I feel like I missed something that everyone else sees. Why do so many people seem to believe [or hope] that Dr. Ratio is from Amphoreus? Like, aside from the greco-roman inspirations I really don't see any other connection, and I just don't think it'd make sense timeline wise if you go off of his character stories. And, in the case of his character stories lying to us or being purposefully misleading [plus all the hoops to jump through to justify it], it feels like that would be extremely cumbersome and unsatisfying from a writing standpoint, so why would you even want that?

If I were to be completely crystal clear, I want Ratio content in Amphoreus (just at all, he doesn't even have to be here) it's because I just really want new actual Ratio content. We haven't seen him since Penacony, unless you count miscellaneous events, but it's almost like Hoyo only half-forgets he exists, if that makes sense.

I also just think it would be pretty interesting if he was, mostly since I'm curious as to how that would be handled in-game. I have my own theories but those are just my thoughts at the end of the day.

I couldn't speak on deeper possible connections as I haven't finished the main quest yet, but details like bathing being extremely important in Okhema culture, and that one enemy having the exact pose as one of Ratios statues, and also most enemies having his same colour pallet. These could obviously just be coincidences since they seem so miniscule, but a lot of people chose to believe they're implications or ties of sorts.

The quests he's been in have mostly been showing a response to some sort of crisis (Ifrit in the Station, Penacony albeit loosely), I personally enjoy trying to understand his motivations and why he's doing whatever he's doing. (Ex. He wasn't just lying to lie during the Station quest, he was showing people that they couldn't rely on the Geniuses during times of crisis and had to help themselves.)

Assuming that that pattern follows, I'd be interested to see what sort of issues are arising in Amphoreus as I assume we aren't done on the planet just yet, so, there's bound to be more conflict that needs settling.

GRAHAM PAYSER IS INSECURE AS HELL

So ive been thinking abt this for some time and i decided i needed to make a post about it bc people were SHOCKED when i pointed it out and like. Is this new???? I thought it was obvious . But if its not, thats what this post is for <3

heres why grahams super insecure actually

Need for Validation

So graham needs attention and validation from other people NONSTOP.

from asking flint to validate everything he just said

to waking up cathal so they'll agree with him

to just seeking people's attention in general.

He cannot just be content with himself on his own, he needs other people to constantly reassure him that he’s right. He claims to be confident but isn’t satisfied with just himself, he needs other people to fill that void

Projecting

The ending cutscene is the biggest case of Graham projecting onto other people AND one of the biggest points where his insecurity shows.

He is EXHAUSTED from his own fight but he can't handle the failure, so he flips everything he's feeling onto the toons instead.

He spends this whole cutscene realizing he's lost and DESPERATELY trying to cover it up because he can't admit defeat, which reeks of insecurity by itself.

It opens with him realizing he's lost and immediately trying to cover up the fact he's upset about it.

He tries to flip the situation and make it seem like the toons lost the fight and puts them down for it because he doesn't want to put HIMSELF down. He doesn't even allow himself to fail, he has to be perfect.

He also straight up lies here. Graham was putting his ALL into this fight, proven by how he collapses from exhaustion at the end. There are no other forms, he wasn't getting started. He was trying his very best and still failed and that destroys him. Again, he can't handle the failure so he just. Lies at this part.

More projecting and trying to make it out as if the toons lost . He himself desperately needs a breather because he burned himself out, but again, he can't handle that fact because he's desperate to be perfect.

Not the ending cutscene but another point worth mentioning in terms of projecting. He brags about burning out the toons yet has a habit of burning HIMSELF out.

The fact he collapses at the end of his fight means he overworks himself to the absolute limits in desperation to be the best. If he's really so great, he shouldn't have to try so hard to prove it. Which brings me to the next point

Trying Too Hard

Someone who is genuinely content with themselves shouldn’t feel like they have to PROVE they are content, yet that’s what Graham constantly does. He is always trying so hard and putting on a show for the people around him to PROVE that he’s confident.

Someone who feels good about themselves shouldn’t have to shove that fact down everyone’s throats. This drives back to the validation point in which he needs people to pay attention to and validate him.

Fantasizing About Success

Graham obsesses over a better version of himself despite claiming to be so confident with who he is currently.

He's not satisfied with where he currently stands. He craves more power, attention and success because he is insecure with where he is now. There's no reason for someone so supposedly confident and perfect to be chasing after a better version of themselves.

Can't Admit Failures

Touched on this earlier with the projecting. Graham insists he's perfect and anytime he fails it immediately makes him panic. Someone who's happy and content with themselves should also be able to accept their flaws, but that's not what Graham does.

When his position for the job is threatened, he immediately loses it.

When he loses his fight, he immediately scrambles for excuses and some way to put himself back on top.

Graham may have a huge ego, but it's a fragile one at that.

Graham’s confidence is a facade. This isn't to say he's doing it intentionally; I honestly think he isn't even aware of his insecurity and genuinely believes he is confident and above others. But people like Graham will often obsess over the IDEA of being confident and above others because they lack it in reality. It’s not just a facade to convince others he’s on top, it’s also to convince HIMSELF he’s on top.

TLDR; oh hes a little fucked up actually.

Maybe hearing about the new trailer of the silent hill 2 remake will put my mind in gear to keep writing (a recent comment motivated me to write most of a next chapter at least), but hate this remake more than any other. I've avoided hearing or seeing anything about it because it makes me so upset and angry. I hate the trend of remaking these games. It's so shallow and a passionless money making scheme bc companies are too scared to do anything original so they go and fuck up a perfectly good game instead. From the little I've seen I'm amazed they've somehow made it look worse than the original. Sure the in game model James looks pretty busted in the original but all the prerendered cutscenes are great and then they put out this crisp ugly shit instead?? Being able to see characters' pores and having "good graphics" means fuck all if you miss the point of the story. You know why the originals were good? Because people had an idea and a passion and they had to put together something that didn't need good graphics to sell.

If anyone comes here from a03 I just want to emphasize that everything has been written and inspired from the original games. I despise the remakes and how they've butchered the original material. Everytime I see something else from the remakes I hate it more. There was nothing wrong with the original. Just fucking remaster it ffs.

awwwww you think my shit is amazing and want writing tips from moi WOW I shall do my best since I still find my smut skills a bit iffy so some of the stuff I may say I might not even do but we shall see anyways.

READ SMUT: I think the thing that got me to write smut is just the fact that I wank a lot and read a shit ton of smut. therefore I internalise what I read more, and see the common phrases, tropes, plots, that other writes use that I can infuse into my writing. and no im not saying plagiarise and copy ect but im just saying the more you read, the easier it is to write.

USE A PLETHORA OF VERBS: so basically when it comes to me writing any type of fingering or like dick in the v a g i n a scene like try out using a variety of verbs to make your works more descriptive. my trusty little bag of verbs is mainly: charges, drives, forces, pushes, inserts, thrusts ect.

DIALOGUE: to make ur smut a bit more wordy and not as boring, use dialogue, since people talk when they fuck (surprise surprise) it doesn't even have to be a proper convo if you aren't into writing dirty talk and shit but just moans and groans and like gasps like some form of written audio to go along with the visuals.

MAKE SURE IT FLOWS: like try and find some form of the flow so the smut doesn't read as awkward, like if you're doing a short snapshot smut (like what I do in my "when you have sex..." series )then thats fine but in like actual smut fics, you dont need to have a serious plot BUT it does make it better to read when theres some form of flow. such as including some type of foreplay, then get them to fuck ect. and if ur doing a pure smut fic and struggling to find a plot, think of cheesy porn plots LIKE OLD ASS PORN PLOTS like the pizza delivery man that you want to tip but you end up taking his tip (hehehe im funny right) or like the plumber thats supposed to unplug ur sink but plugs up with pussy instead (am I eating with these or nah omg)

East of Eden - John Steinbeck The humanity of this book is what got to me. I couldn't imagine reading another book when I finished this one, I felt bereft and that odd sense of loss that comes at the conclusion of a story with characters you deeply love. Not to mention that the Kathy angle made sections feel straight out of a modern day thriller.

H is for Hawk - Helen MacDonald.. to intertwine a memoir of grief and loss with a th white biography and a large measure of birding knowledge is quite the feat. But that sounds too pat an answer. I'll quote my goodreads review for this: This book felt like me sharing something that lurks so deep inside my heart, so carefully protected, so strewn with feelings like vines and bits of moss that shake off as I hold it out. It felt like sharing that something and absolutely, 100%, knowing that the recipient understood, with every fiber of their being.

Survival in Auschwitz - Primo Levi. Please, this isnt just what you think it is. It is that and more. Levi's words will leave you spellbound and aching and hopeful and everything in between.

Dandelion Wine - Ray Bradbury. As with most of my favorites, this is sublime writing that makes me long for a time i am too young to have experienced. Utterly gorgeous.

Provinces of Night - William Gay. This was my first William Gay novel and I am slowly making through them all. Southern Gothic with such elegant prose. I want to write like him. A negative review called Gay's work "novels with poems scattered about weak plots" and frankly? that's what i love? so good job you sold me

Microserfs - Douglas Coupland The author of my 20s. His stuff opened me up to fiction about real people with real feelings thinking the things you do in your head. The unbearable loneliness of the human condition and the wondrousness that is friendship. I am not a rereader but ive read this book at least five times. I have no idea if it has aged well, i do not care.

The Chronicles of Amber - Roger Zelazny. Something about this urban? fantasy grabbed me in a chokehold and never let go. I first read this at the beach, paging through dog-eared paperbacks a friend urged me to read. I barely left the deck that week. The traveling into Amber, the walking of the Pattern - these things will never leave me.

Lonesome Dove - Larry McMurtry Look yes it's a western but it's The Western for a reason. Characters that seep into your bones. The image of lightning dancing across a steer's horns remains as vivid as when i read the book 3+ years ago.

Station Eleven - Emily St. John Mandel Something about how this post-pandemic story is paced, something about the stakes of it and how they will differ from any other post-apocalyptic book you've ever read, stuck with me. There was a simple beauty here that I never want to let go of.

in the west end/toronto Show Me Love, William started giving a tour of paris. i dont know the exact words for the first bit, but this is how the interaction went:

in the Juliet/Frankie interaction, after Overprotected ends (Francois is cut off by Lance, which is why in the recordings he says 'hello' at the end), Lance comes in with Madeline* (insert some french last name idk), a princess that Lance wants Francois to marry. the interaction goes something like this:

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I think 16

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

535,969. Most of that is from my longest fic tbh.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I actively write for BHNA and FMA. I also have a crossover with Death Note, and have written for Les Mis (crossover) and Naruto too. When I was younger I wrote a fic for Undertale and a couple for Avengers which I've now orphaned since I know I won't be continuing with those fandoms or fics.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Eraserhead - 8153 (BNHA fic)

the tin can man - 3124 (BNHA and FMA crossover/fusion fic)

not the first time (but hopefully the last) - 985 (BNHA fic)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do my best to within a couple of days on my actively updating long fic. I try to respond on my other fics too but because those fics aren't at the forefront of my mind sometimes it takes me until the next update to get around to responding.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I would say not the first time (but hopefully the last) since even though the ending is sort of hopeful, it's definitely still angsty.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Eraserhead? It's a crack fic but like All For One retires to become a botanist by the end so I'd say that's a plus.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I actually have done before. When I was eleven on ff.net I wrote a twilight fic and decided that speech marks were too much effort to bother with. Definitely regretted that choice and received some pretty cruel feedback for it. Eleven year old me definitely learned a lesson that day.

Since then I've not really gotten hate hate, but there have definitely been a few comments that have been a little negative about my choice of plot device or something like that which is okay. It's not something I take to heart (and sometimes the advice is good.)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I've never written smut and tbh I probably never will because I find romantic relationships the hardest to write!

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I write quite a lot of crossovers. In terms of craziest it would have to be the tin can man because that's just become a thing unto it's own.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Same as above!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Never! I'd like to say I'd be open to the idea but tbh I'd probably have a lot of trouble sticking with it as my schedule is all over the place.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I think Erasermic just for the comfort.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

When The Rain Falls. I've got so many other projects going on its just fully on the back burner at this point. I would like to finish it so I might just devote a month to writing solely that and get it to some sort of conclusion, but we'll see.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I would probably say characterisation and plotting/world building. I do think my dialogue can be quite good but it depends how invested in the scene I am. I'm definitely better at writing angst than regular conversation.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I don't have a beta reader and I have a tendency to skim read so I know I post chapters with mistakes even after combing through them. Plus I'm impatient, so it'll be little things like words missed out of a sentence that my brain has automatically filled in, in my rush to get it published! I think also I make my sentences too wordy and quite often can't seem to find the right structure. Like I know what I want to say but I can't get it onto the page in the right order.

Also I think my plots can become a bit too unwieldy meaning I have to work very hard to keep up with all my odds and ends of character arcs and plot devices etc. which is also fun!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I personally wouldn't as I don't want to make a fic less accessible and I don't trust myself to get it right. French is the only other language I have enough understanding in that I probably could muddle my way through finding the correct grammar etc but I don't want my readers having to break out google translate for my fics.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

That would have to be Twilight when I was eleven.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

the tin can man - a BNHA and FMA crossover. It's everything to me and I've put so much of myself into it. I know I'm going to finish it, even though it is a huge project. I have adhd and anxiety and so projects for me are difficult and even just finishing it would be amazing so I can prove to myself that I can do it!

ngl the ending had me tearing up a little. to have Cheng Xiaoshi get shot in the tunnel but GET UP. it felt like an even bigger victory than how it was in the actual show! to have them fight together and Cheng Xiaoshi still be such a capable fighter and after the fight still be STANDING, after like 19 deaths!! listen you can't see it but i'm squished right in the middle of their hug at the end. i'm there too, also crying

there were many good lines in this fic but this one is the one that stood out the most to me: "No matter what he says, there is still blood on the floor and not in Cheng Xiaoshi’s body. No matter how he begs, there is light in the tunnel above his head and not in Cheng Xiaoshi’s eyes. No matter what he wants, his heart is still beating and Cheng Xiaoshi’s has stopped." lot of good repetition and figurative language. super evocative without having to be overly wordy. i'm upset i had to read it with mine own two eyes

i went back to watch wano after catching up (im like halfway through the arc) and genuinely the animation is so good!! (its also rly funny because they made zoro super sexy at every opportunity.. they upped his fanservice by a million. i love it. as a zoro fan.) its probably worth it to watch the anime for that part if ur interested?? although the pacing is still super slow so it might be better to read the manga first and THEN watch wano if ur still hyperfixated on one piece at that point. i went back to wano cuz i was feeling sad about being caught up and not having any more content to consume.

ive seen clips of the fights and they look so fantastic and cool and hype and AGH . i havent gotten to any big fights yet but its been a lot of fun seeing the characters all colored and .. moving. its also kind of sad to watch though cuz you can TELL some of the voice actors are really struggling. my love franky.. i love his voice acting but he sounds so rough in wano :((. his is probably the most obvious example but if u pay attention u can tell with most of the voice actors who've been doing the show for a long time.

i havent watched the live action because netflix sucks (i dont live with the account owner currently and i HAVE TO if i want to use netflix) but i have seen how many people have gotten into one piece bc of it, and i have seen a lot of clips. and i know people love it and its very highly regarded. (also i kinda love what they did with sanji (i miss his twirly eyebrows though 😭)) so i have a lot of respect for it despite never watching it myself!! im also so excited for "the one piece" bc even though i know next to nothing about it, if its adapting this wonderful universe full of lovable characters in a way that actually HELPS the manga rather than HURTS it.. well. how could i complain.

i DO think u got into one piece at a really good time!! ive heard a lot of "if you want to get into one piece, this is your last chance" and "now is the best time to start one piece" and i think theyre right. although hearing its your "last chance" is kind of anxiety inducing personally LOL. i think itll be really difficult to avoid spoilers after the series ends though so in that sense.. theyre probably correct. at the pace youre going i dont think one piece will end before you catch up. oda's on a 3 week break right now too so imo you have plenty of time!! i think wano is about 150 chapters and theres a LOT going on so it might take you a while, but this is the final SAGA not the final arc dont worry!! im picturing the straw hats visit at least 2 more islands after the current arc. although obviously im not oda so i have no idea if thats accurate LOL

i think no matter what im gonna feel like i have questions unanswered when one piece ends, just cuz i am so insanely invested in . the whole world of one piece. i want to know everything about everything. but i DO think oda will answer the big questions, and i agree that he probably wont just leave us wondering. the newest arc is already kind of answering a lot of questions (and... developing MORE mysteries LMAO)

i hope i didnt make you feel like its WRONG to like sanji bc it isnt!! just cuz i cant get behind him doesnt mean that i think people who like him are bad people or anything remotely like that. i mean. i love doflamingo. and hes an AWFUL person. i hate his guts... but i love him. hes such an interesting character and i want to dissect him and analyze him and . i love to think about him. and hes comforting in some weird way.

so u loving sanji is no issue!! i dont want u to feel like u have to defend urself (although i DO like hearing ur reasoning behind why you like him because its interesting, and it makes me think harder about how i feel about him).

also personally i dont see an issue with consuming media that is problematic in some ways. if the creator is a bad person i think its fine as long as ur not excusing their actions!! i would kind of rather not support oda because i dont like him as a person (which is a personal decision, im not gonna criticize people who support him financially), but i do LOVE one piece and yes. his biases DO affect the story.. but since i dislike oda i usually say "fuck the word of god" and do what i want with the characters. i think its a lot more fun that way!!

sanji is such a mess (affectionately) so i can definitely see the appeal!! half the reason i love one piece characters so much is bc theyre all so SILLY. so unbearably silly. they all have stupid moments, they all have funny moments, and i adore silly people. my dislike for sanji is, mostly, resentment borne out of my intense hatred for being pushed into a box by society. it is almost purely personal. like yes him being a pervert is disgusting and annoying and i hate it, but i think i would be able to ignore it if i didnt feel so personally attacked??? by him?? LOL. i think thats kind of silly tbh . i would usually be able to brush his pervertedness off as a flaw of oda's rather than something to blame sanji for. but since i already have some ... *intense* feelings towards him, the pervert thing just serves to fuel my anger.

but all of that is just My Personal Feelings about him!! i do love him in headcanon/fanon most of the time, and even if i hate him in canon i still also love him purely because hes a straw hat and i love and adore all of the straw hats. they feel like real people to me. and i am obsessed with them. i root for them at any chance and i believe they will find the one piece... if they werent the main characters and therefore guaranteed to find the one piece i would still believe in them 1000%!! <- big nerd thing to say .

also one thing i wanted to ask u about is if u noticed the parallels during whole cake island between sanji taking luffy food and the flashback of sanji taking sora food?? i LOVED that moment. he runs through the rain, has to try to keep a dog from eating the food, and when he finally gives it to the person its all soggy and wet and he apologizes. but they say its delicious. and they smile. i KNOW he was thinking of his mom at that moment with luffy. and i just... ugh.. sanji . sobbing . maybe u talked about rhis and i just missed it but I NEED to know that u saw it.. my favorite sanji lover

YEA THE VOICE ACTORS MANNN 😭 I prefer the dub bc i actually like everyone’s voices and its what im used to (except luffy, i do prefer sub for him) but i know the og voice actors are getting up there in age…Part of the reason i don’t like the sub as much is bc you can tell the VA’s are way older than the characters they’re voicing and it’s just a bit. Odd (as much as i love the VAs and obvi it’d be weird to change it at this point)

netflix does suck !!!! i was living with my bro at the time so i watched it on his account but yea i dont have access to watching it anymore either :( taz skylar my fucking beloved. The live action cast is all insane. Theyre so cute and funny every single one of them. If u have extra time u should watch all the funny cast videos they did on youtube where they play charades and do little prompts together. The clips of them interacting at cons and out doing promo for the show is usually pretty cute too. Opla wasnt perfect or necessary but it was fun as hell and u can tell the showrunners had a passion for the show.

The similarities between their characters is insane (oda / araki crossover event when,) 

The only difference is that doffy is written to be downright evil, while sanji is supposed to be seen in a good/humorous light even though his worst jokes are uh. And tbh i dont blame you at all for disliking his (or any) character for personal reasons. Its really not that silly. What would you like to see in CC3?

I’ll be honest the series is kind of confusing to me. There’s just a lot of information and very fast paced. So I’m just hoping for good explanations and descriptions but not like overly wordy or run ons.

And now adding the cross over I’m just hoping it’s not too much.

I hope it’s done well and not just a word jumble but I’m not sure how that’s possible. It’s like untangled a web of knots you know?

Also hoping to like a few of the characters more than I do now ..

I never really felt any love for Danika. Like I really thought she was a terrible friend and Sarah used to as like a scapegoat to explain everything.

And now Lydia. I want to love the romance and action and just overall her plot/storyline but as of now I don’t. I love Ruhn 100% but I really hope I warm up to Lydia

We all know that if there is one thing that SJM excels at are dramatic finishes.

The only problem is--like you said--I dont think that the book is nowhere near done. She's had everything from lady dragon, to enslaved oracles, to the Asteri, to the crossover, and 79845834758997 other things happening.

I suspect the series isnt going to be over with the upcoming book.

There are too many storylines which haven't even been addressed yet--the Autumn king in general, the human rebellion, all the love stories, etc. And i feel like the Asteri are the big bad of the entire SJM universe--so I doubt that they will be defeated with some friendship bracelets, a flying pony and Rhys picking lint off his trousers.

I imagine we'd get one more book at least, or maybe 2 in the CC universe.

Let's not forget that she needs to add a bunch of bad smut in there, and of course at least one mate bond, maybe two, therefore, I just can't see how it could all be wrapped up in one book.

Danika might be one of the worst characters ever. she is awful.

Any advice for getting into art school or what its like when you get there?

i gotta be honest i still have no idea if i did the whole Art School Thing correctly. i have had a c's get degrees experience w school lets say.

but honestly grades in art school dont super matter i think it's valuable to just put your efforts into learning what you want from every class (animation employers dont care about your gpa lol) and just worry abt doing what it takes to pass. and dont let crunch culture get its claws in you. have a hobby where u go outdoors

in terms of getting in:

if theres a portfolio day event in your city, or some other opportunity to speak with / show your stuff to the admissions ppl from the schools you're applying for, you should make sure to go, its just nice to get more personalized info abt what you need to submit

if you have no idea what you wanna do community college art classes are great. i went to cc part time for 2 yrs before going to mcad, it was just nice to still work on art while figuring out where i wanted to go

mcad was my liike 3rd choice safety school that i went to for financial reasons and i still had a good experience. its very true that art school is what you make of it
