Cat Crossing

When Marinette gave out her code to let people onto her Animal Crossing Island, Chat Noir was the last person she expected to pay her a visit.

This was also written as a collab between me and another friend of mine, @lesslinette! They made a great piece of art for this fic, which I'll add here as soon as it is posted.

It was late.

Marinette really should be sleeping right now, but…

Just a few more tweaks and her village would be perfect. Her favorite villagers. Many of them wearing clothes she’d personally made - she was as much a designer in Animal Crossing as she was in the real world. It’d taken a while to get the lamp posts she wanted too, but now that they were here…

She was ready. After opening up the airport on her island and getting her dodo code, she put her switch to the side and typed the code into the group chat. It didn’t get used much - mostly just Nino sharing memes with the rest of them, or attempts to get everyone together to hang out. Attempts which almost always ended in failure, thanks to Adrien’s strict schedule and even stricter father.

Adrien…

He was the only other person in the gang that even had a switch, which is what gave her the idea for this in the first place. While it was hard for them to hang out in the real world, she was sure they could squeeze in some time together online.

Marinette could picture it now. He arrives, amazed at her village. They hang out together, growing closer every day. Friendship turns to dating and dating turns to marriage. Twenty years down the line they can tell the story about how they got together because of a video game and Marinette’s excellent village-building skills.

But in the present day, it was three in the morning. With the switch turned off, the long delayed exhaustion hit all at once. Dreams of the married life with the boy of her dreams danced in her head as she fell asleep.

A few days passed. Everyone had seen the message she’d sent on the chat, but it was quickly buried under a torrent of memes, pushing it out of sight and out of mind. She opened the airport and sent out the code one more time, but it was a faint hope.

Her dreams - the friendship, the dating, the marriage - turned to ashes, but at least she still had her village to keep her busy. So busy, in fact, that without even realizing it, she had ended up playing until into the late hours of the night once again.

The groove she’d worked herself into was rudely thrown off when a cutscene began playing, interrupting her fishing. A plane was gently cruising into her airport.

Marinette read the text that showed up and spoke out loud, “Chat Noir, Carefree Animal from Purr-adise has arrived on your island?”

That couldn’t be right. She sat up, suddenly alert. True, she and Chat Noir weren’t exactly strangers - he shows up on her balcony sometimes during his patrol. He at least knew her name. But what was he doing on her island? Assuming it was even actually Chat Noir.

Her curiosity sparked, she made her way to the airport.

Sure enough, whoever they were had gone the full distance. They’d made their own outfit modeled after the feline hero of Paris - black with the accents all in the right places. No cat ears or tail, but they did manage to get a black hero mask. Between that and the messy hair and green eyes, it was about as close as someone could get to his iconic outfit.

The rose in the mouth, though - that was what really convinced her that this was none other than Chat Noir. If she had any doubts after that, the moment the speech bubble appeared over his head quieted them.

“Aw, princess! Came to see me off the airplane? ;3”

Huffing, Marinette quickly typed out a response. “How did you get here Chat.”

“Plane.”

“I mean it!”

“Oooh, pretty island!”

And just like that, Chat Noir had bolted away, an entirely new type of cat boy loose in her village. Although one thing she learned after a few minutes of running after him - there wasn’t a lot of mischief he could actually get into.

After standing still for a few moments, Chat Noir said, “...want to be best friends?”

“So you can tear up my island? Hard pass.”

“Nooo come on, plz? I’ll be a good kitty I purromise.”

“No. But because of that pun? Definitely no.”

“You do you Chat. I’m going back to fishing.”

Fishing in games was always relaxing for Marinette. Her mind could wander while she listened to the gentle music of the game, all the while slowly building up a pile of fish she could sell off. It was a nice way to unwind after the stress of tests or akuma battles.

Usually.

Those times, she didn’t have an annoying cat boy visitor running into the water, screaming “RUN AWAY FISHY FRIENDS!”

“CHAT.”

His only response was to slowly run into her, gently pushing her away from the water.

“I am FISHING. Go hang out somewhere else.”

“Where the princess goes I must follow.”

“Ugh fine.”

Figuring that fishing was out now, she wandered away to find something else to do. Although it was a little annoying, she had to admit it was nice having him on the island. It was a nice little ego boost to see him ooh and ahh at her village as he followed behind her. And the presence of another person made things feel a little less repetitive.

Of course, that goodwill quickly flew out the window once she tried to pick something up, only for Chat’s net to bonk her on the head.

She silently turned her character towards him, pretending that she was glaring at him despite the unchanging smile on her character’s face saying otherwise. After a few good long seconds she tried again.

BONK.

“aksfvjJKHDFBVJHGB,” she keyboard smashed.

“:3”

He kept following her as she went to a little picnic area. After all, if she wasn’t going to be able to get anything done, she may as well lounge in style.

“How did you even get here?! Seriously! I only gave my code away to”

Her eyes widened and she hit send accidentally. Their characters stood looking at each other for long minutes.

Only three people. Chat wasn’t Nino and he definitely wasn’t Alya. Which just left…

“...Adrien?”

Another moment passed in silence.

Chat Noir has disconnected.

Marinette stared blankly at the spot that Chat’s- Adrien’s character had just been standing.

After all the close calls and the near misses and all that they’d done to keep their identities a secret… Chat Noir blows it in under an hour because he wanted to tease her in the virtual world. Marinette wanted to be mad at him, but all she could do was laugh. It was just such a perfectly Chat Noir way to mess it up. What else could she do?

Her eyes gleamed with mischief. School tomorrow was going to be fun.

A Manifesto Against The School System

As of writing this I am a second year Public High School Teacher. I won’t be able to live with myself if I spend another year at it. Literally, I feel like a bit of a monster for deciding to finish out this school year rather than quitting right now. But we do what we must to survive, my students won’t be less oppressed because I left, and if nothing else, it gives me an opportunity to strategize about what I can do to aid in revolutionizing school because authentic alternatives to public school exist but none I have found have been intersectional enough to replace public education without excluding the kids who would most benefit from escaping the main school system here in America.

Some of the reasons I did not understand how oppressive school actually is, are that my interests and hobbies happened to align very neatly with the “core” classes, and that even though I grew up very poor and moved around a lot as a kid, we eventually settled and I went to a well funded high school that had just about any elective and/or after school club that I might be interested in trying and then some. During that time, I came to see school as a place where I could explore my passions and escape my home situation. So I figured I would love to pay it forward and go be a teacher.

I recognized at least, the privileged position I came from and decided I wanted to go learn how to teach in settings as different from my high school as possible. Which is why I went and got special permission for most of my classroom placements throughout the teaching program to be at alternative schools. In Colorado at least, alternative schools are small public schools which primarily serve students identified as “at risk”, which is shorthand for “Statistically more likely to drop out than the general population for one reason or another.”

I did not know when I asked to be placed in one, but learned within days of being there that most people that even know alternative schools exist, think of them as the places where “the bad kids” go. I realized very quickly that they are actually places filled with kids who have experienced a lot of trauma in and out of school and don’t respond to that trauma the way adults want them to respond. I came to adore kids at alternative schools because they remind me of my younger siblings.

Like my oldest brother, many of them find school mind numbingly easy and boring and have much more pressing matters to devote their mental energy to.

Like my middle brother, many of them have spent so much time around teachers who do not understand neurodivergence that have been convinced of the lie that they are weird, dumb and/or lazy and because of that, trying to participate in school is like hitting their head on a brick wall.

Like all of my brothers and my sisters, they have a ton of skills that they are brilliant at, but that are not prioritized by the school system, so they never pursue them, such as construction, music, makeup and programming.

Many, if not most of them come from living situations full of abuse and neglect and/or poverty so they don’t have the mental or emotional space to worry about much beyond survival, and not only haven’t learned how to make and achieve long term goals, but have never had the luxury of a stable enough environment for that kind of planning to be worthwhile.

All that being said, something that you only realize if you actually work in a few public alternative schools, as I have done through college and my current job, is that the name is actually an oxymoron.

What started me down the path of considering and researching all the ways school is an oppressive system, was a conversation I had with a student in my first year teaching. He was learning about chemical reactions and safety and asked me the infamous question, “Why do I have to learn about this?” to which I said “Because everything is chemicals and understanding how they can interact with one another and ways they can harm you can keep you safe when you do things like clean or cook.” To which he replied, “Well no offense but I have no idea how this shit relates to cooking and please don’t tell me because its not like I’m actually going to remember it when I am cooking, and I already know how to clean safely because of work. But you’re still going to make me learn this boring shit anyways so seriously, why do we have to learn about this?”

I paused to consider what he was asking. I had interpreted, as the system trained me to, that the question he was asking was, “what value does this knowledge hold?” But what he actually meant was “Why are you making me waste my time learning about this thing that I never asked to learn about?” So I replied, as a sort of test of my new understanding, “It’s part of the physical science curriculum the Education Department thinks is important for high schoolers to learn.” He was taken aback, “Wait, you don’t decide what stuff we learn about? What’s even the point of teachers then? Why don’t they just give us a list of all their stupid stuff they think we should know so we can get on with our lives?” He had a point and I have spent a lot of time reflecting on and growing from that conversation.

Sure, there are some key differences that make alternative schools slightly more tolerable than your standard 800-4,000 kid high school. Class sizes are smaller so students get more individualized help. We get funding to help students access things such as food, clothes, hygiene products, and healthcare and know students well enough that we actually know which kids are lacking these resources. We have slightly more leeway than traditional schools to create innovative lessons. We don’t give out homework.

But public alternative schools are still oppressive in most of the ways that the big schools are. I’m sure none of this will be a surprise to most readers, but I want you to really consider how restricted kids in public school are, how restricted you probably were in school as you read through this.

School starts early in the morning and students have to constantly shift mental gears throughout the day due to a tight schedule of constantly rotating classes and a very short lunch break. Throughout the day, bells tell students when they can’t or must move around or eat. Students have to ask when they need to go to the bathroom or get water and teachers cannot go at all outside of their plan period because students are not trusted to be in the classroom without an adult even for a few minutes. They have no control over who they share space with and very little control over their ability to leave that space if it conflicts with their needs. There is a strict dress code which disproportionately targets marginalized students. Students are expected to be sociable but not given nearly enough opportunities to actually socialize. The school keeps records of everything the student has ever gotten in trouble for, every class the student has taken, every grade they have received, their “class rank,” and every intervention program the student is part of. And like every public school, alternative schools must follow state curriculum standards and by extension, grading, data collection, and required testing. On the surface it might not seem like it, but that last point is actually the most insidious one and its the one that has followed students into remote learning during the pandemic.

According to the people who decide how schools work, there are four factors of student choice: These factors are Time, Place, Pace, and Path. For example, if I am running a unit on plate tectonics, rather than giving students a worksheet and telling them to work on it as we go through a slideshow and turn it in at the end of class, I could put them in groups, give them an online choice board of three different but roughly equivalent projects relating to plate tectonics to choose from, each with different rubrics for completion and tell them they can turn it in at any time in the next two weeks. And then instead of devoting class time to direct instruction, I would give them a variety of resources to peruse and teach them how to research more and let them choose what aspects of plate tectonics to focus on and how to present their information. Now, this is certainly a few steps in the right direction away from making kids sit in rows and listen to the teacher drone on about plate tectonics while they take notes. But it misses the most important factors of choice in my eyes, the things that I would be fired for if I actually gave them the choice about: How students spend their time and what they are allowed to prioritze.

None of this is to say that expecting kids to learn is inherently fucked up or that teaching inherently makes one an oppressive person. On the contrary, authentic teaching and learning are vital to our ability to solve our problems and grow as people. If all students were given the opportunities to spend their childhoods learning things that they were actually interested in, to explore the full breadth of knowledge that humans have compiled at their leisure without timelines or milestones except the ones they set for themselves, to socialize with people of all ages, to authentically participate in society both as learners and as educators, as leaders and as team members, the world wouldn’t be perfect, but it would be a lot less soul crushing.

Maggie, Mary and Moriarty – like ghosts from ze past…

There are indeed lots of recurring themes in BBC Sherlock, like for example suicide or codes and ciphers or ghosts.

But one of the recurring themes is more specific, in the sense that it’s about a person who has lived in the real world – and a powerful one to boot: Margaret Thatcher. This former British prime minister is mentioned repeatedly in the show, but in different ways. So – why this obsession with Thatcher? Is it some sort of clue? Let’s have a closer look; I’ll try to account for all the occurrences here in chronological order and analyze their possible meaning (a warning: this might be a bit lengthy, so please bear with me):

1. The first time Thatcher is mentioned is in John Watson’s blog, at about the time of ASiB. The entry is called “The Six Thatchers” (which most certainly is a reference to ACD Canon’s case The Six Napoleons):

Sally Barnicot contacted Sherlock about the murder of her art-student friend Pietro Venucci, who was found stabbed in the pottery room. His boyfriend Beppo Rovito told the police he had discovered the body. Sally accused Beppo of murder, but there was no evidence.

Sherlock discovered a series of burglaries at other houses related to the university and the victim. John went there in disguise and found that Pietro had made six pottery figures of Maggie Thatcher with devil horns, which had been sold to all the burglary victims. Apparently the figures were meant as satire of Thatcher. Nothing else was taken during the break-ins.

Sherlock and John visited the houses of the two remaining figures. John watched Beppo breaking in, heard glass shattering and saw him finding the figure on the mantlepiece.

They followed him outside, watched him smash the figure and caught him picking up a penknife from inside the figure, which had his initials on it.

Beppo confessed that he and Pietro had an argument and, in a struggle, Beppo had stabbed him. He'd seen the figures going into the oven and pushed the knife into the clay. He'd then smashed a window to make it look like there'd been a break-in.

Observations: a) We never get to know the actual motive for Beppo stabbing his boyfriend.

b) In this blog entry there’s a picture of Sherlock wearing the ‘funny hat’ (deerstalker), which has often been interpreted as his ‘public image’ in spite of him not liking it at all; a Persona he is forced into by others.

c) John believed Sally had been in love with the victim, which could be a sign of a triangle drama of some sort.

2. In The Hounds of Baskerville, Sherlock tries to figure out the password to Major Barrymore’s online info about the secret CIA project H.O.U.N.D. Since the Major is strict, conservative and has five biographies of Margaret Thatcher in his book shelf, Sherlock deduces the password: “Maggie”. He finds out that this project has produced a drug as a secret chemical weapon. The online text mentions things like ‘Paranoia,’ ‘Severe frontal lobe damage,’ and ‘Multiple homicide,’ in association with this drug. Sherlock explains it: “ …a new deliriant drug which rendered its users incredibly suggestible. They wanted to use it as an anti-personnel weapon to totally disorientate the enemy using fear and stimulus…”

Observations: a) One of the five project leaders, whose family names form the acronym HOUND, is named Mary Uslowski. Mary Watson was also part of a group with an acronym made from the group members’ names; AGRA.

b) In this scene Thatcher’s name is associated with a poison that brings hallucinations, paranoia and fear to its victims.

3. In the episode The Six Thatchers in Series 4, there are six plaster busts of Margaret Thatcher owned by five different people. There are also a series of burglaries where someone systematically smashes the busts, but doesn’t take anything. The importance of the Thatcher busts is emphasized not only in the episode title, but within the story as well:

Sherlock seems obsessed with finding out how Margaret Thatcher might be connected to James Moriarty:

But he doesn’t have a spelled-out theory; it rather seems based on intuition...

...and the surroundings go spooky and bluish...

However, in spite of Sherlock being called back from his fatal mission in Eastern Europe specifically to deal with Moriarty’s supposed return, he fails miserably to track Moriarty down. In fact, there is basically nothing more revealed in this episode about Jim Moriarty or his possible connection to Thatcher. Mycroft believes that Moriarty is after a certain Black Pearl of the Borgias, but Sherlock doesn’t find the pearl either. (And in the following episode Jim seems totally forgotten).

Instead, the evidence hidden inside the last of the Thatcher busts leads directly to Mary Watson, and her background as member of the contract killer group A.G.R.A.

At first, ‘Mary’ isn’t directly participating when Sherlock investigates the case that leads him to the first Thatcher bust; she is merely seen curiously waiting in the background.

However, when two more Thatcher busts are smashed and they do get in focus, ‘Mary’ - for some odd reason - suddenly gets involved in Sherlock’s search:

It’s a bit strange; ‘Mary’ has never been a part of Sherlock’s cases until now, so it’s unclear why her presence is suddenly so important - especially since her ‘help’ doesn’t lead to any improvement of the case whatsoever:

And still she gets to participate as some kind of expert. It almost seems like Sherlock deliberately lets ‘Mary’ come between him and John, even when they’re working together.

At the end of the episode ‘Mary’ dies from a gunshot (in an extremely unrealistic and overly dramatic way) and her death seems to damage John’s and Sherlock’s friendship when John blames Sherlock for the incident. The interesting thing is, that from now on we get Mary’s ghost as a transmitter of Moriarty’s eternal “miss me?” message:

Associated with one of the Thatcher burglaries is the mysterious death of a young man, Charlie Welsborough, who wanted to surprise his father on his 50:th birthday by pretending to be a car seat and then suddenly drop the disguise. But the guy dies of some sort of seizure and never gets to surprise his father. His body is discovered a week later when the parked car accidentally gets hit by another car and explodes.

Observations: a) This whole Six Thatchers case seems extremely similar to the earlier case on John’s blog; there are the same number of Thatcher images (although this time with no devil’s horns, thus worshipped rather than mocked), they are all smashed and there is important evidence hidden inside one of them at the pottery, with someone’s initials on it (but this time information rather than a weapon).

b) This time Sherlock actually seems happy about the busts being destroyed. Charlie Welsborough’s father has images of Thatcher as a shrine placed on a prominent place in the living room, while the photos of his dead son only appear on a side table.  Sherlock pretends to not recognize the importance of Thatcher, and he almost expresses sympathy with the burglar:

And Sherlock is not alone; even his mostly very formal and polite civil servant of a brother is critical:

c) The young Charlie Welsborough seems queer- or trans-coded in the subtext, since

i) Sherlock mis-genders Charlie by referring to him as the Welsboroughs’ daughter:

ii) There’s an 18th or 19th century painting in his parents’ house with a little girl with a drum – hardly a common toy for girls in those times:

iii) There’s a Blue Power Ranger figure attached to the front of Charlie’s car, associating to the TV series with the same name, which is shown melting when the car explodes:

David Yost, the actor who played the Blue Power Ranger ‘Billy Cranston’, has stated he had “walked off the show --- due to repeated and ongoing homophobic slurs by the creators, producers, directors, and writers of the series” (X).

Even Charlie is associated with ghosts in this episode; John mentions that he’s going to call this case “The Ghost Driver” on his blog.

So maybe Charlie’s death is also significant; he died while trying to make himself invisible to his father-the-Thatcher-lover by resembling a car seat, possibly due to fear that his father would disapprove of his sexual orientation or trans-gender identity.

d) Whenever Thatcher is in focus in this episode, weird things happen; the surroundings become spooky and bluish…

…and/or watery…

… or Sherlock gets the imprint of Maggie projected on his face:

5: Right before one of the bust smashings, parting from the scene in Mycroft’s office where Sherlock wants to know how Moriarty is connected to Thatcher, there’s a glass being shattered:

The same thing happened earlier, in John’s blog case The Six Thatchers, when Beppo was discovered at a crime scene. And later in the show, inside Sherlock’s mind palace in TAB, John and Sherlock also heard the sound of glass shattering. At the time they thought it was a window shattering while someone was breaking in, but it turned out that the object broken was a mirror used to produce the illusion of a ghost:

To summarise: We have these three ghosts casting their shadows over the show from TAB to TFP, and maybe even earlier: Maggie Thatcher, James Moriarty and Mary Watson. But in TAB Sherlock insists to John: “You may, however, rest assured there are no ghosts in this world… save those we make for ourselves”.

So my guess is that these are ghosts that Sherlock has created in his mind palace. The blog case and also Major Barrymore’s fondness of Thatcher in THoB might be ‘real’, but Series 4 seems to be Sherlock’s rehashing of past events in new ways inside his mind palace (EMP theory). In THoB Barrymore’s secret info accessible with the password “Maggie” is about a drug that instils fear in the victims, confuses them and makes them hallucinate. Maybe this drug is also involved with all the weird things Sherlock experiences in Series 4.

The shattering of glass in the two Six Thatchers cases, as well as in the ghost case in TAB, seem to alert the audience to pay attention, and to realize the fact that this ghost imagery is all fake; there’s no reason for us to believe in these ghosts or obey their messages, since they all belong to the past and do not actually exist except in people’s heads.

In ‘Mary’s case I think it’s heteronormativity and in Moriarty’s it’s homophobia. They’re the villains of the story; they’re the issues that are keeping Sherlock and John from openly becoming who they really are. 

But what about ‘Maggie’ – why this massive emphasis on a PM from the eighties and people smashing images of her? Well, I suspect it’s because she’s been infamous for her homophobic conduct as a Prime minister in that period. Some of the best-known examples:

Quote from Margaret Thatcher’s speech to Conservative Party Conference October 9, 1987 (X):  ”Children who need to be taught to respect traditional moral values are being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay. - - - All of those children are being cheated of a sound start in life - yes cheated.”

In 1988 Thatcher’s government legislated Britain’s first new anti-gay law in 100 years; Section 28, which stated that a local authority "shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality" or "promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship" (X)

Thatcher tried to block public health warnings about Aids in the eighties. Allegedly she feared teenagers would be “harmed" by an Aids awareness campaign about how the disease spread. (X) (X)  

My conclusion: Maggie, Mary and Moriarty are connected in this show, they take turns to represent what’s literally killing Sherlock, John and their relationship: homophobia and heteronormativity. And in the case of Thatcher it’s connected to the official power – a prevailing viewpoint that totally dominated society in the Victorian times when ACD’s Canon was written, and that still has a lot of influence. The six Thatchers are all smashed in the show, but Mary and Moriarty still linger as ghosts until the end of TFP. Let’s hope there actually will be a fifth series some time, where we can finally get rid of these ghosts once and for all.

WHAT IS IMPOSTER SYNDROME?

For the past couple of months we've covered everything from foundations you need to set your online presence and business up for success, how to create a content calendar and repurpose your content, to how to use SEO on your website. 

But there's a big piece internally that has to be done in order for you to go from finding opportunities to landing opportunities. There's a giant gap in the middle of that - a lot of us struggle with the big monster that wakes you up in the middle of the night: imposter syndrome. 

So why is this happening?

Everyone suffers from imposter syndrome (I do too!). But once you crack this code, it will flip your way of thinking. It’s a thought we put in our brain, it’s a thought that if you're not getting clients and customers, you've convinced yourself that it's because your work is not great. Then you convince yourself, okay, I need to keep working for free for my portfolio, and maybe eventually you will get more clients. 

Yes, in some cases, an amazing portfolio can make an impact on a decision, but most people are not in a place to decide what is good or bad! You are the one with the expertise in your field, not the people hiring you. 

HOW TO GET PAST IMPOSTER SYNDROME

By backtracking negative self talk and changing your mindset, you can get past imposter syndrome and thrive in your business

Switching What You’re Selling

The difference between the person that looks like they are killing it, and the way you are feeling is: they have learned the tactic of switching what they're selling. 

So instead of saying, “I'm selling high quality wedding photographs to you,” they're actually saying, “how can I show up as the unique human being that I am and offer this service in no other way that anyone else can?” 

You are the only version of yourself. How do we internalise the way that we're showing up and serving people, instead of making the quality of the work do the serving?

The Myth of the Portfolio

You might be putting a portfolio together with your past experience and thinking, it's not applicable to the kind of person I want to serve. If you show that content, you are going to attract the wrong clIent. It’s ok if you don’t have an in depth portfolio with the exact work you want to do.

Think about it like high school. Has anyone asked you to use the Pythagorean theorem since? For instance, I started out doing social media management. I created social media posts, scheduled them, all that jazz, and then one day a client asked if I could do social media advertising. I had never tried, but my client knew me, and trusted me.

Focus on your individual value, and trust yourself to serve your ideal clients. 

Instead of focusing on a detailed portfolio, focus on:

Your individuality, and the value of that

Where your passions lie

The connection between you and your clients

Create a Personalised Approach

So let's paint this picture. We're going back a bit now: I'm a new business coach and convinced myself that if I got better numerical results, (10K Instagram followers within a week), then I would have better testimonials and more people would hire me. 

Yes, to a certain extent, this is true. People want to see you can get your clients results. Though after research, I realised that coaching doesn’t work that way. It's not a one size fits all. When I focused on creating a personalised experience, my business thrived.

I realised that people wanted to work with me, not mainly because of what I knew or because of my experiences, but because they knew they liked my way of teaching. They liked my way of explaining things, and they liked me.

I'm not going to give you a cookie cutter formula of what every single one-on-one client has to work on. I'm going to find out where you are now, where you want to be, and what we can do in 12 weeks to close that gap while making it very fun along the way. 

Don’t rely on a strict one-on-one structure, or specific steps that need to be followed, but recognise the differences between businesses and work to let them thrive individually.

Find Your Passion

Think about what is it that you're attracted to about what you do. So rather than saying, I want to be like X, Y, Z… 

What are you already like? 

What do you already produce? 

What is it that makes you excited? 

What part of your process are you just like, this is my favourite part of the process. Every single time. 

When you're selling and you're getting in front of people, talking about your passion with passion, you're talking about your craft in a way that's just powerful and exciting, that something people want to be a part of.

When you are in your element 100% and you're not trying to be anyone else, people want to be around you.

So ultimately what you’re trying to do is not necessarily a shift, it's just a thought reversal. It is less about the quality of your work and more about your passion for the subject and your passion for the process. Selling yourself by being yourself, and talking about what it is that lights you up. 

What gets you excited about doing this? If you're missing that (because there have definitely been periods where I've wondered: what is my purpose?), acknowledge those as seasons. Step out of your comfort zone and launch something new. The simple act of acknowledging how you feel is going to allow you to make shifts towards being able to deal with it better next time. 

Stop comparing yourself to others you see on the internet. If that person is not providing any value to you, why are you following them? The simple act of focusing on your community rather than your competitors makes this whole thing worthwhile. You can step into your element and feel excited because you’re pleasing your community and not assigning your value to the people you compare yourself to. 

What I'm encouraging you to do today is to start to begin to think about how you can flip how you are selling the thing that you offer upside down. Think about what is the story behind how you serve and ultimately, deliver that final product. Because that thing is not going to change. 

If you have a passion for it, focus on you, and just be yourself - people will want to work with you.

Diprolene Side Effects

Are to be feared in the event of prolonged use: cutaneous atrophy, telangiectasias (to be feared particularly on the face), stretch marks (at the root of the limbs in particular and occurring more readily in adolescents); ecchymotic purpura secondary to atrophy, skin fragility.

In the face, corticosteroids can create a perioral dermatosis or else create or worsen rosacea (see warnings and contraindications).

Warnings and Precautions

Special warnings

Prolonged use on the face of class I, II and III corticosteroids exposes the occurrence of corticosteroid-induced and paradoxically corticosteroid-sensitive dermatitis, with rebound after each stop. A gradual weaning, particularly difficult, is then necessary.

Due to the force of action of this steroid, when used on large surfaces or under occlusion, an important absorption of the product with a passage in the flow can occur causing systemic effects of corticosteroids through oral or parenteral (particularly in infants and young children: see contraindications), and in particular a temporary slowing down of adrenal function (cushingoid syndrome and slowing down of growth); these accidents disappear when treatment is stopped, but abrupt stopping may be followed by acute adrenal insufficiency.

In children, treatment may not be exceptional and under strict supervision.

Precautions for use

One should be particularly wary of spontaneous occlusion phenomena which may occur in folds or under waterproof pants.

In case of bacterial or fungal dermatitis steroid-a, should be to precede the use of corticosteroid specific treatment, or possibly, and only in certain cases, to use a corticosteroid combination and specific treatment .

If a local intolerance appear, treatment should be interrupted and the cause must be sought.

In case of palpebral application, the duration of treatment should be limited. A prolonged application exposes in fact to risks of ptosis by muscular damage of the levator of the eyelid, glaucoma, rebound effect.

Visual disturbances may appear during systemic or local corticosteroid therapy (especially nasal, inhaled and intraocular). In the event of blurred vision or the appearance of any other visual symptom appearing during corticosteroid therapy, an ophthalmological examination is required to look for visual disturbances, in particular cataracts, glaucoma, or more lesion. rare such as central serous chorioretinopathy, described with the administration of corticosteroids by systemic or local route.

Special warnings

Prolonged use on the face of class I, II and III corticosteroids exposes the occurrence of corticosteroid-induced and paradoxically corticosteroid-sensitive dermatitis, with rebound after each stop. A gradual weaning, particularly difficult, is then necessary.

Due to the force of action of this steroid, when used on large surfaces or under occlusion, an important absorption of the product with a passage in the flow can occur causing systemic effects of corticosteroids through oral or parenteral (particularly in infants and young children: see contraindications), and in particular a temporary slowing down of adrenal function (cushingoid syndrome and slowing down of growth); these accidents disappear when treatment is stopped, but abrupt stopping may be followed by acute adrenal insufficiency.

In children, treatment may not be exceptional and under strict supervision.

Precautions for use

One should be particularly wary of spontaneous occlusion phenomena which may occur in folds or under waterproof pants.

In case of bacterial or fungal dermatitis steroid-a, should be to precede the use of corticosteroid specific treatment, or possibly, and only in certain cases, to use a corticosteroid combination and specific treatment .

If a local intolerance appear, treatment should be interrupted and the cause must be sought.
