You Loved Me if that were the case. Wither way, she’s 100% a Cheerio, since Magneto runs the cheer team.
Lorna has 2 different voices in my head. Like Wanda, I can see her sounding like Madison, but I kind of think she’d be great at ballads like Sunshine. She’d kill All By Myself, and then have a fun duet with someone in Telephone (maybe Wanda as Rachel, but let’s be for real, Sunshine ate Rachel up in Telephone). Sunshine just sounded so great.
Pietro in my head sounds like Mason. I’m not a bit Pietro fan, but I’ll bless him with the amazing performance of I Want To Break Free. You’re welcome, Pietro fans.
That’s all I can think of. Again, I’d love to hear your own thoughts.

Review: The Wichita Train Whistle Sings (1968)
We must begin with this excerpt from the album’s Wikipedia page:
“The album was made over a two-day session on November 18–19, 1967 at the RCA studios in Hollywood, and it featured the best musicians in Hollywood… including ten trumpets, ten trombones, ten saxophones, two drummers, five percussionists, four pianos, eight basses, seven guitars. Because it was the weekend, all musicians were paid double time and the session was catered by Chasens, the finest restaurant in Hollywood, and Nesmith provided an open bar, with the predictable result that most of the normally highly disciplined cadre of studio musicians were drunk by the time the session finished. It all cost $50,000. Nesmith explained to Hal Blaine that he was about to pay a similar sum in tax and he would rather spend it on the sessions and write it off than give it to the IRS.”
(Note: $50,000 in 1968 is worth upwards of $450,000 today. And that is not how tax write offs work? Maybe I'm betraying my line of work here but the things I would do to look at his bookkeeping files... ugh!)
This album is an instrumental orchestral recording of many of Mike’s early songs. Highlights include Carlisle Wheeling (the best example of this album being done right), Tapioca Tundra (if you thought the Monkees version was epic, imagine it with a full orchestra - it’s truly on another level), and You Just May Be The One (a very funky and fresh military parade inspired score - it may not be for everyone but it blew my mind a little bit so I love it).
Favorite parts of the album:
It’s very clear that this was something Mike wanted to do and for that I am fond of it. He really wanted to appeal to a broad audience, and believed that incorporating many musical genres would bring people of all backgrounds and interests together (whether or not a full orchestra melded well with electric guitars and a twanging banjo is another question.) With the exception of some co-author writing credits, Mike wrote and arranged the whole thing. When he re-released it onto CD, it was recorded from vinyl, to retain the original quality which is a brilliant touch and I think it is worth more than if it had been remastered to keep up with the times.
Critiques:
This is what happens when you give a 25 year old with big ideas unlimited fame and fortune and a plethora of yes-men who want to make a buck off of him. These were studio musicians, so they were very skilled and I’m sure professional, but the downside to studio musicians is that they don’t have the inherent group sound that a full-time band would have. Mike at this time was not a good enough producer to know what to look for and how to direct a group – I think if there had been someone like the Beatles’ George Martin hanging around, not afraid to push for quality, it would have been a very different album. That aside, there are some parts where the “vocal track” does not translate well into a single instrument affair (note the trumpets in Nine Times Blue which become repetitive.) Additionally, Mike betrays his true hippie nature by believing that an orchestra enthusiast will not be offended by a lively banjo solo, or that a folkie would pick this up just because their favorite picker was on board. Sometimes, genres do exist for a reason.
Conclusion:
Overall, you shouldn’t skip listening to this one, but I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t revisit often. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the concept, I love the instrumental takes he added to later albums, and I wish he had released more in the same vein, but these are still gems.

Glee cast sings The Fame by Lady Gaga
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Made some threads on twitter, will post them here and talk about it endlessly since there’s no character limit here, I think
Just Dance feat. Colby O’Donis sung by Artie, Puck and Sam in “Prom Queen”
-I’m 70% confident Kevin mentioned they were going to sing this in a mash-up with Dj Got Us Fallin’ in Love, Puck and Sam’s country voices worked a lot in Friday so I think they would do something interesting with Just Dance, maybe not something everyone would like but I’m ver curious about it, no doubts Artie would slay the rapping.
LoveGame sung by Brittany and Quinn
-I can’t imagine a scene or episode where this could happen, maybe a cheerios practice in season 2, I thought about including Santana but I don’t think her voice would fit, I also ultimately wanted it to be a Fierce duet as their friendship was barely explored in glee.
Paparazzi sung by Rachel and Shelby in “Theatricality”
-I absolutely hate Poker Face gcv, it’s terrible, and the worse part: it’s sung by Lea and Idina, they are SO GOOD, and they would do such a good job, anyways, if they still wanted to do something slower and more broadway-y I think Paparazzi would be the fit, the song is very dramatic after all.
Poker Face sung by Santana Lopez
-editing this part, while I’d love a Tincedes duet, this song talks about having sex with men but thinking about woman, like, for real, she’s the one that has to sing this song, I feel dumb for not doing this earlier but oh well, plus, her voice would fit better in my opinion
I Like It Rough sung by Santana Lopez in “Laryngitis”
-I can totally picture her singing this to Puck in the glee club, he would be smirking since the song is mildly dirty which would make Mercedes jealous and therefore would give birth to The Boy is Mine, this would also be her first solo on the show so.
Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) sung by Quinn Fabray in season 2
-I believe she could’ve sung this after Sam broke up with her and started dating Santana, the song is very slow, kind of like a ballad so I think it would fit Quinn’s more softer voice.
Starstruck feat. Flo Rida & Space Cowboy sung by Artie and Brittany in “Blame It On the Alcohol”
-honestly I can’t exactly picture a scene where this could happen, maaaybe a karaoke sort of scene where both of them are singing? I don’t know, all I know is that Gaga in this song sounds a lot like Heather Morris to me.
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich sung by Sugar Motta
-this could take place later in season 3 or in season 4 if they created a storyline where Sugar could sing, while not being the best singer, Vanessa Lengies can sing, and if I’m being honest, beautiful, dirty and rich describes Sugar very well.
The Fame sung by Blaine Anderson with the Warblers in season 2
-one of the infinite season 2 Blaine solos, not the biggest fan of acapella music but the warblers do it decently and I can almost listen to the warblers doing some “ding-ding-dee” in replace of the guitar in the beginning of the song.
Money Honey sung by Brittany, Kitty, Marley, Sugar, Tina and Unique in “Naked”
-the original episode focuses a lot on Rachel and the glee boys, honestly I don’t even remember if Brittany or Marley have lines this episode, either way, Wannabe and I Love It are very good and fun numbers so I’d love to see them perform this, I’d specially like to see Sugar singing the line “That's M-O-N-E-why so sexy?”.
Boys Boys Boys sung by Kurt Hummel in late season 2
-Kurt is hot, that’s true, he’s attractive, and even if a lot of guys weren’t romantically or sexually attracted to him, all of them liked Kurt, and Kurt deserved a song to show how awesome he was, this is it, instead of singing “Boys, Boys, Boys, we love them” as in Kurt’s attraction towards men, it would be “Boys, Boys, Boys, we love them” as in all of the boys happy that the awesome Kurt is back, and of course Kurt would be the only one actually singing, that’s Kurt “I’m singing a duet with the most talented person in the club … myself” Hummel after all.
Paper Gangsta sung by Quinn, Rachel and Santana
-unlike the previous description which in normal size characters was 11 lines long, I have no idea where or how this would take place, all I say is: their voices fit the song, specially Quinn’s.
Brown Eyes sung by Mike Chang in season 4
-I actually wanted Tina to sing this as her ballads are very good, but re-reading the lyrics (as well as literally the title of the song) Mike would be the perfect choice lyrics wise, brown eyes being Tina’s insecurity is so random but it’s an characteristic of her that I like, we never got an answer on why they broke up, it’s something I wanted to know very bad cause they seemed to be a very understanding couple regarding problems, and on top of that, just give Mike songs, seriously his last song was in season 4 episode 8, he appears in 10 episodes after this and not even a line in a group number? C’mon.
Summerboy sung by Kitty and Marley in early season 4
-I can see Kitty wanting to perform with Marley because “they’re friends” (or both dating Puckerman’s in this weird timeline where Noah “I like moms” Puckerman dated a sophomore) anyway, she doesn’t like Marley yet, she just wants Jake back and a reason to call Marley obese or something.
Disco Heaven sung by Brittany, Mercedes and Santana in season 3
-In my original thread I wrote this as a sancedes duet in laryngitis, and… it doesn’t make a lot of sense, their voices would do a good job but lyric wise it doesn’t relate? Personally, throw Brittany in the mix as a Trouble Tones number and boom, maybe this could take place in an alternate Saturday night glee-ver where after Mr Schue ask why they chose this song over any other from the movie Brittany would say: “I chose this cause I want to go to disco Heaven when I die not disco inferno”.
Again Again sung by Marley Rose in season 5
-hey so this song is a bonus track from the album that is not featured in the playlist at the beginning, so in order to hear it you’ll need to access YouTube cause it’s also not on Spotify. Back to the song, this could take place when Marley is suspecting that Jake might be cheating on her, music could end with idk Unique and Kitty hugging her.
Retro, Dance, Freak sung by Harmony
-also a bonus track that’s actually featured in the fame monster album, okay so… this song is very boring… like really boring… the only reason I chose Harmony for this was because it kind of sounds like her, literally because this song is fucking boring and I can’t think of someone else that could sing this.
Bonus: songs that aren’t from the album but are from the same era
Vanity sung by Rachel Berry in season 1
-this is such a Rachel coded song, I can totally picture her singing this at one point in the first season, maybe start as her singing at the auditorium following her to the hallways until she gets slushied, funny honestly since the song is about glamour and being famous.
Christmas Tree feat. Space Cowboy sung by Artie and Sugar
-I’m convinced every artist has a song that it’s absolutely terrible, for Katy Perry is Peacock, for Avril Lavigne is that cover of O Holy Night, for Gaga is this one, I have yet to hear something so terrible, literally sat down and felt like grinch, I would have Sugar sung this terribly in the episode and slightly better in the studio version cause even tho Vanessa Lengies can sing no one can sing this song and be good.
Fashion sung by Kurt and Tina in “Theatricality”
-rise animation meme fuckers, tbh I was very surprised a gaga song became an animation meme, I was even more surprised to know that the song was going to be featured in the sex and the city movie but got scrapped, anyway, the episode with Tina needing to find a new look, who better to help her than Kurt? This would look kind of like Diva in season 4 with Kurt and Tina cat walking and later Mercedes, Quinn, Brittany, Santana and Rachel would join.
And that’s it, an entire album with 14 songs, 3 bonus tracks and 3 other songs from the same era was covered, if you like it please share your opinion, if you didn’t please share as well, the next album will be The Fame Monster, that, due to the shorter numbers of songs it shouldn’t take long for me to post it, bye :)

I had always hoped the Glee writers didn’t actually do that, as it just seems there would be much better ways to handle conflicts!
If there's one big take away from what I have listened to of Kevin and Jenna's podcast, it's that the creators didn't have a good handle on what they were doing. And that there should have been better mental health care available to them.
Ryan Murphy, in particular, seems like a very stubborn and single-minded type of guy. And, honestly, based on some of his interactions with fandom, a little petty, too. And I can only imagine that his way of pushing back, sometimes, is doing what writers do -- and put it in the script.
That said, I don't think he's responsible for some of the more uncomfortable things on the show.
Ian Brennan had a particularly mean spirited sense of humor. He was always doing the Sue rants. And some of his scripts were the ones that often had the more hard-hitting commentary. I don't even think he was doing it to be mean, necessarily, I think he was doing it because he honestly thought it was funny.
And yes, there are much better ways to handle conflicts! But between writers/showrunners who had no idea what they were doing, really, and a big cast of young people discovering and navigating fame, it doesn't surprise me there were issues.
That said -- I don't think it was as toxic as people make it out to be. The long and the short of it was that Glee was a TOUGH show to make. It's not just reciting lines, etc. There's song, dance, all sorts of physical activity. Plus, the show did not get time off for three years straight because of the tours. It's not surprising that they (cast and crew) were mentally exhausted after it. It was A LOT. And sometimes in those situations -- even between people who do like each other, you get a bit punchy.
I'll also say, something I forgot in my other message, one reason Kurt got less screen time in Season 4 is (rumored, but I'd bet you a million dollars) that Chris wanted to step back a little. It was a way the show could give him a break. Also -- I know people gripe about Kurt and Blaine not getting solos in Season 6, it was said at the time that they asked not to have to do it. In fact, most of the main cast, except Rachel, has less singing time, probably because that mean less time you had to be on set and doing all that work.
So yeah, there were definitely bad, petty, unfortunate things coming out of the writing. (and yeah, I highly doubt Chris will ever want to go near Ryan Murphy again based on his reactions post-Glee when discussing the show.) But I also won't discredit all the good things that happened, too.

If you have time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey Jenny! I hope you are fine:) and thanks for asking. This is an interesting question which I never though about. I love Kurt canonically but I love writing for both Blaine and Kurt. Let's see. I don't even remember their lines. I have to google now:).
Kurt:
1. Of course, Burt and Kurt moments. Enough said. I always wanted to talk like this with my parents so I pour all my imagination conversations into fanfics.
2. "I wasn't honest about who I was."
I interpret it this way. Kurt keeps hiding things till it comes to boiling point if it makes sense. I mean he's out and proud. But it takes time for him to acknowledge that he's hurt or he's hiding something(that's why I am thinking of a vampire fic? I have time🤷‍♀️)
3.The conversations that happened between s5 klaine like when Blaine moved out with Sam or the insecurity talks.
Blaine:
1."Do you think my dad built a car with me because he loves cars? I think he did it because he thought getting my hands dirty might make me straight." I used this premise in one of my multi chap fic(Living Haphazard)
2."It knew that our hands were meant to hold each other's, fearlessly and forever, which is why it's never really felt like I've been getting to know you, it's always felt like I was remembering you from something. As if in every lifetime you and I have lived, we've chosen to come back and find each other and fall in love all over again, over and over for all eternity. And I just feel so lucky that I found you so soon in this lifetime because all I want to do, all I've ever wanted to do is spend my life loving you."
This. Basically explains lovey dovey Blaine;)
3.I love Blaine singing to Kurt. The scene when Kurt comes in smiling when Blaine sings "all of me" just stands in my eyes still. I just want to serenade him without any upcoming fights or ongoing ones.
Thank you once again @1908jmd.

Am I the only one who thinks they padded glee a lot? I just rewatched and it seems like a lot of the content was throw away bits. Storylines that started or were hinted at and went nowhere. Also they kept Rachel getting solos but they could of fixed it easy and had fun on show in two ways 1) they said in season one they need to qualify to get into completion yet it never appeared right? They could of used that so others can sing it wouldn’t of taken much time it’s like 3-6 minutes for a song and 2) they could of had storylines of them having practice conceptions it could of made them compatible against each other and cause rifts etc in a organic way while being wacky ( can you imagine them on a road trip 😂😂😂😂)
Goddamm I need to get to older asks, okay so.
I don’t know, I don’t think it was padded too much? The format landed itself for smaller storylines so that wasn’t inherently the problem, just the inconsistency imo. Like, season 3A is PACKED but that’s not the issue, it’s that they did none of the storylines well and the vast majority of arcs are finished within those 8 episodes. Glee really should have just perfected the assignment of the week formula with consistent character arcs to tie it all together, and of course the competition eps.
In terms of singing, I just wish the songs were better utilized to say something about the plot and, again, characters. I don’t even mind Rachel singing so monstrously disproportionately more but so many were just unnecessary ballads about the same old thing. Mostly Finn. But it’s not like chs like Blaine didn’t have what I’d consider unnecessary songs that took up time better spent on characterisation.
I’m not sure I would have liked more competitions, even practice ones. Things like girls vs. boys, sure (even though it’s no competition) and heck I would have loved a road trip and more eps of them just hanging out like Blame It On The Alcohol. But the competition structure largely works, particularly in season 1 where there are only two. One at the halfway point (narratively) and one as a finale, perfect. I guess later on there was a problem with the introduction of Nationals because the stakes of Regionals were all but lost. But the journey of getting to those eps didn’t feel like padding to me, if anything it was the real meat of it.
Bottom line is that, I mean, yeah there were so many unnecessary bits but it’s just how they were handled. Would I restructure Glee, sure, I have that one post that I’m too lazy to link to now. I just don’t think I’d personally phrase it as padding being the problem.

And the fake one is "Miss Pillsbury has a pamphlet on gay marriage called "the Unholy Institution"", which was kind of a trick question, since Miss Pillsbury does have a lot of wildly titled pamphlets!
If you're interested, explanation of the others are under the cut.
Here's what you missed on Glee...
"Mr. Schue sings Blurred Lines while everyone twerks on each other" unfortunately happened. It happened in season 5 episode 5 The End of Twerk. It was wildly inappropriate, but they sort of try to explain it by making clear that Mr. Schue does not know what the song is about. To make matters even worse, in the episode, the right to twerk is somehow linked to transgender bathroom rights.
Tumblr media
"Sue Sylvester marries herself" happened in season 2 episode 8 Furt. In a later season, it is revealed that she divorced herself off-screen, because she doesn't believe in love. Her sister and her mother were present for the ceremony and after Sue's mom complains about the ridiculous wedding, Sue and her sister call their mother out for being a bad mom. She explains that she was too busy hunting Nazi's to be there during their childhood. Anyway, Sue wore this to her wedding:
Tumblr media
"Blaine hallucinates all Glee club members as puppets" happened in season 5 episode 7 The Puppet Master. There is a gas leak and Blaine imagines all of the others as puppets. He later actually makes the puppets and unfortunately for all of us, they sing What Does The Fox Say with their puppets. Kevin, who plays Artie, says he couldn't help but looking so disturbed, because this is the moment he realised the show had gone off the rails.
Tumblr media
"Puck fakes being disabled so that he can buy weed at a discount" got picked quite a lot, but this did happen in season 1 episode 9 Wheels. In that episode, Mr. Schue asks everyone to spend time in a wheelchair in order to make them aware of the inaccesibility that Artie faces. This entire episode was actually really well done, apart from uhhhh... this. Puck fakes that he is actually disabled as a result from an accident and in order to numb the pain, he wants weed. The dealer, who happens to be the previous glee club leader, takes pity and offers a discount. Puck then uses that weed to make weed cupcakes for the glee club bake sale. He basically drugs the entire school, so that they get addicted and buy more. The worst part is that Puck isn't the only one who fakes being disabled in this episode, but Puck's reasoning was the wildest.
Tumblr media
"April Rhodes wants to create the first all white version of The Wiz" is real. She mentions it in season 1 episode 16 Home. She got $2 milion dollars as hush money after she saw someone die in front of her. April decides to follow her dream to go to Broadway!
Tumblr media
"Quinn pretends to have contraptions during a song sung with teen moms" refers to Quinn singing It's A Man's Man's Man's World with the Unwed Mothership Connection, a school club for pregnant teenagers. This happened in season 1 episode 21 Funk and Quinn performed it to prove that she can be funky.
Tumblr media
Oh "Finn shoots himself in his leg" my beloved. This one wasn't picked at all in the beginning, but then suddenly people started choosing it. It happened. It really did. Finn joined the army at the end of season 3, but in season 4 episode 4 The Break-Up, it is revealed that he was in the army for 16 whole days and he got discharged when he shot himself while cleaning his rifle Rachel (yes, he named his rifle after his sort-of-ex-girlfriend-it's-complicated).
Tumblr media
As I said, "Miss Pillsbury has a pamphlet on gay marriage called "the Unholy Institution" is fake, but here are some examples of real pamphlets:
Tumblr media
"Rachel sends Sunshine to a crackhouse to stop her from auditioning for glee club" happens in season 2 episode 1 Audition. After being incredibly racist towards Sunshine, Rachel realises that Sunshine has an amazing voice and she gets jealous. She is threatened by the idea of Sunshine overshadowing her in Glee club, so she gives Sunshine the wrong address for her audition. She sends her to a crackhouse.
Tumblr media
"Brittany thinks dolphins are just gay sharks" is real and kind of iconic, so I am not surprised this didn't get that many votes. Brittany says this in season 1 episode 14 Hell-O.
Tumblr media
Apparently this is a trend

Kurt’s POV
Kurt had spent all day Saturday planning: trying on outfits, rehearsing what he wanted to say, and wondering if he should try to guess what kind of coffee Blaine drank. When Sunday finally arrived it was after a restless night’s sleep, he was just too amped up for today. He was ready to go two hours before he needed to be and Kurt arrived at the Lima Bean 45 minutes before the agreed upon time. So, he ordered a hot, decaffeinated tea and sat at the corner table. The last thing Kurt needed was his lack of sleep and too much coffee to converge. He was nervous enough as is. His leg was jiggling under the table so he took out his phone to text Mercedes. She’d know how to talk him down.
Mercedes: I know you’re not texting me while Cutie McButt is sitting across from you
Kurt: I’m early, he’s not here yet.
Kurt: and we agreed not to call him that
Mercedes: you agreed, I’m an independent woman and will call him whatever I damn well, please.
Kurt sighed.
Mercedes: I know you’re nervous but don’t be
Mercedes: Blaine likes you
Mercedes: trust me, I got an eye for these things
He smiled, Mercedes may think she has an eye for these things but couldn’t see Sam Evans making goo-goo eyes at her all week.
Texting Mercedes did make Kurt feel better. At exactly 12, Blaine walked in. Right on time. Punctuality was definitely one of the things Kurt liked about him.
Once he was actually in line with Blaine at his side, Kurt felt calmer. The nerves shot straight through him again if he so much considered the Winter Formal. It was still over a week away but Kurt needed to know if he was planning to match someone or not. While Kurt was caught up in his thoughts, the line in front of them dissipated.
“Medium drip,” Blaine said.
Oh, not a latte guy then.
“And whatever the gentleman beside me wants, I’m buying.”
“Um, non-fat mocha. Also a medium, please.”
Blaine paid and they went to stand at the end of the counter.
“Thank you for getting mine,” Kurt said.
“Next one is on you,” Blaine teased.
The Lima Bean wasn’t too busy so it didn’t take long for their drinks to be called out. When they sat down together, all Kurt wanted to do was blurt out an invitation to the dance.
“I didn’t see your car in the lot,” Blaine commented.
“Yeah, my dad dropped me off. My car’s in the garage, inspection time.”
Blaine nodded.
“Well, if you need a ride home, I can take you.”
Kurt’s cheeks threatened to redden so he took a sip of coffee before answering, “yeah, that would be nice.”
For most of their time together, they talked about school stuff. Namely, their big history test coming up this week—Kurt managed to ask if they could have another study session.
Then, Blaine started talking about Tina and Mike and glee.
“They’re really great but sometimes they just make me jealous being all couple-y and adorable. I mean they sing duets all the time, even when we aren’t in glee.”
Noted, Blaine wants to be couple-y and adorable. But does he want to do so with Kurt?
Kurt chuckled. “Rachel is the same way, except it’s usually a solo. Drives Finn crazy.”
“I can imagine.”
Blaine swirled his nearly empty coffee, “another?”
Kurt checked the tim; it was already 2 and he had a text from Martin at the garage.
“Only if it’s to-go, I gotta pick up my car.”
“Fine by me.”
This time Kurt paid for their coffee.

Season 6 - What Glee Should Be
Okay hear me out, I have a point I swear
Glee was cancelled going into S6. A half-length season, everyone knew it was over. There was no need to hold back, no need to compromise - and what we got was a highly divisive season that nevertheless feels like it was what the writers wanted to be doing for the last five years.
Note the focus on teacher-roles, Rachel instructing the New New New Directions, and Will and Sue’s rivalry taking the fore in later episodes. Note how none of the students get any more than one episode arcs, where even romantic subplots are constrained to single episodes unless it’s drama surrounding the teachers. It’s reminiscent of Season 1 of Glee, before the show was re-geared to be about the kids rather than Will and Emma.
But now the original kids are the teachers having the romantic subplot, creating an interesting middle-ground. But all in all, this feels so much more like the show that Glee was intended to be, now that there were no consequences for unpopularity or low ratings. It’s easy to imagine that, had the fandom not focused so much on the students, this might have been what Glee would have always looked like.
Does this mean it was good? That’s always going to be down to personal taste. But certainly, it is interesting to see the thought process shift.
Let’s look at them side by side
But seriously. There’s no escaping the fact that a lot of the heyday of Glee, and a lot of the things the fandom loves, weren’t part of the show’s original conception. There were always character arcs with the kids, a dash of acknowledging some real-world topics, but it was through the lens of, well, Will Schuester as the main character. Which is a sentence that feels so weird to type, but watching the pilot, watching the first season (especially 1A), it’s undeniable.
The show is about a teacher who learns from his kids, and through doing so has their life improved and helps figure out what they want in life and in their relationships. It’s about the idea of wasting your youth, and trying to recapture that and live your dreams even after feeling like you let them pass you by. That’s Glee season 1, before they had any idea of the huge fanbase they had, and what that fanbase wanted.
And Glee season 6? Rachel returns to McKinley, unsure of her place in life, and as she figures it out she chooses to become a teacher. She goes from hitting a low point, at the start of the season, to sorting out her priorities, finding romance again, and finding joy in helping others get the spotlight rather than being in it herself. And in much the same way, Blaine gets a comparable journey, going from a relationship that gets an alarming amount of vitriol, to finding himself with the Warblers, the school he went to originally, and having that help spark his development. Both of them have left behind successful performances to, well, teach Glee after something in their life crashed.
Rachel, Blaine and Will all get the same story.
Plus, of course, the throwback to building the Glee club one member at the time.
Parallel lines, who meet
You could complain about repetition. I’d argue that’s the point. Going to S1 again, it’s all about the parallels - right from the Pilot, Will and Terri and Emma are paralleled with Rachel and Quinn and Finn. There are a dozen tiny examples threaded throughout, like Quinn and Puck naming Beth and the immediate next scene being Shelby asking Rachel why her dads named her that - Glee likes to lay adult and teenage life side by side, and look at similarities and differences.
We’d be here a while if we listed everything. In S1, 3 and 4 especially, the show loves to compare and contrast - so having the original teens live the same arc as the teacher, well, it’s not unexpected. (shout out to Final Countdown having Kurt and Rachel watch Will and Sue have their sing-off and “...We cannot end up like them.”)
The echoes are the point. And when Glee goes out, it goes for parallels between Will and the kids, just like it did when it began.
Ain’t we got fun?
I feel like humour is going to be one of the most divisive things about S6. For me, it was a breath of fresh air - S5 had definitely gotten a little stale with some of the jokes. It referenced for the sake of referencing sometimes, and had grand set pieces that were played up like they were funny, and... weren’t, so it just ended up feeling a little weird.
S6, at least, is different. Love or hate Sue’s terrifying shipper-robot, it’s certainly not just a rehash of an old joke. Sue as an adversary is nothing new, but the dynamic she has in S6 as the over-the-top principal is different. There is imagination to a lot of the new quips, whether or not they work for you.
Then we have The Final Countdown, which harkens back to Run Joey Run and Baby Got Back as an unabashedly comedic musical number. The season gets a couple of those, and while the genre seems despised by the fandom, the writers seem to enjoy them, so given the chance, they added more.
It’s interesting. I’d probably say that one of the biggest issues Glee ran into was how it started to feel samey, and I wonder if that was a result of the same thought process that governed the show after S1 - trying to just do the things that the fandom reacted to. And when it’s too late to get the fandom back, they have the freedom to go for different things. There is genuine effort to do different rather than just do more - which inevitably runs the risk of alienating fans, but they were cancelled anyway so...
Lending a shoulder
So let’s talk about the social awareness side. How does S6 fare?
Honestly, surprisingly well. It’s still Glee, so not perfect, but there were beats that I noticed while watching that genuinely felt like an apology.
So let’s talk about Beiste. There is nuance here. Coach Beiste comes out as a trans man this season - I’ve seen this criticised, and I understand the criticism, that it undercuts Beiste’s arc in previous seasons. Originally, the depiction of a cis woman who was not conventionally attractive nor conventionally feminine still wanting acknowledgement and respect was, in its way, radical - then again, Beiste has had very little to do for a while. If the alternative was nothing, then I’m content with mere continuity wonkiness.
So let’s talk about the quality of this depiction. Glee’s previous foray into trans issues is Unique, and right from her name you get that uncomfortable vibe that they were just writing a drag queen, and there is that distinct undercurrent to some of her appearances. There was some good, but there was also a lot of... well, just imagine a ‘you tried’ star here.
Then comes Sheldon Beiste. I think this was the first time the word ‘transgender’ was actually said on the show. He’s explicit, upfront, takes a name that isn’t just ‘Badass’ or some such, and is otherwise presented and treated as just a guy, with other characters treating him without the transphobia Unique faced. Plus there is the off-handed scene where he mentions that he’s always been attracted to guys, and that’s probably not going to change - a mainstream show acknowledging that not all trans people are straight in 2015 feels bizarrely radical, especially after Unique.
Then there was Becky getting an episode that pretty much just existed to call out how she’d been consistently infantilised in previous seasons. Honestly that was one I had to google after the episode was done because there are a lot of things I don’t know about Down’s - the fact Glee of all shows got that reaction is kinda impressive.
Certainly, there are bits that are handled with the usual lack of tact, but there is a surprising amount to admire here. Which then, again, makes for a season one comparison and makes me wonder - in S1, the major dynamics that went for commentary were Kurt’s relationship with his dad, and Quinn’s arc dealing with conservative-family expectation and pressures, and a lot of that is well-handled compared to what a lot of people might expect from Glee going forwards.
There’s a lot of potential speculation there, but if nothing else, it indicates the season wasn’t low-effort.
Being the kids, as well as the sitter
Glee is about growing up, and it’s about what that means. We have a season where the teacher takes centre stage, like was originally planned, only it’s teachers that more people care about - Rachel, Kurt and Blaine probably have more fans than Will.
But what of the kids?
Given that they only have half a season, they’re impressive. It helps that they’re well cast - most only really get one or two big songs, but they’re able to nail them (if you haven’t, go listen to Roderick’s Take Me To Church, thank you), and all of them feel distinct from previous archetypes. There are also fresh dynamics here - Roderick and Spencer’s neat friendship, Jane fitting in with Dalton is brand new, Mason and Madison offer a sibling dynamic we surprisingly haven’t seen before given how rarely Glee has siblings (Kurt and Finn didn’t really act it, and Puck and Jake had few interactions).
Again, there’s genuine effort and freshness put into them, but it’s effort with the understanding that they aren’t leads. They don’t get multi-episode focuses on any love triangles or romance plots, they’re unmistakable secondary characters but it’s in that role that they thrive.
Is season 6 the best season of the show? No. And it’s one it’s easy to imagine being hated, because it is a departure from previous seasons. I could list flaws - there’s a lack of focus, a desire to bring back characters that can give a very scattershot approach, and some dynamics do feel definitely underexplored. There’s no arc to compare to, say, Quinn’s development in S1.
But for a half-length season that’s also wrapping up past characters, it does about as well as it reasonably could.
It really feels like this was the show that they meant to make, though. You can feel the extra effort that goes into it - plus the music that was selected sticks out. A Burt Bacharach episode, a Carole King/Alanis Morisette episode, these are definitely from the era and genres that the writers showed a preference for earlier on. We get another Queen song, we get Styx as the finale - bands that have both appeared before. This is a victory lap. There are certainly more modern songs included, but it’s reminiscent of, again, Season 1 thriving on the back of Journey and showtunes and Queen, before a younger audience made them insert more contemporary music. It feels as though the songs they’re including are the songs that the writers like, rather than leaning on chart-toppers - the Bacharach theme episode is one of the lowest watched episodes in the show’s run, which is kind of shocking given how easily artist-focus episodes could get a bump in viewership. For some reason though, fans of a songwriter whose heyday was in the 1950s/60s don’t cross over massively with Glee.
And yet they went for it. Why? Because they wanted to, they liked the songs (Bacharach tends to be basically showtune-adjacent, you’ll find a wealth of musical singers who’ll do his songs for albums and concerts), as we can tell by S1 using his ‘I Say A Little Prayer.’ This is what the show would have been if there was no care about what the audience wanted.
For me, the biggest flaw with Glee was the fact that they had no bloody idea what they wanted the show to be, or who the target audience even was. It goes from edgy teenage comedy, to teachable-moment kids’ show, to shockingly nuanced adult drama.
Hence the title of this ramble - this is what Glee feels like it was meant to be, regardless of personal taste. How much a show should listen to its audience is a heck of a complex question, way too much to go into this far into an already too-long ramble, but it’s still interesting to see. When they aren’t trying to balance intent and audience, you get a fascinating lens through which to look at the show.
There is effort here, which raises the question - if this is the show that they wanted to make, as it seems to be with how effective it is as a redo of the original season and original intent of the show and thereby the interests of the writers, what does that say of past seasons? Where are the compromises, where are the decisions made to feed into what the fandom wanted? And are the departures from this vision strengths or weaknesses?
I feel like everyone’s going to have a different answer to that question, and I do wonder if that’s why Glee fandom often seems so divided. Functionally, there are two shows going on here - it just depends which you were tuning in to see.

Note
Of all the criticisms there are about Glee, most of them justified, one I almost never see people mention but one that really sticks with me is that I truly don’t think this show took full advantage of it being a musical show.
Elements of the musical theatre vibes were there in S1 where characters would break out into song to express how they were feeling in the moment, but as the show went on, the songs just…stopped telling the story and stopped telling us how the characters feel.
And this is nit-picky, because I assume some of this is due to having a lower budget, but I would have LOVED to see more moments where the characters would break into song and suddenly a bunch of background characters just join in with spontaneously but synchronized choreography. Like say Mercedes were to realize she’s falling for Sam and once the “oh shit” moment hits her, suddenly Rihanna’s “SOS” drops and the characters around her begin dancing, she starts singing, and the scene plays out like something you’d see in a musical.
Is it cheesy as hell? Yes but that’s the point! It’s a musical show! Take advantage of that and have the characters spill their guts in emotional ballads or have the songs cover a passage of time like an opening number of a Broadway show or have the characters get so into it they imagine a whole ass musical number in their head complete with costumes and choreography!
Like I have heard certain songs in the show that sound AMAZING but the scene they’re in falls flat because it’s not telling me a story, but it COULD!
And I have a feeling that I’m one of the 10 people that actually cares about this aspect of the show enough but it still bugs me.
Yeah you probably are in a very small minority here since most of the complaints about Glee are literally just how cRiNgE it is like shut uppp we know lmao
But yeah like also there's the whole thing about the early seasons having a story to tell, and then they found songs that would help tell it vs the later seasons writing plots around songs they wanted to include. Plus the rise in average songs per ep where it just felt like they were cramming in as many as they could to sell them on itunes. Like think about Preggers having no full songs, or Vitamin D only featuring two numbers in the whole ep. Certainly couldn't find that in any of the later seasons. And it's harder to make them stand out and feel special when they're clearly worried about quantity over quality
And then when they do try to do something interesting it's immediately b-b-but the budget!! like shut up again omg sorry we're trying to have fun here
I mean I know I complain about Rachel's 500 'walking down the hallway crysinging' numbers but. I appreciate how they cut between being diegetic and non diegetic. Like part of the number happens in her room/the choir room/the auditorium so we know it's really happening, but then it changes to her singing in the middle of a crowded hallway so we know it's just in her head. But there are a lot of different things going on and it feels like it's all to service one narrative and it feels like a well integrated part of the story. Like Firework or Take A Bow. Or Mercedes singing Spotlight and it starts out in her head but then turns into her audition so she's really singing it to people. Idk just little things like that that make the songs feel more woven into the story
I know they're short on crazy costumes and stuff but I'm trying to think of songs that fit the bill of being non diegetic and actually moving the plot along instead of stopping everything dead to just be an unrelated 3 minute music video. I'm thinkinggg like It's Too Late, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, How To Be A Heartbreaker? Stuff along those lines
But that's how all the scenarios I write in my head are. Kurt singing Something In My House and Name Of The Game (both about Blaine duh) and Brittany singing Dancing With Tears In My Eyes. They're basically all like. Singing the song while a montage of background events happen that line up with the lyrics of the song lol. I definitely would've had a signature style, had I only been on the creative team for this show </3

5 songs you’re obsessed with…
Or as I’m going with, 5 songs I am absolutely completely normal about I don’t know what you mean
Everything I Had (Sub Radio)
Maybe it’s just the part of me that has lost the ability to do a lot of things I enjoy or at least used to be able to do with ease, but there is something that hits about screaming singing along “Everything I had. I want it I want it I want it back.” It’s not just a life free of pain or the ability to think clearly or not be exhausted by the little things I’ve lost (Though that is a large bit of it). But I’ve also lost people I used to care about, and places that used to feel like home, and it’s not quite fair how much has gotten lost with life.
youtube
We Made It (Louis Tomlinson)
God. Fuck. The queer in me is so fucking normal about this song I swear. I don’t even know how to explain it, there’s just something about the lyrics of like “We made it. Underestimated and always underrated.” That makes me go fucking feral and mixed with the “We were only kids just trying to work it out. Wonder what they’d think if they could see us now.” Like duudddde. What would younger baby queer me who was crying xemself to sleep every night out of fear think of me now? And also the line “What I could’ve become. Don’t know why they put all of this on us when we’re so young.” Fucking done. I can’t. And don’t even get me started on talking about why Louis wrote that line in particular and all the shit that happened with them as One Direction, I will stop being normal about it. Fuckkkk.
youtube
All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor Swift)
I’ve never been in a relationship, never will be. But when I tell you there a lyrics from this song I feel so deep in my heart thanks to all the other heartbreak life has dealt me. The line “I’d like to be my old self again, but I’m still trying to find it.” Is enough and it’s not even the start of it!! It might have to do with the length but this is one of these songs I go to when I hurt and can’t find my own words why but I know there’s lyrics out there that fit the situation. And then there’s the whole Blaine connection my god I just can’t, it’s a good song.
youtube
2022
Look me in the eye. Come here, look at me. I am Not putting this song on here because of why it was created (Phan). It’s the lyrics, the fucking lyrics that get me okay? That’s what this shit is about. Listen to this with just the lyrics and tell me you don’t go feral over the lines of “My tired eyes are blinded by the fairy lights. How far would I have gotten without you here? … I could have made it on my own, but you were like my stepping stones?” The lyrics are for soulmates I fucking swear and it doesn’t help I’ve permanently associated it with Charlie and Julius in my head. Just fuck dude, like yeah I could have made it through life without you but you make it easier. Listen to this and think about your favorite ship and you will thank me.
youtube
All of You (Encanto)
I am the most normal about this movie, I swear. This single song is all I need to send me into actual real life tears which is something that doesn’t happen easily. And if you’ve watched the movie I can imagine you understand why. It has so many good lyrics like “But the stars don’t shine, they burn.” “We’re just happy that you’re here, okay.” “She takes after you.” “You’re the real gift kid, let us in.” And the entire bit where the whole town shows up to help them!!! They’ve dedicated their lives to the town and the town will always look after them in return. And Bruno reuniting with his sisters and how happy they are he’s alive, Mariano going “Dolores, I see you.” Something she craves and the sisters working together and literally the whole end bit with the door knob!! I am foaming at the mouth, shaking a pool noodle violently, I am being so normal about this movie I swear.
youtube
It was hard only choosing five songs. I am definitely not overloading with feelings now. Anyways, I’m going to go not sleep. And uh, I tag @haunted-house-heart @blockofhoney @piscesintherain @keepers-log @wigglywiggles and anyone else that wants to do this!! Share music if you would like, I am so ready to hear it
5 songs you're obsessed with...
(Just 5?? How the hell am I just gonna pick 5 😭)
thanks for the tag @withgreatpowercomesmyfuckingdick!
Greatest Show on Earth (Nightwish) - yes it's 21 minutes, yes they keep you engaged the entire time, and i am obsessed w/ every minute. This one is the recording from their Wembley 2015 concert which is my personal favorite version. It covers the history of life on planet earth from the beginning to now in one song and it's fucking amazing so listen to it right fucking now (especially go find the youtube version because then you can watch the band have the time of their lives on stage)
Where Butterflies Never Die (Broken Iris) - psychadelic is how I describe this song but I can't find another word I like better. I discovered this song shortly before I got super into Trigun and holy fucking shit the amount I freaked out when I made the connection about the butterfly shit. Anyways highly recommend
Can You Hear It? (Aviators) - Off the Dreams of the Deep album, it's a fantastic song that digs into that good good eldritch horror stuff similar to the stuff we get in Bloodborne (which, there is at least one bb inspired song on this album so go listen to the entire thing if that sounds cool). Alt-rock with orchestral stuff thrown in I am in love from those first instrumental bars
The Seas (Envoi) - There's something about Envoi's sound and style that is just big nostolgia for me. It's sorta pop punk/rock but not quite and i just love it so much. This one gives me major season 2 opening for an anime vibes i don't know how else to explain it 😅 I recommend all their other stuff too it's great ("Ghost" to this day gives me such Tifa vibes its incredible).
Crash Poet (Cold Kingdom) - for me this is the song for Genesis. Blatant poetry/stage performance analogies?? Begging for the chance to step up and show how much you have to offer to the world? Yeah, it's Genesis alright.
as for tagging, how about @ibyte13, @nexomify, @darktiger57, @raeofgayshine and anyone else who wants to!

Chapter 15By GleefulPoppet
“You what?” a female voice bellowed from the side of the stage, and Sebastian’s head shot in her direction. Sue Sylvester was looking at him with a face that could murder.
At least, he assumed it was Sue. Dave had warned him that there was a 12-foot tall, terrifying woman that always wore tracksuits who would smell his bullshit from a mile away. She was scary enough. Even more shocking was that the voice came out of a petite, red-haired woman standing next to her, who looked like she’d walked right out of a magazine ad from the 1950s with her hands on her hips, tapping her foot.
“Who the hell are you?”Sebestian spat out at her. He started to panic when he realized this plan might not have been so well thought out and that there were at least six adults at the side of the stage staring at him.
“We might ask you the same question, young man!” Principal Figgins said, taking a step forward. “Sue, if you might be so kind, let’s take this ruffian to my office.” He shook his head and made a tsk tsk sound as he looked at Sebastian with pity. “Imagine doubting something like hashtag Klaine? You must have blinders on, young man. Ms. Pilsbury, if you might join us?”
She nodded, and with more venom in her voice than anyone knew she was capable of, she asked, “How did you get in here?” She’d worked too hard with all of these students over the years to allow someone to come rushing in here and ruin their Senior Prom.
When Sebastian didn’t answer, Sue finally had enough and charged forward, ready to drag him out.
His eyes went wide in surprise at seeing her headed towards him, and he jutted his chin toward Dave and Landon, who were down in the crowd, front and center. “Dave Karofsky.”
Sue gave a menacing glare and held up two fingers, pointing to her eyes and then at Dave and Landon and back again. “In the office. Now.” She flicked her head toward the right exit. “Everyone else, carry on with this disgusting display of love-sick, doe-eyed croaking!” She grabbed the mic from Sebastian and shoved it back into Kurt’s hand. As she passed by Kurt and Blaine with a firm hand on Sebastian's shoulder, ushering him from the stage, she whispered, “In the office when your duet and the next Glee Club performance are over. No excuses. Don’t make me come looking for you.”
“Back to the festivities, children! On with the show, as they say. Yes. Yes,” Principal Figgins said as they exited the stage.
Three teachers and three teens disappeared through the gymnasium doors. Everyone cheered, and the gossip started buzzing through the air faster than a swarm of bees.
Kurt looked at Blaine and then down at their hands. “Oh, god! Are you okay? I didn't realize how hard I was squeezing your hand.”
“Huh?” Blaine shook his head to clear the shock, looking down and seeing that their skin was pale and their fingertips dark purple from clinging to each other. “Looks like it was mutual. I’m fine. You okay, love?”
Before Kurt could answer, an intense drum rift got everyone’s attention, and the band played the intro to their duet song, just a bit faster-paced this time.
“Sing it, boys!” Santana yelled.
They grinned at each other, knowing that they had promised they wouldn’t let Sebastian ruin this for them. They winked and jumped back into the song. Whatever would happen to them later in the office could wait. Right then, it was their moment, and they were going to take it. They hammed up the dance even more and spun each other across the stage, causing everyone to laugh. They waggled their eyebrows and blew kisses as they worked the cheering crowd, and when they sang the final lines, they gazed into each other’s eyes.
And if I had to walk the world, I'd make you fall for me.I promise you, I promise you I willI will, I will
With the last note, Blaine leaned over and kissed Kurt. It was quick yet filled with all his devotion. Kurt playfully popped his foot up behind him, and when they pulled apart, he had the biggest grin. He turned his head toward the crowd and, with an exaggerated wink, fanned his face, tipping his head towards Blaine.  A chorus of laughter blew across the dance floor, and everything seemed back to normal.
“Vote Klaine for Prom Kings! Voting ends after this next song from the Glee Club!”
The Glee Club joined them on stage, and together, they put on a perfect performance of “Here’s to Us!,” utilizing everyone’s talents and voices, including brilliant choreography by Brittany and Mike.   The energy in the room became palpable as the DJ took over, playing a club mix of “We Could be Heroes” that got everyone jumping.
The parent and teacher committee took the ballot boxes out one door, and no one noticed Blaine and Kurt slip away, hand in hand, out another to face whatever they were about to find waiting for them in the office.
—*—
“Aww... Boys. Nice. Thanks for joining us,” Principal Figgins said as he opened the glass door for them. “Your parents have been called and should be here shortly.”
“What?” Kurt and Blaine said at the same time.
“Let’s just all sit tight and wait for them. Some of the accusations flying around between these two,” he pointed between Dave and Sebastian, “are quite serious. And we need your parents here.”
“My parents are—” Blaine cut himself off and closed his eyes. His parents were going out on a date, and he wanted that for them. His dad had been working a lot, and it sometimes took a toll on his mom.  He opened his eyes when Kurt squeezed his hand to get his attention and tugged on him.
There was only one seat left in the room at the end of the couch that Landon and Dave were sitting on, so Kurt sat down and then pulled Blaine down onto his lap, wrapped his hands around his waist, and offered a simple kiss in the middle of his back in silent reassurance. He smiled when he saw Dave and Landon discreetly finding comfort by rubbing a finger against each other's hands.
The following seven minutes were the longest torture of their lives as the tick tick tick of the clock seemed slower with each second that passed.
The first person to arrive was Mr. Smythe, pointing to his son. “Sebastian, you are in more hot water than you can dare to imagine. Not the least of which is I was already on my way here, using your location because I came home early, and low and behold, you weren’t in your room, grounded and where you belong. You will not speak unless spoken to. Now, tell me. What the hell is going on here?” He looked to Principal Figgins.
“We’d love to know that, too,” Burt said from the doorway and then walked in with Carole and Blaine’s parents right behind him. The office was suddenly stifling with eight adults and five petrified teenagers crammed into it.
“Yes. Of course. Thank you for coming so quickly. I have contacted Dave’s father—who is out of town. He said Dave may speak for himself and requested that he be informed of these happenings in a call tomorrow morning. Landon seems innocent in whatever shenanigans are happening here and would like to stay with Dave since his parents cannot be here. Does anyone have any objections?”
“No,” several of the parents said in unison.
“Well, let’s start from the beginning then. Dave, if you will.”
“Uhm... So, I was a jerk? I treated Kurt like crap for years. And man, I just—It took me a while to get my act together. And Kurt, he just kept being cool, you know? He was never cruel back. So, I took that to mean he…could maybe… You know, like me one day. No one had ever been kind to me or understood what I was going through except him. So, I fixated on it—on him. I’m so, so sorry. I was over the top about it all.  It wasn’t until... Not  until…” He looked over at Landon with a nervous smile. “Well, I guess I know what it feels like now to actually have that go two ways. I did some stupid stuff. I know I did. I’m truly sorry.” He looked at Kurt and hoped that he knew how sincere he was.
“Tell us about the phone, please,” Principal Figgins prompted.
“Right. Uhh... So, Sebastian convinced me to clone Kurt’s SIM card from his locker.”
“You did what?” Burt said.
Dave shrugged. “I followed the exact directions and software Sebastian gave me, cloned it, met him after school, and handed it over. I didn’t do anything with it. I swear I didn’t.”
Sebastian turned red and let out a small, threatening growl.
“What the hell, Sebastian?” his dad roared.
“Seb has been using it to spy on them and prove they were fake dating or something because he wants to—Uhh... Well, you know…with Blaine. He…” Dave turned bright red.
“That’s what got you into this mess, isn’t it? It’s why you’re grounded until June! You can’t keep it in your pants. First, the testing and medication, and now this? Dammit!”
Blaine chimed in, horrified by the implications of sexual diseases. He’d been tested twice to ensure he hadn’t gotten anything from his cheating ex. Luckily, the universe had spared him that particular consequence. “He’s been harassing me since we broke up, texting constantly. He sent me a picture of his private parts in various...uh…stages. I’ve blocked his numbers three times now.”
Mr. Smythe looked at his son, shaking his head. “Convenient. I heard three sob stories about how your phones have been stolen or broken when I confronted you about the credit card bill.” He looked to Blaine and took a deep breath. “Do I dare ask how old you were when he sent this picture—or was it pictures?”
“Seventeen.”
He whistled and looked over at Blaine’s dad, who offered him his hand.
“Charles Anderson. I’m a lawyer as well. I’m very much aware that you’re a State’s Attorney for Ohio. I’m sure you’re aware we can press charges for distributing pornography to my son, a minor at the time. After he told me about the pictures, I prepared the documents and collected our phone records. We didn’t pursue it when they stopped. In light of this new information, though…”
“I won’t try to talk you out of it if you think it’s the right course of action. He deserves what is coming to him,” Mr. Smythe said as he put his arms up in surrender. “I’ve given him too many chances. I’m done.”
“There is also the issue of this SIM card. As you know, copying a card is not illegal unless you have the express intention of gathering personal data. So, I think Dave here,” he waved over to him, “is off the hook on a technicality since he did it solely with the intention of giving it to Sebastian and didn’t use the card. However, if your son has been using it to gather information about Kurt, that is a second-degree felony.”
Kurt interjected, “He sent Blaine false texts that looked like they were from me, trying to lure Blaine into being alone with him and other situations where he would think he was meeting me, and it was actually Sebastian,”
“You knew? You knew he was cloning your phone, Kurt?” Burt asked, flabbergasted.
Kurt’s eyes went wide, shock on his face. “Uhm... Yes?”
“And it didn’t occur to you to come to me? To go to Ms. Pilsbury or the principal and get help from an adult? Kurt, come on, kid! You’re smarter than that. What were ya thinkin’?”
“Honestly, I don’t know. Blaine and I—We were—I was caught up in the drama of all of it, what was happening in our relationship and with Dave and Seb and Prom and graduation, and I don’t know. I’m sorry, Dad. It’s the most obvious solution now, and I’m pretty ashamed of myself.”
“I knew, too,” Blaine said sheepishly. “That is inexcusable. It didn’t even occur to me. I was so lost in my hate for Sebastian. It was all so stupid. And the pictures were the worst. I don’t know. We were trying to handle it on our own.”
“Yes. Well, we can all see how well that went,” Charles said.
“I'm sorry, Dad,” Blaine said. His eyes welled up with tears. He hated disappointing his father, although the way Kurt wrapped his arms tighter around him in comfort helped tremendously.
“We’ll talk about this later. I’m livid you didn’t tell me about the SIM card. That being said, I can see you kids have been going through plenty. Let's not let this ruin your Senior Prom, alright?”
Blaine nodded, his voice timid when he replied, “Thank you, Dad. That’s extremely generous.”
“What else needs to be addressed?” Ms. Pilsbury asked, trying to get all eyes off Blaine, who was clearly upset with himself.
“Being a State’s Attorney, I’m going to call in some favors. I can skip about 20 steps to getting a restraining order filed against my son,” Mr. Smythe gritted the word between his teeth, “on behalf of both Blaine and Kurt—and Dave, if needed. I can also assure you that after graduation, Seb will be going on a nice, long internship somewhere, like an ice fishing boat in Alaska or coal mining in some dark cave, so he can think about the choices he’s making, throwing away his life like this. I’m not expending for Harvard until he gets his act together and actually goes to the counseling I'm paying for. He’s also being financially cut off until improvements are made. Just because you're smart doesn’t make you wise. And if he dares disappoint me again tonight, he might wake up with a tracking anklet on his person tomorrow.”
“Dad!” Sebastian shouted, tears springing to his eyes as anger suddenly spread like wildfire up his neck and cheeks.
“Is this amiable?” Mr. Smythe looked between Burt and Charles.
The fathers looked at their sons, who looked at each other, nodding.
“We just want him to leave us alone and stop harassing us,” Blaine said. He didn’t want Sebestain’s whole life to be ruined, yet the guy had shown no remorse, and he needed to learn there were consequences to his actions.
After Burt, Carole, Charles, and Pam went into the hall to discuss it for a moment, they came back in and agreed. They exchanged contact information with Mr. Smythe to get everything in order, and then Sebastian was escorted by the elbow firmly out of the office by his father. “Idiots, all of you!” he said under his breath on the way out.
“Aww... Yes. A little trip to Alaska should cool him off nicely. As for you, Dave, you have two weeks of detention for breaking into a locker. And you are hanging by a thread for suspension. Understand?” Mr. Figgins asked.
“Yes, sir. I will be on my best behavior until graduation.”
“Good. Good. Now, is everything fine here? Everyone is happy? Yes,” he said without waiting for an answer. “Then let’s see if Klaine won Prom Kings. With the roar coming from the auditorium, things are getting frenzied. Let’s rejoin the party.”
Blaine received a hug from his parents, and Kurt got one from Burt and Carole. They assured them that, while they were unhappy with them not coming to them about the SIM card and a discussion was to be held, they genuinely wanted them to have a nice Prom night. They all blushed, thinking about the awkward conversation about being allowed to get a hotel room for the night because they were both 18 now. At least they’d be somewhere safe and not sneaking around, and of course, there was the clichéd, “We were teenagers in love once, too,” which made Kurt and Blaine want to gag. No. Just no. No kid can imagine their parents having sex, thank you very much. Then the room was filled with the harmony of six people clearing their throats and exiting the office with smiles and promises to see each other in the morning.
Once in the hall, Blaine held his hand out for Kurt and kissed him on the cheek. “I can’t believe our parents were out on a double date. That’s sort of cool. We’ve all hung out before at family dinners, but they met up. I sort of love that. Like, we were all absorbed in Prom, and meanwhile, the parental units were texting each other to go get cheesecake while we’re on a date.”
“It’s adorable. I hope we’re like that someday. You know, when we have kids. I want to be friends with their dates’ parents.”
Blaine’s step faltered, and he yanked Kurt gently to a stop. “When we have kids?” he asked with wide eyes, full of excitement at the implications of that.
“Mmhm... When we have kids.” He leaned in and kissed Blaine’s lips, and oh, god, it felt so incredible. It felt like slipping his feet into his favorite Alexander McQueen boots, molded perfectly to his feet: flawless, comfortable, and ready for adventure.
“Kurt! Blaine! For hell’s sake! This isn’t French class! Get in here. They need us on stage. Now!” Santana yelled and pointed to the doors.
A few minutes later, in a blur of activity, Kurt and Blaine stood on the stage with the other nominees. The adults were droning on about this and that when all the students just wanted to know one thing.
“And now, without further ado, this year’s Prom Queen is…” Mr. Figgins opened the envelope and smiled. “A tie for the lovely Cheerio duo of Santana and Brittany! Congratulations!”
Ms. Pilsbury carried over two crowns and grinned. “We planned ahead for this. I hoped you’d win,” she whispered between them as she handed one to Brittany to put on Santana’s head and then gave the other to Santana to place on her girlfriend, which she did with a sweet kiss on her cheek. “You ladies look beautiful. Congratulations.” She stepped back and waved an arm out, presenting them to the applauding students, catcalls and hollers mixed in.
“Achievement! Good. Fine. And your Prom King is…” After he pulled the card out, he smiled and waited for at least four eternal seconds.
“Tell us!” someone screamed from the back. Everyone started chanting, “Tell us! Tell us!”
“Your Prom Kings are hashtag Klaine! Kurt and Blaine, congratulations!”
Kurt and Blaine turned and stared at each other, shocked, then collided into each other’s arms, wrapped in a hug like they’d never shared before. It hurt in the best kind of way. They managed to take the crowns from Ms. Pilsbury and place them on each other’s heads. Neither of them were embarrassed by the few tears that escaped the corners of their eyes.
“You boys are amazing. I’m so happy for you both. Congrats.”
The opening notes of “When You Look Me in the Eyes” filled the air, and the four of them descended the stairs together and then melted into their date’s arms as they started to sway and slowly spin on the dance floor.
When you look me in the eyes,And tell me that you love meEverything's alright,When you're right here by my side
With each line of the song, the world grew progressively smaller. All that mattered was in their arms, and suddenly, it was a shocking reminder that high school was coming to an end, that in some miraculous turn of events for all of them, the most important thing they were taking away from this experience was not their diploma. It was the person in their arms.
I can't take a day without you here,You're the light that makes my darkness disappearWhen you look me in the eyes,And tell me that you love meEverything's alrightWhen you're right here by my side
Blaine had a flash of a double wedding with the girls someday and then smiled; Kurt would never go for that. He let the thoughts go and shivered at the idea of a wedding, though—no matter what it looked like—and turned, inhaled deeply in Kurt’s neck, and pressed a kiss there before he started whisper-singing some of the words to Kurt, who joined in.
'Cause when you look me in the eyesAnd tell me that you love meEverything's alrightWhen you're right here by my side
When you look me in the eyes,
I catch a glimpse of heaven
I find my paradise
When you look me in the eyes
As more and more students wandered onto the dance floor, the slow songs were eventually replaced with dance mixes. There was laughing with friends, ridiculous chain dances that included at least 50 people doing the bunny hop, hugs with everyone who was realizing this was the last dance of high school, tears, kisses, and eventually whispered longing as some students started heading out.
After finally collapsing in a chair with Blaine in his lap again, Kurt’s heart raced for an entirely different reason than the dance with Mercedes and Sam that had left them breathless. “Blaine?”
Blaine turned sideways and put his arm around Kurt’s neck. “Hi.”
Kurt’s face beamed at seeing how happy his boyfriend was. “Hi.”
“What were you going to ask me?” Blaine queried before kissing Kurt on the nose.
“I—Well, I could really use a shower. I feel disgusting. This fabric was not made to wick away sweat.” He shuddered, scrunching his face.
Blaine laughed and shook his head. “I see. And exactly what would you like me to do about your current predicament?” He walked his fingers up Kurt’s chest.
“May I be as blunt and honest as I can muster?”
Blaine’s fingers suddenly twisted in the ruffled fabric on the front of Kurt's shirt, his eyes widened, and his breath caught. “Oh, dear god, please, yes.”
“Blaine Anderson, I’ve loved you for so long. I want to take a shower with you if you’re ready. And just... We can see what happens? We don’t have to rush. We have our whole lives in front of us. Still, I’m not going to waste another day not telling you that I love you and that I’m ready for whatever is next for us.” He took a quick breath, and with determination in his eyes, he said, “I want to go to the hotel.”
Blaine’s eyes shone with understanding, and he nodded twice. “Okay.” He slid off his lap, intertwined their fingers, and without a word between them, they walked to the car, squeezing each other’s hands intermittently to make sure this was actually happening.
After driving for several miles in comfortable silence, Kurt asked, “You okay, honey?”
“Yeah. I’m so okay. You?”
“Yeah. Uhm... Can I ask you something? Do you know what a safeword is, Blaine?”
Blaine shook his head. “Not sure I know exactly. I have a vague idea, though.”
“Well, basically, we pick a word for us, and then if one of us says it—ever—during sex or in conversation, it means whatever is happening stops immediately. We take a few deep breaths and figure out what happens next.”
“Where did you learn that?”
Kurt blushed, visible even in just the faint lights from the console dash. “Uhh... Promise you won’t laugh?”
“Kurt. Of course,” Blaine said sincerely as he quickly glanced over.
“I might have read those pamphlets my dad gave me a while back. Uhm... After your parents called him this afternoon to get permission for the hotel—and he agreed after blushing as red as his favorite buffalo check flannel—I promised him I would if we were going to stay here tonight. Plus, I wanted—I wanted to be prepared.”
“Wow. Thank you. That's—Wow, Kurt.”
“It’s been a day. Reading those pamphlets and thinking about last night...”
“I haven’t stopped thinking about it,” Blaine said quietly.
“Me neither.” Kurt brought Blaine’s hand up and kissed it.
“So, the safeword. I love that idea. What word do you want?”
“Something ridiculous that won’t come up in the heat of the moment.”
“Hmm...” Blaine thought for a moment. “Like ‘Prince Humperdinck’?”
Kurt laughed. “I love you. ‘Humperdinck’ could work, though, couldn’t it?”
“Yeah. We can just try it, and we can change it later, right?”
“Right,” Kurt said. When he realized they had turned into the hotel's parking lot, he knew he had to say the next part before he lost his nerve or they lost their clothes. “Blaine. Can I—Can we talk about one more thing before we get out?”
“Always,” Blaine said as he turned off the ignition and turned towards Kurt, rubbing his fingers up and down his arm.
“I know we’ve been caught up in finally being in each other’s arms. And when you—Blaine, when you were so brave and finally told me, you said that you were mentally exhausted from trying to keep it inside.”
“I was. It had been a year. Longer, probably.”
Kurt nodded. “I wanted to tell you thank you. Thank you for…opening your heart.  My heart and mind were exhausted, too, with the same ‘should I or shouldn’t I’ rhetoric that made me feel like I was sometimes on a hamster wheel.  And I’ve caught myself wishing that we could get that time back. On the flip side of it, though, I keep trying to figure out why.”
“Why we didn’t say anything?”
“Yeah. And I know we talked about it last night for a minute. I have a theory, though, and before we go in there, I feel like I need to take a turn being brave and open and share my heart with you. Is that—Is that okay?”
“You were brave and open when you told me you wanted to take a shower together. And last night when you told me your boundaries. And just now, talking to me about safewords. Not to mention reading those pamphlets so we could be safe and prepared for tonight.  You are brave, and you have nothing to prove to me.  If you need to talk to me, though, I’m right here. And if all we do is talk tonight, that would be okay, too. You know that, right?”
A wide smile spread across Kurt’s face, and he nodded. “I appreciate that, but you and I are taking a shower together, Mr. Anderson.”
Blaine chuckled. “As you wish, Mr. Hummel. Now, tell me what’s on your mind. You get kind of cute when you get nervous.”
Kurt squeezed Blaine’s hand and let out an anxious laugh. “Whew. Okay. I have been a little hard on myself about not telling you. I’ve asked myself a million times why I didn’t, why we didn’t. And while we were dancing tonight, I think I had an epiphany.
“Oh, yeah? And what was it?”
“Last night… Well, last night, we said we were ‘really oblivious,’ and in a way, it’s true. It’s just that I’ve been thinking about it a lot the last 24 hours, and it's so much more than that, so much more profound and deeper with a little reflection.”
“Tell me, please?” Blaine asked quietly.
“I think we always knew. And it’s a testament to how important we are to each other that we were willing to sacrifice part of what we wanted so intensely to keep the amazing foundation of friendship we already had. You are a rock in my life, Blaine, and I’m not embarrassed to say I need you. I love you first and foremost as my best friend, and I always will.”
“You’re my best friend, too, Kurt. I can’t imagine—could never imagine—my life without you in it.”
“Exactly. That’s exactly what I’m saying. And so, on the one hand, it seems ridiculous we didn’t just talk about it. We talk about everything else. Everything. On the other hand… Our friendship will always be first, and this—what we have now—is beautiful and arousing, and god, I want you so badly I feel like I’m on fire. It will never be more important to me than seeing you smile. Or more than knowing that you'll always love me, that you will defend me—even when you know I’m wrong—and that we call each other ten times a day and text non-stop at all hours of the day and night, that we like to bake cookies together and talk about life and our dreams about Broadway. We’ve always accepted each other as perfectly imperfect, Blaine. I wish I could articulate it better.”
Blaine wiped the tears off his cheek. “I think you're articulating it beautifully.”
“I never want to lose you as my best friend, and I needed you to know that before we walked in there. This can’t—” Kurt got choked up, his voice thick with his feelings. “This can’t ever lead to a horrible, nasty breakup, Blaine. We have to promise each other, please, that we’ll do whatever it takes to learn how to communicate with each other and how to grow older and be adults together.”
“I promise, Kurt. Maybe when we go to New York this summer, we should… Maybe we should...”
“What?”
“It might be a good idea for each of us to go to counseling? We’re going to be away from our parents for the first time. Plus, living together. We thought it would be as roommates; now, though, we’ll be boyfriends. And college is going to take its toll. It might be smart to—”
“I agree,” Kurt immediately stated. “Ms. Pilsbury, she pulled me aside a few days ago and suggested it, too. I’m nervous about it. Still, I want to give us our best chance. And I know sometimes I pull away emotionally when I’m overwhelmed. Plus… With the bullying and, well, just everything we’ve gone through... Yeah.”
“Okay. We’ll look into it. We’re going to get this right, Kurt. Sometimes, it’s not going to be easy, and we can’t pretend it will be. We just have to keep doing this, being honest.” He waved between them.
Kurt nodded, his eyes radiating brighter, hopeful at Blaine’s words.
“Best friends, fearlessly and forever then, Mr. Hummel?”
“Fearlessly and forever, Mr. Anderson.”
Neither of them felt the need to fill the next few minutes with words. The anticipation spoke volumes with the way the veins in their throats pulsed, how it was hard to get a deep breath, and the way their palms became clammy. They grabbed their bags, only letting go of each other when strictly necessary to lock up the car. A short walk later, they stepped off the elevator, and Blaine slid the key into the lock of room 305 and opened the door for Kurt. He was shocked when Kurt playfully grabbed his bow tie and pulled him into the room. Letting the door shut behind them, he reached back to bolt it.
One look at each other had Blaine rushing the few feet between them and wrapping Kurt in his arms.
“I love you, Kurt. So much.”
“I love you, too. Hey, Blaine?”
“Yes, Kurt?” Blaine nuzzled into his neck, pressing dozens of kisses in a line up to his ear and loving the faint taste of salt on his skin from all the dancing they’d done.
“I’m going to kiss you now,” Kurt said breathlessly and then couldn’t move. Blaine had kissed a spot behind his ear and then laved his tongue over it, which had rendered him frozen as chills reverberated throughout his body, causing him to break into goosebumps.
Blaine kissed across Kurt's cheek, and with a final gaze, he leaned forward, slid his lips across Kurt’s as they parted, and moaned into his mouth as their curious tongues explored and danced together.  In rising urgency, their jackets were removed and tossed on the chair, fumbling fingers unbuttoned shirts, the fabric cascading to the floor languidly. Their hands meticulously searched the expanse of uncovered skin. A few minutes later, their belt buckles were opened, flies were down, and then they fell into a fit of giggles, trying to take each other’s pants off when they realized their shoes really needed to come off first.
“Since the moment has passed us by, do you mind if maybe—Can I get in the shower first? And then you can join me? I feel gross, and Blaine, I want you to touch me. And I want to touch you and—”
Blaine cut in. “Kurt. Love, it’s fine. That is a good plan. Go ahead.”
“Maybe after I get my shoes off?”
Blaine laughed when he looked down at the tangled mess of chaos at their feet.  “After you get your shoes off,” he replied.
Ten minutes later, Kurt told him it was okay for Blaine to enter the bathroom.
Blaine thought he'd be a nervous wreck, but he realized that he and Kurt were more than comfortable with each other and always had been. Annoyingly, he had to pee, and there was no getting around it, so he used the facilities. They both laughed at how obnoxiously loud and embarrassing something so ordinary was, even though they’d stayed in hotel rooms together before for Glee Club competitions.
“Not sorry!” Blaine said over the running water. “It had to be done some time. I mean, we do it all the time with a flimsy door between us. What’s the difference?”
“None. We don’t need to be shy about our bodies anymore, right?” Kurt said behind the shower curtain. “Or at least we can try.” Kurt laughed. It was the reason he went in there first, and he didn’t even think it was selfish. He couldn’t have found the courage to break that boundary first.
“So, with that romantic segue, may I please get in with you now?”
“Um... Yeah. I mean, I’m hard. Is that okay? It’s just...” Kurt trailed off. “Holy hell! Yes. It’s okay, love.” Blaine was getting that way fast. He took a deep breath and slid the shower curtain back slowly. He almost fell to his knees. “Oh, Kurt... Oh. My. God. You’re so beautiful. I’m—”
At the same time, Kurt said, “Blaine!” He covered his gaping mouth with one hand. “You’re stunning! Wait. Wait. Why are you laughing and crying?” Kurt could see how turned on Blaine was, so he didn’t take any personal offense to it; he just didn’t understand.
“Look at you! I’m crying because I’m in awe and so in love with you. And laughing because this can’t be real. You’re too gorgeous. This is some elaborate dream.”
“I’m looking at you, honey. Not me. Have you seen you?”
Blaine didn’t even register what Kurt said. He couldn’t stop staring as he took in an entirely naked Kurt. The previous night had been marvelous, but this… His brain was short-circuiting. He could see the whole picture now: every muscle of Kurt's body and how they connected in his long, lithe limbs, every purple vein, the dusting of freckles, and the coarse trail of hair he’d gotten a hint at the day before now led down to his perfectly groomed cock that was larger than Blaine had even imagined it would be when he saw Kurt in some of those pants he wore. “I’m Kurtsexual. That is all there is to it.”
Kurt laughed, the water dripping down his face and off his chin. “You’re what?”
“Did I say that out loud?”
“You did, as a matter of fact. Would you like to get in here with me, or should we continue gawking at each other like the awkward teens we are?” Blaine still seemed dazed. “Blaine, look at me. I mean my eyes, please?”
He immediately looked up. “I’m sorry. I’m being rude. You really are magnificent, though.”
“Thank you. I don’t think I mind you looking. Maybe—Can I—Let me wash you? Get in with me?”
Blaine nodded and stepped tentatively into the shower, putting his hands on Kurt’s hips.
Kurt squirted some of the mandarin mint body wash he’d brought for them into his hands and rubbed it into a rich lather. “Can I touch you now?”
“Yes. Whatever you want. We have our safeword, too, right?”
“Right.”
“I’m not going to last. I’m sorry. I think the first time you touch me, I’m going to—”
Kurt leaned his forehead against Blaine’s. “I understand. Believe me, I do. It’s us, sweetheart. We don’t need to be embarrassed or afraid. We have all night. Let’s just let this happen. We don’t have to hold back from each other anymore. Not ever again.”
“Okay,” Blaine whispered.
Kurt watched as he slid his hands down his boyfriend's chest to that perfect “V” and further until he finally brushed his fingertips across Blaine’s sac and then over his thick erection a few times before he wrapped his hand around it and stroked it twice. His thoughts ran wild. Oh, my god. I’m touching Blaine. This is us connected. He feels so incredible. The way he fits in my hand and…
“Mmmnnggh! Oh, Kurt!” Blaine shouted as he threw his arms around Kurt’s neck and buried his head in his neck, cumming all over Kurt’s hand. “So, so… Oh, Kurt!”
“Blaine,” Kurt said desperately, still holding on and stroking tentatively. He’d imagined how it would be to see Blaine and finally touch him.  However, nothing his mind could conjure up had prepared him for the euphoria thrumming through every cell of his body, knowing he’d made Blaine feel that good.
“Don’t let go of me,” Blaine said as he pulled back. “I think I can—Again—Oh, god. Yeah. I can.” He slid his hand down his own chest to pick up some of the lather Kurt had left behind and reached down to touch Kurt’s cock for the first time. He couldn't breathe as he closed his hand around the girth, shocked at how warm and rigid it was. The pulse from the underside vein throbbed against his palm. The smooth texture, how big it was, that it was Kurt. His Kurt that he could touch and worship now. “Love, I want to feel you cum. I want to hear you. Please don’t hold back your noises like last night.” Blaine started to stroke him as Kurt continued to do to him.
“Oh! Oh! Blaine! So damn good. It’s—No one has ever—! Blaine! I’m going to—Blaine!” he called even louder as he spilled white-hot all over Blaine’s stomach and fingers. It feels so different to have someone touch me! Yes! Yes! I love him so much! Seconds later, he shivered as Blaine blurted Kurt’s name as he orgasmed again. Kurt couldn’t help but run his fingers through it, fascinated. Someday, I want to taste it. To think one day we’ll be ready to use our mouths and… Oh, god. Just everything with him. “Mmmm... Blaine!”
They looked at each other, panting, which turned into gazing, checking to make sure they were okay, to see if there were any hidden truths to be found in their eyes. Now that they knew what it looked like to see into each other's souls without holding anything back, they’d never be able to hide again. They had years of experience with that, and neither of them wanted to see that reflected there ever again.
“Love you. Love you,” was whispered between them at the same time as they leaned into each other’s mouths and surrendered to each other. They kissed like that night at the party, and it was a million times better with the validity of the I love yous behind it now. Their bodies pressed together, and hands gripped, pulled, and clung to each other. Permission to mark was given where their clothes would cover it. And they found new joy in taking layers of skin and flesh between their teeth and sucking until it made their boyfriend beg for mercy and more all at once. Kurt chanted his lover’s name as he released between them again by rutting against Blaine’s hip. When the shower ran cold, they wrapped each other in huge, soft towels, never more than a few inches apart as they dried off.
“Oh, freezing! I’m freezing now!” Kurt said, his teeth chattering.
“I happen to have the perfect solution for that!”
“Oh, do you, now?” Kurt asked and laughed.
“Mmhm... Let’s crawl into bed, and I’ll keep you warm and toasty.”
“I love this plan.”
They kissed with wild abandon, rolled and tumbled, and discovered how amazing it was to touch each other again with lube, realized that sex wasn’t just hot; it was also playful and silly. Bodies make strange noises, and they could get limbs tangled up in each other. It was also vulnerable, raw, and full of emotion. It felt like a lifetime of exploration had only begun. With soft touches and hair twirled around fingers while recovering for a little while, they talked about what happened at Prom for a few minutes and then let it go. Instead, they traced shapes on each other’s chests and talked about New York and all the adventures they’d have now with the lens of being together, hopefully forever, which led once more to tear-stained cheeks, and I love yous and words of awe and wonder kissed into almost every inch of their skin.
An hour before the sun rose, they finally surrendered to sleep, not only naked in each other’s arms for the first time but with nothing left unsaid between them and a promise sealed in their hearts that, for the rest of their lives, they'd do their best to keep it that way.

Brittana/Faberry Fic Recs
Hi! Here’s a list I compiled of some of my all time favorite Brittana and Faberry fics! I was originally going to separate the list by Faberry and Brittana, but many of the stories have both, so instead you can just read the pairings listed for each. They are sorted by multi-chapter complete, multi-chapter incomplete/in progress, and one-shots. Each title is a link you can click on to take you to the fic. All credit goes to their respective authors :)
Also, here’s a quick rating guide in case you needed to know:

It was possible she was just seeing things, but still. She pulled out her cell phone, tears running down her flushed cheeks. why don't you vibe with Rachel?
sorry this took a while, anon. i've been trying to figure out how to answer it because the short answer is that rachel tends to awaken a lot of frustration within me if i think about her for too long. i don't really know why i get as heated as i do just with her but it just happens. it's weird because i don't usually have strong negative feelings towards people, so there might be something aside from the more in-depth explanation i wrote under the cut that i just can't put my finger on right now.
rachel is one of the characters in glee whose storylines are regularly shoved in the audience's face, like the writers are trying real hard to get us to care about her. the thing is, though, i could not care less about most of it? i'm generalising a bit but half of her storylines are centered around finchel/her other romantic interests, and the other half is about how she wants to sing this song or play this role and how she deserves the spotlight more than the other glee kids and can't imagine a world where she's wrong about that. and then if it doesn't work out, she gets really overdramatic and we're stuck listening to her complain about things. even in the finchel dynamic, which i am not a huge fan of, a big part of their season 3 storyline is rachel talking about nyada and new york and ignoring all of finn's insecurities about what to do after high school. when puck told finn that he needed to start thinking about himself, i felt that. the fact that rachel treated even her close friends like garbage without even realising it until they stood up to her like kurt eventually did? everything just revolves around her and it's exhausting.
another thing i dislike relates to this gifset i reblogged on my sideblog. rachel gets so much favoritism regarding her singing/talent - it is mainly from schuester, whom i ignore, but it's so blatant. it gets to the point where other characters, particularly mercedes and tina, are used to taking a back seat because "only rachel can do this" and sure, rachel is talented and does put on some great performances, but that statement just doesn't sit right with me. everyone in glee club is talented, but most of them get sidelined in favour of letting rachel perform. i'm tired of seeing it, i'm tired of seeing rachel sing lead in almost every song in competition (with the exception of s2, where she assumed she'd sing the lead and then complained when she couldn't, and s3 sectionals where presumably the only reason she didn't sing was because she was banned from competing in the first place) or yet another solo after every minor inconvenience or argument, i'm tired of hearing her cover songs that don't suit her voice just for the sake of having her sing more, i'm tired of having to watch equally talented characters get pushed down just to stroke rachel's ego. not to mention erasing a bunch of interesting early-seasons friendships and giving them all to rachel instead (quinncedes? kurtcedes?) and of course i blame the writers for this, because they ignored so many characters who had a lot of potential to be interesting in order to let rachel shine more. i understand that with an ensemble cast as big as glee's, it might be harder to write parts that get an equal amount of screen time but you can tell they did not care about most of their characters. and as a result, they highlighted rachel so much that i just have to pretend she does not exist.
also... rachel's casual racism? need i say more? i know there were other racist comments from people like sue but sue is so obviously written as satirical and rachel does not have that same vibe. like that throwaway line to blaine about how they would have "vaguely eurasian-looking children"? as a relatively white-passing eurasian person that line always made me feel weird. or all of her comments towards mercedes. it wasn't really addressed aside from mercedes herself calling out rachel, even if it happened right in front of schue, and i don't appreciate that. there were a lot of double-standards in glee.
last but definitely not least is the part i struggle to put into words. i also might just be remembering some stuff wrong because it's been a while since i've watched through glee and i try to forget a lot of the rachel content anyway, so bear with me. some of my issues with rachel are similar to my issues with finn, in that they both do shitty things and then for the most part, they don't really face the consequences for it. in rachel's case, it does apply more to her high school self, because i do think she grows and faces reality more in the later seasons (ie: broadway and her downfall). Unfortunately for her, though, i tend to rewatch the first 3 seasons and then only pick certain episodes from the latter half of the show, so her high school self is more prominent in my mind. and of course she isn't the only one who does shitty things, 90% of the glee kids and adults have their shitty moments, but at least some of them grow from their mistakes and show proper development (it's not always consistent, but i blame that on the writers once again). with rachel - and maybe i'm just reading it wrong - it feels like her apologies aren't genuine? from what i can remember, they always come after she gets a lot of backlash for her actions or sees that her actions resulted in some shit going down with other people (ie: snitching to finn about the real father of quinn's baby, sunshine & the crack house, ditching funny girl for that tv audition, i'm blanking on other stuff right now) so it gives off the feeling that she's only apologising because people tell her she fucked up and she doesn't like hearing that, and not because she actually feels guilty and wants to do better.
that being said, i don't hate her anymore. at least i don't think so. do i like her? nope. but i've gotten to a point where i can go "yeah that was a sweet moment and i can appreciate that from her" and that's nice, because i really don't want to spend time and energy hating a character on a tv show (especially when there are worse characters on glee lmao). and i'm being very careful about how i portray her in vb au, because i do think that her dynamics with the rest of the team would be really interesting to explore.

I love historical fics, I know about historical!Klaine tag, of course! I already read probably most of them, many on my 'to read' list, but I'm already looking for more. Anything new in this genre in the last few months what is not in the tags? Or maybe something older, less popular, maybe any of your followers know about less popular, not well known historical fics? Maybe something very old with very little feedback, just everything really. I love this genre so much. Thank you all.
The first three fics are newish historical Klaine fics. Many of the others listed are in the library but under a different tag. Make sure you check out the fics with the electronic files included - they were either posted on LiveJournal or removed from the Internet. Full disclosure: I haven’t read them all. - HKVoyage
Pretense and Obsession - Anderovska by @kfs1001
The first sign came with when armed might advanced beyond accepted borders. Confirmation arrived with the signing of a document on the night, when unbeknown to all, three old crones foretold the impending fate. With the might of Imperial France controlling Europe, two former allies shed blood on the vast open steppes. Ships flying the British ensign drop anchor in the harbour of Saint Petersburg intending to rekindle an old friendship. Forces within the Imperial Court of Tsar Aleksandr rally on both sides of a politically charged issue. Within this world of strict social convention and the absolute power of the nobility, the battle lines flicker in the crystal chandeliers of elegant ballrooms. Flamboyant music and the sway of eloquent gowns introduce the son of an Earl to an unprepared Grand Duke.
