sns is so fucking unhinged and nobody will ever be them i’m sorry. you start the series and it’s like oh haha look at these goofy angsty rivals! they hate each other! then sasuke dies for naruto thirty chapters in giving up his dream of revenge and naruto goes batshit insane. now you’re like ah they’re friends i guess that’s cute! and sasuke is trying to kill naruto because he’s the most important person in his life which is . ok and it becomes the driving force of everything or something. sasuke leaves and naruto dedicates the rest of his life to bringing him back and you’re still a casual fan so ur like he’s doing it for the promise right? then orochimaru says sasuke is his and naruto goes batshit insane feral homicidal (again) and after that sasuke reappears and they have ??? like five different panels dedicated to them staring at each other??? and he jumps off a mountain and hugs naruto for some reasons just to whisper some gay shit in his ear kishimoto frankly needs to be jailed drawing this and keep that best friend nonsense going. anyways. you have sasuke become a convicted terrorist to which the normal people response is “ok we need to hunt him down” and when naruto learns they’re gonna hunt him down he starts screaming crying throwing up he has a panic attack he can’t breathe he’s falling in the snow he gets on his knees and begs them to spare his BFF. after having a meltdown over the thought of sasuke dying what may possibly be the natural coping mechanism any stable person would adapt? of course realising that if sasuke dies he can die too. so he sees sasuke again and after he attempts murdering sakura twice and expresses the intent to murder kakashi he’s like. i will bear the burden of your hatred and die with you hehe and if we both die you won’t be an uchiha and i won’t be the jinchuuriki to the nine tails and we’ll be able to understand each other better in a different lifetime! WE’LL MEET AGAIN IN THE AFTERLIFE BECAUSE NOT EVEN DEATH CAN DO US PART! and sasuke (just as insane as him) doesn’t even flinch he’s like what the fuck is wrong with you but then ok let’s fuckingggf die together on my god i will kill your first anyways . then they find out they are soulmates and get cute matching tattoos on their hands and decide to fight to the death once more because sasuke is back on his i will shoulder all the hatred of the world alone and i need to kill you because i love you more than anyone else in the world actually you’re the only person i love so you need to DIE and naruto is like I WILL NOT LET YOU SHOULDER THAT HATRED ALONE I WILL FREE YOU FROM THE PAIN and they fight and despite all the whatever weapons used in the war it’s a fuckinggg fistfight in which just as sasuke is about to inflict what he thinks is the last blow says “farewell… my one and only…………………. (very long pause to accentuate how heteronormative this next word is gonna be) FRIEND” and fucking stops using his sharingan because not even then he can record the image of naruto dying especially by his hand but naruto STOPS HIM LIKE A f cHAMP and they end up blowing each other’s arms off (rip the matchies) and as they’re bleeding to the fucking death sasuke is like you’re the only person that has never tried to severe their ties with me why do you go so far for me and naruto from the depths of comphet hell is like because you’re my FRIEND and sasuke being absolutely done with this bullshit is like ok what the fuck does that mean to you then and this is where it gets even gayer and relatable because naruto is like i don’t KNOW i just know that when you hurt i hurt and i just can’t take it and isn’t that the most gay experience thing ever? naruto knows what it feels like to have friends but what he feels for sasuke is so bone deep and unconventional that he cannot make sense of it and can only describe the pain it brings. after that sasuke CRIES LIKE THEYVE GOT ME SOOO FUCKED UP but you know what got me even more fucked up?
naruto waking up bloodied and battered and half alive with one arm missing but still wondering if that was heaven because sasuke was next to him. sasuke looking so happy and peaceful when saying “i lost” as a stark contrast to him looking and feeling like half of his body was being torn apart when he “won” against naruto in vote1 and left him. the bitterness of victory vs the sweetness of losing if you will. AND HIM COMPARING WHAT HE FEELS FOR NARUTO TO PRAYING MY GODD. did i forget to mention that then we learn that Ohhh it was never a stupid shallow rivalry as we all thought! they have actually been watching each other from afar since they were little freshly traumatised children and have longed to hold each other’s hands since then! what was it sasukeeee you felt warm and fuzzy when you saw naruto to thought of it as a weakness? these two are so astronomically hopelessly desperately obsessed in love with each other it’s ridiculous i’ve had ENOUGH free me from this mental prison

The Anbu Captain II
18+ content, Minors do NOT interact
Pairing: Kakashi x F!Reader
Summary: The mysterious Kakashi pays you a visit after finally returning from his mission to use and abuse you in the best way.
Warnings: NSFW, Nipple, Sensory, & Anal Play, Spanking, Oral, you get it...
Word Count: 1.9k
Art Credit: @akirasukuna
Part I
It had been several weeks since the mysterious visit by Kakashi. Every day you had your head on a swivel, looking over your shoulder to see if he had returned. You never saw him but you did often see a small dog with a bandana wrapped around his chin. Clearly he belonged to somebody but you assumed maybe he was kept as an outside dog. Nevertheless, you decided to start leaving food out by your door. Not having any kibble on hand, you would leave your table scraps on a plate for the little guy to eat.
Every evening when you came home you were on your guard, half expecting the icy Anbu solider to be there waiting for you. Tonight, just like every other night for the past three weeks, you were home alone apart from the friendly dog that you occasionally allowed to sleep inside. Preparing for bed, you pulled on a lacy pair of panties and a crop top, throwing your hair up into a ponytail secured with a satin scrunchy. You crawled into bed and quickly fell asleep enveloped by your silky sheets.
You woke up with a start as you realized a man was standing next to your bed. You tried screaming but a familiar gloved hand covered your mouth.
“You!” you heaved once he uncovered your lips.
“Quiet”
“What do you mean ‘quiet’? You gave me a heart attack!”
“I read your file. You’re a ninja. You are too easily caught off guard for a shinobi.” he criticized
“Only cause you insist on breaking into my house!”
“I said quiet, now…”
You silence your protests remembering who you are dealing with. He may have read your file but you did some digging on him too. They called him “Friend Killer Kakashi.” He was a man with a trail of tragedy ranging back to his childhood. He had been an Anbu captain for years, far exceeding a normal shinobi’s tenure as a Black Op. It would be extremely unwise to go against his wishes.
He takes off his gloves before he pulls back your covers exposing your half naked form. He cups your breasts as he glides his hands down to the short hem of your crop top nodding in approval. His hands glide further down to your undergarment as he sticks his pointer fingers beneath the lace, lifting it off your skin to pull them down.
“Do you always sleep like this?”
You silently nod, staring at his covered face as it analyzes your frame.
“Good, I expect you to look like this every time I visit.”
Your mouth opens as you’re about to protest but you think better of it and close it again.
“I will visit between missions. You will not have any men over here. You will refer to me as captain. And when I come, you will change into this”
While you feel indignant about his rules you couldn’t stop yourself from saturating the sheets beneath where you lay. The way he was eyeing you like a man whose mouth was watering for the food he was about to devour, it made you excited to allow him to feast upon your flesh.
Remembering how good he made you feel last time, you ached for him to touch you again but furthermore this time you wanted to touch him.
He slid your panties down to your knees climbing in bed next to you.
You turned onto your side, reaching out to remove his mask when he catches your wrist, squeezing it hard. You let out a tiny whimper of pain as you realize your mistake.
“No touching unless I tell you”
Again you nod.
He releases your hand as he sits on your pelvis, straddling you. You feel butterflies rise in your chest. He was gorgeous. You didn’t have to see him naked, you didn’t even have to see his face, he was somehow still the most beautiful man you had ever seen. His arms alone were a work of art. The sculpted muscles with veins threading in and out of their fibers, the red tattoo near his shoulder, it was perfection that sent you into a spiral of lust. Dying to touch him you bit your lip trying to restrain yourself.
“Aww, are you excited for me to use your lovely body?” he purred
“Mmhmm” you whined back at him
“Don’t worry good girl, I’ll be sure to use you well.”
He took back out the headband he had used last time, tying it over your eyes. This again.
The familiarity stiffening your nipples. He saw them poking through your shirt and immediately dove in once your eyes had been rendered useless. Lifting up the hem of your shirt and greedily sucking them sore.
“Ahh” you moan, lifting your chest pushing into him.
“Mmmmm” he deeply hums. Hungry for more of you.
“You look perfect like this” his fingers tracing you once again like he did on that first night.
You started to grab your sheets in your fists trying to anticipate what would happen next.
He lowered himself down to your waist kissing your abdomen and licking your belly button. You shuttered at his tongue's warm touch. Lips curling he lowered down to your heat. Giving small kitten licks to your little bundle of nerves making you lift your hips hoping he’ll press his face into you. Your body wiggling, begging for more, gave him deep satisfaction.
The primal feelings that you brought out of him were new. He had never felt these cravings before the day he caught you in his arms.
He gave you what you wanted and bit into you. You gave a small squeal of pain followed by a sign of pleasure as his tongue played with your poor clit trapped between his teeth.
You knew he liked you quiet so you tried to muffle your groans. Kakashi loved how hard you tried to stay silent and loved to push you to your limits to see if you’d break. The harder you tried, the meaner he’d treat your engorged bundle of nerves. Sucking and teething on it while you squirmed and convulsed. It was a most cruel game indeed.
Your knuckles turning white while gripping your silky sheets, Kakashi hooked his arms around your thighs holding you still and his tongue sank into your entrance only to sweep back up to your bud. Tears seeped out from under the headband. He knew he was getting to you. He clamped down on your bud, sucking it hard while sinking his fingers inside of you. Pressing into your g spot, his eyes beamed up at your face. He watched as you gritted your teeth trying so hard to hold back a scream. Your entire core was tight and getting more and more tense. He could feel your walls cutting off the circulation to his fingers before you released your sweet cream into his mouth.
“That’s a good girl” he cooed as your body fell limp on the bed. All this and he still hadn’t even been inside of you yet. You weren’t sure how much more you could take.
You felt the mattress sink as he crawls back up to your face,
“Lick it off of me” he purrs
You reach out your tongue and taste yourself on his chin and cheeks. Once you’ve consumed your cum off his face he kisses you. His saliva mixing with your slick. He enjoyed tormenting you. Demeaning you in ways no other man ever would. You hated how much you loved it. You craved more.
He grabbed you at your hips, flipping you over before pulling you up to your knees. You tried to lift your head but he pushed it back down into the mattress.
“Be good and keep your back arched.”
You quietly agreed.
He struck your cheek with force causing you to yelp and tuck your tail under.
“I said keep your back arched…”
He struck you again as you tried to unround your back. The pain creating an internal struggle. He smacked your cheeks several times leaving them red and sore. Embarrassingly the pain only made you more wet and anxious to be filled by him. He knew exactly what this was doing to you. He knew the pain would make your orgasm more intense.
He teases your hole with his tip. You pushed back into him trying to get him to slide into your entrance. He pushed you away by inserting his thumb into your rear. A sharp gasp came from your beautiful mouth.
“Don’t get greedy. I have all night to play with you.”
You shut tight around his thumb but he wiggled it, brushing in just the right spot causing you to relax and sink his thumb in deeper. How did this feel so good?
As you sank, he inserted himself into your needy cunt.
His breath hitched. You were warmer and wetter than he could have ever imagined. Your walls sucked him in, never wanting to let him escape. He rubbed his thumb while stroking in and out of you. The stimulus in your rear forcing you to immediately orgasm only after a few strokes. Encouraged by your quick climax he picked up the pace causing you to shake from over sensitivity spinning you into yet another orgasm. Seeing his cock covered in your cream he pulled out of your rear and grabbed you by the neck lifting your chest up, arching your back, making you sing as he slammed into you over and over again. Your hands were no longer able to touch the bed as he pulled your neck closer and closer to him. His balls slapping relentlessly into your poor, poor, bud. You were turning into a heap of flesh, completely undone by your many orgasms. Allowing Kakashi to use you as he saw fit, he tore into you with extreme endurance. You didn’t think he would ever stop.
“I’m…close…” he finally grunted. If it was possible, he thrusted even faster just before pulling out. You felt his warm ropes shooting onto your bare back. He wipes as much as he can onto his fingers and fish hooks your mouth so you turn around and accept his sticky digits, sucking his seed off of them. He pulls you in, hugging you from behind but only to play with your extremely sensitive clit. You shriek and twitch before he pushes you face down on the bed.
You hear him pull his pants back up before he removes his headband from around your eyes. You turn up to face him. Your eyes glazed over with tears stained on your cheeks. Satisfied with your used and battered state, he lifts your covers up over you, giving you a masked kiss on the forehead.
You reach up and grab his hand, “Wait…” you pant
“I can’t, I have a report to finish and another mission to prepare for.” Seeing the disappointment in your face he reassures you, “I’ll be back when I’m done...remember, look exactly like this” he says brushing his fingers over your cheek.
Unable to keep your eyes open any longer, you pass out on your bed. Your body, completely exhausted from Kakashi’s abuse.
You wake up the next morning sore and aching. You noticed the neighborhood dog was asleep at the foot of your bed. “When did you get in here?” you wonder aloud. You assume he must have sneaked in as Kakashi left you last night.
Once again you find yourself confused and alone, waiting for the ever cold Kakashi to come back and light a fire between your legs. But the same question that had plagued you for the past three weeks returned; When would he be back?

Not all stories are happy.
Not all soulmates are reciprocal.
Not all people could change their destiny.
Of course, in a perfect world, one person’s soulmate would also be another person’s soulmate. But reality went far beyond fairy tales and, as such, not all soulmates were mutual – and a person only knew their destiny when it was too late.
For years, people woke up with words tattooed on their wrists. They were simple, small words, just for the purpose of summarizing people’s love lives with their true love.
There were the luckier ones who woke up with little ‘fulfilled’ or ‘happily ever after’ on their wrists after their wedding. There were also those who had little ‘close call’ or ‘don’t try again’ written on their wrists on the coldest nights. And there were also those that read painfully ‘not destined’ or even ‘maybe in a next life’ that caused an inexplicable burning in the eyes of those who received such words. There were those who liked it, there were those who didn’t mind a mere tattoo and there were also those who did everything to force a soulmate into their lives.
The reality is that a person’s tattoo was already inscribed on them from the moment their soul found a body, always wanting to arrive at the right time to make itself noticed. And that was why no one could change their destiny.
But none of that matter. None of that mattered one bit to Kakashi. Because he only had one thing in mind: becoming strong and reliable. Kakashi didn’t care about dating or romance. Kakashi just wanted to do his duty as a shinobi.
But, of course, no matter how much he didn’t want to know, no matter how much he showed he didn’t want to know, his father was always attentive to him, always wanting to make him even minimally interested in the subject. After all, parents only wanted the best for their children.
And that was why Sakumo forced Kakashi to sit next to him on that cold, foggy morning.
“Kakashi, there is beauty in the midst of all this chaos.”
Sakumo’s voice was lost amid the fog, a phrase of pure harmony and delicacy trying to find its way in the thick maze of clouds and trees that invaded the territory.
There was a pause.
Kakashi didn’t deign to respond – he knew perfectly well where this conversation would end, he knew perfectly well what awaited him.
“The world is not driven by war alone.”
“Dad…”
Kakashi let a long and monotonous sigh escape his small lips, muffled by the dark mask, trapped inside the fabric without being able to show his total dissatisfaction.
“Not again. I have class in a bit.”
Kakashi stood up carefully and a little hesitantly. The truth is he didn’t want to leave his father alone. Kakashi didn’t want to abandon him once again at the mercy of fairy tales that did nothing but deceive a person.
However, Sakumo gave him no other choice. The cheap repetition of stories and princesses and kings became tiring – there was no longer any surprise in his father’s speech, there was no longer any hope for Kakashi.
As such, he was determined to abandon his father sooner than expected, his little feet taking short, uncertain steps to get away from his father, to get away from yet another unwanted conversation.
“Kakashi, why do you think there is war?”
Kakashi stopped his step with some abruptness.
That simple question from Sakumo echoed strongly inside Kakashi’s head, causing small dizziness in his mind where several possible answers appeared without any invitation, assaulting the little child’s sanity, making him question everything.
Why does war exist?
Of course, the main answer focused on people’s inability to be able to communicate with each other. There was also that need to come out and show their disgusting egos – that is the second answer to that question.
But there was something more.
There had to be something more.
People didn’t start wars just because they were bored.
…
Right?
Throughout his small and short existence, Kakashi has lived in a world of war and from an early age he was trained and taught to live and survive amidst so much devastation and anguish. Kakashi’s entire existence was shaped around the thick and aggressive sphere of what moved the world – war.
Would he have to know why?
In reality, Kakashi didn’t care if someone wanted to conquer the world, or if someone was kidnapped or killed unleashing days and months and years of pure destruction. Kakashi only had the mission to fight the war – that was all that mattered. Now the reason?
“I don’t care. Certainly the origin of all wars has an illogical basis. I have to stop the war. I don’t need to know why it started.”
Sakumo smiled and let his son go on his way, slowly losing sight of him as he began to be consumed by the fog.
Sakumo’s lips formed a perfect smile, a smile that left a trail of sadness with it because he knew perfectly well what was going to happen that day – Sakumo couldn’t really smile, not when he knew the end was near.
But there was something else hidden in his smile.
No matter how loud the voices screamed in his mind, the reality was that Sakumo feared for his son. Sakumo feared that Kakashi would never experience the beautiful pleasures of love as he himself had once experienced.
And there was nothing to do. There was nothing to do when Kakashi only focused on the human intellect. There was nothing to do when Kakashi purposely denied all the emotions that moved the world. There was simply nothing to do.
And Sakumo kept smiling.
His cold fingers gently stroked a small ‘there will be more in the next life’ that was fading due to the passage of time.
Several memories of a short and intense love began to haunt him in such a way that Sakumo didn’t even notice when the sadness on his lips turned into hope.
That hadn’t been the last life with his beloved – Sakumo knew that.
Then, muttering the answer to the question he himself asked his son, Sakumo stood up as well.
He knew perfectly well that there would be a second chance for his love. He knew perfectly well that Kakashi would realize the reality of the world they lived in. He knew perfectly well that everything would end well.
After all, there has never been a war without love.
Kakashi had lost everything.
There was nothing left for someone so young.
At fourteen, Kakashi’s entire life fell apart before his own eyes. Without family or friends, without anyone who could support him, he had lost everything – including his way in this world. Kakashi was wandering through the days, lost on the path of life, with no knowledge of maps or no guides that could help him.
Kakashi had lost everything, until he gained a new friendship, a new hope.
You appeared with the arrival of spring. Uncertain and always encouraging steps, an enormous desire for knowledge to be noticed in the intense shine of your sweet eyes, and wide smiles enchanting anyone.
You brought with you the breath of fresh air that prevailed at that time of year. Your feet encouraged so many beautiful flowers to bloom, new lives were created by you, new paths were drawn by your bare feet. The innocence of someone who had not yet experienced the evils of the world painted your smile with an extra tenderness that gave your cheekbones small splashes of the passion that the sun felt for you.
That spring day, when Kakashi saw you leaning over a hollow log, you carried something more than pure curiosity and amusement in your fingertips. You brought with you the hope of a new life for Kakashi, a hope that was felt by him when he, very clumsily, stopped you from rolling with the log to the bottom of the cliff.
Quickly, like someone blowing a leaf, something formed between you. A friendship? Probably. It was hard to be sure with Kakashi. But whatever you and he shared, you both knew it was something unique, something true.
A new stage in both of your lives was discovered in the other’s presence, a vast and longing wave of feelings beginning to form in you.
There was complicity between the both of you.
Since your first meeting next to that log, you and Kakashi shared an enviable complicity. Each one understood the other without the need to exchange words. A simple look, a simple sign, was enough for one to be understood by the other.
Days were spent together. Little secrets were exchanged amidst laughter and sighs, two distinct lives were soaked in pure melancholy, drenched in an extreme longing for a long-lost past.
And your adolescence has never looked so beautiful in the eyes of others.
Before you knew it, you and Kakashi have reached adulthood. And what used to be so simple and natural now seemed complicated with so many glances and hidden smiles and that hint of desire that clung to every word you exchanged.
Quickly, like someone forming a smile, beyond that very natural friendship, something more emerged between you. Something deeper began to emerge between the two of you.
“I don’t understand people’s admiration for the stars.”
You stretched a little as you sat next to Kakashi, the red blanket you always carried protecting you from the cold wind of that autumn night. “It’s something that has existed since the beginning of time. There are maps and photographs of them everywhere. Why the fascination?”
“It’s like war.”
The rest of your team rested silently on the ground, wrapped and cozy by a small fire starting by you, the tranquility of a successful mission being noted by their deep and steady breaths.
You and Kakashi were relaxing on one of the many branches of the most colorful and sturdy tree near your camp, your vision completely focused on the vast starry sky and the faint line of the horizon painted by the small mountains covered in snow.
There was silence on the ground and there was silence in the tree branches.
The breeze had been encouraged by several clouds venturing along unknown paths, giving you a little privacy on that very welcoming night. The moon was small, gaining strength for a more special date, slowly feeding on the desire of the most melancholy people who wrote to her. Every animal in the forest slept near you, the heat of the fire that crackled so loudly convincing the most diverse living beings to truly rest that night – except you and Kakashi.
“The war?”
You couldn’t contain the laughter that formed inside you, a sound so melodious and innocent that it woke up nature itself for a brief moment. The breeze had returned to you only to take with it the pure sound you released, keeping among the various clouds and stars the memory of your innocent question and laugh.
“How does the fascination of the stars compare to the war?”
“Humans can’t live without them.”
Kakashi was leaning against the trunk reading one of his typical books. None of his words were of the slightest interest. His uncovered eye cautiously read each line of the book. And he just waited for an answer. He waited for your curiosity. He waited for you.
“My dear Kakashi, I live well without both. Does that make me non-human?”
Kakashi let a long, amused sigh escape his lips and grab the echo of your new laugh. By closing the book and adopting a posture more favorable to a conversation, Kakashi let his movements continue over time.
The relaxing crackle of the fire calmly accompanied your team captain’s gestures as you fixed your eyes on Kakashi in the vain hope of encouraging him to speak or, at the very least, to hurry up.
However, there was no rush in Kakashi’s movements – all the time he took to sit next to you and stare at the stars seemed like an eternity to you.
But finally, Kakashi spoke.
“Of course you live well without both. But would you be the same person you are if they didn’t exist? Would you be complete if they didn’t exist?”
“Are you insinuating that we humans need to have stars and wars to be real?”
It seemed like an outrage. What Kakashi had just insinuated to you seemed to be wrapped in a thick layer of blasphemy and nonsense. The indignation at those words was reflected in the way you looked at the various leaves that framed Kakashi in an ethereal casing of change.
What was once a peaceful setting has now become a stage for nature. Strong winds and thick clouds slowly began to appear, hoping they could continue listening to Kakashi’s thoughts. Small nocturnal birds greeted you shyly with sweet and tender melodies that spread through the sleeping forest and made you smile.
“It’s what moves us.”
“I’m sorry,” you let out a fake laugh as you composed yourself on the tree branch.
You turned to Kakashi and focused your attention on his relaxed posture. Curiosity was caught in your eyes, and an eagerness to prolong that conversation could be seen in the way you so firmly and enthusiastically pronounced the words. “But I still don’t follow your reasoning.”
“A’right, let’s go step by step.”
“Please.”
Kakashi let out a small, almost inaudible laugh at your tender plea.
His eyes were now resting on your very curious posture: your arms adjusted the red blanket to also shelter Kakashi on that cold night; your eyes sparkled with the enthusiasm of yet another conversation with your best friend; your smile warmed Kakashi more than any blanket or fire could do.
“The stars, yea? We all know that since ancient times they have been the cause of all happiness and pain for people. People in ancient civilizations worshiped the stars as gods and saw in them countless stories and life lessons. And the very own people of those civilizations used the stars and their positions for agriculture and to make decisions. Are you following?”
“Yes, professor.”
You let out another laugh as you placed your legs over Kakashi’s and gently slid closer to him. The night was getting cold, the fire was on the ground and all you had was a red blanket and Kakashi.
And how he thanked all the gods for wearing a mask and for the moon being lazy that night. For, the pink tone he quickly adopted when he felt you so close to him only revealed how much he was waiting for that action of yours.
“So…”
A brief moment of silence followed after Kakashi’s statement.
Your captain’s reasoning was lost with your innocent act. It was a simple, affectionate gesture, something that had been repeated so many times. And, like every other time, Kakashi simply lost any coordination – the feeling of having you so close to him was fantastic, almost magical.
Thus, a brief moment of silence followed as Kakashi tried to find the thread of his thought, as Kakashi tried to grasp that thread without losing the very welcoming feeling of having you close to him.
“So,” he repeated again, his posture always relaxed and carefree, the mask being the perfect hiding place for his rosy face. “People adopted these little habits from their ancestors and that’s why there are so many people who still marvel at the stars. Of course, all romantics are also enchanted by them.”
“Why?”
Pause. Silence. Contemplation.
Why? In fact, that was always the question you asked. That was always the question that made sense to ask. Indeed, why?
Kakashi stared at the stars, trying to understand why. You stared at Kakashi, waiting for him to answer why.
But the answer never came. The answer never showed up and beautified your ears with sweet justifications and immaculate logic. For, realizing that there really wasn’t a defined reason for that question, Kakashi continued his reasoning.
Your captain’s voice was drawn out and always monotonous as if it were perpetually stuck in a timbre that conveyed a vast sense of comfort.
And you listened carefully to every word Kakashi said. You listened attentively to everything he had to say, always trying hard to follow his thoughts.
“Now the war.”
Kakashi paused briefly and took a deep breath.
A sigh that seemed to be filled with tiredness escaped his lips without realizing it – the memories of conversations he had with his father were felt at that exact moment. And they weighed. They weighed so much.
“War has always existed. Since the beginning of humanity there has been war. No wars, no humans. It is in our condition as human beings – it is our need. We crave destruction. We seek chaos. It’s in us. We need war to move us. Because, quite simply, we are the war. Without it, what would we do? Who would we be? That’s why there is fascination with it. That’s why there’s so much admiration. War is the stars of the most political. And the stars are the war of the most romantic.”
“So, by that logic, love is the war of the most philosophical.”
Kakashi looked at you with confusion expressed in his eye. The various and infinite stars reflected in Kakashi’s gaze showed that, in fact, he had not understood the use of your words.
Why did you decide to grab love out of nowhere?
Why did you decide to bring that taboo into the middle of a conversation that was so special to both of you?
Why?
You noticed the confusion in Kakashi’s lack of reaction. You realized that there must be doubt in your captain’s thoughts. Looking at Kakashi, it was easy to decipher the confusion he felt and you were intrigued, fascinated even.
“Do you really think that it is only war that moves the world?”
Kakashi opened his mouth but you didn’t know.
Kakashi closed his mouth again and you didn’t even notice.
In your captain’s mind, that last conversation he had with his father began to replay endlessly. Sakumo’s words came up whenever that dangerous topic was brought up – it seemed that Sakumo’s cheap philosophies tormented Kakashi until that day.
But it wasn’t always like that – no.
From the moment Kakashi met you, Sakumo’s haunting finally ceased.
There was no need to understand love because, quite simply, and even though he didn’t know it, Kakashi was experiencing that feeling so strong, so true. There was no need to recall a conversation that tried to explain something he was feeling, even though he couldn’t decipher that specific something.
Therefore, for several years, Sakumo’s words that were imbued with understanding and affection had been forgotten, completely erased from Kakashi’s memory.
No. Wrong. The words were still there, safe, inside Kakashi’s heart.
And it only took your question, your question so similar to Sakumo’s question, to free the words and torment Kakashi again.
“Kashi?”
You let out a laugh.
Kakashi certainly knew there was something more than war. He positively knew that not everything was destruction or contempt in this world. He had to know there was beauty and hope. He had to know that there was something good in this world. Kakashi had to know all this – right?
“Love?”
The word burned in Kakashi’s mouth, his melancholic eye locked in your eyes, the reflection of the universe trapped in your fingertips.
“Love.”
Your response came with a real, genuine smile. Your eyes showed a light and tenuous sadness while a tiny hope threatened to collapse at any moment.
You spoke like love itself. Delicate and light, your lips pronounced that word with precision and extreme ease.
You spoke like love itself. Your smile was genuine and embellished by the infinite stars, painted by the cool night breeze. Your eyes were sad, scared and fearful of the drastic change of an event, of a feeling.
You spoke like love itself. You spoke in a mix of emotions that were foreign to Kakashi, a thick ball of feelings and memories was trapped in your expression and made Kakashi feel confused.
You spoke like love itself, but Kakashi could only speak like war.
Kakashi spoke like war itself. Without any feeling, afraid of what his lips could utter, scared of the strength of the word itself.
Kakashi spoke like war itself. His every word and thought was completely calculated by him, no mistake to be uttered by Kakashi, the doubt that escaped his lips bringing a bit of wisdom.
Kakashi spoke like war itself. Kakashi spoke knowing perfectly well what awaited him, he spoke knowing perfectly well the answer to his question.
And between war and love there was a brief moment of silence. A moment of tranquility brought by the infinite stars.
Between war and love there was a moment of serenity that was heard only by your careful breathing, your gaze locked on each other, your smile slowly fading as time passed.
Love.
Was that the answer to his father’s question? No. It couldn’t be something so simple like that – but there was no such thing as simplicity in love.
“Love.”
Kakashi said his statement again, allowing a fragile and invisible line to escape his mask and take with it the bruning of that word.
There was something comforting in your gaze, something soothing in the way you held the blanket tight to you. There was something serene in the way you rested your legs on Kakashi’s, something welcoming in the way you and him stood together under that starry sky.
“Love” – Kakashi never found it easier to pronounce that word.
Days without you were boring.
Everyone knew that whenever you were on a mission without being on Kakashi’s team, he would roam the streets of the village like he used to do before he met you. Everyone knew that, for Kakashi, days without you simply didn’t make sense, not when you and he had already become fully accustomed to each other’s presence.
And that day wasn’t much different from the others.
Kakashi walked through the streets calmly. His feet shuffled without any energy, one of his hands sheltered in his pants pocket, the other holding a book close to his face.
Kakashi didn’t pay attention to what he was reading or where he was walking. Having already read and reread that book so many times, having already walked those streets countless times, Kakashi didn’t need to pay attention – because something else occupied his mind.
Your mission was somewhat complicated and you left with a good team, yes. But Kakashi couldn’t trust them, not when your integrity could be at risk – Kakashi could only worry about you.
A melancholy trail was left by Kakashi’s short and relaxed steps.
His eyes read and reread the same page over and over as his mind wandered to so many possible scenarios that could happen to you.
How he hated being away from you at a scary time like that.
Kakashi had been your team captain enough times for him to know you knew how to take care of yourself. But you were also distracted and that was what bothered Kakashi. A distraction from you, an ambush from them, a misfortune from the universe – everything seemed plausible when he was away from you.
He just wanted to be with you, to hear from you, to know that you were okay. He had to be with you.
But regardless of whether or not you managed to get home safe and sound, Kakashi spent his days monotonously without you by his side.
Even though Guy continued to make his occasional appearances, enticing Kakashi into meaningless duels; even though Naruto and Sakura could fill a fragment of the void you created; even though he knew you would be back next week, the reality is that Kakashi simply couldn’t live the days in your absence.
Not since that night under the starry sky. Not when the confession of a love came out disguised in a novice and somewhat shaky pronunciation.
What could Kakashi do? Just wandering around the village without your company. Just wishing every day was shorter than the last. Just peacefully wait for your arrival.
“Today I received my words!”
Naruto was always so loud.
Kakashi lazily looked up from his book and watched Naruto talk excitedly to Sakura and Shikamaru. The smiles they shared with each other were big, contagious, as if enticing Kakashi to also let out a small smile.
“Hinata is my soulmate!”
“I got mine during the war. It was Ino who noticed,” Sakura let out a small laugh as she recalled her chaotic reactions when she discovered that Sasuke was, in fact, the man the universe had destined for her. “What about you, Shikamaru?”
“Nothin’.”
A small sigh escaped Shikamaru’s lips and brought with it the hope of not having to worry about a soulmate anytime soon.
“What about you, Kakashi-sensei?”
“I don’t pay attention to that.”
A shrug was enough to direct the conversation back to Shikamaru.
But Kakashi kept thinking. Without realizing it, all the younger’s’ speeches were obstructed with the thought that, perhaps, Kakashi had already received his words.
It was true that Kakashi avoided looking at his wrist – since that night, the mere thought of love scared him.
Once, Kakashi simply didn’t care about something as trivial as love. The mere thought of such a feeling brought only haunting of long, uninteresting conversations with his father. But now, after that night, there was fear in the feeling. There was an extra fear that burned in Kakashi’s heart when he allowed himself the luxury of thinking about something as dangerous as love.
Ever since that night, the mere thought of love scared Kakashi because, quite simply, Kakashi couldn’t imagine that word without picturing you.
And Kakashi blamed you. Yes, you. You were the bringer of Kakashi’s destruction. Because, since that night, Kakashi really started to see the world differently. And he blamed you. He blamed that word. He blamed all the stars.
But had any mark already been engraved on his wrist?
Leaving conversations and laughter behind, Kakashi returned home.
A single goal was stuck in his mind. A single need ran through his heart. A single feeling moved Kakashi. Love.
The four walls of Kakashi’s room had never felt as cozy as they did at that moment.
It was the end of the day.
The last rays of sunlight were lost in Kakashi’s room. Shades of gold and hope burned fiercely in the three frames that rested delicately on his little furniture. Your face and Kakashi’s were adorned with light celestial tones from the last ray of sunlight, enhancing the joy and comfort that that photograph brought to Kakashi.
Night fell so quickly that it didn’t even give the sun a chance to warm Kakashi’s room.
It was cold.
The proud and bright moon contrasted with the weakness of that night, the stars taking the night off to give the various and diverse clouds their turn to shine.
There was darkness and there was cold.
In the midst of that discomfort, Kakashi looked for some warmth in his wrists.
His right wrist had nothing on it – the pale skin brought a bit of disappointment to him.
But there was still hope. There was still a second chance.
Cautiously taking off his left glove, Kakashi saw a single word shining in the moonlight.
‘Almost’.
Almost?
Kakashi’s mouth opened slightly on impulse as his eyes repeatedly read and reread that single word that was carved into his wrist.
How long had it been there? How long ago did fate decide to steal you from him? Almost? Why ‘almost’? Hadn’t his confession that night been enough for you? Wouldn’t the vulnerability with which he uttered and repeated that forbidden word have been enough for both of you? Almost. Almost? Why? Could he have done something? Could he have done nothing?
A wave of corruption completely washed away any and all hope Kakashi might have had. The curiosity that once drove Kakashi’s gestures was entirely replaced by regret and frustration.
Could he go back? Could he do something to change that word?
Surely if you arrived and he confessed everything he wanted and felt for you, maybe you would reciprocate his words.
No. Not ‘maybe’. Kakashi was sure there was reciprocity. That night left no doubt. The way you two spoke, the way you looked at each other, the way you pronounced the forbidden word.
Yes. There was definitely still a little hope, even if it was small. And Kakashi knew, as years of war had taught him, that hope would always be the last to die. Surely the same applied to love. Right? – you said it yourself: love is the war of the most philosophical.
Yes. Hope.
‘Almost’ wasn’t the word Kakashi had chosen to dictate his fate, no. It was ‘hope’.
Clinging to that small flame that had quickly lit in Kakashi’s heart, he watched the remaining days pass slowly and wistfully.
Kakashi just wanted you to come back as soon as possible. He just wanted to cheat fate once and for all and grab the happiness he had been so deprived of. Would it be too much to ask?
‘Almost’. Pathetic.
‘Almost’. Of course it wasn’t almost – Kakashi would never allow it to be ‘almost’.
And when you arrived, Kakashi carried the war with him – he was determined to change his destiny, even though he was scared. There was determination in his steps, Kakashi’s eyes so empty conveying a bit of uncertainty, of fear, of regret in actions he should have done long ago.
Waiting for you for so long only gave Kakashi permission to think, to ponder all the opportunities that were missed by him in fear of a confession made of decent words – he could make a list of all the waste that was lost.
The ‘almost’ was right.
Years passed – Kakashi should have known better. He had so many books about it, he should have known better. It wasn’t enough to just say a complicated word. It was not enough to just feel a complex feeling. Kakashi had to show – and Kakashi never showed.
But now Kakashi was determined to change that. Kakashi was determined to change his destiny.
Just like war, Kakashi came to you without any warning.
Just like war, Kakashi caught you unnoticed in a spontaneous embrace of longing and nostalgia. It was rare for Kakashi to express his love, but you couldn’t deny that it was something that always made you smile.
You hugged Kakashi back, your arms fitting perfectly around his body, the way his strong arms squeezed you in a comforting embrace making you more relaxed. Although you had already arrived at the village two days ago, it was at that moment that you truly felt at home.
“How’s the mission?”
That wasn’t the question Kakashi wanted to ask – it wasn’t what he had rehearsed.
But you started a long, drawn-out monologue about all the ups and downs of that mission that lasted almost two weeks. A rollercoaster of emotions was reported by you as Kakashi listened attentively to every word out of your mouth.
And, while he listened to you, he looked intently at your arms.
Kakashi’s empty eyes searched for tattoos made by the stars. The curiosity to know your fate was what moved Kakashi’s eyes and forced him to look at your body.
Until finally he saw it.
‘It was close’.
It was close?
What absurd words had fate given you? It didn’t make sense.
Was it close that you didn’t end up with Kakashi? Was it close that you fell into someone else’s love trap? What did those words mean? What did they mean in a vast sea of possibilities?
“And I got my tattoo on the way here.”
You extended your arm and gave Kakashi permission to read your mark better.
‘It was close’.
“I was confused by what it meant. But it made sense when I found…”
“Him?”
Him.
Kakashi knew who you were talking about.
You didn’t need to confess names or draw portraits with your words. Kakashi always knew who you were talking about, because he was the one you loved before you met Kakashi, and he was the one you loved during the early days of your friendship with Kakashi.
“Yea.”
The smile you let out reminded Kakashi of love: shy and so happy, a hint of accomplishment displayed in the beautiful curves of your lips, a sense of comfort trapped in your confession.
Love.
Damn you.
“He walk with me to the village and is staying here. Today we’re going to our first date.”
And that’s when Kakashi realized – no one could change their destiny.
With a fake smile and forced curiosity, Kakashi allowed you to nail long, painful barbs into his heart, erasing any hope he still had left, completely staining the forbidden word for Kakashi.
With a fake smile and tears trapped in his eyes, Kakashi allowed your happiness to flood his darkness, little stars of your joy faintly painting Kakashi’s pain.
Because, yes. Despite everything, Kakashi was happy.
Even though he would be happier with you, Kakashi was happy for you.
You overflowed with love.
Extreme happiness wrapped in a film of euphoria delicately filled your room. Your eyes shone with the emotion of a love about to be lived. Your wide smile managed to be contagious, even though Kakashi didn’t want to smile.
You were the embodiment of love.
You were hope and comfort from the first day he met you and he hated you for it.
Kakashi hated you because he knew he would never be able to find someone who had as much of an impact as you did. He would never be able to find someone who made the word ‘love’ mean as much as you did.
It was the way you spoke so happily about each other. It was the way you still cared about Kakashi like you still liked him. It was your own way of being.
You were kindness and simplicity hidden behind a strong sphere of complexity.
You were, undeniably, love.
And the conversation that night never made as much sense as it did at that moment.
In Kakashi’s realization, in the midst of all the suffering caused by you, you continued to move Kakashi. The way you still made Kakashi eager to see you. The way your company was still, and always would be, crucial to Kakashi. The way he still loved you after you caused him so much anguish.
You have always been the personification of the word love. And, just like the feeling itself, it was you who moved Kakashi’s world.

What if I just read "The Art of Losing" by @wafflelate a million billion times because it's my favorite.
Anyway the rest of this post is just going to be me going !!!!! so, spoilers ahead
Things I think intensely about:
-how suna is going to react to Gaara deciding to become the kazekage
-how any detractors of his new position are going to be IMMEDIATELY shut down because the "first" thing he does is "contract with a seals mistress to get the dead wastes converted into arable land" (who is going to prove it WASNT a seal? Sunas sealing sucks lol. And technically it did originate from a seal. Gelels seal.)
-how devastated Gai is going to be upon learning literally everything Kakashi went through
-how pissed as fuck people are going to be upon discovering that root seals can apparently block soulmate bonds? I feel like sealing people without their informed consent is about to become very very illegal outside of emergency circumstances.
-how the fuck is cat feeling. Does he believe Kakashi is dead? Does he hope Kakashi is alive?
-nara shikakunand yoshino are about to fucking eviscerate the elder council. Either they were aware of this bullshit or they were criminally negligent. Oh, what's that inoichi and shibi? Some of your family got kidnapped too? Maybe we should bring torture back to t&i. Just this once.
-kakashi is going to be so fucking proud of shikimaru. In his super repressed way. Maybe in a he deserves that legacy more than I ever did if he's feeling self deprecating.
-do you think temari has to sit through a million drafts and revised versions of kankuros shikabane play the more information comes out. Soul mates who were cut off completely from their connection, one believing the other dead, and the other never even educated about soul bonds. Them still recognizing each other enough that Kakashi was kind to her and she freed him instead of killing him. Please kankuro why can't you make the fight scenes longer.
-shikaku seeing shikakos complete shadow transformation and being like "yeah that's insanely dangerous to so much as think about attempting, I don't want to consider how bad things had to be for her to create that. Forbidden jutsu on account of who the fuck knows how she didn't end up falling into the black"
-does Gai feel like he failed Kakashi. Does he swear never to do so again. Imagine him thanking shikako for saving his friend. Imagine Kakashi being shocked Gai still considers him a friend
-hi inoichi this is my soulmate Kakashi, he did not take thinking I was assassinated well at all, do you have any self help books because he hates talking about feelings
-obviously she knows about seals because danzo wanted his own nara level intelligent seal master. Obviously she hid as much of her skill as she could from him because she isn't stupid.
-anyway here's a book a better storage scroll some medical seals and the seal to get rid of roots evil tattoo of shittyness.
-actually now I'm thinking about what if she DOES join suna because Kakashi has trouble feeling safe in konoha or just because being around a shikamaru who never knew her and idolizes Kakashi is kind of awkward.
-if they share dreams do you think she explains her original world to Kakashi after he dreams of cities he's never seen.
-wondering who was the first person to remember the lookalike yoshino nara missing nin that got mentioned in that one report.
-if I think about how nervous Kakashi is going to be the first time he trolls shikako and how he'll feel when she grins or laughs or goes along with it I experience An Emotion™
-"I don't know if you'll like them, but here's other you's favorite books. They make a good social barrier, and you've been looking a little overwhelmed."
-yoshino is going to cry so so so much. Her baby needed her all this time and she never knew it.
-kakashi learning that he was absolutely invited to shikakos funeral and danzo is just a dick who lies
#nara shikako#shikako nara#dreaming of sunshine#wafflelate#the art of losing by wafflelate#the many gardens of shikabane hime#is that everything? no. i love that fic.#ive actually only read it seven or eight times so far

Tenten if she was the main character
Not to be taken too seriously
Written Jan 24, 2023 (clearing drafts lol)
Just wanted to explore some power-ups weapons etc… that could have been given if she had time to actually expand etc
Custom weapon
We get a taste of her gigantic iron ball in the filler episodes I believe
But when she already mastered all weapons at 13 then the next step is a special weapon just for her
They even kinda touch on this in the games, in NUNS4 the Shikamaru adventure side quest has her make a custom weapon and Shikamaru is impressed by how she made it so she has the ability to mix and mash weapons to make something unique
And I don’t need her to be a villain/antagonist but she could have easily been the scientific ninja tool starter as it ties into her weapon-like
Sealing
We see her keep her weapons in scrolls but I think just expanding on sealing outside of the regular item storage summoning could have worked
From just having it more available like how Sasuke has his wristbands that he can use to easily reverse summoned Shuriken and etc
To going Fate’s Gilgamesh and summoning them out of thin air
Like people joke about characters using kunai and etc but in reality if someone had the chance to slit a character like Madara’s throat if he doesn’t get healed up immediately he would have died
Random ideas I had:
Seal tattoos
Just think that if she made herself the storage she can just send chakra through her body and the weapon will pop out and to having seals all on her would effectively be tattoos,
Can be how Naruto’s seal works where only active with chakra, or something more permanent and she’s totally inked out
Just think it would be cool if she just sent chakra to her shoulder then out came a shield or sent to her finger and some Shuriken popped out, her palm a sword, her foot a tanto etc
Switchable weapon
Similar idea but she links her weapons with seals so that if she sends chakra through the seal it swaps out the weapon automatically like she’s using the staff then with some chakra it swaps to a sword mid motion then chakra agin now it’s a mace
Based on the part 1 Tenten from the Storm games where she just cycles through weapons instantly in her Taijutsu combos
Plus woul be a unique weapon for her as only she would know how to send chakra to get the weapon she wants
Lastly legendary weapons
Kishimoto had the right idea with having her use the six paths weapons
The thing was due to her chakra she couldn’t use it a lot
So I think it would be nice to start that idea earlier and she uses/acquires legendary weapons
From the 7 swords of the mist, to more filler weapons like that Thunder sword that was apparently the second Hokage to just not as known to us weapons like Sakumo’s/Kakashi’s chakra blade that glowed white is a good idea
But yeah I just think they took this character that can use any weapon and mostly relegated her to long range kunai throwing as they focused more on her accuracy than her weapon mastery as in any other anime she would be using a sword a ton or if she sticks to long range would be some menace like Gilgamesh or plenty of archers or snipers and etc

Book Club (Kakashi Hatake)
Chapter 2 - Another Ambush, Poorly Executed
You learn very quickly that Naruto Uzumaki has a big mouth.
word count 5.7k (chapter 2/9 - 7.6k words total)
read it on ao3 here
Kakashi arrives on time, for once. Part of you is a little disappointed - your genin only left an hour ago, and since you had them up at the asscrack of dawn, you were hopeful you'd be able to squeeze in a nap before Kakashi arrived to spar. You'd even spent extra time choosing a particularly comfortable tree to lean back against. As it is, you're only just finishing your lunch when you sense his chakra in the forest behind you.
"Good afternoon, Kakashi!", you call out through a mouthful of rice once he's within earshot. "Surely my watch is broken!"
"Aah... is my reputation really that bad?"
You snicker as he drops down from a branch, landing with his hands in his pockets. "I've heard rumours that Tsunade-sama has included in your file you're to be told missions start an hour earlier than they actually do." Lady Tsunade has taken fantastically to her role as Hokage, but you still see a shadow of worry pass over Kakashi. No doubt he's reminded of Orochimaru; you've heard rumours about the Uchiha boy, too, that are perhaps best to steer away from.
Kakashi is back to his usual, blank-faced self before you can think of something to say. "Well, old age slows you down, so they say."
You scowl at him and push to your feet. "We're the same age, Hatake. Didn't you ever learn not to call a lady old?" Unfortunately, you back gives a resounding pop when you straighten, which you feel rather takes the threat out of your words. He chuckles.
"You're slower getting up than you used to be.", Kakashi notes, not unkindly. You toss another scowl, along with your flak jacket, freeing up your arms to really stretch out the tension from your morning training session.
"Hey, my genin are getting stronger! Sometimes I actually have to try when we're sparring now. It's weird. And exhausting. I'm just counting down the days 'til they pass the Chuunin exams and I can get some peace and quiet." A few rolls of your neck have you feeling much better; you take back your jacket from Kakashi, then crouch to strap your weapons pouches back on.
He begins to prepare himself, too, rewrapping his bandages and checking his pockets. "I saw them in the market on my way here. You have the Inuzuka girl, don't you? She's... very loud. Almost as much Naruto."
"Keiko-", you groan fondly, "She's insane, Kakashi. I've never known a kid to be so utterly crazy. If I ever came up against her in a real battle I think I'd just kill myself to save the headache." He hums in sympathy - from what you've heard, his own team are even more of a handful. Since you started teaching Keiko basic fire-type chakra control, she's developed a particular affinity for blowing things up. You've since been instructed to keep these training sessions away from trees, homes, and anything else remotely flammable. But she's also an incredibly sweet kid when you aren't chasing her around, and her companion Aomaru is a real cutie.
Kakashi tosses his flak jacket against the base of a tree trunk, and you're pretty sure you see Icha Icha poking out one of the pockets. Come to think of it, it is pretty hot now the sun is up. You leave your own jacket next to his, then peel off your long-sleeve too, leaving you in a tank top that exposes the scar of your old ANBU tattoo. His eye flickers over it knowingly. You'd left the organisation just a few months after him, released back onto regular duty after the Uchiha massacre left the village short on jonin, and readjusting proved a challenge for both of you. You rub a palm over the faded skin there, and decide to put it out of your mind.
"Shall we focus on Taijutsu today?", you suggest brightly, leading the way onto the pitch.
"You sounded far too much like Gai just now."
You cackle, throwing yourself into a high somersault, and perform several flips before landing on the other side of the midway line to Kakashi. "It's because I'm so youthful and energetic, rival! All I need now is the green jumpsuit!"
"Stop it-", he grumbles, pinching his nose. "-I was looking forward to a training session that wouldn't leave me with a headache for once."
You grin. "When I'm finished with you, your whole body will be aching." You didn't even really mean that as an innuendo, but you're still pleasantly surprised to see how he stiffens for a split second. "So, Taijutsu?"
"Alright, then.", he nods, then he's vaulting into in the air and over your head and landing behind you without a sound, and you're sensing his familiar chakra start to thrum before you've even spun to meet him.
He throws a punch at the back of your head and you sidestep it, turning in to a high kick that he easily dodges; then he's coming at you again, a barrage of punches that you deflect and dodge and catch, barely even breathing hard. He's so relentless you have no chances to hit back, effortlessly guarding himself even as he rains down strikes on your forearms. It feels good to train like this, your movements flowing like water as you dance around him. You were always agile, even when you were a kid and you didn't even know what Taijutsu was. Sharingan no Kakashi is quick, but you are too.
The next time he strikes high you feint left, then right, watching his eye flash to keep up with you - there, he's watching your feet instead of your hands - you catch his wrist and use his momentum to pull his arm past your head, turning and driving your other elbow up into his ribcage. Kakashi grunts, twists free of you, and all of a sudden there's a foot driving into the back of your knee. You drop but manage to keep your balance, rolling around him and springing back to your feet just as he's on you again.
"It isn't like you to focus so much on offence-", you state matter-of-factly, letting him continue to bear down on you in the hopes of tiring him out a little. "You always let your opponents come to you, back in ANBU."
Kakashi doesn't so much as look at your face. "In those situations, I knew nothing about my opponents. It was better to stand back and let them reveal their weaknesses on their own." He's pressing you back so hard that you have no choice but to give ground. The trees are behind you and the sun is glinting off his hitai-ate and he mixes in a low kick, forcing you to leap backwards. At least he's starting to sound just slightly out of breath.
"On the other hand, I know how you fight. We've been teammates on enough missions for me to know your patterns." He says this as if he's discussing the weather, and not ramping up the intensity to push you backwards even faster. You cast out your chakra behind you and are instantly met with forest: he has you backed up against a solid tree trunk - you move as quickly as you can, darting left and pushing chakra from the soles of your feet to give you an explosive boost, flitting into the empty space behind him-
He catches you.
Kakashi's hand is around your neck and he's got you pressed against the tree trunk. "For example.", he continues, eye turned up in a smile. "You always go left when you're cornered."
...Damn. You do, don't you?
Despite your irritation at being read so easily, despite the fact you'd be dead if this was real, you laugh. Old enough to have a bad back, but at least not so old you can't learn. Kakashi's fingers are right up against your pulse point, surprisingly gentle considering the force with which he'd thrown you into the tree, and they loosen even more as you laugh. Now. You bring your knee up and kick him away square in the chest. It buys you enough time to slip into the cover of the forest, even if you're certain he let you land that hit on purpose.
The fight continues as you chase each other halfway around the forest and back again. You're determined to be more aggressive now, and to prove that you know him just as well as he knows you. So you hurl yourself at him over and over again, hardly letting him dodge around one tree before you're dropping on him from the boughs of the next, grappling with him when you reach clearings, even going so far as to drop a particularly large branch onto his head at one point.
Dodging it easily, Kakashi stares up at you. "That poor tree might miss that branch.", he deadpans, shoulders rising and falling rapidly with the weight of his panting breaths. He's stalling for time, but you're honestly glad of the break.
"Call it a casualty of war.", you say mournfully, too tired to think of a cleverer comeback. Your chest is heaving. Kakashi has always had more stamina than you, and the heat isn't helping even under the green-tinged shade of the tree canopy. A bead of sweat rolls from your hairline and all the way down your neck. There's no two ways about it, you're considerably more tired than Kakashi - but you're having so much fun. You haven't faced up against him properly since you were kids, and it's nice (if not a little strange) to see how far you've both come.
"Want to call it a day?", the silver-haired jonin calls. Clearly he can see how exhausted you are, and he sounds pretty tired too. You don't even pretend to consider his offer. He's already one-upped you, and you're no Gai, but you're not willing to accept any kind of defeat from a man who reads smut in public.
Instead, you pull a kunai from your pouch. "Absolutely not." Then you launch at him, and the fight continues. Sparks fly between your kunai with every strike, the sound of metal against metal and heavy breaths the only sound in the forest. Kakashi manages to back you up against another tree, but this time you jump and go over his head - he's smiling at you when you land, still smiling when he kicks you in the ribs, but it vanishes from his eye when you put a blast of chakra into your next palm strike and send him crashing back into that very same trunk. The forest is going to be ruined if you're not careful. Perhaps you can blame Keiko.
The battle has you dancing through the trees for what feels like only the blink of an eye, but by the time you're back out on the training pitch, the sun is lower in the sky than you remember. Every muscle in your body is screaming out in agony. You keep coming at him, pleased that even this tired your kunai is barely more than a quick glint in the sunlight. When the flow of motion takes you onto the river that rushes along the western edge of the pitch, you welcome it, pushing chakra from the soles of your feet and relishing in the cool breeze that comes off the water. Kakashi doesn't even cause the water to ripple when he chases you - an impressive display of chakra control even at your level.
Against a different opponent, you would hope to distract them from their chakra control, force them to plunge into the river rather than take a direct hit. But Kakashi doesn't so much as stagger when you go back on the offensive, not even when you sweep at his legs and he somersaults backwards onto the deeper water. It's frustrating, especially when you're this exhausted. So, you kick up a spray of water right into his face, a frankly childish move your genin have resorted to before.
He emerges looking distinctly like a wet dog, shaking his hair in a way that would be endearing if you weren't so focused on dashing forward into a shoulder strike; Kakashi lets you barge right into his chest, absorbing the impact, and he's wrapping his arms around you and then throwing you up over his head and it's all you can do to stay afloat as your back slams against the water - this is it, he's got you, you're too worn out and sweaty to roll away, so you just stare up at him and he - hang on, did he just glance at your chest? - the desperate wave of chakra you sent out to cushion your impact must have knocked his off balance because he's falling, one foot plunging into the river - you have your kunai at his throat before he's even on his knees.
"A draw?", you suggest, still on your back, practically gasping for breath. This is the best you can hope for against an opponent like him.
Kakashi is kneeling behind you, one hand on each side of your head, throat pulsing against the point of your blade. He's blank-faced for a moment, then blinks. "Alright, then."
You gladly drop your kunai, roll onto your stomach, and push to your feet with all the grace of an especially fat old dog. Kakashi's hand finds your bicep to give you a welcome boost. "I'd hate to have you as a sensei. I think I'd die if I had to fight like that every day.", you groan. As tough as you can be on your team, you've heard that Kakashi is much worse. It's a relief to get back onto solid ground and let your chakra melt away.
"Your endurance is really quite good, you know.", Kakashi replies. Although you do know, you can't help but feel flattered.
"Well, I must be getting lazy in my old age.", you tease, glad to see a sheepish crinkle to his eye. He brings both hands up in a mock surrender, hunching over, and he looks for all the world like a bedraggled cat with his floppy, dripping hair and one wet trouser leg. No doubt you look just as ridiculous - covered in sweat, with twigs in your hair and bruises already starting to form on your arms. Both of you are walking much more slowly than tiredness calls for.
By the time you reach the pile of your things, all you're really thinking about is a hot shower, and maybe a trip to the ramen stand this evening. You toss Kakashi his flak jacket and are reaching for your water container when you remember what you saw in his pocket earlier. "So, how are you finding that action novel?"
Kakashi splutters through his own mouthful of water. You quirk a concerned eyebrow at him as he pounds his chest. "Hah... I haven't had much time for reading this week, you know, my genin team have really been keeping me busy."
"That's a shame-", you shrug nonchalantly, starting to bundle your things into your backpack. You'll walk home without your jacket and enjoy the sun, you decide. "I'm looking forward to reading it. Take your time, though!" You don't want to seem too pushy and let him realise you're teasing him. "Right now I should really be focusing on preparing my team for the chuunin exams-"
"KAKASHI-SENSEI!!!"
The shout comes from the direction of town. You whip your head around and see a shock of orange racing across the training pitch. Kakashi barely has time to groan under his breath before Naruto Uzumaki screeches to a halt in front of you both.
"SENSEI! We've been waiting for you since noon, and we didn't even bring lunch!". The boy's blonde hair is sticking up haphazardly all at odd angles. "I only had one cup of instant ramen for breakfast, too!"
Kakashi doesn't react to the loud rumble of Naruto's stomach, and doesn't question how he found the two of you. "You see - well, I was helping (name)-san here catch a cat."
Naruto narrows his eyes and puts his hands on his hips. You're strangely reminded of Iruka Umino. "A cat? Then why have you been swimming?!".
Kakashi looks like he wishes he'd used his katon to dry off. A droplet of water rolls from his hair down his mask. "This was a special kind of cat that can control chakra to walk on water. That's why (name)-san needed my help."
His grey eye turns onto you, impressively blank, but you read the silent plea in it regardless. Naruto seems to notice you for the first time. "...Yes. The Hokage brought a shinobi cat back from her travels. He's very dear to her." You're pretty sure Tsunade-sama hates cats. Surely Naruto won't be fooled by this-
"Hmm...", he grumbles, seemingly accepting your poker face as trustworthy. Then his face splits into a wide grin, Kakashi's lateness apparently forgotten. "I'm great at catching cats. You should have got me to do it, Sensei!"
Kakashi pats Naruto on the head. "Well, we didn't catch him today. Your training session can be to find him before midnight." Poor Naruto suddenly seems so determined, you nearly laugh, but just about manage to turn it into a dignified cough that reminds the boy of your presence.
"Say, who are you, ne-san? I don't think I've seen you before!". It's entirely possible you're the only person in Konoha who Naruto hasn't pranked, yelled at, or otherwise inconvenienced. Your paths have simply never crossed. There are many people who would call this good luck.
You're careful not to say anything too incriminating: you know what your own genin are like, and this Uzumaki boy already seems just as troublesome in the way that children tend to be. "An old friend of your sensei - we went to the academy together, actually."
"HUH?!", he yells, arms flying up in the air. "No way you're the same age as Kakashi-sensei! You're so young and cute and you don't even have grey hair like Kakashi-sensei, I say! How-"
Kakashi claps a hand over Naruto's mouth, making a valiant effort to ignore the boy's muffled noises of indignation. "We should get going now so Sakura and Sasuke aren't waiting. That cat could be halfway to the Land of Fire border by now!" Naruto stops squirming just long enough for Kakashi to release him, and he starts to race off in the direction from which he came - then spins on his heel, splutters on the dust cloud he kicks up, and sprints back to you.
"Sorry, ne-san, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Naruto Uzumaki!", he chirps, sticking out a palm. You see Kakashi smile out the corner of your eye.
You can't help but smile too as you shake his hand. How could anyone ever be cruel to this boy? He's so infectiously energetic, and he definitely gets bonus points for calling you cute. "Naruto Uzumaki, huh? I'll be sure to remember that name."
He looks so delighted you nearly melt. Kakashi waves at you before they both disappear in the direction of the village; you smile all the way back to your apartment.
Konoha in the evening may be your favourite thing in the world. The sun is just setting when you leave your apartment, lighting the Hokage monument up gold and casting the streets of the village in a warm orange light. You're sore off your training session but a hot shower has done wonders to take the sting out of the pain, leaving you with the kind of ache reminiscent of a hard day's work. After your shower, you had opted to dress in simple civilian clothes: a light sweater and loose trousers, with your favourite pair of sandals. It's been a while since you've had a whole evening to yourself.
The street lights begin to come on as you walk to the market square, restaurants and bars switching on their neon signs, and porch lights flick on outside homes. You catch sight of a mother cuffing her academy-age son around the ear, scolding him for not being home in time for dinner. If your genin have any sense, they'll have already eaten and will be preparing for bed right now. They're going to be focusing on chakra control tomorrow - on the water, far away from anything they can set on fire - and you've got no intentions of letting them leave until they can at least cross the river.
Thankfully, there's an empty seat at your favourite ramen stand, despite how busy the marketplace is. The chef knows your order without even asking, and you're left with a few minutes to take in the atmosphere while he prepares it. Once the shops shut for the day, street food vendors move in with their carts, and the square fills with academy students and jonin and civilians alike. You spy the old man who runs the grocery store, the blacksmith's apprentice who makes the best kunai, and an old classmate's new wife looking incredibly pregnant. You'll have to drop by and offer them your congratulations soon, you note - it seems like only yesterday you were dragging Kurenai onto the dance floor at their wedding.
The ramen is good, as always, and you slurp it down noisily, as always. You're halfway through a mouthful of boiled egg when you get the feeling you're being watched. Your first instinct is to look over at the old woman next to you, apologise for eating too loudly - but she's unbothered, her nose buried in a gardening book. Huh. You suppose it could have just been someone in the market recognising you. The prickling on the back of your neck disappears just as fast as it came, so you go back to your meal.
When the time comes to pay, you find yourself having to dig around in your coin purse for an embarrassingly long time. "Sorry...", you laugh, finally fishing out enough money to put down on the counter. "I guess it's time I take my team on another mission, right?". The chef smiles wordlessly and hands you a tub containing a few dango sticks; he's never been much for chat, but you've always tried anyway and it seems he enjoys it more than he's let on.
That sensation strikes you again when you duck out of the stand, and you know that someone is trying very hard to keep their eyes on you through the crowd. There's a kunai under your sweater, but you don't reach for it just yet. It could very well just be a civilian who has had a few too many drinks and doesn't realise how much he's staring, you reason. You just hope whoever it is doesn't follow you. God... You just want to eat your snack in peace.
Of course they follow you. Of course they do, because Kami forbid you just want one quiet fucking evening. They follow you through six wrong turns, two instances of doubling back on yourself, and even a shortcut through a hedgerow. You finally give up and cast out your chakra in the middle of a small park. Whoever it is obviously hasn't really thought this through, because three distinct chakra signatures slam you in the face without any effort at all. There's one that simmers as if on edge, one bright and bubbly, and-
"Naruto?", you say aloud, turning to see a tuft of yellow hair poking out over a flower bush. A small hand tugs him down and you hear a yelp. Satisfied that whatever's going on here is no threat to you, you shove another dango ball into your mouth. "Get out from behind there, come on."
He pops up, flushed bright red and stammering out excuses. "What a coincidence seeing you here, ne-san! I was just-"
"All of you.", you insist. Naruto's eyes widen comically and his mouth drops open. There's a shuffling from behind the bush, and then a pink-haired girl emerges, managing to look quite dignified if not a little sheepish. She grabs Naruto under the arm and hauls him towards you - then the last one appears, the Uchiha boy, walking five steps behind and clearly trying very hard to look like he has nothing to do with them.
You just stare at them as you chew for a moment, relishing in how each of them blushes slightly. "So, Naruto - did you ever catch that cat?"
His eyes light up at the opportunity to change the subject. "Not yet! Kakashi-sensei told us we had to keep looking until midnight, but he fell asleep, so we snuck away to-"
The pink-haired girl elbows him in the ribcage. "We were just coming to get some food to take back and share with Kakashi-sensei.", she finishes, smiling sweetly at you. "Naruto said he recognised you and wanted to say hello!"
"Well, that explains why you were hiding.", you reply. Her eyebrow twitches but she does an impressive job of maintaining her smile. Naruto, on the other hand, dissolves back into frantic excuses.
"I wanted to... to try and scare you, I say-"
"This must be your team, Naruto." You pat him on the shoulder to console him. It's funny teasing these kids, but you're worried he might spontaneously combust in a moment, and you're not really annoyed beyond the distraction from your dessert. "Why don't you introduce us?"
"This is (name)-san!", he half-yells. Naruto then jabs a finger at the Uchiha, who is still staring very hard at the ground. "That's Sasuke! He's in a bad mood because I was faster than him today." You think Sasuke may burn holes into the earth with his eyes.
"And I'm Sakura Haruno!", the girl says. You're starting to recall her more the longer you look at her.
"Sakura... I remember seeing you at the chuunin exams." Your own team had been disqualified in the second round, but you'd still taken them to watch the individual battles. Sakura's smile drops into an expression of disappointment. "I thought you were very brave."
She preens under the compliment. Naruto, in a fashion which you've already come to predict, starts jumping around and demanding to know why you didn't think he was brave. Sakura smacks him once again - you're really starting to like her. "Just face it, Naruto! I'm braver than you, even a jonin thinks so!"
"A jonin? She doesn't look like one...", Sasuke finally speaks up, dark eyes taking in your outfit and snack with a hint of disdain. Back in your genin days, you had an Uchiha teammate, Ichiro. Sasuke has definitely inherited the clan's talent for withering looks; if you were a different woman, you might have been embarrassed. As it is, you brush the crumbs off the front of your sweater and laugh. Sakura looks as though she might pass out.
"Haaahhhh! Don't be so blunt, Sasuke-kun!"
Well, she definitely has a crush on him.
Sasuke huffs, and looks you hard in the eye for a moment. "Whatever. I really don't get what all the fuss is about. I'm going home." He vaults up onto the rooftops with a speed surprising for his age, and vanishes into the twilight. Oh, he's an Uchiha, alright.
"You've been making a fuss over me, have you?", you turn back to Naruto, cocking an inquisitive eyebrow. "Surely your sensei won't have been pleased you weren't paying attention to training."
Naruto sniffs. "He's a silly old man who doesn't pay attention himself! He just sat under a tree with his eyes closed for most of it."
Sakura is suddenly inching closer to you, all sweetness and innocence. "Naruto says that you and Kakashi-sensei searched for Tsunade-sama's cat earlier this afternoon, (name)-san..."
You quickly pray that this girl never decides to go into the interrogation unit. It's crystal clear what game she's trying to play. But those seven years in ANBU have left you with, at the very least, a great poker face. You nod and allow her to continue. Naruto leans in conspiratorially as she probes. "He's never told us much about his life. Aaaaand we've never seen him around a woman before... Are you guys maybe-"
Kakashi claps a hand down onto each of their heads and they scream. Sakura goes pink enough to match her hair, and Naruto wraps his hands around Kakashi's wrist, swinging wildly under his grip. He must have shunshined here because even you get a bit of a shock, reflexively starting to reach for your kunai, but you're quickly doubled over with laughter instead. Kakashi catches your eye; you can see him smiling at you through his mask before he spins his students to face him.
"Hello there, Sakura, Naruto.", he says, smile gone and voice expressionless. "I'm very sorry for napping all the way until midnight."
"You didn't-"
Sakura kicks Naruto in the shin. "We're sorry, Kakashi-sensei. We couldn't find the cat and it was Naruto's idea to go home."
Naruto kicks her back. "No, it was Sasuke!"
Kakashi pretends to look around, humming to himself. "Well, that makes sense, since Sasuke is the only one who seems to actually be at home. Can't you see that (name)-san is just trying to have a peaceful evening?"
They both have the good manners to look bashfully at their feet, although you doubt they're really ashamed. You catch Kakashi's eye over their heads and mouth, come on, they're just kids.
He rolls his eye and releases his grip on their heads. Kakashi has a reputation amongst the jonin instructors for being a hardass with his students, but you can see how much he cares for them too, and you try to never judge a sensei's relationship with their team. He seems to have wrangled them pretty well considering how strong each of their personalities are. "Go home and get some sleep. We can start an hour earlier tomorrow because of tonight's antics.", he instructs, smiling at them brightly for the first time.
They both groan, say a quick goodbye to you, and then walk away griping at each other. Kakashi sighs. "I hope they didn't give you too much trouble."
"Not at all. I actually think they're pretty funny.", you admit. This is more excitement than you'd planned for your evening, but it's nice to see kids being kids (and a pleasant surprise to see Kakashi again, if you're honest). "Especially that crush of Sakura's."
You've both started walking in the direction of the residential sector, feet falling in tandem. "Maa, it's been more troublesome than funny. She's struggled to keep her feelings separate from her performance in the past."
"Oh, don't be such a cynic, Kakashi! Don't you remember what it was like to be young and in love?", you tease, waving a finger at him. His breath hitches a little bit, you think. "She'll be oblivious to everything else until she's twenty. Has she even realised how much Naruto likes her?"
Kakashi chuckles. "Not yet. Although, I think she has some competition in you."
"Me?", you exclaim, nearly choking on air. "I don't think so. He's met me once and I was literally a mess."
"Teenage minds.", he shrugs. You've reached the point where the path branches off, one street leading to your apartment block and the opposite to Kakashi's - but he doesn't head off just yet, instead choosing to tip his head up and watch the last rays of light warm the top of the Hokage monument. You join him, a strange feeling twisting in your gut when you see that they've started to put up the scaffolding for Tsunade-sama's carving. The street is empty, just you and him and the setting sun.
"Can you blame him?", you ask softly, when the comfortable silence has stretched out for a few long moments. Kakashi tilts his head at you, seemingly coming back to reality. Your mouth starts to curl up into a smirk. "For having a crush on me?"
This time, he blushes fast and hard, all the way up to the tips of his ears. You raise your eyebrows expectantly and cross your arms. Kakashi doesn't say anything, but a tiny wheeze escapes his lips, and his fingers furl and unfurl several times.
You don't let him flounder for too long - this is an objectively nice moment, and you don't want to ruin it by risking him passing out and hitting his head. "Kami, Kakashi, I'm only joking! You've already called me old today, so you can't possibly say anything worse."
Kakashi laughs, a proper one and not his normal quiet chuckle, in a way that has warmth spreading on your cheeks too. You must hold his gaze for just a second too long, because he's quickly turning back to the monument. "Thank you for helping me out with that cat story."
"That's okay. But I have to ask - are you just late to mess with your students?"
"...Sometimes.", he concedes. "But sometimes I'm late for more important reasons."
"Like spending time with an old friend?", you suggest, voice lilting back into light-heartedness. You want so badly to poke him, but hold yourself back on the grounds that you are not Sakura Haruno with her teenage crush.
"I was thinking something more along the lines of encountering a particularly friendly dog."
You gasp and clutch your hands to your heart. Kakashi turns to you again, eye twinkling under the streetlamps. "Well, that does it! I'm going home. And don't bother using me as an excuse next time you oversleep!"
The sound of his laughter follows you up onto the rooftop - a shorter route home, now that the tiredness of the day is really hitting you. He remains stood in the middle of the empty street, watching you closely, and he's obviously smiling so you feel too bad to rush off without a goodbye. "Goodnight, old man!", you call down.
Kakashi raises one hand in a wave, and you feel his eye on you until you're out of sight, his chakra warm and golden like the sun.

Humor me for a moment here...
It’s been 9 years and I still believe they should’ve kept Obito alive.
If they can pardon both Orochimaru for his human experimentation, Kabuto for his war crimes, and Sasuke for being a dumbass, they can think of an excuse to make Obito a functioning individual of society and have him face the fact he was the cause of most world-altering events in the span of the entire series. I think killing him is a coward’s way out, and he didn’t deserve the peaceful ending he got.
And Instead of Boruto, we could’ve gotten a series focused on Kakashi in his Hokage era. The man is as popular as Naruto and Sasuke, and I’m tired of anime shows that base sequels on the “new generation.” It’s been done too many times. I believe Kakashi is beloved enough by the fans that this idea would be profitable like the original.
Plus, Kakashi has had enough trauma to make a script three seasons long. You can cover stories about losing people, dealing with grief, depression, PTSD, clan politics (what’s it like to be the only person left in a clan that isn’t the Uchiha or what were the consequences of owning a sharingan as a non-Uchiha), being a former child soldier, being a burnt out child prodigy, etc. instead of being relegated as a Hokage that blew up the moon once.
Listen. Imagine a series where Kakashi finally spoke with a Yamanaka therapist since his emotional crutch wasn’t the ideal hero that he thought. Imagine a series where the big bad villain acknowledges the pain he left in the world and actively tries to do his best every day in a place where everyone wants him dead. And imagine Mr. Worldwide, creator of 1000 Years of Death, Kakashi Hatake, trolls the world with Obito “Tobi” Uchiha.
Imagine the shenanigans! We can finally see what these two can do as a pair after it was hyped up in the Kakashi Gaiden arc but fell flat in the 4th Shinobi arc. If these two can frustrate people in their immediate vicinity as individuals, picture them working together and in a position of power. It would be glorious!
Click Keep Reading for extra filling:
***
Address Neji’s death by having Gai be nice to everyone, except for Obito. Obito understands his anger and, due to guilt, stupidly comes up with an “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” approach by being his sparring partner i.e. his punching bag.
Kakashi is Stressed™ managing his two best friends. This will also test Gai’s capacity for forgiveness (and finally have a storyline about him that isn’t about youth, challenges, and taijutsu). Meanwhile, we can also have a role reversal where Kakashi is the one helping Gai out of unhealthy coping mechanisms and grief.
***
To calm down people who see Obito as a threat, they seal most of his chakra so that he can perform basic techniques, enough to complete unpaid B to S rank missions as part of his “community service.” His Sharingan, both of them, will be inaccessible so he can no longer perform hacks. In secret, only Kakashi, Naruto, and Sakura, AKA the heroes who ended the war, are trusted enough to be able to unseal it (they can have matching tattoos for this, other characters think it’s just an OG Team 7 thing but it’s a key lol). So if a major threat like, say, the Otsusuki comes, and Naruto and Sasuke needs an extra boost to turn the tides in their favor, there will be an epic scene of Team 7 (minus Sasuke) unsealing Obito’s chakra, and his eyes slowly bleed into red and spins into Mangekyou. He charges into the battlefield with Susanoo in Mokuton armor.
(Bonus scenes of Kakashi partially unsealing his chakra so that Obito can use Kamui to buy the Hokage precious “reading material” from other nations. Obito loudly complains about his chosen book topic.
Sakura asks Obito to bring her medical plants from different parts of the world.
Naruto pleads with Obito to take Sasuke and him to the Kamui dimension since they are no longer allowed to spar in training fields due to excessive property damage.)
***
Naruto gets frequent Hokage training with Kakashi. Obito is there to keep him from falling asleep by constantly challenging the policies and ideals set by former Hokages.
Naruto watches Kakashi and Obito debate and then later argue topics until they end up burning the original handbook to rewrite their own.
(Naruto is surprisingly good at editing and quickly finding loopholes in writing. Later, they visit the memorial stone to pray for Jiraiya.)
***
Part of Obito’s new job description is to be the Hokage’s 24/7 bodyguard (if he’s not out doing missions). It’s partly because the Anbu commander who usually handles the ninja president’s security is tired of Kakashi’s antics, and partly because the people are more comfortable if one of the war heroes is beside the Major Threat™ all the time. Obito has to constantly juggle between keeping them away from both his and Kakashi’s enemies and making sure the Hokage isn’t late to any meetings. Somehow, the latter is harder than the former.
Obito wonders how an ex-terrorist became a glorified secretary.
***
Obito and Yamato acknowledge their history in the 4th shinobi war. Surprisingly, Yamato forgives but doesn’t forget.
They compare notes on their solution and regularly train in the Forest of Death. The forest became five times larger and deadlier. The chuunin exams became harder.
***
Kakashi tries to diplomatically pass anti-violence, and pro-mental health laws, and raise funds for the orphanage and veterans. Meanwhile, Obito uses his talent in gaslighting and gatekeeping to out-manipulate the elders into losing debates.
It would be satisfying to see Danzo’s best friends disappointed and angry while Kakashi does his eye smile thingy. Behind him is Obito sticking his tongue out because he secretly never grew up.
(I can’t believe the elders are still alive in Boruto, like wtf.)
***
Remember the time Obama hired an Anger translator? That, but it’s them.
***
Sukea and an “unknown” anbu that suspiciously looks like Tobi messes with the kids wanting to know what’s behind Kakashi’s mask. Sukea creates the intrigue to unite the kids into a single goal and trick them into practicing teamwork. Not-Tobi does the subtle sabotage.
***
If the children ask Obito his backstory, he replies with, “That’s classified.”
If they ask Kakashi, he keeps telling them different ridiculous stories until Obito becomes some kind of myth to the kids.
“The Hokage said he was an orphaned circus performer and he got adopted by a vigilante to save us all from a demonic tree!”
“Woah! The Hokage said he protected us from a moon alien by challenging her to a dance-off!”
***
Tobi and Sukea annoying their way into infiltration missions.
Their backstory: Sukea is a photographer and Tobi is an aspiring actor. They got lost on the road to life and whoops accidentally stumbled upon this secret base. Can we have directions to the nearest artist convention, please? And that dead body was already there before we got here, what do you mean?

Adults are afraid of Obito. Teenagers think he’s lame for being a nerd that knows too much history. Grandmas still like him. Kakashi still makes fun of him for being a crybaby. Naruto makes fun of them both for being old. Sakura makes fun of Kakashi, Obito, and Naruto for being weirdos. Ino makes fun of Sakura for being teammates with the weirdos.
***
They visit Rin’s grave yearly. Kakashi keeps thanking her for slapping Obito back to life.
***
The Hokage gets invited by the academy to discuss the origins of Konoha. Obito keeps correcting him like, no, that’s propaganda bullshit, this is what happened.
He made twenty-eight kids and their instructor cry.
(He had also discussed in length how Madara Uchiha can't pee when strangers are near him. That he's still bitter about not being a better stone skipper than Hashirama "God of Shinobi" Senju. That he had an annoying habit to ramble and then laugh like a loon. And he has a face on his boob. Kids, when a centenarian ancestor offers you to help fix the world, say no.)
***
It has been apparent to all paper desk ninjas that to expedite their documents to be stamped and signed by the Hokage, it needs to go through their bodyguard so the bodyguard can bully the Hokage into prioritizing their paperwork.
In retaliation, Kakashi uses his knowledge of Obito’s history with handling Akatsuki and Kiri’s financials*, then points out major flaws in Konoha’s fund allocation, making Obito frustrated enough to audit everything for him. Despite being a mastermind manipulator, he falls for it all the time.
Tsunade visits the office and could not believe the lack of paper towers. Kakashi takes all the credit. Tsunade is impressed. “Damn, kid, I should have made you Hokage years ago!”
*Flashback: Back in his time as a villain, Obito had to audit Akatsuki’s expenses because Kakuzu is known to allocate part of their funds to his account. As for Kiri, Obito was puppeteering the Mizukage and to be convincing, it means doing the Mizukage's job. Realizing the role was a drag, Obito’s dream of becoming Hokage was buried in piles of paperwork and died six feet under.
***
Obito is still helpless when it comes to old people in need.
But at least now he can force Kakashi to help.
***
After discussing in length about Sasuke’s trauma from the Uchiha massacre, and Obito’s trauma as the black sheep of the family, they start working on rebuilding the clan’s name.
They’ve also found a rule in Konoha that once a clan has more than one person, a clan head should be identified.
No one wants to be the new clan head. It’s too much mind-numbing work even if the population of the clan is just two so they started arguing. Obito argues Sasuke is the son of the former clan head, and Sasuke argues that Obito is older than him, and has experience with “handling foreign affairs” (if you can even call it that).
This doesn’t get resolved until Sasuke marries a poor soul who gets voted by them to become the new clan head. Sasuke ends up in multiple divorces.
***
Kakashi starts using his father’s tanto again. He stops being the Copy Nin and starts being the new White Fang of Konoha.
***
On the anniversary of Sakumo's death, Obito uses his monologuing skills to aggressively defend Sakumo's last mission. Backed up by Team 7 with Yamato and Sai, they are fighting for Sakumo's grave to be transferred to the resting place of the heroes as he deserved.
Kakashi covers Obito's mouth once he starts insulting the council and elders. "Will of fire, my ass! You preach about teamwork and nakama, but easily sacrifice one of your own for the sake of a mission. You're all hypoc-!"
Naruto pitches in. "Those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum, dattebayo!"
Needless to say, they are finally realizing that, oh god, there are two Narutos now and they will never know peace until this gets resolved.
***
The series ends once Naruto becomes the Hokage. Handing over the hat went off without a hitch…
Except for Kakashi being two hours late. Kakashi and Obito were busy retelling Naruto’s life to Kushina’s grave.

"Did he smile at them" lmao Raido clearly acting like this isn't the first time something similar happened
Honestly I have so much fun with SQ2 because they all do outrageous shit but in specific flavours and it's so fun picking who would freak out over what!!!
Like Kakashi, in his ANBU era before he gets even more publically erratic, is extremely unfazed by anyone's outrageous behavior because 1) he does not care or know where the social line in the sand is and 2) he's not intervening even when it's specifically his circus, his monkeys... And when it comes to doing outrageous shit, Kakashi's rule is that if he can, then he fucking will, and the gods themselves cannot fucking stop him 😂 for example, this man will flaunt porn in public on purpose and theft is only theft if he is the victim
With Shisui, he is painfully aware of social convention (the Elders are BREATHING down his neck, he can already feel Mikoto's eyes burning his skull) BUT it's all about context. Can he get away with it? Yes? FULL STEAM AHEAD. Are there witnesses? Yes? Will Genjutsu fix it? No? FUCK, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES (bursts into flames from the mortifying ordeal of being known and unable to lie). For example, Shisui gaslighting everyone in earshot? A normal Monday. Genma makes a dirty joke at his expense? JAIL, JAIL, WE ARE ALL GOING TO HELL AND SHISUI IS GONNA TAKE THEM THERE 🔥🤡🔥
Tenzo is arguably the funniest because my boy straight up is not in the know 😂 Tenzo will say the most bland shit and it will hit the feels.... Tenzo will also say the most fucked up thing in your entire life and it will be an attempt at humor and you've got to just keep living your life. No, being in the Squad isn't helping. Kakashi is just as bad, if intentional, and Genma is enabling him, Raidou doesn't have the energy to fight a losing battle and Shisui isn't being paid enough to therapy dog the whole group. This is just an incredible wildcard.
Genma....! When he's yelling at the others, it's not because he wants them to stop. It's because HE is supposed to be the hysterical influence and he gets jealous when they upstage him. Shisui batting his eyelashes and getting the spa treatment as a hostage is just too much to bear, Genma tried to give a target a lapdance once and all he got was ten bucks and the desire to shower ASAP 😂😭🤡 he is so so proud of the chaos (he knows EXACTLY what he's doing) but he is also absolutely plotting how to one up the others on the outrageous scale
Raidou.... Oh I saved him for last, Anon, because not only is he the one you were actually commenting on but Raidou's reaction is always my fav. You THINK, looking at the group, that Raidou is the resident normal one. You might have thought that with drinking (nope, Raidou's drunken antics are firmly about 'Me Time' and he's valid, he is NOT designated driving). Or maybe paperwork (Tenzo and Shisui do the paperwork, actually, because Raidou's tends to get ruined by Genma/Kakashi or his own pyrotechnics/ink). Or maybe just being socially conscious individuals.... No. Raidou might be the most normal one because he has a stable home life, civilian parents who are both alive and who love and support him, and he sees the 'other side' of living in Konoha... But he also was the only one to be look at the options in life and PICK being a Shinobi. Like HELLO that's a bit INTERESTING. Raidou is So Done (I'm sorry but *looks at the rest of the SQ* YOUR HOME LIFE WAS WHAT) but simultaneously So On Board (you wanna tattoo your eyelids with fuinjutsu? Say less, bestie) for the bullshit like yes this is deffo the normal Shinobi way to behave, Genma of COURSE Shisui flirted with his captors now please help me steal the bedframe it's solid wood and the slats keep popping out of my bunk at home 👏👏 Raidou won't condone being an asshole to service staff but he's more than willing to calmly go back to his book when someone is plotting a murder at the next table.... It's just not his business 💅
This got out of hand, sorry Anon BUT yeah Raidou would classify Shisui's puppy eyes as both a cringe-fail tactic BUT an effective means of manipulation... So long as he doesn't have to watch the car wreck 😂

Cruel world
Kakashi Hatake x gn!reader
Summary: Everyone is born with two names engraved onto their legs. One name representing their soulmate and one name for the person who will kill them.
Obito Uchiha and Kakashi Hatake were written unto (Y/N)`s leg. It was impossible for them to know who would love and who would murder them. But after Obito died they thought they had lost their soulmate and were destined to be alone. Will that inevitably result in Kakashi and (Y/N) staying apart forever?
Words: 8.1k
Warnings: major character death, angst, no happy ending, blood, injuries, depression, suvivors guilt, war (it`s really not as horrible as it sounds. There is fluff and love in it. I swear)
Soulmates were supposed to be the best thing. The sparkling light at the end of a dark tunnel. They were supposed to bring you the most happiness. But where ever happiness is, follows a curse. (Y/N) was haunted by their curse their whole life. On everyone's leg were two names engraved. One representing the person who will bring you everything you ever wanted and one who will rip everything apart. One name is for love and one for death. She met both of the people the names belonged to at a young age.
Kakashi Hatake at the age of 5, shortly after his father died. They were playing along the riverside when they saw a boy bruised and panting. How could they have known the consequences this encounter would have? Some call it fate. It linked all the human lives together to send them their biggest support and greatest downfall. The boy seemed to be the same age as them but his eyes were a lot harder. They could see the tragedy radiating off the boy and it was their time to help. Carefully they approached the boy with silver hair. "Hey, what are you doing here?" Their voice was small and shy but their eyes met his straight on. Never backing away from the challenge. "Can`t you see that I am training?" He snapped, turning his back to them and returning to train his combat. Ignoring the lifeline the universe was sending. "That`s so cool. Can I play too?" He whisked around, hatred in his eyes masking the hurt. "I`m not playing and I don`t need weak children dragging me down." His nostrils flared and his stance got wider. "But it would help you too if you had a partner, right?" The boy's eyes widen, relaxing his stance and eyeing the person in front of him suspiciously. "Can you fight?" "No, but you can teach me." A smile stretched over their face, while a sigh left the other one. "Fine, take a fighting stance." He already took a few steps back from them, to gain a decent distance for fighting them properly, before he got interrupted once again. "Wait, I don`t even know your name." "Kakashi Hatake."
Through the following months (Y/N) was ecstatic that they found one of the names on their leg so early in their life. It was rare to know the person who would inevitably have a huge impact on their life. Call it naive or foolish but they thought they could change fate. Either they would have a long time with their soulmate or they could convince Kakashi to not kill them. Kakashi was also the reason for their successful admission to the academy. Were they would meet the second name tattooed onto their leg.
Obito Uchiha.
A foolish boy, quite the opposite of Kakashi. But could never hurt one of his friends. The first time they laid eyes on him, they saw him arguing with no one else but Kakashi himself. Kakashi standing in front of him with bored eyes and a witty comment on his tongue with his arms folded in front of him, while the brown-haired boy opposite of was him fuming with rage. Throwing insults at the other to wipe the smug look off of his face. "Kakashi, did you already make a friend?" A smile on their lips, incapable of imaging the tragedy that would strike their whole little world. "Hardly" He scoffed in reply, turning around, trying to walk away. "Don`t you want to introduce us?" Their eyes were sparkling with positivity. "I can speak for myself! I am Obito Uchiha and I am gonna be the best ninja one day!" Their eyes went wide at the words of the other boy. They had found both of their names. It could be a possibility to change their future and let them survive. But uneasiness followed. They stood beside their true love and their killer. How should they know who would be who? Staying away wasn`t an option. Losing time with your soulmate, because they were scared, was cowardness. But knowing the one who would take your life, intimately seemed cruel. "(Y/N) (L/N). Nice to meet you!" But no other choice could be made. It was their cruel destiny to know and love them.
Years passed and while they saw them grow up together the possibility of one of them hurting them vanished in their head. How could Kakashi ever hurt them when he brought them homemade food after they came back from a long mission? Why should Obito kill them when he was always lifting them up after hard training? How could Kakashi be their soulmate when everything he was interested in was being the best ninja possible? How could Obito ever see them if his eyes were so focused on Rin? How should they know who was their soulmate when both of them felt more like home than anyone ever did before?
But their paradise shattered when the third shinobi world war started and everyone was sent to the front lines to fight. It was brutal. Corpses were laying everywhere and no family was being spared from losing someone dear to them. It was a massacre. Team Minato became, during this difficult time, the mission to destroy the Kanabi Bridge, which would cut a vital pathway for the supply of Iwagakure and would give Konoha an important advantage. But carrying out this important task came with problems and with the inevitable death of Obito Uchiha, what (Y/N) learned through Minato Namikaze.
They had officially lost their soulmate. They were never given a chance to fall in love and built a life together because they were taken from them at such a young age. (Y/N) always believed it was a blessing to know the people written on their legs from such a young age but now they wished they would have never known him. Because knowing what can never be but they so desperately want is a greater pain than never knowing them at all.
The war ended but never did their pain. They kept their distance from Kakashi not knowing how they should react to the boy who will murder them when he had just lost a teammate and a friend he tried to save desperately. A tragedy accompanied by a promise which couldn't be kept and an eye that would always remind him of his failure.
Kakashi was blinded by his pain and the guilt to have survived when he couldn`t save anyone else. Shutting him off and isolating himself for a punishment he didn`t deserve. (Y/N) knew he was hurting himself more than he needed to, trying to destroy himself to get a reason to leave this world behind and drown in everything he ever did wrong. They couldn`t look him in the eye and not see the boy who trained with them, hold them when they killed their first shinobi or celebrated with them their first successful mission. There was no hatred towards the boy who understood the pain of losing your friends. How could they hate him when all he did was be there? He was not guilty of killing them yet. His whole world was falling apart, which means it was their responsibility to help him build it up again.
One morning they stood in front of his house. Nervous but with the best smile they could muster and knocked. (Y/N) couldn`t hear anything. No footsteps tapping on the floor or doors opening and closing. It was silent until the front door abruptly opened and gray hair popped up in front of them. "What are you doing here?" His raspy voice sounded bored. Troubled they were in front of him unannounced. "We are going to eat some ramen." (Y/N) stated bluntly, gripping Kakashi's arm and tugging him outside. "No, I don`t have time for this." "Yes, you do! I haven`t seen you in ages." The copy ninja pressed his feet into the ground and stopped walking. Forcing them to turn around. "Stop babying me! I don`t need this!" "Then stop pushing everybody away!“ They screamed, saliva flying out of their mouth, falling to the ground with a sound they couldn`t hear. Similar to the way Kakashi would drop to the floor without anybody hearing. „Why do you care?“ Kakashi spat back. „Because I care about you and I need you!" Shouted (Y/N) „You`re not the only one who lost someone. I need a friend as much as you do. So stop arguing.“ They sounded defeated. Ready to turn around and never look Kakashi in the eyes again but they didn`t turn. Just stared straight at his dark eyes. Never afraid of the gate to his hell. He nodded, trodding along to his salvation. The seasons changed and new years came around. Konohas politics shifted. Some things for the better and some for the worst but certain traditions do not. (Y/N) just came back from a long mission, exhausted and half starving after they had protein bars for days. But as all the times before, Kakashi never failed to prepare a proper meal for them. He invited them back to his house and started chopping some vegetables.
"How was the mission?" Kakashi asked curious, his eyes never leaving the cutting board. He was wearing the apron Gai got him for one of his birthdays. On it were different dog breeds, dressed in woolen jumpers and scarves. At the belly, it had a big turquoise pocket Gai thought was efficient. "It was okay. Not much going on but if some of my teammates could work a bit faster I would have been here days ago." They groaned, putting their head on the table. Kakashi chuckled while he put all the ingredients in a pot. "As long as your back safe." They couldn`t see it through his mask but he smiled. His eyes crinkled close and even though he had done that a million times. Cooked for them a million times and turned around with the exact smile. It felt different. Warmer. As if the sun was ready to come out after a long and cold winter to chase away the frost biting at their skin. They have felt it for a while but ignored it till the sun got hotter. Their souls may not have aligned when they were children but they were meant to be perfect for each other. They were created to fit together like the last pieces of a puzzle finally finding its place. They were everything they ever needed. "I always come back safe." They smiled nervously. Not seeing Kakashi as what he should be for them but the opposite. Pushing their true feelings aside to not forget what will inevitably happen.
(Y/N) build walls so high that nobody could ever climb them. Holding them up so the gray heard ninja never had a chance to come closer. If he would, they knew their heart would not stand a chance. Killed by their lover what a tragedy. A burden they could not put on him. A burden they didn`t want. They were destined to be alone in this life. But Kakashi still got the chance at the happy ending he desperately craved. He never talked about his soulmate. Letting everyone believe he didn`t have one but how could a man like Kakashi not get their one true love? (Y/N) knew for years what was best for both of them. They should live without each other but how could they have left their best friend alone in a time of crisis? It was too cruel. But it seemed he didn`t need them anymore. (Y/N) could distance themselves slowly. He would not realize. He would not miss them. So they did it. They didn`t ignore him but kept their distance. They were around but never too close. (Y/N) would become a shadow in his life. Making space for the next person. For his soulmate. After missions they would decline his invitation for a meal, stating they were too exhausted. They were still present but never there. It was a loneliness (Y/N) couldn`t cope with and empiness they didn`t expect. No one missed the one who would kill them. Beside (Y/N). He was their air and they were drowning. Yappsing and flapping trying to reach the surface only to never do. They had to admit that Kakashi was more to them for all these years.
Unknown to them Kakashi felt the same. He worried about them, not understanding why they would push him away. He couldn`t handle losing another person. He needed to speak to them. So he waited in front of their home. Knocking on their door to get them to acknowledge him and they did. Perplexed they opened the door, furrowing their brows and keeping their mouth in a straight line.
"Kakashi, what are you doing here? Is everything okay?" "Why are you avoiding me?" "Wha... What are you talking about? I`m not avoiding you." Their face turned to the side, avoiding eye contact while scratching their earlobe. Kakashi's eyes were slitted. "Then why did you turn down all of my invitations? For years you always came over after a mission and now you suddenly stop?" Kakashi's voice rose in volume. "Saying you are too tired? That`s bullshit and you know it. You fell asleep multiple times on my kitchen table."
(Y/N) couldn`t look him in the eye. It was too painful seeing all the hurt reflecting in them. They would have loved to close the door and hide in their apartment until Kakashi forgot about them. But as if he could read (Y/N)`s mind he took a step closer. Towering over them with a hand in the doorframe. "We can`t see each other anymore." Their voice was a whisper, hoping to be carried away by the wind so it wouldn`t be true. "What?" His eyes were wide. His voice carried surprise. "We can`t see each other anymore." (Y/N) spoke louder, looking Kakashi directly in the eyes, showing him they were serious. A chuckle came from the silver-haired man, getting louder and louder with every passing second. "You can`t be serious." "Why not?" Their scream rang through the whole street, multiple people turning around but walking past anyway. There was hesitance in Kakashi's eyes. His hand gripping the frame harder, grounding himself, to tell the truth for once. "Because we`re soulmates:" His eyes were locked onto the ground, voice just above a whisper, forcing (Y/N) to acknowledge him. "Why do you not what to be mine?" They were perplexed, their eyes flitting around his face trying to discover the lie. But looking at him being so vulnerable. They knew he was telling the truth, what made it even more heartbreaking that they could never be. "You`re going to kill me." Kakashis head shot up. "(Y/N), I could never." "I believed that too but Obito is my other name and he has been dead for years. I lost my soulmate and fell in love with my murderer. Irony, isn`t it?" Their mouth stretched wide over their face, giving them an insane look while they blinked tears away. "Either I am your soulmate as well or I was always destined to be with my pain. I couldn`t live with it. How ironic it would be to have your pain be your soulmate and be killed by it." "Pain is the second name on your leg?" (Y/N) asked curious, being answered by a nod. "Yes, but I could never love it. It was always you and it will always be you." "Kakashi, I... I." All their words were robbed from straight out of their mouth. "I could never hurt you." "Neither could I hurt you, Darling." A small smile graced both of their lips. Knowing they would always have each other, that they didn`t lose their soulmate in the past or just a few moments ago. They would be alright. (Y/N) dropped the walls in a momentum of euphoria and hope, crashing into Kakashi's broad chest, while slinging their arms around his neck. "I love you. I love you. I love you." A deep throaty laugh ripped out of Kakashi. But this time it was genuine. He finally had someone to come home to. Someone to call his own. A soulmate. "I love you too."
The sky was already dark when Kakashi came into their shared apartment, bruised and bloodied. He had been assigned mission after mission for the last few weeks. Konoha needed to look strong in front of the other villages. The armistice treaty was already negotiated and the third shinobi war officially ended. But still, the peace was fragile and barely started. It would be foolish to not station parts of the anbu at the border, ready to take out everyone threatening Konoha and the safety of the peace treaty. Kakashi tried to be quiet to not wake his partner sleeping in the next room. But the house was old, floorboards squeaking and even though Kakashi had lived in the Hatake compound his whole life he didn`t want to memorize the squeaking boards his father had died on. He shuffled forward, opening the wooden door to the master bedroom to see (Y/N) snoring away on their bed, their favorite book laying open beside them. The gray-haired ninja smiled to himself. How could he be so lucky after everything? Kakashi knew he wasn`t a good person. He hurt people he loved and people loved by someone else. But looking at them peacefully made everything he did look as if it had a purpose. He needed to make the armistice treaty a success so they could live in peace. "Kashi?" A croaky voice sounded from the bed. Small eyes looked up at him. "Yes, it`s me, darling. Go back to sleep." He rushed to their side, sitting down on the bed to brush hair out of their face. "No, I want a kiss." Their eyes were already falling close but they opened again when (Y/N) couldn`t feel their soulmate move. Kakashi giggled quietly, moving his hand toward his face to remove his mask.
Pulling it down at a slow pace, afraid to make himself more vulnerable and be judged. The moonlight shone directly onto Kakashi`s face giving (Y/N) a great view of his features. His face was soft and untouched except for the large scar running over his left eye. A small mole laying directly beside his mouth. The ninja closed his dark eyes, moving closer with his face uncovered to finally feel their soulmate's lips, but he was stopped. Gentle hands holding his face in theirs. Watching him intently, trying to memorize every possible feature.
"You`re beautiful." Their voice was a breath flitting across his face. Kakashi didn`t answer, just smiled while kissing the palm of their hand which was still laying on his face. Carefully they moved his face closer to theirs. Closing their eyes, feeling his breath on their lips before they finally connected. Every emotion poured into the kiss shared between two lovers in the comforts of their home.
The warmth was leaving the planet. The sun went down to signal it was time to put the weapons down and return to their loved ones. But even if the sun send all possible signs Kakashi`s way he ignored them. Pushing his genin Team to work more, to work harder. He couldn`t risk that they got hurt again after their last mission. It was his responsibility to keep them safe. He couldn`t fail. Not again. So he pushed them to their limits. Showed them combat technics, training their chakra control, every possible way to achieve an advantage on their opponent but it never seemed to be enough. There would always be someone smarter, more skilled. Simply better, and losing them was a possibility he didn't want to think about. But with the sun going down so did (Y/N)`s patience. They were always waiting for him at home. Preparing breakfast and supper, only for their lover to skip it and rush immediately to the training field. They could understand his pain and agony. Trying to prevent what had happened to him so many times. But Kakashi was getting paranoid. Loading his back full of responsibility he wasn`t meant to take alone. Looking out of the kitchen window to see the last rays of sunshine but no sign of their soulmate made them finally leave the house to get him. Meanwhile, Team 7 was sitting dirty and bruised on the grass, panting heavenly while listening to another lecture from their Sensei. The children could hear them from far away. "KAKASHI HATAKE!" An earsplitting scream rang over the training fields. Commanding all of them to turn around. A raging person dashes across the field right toward them. Cold sweat was breaking out of Kakashi's pores while he awaited the inevitable arrival of his partner.
"What are you still doing here? I have been waiting at home for hours! I accepted it the last few weeks but I`m done. You need some rest and your students also have a life. Everyone is going home now!" Their gaze was murderous. Kakashi didn`t dare breathe much less talk back. So he nodded, hearing a relaxing sigh from (Y/N) that made them untense their stance a bit, until Naruto spoke up. "Who is that?" His question was innocent, a curious kid asking who was screaming at their Sensei but (Y/N)`s head whipped around to Kakashi once more. Their eyes become snake-like slits. "You didn`t tell them?" Their voice was quieter than when they arrived. The fire of their entrance extinguished and replaced with a winter cold enough to freeze if you stayed in their presence too long. "I`m sorry." "They are your genin. They need to know who is teaching them." "I just don`t want to get you in danger." (Y/N)`s features softened. Looking at Kakashi with understanding and love. "I know but I can take care of myself." The silver-haired Jonin nodded, ignoring the confused stares of his students. "Do you want to introduce us?" A long sigh was heard from the man. Shifting his focus toward his new team. "This is (Y/N). My soulmate." "Your what?" Rang it from the three children simultaneously.
The world was shaking around them, ready to break down at any moment. Buildings shattering on the ground and taking hundreds of humans with them. Screams pierce the sky that should be filled with laughter and birds. All the ninjas were fighting Pain. A symbol for all they had lost and all they had taken. What an irony that Pain would be the one to kill them. When (Y/N) heard the name fall from another ninja's lips, explaining who was attacking them all the light in their eyes went out. They realized Kakashi was never meant to die of his own pain but the pain someone else suffered. They were not ready for this day, not ready to lose him, not ready to be alone again, not ready to suffer again. They went out, wanting to fight, when Katsuyu came with a message from Tsunade begging them to help out in the hospital. (Y/N) knew it would be the only thing they could do. Fate had decided on the day Kakashi was born he would die at the hands of this man. They couldn`t change fate. (Y/N) was meant to love him, not to save him. In all the books they always asked if the universe fights for souls to be together. But can someone fight the universe to be with their soulmate? The hospital was overflowing with the injured. People lay in the corridors and waiting rooms, wherever they could find space to rest and hope for treatment. Sakura was running around trying to help everyone without a pause to breathe. "Sakura, I`m here to help. What do you need me to do?" The older jonin crouched down next to the pink-haired kunoichi, expecting orders. "Next to Room B15 is a ninja badly injured but I don`t have enough chakra left to heal him. Make him survive." They nodded, running along whimpering shinobis begging for their help. They were fighting off the exhaustion after the third dozen citizens they healed. They tried to get every ninja back out to the field to help destroy Pain but it was useless. Only more people flooded in, trying to find a safe space. (Y/N) had barely healed a stab wound bleeding profusely as their heart cramped. All the oxygen got sucked out of their lungs, leaving them a heaving mess on the hospital floor. Memories of Kakashi flooded their mind while their organs were cutting each other off. They could only see silver hair and a smile so warm, they thought he had never been hurt. They could hear nothing but his deep voice promising them to never leave.
(Y/N) got brutally ripped back to reality when Sakura turned them around, examining them worried while putting their hand over the Shinobi's heart. "Breath with me. You`re okay. If you need a break you can take one. Don`t exhaust yourself too much." Her voice was a river splashing in the background. Trying to ignore it, but it would still be there in a second of silence, bringing them back to the present. (Y/N) was yapping for air, feeling all eyes on them. "Breath with m..." "He`s dead." They croaked, looking back into confused eyes. "Who`s dead, (Y/N)?" Sakura left her hands on the other ninja's arm, steadying them. "K...Kashi." Her face fell. Pain and understanding flashed across her features. Her beautiful green eyes stared at them in shock. Tears welled up in their eyes but never fell. Sakura had to keep the composure (Y/N) had already lost. She didn`t console them, didn`t tell them it would be alright. They had lost a piece of themselves, falling to the ground with all the debris outside. "Do you want to look for him?" The kunoichi asked, surprised eyes flashing up at her, followed by an enthusiastic nod. "Go. We can manage without you. Just... don`t get yourself killed." "I won`t. Thank you." (Y/N) wandered around aimlessly. Nothing was left of Konoha. Pain left nothing standing. Destroying all streets and houses. Littering the grounds with lifeless bodies without a care. It was a sunny and warm day. Children would have been playing at the park, couples making a picnic at the river, but they were laying on the dirty floor, eyes wide open but unseeing with blood running over their foreheads. "Kakashi." They breathed out, seeing him laying under rubble, ash covering his beautiful silver hair, making it look gray. He seemed so peaceful. His eyes were closed and no wrinkles covered his forehead. (Y/N) fell on their knees right beside him, not minding the sting they felt on their skin. They cupped his cheeks, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. He was asleep, trying to doze a few more minutes before he had to face the world and its troubles again. Only a moment before Kakashi would hold them again, telling them everything would be alright and he would always be by their side. But (Y/N) was the one waking up from their dream. Only to realize their soulmate was gone, leaving them behind in a cruel world to fend for themselves.
„You always called yourself a monster. Seeing the fear in your comrades eyes that was meant for you and not their enemy. But, Kashi, you were never a heartless monster destined to destroy. You died, saving the same comrades who would have let you die at the bottom of a cliff. You were never scum. Always just a hero of the leaf village.“ A small smile grazed their lips while tears ran down their cheeks and a sob broke out of their throat. "I remember when you let Team 7 pass. You came home that evening with not a scratch on your body. I just stared at you. Utterly shocked you let them pass." (Y/N) chuckled, reliving the evening when they finally realized Kakashi had found his team. "A few days later you came back home to tell me how annoying they were and asked why you did let them pass. I laughed so hard because you had never looked so stressed in years but also as proud." They paused for a few seconds. Taking deep breaths and closing their eyes, laying their forehead on his. "You should see them now. Giving everything to save the village. They are proud you were their Sensei. I can see it in their eyes." They faltered. "I was proud to be your soulmate. I hope you know that." Tears were falling onto his face, washing a bit of grim off it. (Y/N) didn`t bother to wipe them away, because they were not meant to stop. They gripped his hand, holding him for a bit longer before he inevitably would slip away from them forever. "I can`t believe I lost you." They were sitting by his side for hours. Never leaving him while Naruto fought against Pain. Their focus is on Kakashi as it always has been. Never acknowledging the people beside them. Choji came to tell Kakashi he did what he had told him. He carried out his last wish in the hope to save the leaf village. But looking around made everything they did seem useless. So many lives were lost for the pain of another man.
A rumble was shaking the earth. Everyone was expecting to finally see their end when Pain would come back to finish all of Konoha. But instead a large puppet emerged from the ground. Green light spewing out of his mouth and flying around the citizens of Konoha. It was a beautiful sight. (Y/N)`s head lifted and watched intently when the light went back to all the killed people. Resurrecting them and bringing them back to their loved ones. Their eyes flashed hopefully back to Kakashi as the light also engulfed his body. They felt a squeeze at their hand until the silver-haired ninja opened his eyes slowly. "Kakashi." The name quietly left their mouth with a sob following close behind. Their arms circled around his body and pulled him close so they could feel his beating heart again.
The land was ridden bare. No life was seen near the battlefield. The animals fled, the flowers were trampled on and the humans lay lifeless on the ground. It was a bloodbath. They attacked from different fronts, trying to separate the alliance. (Y/N) looked around panicked. A brutal attack from one of the enemies had separated them from Kakashi, leaving them alone and vulnerable. Anxiety was gnawing at their heart. They couldn't focus without knowing where their soulmate went. What if he would be the next lifeless face they saw? But then the ground shook, the shinobis still fighting, stopped trying to regain their balance. Their eyes wandered over to a huge statue made out of wood. The mouth was torn wide open. But there was no time to wonder what had just emerged from the ground. A few enemies were still standing, fighting mercilessly to stay alive. (Y/N) had to help her comrades.
After all enemies were fallen, their eyes went back to the monster still standing a few kilometers away from them. It had multiple eyes staring emotionless down at the fighting ninjas. It was a tool to fulfill their plan. Stopping at nothing and seeing the resistance of the fighters only as an obstacle. But the picture changed, the head of the statue changed. Turning in circles and shrinking as if it was absorbed. A name was breathed out of their mouth: "Kakashi." Only a single man would be capable of sucking in an entire head without coming too close. They had found him. A sigh of relief was breathed but it only lasted shortly. Kakashi`s eye power was limited, sucking his chakra greedily out of him. Horrifying images rushed into (Y/N)`s mind, where his body was halfway covered by rubble. They couldn`t relive that day. They couldn`t lose their soulmate again.
They rushed over, choosing to ignore the ache in their bones to help wherever they can. (Y/N) stumbled directly into the fight. Seeing Gai attack the man known as Tobi with his nunchakus giving Naruto a chance to come from behind Gai and surprise him with a Rasengan. The Rasegan disappeared centimeters before the attacker's body and the yellow-haired boy slides through the man that should have been hit with his attack. Confused Naruto looked back to see his attack hit the enemies shoulder time-delayed. "Kakashi, what is happening?" They called out, sprinting the last few meters toward the little group. A relieved smile crept unto his face. Hidden from prying eyes but still showing in his own way. The hardness fled out of his eyes. Bringing a little bit of warmth back when he turned around to his soulmate.
"I always thought he had two jutsus. One to suck in and one that lets him glide through but it`s just one. Part of his body that is about to get hit, changes the room-time." "But how did the injury happen when he is not in the same room-time we are in?" Naruto asked coldly, never taking his eyes off the enemy. (Y/N) had never seen him so serious before. "I think our eye-jutsus are connected. He got injured when I used Kamui so the Rasengan and the knife would disappear. At that time both of them were in the same room-time which made it possible for him to get a wound." "I have never heard that all eye-jutsus are connected," Gai stated. "Because they are not. Just ours." The silver-haired copy ninja whispered, attracting a confused glimpse from (Y/N) but before they could react, Kakashi had already asked his question: "Where did you get your eyes from?"
A low chuckle was heard from the masked man in front of them. His posture relaxed, certain of victory and just playing with his prey. "I got them from the last World War. To be specific from the battle at the Kanabi bridge. The one you afterward got celebrated for as Kakashi the copy ninja." With every word the man spoke his voice lost its humour, instead sounding more angry. Kakashi and (Y/N)`s eyes met for a split second, communicating with a glance what both of them thought. This man had stolen Obito's right eye, which was squished under a boulder. The silver-haired ninja's mouth opens once more to respond but the mysterious man cuts him off before he could make a sound. "Speak carefully, Kakashi of the Sharingan. Your words have no meaning. I first have to create a world where a hero does not have to spew excuses in front of a grave." A few drops of venom were lacing the man's voice. Attacking their soulmate with words so personal, they were meant to cut Kakashi open and let him bleed out to die. All eyes were on him. Naruto's confused eyes watched intensely as his sensei was falling apart. His eyes were blown wide open, staring down at the ground. His mouth opened and closed trying to breath air in but failing miserably. (Y/N) had seen enough of these episodes to know the invincible man would break if nobody reminded him to come back to the present. "I`m here, Kakashi. It`s okay." Their hand slowly reached for his, giving him a chance to pull away but squeezing gently after he accepted the gesture of comfort. Shadows were chasing each other in his eyes while he stood shaking and had to endure the pain once again. Hearing the scream of agony and the pleas for mercy. They grabbed his face, forcing his view upwards so he had to acknowledge (Y/N). Their back was facing the masked man. All their focus and love lay on one person, with the trust that their comrades would protect them in this vulnerable situation. Naruto stepped forward, speaking towards the man formerly known as Madara but they couldn`t hear him. The world around them, even though in an uproar, was silent for the moment. Getting Kakashi to not avoid their eyes so they could help, chase his shadows away. The sound was coming back to (Y/N) after Naruto attacked and Gai tried to encourage Kakashi to help his former student. Kakashi could sense when his protegees were in danger. He snapped back to reality immediately. His gaze shifted from Gai to Naruto in a second just to make sure he was alright. That Kakashi was not too late again. That he had not lost another person which he loved and cherished. He could not live with another tragedy. At one point it would even be too much for Kakashi of the Sharingan. The man who had lived through a thousand tragedies silently. "Let`s fight." Determination was glistening in Kakashis's eyes, brushing (Y/N) hands off of his face to step forward. Tobi was flying in the sky while Naruto jumped at him with Rasengan in hand. Steelpillars were shooting out of the air, hitting the Hachibi and Naruto. (Y/N) could imagine the smirk on the enemy's face. Having destroyed Naruto's shadow clone without anyone laying a hit on him. Kakashi had tried again to let the attack through his eyes disappear but the masked man would not fall for the same trick twice. Exhausted the jonin fell to the ground, unable to move his body anymore.
"Kakashi!" A worried scream ripped out of their throat, kneeling next to their man but they had barely time to catch their breath and get Kakashi back on his feet because Naruto straight away followed with a biju bomb putting everything he had against the enemy. The whole ball of black chakra engulfed his body but he slipped through it, simply changing his room-time. Helplessness was etched onto their face. "How can you destroy a man like him?" Their voice was barely a whisper. Tiredness spreads through their body, connected with defeat making it a dangerous combination. "Have faith, (Y/N). Naruto has a plan." A smile was stretched onto Kakashi's face. A pained and exhausted smile, but a smile meant to give hope. Kakashi was sure Naruto knew what he was doing. They nodded, believing the man that had been by their side their whole life. A startled gasp left Gai as the tailed beast bomb dissolved into nothing and the masked man stood in front of them once more. His masks had gotten cracks. It had broken, falling to the ground and shattering even more. The face they looked at seemed so familiar. Only older and more bitter. There was not a single happy memory left in his eyes. Just devastating pain. Their breath grew rigid, not noticing Kakashi next to them, who was falling apart once again. The world was shaking around them, the edges getting blurry while (Y/N) tried to stay steady. All warmth was leaving their body while their stomach was trying to not empty itself. The sight in front of them was beautiful and painful. "But you already died." (Y/N) didn`t know how these words had left their mouth when it felt incapable of forming them. The numbness was spreading through their whole body. Only left standing because of the instinct to always protect their soulmate and the man in front of them was still their enemy. Even if long ago he was their friend. "When you were alive, why didn`t you come back?" Kakashi's voice was unsteady, ready to be shattered by a breath of air. His hands were clammy and sweat was running down his face. He tried holding onto (Y/N)`s hand but it seemed to always slip away. There were two names engraved on their leg.
Obito Uchiha.
Kakashi Hatake.
One to love them and one to kill them. For years they thought (Y/N) lost their soulmate young or the universe made a mistake. How could Kakashi not be their soulmate when they fit perfectly? When not being together felt like a thousand needles being rammed into their body for them to walk on. If Obito was alive it meant their love was true. They were perfect and their whole life had not been a lie. If Obito was alive it meant (Y/N) would die. They would die soon from a man they thought was their friend, their soulmate. It meant Kakashi would be alone again and he was not ready to live another tragedy. "It didn`t matter if I was alive or not, but if you ask I will tell you: because you abandoned Rin." Every emotion left, spread across Kakashi's face. He could feel everyone's pain. His own, Obitos and (Y/N). He could feel everyone's tears. Everyone`s broken hearts. He had failed them all. "It`s hard but don`t make that face." It was not meant to give Kakashi comfort. He said it to hurt. To cut deeper and open old scars while inflicting new ones. It hurt but the silver-haired Jonin knew he could cut deeper. "Don`t you want to accuse me?" A genuine question, trying to understand. "What would be the point to blame you in such a surreal reality? The world will vanish soon. I`m no longer interested in it." A scoff was heard from beside him. Kakashi stared down at the ground while he listened to his soulmate's words. "You`re no longer interested in it? You`re not god. You`re a petty child. It`s hard to lose someone you love but it does not give you the right to punish everyone." Venom was laced into their voice. Remembering all the tears that were dripping down their face when they thought they had lost him. Every word tipped in pain and suffering because of all the fights they thought they had missed with their soulmate. Every thought coming back where they doubted Kakashi and their connection. Doubted Kakashi was meant for them because the universe does not make mistakes. "I lost my soulmate. I don`t want to punish. I want to reunite everyone who had the same fate as me." "So you break apart all the soulmates that still have a life together? A future?" (Y/N) screamed with tears flowing out of their eyes. "You`re pathetic." Huge shuriken came flying towards them, send from Obito who would not accept the doubting of his plan. The Hachibi and Naruto reacted immediately. Dodging the shurikens that were meant for Narutos sensei and his soulmate. A cold wind came up when a new man with long black hair and cracks on his face arrived next to Obito. The real Madara had come to help Obito finish his plan. Their conversation was brief but too personal for two people who shouldn`t know each other. Madara declared he would fight the jinchuuriki, whereas Obito had to fight his old comrades.
"Why are you with him?" Kakashi asked with narrowed eyes, watching him every step. "I don`t need to explain myself. I only need to fight you and win." Obito had not even finished his sentence when he attacked again with the same move. Huge shuriken were flying towards them once again. Kakashi reacted instantly doing his mudwall jutsu so the shuriken would not be able to reach them. But Obito was different. He glided through the wall without either of them noticing before he was right in front of them. He had another one in his hand. Walking calmy, almost casually, up to Kakashi who was sitting paralyzed on the ground. Kakashi was at his limit. Physically and mentally drained. All his life he tried to live up to the standards the people he had lost had set. Only to find out their principles weren`t as strong as he had thought. (Y/N) started moving as soon as Obito was behind the wall. They couldn`t watch their soulmate get hurt again or worse. Not after everything Kakashi had done for them and protected them from. They came from the side. Their kunai was hidden so it would be harder for Obito to slip through. It was a fruitless attempt. But how could they stand by and do nothing while Naruto fought to destroy Madara? They had to try, give their all and if they failed it would be okay. Obito was fixated on the silver-haired man, not hearing (Y/N)`s quiet steps. The kunai was able to scratch his arm and loosen his grip on the shuriken. But it was not enough for him to completely let go of it. They stood in front of Kakashi, shielding him, while blood trickled down Obitos sleeves. No grimaces gracing his features. He lifted the shuriken with trembling hands and pushed it into (Y/N)`s leg before letting it fall to the ground.
An agonizing scream ripped through the air before they fell to the ground with a loud thud. Angered eyes looked up while holding their bloodied leg. Kakashi was panting behind them. Scabbling to stand up and be next to them.
"Why?" His question was breathless. Not believing the nightmare he found himself in. His brain to slow and too panicked to catch up and protect what he loved most. "You should be silent, scum. With your false promises." The man spat back with a stoned face. Without a second to waste he absorbed Kakashi into his room-time but he stayed with his old friend. "I can`t believe you fell for him." Judging eyes fell on the pathetic creature below him, still trying to stop the bleeding with trembling, reddened hands. A humourous laugh left them. "Who would have been a better choice? You?" Obito shrugged, looking up at the sky. "Perhaps."
A cold wind came up, circulating next to them until Kakashi emerged out of it. Returning from the prison Obito had sent him too. "What changed you like that? Was it Rin's death?" Kakashi asked, standing protective next to (Y/N). "Shut up, scum!" Obito screamed, his eyebrows pinching together, his chest heaving. "It`s true I couldn`t keep my promise. I am scum. But you? You are a hero of the leaf village. You didn`t have to become like this." Kakashi paused, taking a deep breath and looking his friend in the eyes. "Why?" Obito laughed loudly. His eyes squeezed shut and his mouth torn open comically while a foreign sound came out of it. It sounded robotic, Not at all like the boy who had laughed at every silly joke. "Everyone who lives in this world becomes scum. We`re the best example. I will renew this world. I will make you feel the same pain as me. So you can understand."
With a swift motion, Obitos hand shot forward throwing a kunai at (Y/N). They were still on the floor. Listening half-heartedly, while trying to bind their leg as best as possible. Kakashi watched the little knife paralyzed flying towards them. Jumping and trying to catch it with his hand but missing. For the first time in years, he missed blocking a kunai. It bore into their body, piercing their heart. Their breath became rabid, eyes looking around panicked, body sacking in on itself.
"Darling." Kakashi was next to them in an instant, holding their upper body gently. "I...It`s okay. You`re gonna be okay." His breathing was uneven, his body was trembling. Their warm blood trickled out of them onto his hand, pressed onto their chest, to try and keep it inside of them. "Ka...kashi." (Y/N)`s raspy voice spoke up. "Look at me." The jonin obliged immediately. Tears fell from his eyes and soaked his mask. "It`s not your fault." They smiled. Seconds before dying they smiled, concerned he would blame himself again. "Live. Be happy. You deserve it. I was glad to be by your side." Their hand ran through his hair, down to his eyes, wiping away his tears one last time, before it fell limply next to them. "I love you. I... Thank you for staying with me." He sobbed, face burying itself in the crook of their neck. Not seeing the last tear falling out of their eye with a smile still gracing their lips. It was their destiny. Meant to be together and ripped apart by the man who should have been by their side their whole life. It was their destiny to love and to lose one another. But why did it have to be so young? Why did it have to hurt so much? Kakashi`s heart had been patched up again by the person laying dead in his arm. They were his love, his happiness, his soulmate. But everywhere were there is happiness there is a curse. Especially for a boy named Kakashi Hatake.

I need tsau minato info
☕️😀
I don’t have too many thoughts on Minato, but here’s some info 🖤
Minato was always a big dreamer. He wanted to do it all be a rock star, surfer, own a record store, tattoo artist, explorer, etc.
As a teen he made extra money giving stick and poke tattoos in the back of the school
Which did get him in trouble a few times
Track star
He scored babysat Kakashi who swore he didn’t need a babysitter (Minato agreed. But $50 is $50 kid so sit and eat your chips) because they we’re neighbors and Sakumo needed to work nights
But Minato needed a new drummer as his bands quit, and Kakashi was a quick study so it all worked out
He also feel in love with new free spirited girl at school, Kushina.
Wrote her songs and sang to her. All that sappy stuff
Used the little bit of inheritance he got to open his tattoo shop with Kushina, which did okay at first but only really took off after her did Fugaku and Mikoto’s pieces
It quickly became one of the Uchiha’s favorite stops for their tattoos and also a neighborhood favorite poor Minato was worried and grateful
Taught Kushina how to use a tattoo gun but she actually took a liking to piercing more, so he was happy watching her do her thing
Was super excited when he found out he was going to be a dad 🥹
Told Jiraiya and got a quick lecture about what did he tell him about raw doggin it, but he also congratulated the two love birds
Convinced his old band mate Kakashi to join him in the shop as his apprentice because the kid really was just good at everything and had no solid plans, so why not?
Prefers working on traditional style tattoos and bold lines
Loves his little family with all his might
a light weight when it comes to drinking
The responsible parent
Also the parent that wants those expensive family picture packages
He’s very proud that Naruto wants to take after his old man 🥲
VERY worried that Chiha will end up with a Yakuza. While there’s some he wouldn’t mind as much as others, she’s still his baby girl 😭

Is Kakashi's 's appearance permanently changed after he became a mortal? Like the birthmark over his eye remains forever. As well as any changes that came from being born with new parents. A mole that wasn't there before. Maybe some freckles on his back. Maybe his jaw line is a bit more square/ rounded. Just little things to show he was permanently changed by his time as mortal.
Of course, the scar on his chest probably is there forever... unless of course, when his godhood returns, the wound just seals itself up.
The birthmark over his eye would return to being a scar, as his eye was damaged when he was still a very young god and he ended up with a scar from it.
I do think he could end up with a scar on his chest, perhaps one similar to the cut he gets in cannon when Obito slices him with the giant shuriken? The two end up in a scuffle before Obito stabs Kakashi, and in it he ends up slicing Kakashi across the chest.
I think major changes in would go for is that he has a mole on his chin from his mortal mother, and his shoulders have freckles from being sun kissed (hard for a god who has a rainstorm over his head 24/7 to get freckles from his skin seeing too much sun XD)
Oh, but also maybe he gets a tattoo in his mortal life that stays with him forever. Like a little symbol on his shoulder that connects him to his mortal parents. That would be really cute.

What about a hc of Deidara with s/o who has similar powers like Danny Rand/Iron Fist?
Having The Same Powers As Iron Fist || Deidara x reader
A/n : I'm a real Marvel fan but I had to make some researches in the comics and the series lmao because I didn't know anything about his powers. It was really fun though :3c
THANK YOU so much for the ask ! It was a real pleasure to write 😍🔥
OUTFIT REFERENCES : You can either imagine you're wearing THIS inside the Akatsuki robe OR that you have your own type of robe like THIS
Masterlist ⚜
Warning : Mention of fight and injuries but it's soft
I don’t give permission to repost my work, if you want to share it just reblogue it
Words count : 1161
First of all for me it's logical to think that you are part of the fearsome fighters of the Akatsuki. Proudly wearing your black outfit with a red cloud pattern so recognizable everywhere you went. It's your boyfriend, the explosive artist Deidara who designated it, as it was a bit too long for you and was getting in the way when you were fighting
Even though it looked great on you, he liked it better when you took it off, revealing your yellow and green outfit, matching the color of his hair and ring. With a black tattooed dragon resting proudly on your chest, which he was trying to replicate with his clay
He sees you as a real masterpiece, his masterpiece
On the other hand you prefer to think of yourself as a Swiss Army knife and you have good reason. You have already mastered a great number of martial arts. In fact all the most important ones. Jujustu, easy, taekwondo, a piece of cake and not only that. You proudly add kung-fu, boxing, judo, karate, muay thai, savate… you have enough to say for an hour
That's the reason why you were able to join Akatsuki, they realized that your fighting skills were beyond comprehension. You were very grateful, because you were surrounded by ninja deserters, nukenin, like you and especially because you met your soul mate, the beautiful Deidara, the artist who gave back its colors to your life
At that time, however, no one suspected that your fighting abilities were not at all due to a particular power but only to your training and that you were saving your true potential for an
emergency case. Only if the fight became really out of hands
If your allies didn't know the extent of your powers, how would the enemies know ?
So for a long time your comrades only saw you fighting hand to hand with nunchakus or a stick
Deidara was amazed every time he attended your fights when you were paired together. One day you caught a kunai thrown at full speed towards your eye with only two fingers. He felt that sometimes it was almost too easy for you. It's true that with your stamina, your speed, your agility and your 5 fives multiplied like that no enemy could compete with you
That is, until the Konoha ninjas got involved
The problem is that this is the village you deserted and they, at least the older ones, already know your secret power and your level of fighting
That is to say that somersaults and baton twirling were useless against opponents like Guy Maito or Kakashi Hatake who once trained with you
Using your secret weapon was your only way to get the upper hand in the fight, as you had never used it on them for fear of hurting them. However times had changed and now you were part of the Akatsuki
For the first time you revealed to your fellow Akatsuki your true power as you clenched your
fist to concentrate your chakra - or chi as you liked to call it - lighting it up before punching the ground. This created a mini earthquake, as the shockwave blew your enemies backwards, giving you time to recover
The fight had ended very badly. Deidara had lost his arms and he was waiting for the enemies to leave to recover them. But in the meantime he was suffering the martyrdom. So you hid behind a tree and put your shining hand on the place where his arm should be and eased his pain. To his surprise he relaxed immediately and gave you a loving and affectionate toothy grin. Until he realized that it was you that was taking the pain for him
"Sunshine please don't hurt for me" he said to you while moving back slightly to cancel the effect of your power but you came closer and resumed what you were doing brushing one of his gold strand behind his ear. He looked at you with hearts in his eyes before kissing your cheek
After the fiasco of this mission you decided to train even harder to make sure to never see him hurt like that
You managed to master the Iron Fist with your second hand. Being able to concentrate your vital energy to strike without taking a momentum with that one too
You took a cue from Guy and Rock Lee's kicking style attacks for the rest of your training. Trying to concentrate your chakra in your foot so that it can blow through walls and metal doors
Deidara loves to call you "The queen of the grand entrance"
The last step of your training was the most difficult. This is the mental side of your power
You realized that in a moment of stress you could communicate mentally with your boyfriend
The first time it happened you were 500 meters ( 0.007 miles ) away from him and he heard you yell a mentally directed insult at your opponent but he could have sworn you were screaming next to him, turning around to make sure you weren't there but of course you weren't. In the evening he had asked you about it and that's when you realized your potential
After weeks of training you were able to establish a psychic link with your allies enough for them to respond to you in battle
In everyday life it was quite practical to exchange sweet words with Deidara without the others hearing or just when you wanted to see the pink rise on his cheeks and his eyes turn to the other side as the pink turned red
It's in the extension of this ability that Itachi came to talk to you. Indeed, he was wondering if your pshychic ability could be close to his hypnotic Sharingan. Two hypnotists in the ranks of the Akatsuki was better than one
So you started to train with him and after much effort you were able to master light effects that had the ability to hypnotize your enemies
Deidara was a bit jealous during the time you were training. He felt that you were spending all your time with the Uchiwa. But the truth was that he wasn't going easy on you and the training was more torture than fun as Deidara feared
At least, thanks to Itachi, you were able to improve your kunai throwing and your psychic abilities
All the members of the Akatsuki were pleased to have a member as powerful as you
Soon you would be able to rule the world with the help of you and your powers
And Deidara couldn't be prouder of you. He never stopped reminding people that you were his muse, his sorcery of inspiration and above all the love of his life
"On your knees all of you ! The muse of destruction is going to take over your lives on behalf of the Akatsuki !"
~

Soulmate Pt1- Shikamaru Nara
Prompt: You wake up the day of your 18th birthday with a strange tattoo...
(Hey guys, I know I haven’t written anything in a long time and I want to be honest and say that I’ve been having an enourmous amount of writer’s block, like no inspo but I’ll try my best and hope you guys enjoy this)
________________________________________________________________
My eyes stare at the ceiling of my room, my mind going over the day, my 18th birthday.
Wait, you guys don’t know what i’m talking about.
Let’s go back to this morning.
I woke up with a smile, beautiful and warm weather and I’m greeted by my cat, Suki.
She purrs while rubbing herself to me, her fur as soft as a teddy bear.
I pick her up and go to the living room, the smell of food making my stomach rumble:
“Happy birthday my love” my mother sneaks up behind me, hugging me, Suki landing by my feet:
“Thank you mum” I hug her back. She came back from her mission last night, her eyes dark with circles underneath them, her knuckles bruised, her arm in a cast:
“You don’t have to do anything too big for me, mum. You need to rest after your mission and didn’t Sakura say that you had to rest ?” I say, watching my mother struggle with the cooking.
I slightly push her away as she understands the message, she sits down, replying:
“But it’s your 18th birthday, we need to celebrate” she comments
“I would rather celebrate it when you are back to health and feeling better, don’t worry about me” I answer.
I hear my mother sigh, her fingers playing with the surface of the table when I hear:
“Oh Y/N, you’ve got it !”
“Got what ?” I reply
“Your tattoo !”
I completely forgot about that.
Basically the day of your 18th birthday, you get a tattoo of the first thing that your soulmate will ever say to you, even if you know them.
“I can’t read it, what does it say ?” of course mine had to be behind my arm.
My mum lifts my arm and says:
“What a drag”
“I know it’s really annoying that it’s behind my arm, I can’t read it”
“No, honey, it says ‘what a drag’“ she finishes her sentence, a smile on her face as she lets out a small laugh
“Seriously, that is not funny” I huff, wondering who would say that kind of thing
“This guy must complain a lot, just like your father” she laughs, my face showing discontent, my brain almost boiling wondering who would say that.
I look at the clock, 9:30 AM, I’M GOING TO BE LATE AND KAKASHI IS GOING TO KILL ME.
I scoff down my breakfest, kissing my mum and yell goodbye as I’m running out of the house, my mother nodding, her good hand holding her head as she watches me leave.
I start running through Konoha, a few people wishing me happy birthday as I shout thank you.
I arrive at the meeting point, Sakura and Naruto waiting for me, their hands crossed while their feet are hitting the ground, seemingly annoyed:
“I’m so sorry I’m late” I pant out, having the impression that the air in my lungs has disappeared:
“Y/N you are always late” Naruto says.
I stare at him quizzically, Sakura rubbing her eyes as she nods:
“You have some gall saying that” I reply staring at him
“I was supposed to say it, you idiot” Sakura sighs, Naruto rubbing his neck
“Oh yeah, hehe”
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY Y/N” I turn around, letting out a scream, to find Kakashi and the other teams.
“Happy birthday Y/N” Hinata apporaches me, a chocolat cake in her hand
“Oh Hina, thank you” I say, tears forming in my eyes
“Come on Y/N, let’s celebrate!” Naruto shouts, wrapping his arm around me as we head out.
We spend the day in the park, the teams all together with their senseis:
“Your mum asked us if we could plan this knowing that she just came back from a mission, she asked me when she came to get checked out yesterday” Sakura says, putting a big piece of cake in her mouth.
I look around, seeing everyone laughing and smiling warming me up, although I have noticed that Shikamaru has been very quiet:
“Is Shikamaru okay ?” I ask Ino, who was sitting next to me
“Oh, you know him, Y/N, he’s a grump and not very social”
I observe him still, worried about him.
He and I have never had long conversations and we have never hung out alone but there’s something different about him, I don’t know how to explain it.
I see Kiba approaching him, the two boys start having a conversation:
“Shikamaru, we have to leave for a mission tomorrow”
Shikamaru puts his head in his hands:
“What a drag”
My eyes widen and the air is kicked out of my gut, his words echoing as I remember the tattoo that I have on me.
I start shaking my head, my brain processing the information:
“Y/N, are you okay ?” asks Sakura, her hands on my forehead
“Yeah, I think I’m starting to feel tired, I think i’m gonna go”
I start getting up, Sakura and Naruto seemingly concerned get up as well
“Thank you guys for everything, I had the most amazing day” I say.
I look at Sakura and Naruto, reassuring them that I could go alone.
As I’m walking in Konoha, my mind wanders, I mean, Shikamaru, how could this be ?
I always thought that it worked on a level of affinity or something.
I arrive home, my mother asleep on the couch.
I wrap her in a blanket and head to my room, pacing around.
He’s leaving on a mission tomorrow, I don’t know what could happen.
I have to tell him...
