Dominic, Harley, Martin

Dominic is very passive in general (there's a joke somewhere), it's not that he wouldn't make the first move, but if MC moves on and says they don't have feelings for him anymore, he'll respect that and find ways to cope. It's ingrained in him: the thought that he can somehow change MC's mind or affect the outcome is 100% foreign to him.

She'd be devastated by it, but Harley would respect MC until the end and long for the moment her feelings would also fade away. What she wants most of all is to be with MC, and if that can't happen in a relationship, she'll take all she can get and be a good friend to them.

Martin is a gentleman: it would hurt him a lot, but he'd definitely give up on the whole situation and acknowledge that MC has moved on & he should too. Unlike Dominic, it's also a matter of insecurity for him. He feels that he lost his chance forever: he somehow made MC like him once, but that 'mistake' won't happen twice, in his mind.

Would try to regain MC's affection:

Demetra, Echo, Evander

As I said, Demetra would immediately activate and retrace all the steps that led to MC liking her. She would be very methodical about it, such as by getting MC the book they said they really wanted to read, watching the movie MC is obsessed with at the moment so they can talk about it, etc.

If she realised her attempts were working, she'd straight-up admit her feelings.

She'd have a blast if MC specifically asked her what she was doing, squinting their eyes at her. "Just trying to get you to like me again.", she'd very shamelessly answer. wink wink

If one could ghost someone irl, that's what Echo would do, at least in the beginning. Again, she'd mostly avoid MC, the thought of trying to regain their affection not even crossing her mind.

However, she would probably either 'slip up' and tell MC about her feelings in the heat of the moment, or decide to tell them to gain closure or get it off her chest. She may avoid MC in the beginning, but at the end of the day, she misses them and longs for their presence.

Once the cat's out the bag, her friends will have definitely succeeded in hyping her up to do this and that to regain MC's affection. After realising her attempts might be actually working (after a lot of convincing on her friends' part) she'd ask them out and confess her feelings...again.

A joint or a few shots beforehand, MC and Echo sitting on the grass, Echo with a paper in hand. She'd either read it out loud or pass it to MC, so they could read it while she'd hide her face in her arms.

And if MC was unhinged enough to read it out loud-

Evander would treat it like a huge joke to save face; but under all the humour, he'd hide his real feelings. He would firstly bring it up under the disguise of a funny one-liner; then go radio silent about it, and never mention it again after realising MC has moved on.

He would still try to regain their affection, though in his own special little way. He'd try to use his trademark jokes and tease MC a lot about everything, even the dumbest things. He would act like a caricature of himself, thinking that's what made MC like them in the first place, so he'd pump the Evanderness up to 100.

If he noticed his attempts to be working, he'd go back to the 'normal' Evander; he'd joke about liking MC and stop annoying them on purpose so much. He still wouldn't do anything too direct though, at most he'd sent 'ironic' pics of him holding a rose with his teeth (he thinks he's hilarious) and ask MC to hang out a lot.

I have a question... So let's say that someone who hasn't written since school but loved to write and has always wanted to write fanfic would suddenly like to try it out? Would you have any tips? Also, should they get a beta reader or just like ask a friend or something to read it and give feedback? Another thing is that they don't have any friends irl that have watched what they have so they wouldn't understand it lmfao.

I don't know if I'm the most qualified, but I definitely have amassed some tips and tricks that at least work for me that I can share!

1) Write what you want to read! I always find that really helps. When I'm engrossed in the story and want to find out what happens next, it motivates me to have to write it.

2) This could contradict the first tip (and may feel like I'm plugging myself since I run it), but I think joining the exchanges (@xfilesfanficexchange) really helps! I feel motivated to write when it's a gift for another person. Sometimes I get prompts that are out of my comfort zone, and I find those experiences help be become a better writer by forcing me to experiment with eras/characters/writing styles that I may otherwise never do (and often times find that I enjoy!)

3) I don't follow this piece of advice and I wish that I did, but have longer works finished before you start posting. The minute I feel like I'm making people wait, I get anxious and usually take longer than anticipated bc now there are people out there I feel like I'll disappoint. Don't let excitement to get your fic out ASAP cloud your judgment (like I do haha).

4) Play around with writing Mulder and Scully. I'm personally attracted to both of them so it's easy for me to write lusting after either haha, but I identify as a woman more with Scully but I feel Mulder's overwhelming self-doubt etc. Learning what aspects of yourself help you relate to different characters by experimenting really helps.

5) I think readers make the best writers personally. I find that I write the best when my head is full of ideas spurred from reading fic/novels/whathaveyou. If I haven't been able to enjoy the writing of others for a while, it's always harder for me to write.

6) Find what mood is best for you. Like what writing-ambiance fuels you? I'm still trying to find mine. I enjoy having shitty reality TV on in the background (or music), I have a summoning circle of beverages around me, I prefer nights, etc. I will say tragically, nothing inspires me to write more than having something else really important that I should be doing instead haha.

7) If you're looking for betas, here's a list of people in the x-files community who are down to beta! (People can add their names to the list at any time).

8) Don't look at numbers! People get really focused on that, and it can get discouraging, but you have a unique perspective and something to say and people want to hear it!

9) It's so fun to jump around in the different eras of the x-files. I personally am a slut for UST, and I find it's easiest for me to write, so I'm always doing S4-7. Some love writing pregnancy, some love the s1 baby agents before the mythology really gets to them, some love dabbling in the cancer angst, etc. If you try writing something and maybe the juices aren't flowing, maybe that's just not an era of the show that is hitting your writing muses.

10) Have fun! This is such a historic, loving community full of support. We want you here!

- @6lilystrings9 IS JUST THE BOMB DOT FUCKIN COM. Lily and I didn’t super duper connect until more recently but omg talking with her is just a freakin BLAST. We always get so hype with each other, even over each other’s fandoms that we aren’t even in!!! Something about the energy in her pulls out the energy in me and we just get GOING lmao. She is so very talented and amazing and a fascinating person all around! I’m so glad we got to hang a bit at KatsuCon in 2017 but I hope we can do that again in the future! I miss her all the time!

- @weirdfairytales is the MAN. THE MYTH. THE LEGEND. Anna is just the biggest definition of a meme I can think of and I LOVE her for it. I’m so glad that we met way back when MikaYuuHell Skype existed and that she thought of the masterpiece that is Cherry Boy one wild night. I’m so glad we continued to be great friends and talk about so many things. I love when our messages get super long cause we just have so many things to say XD Cosplaying Victuuri with her at Katsu was so lit, and I can’t express how much I love her Victuuri fic too!!!

- @hannaadi88 is such. a. sweetheart. I can’t say it enough. Hanna does so much and gets so little I stfg yall need to APPRECIATE HER MORE. Her writing is STUNNING and the projects she makes for this fandom are just outstanding!!! From gift exchanges (I SAID ONS REMIX BEFORE IM SORRY i was wrong XD) to 365 Days of Mika and Yuu, she has put in so much for us constantly! She has also granted us with the lovely fic Scented, and not to mention one of my favorite fics of ALL TIME, Eye of Horus- the Ancient Egypt take on Unwritten!!! And she named it that without knowing my first tattoo is literally the eye of horus! XD I was shook lmfao and I still am. Meeting Hanna was amazing and the day I spent with her and @ihavetobenkyou (who is also a-freaking-MAZING and a big bundle of goodness!!!!!!) is one I’ll never forget. She’s so chill and just gives off this ‘wise’ aura idk why but I just look up to Hanna so much. No matter what she writes I will always support her and you all should too!!!

- @just-another-dream-about-yuu is ONE OF MY FAVORITE HUMANS TO EVER HUMAN. Julia omfg I cannot express how much I love you. TwT Julia is not only one of the most talented artists I have ever seen, but she is so sweet and fun and so full of energy and excitement!! She’s super busy with adulting so she’s not around in the fandom a whole lot but I always make sure to include her bc I won’t let her leave XD JULIA YOU CANNOT ESCAPE…. lmfao I will always drag you back… I won’t ever forget the day I got a twitter notification that someone drew me Unwritten fanart and the croaking sound I made was insane LMAO my friend who was with me was like WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED XD I was so excited!!! I still adore every piece of fanart she’s given me and I always will. Thank you, Julia, for bringing my imagination to life so many times, for showing me what you saw when you read my writing. It means more than I can say.

- @coleglend is the most underappreciated person in this fandom I swear. Or, who was in this fandom- Cole is off doing other things besides OnS, but regardless, she is so very amazing and beyond talented. I can’t even express how beautiful her art is and the emotions each piece sparks in me. Even her new Marvel artworks are just breathtaking and I truly admire them!!! I don’t know anyone who can make such detailed, visually engaging art- everything she creates belongs in a museum I swear. I want to print them and frame them for my walls!!! I look at her art all the time!!! Now that I’ve established how gorgeous her art is, talk about Cole as a person! She’s so sweet and kind and I love seeing her little posts on Instagram and such, even though I can’t understand most of them, I like seeing that she’s with friends and having a good time.

- @linnpuzzle is one of the coolest most amazing people in this fandom!!! Her art is STUNNING and as she knows, I will drop everything to commission her and buy her merch because I just am addicted to her gorgeous art!!! I am so honored to have some of her art as part of my collection of OnS things and I am forever going to treasure the commissions I’ve purchased from her!! Besides being a great artist, I love talking with Linn, too! I’m so glad we have things in common outside of MikaYuu, like Voltron and Kyo Kara Maoh :D Linn is truly too good for this world and she deserves everything okokok.

- @zilleniose-chu is truly an ICON of this fandom. We don’t talk alot outside of business stuff lolol but they are just freakin amazing!!! - @rindartist is absolutely one of my favorite artists of ALL TIME no doubt about it. Rin is so amazing, always making so many beautiful artworks of MikaYuu, and now of other lovely series aswelll! I may not be into GBF but her art of it is just lovely and I suggest everyone to commission Rin if they have the means!!

- @p0isonpez is someone I’ve only seen from afar but I absolutely love her art and posts!! I am so happy to see someone new in the fandom sharing such lovely things and interacting with the rest of us!! you seem so friendly and kind and I hope we can talk more sometime! :D

- @temesasu is such a sweetheart!! We’re just starting to talk a little more, but I am soso happy!! They are such an amazing cosplayer and their ONS cosplayers bring such a big smile to my face. Omg, their edits are just so awesome!! they always have me bouncing my head along, or completely enraptured and breathless, or laughing!! They are so good at evoking different emotions through video editing and as a very casual video editor myself, I am so impressed with their work!! I also love their memes and art and everything else that they share!!!

- @angeru-artist is a precious PRECIOUS ANGEL who deserves the entire world!!!! Omg, Angeru makes such amazing art, with such expressive characters and cute little attributes!!! I love it when I see their art and I’m so glad that we share a few fandoms together rather than just one. Angeru is really bighearted and she goes through way too much hard times, and I wish I could just take her away to somewhere better!!! TO EVERYONE ELSE, WHO I DIDN’T MENTION BC MY BRAIN IS JUMBLED AND I AM EXHAUSTED: I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. DONT STOP CREATING. THE FANDOM IS A FLAMING GARBAGE HEAP SOMETIMES LIKE IT WAS TODAY. But DON’T LET THAT STOP YOU from having a good time, doing what you love, and creating things that you are proud to share!!! And if your heart leads you elsewhere, to a different brand new fandom, I hope you always remember the people you inspired with your work!! I hope you forget the bad memories and always treasure the good ones. I hope that we can be friends and/or that I can continue supporting you no matter where we all end up in the years to come. No matter how ridiculous this fandom can get and how much stupid discourse can dampen the mood and disappoint me, I will never let it stop me from loving MikaYuu and OnS and what I do. I will never let it stop me from writing all that my crazy little heart wants. I will continue to write until my passion dies, and when that day comes I will probably cry as I say goodbye and resort to watching from the sidelines as everyone else carries on. I will never forget the fun I had here. These past 3 years have been so impactful already, and I know the future ones will continue to be- with the old friends, with the new friends, and with friends to be made!!
