Help me decide what to work on! (Teen Wolf WIPs)

So after getting some input from this post yesterday, I have picked a few fics for a new fanfiction poll. This poll is going to be a week long poll because during that week I am going to do more editing on Part Two of I'm Not Angry (Anymore) and hopefully finish it before I get started on a new Teen Wolf Fic. And I'll also be rewatching through Teen Wolf in the meantime to help with my inspiration.

Here is a rundown of the choices (I would appreciate it if you read this before voting on the fics, but you don't have to):

IDEA #2 - Truth Or Dare - Stiles Stilinski x Fem!Thick!Reader. Friends to Lovers. Quizilla Classic Tropes, Extreme Fluff, Romcom Romance, Getting Together. Set during Season 1. One night when Allison invites you and Lydia over for a sleepover, Stiles and Scott can’t resist the urge to crash the party with visions of slutty pjs and giggly pillow fights in their heads. They are surprised to find that Jackson is already there (at Lydia’s request) bringing the girl’s booze, and even though Allison tries to get everyone to leave, Lydia ropes the gang into a classic game of Truth or Dare. And when you’re dared to kiss Stiles in front of the whole group, an embarrassing disaster ends up turning into the best night of your life. (7,000 words est.) (A/N: This is something that Star requested and I ran with it because I love Truth or Dare in fics so much. I love the whole ‘cheesy high school romance’ aspect of this. I think it would be really fun to write, but idk if a lot of people would read it.) 

IDEA #3 - Bark Like You Want It - Isaac Lahey x Fem!Thick!Reader. Acquaintances to Lovers. Smut/PWP. Set during Season 3, Episode 4. When you and Isaac are sentenced to detention together restocking the janitor’s closet, something very dangerous happens when the two of you get locked inside - his predictable claustrophobic panic attack turns into something much more primal and much more hormonal when he catches a whiff of your scent in the confined space. And next thing you know, he’s humping your leg like… some kind of dog. (9,000 words est.) (A/N: This is one that I have had in my drafts for a while that I really want to finish. Isaac is my desperate puppy and him panting and whining after being stuck in a closet… it always gets to me.) 

IDEA #6 - Untitled aka ‘Jasmine and Sweat’ - Sub!Allison Argent x Dom!Fem!Werewolf!Reader. Smut/PWP. When the full moon falls on Halloween, you end up losing control of your powers and sniffing out the smell of someone irresistible - Allison, who happens to be on a run through the woods, unknowingly isolating herself in the perfect place to be caught by a predator. Would include knife kink and NonCon/DubCon. (5,000 words est.) (A/N: This was supposed to be part of a multi-part Halloween fic that never came to fruition, but I really like the concept I had for this one, so I would love to turn it into a oneshot.) 

IDEA #11 - Aim and Ignite (Sequel to Why Am I The One?) - Isaac Lahey x Fem!Reader. Exes to Lovers. Emotional Angst, Romance, Supernatural Elements. Set during Season 3. When you wake up to a cold bed after unexpectedly spending a night with your ex, you are insulted, and determined to talk to him about it. Even though he keeps dodging your attempts to talk to him, you get him alone, and then - you unknowingly get pulled into a tangled net that involves human sacrifices, rituals, and dangers you never could have predicted. (20,000 words est.) (A/N: When I was thinking about continuing this… I did not expect that a sequel would have basically no smut and a lot more plot stuff, but I really love this idea, even though it is going to take a lot of effort to write, and it’s probably going to be one of those ‘oneshots’ that spirals out of control and inevitably ends up as more.) 

IDEA #12 - Untitled aka ‘The One Where Stiles Wears Panties’ - Sub!Stiles Stilinski x Dom!Fem!Reader x Dom!Isaac Lahey. Established Relationship Inviting Someone New. Smut/PWP. Set during Season 3. One day when Stiles believes that he is alone in the boy’s locker room, he strips down without hesitation, almost forgetting about the fact that he’s wearing a pair of panties that you got for him and encouraged him to wear. And he’s shocked and embarrassed when Isaac emerges from the showers and begins mercilessly mocking him for the lace that’s covering his cock. When Stiles tries to excuse the underwear away by saying that you made him wear them, Isaac’s taunting soon turns into condescending flirting, and Isaac soon plots to get in on the action. (10,000 words est.) (A/N: This would be set in the same universe as Brainwashed and Stupid For You, but it’s not necessarily a sequel to those fics. This is just another one of those fics that’s just an excuse for smut, but in this case, it’s an excuse for me to write about Isaac and Stiles’s dynamic, which is so underrated when it comes to smut and I love it so much.)

My Top 10 Fics Of 2024

So, I have decided that I am gonna do the same thing that I did last year because I had so much fucking fun with this last time and it's a great way to look back and reflect on all the hard work I have done this year. And I am counting these down not based on statistics - not how many likes these posts have or how 'popular' they are, but based on how much I like them, and I get to really reflect on how writing these fics made me feel. And that is truly the most important part of fanfiction - how much fun I am having. So I am really happy and excited to reflect on all the awesome stuff I have written this year.

And I think a really great sign is that I had an incredibly difficult time with this year's ranking. Because I wrote so many amazing fics that I had so much fun with. Even if I had a really (not so fun) incident where I came very close to quitting fanfiction altogether, I had a lot of fun, and I wrote a lot of amazing things that I am so fucking proud of. And I'm only including fics in this ranking that I have posted (which is why I strategically waited until after certain fics were posted to write and make this ranking) - and not even including ones I have written and not yet posted, which are also fics I absolutely fucking love. So even if this year may not have been great for my mental health or my physical health, this year was a year where I felt great and comfortable and happy as an artist.

Anyway, here's the ranking!!

This year I posted 20 different fics consisting of over 250,000 words - and that is not including the fics I have not edited and the unfinished WIPs I have in my drafts.

Honorable Mentions:

Meddle About - Sub!Spencer Reid x Dom!Fem!Reader (6,300 words). I was slightly conflicted about if I should put this on the list or not, because currently, this is (in terms of statistics) the most popular fic on my blog right now, and usually when a fic is super popular, I am less inclined to like it. But this list is supposed to be strictly about how I feel about my fics and the experience I had while writing them. And I did really enjoy the experience of writing this fic - it was really fun to write something absolutely kinky and filthy and to write a fic that was so truly stuck in my head. I had a lot of fun with it.

The Restricted Section - Dom!Hermione Granger x Sub!Fem!Reader x (Secret Voyeur) Harry Potter (4,400 words). This is one of my absolute favourite fics that I have written this year, and it just didn't make the top ten because other fics were more my favourite. I loved writing this because it was such a fun PWP and it was one of those instances where I had the idea and then the fic was posted like a day later. It's a lot of fun.

Tongue Twister - Sub!Gar Logan x Dom!GN!Reader (2,000 words). This is one that I actually forgot that I wrote this year - it feels like so long ago lmao. But I really loved it when I wrote it, I love it now. I will always love Gar so much, and I love writing slutty fics about him.

Eager Little Puppy - Sub!Isaac Lahey x Dom!GN!Reader (2,700 words). This is by far one of my favourite things I have written this year - Isaac is one of my new favourite characters, and I have absolutely loved writing about him (and I look forward to writing more about him in the future). This is just a representation of how much I love him.

One Moment Per Episode With Dick Grayson - Dick Grayson x Fem!Reader (8,300 words). This is another one that I forgot was from this year because it feels like so long ago. I really fucking love the concept and I really, really want to continue it further in 2025 (feel free to send me messages if you are excited about it and want to see more, because I would like to set aside some specific time to work on it). Anyway - I really love the start of it and I really love what I have planned for this fic in the future.

Now, onto The Top Ten:

10. Precious Time Alone (aka The Knot Fic) - Gar Logan x Fem!Reader (11,800 words)

Even with the ability to see the future, you never would have guessed that your life would lead you to falling in love with the perfect man - someone sweet, caring, funny, cute. Someone with the passion and fire to protect the ones that he loves no matter what. A precious guy with green hair who had the ability to transform into a tiger at will. And when you finally made love to him for the first time, you never could have guessed how that unique ability affected his sex life. You weren’t exactly complaining, but you wished you had seen this coming. At the end of the day, it was just another thing about him to love. Or - Neither you nor Gar knew that he has the ability to knot, and you both find out for the first time when you have sex together. Gar Logan x Fem!Powered!Reader. Established Relationship. Smut/PWP. Set during Season 2, Episode 9.

It's such an interesting coincidence that both this year and last year, the number ten slot contains a Gar fic that is a re-make/re-post. I have a lot of fics that are only on AO3 and not on Tumblr, and I highly recommend that you check out my AO3 for that reason, but if I am transferring a fic from AO3 to Tumblr, I love to go through and do some edits on it and see how I can improve it before I post it again.

I absolutely loved this fic when I first posted it, and I love it even more with the edits - including the new scene that I added. It is such a fun idea that could be considered Crack Fic (so often, I write Crack Fic concepts but I treat them seriously) - the idea that Gar has a Knot because he is 'an animal' (or because he has animal DNA). It's such a funny idea, but it was fun and hot to write porn about it.

I love this fic, and if it is your thing and you would enjoy reading it, I hope that you enjoy it too.

9. The Way You Miss Me - Fred Weasley x Fem!Reader (18,500 words)

Fred broke up with you. He made it clear that he was going to have a new life when he opened his shop, and he didn’t need you to be a part of it. You being stuck on him was just another joke in a long line of pranks that he pulled. And life kept on laughing at you when your fear of heights was triggered by a potentially life ending mission the Order put together that had you dangling hundreds of feet over London, held up only by Fred’s strength and determination. So what does it mean when the two of you land, and he’s the only thing that can stop your shaking panic? What does it mean when he’s looking at you with nothing but love in his eyes, holding you tight like a lover would? Fred Weasley x Fem!Reader. Exes to Lovers. Emotional Angst and Smut. Set during Deathly Hallows.

This fic is one of the reasons that the ranking was so difficult. This one got moved around a lot because I had so much fun writing it and working on it. I am also super proud of this fic because originally, the idea was going to be part of a much longer fic, and I am so glad that I was able to pull off the emotions and the tone that I wanted in a much shorter word count that took me a lot less time. It makes me incredibly proud of myself - that I don't feel like I have to spend months and months on an idea in order to truly pull it off.

I fucking love this fic and I am so happy with how it turned out.

8. Why Am I The One? - Isaac Lahey x Fem!Reader (15,200 words)

Isaac loves you. He loves you more than anything else in the world - which is exactly why he has stayed away from you for so long. But when Derek kicks him out onto the street in the pouring rain with absolutely no warning and no reasoning as to why, Isaac has nowhere else to go. He could claim that he sought you out because you’re close by, because he knows that you won’t turn him away in his time of need - but deep down, it’s because he misses you. And staying away from you for so long is the hardest, stupidest thing he has ever done. Isaac Lahey x Fem!Reader. Exes to Lovers. Smut and Emotional Angst. Set during Season 3, Episode 4.

Again, this is one that made the ranking very hard. I enjoyed the process of writing this so fucking much. I was immediately inspired when I saw the episode, and as soon as I saw it, I started working on this fic - the imagery of Isaac so slutty in his white shirt sparks the temptation to write smut, but I love the emotional depth of him being a literal kicked puppy (after being kicked out by Derek) and being emotionally vulnerable and needing some place to go and someone to turn to. It is literally a perfect recipe for the kind of smut I write - super hot sex with emotional depth because one of the characters is feeling vulnerable. It's perfect.

This fic is exactly what I wanted it to be when I set out to write it, and I especially loved exploring Isaac's grief for Erica (which is by far not explored enough in the show) and I might do a continuation of it in the future, I'm not sure. Either way, I think it's fantastic, and it definitely deserves a spot on this list.

7. She Keeps Me Up - Dom!MILF!Jennifer Jareau x Sub!Fem!Reader (3,100 words)

JJ is protective of you. When you offer yourself up as ‘bait’ to lure in an UnSub who is killing women of your type, she protests endlessly about it - but ultimately she can’t stop you. She can, however, possessively lay her claim on you when you get back from the ordeal with nothing more than a tiny scratch. Dom!Jennifer Jareau x Sub!Fem!Reader. Established Dom/Sub Relationship. Smut/PWP.

Like I said, this list is all about reflecting, and I was considering wiping all Criminal Minds fics off this list because of the experience that I had - but that wouldn't be fair to my past self or fair to my art. Especially because this is one of my favourite fics I have ever written and whenever I listen to the song that I titled it for, I still have incredibly fond memories of writing this fic.

I think that MILF!JJ is my favourite version of JJ, even though - ironically - I haven't seen a lot of the later seasons. But way too many people obsess over Professor Reid and Grey Haired Prentiss (who I also love, don't get me wrong) - but I think there is not enough love for MILF!JJ. Not by far. I want to be her controversially younger girlfriend.

I actually have something in my drafts that is MILF!JJ centric, and if I finished it, it would be the only thing that could get me to stray back into the Criminal Minds fandom. I am so down bad for JJ, it's not even funny. (So - if you wanna see more of her, feel free to come in my inbox and let me know.)

6. Blood In The Water - Void!Stiles Stilinski x Fem!Reader (11,700 words)

Being Stiles’s best friend, you are incredibly worried about him when you figure out that he is quite literally not himself - and that the thing currently occupying his body could be destroying it in the process. When you approach him to show this concern, Void takes a particular interest in you. He’s not capable of love, or even fondness, but he likes you. And he likes the way your fear spikes when you talk about Stiles. So he makes you a deal - he’ll agree to take care of this fleshy, mortal host, in exchange for something more precious, more rare, and more delicious than the meal you have brought for Stiles. He wants your pain. He wants your tears. Void!Stiles Stilinski x Fem!Reader. Pining Best Friends. Extreme Emotional Angst, Hurt No Comfort. Set during Season 3 (with flashbacks to Season 1, Episode 11).

Another one that made the ranking so hard. This fic was so much fun to write, because as I said in the A/N for it - I fucking love writing villains. I love writing characters who are absolutely unambiguously evil. I do think it's a big of a shame that the recent cultural shift is to write villains as morally ambiguous or to take characters who are evil (or morally grey shifting more towards 'bad' in the canon) and soften them up so much in fanfiction to make it seem like they did nothing wrong.

A lot of people write Void as one of those "he is bad but he won't hurt me because he loves me uwu" characters and I really don't like that - because I want to write him as a character who is absolutely fucking incapable of love. He does not know love, he doesn't know what it is, and he has absolutely no softness or fondness for any person.

I really want to write a sequel to this fic - I have one drafted out that I think would be so fucking good - and I think I want to make it one of my goals for 2025 to complete and post the sequel. Anyway, just this fic as it is, I fucking love it, and I had such a fantastic time writing it.

5. Downhill - Draco Malfoy x Fem!Reader (20,100 words)

Draco knows his place in the world. He is a Malfoy, he is Pureblood. He is supposed to marry, carry on the Pureblood line. He is supposed to do everything that his parents would - including killing, if it’s what his Dark Lord wishes. Draco Malfoy is not supposed to hesitate. He is not supposed to feel fear. He is not supposed to have room in his heart for fondness, or even love. Not even when it comes to his bartered and bought fellow Pureblood fiancee. Love is nothing but a weakness. And Malfoys are not weak. Draco Malfoy x Fem!Reader. Arranged Marriage/Hesitant Lovers. Emotional Angst and Smut. Set during Half-Blood Prince.

This is one of the fics that caused me to strategically wait to make and post this whole list lmao. And I am glad that I actually got this fic posted when I wanted to, and I'm glad that I waited. I have had this fic brewing in my drafts for a long time, and I have had the general idea for it in my head for a lot longer. I've actually had the idea in my head for longer than the original fic existed (the fic that this is a prequel to) and when I figured out that I could utilise my idea here, I was so excited.

I love writing about the real consequences of Draco being a Death Eater and I fucking love writing the Arranged Marriage trope, and this was all my favourite things to write about rolled up into one. And I also loved writing the inclusion of Harry having a very shallow one-sided crush on the reader when she is too busy actually falling in love with Draco to notice. This was incredibly fun for me to write and I absolutely love how it turned out - so it is by far one of my favourite fics I have written this year.

4. Figure It Out - A Criminal Minds Casefic (18,000 words)

Since you joined the BAU, you have been keeping a terrible secret from the team. When the team takes a case in your hometown - your festering secret comes to be known with a vengeance. Fem!Reader x Gen!BAU Team (Platonic). General Casefic, modelled after a Criminal Minds episode. Angst, Mystery, Hurt and Comfort. Set during Criminal Minds Season 3.

I feel like this list would be incomplete if I did not include the fic I obsessed over as my first fic of the year. This fic really did a lot for me as an artist - for so long I have been wanting to write something with a similar concept to the music video for Figure It Out by Royal Blood (something where the story essentially goes in reverse and more details are revealed along the way, constantly changing who you believe is the villain vs who is the victim). The first time I saw that music video, it changed me and I have been so radically inspired by it ever since.

And because this idea has been sitting in my head for literal years, I am so fucking proud that I managed to do it justice. And I do think that Criminal Minds is the perfect backdrop to do this kind of idea with, and I think that this is actually a kind of radical artistic episode that they might actually do.

I would also love to use this format for other fandoms (I think it would work so well for The Walking Dead especially, and you guys know that I want to apply everything I do to Titans) - so I am so glad that I wrote this fic and gained confidence in writing something with an usual format and that I just got to have fun with it.

3. When Doves Cry - Jason Todd x Gar Logan (11,100 words)

At Dick’s insistence, Jason comes back to Wayne Manor to help the Titans end Crane’s deadly plan. Jason doesn’t want redemption or forgiveness - he’s done believing that he’s worthy of those. Once Crane is back at Arkham where he belongs, Jason plans to disappear, never to be heard from again. But Gar - someone who never stopped loving Jason and never stopped believing in his goodness - has other plans. Jason Todd x Gar Logan. Friends to Lovers/Lovers Reunited. Smut and Emotional Angst. Set during Season 3, Episode 13.

This fic is absolutely so fucking special to me. This is actually one of my only fics that has a dedication, even though most of my romance based fics should be dedicated to @nctzenkane - because he is the love of my life and he inspires most of my romance based fics in one way or another.

I wrote this fic at a time when I was really struggling as an artist. If you have been following me all year, then you will likely know about an incident where I spent months writing a longer fic, and that fic garnered some complaints and hate comments, and when I spoke up with my distaste for those comments - I was basically told to shut up, and I was told that fanfic readers have a right to be rude and treat fic authors like shit the second that we post our work to the 'public'.

And it really demotivated me and the whole incident really made me thoroughly consider quitting writing altogether, especially considering the fact that my chronic illness is getting worse each year and every single time I successfully post a fic, more and more work has gone into that fic behind the scenes (past my illness) in order to make that fic 'visible to the public'.

All of this to say that I was feeling down, disappointed and lost, and I asked Jaycen what to do - what I should write to truly make myself feel confident and good in my art again. I asked him to request something because I needed some inspiration and some artistic direction. And he requested this fic - because he usually only enjoys romances between canon character pairings (and he loves JayGar because I majorly fed him the juice on that) and he knows that Titans is my strong suit.

The fic is also incredibly special to me because the song is also incredibly special - even though I fucking love 80s music, I didn't really listen to Prince until Jaycen encouraged me to, and when I listened to this song for the first time, it really wormed its way in as one of my all time favourite songs. And it suits these characters and their dynamic so well in addition to being such a beautifully personal song to me.

So yeah - this fic is gonna go down in history as one of my top five favourite fics of all time, not just from this year. And it definitely made the ranking a lot harder.

2. Heaven's Gate - Daryl Dixon x GN!Reader (24,200 words)

Hope. Not the fragile, delicate thing that everyone mistakes it to be. Hope is stubborn, and grows inside of you long before you ever realize its purpose there. Hope can’t be crushed by a thousand pound tank or torn apart as easily as concrete walls can. Hope is balanced on the backs of songbirds, it whistles quietly in the wind, and it brings you right where you need to be (even if you don’t know it). Daryl Dixon x GN!Reader. Strangers to Lovers/Lovers Reunited. Emotional Angst, Hurt and Comfort, Fluff. Set during Seasons 1-5.

This is another fic that is so fucking special to me, and that's why it's so close to the top of the ranking. I have had this idea in mind for years probably - I fucking love the concept of any fic that involves reunions when it comes to The Walking Dead (and I could write 10,000 more fics based on this concept) because every single moment of reunion in the show just fucking gets me. Even though I don't really like Rick and Lori's relationship (and I love Lori, don't mistake me as a Lori hater - never), the moment where Rick gets out of the cube van and reunites with Carl and Lori for the first time in the first season - it gives me goosebumps every single time without fail.

So I simply aim to recreate that feeling with my fics.

Also - the bird symbolism. When I lived at my old place, I had a bird feeder right outside my window, and I used to do a lot of bird watching. And I became familiar with certain bird species and the rarity of certain types of birds, and there is just something hopeful that ignites within you when you see a particularly rare bird - and it is a myth I have heard that cardinals represent good luck (likely because of their rarity) when you see them.

And I love how the whole fic evolved to represent hope, which I think is something we all need more of in our lives. During this year of existential dread and sadness, it felt really good to write something that was purely about happiness and hope.

1. The Jaws of Life - Jason Todd x GN!Reader (19,900 words)

You and Jason don’t really hate each other - at least not anymore. Your feelings for each other are more than complicated, and before you have time to figure it all out, you have to part ways. Jason goes back to Gotham at Bruce’s behest, and you’re off to visit a long lost relative that you didn’t even know cared about you. Unfortunately, while you’re apart, the Joker makes things even more complicated with a phone call and a gun. And your world comes crashing down before you can even put names to all the stars in your sky. Jason Todd x GN!Powered!Reader. Friends With Benefits to Lovers/Lovers Reunited. Smut, Extreme Emotional Angst, Hurt and Comfort. Set during Season 3. 

Here is the big number one! I am giving this one the top spot even though it's incomplete (and I am kind of biased because in my head, I am including how amazing stuff from the second part is) - and maybe it's just an excuse to include such an amazing fic in two different 'Top 10 Fics of The Year' posts lmao. Because when I post the second part in January, technically it will count for next year too.

But anyway - I love this fic so fucking much. This fic has been so long in the making, and I love every single aspect of it - the emotions, the metaphors, the length. This is one of those fics that is perfect to me because it came out exactly how I wanted it to be in my head. I am so utterly proud of this fic, and I am so glad that people are getting to read it now, even if it is just the first part.

Anyway - that's all for this year, and I am sooo looking forward to seeing what I can come up with next year.

Whew, okay, let's go!

Staycation/Monday

Me: I can definitely come up with enough fun kinky scenarios to write a week's worth of stories for Aephorul's vacation

Also me: he's a 45 year old man with chronic back pain, there's no way he's having this much sex on the floor without suffering Consequences. By Wednesday he's going to be too sore to get out of bed and Resh'an is going to be anemic from blood loss.

Anyway, Monday is the petplay story. I am currently stuck at a crossroads: do I write some relatively straightforward smut with collars and leashes and a dash of breeding kink? Or do I commit to Resh'an's sexual dysfunction, and the fact that he's really not supposed to orgasm until Friday- in which case I will have to figure out how to describe one of these, and its wearable counterpart. The other staycation wips that I've made some progress on are the play piercing and shibari scene and the nipple torture/caning/general bondage scene. Plus a little bit of Friday, which is when they see how many times Resh'an can come after being stuck in a cage all week. (spoiler: they lose count.)

A scene that I want to write for them eventually, but maybe not within the Staycation series, is where they do some silly Mad Scientist roleplay- because even in this AU, there's going to be tentacle sex, damnit.

2. I fuckin hate the eagles, man

This is actually mostly a Messenger wip, and is the sequel to Hotel California. The title is, uh. because. Hotel California-> The Eagles-> The Great Eagle-> everything is Resh'an's fault-> I think I'm very funny-> at some point they're going to watch The Big Lebowski during movie night in the Tower of Time. There are currently 4 wips in that file; the first is a scene I didn't include in HC, where Ninja and Arty talk about the Sunken Shrine.

The second one is the Monk/Ninja pegging fic. Ninja can't even spell "PTSD", nevermind "queerplatonic". It's fine. He'll be fine! Eventually. Probably. ...maybe.

Third wip is the Ninja/Phantom smut, which is mostly just a wholesome good time for everybody, but Ninja does still cry during sex. I'm sorry, I keep doing this to him, I can't seem to help it.

The fourth one isn't even a wip, it's just a scene where Ninja meets Resh'an and hits on him. I feel like this one might be your fault, honestly. If this ever goes anywhere, I swear Ninja won't cry about it. Resh'an might, though.

"So are you like. A skeleton under there?"

Resh'an laughed. "Sometimes. I can use alchemy to temporarily approximate my living body. It doesn't work for very long, though."

"Can I see?" Resh'an wasn't a Blue Robe; there wasn't any taboo about asking to see his face.

"I- I suppose so." Resh'an seemed a little taken aback at the question. He fiddled with his alchemy vial for a moment. "I haven't done this in a while, give me a minute-"

Watching people do magic never got old. Maybe in a few hundred years he'd graduate to being ready to learn it himself; it was something to look forward to.

When the glowy light from the spell faded, Resh'an tugged down his face mask and squinted a little.

"Oh- wow. You're cute!" Shit. But the Archivist was- he'd been expecting a wrinkled old man, not this bright-eyed, adorable nerd.

"I- what?" Resh'an's eyes widened; he lifted a hand to touch his face. "Th-thank you?"

10. all we need of hell

This is part 4 of parting is all we know of heaven, which is the series where all of my B'st/Resh'an fic takes place. As the title kind of suggests, this one is a bit darker than the rest of the series; I get to dig into B'st's backstory a little, and all of the things he's kept hidden from Resh'an over the years. Aephorul shows up and is awful. (Everybody gets to be a little bit awful in this one, actually!) Resh'an has a few moments of badassery, but they're tempered with an equal number of moments where he's a sad wet rag.

Aephorul's laughter came out as a dry hiss. “Are you threatening me?”

“I'm making a statement of fact.” The time shards hanging in the air all had razor sharp edges.

Aephorul leaned a little closer, as if he were examining Resh'an. “You're actually serious. How novel! What would you even do, I wonder?”

Resh'an narrowed his eyes. The ground beneath them began to shake, just a faint, distant tremor at first, followed by a shrieking howl.

The mountain broke open. In the heart of the shattered earth was something terrible, and hungry-

“Stop! Stop- enough- are you mad- Fine!” Aephorul sat on a fallen piece of masonry with his head in his hands. “Fine. I'll help you. What do you want, Resh'an.”

11. shovel knight

There are 2 wips in this file. The first is Donovan/Luan, with an "and there was only one bed" recurring scenario taken to ridiculous extremes. I don't know if this one will actually end with them getting together or if it just stays angsty and one-sided; most of what I've written so far has just been Donovan in a state of "Oh fuck oh no he's hot".

The second is the one where Specter gets gang banged by the Enchantress and the Knights of No Quarter. Most of them, anyway. The Enchantress is probably going to mind control anyone who tries to protest or decline. Specter gets to keep his helmet on, but that's pretty much the only mercy he gets here. (I keep thinking of ways to make this one much, much worse but I'm probably going to chicken out.)

17. isolation

Oh god, okay, this file is a mess. Most of it is more B'st/Resh'an in the parting universe, although it's probably more of an AU to that series than anything else. A lot of it is wildly self indulgent Resh'an angst, where he ends up reenacting some of the abuse he experienced at Aephorul's hands with B'st, and it's kind of fucked up and unhealthy for everyone involved. There's also an angsty breakup scene, unrelated to the psychosexual torture. And there's a fairly innocuous and cute scene where they meet up on the Vespertine and Hortense roasts Resh'an mercilessly.

Like I said, a mess.

There's also this bit of Messenger wip, which is extremely silly but I don't really care. This might get thrown into I fuckin hate the eagles, man.

“Arty! A little help over here?” he yelled.

He heard a few loud clanks from the workroom behind him. The music note dripped slowly onto the floor, leaving a glassy pink puddle on the ground. Ninja looked around frantically for a bucket or something- it couldn't be good to have the embodiment of divine love just kind of slopped all over the floor.

The last bit of the floating music note dripped onto the floor. Ninja stared at the puddle. It stared back.

“What the-” He jumped back and drew his sword. The puddle rippled, blinked, and began to rise up from the ground. Shit. “Shit. Arty! Prophet! C'mon, you guys, Monk is too busy making out with Shopkeeper- shit-”

One last crash from behind him, and Arty finally popped across the hall. “What's going on over he- B'ST!”

Ninja startled a little as Arty launched himself at the hulking mass that had been the Key of Love. It sprouted a pair of arms and caught him with a clang, and staggered back on two blocky legs from Arty's momentum.

The leap had knocked Arty's hood askew; his froggy face was beaming, and now he was talking too fast to really follow- "I searched the crypt six times and I couldn't find you, but all my calculations said you had to make it, Shopkeeper even said Prophet might have been wrong but I knew it, I knew you would make it, you're here, you finally came back, you have to meet everybody and we can show you the thing and-"

so, yapping about you plus me. i originally thought this verse was the only thing i'd write but that was before i got pulled deeper into fandom than i have been in over a decade lol. there are a BUNCH of fics in this in various stages of doneness/abandonedness so here's a rundown:

kink discussion except they keep accidentally getting horny about it and buck has done Research (aka spiralled while tommy slept) and he knows you're supposed to have these discussions when you're not actively having sex. featuring clipboard buck having feelings (positive ones. lbr horny ones) about his own relative lack of knowledge

buck meeting tommy's friends because i decided he needs friends. queer friends! connections! people who love him!

buck having feelings about being too needy, tommy having precisely ZERO PROBLEMS being needed <- yeah this one is like four lines of dialogue lol

zany madcap proposal fic where everything that can go wrong does but it's still the single best day of tommy's life because buck is trying SO HARD to give him the romcom moment of his dreams

maddie and buck talking about their parents - how they are as parents, how they are as grandparents to jee, how they might be as grandparents to any kids buck and tommy have in the future

triple date fic with hen and karen and eddie and marisol. largely abandoned but just...cute flirting and a counterpoint to hen and karen's deleted scene with tommy where they grill buck instead

buck bottoming for the first time. unsurprisingly he is VERY EAGER but tommy is very concerned about making it good, making it okay, making it right and buck slowly driving him insane talking about like, how much he likes the feeling of tommy on top of him, how into pegging his ex girlfriend was etc etc. honestly, this is just an excuse for various smut scenes loosely tied together

fic where tommy's sister (who buck didn't know existed) turns up out of the blue and precipitates big conversations about why the fuck tommy can't just TELL HIM STUFF <- started writing this way before we learned just how shut off canon tommy really is, i feel like i jinxed myself lol

5+1 fic where they get to know each other better via different activities/locations in and around LA. basically i was pining for the city and taking it out on them lol

tommy's dad dies, and they navigate their way through it including things like whether he goes to the funeral, how the hell he feels about it etc

possibly 5+1 maddie pov fic where she's trying to figure out who the hot pilot is by talking to other people about him, and then finally talking to him

disaster fic where buck and a civilian are stuck in the rubble of a collapsed building having conversations about love and queerness while they wait for rescue

Before BG3, the last time I had even thought about fanfic was back in the Firefly days, when I managed to shock myself away from it by not understanding how to filter tags. Now, I cannot stop writing and reading. Like, it's a problem, how much I want to write and read fanfic, especially if it includes Astarion. Eki squints, two acidic green slits under a frilly headband and bejeweled glasses. With his build, the short skirt naturally hikes up just a tad in the back, enough to glean the strap of a garter and the edge of silky hosiery. With every second, his face scrunches up more, centered into his wrinkled nose and knitted eyebrows. It’s just that with that lacy little bell choker, he looks less like a hunter and more like a housecat.

“I am not cute,” Eki insists. 

Bullshit. “But you are! It suits you so well!”

His look gets a little more pointed. “What is that supposed to mean?”

“That you’re adorable, duh.” You take his hand, and on instinct he jerks back with a hiss. Eki isn’t so used to little touches like this, but you don’t make any more sudden movements, and cautiously, he returns. He still has fishnets along his fingers, but they reach high up his arms, rubbing up against your skin as he accepts your hand. “And look, you even have bloodstains on your apron already!”

That he does. The apron tied along his waist with a bow, once a brilliant white, is now tainted with arcs of red. He relaxes. “Finally, something I like about this ensemble.” His free hand raises the apron’s hem as he inspects his handiwork. “A man’s last breaths were captured in how he bled out on my apron. I snapped both his arms so I could slit his stomach open and examine how quickly his blood escaped the confines of flesh.”

You kiss the top of his frilly forehead. “And you were so fine doing it.” 

“I did,” he says. The blood saturates through the cloth. As his finger leaves, a tinge of red trails on the tip, not quite dried yet. “There’s something enticing about pure, innocent white now stained in bloodlust.”

“So enticing that I wanna take a selfie with you.”

“What.”

You wrap an arm around Eki’s shoulders and raise your phone in the air. “Say, ‘moe moe kyun!’”

“Eugh, no.”

The camera app opens. You peck Eki’s cheek just as the camera shutters.

so i've been stuck in absolute writer block hell the last two months (I've been whining bitching and moaning about it. a lot. in case anyone's missed it lmao<3) BUT i think i literally just figured it out last night so we're so back!! hopefully.

wip wise i'm kind of all over the place really. i have a silm fic in progress that's fingon/finrod/maedhros with like, so much smut and them being spoilt hedonistic princes in valinor hurling towards the hubris of their own doom which has a couple of thousand words to it that i'm really excited to get back to, but which is probably gonna take another 20k or so to even get remotely in the realm of done.

i've also just started a marvel/stony fic that's a classic post-avengers getting together fic that's just me figuring out the characters really, and that'll hopefully not break the 10k mark.

i have a bunch of shorter oneshots for both fandoms i want to get to, and i've also signed up for the tolkien reverse bang again, although rather lowkey, waiting to see if anything'll strike my fancy.

and lastly i'm actually itching to write something actually long and involved again, but i haven't quite figured out which of the various ideas i want to do yet. it's probably gonna be silm fic too, but i'll just have to get back into the swing of writing first before i press down on that. and then i'm also having a fandom friend visit for the next three weeks so lord knows how soon I am getting back into that swing.

for now i'm just really pleased the words have returned from the war to me really which is probably also why i'm just yapping on here, but !! things of some kind will be written, my brain's literally itching for it. which fandom and fic and ship that'll be is up to anyone's guess including me, but then what else is new lmao 🫡

I try to now. In the past, because I used to write without really being  "in" fandom or knowing anyone, I didn't realise people expected you to lol. I thought as a writer, you did your thing, someone commented if they thought it was at all worth saying anything about, and then you just went on your way like two ships passing in the night.

6. Angstiest ending?

Probably When Tomorrow Comes because the POV is tortured and beaten and dead by the end :)c I actually cried IRL when I wrote this one. Ahh, good memories! Out of my Oz fics… (squints) Dead Man Walking, maybe? Although I think it's open-ended, too, so maybe it's not that angsty. Maybe Terror Makes a Sour Meal, idk. OH. The Death of Jaime Velez. Doi.

7. Fic with the happiest ending?

You know, I write a lot of angst but there's also a ton of happy endings. I guess the happiest is probably the sweeter the sun (wedding fic) or for Oz?? It'll probably be Silver Moon's Sparkling, just because in my mind, it's basically a romcom.

8. Do you get hate?

Not on my fics (not enough readership + I am a perfect human being) but I've seen people vagueing me in fandom tags before for, idk, hyping up rarepairs and side characters too much (skill issue on their part frankly).

9. Do you write smut?

Yes :) I published my first attempt at smut (very vague frottage I think—idk, I refuse to reread it) June 2020, and have been incorrigible ever since.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Not currently, but I've played around with them in the past! My first two fanfics ever were crossovers 💀Harry Potter x Twilight, I'm sad to say.

Not technically, no, but I had some fics translated and posted to another site with no link back to AO3, which is not what I thought the person was going to do when they asked me. But… Oh well…

A couple! 6—that I know of—to Russian (TSOMD fics) and then one to Chinese (an HXH fic :))

Yes… But I took myself off as an author so now it's just on their account 😂 It was from middle school and also a 4 fandom crossover event including Superwholock, soooooo…

Whatever is my main hyperfixation tbh, so I'm going to say Miguel/Chico! I don't really have ults of anything in life (colors, movies, books), and that includes ships.

15. WiPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The Nineteenth Year of Chenghua, my zombie apocalypse fic based on the finale cliffhanger (why did they go so hard with it, knowing there'd be no s2???) 😔

16. Writing strengths?

Dialogue? I feel like I do a decent job/have been told I write banter and other verbal exchanges pretty well. Plot, I hope, is also becoming more of a strength, where before it was a weakness.

17. Writing weaknesses?

Description is something I'm always trying to improve—and using more *descriptive* words as well. I think I get stuck in using the same vocab over and over. Reading other works helps shake me out of that pattern a bit, but I haven't been much of a fic reader in past years (I keep stepping into small fandoms lol), and poetry can only take a guy so far… This year, I've been trying to get into audiobooks to help me listen to more sentences and learn from a wider range of examples 😂

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

My takes on this are kind of changing, but for the most part, if the characters are bilingual with part of it in English, I like making the effort of researching the non-English language and placing it in, with translations through hover text. For my TSOMD fics where the language is Chinese but my story is English, I write titles and words with no English equivalent in pinyin, i.e, du-gong, da-ren, zhihui-shi, etc, instead of blanket terming them all as Your Excellency, or whatever. 

I did try a different approach with Recognition of Another when there was English and Chinese being spoken. I didn’t want to write out everything as pinyin, so for the longer sentences, I wrote it in Chinese (which is obviously gibberish to non speakers/readers) and then wrote the English in italics next to it. Still not sure about that approach… I have an Oz wip as well where it made more sense to put all the “Spanish” in Italics since there was so much of it, but there was also English I wanted to differentiate. When there is a character in the scene who doesn’t speak Spanish, I then wrote the dialogue in Spanish like for most of my fics.

How many words have you published in 2024?

I published my very first fic on the 31st of December last year, and everything else has been this year - sooooo not counting collabs, 138,904. It's nowhere near as much as some, but I'm v happy. It's a lot more than I ever expected.

What is your greatest achievement this year?

Getting to the end of Storm Jizz! I never finish anything - my tiny sparrow brain is constantly distracted by the next shiny thing, and just knowing that I'm actually capable of finishing something a little longer is so confidence-giving.

What are your favourite top three fics you’ve written this year?

Someone is Calling Him Shorewards AKA Storm Jizz - I dunno, I just like it. I'd absolutely recommend @nosferatini's podfic over actually reading it though.

Spookake - eh, ghost jizz innit.

Zip Wire (Too Fast for Love) - v silly.

What was your biggest pit of despair moment?

There's not been a specific moment, but I've done a good bit of wallowing in self-pity about fics (both reading and writing). Something I've struggled with is trying to maintain creative momentum when I'm travelling, and I would like to have more discipline there instead of just getting in a sulk.

What have you learned?

That 'groyne' is a word (yes thank you Google Docs).

What fic did you want to do but never made it off the ground?

Oh, some weirdness, who knows. I have silly ideas all the time and it's for the best that most of them don't see the light of day.

Did you beta any fics? Any favs you want to shout out?

Yesssss!!!!! I am currently beta-ing Still We Know Each Other So Well by @paperclipninja, and it is gorgeous and delightful and all the things. I adore this fic and it's been an absolute privilege tagging along for the ride, chapter by chapter. It's soft, sweet, and mysterious, and I urge everyone to read it because you will fall in love.

I'm also beta-ing In Headlights AKA DEER FIC by @doonarose, and good lord - Doons is the absolute queen of smut and this fic is so ridiculously hot, with the most wonderful, considered characterisations of these dorks. It's an absolute feast and everyone should be reading it.

What three fics have you read this year that you love?

Soooooo many more than three. Like, SO many more. I'm going to stick with finished fics just to narrow it down slightly, but I have a few WIPs I'm following that I am obsessed with as well (Still We Know Each Other So Well, Scorn and the Saint-Maker, In Headlights!).

A Little Life by @gaiaseyes451 - I will never, ever get over this one. It was a masterclass in beautiful, evocative writing that tore me to shreds while at the same time being one of the loveliest things I've ever read. I cannot rave about this fic enough - it absolutely transcends fandom and Aziracrow, and I know I will read it again and again.

Stuck On You by @zin-lynn-c - I beta'd this one and it was such an utter, utter joy and a gift to get those chapters just a teensy bit early. This is the fic that has everything - humour, angst, smut, gorgeous prose and storytelling, the BEST Agnes Nutter, and so much more. Instant classic, go wrap your eyeballs around it if you haven't already.

Give Me Jizz or Give Me Death - A Choose Your Own Jizz (CYOJ) Adventure by the most amazing band of smutgoblins, along with transcendental cover art by @ineffablecrankshaft - I cannot list top three fics without including this absolute INSANITY that was my birthday gift. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most phenomenal, absurd, wonderful gift I've ever received in my actual life, and I treasure the fuck outta it.

What ideas are percolating for next year?

SPIES! CRUSADES! BADGERS! GHOSTS! PIGEONS!

Who do you want to thank?

@paperclipninja for being the ultimate beta, collab partner, cheerleader, chatter and all-round excellent pal. Somehow, despite both being absolute chaos demons, we get things done (about 40% of the time, at least): writing, beta, ridiculous songs, "online research", solving the problems of the world, and everything else besides. Couldn't do it without ya, Clip, and I mean that!

@zinlynn-c for all the cheering, limericks, gasbagging and ghost hunting. If you had told me this time last year that I'd end up sitting in the stairwell of a sixteenth century manor at midnight chatting to its resident ghost with another smutgoblin, I wouldn't have believed it. I still actually can't!

@nosferatini - I can't quite reconcile the idea of Nos as one single person. I suspect she is actually a team of psychologists, an entire theatre troupe, David Tennant, four project managers, and a choir of slightly creepy British children in a trenchcoat. How? Just how do you do it? Nos, you're beyond wonderful, and it's an absolutely privilege to wobble about on the outer curve of your brilliant orbit.

new year, what's next?

hey everyone! i hope you all are having a good week, and if it's been a little rough - that's okay too, just keep pushing, you got this 🫶

first i want to say thank you. thank you to everyone that has enjoyed my works over the course of 2024, and i hope you'll stay to see what i have coming up! thank you to the friends i've made on here for being so supporting and making my day that much better when we talk. i love all of you and i can't wait for another year of friendship with all of you!

next, i think i have to address the hecticness. there was a huge bump in my road this past year. one i'm still overcoming. it caused huge anxiety and made me terrified to post. writers block hit hard and writers guilt threw a boulder at me. i think i'm still stuck under that boulder, feeling bad for not posting or choosing to roam around a video game for hours on end and not writing.

one of my goals this year is to work myself out from under that boulder.

it'll be a process. not sure how long or how difficult. but it won't be an overnight fix.

i have series un-updated, unfinished, and flat out not started. i have so many stories i want to write and share with everyone. but it takes time. so, that's what i'm going to do. i'm going to take sometime and just write them.

i made a plan on tuesday night: finish current series (mainly lt rogers and duckie - rewrites included), and once those are done any series after that has to have a certain amount done before i think about posting. this is all just to help me make sure that i'm happy with content i put out. current series will be put on hold for updates until i can make progress on them (rewritten chapters will be edited and reblogged with the tags)

one-shots, mini-series, and requests work a little differently. i'm going to try and write all of the requests before i start posting them (that may change idk). but if you've sent in a request, please know i have not forgotten it and i am doing my best to bring it to life. requests still are and will be closed until i can clean up my WIP wheel.

now this is all just a plan i'm implementing, and it may not work. this is on a trial basis until i find what does work.

I only started writing in 2023 and my pace of writing new stuff is glacial so there won't be that much to share (I am one of those people with thousands of words in unfinished snippets in my google docs but very few of that actually makes it to AO3), but without further ado, let's go...

I only have three, so I'll list them in that order:

in the centre of a circle my first long-form chaptered fic, and still the one I am most proud of. I truly, thoroughly enjoyed writing this and diving into Sirius's brain, and I think that really shines through.

tongue full of tomorrows my first-born! I wrote this quite quickly and feverishly and as a result it's pretty simplistic, but I still like it. it's a fluffy little thing I really enjoyed writing.

no thing defines a man like love that makes him soft it feels like I wrote this fic weeks ago, not almost half a year! I spent a lot of time trying to get this just right, but I'm really happy with how it came out. hurt/comfort is one of my favourite tropes and I had a blast taking a crack at it, extremely self-indulgently.

Do you respond to comments?

always, and embarrassingly quickly, too. it's so very special to receive a comment, whether it's a few words or a lengthy ramble, and I love engaging with people who liked what I wrote.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

none of my fics really have super angsty endings, but I think no thing defines a man is the angstiest one because it's canon compliant. as in, the fic ends semi-happily, but there's still a war looming above their heads, you know?

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

that would be in the centre of a circle! there's a big fat HEA tag on that fic, and I stuck to that promise—the boys are thriving (very gay and very in love).

Do you write crossovers?

assuming this means fics that straddle multiple fandoms? in which case, no

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

no, actually. or well, I haven't seen any of it. I've been lucky enough to only receive positive comments and feedback.

Do you write smut?

yep. there is some smut in in the centre of a circle, and I have some WIPs floating around my drive that have smut, including a WIP that is... excessively filthy (casanova Remus, if anyone remembers me yapping about that one). like, it's explicit explicit. if that ever sees the light of day I might need to scrub my digital footprint, honestly.

not as far as I know!

Have you ever had a fic translated?

nope.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

officially, no. however, my bff/roommate and I have an abandoned WIP floating around the google drive (a 9-1-1 AU) that we co-wrote. we spent hours outlining it and assigning roles, re-watching the show, etc. it's only about 5 chapters before we abandoned it, but still! it was fun, and I'd be open to doing it again.

What's your all-time favorite ship?

Wolfstar, of course, and I have unfortunately fallen down the Jayvik (from Arcane) rabbit hole...

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

I don't have any WIPs running on AO3, if that's what the question is, but I have dozens on my drive. I think the 9-1-1 one will unfortunately stay there forever, simply because I don't think I'd want to write it without my friend (even though it was exciting). otherwise, I have made it a new year's resolution to actually try to finish and publish the two WIPs that have been hijacking my brain the most in 2025... so wish me luck!

What are your writing strengths?

see, now this is where you lose me. I've been a writer for as long as I can remember, and I have written fanfic for most of that time. despite that, I am an extremely self-deprecating writer and I suffer from a crippling case of perfectionism. is that silly? yes. do I love writing? yes. is being super critical of my work a blockade to doing what I love? also yes.

I love writing, but I struggle to see the forest for the trees, so to say, and pinpoint my own strengths. I get in my own way a lot. but, if I had to pick something, I think I'm good at writing emotions. but that would more so be because other people have told me so than because I actually believe it.

What are your writing weaknesses?

ah, so maybe I should have put the "my own worst enemy" spiel here, instead, haha. but yes. I have so many ideas, and I think in a general sense that my writing and ideas are pretty neat, it's just my own brain that sabotages me. one of my goals in 2025 is trying to actually finish something, instead of building a rolodex of random snippets and unfinished WIPs in my google drive. (as for actual writing, I think my weakness is over-describing things that could easily be said in one sentence instead of my five).

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

love it, why not. I haven't done it myself (yet) but I adore the welsh-speaking Remus and french-speaking Sirius headcanon and enjoy reading it in fics. I recently read a great fic in which Remus spoke swahili and afrikaans. as long as there's translations in the end notes, make them speak anything you want!

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

there's some Marauders ships (dorlene, mostly) that I would love to include in future works but I want to be able to do them justice, so I'd need to find the proper place in one of my fics for them to get the development and attention they deserve and not just be there in the background for the plot, if that makes sense.

What's your favorite fic you've written?

in the centre of a circle. she's my baby, and I love her. I spent so many hours in cafe's scattered across London outlining and writing, removing and adding and editing and just being stuck in Sirius's head, and I really love the way it came out. you can see the difference in writing quality between chapter 1 and 7 a little too clearly, but I had so much fun writing it regardless of that. the original idea was just a little brainwave of what if? and it went somewhere entirely different (Sirius took the wheel) and it was exhilarating to roll with it.

2024 AO3 Wrapped - For Writers

Taking a page out of @frownyalfred's bag and am compiling the stats that are most interesting to me (from various wraps I've seen) rather than using any one set template. I'm also going to stick to published stats because I've written chapters for Like the Cryptkeeper that have not published yet, in addition to a few WIPs I've gotten stuck in.

These last four stats I find interesting from a statistical perspective but also maddening, and I'm hoping one of you out there knows a trick. Because these three numbers are wrong.

Firstly, they include all hits/comments/kudos for Hey, Sister, but I wrote and posted half of that in 2022, so some of these are 2022 stats. Same goes for Nowhere Safer, which first posted near the end of 2023 but concluded in 2024! Augh.

And secondly, if I filter my stats down to 2024, it only shows me hits, comments, and kudos given to fics from 2024. My 2024 fics are little babies. Not only are they new and therefore less well-known, but they're also significantly shorter than, for example, The Return and Nature & Nurture.

AO3 is an archive. My older fics are FAR more popular than my shiny new fics! I WANT MY ACCURATE STATS. /endrant

Learn Anything New?

It was such a relief to finally feel like I got a little bit more of a handle on Dick. I didn't expect that this year.

I noticed while drafting Cryptkeeper that Jason was being VERY sweary in a way I don't usually write that felt appropriate and inappropriate for the setting at the same time. I finally realized my own internal distinction that he tends to stick to lesser swears when communicating verbally, while his own internal monologue will have a lot more f-bombs.

I love the "Batkids trust Bruce enough to crawl into his bed after a nightmare" but it's a trope that only ever squared with me in an uncomplicated way for Dick. I didn't see Jason falling into it without hesitation even as a younger kid and I really couldn't see Tim doing it, except for maybe much, much, MUCH later. I liked being able to solidify the uncomfortable middle ground for myself in Nowhere Safer.

It's not new knowledge that getting Jason and Bruce to talk honestly to each other is a difficult thing, but MAN has Cryptkeeper really driven it home. Yikes.

2025 Aspirations Or Goals:

Finish Like the Cryptkeeper.

Beef up some of my other pairings. I do want to keep writing my most delicious faves, but I'd like to explore some different combinations.

Tied to that, I'd like to build out my own understanding of some other characters within the Wayne universe. Steph and Duke remain a cipher to me, but so does Kon and Jon and Lois. I don't know that I would write more about them, but understanding them is at least more in that direction.

Tied to that, I'd like to find more new-to-me authors to read. My fic reading has fallen off a cliff for various reasons, but it's always a thrill to find talented writers who tackle the Fam in a cogent and engaging way.

Not necessarily specific to 2025, but I've never officially collaborated on a fic with anyone. That might be fun.

tbh all of them - some more, some less, but there are moments, especially lately, when veeeery often I'm just like: everything I write sucks wtf

@giddyupbuck agreed to beta the alive shannon fic, and I spam them with snippets if I'm in doubt and it's sooo helpful fr ily <3 and I'll need alive shannon beta-read bc it's gonna be so long, and I keep changing my mind about things bc of how many ideas I have, so I just need someone else to look at it and tell me if everything makes sense haha - and Ro's helped me so much with some previous fics so they have my full trust with my baby that is the alive shannon fic haha

all of them at some point lol - a few of these are actually on hold bc of that - I will get back to them tho!

alive shannon will have switching povs which i rarely do, so it's gonna be a challenge to write three distinct voices - and diving into Shannon's head and feelings and motivations will also definitely be hard

I think sick eddie - he's so ridiculously stubborn and difficult istg haha or buddie coffee shop with how fucking awkward buck's being

19. Do any of your WIPs contain outside POVs or a deep dive on a character other than the main ship? How are you finding that process?

yep, once again, alive shannon - it's as much a buddie fic as it is a shannon fic, so it's not exactly outside pov, bc I'm just excited to focus on her equally as much, on how she's settling into their lives, becoming a better mom, being involved in Chris' life - she's gonna have as much focus as buddie sns it's not easy, bc it's alternating povs and once I get stuck in Eddie's head it's hard to leave, but so far it's been fun

uhhh, I think I share like everything lol okay, so maybe: alive shannon will definitely go at least up until s4 and will include Eddie dating Ana 👀 purely bc I want a buddie-shipping Shannon to be like wtf eddie??? also, there will be more than one mcd in the death cast fic and coffee buddie was loosely inspired by a small thing from luke cage lol
