Lint (Combination of Illa and Flint)

If this is pre-sober Flint then we have the issue of neither wanting a relationship which is actually why it could possibly work. Essentially a relationship without the pressure of one because Illa won’t admit to shit and Flint doesn’t want shit when he isn’t sober. They have clear boundaries and are actually pretty good at maneuvering around each other. Illa’s an ex-addict and alcoholic so she can deal with Flints Flintness and Flint when he feels he needs to step in to handle Illas meltdowns. There could be mutual growth or they’ll tear each other apart. Post-sober Flint is more likely to succeed but also quicker to burn out. Flint is stable and knows what he wants, Illa never does because she is her and dumb. It’d depend a lot on how stubborn Flint is and how long he cares about waiting and willing to deal with her getting through it. A breakup in any version is likely to be unpleasant and both would say things neither would forgive the other for after. Best avoided. As friends they actually would actively not sleep together and tend to seem more like they can’t stand each other. Frenemies?

Random HCs

Flint likes to make up languages, he also understands Spanish. This irks Illa to no end. He has a habit of making up languages and convincing her they are real. Some are some aren’t. He finds it hilarious that he has her speaking French but also gibberish, and her thinking gibberish is also a real language. He refuses to tell her which are real and probably never will. 

Illa likes to wear clothes the color of Flints magic. He likes it but would rather tell her everything wrong with her outfit and that she is a simp instead. She’d like to strangle him and purposefully wears more and more ridiculous outfits.

Speaking of outfits. She steals his clothes. He steals hers except he is taller and now they don’t fit. It has become a war in which Flint is amused when she thinks she can fit in his pants and that her dress fits him better. 

Neither Illa nor Flint use their “original” names. Illa teases him relentlessly after being named after a font and paper and in retaliation he purposefully pronounces her name wrong all the damn time.

When Illa is being particularly difficult, Flint is very good at making bird calls and will use her fear/hatred of most birds to make her shut up. 

They are notorious for sleeping and sleeping in inappropriate places. 

Both are surprisingly protective of the other and neither has much sense of self preservation. It can make for the most interesting of arguments and situations. 

Flint likes to watch sunrises and Illa stays up with him, even if she tends to bitch about it later because she is grumpy when tired. But she is insistent and will pout if he doesn’t wake her for it. She absolutely takes pictures of his face when he watches it and he may or may not pretend not to notice. 

They are both spectacularly bad at relationships. A main reason they didn’t fail is only because when the other is being ridiculous they simply refuse to break up with the other. 

Flint sucks at cooking, intentional or not and thus he is banned from Illas kitchen. He is however, allowed to get her stuff from the top shelves. Something he never fails to gloat over.

i want buck being wooed - flowers and being taken out and a little protective hand on the small of his back

i want to hear all the soft ways tommy can say evan and the look on buck's face when he does

i want to see them at tommy's karaoke trivia place because holy shit buck would love it (and didnt oliver say that we're getting buck singing this season cause uhhhhh)

i love that this is such a fling, such a happy thing for buck - he is finally feeling that puzzle piece click into place and it is freeing

I live in Western North Carolina. I have no idea if anyone knows what is going on here. I finally have gotten sufficient enough cell service to get online.

We are never going to fully recover. Whole towns are gone. My town was flattened. My street, a few miles south of town, was spared. We had no power or running water for four days. We lost hundreds of dollars of food from our fridge and freezers. We have no internet and no idea when it will be back. I work from home. My partner works two jobs - or worked, because one probably doesn’t exist anymore. My car took minor damage from the storm. Even if we had jobs, we probably couldn’t get to them. We got really lucky.

I so far have not lost anyone. Many of my friends are displaced. Some watched their homes be swept away. Some of them lost their pets. Some of them had to dig their children out of mud.

People - not organizations, not first responders, not the government - are clearing roads, doing welfare checks, forming groups of riders to take supplies up mountains on horses and mules. Private helicopters are landing in the middle of my town to drop supplies. They are doing this all over, all day, an essential lifeline for our cut off communities. The bigger cities are getting a more organized response, especially Asheville, which was essentially cut off from incoming vehicle traffic for a few days. Thank god the airport was spared.

I lost cell service, then internet, then power, from 7:45-8:20am Friday. I had no communication until Saturday. I was able to get a few texts out. I was able to get into town. Children’s toys were in the street. Some of my favorite businesses are gone. I saw a car part way up a house.

Please, send help. I don’t know what organizations to donate to. Any time I get online is spent networking relief efforts and getting the word out about missing persons. Keeping my family updated. Applying for FEMA assistance and mortgage relief. I have heard Blue Ridge Public Radio has a list on their website.

The death toll right now stands in the 50s. It is going to end up in the hundreds.

I am so heartbroken.

Yall i dont think im gonna be able to stop thinking about usha and g13, actually.

Ushas an old old woman, clueless with tech. Lived long enough to develop various bonds with a LOT of people and relies on them a lot for help. In turn, shes VERY loyal to her close conpanions (a great example would be how she tends to back paula up a LOT, the way she sets up russel and paula to 'fake date' wink and all). She's very warm and very emotionally intelligent even if she's a bit clueless sometimes. Her logic is borderline incomprehensible, but it has heart.

G13 on the other hand, is a hacking prodigy. Hes young, hes sought after for his skills for better and for worse. But in turn, he's essentially lost himself in the process. He may be able to scrape nuke codes, but he'll never make a friend. He lacks any loyalty for anyone and anything except for himself and his interests, and if they dont satisfy those two points, then its worth nothing to him. His logic may be sound, but its cold.

This is what Kanan tells Ezra when Ezra asks why Yoda sent them to Malachor, and it haunts me. They asked for a chance, and Yoda gives them one, and they fail. And after that, as far as I can tell? Yoda writes them off. Yoda never appears to them after Malachor; Obi-Wan, when Ezra turns up on Tatooine, tells him "You're in the wrong place," refuses to help the Rebellion, and sends him home. All Yoda and Obi-Wan's eggs are in one basket, and that basket is labeled "Luke." Kanan and Ezra are on their own.

It would be so easy for them to give up. They're not the chosen ones; they failed their test. Who could blame them?

But they don't. Kanan works through his depression, Ezra comes back from the dark, and they keep fighting. It doesn't matter that they'll never defeat the Sith. It doesn't matter that the battles they fight are insignificant on the galaxy-wide scale, that no one really cares about Lothal except them and their friends. It doesn't matter that the structure of the Star Wars franchise means they'll never even be a footnote to history; by A New Hope, no one will remember them.

What matters is that the fight is worth fighting, so they're going to give it all they have.

This is why I love Rebels, and all the other bits of Star Wars sandwiched between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. We have lots of stories, as a culture, about people who vanquish evil; we don't have nearly as many that valorize people who fight battles they can't win. We watch these shows and play these games knowing that the protagonists won't defeat Vader or the Empire, knowing they're living in the wrong place and the wrong time, and we learn to care anyway. We learn that even impossible fights are worth fighting, that every skirmish matters even when they're not what wins the war.

We need more media like that. Because most of us are never going to be the ones who strike the final blow (if a final blow even exists) against climate change, or bigotry, or whatever battle we're fighting. And it is so easy to give up hope, and so important to remember that the struggle matters, even when you fail.
