Something I can't help but notice is that Blue and therefore the player has ALMOST everything of Watcher.

Watcher gives us almost her entire life.

She never gives us Fixer. Whatever happened between Watcher and Fixer happens before we join the story. We know they were close. We can infer that there's a frustration there - there is a LOT unsaid in the train station - but we never learn what it was. We have glimpses of their lives. Fixer's song, the thing under Watcher's bed, but nothing concrete. Watcher doesn't give us that.

And Watcher doesn't give us their reunion, either. We leave Watcher before it happens. We learn that Fixer offered Watcher an eye, and Watcher refused. We know that Fixer seems to resent Watcher heavily, is angry Watcher made decisions and choices that effected everyone without input.

We don't know how it looked, or how it felt. We know that Fixer doesn't say goodbye. We know that Fixer immediately picks up Watcher's legacy and moves forward with it.

But generally? Watcher does not give us Fixer. Fixer is hers. Fixer is what Watcher keeps for herself. That story isn't ours. We're not allowed it. That's okay, I think. Everyone should have something of their own.

Also the Movies are about Jason Todd’s run as Robin, but they are also about Robin. It’s not raining during Jason’s funeral. If it was about Bruce, then it would be. It’s raining the night Dick comes back and finds out Jason is dead. It’s raining when Dick kneels in the mud in front of Jason’s grave.

Robin is a cycle and Jason is the second Robin, when you can finally see everything repeating. Dick, Jason, Tim, Steph, and Damian are all very different people, but Robin? Robin is born in tragedy, becomes a bright light in the gloomy Gotham sky, has a falling out with Batman, and gets replaced by the next child soldier Robin. It is tragic (it’s magic too)

In the second movie, when Jason sees Tim, we hear the muffled arguments between Dick and Bruce that Jason overhears in the first movie. Most of the thoughts Jason has about being replaced we hear voiced by Dick.

Jason’s anger is Dick’s anger and Tim’s thoughts of not living up to the name are Jason’s thoughts of not living up to the name and Damian’s desperation to prove himself is Tim’s desperation to prove himself. Robin is a vicious cycle, but it is also a magical one.

Jason’s laughter, flips, and flourishes as he grapples across the Gotham skyline are Dick’s laughter, flips, and flourishes as he grapples across the Gotham skyline and Tim’s witty comebacks and jabs are Jason’s witty comebacks and jabs and Damian’s efficiency and focus on detective skills are Tim’s efficiency and focus on detective skills. They aren’t always learned from their predecessor, but they always repeat, don’t they?

Robin is a cycle so we must often see Dick in the thoughts of Jason. That’s not to say that Jason’s personality and originality should be diminished, we must also see the Jason that will be in the thoughts of Tim, after all. Just that Robin moves from one to the next and it never fully washes away the one it was before (it’s defined by the one it was before, even)

Also another recurring motif is, when Jason is faced with a choice (and he always chooses the one that leads to his death because the story is already written and we can only watch), we see the numbers 5343 and 5271, 5343 associated with choices leading to his death and 5271 with choices that could hypothetically lead him away from it. Every time he chooses, we must be reminded of the fact that his fate was chosen by us.

The flight number for the plane to Ethiopia is 5343. We hear an announcement for an incoming flight to Gotham, flight 5271.

We watch Jason unlock his locker at school, the combo is 5-27-1. We watch him enter his code on a keypad in the cave, it’s 5343.

His library card has 5271 on it. We see him as Robin hiding behind some pallets in a warehouse, someone laughing in the distance, a serial number reads 5343 in bold.

We see Robin searching through a room of filing cabinets. Batman’s gloves page through a drawer, but don’t find anything of interest, he closes the drawer. It’s labeled 5271. Robin calls him over, he found something in drawer 5343.

Over and over and over again.

There's a post about wanting a story about Jason's time as Robin. I made a reblog of it so long ago, but I can't stop thinking about it.

I want to watch Jason's flight as Robin, but the entire story he's haunted by the future we all know is going to come.

When he first grabs his tire iron, he has the choice of taking a crowbar instead.

Subtle purples or greens pop up when he's in danger (but not necessarily the Joker).

He frees a bird trapped inside a warehouse.

He rescues a kid who was kidnapped by their mom and returns them to their dad.

So many dead or injured birds

While helping Alfred with gardening, he breaks a nail

Gun magazines at many scenes

Motorcyclists wearing red helmets

Someone's bubbling jacuzzi has a green light on

Duffle bags

He helps hold a bandage to someone's neck until paramedics arrive

Jason reads Frankenstein while at the Manor

An ad proclaims their coffins to be the sturdiest

Just his Robin story being jammed packed with foreshadowing.

When visiting the hospital, the nurse introduces herself as Crystal

The buildup of the audience watching Jason, who's unaware of his future, continuously face sign after sign after sign? The irrational hope that maybe someone will notice the universe basically screaming about the future? Nobody notices as more and more signs pop up. It's maddening but so intriguing.

Jason's story of Robin would follow him as he goes from being desperate to survive to thriving. His paranoia that it's too good to be true thrums in his veins, but he learns to ignore it. He's fed, loved, and flies over Gotham every night. There's conflict, sure, but he's figuring out. It's okay.

The signs start out slow and subtle. As he starts to reach towards the end, they get more and more obvious. They occur more often.

Jason doesn't know when it all goes wrong, but he's figured it out before.

We don't see him lose hope until the very end.

so being jewish, i know that antisemitism primary hurts jews. it's us. we live with the most threats from it.

the dyke march hates jews, but so do trad cath men's rights groups. black hebrew israelites hate jews, but so do flat earther, Qanon, and the KKK. so do incels. so do the anti israel leftist. both the far right and far left have vast theories about how jews are involved in world affairs. so do pretty much any color or creed of goyim that has fallen down the rabbit hole into la la land where violence becomes a political solution.

all the big hate group networks use jews as a uniting big tent to find common ground to work together. no joke. brown and black christian nationalist and islamist pro terrorist speakers are routinely used by white supremesists online and at in person conferences.

no one seems to acknowledge that the jew hate is the core principal behind conspiracy narratives globally and that conspiracy narratives are the destabilizing force that lets a person go from "i want to change the world for the better!" into "things can only get better by mass violence!"

and everyone kinda ... ignores it. not even that it's a warning sign but like... that it's pretty critical to convince someone that they need to cause mass death? i just feel so crazy sometimes.

i'm not even just worried for jews, i'm trying to warn goyim that antisemitism is why schools and concerts aren't safe FOR THEM, and it's like... crickets. no idea.
