Oh god, uh, where to begin with this one. Do any of you remember the Raft Ride event I had on here, on April 1st? Yeah, Raft Ride ~ The Story So Far - through my commitment to the bit, I had to try and talk about a LOT of different jokes and bits, ones I'd expressed fondness for already, and ones I still didn't know what to really make of. Of course, it was balanced out by the very nature of the event being that I didn't take the posts all too seriously, I wrote a good few of them half-asleep at my desk, yet serious or not, at 10:16PM on April 1st 2024, I reached Wanna See My Raft?. Right at that moment, I had to confront the demon I'd long wanted to ignore - and today, with A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams), I've decided its time to face the demon head-on. Today, we're talking about SML, and talking about Jeffy.

Truth be told, for as much as I love to think back to my youngest years on the internet, the affection I have for Dreamscape and Paralyzer and all that which I talked about in How 2 Do Anything - I somehow managed to avoid SuperMarioLogan for all that time. Maybe my YouTube recommendations were just kind to me, or my young brain just didn't really get the appeal of plush/puppet videos, but I steered clear of the channel despite its absurd popularity. If you've never heard of SML, you've missed an absolute titan of children's YouTube, a channel that gets 2 to 3 million views per upload, with videos made at a rate of 3 per week. Whether or not the videos are GOOD is another matter entirely - to some, its just typical Kids YouTube slop, but others have been following the channel's history for years and witnessed first-hand just how outright insane its storylines have become. What began as just a series of skits with Mario characters in wacky situations slowly began to get edgier in the mid-2010s YouTube landscape: the videos would play with outright racist and homophobic jokes, depictions of sex work and drug abuse, full-on SUICIDE jokes - all still attached to a channel with Mario puppets and with a target audience consisting mostly of children. It got to the point where Nintendo themselves had to step in with a legitimate pen-to-paper DMCA takedown request - and in the years since, the channel has continued on much the same course, but with all Mario characters replaced with human look-a-likes.

It's an absolutely insane rabbithole to go down, a core pillar of kids YouTube's seedy underbelly, yet one that for some reason or another keeps being brought up in online discussion, mainly by terminally online adults like myself. And so, SML-posting began sneaking its way into SiIvaGunner's rips as early as the start of Season 4 Episode 1, but has slowly been growing in frequency as of late, all headlined by SML's new mascot post-Nintendo takedown - Jeffy. A comic relief stupid shithead character now sitting as the channel's main character, Jeffy is, put bluntly, an outright agent of chaos the likes of which I do not wish to describe in detail. A demon in man's clothing, a creature unable to be tamed, a man who fears no god. And, indeed, the main star of SuperMarioLogan, and by proxy, the main voice to be heard in all rips made of the channel.

In a way, Jeffy is akin to those "cursed" SiIva memes that have always existed in some form or another. Astronaut in the Ocean, Yankin, The Bean - I've covered the former two plenty in rips like Aquarium in the Ocean and the latter's infamy is one of the most notable events from Season 1 of the channel. Yet in comparison to those three, Jeffy's prominence on SiIva seems to have slipped under the radar in a lot of ways, his true power yet to be felt. There hasn't been an SML takeover, none of the rips have truly blown up - its as if the demon is biding his time, known to be lurking only by some channel die-hards like myself, yet still obscured from the public consciousness of the masses. And in the meantime, we're getting rips like A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams) - all paying a disturbing amount of reverence and attention to this false deity.

Kirby Planet Robobot is a very special game on SiIvaGunner, and has been since the start of Season 2, arguably even since The Reboot: Through rips like Mother's・Caption (We Paused The Channel For HOW Long?! Mix) and The Noble Haltmann, it is THE game most closely tied to the channel's ongoing lore in the Christmas Comeback Crisis, the kind of game where any rip of it is bound to catch the attention of viewers. Of the game's soundtrack, P-R-O-G-R-A-M sits above all in terms of significance, tied to everything from The Reboot to the Inspector Gadget takeover of Become as Gadget - its a theme that is at once intense and climactic, yet also sounds as if it is falling apart at the seams, a digital system being broken apart by an unknown invader. And amidst all of this context, all this weight that P-R-O-G-R-A-M holds - or at least, has held to me ever since way back in 2017 - we get a rip of it using fucking JEFFY. And I'm supposed to just understand what that means and move on with my life?

All jokes aside, I do genuinely have to admire the effort put into A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams) despite (or, god forbid, BECAUSE) of its sources. The core of the rip uses several different Jeffy sources, primarily the bizarrely-real songs performed by the character himself, Wanna See My Pencil and Why?, referencing the characer's main running gags - these are mixed together with other Jeffy-related SML clips to add to the cacophony of noise throughout the rip. Althewhile completely left-field sources are added to..."compliment" the main track - the full-blast sound of Keemstar yelling, the "Nintendo Diss Track", a section played to the tune of Penis Music (dong music, anyone?)...its all so utterly unhinged, yet remains...ominous, in a way, throughout? Like, I have to admit that it does all kind of work, I love the use of WHYYY? for the bridge - but I still can barely even discern what would drive one to gas up JEFFY of all memes to the extent AubyLover29 has done here.

Then again, AubyLover29 in general is a bit of an enigma on the channel - you may have noticed that the title A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams) has absolutely nothing to do with the joke of this rip whatsoever. This is a constant with all of AubyLover29's rips: they're titled around hit character Auby from Omori rather than their actual contents, and her online presence outside of her rip contributions is seemingly completely nonexistent. Its just one more quirk atop this pile of bizarreness - it all reminds me of when I first had to dig into waterwraith pokos all those months ago. Only here, Jeffy's prominence of the channel is gradually becoming less and less of a secret - his rate of appearances has only gone up since A.U.B.R.E.Y (Vagrant Juice and Clams)'s upload, and I fear for what may happen when a takeover inevitably comes. May god help us all.

Probably The Breaking Point, where Jonathan dies before he even reaches Dracula's castle.

A lot of my fics have very happy/sappy endings, but probably the most unabashedly happy one is Love Multiplying.

Fortunately I have gotten only a few snarky comments here and there; the comments are overwhelmingly positive.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Ugh, so much smut. One moment I'm minding my own business, the next moment I'm tearing my hair out trying to write yet another threesome without making it turn out confusing and/or incredibly goofy. My favorite smut is the kind that's the site for dealing with a lot of Big Feelings (even though those are the hardest to write), but I also write fluffy, not-very-serious scenes too.

I've written a few Dracula/Dorian Gray crossovers, which have been a lot of fun!

Not yet.

Not for fanfiction, though I've done a fair amount of cowriting in the past on other kinds of writing projects.

I have a lot of favorites, but Jonathan/Mina has got to be the top! I absolutely adore them as a couple, and more than that, their relationship is a non-negotiable backdrop of every Dracula fic I write. I just can't imagine splitting them up!

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?

I haven't officially given up hope on any of the many (many) fics sitting in my drafts folder, but time will tell. ;)

16. What are your writing strengths?

I feel like I'm pretty good at characterization, especially expanding on what we can glean from a character in canon.

Plot! Plot is so hard for me— every time I write an even remotely plotty fic, I drive myself batty doing it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I'll occasionally put in a word or phrase in a different language, but since I only speak one language, if there's an extended sequence in a different language I'll just italicize the words.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

On Ao3, Dracula, but my very first fic I ever wrote down was a Steven Universe fanfiction (that will never see the light of day). (If you count stories I made up but never wrote down, my first fandom was Disney's 1940 film Pinocchio— when I was a tiny child I remember making up a story about a girl who helped rescue all the boys-turned-donkeys from Pleasure Island. My first fix-it fic!)

I think my favorite overall is Love Multiplying, just because writing it was such a journey and I poured so much love and care into it.

Hello there! I've been reading The Darkening Sky, and absolutely adoring it so far - as well as marveling at how well you develop each of the women! I think I once saw you mention that you have a spread sheet for your characters, and I was wondering if you had any advice for setting one up/organizing one? I'd love to do a fic with a lot of characters, but I am the most unorganized person I know and have no clue where to start. Thank you! (Both for your help, and for sharing your lovely writing with the fandom)

Aw, thanks, Dove! (And thank you for your comments on TDS, they've been so sweet.) I DO have a spreadsheet, mainly because I could. Actually, I have two. I'll talk about both.

The Character Spreadsheet served two purposes. One - as you may or may not know, some of the characters were crowdsourced at the beginning of this project, at least in concept, from friends and internet neighbors, and I wanted a way to keep track of everyone and simple biographic details as I was first starting out. A cast of...I think it was fourteen when I started? is no small feat, and I didn't want to mix people up until they really took root in my mind.

Two - I wanted to see what gaps existed in backstories and biographical details. A lot of people have commented how real some of these characters feel, and I think (I hope!) that's because I really did sit down ahead of time and say 'does this person have siblings? does this person talk to their family? What job did they do before the war?' because all of those things build them out as people, inform their choices, and provide some filler background chatter when they're in a scene.

(In reenacting, this is called 'pocket filler' - as in, the random and historically accurate things you throw in your pockets that you could pull out and talk with visitors about - because your 1943 pockets, or pocketbooks as the case may be, are going to be very different from your 2023 pockets.)

Did I use or reference all of these details? Nope. Did I forget some of it? Absolutely yes. Did some of it change over time? Also absolutely yes. But it was there if I needed it, or got stuck, or needed to brainstorm a little. Headers in the character spreadsheet are as follows, with some editorial notes about why.

The Context Spreadsheet was something that I used to keep the story moving and anchored both in what's going on in the show as well as the wider war. I have a column for the real Easy Company history cribbed from Muccamukk, a column for the war at large, a column for episode numbers, and a column for my chapter numbers.

I am a person who loves spreadsheets in her professional life, so this model came very easily to me - it may not for you, and that's okay! I do think that considering backstory (rather than, say, a characters' favorite color or a lot of other character askbox meme fodder) will always be helpful to you in the larger life of your story.

A good meal! Be it cooked by my dear fiance or going out to a good restaurant, a good meal that truly excites my taste buds is something absolutely unparalleled. Diet or not, you can't beat something freshly cooked!

Theater For those uninitiated, I finished training as an amateur theater instructor. Or something of the sort it's hard to translate. In any case, I do love talking about stageplays, finding new ones and most importantly direct them. Theater is an amazing media and can't ever be replaced by movies or even VR. It's just different!

Snow! I know I am in a minority here, but I do love snow! Always have! It's my favorite thing about winter which in todays climate (HAHAHA ouch;;;)-- well in any case, I always get giddy and happy when I see snow! It's so pretty and a snowy day has such a tranquility to it!

Carnations They are one of my favourite flowers! I actually have a small pot of carnations on my balcony and do my best to keep them healthy and alive hehe ^^

for the context my favorite line written Has to be the one about astarion offering to be her blade, to take on the the dirty work so to speak...something something mirror image of a lionheart knight, but in reverse :'')) he doesn't have to, but that combo of unstated protectiveness/hinted at beginnings of devotion even when he's Not the type to necessarily think about others is very. Chewy to my brain.

i can see it being filmed like a 20-minute mini-episode, with lots of implied pining music in the background even as the main character Insists to themselves that he's moved past such silly feelings like childish sentiment :))

and for the aesthetics of it, i kno it's a cdrama and not a jdrama, but i would love it to have the slightly tragic, color-rich aesthetic of an ancient love song ahhhh

oh gosh. i don't know?? (right now it would have to be astarion :)) but i do like character types who are. hm. not liars specifically, but they say one thing and do another thing (masks/identities/roles), even if they're feelings are telling them something different! schemers...planners. i also do enjoy writing uh. casually kind characters, if that makes sense.

what i cannot feel like i can write well yet are straight up extroverted characters.......it is. too advanced for me right now :''))) (that might explain why i enjoy reading fic about sportsball anime once upon a time, but very rarely Feel the urge to write something for them hahahaha)

another character type i can struggle with a little more are the ones that are ruthless/willing to be cruel since it's hard figuring out where the line between believably ruthless with some crunch for texture and cartoonish evil laughter would be lmao

i do sometimes like writing characters with less?? dialogue?? and just more thoughts, but that can be a problem for characters who enjoy talking overall (like astarion ; w ; )

I got two of these sent to me, but only doing one batch cause I am boring (and literally just got home from work ahaha)

Loved Ones: As typical of an answer this is, it's definately true. Family and friends included, they always find a way to make me happy. Be it sending silly messages or memes, finding a way to perk me up when I'm feeling down, to just... Generally being great people. Don't know what I'd do without them, and I love everyone dearly.

Artistic Endevours: I'm an artist, taking commissions as well as specialising in illustration and character designs! I love being able to sit down and brainstorm ideas, plan something out and work my arse off in making it, or being given a commission with such a fun design brief to work on. This also includes writing! Favourite thing to do is sit and come up with stories and characters, giving them visual designs and then writing proses for them.

My Cats: Oh my God do I love them. Mia and Tizzy, my two beloved tuxedo'd idiots. Outside of doing stuff that makes me laugh, they literally are so perceptive to moods. If I'm sad or feeling ill, they literally will stay by my side, sleep with me, hang around me. Always love to cuddle up and be around me and my family. My heart honestly melts at how Mia always begins purring upon SEEING me, or how Tizzy is so talkative when getting attention of any sort.

Dungeons & Dragons: MEDIA SPOTTED. Nah for real though, it's not just the game itself that I love (I actually have dyscalculia so the maths part of it I hate, thank God I play online), but a lot of the creativity surrounding it. I love the roleplay, being a part of a story with a group of others who also love worldbuilding, having your own character plot and goals to follow, the writing, the art you can make. It's like being in your own TV show, where everyone participating is the main character. Aformentioned close friends are all who I play with! Been playing D&D since 2018, but been in my forever group for about 6 years now, one campaign done and still at the start of a new one! Also despite purely playing online, I'm a horrific dice collector.......

Being A Homebody: Sure, I love going out and being with friends and travelling, but there's something about either coming home from a day out or getting up and knowing that you are free to not go anywhere... Having everything you need in one place, staying comfortable, warm, secure. No commitments, no worries, only relaxation! It's been nice lately to be able to clean and decorate my own room and make it my own space, getting to relax and play games on my monster of a PC to my hearts content but still being connected to other people when the social need arises.

But yeah, I love my friends and I'm happy to be surrounded by such lovely, encouraging and supportive people (I do tend to close off to myself sometimes but they help me express myself more) and I am extremely glad I got the opportunity to have such a special bond with them. Fun Fact: I apparently have a 'plan', a pattern to make friends and that is "throwing bait" 😂.

And it is random because I don't do so deliberately. For example, with @ilicon, he heard me during a lesson back in high-school saying "are you sure about that?" - John cena meme. With @wingsofhcpe, I happened to be talking about anime and a comiccon with my friends at uni and they came over to talk to us (brave, I would remain in my spot stalking). With another friend from uni and these last days with a new girl- I happened to write in the uni's group chat that I was reading a fanfiction and have watched pitbabe respectively.

It is inevitable cause everytime I'm listening to music, I always move one way or another even if I'm sitting down. Dancing in either my room or in the living room when no one is home, making/learning choreos as if I'm a singer/idol.

I was part of dancing teams, the majority being traditional Greek dances at my schools but the last two years I did Latin and tango. I'm sad I had to stop but oh well.

Oooooh, an activity! Love those. Greatly appreciate.

1. An early night. You know the kind. When everything has been just exhausting, when you get home and maybe have a lazy snack, kick your shoes off, claw off the bra and the jewelry, wash the face with warm water or find courage for a whole shower, and then just crawl into nice sheets and Exist for a while in peace. Maybe read or watch something, scroll through comrade's blogs and memes. And the best part, you think you've wasted time and stayed up too long despite everything, and then you check the time and it's a wholesome 10:07 pm and you turn off the light and fall asleep and the world seems decent for one night. I am criminally bad in arranging those for myself.

2. Some sort of a creature I get to see. A dog being walked. A cat chilling on the windowsill. An butterfly doing her thing. Some crows that hang out near my bus stop every morning. A ladybug on a leaf, snail on a fence post. Another dog being walked. Surprisingly, a horse being led past my front window (? i'm still not sure why but hey, a creature). Bumblee butt sticking out of a flower. Seagull on the head of a statue: classic. Horse part of the horse drawn carriage as a tourist attraction in the city center. Pigeons. Once back in winter, on a freezing morning after an even more freezing night, I saw two seagulls trying SO HARD to break into a completely frozen discarded slice of pizza, probably someone's dinner from last night. One of them was grabbing it by the crust and shaking its head violently to break it apart, at some point slapping its mate with the said pizza across the beak. Peak comedy.

3. When it's raining and picking up to a thunderstorm and you get to stay home. Perfect no plans Saturday weather. You get your little bowl of soup and your cup of tea and it gets 'worse' outside, maybe the wind even tears your cracked window wide open (yeah I keep my window open during thunderstorms and I will die on this well ventilated hill). And you don't have plans, nothing pressing anyway, you can just sit and enjoy this. Extremely pleasant stuff.

4. A nice outfit on my favorite me. I mean, I have a streak of vanity, not gonna lie, and I enjoy the aesthetics. Feeling nice, looking nice, making something in the wardrobe work, this small act of creation of an image of self – it's nice. It doesn't exist in vacuum of course and there's some baggage to unpack there, but it still makes me happy when dress pretty and hair sets good.

5. Libraries. I know I know, nerd tumblerette answer, but genuinely. I've never seen a library I didn't like, be it a small town one with no copies of Marx or big Historical Importance one with columns and hard wooden floors. The atmosphere itself is an instant calm. Usually very nice muted noise level. Smell of books and books and books. Feels like time stands still, like the world is decent again. Books ranging from stupid to lifechanging and you get to prticipate in figuring out which is which.

Putting all of the above together, it must mean if I could be in a library while wearing a nice outfit, with a creature like a cat at the fingertips, a thunderstorm raging outside and a bed also present in the library to have an early night in right there – I would probably have an orgasm.

Since I still don't know if I am going to post the Reggie POV tie in to A Matter of Time, have this definitley not a snippet of it.

Luke sullenly sat at one of the cafeteria tables, staring off, barely poking at the food in front of him. Who knew where his mind was. Reggie was just surprised to see him at school in the first place. “Hey man.” Reggie greeted plastering his best smile on. “Why so grumpy?” “Got stuck with a writing partner in Humanities.” Luke mumbled, eyes still looking off at nothing. “The world must surely be ending.” Alex said full of sarcasm as he joined them at the table. “Luke Patterson, actually having to work with someone on a group project, say it isn’t so.” Luke shot a quick glare and not so subtle middle finger at Alex before his eyes focused back into the middle distance.  “Who is this poor soul so that I may extend my condolences?” Bobby said as he sat down.  “Some new girl who transferred in today.” Luke pouted. “That her there in the flannel.” Bobby asked, using his chin to point in the same direction Luke had been consistently scowling in.  Reggie followed the gesture and caught sight of a familiar plum colored flannel. He hadn’t noticed all the black striping that’d been added to the back of it before. Oh, she was new…and sitting alone. That had to suck. So, Luke hadn’t just been staring off into the distance. He’d been staring at her, which was something. Reggie’s never seen Luke focus on anything that long that wasn’t music related in, well, ever. “Yeah that’s her.” Luke said, his tone not nearly as sour as his face was. “Julie Molina.” “Maybe we should ask if she wants to sit with us.” The words tumbled out of Reggie’s mouth as the thought formed in his head. At Luke’s affronted look the rest of his thought process soon followed. “I mean, no one else seems to be sitting with her. And if she’s new she might not have any friends yet.” “Yeah, all right.” Luke said, grabbing his tray and heading towards her table. With a quick exchange of bemused but exhausted looks with Bobby and Alex, they soon followed after him. She looked absolutely stunned when Alex asked, “These seats taken?” Bewilderment that only grew when Luke sat across from her before she’d even answered. Reggie sat beside her, and Bobby blocked her attempt to shrink into the other corner of the table.  “You looked like you could use some company.” Bobby said, with one of his casual smiles. “I’m fine.” “You sure? You look nervous as hell.” Alex chimed in now that he’d sat down, after his brief grumblings to the ceiling. “Right. Because it’s so unusual to be nervous around four cute strange boys who take over your lunch table without warning.” Julie grumbled under her breath, not really looking at any of them. “Oh, you think we’re cute?” Reggie asked, a familiar fond warmth blooming in his chest. Barely just learned her name but excited all the same at being called cute. And there’s that startled look from her again, causing Reggie’s smile to deflate slightly. It deflated even more with her eye roll and head shake, she focused all of her attention down and away from them. Reggie almost regretted suggesting they talk to her. She’s clearly not interested.  “So, March’s a weird time to transfer schools isn’t it?” Luke said, the first thing he’s said to her since sitting down. Julie’s pout shifted as she glanced up at Luke, and ooooh, maybe she’s just not interested in the rest of them. That wouldn’t be a surprise. Luke was the only one at this point unaware of how many people pine over him on the regular. Many had tried and failed to get with Luke Patterson.  Then again Reggie’s never really seen Luke smile like that with anyone else. And Julie wasn’t even flirting. Somehow the conversation had shifted to his and Julie’s writing project and turned into some brainstorming session. A topic Reggie thought for sure would be just the two of them, but they’d managed to drag him, Alex, and Bobby into it as well.

First impression: calling myself out rn but not only because i am a Woman Lover but also bc i just love blondes i knew i would love her…….. i knew she would be based Impression now: but i had no idea HOW BASED!!! she really is so insanely funny and headstrong. she is so much more than u could ever anticipate Favorite moment: so many to choose from like "HEERO!! Idea for a story: can i please have like an insane family dinner with heero&relena and zechs post-canon. i find any kind of sibling relationships lovely esp when you throw in their significant other into the mix in an in-laws kinda setting its SO funny. wonderful. also i just really want to see her interact with zechs more, ALSO i would like to see more of their early childhood…. Unpopular opinion: APPARENTLY LIKING HER??? she's the coolest ever all relena haters are INVALID Favorite relationship: OH YOU KNOW IT!!!! HEERO… heero is such a handful but the thing is, so is relena. she is SO much more insane than one can ever imagine from just seeing a picture of her with no context. the only person who can handle heero and vice versa. THAT SAID, her dynamic with dorothy is also insane and very funny. i stan a crazy bisexual Favorite headcanon: i know it's confirmed she's north european but i think it's super funny if she's swedish particularly. she's sitting down and eating janssons frestelse with zechs and heero for that family dinner

First impression: this guy's hair is really 90s and he is so slavic coded. also remember when i asked you "is the clown thing a term of endearment or is he really a clown". YEAH <3 Impression now: I LOVE HIM. HE IS LIKE A SON-IN-LAW TO ME. PRECIOUS CHARACTER i like him very much and you definitely endeared me to him even before i watched wing and moreso after i did!!! also he really is a clown. by occupation. for real. Favorite moment: ok i don't know if this is my all time favorite but i think a lot about that scene where dorothy and quatre are both hurt and trowa just picks up quatre and leaves. without dorothy. so funny. sorry #feminism but quatre is basically a woman (not in a haha feminine man way but like actually) but. it was so funny. love Idea for a story: sorry for the shipper brain but i still really want that 3x4 1xR double date so badly. it would be so awkward and based. both because i think both of these couples are true loves and also because i think putting anyone in the same room with heero and relena is hilarious. Unpopular opinion: i will be honest i don't know enough about wing fandom besides what you've told me? but um. he is NOT british i can say that much… whoever thinks that. sorry but its just not right it goes against my personal beliefs Favorite relationship: QUATRE/TROWA OBVIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!
