Ok so I got into The Magnus Archive a week ago and ooh boy am I hooked! I'm at episode 68 and I can't wait to see how this season is gonna end (idk how long the season is tho).

The only bad thing is that I have to keep myself from interacting with the fandom because I absolutely do not want to get spoiled, so I can't look at all the beautiful fanart and animations that have been made. Can't wait to be far enough in the story to check them all out!

the more I play the more I think lucanis basically knows it's illario who betrayed him right from the beginning (he's had a year in the ossuary to think. not that many people knew where he was going. when you ask him 'did Illario know you'd be on that ship' his only answer is the hardest flattest 'yes' you ever heard). so it's not so much about figuring out who the traitor is (because that's ludicrous. we all know. immediately. they didn't really bother to hide it lmao) as about methodically closing off every single avenue of denial lucanis has clung to that whole time with as much or little gentleness as you might prefer until he has no choice but to admit it. because the moment he has to admit it, he'll have to do something -- feel something -- about it. and that's such a catastrophic event in lucanis' inner landscape (he has had TWO people in this whole entire world up until now and will do anything to hold on to them with a heartbreaking child-like desperation, even at and especially through the detriment of his own self) that he'd rather just. not. what if we quite simply. didn't. what if we just stayed here in the emptiness where we can both pretend you didn't hurt me in a way I should never forgive. I have so much practice in that with caterina already it's always worked out great for everyone so far. (press x to fucking doubt but that's trauma logic for you lol)

after everything illario did, so much of the storm of lucanis' emotions around it is 'what the FUCK did you get yourself tangled up in this time and how do I get you out of this mess safely'. what's worse: the fact that your brother murdered you, or that he put himself in horrible danger doing so and thus exposed you to the risk of losing him forever. lucanis' heart certainly has an opinion here and it's fucking unhinged (affectionate)

the themes of dissociation in lucanis' character in general makes me feel nuts. allllll these contradictory messy things he needs to cut off from each other because they can't coexist or be easily reconciled inside him. but all remain stubbornly true separately anyway and will have their due one day. love and resentment. tenderness and fear and rage. terror and longing. love and freedom don't coexist. the burned out golden child anthem is playing in the background. he was always caterina's favourite and he has to keep striving to deserve that dubious honour with every breath he takes and then, presumably, mercifully, some day he will die and be excused and can rest. and until now he's suppressed all the -- natural, healthy, protective! -- negative feelings that threaten the few attachment relationships he actually has, at the cost of ever actually having his needs for connection and safety met and leaving his core self imprisoned and compromised. and spite goes 'what. no. that's dumb fuck that' (*spite voice* I do not understand that and even if I did I would not respect it) and does not allow him to fall back into that, which I think is what saves his life, ultimately. it took being possessed by a demon for lucanis to even contemplate telling anyone he loves 'no' in any way, but hey. whatever gets you there right lol

lucanis is dealing with the freeze response allll the way down baby. and he was even before the ossuary, that just turbo powered it and brought it to a breaking point way before it could happen naturally. but something was going to break eventually no matter what, and I'm just glad that in the end, through the power of friendship and also pure spite, it doesn't have to be him

#I am worried about him all the time. but also: his found family of godslaying maniacs and also the power of love. there are reasons to hope #when there was only one set of footprints in the sand that was the veilguard party holding lucanis in their arms #and going 'excuse you he said no FUCKING pickles!!!' while he's like '🥺should you guys really be -- ' 'YES'#dragon age #dragon age: the veilguard #dragon age: the veilguard spoilers #dragon age spoilers #lucanis dellamorte #dragon age meta #there's some messiness to his arc but what mary kirby managed to capture here about how this works. is everything to me #he is so exactly for me. I hope WWX hugs back (he will not)#I have a lot more thoughts on Wang Lingjiao and Mianmian but I will keep them for later.#WLJ is a character I feel got done a little dirty because she has a ton of interesting potential that gets pushed aside for Mean Villainess #Let's be fully honest. Wen Chao and Wang Lingjiao are *THE* characters the Protag of one of those 'Reincarnated as the villain!' stories #Set up to be assholes to the main character and meeting a horrible end in retribution.#Do you think MXTX thought about that? Once SCP-1471 is installed in a phone, it will begin to send pictures to the user through text messaging between every 3-6 hours. All pictures will contain some detail of SCP-1471-A, either located in the foreground or background. On the first day, the pictures containing SCP-1471-A would be taken in places that are usually frequented by users in the past. However, after 48 hours, the pictures sent containing SCP-1471-A would be taken in places that were recently visited by the user. After 72 hours, the pictures sent containing SCP-1471-A would be taken of the user in real time, with shots of SCP-1471-A standing in the foreground, background or even behind the user at times. Users who have been exposed to SCP-1471 for more than 90 hours will begin to visualize or see SCP-1471-A in their peripheral vision and reflective surfaces.

#ffxiv #digital art #zenos yae galvus #venat #endwalker spoilers #will forever be fascinated with this man #look guys look- the literal embodiment of wol's wings of hope LOL (and me going hehe about that and footfalls)#the part of me that adores digging into the nuance of character writing (intentional or otherwise) is just latched onto zenos #and venat-- they cant just give us two characters who get really important 1v1 duels #and ask really important questions #and love the MC and are willing to risk themselves so unconditionally #and have them not live rent free in my brain #--and maybe this tiptoes into the realm of crack theory so beware there will be a lot past here--#but I cant help but think zenos is akin to an oracle or warrior of light but was tempered/corrupted by zodiark #or some strange happenstance of varis (who shares visual traits to golbez before 6.0 ever came out and the dark mana burst)#and carosa (who it seems zenos got his looks from- and he already looks like he has ties to venat and argos like minfillia does)#was he a result of the eternal chess match between the two parties' machinations? or just some strange twist of fate?#another day of him being “emet's successful experiment” (again- intentional or no) making me thonk #theres something so strange about the final days dreams and how dark aspected he is- that his void abilities are more tied to him tbh #yet his mannerisms beyond just what he's been through almost reminds me of light corruption and the uncanny calmness #we see in most beings associated with the light in any significant way and like second phase eden shiva #he almost has all the marks of someone who shouldve already had the echo or blessing of light but for one reason or another #was unable to hear hydaelyns call #of course it doesnt help i mentally associate him with connections to zero and how she was corrupted before she was even born #and durante- who states uncanny ability and connection with light and darkness and yet favors dark magic more #i simply live with the idea that zenos' soul was an eternally faithful companion to wol's and #this time the cardinal sin of separating the pair finally happened to rather dire consequences lmao

I don’t know exactly what it was but my first thought seein #the white void was she was appearing to MK in his mindscape to talk to him. so I built on that #I wanted to give him a more ‘Smokey’ look as a shadow just based on how he manipulates them in the show like in shadow play. He is in tune with her.#His understanding of her runs deep and flows through his actions just how devoted he is to her.#Perhaps Lucy wore the necklace he gave her to the oral exam... Not just because it's from someone she loves but #So she could feel him there with her for support. As he has supported her from the moment he found out she was working towards this.#Even when it was killing him inside to do so because of his related trauma.#I don't always communicate through the tags... but when I do--- you can't shut me up 🙃 [and they become quite lengthy]
