season 4 of andi mack for:
-character development
• andi on not being selfish. she always goes over other people's feelings: bex, bowie, cyrus, jonah, etc. she's young and went through a lot of family and love life drama but she still needs to learn to think about other's feelings.
• cyrus. he's clearly insecure and buffy and andi dont really do anything about it? in my eyes at least. tj is already helping him on that :) i feel like cy needs to stand up for himself more and also not idolizing people (jonah)
• jonah. he is treated kinda bad by andi (her not really caring about his problems) but it does seem like he subconsciously use his relationship as coping mechanisms. i think him being single for a bit and working on himself, his anxiety, his feelings, his family, it would be a lot better for him.
•amber working on herself and what she did in the past to andi, jonah, etc. also focusing on her home life more.
• and more of course!
(personally i dont like kira like... at all so i don't even think of any redemption towards her honestly)
note: i love all of them, i think if they were actually CONFRONTED on their problems they would do their best to fix them
-relationships (tyrus, muffy+)
-ships (ambi, wonah+)
-friendships (cyrus and iris, tj and buffy, marty and tj, amber and cyrus, buffy and jonah, jonah and amber, jonah and cyrus, jonah and tj, KIPPEN SIBLINGS amber and tj, etc.)
•they (writers) should have let cyrus tell iris he was gay
-LGBTQ+
•coming out to parents/school/friends
•andi pan, amber realizing she is a lesbian, jonah bi
-old character comebacks
•reed and lester????
•iris, libby, walker, brittany?
-old rivals????? (maybe honestly idk if i can handle that torture again)
•kira
•rachel
-andi at sava! (walker-and maybe libby- there too?
-MORE SONGS PLEASE
-a lot more i cant type it all out right now
-healing the andi mack fandom please we are desperate and sad give us more content please--
ALL PERSONAL OPINIONS PLEASE DONT KILL ME OR SOMETHING >~<

I've seen so many trans!Tj fics so can you do trans!Cyrus?
So I really liked this prompt(I mean like as a trans non-binary person, any excuse to shamelessly include more trans characters is great. <3) I hope you like the story!

TJ opened his front door to find his best friend standing in the rain, looking seconds away from falling apart.  He instinctively pulled the brown eyed boy into his arms (and out of the storm.) As he hugged him he whispered “Underdog? What happened?” TJ knew that his clothes are going to be soaked from holding the rain drenched Cyrus, but he doesn’t care. He never has when it came to that boy.

“Reed…” was all that Cyrus could managed to push across his teeth. It came out muffled as Cyrus’ face was buried in the taller boy’s shoulder.

A flash of red crossed TJ’s eyes as anger started to fill his head. He should of guessed. It’s always Reed. Cyrus and Reed had been dating on and off since their freshmen year. TJ had hoped by now, more than three years later, that Cyrus would stop going back to him. It was a constant cycle. Reed would hurt and break Cyrus down, and TJ would always be there to put back the pieces of his shattered friend. But then like clockwork, Reed would weasel his way back into the picture. He would do some grand gesture and Cyrus would forgive him.

Honestly, TJ believed that Cyrus was too nice for his own good. He always wanted to see the best in everyone. But it gets him hurt so often. TJ has never hated anyone as much as he hates Reed. How could anyone ever make this beautiful brunette feel so bad? How could Reed make him cry like this? A thought crosses TJ’s mind briefly. "If I was with Cyrus, I would never make him cry…”

TJ must have been shaking in anger, because Cyrus pulls slightly away from the hug. “Teej…”

“I’m sorry. I just hate that he hurt you again…”

Cyrus looks down, refusing to meet the green eyes boring into him. “Yea….I think it’s really over this time.”

TJ bites his bottom lip, forcing the words he want to say to stay in his mouth. He wants to believe Cyrus that it is really over but is having trouble with that. Cyrus has said that before. Fuck. Why does his friend love such an asshole? Why can’t Cyrus see how much he loves him. How he would never make him feel bad. How he would cherish everyday with him. But he can’t say this out loud, not now at least. So  he chokes out “What happened?” instead.

Cyrus feels his breath catch in his throat. He whimpers "Can we get out of the doorway, first?"

TJ nods and heads to the steps leading upstairs. Cyrus follows him having been in this house a million times. They move softly past Amber's closed bedroom door. She is on a date with Andi. The Kippen siblings' parents are both working 3rd shift tonight so they are alone in the house.

They soon reach the bedroom Cyrus has sat in many nights before, crying on TJ's shoulder over some new terrible thing Reed has done. When TJ closes the door behind them, he walks to his closet. He pulls out a pair of sweatpants and white T-shirt and throws them over to his friend.

He cracks a smile "Here, dry clothes, you look like a wet rat."

He manages to get a small laugh out of that from the other boy as he takes the clothes. TJ looks away as Cyrus changes, looking back in time to only see a small glimpse of the tiny scars from Cyrus' top surgery a year prior.

He thinks back to that time for a moment. Reed had barely come by while he recovered. Everyone else had been there a lot and TJ practically moved in. He was there everyday even when Cyrus told him he didn't have to "waste" all his time with him. But Reed kept making excuses and Cyrus accepted them. He accepted them every damn time. He pushes the thoughts away, he doesn't want to get more upset.

He focuses back on the boy who is now sitting crossed leg on the floor, leaning his back on TJ's bed. TJ's heart breaks at the site of the puffy red eyes and broken face staring up at him. He steps closer before taking a seat next to his best friend. He wraps his arm around Cyrus' shoulder and pulls him close, waiting patiently for him to be ready to talk.

"I caught him cheating..." Cyrus finally says breaking the silence.

TJ's grip around Cyrus gets tighter. He can't believe anyone would cheat on the amazing person sitting next him. What makes this worse though, is that this isn't even the first time Reed has cheated. The first time was sophomore year when he made out with this girl Andrea at some game. The second time was with Lester of all people. And now he has done it again. The blond whispers, "I'm so, so sorry Cyrus..."

"Its my own fault..." Cyrus says in a defeated voice. "I should of known better than to take him back again..."

"This isn't on you, Cy...you are just a nice person who can be too trusting at times. I love that about you." TJ smiles softly.

Cyrus turns to look towards the wall to the side of them. "Well it definitely over this time."

"Wanna talk about it?"

A tear wells up again in Cyrus' eye as he nods. He shakily begins to recount what happened an hour prior.

~~~~~~~~~~~
He and and his now ex-boyfriend had been cuddling on the couch in Reed's living room. Cyrus had his head on the other boy's shoulder, lazily scrolling through Instagram. His heart dropped when he saw a picture that Reed had been tagged in.
Reed had visited a college last weekend. Well apparently it wasn't just informational. The picture showed him obviously at a frat party, with some guy kissing on his neck. Cyrus immediately pulls away.
"Hey? What's wrong baby?" Reed scrunches up his eyebrows in confusion. In response, Cyrus hands him the phone. When he looks down at the picture, he gets a guilty look on his face.
"Cy..." he says quietly.
"Don't 'Cy' me. What is going on in this picture? Who is this guy?"
"He was just some random guy I met at a party I went to when I did the college overnight ..."
"Well why is this random guy kissing MY boyfriend?" Cyrus chokes out, trying to appear like his heart didn't feel like Reed stepped on it.
"Cyrus, I'm so sorry. It was a dumb party and there was drinking and you know how it is with guys sometimes? Like sometimes things just happen."
"No, that's not an excuse!" Cyrus' voice gets louder. "Guys can control their actions, even hormonal teenage boys! I have never cheated on you!"
The yelling causes Reed to yell back. Without thinking he yells "You wouldn't understand! You aren't even a real...!" He stops when he realizes what is about to leave his mouth.
Cyrus takes an oddly calm, shallow breath. He prods. "A real what?"
"Cyrus..."
"A real what, Reed? A real guy?"
"I...I didn't say that." Reed tries to defend.
Cyrus closes his eyes momentarily. When he opens them again, tears are falling down his face. "You didn't have to say it...I know what you meant. I thought you were one of the few people who actually accepted me 100% without a doubt. I was wrong. " Reed tries to reach for Cyrus' hand but is rejected.
With that, Cyrus turned and ran out of the house into the rain. Reed called after him but he did not stop. He didn't stop running until his body instinctively led him to TJ's door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I'm going to kick his fucking ass..." TJ spit out. He has never wanted to do something more.

"Teej, please don't. He isn't worth it..." Cyrus pleads softly as he turns his head awkwardly to meet TJ's face for the first time in a while.

TJ responds by whispering. "Okay...but Cy, you know what he said wasn't true, right?"

Cyrus feels a pange of sadness radiate from his chest. In a voice that TJ has to strain to hear, he whimpers "I guess...it’s just..." he voice becomes overrun by sharp sobs he can't control. His cheeks were stained with tears as he tries to continue. "I'm so stupid..."

TJ turns so he can throw both arms around his hurting friend. "No...no you're not..." He traces soothing circles over Cyrus' back.

"TJ, I...I am." He continues to cry as he speaks. "Part of me is so scared that no one will ever really love me....like the whole me. The reason I kept taking Reed back was because I thought... despite whatever he did...I thought, he at least didn't see me as some freak. I thought he saw me like he would see any cis guy... But I was wrong." Cyrus can't talk anymore. The tears overwhelmed him, and he is burying his face into the other boy's shoulder. He notices the vague scent of citrus that always seemed to radiate off TJ's skin.

TJ pulls him closer somehow, holding on so tight that he was threatening never to let go. "I'm so sorry...I'm sorry..."

Cyrus lifts his head slightly, staying in the jock's arms. " I should be apologizing for ruining your night with my drama...I'm sorry...and..thank you..."

"No problem Cy...but please don't apologize.  You could never ruin my night..."

Cyrus felt his heart skip a beat as his words got caught in the back of his throat. The feelings that he always tried to suppress for his best friend came bubbling up. It was hard not to want TJ especially when he was being so sweet and kind. But Cyrus had been dating Reed so he always ignored the way he felt for TJ.

But...now he is single...maybe he could....

TJ noticed how Cyrus had seemingly zoned out. "Muffin...what are you thinking about?"

Cyrus blushes at the familiar nickname. He is hoping TJ can't tell through the redness and tear streaks from crying. He answers in a hesitant voice. "You actually... I don't know how I got so lucky to have you in my life...Like I've never had someone I care about so much. Don't get me wrong, I love Jonah, and Marty, and Amber, and of course Buffy and Andi...but with you its different. When I came here, I wasn't consciously thinking about it. My body just brought me here, like you were the only person I wanted to talk to after what happened."

Now it was TJ's turn to blush and it was very obvious as he smiles down at the floor, arms still around his the cute, awkward, sweet, dork he has loved since the 7th grade.  He looks back up, eyelids fluttering for a moment before making eye contact with Cyrus.

"You make me want to be around you, Cyrus. You are just the best person I know. And...and...I hate Reed so much. And a big part of the reason why was because I didn't like how he would always hurt you. You didn't deserve that." He pauses briefly trying to decide if he was going to continue. But Cyrus stares at him intently, so he continues.. "But a small part of me hates him for another reason. I'm jealous of him. He got to be your boyfriend and I was just the best friend. And I love being that to you, I really do. But also...I wanted to be the one who got to hold your hand, the one to take you on dates, to kiss you... I would never make you feel bad about who you are. I love every part of you. I would never hurt you. I would never take you for granted, Underdog.”

“TJ…” Cyrus whispers. “Do…do you mean that?”

“Cyrus, why do you think I have never dated anyone? Its not like I’m short on options. “ TJ smirks playfully. But Cyrus knows he is right.  The other gay guys(and of course girls) fawn over TJ. Who could blame them though? TJ keeps on. “I just have only had eyes for one person, but up until now they were taken.” TJ lean forward, face inches from Cyrus’. “God, you are so cute.”
Cyrus meet TJ’s gaze nervously.  “Really? Even though I’m…”

TJ cuts him off before he can finish. “Yes of course. That doesn’t matter to me, you know that. It never has.”

Cyrus blushes. “TJ, I think…no I know. I love you so much…not just love you. I am in love with you”

TJ practically chokes on the breathe he didn’t even know he was holding. He gives the other boy a little smile that tells Cyrus that TJ is just as much in love with him.  The basketball player reaches his hand out, cupping the brunette’s cheek. He softly asks. “Can you kiss me?”

Cyrus bites his bottom lip before nodding. He leans forward slowly and gently places his lips against TJ’s. It feels delicate and soft, almost like he is afraid to break TJ into a million pieces. He knows that this is his friend’s first kiss. When he pulls away, TJ is smiling at him like he has just seen him in a brand new light. The taller boy whispers “Thank you…for that…for making that happen for us.” The more words that leave his mouth, the redder he gets.

“No problem, Teej…and if you want, we can do that more often.” Cyrus winks.

“I think I would like that…” TJ replies before pulling Cyrus into his arms. Something tells Cyrus that he doesn’t plan to let go anytime soon.

Chapter One
Tumblr media
- Banner by the amazing @punzellies -
Summary: TJ Kippen walks through life looking out for number one because nobody else seemed to. When an unlikely friendship sparks new feelings, TJ’s outlook on everything begins to change.
Note: This is an AU. Most of this will be explained in the story but a here’s a quick summary of the main changes: TJ and Cyrus met during the muffin scene but never reconnected after that. The kids are now all in high school. GHC and co. are sophomores whilst Amber and Iris are juniors.
(read on ao3)
Chapter One
Word Count: 1662
✗ ✗ ✗
It’s the last day of summer vacation before TJ officially becomes a student at Grant High School. To round off the break in a way that poetically reflects how the summer has gone for TJ, the rain pours down outside.
TJ sits alone at a table situated at the back of The Spoon in a position where he can see everyone in the diner without anyone really noticing him. TJ has his headphones plugged in but with the music low enough that he could still clearly hear everything going on around him. TJ often did this, he liked to be aware but he also wore them because it tended to make people leave him alone.
Even though TJ could hear everything clearly, he still pretends like he didn’t notice his cousin approach the table. It’s not until she forcefully yanks the cord - pulling the headphones from TJ’s ears completely - that he looks up from his phone.
“What do you want, Amber?” TJ grumbles.
“Nice to see you too, cousin.” Amber exaggerates her smile. “I was on my break and I didn’t see you come in.” Amber explains.
“I didn’t think you were working, if I’d known you were, I wouldn't have come in.” TJ exaggerates his smile too, mimicking his cousin.
“Did you come from work?” Amber asks, choosing to ignore TJ’s jerky behaviour.
“No, I wear this for fun.” TJ quips sarcastically as he motions to his Jackson Street Gym t-shirt. “I was walking home but it started raining.”
“Wasn’t your mom picking you up today?” Amber questions, continuing to ignore his snarkiness.
“I guess she forgot me.” TJ shrugs, “That’s been happening a lot lately.”
"Maybe Aunt Tess was just busy,” Amber smiles sympathetically, “I finish work in an hour, want me to drive you home? I could try slip you some free fries while you wait.”
“I don’t want your sympathy fries or your ride home.” TJ rejects grumpily.
“I’m just trying to be nice. No need to be such a jerk about it.” Amber huffs. “Walk home in the rain. See if I care.”
TJ did just that, staunching out of the diner with a huff of his own. Luckily for the teen though, the rain had started to clear up so the walk wasn’t actually too bad. Eventually it stopped completely and the sun even poked through the gray clouds.
With the weather change, TJ decides to walk through the park even though it adds an extra five minutes onto his trip. As TJ is passing the swing set he spots a somewhat familiar face singing a mopey song as he swings.
TJ usually ignored this kind of thing and kept to himself or he’d be the kind of guy to poke fun at it and he kind of does just that when he approaches and comments, “Nice song, what do you sing when you’re on the slide?”
The boy stops swinging and answers with another rhyme, to which TJ can’t help but let out a faint laugh as he hadn’t actually expected him to have a song.
“I know you,” TJ says a little uncertain, “Chocolate, chocolate chip muffin right?”
“And you’re scary basketball guy.” He says with a hint of a smile on his confused face.
TJ’s expression drops, although the boy had said it with a smile it felt like an insult nonetheless. “Actually, TJ.”
“I know. Cyrus.” He points to himself. “I can’t believe you remember the muffin thing, that was like two years ago.”
TJ shrugs it off casually. “Didn’t you move to London or something?”
“It was more in the country.” Cyrus explains, “But basically yeah. I’m back now though. For good.”
“When did you get back?” TJ asks.
“Today.” Cyrus beams.
“And your first stop was the park?” TJ raises a brow.
“Swinging makes me feel better about things.” Cyrus admits.
“You’re not happy to be back?” TJ questions.
“More anxious.” Cyrus explains. “I’m kind of battling with a big decision.”
“Like what shirt you’re going to wear for the first day?” TJ playfully teases.
“Please,” Cyrus coaxes his head with a smirk, “I decided that two weeks ago.”
TJ chuckles but eventually the laughter fades, he looks at Cyrus with a subtly curious expression, “So does it help?” TJ asks. “The swinging?”
“It helps me.” Cyrus nods, “Why don't you try?” He suggests, “It could just be the rain dampened look but you kinda seem like you need it.”
TJ considered just walking away, he had already stayed longer than he planed - which was not at all - but before he even realised what he was doing, TJ took to the swing beside Cyrus.
TJ begins kicking his legs back and forth, the momentum builds and he’s quickly swinging high, a smile building on his face, “Wow, this does kinda make me feel better.”
“I told you,” Cyrus smiles as he swings at a slower pace. “There’s something about feeling like a kid that makes your problems feel not so important. What do you need to feel better about anyway?”
“You don't know me. I got stuff.” TJ swings.
“Betcha I got more stuff.” Cyrus almost jokes.
“Betcha I can swing higher.” TJ challenges.
“I’m afraid to swing high, that’s part of my stuff.” Cyrus admits.
TJ continues to try and bait Cyrus into swinging higher but when the boy continues to reject the idea, TJ jumps off his swing and a childhood game ensues.
“That was exhilarating!” Cyrus exclaims and TJ watches Cyrus’ swing slow with a smile.
“Feel better about your upcoming decision yet?” TJ questions.
“I think so.” Cyrus laughs, “How about you, do you feel better?”
“Yeah. I really do.” TJ smiles, swinging really had made him feel better but acknowledging that out loud again changed TJ’s mood, like a subconscious reminder went off about how he shouldn't feel that way. His expression drops, “I should probably get going.”
“You don’t have to.” Cyrus stops his swinging completely.
“I still have to decide what shirt to wear.” TJ jokes.
“Avoid red.” Cyrus continues the bit, “I find it too angry for a first day.”
TJ lets his laugh taper off, “Thanks for reminding me about swinging.”
“You’re welcome.” Cyrus nods. “See you at school tomorrow, not so scary basketball guy?”
“Sure thing, underdog.” TJ says almost sarcastically and it wasn’t meant in a malicious way, TJ just couldn’t imagine they’d have much reason to be in each others lives after this.
After the swings, TJ makes his way home and on the way it began to lightly rain, getting him all damp again. TJ enters his apartment quietly, gently placing his keys on the hook by the door.
“Teej, is that you?” His mothers voice trails down the hall.
“Yeah, it’s me.” TJ calls back. Silently he wonders what his mom would do if it wasn’t him. The chances of the person at the door -letting themselves in- being someone else were slim, after all it was just the two of them that lived there.
“I’m in the kitchen.” Tess announces.
TJ zips up his still slightly damp jacket and finds his mom as promised, in the kitchen, stacks of boxes scattered about.
“Sweets, you’re all damp.” Tess points out with a confused expression. “Has it been raining today?”
“A bit.” TJ nods casually.
“Where have you been all day?” Tess questions, “You shouldn’t be out in the rain, you can’t afford to get sick with high school just beginning.”
“It’s fine, I was inside.” TJ states.
Realisation crosses over his mothers face and her expression falls to guilt, “I was supposed to pick you up from work.” Tess slaps her palm to her forehead. “Why didn't you call me?”
“I figured you forgot.” TJ shrugs. “It’s okay, I don’t mind walking.”
“Teej, I’m so sorry.” Tess apologises, “I didn’t mean to forget. I got distracted-”
“Packing up our life, I know.” TJ cuts in bitterly.
“Teej,” Tess frowns, “I know you don’t want to move but it’s not like it’s across the country. You’ll still be right here in Shadyside. The house will be bigger and there’s yard space. I’ll make sure you can set up a hoop right in the backyard.”
“I don’t care about a big house or a stupid hoop.” TJ snaps, “This is our home, mom. Our memories are here.”
“Sweets, those memories will always be with you.” Tess soothes, “You don’t need this tiny apartment to keep them alive.”
“You’re right, so why bother keeping half this junk anyway?” TJ angrily pushes a  box off the counter and dishes smash in the aftermath.
“TJ!” Tess gasps.
“I’m going to my room.” TJ states.
“Dinner will be here soon, I ordered pizza.” Tess tries to defuse her sons anger.
“I’m not hungry.” TJ grumbles as he leaves his upset looking mother behind him.
TJ retreats into his room tossing his wet jacket and shirt to the side before putting on something dry. Just as he pulls the new sweatshirt over his head he catches a glimpse of something on his desk. It’s a new set of pencils with a post it note attached that reads, ‘love mom’ with a simple stick figure drawing of the two of them. TJ smiles at the gift and basic drawing, he had been needing new pencils for a while now. The thoughtful gift made him feel guilty for being such a jerk to his mother but TJ was stubborn and still angry that he was being forced to move so he stands firm about hiding away in his room for the evening.
TJ flops down at this desk, his unfinished summer reading staring him right in the face but instead of picking up the syllabus, he reaches for his new pencils and his old sketchpad.
The time ticks by and as the sun sets on the final day of summer break, TJ fills the page with a drawing of two boys on a swing.

End Notes (pls read): Okay just a short little chapter to get us started. The next one is longer, I promise :)
I noted a few changes at the top but here are a couple more changes explained further that were mentioned in the chapter;
- Kippen cousins (kinda):
I am not really a Kippen sibling fan. I like the HC, it’s fun but too far from cannon for me personally. But!! I like the idea of their grumpy dynamic so I’m using it but putting my own spin on it - therefore cousins rather than siblings. (Also not having Amber be his sister works a lot better for this story).
TJ’s mom and Amber’s dad are brother and sister. Amber’s last name is Brown (as some people tag her as such I can’t remember where this last name came from tbh.. I think it was Josh?). TJ’s mom’s maiden name is Brown but TJ is Kippen because of his father. Hope that’s easy enough to follow :)
- Cyrus moved to England
Soon after the muffin escapes and before their on screen swing set scene, Cyrus moved to England. Cyrus attended a fancy boarding school but more on that in future chapters.
Since Cyrus moved away, TJ and him never really bonded fully after the muffin scene. This change will have impacted both their lives (as I’m a firm believer that people impact who we become) so you will see changes - or changes that never happened - with both of them.
OKAY. There will be a few tweaks to canon here and there but you should all be able to follow along each chapter easily enough!!
Now to address, swing set new.0; I wasn’t even going to have TJ and Cyrus re-meet this chapter - I had a sort of different prologue planned but scrapped it - and their re-meet was never planned to be on the swings again but I do believe in fate and the swings really sparked their bond so I wanted to revisit that in my story whilst expanding on it to fit their new character dynamics.
I would like to mention that whilst some parts of my story might include canon tyrus moments reimagined, I won't just be rewriting canon. I plan to incorporate the canon tyrus essence into this story but this story is something new and different. It will not be the tyrus we know but in high school.
SOOOO, that’s a lot more wordy than usual for my end notes! Yikes!
I hope you enjoyed this first instalment! More to come! :) I don’t have a planned posting schedule but I hope to release one chapter a week at least!! So ask about the tag list to keep updated! :)
Please let me know your thoughts, likes, reblogs, replies - they are all welcomed and very much appreciated!

Damn math.
"So, you're going to help me?" he asked, just for confirmation.
Cyrus chuckled and passed his hand through his hair, trying to settle his dark tuft. "Yes, of course. Do we meet tomorrow in the library just after school?"
TJ raised an eyebrow. "Library?"
"Yes, it is that room full of books and tables where you go to study in holy peace."
The blond laughed, slightly bumping their shoulders, but still making the moor a little unbalanced. "I know what a library is, Underdog."
The other laughed, and TJ noticed that when Cyrus smiled, his eyes were shining. "I just wanted to make sure." TJ smiled in response. "Then... library?" asked Cyrus again.
"I was thinking more about my house, actually."
The moor carried his right hand to his chest and made a surprised face. "Do I have this honor?"
TJ nodded and put his arm around his shoulders, clutching it for a moment before letting him go. "Later, Underdog," he said, before rushing to the literary class.
The next day, having the last period off, TJ waited for Cyrus out of the English class to return home with him. When he saw his best friend leave the classroom at the ring of the bell, TJ flanked him with a smile that was typical of him when Cyrus was nearby. "Hey!" he exclaimed.
Cyrus smiled, noticing him. "Hey," he replied immediately. "Ready for the extra lesson?" TJ nodded not convinced. "One question: why didn't you ask Buffy to help you? I mean, she's your tutor, isn't she?"
TJ bit his lower lip. "She's busy with... other things," he lied. Would he ever have the courage to tell Cyrus the truth? He just wanted to spend more time with him - was that so wrong? "Plus, you have a lot more patience."
Cyrus chuckled and nodded. "That's definitely true." They walked out of the school between the chatter of the students around them and reached TJ's home, who lived right nearby, in an instant. The blonde noticed Cyrus' curiosity and perplexity when, upon entering the apartment, he noticed photos of the Kippen siblings as children or photos of TJ as a child on a stage with a certificate in his hand.
Cyrus pointed to the photo taken in memory of his first concert. "How old were you here?" he asked, curiously.
"Five" TJ remembered that day as if only two had passed. He was so nervous about performing in public for the first time that he had reviewed the score at least a thousand times. When it was his turn to go on stage, his master had encouraged him by giving him light buffets on his shoulder. TJ, who was just under six feet tall, had looked down on his mentor from below: his eyes on the stage, his beard curly, his skin dark. He had calmed down at that sight, sighed, and came out into the spotlight more confident than he had ever been, waiting for the initial applause to go out. He then began to play the first notes of the song he had learned for the recital. He had missed a few notes, of course, but what was most important was that he had never stopped and that he had made his parents, his sister, and his teacher proud. In the photo, he smiled boldly, but it was only because he felt extremely happy with his progress.
"So, you play an instrument?" asked Cyrus, raising an eyebrow – TJ was envious of that ability, because he either raised both eyebrows or none - and crossing his arms, almost demanding explanations.
TJ nodded. If spending more time with Cyrus meant revealing his darker secrets, he would even reveal his real name. "The piano. I have a piano in my room if you want to know."
Cyrus was astonished by the information. "Oh," he said only. Then he smiled sincerely. "I didn't expect you to answer me for real. You wouldn't have done it a few months ago."
The homeowner shrugged his shoulders: Cyrus had that effect on him, even though he didn't know. "Do you think I'm a better person?" he asked, looking at the photo. He felt the moor's gaze on him, and when he did not feel it anymore, he turned in his direction. Cyrus was intent on studying the other photos on the wall and TJ couldn't deny that with that look captured by a story not his without words Cyrus was really very nice.
His friend turned to look at him before TJ could look away; he felt himself blush, caught red-handed. "I think so."
They looked at each other for a few moments and TJ didn't move a muscle. He didn't even smile so as not to ruin the moment. The outside noises seemed like they disappeared, while TJ could hear the wheels in his mind spinning madly like a hamster in a wheel.
Cyrus opened his mouth to talk and came out with a "Shall we start studying?" very nervous. TJ bit his lower lip and nodded bitterly. He made way to the moor to his room through the kitchen and corridor and watched Cyrus react to the sight of his room. The walls were aquamarine, and the white furniture popped from the walls like starfish among colored shells – at the sight of the small bookcase, Cyrus looked up and approached to see what books his friend had read. A full-length mirror was even hung on one wall near the floor.
"Why don't you share your room with Amber?" he asked, still looking around.
TJ shrugged his shoulders for a moment. "I wouldn't stand my sister rummaging through my drawers too: isn't it enough that she cares too much about my private life?"
Cyrus turned to look at him, diverting attention from the cushions of various shapes that covered the top of the bed of a square and a half. He smiled before saying that Amber's interest in him seemed cute. "She must love you very much."
TJ smiled and nodded. "You are an only child, aren't you?"
"For now," Cyrus replied in a slightly bitter tone. "My father and stepmother are trying to have another child, but still not..." Cyrus blushed a little. "In short, they haven't made it yet."
TJ felt his cheeks coloring regardless of his will. "I understand," he replied. He looked a little around, uneasy in his own room. He cleared his voice. "Umm... How about we start studying? If not, it's too late, I think." He pointed to the bed to make Cyrus sit down and sat after him on the other side.
The other hinted at a somewhat forced smile. "Don't you mind if I… umm-" began him, pointing to his shoes and the blanket beneath them.
TJ shook his head slowly, preventing Cyrus from finishing an awkward question. He watched Cyrus sit cross-legged and settle down well in front of him. "Then," the blond began. "What do we start with?"
Time passed fast between equations, jokes, and mischief, between smiles and touches of hand. It was when they decided to take a break and they lay down next to each other that TJ finally realized the famous butterflies in his stomach. Cyrus was talking about how idiotic Jonah was sometimes, telling him funny anecdotes and silly jokes that the two had exchanged over the years. TJ watched him gesticulate a little and noticed his eyes glistening in the light of the last rays of sunshine. He wanted to print that moment in his mind, because Cyrus was beautiful even when he was talking about futile things, like Andi's passion for belts or the time Buffy accidentally dyed her hair pink, but also while eating voraciously a muffin, or when he pulled out his tongue in a very nice way, making it pop just from his lips, when he was focused on solving a difficult problem with equations – those moments had been TJ's biggest distraction that afternoon, not counting Cyrus's smile, his rebellious tufts that eluded the power of the gel, his way of biting pencils to the mine, and everything about him. TJ smiled as he continued to look at Cyrus, paying no attention to the boy's words.
Cyrus noticed his distraction and turned to look at him, dropping his gaze on the blonde's lips next to him for a moment. "What is it?" he asked, looking into his eyes.
TJ shook his head, smiling. "Nothing." He felt the irrepressible urge to take Cyrus's pretty hand into his, weaving their fingers and stay that way forever. Then he approached his hand slowly and Cyrus noticed him because he smiled and approached. When their hands met, they weaved their fingers into a single masterpiece. TJ smiled, and Cyrus did the same. He felt a knot in his stomach, but at the same time, the nerves of his shoulders relax. A quiet silence fell between them, who kept looking at each other.
TJ dropped his gaze on the other's fleshy lips and felt his breathing get faster, his heartbeat louder, his nerves stiffen again. Fortunately, he left his eyes there a little more than he should, and Cyrus got closer. He put his hand close to his left shoulder and in a moment was on top of him, still holding his hands together. TJ felt his heartbeat accelerate, so much so that he thought his heart would explode soon. With his lips parted little, he waited for Cyrus to slowly approach. Suddenly, TJ had a flash of genius: he hugged Cyrus without getting too close to him and swapped roles, gently resting Cyrus on top of the pillow that was previously to his right. He settled in the same position as Cyrus moments earlier and winked. He approached calmly while the moor still smiled. TJ was tired of waiting: he and Cyrus had been friends for two years now, and the boy had liked him right away, with his big, deep eyes and his irony and smile. When he found himself inches from the boy's face, he smiled for a moment, thinking back to all the times he had wanted to kiss him – and finally, his dream was coming true! – and in one shot he captured his lips in a passionate kiss, taking him by surprise. Cyrus responded to the kiss in a heartbeat, putting his hands in his blonde hair, and TJ felt a thrill of comfort walking his back for a second.
Both enjoyed that moment, as well as the other's lips, and, in the end, math was no longer the subject of their attention. Damn, damn math.

So @criminalambis wanted this prompt so here's my try at doing this! Hope you like it!
~~~~~~~~~~
Bex groaned as she went to rearrange the makeup brushes on the stand, the afternoon being slower than the rest of the day. Bowie was busy at the Red Rooster, so he couldn't get her a smoothie, and Cece was at home, still upset about the wedding. Bex sighed as she thought back to the explosion at the restaurant, and the eerie silence that had persisted since that day. Of course she got Cece's anger, but it was getting a bit out of hand now.
As she was deep in thought about the wedding and Miranda's words of warning, the bell at the door chimed, indicating someone's arrival. Bex hastily plastered on a smile before turning around.
"Hi, welcome to Cloud 10. How may I," She started, before realising that it didn't look like it was a customer. A boy with dirty blonde hair, wearing a Jefferson Middle School letterman hoodie was stood at the dooreay, pulling at the hoodie. She narrowed her eyes as she walked over to him, arms folded.
"Yes?"
"Is Andi here?" He asked, looking up at her.
"Who's asking?"
"TJ. Kippen. From school?"
Oh. The TJ Kippen. The boy who Buffy had problems with last year. Because he was being mean and rude. And the boy who left Cyrus hanging on Costume Day and is the reason Cyrus hasn't been himself lately. That TJ Kippen, Bex thought to herself. Or so she thought. TJ's face fell even more, and her eyes went wide.
"Did I say that out loud?" She mumbled, and the boy just nodded.
"Look, I know you hate me. Everyone does, as they should," TJ said sadly, looking down at his shoes. "But I just need to tell Andi something about my sister."
"Why your sister? Can't she come herself?"
"She sent me here, I don't know why," TJ said, shrugging his shoulders. Just then, the door chimed open, and Bex turned to see who it was now.
"Amber? What are you doing here?" TJ asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Wait. You two know each other?" Bex asked, pointing at the two of them. Amber scoffed.
"Yeah, he's my brother," She said, jabbing her thumb in his direction, TJ nodding. Bex looked between the two and shrugged her shoulders.
"Huh. Makes sense," She said nonchalantly, going back to rearranging the brushes.
The two siblings just looked at each other awkwardly as Bex continued to rearrange brushes. Finally, she huffed and looked up, placing a hand on her hips.
"Are you two here for a reason?"
"Well, I was here to give Andi this note from Amber with this bag," TJ said, pulling it out of his backpack. "Although, she probably wouldn't wanna see me right now. But Amber made me go for some reason," He said, staring pointedly at her. "Why are you here?" He asked Amber.
"I came to find you," She said, grabbing his elbow and continuing in a low voice, still audible to Bex. "Kira called me, asking why you haven't texted her back."
Bex looked curiously at TJ, trying to place that extremely familiar name. TJ just sighed, pulling out his phone. "Fuck," He whispered, as he looked at all the texts. Just then, it also clicked for Bex who Kira was. Costume girl.
"She also told me to remind you about something," Amber continued, glancing sideways at Bex hesitantly. "You know what."
TJ nodded, his shoulders drooping even more.
Bex was so confused. "Hold on a minute. Isn't Kira the girl you bailed on Cyrus to do the costume with?"
TJ looked up at her, confused. "How do you know that?"
Bex shrugged. "I have a daughter who tells me everything. Plus I got a soft spot for Cyrus, and he was in here the other day. So he told me."
TJ looked down when she mentioned Cyrus, an action that confused her. "Anyway, if she's worth ditching your friend over, why don't you wanna text her back? Is that how you treat your friends?" Bex asked pointedly.
"She's not my friend!" TJ said loudly, before rubbing his arms. Amber held his shoulder, trying to get him to calm down.
Bex furrowed her eyebrows. "What do you mean 'she's not your friend'?"
TJ tried to say something, but couldn't get anything out. Amber spoke up instead. "Look, I know you heard Cyrus' side of the story, which is valid. But there's a lot they don't know either."
"Clearly. All I know is it involved a salt shaker, white shirts and betrayal," Bex said, walking towards the two. "Hey," She said softly, TJ looking up at her nervously. "I'm sorry for snapping a bit. I just really care about Cyrus. So I look out for him."
"I know, it's okay," TJ said quietly. "I care about Cyrus too. It's just, Costume Day was a mess."
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Bex said, sitting on the arm of the chair.
TJ took a deep breath and looked at Bex. "I was all set to do the costume with Cyrus, but then the day before, Kira came up to me. And she said something," He hesitated. "Something that made me really insecure, because I wasn't ready for it to be known. So, i took the coward's way out and have been hanging out with her since. Sorry I can't tell you what it was," TJ said, looking down. "I, I'm just not..."
"Ready," Bex said with a comforting smile. "It's okay. You do need to talk to him though."
"I dont know," TJ said, looking down. "He hates me."
"He doesn't hate you," Amber said. "Like Andi said, he's just disappointed."
TJ just looked away, and Bex patted him on the shoulder. She took the bag from him and turned to Amber. "Okay, and this goes to Andi from you, right?"
Amber lunged forward, grabbing for the bag. "A-Actually, I decided not to give it. It's stupid," She fumbled. And behind her, TJ groaned.
"Amber, seriously? You're gonna chicken out again?"
"Chicken out of what?" Bex asked, holding the bag away from Amber, who was desperately trying to reach for it.
Amber stopped jumping, and looked at Bex. She took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut, saying, "Out of telling Andi I like her."
It took a minute for the realisation to dawn on Bex. "Ohhhh," She whispered, looking at Amber. She smiled comfortingly at her. "It's okay, Amber. Andi won't hate you."
"Hopefully," She mumbled, looking up at Bex nervously. "Do you hate me?"
"Pssht, no!" Bex said, waving her hand dismissively. "How could I hate you when I have my fair share of ex-girlfriends?" She said, placing the bag on the table. When she turned back, the two siblings were staring at her, gobsmacked.
"Whoa," The two of them said, sending Bex giggling. She got up from the arm of the chair, looking at the two.
"Now, is there anything else I can do for you two?" She said with a smile, the two shaking their heads and making their way to the door. Before leaving, Amber turned back.
"Just, tell me how she reacts, please?" Amber said, and Bex gave her a thumbs up.
But TJ didn't leave. He pulled Amber to him, whispering something to her, before walking back towards Bex.
"What happened TJ?" Bex asked, noticing the way he was pulling at his hoodie.
TJ kept his gaze focused down as he spoke. "The thing Kira said to me, when she wanted me to do the costume with her, was would I rather do a costume with Cyrus than with her."
"So?" Bex asked, confused. She leaned back against the counter, looking at TJ. Finally, he looked up at her, his eyes shifty.
"The way she asked it, was like she was asking me would I rather do it with a boy than a girl. Like, like she knew I was," He said quietly, his voice choking up. Bex understood immediately what had happened, and pulled TJ in for a hug. He was stiff at first, but then he hugged her back, her shirt getting slightly wet with tears.
"That's why you did it with her, isn't it?" She asked softly after she pulled away. "Because she found out and you got scared she'd tell someone."
TJ just nodded, wiping away the years that had formed.
Bex pulled him to her by the shoulder. "That was not good, what she did. You aren't a coward TJ. And if you tell Cyrus this, he'll understand."
"What if he hates me even more?"
Bex shook her head. "He won't. I know Cyrus. He'd get it."
TJ sniffed, looking up at Bex. "You know how she found out, right?"
"I have an idea," Bex said, thinking back to all the times Cyrus had spoken about TJ, and the one time TJ had come by with him for something. She had noticed the looks, the touches, the laughs. But she hadnt thought much of it. Young love.
"How am I supposed to tell him that if he asks?" TJ asked.
Bex just smiled, walking him to the door. "When you're ready."
TJ nodded, some of the weaught gone from his walk. "Thanks, Bex. And I'm sorry for bothering you."
"Not at all," She said with a smile. "You and your sister aren't that bad, TJ Kippen," She said, before closing the door.
What an eventful day. Hopefully, everything would work out just fine.
(And it did, as Bex would see at the party in Andi's house, with Cyrus and TJ laughing and holding hands, not hiding their feelings. And with Amber and Andi smiling and whispering to each other. Bowie walked up to her and asked, "What's going on?" And she just smiled, holding onto his waist, looking down at her wedding ring.
Everything worked out great.)
3. opinions on amber's redemption arc?
hm. i don’t really have any problems with how they handled her redemption arc? ngl i barely remember it (kinda forgot about the first 2 seasons and early season 3 cause it’s been a Minute since i saw them) but idk i think she’s Baby and i think they did a fine job on her arc so!
4. do you believe in the kippen sibling theory? have any headcanons about them?
OF COURSE I DO. legit the best theory/headcanon that this fandom has come up with. it’s spectacular and i rlly wish it was canon 🥺 as for headcanons about them.... lemme see...
ig headcanon that once tj realizes he Likes Likes cyrus he goes to amber for help cause she already realized her sexuality and yeah she thinks her brother is Annoying but when tj comes over to her with big shiny eyes barely able to say any other words than ‘i think i like cyrus’ she immediately becomes Soft with tj and talks him through it ! ✨✨✨
7. top three characters?
Day 5 • Double Date
14 Days of Andi Mack Admiration! Here's my day 5 contribution.
The double date is Andi and Cyrus' idea and they're both ridiculously excited about it, which is mostly why Amber and TJ try not to kick up too much of a fuss about it... well, at first they try. It's not that they don't want to go on a double date, but... they don't want to go on a double date.
"If I wanted to spend more time with my brother I'd actually go home more often," Amber complains to Andi as they get ready in her bedroom.
They're going to a drive-in theatre all together. TJ (strong-armed into it by Cyrus) has very graciously offered his car up and Amber is not looking forward to what would inevitably a clunky forty minute drive spent fearing for her life as TJ swerved all over the place. He was a terrible driver. This fact had inspired many an argument between the two of them.
Andi turns around and gestures to the necklace she's holding. Without hesitating Amber moves forward to help her put it on.
"Come on, you're being silly. He's not that bad. It'll be good for you guys to hang out a little bit," Andi says as Amber fumbles with the clasp. "You know he offered to help me fix my bike."
"He's so annoying though."
"You would think that. He's your brother."
"Exactly, which is why I don't understand why we're doing this."
Andi sighs and prepares to launch into another debate over forcing the Kippens to spend time together.
Meanwhile, over at the Goodman's house, Cyrus is having a similar discussion with TJ that is marginally less mature than the girls'.
"TJ come out of there," Cyrus demands, hammering his fist on the door. It's been fifteen minutes now. At first he'd thought TJ was just doing his hair (he always takes so long styling it and almost always makes them late for things as a result) but it hadn't taken him long to realise that locking himself in the bathroom was TJ's way of protesting. "We have to leave in ten minutes!"
"I'm good, thanks!" TJ calls back. "I think I'll just stay here. Maybe I'll take a bath or something. Who knows?"
"This is insane. You're insane! It's just your sister. You see her every day."
"I know, which is why I don't understand why I have to see her even more!"
Cyrus makes a frustrated noise and lets his head fall against the door frame. "Because it would be nice for us all to hang out together! I don't get what your problem is with Amber? I thought you guys got along."
TJ opens the door and sticks his head out. "We do, thanks to the very useful system we have of never seeing each other. Otherwise we fight."
"About?"
"Literally anything."
"It will be fine."
"She's going to complain about my driving."
"No, she's not."
"She is. She always threatens to kill me if I don't slow down."
"TJ, I'm going to kill you if you don't get a move on. Please."
By some sweet miracle, the four of them manage to make it to the drive-in without being late and without any serious bodily injuries being inflicted on either of the Kippen siblings by one another. Mostly because Cyrus and Andi keep running interference. They do bicker like it's what they were born to do though.
They all settle in with giant bags of popcorn. Andi buys Amber a bucket of lurid pink cotton candy that disappears almost instantly from how fast it gets eaten. TJ and Cyrus sip from a bucket sized cup of soda between them. When the movie starts it flickers to life in a haze of blue on the screen. The field of cars goes quiet, only the sound of the whirring projector and the characters in speaking to fill the air. The atmosphere is one of a lazy Saturday night and the smell of hotdogs and fries fills the air.
Cyrus settles back into TJ's arms and leans his head against his chest while Amber and Andi entwine their fingers and giggle to each other quietly about the funnier parts of the movie's opening.
For the first time all evening, there is peace. Everyone seems content. It's nice to be in the company of friends. Cyrus is just thinking they should definitely do this more often when all of that calm certainty goes right to hell.
Amber 'accidentally' kicks TJ and Cyrus has to physically stop him from lunging at her and starting a wrestling match. The siblings bicker as loud as they can without disturbing the people in the neighbouring cars. Andi and Cyrus look at one another in exasperation.
"Never again," Andi mouths.
Never again is correct, Cyrus agrees. One Kippen in a room is fine, but two is complete chaos.
The recent Ambi texts further support Kippen siblings (in my mind)
(Even though we know it won’t actually be canon)
Like the whole “they’re so obsessed with their own problem, they barely notice what I do” thing?
That’s how I imagine TJ’s family situation could be.... that’s why TJ has struggled so much with math (and yknow being a jerk person) for so long. He didn’t have anyone paying enough attention to realize he needs tutoring/might have dyscalculia
Dancing for You
Here’s Chapter 1 of my first fic! Sorry if it’s a little rough; I’m still figuring everything out. Thanks for reading! Also here on Ao3.
Summary: As Cyrus prepares a dance for his high school’s talent show, he finds himself entangled in a new friendship with none other than TJ Kippen, Grant High School’s resident jock. Only good things can come from new friends...right?
Words: 2098
Chapter 1
The music pumped through his veins. It crescendoed, and Cyrus no longer had any idea where he was with respective to anything else in the studio, much less the exact choreography he was dancing at the moment, but that didn’t really matter. All he could see was gleaming green eyes. All he could feel was smooth hands gripping his wrists. As the music ended, Cyrus collapsed on the floor, crying and wondering how he had gotten to this point.
(6 weeks earlier)
Cyrus’s chest heaved as he held his final pose and waited for the music to finish. To be quite honest, the dance wasn’t his best work. The first two minutes or so of choreography was pretty solid, but he ran out of time and had to rush the last bits of choreography that day, so it was pretty repetitive towards the end. But the judges (consisting of the principal and the two assistant principals) seemed to like it, and there was a heavy round of applause, so it must have been alright. Cyrus could even make out some people standing up (that was probably just Andi, Buffy, and Jonah, but it was still cool!). After the judges finished their remarks, he walked off stage to gulp down about 2 full bottles of water.
The talent show lasted for six more acts. Most of them were singers, but there was also a band, another dancer, and a guy who did killer impressions. Cyrus was particularly impressed with his Miss Piggy. Then the judges called all of the acts back on stage to commend everyone for performing.
“Remember to vote online for your favorite act! We’ll see eight of you back here in four weeks for finals! Good luck and good night!” said the principal. The lights rose and the audience began to meander to the auditorium doors. By the time Cyrus had collected his bag and water bottles from backstage, Andi, Buffy, and Jonah were waiting for him by the stage doors.
“That was amazing Cyrus! I can’t believe you’ve been holding out on us!” gushed Andi.
“Yeah, Cy-Guy! Since when do you dance?” asked Jonah.
“This is my fifteenth year.”
“Wait, how old are you again?”
“Buffy, we’ve been best friends with him for over 10 years!” interjected Andi.
“Yeah, but I wanted to make sure that I didn’t accidentally forget that he was immortal or something. You’ve really been dancing since you were two?” she responded.
“Well, I was three by the first recital, but yeah, I was two when I started. Didn’t you know that?” Cyrus said.
Buffy shrugged. “I guess I never really knew the specifics. I just knew that you’d been dancing since basically forever.”
“Well, Good-man and good girls, what do you say to celebratory milkshakes at the Spoon?” said Jonah.
“Well there’s nothing to celebrate yet since I haven’t been voted through, but who am I to say no to milkshakes?”
Cyrus rode with Andi, and Buffy rode with Jonah. The creative car beat the athletic car, and Cyrus went inside to secure the good booth while Andi called her mom to let her know where she was. She came back right after Cyrus ordered their baby taters and milkshakes (vanilla for Andi and chocolate for the rest of them), joined by Buffy and Jonah and a bouquet of flowers.
“We would have given them to you earlier, but we didn’t trust ourselves to keep them intact through the entire show,” said Andi as Buffy handed him the flowers.
“You guys really didn’t have to get me flowers! I wasn’t that good, and besides it was only the prelims!”
“Yes we did! It’s not like we could’ve made you posters like you do for Buffy’s basketball games or organized snacks like you do for the Space Otters, so we did the next best thing,” said Jonah, sliding into the booth across from Cyrus.
“Whatever, I probably won’t be put through anyway.”
“Shut up! Yes you will!” said Andi.
Cyrus would’ve argued further, but their milkshakes arrived at that moment.
“Vanilla milkshake?” asked the waitress.
“That’s me!” Andi exclaimed as Buffy rolled her eyes.
“You have got to be kidding me. Vanilla isn’t even a flavor!” Buffy said while helping pass Cyrus and Jonah their drinks.
“Yes it is! It’s the flavor of sweetness and deliciousness!” Andi shot back.
Cyrus settled back into his seat. He had heard this same argument at least a thousand times. Buffy maintained that vanilla barely had any more flavor than water. Andi disagreed. At this point, a trip to their favorite milkshake-and-baby-tater spot wasn’t complete without a new iteration of the debate. Still, Cyrus enjoyed it. Their friendly banter allowed him to relax.
Until he spilled his milkshake, that is.
“You are definitely the clumsiest dancer I know,” said Buffy while Cyrus groaned and tried to blot the milkshake off of his shirt.
“Shut up. Yeah, I’m definitely going to need use water on this. Be right back,” Cyrus responded as he scooted past Andi to head to the bathroom.
Fortunately for Cyrus, the milkshake was surprisingly easy to clean up. He was in the bathroom for no more than four minutes, and he was about to head back to his table when he heard a toilet flush. He looked up to see none other than TJ Kippen staring right back at him in the mirror. Cyrus didn’t know anything about TJ other than that he was in his history class and that he was the source of Buffy’s hatred for male jocks, but he suspected that nothing good could come of this interaction.
“Hey, aren’t you that guy that danced in the talent show?” asked TJ. So he’s going the “fein interest” route Cyrus thought to himself.
“Y-yeah,” he said out loud, and, in a moment of unprecedented confidence, he added “You got a problem with that?”
“No, not at all!” TJ chuckled, as if he found the idea of having a problem with Cyrus ridiculous. “I just think it’s interesting that you keep so much to yourself in class but you’re willing to dance in front of the entire school.”
“It wasn’t the entire school! And how do you know enough about me to even make that judgement? You started off this entire conversation with ‘Aren’t you that guy?’ It sounds to me like you don’t even know who I am!”
“You’re in my history class.” When a look of confusion passed over Cyrus’s face, TJ continued. “What? You can’t honestly tell me you never noticed.”
“No, I know that you’re in my class. I just didn’t think you knew that. You’re a pretty aloof guy.”
“Well history just happens to be the one class I pay attention in.”
“Are you telling me that TJ Kippen, Grant’s resident stoic jock, is a history nerd?”
“I didn’t say that! … But yes, I am. Don’t go spreading it around! The last thing I need is having my reputation ruined by some smallfry that danced in the talent show.”
Growing, more confident by the minute, Cyrus responded with “Aw, and just as we were getting to be friends!”
TJ didn’t necessarily growl, per se, but he was intimidating enough to make Cyrus quickly add on “But you have my word! I will not go around ruining your reputation. Even if I think you’re being ridiculous.”
For a moment Cyrus thought TJ was going to say that that wasn’t enough and demand that he somehow remove that particular piece of information from his brain, but then he sighed and said “Thank you,” which threw Cyrus for a second before he moved on to another question that had been brewing in his mind since he first saw TJ in the bathroom.
“So what are you doing here anyway? I don’t think I saw any of your friends out there.”
“I’m just picking up Amber. She gets off work in five minutes.”
“Oh, are you two dating?” Cyrus really did not care about TJ’s answer, but he figured he had to do his duty as Andi’s friend.
“God no,” TJ groaned. “Why does everyone ask us that? Can no one get it through their thick skulls that we’re fucking siblings!”
“Wait, she’s your sister?”
“Yes, unfortunately. And,” TJ said, pulling out his phone, “apparently she got off a little early. See ya later, Underdog.”
“Bye TJ--wait, what did you call me?” Cyrus asked, but TJ had already left the bathroom. Sighing, Cyrus dabbed at his shirt one last time before returning to his baby taters (and his friends, but his taters were more important).
“What took you so long?” Jonah asked as Cyrus slid back into the booth.
“Yeah, what exactly were you doing in that bathroom, Cyrus?” Buffy added.
“Oh, TJ Kippen was here to pick up Amber and he was in the bathroom and we ended up having an...interesting conversation.”
“Wait, is TJ dating Amber?” Andi interjected.
“You don’t have to worry about TJ stealing your girlfriend Andi,” Cyrus responded.
“She’s not my girlfriend!”
“But you want her to be,” teased Cyrus. “Apparently they’re siblings. Not sure why no one seems to know that.”
“Anyway,” said Buffy, steering the discussion back to Cyrus’s conversation in the bathroom, “What did you guys talk about? Why were you guys talking in the first place?”
“To be completely honest, I have no idea. He asked if I was ‘that guy that danced in the talent show,’” Cyrus said with air quotes.
“Did he mess with you? I swear to God-”
“No, Buffy, stop! He was actually pretty cool about it, and then I learned that he’s a huge his-” Cyrus paused, remembering TJ’s almost-threat about ruining his reputation. “He’s a huge Hiss Hiss fan.”
“Hiss Hiss?” Andi asked.
“Yeah, apparently it’s some indie emo band or something.”
“That sounds like total bs,” Buffy said. Cyrus just shrugged. “Fine, keep your secrets. Is that all that happened?”
“Yeah. He got text from Amber saying that she was done early, and then he left, but then as he was leaving he called me some name. I think it was Underdog? I’m not really sure. He left before I could ask.”
“I wonder what that’s about,” said Andi.
“Me too. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow in history.”
“I didn’t know he was in any of your classes,” said Jonah.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t have expected him to be in AP US History,” Buffy added.
“I guess everyone’s got their secrets,” said Cyrus. “Well, now that the baby taters and shakes are gone, I guess it’s unfortunately time to go home. Don’t make that face, Andi! We need to sleep!”
“Fine,” she grumbled. “Do you need a ride, Cy?”
“Nah, it’s nice out, and my house is only ten minutes from here.”
“Okay. Bye everyone!”
In usual Good Hair Crew (and Jonah) fashion, it took ten minutes for everyone to say goodbye and get out the door. When Cyrus finally started his walk home, the cool breeze was a breath of fresh air. As much as he loved his friends, they got to be a little overbearing at times. Who cares if he and TJ Kippen exchanged a few words in the bathroom?
I care, thought a tiny piece of his mind, but, as it made no sense, Cyrus elected to ignore it. Instead, he plugged in his earbuds and started to choreograph a new dance. If he was put through, maybe he’d use it for the finals. The song was only about three minutes long, and it varied enough to allow Cyrus to use lots of different moves. Before long, Cyrus was turning and jumping home as much as he was walking, and he was still dancing when he reached his front door eight minutes later.
“How was the talent show, honey? I’m so sad I had to miss it,” his mom called from the dining room.
“Mom, it’s fine! I told, you, it was only the preliminary round!”
“I know, sweetie, I just love watching you dance so much!”
“Thanks, Mom. I’m pretty tired though, so I think I’m going to go to bed now.”
“Of course. You can tell me all about it in the morning.”
Cyrus practically sleep-walked his way to bed, barely registering his toothbrush and sink and pajamas as he used each to prepare for bed. However, just before finally drifting off to sleep, there was one very clear image in his mind: TJ chuckling. What’s that all about? Cyrus wondered, but he didn’t have time to answer his own question before falling completely asleep.
5 top Andi Mack headcanon?
Sorry, a couple of mine are generic, and most of them involve TJ in one way or another but-
1.) I really love the Kippen Siblings. Amber is a year older than TJ, and as much as they fought, and never really got along growing up, (and still tend to not get along now) they’re always there for each other because at the end of the day they’re family. And the happiness of their family is their number one priority. They help each other through all their relationship problems and right now Amber is doing her best to help talk TJ through what happened on costume day. It’s just going to take time on both ends.
2.) TJ has some sort of artsy talent. Whether he be an amazing artist, a fantastic writer, or an astounding photographer, TJ has been keeping this talent from everyone for so long because he is afraid of opening up to anyone and letting them see his softer side. However it’s all started with Cyrus and he’s only going to be opening up more as time goes on. The walls of his bedroom(or desk, for writing) are filled with his work and the first time Cyrus enters his bedroom he’s speechless. He’s never seen such detailed work before, and it made him fall in love with TJ even more than he had originally thought possible. He gives Cyrus a piece of his work that he had been saving for this moment, he spent all his time trying to get it just right, and when he finally did, he couldn’t have been happier.
3.) Along with his artsy talent, TJ is absolutely in love with botany, and everything to do with gardening. He has one of the best green thumbs around(Some say he may even be better than Bowie or Cece. But none of them would ever admit that.) Which is why in secret, the three of them tend to get together and tend to their gardens. Cece has the garden in her front yard, Bowie did the best he could with the space he was given and dedicated an area of their front porch to buying some planters, and TJ has a huge garden in his backyard that he’s been helping his mom with ever since he was little.(Amber, while she loves flowers, was never one for the work that goes into planting, and taking care of them.) They also have various produce growing back there as well, which they always use when making meals.
4.) One day, Andi had come home abruptly during one of their secret gardening get-togethers. Needless to say she was surprised, and found it really weird when she had to ask “You’ve all been gardening together… in secret?” In turn, she gained admiration for TJ. She saw a side of him that only Cyrus had been seeing for so long. They began to form a friendship, seeing as it would probably be best for both Cyrus, and Amber. TJ helps teach her how to garden properly. She had always wanted to learn, but Cece always shooed her away because she never had the patience for it. They start small with flowers, and work their way up to planting pumpkins so that way they’ll all start being able to judge who carves the best pumpkin. Andi shows TJ how to make crafts. She starts him off small, just as he did with her, showing him how to make cranes. Eventually, when he got the hang of it, she teaches him to make bracelets. He makes matching ones for both Cyrus and himself so that way they’ll always be connected. Neither of them take off their bracelet.
5.) TJ has a surprisingly extensive knowledge about music. He has playlists from the 1970′s all the way up to today’s current hits. Although there will always be a special place in his heart for the 1980′s. Most of the time when they hangout, Cyrus tests him by seeing if he can guess songs within a couple seconds, and he manages to always get them right. That and he remembers the lyrics to almost every song he’s enjoyed growing up. Every time music is playing, he is singing. He’s not a great singer, but he does it anyways. He finds it fun to sing along wherever he is. In the shower, in the car on the way to school, belting out the notes when he’s home alone, his duets with Cyrus up in his room. It doesn’t matter where, if he knows the words, he’s going to sing.
Wait, did I say most of them involved TJ? I definitely meant all of them.
I honestly have a TJ problem, and I’m not sorry about it.
if ur taking requests (if not it’s fine) could u write a fic from an outsiders pov of tj and cyrus? like the person (idk a basketball team mate or marty or gus lmfao) thinks tj likes buffy and then realizes “hey now tj and cyrus are pretty close” I think it’ll be funny
Of course I’m taking requests! That’s so cute let’s go
Marty stepped into the Spoon, looking around for a table, only to be greeted by a familiar voice.“Marty?” Buffy asked, getting out of the booth she was sitting in to hug Marty hello. “God, it’s so good to see you again!”“You too!” Marty exclaimed in disbelief. “It’s been forever!”“Come sit with us,” Buffy insisted, tugging Marty towards her booth, where Cyrus and the captain of the basketball team- TJ Kippen- were sitting. Marty sat down next to Buffy with a smile.“Hey, Cyrus. It’s good to see you again,” Marty greeted brightly, stealing one of Buffy’s baby taters, ignoring Buffy swatting his arm. TJ watched Buffy and Marty make eye contact for a moment before standing up. “I’ve gotta get home, I’m babysitting today,” he said quickly. “Um, Underdog! Do you want to come with?”“Yes!” Cyrus exclaimed quickly.“Alright, I’ll go tell Amber we’re going.” With that, TJ hurried to the back in search of his sister. After a moment, he came back, pulling Cyrus out of the diner.“Wait!” Buffy exclaimed. “You don’t have siblings except for Amber!”“Psh- That’s, uh…” TJ trailed off, looking to Cyrus for help.“Unnecessary information,” Cyrus stammered, rushing out the door. Marty watched Buffy shake her head fondly, and felt jealously coil in his stomach.Were they friends? Since when? Hadn’t TJ been terrible to her? Cyrus being friends with TJ he could understand- that boy could make friends with a pair of socks if he wanted to. But Buffy? Was there something more there?“Wh-what was that all about?” he asked. “They’re not the type of people for drama,” Buffy chuckled. “What drama?”“Um, nevermind.” Buffy waved him off.“Then what was that about?” Marty asked again.“Well, they really like kissing,” she replied with a chuckle and a shake of the head.“What? Who?”“Uh, each other? Well I hope that’s who they’re kissing, or that relationship is going downhill very fast and I have to murder TJ- or Cyrus, I guess. But Cyrus couldn’t cheat on TJ any more than he could kill a kitten. I guess the same goes for TJ, he’d probably die before he’d cheat on Cyrus,” she rambled.“Wait what?” Marty asked. “They’re together? Cyrus likes guys? Didn’t he have a girlfriend? TJ likes boys?”“My God you ask a lot of questions,” Buffy teased. “Umm… Yes, yes, her name is Iris and she’s dating Amber now, and kind of surprising but also totally not: yes. TJ’s gay.”“Oh,” Marty said quietly, digesting the information presented to him.“Is there a problem?” Buffy asked slowly, narrowing her eyes at Marty.“What? No! You do know I’m tr-” Marty cut himself off before he managed to out himself to her. “…Tremendously supportive?” Buffy nodded, clearly connecting dots in her head, and set a hand on top of Marty’s.“Hey,” Buffy said gently, meeting Marty’s eyes. “You can tell me anything, you know. I know we haven’t seen each other in a while, but that doesn’t change the fact that I care about you.” “Thanks, Buffy. I- um, I’m trans,” he admitted quietly. Buffy nodded, hugging him warmly. “Thank you for telling me,” she whispered into his shoulder.“Thanks for letting me.” Buffy shrugged as she pulled away.“Well, this place does tend to make people want to come out to me.”
6. Random headcanon
Finally I can talk about my favorite character in Andi Mack, bisexual trans heterophobic icon Kip!
So, im in the minority of people that do not like th kippen siblings head canon lol. However I am a fan of the kippen siblings if Kip is included.
So my Kip head canons. The Actors name is CJ, so my head canon is that both TJ and CJ kippen were named after different grandparents. CJ is the oldest, and he’s a jock too (canon) and in sports, its super common to be called by your last name (I actually think we’ve heard TJ be called Kippen by one of his teammates) and that’s how he got the nickname Kip. And the nickname stuck. So he has 2 nicknames CJ and Kip lol. And he’s the older sibling so he gets ownership of Kip. That’s just how it works.
Also, Dr. Metcalf (who is younger than he looks he’s just an early grey-er 😔) is gay was heavy into the punk scene in his youth, and was a DJ throughout college, and had a fling with Bowie’s bandmate Rafe
This says random head canon and I’ve given like 10
32. Which character do you relate to the most?
This is a toughie bc there isn’t a character that I relate to on a complete level, and im gonna choose 3 lol, bc I relate to these characters in a lot of ways but they are vastly different characteristics so its difficult to decide one is more so than the other… when they are just different reasons.
The 3 characters I relate to the most are Buffy, TJ, and Cyrus
Buffy and TJ are very similar so a lot of the reasons I relate to them is similar. But their strong-willedness and straight-forwardness I really relate to. Like buffy never really minces words, she just straight up says it (most of them time) and as a person who keeps getting told they are ‘candid’ and very matter-of-fact it reminds me of them. They are decisive and goal-oriented. And of course their athleticism and competitiveness (tho im not that competitive tbh, but I relate to the drive that hides beneath competitiveness, which they also clearly have. I feel like if my friends were to watch andi mack TJ or Buffy are the the characters they’d say reminds them most of me.
I relate to Cyrus because I’m really empathetic (which sometimes isn’t noticeable on the surface because im so assertive, but its definitely there lol). Cyrus always tries to see all sides, and im usually very good at that as well. I normally can always see the other side, and he isn’t quick to jump to conclusions, and likes to think things out before acting. I think Cyrus is too centrist tho lol. Just because you can see where someone’s coming from doesn’t mean they’re sort of right too. I think he’s way more indecisive than I am, and wants to have his cake and it it too, where I will take a side. But overall his empathy and being a good listener, I relate to. Also so far in the show with every conflict, the way Cyrus responds is the way I would respond. Again careful, not immediately taking sides, wanting to know more etc. and the reason I didn’t go solely with TJ or Buffy is bc these traits I share with Cyrus are just as strong as the traits I share with them, so I couldn’t really say one was more bc they are very different traits.
im bad at wording things lol, but there are other reasons too, that i cant formulate properly
37. If you could thank one of the characters for one thing, who would it be and for what?
I honestly can’t think of a character I would thank for one thing….. whoops. I mean there are storylines I think were really good and I would thank the show for including them, such as the learning disability… but in general im not sure. Maybe TJ because he’s a gay jock with a learning disability and like same… and its always good seeing characters like you treated as equal. So maybe him, for being him lol
38. What's one(or more) thing that this show has taught you?
It’s taught me to appreciate characters/people you don’t relate to. It’s done this bc Andi is the title character, and Andi is also the character I relate to absolutely the least lol, even with our shared art interest. Pretty much everything andi does, I wouldn’t lol. It’s made it super hard to relate and see where she’s coming from, and typically I don’t have that problem that much. This is super personal lesson, bc I don’t know how they would’ve purposely done it in the show lol. But I think there are people in life, you just don’t get, and its not that they are a bad person, its just youre very different, but before I think I  would’ve more likely been annoyed and just avoided people like that and not tried to learn anything about them or even given them much of a chance, whereas now I feel like even if I have zero in common with someone I can still appreciate them as a person and as another unique variation of humanity lol.
Im bad at wording things sorrrry
Some Kippen Siblings(and family) headcanons I thought about at work instead of focusing on my job. (Also some trans! TJ)
TJ and Amber's parents have had money problems for a long time. Thet are a working class family.
Both their parents work two poorly paid jobs. One of their mom's jobs is piano lessons in the evening.
Because of the many jobs, their parents aren't around much and when they are around, their usually fighting about money.
TJ and Amber have been taking care of the.selves for a long time. Amber more so than TJ because she goes all protective big sister on him.
When TJ was younger he was scared of storms so Amber started a little way to cope. They would hide under a blanket together and Amber would give him her headphones to block out the thunder. She would hold his hand until the storm passed.
Even as teenagers, in particularly big storms he would sneak into her bedroom and she would be ready to "protect" him from storms again.
Amber was the first person he told he was trans.
When they were little they had bunk beds. Amber is 2 years older.
When TJ was 5, he climb to the top bunk where Amber was playing with her dolls. He had had on a frilly purple dress that he HATED.
The convo went like this:
TJ: Amber, guess what?"
Amber: What? (Without looking up from her dolls)
TJ: I'm a boy.
Amber: oh cool.
And that was it. From that moment on she accepted TJ was a boy.
She fought with their parents when they were resisting what TJ wanted. Even now, she gets into it with her mom whenever she makes an offhand transphobic remark. Unfortunately their dad avoids the topic all together.
Amber threatened to beat up the kids at their elementary school when they were mean to TJ.
TJ is just as protective.
When Amber was in the 8th grade, some boys were being pretty sexist and pervy in her class and she tried to ignore it. But when she got home she told TJ(he was in 6th grade)
He responded by putting stink bombs in their locker.
TJ wasn't very good at Chess but he was always up to playing with Amber.
He will never admit it but he would help Amber whenever she was working on a new dance routine.(Though he is nowhere as graceful as him)
They would sing Camp Rock and HSM songs together.
They both had a crush on Zack Efron as Troy. (TJ never said it out loud, but Amber could tell.)
Both Kippen kids put on hard exteriors because of how hard their lives have been but will fight for each other.
They were both so happy when they noticed their sibling opening up to others(TJ with Cyrus and Amber with Andi)
Bonus: Even though, he and Jonah(and Marty) become best friends, he has a pretty harsh talk with Jonah when he found out how he was lying to his sister. He later apologized for losing his temper but made sure Jonah knew what he did wasn't cool.
31 Days of Andi Mack ~ Day 29
Fic/edit/art/moodboard about going to a haunted house or pumpkin patch.
Also available on AO3 ♥
P.S. I’m so sorry for how terrible and rushed this is... I’ve got a lot to do this week, so I barely finished this. But I guess something’s better than nothing!
TJ trudged across the dew-damp field, winding his way through the sea of pumpkins studding the ground as he made his way towards Cyrus. The October air was biting tonight, and TJ welcomed the numbing heat of the cocoa seeping through his thick, woollen gloves. He wasn’t usually the type to wear neon-striped gloves that practically glowed in the dark, but they were a gift from Cyrus, and TJ found it all but impossible to refuse his boyfriend anything.
When he finally located Cyrus in the middle of the field, he couldn’t help but laugh. The smaller boy was hefting an abnormally large pumpkin above his head, trying and failing to balance it on his shoulder so he could see where he was walking. When he noticed TJ standing there, he staggered forward, his knees buckling, and lost his grip on the pumpkin. It tumbled off his shoulder and landed in his hands, just inches away from hitting the ground. TJ could see his boyfriend’s fingers straining under the weight of the pumpkin, and the pained expression on his face was enough to dissolve his laughter.
“Here,” he said, putting the hot chocolates on the ground for a moment, “I’ll swap you.”
Cyrus made a squeaky sound of relief and passed the pumpkin to TJ. “Thank you… I was worried my fingers were about to snap. Are you sure you can handle it?”
“I’m good,” he assured him, wrapping his arms around the pumpkin and holding it against his stomach. Cyrus ducked his head in embarrassment, so TJ quickly added, “But it is heavy, you’re right.”
Cyrus rolled his eyes fondly. “You don’t need to pretend, Teej.”
“No, really! It’s a big pumpkin.”
“You’re sweet.” Cyrus grabbed the hot chocolates and planted a chaste kiss on TJ’s lips. They’d only been dating for a few weeks, but they’d quickly become the touchy-feely kind of couple who couldn’t stand to go without holding hands or kissing each other for more than a few minutes. On days when they were apart, it was a problem, but in moments like this, when they were together, TJ couldn’t complain.
“You wanna find the others?” he asked in a whisper, his nose bumping affectionately against Cyrus’. “It’s getting kinda dark.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go.”
After one last kiss, they reluctantly pulled apart, then started searching the field for their friends. With their hands focussed on the task of carrying the pumpkin and cocoa, the closest they could get to holding hands was brushing their arms against each other. It didn’t have the same heart-stuttering effect as threading their fingers together, but it was a good enough compromise.
Buffy and Marty were in the far right corner of the field, standing smugly next to a round, monstrously large pumpkin. TJ felt Cyrus deflate next to him, his shoulder sliding dejectedly against his own. Compared to Buffy and Marty’s pumpkin, theirs was nothing extraordinary.
“Where did you find that?” Cyrus asked, an adorable sulkiness edging his voice.
“Just here,” Buffy said. She slapped a proud hand against the pumpkin and gave them both a smirk. “I guess we just got lucky.”
TJ lowered their pumpkin to the ground, his arms throbbing with relief, and shrugged. “What’s the deal with these pumpkins? Is it some kind of competition, or…?”
“It’s a Halloween tradition,” Cyrus explained. “Every year, we come up with some kind of contest to decide who gets to pick our group costume. This year, it’s all down to the pumpkins.” He flapped a hand at the orange giant nestled in the leaves next to Buffy. “And they just found the mother of all pumpkins!”
TJ chuckled slightly, removing one of the hot chocolates from Cyrus’ hands before he could spill it all over himself. “So, what? The biggest pumpkin wins?”
“No,” Buffy said. “It’s a carving contest. But, you know, the larger the surface, the more room for detail.” She clapped her hands together, sighing triumphantly. “So, in other words, we’ve got this in the bag.”
“Who’s judging this thing?”
“Walker,” Cyrus said. It was still surprising to TJ that Buffy’s ex-boyfriend (and Andi’s ex-something) was now a part of their friend group, but he didn’t question it. Walker was a pretty cool guy, and he was glad to know him. He was glad to know all of them.
“Buffy’s set on winning,” Marty stage-whispered to him, knowing too well his girlfriend could still hear him. “It’s quite concerning.”
Buffy punched him lightly in the arm. “Don’t pretend you’re not as competitive as me.”
“No one’s as competitive as you, hon.”
“Okay, that’s true.”
“We could still beat you,” Cyrus said, with all the determination of a kitten trying to roar. “Our pumpkin’s a fair size, and it has a smoother surface than yours.”
Buffy scoffed. “You call that smooth? You’re lying to yourself, Cy.”
TJ and Marty shared a look – the kind that said, “I can’t believe we’re dating these dorks.” – then smiled, both aware of how irrespectively smitten they were.
Just then, Andi and Amber came stumbling through the field towards them, giggling and holding hands. TJ noticed the small, yellow pumpkin in his sister’s free hand, and a pitiful snort escaped his nostrils. At least his and Cyrus’ pumpkin didn’t look like a small melon.
“What was that for?” Amber asked, a threatening scowl twisting her lips.
TJ shrugged. “Nothing. I just thought you’d put at least some effort into this thing.”
“Andi’s an artist,” Amber reminded them with an arrogant quirk of an eyebrow. “It doesn’t matter how big or bright your pumpkins are; we’ve got talent on our side.”
Andi gave her girlfriend a doting smile. “Aw… Thanks, babe.”
“You’re welcome.”
They shared a kiss, then smirked at the rest of them. Perhaps it was the sibling rivalry getting to his head, but he hated how proud of themselves they looked, as if they’d already won the contest. He glanced at Cyrus and felt his heart break; he looked so small and disappointed, and TJ couldn’t stand it. He knew his boyfriend struggled with low self-esteem, so the thought of this stupid contest making him feel untalented and worthless was enough to set his teeth on edge.
He pulled his boyfriend aside, away from the bickering debate about artistic ability which had now erupted amongst the group, and cupped one of his cheeks with his cocoa-free hand.
“Amber doesn’t know this, but I took an art class at Summer Camp three years in a row… I could help you, if you want?”
“Are you serious?” He nodded, and Cyrus’ frown quickly morphed into an ear-splitting grin, hot chocolate sloshing over the side of his cup as he threw his arms around TJ. “You’re the most amazing boyfriend on the planet! What did I do to deserve you?”
TJ touched the small of his back and smiled softly. “I’m the one who should be asking you that.” He kissed Cyrus’ temple, then pulled away, pressing a conspiratory finger against his lips. “But don’t tell the others. We’re gonna carve the best damn pumpkin they’ve ever seen, and then we’re gonna surprise them with the worst group costume idea ever conceived. Sound like a plan?”
Cyrus laughed. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too,” TJ responded with ease, his heart buzzing with happiness as the words slipped out.
They returned to the group with their hands clasped together, sharing a secretive smile as they listened to their friends argue into the night.
~~~~~
Four Days Later.
“I can’t believe I agreed to this,” Buffy grumbled, tugging on the bulky costume enclosing her entire body. She was dressed as a chocolate chip muffin, and Marty was biting his fist with the effort not to laugh.
Next to them, Andi was dressed as a strawberry muffin, looking rather humiliated as she tried to hide behind Amber. “We definitely need to beat Cyrus next year.”
TJ wrapped an arm around his boyfriend (which was difficult, considering the chocolate chocolate chip muffin costume Cyrus was wearing) and grinned. “I think you guys look sweet… No pun intended. Cece did a great job with the costumes.”
“Yeah,” Andi said. “I think I’m gonna have to disown her.”
Buffy looked TJ up and down with contempt. “You can’t exactly make fun of us, Kippen. You’re in the same boat.”
“Why did you choose to wear that, man?” Marty asked. “You weren’t part of the contest.”
Cyrus smiled. “It was his choice.”
“Really?”
“Yep.” TJ ran a loving hand over his costume – a blueberry macadamia muffin – and turned to his boyfriend, his stomach swooping at the gorgeous grin adorning Cyrus’ face. “We come as a pair.”
