Jamie Johnson 5x08 Review
Tonight was one of the best, if not the best, Jamie Johnson eps so far. Dillon faced some of his toughest obstacles yet in his coming out journey and we got some sweet Delliot moments. Let’s dig in!
This British kids soccer show continues to make history. We saw some very nuanced and mature discussions between Dillon and Elliot about being gay and coming out; how often on tv do two gay kids actually discuss their sexualities? Elliot gave Dillon some great advice and perhaps more importantly told Dillon that he was in fact brave and a winner on and off the pitch
You’d have to be daft to deny that Dillon and Elliot have crushes on each other after this ep. Seeing both Dillon and Elliot trying their best to look nice before meeting up with each other was cute and their handhold at the pitch was very sweet. Lots of soft smiles and longing glances and we even got a hug before Elliot left
Laquarn has confirmed that he’s not in any more S5 eps and doesn’t know if he’s back for the yet to be filmed S6. I can only hope he’ll come back. It would be a waste of great chemistry and an engaging character if Elliot was just meant to help Dillon with his sexuality before passing the torch to Ruby. He clearly left the door open for a future reunion when he told Dillon to call him when he was ready. Patrick confirmed in an interview today that he’ll be back for S6 and presumably Dillon will be playing for Foxborough or some other pro team. Being in a relationship would certainly be a good spur for Dillon to come out more publicly. And Elliot’s love of astronomy is a perfect set up for a date under the staahs
It’s true that the show has not really focused on ships in a big way; the most we’ve gotten was Boggy and Nancy and the low key Jack, Jamie, and Michelle triangle. But at the same time if Dillon can take Indira out and kiss Sienna then he should be able to date a boy he likes. It would be tragic if the closest Dillon gets to having a boyfriend or kissing a boy is Liam outing Dillon and claiming that Elliot was Dillon’s boyfriend and that he thought they were gonna kiss
And it’s a bit shady that Eric of all people is suddenly getting a female love interest out of nowhere. I just hope when the show eventually ends that it doesn’t turn out to be another Andi Mack where Cyrus was able to kiss a girl twice and go on dates with a girl and use the word girlfriend when none of that happened with a boy
Jamie Johnson really covered a lot tonight with Dillon. We had a very helpful run down of Dillon’s past with girls and the show carefully explains that Dillon never liked Sienna like that, he never wanted to kiss her, he never had a crush on anyone else like she thought, and he never liked Ruby as more than a friend (at least Duby shippers still have Alba and Liam for an Osborne-Simmonds ship). It wasn’t subtle but I think it was necessary to really drive home that Dillon is really gay and there’s no going back. And we got confirmation that Elliot was Dillon’s first crush, he’s obviously never beaten anyone up on this show and the way he phrases it makes clear that he’s never really thought about liking boys that way until very recently
And boy did this ep ever tackle homophobia. Graham Simmonds was seriously out of order this ep. He clearly didn’t want to believe Liam but Dillon using his aftershave already primed him to believe he was trying to impress someone, he just assumed it had been a girl. He really ran through the homophobe’s greatest hits collection: blaming Ruby’s gay parents, saying being gay was a choice, saying that being gay would end Dillon’s career, and disowning and kicking Dillon out for being gay. I suspect that quite a few of the parents watching JJ with their kids hold some of the same views or act the same way and this ep really holds up a mirror and reflects how ugly that kind of behaviour is. We also see Graham praising Dillon’s accomplishments and character right before Liam outs him which just exposes his hypocrisy even more. I do give the show credit for not shying away from Graham’s awfulness, it’s not going to be a quick change for him to suddenly accept Dillon and I’m excited to see his journey to atoning for his mistakes
Thankfully Mrs. Simmonds returned from her banishment to the shadow realm to tell Dillon she loved him and to tell him to return home. Shaun Duggan said he hoped this ep would be a lifeline for kids watching who may be living in homophobic homes (he also mentioned that CBBC rules don’t allow eps to allow on cliffhangers so he has to end an ep showing that the characters are at least physically okay)
It also challenges the audience, most of whom are probably young boys and men, as to whether they will suddenly stop liking Dillon just because he’s gay. It was a real gamble on the show’s part to have their fan favourite character and the effective second lead of the show come out as gay but it has the tremendous pay off of really making the audience question their assumptions and hopefully for some of them it will change their world views
Dillon and Elliot also discussed homophobia in sports. Dillon correctly notes that there aren’t any out players in the top professional teams. Shaun Duggan mentioned in a BBC interview that they like to bring on professional soccer players when they’re having the kids going through things but this time he wasn’t able to have anyone come on to help Dillon because there are no out players. So it falls to Jamie Johnson to basically create that reality themselves by telling Dillon’s story
Patrick Ward did a phenomenal job tonight and he really is the best of the kid actors. He’s mentioned in interviews that he did a lot of research by watching shows and movies with similar gay story lines. In particular his breakdown set to Behind Blue Eyes by the Who was very well done (and once again the show has great taste in music). And of course, Shaun Duggan did an amazing job writing this ep. He’s openly gay himself and that makes all the difference in bringing an authenticity and depth to this story line. On Andi Mack of the 5 textual gay eps only one, 3x11, was written by a gay man and not surprisingly that was the best written by far of those eps
We were 19 minutes into the ep before Jamie himself briefly showed up. And he was 5th in the credits tonight with Dillon and Elliot taking the number 1 and 2 spots. Actually this whole ep had a very small cast and only a few locations, it really helped focus this ep on Dillon. Having Dillon seek out Jamie is interesting in that they’ve been foils for each from the start. But also because it sends a message to have Jamie Johnson himself praise Dillon, it’s a way for the writers to speak directly to the audience through the title character
We’ll doubtless get some more development on Dillon’s story line in the rest of the season but they’ve done historic work so far. A lot of what we’ve seen so far: the depiction of homophobia, coming out to parents, and two gay kids discussing their sexualities has yet to happen anywhere on Disney. Hell this ep alone had more uses of the word gay than Disney has yet to have
I loved how extra the black and white boxing match cold open was. Not surprising that Dillon sees Mike as the supportive (and non homophobic) father figure he wishes Graham was
This was a big step backwards for Liam’s redemption arc tonight but at least at the end he didn’t seem to buying into his dad’s bullshit about them being the only men left in the house. Liam is by no means blameless but he’s also a victim of his dad’s emotional abuse and his pitting his sons against each other. That little meet up with Eric was interesting because they’re foils for each other in some ways and I’m curious to see what lies ahead for Liam and the U13 crew and for how Liam makes this up to Dillon
Looking Ahead:
Finally we get back to the real meat and potatoes of this show; online gaming! Looks like Mike is bored of gardening at the allotment and wants Jamie to get back into real soccer. We’ll see if Jamie makes into the online tournament
Again, not really sure why Eric suddenly needs Ayesha but we’re getting some Freddie anger over Eric choosing lasses over lads
Until next week Jamie Johnsoners

Yikes! (Ben Hardy x Reader)
Summary: Reader is a journalist and has to take over an interview last minute. She has a well known reputation for being calm, cool and collected. That is...until Ben Hardy walks through the door.
Warnings: Fluff, Cursing and lots of dirty thoughts
A/N: This is my first time writing for Ben so please take it easy one me. I run on comments and feed back so please don’t hold back. The Italics is the reader talking to herself. Enjoy!
“Hey Y/N uhh, Tommy’s wife just went into labor and had to leave. They want to know if you can do the interview instead.”
“Of course! Did he leave his questions somewhere or do i need to come with some?” You asked your assistant and best friend, Morgan. You stood from your desk and grabbed your phone shooting off a text to Tommy saying congratulations and not to worry about the interview, you had it all covered.
“Nope, got his questions right here.” Morgan said handing them to you as you walked down the hallway together towards the room the interview was being held. Being a journalist was your dream job. You had been at the company for 5 years now and you were known as the interviewer who was always calm, collected and never starstruck. Over the years you had the privilege of interviewing so many amazing actors and directors, singers and songwriters. You were always professional in a relaxed sort of way, that the person you were speaking with was very much at ease. You got many compliments from your boss about how the different celebs would go on and on about how great you were. How easy it was to talk with you and that you were definitely their favorite by far. You had become friends with many of the people you interviewed, making it even easier when they would return to talk and promote other projects.
You and Morgan entered the empty room and you took your seat in front of the camera and began to look over the questions. Tommy was great at his job but the questions he had were very generic. You did your best as a journalist to come up with questions these actors hadn’t heard and answered a hundred times before. You didn’t think Tommy would mind if you came up with some of your own. You realized you didn’t know who you were interviewing yet and stood and walked to Morgan who was looking through a bunch of papers Tommy’s assistant had passed off to her.
“Morgan, who am i talking to today?” You asked looking down at the papers in her hand.
“Uhh…” She flipped through the papers trying to find you an answer. She stopped on one page and read over it quickly before flipping to another until she found it.
“Wow okay, it’s..” She was cut off by the door opening and you boss walked it with the man you were about to interview.
“Oh Y/N perfect, this is Ben Hardy.” He said with a smile and you looked up from the papers to lock eyes with the beautiful blonde actor.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He said with a smile and stepped forward with his hand out to shake. His voice a deep and creamy tone, it wrapped around you like a warm blanket, working its way under your skin where it wreaked havoc on your insides and stole your breath.
“Yikes.” You breathed you out just barely above a whisper. Morgan, standing that close definitely head you and her head snapped over to look at you stunned. You were never at a loss, this was really something. Your head was going a million miles a minute.
My god he is gorgeous. Those eyes, what color is that? Green? No, green is to plain, their jade maybe. Like two beautiful jade stones bewitched to suck the breath and sole right out of you.
“You alright, love?” He asked, smile still in place only now with a hit on smugness to it.
Fuck me, that voice, that accent.
You shook your head to clear your thoughts and managed to pull yourself together quickly.
“Sorry, yes hi. Lovely to meet you Ben. I’m Y/N Y/L/N.” You replied with a dazzling smile. You reached your hand out to shake his still waiting one.
“My apologies my hands are a bit cold. They love to keep this building like a meat locker.” You laughed doing your best to cover up the brain malfunction you suffered a minute ago. His deep chuckle vibrated down his arm, through your connected hands and spread across your body causing you to shiver slightly.
“Nah they’re perfect.” He said closing your hand in both of his and bring them to his lips to place the softest kiss on your knuckles. You prayed to any version of god that may be listening, that Ben didn’t hear the soft whimper that managed to squeak out.
Fuckin hell why even have knees if they are just going to stop working.
He gently released your hand. A soft blush and grin spread across his face. More time then you realised must have passed as you both just stared at each other because Morgan cleared her throat and it made you jump.
“Um right ok. So Ben, i know Tommy was supposed to do this interview with you but his wife is actually giving birth as we speak so you’re stuck with me.” You laughed, shrugging your shoulders hoping to ease the tension.
“You say it like it’s a bad thing.” He replied, tilting his head sweetly to the side. You laughed nervously and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear. You glanced down trying to hide your blush before looking back up at him.
“Yes well uhh, why don’t you take a seat in front of the camera and we’ll get started.” He nodded and took the seat opposite the one you were in earlier. When you turned to look at Morgan her eyebrows were raised and she had a massive, all knowing grin on her face.
“Shut up.”
“I didn’t say anything!” She laughed.
“Yeah but you were thinking about it.” You said and took your seat across from Ben. You let out a deep breath and pretended to look through the papers from Tommy. You boss said something about Morgan handling the mics and the camera before leaving the room. Morgan handed you your mic pac and helped Ben with his.
Ok you can do this. He’s just a normal guy. An incredibly gorgeous and sweet guy but still just normal. I mean it’s not like he’s a prince or anything.
You took another deep breath and looked up. Morgan was finished with his mic and was now behind the camera giving you a thumbs up that she was ready to go.
“Ready?” You asked Ben with a smile.
“Ready.” He answered and slid his phone back into his pocket. You watched as his eyes moved from the floor, over your body slowly and finally meeting you gaze where he licked his lips and pulled the bottom one between his teeth to bite on before letting it go and a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
“Wet”
“What?”
“What!”
“I thought you said something.” He said a hint of blush covering his cheeks.
Oh my fucking god you are an idiot! Did you seriously just say that out loud!?
“Uh m..me? No...no i..i didn’t say anything.” You stumbled over yourself and looked to Morgan, your eyes wide. She had a horrified shocked look on her face. Oh she definitely heard what you said.
God just take me out back and put me out of my misery. Come on Y/N get your shit together. Deep breath. You’re a professional, act like it.
You managed to get it together and continue on with the interview without embarrassing yourself again.
“Y/N, do you mind if I run to the toilet quickly?” Ben asked after about a half an hour of questions. You shuddered at the sound of him saying your name.
“Of course, It’s just down the hall to the left.”
“I’ll be right back.” He said and let his hand brush across the length of your shoulders from behind your chair as he walked by. As soon as the door was closed behind him, Morgan jumped into his empty seat across from you, a huge smile on her face.
“Y/N oh my god!” She shreked. “I have never seen you like this before.”
“I know. I have no idea what's happening to me.” You groaned and hid your face in your hands.
“I can’t believe you said wet out loud. I mean i understand the thought because damn that boy is gorgeous and the way he was eyeing you up!” She fanned herself. “But to say it out loud!”
“Uggh stop please. I have never been so embarrassed. He’s so sweet and funny, and the way he talks. Not just the accent but the words he uses and how he carries himself. I just melt at the fuckin thought of him.”
“I wouldn’t be too embarrassed, he’s clearly into you as well.” She said and patted your knee.
“Yeah well if he is, he is doing a much better job of being subtle. I couldn't even tell you what some of his answers were. All I can think about when he talks is how amazing it would be to have him whisper into my neck all the dirty things he wants to do to me while his big strong hands run all over me.”
Morgan opened her mouth to say something but the sound of the door closing caught both of you off guard and you looked to see Ben standing by the now closed door.
“Everything alright ladies?” He asked with a smile and your entire body felt like it was on fire. You were sure your face was beat red.
Please, please, please tell me he didn’t hear any of that.
“We’re fine. I believe Y/N only has a few more questions so we should be done soon.” Morgan saved.
“Actually, That's it. The rest of these are just nonsense ones Tommy left behind.” You said, standing at removing your mic pac. You never wanted an interview to be over so much in your life and you've interviewed some terrible people.
“So we’re done then?” Ben asked and you nodded. “Shame, I was having such a nice time.” You watched as Morgan helped him remove his mic. As she pulled the wire from under his shirt it got caught and she lifted his shirt to free it. Catching a glimpse of what was under his shirt sent your head reeling. You felt dizzy.
Well if I didn’t need Morgan to run out and get me new underwear before, i definitely do now.
You had to bite your lip to keep from moaning out loud and causing yourself to further die of embarrassment. You looked up to see Ben watching you, a red flush on his cheeks and down his neck, he was sporting a shy smile.
Morgan eyed to the two of you before she spoke.
“I’m going to go put the equipment away. Ben if i don’t see you again before you leave It was great meeting you and i hope you come back soon.” Ben managed to collect himself and turned towards her.
“It was great meeting you as well Morgan. And not to worry I will definitely be back. Even if it’s just to say hello.” He smiled in his charming way and she smiled back and left the room. He turned to look at you.
“Y/N it’s been an absolute pleasure to speak with you today. I look forward to doing it again soon.” His voice was softer than it had been all day. You could feel yourself swooning.
Don’t pass out, don’t pass out, don’t pass out.
“I loved speaking with you too. Well for your next project or when stop by to say hello, make sure you come see me. I’ll be here.” His smile widened and he opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by your boss entering the room.
“Oh good Ben, you haven't left yet. Come to my office.” He said throwing an arm over the blonde’s shoulders and pulling him from the room. Ben looked back at you and all you could do was wave and watch him walk away.
You went back to your office where Morgan was waiting for you.
“Oh my god pleeease tell me something happened after I left.” She begged the second you walked in the door. You laughed and shook your head.
“Seriously!” She groaned.
“I mean, I thought maybe he was going to say something but Max came in and took him to his office."
"Ugh that sucks. I thought for sure he was gonna ask you out or at least throw you up against the wall and make sweet, passionate love to you."
"Morgan!"
"What!?" She laughed and you cracked a smile. You really would be lost without her.
"Knock knock." Both you and Morgan jumped, her knocking the phone off your desk in the process, and turned to your open door to see Ben.
Jesus! What is with this day!?
"Ben, I uhh, thought you left." You stammered as Morgan picked your phone up off the floor and placed it back on you desk.
"I was just on my way out actually. Just wanted to say goodbye before I go." He explained, stepping into the room.
"I'm just gonna go finish some work." Morgan said gesturing towards the door before making her way over to it.
"Thank you Morgan." You said with a look. She nodded at Ben as she walked by and he smiled in reply. When she was behind him she gave you a thumbs up and a wink before closing the door.
Ben had his hands shoved deep in his pockets as he rocked on his heels, he eyes not leaving the floor. Suddenly he was a completely different person. Earlier he was this sexy, confident, slightly cocky guy and now he was shy, self conscious, almost cuddly.
“So umm.” He scratched at the back of his head. “I wanted to ask, would you uhh, maybe like to go to dinner with me some time?” Your heart was pounding in your chest.
“Really?” You asked quietly. You couldn't believe it. You had done nothing but make a fool out of yourself all day and yet here you were. He nodded, kicking his foot a little.
God he’s so cute.
“I'd love to.” His head snapped up a shocked expression on his face.
“Yeah?” He asked, hopeful.
“Yeah, of course.” He let out a breath and a huge, shining smile took over his face.
Ugh that smile. Kill me.
“That’s...that’s great.” He gushed. “How desperate would i seem if I asked if you were free tonight?” He smirked. You laughed and smiled at him.
“Not desperate at all and im totally free."
"So dinner tonight then?" He asked, taking a small step closer.
"Dinner tonight." You confirmed. He reached into his pocket and passed you his phone to put your number in.
"I'll text you in a bit, time and place." He said now standing much closer. You entered your number and handed the phone back to him. You hands brushed his and you felt sparks shot up your arm.
"Sounds good." He smiled softly and leaned in to press a tender kiss to your cheek, one hand laid gently on your hip. The feel of his strong hand on your hip sent waves of heat washing over your entire body. Before moving away he whispered into your skin.
“I’ll see you later, love.”
Oh great. Nice subtle way to tell me you definitely hear me earlier.
He pulled back and sent a wink your way before walking to the door. He turned and gave you one last smile before leaving. You yelled for Morgan to come in after he was far enough away.
“I know, I know.” She said excitedly running into your office. “ I heard everything! I left your desk phone on intercom so i could listen in from my desk.”
“Morgan!”

I was the one with the ask. I want to apologize. I didn't wanna come across as rude. I love your blog. It was an honest question, since I haven't seen any spoilers which indicate that Cas and Dean are gonna make up. Also I have only seen spoilers where they said that the conflicts goes on after ep 9. Last thing was that Jensen didn't mention Cas as a reason for Dean being sad. But I saw ppl saying that Dean is gonna be shedding tears over Cas. I'd like to know if there's any reference material.
Okay so the first thing I need to stress here as in all cases is this: PR is not showrunning. I know I know, we say it all the time. You can’t really rely on small soundbites from the actors taken from interviews and put into clickbait articles usually to satisfy a specific writers agenda depending on the article they are writing.
The second thing to remember: People are going to hype up and sensationalise things on social media to gain attention, likes, notes, etc. You cannot rely on this information either.
What we actually know:
Misha said this: “Cas will return to the bunker and the boys. He’ll be sort of driven back into collaborating with them because we’re still confronting the big bad, which is God. But that tension between Cas and Dean will play out for some time, and we won’t really have a resolution to that. I think the audience, and frankly Cas, will finally understand what it is that’s upsetting Dean so much in episode 9. So we’re a ways off from that arc feeling like it’s resolved.”
This quote is from this article.
Then at DCCon the other weekend, the last question asked by Mel aka @/mishasdiary on Twitter, was basically to know if Dean and Cas patch things up and Jensen answered this:
“I will say this, there is an answer to your question in the show. It will be in episode 9 which we just finished. Let’s just say that Dean has a moment by himself, where he prays to Cas. That is a bit of a confession on why he feels the way he feels and why he treated Cas the way he treated him.”
You can see the answer here at about 58 minutes in (last question).
In your ask you sent me yesterday, you also referred to another article (link here) written with soundbites from Jensen. I believe you were referring to this:
"I think the state of his brother always worries Dean. That's who he fights for," Jensen Ackles told TV Guide. "When that support, that base strength in his life starts to waver and [he] starts to second guess himself, that will certainly affect Dean in a way of, 'I can't let him go down this road' or 'I need to figure out a way to help him out.' So it'll be a struggle, not against each other, but for each other. Sam is struggling to find a purpose and Dean is struggling to help Sam find purpose."
But this is standard talk from Jensen and it is also correct so I don’t see why anyone would read this and feel threatened about Dean’s relationship with Cas? Come on now, we aren’t like Bronly’s threatened by Cas’s mere presence. This is very true what Jensen is saying because the brothers are toxically codependent. But there is a true bond between them which has been poisoned over time. Yes Dean will be worried about Sam because Dean is always worried about Sam, but Sam is not part of the Dean and Cas break up narrative.
Jensen also had this to say which I thought was interesting:
[about Sam hypothetically dying] "That would have to be a bridge crossed when he came to it," Ackles said. "Right now, and for a long time, Sam's been the reason that Dean keeps fighting. If you take that away from him, then what does he have? Is there a will to keep going? I don't know how that would shape up from Dean's perspective. Maybe he finds something to fight for or maybe he finds somebody to fight with. Maybe he calls it quits."
So this is Jensen contemplating what life would be like for Dean without Sam, and he’s hardly saying “well if Sam died Dean would also want to die” because Jensen most likely knows that isn’t the case anymore. Bobo has been picking apart that particular arc ever since he wrote Red Meat.
So anyway, brushing off Jensen’s interview aside as nothing even remotely alarming or concerning for DeanCas fans (because we do NOT see Sam as a threat to our ship), lets talk about the prayer. We got Jensen’s spoiler first, and given this was fresh in Jensen’s mind, only shortly after he filmed it, I reckon we can safely assume that what he has told us is at least somewhat accurate (though we cannot of course account for how this may be cut in the editing room).
Episode 9 is Bobo’s episode. Bobo is basically holding the mantle for the DeanCas emotional arc this season (and last season) so I fully expect this to be the next big turning point in Dean and Cas’s relationship. Jensen has confirmed that when Dean is alone, he prays to Cas.
This is already setting a super intimate scene. Dean rarely prays as it is. We haven’t seen him pray to Cas since season 9. The fact that he is alone and not with Sam also confirms the level of intimacy. We can assume that Dean sought privacy for this prayer.
Now, Jensen goes on to say that Dean will explain how he feels and why he treated Cas how he did. This is already sounding like a proper explanation and potentially an apology. We will learn the mystery of why Dean (in Misha’s words) has been acting like such a prick. I never had any doubt that they would eventually explain it. I trust Bobo has planned this all out and knows what he is doing. He likes exploring Dean’s emotional responses - anger comes from fear and worry. Dean is terrified. That is usually why he acts out. Bobo has previously confirmed this and it was even stated in the show itself in Bobo’s episode 14x09 via Kaia. I think that Dean’s treatment of Cas is based on fear. This is why we are so excited (when I say “we” here, I mean me and the general group of wonderful people I scream with daily about this dumb show aka a bunch of meta writers or at least meta literate people). So Jensen has confirmed that we will get a proper explanation of WHY he treated Cas and also HIS FEELINGS on the matter.
The MOST interesting part of Jensen’s spoiler, is that he called the whole thing a CONFESSION. Dude. The last time Dean confessed to anything was in a church and it almost gave me a heart attack. Since that scene was the closest this show has ever come so far to Dean actually coming out of the fucking closet.
So not only is this an intimate prayer to Cas, an explanation of his bad treatment of Cas and an admittance of his feelings over the whole thing, its also a confession.
Interesting choice of words Jensen. Confession to what exactly? Because this is starting to feel suspiciously like a very profound moment between our two boys. It’s clearly an important scene.
Then Misha on top of this, has confirmed that Cas hears the prayer. Which yay for starters, and also think about how he explained the situation:
“But that tension between Cas and Dean will play out for some time, and we won’t really have a resolution to that. I think the audience, and frankly Cas, will finally understand what it is that’s upsetting Dean so much in episode 9. So we’re a ways off from that arc feeling like it’s resolved.”
You have to read this entire paragraph as one:
The tension will play out for sometime but Cas and the audience will understand what the deal is in episode 9. So we are a way off from that arcs resolution.
When Misha was talking about the resolution being way off, he was talking about the time between now and episode 9. He confirms that it is at least somewhat resolved in episode 9. That’s what I interpret as being implied here anyway.
This plus Jensen’s entire answer was to the question “when will Dean and Cas patch things up?” Jensen answered “episode 9″.
Like??? How are people misunderstanding this and blowing it so far out of proportion? Bitter people are so desperate to cling to their negativity that they are totally misinterpreting the information they are being given. It’s extremely frustrating.
Anyway, the one other gripe you had was about Dean’s prayer being about Sam or because he is worried about Sam. Okay except that has come out of absolutely nowhere other than bitters who are actually threatened by Sam which I find utterly ridiculous. So what if the prayer is triggered by Sam? Maybe Sam is in a perilous situation and Dean doesn’t know what to do so he prays. I mean, is that really so bad? Dean usually IS motivated by Sam, so it’s not exactly a huge deal. The main thing to focus on here is that the prayer will be about Dean and Cas and THEIR issues. It will resolve THAT ARC. The arc that doesn’t involve Sam.
Honestly, I don’t think that Dean’s prayer will be triggered by Sam though. Because Sam has never been part of this particular arc that Bobo has been writing. I mean maybe its possible that the whole thing could be triggered by Sam yelling at Dean to sort out his shit with Cas because they are stronger together and Sam is fed up of being stuck in the middle in which case GREAT because I would LOVE to see more exasperated Sam telling his brother to talk to his estranged husband. 12x10 is one of my all time favourite episodes BECAUSE OF SAM.
But again, I don’t think that an intimate private prayer confession from Dean to Cas will have anything to do with Sam because quite frankly, I can’t see how to fit him in a way that makes sense outside of my own 12x10 repeat above.
So please, stop panicking over things we don’t know. Stop making negative assumptions. Focus on the good stuff and enjoy what the show is giving us right now. I’m still riding the DeanCas break up scene high because that shit was romantic AF and no one can tell me otherwise. I’m still amazed that in this shows final season Dean and Cas’s emotional arc is getting pushed into the A plot. In all the years of watching this show this has only ever been the case once before and that was in 13x01-13x06. This is a huge deal. Enjoy it and stop letting negative Nancy’s drag you down.

She sits in her chair, leg bouncing up and down as she waits for him. Tom’s late, and it only serves to make her nerves even worse.
Sure, no one would think that Y/F/N Y/L/N, an international theatre star, would get nervous because of a stupid interview, but there she was, feeling like a sinner in church, about to enter the confessional. Only, the priest wasn’t even there yet!
She looks at the cameras in front of her, seeing her expression mirrored in the lenses. Her eyebrows are furrowed, her lips pressed into a thin line in an attempt to not bite at her nails. She shakes her head, thinking this can’t be worse than any other interview she’d done before, which only pushes more thoughts into her head.
Of course this isn’t the first time she’d done an interview. Of course she shouldn’t be worried about what was about to happen. Only, this wasn’t just any interview. This was her first interview on the Ellen Show. She remembers how she’d dreamt about this when she first started acting, and now here she was, about to reach that point in her career.
The fact that it isn’t the actual live version of the show kind of serves to soothe her worries, but at the same time also gives her more to worry about. A live interview is scripted. She gets to know what the questions will be before she even enters the stage where the interviewer shoots them at her. She has some type of control over the situation.
Ellen’s burning questions is everything but that. Unscripted, unedited, uncensored, unnerving. So, even if it is just a YouTube special, it definitely gets her blood boiling.
The door opened, and in he walked, 15 minutes late. If she thought about it, it wasn’t that bad. Maybe he was busy. Maybe he had an interview right before this. Maybe traffic was being a bitch and he couldn’t make it in time no matter how hard he tried. But Y/N would not have it. Already nervous and sweating, she shook her head at her co-worker and rolled her eyes as he made his way over to his seat, saying sorry to everyone but her. God, she hated Tom.
When she first heard that she would be working with him on the new Loki series, she was ecstatic. She had dreamt about working with Marvel and this was the epitome of awesome, since she had heard about how great of an actor Tom was and she idolized the guy. But, as most of these type of encounters go, she was left disappointed.
The first time she met him was on the day where they had their chemistry read. Hellos were exchanged before they both sat down at a table with the producers and writers and casting directors for the series. It was nerve-wracking. She had never acted in anything but a theatre play before, and she knew this would be way more demanding.
So, she sat down, looked at Tom who seemed more indifferent than anyone she had ever seen in her life. He didn’t even spare her a second glance, let alone bother getting to know her.
But, she read her lines, he read his, they clicked while in character, the filming started the very next week, and now here they were promoting a series which had both their names distinguishably written in its trailer. Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the god of mischief and lies, and Y/F/N Y/L/N as Eir, a goddess and Valkyrie, who somehow managed to sneak her way into the prince’s heart.
Y/N watches as Tom takes his seat, his eyes shifting between her and the cameraman. He gives the cameraman a nod and they start rolling. She is left gob-smacked at how easily he commands the room, even without a word.
God, she hates Tom. She hates stupid, tall, handsome, British Tom. And more than anything, she hates that she can’t hate him, no matter how much of an ass he is.
“Hi, I’m Y/F/N Y/L/N,” he says, making her turn to him, expression shocked as ever.
“And I’m Tom Hiddleston,” she says, taking the lead from him. If he was playing a game, she would definitely show him how to change the rules. “And we’re in the hot seat to answer Ellen’s burning questions.” She smiles at the camera, waiting for Tom to ask the first question as it appears on the teleprompter.
“What is the most rebellious thing you did as a teenager?” Tom asks. He looks to Y/N, the smirk on his lips a dare to her.
“I took my dad’s credit card and bought myself school supplies,” she answers easily, pressing the red button in front of her.
Tom shakes his head, the smirk on his lips never failing. “Really?” he asks.
“What?” She turns to him, only to catch him rolling his eyes. “I was a good kid, okay?” she laughs. This was the part she knew she had to play. It needed to look like they were the best of friends, otherwise some gossip show would definitely milk this for all it’s worth. “What about you, mister ‘vanilla’?”
His tongue pokes out of his mouth, going over his bottom lip as he thinks about his answer. She can’t help but stare as he takes his hand and rubs at his beard. Her heart is definitely pumping more blood than it should be. “You’re not supposed to think, just say the first thing that comes to mind,” she says, making him shake his head.
“I went skinny dipping.” He pressed the red button, changing the question on the screen.
Y/N was sure she was as red as the buttons in front of them, the image of a young, wet, naked Tom running through her head. “You’ve gotta read the next question, love,” he says, a chuckle punctuating his sentence.
“What do you wear to bed at night?” she asks, shaking her head as her palm finds her face. This would be the death of her.
“Well, if you must know. I sleep naked,” he says. “What about you, Y/N?” And there is his tongue again, out to play.
“I wear pajamas, like a normal person.” She presses the button, laughing, prompting Tom to do the same and the question changes once again.
“What is your favorite curse word?” Tom reads, leaning back into his seat, seemingly more relaxed.
“Easy, fuck me.” Y/N presses her button, turning to Tom, whose left eyebrow is raised in question. “I like to keep it all directed towards me, y’know. They say you get what you give, so I’d rather not put that energy out into the universe.” Y/N laughs, waiting for Tom to answer.
“Mine’s shit or cunt. It depends on the day.” He says, pressing the button.
The question changes and this time Y/N’s eyes widen. “What body part of your co-star do you like the most?” she reads.
“Hmm… well… this isn’t degrading at all. I’m not just a piece of meat, you know?” Tom says. He turns to look at Y/N, who’s chewing on her lip. Oh, this was something he wasn’t expecting. “I think… Your smile. I definitely like your smile.”
Tom watched as pink dusted her cheeks, her lips pulling into a tinier version of said smile.
“I like Tom’s work ethic,” she answers, pressing the button in front of her, getting ready to read the question.
Tom stops her. “Wait, wait. It says ‘body part’, I don’t think my work ethic is exactly a body part, love.” Tom smirks.
Y/N shakes her head. This was the most conversation he had ever held with her and he’s trying to make her divulge something she’s not comfortable with. “Sorry to disappoint you Tommy, but you’re a workaholic. Work ethic is etched on your face every single day.” She smirks as his expression falls. “But, if you must know, I like your eyes.”
Tom’s lips pull into a smirk, his eyes never leaving her. “Why?”
She interrupts Tom’s prying with another question. “Who was your first celebrity crush?” Y/N asks, turning to Tom who seems to be overthinking the question by the way his eyebrows are lifted.
“I think… Jennifer Love Hewitt.” Tom presses his button.
“Easy, Sean Connery,” Y/N says, quickly pressing the button.
Tom looks to her, seeing the way she gets giddier and giddier as the questions come and go. “Sean Connery?” he asks her.
Y/N trails her gaze from the teleprompter to Tom, her Y/E/C eyes meeting his. “Yes? Got a problem with that, Hiddleston?”
Tom shakes his head, chuckling, the very sound making Y/N shiver in delight. “No, love. I’d just never taken you for a girl that likes older guys. He was like what… 60 when you were born?”
“I like watching old movies. When I first saw him he was 30, that is, on the screen.” Y/N shrugged and giggled. She looked back to the teleprompter, missing the hopeful look in Tom’s eyes.
“What is the one thing you love in a man?” Tom asks, laughing at the way the question was formulated. “Well, let’s see. I like someone who is strong, who takes care of his body, has lots of money…” Tom counted on his fingers, making Y/N laugh. God, her laughter was definitely one thing he loved about her. He didn’t know why, but he just did. Maybe it was the way she could never fake her real laugh, no matter how good of an actress she was. She couldn’t mimic the way her eyes laughed as her lips pushed at her cheeks. She couldn’t mimic that melodious sound that just had him trapped, wanting to laugh along with her. It was simply and utterly entrancing and contagious.
The first time he met her, he didn’t know what to think. He watched her walking through the doors, her steps careful and calculated, but her smile more genuine than any he had ever seen. One look at her and he was definitely interested. Interested in finding out more about the girl who was so confident and at the same time, so bashful. He checked himself before he could do something stupid, since he didn’t know if he would even get the chance to know her better.
The second he heard she had been chosen as Loki’s love interest, he was over the moon. He thought that maybe, just maybe, he could get her to agree to go on a date with him. To talk about their interests and get to know each-other outside the workplace.
That dream was shattered as soon as he had learned that she was maybe just a bit too young for him. With nine years difference between them, he couldn’t imagine how she would ever say yes to him when she most definitely had better options out there. So, he ripped the band aid before he got himself hurt, and decided that it would be better if he didn’t get too close.
But now, after he had gotten a bit of insider info, he thought that maybe he had been a bit too harsh in his “not getting too close”. He had utterly avoided her, going as far as to not say hello. And even though his anxiety played part in that, he still felt awful. He had definitely been a dick.
“Tom?” Her voice snapped him out of his trance, his eyes finally focusing on the question.
“So, what about you, love? What do you like in a man?” Tom asked again.
Y/N looks to Tom, who’s obviously more interested in her answer than he should be. Her best guess: He’s messing with her. He figured out she likes him and he’s messing with her. “Well, I like someone who’s true to his feelings,” she says, staring him right in the eye. She presses the button, startling Tom as he shamefully lets his eyes fall to his own button.
“And that… was it! You guys better watch…”
“Actually, we have one more question,” Tom interrupts as Y/N’s eyes narrow.
“No we…”
“Yes, we do. I’m going to lay all my cards out on the table and say that I’d really like to take you out on a date.” Tom’s eyes don’t leave Y/N as the camera keeps rolling. He doesn’t care that the whole world will know about this. He doesn’t care, because he knows that whatever will happen after this, the world will have no say in. “So, last question: Will you go on a date with me?”
Y/N’s eyes staring deeply into his, searching for something that might tell her that he’s just playing. That this was just some type of publicity stunt to make the series more popular. But all that she could see was, honesty. Honesty and hope.
“O…kay?”
A smile pulled at Tom’s lips as he turned back to the camera. “Well, there you have it folks. This has been burning questions. Please go watch the new Loki series. Lots of mischievous love from us to you.”
The camera stopped rolling. Y/N and Tom stood up from their seats, turning to each-other. They could feel the eyes of those in the room focused on them, waiting to see what would happen.
“We should… probably talk more in private…” Y/N says, suddenly feeling bashful.
“Yeah, we should.” Tom couldn’t believe his luck. Even though it might’ve been for the camera and for the sake of dodging a scandal, she had still said yes. And he would most likely make the best out of it.
“So, what’s this about?” Chris asks as his best friend. The screen of his phone shows Tom, who’s obviously still in bed, having just been woken up by Chris’s call.
“Wait a second, mate.”
Chris watches as Tom stands up slowly, quietly walking out of his bedroom and into his living room, closing the door behind him. “What’s what about?” Tom asks.
Chris rolls his eyes, obviously annoyed with Tom’s secret-keeping. The whole world knows and he had to find out through a YouTube video. “Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about, Tom. I know you know what I’m talking about. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Tell you what?” Tom rubs the sleep from his eyes, making Chris’s eyebrows furrow. He was definitely surprised that Tom was still tired. If he had his math right, it should’ve been one in the afternoon in LA.
“Tell me that you’re dating Y/N!” Chris whisper-yells, not wanting anyone else to hear, just in case he’s wrong.
“Sorry, mate. I honestly thought you knew,” Tom laughed as he heard the door to the bedroom open.
“Hey, Chrisy!” Y/N said as she wrapped her arms around Tom’s neck, her face appearing on the screen.
“You guys are honestly the worst friends a guy can have! How long?” Chris asks.
“How long what?” Y/N kisses Tom’s cheek as she walks into the kitchen to get started on breakfast.
“Come on! How long have you two been together?!”
Tom looks to the ceiling, honestly amused at how angry his friend seems to be. “A few months?”
“A few MONTHS?!”
Tom chest shakes with laughter. “Yeah… since that Ellen interview? Right, love?”
“Yup!” Y/N says, coming back with two cups of tea in her hands. “Three months.” She sips from her tea, sitting down next to Tom who wraps an arm around her waist, pulling her closer. He sits his head on her shoulder, smiling widely at the camera.
“I really hate you guys,” Chris says, though he can’t help but smile at the sight of his two friends, together, sexual tension definitely long gone.
“No, you really love us.” Y/N makes a weird kissy-face towards the camera, making Chris laugh and Tom frown.
“Careful there, love. You’re making your boyfriend jealous.” Chris punctuates his sentence with a chuckle. “But I’m happy for you two. Just… make sure to not send the wedding invitation three months too late, okay?”
Tom and Y/N laugh, saying goodbye to Chris then cuddling on the couch. Enjoying their down-time together.
Tom looks down on his girlfriend of three months, and he can’t believe how lucky he is. He found someone who is so down to earth and so caring, what more could he want?
Y/N looks up to him, only to find him already staring down at her. “What’s on your mind?” she asks.
“Just thinking about how much I love you.” Tom’s lips find her in a slow, lazy kiss. “And thinking that we should probably thank Ellen for her stupid, little game.”

Thirsty Tweets
Hello! Happy Monday! I had a job that it turns out I can’t take because the hours are piss poor and unreasonable. But I hit 190 followers so sweet! I’m also a tad feverish so forgive the rambles. Below you’ll find the first of six requests I’ve taken off of the lovely @loki-the-fox. It says reader but so sorry- I typically write for OC’s and when it comes to RPF I refuse to write reader inserts- it’s my line. Sorry!
Masterlist
Request by Anon on 11/15/18 Hello! I had this sorta funny idea that I wanted to request? But basically Tom and the reader are both on the set for “reading thirst tweets” and while they both read them out loud they get shocked, flustered and possessive over each other as each one goes. The reader even agrees with some of them. I was either thinking that they could do a joint interview, like Kevin Hart and his wife, or they could watch each other read em out loud behind the camera ??? idk, I just thought how funny it would be to see Tom react to all the thirsty tweets he gets. If you can’t incorporate everything though, that’s completely okay!!
Thirsty Tweets
“Monica,Tom! Set in ten!” A crew member yelled after popping her head into the room I was currently pacing. Interviews and such were always hard for me. I had never really thought I would get to a place where I’d be doing interviews on live telly. I’d never thought I’d get this far at all to be honest, yet here I am.
“Your hands are shaking.”
Tom came out of nowhere or so it seemed. His footsteps always seemed soft and it never made any sense to me. The way he moved and walked showed his confidence. His steps would echo on solid floors but in here, the carpet silenced his movements letting him sneak up on me. I hated it. I hated how he would catch me off guard.
“I’m fine.”
I hated him. Or at least, I wanted to. He was tall and lean and beautiful. His kindness was remarkable. I could swear his voice, accent and all could melt butter fresh out of the fridge. And I had to spend the last year working with him. It wasn’t fair.
Before I would have sworn men like him were imaginary. Nope, turns out that’s not the case. They just are never interested in girls like me. That’s why I got the role of ‘Mary’. I was plain compared to the actresses he was used to working with but could clean up pretty. That was just what they needed.
Now I know the sad truth, men like him exist. I want one and can’t have one. Well, that’s not true, I had one. Well almost. I got to make friends with one while he pretended not to be one.
I know it’s a part of the job but after some of the scenes we’ve filmed together it’s hard not to get flustered around the man. He’s just so perfect and then knowing first hand what it feels like to have him almost naked and rutting against me- it’s just too much. I know what the man’s ass feels like for god’s sake. You grab that ass while hearing him moan in your ear and not feel anything. I’m an actress yes but I’m not immune to him.
I didn’t think it would be a problem. Don’t catch feelings for your coworkers. It seems like an easy enough rule and he played a bit of an asshole in his part. It should have been easy.
If it was so easy why was having him even in the same room as me making me turn into a freaking mess. It was honestly annoying. It wasn’t like me to be a flustered mess because of a man.
Filming is one thing. It’s my thing. It’s what I do. I always felt in my element. Getting on that stage where I’m just me was different. And being just me next to Him? Oh no, that’s a whole different ballgame and I suck at ball.
“You two are up.” The same woman popped her head in again and waved us on. Yay!
“It will be okay.” The sound of his voice drew my eyes to him and I hated it how the sound of it relaxed me. “I’ll take care of you.” He promised me and my mind went right to the gutter.
Rather than say the not so professional thought that ran through my head I just nodded mutely and went to follow him out. Tom however wouldn’t have that and instead he took my hand and tucked it around his arm. This man, I can’t even begin to deal with him. If only he wasn’t so nice. That would make it easier.
“Welcome! I’m so glad to have you both!” Neil stood from behind his desk on the bright stage as they stepped on. “I’ve got Tom Hiddleston and Monica Martin from the new film ‘Before Dawn’ here with me today. Gosh, it’s so good to have you both here.”
Neil shook Tom’s hand and pulled him into a quick hug, clapping him on the back before turning his attention to me with a whistle. I always hated how I felt like a piece of meat on these type of shows.
“You look amazing, Monica. Doesn’t she look great, Tom?”
“Thank you.” I hated how my face felt warm as Tom took a moment to eye me as if he hadn’t seen me pacing around the room for the last 20 minutes or so. He was such a good actor that he could almost convince me that he was impressed with the little blue dress I wore when he agreed.
After being pulled into a hug I took my place on the couch next to Tom. Heat radiated off of him and I tried to ignore it. I really did. It was just as hard to try and ignore how good he smelled. But I had to try. I had to somehow survive this interview and the rest of the press tour.
“Now, Monica- You’ve made a bit of a splash with your role as Mary. This is your first major break, isn’t that right?”
I nodded but Tom answered before I could find my voice. “She’s amazing in it.”
“Thank you.” Don’t blush. Don’t blush. I’m blushing.
“Now you’ve both been working very close during filming. What’s it like working with someone as well known as Tom?” There was no way to avoid answering that question myself. When the weight of Tom’s hand settled on my knee I took a deep breath to try and steady my voice. He gave what I’m sure he thought was a reassuring squeeze. All it did was send butterflies into a frenzy inside my stomach.
“Tom’s been amazing to work with.” I freaking gush and it’s hard not to cringe at how fan girl I sound. “He’s been so kind and patient with me.”
“Such glowing praise.” Neil opened two envelops of and pulled out stacks of cards as Tom laughed and fidgeted in his seat. Even when he is fidgeting he looks good and I hate him for it. Or at least, I want to.
“We’re going to play a game.” Neil announces to us and frankly I hate games.
“A game?” I parrot back dumbly and instantly wish I could just keep my mouth closed. Games on shows like this were never a good thing.
“I’m going to give you a stack of cards with tweets on them about Tom.” Neil reached out with a stack of cards over his desk and reluctantly I take them.
“Oh gosh.” As I take the cards I can’t help but laugh. I don’t want to play this game.
“After he’s going to read some about you.” Tom snags his envelop with his stack of cards still inside.
“This will be fun.” He says as he laughs and it’s not fair that his laugh sounds that good.
“Go on, let’s get started!” Neil sits back in his office chair behind his desk to enjoy the show.
“They could make a movie of Tom Hiddleston just drinking tea and I’d fucking watch it.” I couldn’t help but laugh after I finished reading the tweet. “You wouldn’t be alone.” I admit.
“Would you watch it?” Tom nudged my shoulder with his as he laughed.
“I’ve seen you drink plenty of tea already, thank you.” He pouted and I laughed harder at him because what else can you do? “Okay next one. ‘Tom Hiddleston could run me over on his run and I’d suck his dick.’ Well that escalated.” I laugh and look to Tom. “Please never run me over during your morning runs?”
“I promise not to!” We both seemed to be working hard to ignore the fact that I just had to say ‘I’d suck his dick’. I mean- that’s what the tweet said but still. There was a blush on his face and I’m sure I looked no better.
“Oh god.” I laugh before reading the next one. “Tom could not shower for six months and I’d still let him fuck me.”
“What?” He couldn’t stop laughing. “I’m worried about this person. Value yourself. Know your worth. Insist on regular showering.”
“I’d not let you near me if you haven’t showered in even a few days. I know how you sweat after your runs.”
“They are just getting worse and worse.” Tom was fidgeting more and more. He took his glasses off and cleaned them at least three times since we have started and in general he was simply not sitting still.
“Tom could-” my laughter cut off the words. “Tom could bend me over and.. I can’t read this. I- Nope.” I tapped out as Tom snagged the last paper from me.
“Oh dear.” He said sternly. “I think I’d like to try this.”
I could have died when he winked at me and slipped the paper into his pocket. What the hell did that even mean!? Who did he want to try that with? Why did I care? Oh right, because he’s fucking beautiful and sweet and sexy and the idea of him doing what was written on that paper was so out of left field.
I mean really, Handcuffs? Bent over a counter? Mirrors? That’s not exactly light weight naughty in my book and while it totally would fit the character he played in ‘Before Dawn’ I didn’t expect that out of him. And why for the love of god and all that is holy did he wink at me?! Why the hell did I feel like I was on fire? Am I on fire?
“You still with us Monica?” Neil’s voice cut through my thoughts and oh fuck, I zoned out thinking about Tom and handcuffs. It’s a good thing I’m not a man because there would be some damning evidence on cable TV of where my thoughts went.
“Yeah sorry!” This could be easily brushed off, right?
“Where did you go?” Tom asked and I wanted to kill him, I really did.
“Oh, just you know.” Great. Classy. Good job Monica. Way to go. Could I make it any more obvious? Someone stop me.
“Well you’re done for now. I’ll let you off the hook. See, that wasn’t such a bad game!” Neil laughs as he motions to Tom. “Tom’s turn to start reading.”
“Oh god.” The groan comes out before I could stop it as he pulls out the cards.
“Monica’s got that girl next door you’d like to bone thing going on.” Tom reads before laughing. “None of the girls next door looked half as good as she does. Where did this fellow grow up? I should have lived there.”
I try not to blush. It’s just an act and it’s what’s expected of him. Still, it’s hard not to have butterflies when someone like him agrees with something like that.
“Whatever.” The word is mumbled and I did mean to say it.
“Whatever?” There is a hint of challenge in Tom’s voice. “I’m serious.”
I try and deflect with fidgeting and laughing. It works for him, it could work for me, right? Yeah, no. I’m pretty sure I’m not selling the fidget look like he does. He had to plan his fidgeting. That’s the only way it could come off so well for him. That made sense, right?
“Next up! We’ll do a few more then switch again. They get better and better.” Neil urged and I was worried.
“Okay, okay.” Tom relented and I could feel the seat of the couch shift as he moved to try and get comfortable. “’I’d like to put Monica up on that counter and eat her like a sweet potato pie.’ Wow.” It was weird seeing Tom as a loss for words. His cheeks burned and the blush looked good on him.
“That’s… I’m never going to eat sweet potato pie again.” I force out as I tried to act like I was okay with strangers saying that to me. As if they hadn’t been screaming those things at me since I was 13.
“I’ve never had sweet potato pie and now I…” Shaking his head, Tom fidgeted more, loosening his tie as Neil laughed. It was entertaining for him and for the masses. Our ‘fans’ would eat up our discomfort and we’d play it off as if it was nothing because we are ‘actors’ and we’re ‘public commodities’.
“Next, next.” Neil urged.
“Monica could take a strap on and wreck my ass and I’d thank her.” Tom cleared his throat. “Well now. Perhaps these thoughts are better kept to oneself.”
I tried to laugh and something managed to come out of me. The look Tom gave me made me think he didn’t believe I found it funny at all. He’d be right about that. I wanted nothing more than for this interview to be over.
“Moving on.” I was thankful he didn’t want to dwell on that one. I wouldn’t be able to look him in the eye after him reading these things about me. “Monica is so hot I’d like to...”
“What?” Tom’s voice trailed off and his whole body seemed to stiffen next to me. It was confusing and I couldn’t understand what was going on.
“I’m not reading this filth.” Tom ripped the stack of papers in half before stacking them and ripping them again.
“Hey now, don’t be like that. It’s just a game.” Neil was clearly caught off guard by Tom’s reaction. I was as well, to be honest.
“Actually, no. I will be like this. I laughed and played along while you made her read inappropriate things said about me but I’ll not subject her to hearing such filth about her. Further, the things I am being asked to read about her are significantly worse than what you asked her to read of me.” Waving the stack of ripped papers at the desk. “This game is bloody disgusting. No one should be spoken about by strangers in such a way as they are speaking of her. No one.”
“Now, we didn’t mean any offense. It was just a fun little game.” Neil back peddled as Tom stood. His back was straight and his shoulders back. It was an impressive sight that made my breath catch in my lungs.
This wasn’t in the plan. We knew what sort of games Neil liked to play on his show. The only surprising thing was Tom’s reaction. It made no sense to me. Why was he acting like a noble and why the hell am I picturing him on a white horse sweeping in to save me.
My internal rambling is cut short when he reached back and plucked my hand up. With a firm tug he pulls me to my feet and I go willingly enough. What the hell is going on?
His grip was warm and firm and good god was his hand large. I wanted him to always hold my hand like this. Looking back, Neil was protesting and trying to salvage the situation but it was clear our interview was over. Tom pulled the microphone off and snagged mine off as well before tossing them both onto the couch behind us.
“Don’t worry, the fallout will land mostly on me.” Tom’s blue eyes turned back on me as he marched forward, pulling me along behind him even still by the hand.
“Tom?” Finally I was able to get control over my feet and plant them on the linoleum in the hall. He’d managed to make it a good ways dragging me behind him. “Why did you do that? What the hell?”
“I...” His voice tapered off and I was stuck watching as he fidgeted more. It really wasn’t fair how good he looked as he raked his fingers through his disheveled curls.
“You what?” I didn’t mean to snap at him, honest.
“I won’t act like I’m okay with people saying those things about you.” That made no sense. It comes with the job. Hell, it comes with being a damn woman.
“Why?” A sigh rips itself through my chest. “It’s not like you have a reason to care.”
“I beg your pardon?” The look in his eyes gave me pause. It was fierce and strong and sharp. He still had my hand in his iron tight grip. “I have every bloody reason to care.”
“I don’t understand?” Look at me, I’m clearly following what is going on here. Actually no, no I’m not. Because what it seems like is going on here is that I’ve lost my damn mind. Either that or Tom-
Never did he let go of my hand. That sticks out in my mind. Don’t judge me, it all happened so fast. One moment he was looking at me with that fierce look and the next his other hand was resting on my neck and pulling me toward him. I came willingly enough. How could I not? My whole brain seemed to stop working as he leaned down.
“Maybe you’ll understand this.” What does that even mean? Oh- Oh that’s what he means.
His lips were warm and soft. I could feel the scratch of his stubble against my face as his warm breath fanned out over me. He stepped forward and I blindly allowed him to lead me. How could I not? Part of me was scared that if I dared to open my eyes this would have been some crazy dream.
My back met the wall and that snapped me back to reality. When the hell did I put my hand on his chest? Why the hell am I running it up and wrapping it around his neck? What the fuck is going on? He pulled back, giving us some space between us and I gasped for air.
“Forgive me, that was very forward. I just-”
“Do it again.” I demanded even as I pulled him to me. “Do it again if you meant it.”
He didn’t need to be told twice. As his lips molded themselves against mine again I took a quick moment to mentally thank god and Neil for the Thirsty Tweets game.

Why do I ship Caryl?
So this wasn’t something I was planning to write, but after seeing this question come up time and time again, I finally decided to entertain it and meditate over it. Because honestly, this question is more relevant now more than ever:
Why do I ship Caryl?
This person’s comment that I saw on another post asked what I think is a genuine question nowadays, and that is “why does Caryl need to be in love? Everyone knows they have a special bond and they would kill for each other. Why does it need to be romantic?” They weren’t hateful, or spiteful, or saying that this other ship makes more sense. They were just curious.
It’s an even more relevant question now because of Melissa’s recent interview and what she said about Carzekiel and Caryl. She basically stated that Caryl is more important than romance, and they are arguably the person they’re closest with, but it is what it is. And she went on to point out that it’s been proven that she and Ezekiel are happy, and Daryl is happy for her.
Side note: I’m not bothered by what she said about the two b/c I can understand her point of view. She’s tired of being asked the same damn Caryl question over and over again, it’s been going on since season 2 and only vamped up at the start of season 5. She knows about the shipping wars, she knows fans can get riled up over her’s and Norman’s responses over this question, and she’s tired of answering it b/c there’s nothing left to answer (and I’m sure she’s tired of the hate that happens within the fandom, as well as what’s directed at her and norman). Plus, as an actor, I’m sure it bothers her that some people are disregarding/diminishing the Carzekiel bond b/c she’s put her heart into that role. She can’t control the writing, and her job is to follow the script and play her part, which she has, and I’m sure she is proud of what she’s done this filming season. So I’m sure it hurts her to know that ppl are writing off Carzekiel as more of a one sided relationship b/c that’s her hard work. She wants ppl to support her work, no matter how shitty it is, and I get that.
So the question remains, why do I ship Caryl?
I decided to really think on this question and give it a meaningful answer instead of what I usually talk about. So pushing aside all the superficial reasons or reasons that are just on the surface, why do I want them to be together? For one thing, it’s only natural for us humans to categorize things into groups. We do it all the time, even if we’re not thinking about it. Like for me, I put all the shirts and pants and sports bras I use for working out in one drawer, while I’ll put my pajama pants and shirts in a separate drawer. Then I’ll put my underwear, normal bras, and socks in another, etc. We also categorize people, so clicks for example, or how I work in this department while these people work in this department. It’s just human nature to categorize things. Personally, I think that is also the driving reason as to why people start to ship characters on shows, or at the very least debate if “these two will get together” because we like to put things into groups. Now I do understand that there are people who don’t ship at all, and that’s fine. In fact, that commenter was probably one of those people who didn’t understand shipping, and that’s okay. They’re just there for the story and entertainment.
But aside from the natural urge to think “will they/won’t they”, for me I officially began my shipping in season 3 after Carol flirted with Daryl on the bus, though I know many folks began during season 2, and rightfully so. To me, I think part of it was the natural chemistry between Daryl and Carol. It was one of those magical moments you only see once in a blue moon, when not even the writers expected it, but it came to light because of two great actors who caught each other’s wavelength immediately. That kind of chemistry you couldn’t help but want romance to happen because you know it would be explosive, a rarity when it comes to shows nowadays because things have become so predictable. And most actors/tv couples don’t have the amount of chemistry that Melissa and Norman do. The only other characters I can think of who have that chemistry is Jaime and Claire from Outlander, and Mulder and Scully from The X Files... so there's really not that many couples with that kind of electricity between them on tv.
I also wanted Caryl to happen because, to me, it’s the ultimate romantic trope. You have two people who had been abused and beaten for most of their lives, only to find someone who genuinely understands that because it happened to them too. They leaned on each other, whether purposefully or not, and were able to positively influence one another to become better, more confident people. And it was amazing, especially looking at Daryl’s evolution, to see these two people open up and allow themselves to receive comfort, understanding, and love from someone else. Daryl did not like being touched, it was obvious in season 2 when he flinched away from Carol. Now, he on the regular puts an arm around her, and is more than happy to receive her hugs as well as reciprocate them. To me, that’s incredibly beautiful to see two people with similar backgrounds come together like that. And I think it would be the ultimate ‘fuck you’ to everyone who had hurt them to have them fall in love and be happy with each other.
Why is it not enough for them to have a special bond? Because being in love is the closest you can be to someone. It’s something that I think they both deserve to have, and I think it would be extremely powerful if it were Carol and Daryl because they already have such an amazing bond to begin with. Having them become romantic would almost feel like a completion of their bond. It would be like Vegeta and Goku fusing together to become Vegeto, like the ultimate power (geek moment, sorry). Daryl has likely never been “in love” with someone before given his background, so it would be especially beautiful to see it happen for him, and to me, the only person I think he’d trust enough to open himself up for is Carol.
Having said all that, obviously that’s not where the writing is going in the show, which is very disappointing. I have no issues with Zeke, or Khary for that matter. It’s just disappointing that they had Carol get together with someone she hardly knew when she’s known Daryl since the beginning of the Turn. It’s true that there’s a possibility that Caryl is endgame, and it wouldn’t happen till the very end of the series. And maybe they’re those types of couples who really didn’t know they wanted to be together until it just clicks one day (I know two friends like that, where everyone thought they would be together eventually because they were such good friends. But it wasn’t until it just randomly clicked for them one day that they decided to give it a chance. She described it as them hanging out at her house and a lightbulb kind of went off and she just said ‘huh, I really like this guy’, and he wound up having the same thoughts... they’re still together :D).
But for the people who are genuinely curious as to why we ship it and why we’re so disappointed... more than anything, it’s because of a few factors:
1) Our passion for our ship has only grown b/c of the hatred we’ve gotten, and how often we’ve had to defend it. The more often we’ve defended it, the more emotional we become for our ship because we want to protect it. Those emotions we feel any time we have been attacked, or anytime we were disappointed sticks with you, and creates more and more stress for your fandom.
2) We have been trolled hard up until this filming season, and it feels like a slap in the face. Season 5 was amazing for Caryl the most part, but there were problems with the writing for Carol especially after that, and we didn’t have much Caryl screen time since. But the times we did, they were amazing scenes, and they were also the scenes that AMC would give sneak peaks with b/c they know they bring in viewers. That whole situation with Daryl finding Carol in the house was completely useless to the storyline, yet they put the money and the effort to create it. Carol even said that “she couldn’t lose him”, and Daryl made that selfless decision to not tell her about Glenn and Abraham. Then there was last year where amc’s first promotion photo was Caryl, and they published multiple pics of them two after. They had that photoshoot of the longest running cast members and it felt like a freaking prom shoot, with all of them posing together, one of which had the “couples” together. They even published a valentine’s day card with Daryl and Carol on it with a caption that says “true love”. Lennie James had even said that he didn’t think Morgan would have any relationship with Carol, not if Daryl had anything to say about it. Other shows have referenced Caryl before...
Long story short, we did not imagine this. We didn’t see something that wasn’t there. Even now, with AMC using Mcreedus to promote the new season, it just comes to show that they know Caryl brings in viewers. So to have Carzekiel happen is truly painful because they have dangled a piece of meat in front of us for years, only to give it to another ship. And maybe we have it wrong when it comes to Angela Kang. Maybe she didn’t write this and is actually doing us a favor by leaving no room to imagine that anything is going on with Caryl right now b/c she knows that we’ve been trolled a lot. Maybe she’s actually stopping the whole teasing thing, and if that’s the case then I do respect that. I’m not saying that is what’s going on but that’s always a possibility. But it’s really painful for us because we were teased, and we’re still ‘being used’ to this day for promotional reasons yet they’re doing the exact opposite.
It’s like when you’ve fallen in love with someone but they wound up saying they don’t feel the same, but at the end they go “but don’t worry, we can still be friends”... BITCH WHY WOULD I WANT TO BE FRIENDS WHEN I OBVIOUSLY WANTED SOMETHING MORE WITH YOU??!!
... I promise I’m calm.
I actually have a friend who’s a Bethyl shipper, and obviously we don’t see eye to eye with some things but we never talk about it with each other (it’s like politics and family). So when I found out about Carzekiel, I confided in her about it and she related with me. She said they teased Bethyl a bit in season 4, and they technically did. With the hand holding, Daryl carrying Beth around the house they stayed in, and even saying that he’s hopeful now because of her. As a caryl shipper, of course I would’ve argued that was more of a father/daughter bond, but now I can see it from her perspective, and how she felt when Beth died. I might not agree with her ship at all, but she understands what it is like to be trolled by amc only to have her heart ripped out, and she was a nice enough friend to not call me out and actually sympathized with me. And I’m grateful for that because she’s helped me more than she knows to cope with this mess.
Anyways, to put a huge explanation into a small summary: I began shipping Caryl (and I still do) because to me they are an amazing duo with intense chemistry, and they seem to be in perfect sync with each other. Soulmates is the perfect adjective to use to describe them because they just get each other, and they’re so close, it’s amazing to watch it on screen. They’re two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly with each other. Having them become romantic would just be an amazing experience to watch, to see two abused people come together like that and discover what it’s like to be deeply in love with someone. Maybe I have romanticized it when I shouldn’t have, but to have two people so close like that, it’s only natural for me to want them to be together romantically because I know they’d be very happy together.
Am I wrong to be so human?
Anyways, I’d like to hear from other caryl shippers as well. What made you decide to start shipping them. No debates, no hatred for other ships, just a gentle discussion of why we chose this fandom, and how much we loved (and still do) our ship.

Welcome to “8 Questions with…..”
It was the last week of January and someone mentioned that it was almost time for “Women In Horror Month” which happens in February. Feel a bit inspired I quickly tossed out a “interviews wanted” in my faithful casting group and got a very nice group of talented actresses who have worked in horror films who agreed to answer some questions. Its time to meet our next guest, the very spirited young actress Chelsea Jurkiewicz who is based in Salt Lake City,Utah. Chelsea has been performing for almost half of her life and she is just getting started. I got a chance to watch her work in the short film “Angie Bleeds” and I can assure you,she has some serious skills for someone so young. It takes a mature actor to handle sensitive issues in a film, most younger actors tend to go big but I was very impressed with mature Chelsea handled herself. Now she is having a bit of fun by starring in a new indie horror film, which is my cue to shut up and get out of the way of Chelsea answering her 8 Questions…..
Please introduce yourself and tell us about your latest project.
Hi! I’m Chelsea Jurkiewicz. I’m 21 years old, and I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. One of my latest projects is a horror movie called Abigail Haunting, where I play the lead role of Katie. We filmed it in Las Vegas. I got to work with an amazing team of multi-Emmy award winning filmmakers. It’s coming out this Summer, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!
What was growing up in your house like? Is your family naturally artistic?
My family is artistic, but not in the entertainment industry. My mom and grandparents are all great painters. That’s cool, but I was never really interested in that sort of thing. I kind of broke the chain of visual artists when I started acting, singing, and dancing.
While being only 21 years old,you have been acting for 10 years, how did you get your start?
Acting is something I’ve always loved doing, even before I knew what it was. As a kid, I was always acting out stories and making up movie titles. When I was 11, I heard about auditions for a live musical. I ended up getting cast in that, and really fell in love with every aspect of performing. I continued doing theatre for a few years. When I was 15, I decided to try film acting. I guess that was always my dream, but I didn’t feel like I was ready to jump into it until then. It was hard to get an agent and all that at first, so I started by doing a lot of background extra work. That worked out really well, because it got me used to being on a film set. Within a year or two, I was able to land an agent and start getting lead roles in short films and small speaking parts in features. In 2018, I got my first leading role in a feature film, playing Renee in The 13th Cross. (That’s coming out soon, folks.) The next year, I landed the role of Victoria Crumb in the movie, The Crumbs, out in California (that’s also coming out soon, folks), and Katie Fredrick in Abigail Haunting (that’s also also coming out soon, folks). Since then, I’ve acted in a few amazing shorts and things. One of my upcoming shorts that really stands out to me is a fantasy drama called Lumeria. For the past several months I’ve been taking a break from acting, which I think has been really good for me. It kind of feels like taking a gap year from college to find yourself. (Not that I would know what that feels like. I’m not very school-y. Hence my use of the term “school-y”.) But anyway, it’s been a wild journey, and I’m excited to get back on set fairly soon. Wow, that answer was way longer than you bargained for. And I’m glad of it. I’m not ashamed of being a long-winded person, guys.
What three things about horror films appeal to you the most?
I love being dramatic. And name one time you can be more dramatic than when you’re starring in a horror movie. Also, I think fear is the most intense emotion, and I like to see what I can do with it. My third reason is that I have fun knowing that I can keep the audience on their seat when I’m performing. I feel like I’ve got them in the palm of my hand. When I began my acting career as a child, I just wanted to act – I didn’t like all the power and attention that came with it. But that power and attention has grown on me as my confidence has grown. I love the power I have over the audience when I’m doing horror. Boo. Just kidding. I guess I’m a little hammy. Which makes sense, because ham is pretty much the only meat that I think is yummy.
What three films have scared you the most and what scared you about them?
I think I’m kind of desensitized to horror films because I’m around the genre so much. I see it from a behind-the-scenes perspective, you know? But I think one of the greatest horror films ever made is The Conjuring. It’s so well-shot and well-acted, and shows that you don’t need a ton of blood and profanity to scare people. Fun fact: I actually auditioned for The Conjuring 2, and had never seen the first one. I watched it before I auditioned for pre-text, and was like, “Oh my gosh!” Totally amazed. Still amazed. Anyway, we aren’t here to promote that movie. (but it had Ocean Master in it! -Editor) Another one of my favorite horror movies is Crimson Peak, because I love period pieces. And that cast is super dang good. I also love The Witch. One of my big wishes is to work with A24. I can’t give you an answer for what scared me about them. I’m just not easily freaked out by the obviously scary stuff. I’m literally more afraid of broken dolls or something. There’s a drawer in the house I grew up in that me and my mom call the “Scary Drawer” that has broken dolls from my childhood in it. I don’t throw them away because randomly I have an urge to scare myself. Is that weird? I don’t care.
Do you have a different approach in your preperations depending on the script? What has been the three best pieces of advice given to you acting wise?
Yes, I do prepare differently based on each particular production. That being said, though, I don’t have any conscious strategy to prepare for a role. If there’s any research I need to do, I do it. I write notes in the script sometimes. I rehearse. Sometimes I feel like I don’t have to try. It just comes. Trying too hard can corrupt that. I sound like a granola, but it’s true. That’s why I don’t take acting classes. I’m not sure if I believe in strategy. As for the second part of your question, here are 3 great pieces of advice given to me (in no particular order). One is from a great friend of mine who told me that it’s not about the dialog, but what happens underneath. I am definitely a dialog person, so I don’t even 100% agree with that, but I still consider it one of the best pieces of advice because it reminds me to pay attention to my facial expressions. Facial expressions can get you cast. Seriously. Another piece of advice is from my mom. It wasn’t meant to be advice for acting, but I use it in my career as much as I do in my personal life. And it is simply to be confident in yourself and don’t care what others think of you. My third piece of advice was from a very established director that I was doing a callback for once. Because of my extensive horror background, I kind of got to the point where I thought every scene needed the intensity that a scary scene does. This movie I had been called back for wasn’t a horror film, but I did the scene with so much intensity and drama. It was literally so dramatic. The director told me to do the scene again, and he had one note for me. “Less.” That one word made me realize that I can save my energy for the scenes that need it. I didn’t book that role, but I auditioned for The 13th Cross like 2 days later, used that advice, and landed my first lead in a feature.
Which do you perfer, film or live theater and why?
I think I’ll always appreciate both…I did start in theatre after all…but I’m going to have to say film. I’m a very subtle actor, and film is the medium that lets me use that talent. Also, I’ve gotten to play much more dramatic and juicy roles in movies than I ever did in plays. And probably most important of all, I just feel like film peeps are more my species of peep.
Which three people inspire you the most and why?
That’s a tough one – so many people inspire me! If we’re talking celebrity-wise, I’d say Kate Winslet. She’s kind of the reason I got into film acting. I always wanted to be like her. You should read my 15-year-old self’s journal entries. I talk about Kate Winslet so much, it’s not even funny. Another one is Emily Blunt because she is so freaking versatile. That’s how I want to be. Oh and Toni Collette. I’m not even going to give you a reason for that other than she’s just super cool and talented and dramatic as heck. If we’re talking someone I personally know, I’d say my friend Dennis. He is just beyond amazing and interesting. And as mysterious as a treasure chest. He has so much love for literally everybody.
What do you like to do for fun when you’re not working?
Ice-skating, making jewelry, walking/hiking, anything involving a tape recorder, photography, and most of all, any type of adventure with my friends or family.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
I love this question! Can I tell you more than 3? Well, I’m gonna.
-1. I’m also a singer and dancer.
-2. I am related to Scottish royalty.
-3. I have a severe mental disorder called Psychasthenia.
-4. I have been onstage with David Copperfield.
-5. I am ambidextrous.
-6. I have never been swimming, and I used to think that was a deep dark secret.
-7. I am related to Elizabeth Montgomery.
-8. My favorite food is cheese.
Okay, I’ll stop boring you. Not that it’s boring, hee hee.
The cheetah and I are flying over to watch your latest film but we are a day early and now you are playing tour guide, what are we doing?
Hmmm…well you really SHOULD visit Salt Lake sometime, it’s a beautiful city. One of my favorite attractions in Utah is an amusement park called Lagoon. I can’t ride all the rides because I get motion sick really easily, but I still love that place. Besides fun rides, they have little shops, and an arcade, and an old-fashioned museum thingy-jingy. Another one of my favorite places near my hometown is the Grand America Hotel. It’s kind of like a mall in there, and it’s the fanciest place I’ve ever seen. I also might take you to a cute little place called Gardner Village.
I like to thank Chelsea for doing such an fun and interesting interview. Of course the cheetah and I looking at each and going “A24????” knowing full well a certain film buff we know will be getting a HUGE kick out of that…..yeah,Danny,we are talking about you! The thing is,I believe Chelsea will indeed work on a A24 film in the near future, she has the drive and the skills to make it happen for herself. Hopefully soon we’ll be reviewing “Angie Bleeds” here on the blog and you’ll see why we are excited to see where Chelsea goes next.
