no bc despite all the flaws with the writing of the female characters in bnha, horikoshi kind of ate with not making froppy an "uwu frog so smol" character and instead making her asshole adjacent to bakugo -- idk their dynamic makes me giggle
I wouldn't really call Tsuyu a asshole she's more just blunt which I guess can come off as asswholeish at times

Deku arrived, with calvary, the same one that supported Stars and Stripes. I don't know... Will Deku use the same approach as she did? Weren't we shown that it does not work neither for save nor for win? They need to have a heart to heart, except Shigaraki is in no place to really hear Deku or understand him. A person that had some meaningful parallels with Shigi and could've been set up to reach him is romping through spirit world with All Might, probably talking about Deku. I just don't know.
Now that the next chapter’s out from this ask, and leaks for the one beyond, I’ll say I’m damned if I can see how Deku’s Beat The Absolute Piss Out Of Shigaraki play is any different from the approach people have been using on him since all the way back at USJ, much less as recently as Star & Stripe.  Like, I know that Fighting To Understand Each Other is a time-honored method of emotional catharsis and relationship advancement for a Shounen Jump comic, but I feel like the hero needs to be taking some more damage for that kind of thing to work, you know?  It shows they’re dedicated to understanding their opponent, even if it’s going to take some hurt.
But this?  It’s just beating on Shigaraki from a place of comfortably higher power, while Shigaraki is, just like he was during the war, constrained from acting with the full level of force available to him.  And I feel like I’ve seen that kind of thing before, where the heroes have a, “We can’t let the villain attain/unleash his full power, or we’re all doomed,” line, but the thing with that kind of set-up is that of course the villain eventually will!  It’s not as dramatically satisfying if you put that Chekov’s gun on the mantle and then never fire it!  But that’s where HeroAca is right now—where it's always been, and why the hero/villain dynamic is so damned strange for the way it confuses who the real underdogs are in this story.
Agreed that Deku needs to be able to actually talk to Shigaraki, but it's difficult to say what a dialogue would actually accomplish.  Deku's connection with Shigaraki is unearned, and none of the people who have actually earned a connection with Shigaraki—principally the League and Bakugou (Bakugou more than Deku, anyway)—are actually on-hand to weigh in and give Deku some perspective.  Instead, we have this foreordained connection because of AFOFA, and even that's not being done in a very interesting way, because Deku has not had a chance to have a sustained dialogue with Shigaraki in—to the exact digit of the most recent release—300 chapters.
Further, while their origin stories have a lot of ironic similarities, there's basically zero common ground between the people they are now—not least because Deku's experience with fighting the power inside him hasn't been a real issue since Joint Training, and even then, the sentience of OFA was never opposed to him the way VFO is inimical to Shigaraki's free will.
I don't know.  I still have some small hopes that Spinner will spring Kurogiri and press the shuffle button on this conflict, but as it is, I just am not buying some turn where Deku will spend however many chapters relentlessly destroying Shigaraki only for him to turn around and offer him a hand at the end, and we'll all be expected to cheer and be really emotionally affected by how incredibly generous and noble and forgiving Deku is.
I didn't buy it with Nagant and Overhaul, and like hell will I buy it here. Thanks for the ask!

“being a hero means protecting everyone.”
hey guys, so can we talk just a little bit more about the absolutely outstanding character growth shown by Bakugou Katsuki in this one scene, though?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because this is sure as heck not the same boy from a year ago, not by a long shot. this scene proves that Bakugou has finally found what it was that he lacked, and with that, he’s taken one monumental leap forward.
so this isn’t going to be a super-long post or anything, but let’s break it down play by play.
so since we’re working with the fan scanlation here, meaning the translations aren’t quite exact, what I’m going to do is number the dialogue bubbles, and then provide my own understanding of what is actually being said in each one. I’m basing this on a combination of 1) the scans, 2) the rough translations of the Japanese raw leaks posted in this reddit thread, and 3) my own understanding and interpretation of the characters. so not an exact science, but hopefully we can muddle our way through!
but before we get to that part, let’s backtrack here and start with Deku.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so it’s simple enough to follow what’s happening here. Deku overhears “one for all” on Endeavor’s comm, followed by the warning that Shigaraki “I can fly now, I guess” Tomura is heading towards the civilians and the shelter. and he realizes in this one hefty moment that Tomura is after him. and that by staying with the rest of the group, he’s putting everyone in danger. and so he makes the decision to break away and try to lead Tomura off somewhere else. there is no actual plan beyond that yet, as far as I can see. he just knows that he has no other choice.
but now here’s where it gets interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. so I could be wrong, but based on the context of the situation, I think it’s a reasonable guess to make that when Katsuki says “these people”, he’s actually referring to the villains. as in, “listen up, it seems the villains are looking for you.”
2. so now, get rid of the “because” in this next line. and 1+2 now becomes, “so it seems like the villains are after you. being a hero means protecting everyone...”
3. “...that’s what you’ve always said from the beginning, right?”
and continuing on to the next page...
Tumblr media
4. “him heading this way right after mentioning One for All... there’s no way to know for sure [that it means he’s targeting you], but...”
5. “you pretty much have no other choice but to move.” (in other words, “I know you can’t risk it.”)
so there you go. now we’ll have to wait for Viz tomorrow to really know for sure, but regardless of the exact wording, in short what Katsuki is demonstrating here is that he just had the exact same thought process as Deku. the villains are after One for All -> the villains are targeting Deku -> if Deku stays here with the civilians, he’ll lead Shigaraki right to them -> as heroes, our job is to protect everyone -> we need to leave the area right now.
think about all that for a sec. there is not a single thought in that entire sequence that is focused on himself at all. this is the same kid who used to be all “me, me, me” at the start of all this. but here, we witness him come to the exact same conclusion as Deku, at the same speed as Deku. and what that means is that he too instantly made that same connection from ‘Shigaraki is coming here’ to ‘we have to protect the people.’ instinctively.
and what that in turn means is that Katsuki has truly and beyond any shadow of a doubt finally learned how to see outside of himself. he’s finally learned how to put other people first. that his job as a hero isn’t to just kick ass all day; it’s to protect other people. he’s gone from someone who only ever thought about winning and being strong, to someone whose first thought upon hearing “the bad guy is heading your way” is not, “hell yeah, time to throw down,” but instead, “we need to lead him away to keep these people safe.”
...oh yes, and there’s one more thing as well.
Tumblr media
because you see, not everything Katsuki says is always in actual words. he’s someone who has always communicated his most important thoughts and feelings through his actions just as much, if not more so.
so what his words are communicating right now is, “I get it, that bastard Shigaraki is targeting you, you gotta move to protect everyone.” but even as he says this, he adds on a much more important, yet unspoken thought.
because what he does is to immediately go to his side.
without so much as a word of acknowledgement. he’s always had difficulty saying this kind of stuff out loud, I guess. but in this one instance it’s all right, though, because he doesn’t have to. I’m pretty sure Deku understands him just fine.
because what he’s saying here is, “...but I won’t let you do it alone.”
and that pretty much says it all, really.
tl;dr for possibly the very first time, Bakugou Katsuki is entering a fight, and he’s not fighting for himself. he’s fighting to protect the people of Jakku... and he’s also fighting to protect the very person who taught him what it means to fight for others. to win to save.
so Shigaraki is after Deku, huh? well then. time to make damn well sure that Shigaraki doesn’t get what he wants.
anyways, so that’s it! I’M PROUD OF YOU KACCHAN. and you too Deku. I’M PROUD OF EVERYONE, HOORAY... now please don’t die.

BNHA Chapter 317 Spoiler Analysis: Everything Hurts and I’m Dying
The BNHA Chapter 317 leaks are out, I can’t wait until Sunday this time, and I’m fuckity sad as hell 😭.  We have more Deku angst and more Dad Might angst.  Also pro hero angst.  But, there’s Shoto Todoroki crumbs!  I’m happy about that.  Maybe the POV will change to the students soon.  At least I hope.  I want an update on them:
We do get a cover page for this chapter and it looks amazing!  Like really, Horikoshi-sensei is snapping hard with the art in these recent chapters.  Deku just looks amazing.  The detail in the pen lines in on this page is incredible.  I can’t imagine the amount of work and patience that went into making this. It reminds me of the hard work Berserk’s mangaka, Kentaro Miura, went into drawing his manga.  I wonder if this is a homage of some sorts.  Kinda to honor Miura’s passing in a way.
But yeah, Deku looks so good, but he’s so, so tired.  His eyes are practically black, his costume is more torn than before, his metal mask is crumbling from the damage it’s taken, and there are obvious bags under his eyes.  That bright-eyed Izuku Midoriya we knew in the past is almost entirely gone.  Deku’s seen shit and he is exhausted from all of it.  I truly want this kid to get some sleep and take a shower in something other than the rain.  I honestly don’t know how much longer his mentality’s going to last at this point.  I’d say 1-2 more chapters maybe.
The Pro Heroes and Deku managed to survive the blast from the last chapter thank god.  Unfortunately, they’re back to square 1 on AFO and Shigaraki’s whereabouts.  Edgeshot suggest taking to Lady Nagant to get some more info, but she’s still unconscious in the hospital.  He also suggest that OFA should be finally be known to the public in order to gain more allies and support Deku.  This pretty much confirms that Edgeshot, Mt. Lady, and Kamui Woods know about OFA at this point.  I wonder if other heroes like Mirko and Aizawa know now too.  Actually, given that Deku told all of his classmates, Aizawa most likely knows now too.
And thing is, yeah, telling more people about OFA will probably give Deku more allies, but it will also put massive targets on their backs too.  More villains will go after Deku as well.  This Quirk was kept a secret for a reason after all.  It would be a big risk if they choose to release the info on OFA.
A flashback comes in showing that Death Arms (the big bulky Pro Hero who Jiro did her first internship with) has given up.  The booing managed to overweigh the cheers of heroism.  It’s a small scene, but Death Arms was actually one of the first Pro Heroes we ever saw in the series.  He helped protect the citizens back when the giant villain was attacking the city.  It’s honestly sad to see one of the first heroes in the series give up after everything the world has come to.
Back to the present, more Pro Heroes are giving up every day and some are even leaking info to the media.  Which means that people are getting close to finding out about the truth of OFA.  That also means people will start blaming Deku more.  The last thing Deku needs is to be blamed for something he didn’t do.  That would make things so much worse for him.
Mt. Lady (who has a vertical scar on top of her left eye now) brings up a good point here: AFO could leak out the truth about OFA at any point, but he hasn’t.  He has to have a reason behind that.  Maybe he thinks that would be too easy.  Maybe AFO wants to play with his chess pieces more before killing them off.  Maybe he just wants to see all his enemies suffer first.
Also, can I just point out how cool it is to see Mt. Lady act as a real Pro Hero?  At the beginning of the series, it was clear she was only in it for fame and glory.  If she was the same as before, she would’ve retired by now.  But instead, she’s actively helping Deku out as his ally and keeping him safe.  You love to see that character development.
AND NOW WE HAVE SHOTO CRUMBS 💙😭!!!!  No new panels except for the flashback back in Central Hospital, but he did leave a missed call for Endeavor and a message asking him to call him back.  Given Shoto’s relationship with Endeavor right now, things are probably still slowly improving with them.  And what Shoto found must be incredibly important given that he wants to talk to Endeavor immediately.  Is it about Dabi?  Is it about Deku???  Maybe both????  I mean, Shoto has to know that Endeavor is working with Deku, right?  I think?  CAN HE BRING DEKU HOME MAYBE???  IDK, I’M JUST HAPPY TO HEAR MY ICY-HOT BOY AGAIN IN THE MANGA I WILL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET, HORIKOSHI 💙🤍❤️😭
In the meantime, Hawks gets a call from All Might and Deku managed to easily defeat a hired villain.  And good god Deku looks so badass and haunting here.  That villain is slumped and Deku’s holding him with one big strand of Blackwhip with ONE FINGER.  Deku took that villain out effortlessly.  He really has gotten stronger with OFA.  I’d be scared of this kid if I faced him.
After the villain is captured, Deku is ready to leave immediately after.  But, Dad Might is so worried about his green son 😭!  All Might tries to reason with Deku and tries to give him a bento box, but Deku refuses and says that All Might doesn’t need to follow him anymore because he can take care of himself now like All Might did in his prime and he doesn’t want All Might to get hurt.  THE PANELS THAT GO WITH THIS SCENE MAKES ME CRY SO MUCH!!!  ALL MIGHT TRIES TO REACH FOR DEKU’S HAND BEFORE HE LEAVES, BUT HE CAN’T SO HE TRIPS ON THE GROUND AND THE BENTO BOX FALLS ON THE GRASS AND ALL MIGHT HAS FLASHBACKS TO WANTING TO PROTECT DEKU AND HE’S SO WORRIED OH MY GOD I CAN’T DO THIS HORIKOSHI WHY *SCREAMS INTO THE VOID*😭😭😭
All Might thinks on how he should’ve told Deku to get some rest instead of letting Deku go.  God, All Might is honestly the best Dad for Deku next to Aizawa.  Screw you, Hisashi, you can stay overseas wherever the hell you are.  There’s also a panel of Stain who listened in on Deku and All Might’s conversation.  I don’t think Stain will kill All Might since Stain considered All Might to be one of the true heroes out there (he might encounter Deku though if we’re going by how Deku encountered Muscular and Overhaul).  But, I am worried that All Might will die somehow before Deku can come back to see him.  Which would absolutely kill me.  Imagine if Deku comes back to All Might on his deathbed and that’s the last conversation they will ever have until Deku sees All Might in the vestige world.  God, I would cry for weeks if that happened.
So, over the weeks, Deku has kind of become an urban legend all over Japan apparently.  They would see him as someone who appears silently and has multiple Quirks.  They say his body is full of wounds, blood, and mud (Deku need a real shower bad, someone get Wash).  It’s interesting how Deku’s become this kind of myth that’s been going on in Japan.  Like, he’s this mythical being that no one really knows about but is like their dark guardian angel protecting them from harm.  Very much like a vigilante.
The final panel shows Deku looking like a monster/demon with OFA going and Blackwhip coming out of his arms all Venom like and his clothes are in even more tatters (his other Mid-Gauntlet on his right arm is broken now too).  The last dialogue bubble has a citizen say that “I heard he doesn’t look like a hero at all”  This last page is so, SO well done!  Horikoshi has been giving us nothing but straight 🔥 since this arc began.  Deku looks nothing like that wide-eyed hero-in-training we knew before the war arc.  That glimmer in his eyes is all but gone.  I can’t believe that sweet broccoli boy has descended into this dark vigilante who’s mental state is on the brink of breaking.  He’s still as badass as ever though.  Like, Deku really looks like a villain here, but we know he’s not.  Horikoshi really likes Venom as much as he loves Spider-Man I think.  This is like Venom mixed with Batman/Arkham.  It’s like the series went from happy Marvel to dark DC in the best way possible.  It’s honestly great.  But, I’m so worried about Deku and All Might.  I want the kids (specifically Bakugo or Shoto) and Aizawa to fetch them and bring them home.  Even if it resorts to fighting to drag Deku back.  Deku can’t keep isolating himself like this forever; he needs all the help he can get.  His friends can more than handle their own.  Again, I’ll give him 1-2 chapters until Deku breaks entirely.
Me sobbing from pain and angst throughout the entire chapter:

*HiSS* Chapter 4 [ PART 1 ]
_________________________________________
"I'm not moving my pink ass 𝘰𝘯𝘦 inch."
Mina is currently sitting (if you could call it that) on the couch in the common room, complaining about being too lazy and worn out to do anything more than 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨.
It's Sunday afternoon, the day after the Birthday party and half of the class is currently either laying on the couches or sitting lazily, including you. The other half was either training or doing their own thing.
The conversation you all are having (and trying to convince Mina to join you all) is about going out for some drinks. No alcohol obviously, most of the squad is still hangover from last night. But it's still the weekend and no one wanted to spend their last day of the weekend in the dorms.
"Then you and your 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘴𝘴 will stay in the dorms alone because the rest of us agreed on going." , states Kyoka with an eye roll from your right. You let out a hum in agreement, trying to sound as if you're following the dialogue. Because you actually aren't, you are too busy letting the memories of yesterday pass in your mind over and over again.
It was pure luck that Deku and Todoroki realized your absence at the party last night and decided to look for you. Apparently they were already on a search tour while you were- ... 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘺 with Katsuki inside of the elevator. It didn't took long for them to realize that you were probably stuck in it because there were already lots of people in front of the elevator, complaining to a staff member.
So all in all you only had to endure being alone with Katsuki for a little while. It may sound not much, but it felt like a lifetime for you. Katsuki didn't try to talk to you, either out of consideration of your situation or because there was not much to talk about. You don't know, but you were grateful regardless. Because you didn't know if you could've been able to handle to talk with him after what had happened!
And yes, the picture of the both of you looking like a mess, coming out of the elevator 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 would've been a shock to anyone in your class.
And it was, Deku's mouth fell open and he looked concerned right after. Todoroki's expression didn't change much, only from raising his eyebrows slightly you perceived that it had surprised even him.
You had stomped out and passed the both of them without saying anything. Yes, something you shouldn't have done, because that made our dear broccoli boy even more concerned and he had run after you.
But Deku was a smart boy, he knew exactly when to talk and when not to. So he just walked with you back to the party without asking a single question. That made you realize again how much you appreciated him.
And so, the night had continued, no one asked questions because most of them were too wasted to even realize your condition. And mostly because you gave your best at not showing it.
And now here you are, sitting in the common room with half of the class (Bakugou excluded, fortunately).
But apparently the conversation had ended because they all stood up and left the room.
"Wanna talk?"
You lift your head up and see Deku standing in front of you, he is looking down on you with his lips pressed into a thin line.
You knew it would come to this, so you let out a frustrated sigh and stand up.
"Yes, but let's take a walk outside."
Deku nods and and let's you lead the way. You guys walk for a while without saying a word, Deku was obviously waiting for you to say something. But how are you supposed to tell him that you had a freaking kissing session with the person you disliked the most in a freaking elevator?!
You can't just say: 'Yea hey, Katsuki said he likes me, then he kissed me and i kissed him back, in the elevator, all alone. And we kinda got off of it and started touching each other like freaking animals in heat. And i must say, i 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 liked it! '
No, you can't just blurt out something like this.
So instead, you take a deep breath and say:
"Bakugou told me that he likes me, then he kissed me, i kissed him back and i hate myself for not hating it."
....
Well done, (Y/N).
Deku halts in his track and looks at you slack jawed with his big green eyes. And the muttering begins:
"H-huh?! Kacchan?! Kacchan said he 'likes' you?! He kissed you?! But that makes no sense...? You guys are always fighting...But Kacchan actually...'likes' you? I didn't know! I didn't see! How...? And 'you' kissed him back... What does that mean...? But....?! So you guys are-"
"Deku, stop!", you interrupt him with a laugh and put your hands on his shoulder to shake him a little, trying to make him come back to 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 world. You couldn't resist laughing. His muttering looked always so funny to you. It was just 'so'... Deku.
"I didn't understand 𝘰𝘯𝘦 word Deku, as always. And yes, we kissed and he said he likes me. ", you summarise and let go of him. You put your hands on your face and let out an exhausted groan.
Broccoli boy's expression changes from shocked to worried and immediately he puts a hand on your shoulder, trying to comfort you.
"Hey... You okay?"
Damn. He is worried. And you don't like making people worry on your account. You are always the strong one. You barely get into moods like these.
Seeing you like this must be really worrisome.
You slowly let your hands slide down your face and give him a genuine smile.
Deku is just amazing. The perfect hero. You know you can count on him no matter what happens. You guys have been getting closer over the years and he was one of your best friends. So it's obvious why he is the first one you come to entrust your 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 with.
You tell him everything while continuing your walk.
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 happened, 𝘩𝘰𝘸 it happened, how you 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭.
That you are angry. Angry at Katsuki and angry at yourself. That figuring out your emotions and Katsuki's action tires you out. That you start seeing Katsuki different now and that it scares you. That being scared of something 'that' stupid pisses you off. That you want to punch Katsuki in the face.
Hard.
And after telling him all of this, Deku says the words you were afraid of hearing but knew it would be coming.
"You have to talk to him. Confront him."
You groan dramatically and come to a stop. Deku continues walking a few steps and then turns around, looking you intensely into the eyes.
"I know... But... How? It's hard for me to be in his presence these days. And i 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦 the way he makes me feel. .... I think."
Suddenly you look him dead serious into the eyes.
"Shit. I know my second weakness now. It's physical contact."
Deku bursts out laughing at your serious expression.
"And what is your first weakness?", he asks, still laughing.
You give him a look of fake disappointment.
"'𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘥 of course?!"
Deku bursts out laughing again, this time louder. You can't hold back and join him.
Ahh...this feels good.
After the laughter dies down, Deku comes closer and graps onto your shoulders, regarding you with a serious face.
"Back to the main topic. (Y/N), this is serious. You can't allow Kacchan to say and do whatever he wants. You have to confront him. You need to know what his intensions are with you."
You groan dramatically yet again and give him an anguished expression.
"Besides, the (Y/N) 𝘐 know wouldn't run away from a problem like this. She is strong willed and determined."
You look him into the eyes and see how much the green haired boy means it. He really believes in you. And again, you are so glad that you have someone like Deku on your side.
You snicker and hit him softly on the chest. Deku takes a step back and gives you a genuine big smile.
"You are amazing, you know that?" You hit him again and both of you start giggling while Deku refuses to acknowledge your compliment.
After talking to your best friend you feel like something heavy has been lift off of your body and you can breathe better again.
Deku is right, you deserve the truth. You can't allow Katsuki to play with you like this. You need to figure out his true intentions.
While walking back to the dorms, Deku keeps on trying to make you feel better, telling you stuff that had happened yesterday at the party.
Right when you are about to grab the doorknob, the door opens from the inside and Katsuki is standing right in front of you.
You look up to him and immediately feel small again.
He is 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦. You never really realized how tall he had become... And so muscular...And so.... (Damn it) handsome.
Swallowing hard you remember what Deku told you.
Broccoli boy is still standing behind you, so you can't see his face. You don't have the strength to turn around to decipher his expression because Katsuki has your 'full' attention.
His piercing garnet red eyes are looking straight into your own.
Blinking a few times to destroy this invisible force that has you locked in a paralyzed state, you take another step towards him and hold your head high.
"We need to tal-"
Your sentence ends with a loud shriek of suprise when Katsuki grabs onto your wrist and forcefully drags you inside of the building, making you walk (run!) behind him.
"K-kacchan?!"
Deku's voice makes everyone in the common room look up from their seats. And you can only detect a few blurred worried faces in your  vision because Katsuki is walking so fast!
Wait, was Kirishima just smirking?!
Katsuki is dragging you so fast behind him, you have to be careful not to miss steps when he leads you up the stairs.
Finally finding the strength to say and do something you grab onto the hand that is currently holding on your wrist.
"What do you think you are doing, Bakugou?! Let go of me!"
Katsuki isn't even listening to you, leading you straight to the area in which the boys have their rooms.
Realizing that, you panic. Why is he dragging you there?!
"H-hey! ", shouting out you still try to free yourself, but to no avail. You can't even see what kind of a face he is making because he is walking in front of you.
Why is no one following you guys?! Is no one concerned of your well being?!
Remembering Kirishima's smirk you suddenly realize he is in this too.
Internally you take a note to beat the shit out of 'both' of them as soon as this is over.
Katsuki comes to a halt so fast that you bump right into his backside.
𝘖𝘶𝘤𝘩.
Hearing him opening a door, your panicked state gets worse.
When the door opens he drags you inside and (finally!) let's go of your wrist and closes the door behind him.
So, here you are, inside of a room with Katsuki Bakugou. You are alone with him, 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.
Wait, this is his room, right? It must be. What the-
But instead of letting the panic control your body, you try to calm yourself and you give him a vicious look.
"Explain yourself.", you demand and take another step back. The more space between you two, the better.
Katsuki leans against the door and crosses his arms on his chest. His eyes represent calmness, disinterest even. But his mouth gives him away. He has them pressed into a thin line, obviously struggling with something.
"'God, you are a pain in the ass."
......
𝘏𝘶𝘩.
He takes his arms from his chest and runs one hand through his hair. This way he looks a little.... troubled.
But you won't let your guard down. Hell no.
"Why did you drag me here, Bakugou. You know i'm not allowed to be here! "
At that he quickly raises his head and gives you a furious look which makes you instantly take another step back.
𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘬, (𝘠/𝘕)!
"Do you know how fucking hard it is to find you alone? You are always with those nerds whenever i try looking for you. It's a pain in the ass."
Oh, so he wanted to be alone with you...
Still, this doesn't mean he has the right to 𝘢𝘣𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵 you like this!
"But...why can't you just approach me like a normal human being and ask me to have a talk?"
He grunts in annoyance and avoids looking into your eyes.
You almost burst out laughing.
𝘊𝘶𝘵𝘦....
𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘪𝘵, (𝘠/𝘕)!
Seeing the twitching of your lips Katsuki puts on his usual pissed off expression and takes a step towards you.
"Whatever. I have you now. And we need to fucking talk."
He's is standing not two meters away from you now, looking down on you, which makes you feel so small and vulnerable again.
You want to continue on feeling threatened, really. But the atmosphere has changed and you just can't stop thinking about the "I have you now" part...
You don't know why it makes you feel some certain way...
So you just stand there, looking up at him like an idiot, 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.
𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋é𝘫à 𝘷𝘶.
Katsuki raises a brow at your silent behavior, obviously had not been expecting you to act this way right after he 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘥 you into his room.
You clear your throat and raise your head, trying to look at ease.
"You are right, we do." You are glad your voice doesn't waver. Having gathered enough strength to finally confront him, you ask him the most important question.
"Why do you like me?"
You don't know what you expect him to say, but you definitely weren't prepared for this;
The moment the question comes out of your mouth, he stands still. He doesn't move an inch, he is only looking into your eyes. As if the answer to your question lays behind those beautiful piercing red eyes.
He looks so vulnerable that it makes your breath hitch in your throat. You've never seen this side of him, and you doubt anyone ever came to see it.
Until now.
Your body moving on it's own, you take a step forward, which makes Katsuki blink in surprise and retreat a step.
You stand still, you don't know what you were about to do. But his expression had made you want to get closer to him...
"Fuck!"
.... Okay.
You are about to open your mouth to ask what's wrong but Katsuki is faster.
"I'm not good at fucking expressing myself. I just- fuck. It just fucking happened. I...fuck!"
... Alright, those are lot of 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘴.
To be honest you kind of expected him to deny it. That he would tell you that he was just fucking with you, that it's to piss you off. But seeing him like this; all flustered and trying to find the right words to express himself you realize he really means it...
But... Why so suddenly? How come he treated you like trash  three weeks ago and now he is telling you that he likes you?
You don't really know what to say, so your mouth blurts out the first thing that comes into your mind.
"You do realize it's hard for me to believe that, right?"
His expression changes from vulnerable to angry and he comes closer again, standing right in front of you now. Your vision is fixated on his chest and his scent immediately gives you flashbacks of last night.
The way he had tasted... The way his body felt...

Whoopsie King Rhoam’s a dick but I gotta flesh him out so
Tumblr media
Read Part 1 here!
Part 2
If you’re on mobile, and tumblr hates this post, follow along on this google doc!
Rules/overview this rewrite in the beginning of Part 1
‘sup ya beautiful bastards it’s time to gush about the process of storytelling and writing as we fix up the fix it fic so let’s just jump into it
- - - - - - - - - -
A quick recap of Part 2, and I swear this recap is faster than the recap last time: Chapter 3 of Age of Calamity opens with a more substantial scene the beginning points of Revali’s character, and contrasting the old position that Link and eggbot have, so that their later changes in this chapter (well, at least for Link in this chapter) are more pronounced. We edited a bit of the dialogue to make Revali’s intentions make a bit more sense, while also putting some little foreshadowing points with some camera tricks for the Hollow Champions. The Hollow Champions can now speak, which means their potential for being used to bring out the flaws or bitter aspects of each character is more readily available further into the story. And of course, we’ve introduced the main antagonist of Astor, and coupling his presence and dynamic with Zelda’s insecurities. While his intentions of needing Zelda for something is clear, his motivations and backstory remain a mystery as of yet, the only true clue we have so far being some sort of connection to eggbot.
I didn’t get any big asks or comments about Part 2 so I’m going to assume that it was mostly well received (although I will note that I promise I’m going to flesh out Revali to be more than he has been presented as of yet, this is just the very very start of this development don’t you worry your feather loving butts) that being said, you should totally critique me or give me your opinions or comments. I’d love to hear them! Although, keep in mind that I am restraining my rewrite to the guidelines already said, so don’t get mad at me for not killing off all the Champions or something. Thaaat’s a rewrite for another time. So yeah if you reblog you get a little kiss from me because believe it or not I spent a lot of time trying to rewrite an entire storyline while keeping it’s tone and integrity intact. So thanks much <3
Okie dokie then chaps! Let us finally delve into Urbosa lesbian vibes, a zest of Zelink angst, rants about pacing, and a couple tablespoons of Astor backstory, all starting in the latest stage of Chapter 3: The Road Home, Besieged
So right of the bat, big problem here. This Chapter follows directly after the events of Korok Forest, so you assume that maybe “The Road Home” refers to the team, going home, back to the castle, to tell King Rhoam what’s up. But...that’s apparently not the case.
Tumblr media
So this entire stage, firstly, it brushes over any scenes where Zelda, Link or the other Champions might talk to King Rhoam about the Master Sword, or the Deku Tree, or...hmm what else happened last stage that might be interesting to see—oh yEAH HOW ABOUT that mysterious magic guy that tried to kill Zelda and was going off about the future and stuff?? That guy that wielded a bunch of dark magic and malice looking stuff and, uh yeah, you’d think it might be important and interesting to see the King’s take on was is essentially a wanted traitor to the crown who may or may not be leading the entire movement for the Calamity’s uprising. But nope, no one asks questions, no one says anything or has interesting conversations that reveal stuff about the plot. It's just….just all about Zelda and ooooOOooo she can’t awaken her powers oh no what’s a gal to do!
And I do mean that quite literally, this entire stage is all centered around two scenes with Zelda. The first, an admittedly narratively important scene of Zelda having a quick flashback about eggbot after he sings her a song, but it lasts for five seconds. And the second, being a pep talk with Urbosa as Link eats rocks in the background. For the majority of this stage, it’s all focused on Zelda, and pacing wise, it does virtually nothing to progress the narrative/plot forward.
And on paper, there’s nothing wrong with that! Hell, people read entire fanfictions dedicated to character development and relationships that have absolutely no external plot. Having a scene dedicated to just character development is completely fine, it’s something that’s pretty common and even encouraged to an extent. The problem arises when you remember that this is a story being told through the medium of a video game.
Now, I am going to try and  breeze by this because, similar to Age of Calamity, I have to also construct this post with pacing that keeps my audience engaged, while progressing with my core narrative and story. But I highly encourage you to watch through this video by hello future me (On Writing: How to Master Pacing) because a lot of what I know about this I’ve picked up from his videos, and if you’re a writer or just someone who thinks storytelling is cool, it’s a great guide to the art of pacing.
youtube
Anyhow. There are two levels of pacing within a story. There is the small type of pacing, like for the structure of a singular scene. And there is the pacing of the overall core narrative, how the larger beats of the entire story is revealed. Good pacing for your core narrative is about whether the reader feels like they are getting closer to the big thing, the big climax or answer or promise of satisfaction. The smaller type of pacing, for your singular scenes, focuses on that timing between how close you get to achieving new information, this refers to  your slow and fast pacing, tension versus rapid action.
So, overall the rule of thumb is: the amount of time you invest into your smaller scenes, even put together, that must correlate with a big enough payoff in the core narrative. That’s what good pacing is. (And that’s why people make stuff like the Three Act Structure to help visualize this pacing process but obviously other forms of pacing guidelines exist like the Five and Seven Act Structures but that’s too complicated for this Nintendo Game anyhow that’s just some educational flavour for ya to impress your highschool English Teacher I guess)
So knowing that, the question now is: Does The Road Home, Besieged contribute good pacing to the story? This is going to be my excuse for changing up other later scenes in the game, so when I mention pacing and narrative again, remember this. The time spent playing for thirty minutes, minimum, in the game, to only be paid off by two lines of character development isn’t good pacing. So the answer is “no.”
Delving as long an amount of time as thirty minutes, means that pretty much everytime a stage is complete, you must introduce new substantial progress to your story. A game like this just doesn’t have time to waste it’s valuable cutscenes on character development alone. There’s an even further wrench in the issue when you consider you also need to account for sidequests, so you could really be forcing your player to go through hours of gametime before you introduce new details in the story.
Obviously it’s not always gonna be cut and dry like that—sometimes you have to account for how enjoyable the gameplay is, and sometimes the amount of character development offsets any lack of narrative development—but for the majority of stages I’m gonna change, they all suffer this pacing problem. In a game that's entire story hinges on these cutscenes, bad pacing is just something it doesn’t have time for.
Anyhow anyhow anyhow, I got to get my dose of serotonin by talking about pacing writing structure and stuff and blah blah, so now I shall grace you with the changes that address these problems that would theoretically lead to vast improvement. I gave you this reasoning and backstory to writing because I am making hella changes, to hopefully make the experience more “poggers,” which is something the cool kids say these days if you didn’t know.
Firstly, timeline wise this stage is gonna take place directly after the Korok Forest battle. The gang is returning home from the battle, with Link, the new wielder of the Master Sword, along with this new information regarding a certain Astor character.
We open the same way it does in game, focusing on Zelda’s face, before the frame is suddenly blocked by the pommel of the Master Sword. A wordless way to express how the sudden revelation of Link being the hero has forced its way into Zelda’s mind, great use of camera Koei Tecmo 10 outta 10
Tumblr media
Now I don’t want to immediately jump into Zelda’s “oh poor me I can’t awaken my powers” dialogue because—and this is something even Breath of the Wild is guilty of—This game seems to forget that there are other characters besides Zelda. It’s marketed towards kids, sure, but I assure you that kids playing this game have a longer attention span than 2 minutes. You don’t need to keep reminding the audience every single scene about how Zelda is anxious about her powers. It gets redundant, you waste the audience’s time, and therefore you waste your own time, because you could have been using that precious screen time to develop some other thing further.  So anyhow, goes a bit like this.
Zelda’s walking, the Master Sword comes into frame. Zelda looks down at the ground but keeps walking, but you can tell from her expression that she’s troubled. Don’t need to waste time on dialogue for her here, show don’t tell, we need to make the most of the scene here. Camera is still on Zelda, but the focus blurs shifts from Zelda to the Champions behind her. We can start with Mipha, I don’t have my heart set heavily on any specific dialogue, but I want her to say something along the lines of “how proud she is of Link” and what an honor it will be to fight by the side of not just her dear friend, but also someone selected by the goddess to be the hero. Subtextually, I want her to say this in a tone that suggests that she doubts the need for her to be here at all. She’ll say something like “He’s grown so…” glances up at Link who's just walking ahead, “...so much stronger than I could ever imagine. [Something Something] His power has grown so much over the course of a few days, more than I have achieved in a lifetime.” She looks down, but she still has a sweet smile.
Now I’m doing this because I want to develop further this plot line of “getting stronger” that Age of Calamity sets up but never does anything with. Remember how in Chapter 2, Mipha asks Daruk to train with her to get stronger? I really like the possibilities of this arc with Mipha as it can not only parallel with her feelings for Link, but also make her character better as an individual. Mipha wants to get stronger so that she can protect Link, but now she thinks that Link’s already growing stronger to an extent that she might not be needed. She’s not jealous of Link, nor does she wish him to be weaker, she simply wants to be more than she already is. This is literally echoing her words that she left her father, about how leaving the Domain and experiencing new challenges would be “good for her.” So I wanna run with it. The dialogue here establishes Mipha’s motivation to grow stronger, almost equivalent to a rivalry of sorts.
So after Mipha says this, Revali scoffs and butts in. Again, I’m not too set on any particular dialogue here, just something like “Hmph! Well, I don’t know about that. Seems to me all that’s happened is some magic sword gave the knight an ego boost. Blade’s only as strong as the little Hylian who wields it, and—based on my own extended experience and professional observations of course—I’ve yet to see this ‘stronger’ boy that you speak of.” Another camera pan to Link a ways in front of them. “If you ask me, hero or no, that knight is still exactly the same as I first met him.”
Revali places a wing on his chest dramatically. “Perhaps if you’re truly keen on seeing growth in skill and strength, Mipha, you’d do well to—”
“Flattering of an offer as that may be, Revali,” Urbosa interjects, “But I think Mipha might find it difficult to observe growth from one of the shortest Rito in Hyrule.”
Cue laughter from others or snickering or something. We just need some banter to add a bit more flavour to the characters. Revali can do a little huff and cross his wings or flip his scarf or something. But then Urbosa continues.
“Although...he is right about one thing.” Urbosa looks straight ahead. “A sword does not alter a hand, just as strength does not alter character.” She puts a hand on Mipha’s shoulder. “Grow as he might, there is no doubt in my mind that he is the same boy as he’s always been.” Urbosa looks up in the direction of Zelda. “Whether you realize it or not.”
Ok so, scene’s not done yet, BUT quick gush on the dialogue flow here. I’m trying to establish parallels in these character perspectives based on the flow of conversation. We started with Mipha who, like I said, wished to grow stronger along with Link. This flows into Revali who also has a similar parallel as he wishes to grow above Link’s shadow. But the distinction between Mipha and Revali is that Mipha think’s Link’s strength is earned, and Revali thinks he cheated, gaining authority through a magic sword, and not through merit and skill. Thus, leading to Revali’s perspective of Link being exactly the same as he’s always been, he believes the sword doesn’t change anything. Urbosa then speaks, because she thinks exactly the same thing. However, her distinction is that Link is the same as he’s always been: a determined young boy earned his place and cares for his friends. Then she looks to Zelda who, as we know, will develop a perspective that contradicts this. So you get it? This scene is like 20 seconds long but it already mirrors nearly all the character parallels and perspective, that’s why the flow of dialogue is important. And I know half of you probably think these kinds of details are a stretch but I promise you it’s not, just look at any movie or show ever and I guarantee you can find similar stuff there too. Ok moving on moving on—
Urbosa looks up at Zelda, comments her, “He’s the same boy, whether you realize it or not” piece of dialogue. Camera shifts back to Zelda and Link, who, idk if I mentioned this, but in the scene there’s enough distance between the Champions and Zelda and Link that the Champions can speak without the other two listening. So they didn’t hear any of this.
Tumblr media
So the camera is back on Zelda, and now we can get her “How can I…..If I am unable to awaken my inner power….” line. Eggbot senses her sadness, does his little cheer up dance, Zelda gets a flashback.
One small change I wanna make to this flashback: Instead of just a baby Zelda going “nighty-night” I want there to ALSO be a figure in the background behind eggbot wearing a silk royal blue dress. And said woman has blonde hair and she’s by the table back there. We don’t have to show her face or anything because Nintendo hates that. Just place the woman somewhere in the back somewhere
Tumblr media
Also possibly you could add the shadow of another figure by the doorway, maybe? It would serve good continuity purposes for the plot points that I’m telling, but that part is not as necessary. I just need at least the woman there.
Then Zelda is like “I remember you” to eggbot and all that and blah blah… Now, instead of Impa offscreen just yelling “enemy ahead!” I just want it to be a full on ambush. Not like a major one, but just enough where the group is surprised a bit. Maybe on the cliffs above, a lizalfo throws a boomerang, or a bokoblin shoots and arrow, or even just throws a rock. I don’t really care. I just need this to happen because…
As soon as this danger is presented, Link turns around to grab Zelda’s hand and they start running again. And he can like use his body to try and shield her a bit, I need it to parallel how he acted during Chapter 1 on the road to the Royal Tech Lab. However, this parallel has one important distinction because…
Zelda rips he grip from Link’s after a moment. “You don’t need to coddle me!” She says, or something along those lines. “Y-You...You’re the hero aren’t you! I’m perfectly fine, you don’t need to spend your precious time playing babysitter to me.” In the distance, a horde of monsters is beginning to form. Zelda looks between the monsters and Link’s Master Sword, her expression unreadable. “Well? Just...just go do what you need to do.” Link hesitates, looking between her, and the approaching monsters. Zelda speaks more sternly now, “Go!” So Link, not one to disregard an order from the Princess, gives one last look to Zelda before setting off towards the monsters. Maybe Zelda can take a deep breath to steady herself after he leaves, but as soon as Link unsheathes his sword, the metal glistening in the setting sunlight, it cuts immediately to gameplay. Start battle.
For essays’ purposes this is the part where I explain why this is better than the original. So here’s my reasoning:
Uhhh, it just is. :3
Ok but seriously, I’ve already talked a tone about why the pacing and dialogue flow is better than the original. But also this scene doesn’t just say “Ooo Zelda is sad about her powers,” because that’s not interesting. Like I said, it’s redundant information. What is interesting is see how characters deal with that internal conflict and how it affects their relationships. AKA Zelda’s relationship with Link, who now basically embodies the success that she’s been working so hard towards but never achieved, is deteriorating a bit. I wanted to get that sense of the Zelda that we see in Breath of the Wild because all things considered, they should be roughly the same character.
So that’s that, you fight the battle, the Hollows show up a bit, so insert “dark evil Champion” dialogue because if you’re gonna use the evil clone trope might as well use it to the fullest. Then you fight the Talus and hurray horrah the day is saved.
Then we have that iconic Urbosa motherly pep talk to Zelda as Link eats rocks in the background. Now honestly, I’m not that big a fan of the first half of the dialogue, so I wanna change it into something more interesting. But the rest of the beats and camera work go roughly the same.
Zelda: “Link is...so much stronger now”
Urbosa: “‘And yet I have not.’ I presume that’s what you’re thinking, hmm?”
Zelda: “Well it’s true, isn’t it? More and more, monsters have been appearing around Hyrule. It is a sign that the Calamity draws near. So...there isn’t much time. And still, no sign of my power awakening.”
Urbosa: *sighs* “Little bird…”
Zelda cuts her off, in an attempt to change topics: “Why do you call me that?”
Urbosa: “Hmm?”
Zelda: “Little bird...I feel like I’ve heard it before. Why do you call me that?”
Urbosa, after a beat looks off in the distance or something: “A long time ago, my dear friend would call me to the palace, or perhaps invite herself over to mine, [she chuckles] ...and she would talk with me all day, and ask me to gaze upon her little bird with her. Her dearest daughter...a princess”
Zelda: “You mean my…”
Urbosa just smiles with a soft nod: “Back then, times were a bit different. The destiny that you have was still upon the Queen, who worked day and night to refine her powers and fulfill her destiny. In just a few short years, I went from being friends with a Queen, to friends with the destined sealer of the Calamity.”
Another pause, before Urbosa speaks again: “But...she was still the same woman I had grown with. Still the same loving mother who spoke about her little bird with joy. She had not changed one bit.”
Urbosa: “Even when your mother passed, her loving smile was there until the very end. She always loved you—believed in you, Zelda. She had great hope, great faith that her daughter would grow into the beacon of light Hyrule needed. That even with her gone, you would spread your wings and fly, because you were just that amazing to her.” *Urbosa puts her hands on Zelda’s shoulders.*
Urbosa: “Destiny did not change your mother’s love, just as it does not change Link’s courage, or your value.” *the camera can pan to Link eating rocks now*
Urbosa looks directly at Zelda now: “Look how hard we’ve all worked to get this far, how hard you have worked to get here. While we may grow in strength, in that regard, we’re all one in the same.”
Zelda: “...I….well…”
Urbosa: “What did the Great Deku Tree say? There is no need to fret princess.”
Urbosa: “Our faith, Link’s, your mother’s, it’s all as strong as ever. And everyday, with every moment that you travel towards your destiny, it just grows. It is always with us. So believe in that, have hope, yet, little bird.” *Eggbot can scurry up and make cute noises here next to Zelda*
Urbosa: “I know, you are where you need to be. You must accept that too.”
Zelda: “...”
Zelda gives a solemn nod: “Thank you, Urbosa.”
Tumblr media
So that’s that scene! Don’t let the length fool you, it’s technically even shorter than the original scene in Age of Calamity. So why is it, in my opinion, better? Because for one, we actually get an insight into Zelda’s mom and Urbosa’s relationship, something that was PROMISED To us but never given and I’m still a bit salty about it. Anyhow, in addition to just getting some lore details, that relationship between the Queen and Urbosa is important for this scene because, just like Urbosa spells out, it’s in direct parallel with Link and Zelda.
Before the Queen suddenly got sick and died, she was destined to seal the Calamity. But she didn’t let that destiny change her, she was still the same loving mother to the end. Now that is something that Zelda needs to realize about Link, as his newly acquired destiny doesn’t change who he was before, the knight who cares for her and wishes to protect her. Zelda needs to realize he’s the same and that she can still trust and confide in him. Hence, that’s why this mom backstory is in this scene and not somewhere else, because it serves to the narrative but also more impactfully to the character development.
The dialogue could probably be polished a bit more but come on, not half bad for an improvement yeah? So that concludes Chapter—
SIKE we’re not done yet. We still have to move into the entire point of this stage, the road home, to the castle.
So, badabing badaboom, I’m adding an entirely new scene from scratch right here at the end, because it is VITAL that I set up something new about the story, as a sort of clincher. So anyhow
Zelda is alone with her father, let’s set it in the royal library (Intact, not ruined, of course) because we don’t see enough of that location and it’s really cool. So Zelda is briefing her dad about the events in Korok Forest and on the journey back home. I know I always gush about cinematography but it can’t be fully appreciated since I’m….writing,,, this, BUT I think it might be fun if the side shots of Zelda have her background be some bookcases of the library, maybe half bookcases and the other half the ornate walls. Then the background for the King’s shots is the full symmetry of the elegant staircases.
Tumblr media
[And if you needed the specific reasoning for that, because it makes camera shots more fun. Like when Zelda says something that aids in her scholarly side, the camera angle can change slightly where the bookcases take up more of the frame, and then when the King’s will takes more power, then the book cases can be angled a bit more out of frame. And then the symmetry of the King by the staircase is a way to show his higher power dynamic to her, and contrasts well with Zelda’s shots since the bookcases are dark and the stone is lighter, so on a meta level is also makes it easier for the audience to understand where they are. Shot composition is fun ok, and that’s not even getting into color theory (Thinks about Baby Driver and LaLaLand....even videogames like Undertale and Hollow Knight have such wonderful shot composition and use of color theory hhhhh love it)]
Ok so Zelda’s briefing the King in the library, she’s standing while he’s sitting at a desk. There’s maybe two or four Royal Guards on the staircase entrances, but for the most part, they’re alone. You can tell that this meeting between them has been going on for a bit now, as from Zelda’s dialogue, she’s retelling events midway through the story.
The King is flipping through some paperwork, not really looking Zelda in the eyes. She continues speaking.
“And so...with the malice cleared and the monsters being dealt with, Link and I made our way into the heart of Korok Forest.”
The King hums a response, flipping through another page. “And this is when Link pulled out the Sword that Seals the Darkness then, I presume.”
Zelda paused, as of thinking of how to phrase her next words. “Not exactly. I...we both encountered someone beforehand. A man, with a pale face, and dark hair and robes, and he had the power to control malice, using a strange object in one of his hands.”
Rhoam stops writing in his journal or whatever. He doesn’t look up, but the sudden stop he makes is obvious. Zelda notices, but continues.
“He talked about...the Calamity, and my birthday...destiny, and the future….I’m not quite sure I can remember his intentions word for word. But he did introduce himself as—“
“Astor…” Zelda and the King say simultaneously. The King has fully perked up now, looking at Zelda. She’s pleased to see a reaction from him. The King rises from his chair, and starts pacing a bit, stroking his beard thoughtfully like the asshole he is.
“So you know him then? This Astor man? Who is he, father? What does he—“
“Were you alright? Did he hurt you, or mention anything else?”
Zelda pauses for a moment before shaking her head, as if the concern he was expressing was uncharacteristic. “N-No. No, I’m fine, and Link was there. During the battle, as Link fought him off, that was when the sword was pulled. Then Astor fled, or...” Zelda pauses for a beat, “retreated...he expressed his wish to speak with me again.”
Another beat of silence, as Rhoam gets up, hands clasped behind his back. “He used to work at this very palace.” The shot is now directly on Rhoams back, as he faces a bookcase, although it’s clear that he’s just deep in thought, and not just staring at books. Rhoam is in third column of the shot (he’s to the right, not in the center)
“A trusted advisor. Someone gifted with foresight, who many years ago, had first predicted the coming Calamity.” Cut to shot of Rhoams face, the camera being by the bookcase, so that we see Rhoam’s expression and Zelda’s.
“In truth, I thought him dead. For the last time I saw him alive—truly, truly alive—was ten long years ago...” The shot goes back to the original establishing shot, of Rhoam facing away from the camera, towards the bookcase, he’s standing to the right, hands still clasped behind his back.
“...when your mother still graced this earth.”
From left frame, a younger Astor walks up and stands beside Rhoam. He runs his fingers along the books. Rhoam looks to his left, as if he is seeing Astor. Camera cuts to Astor’s right, as if looking at him from Rhoam’s perspective. He continues brushing his fingers against the spines of the books, before he finds the one he’s looking for. Pulling it out, he opens the book, flipping through its pages, before giving a genuine smile. Cut back to wide angle behind them. With the book, Astor starts walking back out left frame, but this time the camera follows him. Filter fade to a memory tint as the camera pans right to left
Tumblr media
[when the camera fades fully into the Astor memory, the figures can have that silhouetted effect like you see in botw. Cause I know Nintendo hates making new character models for some reason.]
Tumblr media
So if it wasn’t clear already, even though the memory filter doesn’t come immediately, Astor isn’t actually there, but it’s just a flashback. I’m a sucker for merges, which is something this game and botw NEVER do which bugs me because there are so many creative ways you could introduce flashbacks without just doing “ooOooOoo fade to sepia filter and then oooOOooOOO we fade back to reality and no time has passed.” I apologize if my explanation of the camera doesn’t make sense as it’s hard without much visual aid, but hopefully it makes sense so far. Anyhow! Let’s continue.
We’re now fully immersed in this memory, but King Rhoam’s voice still narrates overhead.
Astor brings the book to one of the desks in the library, where a woman sits writing something onto paper. News flash, it’s the queen. Astor hands her the book and starts speaking about something, although you can tell the tone of their conversation is light, almost akin to Zelda rambling about Sheikah Technology. The Queen laughs about something unheard, as Astor continues ranting about something, his hands moving to like a professor giving a lecture.
Rhoam Narration: “When he had first predicted the Calamity, things were much more hopefully for our kingdom. As although his foresight granted him only glimpses and fragments of a future, he was almost certain that with the Guardians, and the strength of your mother’s power, our victory would be absolute.”
Scene changes to the Queen walking down a corridor, Astor is leaning against the wall by a window.
Rhoam Narration: “He and your mother would often work together tirelessly to study the ancient arts, to make the most of the powers given by the goddess.”
The Queen has walked up to Astor now. She crouches down and gestures to her left, the side not yet seen by the camera.
Rhoam Narration: “In fact…”
The camera changes to focus to where the Queen was looking towards—a young Zelda, crouched behind her mother’s dress, stares up at Astor.
Rhoam Narration: “I would not be surprised if you found within yourself, a memory of such.”
I would prefer if you could see the expressions of Astor (giving Zelda not a smile, but not really a frown or anything rude either) and young Zelda. But I guess it can also just be silhouettes too cause again, Nintendo hates giving us younger character models outside of first person POV stuff. Anyhow.
The scene fades, the light from the window dimming as everything darkens.
Rhoam Narration: “I often times wish we could go back to such a time, when victory and pride swam in every corner of this castle.  But of course…”
The scene brightens again, although not as bright as before. It’s the exact same corridor with the large window, but now it’s raining. A young Zelda stands alone in front of it, looking outside.
Rhoam Narration: “Such a time did end…”
We now cut to a new scene, King Rhoam is walking down a hall, the camera’s perspective is of a bird’s eye view, like we’re peering in from outside a window. We can see the shadow of Astor chasing after him, as he starts speaking frantically about something, not quite, but almost to the point of shouts.
Rhoam Narration: “After your mother died, the visions of the future shifted drastically. No longer was there glimpses of rolling fields and shimmering skies, but instead, of rubble, red earth, and death.”
You can now more clearly hear the words coming out of Astor’s mouth. He is telling something about failure, and souls, and the Calamity to the King’s ear. He’s still walking forward.
Rhoam Narration: “He was adamant that our demise was now coming faster than ever, and that without your mother, we were doomed. That even you, should you take up your mother’s mantle, could not save everyone.”
Astor: “I’m telling you Your Majesty, if you go down this path, there is no going back.”
King Rhoam: “There is no other choice, we are moving forward.”
Astor: “I don’t think you quite understand the true gravity of the fate you’re choosing for yourself. It is a guarantee that you, me, and countless others shall die.”
King Rhoam: “I don’t want to hear it.”
Astor: “And of course, there are a multitude of possibilities, but the end result is the same.”
Astor: “Do you have a preference, perhaps? Crushed by rubble? Suffocation under ash?”
Rhoam’s tone is deadly: “Stop.”
Astor: “I’ve seen fire too. I’m not yet quite sure the exact circumstances that lead to flame appearing and spreading so quickly, but rest assured that if you—”
King Rhoam: “Stop.”
Astor: “If you saddle someone else with this duty I am absolutely certain that you and I will—”
King Rhoam, voice not shouting, but still with a booming intensity: “Just like you were so certain of our victory 10 years ago?”
Astor’s face darkens. He’s silent for a moment, collecting his words before practically spitting the first articulation: “...That, future, was the one that would come to be if Her Majesty was alive. If you’re so unsatisfied with my departed wisdom you can go ahead and flail around with destiny alone. You think I choose for these events to happen? You think I lie when I saw I want what’s best for this kingdom—”
King Rhoam: “What’s best for you.”
An ugly pause.
King Rhoam: “It is decided, Seer. It’s time you accept this. My wife is dead. That is the truth. Thus the role of sealing the Calamity shall pass to my daughter. She will work to awaken her own ability. It will be her duty to save us.”
Astor half laughs: “A child?! Surely you don’t need the supernatural to see how foolish that is.”
King Rhoam’s voice is even more stern: “You are living proof that the future is not absolute. Therefore I...must place all belief in her ability.”
The King walks away, leaving Astor alone. Weirdly, he smiles. Perhaps to mask some other emotion.
After another moment, Astor yells to the King: “I’ll fix this! Alone if I must!” He’s chuckling as he shakes his head. “Your useless faith may cost many lives, but even so mark my words, I will fix this.”
The King looks back, but says nothing, his expression unreadable. He continues forward, leaving Astor alone chuckling, or perhaps something in between chuckling and crying to himself.
Rhoam Narration: “We haven’t spoken since that day. I simply left him to his devices. If he was so determined to find another way to stop the Calamity, then who was I to stop him. I doubt my word could have swayed his mind regardless.
We’re now looking at a room, the camera is just by the doorway, looking at an office, circular and domed. It’s stone brick walls are covered in parchment and ripped books, covered in symbols and frantic writing. An old Sheikah tapestry hangs crudely on the left wall, and the window on the right seems to tint grey, or even a deepest crimson. Centerframe, is the back of Astor, robe hanging just above the paper ridden floor. He is flipping through something on his desk.
Rhoam Narration: “Fixated as he was on the perfect future that you mother might have led, I still had hope that with time, he might still assist you with your destiny one day.”
The camera slowly comes closer to Astor. We can see more clearly the type of stuff that sprawls the papers and books and diagrams across his office. Some depict stars and constellations, and even a few notes on Ancient Technology, although in a noticeably cleaner font. However, as the camera moves close and closer to Astor, the papers and books depict only one clear topic: the aura of death that comes only with necromancy.
Rhoam Narration: “It seems…”
Astor finally reacts to whatever he was doing on his desk. You don’t see his eyes, but as he fully turns around to face the camera, you see his smile, along with him holding a dark orb of unknown energy. It hovers in his hand.
Rhoam Narration: “...I was mistaken.”
The camera cuts to a wide angle, looking at Astor from behind a stack of books on his desk. The stack of books on Astor’s desk brighten in color (from the memory dull filter), until the scene fully fades back into the Royal Library. The camera is now focused on a similar stack of books on the desk behind Zelda, where Rhoam was working before.
Zelda is still looking at her father, who is still turned away. Now, he turns back around to face her.
“He had disappeared completely one day, so it was my understanding that whatever he was working on killed him. However, if he is truly back as you say…”
Rhoam walks closer to Zelda, close enough that he might have put a hand on her shoulder, but his arms stay behind his back.
“It is in your utmost interest to prove him wrong. I know not what he plans on doing, but it would be wise to stop him before he does.”
Rhoam turns away now, pacing back to the otherside of the desk. “But, your more important priority is unlocking your powers, understand? Now more than ever, is not the time to get distracted.”
Zelda, taking this all in, takes a deep breath. She then nods at him. “I understand...Father.”
After a moment, the King makes a motion as if to dismiss her. She starts to walk away, her thoughts churning in her head, heart thumping to the same beat as her echoing footsteps. Suddenly, Rhoam calls,
“Zelda.” It’s not a question, but the tone is asked like one.
She turns back, looking at him, expectantly. Rhoam only stares at her, an uncharacteristic moment of uncertainty for him. The words he wants to form seem stuck in his throat, until finally, he lets out a quiet breathe through his nose, before simply saying:
“You must.”
Zelda can only frown, her shoulder’s slumping slightly, as she ducks her head and leaves.

And that’s that! That’s the complete end of Chapter 3. So tune in next time for Chapter 4, including a new slight but important story changes, Yiga husbands, and shocking turns of events.

some like it hot (2/4) | todoroki x reader x bakugou
Tumblr media
Rated: T (bakugou’s dirty mouth, sexual humor)
Words: 9.2K
Pairing: shouto todoroki x fem!reader x katsuki bakugou
Summary: A Charity Fundraiser leads to you going home with not one, but two of the most popular Pro Heroes of your generation. They say some like it hot, and you certainly aren’t complaining.
AKA: a totally not self-indulgent threesome fic
Chapters: One | Two | Three | Four | AO3
AN: It’s been a terrible week, but I still managed to pump out a chapter, so I feel accomplished! Also available on AO3. Ask to be added to the tag-list. Chapters will be weekly until completion! Thanks in advance for reading!  A note: the reader does have a name used only in dialogue because I hate using “Y/N” in fics. Both names are puns. “Yuna” = Y/N, and the kanji in “Hikai” means “fire time”.
Dubiously, you stare at the file Izuku is holding out to you. The look you send him is all but reproachful as you place your hands on your hips, your lips pressed into a tight line. Izuku fidgets under your gaze, sweat beading on his hairline, but his smile never falters for a second.
“Let me get this straight,” you start slowly. Maybe you didn’t hear him right. With all the muttering and nervous babbling he tends to do, it wouldn’t be a surprise for you to mishear a few things. Though, you have practically mastered the art of deciphering him at his most incoherent. Regardless, you press on, not even trying to mask the utter bewilderment in your voice. “You want me to run all the way to Shouto’s Agency to drop off a single file?”
It sounds even more bizarre when you say it out loud.
Izuku fiddles with the pen on his desk. “Yes?”
The questioning inflection of his reply only makes your frown deepen. Resisting the urge to rub your temples, you send him another hard look. “Aren’t you supposed to be seeing him and Bakugou tonight?” you ask, sure you heard him mention something about the three of them going out for dinner. “It can’t wait until then?”
“It’s important,” he tells you, only slightly more confident in his reply than he was before.
You know you shouldn’t roll your eyes at your boss, but you do so anyway. “I see. And you do realize I’ll be gone for at least two hours, right?”
“It’s very important?”
Your frown turns into a pout.
Any other day you might have agreed to go right away, always happy to see one of your favorite Heroes. But ever since that night at Momo’s, you’ve been doing your best to avoid both Shouto and Katsuki. It wasn’t on purpose at first. You planned on going out for drinks with Katsuki and Kirishima over the weekend like you always do, only to be slapped in the face with the reminder of what you told the girls. Mina’s jokes about a threesome came crashing back over you, and with the dirty fantasies floating through your head, you knew that being drunk around Katsuki would end in nothing but loose lips and an extremely awkward confrontation.
You didn’t even want to think about the possibility of rejection, so you called Kiri to cancel with excuses of planning the fundraiser—which wasn’t technically a lie.
Katsuki wasn’t happy about it, obviously, but you know how to handle him. You just need to make it through this fundraiser before making any life altering decisions including, but not limited to, trying to fuck two Pro Heroes that also happen to be two of your closest friends.
Avoidance was clearly the best answer to this.
Of course, your luck seems to have run out today thanks to Izuku. You have no idea where he’s going with this or why one of his sidekicks can’t bring Shouto this supposedly very important file, but seeing as the alternative is more phone calls and paperwork, you might as well go along with it. And you won’t lie and say you aren’t a little excited at the prospect of seeing Shouto today.
That being said, you aren’t above giving Izuku a little hell for it first.
“I don’t feel like I can leave you alone for that long without something terrible happening,” you say bluntly, careful to keep your mouth from twitching into a smile. Though you’re only teasing, a part of you does mean it. As great of a Hero as Izuku is, he’s also practically a walking safety hazard.
He really hasn’t changed all that much since UA.
The pout that forms on his face makes you feel like you’ve just kicked a puppy. “I don’t know what you mean,” he says, sulking. Those big, green eyes of his stare down at you from the other side of his desk, only adding to the effect.
You aren’t so easily swayed. “The last time I left you alone here, you managed to dislocate your entire arm,” you remind him, casting a pointed glance at said arm. Even now, you aren’t entirely sure how he managed that in the time it took you to grab lunch at a cafe not even fifteen minutes from the agency. You’re never going to let him live it down.
“That was an accident!” Izuku defends himself, flushing all the way to the tips of his ears. The color clashes spectacularly with the green of his hero costume.
Your tone is beyond dry when you say, “I’m aware.”
Izuku’s expression melts into one of distress, and again you wonder why this file is such a big deal. Whatever it is, it’s making your boss more skittish and awkward than usual, something you didn’t even think was possible. “Please, Hikai? This is really, really important! I don’t trust anyone else to do this but you!”
“This is manipulation,” you tell him, crossing your arms. Even as you say that, your heart swells with the sheer level of trust he has in you. Izuku must realize it too. There’s something cunning behind those puppy dog eyes.
He blinks at you far too innocently. “I don’t know what you mean.”
Well played, Deku.
Heaving an over-dramatic sigh, you hold out your hand and wiggle your fingers impatiently. “Give me the damn file.” A megawatt smile stretches across his face before the file is practically shoved into your hand. “Really, Midoriya, you have to stop leaving things until the last minute. One day it’s going to get you in trouble.”
He rubs the back of his head in embarrassment, ruffling the curly strands of his hair. “That’s what I have you for,” he tells you. The sincerity in his voice makes you soften. “Oh!” His eyes suddenly light up. “How’s everything been with planning the fundraiser?”
“About as well as you’d expect considering the short notice,” you muse, idly thumbing the edge of the file you’ve been handed. Surprisingly, you haven’t had too many issues beyond your less than friendly conversation with Mr. Fujikaze. Most other agencies have been understanding about the situation, and your contacts have been pulling through despite the time crunch. “I’ve contacted most of the agencies in the country like you asked and almost all have replied affirmatively, though some will only be making short appearances.” You glance at him. “Not everyone can leave the field for an entire night.”
Izuku nods, his brows furrowed in thought. “That makes sense,” he murmurs aloud, staring down at the surface of his desk. “Even with the crime rate dropping again, we can’t be too careful.”
Humming, you turn your gaze to the windows overlooking the city behind him. While not nearly as grandiose as some other agencies you’ve been in, you’ve always loved the view from Izuku’s office.
“Exactly.”
With the highly publicized nature of the fundraiser, you’re sure that some people will take the opportunity to commit crimes, violent or otherwise, but it’s nothing most Pros haven’t had to work around before. The event itself will have heightened security even with the amount of Pros attending. Frankly, you’re more worried about the general public, though you know they’ll be in good hands even without Heroes like Deku, Shouto, and Ground Zero. Izuku himself would probably insist on patrolling that night if he wasn’t the one hosting, but you know his sidekicks will be able to handle things for one night.
“How’s everything else going?” he asks. “I know you had to pull a lot of strings to make this work. Thank you, by the way.”
You wave him off and shrug, but offer him a small smile. “It’s my job.” And, hey, if this whole personal assistant gig falls through, at least you have a potential future as a wedding planner. “We have a venue and caterer lined up,” you explain to Izuku. “I’m hoping to hear back from my other contacts by the end of the day, but so far, everything seems to be going well.”
A look of relief appears on his face. “That’s good,” he says, breathing a sigh. At your raised eyebrow, he panics, thinking he’s said something wrong. “Not that I thought you couldn’t do it!” he’s quick to explain, quickly turning an even darker shade of red. “You’ve always been great at organizing things! Though this was super short notice, so I wouldn’t have been disappointed if you couldn’t put it together that fast. But I would never doubt you like that. You always go beyond! Plus—”
Mercifully, you hold up a hand to stop his rambling. You have work to do, and you know from experience that he would go on and on until someone stopped him or he ran out of air, and Izuku has quite the impressive set of lungs.
“Deep breaths, Midoriya,” you chide playfully, reaching out to pat him on the back. “I know what you meant. Thank you for having so much faith in me.”
“Okay,” he murmurs, going right back to beaming at you. “Thanks again for doing this—the event and the file, I mean.”
You gather your discarded purse and jacket, carefully tucking the file into your bag. “Well, it’s not like I had much of a choice,” you joke as he leads you to the door. “What would you do without me?”
“Apparently, I’d die.”
Your laughter cuts off as soon as you reach the door, your expression sobering as you remember the phone call you received shortly before Izuku called you into his office. You didn’t have the chance to tell him before he was practically shoving a folder in your hands and babbling something about you needing to see Shouto immediately.
Izuku stops beside you. His expression turns to one of concern as he notices the look on your face.
“There’s one more thing,” you tell him, lowering your voice though it’s only the two of you in the room. “I received an answer from Endeavor’s assistant this morning.”
The statement is heavy and laced with more meaning than so few words could typically hold. You can’t keep the bitterness from creeping in as you say the former Hero’s name, but Izuku either doesn’t notice or chooses to ignore it.
Somehow, he manages to keep his voice light when he asks, “Oh? And what did he say?” Izuku’s gaze slides to the door and refuses to move. You can only imagine what might be running through his head.
“He’ll be making an appearance at the gala.” Absently, your fingers clench around the strap of your purse, knuckles turning white from the pressure. As soon as you realize what you’re doing, you sigh through your nose, forcing yourself to release your grip. “He may be retired now, but it matters a lot to the public that the former number one Pro Hero makes an appearance at things like this. Not everyone may like Endeavor, but most people do respect him. It’s exactly the show of support we need right now.” You turn to Izuku, and his gaze finally rises to meet yours again. “Similarly, All Might will be there as well, even though he retired almost a decade ago.” Your lips quirk upwards. “Though, I’m sure you’re already aware of that,” you tease, hoping to lighten the mood.
It works. Izuku is always an easy target to fluster. He sputters and makes a vague excuse while awkwardly waving his arms around like he isn’t sure what to do with them. You wait patiently until he’s done, used to this kind of outburst after so many years. When he’s finally calmed down, his eyes widen a little as he looks at you.
“Does Todoroki know?”
The question makes your stomach churn. “Not yet.” Your admission is soft as you rock back on your heels. “I just found out. Besides,” you look past Izuku to stare out the window again, “I thought it would be better to tell him in person.”
When Izuku doesn’t respond, you clear your throat. “I’ll be back in a few hours.”
He snaps out of his thoughts quickly. “Right!” Izuku reaches around you to open the door, holding it for you politely as you step into the lobby. Your eyes immediately drift to your desk, and you’re more than a little surprised to see a familiar, nervous face sitting behind it. When you stop, Izuku follows your gaze and smiles. “Oh! I’m sending Nakamura with you!” he explains as the hero in training waves at you awkwardly. “He’ll be heading back to UA after and I want to make sure you get to Todoroki’s agency okay!”
It’s a poor excuse if you’ve ever heard one, but you don’t have time to question it. Your eyes follow Izuku as he darts back into his office. He’s not fast enough to hide his ever widening smile though.
He’s up to something, you decide as you make your way to the flustered intern behind your desk. You don’t know what he’s up to, but you’re going to find out.
The train ride across the city was nothing short of awkward between you and Seiji. The poor intern didn’t seem to know what to say to you outside of a professional setting. He kept squirming in his seat and wringing his hands, glancing at you occasionally in a way that wasn’t nearly as subtle as he thought he was being. Clearly there was something on his mind, but you weren’t about to ask. You figured if it was important enough, he’d come out and say it when he was ready.
Meanwhile, you took the opportunity to get some additional work done. Izuku may have kicked you out of the office, but you did still have a job to complete. The fundraiser wasn’t going to plan itself, and the date was rapidly approaching. You’d made good progress so far, but that didn’t mean you could start slacking.
It isn’t until the two of you are within a block from Shouto’s agency that Seiji finally perks up. There’s an additional bounce to his step that reminds you of an overexcited puppy, and it makes your lips twitch in amusement.
It’s only then that you realize he’s so much taller than you, gangly with long limbs that carry him faster than you can walk. He keeps getting ahead of you, only to freeze up when he realizes you aren’t there, quickly glancing around almost frantically until he spots you again. It’s absolutely adorable the way his eyes light up and he visibly relaxes.
“Hey, Hikai?” he asks once you catch up to him for what must be the fifth time. “What’s Shouto like? You seem like you know each other pretty well.” Those blue eyes of his are too wide with innocence, and you school your expression before you can flush once you remember what Seiji saw last week.
“You met him last week,” you remind the teenager, adjusting your grip on your purse and double checking that the file is still tucked into place. “What do you think he’s like?” There’s something disconcerting about discussing one of your friends that you’ve thought about fucking on multiple occassions with your boss’s new student intern.
Seiji’s eyebrows furrow as he thinks over your question. “He was nice,” he decides, glancing down at you. “Just… really quiet.”
A low hum of agreement escapes you. “Don’t take it personally. Sho isn’t much of a talker.” Especially in comparison to Izuku’s excited ramblings and Katsuki’s loud presence. “If you stay with Deku for a while, I’m sure he’ll warm up to you though.” You smile up at Seiji and pat him on the arm.
He flushes at the attention. And there’s no hiding the pride shining in his eyes at the insinuation that the Deku would take him on as a sidekick after graduation. To cover his embarrassment, he sputters out, “So, you’ve known them for a long time then? Shouto and Ground Zero?”
“Almost as long as Izuku. I met them through him. Deku has a way of adopting people.” You sigh. “Neither of them have changed much since UA.”
“I see,” Seiji murmurs as you reach the front doors to the agency. He politely holds the door for you as you step inside, a look of deep contemplation on his face. His head cocks to one side as he stares at you, eyes narrowed just a tick before they widen. “That must mean you’re pretty close.” There’s an unexpectedly sly tinge to the statement, like he’s hinting at something more.
Your breath catches at the statement. Seiji notices. “I suppose so,” you say before turning your attention to the receptionist in front of you.
After a short greeting, she lets you pass, recognizing you from previous visits. You’re told that Shouto just returned from a patrol and is already waiting for you in his office, and with a parting smile you and Seiji head for the elevator.
It’s only after the doors close behind you that you look at Seiji again, confusion clear on your face as you remember what Izuku told you earlier. “Shouldn’t you be heading back to the dorms by now? I don’t know how long this will take, and I don’t want you to have to wait for me. You should go enjoy your afternoon.”
“No!” Seiji protests a little too quickly, voice cracking. He shakes his head almost violently. You stare up at him in bewilderment as those big blue eyes meet yours seriously. “Deku told me to walk you to Shouto’s office,” he babbles, struggling for an excuse. “We aren’t in the office yet!”
“I—” You shake your head, decide it’s not worth questioning as the elevator comes to a stop and the doors open. “Yeah, okay, sure.” If that’s what he wants to do, who are you to stop him?
An achingly familiar voice calls out your name as you and Seiji step into the top floor lobby. The smile that overtakes you in response is automatic once you see Shouto already waiting for you.
“Shouto.” You practically breathe his name, and it would be pathetic if there was anyone else around aside from Shouto, who’s, frankly, as dense as a brick at times, and Seiji, your boss’s dorky intern. Before you can do something stupid like staring at his toned forearms, you forcibly peel your eyes away from the sliver of skin at his throat left uncovered by his hero suit and look up at Seiji. “Can you make it to UA from here, Nakamura?” Your voice is higher than usual. “I don’t want you getting on the wrong train.”
Seiji smiles a little too wide. “I’ll be fine.”
“Good.” Turning to Shouto again, you nod towards his office. “Should we…?” You could just as easily hand him the file and leave with Seiji, go back to work, return the dozen phone calls you still have to make, and check to see if everything is still going smoothly in your short absence, but you’re rooted in place under Shouto’s fond gaze. You’ve missed him more than you care to admit—Katsuki too—and now that he’s in front of you, you can’t just walk away.
More than that, there’s something you need to discuss. The thought makes your stomach flip anxiously.
Shouto seems to relax at your suggestion and gestures for you to follow him as he turns toward his office. You wave to Seiji over your shoulder and are vaguely aware of him taking a seat in one of the leather chairs situated in the lobby area.
You shut the door behind you.
“I believe this is yours,” you say as you pull the folder from your bag and hold it out for him.
Shouto gives you a small smile. “Thank you.”
“How’s the case going?” you ask, gesturing to the file you’ve handed over. The two of you easily slip into a familiar routine as Shouto settles himself behind his desk and you lean against the side of it before hoisting yourself up to sit on the glass surface. “I was a little surprised when you called in Izuku and Katsuki for help. The last time the three of you worked together like this was…”
“Operation Vermillion,” he finishes for you, thumbing through the stack of papers. “That was right after we opened our agencies. I remember you leading the briefing.” His blue-grey eyes flicker to yours, and his smile widens a fraction. “My old man tried to give you trouble, and you shut him down. I’d never seen him so shocked before.”
Humming, you start to smile as well. “He never did like me much.” It’s a perfect segway into what you need to discuss with him, though you wish it wasn’t.
You lean back on your hands, watching silently as he idly flips through the files from Izuku. That knot in your stomach tightens. Your gaze shifts to the aged burn scar covering his left eye. Just another reminder of Endeavor. It makes you sick to think about, and this is the last thing you want to talk about right now, but you know he deserves to hear it before Friday night. Even so, your tongue feels thick and heavy in your mouth.
Clearing your throat, you wait until he looks at you to speak. “I figured I should let you know that Endeavor will be at the charity gala.” Your gaze holds steady as you say it, gauging his reaction.
Predictably, Shouto stiffens. It’s slight. Anyone else probably wouldn’t notice it. Shouto’s always been good at burying his emotions and acting like he doesn’t care. But you can read him. And you’re close enough to hear him inhale sharper than normal. The tense line of his broad shoulders and the nearly imperceptible twitch of his fingers are your only warning before the temperature in the office drops drastically.
Goosebumps prickle across your bare arms, and you shiver reflexively. The ghost of your breath clouds the air as you exhale, but you don’t move from your spot on his desk even as frost begins to creep across the glass. It branches outward from his palm, slow and sluggish, and you wonder if he realizes he’s even using his quirk.
The ice stops just shy of your fingertips. A heavy sigh falls from his lips. Your eyes flicker back to his only to find him already staring at you apologetically.
“I expected as much,” he tells you, a bitter tinge to his voice. When Shouto smiles, it’s rueful and nothing short of sarcastic. “It would look bad in the eyes of the public for the former number one Hero not to be there.”
You hum your agreement, having said as much to Izuku earlier. The temperature begins to rise again, and the thin layer of frost on the desk melts and evaporates before it can make a mess. You watch him carefully as you pick at a spot of lint on your dress. “How have things been lately?” you ask casually. “Between you and him.”
Shouto is silent for a moment that seems to stretch on for hours, seemingly frozen behind his desk as he stares at his reflection in the glass. What he’s seeing there, you don’t know, but the torrent of emotions that flicker in his eyes makes your chest feel tight. It’s melancholy. Resignation. Bitterness. A dozen other things that come and disappear so quickly that you couldn’t put a name to them even if you tried.
An incessant need to pull him close buries itself inside you and takes root. You can feel it in your throat, choking you, urging you to move, but for now you ignore it.
“He’s… trying,” Shouto settles with. “But…” Those mismatched eyes hesitate before they meet yours, and you’re struck by just how exhausted he looks. Sighing, he stands and glances away from you, looking out the large window overlooking the city. “I don’t know,” he finishes bluntly, eyes finding you again. “It’s difficult. I understand that he’s trying, but I still…” he trails off again and shakes his head.
Shouto walks around the edge of his desk to stand in front of you, close enough that his leg brushes against your knee. His palms settle on either side of you, boxing you in, and heat creeps along your spine as you tilt your head to maintain eye contact with him.
Like last time, the scent of his cologne tickles at your senses. Automatically, you lean in closer, lulled by the heat rolling off of him in gentle waves. Shouto doesn’t pull away, and like always you’re pinned in place as those mesmerizing eyes stare down at you.
He wets his lips, and you unintentionally follow the movement with your eyes. “Izuku thinks I should forgive him,” Shouto tells you, voice lower than before. Deeper. His thumb brushes against your bare leg, just above your knee. It’s freezing to the touch and you swallow your gasp. “He says it would bring me peace.” The heat of his breath tickles your skin.
“Oh?” It takes more willpower than you thought to keep your voice even.
A low sound rumbles in the back of his throat. His thumb taps against your leg again, flirting with the hem of your skirt. Shouto’s eyes stay locked on yours. “Bakugou says I should tell him to shove it up his ass.” The faintest hint of a smile tugs at the edge of his mouth.
That doesn’t surprise you. Katsuki can be too blunt for his own good at times. He and Shouto are both like that. Clearly, you have a type, and it’s fogging your brain a little how close he is. A little voice in the back of your head that sounds suspiciously like Mina whispers how easy it would be to close that distance and pull him down to you, how good it would feel to have those hands of his sliding across your skin.
Now isn’t the time for that though.
“And what do you think?” you ask him in a voice barely above a whisper. His hand stills beside you, and the burning chill makes you shiver again. Surprise flickers in his eyes as he peers down at you through his bangs. “This isn’t about Izuku or Katsuki,” you remind him. “What do you want to do, Sho?”
Shouto inhales sharply as you move. Your fingers find his left hand, still pressed to the glass, and slowly your palm slides up his arm until you’re gripping his bicep just like the other day. An anchor. Like he did before, you allow your thumb to rub slow, soothing circles against the tense muscle beneath your fingertips. In response, his right hand shifts so that he’s gripping your thigh in his palm, long fingers wrapping around you and squeezing.
“I don’t think I’m ready to accept him,” he admits, voice just as soft as yours.
“And that’s okay,” you tell him, brushing his hair away from his eyes with your free hand. Gentle fingers ghost against his cheek and the curve of his jaw, and you allow your hand to linger there, tilting his chin to better meet his eyes. Shouto leans into you. “You don’t have to do anything. It’s not your job to forgive him.” When he looks like he wants to argue you squeeze his arm, pinning him with a harsh stare. “It doesn’t make you less of a Hero.”
That strikes a chord with him. Shouto’s eyes stay locked on yours, refusing to budge as he searches your gaze. For what, you don’t know, but you hope he finds it. His grip on your leg grows tighter, a little bit colder, and you think about the ice that covered his desk without him realizing it. But he’d never hurt you. You know that more than anything.
And then, quietly, “Okay.”
The tension slowly drains from his shoulders as the two of you stay like that. The soft pad of your thumb rubs against his cheek, and you absently stroke the high point of the bone just under his eye. Shouto leans into your hand, lips pressing against your palm in what isn’t quite a kiss, but something close. In response, you squeeze his upper arm before letting go. There’s a noise of protest bubbling in the back of his throat, but your hand reaching up to cradle the left side of his jaw silences him before it can slip out entirely.
With your finger you trace the edge of his scar, smooth with age and familiar under your gentle touch. You try not to think too hard about the way he’s looking at you or the heat of his breath on your forearm. Raw instinct begs you to do something—anything. To lean in. To draw him down to you. To sink your fingers into his hair and pull.
Instead you smile and hope he can’t hear how fast your heart is beating. “If you ever need to hide a body, you can call me,” you joke, because you aren’t sure what else to say. You just want to make him feel better.
Shouto’s chuckle is low and throaty and it sends a shock down your spine. “Oh? Is that so?” He shifts his weight to his other leg but is careful not to dislodge your hands from his face. And you can’t bring yourself to release him either.
Your thumb brushes against his scar again, and you say, “I know a guy.”
His head tilts to the side, and he raises an eyebrow at you, clearly amused. “You do remember what my occupation is, correct?”
You should stop holding him like this—intimately—but the way he’s looking at you makes you feel like you have the whole damn world in your hands, and how could you possibly let that go?
“Are you going to arrest me, Hero?”
Shouto shakes his head, a small but genuine smile tugging at his lips. “You are so…” He sighs as he trails off, and you’re surprised when he releases your leg to wind his arm around you instead, pulling you into his chest. You go willingly. Tucking your head under his chin, your hands leave his face to wrap around him, returning the embrace. His heart beats loud beneath your ear, as strong and steady as his hands.
His lips find the crown of your head and his hand slides up your back so that he’s cupping the nape of your neck. “Thank you, love,” he murmurs against your hair, too quiet for you to hear.
You aren’t sure how long the two of you sit like that, but the next time you speak your lips brush against the cold buckle holding together the collar of his hero suit. “You don’t have to talk to him at the gala,” you remind him, returning to your initial conversation. The mention of Endeavor is sobering, and you hear him sigh above you. “And if he tries to talk to you, I can be your human shield.”
The offer makes him hum. “My human shield, huh? Will you have time for that on top of everything Izuku has you doing?” His thumb rubs against the back of your neck absentmindedly.
You shrug. “I can make time for one of my favorite Heroes,” you tease him, tightening your grip around his waist.
He stiffens. “I see,” Shouto murmurs. His fingers are still against the back of your neck, and you could swear you feel the heat of his hand begin to grow. “And what about Bakugou?” There’s an edge to his voice that you almost don’t notice, but when it registers, you pull your head from his chest with a small frown.
Jealousy. That’s what it is, you realize as your eyes seek out his.
Your traitor heart practically skips at the mere mention of the other hero. Right, Katsuki. That’s another thing you have to figure out. Not for the first time you think about Momo’s suggestion. This time, though, you don’t force it away just as quickly as it comes. A part of you is desperate to know if it would work between the three of you, if it’s worth the risk. Because you can’t keep holding Shouto like this if you won’t do something about it. It’s not fair to Shouto or Katsuki to keep dancing around things.
But then your thoughts go back to the gala, and your stomach drops when you remember how much you still have to do, how much pressure you’re under, and how important it is that this event goes as planned. No slip-ups. No disasters. And absolutely no messy relationship drama.
It just has to wait until after Friday night.
“What about him?” you ask, hoping your voice isn’t higher than usual.
His expression shifts, his brows furrowing as he looks down at you. “I thought—” He cuts himself off with a shake of his head. Your stomach drops as he starts to unwrap himself from your frame. “Nevermind. It’s nothing.”
You’re left overwhelmingly cold as he slips away, and you follow him without meaning to, sliding off the desk and landing back on your feet. “Shouto?”
He avoids your eyes as he reaches for the file sitting on his desk. “Thank you. For dropping this off.” Shouto hesitates before he looks at you again, swallowing thickly, but then his expression goes carefully blank. “You didn’t have to go out of your way.”
Your heels click against the tile as you take a step towards him. “What do you mean?” A frown forms on your lips, confusion sweeping through you at the turn in conversation.
Whatever was going through his head a moment ago seems to have disappeared. Shouto peers down at you with a puzzled look. “Midoriya was going to give this back to me tonight,” he explains. You nod, having already known that. “He called and told me you offered to drop it off on your way home. He said you have a half day.” Shouto’s expression softens. “That’s good. You’ve been working too hard.”
“Oh. Did he?” A half day. Amazing how Izuku neglected to mention that little detail to you earlier. It seems like you’re due to have a little chat with your boss. You glance at the door to see a familiar head of dark hair duck out of sight and your eyes narrow when you realize Seiji has been waiting here the entire time. So much for going back to the dorms. “Well, I should get going,” you say, gathering your things. “I don’t want to bother you.”
Besides, apparently it’s your day off.
He’s shaking his head before you’ve even finished, expression nothing but sincere. “You never do,” he says as he walks you to his office door. And then, softer, “I like when you stop by.”
Your chest tightens at the admission. “I’ll see you Friday,” you tell him as he opens the door for you. There’s so much more you want to tell him, but now just isn’t the right time.
Shouto’s palm presses against your lower back and you readily relax into his touch, glancing up at him. Heat sinks into your skin and radiates through you until you can feel it everywhere at once, all consuming. “Save me a dance?” he asks, his breath tickling your ear.
Smiling, you nod. “Of course.”
“I’m telling you, Ochako, Izuku is scheming something.” You glance at her from across the table, idly stirring your drink, and your eyes narrow when you notice she’s biting her lip to keep from laughing at your assertion. “This isn’t funny, I’m being serious!”
This time she does laugh. “This is Deku we’re talking about,” she reminds you, waving off your concerns as she picks at her food. “You really think he would do something like that?”
“If he thought it was the right thing to do, yes. He’s kind of nosy.”
You ended up calling Izuku directly after leaving Shouto’s office, only waiting until you saw Seiji racing around the corner to get to the train station and frantically texting on his phone to dial your boss. He picked up on the second ring, like he’d been waiting for your call. It wouldn’t surprise you if he was. You could barely get a word in before he was babbling something about you deserving the rest of the day off and to do something fun before you were abruptly hung up on, only furthering your suspicions.
Hence, you called Ochako. Though, you’re beginning to regret that decision.
“I don’t know,” she drawls, quirking a skeptical eyebrow. “You seem to think people are much more invested in your love life than they really are.”
You scowl. “Oh, don’t give me that bullshit when you and Mina interrogated me the other night.” Not invested in your love life, your ass. You were perfectly fine ignoring your feelings until they brought up a threesome. Now, it’s the only thing you can think about. “Besides, why else would Izuku have his intern spy on me while I was talking to Shouto today?”
“I seriously doubt he was spying on you.”
“Izuku told us two different stories about why I was dropping off that file. That’s not exactly subtle.” For a Pro Hero it was a pretty lame move, if you’re being honest. “And Nakamura sat outside Sho’s office for like fifteen minutes while we talked. And he insisted on walking me up to his office. That doesn’t seem odd to you?”
Ochako shrugs. “Maybe he has a crush on you?” The suggestion makes you blanche and she backtracks. “I just don’t think Izuku would actively try to spy on you and Todoroki. That’s a little weird, even for him.”
“Maybe you’re right,” you reply, propping your elbow up on the table and resting your chin in your palm.
“See?” Ochako reaches across the table to pat the back of your hand, offering you a sunny smile. “Besides, even if Deku was trying to spy on you guys, you know he’s only doing it because he cares about you guys. He’d never try to make you uncomfortable or anything.”
“I know, I know. I just… I don’t get why, you know? According to you I’m incredibly obvious and Izuku already knows they like me, so I don’t understand why he’d go out of his way to make me see Shouto today unless—” Eyes wide, your gaze snaps to Ochako and you gasp, betrayed. “Did you tell him something about the other night?”
She almost chokes on her drink. “No!” she says just a little too loudly, drawing a few curious eyes their way. Ochako flushes and plays with her chopsticks as you continue to stare her down. “Maybe,” she relents, “but not on purpose! Like I told you the other night, Todoroki and Bakugou have been fighting because they’re jealous idiots, and Deku didn’t know what to do, and it just kind of slipped out, I’m sorry!” The apology in her eyes melts into a more curious look. “Anyway, have you thought about what you’re going to do?”
You sigh and shake your head, picking at your food. “Not yet.” Ochako makes a disgruntled sound, and you pout, glaring at her half-heartedly. “In case you don’t remember, I’ve been extremely busy planning a major event with little warning. I barely have time to eat, let alone seduce two men.”
Seducing just one of them seems like a daunting task. Katsuki is the more open flirt between the two of them, but he tends to clam up whenever you even hint at returning that affection, so actively trying anything could send him running. And Shouto can be difficult to pin down, if his open affection earlier today is anything to go by. He’s usually more reserved; the last thing you want is to scare him away.
“Oh, I don’t think you’d have much trouble trying to seduce them.” Across the table, Ochako’s smile becomes sly. “I mean, they’re both pretty blunt, right? So if you just went up and asked if they wanted to have sex they’d probably say yes. You’re just being a chicken!”
“I am not!” you argue, offended. “I just need this gala to be over before I worry about my love life. That’s all.” It’s been your mantra since girl’s night. Just a few more days. Everything will work out.
She snorts. “You keep saying that, but then you go and cuddle up with Todoroki in his office.”
“It wasn’t cuddling,” you correct her not for the first time today. “It was just a hug because we were talking about his dad.” A very long and intense hug that kind of made you want to let him have his way with you right then and there, but still a hug.
Ochako doesn’t look impressed. “Prolonged physical contact counts as cuddling.”
You throw down your chopsticks and cross your arms, leaning back in your chair. “Ugh, why did I call you?” You’re pouting, you know, but it’s hard not to when you can see her blatant amusement over your suffering. Why are all of your friends so mean to you?
She blows you a kiss. “You love me!”
Damn right you do.
Before she can keep heckling you over the complicated situation that is your love life, a familiar, gruff voice shouts, “Oi! Sweetcheeks!” from across the cafe. You stiffen in your seat as heat rushes through you, leaving you feeling uncomfortably hot. You blame it on the eyes that have shifted to look at you and not the disgustingly attractive Pro Hero stomping towards you.
You don’t dare to look at him as he approaches, sure you’ll turn into a stuttering fool if you do. “Katsuki, what have I told you about calling me that in public?” The correct answer is “not to.”
He scoffs, and you finally force yourself to look at him. He’s already glaring down at you. Why? You have no idea, but you match his look, holding his intense ruby gaze with a stare of your own. It’s a challenge. One he usually takes. But you’re surprised when he drops his gaze first and glares at the floor instead. “Whatever,” he grumbles, cheeks a little pink.
You’re a bit put out by the distinct lack of any flirty comments or obvious—according to Mina—bedroom eyes, but before you can ask what’s wrong, someone else cuts in.
“Oh, hey, guys!”
It’s only then that you realize Kirishima is there too, and you’re only a little embarrassed about that.
But Kiri, bless him, is either entirely oblivious to you not noticing his presence, or just decides to roll with it anyway. He really is too good for the rest of you. “I wasn’t expecting to see you here, too!” His smile is wide and toothy as he rubs the back of his head, careful not to dislodge the bandana holding his hair back. “Midoriya suggested we stop by for lunch, what a coincidence, huh? I gotta say, it looks like a nice place. Hopefully we don’t get kicked out because of this guy.” He jerks a thumb in Katsuki’s direction, electing a sour look from the cranky man.
Your eyes widen as Kiri mentions Izuku, and you shoot Ochako a look that she ignores. Kirishima and Ochako begin to chat about the cafe, but you stop listening.
Okay, now you’re almost positive you’re being set up. The cafe isn’t anywhere near their agency, and it’s more than a little suspicious that they just happened to show up while you and Ochako are here. Coincidences, your ass. You should have known better than to trust Ochako. Of course, she and Izuku would be in cahoots. Assholes.
You glare at Ochako one more time before allowing yourself to stare unabashedly at Katsuki instead. He isn’t looking at any of you, instead choosing to glare at something across the cafe and pretend the rest of you don’t exist. You resist the urge to roll your eyes, instead using the rare moment to just look at him.
Katsuki is nothing short of eye-candy, though you never really get the chance to appreciate just how damn hot he is without the chance of being teased mercilessly in front of other people. Even now, you can see Ochako biting her lip to keep from laughing at you, but really who can blame you for just wanting to ogle him a little? Katsuki is by far one of the most attractive men you’ve ever seen. Years of training and fighting have covered him in lean muscle, and his features have become sharper since you were teenagers.
He’s nothing short of someone’s wet dream, and he damn well knows it, too.
Your eyes drag down his bare biceps slowly, silently thanking whatever gods are out there for his aversion to anything with sleeves. You stare a little longer before your eyes trail back up, lingering a moment on those broad shoulders before moving higher.
Red eyes stare back at you, and you almost choke on your spit.
Katsuki’s eyes narrow.
Like the hero he is, Kiri chooses that exact moment to turn to you in excitement. “Hey, how has the event planning been going?” His interest is nothing but sincere, and you can’t help but smile. “It sucks that we missed you this weekend, but hopefully afterwards you’ll have more free time, yeah? It’s super manly of you to take on all of this by yourself!”
“It’s going well, Kiri. Thanks for—”
“I need to talk to you,” Katsuki cuts you off, scowling. He shoves his hands into his pockets, when you don’t move.
You blink back at him, baffled. “What?” He rolls his eyes at your confusion. “Katsuki, I’m kind of in the middle of—Katsuki!” You call after him, gaping as he just turns around and walks away from you, heading towards the back of the cafe.
“Hurry up, angel face!” he calls over his shoulder without stopping.
The pet name makes you flush. You glance at your friends, noticing their similarly dumbfounded yet amused expressions. “Ochako?” You aren’t sure if you should apologize or not as you cast another look at Katsuki just in time to see him round a corner.
She waves you off. “Take your time! Have fun!”
Resisting the urge to roll your eyes, you slip out of your chair and hurry after Katsuki. If you take any longer, he’ll probably bitch about it. Though, you are curious about what he wants, especially if he decided it’s something he can’t say in front of Ochako and Kirishima.
A less than PG thought flashes in your mind, but you force it away just as quickly, fighting down a blush.
You turn the same corner that he did, finding yourself in a dim hallway that has you searching for your favorite head of spiky hair. A hand lashes out, grabbing you by the arm. You gasp as you’re suddenly spun around so that your back is pressed flush up against the nearest wall. Just as quickly, a large pair of hands slap against the wallpaper on either side of you, boxing you in.
A pair of red eyes glare down at you, closer than before. Your breath catches, and your hands press against a well-muscled chest automatically. There’s hardly any space left between the two of you, but Katsuki manages to close that short distance even more until your bodies are just barely brushing against each other. It sets your nerves on fire, all of your senses suddenly attune to him.
He speaks before you can ask him what the hell he’s doing. “Damn Deku said you went to see Icy Hot today,” he practically growls against your ear. His breath fans against your cheek and you shudder.
It takes you a second to collect yourself, overwhelmed by the feel of his chest rising and falling beneath your fingertips. “I dropped off a file with Shouto, yes,” your voice trembles a little, but not because of anything like fear. No, you’re just stupid and horny and he’s close enough for you to smell the heavy caramel scent that clings to him because of his quirk.
You were already more riled up than you’d ever dare to admit out loud, and the heat rolling off of his body paired with the way he’s pinning you between his broad chest and the wall is doing things to you.
Whatever you were expecting from him, it certainly wasn’t this.
He huffs. “Figures,” he sneers, lip curling back. His eyes shift from yours to glare at the wall, and without his gaze on you you find you can breathe again. It only makes you more aware of the knee that’s pressed against the outside of your thigh. “Bastard would do it first,” he grumbles under his breath. You wouldn’t have heard him if he wasn’t pressed up against you like this.
“Excuse me?” Your mouth is dry. Your tongue is thick and heavy. And the heat radiating from him is making you dizzy. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you realize that, just like Shouto earlier, he’s jealous. Though where it made Shouto pull away from you, it only made Katsuki bolder than usual.
“Ask you to be his date to this stupid fucking thing.” His eyes snap back to yours for just a second before they’re raking down your body just like the other day at the agency. He leans in a little closer. “Ask you to dance.”
How does he know about that? “Katsuki?”
When you don’t deny it, he makes a low sound in the back of his throat that has heat pooling low in your stomach. Your fingers fist in his tank top. Katsuki’s lips brush against the shell of your ear as he whispers, “Guess, I’ll just have to remind you that I’m better than Icy Hot.”
As turned on as you are right now, the mention of their stupid rivalry makes you want to roll your eyes.
“Katsuki,” you say again. He’s so close that this time you notice the faintest hitch in his breathing at the way you say his name, sweet as honey. Despite the way your heart is pounding in your chest, you can’t resist the urge to tease him. “If you want me to save you a dance, all you have to do is ask.”
“Tch.” His lips brush against your jaw, barely grazing your skin. “Who’d wanna to dance with you anyway?” Katsuki is slow to lean back again, but only enough to meet your eyes.
You breathe a laugh. “You’re such a grouch.” Tilting your head to the side, you lean in close enough to press a sweet, fleeting kiss against his cheek. Katsuki freezes, sucking in a harsh breath. “I’ll see you Friday?” you ask, sliding your palms down his chest.
He lurches away just as your fingers reach his stomach, edging closer to his belt. “Whatever, sweetcheeks,” he huffs, not meeting your eyes.
Katsuki shoves away from the wall and stomps away without looking back at you once, but you still manage to catch a glimpse of his pink cheeks and the tiny smile he’s trying to hide as he disappears back into the main dining area. He’s flustered, and satisfaction floods through you at the mere thought of leaving him all hot and bothered.
Maybe Ochako was right. This seduction thing might be easier than you thought.
That night, Katsuki leans back in his chair, nursing a drink and only half-listening to Kirishima telling a story to Kaminari, Jirou, and Mina. He stopped paying attention after his first drink, annoyed at being the fifth wheel among his friends, but he only has himself to blame for it.
He was supposed to meet up with Midoriya and Todoroki tonight to go over a case—the same fucking one they went to talk about last week only for it to turn into an argument. That was his fault too, not that he’ll ever admit it. He shouldn’t have cancelled tonight either, but Icy Hot backed out first, and the last way he wanted to spend his night off was listening to fucking Deku give him relationship advice.
The memory of your lips on his cheek makes his skin itch, and he scowls over the rim of his drink as he thinks about that Icy Hot bastard asking you to save him a dance at the stupid party coming up.
The sound of his name draws him out of his stupor.
“Ugh, finally,” an intoxicated Mina slurs, cuddling up closer against Kirishima’s side. “It’s about time one of them made a move. I thought for sure she’d be the one to do it after what she said on girl’s night, but I’m proud of them for finally doing something about it. Usually Bakugou and Todoroki are more emotionally constipated than that.” Apparently, she doesn’t remember that one of said emotionally constipated men is sitting right across from her. Or maybe she doesn’t care. Mina tends to say whatever the hell she wants when she drinks. No filter at all. Mina heaves an over-dramatic sigh. “If those three would just fuck already.”
Katsuki chokes on his drink. Wild, red eyes lock on Mina across the table. “What the hell are you talkin’ about raccoon eyes?” he finally manages to sputter out.
Kirishima and Kaminari look equally as shocked, and Jirou’s face has gone pale, frozen in horror.
And Mina, with no filter or hesitation, looks Katsuki dead in the eyes and says, “Just how Yuna wants to fuck you and Todoroki.”
“Mina!” Jirou snaps, glaring at her furiously and shaking her head. A silent conversation passes between the girls and then Mina gasps, covering her mouth with her hands when her brain finally catches up with her mouth.
A very tipsy Kaminari glances down at his frazzled girlfriend before he blinks and turns to Mina instead. “Like… at the same time or…?” he trails off.
“Don’t answer that!” Jirou lurches forward and slaps a hand over Mina’s mouth as she starts to answer. Despite being unable to speak, the other girl nods behind Jirou’s hand, happily spilling her friend’s sexual fantasies.
Kaminari’s question is like a punch in the gut to Katsuki, but the wave of interest and arousal that crashes over him is unexpected.
Jirou groans and peels her hand away from Mina’s mouth. “Fuck, she’s gonna kill us later.” She shoots a withering glare at Katsuki. “Look, Bakugou, you can’t tease her about this, okay? She’s stressed enough about liking both of you dumb assholes, and if you make her feel bad for it, I’ll make sure Denki lights your ass up like a Christmas tree.”
“I will?” Kaminari asks. Jirou glares at him too. “I mean, yeah I will!”
“Yeah, whatever,” Katsuki grumbles, staring down at his drink. He’s never been shy about wanting to fuck you, and he’s known for years that Icy Hot wants to fuck you too, but he could never figure out which one of them you wanted to fuck. Apparently, it’s both of them.
He can work with that.
Katsuki waits until the conversation shifts to something else he’s not interested in to pull his phone out of his pocket and find a specific name in his recent texts. He keeps the message short and vague, glancing over it once before hitting send.
‘Yo, Icy Hot. We need to talk.'

Shigaraki as a Second Protagonist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In literature, the deuteragonist or secondary main character (from Ancient Greek: δευτεραγωνιστής, deuteragōnistḗs, second actor) is the second most important character.
Greek drama began with simply one actor, the protagonist, and a chorus of dancers. The playwright Aeschylus introduced the deuteragonist; Aristotle says in his Poetics:
Thus, it was Aeschylus who first raised the number of the actors from one to two. He also curtailed the chorus and made the dialogue be the leading part.
A deuteragonist often assumes the role of “sidekick” to the protagonist. Conversely, the deuteragonist could also be a particularly visible antagonist, normally whom the actual antagonist hides behind. For instance while Light is the protagonist of Death Note, due to his equal amount of screen-time and parallel story L could be read as the Deuteragonist, despite acting as the antagonist to Light.
While there are characters that could be seen as a deuteragonist to Midoriya, (Bakugo the rival, Todoroki, even Uraraka and Iida who are set up as a trio with him), I would argue in a classical sense due to the parallel development between Deku and Shigaraki they are set up as a pair. They share the same conflict. They are both trying to achieve their dreams in a society that is fundamentally unequal. Shigaraki’s memories here directly parallel Deku’s in the first chapter, his desires as well.
Shigaraki is meant not as the main villain but rather a secondary protagonist who parallels Deku’s journey but from the dark side of society. Shigaraki first appears as a decoy villain, but as it’s revealed he is a victim, there is a much greater villain responsible for the conflict between Shigaraki and Deku that will be found at the end of their parallel journeys.
1. Midoriya Izuku and Shimura Tenko Origins
Shigaraki and Midoriya share the same conflict from their origin. They were both not allowed to become the people they wanted to be, simply because of the people they were born as. Tenko because he was born as Shimura Nana’s grandson, and Midoriya because he was born quirkless. Not only do they have no control of the circumstances of their birth which means they are suffering from unfair circumstances, but also the environment around them only made this worse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Due to the fact that people are born with different quirks, and some are not born with quirks at all, the current society of MHA is unequal. People with flashy quirks, strong ones, are preferred over people with grotesque and dangerous quirks even though there is no helping someone you are born with. “Quirk Society” is something we are presented as being unfair from the very first chapter, it is the opening line of the series. Therefore it makes sense to make this, the central conflict of the series.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki and Deku are both victims of quirk society. They cannot become the people who they want to be, their fully realized self, or even pursue their dreams because of the circumstances they were born into. Rather than trying to assist them, we see society try to force them back into their slots.
Tumblr media
The central conflict of the story is a classic man vs society conflict. Here we see it represented in abstract form, Deku tries to be an individual, and he’s punished because his desires exceed society’s expectations for him. He even says that it’s not wrong for him to try even though it would be more difficult without a quirk. We see the response is for everyone to gather around Deku and oppose him. Deku is the individual, and Bakugo and the crowd around him are depicted as the outside group. Deku is the other, who must fight to find his place in the world.
The man versus society conflict is when a protagonist has a strong belief against the majority of the community or surroundings and decides to act on it. Since this type of conflict is between a character and an outside group, it is classified as an external conflict.
In the story, we are being shown now that Tenko is dealing with the exact same conflict that Deku is continuously fighting against. In his first flashback with Hana we see that Tenko found out about his grandmother as a superhero, but his father opposed it.
Tumblr media
Tenko and Midoriya both desired to be a hero. They both faced opposition in the form of someone who personally tried to convince them they could never become a hero, likely Tenko’s father because he was abandoned by Nana due to the danger of her profession. Midoriya met opposition in the form of Bakugo who spent most of his life bullying him, in order to prove that Midoriya is someone who could never be a hero and never be better than him.
Tumblr media
However, even though they have loving families that comfort them in spite of this antagonism from Father/Bakugo, those families still repeat what society has always told them. That they cannot become heroes. Both Tenko and Midoriya are both comforted but they are not supported. As Tenko cycles through his memories, he remembers his mother, his grandparents, all being kind but none of them telling him the words he wants to hear. That he can be a hero too. Shimura says that Hana is the only one who ever supported him on that in a way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again, this is the conflict. Society stands in the way of their self realization. Not only are Shimura and Deku told their dreams are impossible over and over again, but also they are repeatedly told they are nothing. Not only can they not become what they want to be, but they can’t become anything at all due to their position as the “outsider” in society.
Tumblr media
It’s even hinted that Shigaraki may have either been abused by his father, or born with some kind of chronic illness that would prevent him from becoming a hero. We see a flashback of his mother treating something wrong with his eye, and everybody else around Shigaraki trying to cheer him up as well. His father is so far the only one who has never appeared in the flashbacks, and it’s also the hand which grips Shigaraki’s face forcefully.
Tumblr media
Either, there was a scar around his eyes left by his father striking him or Shigaraki was chronically ill which caused the wrinkling we see around his eyes and scarring later in life. He needed medicine but he could only keep scratching at it. It’s also noteworthy that Shigaraki shows signs of excoriation later in life, which is a mental compulsion to scratch at his wounds and make them worse when he feels stressed which could have been developed in early life. In the shattered flashback we also see his father’s face up close, as well as an arrow, or pointed object which could have been used to make those scars on his face.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki and Deku have the exact same origin point, to the point of even being harassed and bullied constantly in some form from someone trying to convince them not to become a hero. Shigaraki may have even been a sickly child. However, the greatest thing standing in both of their dreams was simply the person they were born as, something they had no control over and something nobody would let them even try to overcome with effort.
The only difference is how their origins ended. Shigaraki’s chapter where we first learn of his origin is called Shigaraki Tomura: Distortion while Deku’s is called Izuku Midoriya: Origin.
They were just both found by people on opposite sides of the conflict. Deku was saved by the right person, and Shimura Tenko was saved by the wrong person. Which again is something that Tenko had absolutely no control over, he was a child.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Therefore if this is a man vs society conflict, Shigaraki makes more sense as a secondary protagonist who grows and changes and deals with a different aspect of society rather than as a villain to Deku. The reason is because if society is wrong for telling people what their roles should be because of circumstances outside of their control regardless of their efforts to change it, then it would be wrong for labeling Shigaraki as a villain who can only ever be a villain just because he happened to be found by All For One, rather than All Might like Deku was.
2. A Conflict for Self Realization
Tenko and Midoriya are fundamentally people who want to be understood. They want their dreams to be validated. They want to become the person they want to be, regardless of who they were born as. The primary conflict in this story is each of them struggling against that, and attempting to define themselves and improve themselves with effort to escape the circumstances they were born into.
While Deku gets more screentime than Shigaraki, and he also ends up participating in events not as related to this central conflict (because this is shonen manga not a tightly paced story with limited scope), all of the major moments with Deku are when he faces people who tell him that it is impossible for him to become a hero. He cannot become the person he wants to be.
Not only do they go so far as to call his dreams impossible, but they also say that Deku himself is nothing. He is ill fitted or lacking, and so they try to push him back into his slot with antagonism rather than try to support him in becoming somebody.
Tumblr media
Not only was Deku bullied his entire life, but also nobody really ever did anything to stop it. Bakugo literally uses his quirk on Deku in front of the entire class and they just watch, because Bakugo is society’s voice in this case. Even if they might think bullying is wrong, they all agree Deku is worth less because he does not have a quirk. They believe what society has told them to value. Bakugo’s favorite nickname for Midoriya is “Deku” because the character means “Useless.”
Every major antagonist that Deku faces inside of the system insists that he cannot become a hero, either because he was quirkless at some point, because his quirk is not fully developed, or because there is someone else better suited for the role.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he is faced with these words, Deku describes them as denying his entire being. They oppose him, not by fighting against him, but rather as a person. They are trying to say he must become who they want him to be. They stand in his way, rather than assisting someone who is clearly putting in effort to better themselves and develop.
At the same time when he talks to Shinso, he realizes that Shinso does not have what Deku has been given. That he had people tell him he could be a hero after all this time, first from All Might then by his friends at his school. That does not change the fact though that every obstacle they continually face, they have to prove the right to be themselves. They have to prove themselves as worthy over and over again which results in low self worth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a conflict to be recognized for the person they are, rather than the person that other people want them to be. They have to force others to acknowledge them for the effort they’ve put into their own growth. It’s not enough to simply pursue their dreams, they also have to be seen.
Otherwise, those words will continue to deny them, everything they are, everything they want. Shigaraki faces a similiar conflict with every villain he ends up facing against. He is continually told just like Deku, that he is an empty person not capable of becoming anything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are two characters who are repeatedly told they are nothing, that they are capable of nothing, that they have accomplished nothing, and that they will become nothing. Yet, we see each of them struggling to become someone, and not only that but to be able to dictate who they want to be.
They share the same fundamental conflict, to be recognized as an individual in a society that is unequal, unfair, and constantly calls upon them to prove themselves rather than lending them any assistance. For Shigaraki the struggle to define himself is especially pronounced, because rather than All Might who encourages Deku not to copy him, All For One only cares about Shigaraki as becoming a second version of him and has influenced him not to be his own person but rather All For One’s substitute.
3. Shigaraki and Deku Both Save Others
Deku’s one goal, his one motivation other than proving himself is “Saving other people.” He sees far more value in the people around him than he ever does in himself.
Shigaraki may be a villain still, but he is not necessarily Deku’s direct antagonist anymore. One, the antagonist shifts every single arc with the overarching conflict behind the scenes being the conflict that All for One and All Might left behind by the scenes. However, Deku may have chose to become a hero, but Shigaraki does not necessarily choose to become Deku’s direct antagonist.
Shigaraki may spend the rest of the manga as a villain, but a villain is not an antagonist. An antagonist is just a character that directly opposes the main character, they can even be a hero (in the case of Light and L). My point is, Shigaraki has his own separate storyline from Deku, and he’s not even interacted with him that much, only one conversation, and the raid on UA.
Shigaraki has stepped away from the role of the antagonist, and yet he still mirrors Deku’s actions. The both of them are central characters that save the people around them, by telling them it is alright for them to be themselves. They give the others around them a place to belong. This is what Deku tells to Todoroki in the school festival, that he is his own person and that his quirk belongs to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deku opposes people who tell others what he was told in life, that he was destined to never become a hero because he was quirkless. He wants to be what All Might was for him, someone who can tell others that they can be who they want. He desires to be someone who tells others the words they desire to hear.
He does this for Todoroki, he wants to do this for Shinso because he recognizes his past self, he even does this for Eri when he tries to shake her free by Chisaki’s words by calling her quirk beautiful. Every time Deku has a meaningful interaction for saving one of his friends, he helps them by telling them they can become the hero they want to be. As that is his central conflict at heart as well.
Shigaraki is the same, as a character his priorities have shifted from someone who was just lashing out in an empty fashion, to supporting the other people around him. Shigaraki’s first three attempts at being a villain end in failure. His attack at UA Fails, he cannot defeat Stain and even loses a publicity contest to him, and then the camp raid and kidnapping end with Shigaraki losing All For One.
After that we see the first time that Shigaraki is succesful when he decides to fight against Chisaki. The reason he fights again Chisaki, is because of Magne. Magne’s desire was to be free to be whoever they wanted to be and live the way they wanted to live, and she found that within the league of villains. Not only does Chisaki kill her, but he also denies her true gender, the person she is. He denies the identity of the lady he killed, even after her death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shigaraki not only reaffirms Magne’s identity, but even goes so far as to plot this revenge and destroy Chisaki for Magne’s sake, and for the sake of everyone around him. Because, Chisaki was standing in the way of the people they wanted to become, as long as he opposed them he needed to be destroyed.
Shigaraki saves an entirely different kind of person than Deku does. He saves those with nowhere to belong, the bad, the dangerous, the non-virtuous, the ones who would never be saved by the heroes. He gives them a place to belong, and values them.
Tumblr media
Not just as disposable subordinates that worship him the same way that All For One did, but rather as friends and equals. They are all together, because they are all whack jobs who do not belong anywhere else. Shigaraki says over and over again, not “me” but rather “we” will become the next ones, even when he defeats Chisaki.
Tumblr media
Twice, who was let down by society over and over again until he had nobody left but himself and even betrayed himself in the end, is able to find himself again because of the friends he made in the league of villains.
Tumblr media
Pecko the Gecko, I mean Spinner is someone who became a Neet because the bullying from his quirk was so bad and he thought himself a worthless person capable of nothing, but Spinner began to accept himself when he realized that even someone as worthless as him could still support Shigaraki.
Tumblr media
Himiko is told over and over again by the media lady that her story is tragic, and that she should just become some suffering princess, and martyr for quirk kind because she was always destined to be an outcast born with a quirk like hers, and finding the league made Himiko happy because she found a group of people she could be normal around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even when other members of the league, or Giran himself insist that nobody is going to try to come to save him, we see no hesitation in Shigaraki whatsoever to make a plan into this life or death situation and obvious trap to save Giran.
Tumblr media
Due to meeting Shigaraki, all of these people are on the way to being able to accept themselves. They are making efforts to improve, and we see all of their quirks improve as well, as “quirks are directly linked with personality.” They start to grow because they’ve been told the words that All Might told Deku, that it was okay to be them.
When fighting against the UA Kids, or trying to inherit All For One’s role, Shigaraki always fails. However, when he fights against other villains, and when he fights for connections with the League around him he succeeds. As this is the person that Shigaraki is meant to be. Someone who “Holds his family close.” It was the person he was meant to become if not for All For One’s interruption.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki and Deku are co-protagonists who both develop around the same central conflict, not only that but they tell other people that it’s okay to be themselves while also struggling to realize their full selves.
The only difference is the sphere of society they interact with. They are both fighting a fundamentally unfair society, but Deku is on the light side, and Shigaraki is on the dark. Deku saves heroes and virtuous people. While Shigaraki is a person who can save villains on the absolute bottom who fall through the cracks.
Shigaraki is the hand which can catch those who have fallen so far even All Might could not save them. He’s also the hand that destroys the unfair society that let them fall in the first place. So once again, are those hands of his really only capable of destruction?

BNHA Rewatch: Episode 61 “Deku vs Kacchan Part 2″
 mysterylover123
O.T.P.
Tumblr media
This is gonna get kinda emotional.
Tumblr media
Deku is turning Kacchan’s fight proposal down. Dammit Deku! He’s being serious!
Tumblr media
Hoo boy that Kacchan face. No light in his eyes. That realization, just…just bleeding through…hoo boy.
Tumblr media
“If the way you admired him was correct, does that mean my way of thinking was wrong?” OMG ITS HAPPENING. HE’S REALIZING IT YA’LL.
Tumblr media
The flashbacks to bb Deku and Kacchan the feels.
Tumblr media
The white void, it’s just the two of them.
Tumblr media
That Deku line from the first episode. I’m transported right back, ya’ll. It’s that first love again, that same feeling I had when I first discovered this series all the way back in summer of last year.
Tumblr media
So Deku starts by thinking too hard about what’s going on and immediately gets blasted.
Tumblr media
“You think too much” hoo boy recently Mother’s Basement posted the analysis of this fight and pointed out that this is actually a flaw of Deku’s that he can learn to remedy by adopting some of Kacchan’s impulsiveness. Never has the phrase “you complete me” been more accurate.
Tumblr media
This freaking animation. It’s so beautiful. OMG.
Tumblr media
“Wait for me” OH MAN BB DEKU BB KACCHAN RUNNING I’M DEAD I AM DYING
Tumblr media
Cause he loves ya you dope.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cute overload
Tumblr media
WHY WHY WHY hoo boy Kacchan flashbacks.
Tumblr media
Dat little trip oh man. He’s so bummed Deku doesn’t wanna fight and Deku’s little kick actually knocked him down.
Tumblr media
Ooh boy. Here it comes. The music went out
Tumblr media
Hold his freaking hand some day dammit
Tumblr media
Oh god I can’t watch this again I can’t I can’t
Tumblr media
“why is to you became strong…while I - “ OH GOD HERE IT COMES HERE IT COMES
Tumblr media
OH GOD. Slow clap. Okamoto and Chapin both deserve freaking awards for that performance. I mean holy shit. That voice acting. Those cracks. That hit. It makes me cry. I’m tearing up right now. Cause you see, this whole episode, it really rests on the ability of Bakugou’s Seiyuu and VA to pour everything into the performance. It’s not going to hit without both of them giving the vocal acting performance of a lifetime, and they both knocked it out of the freaking park. I actually love them both as his voice; I don’t have a preference for dub over sub, as regards their performances (not the dialogue translations), because both are incredible. Just. Slow clap. All of the awards, please.
Tumblr media
Look at how Deku looks at him. He’s the best. He just…he cares, so much. I mean, you’d admittedly have to be a pretty heartless bastard not to feel a little compassionate after hearing that speech but still. Kacchan’s so fucking lucky he has Deku and he doesn’t even know it. I want one too.
Tumblr media
He’s crying. Me too.
Tumblr media
Kacchan no Kacchan no nononononono
Tumblr media
Oh god Deku you beautiful darling
Tumblr media
“may not be any meaning” I DISAGREE THIS IS THE CULMINATION OF AN ENTIRE SERIES’ WORTH OF 100+ SYMBOLIC CHAPTERS DETAILING YOUR GROWTH FROM ANGRY YELLING RIVALS TO RIVALS WHO SUPPORT EACH OTHER DAMMIT IT’S EVERYTHING
Tumblr media
“May not be any meaning in winning or losing” lol are you just saying that in hindsight, Future Deku, cause you know you lost?
Tumblr media
Deku didn’t have to do this. He didn’t have to fight Kacchan or even let him know the truth.
Tumblr media
And note, he didn’t accept until he realized there was someone he could save. Someone who needs saving, to be helped. And this is how to help him.
Tumblr media
“The only one who can accept his feelings is me.” Ya’ll heard that haters? Say it a little louder for the people in the back, Deku. He’s got his heart.
Tumblr media
And look who’s smiling again, eyes lighting up again, the minute Deku started fighting back?
Tumblr media
“I couldn’t just completely reject him” Guess who also sad that about their fiery spiky blond spouse in BNHA? Kacchan’s dad in that omake about their marriage.
Tumblr media
Their relationship was wrong, but now it’s right.
Tumblr media
They never talked about how they really felt. Communication is the cornerstone of a healthy relationship, folks. Go on. Talk about your feels. Your real feelings.
Tumblr media
Of that was one hell of a hit.
Tumblr media
That speedy recovery though. Deku is fast.
Tumblr media
Oh wow Kacchan hit it too
Tumblr media
That smile. That smile OMG that is THE HOTTEST, by far, that Deku has ever looked in animation. And I don’t say that lightly.
Tumblr media
The translation here is either “I’ve” or “you’ve” gotten stronger. Both fit fine, which is the crazy part. Deku could be either saying that he himself has improved, or complimenting Bakugou, which does admittedly make more sense with what he was saying before, while ‘I’ve’ fits his cocky grin here better. I want him to flash a cocky grin more. It suits him. (BTW The English Dub compromises between the two and says’ we’ve both’.
Tumblr media
Katsuki assumes Deku has a plan. Always overestimating him.
Tumblr media
“That’s what I hate about you” OMG HE FINALLY TELLS HIM HOW HE FEELS. “I can never tell what you’re thinking” Because ya know he’s so good at understanding how everyone else thinks and feels.
Tumblr media
He’s always being mean to Deku. Deku has seen him at his very worst and yet still admires him. Maybe that’s scary, you know? Unconditional love is…kinda terrifying. But so, so beautiful. So he has to rationalize it that Deku is just looking down on him.
Tumblr media
Wow Deku sure took you long enough! He’s been saying that since day 1!
Tumblr media
“I wouldn’t want anything to do with them anymore” Deku there you go being empathetic and wonderful and perfect again. So understanding you darling, darling boy.
Tumblr media
“Along with the parts I hated about you, I saw all the amazing things you could do.” THAT’S ADMIRATION, FOLKS. ADMIRATION WITHOUT IDOLIZATION. Without hero-worship. Acknowledging the good and the bad. Seeing a person for who they really are and always, always seeing the best of them, even at their worst.
Tumblr media
“MUCH CLOSER TO ME THAN ALL MIGHT” Do you hear him guys? The closest person to him, closer than All Might. Closer than his freaking #1 favorite hero. The dub version has “actually in my life”, which isn’t a bad idea either. Both are true. That is so powerful. The person who
Tumblr media
Oh yeah and again how does Deku advance in power? How does he Go Beyond? KACCHAN. Full cowling, he found from him. OFA itself, he gained by saving him. And 8%.
Tumblr media
THAT SMILE. “I thought you were amazing.” He loves you you idiot.
Tumblr media
He kept chasing after him. He’ll never stop. He won’t just give up.
Tumblr media
He passed him. And Bakugo looks happy. Possibly because he wants Deku to do better. Possibly because it seems to be confirming his might-makes-right theory. Possibly both.
Tumblr media
ANIMATION-GASM AGAIN.
Tumblr media
AHAHAHAHAHAH ITS THAT CUT ITS THAT CUT DEKU’S DANCING FEET
Tumblr media
THE VOID AROUND THEM IT’S JUST YOU AND ME
Tumblr media
AND THE BLOCK OMG THIS IS BEAUTIFUL THIS IS THE MOST FREAKING BEAUTIFUL ANIMATION IVE EVER SEEN
Tumblr media
I’m serious. They brought out all the stops for this one. Of course. they knew, they had to know, that this was it. The animation, too, had to be perfect, or else it wasn’t gonna come across. And it is. Even better, in my opinion, than the animation in the stuff that came before it. Bones you are incredible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Higher gear. Can anyone doubt that Katsuki is important to Deku’s journey after this?
Tumblr media
“This is gross, so I can’t say it”.. “I love you?” A reactor I follow actually said that after that line. That’s how intense they are.
Tumblr media
Anyway IMAGE OF VICTORY SPEECH. The Ep that keeps on giving.
Tumblr media
Kacchan is his image of victory. The other side of him. And he adopts some of his traits.
Tumblr media
“The part of you I hate and yet” How much love can you have for a person when you can somehow still admire the darkest, meanest parts of them? I don’t have a very perfect definition of love but I think that’s probably a big part of it.
Tumblr media
“my image of victory is of you” feels overload. Feels O.D.
Tumblr media
dat crane shot.
Tumblr media
My one disappointment with this episode is that they used the US of Smash OST instead of the Katsuki and Izuku OST for this scene. CMON GUYS. SERIOUSLY. THE KATSUKI AND IZUKU THEME HAD TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN FOR THIS EPISODE AND THIS MOMENT ALONE. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING.
Tumblr media
“I have to beat you” the music the feels omg
Tumblr media
Hahaha psych. Kacchan wins anyway.
Tumblr media
WOOF. Like OK this is in the manga, this positioning, but it’s only for one frame. In the anime it goes on for like, an uncomfortably long time, with the slow panting, and the close-ups on the twisting body parts, and…combined with the fact that all of Deku’s admiring girlfriends in this arc have also landed on top of him in a similar pose, and you can’t blame me for the fact that my mind went into rather…R-rated territory.
Tumblr media
Kacchan’s disappointed. He didn’t want Deku to lose. He wanted Deku to win.
Tumblr media
That breaking  voice again. Don’t make me cry more dammit it’s too late.
Tumblr media
ALL MIGHT! I need an MST3K style All Might commentary-reaction to this entire damn thing. Seriously Hori. If you ever do an extra, please make one that’s a serious of All Might panel reacting to this whole thing. I NEED THAT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finishing each other’s sentences again.
Tumblr media
“It’s too late” IT’S NEVER TOO LATE YOU CYNICAL PORCUPINE.
Tumblr media
This is such a great moment of catharsis. Why Deku indeed? Well, you’re about to learn.
Tumblr media
THAT LINE DELIVERY AGAIN. That Broken voice. Both voice actors are too good.
Tumblr media
Deku’s legs though. WOWSA. A little detail I’ve noticed is that Kacchan has really buff, sexy arms and Deku has really buff, sexy legs. Because those are the body parts they use, while the reverse parts are more average.
Tumblr media
“I’m weak too” You’re making me weak I can’t take it. His voice his voice that fucking voice
Tumblr media
DEKU’S EYES. THEY’RE WELLING.
Tumblr media
HE’S GONNA CRY TOO.
Tumblr media
I also need an All Might in my life. I kinda blame myself all the time for things outside of my control. Deku AND Kacchan both blamed themselves for what happened. For All Might’s end. And neither one was really responsible, but they’re just like that. I relate, painfully, to both of them. I have a Deku side and a Bakugo side - deep down, I think we all do. Maybe one more than the other, but that’s what you get when you create two characters who initially act as kind of…distilled embodiments of two sides of the super-hero coin. One all super with no hero, the other all hero with no super - at least, at the beginning.
Tumblr media
THAT PIANO MUSIC IT SOUNDS FAMILIAR. IT’S ALL MIGHT’S FREAKING THEME YA’LL!
Tumblr media
Ooh boy All Might’s BKDK Speech! Both of their teachers ship them, you guys. All Might AND Aizawa both give big, beautiful speeches about their compatibility. In case you somehow missed it.
Tumblr media
Being fixated on victory like you, young Bakugou…and wanting to save those in trouble, like you, young Midoriya…both of those feelings are necessary.” “You guys are perfect for each other”, says the reactor I mentioned earlier (who isn’t even a hardcore BKDK shipper, mind you, it’s just that it’s that obvious.) And it’s true. You need both. They want each other, they need each other, because they have what the other lacks. They complete each other.
Tumblr media
This is the shonen rival equivalent of having the couple in a rom-com confess at the end of act one instead of act three. It upsets all the cliches and is all the better for it. Though even the most hardcore, dedicated anime rivals, I don’t think have ever gone this married-couple with the ‘mutual respect’ and ‘making each other stronger’ thing.
Tumblr media
WIN AND SAVE SAVE TO WIN. They look each other in the eyes.
Tumblr media
Oh god not that voice again I’m dying. Don’t make me cry again Kacchan.
Tumblr media
“Don’t lose.” SUPPORTIVE KACCHAN I LOVE SUPPORTIVE KACCHAN.
Tumblr media
“I’ll get stronger” CONFIDENT DEKU I LOVE CONFIDENT DEKU.
Tumblr media
“Of the students only you.” ONLY YOU.
Tumblr media
I put this moment really high on my list of Kacchan’s nicest moments, because it means a lot to me and to All Might. All Might acknowledges it. He’s a good secret keeper.
Tumblr media
Oh and Deku thanks him too in the English Dub, BTW. Not the manga but nice dub touch.
Tumblr media
OMG he’s such a Tsundere.
Tumblr media
He told him everything. HE KNOWS. The only one who knows. None of Deku’s other love interests do. And he has no interest in telling them.
Tumblr media
Kacchan asks why he told him. And I’ve got an answer, after obsessively rereading Chapter 11/rewatching Episode 8 a lot: BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU, YOU IDIOT. You were mad at him for lying about his quirk to you. You asked what was going on (loudly). You accused him of lying to you your whole life. So he told you the truth. Because he can lie to his mom, and he can lie to his friends and teachers and the entire freaking world. But he cannot lie to YOU. Because he loves you. Idiot baka.
Tumblr media
Oh and what’s that music playing there? Why does that sound familiar? YOU SAY RUN YOU SAY RUN YOU SAY RUN IT’S BACK. And you know? That’s I think because YSR symbolizes Deku’s heroic inspiration. The inspiration he both takes in and gives to others. And here, he’s both being inspired by Kacchan, and inspiring him at the same  time.
Tumblr media
Now Kacchan is doing the same. “Chosen one” He knows. Deku is better. He’s gotta surpass him.
Tumblr media
LOL THIS IS FUNNY. THEY SURE BICKER LIKE THEY’RE MARRIED.
Tumblr media
This shot composition. Get it? ALL MIGHT’S THE THING BETWEEN ‘EM.
Tumblr media
Oh and this. Yay some character development from Kacchan! Another nice moment of his in this ep. Three times!
Tumblr media
All Might Meta’s a bit about how Kacchan took responsibility and felt bad and does a Mom guilt trip on Dadzawa. They’re getting to be kinda married too now.
Tumblr media
“I went in pretty HARD”. OMG stop it you’re making me think bad things again. Just F*CK already.
Tumblr media
Their first act as a married couple is to clean the house together. OMG domestic fluff.
Tumblr media
And now for the best Post-credits scene ever.
Tumblr media
Wow Uraraka ships it so bad.
Tumblr media
Oh and some Todobaku bonus! Aw I guess Bakugou just turned down his 3some offer.
Tumblr media
Ooh awkward silence.
Tumblr media
YAY! Though they did kinda wreck it by having Deku bring it up instead of Kacchan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOW THEY’RE HEALTHY ENOUGH TO TALK TO EACH OTHER LIKE HUMAN BEINGS.
Tumblr media
Kacchan just praised me. Life is good.
Episode 61 is my favorite episode of my favorite show. I think it’s the best and will never be topped. Feels, left and right. It’s really just perfect. Funny, all 3 of the transcendent, best-of-the-best BNHA eps (This, 49 and 23) are basically just two characters fighting for 20 minutes. Nothing more or less. Yet they’re all so, so good. And this one is…I don’t even know how to put it into words. It’s a phenomenal tour-de-force of acting, visuals, animation, music, and of course, writing, all combining together to be just absolutely unsurpassable. Everything that makes this series good, boiled down to it’s essence. And yes, this did seal the deal for me with BKDK. I liked it before, but this made it a done deal. No going back. And I love it.
BEST GIRL OF THE EP: Uraraka for being so supportive.
RANKER: Top 5 Best Moments of This Episode: (it’s really more like a top 50)
5. Deku’s little Dance number
4. True Rivals at Last
3. True feelings at last
2. The Image of Victory Speech
1. “Why did I become...”

👀👀👀👀 Yes. It certainly was a thing wasn’t it?  👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 In all seriousness this chapter was really difficult for me to bring myself to work on. And it was mostly because (compared to most of my other chapters) this one was really lacking detail. I had a few moments that stood out but figuring out how to smush them together in a cohesive way was hard. With that said, I’m gonna do something I haven’t done much til now. I’m gonna share my original outline for this chapter under the read more.
I might throw in comments between sections/thoughts. I normally post my outline at the bottom of my chapter documents and gradually get rid of bullet points as I get through them. This’ll be the first time I’ve looked at the outline since I completed, so I apologize for the length this might take on lol. That said....
DOJ CHAPTER 20 SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK
Deku’s pov this chapter.
Skip ahead to them at the thing. They’re in Tarasanudo in Kanagawa. Somewhere close to the Tokyo Bay. Last train will leave a bit after 9pm.
I like to preface my outlines with a pov if there’s a change from the previous chapter. Any ones that are continuations (so with chapters 9 & 10 for Deku, and chapters 11-15 for Ochako) don’t really get labelled like this but since it was Ochako for 19 I had to. I knew right away this had to be Izuku that we were hearing from because his thoughts--his perception of Uraraka in the story thus far--have been pretty close to nonexistent. I figured it was about time (especially put into this position) for us to glean an idea of what exactly is going on under that curly hair of his.
The second bullet point is just a point of reference for me so I don’t forget anything 😅 I’ll probably carry it on through my next few chapters too. Again, just so I don’t forget as I go since the setting will be relevant until the festival ends.
We get festival shenanigans maybe just them looking around at things at first. He keeps getting wrapped up in Uraraka. Lingering on whatever she does. Her excitement at the foods, the decorations. The way she sways to the music from each and every stall. Obviously this should be at least a few paragraphs. If not a page.
HAHAHAHA, oh man. So much for that. Deku really went damn wild at the start of this chapter. The whole introduction (before Ochako says the FIRST LINE OF DIALOGUE FOR THE CHAPTER WTF) was 2 pages long on my chapter document. And I remember being shook about it. “This much Deku??? You have this much to say?” It probably would have been less if he didn’t want to retell the whole dang story with the netsuke BUT HE DID WHAT HE DOES I GUESS!!
I also added the okonomiyaki scene pretty sporadically, I didn’t have it in my oultine at all. But I needed an introductory scene into them at the festival before Bakugou and Kirishima showed up. I think it turned out pretty well? I got a lot of questions about my research on that one cause it was so specific! 😅 Truth is I just look up those kinda details as I get to them mid-writing. Makes it take longer but the learning part is really interesting and fun for me!
And then there’s also the hints of them being followed by at least  two of their classmates, working up Uraraka and stemming Deku’s fear. Also added because I needed to segue naturally between the okonomiyaki and cork gun scenes.
Uraraka points to a cork gun stall nearby and says that she wants to play. They don’t fully approach the stand though, Uraraka standing back to look over the prizes to see what she wants to play for. He wonders why she doesn’t just play and figure it out later. She says that she’ll play better if she has something in mind already “don’t question my methods” she hums for a moment and he kinda playfully regards her. Maybe a mild stirring of something.
She surges forward, reaching for one of the cork guns while she holds the yen out for the vendor. “Hey, take the next one over.” Oh god Kacchan’s grabbed the same cork gun and now him and Uraraka are glaring at each other. Kirishima apologizes for the interruption, telling Kacchan that he can just take the next one over. He greets Deku who replies while still watching as Uraraka and Kacchan glare even while he complies to their classmate’s request. Both of them slam their money on the counter. Aaaaand they’re making it a competition. Great.
Thiiiiiiis turned out more of less the same, clearly. 😂 I had a different concept in my head originally of how these games worked there. Ended up digging hard for videos and photos to find out properly. Ended up altering my image to match but it still managed to work out on that front, regardless.
I knew I wanted Kirishima and Bakugou here with them (not only because I love the ship) but it gave them a chance to unwind and relax. Kind of ease off on the tension of them being stuck alone together. Not to mention that I felt it would be really good for cementing the idea of a “something more” kind of pondering in Deku.
Kirishima and Deku talk about what they’ve been up to since getting to the festival. Maybe Deku wonders about the snack that Kirishima has. It looks delicious. Some kinda meat thing. “Where’s the stall?” Kirishima tries to explain but Deku just looks lost. “How ‘bout me and--Bakugou just show you where once they’re finished?”
“That sounds--” Deku’s cut off by a whoop and when he looks back to the stand, they’re both setting the cork guns back down. Uraraka’s reveling in her victory and Kacchan tells her she only got one more point, so she shouldn’t be so excited. She says he’d be just as excited if the scores were reversed. The vendor has to remind them they have prizes to pick.
Kirishima and Deku kind of just ^^; about it. They get whatever the prizes are. Ochako maybe picked something with the idea of giving it to Inko. Kirishima says to Bakugou that he told Deku they’d show him to the stand with the meat skewers.
This got altered a LOT WOW. I think the reason this section changed so much was because I was trying to find a way to make the chapter flow. I left a lot of details out and mostly went big picture because I knew this part of the festival would involve a lot of tiny things that would be a pain to plan out. Lots of minor minutiae that I knew I’d get annoyed if I had to change a lot.
I knew I had to keep Kirishima with MEAT because he’s Kiri (hello it’s listed as one of his fav things even!) and I knew I wanted to have him almost tripped up and saying “Katsuki” just to hammer home where exactly they’re at rn in their interactions.
I extended their interactions together because saying “hey let’s walk around” only to separate them with narry another conversation felt pointless and stilted. That’s why I added the extended convo about the game (I didn’t have it in the outline that she cheated but when I thought about the game and her quirk, it was too fitting to not include!) and also the thing about their internships and things being “too calm” again. Was really trying to hammer home one last “YOU SHOULDN’T FEEL COMFORTABLE” for all you readers lol
They might get stuck together for a bit maybe up through the fireworks. They only realize after the fireworks are through. Uraraka wonders about if maybe there’s something that Deku wants to do now, especially since Bakugou and Kirishima p much vanished.
Deku says something offhandedly. He hadn’t really been pulled toward anything in particular. Maybe they could just walk around, see if they find some of the others. Maybe some kinda casual conversation. Ochako has them stop because she sees a yo-yo fishing game and she really wants a water yo-yo.
As you can see, the fireworks scene (which apparently everyone adores?) was very much not planned LOL. Nor was Bakugou clearly and purposefully ditching them. I don’t really have much in the way of explanations other than it’s what felt right. I considered including a time skip or two during this chapter...but then I realized how silly that would be over such a short time period. So I ended up including the ditching (including Bakugou literally yelled that “Nope!” and it was like “oh okay that’s what we’re doing cool thanks for the memo?”) and then the fireworks was a clear “time is passing while he’s wistful” kind of moment. I think it went over well and segued pretty naturally into this.
Deku just watches, musing to himself over how nice this has been...how nice she looks...she said something about wanting to give the stuffed animal in his grasp to his mom. As a thank you for the yukata. He still can’t believe that Inko never said anything to him about it. But honestly...what would he have said. What would he have done? He’s seen her in it for a while now and he still hasn’t commented about it to her…yeah, okay, he did try twice. Once at school and once with Eri but since then he hasn’t bothered to try again.
Maybe it’s pointless. Maybe the fact that he did try twice was the universe saying that it was dumb and he definitely shouldn’t. That he would make her uncomfortable so don’t bother.
Or maybe it wasn’t about her. Maybe it was the universe scolding him from trying to say it around other people… Embarrassing her around her friends and their former teacher...yeah. Yeah, no. It was definitely that. He needed to say something. She deserved to hear it. He couldn’t tell her about her kimono during that New Years celebration. Shouldn’t he tell her now? Respect both her and his mother’s efforts? Yes. He should definitely say something now.
As you can see....pretty much nothing here changed LOL. I knew this was exactly right but some stuff got clarified and extended, I feel. Made it feel a lot more stream of conscious like as a result of that.
Side note Deku has a big tendency to repeat himself mentally when I write him....idk why this happens but it does lmao.
Uraraka comes back over with her water yo-yo. She says something idk what. But Deku starts to try to say something about her thing. Bringing it up very slowly and awkwardly but before he can explain properly she interrupts him. “Deku-kun, do you hear that?” He goes quiet as he listens. Then……screaming.
Then they hear someone exclaim that it looks like the bonfire is out of control. They look and...that’s not a normal bonfire. Those are blue flames.
LOL “She says something idk what” is such a staple of my outlines I cry. 😂 That and “Idk something else needs to go here figure it out later”
Anyway though another case of extension here. I knew I was gonna have to with “bringing it up slowly and very awkwardly” that’s vague and I had to show that happening so it was bound to be. I actually struggled on whether or not to let him say it. But ultimately it felt dissatisfying to let him say it and not give Uraraka or the readers the chance to dwell on it. It needs a moment to itself. It needs to be a heavy, impactful moment--but the problem is the League reveal was heavier so it would have knocked it away just as much as him not saying it at all.
Obviously my reveal (the last bullet point) changed a lot with how I conveyed it...also Uraraka’s line. But when I was writing it I realized that Uraraka would be more horrified than my outline which, as you can see, is really calm in comparison. But I knew the only way to reveal it all was Dabi blue flames. A staple of the League... But having Deku’s last line was a better ending line.
ANYWAY, sorry that took so long but. There you have it. Deeper thoughts and perspective from the planning of the chapter. I hope this was interesting seeing the difference between my outline, but I apologize if my commentary was at all boring lol
Thanks Kat!! Always happy to talk!!! 💖💖💖💖

Stay, Part 1: Chapter 11
Chapter 11: A Change In Perspective
PART 1—Going Downtown
“Where is he?” Katsuki asked hurriedly.  “Is he okay?  What about Camie?”
Yoyo nodded.  “He’s fine.” He scrolled through his phone. “He’s actually right where I thought he would be.  The Shiketsu girl is there too.  Edgeshot’s agency will be overseeing the infiltration, but I assumed you’d want to go too.  And one or two other students, supervised under Eraserhead, of course.”
“Me!” eight students raised their hands, Izuku one of them, but Eraserhead shook his head.
“Kaminari will be the one going—,” Aizawa started, but was interrupted.
“I’ll go too.” Shinsou said, stepping forward, staring Katsuki straight in the face.  A few students started to protest, but Shinsou said to Katsuki, “Consider this a debt paid.” He paused and then added, “Let’s get Kirishima back.”
“We’re leaving now.” Aizawa said then turned to the rest of the class. “The rest of you are dismissed.”
After a few quick goodbyes, the other students dispersed.  Katsuki wanted to walk over to Izuku, but Yoyo tapped him on the shoulder, whispering in his ear, “Rumor has it you and Broccoli-Head are together now.”  Yoyo winked when Katsuki shot him a confused look.  “I talked to him this morning.  Pretty funny, I thought you would have been the one getting some, not the other way around—,”
Katsuki’s hand sparked up and he yelled,  “YOU CAN’T KEEP A SECRET WORTH A DAMN, CAN YOU, BROCCOLI?!”
“Broccoli?” Izuku asked, peering up from his phone.  Once he saw it was Katsuki, Izuku giggled, and Katsuki let out a small laugh as well, the little flute harmonizing in the deep of Katsuki’s laugh, but quickly, Izuku’s face grew serious.  “Be careful.” he whispered so softly, Katsuki almost didn’t hear it. He walked across the common area over to him, despite Yoyo telling him they needed to leave— “Yeah, like now means now, bitch, let’s move it!”  But Katsuki saw concern written across Izuku’s face and Katsuki couldn’t leave with that being the last look Izuku gave to him.
“You worry too much.” Katsuki told him, lightly pressing his nose into Izuku’s cheek.  A light, citrus tea scent filled his nose and he lightly kissed the freckled face.  “I’ll be okay.  Not like we haven’t taken down plenty of assholes before.”
Izuku nodded, smiling up at him.  “I think that’s the first time you’ve ever said, ‘we,’” Katsuki couldn’t help but smile as well.  And then they kissed passionately.
But the kiss was cut short by Aizawa yanking on Katsuki’s arm. “HE’LL LITERALLY BE GONE FOR A COUPLE DAYS.  HE’S GOING DOWNTOWN, NOT TO EUROPE!  SAY GOODBYE, MIDORIYA!”
“Bye, Kacchan.” Izuku giggled.  “See you when you get back.”
As they started to walk out of the building,  Aizawa’s face twitched in anger upon looking closer at Katsuki’s neck.  “What the fuck is that?”
“What the fuck is what—?!” he asked, but Kaminari’s eyes grew wide from fear and he shook his head.
“Don’t answer, dude.  Don’t even look at him.  Keep walking.”
“Do I have something on my neck?” Katsuki pulled out his phone to open up the camera, but before he could, Shinsou pushed his phone down.
“It’s a bruise, sir.  I, um, hit him.” Shinsou lied.  But then Katsuki understood.  He had a hickey on his neck.  Aizawa wasn’t stupid, but he didn’t say anything else, but Katsuki knew that conversation wasn’t over.

PART 2—Izuku’s Point of View—A Few Moments Ago
---
“Does anyone know where I can find Mr. Aizawa?” Yoyo asked loudly, surprising Izuku, who was looking down at his phone.  Yoyo glanced around the room and locked eyes with Izuku.  Yoyo cocked his head and then waved with his fingers.
“I’m here.” Aizawa said. “You must be the 3rd year Bakugou was talking about.  Yoroinokishi, is it?”  Yoyo nodded. “Good.  Have you found Kirishima?”
“I have!  All good news!” Yoyo told him and the class circled themselves around Yoyo, asking questions all at once.  Izuku wanted to know where Kirishima was too, but stayed a few paces back.  Yoyo was incredibly eccentric, but he was also a bit reckless, but a great fighter, with an amazing quirk.  Sounds like Kacchan…Izuku could feel his heart pounding in his chest, listening to Yoyo say things like, “Now, now, children, one question at a time!”  He was flamboyantly gay, looking both masculine and feminine at the same time, like the two genders merged together perfectly.
He’s just Kacchan’s friend.  It’s really okay.
But you have a crush on one of your friends, too.  His mind reminded him, but he pushed out the thought.  Count to ten.  One…two…three….
“Do you know him, Midoriya?” Iida asked in a hushed voice, interrupting Izuku’s internal dialogue.
“No, but Kacchan does.” Izuku told him.  Do I sound jealous?  He cleared his throat, quickly saying, “They’re going shopping today.”
“Where is Bakugou?” Yoyo said looking through the faces of the students.  “Thought he’d be down here with all of his—actually, does that boy even have any friends?”  Yoyo glanced a knowing look at Izuku through a wide smile.  “I mean, I guess the only thing we can do is wait until the man himself comes down.” Yoyo said loudly.  Was this guy taunting Izuku?  Yoyo cartwheeled his way over to where Izuku was standing.  “You must be Deku.”
“Uh, yeah.” Izuku said shyly, smiling a little.
“Hmmmm.” Yoyo said, looking at him up and down.  “I hear a lot of—well, I was gonna say ‘good’ but sorta?  I’ve heard sorta good things about you.”
“From Kacchan?”
“Who the hell is Kacchan?” Yoyo asked, a little aggressively.
“Oh, um, well—,”
“They have weird names for each other.  It’s a little confusing.” Kaminari said, wrapping an arm around Izuku.  Kaminari pulled down his collar to reveal an intense burn mark on his skin.  “But he doesn’t let anyone call him Kacchan accept Midoriya.”
“How incredibly rude of Bakugou!” Iida said sternly, shifting his gaze from Kaminari to Izuku before shouting at him,  “He’s your boyfriend, that makes you partially responsible for his actions now!”
“What, how is that my fault?” Izuku asked.
Yoyo blinked a few times.  “Boyfriend.  Wait—,” Yoyo started to jump up and down, holding Izuku’s hands, bouncing them with his movements, squealing in between saying,  “You two are together now?  How adorable! I’m so happy for you!” Yoyo stopped suddenly, and pulled Izuku’s hands towards him.  Izuku’s body was pulled towards Yoyo, who pushed back one of Izuku’s curls to expose his neck.  “Hmmm.” Yoyo licked his lips.  “Looks like you’ve already been having some fun.”  Izuku’s brows furrowed in confusion, but Yoyo grinned and whispered, “You have a hickey on your neck.  But don’t worry, you can’t see it underneath your hair.  I just have a knack for seeing the dirty little details.” Katsuki entered the room with Uraraka following closely behind.  As quietly as he had whispered to Izuku, Yoyo shouted, “Now that would take some seriously full-coverage concealer or like an hour of scrubbing with a toothbrush to cover that up!  Like, damn, what’d you do to him?”  Izuku’s eyes fell on Katsuki’s neck and there was a large bite mark, teeth indentations encompassed by a large black and blue bruise.
Fuck.  Izuku’s face went completely red. He could hear his heart beating loudly in his ears.  “I-I didn’t really do anything to him.  Quite the other way around—,”
“Damn, he always seemed to have such top energy.  Or—or!  And hear me out—”  Yoyo paused before quickly saying:
“Not enough top energy.”
He laughed heartily, and walked away from Izuku to the front of the room, asking Aizawa, “Hey, we were just waiting for those two right?”  Izuku looked back at Katsuki, who was peering around the room and when he caught Izuku’s face, he started to walk over, but Izuku, fearing what Aizawa might do to them, stopped him and pointed to Yoyo who told him, “I know where your friend is. And U.A. faculty has given us permission for a rescue operation under the supervision of Eraserhead, of course. What’d’ya say we ditch the date today and go get him?”
---
Izuku watched as they left from the window in the common area.  Katsuki’s hair didn’t so much as flinch against the wind like Yoyo’s did.  Yoyo was certainly beautiful: a slim body with a toned chest and shoulders that shown underneath his cropped, tight black shirt.  His stomach was slender and long—he was about as tall as Shoji—and his eyes were an earthy brown, a color that made him look perpetually excited because they were as dark as his pupils.  He wore makeup too—a thin line of black liner outlined his eyes overtop a smoked, very pigmented copper shadow.  As they walked, Yoyo stretched his arms up, folding them over his head.  His shirt rode up his body slightly and Izuku noticed a golden shimmer against his rich, browned skin which completely contrasted against his whitened hair that flowed with the wind.  There was also a tattoo (or is that a brand?) Izuku couldn’t tell what it said against the side of his torso against his ribcage.
Maybe Izuku was a little jealous.  His brow clenched until the white of Yoyo’s hair disappeared into the car and they drove off.
“Breathe, Deku.” a voice said, making him jump.  It was Uraraka.  “It’s like Aizawa said, they’re going to get Kirishima and come right back.”
“Yeah,” Izuku said, trying to sound enthusiastic, but his voice just cracked.
“He’ll be fine.” Todoroki said, walking up to them.  He placed a hand on Izuku’s shoulder, “Actually, I was going to ask this anyway, but did you want to meet my Mom today?”
Izuku remembered how before the he and Katsuki had gotten into a fight in the study room (Todoroki had come to “save” him and ended up getting in just as much trouble as they did), Todoroki had offered to take Izuku to the hospital where his mother stayed. It was in the locker room, weeks ago, when the other boys were discussing the dance, Todoroki had asked him, “Since we can go home this weekend, would you like to meet her?  I’ve been writing to her all about my experiences here at U.A. and she said she wanted to meet some of my friends.”  Izuku beamed at him.  He had gotten to meet the rest of the Todoroki family and worked under Endeavor at his agency for his work study next to Todoroki and Katsuki.  Despite being a friend to him, there was always a polite distance between the two.  Izuku was really excited when Todoroki had offered for Izuku to meet his mother.  Izuku had hoped the weird gap and bring them closer. Todoroki had knelt down and whispered into Izuku’s ear, “She’s really excited to meet you.”
“If you don’t want to, I understand—,” Todoroki said, snapping Izuku back to the present.
“Oh!  No, no, sorry.  I’d love to meet her.”
Todoroki’s eyes hinted an excited look, but he made no other expressions with his face.  He just said, “Be ready in an hour or so.  I’ll go make sure someone in the faculty knows where we’re going.”
Izuku watched Todoroki as he walked away, his hips swinging a little more fluidly than Katsuki’s did moments ago.  Izuku thanked Uraraka for her kind words and went back to his room.
Izuku sat at his desk, scrolling through his phone, but not really paying attention to what was on it.  He thought about showering, but didn’t really feel like it.  Instead, he took a comb and brushed through the messy curls to look a little more presentable. His mind bounced between events that had taken place in the last 24 hours.  He liked Katsuki, always had, admiring him ever since they were little. Izuku watched when he developed a quirk and his confidence overturned into arrogance.  Even now, he was still as egotistical as ever and to Izuku, that made him a little sexier.
But he was sexy to other people, too.  Jealousy filled him, not intensely at first, but the more those thoughts lingered in his mind, the angrier Izuku became.  It wasn’t so much that other people were looking at Katsuki.  It’s that he had taken an interest in others that concerned Izuku.  He told me he’d give me a month of nothing but his absolute best.  He’ll prove himself.  Trust that. But Katsuki must’ve thought Camie was cute, otherwise he wouldn’t have snuck out to see her.  Izuku wasn’t stupid and knew they’d probably had sex, but his mind raced through the envious thoughts that led him back to Yoyo.
They’re friends.  It’s not that different than you and Todoroki.  But as soon as he thought that he wished he hadn’t.  When Izuku saw Todoroki for the first time, Izuku was a little intimidated—Todoroki was gorgeous and Izuku had serious insecurities at the time.  When the two had slowly started to become friends after the sports festival, Izuku couldn’t help but feel like the girls who giggled in the halls as the two of them walked together, a few of the mustering up the courage to say hello to him.  Izuku felt very privileged to be considered one of his closest friends at U.A., but after their fight with Katsuki in the study room, they hardly spoke to one another. Even during their punishment, little words were spoken.  They had held back during their trainings and Todoroki, despite often walking next to him, they both kept an emotional distance between them.  Still, Todoroki was incredibly handsome, calm and collected, and Izuku’s small crush never really went away.
Still scrolling through his phone, his eyes became heavy.  Without taking his shoes off, he plopped down in the bed, slowly counting to ten, exhaling into a deep sleep.  One…two….three….
A sweet smell filled Izuku’s dreams as he felt an enormous amount heat enter his whole body.  His eyes were closed, but he felt something warm—so hot, this warmth…A hand groped his chest.  A quiet moan escaped from deep within him as he felt a mouth on his passionately kiss him. So hot...ecstasy sent him into an erotic trance.  Izuku felt light fingers tap up his thighs.
“Midoriya, you ready?”
Izuku’s eyes lazily opened. A hard knock at the door woke Izuku from his nap.  It took him a moment to realize where he was.  Izuku wasn’t fully awake until there was another knock, louder this time.  “Midoriya?”
It was Todoroki.
Shit!  “One second!” Izuku said flustered, glancing at his phone to check the time.  Of course he would be early. He gave himself a minute to calm himself before opening the door.
Izuku was still a little excited from the dream and nervously swallowed as Todoroki told him, “I told you to be ready to go.”  His voice was raspy and truthfully a bit cold.  There was an assertive presence in those words that sliced through Izuku.
Almost instantly, Izuku was brought back to his conversation with Yoyo, when he referred to Katsuki as being a bottom: “He always seemed to have such top energy.  Or-or—not enough top energy.” Izuku laughed apprehensively at the time, but he grew more anxious in this moment.  Izuku could see the way he interacted with Yoyo and had known him long enough to know there may be some attraction there.  You didn’t even know how Kacchan felt about you.  How would you know how he feels about someone else?  And he’s on a rescue mission, get it together!  And Katsuki wasn’t really a bottom, was he?  Katsuki said he would top when they actually had sex.
But Todoroki, the way he stood, the way he spoke.  It was so commanding, so direct.  There would be no struggle for who would dominate over who between the two of them.  It was already decided.
And Izuku kind of liked that.
He bit his lower lip and told Todoroki, “Yeah, sorry about that. I-I fell asleep.”
A hint of concern glinted in Todoroki’s duo-chromed eyes, but again, nothing in his face to indicate that whatsoever.  “I can just go this time and you can catch up on sleep if you need it—,”
Another nervous laugh escaped Izuku, “No, no!  I want to go.  You’re just early, so it caught me off guard.  Let me change and I’ll meet you downstairs.” Todoroki looked at his phone, a hint of frustration this time.  “I’ll be quick!”
He closed the door and exhaled, realizing he hadn’t really breathed that whole conversation.  Why was his heart beating so fast?  Izuku closed his eyes and counted to ten.  One….two….three….He pushed himself off the door and changed quickly.  He pushed away all those thoughts that invaded his mind earlier and made his way downstairs.
“Damn, Midoriya, you lookin’ like a whole snack—,” Mina said from across the room. Izuku blushed, looking away, but smiling a little.  He’d grabbed one of the nicer shirts he owned: it buttoned up and he loosely tucked it away into a darker jean that hugged his legs snugly.
“You do look good.” Todoroki said from behind him, making Izuku jump.  He wasn’t looking at Izuku, his eyes remaining forwards.  He gently pushed Izuku forwards, saying, “Let’s go.”
Todoroki wore a buttoned, collared shirt (his was blue, brightly bringing out the lightness in his one eye and making the gray one look darker) underneath a dark vest. Izuku made a Mhmm sound and whispered, “You look good too, Todoroki.”
As he followed Todoroki out of the dorm, he could have sworn he saw a hint of a smile on Todoroki’s lips.
---
PART 3—Frustrated Feelings
Todoroki had purchased an extra first-class ticket for Izuku, explaining to him, “I figured it would give us a little privacy.”
Privacy?  Todoroki led him to the front of the train, which didn’t look much fancier from the outside.  It was taller than the bullet trains Izuku was used to riding and Todoroki had to almost jump up to get onto it.  It was an older train, but it made sense, since they were going into an older part of town.  He turned around and a hand extended out for Izuku to take, while his free hand grabbed onto one of the pillars that he had used to climb onto the train himself.  A breeze tousled through their hair, moving with the wind small whispers against the side of the train.  The white side of Todoroki’s hair brushed against his angular face, some strands touching the scar.  Without thinking, Izuku reached out, his hand clammy, but Todoroki wrapped his light but strong fingers one at a time around Izuku’s hand and pulled him up quickly.  Their bodies snapped together, the outside of their forearms touching each other’s chests. They were so close.  Izuku could feel heat of Todoroki’s sweet breath, feel softness of his hair carelessly dance across his face.
Izuku quickly looked away and Todoroki guided his hand to the pillar he was holding.  Izuku took it, holding himself up from where his knees had partially buckled from underneath of him.
“The train will leave in 5 minutes.  Please board if you haven’t already.” an automatic voice over the intercom said.
“We need to go.  We’re on the other side of the car and it’s a longer walk than it looks.”
“Yeah, sure.” Izuku said, trying not to blush through those words.
Once inside, Izuku could see what Todoroki meant—it was certainly longer on the inside.  White tablecloths lined up against the windows as people sat around them, sipping wine, talking to one another in soft, hushed voices.
“Ah, the Young Todoroki!” said a man with a loud, booming voice.  Todoroki stopped and looked over at the man, and bowed respectfully. Izuku followed suit, but the man just beamed, “No need for such formalities, my boy!  Taking a train into the city, are we?”
“Yes, sir.” Todoroki said, lifting his head.  “My friend and I are going to see family.”
“Of course! Give your father my best, would you?”
“Yes, sir. If you’ll excuse us.” As Todoroki made his way through the car, there were instances where some would bow to him, other held up their wine glasses, but no one really said more than a few words.  They walked down to the other side of the car where he slid a door open to reveal a small flight of stairs that circled up to the next floor of the train.  Todoroki held up their tickets to an attendant who bowed to them, but watched as they climbed up to the level of the car.  It was large inside, but boxed in.  There were a couple windows next to a few tables, wrapped in the same garb as the ones down below them.
“Can I get you and your friend any refreshments?” a voice said.  It was the same attendant who was downstairs.
Before Izuku could refuse her, Todoroki said in a commanding voice, “No.  Leave us.”  The woman bowed and slid the doors shut.
They would be alone the whole train ride over.  One…two…three…

Destiny? Chapter Nine: Where To
Author's Note:
Thank you so much for giving this work a read! Quick disclaimer, for all intents and purposes MHA/BNHA are not mine they do not belong to me. The manga and anime have inspired me to write this fiction and dialogue as well as events are given credit to the beautiful people who have blessed us with this series. Aside from standard story line events this work is mine. Don't forget to comment and heart! This story references events from previous chapters, if something does not make sense, feel free to reread from the beginning. I want this work to be as canon as possible! I want to give my readers a heads up that the next semester is coming up and I will probably have to pull back on the frequency that I post new chapters. There's also another story that I have in the works so be on the look out for that!
Please note that
*abc* is a sound effect
'abc' is internal thoughts of whomever
"abc" is dialogue
(abc) is a side note from yours truly ;)
~Love, DragonHearte
I'm sitting down at my desk waiting for homeroom to start after our impromptu three day weekend, hearing the various conversations going on around me from my fellow classmates, but not really listening to anything that they're saying specifically. Suddenly, Ida runs from his seat to the front of the room and exclaims, "Everyone, homeroom is about to start! Stop talking and get to your seats!" I look around the room and chuckle, 'The only one out of their seat right now is you Ida.'
As if he heard my thoughts Sero says, "Dude, you're literally the only one standing up..."
Ida zooms to his desk just as the door to the classroom slides open to reveal, Mr. Aizawa, face covered in bandages with small holes for his eyes and both of his arms in slings walking into the room.
"Mr.Aizawa?!" Myself and my classmates exclaimed.
"You're back way too early, pro-heroes are seriously hardcore." Kaminari says with a fearful look on his face.
Ida stands up while raising his hand and says, "On behalf of my classmates and I, I would like to say, we are glad to see you are doing well."
"Is it really safe to say that he's 'doing well'?" I mutter under my breath. 'I can't believe he showed up to class after all those injuries.'
"My injuries aren't the primary focus here. There's a more pressing matter at hand, because your fight is far from over." Mr. Aizawa says, his voice slightly muffled by the bandages covering his mouth.
"Our fight?" Bakugo questions in a raised tone of voice.
"Don't tell me..." Midoriya starts.
"More Villains?!" Mineta exclaims trembling in his chair.
"No nothing like that, it's the matter of the U.A's Sports Festival coming up soon!" Mr. Aizawa declared.
"That's such a normal school activity!" My classmates and myself shout in relief, at hearing such a mundane event.
“Wait a second, is it a good idea right after a villain attack?” Jirou, a girl with a punk rock type bob asks.
“Well, the idea is to showcase U.A’s capability of crisis management, that the school is safe despite the recent attack. The higher ups are trying to deter any doubt of their competence. That’s exactly why we should. We have to show U.A. can deal with a crisis properly. Also there will be five times the normal security measures in place. Our sports festival is the best chance you’ll get, and it won’t get cancelled over a few villains.”
“Are you sure about that?” Mineta says with worry apparent on his face.
“Mineta have you seriously never seen U.A.’s sports festival before?” Deku turns his head to look in disbelief.
“Of course I have. I didn’t mean that I’ve never seen it before!” Mineta exclaims frantically trying to explain himself.
‘I’ve heard of the U.A. sports festival, but I haven’t actually watched it before…’ I frown at the realization, and then hear Mr. Aizawa continue talking, “The U.A. sports festival is equivalent to what the Olympics used to be in their former glory, as far as Japan is concerned.”
“The top heroes of the nation will be watching right?” Mineta frets over this particular bit of information.
“Yes, they’re acting as scouts.” Yaoyorozu replies.
“They’ll scout us as potential future sidekicks for after we graduate.” Kaminari adds.
“Yeah, but a lot of those sidekicks never go solo. They’re stuck as sidekicks forever, you’ll probably be one of them you dunce.” Jirou retorts.
“Getting picked by a big-name hero means an important boost in popularity, you’ll also acquire valuable experience. Your time is limited so making an impression now will help pave the way towards your futures as heroes. This is an annual event, so overall you’ve got three shots, make them count.”
Modern Lit is over and everyone’s abuzz about the upcoming sports festival, they’re lingering in the classroom discussing how the results will affect their careers as pros. It’s a completely different energy than the residual worry over the recent villain attack. The excitement is contagious and I feel myself getting a bit giddy as well, ‘I’m actually a bit excited, I wonder how similar the sports festival is to the Olympics…’ I glance at the rest of my classmates that are still conversing with one another and walk over to Ashido, before I can say anything to her, Ashido says, “Uraraka, what’s up you look a bit different?”
Mineta looks over at Uraraka who has a manic expression on her face, brows drawn together, mouth spread into a too-wide smile and eyes touched with a tad too much determination. “Is she on her-” Mineta doesn’t get the rest of his sentence out before Tsuyu slaps him across the face with her abnormally long tongue.
“Just to let everyone know, I’m gonna frickin’ crush this!” Uraraka exclaims with an enthusiastic fist pump into the air.
“I’m sure you will, I’m just a bit worried about your rapid change in demeanor...” Kirishima says  muttering the second-half of his statement to himself with a less enthusiastic fist pump.
I chuckle and widen my eyes at the slight rumble from my stomach. ‘Okay, okay…’ I think as I walk out the door of the classroom.
I have already been eating for a few minutes by myself before Kirishima places his tray of food down next to me. I look up and smile when I see the other members of our group approaching the table as well. Kaminari and Sero are already engrossed in a conversation when they arrive at the table, sitting across from Kirishima and me. Ashido skips over to the table, a smile on her face and plops down next to me.
“I’m glad we got the chance to hang out on Friday.” Ashido says.
“Yeah, I am too.” I reply.
Kirishima pipes up and says, “I saw the pictures you posted on social media, Ashido, they were nice.”
I turn my head and give Ashido a questioning look. She smiles at me while pulling out her phone and showing me the post. I laugh when she swipes to view the silly picture we took, the whipped cream, white and fluffy, above my lips. “Can you tag me?” I ask and then she nods, and edits the photo for me to insert my social media handle into. The conversation continues and has a light-hearted feel to it, everyone else has shared what they did on friday for their break when Kirishima asks Bakugo, “Hey man, what did you do for your day off?”
Bakugo huffs, and says, “I trained, and did homework, obviously I’m not gonna slack off just because we don’t have school.” as he says this, his eyes flit to mine in a side-glare and I feel my eye twitch at the slight jab and the slight pulse of warmth at my hip, but before I can say anything Ashido wraps an arm around me squeezing me gently and says, “Well, some of us need a bit R&R after something like that.” I mirror her actions and add, “Some of us need a break from the same mundane routine everyday.” I feel a moment of triumph when his expression sours, ‘Do you feel it too?’ I think to myself, of the fading warmth at my hip.
I’ve just sat down at the table after throwing my garbage away and putting my tray on the designated cleaning station when the bell rings, signaling the end of the lunch period. The remainder of the day passes by without much excitement, ‘Honestly I think even after that day off I’m still feeling a bit out of sorts. Hopefully this uneasy feeling will fade with a few more days of routine training.’ I think to myself as I pack up my backpack to head home after the last period of the day. On my way towards the entrance of the school I spot Ashido and Kirishima, I jog up to them and ask, “Hey, mind if I walk with you guys?”
Kirishima turns to me his sharp pearly whites on display with his ever-present smile and says, “Nope.”
“Good” I reply and we walk together Kirishima talking about how pumped he is for the sports festival and Ashido joining in with her expressive gestures. After walking together for a couple of minutes Kirishima starts to slow his pace and says, “This is where I head off, I’ll see you tomorrow.” he gives a short wave as he turns and walks away. Ashido and I continue walking and talking the rest of the way until we both start to slow down, “You already know that I have to go home this way.” I motion down the street in the direction of my apartment with a slight chuckle and start walking away when Ashido shouts, “Hey, is it okay if I add you to the group chat?”
I stop, turn around and answer back, “Sure I don’t see why not. Bye Ashido!”
“Bye Evangeline!” She exclaims waving her arms in parting, I turn back around and jog the rest of the way to the apartment, wanting to get my homework done quickly.
I open the door to the apartment taking my shoes off and pad into my room, and drop my backpack on the floor next to my desk. I take off my uniform, changing into something more casual and putting the uniform into the hamper. I unlock my phone and see that I’ve gotten quite a number of notifications. I check my messages and see that Max texted me, I look at that one first.
Max: “So… I’m going out with some of my coworkers tonight, they’re complaining that I don’t hang out with them enough. There’s some cash, in the usual spot behind the knife rack, that you can use to order out”
I quickly type out my response,
Me: “Okay, thank you and enjoy!”
I open up the other message and see Ashido’s number listed among other unknown ones. ‘Must be the group chat.’ there’s a barrage of messages popping up on the screen I put my phone down and take out my homework for the day. It’s taking me a bit longer than usual because my phone notifications keep alerting me of another text message, the first time it’s from Max in response to my previous message. However, the rest are all from the group chat. ‘I don’t want to turn the ringer off, because Max might need to get a hold of me, but I can’t figure out a way to stop the incessant noises coming from my phone.’ After a few minutes of this continued internal struggle I decide, ‘You know what?! I’ll just put it on vibrate! It’ll be less distracting, and I can still be available in case Max wants to contact me.’ my homework attempts are going much better now. Yes, there is the constant vibration of my phone, but a quick glance at the screen showing the group chat and not Max lets me resume my studies in some semblance of peace. I finally finish my homework and walk into the kitchen moving the knife rack, removing the cash, and put my jacket on, and grab my house key. ‘I saw a ramen shop on my way to school the other day. Maybe someone in the group chat knows of a good one.’ I open up the chat and type out my question.
Me: “Hey, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good ramen shop near the school?”
Ashido: “I’m not sure exactly which one to recommend , maybe someone else knows. Oh, can everyone introduce themselves before texting real quick, so that Evangeline can know who you are.”
0XX-XXX-XXXX: “This is Kirishima I like the one we passed by while we were walking this afternoon, before I turned off.”
0X-XXXX-XXXX: “Sero here, um I think I know which one you’re talking about it should be called The Ramen Shop…”
(I made the shop name up if there is an actual ramen shop that’s named this, it’s merely a coincidence.)
0X-XXXX-XXXX: “Sup, this is Kaminari, there’s a place I know called Cup o’ Noods, it’s really good too.”
I quickly add the unknown numbers to my contact list. There was one more unknown number that was not claimed, ‘That must be Bakugo’s number…’ I go back to the group chat and view the new messages.
Sero: “Kaminari, seriously dude?”
Kirishima: “Kaminari that’s not very manly...😤”
Kaminari: “It’s a legit ramen shop I swear!”
Ashido: “Mhmm. Yeah, right. Anyways, I hope we were of some help Evangeline.”
Me: “Yep, thanks see you guys tomorrow.”
I close the chat and put my shoes on before walking out the door, locking it behind me. The air has a bit of a chill to it as I leave the stairwell of the apartment complex. Walking at a brisk pace taking the familiar path towards school. I slow down as I come to the intersection where Kirishima had branched off. ‘The Ramen Shop should be somewhere near here.’ I sniff the air, a delicious aroma meeting my nose and I search for the source. I read the shop name listed above the door, “The Ramen Shop” and hurry to the door. Smiling to myself at having found my destination I open the door and walk in, the cozy atmosphere enveloping me immediately. I breathe in all the different aromas and feel my mouth water. ‘It smells so good, I can’t wait to see if it tastes as good as it smells.’ Looking around I notice the shop is basically full except for a sparse peppering of empty chairs at the counter. I look up at the menu, the vast variety of options listed above me, and then walk up to the counter give them my order, and pay. I sit down in one of the unoccupied chairs and scroll through my social media while waiting for my order to be ready.
The man from behind the counter calls my name and I stand up, getting my ramen and sitting down at my chosen booth. I take a quick picture and send it to the group chat.
Me: “I found the place. Thank you!”
Kirishima: “Damn, that looks so good. I’m a bit jealous.”
Sero: “Same man.”
Kaminari: “🤤”
I put my phone down and dig in, the food does not disappoint. The hot moist noodles contrast with the slightly crisp vegetable slices all in a savory broth that takes me away and before I know it I have a clean bowl. By the time I finish I have a clean bowl and a stomach that feels as though it’s about to burst but it’s all worth it. I scooch out of the booth and make my way back home. The warmth from my meal keeps me toasty the whole way to the apartment. I unlock the door and slip my shoes off. I walk to the shelf that has the rainy day jar and put the change from tonight inside.
After a quick shower and changing into pajamas I nestle into the covers tired from the excitement of today.

Note
the whole a-z NSFW for Izuku Midorya please?
I’ve gotten this request like three times now. So, I had to get it done. Writing this has given me a thirst for Young Midoriya that I thought I never would acquire. Forgive me, Katsuki, I didn’t mean to accidentally fall in love with Deku.
A-Z Izuki Midoriya (Lemony)
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after): He is the sweetest most attentive person ever. He is making sure you’re content. After you’re all settled, he’ll cuddle up with you and hold you tight.
B = Body part (They’re favorite body part as well as their partners): After injuring himself a lot, he actually doesn’t like his body much because of all the scars and marks. He’s a bit embarrassed to show off his body for those reasons.
It’s already proven he’s gotta thing for boobs. But his favorite part on you is your hands. Just because of how smooth and small they are compared to his. It isn’t a dirty thing, he loves to hold your hands in his, or feel your soft touch on him. It’s very comforting.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum):  Izuku really wants you to cum before him. If he’s close and you haven’t orgasmed yet, he’ll focus purely on your pleasure first and then go back to his own.
D = Dirty secret  (Dirty Secret of theirs): Izuku watches porn. It’s not that big of a deal, but to him it is. He will die if anyone, especially finds out. He’ll be so mortified. It’s not just the act of watching, reading it that embarrasses him, it’s the type that he watches. Not only does he not want anyone finding out what he’s into watching, but what he gets off on.
Also, he can get really caught up in the plot and stop wacking off. He’ll pull his pants back up, and enjoy the dialogue if it’s that interesting enough, and he will also rewind certain parts.
And yes, he also sometimes takes notes from what he sees. Because, I 100% believe he’s doing hardcore research on how to properly please you so when it finally comes to it, he’s prepared.
E = Experience (How experienced are they): This broccoli boy went into this with barely a first kiss down. He was a pure, innocent boy before you.
F =  Favorite position (Basically says it in the title): Really likes you on top. He loves you riding him. He can see almost all of you, and if he’s also sitting up, he can just kiss you while you roll your hips into his.
G = Goofy (How serious are they? Do they prefer joking?): This kid is hella nervous during the first handful of times you two were doing it, so he’s stuttering, clumsy and muttering to himself a lot. If you can calm him down, he’s going to be a soft smiley boy. Now, when he’s more confident in himself, he’s casual and sweet. There’s no harm in joking or laughing. He’s joining in on the fun once he makes sure you’re not laughing at him.
H = Hair (Does the carpet match the drapes? Are they groomed?):  It’s a bit messy and unkempt. Only if you don’t make a comment about it. He doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with the bushy mess unless you have a preference.
I = Intimacy (How they are during the moment): He’s clumsy and blushy. He’s blushing the whole time. He will try to hide his face and that usually ends up with him either kissing you or his face in your neck and then he’ll kiss you there. He tries to keep all his attention on you and he makes sure you’re comfortable. All in all, he’s in absolutely love with you and he’s the happiest boy.
J = Jack off (Masturbation headcanon): He’s not an avid masturbator, but he does do it, like above, he usually has some sort of xxx entertainment to help get him to the finish line. He usually does it to help calm his nerves before bed.
K = Kink (One of their kinks): He really has a thing for you dressing up all cutesy. Like in pastel colors, and flowy lace things. You just look so cute to him. Baby doll lingerie is his absolute favorite and biggest turn on.
L = Location (Favorite place): His favorite place is the bedroom. It’s private, safe, comfortable and the most appropriate place.
M = Motivation (What turns them on): Just affection in general. Just love him. I mean, anything you do gets him a blushy mess. But like, if you really show that you put in effort to love him. Like if you dress up special for him, plan a really extravagant date, draw up a bath to share, make a cute playlist to do it to, he’s forever grateful and it turns him on a lot.
N = No (Something they won’t do): Doesn’t want to hurt you. Nothing rough. He’s scared to accidentally hurt you, and also even if you might like it, he doesn’t. He can’t do it.
O = Oral (Giving or receiving): He doesn’t have that big of a preference either way. Although, if you go down on him, he doesn’t last long at all. He just can’t believe you’re willingly doing that to him?? You’re putting his dick in your mouth, and you’re really really great at it and you look so beautiful. He finishes so quickly because he just gets so into it. On the other hand, once he masters his own method of going down on you, and gets confident with it, he’s going to be doing it a lot because he really wants to make sure you feel as great as he does.
P = Pace (Are they fast or slow):He can go whatever speed he or you want(s). He can go faster when you’re begging for it, but when he’s just wanting to love you, he’s going to be more soft and slow.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies): He’s into them. Like the first time you pulled him into the bathroom stall for a quick go, he’s dazed. He’s bewildered. He loves it. He rarely will try to initiate it. He lets you take the lead on those.
R = Risk (Will they be down to experiment in risky locations): It depends on the areas, but yeah. If you’re into it, he’ll be most likely into it as well. He trusts that you’re not trying to purposely get caught when you start seducing him out in the open and leading him to a closet, or a public bathroom. Although, if you two are together while in the dorms, you might be able to convince him to do it on the common floor. In the showers, or the common area on the couches, or on a table in the dining hall. Although, those more risky areas, he doesn’t fully comprehend where he’s at until afterwards. Like you’re so damn irresistible that he doesn’t completely understand that his dick is out and Aizawa, or even another student could just walk into the common area and see you two. It’s not until you two get done or almost get caught that what just happens is there in full consciousness. He’ll lecture you for being so irresponsible but that doesn’t mean you’re not gonna do it again, because it’ll happen a lot. He forgives you pretty quick.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go): This boy can go for however long as you want. He has stamina for DAYS.
T = Toy (Do they own toys and if they do, will they use them): He doesn’t have much knowledge on toys, but will use them if you want to.
U = Unfair (How much will they tease): He is the fairest one in all the land. He gives in without you asking. He doesn’t even have the thought of holding back.
V = Volume (How loud are they if they even are): He cries and whimpers and tells you how good you feel. Although, he’s pretty quiet about it. Just loud enough for you to hear.
W = Wild card (Headcanon of choice): He doesn’t know how hot he can be. Like you turn him on constantly and immensely. He doesn’t think he has the same effect on you. But oh boy, he does. He can be a bit touchy but he doesn’t know that sometimes where he touches, as innocently as it may be, isn’t. Or sometimes he says something that wasn’t supposed to be suggestive at all, but the way it sounds makes it xxx. And he doesn’t know that. 6/10 times he turns you on, he doesn’t know he did or does it on accident.
X = X-Ray (What’s going on down there): He’s got an above average girth size. What he lacks in length, he makes up for in width.
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive): Everything you do can and will give him a boner. So as long as you’re in existence, he is horny af all the time.
Z = ZZZ (How quickly do they fall asleep):He’s one of those people who will scroll on their phone for hours when they’re supposed to be going to sleep. He’ll stay up the whole night if you keep talking to him. Or if you don’t fall asleep or can’t sleep, he’ll be awake with you.
But in general, he falls asleep after you do.
Y’all I’m tired, and might be getting the plague, so I’m a bit out of it. Also, I’m a big drugged up, trying to manage the pain in my right hand/wrist from my carpel tunnel. So if there’s any typos or grammatical errors, I’m sorry.

BNHA, some thoughts on Toga after reading both your recent metas, the representation and female characters ones. Toga getting reduced to fetish fuel by fandom is pretty irritating. It really shortchanges her character, she's interesting. Despite all the murder, she's not written as a true psychopath/sociopath - her emotions are written as genuine, her empathy is written as being real. Her most depraved and her most empathetic moments both occur in the same arc, too (Overhaul's Hideout).
I actually think we can make a pretty good case for Toga being the best written female character in all of Boku no Hero Academia.
There are two other contenders–Inko and Nana–who could probably easily take the spot if not for their extenuating circumstances: Inko simply isn’t in the story enough to be a consistent source of emotional engagement, and we haven’t seen enough of Nana yet to get a real sense of the depth of her character. If Nana gets to be part of an extended series of flashbacks or becomes a vestige that Izuku can talk to, we might get enough of her to bump her to the top.
But right now, I can make a pretty convincing case for Toga.
1) She is the only female character whose actions are absolutely central to the main plot/conflict as it is unfolding right now. In the last 100 chapters, the only female to single-handedly accomplish anything for her side of the conflict has been Toga. You could not remove Toga from the plot and replace her with any of the male characters around her because her quirk and involvement in the story line are actively integrated in a way that none of the other female characters’ are (again, barring Nana). Mina? Jirou? Kendou? Uraraka? Tsuyu? Even Momo? In the last half of the manga’s plot, none of the class 1-A or 1-B girls have played any major part in the series’ overall conflict, had any stand-out moments of emotional depth that wasn’t narrated for them by a male character, or even been allowed to meaningfully contribute to the battles except during training against classmates, the outcomes of which have no lasting impact on the main heroes vs. villains conflict.
That’s because Toga doesn’t suffer from the one thing holding back all the heroines and heroines-in-training: good girls aren’t violent. Good girls are lovable, attractive, and supportive. They’re not ambitious or obsessive about strength and overcoming their rivals like boys are. Good girls behave well. And unfortunately, Horikoshi is pretty progressive in some ways and really, really unprogressive in others. His definition of “good girls” and the ways good girls act seems to be pretty rooted in conservative Japanese standards, which traditionally have undervalued women. (This is not to say that everyone in Japan discriminates against women, far from it; in general, however, societal standards for women in Japan have lagged behind other major developed nations.)
Uraraka and the other girls in 1-A and 1-B can and will become heroes, surely. They can even prove themselves to be very strong and skilled individuals. But they will only rarely–if ever–be allowed to outshine their male compatriots in terms of strength, aggression, impact on the main plot, and even emotional depth. The tension and depth of this story has, so far, been given almost entirely to male characters–Deku, Iida, Bakugou, Todoroki, Shigaraki, Kirishima, even Shinsou… Readers get more glimpses into the mindsets, emotional struggles, and backstories of these characters than any of the girls. Bakugou can literally cry and scream on screen from how angry he is that he doesn’t measure up to his classmates; but Momo, who feels similarly, will demurely have her confidence issues discussed by Todoroki and Aizawa for her.
Toga, however, doesn’t get hit by this stuff quite as bad because she isn’t a “good girl.” Toga can be violent. Toga can be out on the frontlines throwing down directly with the male heroes and can come out on top because she’s a villain and sometimes the villains have to win for the story to be exciting. Toga got away with threatening Shigaraki.Whether Tomura is just telling lies to keep her on his side or not, Toga is canonically referred to as one of the League’s “linchpins.” She’s tangled with the heroes two more times than Dabi, Mr. Compress, Magne, or Spinner, and once more than Twice, making her literally the League’s most active member. Because of her role as a villain, Toga is free from the limitations that prevent the heroines from making any lasting impacts on the plot.
2) Toga’s personal motivations/mindset have direct impacts on the plot. Sure, being a “love obsessed” girl who develops crushes at the drop of the hat isn’t exactly the most fantastic basis for a female character ever–it’s cripplingly stereotypical and a gross excuse to draw faces bordering on ahegao, actually–but at least Toga’s crushes are plot relevant. Her “love” for Izuku and collecting his blood led to her utilizing that blood in combat to directly change the course of what is probably the series’ most important and dramatic battle to date. Unlike Uraraka, whose crush is essentially mandatory due to her role as the love interest and really has no bearing on the major plot, Toga’s “love” for Izuku shapes not only her actions but also the actions of others because she is a mover-and-shaker in the main conflict, unlike other female characters.
Toga’s crush on Stain was what drove her to join the League, despite the fact that Stain is no longer part of it in any way–and she’s remained loyal to the League. Her crush motivated her to take direct action and change the course of her life. Unlike other crush plot lines given to female characters, which are often used only in two contexts: 1) Oh no, I can’t let these feelings affect my friendship with [shounen protagonist]! 2) Ha ha, look how adorable I am trying to hide my crush from everyone!, Toga’s crushes are driving factors in her story and the plot overall.
3) Toga has demonstrated more meaningful emotional depth than half the female students. You’re right–reducing Toga to fanservice badly degrades a character who’s actually been painted with more depth than virtually any other female character (except Inko) in the series so far. In her response to Magne’s death, her comments that she wants to continue enjoying life with the League, her willingness to threaten Shigaraki for making choices for her, and her delicate treatment of Twice, Toga’s feelings–even those beyond her love and friendship obsession–are portrayed seriously and with a degree of attention and agency that few other females in this series get. Toga is loyal, intelligent, dedicated to pursuing her personal goals, empathetic, brave, and strong-willed, and most importantly–these aren’t informed traits. We don’t hear about how smart she is or how nice or how brave she is from other people–we see it in direct action throughout the course of the story. You don’t hold a knife to Shigaraki Tomura’s neck without being both staggeringly courageous and dead-set in your beliefs–Toga has a backbone of steel and a good head on her shoulders. She’s in far more control of herself than anyone is giving her credit for; she knows exactly what she wants and she’s going for that without hesitating. Her response to Twice after Magne’s death not only demonstrates a clear understanding of other people’s feelings, but also signals to the readers how far the League has come in supporting and valuing each other, an important turning point for readers, making her feelings and dialogue more meaningful than many of the other female characters’.
4) Toga’s obsession with identity–and its ties to her quirk–implies a significantly more interesting backstory than most other girls in the series. In a way that doesn’t happen for many other characters outside the villains, Toga’s quirk is directly tied her to mindset and behavior. She is obsessed with seizing the identities of the people she “loves” to actively become those people. It should be obvious that this obsession is a direct off-shoot of her powers. Imagine what life would be like for a child who could literally change identities any time she became dissatisfied with herself. Forming a personal identity is a complex process for human beings (google Erik Erikson’s Eight Stages for a more in-depth look), and it is also a process fraught with peril. Children and young adults who fail to develop healthy, complete self-identities struggle in a variety of ways, not the least of which is mental illness. How would a tiny young girl who was capable of completely altering her physical appearance and attitude, enough so to be easily mistaken for others, define her own personal identity? This is literally a nightmare scenario, ripe for the development of psychological issues. It wouldn’t surprise me to find out the start of Toga’s descent into madness was realizing that, by hurting others, she could become someone better, more popular, with more friends–someone happy. It makes perfect sense that Toga is the way she is now, with the quirk she has. Toga’s desperate love–her desperate desire to be someone else–is almost inevitably going to be tied to a shattered sense of self. This is why the issue of “villain quirks” is so interesting–did Toga ever have a chance to be “normal,” with a quirk that would have devastated the psyche of a growing child?
I don’t know when or if we’ll ever see Toga’s backstory, but just the hints we’ve been given are already enough to make it richer and more interesting to think about that almost any of the other female characters in the series.
Toga is great, and seeing what she gets reduces to by the fans (hell, and her own creator sometimes) seriously bums me out.

“if you’re going to liveblog something at least put it under a cut,” i say to myself
majora’s mask, unfiltered notes from opening screens to entering termina
the opening flybys of MM just... show you the world, and the people in it, living their lives, and Link unobtrusively in the middle of it all
various locations (my favorite is the graveyard with link sitting playing games with the skeleton children) but it always ends with the music souring, growing faint, the darkening sky, the lowering moon
the message is clear: this is a good place, it is in danger
(hidden message: it is not your good place, but that shouldn't make a difference, your heart instinctively goes out to these people who look so familiar)
contrast to the openings of the other games
oot: link is very solitary, a hero riding alone, interspersed with very dramatic scenes of his exciting adventures, it is a story of Destiny and Prophecy and Good Versus Evil
which matches as well with the actual first scene and the mood being set in each
oot: the lonely child, dreaming of horrible things and quaking in fear at his own powerlessness, and the friend who comes to him, navi the fairy, the literal Call To Action on his hero's journey
ww: your peaceful life, your idyll, your complete detachment from and indifference to history and destiny, until your idyll is violated by schemes older than you can imagine
tp: cold open on a soft and melancholy mood, a mature conversation between adults and the responsibilities they bear, emphasizing the humble beauty of life and hard work
mm: an even more intensely somber mood than tp - link riding alone, as he does in the dramatic openings of several different games, but slowly and with head down, plodding along through featureless woods... a heaviness and sadness to the scene, into which the ambush and robbery is jarring not only for the violation of your personal belongings but also for a violation of your quiet and inward mood
i just love that deeply unsettlign opening - the sound of a laugh over a dark screen, the mask rushing over your view, alternating between the heart and the horror, the horror and the heart
(the dark heart, the empty heart)
a game that really grips to the power of ungrounded images against the darkness - the mask salesman, some of the stories being told, Link undergoing his transformations where the whole world falls away and there is only darkness and solitude in this moment of pain
unrelated: i really love how they designed the clocks in mm, not just the big one obviously but the little copies scattered throughout the world! my sister and i once sat and stared at one until we could understand how it is tracking time. i love the colors and all the spinning parts.
actually i love all the textures and colors in mm, it's so much more detailed than oot, and one of the many reasons i haven't replayed it in forever is because i wanted to wait until i could play it via hypatia's high-res mod
okay that's enough sitting on the floor watching the loading screens time to go
at the mere feel of an n64 controller i am rushed back to my gentle youth
aw yeah hold R for shield, that's the stuff
the legend was held "dearly" by the royal familk=y
he crept away
a private journey
a beloved friend
link forsaking his own legends
and then the so-familiar sound  of navi's wings
i'm crying
the mask appearing before skull kid himself, a clue to what is going on and who is wearing whom
and that little glimmer of actual eye underneath (because at this point he can still take it off)
i wonder if the "huh? this guy? ... well, that shouldn't be a problem" was a reference to skull kid recognizing link (from their own youth, playing music together in the forest) or if one of the fairies pointed out the Sword, Shield, Steed heroic combo he's got going on
... okay so the thought of "what happens if the ocarina breaks" has played into MULTIPLE vast epics of loz fanfiction that never saw the light of day off my own personal hard drive
but it's a chilling thought! you are so helpless without it, even more than you are without a sword (because your adventures are based in doing the impossible)
for being a voiceless game it actually has a lot of voices, more than i recall in most other zelda games - everyone emotes a little bit, everyone is recorded
i still remember the first time i played this and realized that you do FLIPS when you jump now AND I HAD NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED
oh hang on gotta run through all the long streamery fairies so that they scatter
it's tradition
SWORD OUT
BUSHES TRIMMED
HYA!
and the ability to press Z to rapidly center the camera behind yourself, something a lot of games should continue to implement
looking at you, enslaved
and... acually everything, yeah, let me put the camera behind myself in a single button
omg skull kid's terrifying head-bobble
and the sound of the deku scrubs ecjoing
the blurred camera
i take it back this is terrifying
... for a zelda game
ON THE OTHER HAND, BECAUSE IT IS A ZELDA GAME, IT IS ONLY -SO- TERRIFYING
BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN TURNED INTO THE CUTEST CREATURE ON EARTH
A LITTLE SHRUBBERY GIJINKA WITH A FUNNY HAT AND A KILT
WHO PIROUETTES ACROSS STILL WATER AND BLOWS BUBBLES AT HIS ENEMIES
my heart!!!
i agree skull kid it is a good look for him
i disagree that he will be here forever
have you met him
he's the hero of time
even as tatl's dialogue is rude and aggressive she sounds (literally) just like navi, her little excited and sad and exploratory noises
(have i ever decided for myself what is inside a fairy's light sphere? no)
(do i think about what must be going on in link's head when tatl says "why are you looking at me like that," the shock and hope and longing)
i really want to know what... place they are in, during this transition, where worlds have been/are being crossed but also someone has taken the time to paint the walls with murals of flowers blooming, and the ceiling with yellow diamonds, and the doors erupting with scarlet flames
UGH I LOVE BEING DEKU LINK WHAT A CUTIE
THE CUTEST MCCUTERSON TO EVER CUTE
(pulling on my tp-link-is-oot-link theory, i can easily read tatl as practice for midna, and how link just... rolls with the punches of the latest selfish bossy violent girl to fall into his life)
n64 zelda sounds ;____;
OH NO THE PETRIFIED STUMP ;___________________;
the worst ;________________________________________;
THE FIRST RESOUNDING SLOW MUSIC OF THE SONG OF HEALING AND THE CLOCKWORKS
FUCK I'M SO GLAD I'M PLAYING THIS AGAIN
remind me to tell y'all about the "song of endings" please
a move they tried again, with greater success, in TP - beginning with your vision very narrow, literally climbing up from the depths of confusion and decay until you are finally high and out and able to see where you are
i like the moss growing on everything too, it's such a nice touch
this is what i'm saying, every square inch of termina is carved and painted, they stacked layers and layers of patterns onto the same polygon shapes they used for oot and it's so neat, i love heavily-textured and decorated worlds
i've spent a few minutes now looking at the symbol painted on the inside of the clock tower door, and i can't parse it - three green shapes in the midst of red curlicues? maybe it's nothing, but if it has a meaning i want to know what it is
(by the way it has become wine o'clock as i type all this up so be warned)
THERE IT IS
YOU'VE MET WITH A TERRIBLE FATE
HAVEN'T YOU
okay yeah it's overplayed now but that line is just. so good.
and tatl immediately hides from him
SO THE THING IS (yeah you can tell i have wine the capslock is staying on) HE SAYS RIGHT OUT THAT HE OWNS THE HAPPY MASK SHOP, AS IN, THE HAPPY MASK SHOP IN HYYRULE CASTLETOWN
DOES HE KNOW YOU??? IS THE HAPPY MASK SHOP TRANSCENDING TIME AND SPACE???
WHAT DO YOU KNOW HAPPY MASK SALESMAN??????
one of the weirdest possible options for them to have picked as a Recurring NPC for these games, what was going on here
(in my head this is... basically garfield the deals warlock as well)
aaaaaaaugh the abrupt jump cuts in this scene are so effectively unsettling
"I can help you," he says, while immediately behind his head, on his pack hands a mask of a screaming human face lest you get too comfortable
i missed everyone having pointy ears in the N64 zelda games! in ww and even tp it's a lot less common, no longer a given. but an integral part of the zelda world to me was always the hylians with their long ears and the gerudo with their round ones, and that transcendentally racist bit of lore that hylians were better able to hear the gods because of their ears.
my heart racing as i stand before the doors
about to enter termina
about to start that clock running
here we go
