I love how Mike McLusky & Iris has never kissed or been sexualized. And seeing that people want them to have sex or kiss shows that they are not watching “Mayor of Kingstown” correctly! I love how Jeremy Renner says every man does not have to have sex with every woman he is around. It sets up a bad situation that a man & woman can’t be friends! Putting that in every tv show that a man can’t have females friends unless he is secretly thinking about having sex with her or that every man is plotting to have sex w/ every woman they are near.

It’s responsible of Jeremy Renner to make sure Mike McLusky & Iris never have sex. I love that he is a grown man & sees that them having sex adds nothing to the plot or situation! I hate fans who want them to have sex WHYYYYYY Iris is a whole prostitute Mike would never take advantage of her. Mike still has a whole lot of power over Iris so it would be him taking advantage of her if they have sex! SEVEN BY JUNGKOOK PT1

Disclaimer: this review is from a shipper's perspective and it's objective is to rebut a few misconceptions about 7.

When I first heard the song was gonna be titled seven, I rolled my eyes- like how many times are these boys going to pander to Army with the whole 0T7 agenda right? Here they with yet another song about how much they love eachother like come on! I love BTS, I do but- I mean yall had the tattoos and the cute meet ups, and heart wrenching sappy goodbyes- isn't that enough why yall gotta make yet another song about your bond and friendship WHYYYYYY yall don't have nothing else to talk about? I thought season two was yall on tour grown grown shit- how is this growth if you singing bout the same thing over and over- right? BOY WAS I WRONG ABOUT THAT!

It's a good thing I didn't come out here to rant about that cos that would have been the biggest embarrassment of my life and I would be eating my words right about now while penning several apology letters to Jungkook- anonymously.

Seven thus, to me, is surprisingly good. Not at all what I had thought the song would be about so when I tell yall I was screaming up and down in my living room surprised and amazed clapping and cheering on as if this was the best thing I ever heard- yall wouldn't even understand.

It is why the first thing I love about the song is the title and how creative it is in as much as it doubles as a play on the word and teases out his connection to Bangtan- say whatever you want but I think that was hella genius and creative and reflects Jungkook's personality for someone who has always been creative in this way from his use of color contrasts in his GCFs to tell a story right down to choosing ABCD as his IG handle.

The MV had Jungkook written all over it- playful, goofy fun yet delightfully hot- it's the memes for me.

It was nice to see him be himself in a music video- nothing felt forced and contrived to me nor seemed out of character and that's what gave the song the flair I think it has. Jungkook pulled this off smoothly.

His acting was spot on- I loved the female character in there (in spite of yall saying they didn't gat chemistry) that's just because she's my type so thank you for that Jungkook. Mean cold emotionally unavailable, physically intimidating- yea no, I'm in love with her not gonna lie🤧

And I don't know what it is but she reminds me of Park Jimin too. And I sorta kinda like Jimin soo🥴

Either way, she invokes the same feelings I get when I look at Park Jimin- strong alpha female😌 may be it's because they both give off masc/fem androgyny energy and I like that shit- eat it up nom

She played her role very well and helped sell the story.

I'm actually surprised how good Jungkook's acting turned out in this MV. Whatever they were doing in the restaurant- I'm sold.

And I know alot of people aren't too enthused by the plot of the MV- a young man hopelessly in love with their partner to the point of clinginess and obsession- look, may be if I were looking at this concept from an outside in perspective I would find issues there with that narrative too but as some one who has been following these men almost through out their music career and have had the privilege of consuming content beyond the music they do- I kinda find it hilarious 😂

Hilarious because it's everything fans, and BTS accuse Kook of- it's giving me war flashbacks to the perila leaf conversation they had, to all the times he and Jimin have been caught sneaking into each other's hotel rooms because CLINGY, to Jimin complaining he comes into his room at 1am just to sit on the bed and do nothing, to all the theories about Kook being the clingy one in Jikook- hate to say I told ya😆

It's almost as if he's saying we'll folks yall are not wrong I kinda is clingy and I'm not ashamed🤣🤣🤣🤣

He's a hopeless romantic and he hasn't made that a secret at all. To me, what this is is he's owning the narrative- that is if this was a conscious decision and artistic choice by him.

I had to look up the director of the MV and this is the first time in my life I've genuinely cared about the director behind any project for that matter cos how much of a coincidence is this to cast characters who complement each other so well and craft a narrative which is not a narrative at all!

Their website says they blend "youth and pop culture with high concept storytelling." Well they pulled that off. The plot is simple and easy to follow and reflects pop culture. I wouldn't say this is exactly ground breaking though, because it's been done over and over again- but I think Jungkook rejuvenated the concept by adding his own take and personality to it. It was done well and I must give him high praise for this.

If you are a fan of pop culture and pop music this is consumable as fuck. The song is really catchy. And that's just the thing, there is a market for this genre of music whether you like it or not and he doesn't have to cater to everyone's taste all at once. However to me, this is a step in the right direction for his career especially if he is to position himself as a global artist.

People may know BTS but not everyone knows Jeon Jungkook and this right here is him carving a niche out for himself. He is not trying to ride on the success of BTS. He is not trying to be the solo version of BTS. He is trying to be JEON JUNGKOOK.

His music is gonna play in every teens living room, every adults bedroom, in the club on the streets- he's reaching places even BTS struggled to reach and that's the power of his brand.

He's making waves and he's only just begun. And it's about damn time too!

I don't have much to say about Latto other than give that bae some grammy just for the titties😩 the explicit version of the song makes so much sense why she was so freakylicious up on a BTS song😭😭😭😭

First I was like gurl what? Slurp what??? Then I heard the fucking you right version- I said carry on. My mistake chilee. Jungkook ma n*ga you wild.

It's refreshing to see him step into his power and own his image and his brand and control the narratives- if not capitalize on them.

Overall I think this was a great pop song and Jungkook carried it so well. He's gonna go places. It's high from here and nothing less.

While on the subject, let me address some of the remarks people have been making about the song. To anyone complaining this is yet another pop song- with all due respect, he is not Beethoven he is not an Opera singer he is a freakn pop artist 😩

If yall are tired of pop music just say so and go but don't come for a pop artist doing what a pop artist is supposed to do- and don't let a lie slip out of your mouth it's a great pop song that bops. Seven freakn days a week.

No other kpop artist have come this close to breaking into a western market much less come this close to dominating it. And to some of us, this has always been the dream. I have spent so many sleepless nights meditating and praying for BTS particularly Jikook to gain a strong foothold in the western music market, beyond Korea and Asia and when finally they are making attempts and moves towards that goal yall want to tear him down- fuck yall opps HE IS FREE BITCH.

At this point I really don't care whether people like the song or not because we have moved past that stage where their in their progress in their career was contingent on people liking their shit. How are you gonna like a song if you've never even heard it? Now more than ever, what's important is reaching as many listeners as possible and to that end I think they are all on a right truck.

Jungkook is out to make a name for himself and solidify himself as one of the top pop artist in the world and I don't think his language or country should hold him back- asking him to stick to Korean songs is holding him back from his full potential. Faulting him for for branching out and reaching for the stars is equally holding him back and putting him in a box- well burn that box would you.

I really hope seven is the first of many English pop songs he will make because we want to see more of him, all of him and especially what he can contribute to the genre he dabbles in. His best is yet to come.

And for those complaining seven is nothing new- understand IT IS NEW FOR JUNGKOOK. It is new for many of us who are seeing him do this for the FIRST TIME AS A SOLO ARTIST.

His English keeps improving with each new song, his delivery gets better and better- yall just leave him alone please and thank you.

My final thoughts, as the main vocalist of BTS HE SURELY LIVED UP TO HIS REPUTATION WITH SEVEN. HIS PERFORMANCE WAS AMAZING, COSTUME LOOKED GREAT, SET WAS FANTASTIC AND HIS VOCALS WAS FLAWLESS.

If this is the start we are off to a good start.

The MV to me gave him opportunity to showcase more of his goofy personality, to show people he really doesn't take himself too seriously and has a great sense of humor.

As a performer he nailed his role. Definitely understood the assignment. And it's a good thing they casted a strong female lead cos them damsels in distress be getting on my nerves.

Do we need more of this? Yes AND YESS AND HELL YES!!!!

Between Jimin's Angel and this, you guys have no idea how excited I am for their journey. I want to see more collabs, I want to see them take more risks and build their individual brands.

Jungkook should definitely consider acting. A cameo in a popular American series wouldn't hurt his career.

god I guess this is a question that’s gonna get answered either by more of the anime coming out or me caving and reading the entire manga of dungeon meshi out of impatience but…

why doesn’t thistle/sissel realize that Falin is not (entirely) the red dragon? like it’s entirely ridiculous to assume that she’s the dragon just in a new form. i get that she has the dragon flesh and soul so he’s not entirely wrong, and her coming when he called for the dragon would imply that she is in fact the one he was calling but.

Ok. He calls the dragon because he’s looking at its corpse. Dude that thing is dead it got killed. Why would there be a dragon corpse if the dragon just changed forms?

Also, he himself says the form must be inconvenient, which is why he turns Falin into a chimera. Why the fuck would the dragon randomly decide to change into a new form that’s inconvenient for them?

And like even if he can’t understand all that, can’t he see that he’s hurting her? And like if the dragon already had this order to find Delgal, why would being reminded of it send it crouched down like in pain clutching her head breathing heavily like bro isn’t that at least a little weird for your dragon to behave that way?

And then I guess he doesn’t pay any attention to the party cause they’re just disruptive to him but doesn’t he see that they’re clearly trying to help the person he thinks is just his dragon, calling her by someone’s name and everything?

I guess the party can’t really explain the situation cause they don’t know what’s going on and Falin can’t explain because she is Bearing The Curse but. Ok I’ve seen evidence that Falin and Thistle interact past that first scene. Why doesn’t she try to explain then? Ok I haven’t read it all so maybe she does and this is kind of a dumb rant anyway because my questions probably have answers in the story. But like. From what a friend who has read the manga has said to me, it seems like Falin doesn’t really try to explain and I don’t know why not? Maybe she like physically can’t because in the panels I saw (out of context) there seem to be some communication issues and so maybe Falin just can’t freely talk to Thistle cause of the curse

But ALSO in that same part Falin heals Thistle’s wound and wouldn’t he be like…huh I didn’t know the dragon could do that…why does the dragon know magic now?

And it’s just like. Whyyyyyy don’t they just talk to each other I know it’s cause like they wouldn’t think to do that and also “cause then we wouldn’t have a plot” but it’s so frustrating

And again. Thistle’s reasoning is fucking stupid. You think the dragon for some reason randomly decided to change form. To something that is inconvenient for his work. Left his old form behind as a corpse. And now acts way different and has new skills like magic. And none of that is strange enough to prompt some questions or reevaluation??? Just a “huh that’s weird” every now and then????

Let's meet my favorite kdrama cursed prince - Muhyul as portrayed by Song Il Gook in The Kingdom of the Winds

Or more specifically, this very long-ass post is my attempt to convince people to watch this ridiculously underrated 2008 sageuk.

Why? Is it politics? Complicated families, cursed destinies, battles, or more hurt/comfort than you can want? Nope, none of these. I have my priorities straight and it's official. Muhyul/Yeon is one of my favorite period OTPs.

Take one Cursed Prince (who does not know he is one, and is brought up as a slave), add in one capable Enemy Princess who saves his life, add in ninjas (yes I know ninjas are Japanese but I have no idea what the Korean equivalent term is and I am too lazy to type in secret assassins every time), poisonings, intrigues, and a lot of hurt/comfort and we are set!

Once upon a time, there lived a man named Muhyul. He was only a slave but what he did not know was that he was actually a Prince who was given away by his family at birth because he was cursed to kill his whole family, people he loved, and to top it off, to destroy his country. Despite it all, he was still super-hot.

In the enemy nation of Buyeo, there lived a Princess named Yeon, who was ladylike, kind, a skilled healer....also a deadly ninja.

Point 1: Heal captured slaves from torture. One day they might be the Crown Prince.

Muhyul first sees Yeon after he has been horrendously tortured by Buyeo troops. He opens his eyes to see a heavenly vision quite competently stitching him up, so to speak. It is love at first sight for Muhyul. And who could blame him. He knows that with the director's troubling penchant for h/c, he will need a hottie healer around.

Point 2: "Heal a hottie and he is yours for life"

Muhyul spends some free time drawing her portrait. Without knowing who she is or if he will see her again. If the whole slave/assassin/king thing doesn't work out, he can always make money as an artist.

Point 3: "It's not stalking when he's hot!"

Muhyul is on an undercover mission in the enemy country but he forgets everything when he sees Yeon walking by (btw, he assumes she is just a commoner doctor). I love how he sort of stops thinking of anything else at all.

And then he thinks of her at night...

And lo and behond, their paths cross again when she heals a slave in the house he is staying in.

And he introduces himself to her and she is totally mesmerized. Who can blame her, it's freaking Song Il Gook!

And "rescues" her from evil Byueo soldiers. Only, oooops, they were sent by her family as escort and she is piiiiiiiiissed!

"Why did she slap me, whyyyyyy?"

Still, be happy, boy! Despite it all, she bailed you out of jail for assaulting the Royal Guards :)

Awwww, Muhyul doesn't want to leave...

Point 4: You know what makes anything better? Torture and homicidal angst

Did I mention the part where Yeon's Dad runs an Evil Assassin camp where they experiment on slaves with poisons and torture them? You see where this is going? If you do, then you have the mindset of both the writer of this drama and myself.

Muhyul gets captured by them (after losing the only person he ever regarded as family, but that would drag us into plot and this post is about the shippy):

And tortured for a solid year. If he ever marries Yeon, that might make for an awkward family Thanksgiving. "So, how are you, son?" "Well, I almost regained the use of my arms!"

Anyway, Yeon is visiting Daddy and sees some slave being taken out, after they have tried poisons on him. It's Muhyul, so it's Yeon to the rescue! Man, no wonder he loves her - it's self-preservation on his part!

And then Muhyul is drafted by evil assassins (long plotty reason) with the only alternative more torture. The training is psychotic and gets Muhyul near-broken utterly but as a side benefit, makes him even more hot. If now mildly psychotic. As you can probably figure out by the end of the drama he's so hot he's a supernova

Also, as I posted earlier, gorgeous armored men on their knees looking up at their OTP who is teaching them foreign language (because Yeon is an Evil Assassin trainer for daddy) and thinking of the fact that they are a slave and she is a Princess (which is something he found out only in the ninja camp) is pretty high on the list of my favorite things.

Plus, Yeon takes him out for fresh air and exercise that doesn't involve being hung upside down and being ordered to off oneself. Score! She even makes him smile.

More gay = good for me, i love gay people, these are my people, my nation. Even the fuckin' Zukka. I love 'em. I think everyone should be gay.

But miraxus?

Heterosexuals.

And i know a lot of people ship also Mirajane x Erza, and i think it's wonderful, like, they are wives, c'mon, they are... But 2x.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who can separate canon-canon, fanon-canon, and fanon-fanon. Please. I need to know I'm not alone in this fucking fandom thinking this way. I really need it. I swear.

Canon-canon: we don't know their (miraxus) sexuality, so they can be whatever they want, they don't show any romantic interest in anyone in the PLOT of the anime/manga, in the action, not covers, etc.

Fanon-canon: Mirajane and Laxus are at least bisexuals and are prolly gonna end up together, Mashima said so, i think so, that's understandable and logical for me, i (personally) like it, cuz their personalities suit each other, that's why i wholeheartedly ship miraxus.

Fanon-fanon: they are all gay. All of them. All on them. Not a single person in that fucking guild is even a slightest bit hetero. No one. Literally zero heterosexuality per person. Sooo i just finished reading the kamokedai match and i need to express the thousand emotions going through my head rn (rant)

First of all WHAT THE HECC FURUDATE WHY U GOTTA DO US LIKE THAT

they rlly made it so that hinata got sick at the worst possible time huh

like i get it, its to build even more tension but they didnt have to do that i mean cmon my heart was beating stupidly fast while reading that. Takeda even made a whole like five page speech to hinata which is what made us readers all go "oh ye we're losing this match arent we"

And they even made tsukki have to go on the bench cause of his leg becuase why not rub more salt into the wound amiright?

Anyways after the out of pocket plot twist where hinata goes to the hospital it not much of a suprise that kamokedai won but it still hurt ToT.

Yes, i actually thought they had a chance of winning ok? i get that kamokedai is much better than karasuno but still. they couldve won ;(

and then out of nowhere ITACHIYAMA LOST??!!! like what the actual flic flac??!! bro is hitting us with 50 different plot twists at once. First hinata get a fever, then tsukki also goes outta action, then they lose the match, then itachiyama also loses the match WHYYYYYY

i was not mentally prepared for this and was so looking forward to seeing sakusa and the libero whos name i forgot play against fukurodani in the finals but NOPE I GUESS WE AINT GETTING THAT TODAY

Ok, some Winchesters theories coming up! So, we remember that the trailer for The Winchesters has a literal video of Cas' shadow in it. And in the latest Winchesters' episode we see this image from a previous episode of Supernatural. SO this could be a couple things... (1) The CW has limited resources and money and is lazy so they reuse videos and images (2) we are meant to find them and they mean something for the end of the show. I choose to believe the 2nd since I have put my clown shoes back on. So, running theory is; time travel is obviously happening again, angels are involved (hence the Cas video and literal Gabriel in the latest Winchesters episode). BUT WHYYYYYY Like, we know that Dean is telling us the story of his parents meeting. We can assume that this is him telling us post finale given the car having OG plates and the samulet hanging. Dean is not wearing his finale or heaven outfit though (good discourse on that here). So, we can assume this means something as well; he wears this outfit in 15x8 and 15x9 (The Trap - episodes that have Dean and Cas working through the some couply shit and traveling to Purgatory - so other planes). Ok, so back to S1E8 of The Winchesters, we know that Dean gave John the letter that effectively changed history/the story. So, Dean had to have traveled back in time to do this, likely by help of angels, post finale.

But, again, WHY What is Dean (and the angels - but likely just Cas) trying to change? What's the motive? If we make the assumptions that this is happening post finale (with our other assumptions made above) and we believe Jensen when he says it will stay within cannon, we can assume that this is not, technically, a prequal, but a continuation of the original. But, to play Lucifer's advocate with myself, how does that storyline get a second season? Potential theories:

It turns out that something is wrong in heaven or Jack and Cas cant keep the heaven light on and if heaven goes out the world does so they have to go back in time to fix shit?

Or, baddies from other worlds (akrida) are causing havoc in the world when they have not (did not in SPN timeline/cannon) so now (post finale timeline) they have to go back and fix it by Dean giving John the letter. And Sam is not involved because he is not in heaven yet and can go back to help out?

-- OR -- If we go with the evidence and the lazy version of typical time travel (and CW) story telling, we will assume that Dean, in heaven (or not) , is telling us the true story of how his parents met which was this exact story that is happening in The Winchesters. Like, Dean has traveled back in time before. That photo that Mary and John look at in S1E8 is from SPN S6E9. Maybe, Dean traveled back in time around that time to maybe stop the whole SPN timeline from happening to try to save more people, and they got their minds wiped given the Akrida are other wordly crazy monsters etc etc. Thats why the story of John and Mary meeting in The Winchesters is so similar but a little different than the SPN timeline. Maybe thats why there is differing, kind of, stories of thier meeting. And, you could plot right over that by saying, to make the appocolypse happen they wiped the minds, and made them fall in love (like SPN cannon).

But this does not explain the Cas barn scene in the trailer or why Dean is wearing a different outfit in the narration scene in S1E1. But, Lucifers Advocate, this can be explained away by them using the Cas scene to bait us and Jensen just liking that outfit lol. BUT Daneel is #1 heller and the twitter accounts like all the destiel stuff so, at least, they know that is marketable, SOOOOOO it has to happen, it just has to! ------ If you have made it this far, congratulations, you have officially fit into the clown car with me. I will live here, with my clown shoes on, and believe Cas is coming back to us, that him and Dean are having fun, gay, adventures in heaven

35) Favourite subject

Mildly embarrassing because I don't have very much in depth knowledge on any one subject but I have surface level knowledge of many. So my favourite subject would be maybe Pokemon or well done high fantasy. Or really just any engaging story with characters that feel organic. Bonus points for a well thought out magic system, more points if the story actually has a message, and even more points if the writing is smart, funny and well thought out. Needless to say I consider Terry Pratchett to be the absolute peak of literature.

Ooh this is a tough one. Hmmm.

The exact moment when you defeat Giratina in Pokemon Legends Arceus and you think the battle is over and then the flatline plays and the music changes into its Pokemon Platinum theme and it turns into its Origin Form and you're just there staring at the screen and physically yelling with excitement.

Apart from that I had some pretty good times back when I lived in hostel, staying up overnight playing smash bros with my two then best friends. I miss those guys and those times.

Pash is such a useless nepo baby, I love her, I even feel like there is some family resemblance between her and Gideon but why is she there? What is she for? Like, what is her purpose? Even that family resemblance kind of means nothing because tazmuir have put so much weight on the fact that Gideon and John are very similar people with similar sense of humor? Like when John said "hi not dead i'm dad" I had a whole moment, where I was like THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING! I had to put the book away for a bit it was so masterfully done.

Pash doesn't have enough self-awareness to have any meaningful connection with Gideon, she'd have to accept that Wake was abusive in general and towards Pash herself in particular. Which Wake was. I think Pash would rather die than gain that self-awareness. So why is she there? To be pathetic? Like.. whyyyyyy. She can be edited out completely so easily.

Pash is useless in so many ways. She is just bad at things. Gideon on the other hand is a kind of person who worked very hard studied the blade to hone her skills, and still basically got very little recognition (especially since Harrow got a lobotomy to forget about her). Like maybe it's for this contrast? Gideon is sooo professional actually, she is a great cavalier. She fucking,,,, networked while continuing to keep the vow of silence. She IS the first flower of her house. But to be honest even if Gideon grew up as Prince Kiriona Gaia she'd be an incredibly professional person, I just can't imagine Gideon not giving 100% to whatever she does.

But yeah. Right now I don't want Pash to be in the same room with Gideon AND I don't see why she even exists. She brings nothing to the plot. I think maybe Muir just got carried away?

I love Pash! She's THE WORST at her job, she's absolutely only there because of her aunt, but listen: she's fun.

Anyway. She and Gideon would NOT get along. Pash is a nepo baby. Kiriona Gaia, first of the Tower Princes, Heir to the House of the First, is also arguably a necro baby but she worked her ass off all her life! And then she died! She wouldn't vibe with Pash. And I think Pash absolutely wouldn't want to deal with the fact that she shares some genetic material with John Gaius's daughter. Like... she would think Gideon has zombie cooties. BoE knew of Wake's secret mission but I very much doubt they knew the specifics. I DO want them in the same room together but they should fight.

Also! I think Pash exists for a very good reason, actually. "Lipochrome … recessive." Gideon has John's eyes; his original eyes. Alecto altered John's DNA. But if the eyes are a recessive trait, that means Wake carried the gene too. I'm once again thinking about this post & this post, and if there's something unusual about Wake, Pash is how we'll find out.

I don't know why but today I just woke up with another wave of love and appreciation for mv!Mapleshade warrior cats. I just auughhhhh I love her even if she isn't that intentionally well-written at all I relate to her so much you wouldn't believe that kitty is special to me, at the very least the mv!Mapleshade version of her.

It's the way she's just so out of touch and detached from reality from the moment she's introduced in mv (and maybe even for the remainder of the novella) and living in this fantasy of her and her family being Untouchable and Special, putting her utmost faith in the warrior code/the law and StarClan/God, especially believing that StarClan approves and gave her kits their blessing, and has this narrative/plot-relevant "magical thinking" about everything that happens around/to her. When Frecklewish just asks if the father of her kits is Birchface(he isn't), she thinks it is a explicit sign for her that StarClan themselves is "offering her a way for her kits to be accepted by her clanmates", everything is some sort of "sign" for her. She wholeheartedly believes that nothing bad will ever happen to her very illegal children, that everyone will just accept and love them because they're just so perfect, and that by just being born they will literally change everyone's minds about inter-Clan relationships and achieve world peace -- That they will grow up both loyal to ThunderClan and RiverClan equally, that "the truth about who their father really was would be unable to shake the loyalty of their woodland clanmates, [...] and once RiverClan gets to know them, those cats will feel the same", that "the feud over sunningrocks will be forgotten when the clans realize they share these perfect warriors". And like is this a cause of concern that this is really similiar to whatever I'm going through pretty often too like you and me both Maple. Not related but I think it's also very cool how sometimes when people talk to her or ask her something she just. Doesn't respond. And I think that everybody in the fandom just making it up to be "haha look at this delusional bitch not knowing theres consequences to her actions lol" should be punted into the sun like how is this a testament of her being an irredeemably evil terrible person to you and not like something actually very sympathetic why are you like this with every female character. And I need to ask why. Whyyyyyy did they write her to towards the end of the book start hallucinating her dead babies encouraging her to become a serial killer throughout. You literally didn't have to bring psychosis into this she already had perfectly valid reasons to start murdering people!! Why!! You didn't make her more "scary" by this or whatever, instead now it just makes me feel bad for her even more that she went to cat hell forever for the actions she did when she was not only super mega ultra traumatized and in a state of shock after The Events (which none of those was her fault btw), but also that she literally going through some kind of episode the entire time too. What do you think about the moment Dabi burned Toga’s home down? This isn’t a way to disagree with you btw, I just see surprisingly little people talking about it

When that chapter dropped, there wasn't too little people talking about it, plenty were, especially in the space I was in, because a widespread take on that scene was that Touya was like embracing the LOV as his fucking family or something

I saw lots of takes I both agreed and disagreed with. When the chapter came out I was already experiencing my hardcore rejection of the LOV found family bullshit so my reading wasn't so sappy of it, but I did read it as a moment of compassion for Touya out of everything else we've seen from him. And even now, when I'm pretty comfortable embracing Touya for the dramatic, generally uncaring person that he is in canon, I still feel that it was meant to come across as a soft moment for him. Too many things surrounding it still support that, but what I don't vibe with is:

"Touya is Toga's big brother!"--no

2. "Touya thinks of Toga as family!"--no where did people even get this take

And then a different type of take that I still feel is stupid:

3. "Touya was MAniPUlaTInG TOGA INTO STAYING A VILLAIN"--also no, what

Reasons the first two takes, to me, are dumb and are completely rejected by canon:

That moment was it, THAT WAS IT. THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE. I took the L on Toga going after Hawks for revenge, I got that part wrong, but I was NOT wrong when I said Toga and Touya are not about to form some dynamic duo and create this revenge plot together to solidify their friendship with the LOV. THAT did not happen. And at this point it's not going to.

Touya burning her house means a number of things now that we have more context on Touya's past, because at the time we didn't.

Touya and Toga and Tomura share similarities in their family lives, but what Toga and Touya have in common is that, unlike Tomura, their families are alive. So they both are left with this untouched grief of losing them, even though they're not gone. And this hits even harder when 9 chapters later we get the chapter where Touya WENT BACK HOME. Just like Toga. Looking at the moment in context, I think Touya was just hardcore relating to Toga, because why wouldn't he? He did the same. fucking. thing. she did. To some extent, he does know how she's feeling more than anyone else probably can.

However, that's where it stops. He relates, and then he burns the house down that holds nothing but painful memories for her. But he doesn't do this to his own house, and we know he could have because he burned that orphanage down, so it's SUCH a mystery why he didn't burn his own house down when he had the perfect opportunity. I wonder WHYYYYYY. Seriously though, I read him burning her house as him hardcore projecting, AND his way of telling her to leave it all behind like he did, because there's no going back, and there's no point in holding onto the past (funny coming from someone whose so tied to his past it's slowly cooking him alive). Toga says she views this as a kind gesture, and I think for Touya, it was kind. But the thing is that Touya and Toga are very different. Toga at that time was still holding onto some semblance of hope. We know this because she went after Izuku as soon as the war started. She isn't suicidal like Touya, she isn't sacrificial like Twice, she doesn't feel that she has NO reason to live like Spinner, and she doesn't want to actually get rid of everything like Tomura. She is nothing like the League, and MAN we are seeing all of that happening in real time now! Touya telling Toga to smile, imo, isn't as sweet and sappy as everyone thinks it is. Because Touya himself doesn't even believe in what he's saying. Touya talks about tomorrow, laughing, smiling. But meanwhile, he's trying to kill himself. So people reading this as this beautiful gesture of hopefulness to Toga (who at the time, still had way more hope in her than any of the LOV), I feel are ignoring Touya's character. He is the last person you should be taking "hopeful" advice from, as he himself doesn't believe in it, and he isn't sitting there hoping to see Toga smile by giving her Twice's blood. That's not what Toga is doing with it right now. Currently in canon she's having an emotional break down because of Twice's blood. So maybe don't look at that moment as this sweet optimistic message from Touya to Toga. But maybe that's just me.

Other things unrelated to just Toga and Touya about that chapter: THAT WAS NOT A HAPPY CHAPTER. Switch over to Spinner and Tomura and what do you see!! BADD bad things happening. AND THEY WERE BAD. We saw the fall out from it on Spinner, we saw what Tomura whose "sake" he was doing all of this for. Just, that was not a happy chapter, it was a melancholy chapter with a lot of hints of despair. The chapter cover is a picture emulating grief, spider lilies, Toga painted like Twice. And it directly contrasts with chapter 342 where it's much more light hearted and all three kids talk about their feelings toward their villains. It's not a happy chapter and it's not supposed to be. And further context with all the chapters that have come out since this support this.

Now, the last take:

3. Touya probably could manipulate people around him if he ever so wanted to, but honestly I don't see his character giving even that much of a shit to do that. He's got his mind focused on one thing and that's it. Why is he manipulating Toga to stay? He's not lol. My own guess is that if Toga did run off, he wouldn't give a shit. In fact, she DID run off in the PLF war and, well, he didn't give a shit. I don't think much has changed. Idk why I'm even entertaining this take because this was just another attempt at both hero standom and the radical villain standom who hate Touya (because he ruins their found family uwu) to make him out worse than he is. So I find this take incredibly dumb. Toga is the most free willing member of the LOV at this point, SHE ALWAYS HAS BEEN. She doesn't need Touya's magical AFO powers to make her stay.

I'm being very harsh on Touya, but he's still my #2 fav, and he's still very special to me and I still have the same ending in mind I've had since 2020 when I started the manga. The thing about Touya is that he really is this uncaring person, because the entire point is that he's detached himself. But what's funny is that he's been separated from his family members the entire story and he's been able to remain detached. As soon as Endeavor and Shouto are in front of him he's no longer keeping his cool (hehe). His fight with Shouto, the way his flames were going absolutely nuts reflecting his emotions reflecting on his past, TELLING SHOUTO HIS PAST CHOICES, and then of course the way the fight came to a halt with the panel of Touya and Shouto crying--those walls are starting to break. But it's happening in the most Touya-way it possibly can. The family he lost and is now trying to destroy with his entire being is what's getting through to him now, even Shouto! Who he doesn't know, and who he's certainly not done with.

So yeah, Touya rant about chapter 341--the night that chapter dropped was kind of annoying because of these 3 takes floating around but we've gotten so much more context on Touya since then that I can safely say this is how I view the scene. It was a relatable moment for Touya seeing Toga go back home, why wouldn't it be, and that's it.

I ADORE Beastars to death, the worldbuilding and incorporation of animal behaviors and ethics is perfect and Legoshi is genuinely one of my favorite fictional characters of all time fun fact: Legoshi's birthday is actually the same as mine xdd but it makes it all the more painful that it ended the way it did

I can't find the source rn but I distinctly remember reading somewhere that Paru was forced to add the shonen elements by Weekly Shonen Champion to make it "more marketable", and that she was so dissatisfied by having to add these elements that she ended the manga's run early. It clearly shows in how rushed and lazily explained the Melon arc stuff was, and it makes me even sadder because Paru is so passionate about her characters and universe and you can just FEEL that she hated having to add all that stuff in. it's just, man.

I one hundred percent agree with you on your opinions of Melon. I ADORE his concept and his backstory (reads like something out of Criminal Minds which I also adore hehe), but he is WOEFULLY misused as a character. They should have leaned in WAY more into him being a carnivore/herbivore hybrid, fleshing out his conflicting instincts and really hammering in how much of a parallel he is to Legoshi... which is what I feel like Paru WAS going to do before WSC started breathing down her neck. The concept of hybrids should have been focused on more in general tbh - I know Paru could have done something truly fascinating with their worldbuilding, but she couldn't due to all the shonen stuff. I felt you so strongly about the daycare in particular - I was SO EXCITED when I first saw it and then it was never seen again????? I don't even think a single student from there was NAMED????? PARU WHYYYYYY???

moving on, you already said a bunch of good points about what makes the ending weak as hell, and I agree with all of it, but honestly, the thing that pisses me off the most about it was how fucking dirty Louis was done. His break up with Juno and him WILLINGLY getting into an arranged marriage with Azuki was bad enough - it was just wildly out of character. But what REALLY makes me furious is how Oguma drops dead off screen and suddenly Louis forgives him for everything he's done?????? WHAT THE FLYING FUCK????????? AGAIN THAT'S WILDLY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR LOUIS BUT IT'S EVEN WORSE BECAUSE OGUMA IS A FUCKING SHITHEAD. SHOULD HAVE FUCKING PISSED ON HIS GRAVE LOUIS.

...oh lord I've rambled for a while now 😅 but yeah Beastars is a series I adore, and I'll still recommend it to people without hesitation, but with the same caveats you presented. I will say, though, that I genuinely think there is a good chance that Studio Orange creates an entirely different ending for the anime (I genuinely think the only way they can wrap everything that's left up in one season is if they make MASSIVE changes to the plot) and it gives me a tiny bit of hope. So to anyone reading this, if you want to experience Beastars in the best way possible, WATCH THE ANIME. It's already such a good experience in general. Even if the ending sucks, DO IT FOR THE ANIMATION. AND DO IT FOR LEGOSHI.

I've been having a bit of a blast sharing thoughts about the series with people, love hearing other's sentiments (specifically about that ending, glad we can all agree it was trash lol). Louis. Man. I was so angry about how Haru had been shoved off into a corner for most of the second half that I could barely process what was going on with Louis. The series was so good at calling out bullshit in the first half, Oguma getting redemption via death was so out of left field and not built up at all. Him getting with his fiancee too....SO disappointing. That I think was a bad call on Itagaki's part, Louis getting with Juno would've been immensely more satisfying than whatever the arranged marriage shit was. Throwing rocks!! boo!!

Oh, tough choice! Both definitely have benefits – there's something so satisfying about writing something short and just finishing it, like – here's a complete story, all done, entirely wrapped up, my hands are washed. But obviously there are types of plots you can only do in longer fic, and there is also pleasure in building up an arc, in dropping in foreshadowing (I LOVE FORESHADOWING), in being able to have twists or unexpected developments. So, idk! Probably short if I have to choose, but I love both.

🍊 Who’s a character you don’t write for that often, but keep meaning to write for more? (They’re so interesting! But maybe you have trouble pinning them down, or keep getting distracted by another blorbo…)

Basically everyone in OFMD other than Ed, who has entirely consumed my thoughts. Even Stede, honestly, I'm mostly just interested in as he relates to Ed, rather than Stede in and of himself. I should pay Stede more attention, poor man.

I think I'd find Jim really fun to write. Again, you know, if I managed to draw my attention away.

In the specific terms of "meaning to write more", structurally I really really need to come up with a b-plot for Izzy in lay me down. But I haven't thought of anything yet, so I just keep idly poking at the idea and going 'I should do something with him....'

Hmm, so many to choose from! :D

Oh, one thing that I'd been thinking about recently – I want more sex that is anything other than anal sex. I mean, anal sex is great! I also sometimes write anal sex! But I get annoyed when fic treats it as the be-all and end-all of sex. I've especially been irritated by it lately in fic that's empathizing how desperate and eager and now-now-now the characters are for sex... and then they go for the method that requires them to stop, go find supplies, and do a bunch of preparation? Whyyyyyy. Let them do something more spontaneous!

So, yeah, handjobs, blowjobs, frottage, intercrural, etc, all those options are some of my favorite tropes.
