She could cry. How could she have fallen in love with them?

"Every time I look at you, I can't help but hope you feel the same butterflies in your stomach when you look back at me. But deep down, I know all you feel is hatred."

He hated the feeling that he got in his chest whenever he looked at them. It only reminded him that they would never reciprocate his feelings.

"I love you," she blurted. Part of her wanted to take it back, but the other half knew it didn't matter.

"Why do you hate me?" They asked, their heart aching. "You don't have any idea what you're doing to me."

Spoilers for Sonic 3. This is just a rant. I just really want to get my thoughts out there and everything off my chest because I am just so upset, like really really upset. I am shocked I have heard nothing but praise for this movie. It really got my hopes up. I really didn't like the other ones. I'm not a big fan of the live action plus animated characters combo, The characters still look super uncanny and weird to me. I also really don't like Jim Carrey, I realllllly reallly don't like him. I don't find him funny at all. He's got kind of that millennial humor where it seems he thinks making weird faces and acting goofy is the peak of humor. Idk if younger kids find that funny, I feel like I wouldn't even as a kid. But I especially don't like it now, I'm just old man, I'm tired. I really wanted this movie to be a little more mature. Shadow Generations did such a good job. Dark Beginnings was amazing. I wish this movie could have felt more like that.

These movies just don't feel like Sonic at all. I know everyone gets sick of people complaining about Sonic's personality in these. But I think those are valid complaints. He just doesn't act or feel like Sonic and I don't think anything they do can make me view him as Sonic.

I just can't get over the whole Sonic the other characters being aliens from a different planet thing. It makes it hard to introduce other characters. And it completely changed who Sonic is. And now it's changed who Shadow is. Shadow is now just Sonic but edgy. He's just Sonic but if he got caught and put in a lab instead of living by himself and later getting adopted by humans. They took the Shadow being a darker version of Sonic thing literally. They changed everything about his backstory all while talking about how they wanted to do his backstory right.

It just hurts so much. I know I shouldn't be so affected by this. But I have been a fan of the Sonic franchise for so long and Shadow has always been one of my favorite characters of all time. And it hurts to have had my hopes up for this movie even a little bit thinking it would at least be better than the others and be so so disappointed. Maybe I don't have a right to complain because I didn't actually finish watching it. I started crying and ended up leaving around 45 mins in. Really embarrassing. I just couldn't enjoy it. I really really didn't like the Jim Carrey parts, they were painful. I was willing to sit though them because I wanted to see Shadow's backstory brought to screen in a big movie. But then then they explain his backstory and it's nothing like the games.

He crashed to earth in a comet. He wasn't created by Gerald. Maria wasn't sick. They didn't live on Space Colony Ark. I was so confused. I never even considered that they would change any of this. I thought the gun commander was just lying to Sonic about where Shadow came from so Sonic would work for them or something. But then they show the flashback with Maria and it's still the same. I ended up quickly looking up on my phone it they changed his backstory for this movie and they did. I just don't get why. I've seen people say because it wouldn't make sense in the movie universe because in the movies Sonic and friends are aliens. So they decide to just make Shadow an alien just like them?? I feel like they could have made his backstory work somehow. They didn't even try. Now he's just a literal dark parallel to Sonic. He's always been so but not like this. Do they think the most important part of his backstory is that he was in a lab, there was a professor and also a little girl he was friends with that gets killed.

It just kills me that they changed everything about Maria. She's not sick??? I guess if she's not sick it makes no sense for Gerald to have been researching a way to cure her or anything. I hate it so much. Shadow being just an alien takes away so much depth from all of their characters. Maria is the reason Shadow exists in the first place. She was so important. Their relationship was so important. It feel so much more meaningful for Shadow to have been created by her grandfather to cure her, than him just being some alien she was friends with. Her being sick but also so kind and hopeful was so important. She gets killed by the government when they raided a place that was trying to find a cure for her and she still tells Shadow to protect the people of earth. Maria was so important but now she's just some kid he was friends with I guess. I hate that they took away her sickness and her disability. I loved that the journal that came with Sonic x Shadow Generations portrayed that more. I loved that they showed it actually affecting her. I loved them showing her in the wheelchair hooked up to the iv bag but she was still smiling. She was still strong and hopeful despite everything and she still wanted Shadow to protect the earth despite what happened. And this movie took all that away from her character. I hate it.

Them just living on earth on some base makes me so upset. I was excited to see them on the Space Colony Ark. I wanted to see them looking out the window of the ark at the earth but instead I get them laying in the grass looking at the stars. Maria was so tragic because she loved the earth so much but she couldn't be there because she was sick. They took all of those parts of her character away.

I don't know how Professor Gerald was portrayed all I've seen of him was what was in the trailers and the brief glimpse I got before I left and I've hated everything I've seen. Gerald has never been as silly a character as Eggman. But it seems like Jim Carrey was playing him exactly the same. I assume he changes and acts different towards the end but my impression of him was already ruined. What's the point of him if he didn't create Shadow as a way to cure his granddaughter. It takes away so much from his character. He was also a tragic character. Him trying to do good with his research but then using his creation, Shadow as a weapon against humanity after his granddaughter is killed even after his death is ruined. He's still alive and he didn't create Shadow. I hate it so much. It's not as tragic with him still being alive. Did they have him still be alive so Jim Carrey could play double the annoying wacky roles. Gerald Robotnik is supposed to be a sad tragic old man but all I got was Jim Carrey in goofy looking prosthetic makeup.

Look I know it's a kids movie but couldn't they at least of made it a little less silly. The games were also kids games. Shadow Generation was also a kids game but it did a way better job with handling these characters. Maria and Gerald were Shadow's family. Gerald was his dad, sort of, I hate that they changed that. I guess Maria was still like family with him in this (idk what his relationship with Gerald was I didn't watch that far) but it's not the same.

I loved the Space Colony Ark, I loved it being some research lab up in space. What about artificial chaos, the biolizard, emerl??? None of that is a thing in these movies. It just sucks sooo much. Everything I love about the games is not in this movie. I couldn't finish watching it because I was so upset about the changes. It was bothering me so much it made Jim Carrey so much more insufferable. I am wondering if Shadow still has some connection to the Black Arms because he did fall to earth in a suspicious looking comet. I don't know if I even care because they already took away all the most important parts of his backstory.

Shadow's backstory being changed also kind of ruined the whole Sonic and his powers being sort of a natural force of nature thing and Shadow and his power being a man made thing. Like Shadow is always claiming to be the ultimate life form but he almost can't live up to Sonic's natural talent. It makes their rivalry so much more interesting. I also hate them having such similar backstories here. Sonic is supposed to be unburdened, free as the wind, living in the present, we don't even know what his backstory is. While Shadow is nothing but backstory, haunted by the past and burdened with tragedy.

Movie Sonic is nothing like game Sonic. There is very little that I love about game Sonic present in movie Sonic. I hate that since movie Sonic has a backstory they decided to take most of Shadow's backstory away so he would parallel Sonic. They really just made him Sonic but not nice.

I've just wanted to see a fully animated Sonic movie for years. I've especially wanted to see Sonic Adventure 2 adapted as an animated movie. These movies ruined my chance of seeing that. I thought this movie would be as close as I'd ever get to seeing SA2 in movie form. But there was nothing about it that was similar. Shadow may have the right personality but he has none of his backstory. Sonic isn't anything like Sonic. Tails is Tails I guess. I don't really care much about Knuckles but he doesn't even feel similar to his game counterpart.

I really hate everything they are doing with this movies. It's fine if people like them. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion. I just really wanted to write how I feel about them because this one really upset me. I've cried a lot because of it. Which is silly I know. Shadow's character was important to me and so was Maria and it hurts so see so much changed about it. I had a dream a couple nights ago that I was watching this movie in theaters. In the dream there was some kind of change I didn't like and the movie was really short and I was really disappointed about it. I remember being upset about it because it sucked so bad. And the same thing happened when I actually saw the movie. They changed a lot and it was short because I left early. I just usually don't get excited for things because they usually disappoint me. I was kinda looking forward to this one and the good reviews didn't help. I was probably more excited than I realized because I did dream about it multiple times. I was disappointed in every dream. Usually when I am looking forward to something I have dreams about the thing where it sucks. I never been this thoroughly disappointed though. I think this is going to ruin my enjoyment of the Sonic franchise, everytime I see anything Sonic I think this movie and the disappointment that came with it is going to pop into my head.

Something that really bothers me is this quote from the director.

They didn't want too many characters so they could get Shadow's backstory right??? They got nothing about it right. I wish they wouldn't have added Gerald in the movie. He felt unnecessary. I would have much rather have had Rouge than another Jim Carrey. Rouge is important to Shadow's character. She was introduced in the same game. I hate that she was just sidelined like that. Them talking about how they wanted to do Shadow's backstory right just got my hopes up too much.

The lead up to the movie made me more excited than I should have been I guess. I preordered Sonic x Shadow Generations when it was announced. I played it when it came out, it had everything I loved about Shadow's character in it. I went to the Sonic Symphony this November. I felt like this movie, even if it wasn't great would at least be a fun way to end all of that. But it really just left me feeling awful.

I'm sure these movies have been great for the Sonic franchise. The money made from them probably helps them make better games. They've probably introduced a more people and kids to the Sonic franchise. I just kinda hate that this is the version they are introduced to.

I'm just so upset but I keep thinking something's wrong with me because everyone else seems to be enjoying it but I just can't. I don't think I am going to be watching any more of these movies, this one killed any interest.

the lingering of jackie taylor was never stopping and shauna knew that, she knew she could never see her best friend again and even if she could jackie would've never forgave her for the shit she'd done. but that doesn't forget that she's everywhere. her scent, some of her clothes, her blanket she was sleeping on and that god damn necklace. it wasn't a secret that shauna wears it everyday but she can't deny the guilt she feels when she does so.

but she still has the lingering taste on her tongue whenever she swallows and it hurts. everything hurts to her and it won't stop, that was until shauna started seeing you. she always saw you passing by helping out tai and van but she couldn't stop herself from seeing jackie. she hated that, she hated you so much cause of how much u were like jackie.

shauna didn't know when she would snap it felt like her skin was rotting every second of every day. you were just so perfect. the way your hair would fall so naturally, the excessive jewelry u kept, the laugh u would let out of a stupid joke van made, and those green eyes. your eyes was probably the most thing that made shauna think of jackie, of course it was jackie had the most beautiful eyes ever it was like looking into lava lamp from the way she had u memorized.

shauna loved that about her and she hated that u resembled that so well. shauna tried to not show the hate but it honestly was really hard i mean can u blame her u were a carbon copy of jackie which made her want to cry.

the first time she started to notice that she was in love with you was when she laughed for the first time in a while. it was a really corny pick up line you made while you guys were sorting through ur luggage cause to be honest who packs this much on a trip for only a few days. shauna was sitting down next to you while you guys were both picking apart your suitcase, whenever the room got quiet for too long you put down the shirt you had in your hands and looked at shauna.

“do you know any pickup lines?” you said while messing with the charms on ur bracelet and shauna turned her head to you looking at you up and down in a more confusing way and not a why are you talking to me way.

“um not really why” shauna tilted her head and saw you scrunch your nose for a while, which shauna noticed you often do that alot.

”i know some reallly good ones wanna hear?” you clapped ur hands in a excited way as your eyes lit up.

“uhh sure” she replied as she laid down on the mattress which she saw that you did right after.

“u spend so much time in my mind i should charge u rent girl” you giggled a little at your own add on to the pickup line as you refused to look a shauna for her reaction to that unfunny pickup line.

and surprisingly shauna started laughing like actually laughing. you've never seen her give you a real smile but a laugh? yeah she'll take it. “oh my god is that real?” she wiped her eye from them being watery before because of all the dust up here.

”yes it is! i swear” you turned your head to look at the doe eyed girl who was smiling at you and for a second you guys just stared at each other. a little longer then people normally stare at each other but it just felt right. at least to shauna it felt that way, for a moment she forgot everything that has happened but at the same time she still remembered everything. for a hot minute shauna saw jackie looking at her smiling with that same uniform jacket she had on, “do i look like her shauna?” she heard and saw jackie talking to her and shauna wanted it to be real god she really did. but her conscience knew it wasn't which made her snap out of it in the most subtle way.

”shauna?” you said as you waved your hand in front of her face and shauna looked up at you the smile that she originally had on faded a while ago.

”we should continue unpacking” you commented on the suitcase that you guys barely unpacked, which sounds like we're going on a trip to las vegas or something but no we're literally stuck in the wilderness. shauna wasn't really over the moment that just happened but her eyes still kept wandering to you and she didn't know if she wanted to kiss you or cry in your arms.

that's what really fucked her up she didn't know what she felt. was she really in love with you or her dead best friend? that shit really kept her up at night which was every night, she couldn't sleep at all cause she kept thinking of you and jackie. whenever she tried to go to sleep she kept smelling your scent, you smelt almost like vanilla same as jackie's perfume she always kept in her bag.

it was everyday. shauna couldn't get you out of her mind every time you were walking she saw jackie walking around which made her start ignoring you. she couldn't handle the pain from just looking at you, it hurt it really fucking hurt. every time you would try to go up to her she would walk away or just not respond and if she did it was some snarky remark.

shauna was naturally a over thinker she thinks she was just born with that. born with the will to care about people so much it fucks up your mental health and how you take care of yourself. but as she normally does she was doing just that right now, she was sitting on the porch playing with a strand of her hair while pecks of snow was falling on her hair. 'does she love you?' kept replaying in her head like a puzzle of a rubric cube, shauna didn't know but she couldn't just go up to you and just flat out kiss you to get her answer. but the more she thought of it the more overwhelmed she got, the pace shauna was messing with that strand of hair got faster and everything felt like a ticking time bomb in her mind.

then she just stopped and stood up while she started to sob, she covered up her mouth so nobody could hear her let out these honestly pathetic sobs. shauna wanted to curl up into a ball and just hide, hide forever but that wasn't what she really wanted was it? she wanted needed you. she needed it so bad that she got overstimulated from how much she was crying and she felt the cold start falling on her body, shauna could almost feel like cold was slowly eating at her insides. shauna honestly couldn't move she couldn't find the upper body strength to move and she was like a shadow.

that was until you came outside and saw shauna just standing up sobbing. ”shauna? what are you doing out here?” you put a blanket on her shoulders as she tensed up from the warmth from the blanket. she tried to make words come out of her mouth but she just couldn't all that came out was cries.

“cmon let's go inside.” you looked at her as you understood the state she was in and you softly put a hand on her back, leading her inside and upstairs to the attic.

you placed her down on the mattress while she was still sobbing but not as much whenever she first started crying, and you started wiping down the snow that was in her hair until you couldn't really see anymore. “wanna tell me why you were crying?” you spoke in a soft tone as you kneeled down to her level.

she didn't know what to say. she couldn't just say ' i don't know if im in love with you or my dead best friend because you are literally a carbon copy of her.' shauna tried to say anything but she couldn't really focus because of your hand that was on hers it honestly made her want to cry more.

but eventually she said something it took a while but could u honestly blame her. “i- i think no i know im in love with you and im confused because i don't know i actually love you or jackie which you look alot like her and i just i can't —” shauna spoke faster than usual as she put her hands in her hair and just started sobbing more, you couldn't really think of anything right now. where you actually that similar to jackie? the fact didn't really scare or weird you out more of a does shauna really love me to the point she started seeing jackie or did she always see jackie in you?

but you ignored your problems for a second and hugged shauna, the way she just melted into your arms felt natural to the both of you guys. the violent sobs that came out of her almost made you want to cry with her, you put your hand in shauna's hair softly rubbing her scalp in a soothing way not wanting to hurt her at all.

you never spoke you just wanted her to let all of her sobs out, i mean when was the last time she actually hugged and had a meaningful moment with someone like this. shauna laid her head on your chest and hugged your waist as her sobs started to get quieter.

shauna never wanted this moment to end that's probably why she kept holding onto you until you made the move to let go. “are you okay now?” shauna simply nodded her head as she wiped her eyes and looked up at you as she fidgeted with the ring on her finger.

you placed a hand on her cheek and tilted your head sideways as you tried to find the right words to say after what she just told you.

“do you love me?” you asked her as your hand was still on her cold cheek. shauna didn't know what to say whatever came out of her mouth was complete nonsense but she still got to say something at least.

“i- i don't know i love you but i don't know if im confusing you with jackie i just i- i dont know.” shauna started picking at her skin on her thumb and you placed ur hand down on hers which made her stop picking at it but she still had the urge to.

to be honest shauna didn't have the right energy to answer all these questions not in the state she was in right now and you noticed that. “okay, well uhm goodnight shauna.” you stated as you got up and was about to leave the attic but shauna pulled at your arm. “can u stay with me? please.” you then softly smiled as you nodded and shauna was waiting for you to lie down first before she can.

you laid down and she did the same right after you while also putting the blanket on both of you guys. you stared at shauna as she was trying to fall asleep but just couldn't from how hard she was struggling to. shauna just gave up and noticed that you were just staring at her in those kinda loving eyes.

shauna didn't know how much the tension was going on but it must of been enough for you to kiss her. you just slowly leaned in and tucked a hair behind her ear that was in front of her face, kissing her soft lips. you didn't mind the coldness since she was outside for a period of time but you honestly could tell she got warmer by the second. shauna wanted to pull you in closer she really did but she didn't wanna fuck anything up and the taste of your sweet lips was enough for her even if it was a small portion of what she wanted. you pulled away and looked up at her eyes then her lips. shauna softly smiled at you it wasn't a regular or big smile but you'll take it, you just wanted to see her happy for once.

shauna paused before she said anything but she eventually had the courage to do so. ”i love you.” shauna sleepily said as she bit her cheek and look anywhere but your face. “i- i don't care if you don't think i don't but i believe i do. i truly do.” shauna added on and you kissed her cheek which surprised her a little. “i love you too.” you replied and smiled back at her which she responded with a little laugh.

she then found herself cuddled up into your arms slowly falling asleep, she found your presence comforting and it's probably the only way she could sleep from now on was from you just being there. it was the only sense of comfort that she found in this hellhole, but she knew she loved you and maybe that is what finally made her sleep peacefully.

well, yeah, i'm not saying she shouldn't have been taken out of those clothes at all. it's just that 1 bath should have been sufficient to wash the stink off her and it would have been more practical to put her in boy's clothes from the start, or at least after the acorn dress. i'm not trying to hate on lady smallwood, i like her too, but the point is, when comparing ravella smallwood with catelyn stark, it must be noted that yes, only one is arya's mother, not just in the sense that arya loves her mother and only wants her, but bc children act differently with their actual parents than with other adults, strangers, parents of other children. arya didn't care about the lady's early attempts to bond with her through talk of needlework and her daughter, it was only at the end of the chapter when she spoke of her dead son that arya felt a connection. idt that one moment is enough to say their interactions were better than any arya had with her actual mother, or that she'd have a better, more easily feminine life if she only had a mother like lady smallwood.

I am watching the new episodes as I am typing this, so I will share some thoughts of mine that came during my viewing!

Episode 05 -- Dad Beat Dad

Okay, first off, Niffty needs a handler. Thank you, Angel! Next, Lucifer and Lilith split? As in...divorced? ...Huh... Did it happen 7 seven years ago too?

So, Lucifer (voiced by Jeremy Jordan, who voiced Varian from the Tangled series) turns out to be just an awkward short king with a dash of depression. Literarily. And he makes/collects rubber duckies as a coping mechanism...I mean, there are worse coping mechanisms.

Clearly, Lucifer loves both Lilith and Charlie with all his heart.

No, Shisui would never hate Itachi. At least I hope he never would. Itachi has a negative opinion of himself because he blames himself for all the mess, refusing to see other people put him where he was. He was a genius and all that, so he believed he should have been able to come up with a solution where no side was hurt. He wanted the clan to drop the idea of the coup and village to not kill his clan. But when neither the village nor the clan would step down, he had no other option but to do what he did.

Since it was an evil act, he thinks he alone deserves punishment. He can't understand why anyone would love him. But too bad for him that people do love him and would understand he did not have much of a choice.

I just find it incredibly sad that he didn't even have the comfort of knowing that his only friend would support him. Argh. I'm already sad thinking about him these days.

So I Believe I've talked about how the haram reacts to the kids but no the kids reacting to the Harem. And I think each kid kind of has their favorite. So let's go by each kid and their favorite.

Diona

Dad protector number home. So getting close to Diluc is generally a criminal offense in here eyes. So most of the harem she loathes. Kaveh and Zhongli get bonus hate points because of their drinking habits. Itto is just too loud. Eula is probably getting judged on her reputation same with Al Haitham. But no extra hate. Albedo and Xiao she just doesn't vibe with. They are too indifferent. Ayato and Thoma get extra hate points for being dog people. The only one she really ends up liking and tolerating.... is Childe. It's partly because Childe actually put up with her and sort of knows how to deal with her. He's a family man and treats her like one of his no matter how mean she is to him. Because he knows it's not real hate. So while she still says he's gross and got cooties. She actually really likes Childe.

Bennett

So unlike Diona Bennett really like most of Diluc's suitors. He's already kind of used to having a hoard of Dads so as long as they make Diluc happy. But his favorite... It's Kaveh. Partly because Bennett... Presents Kaveh's biggest challenge. No matter what Kaveh builds Bennett can break it. And to be honestly Kaveh loves it. He loves trying to make Bennett proof things. So they just bounds and attach so well. Like he gets along with everyone else but with Kaveh. They just click man.

Fischl

So Fischl's favorite might through people through a loop. because this person doesn't reallly do kids but they both end up with a weird soft spot for each others. So it's Ayato. And while Ayato not a big fan of the kids in general he really does have a soft spot for Fischl because of her acting and her dramatic speech. He finds a lot in it actually quite admirable because it's her trying to be the person she wants to be. For Fischl part she like Bennett gets along with most of the Harem but few understand her. (Al Haitham does be he doesn't play along) But Ayato always plays along with her. He's not nearly as dramatic but he'll play any roll she gives him and he does it well and I think she understand him in a way only people who wear masks can understand each others.

Klee

So We all know who Klee (and by extension Alice) Is rooting for. Like clears as day it's Albedo But I think like Bennett Klee gets along with Kaveh really well so he's runner up. He also likes testing out building that can with stand Klee's bombs. And She loves hearing around all the homes he's made for people She also really like Thoma just because he's the best! To be fair most of the harem gets "Is the best!" treatment from Klee like even Al Haitham does because thought he doesn't smile he reads to her and probably even made protective head gear for her. I think Ayato and Xiao are the ones she likes the least. Because Ayato's smile always feel off and Xiao probably avoids her like the plague (for her own safety in his mind)

Razor

So this one really crakes me up because like Diona Razor doesn't trust a lot of the harem. He's a bit more protective of Diluc then the others (Save Diona of course) But funny enough that one he gets along with the most is Al Haitham. Because he's blunt he's straights forwards and despite being so smart Razor can always understand him. And honestly. Part of it is because Al Haitham doesn't really know how to interact with children so he kind of treats them like pets? And yeah that works Razor.

Well, the ship looks like Elbaf-made (and now that we know how connected to the giants Shanks and his crew are, I think it really IS). And we now know that the giants are really pro-Nika, like that’s THEIR deity (if I remember correctly). So it is also possible that it’s part of their aesthetics and Shanks decided to leave it to not offend them and/or blend in.

Personally tho I HATE the evil!Shanks theory. I love Shanks and turn into putty when reading those parental!Shanks-Luffy fics T.T (also, I’ve always admired his non-confrontational/pacifist ideals).

But that smile in that episode looked somewhere between sleazy and unhinged to me. Idk if it was the animation style, but I think I got similar vibes from the manga too. Idk. But his expression when Kid was attacking and killing his subordinates felt genuine? So maybe he just doesn’t like how handsy they were being. REALLY don’t know. The scene made me smile tho, because this man is so loved! And his subordinates have zero fear. And unlike the other Emperors, he doesn’t do the whole tribute thing at all. There’s also the fact that he seems to be the only pirate that is hella respected on BOTH sides of the law.

hmmm... i wouldn't say the Red Force is Elbaf-made... it might look like it at first since it's one of the most realistic-looking ships in One Piece with quite a simple figurehead and Elbaf giants also use realistic-looking Viking longships with a simple figurehead and you could say the swirl markings and their placement on the Red Force are similar to the swirl markings on the ship Dorry and Broggy took to Egghead but that's just that, they are similar, not the same. the ship types are also different. Elbaf giants use longships while the Red Force is a galleon (or looks like it, i'm not an expert and One Piece ships aren't exactly realistic). also, Red Hai Pirates had a similar looking ship but smaller, less detailed and without the sun symbol (a barque, i'd say) but with a very similar figurehead in ch 1 which was before they even went to the New World. and last but not least, none of the Elbaf ships seen so far have the sun symbol on them. so i wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the Red Force was built by the Elbaf giants. i'm not ruling the idea out, it's just there is no airtight evidence to prove it to be correct.

about Shanks' smile ep 1112, i never thought of it as sleazy? more like a combination of mischievous amusement, fluster and drunkenness. those expressions are also anime only and i only accept the manga as canon. and those are these in ch 1079:

Okay, just putting out some of my random ass, balls-to-the-walls theories about Dai dark. None of these are actually based upon fact, mostly just gut feeling or little things that have happened so far in the series (btw, don't think I've read past either vol. Five or Six (it's hard to remember for me cuz I read them online lol) So if anything I say doesn't add up to how the story is right now, that's why.)

anyways, spoilers abound ahead!

I think Avakian is actually Zaha Sanko. Like, Idk it's hard to explain ig...but I think the Older Sanko we see in that one weird dream/flashback that Sanko had is actually Avakian. I can't remember what the pannels looks like exactly, but I believe it kinda looked like old Sanko was being sacrificed or something, and carried by what could possibly be two light head members. But I think that it's more likely Zolar "members" possibly? Depends on what "Zolar" really is. Where ever he (Old Sanko) is really at could also be "Zolar".

I also maybe think that it isnt actually Sanko that has the "wish bones" like most people think. I think it's Avakian. Idk not much to back this one up either other than a one off line that was something like Avakian saying that if Sanko dies, he dies too. Also kinda of think that it could connect with the sort of "reincarnation" theory I think is going on with Sanko/Avakian.

I also think that it's possible that Shimada could have killed Sanko previously. Maybe that's why Avakian hates him so much? Seems like Shimada's relations run much deeper with Avakian (and Sanko, to a certain extent) than the series is letting on.

ALSO ALSOO. I think it's REALLLY kinda suspicious that shimada just hangs around Sanko all of the time. Like, Yes he technically has a reason to do so, aka. eating lots of "the flesh of death" and saying they " taste better when it's not him that's killing the person" but I think the whole thing is kinda fishy tbh.. Seems like an excuse to me for some reason? Like I said, pure speculation, but I find it hard to trust Shimada, especially because it seems like the series WANTS you to.

I also don't really think Shimada death is actually "death". (atleast, in the grim reaper sort of way that I believe he's supposed to be like) I think just because he can kill on demand, doesn't mean that he's death.. Sounds funny, since he literally has " death" in his name, but I think maybe the "death" part could be some sort of alias that he picked up from being a space menace, lol. (Also, wish I knew Japanese, since I think that could possibly give more context clues to what's going on with him. Sorta like the thing Q did with aikawa, kai, and ai, possibly?) I also don't think he's immortal (I talked abt this in another post lol). Again, not really any solid evidence to base this upon other than a gut feeling that a being thats actually "death" is going to show up and fuck the group up lol.

Anyways done throwing out some of my theories that will probably be bogus, because you never really know for sure with Q's writing style until the plot twist is revealed, then it all suddenly makes sense in hindsight, lol.

Shizuku

First impression: I know that Matsui-sensei gives all his characters their time to shine, so I was excited to see how he'd treat her as the story progressed. Her deadpan delivery was really endearing to me.

Impression now: I really adore Shizuku!! Her arc is such a beautiful example of so many themes that are important to this story. I can't wait to see her grow into herself and become more outspoken, and fight for her desires...! and also just experience the pleasures that life has to offer!

Favorite moment: "I want to feed your eyeball to a snake ^_^" is one of the first things she said that really made me giggle hehe. Her gambling battle against Mima is so insanely iconic and I think about it all the time.

Idea for a story: If I had to write about her... her having a vision and talking to shige post-timeskip (similar to what happens during the mima boat battle) would be interesting. whatever i wrote would probably be very quiet and introspective. i do also want to keep working on the role swap au where toki is a god of a shrine and shizuku has known him since they were very small!!

Unpopular opinion: I can imagine people would get up in arms about her relationship to toki bc she calls him 'nii-sama' lol. It's very clear that she does have romantic feelings for him. unpopular opinion i suppose is that i love her love for him, and i think it's as beautiful and valid as mima and ayako's, too, but it's also important to me that they do NOT end up together. the only answer is for him to marry all three of them or none of them tbh, lol. this is an opinion that is exclusive to nigewaka and matsui's writing bc i literally detest harem/love triangles in any other media.

Favorite relationship: I like her and Ayako trying to navigate both having crushes on waka tbh, lol. which again is a testament to how good matsui-sensei's writing is because as I said before i usually Hate this angle.

Favorite headcanon: she's weeeeeeird bro. let her be weird. i can't remember if they actually make this joke in the manga or if i made it up but she's a kid who would sit and squish ants or drown them a little bit fr (sob). i think we need to let her say strange unknowable and slightly unhinged things more often

Tokitsugu

First impression: tokitsugu freaked the hell out of me when i first saw him because at the point where he showed up, i still hadn't been able to figure out if shizuku was shige's biological daughter or not, lmao. so i was like WTF DO YOU MEANNNN HE HAS ANOTHER KID. he sent me into a tailspin trying to figure out how old shige was, too, lmfao.

Impression now: I LOVE HIM. i love him. i freaking love the suwa family so much. beautiful man and his horrible son. i love them

Favorite moment: I love when he cries a little bit and blurts out that everybody ignores him when his dad is around. it's so freaking funny. more poignant answer is when he admits to yorishige that he snuck into his bed as a child... cries forever.

Idea for a story: I really really REALLLY wanna write modern AU answer to the 'kunitoki meets shige' fic where shige introduces tokitsugu to tokiyuki. i think he'd want to be supportive. but he also is like. this is..... unusual...

Unpopular opinion: More people should pay attention to him. GIVE HIM ATTENTION!!!! I love you forever Tokitsugu

Favorite relationship: I think about him and Yoritsugu a lot. i can't imagine it was easy raising a kid like that, haha...

Favorite headcanon: in modern AU i headcanon him as not being fully blind, but having a degenerative eye disease that has been slowly getting worse as an adult :( he's a single dad and lives with yoritsugu in a rural little area maybe 45 minutes away by train from where shige lives, but his health problems have been making it harder for him to come and visit his dad.

somthing that annoys me SO MUCH about a lot of Regulus fics (other than how many of them are jegulus. seriously so many of their plots look so interesting but i just can't read jegulus it Reallly doesn't do it for me) is how in almost every single one, Regulus has no friends. not a single one. and the authors always just sort of add him on to the end of the marauders and call it done. SO, I just wanted to say that I appreciate it a lot that in ttdl (and career goals) you gave Regulus FRIENDS!! I like that you've given the Slytherins personalities beyond "Evil" and "Bully," even the ones that are Bullies and will be Evil! (Regulus' camaraderie with the quidditch team my BELOVED. the group celebration after the winning game in ttdl? that heart stopping moment in career goals: tyrant when Megan fell off her broom and Regulus was so worried? His protective thoughts about her ex. 'my second year'? Geoff being Dad? Theophania? (her matching hair ribbons with Megan and Emma was soo cute (nothing to do with Regulus but jsyk I really liked that detail)) Travers (i can't remember his first name but i appreciate him anyways) I totally just got sidetracked but <3<3<3 REGULUS HAS FRIENDS!!)

ok SAME. regulus is another character, like james and lily, who is very easy to reduce down to like. 1-2 canon moments and a couple of character traits, and i think a lot of the 'regulus doesn't have his own friends' fics are also the ones that tend to infantilize regulus and/or just make him someone who exists to Be Saved (by either james or sirius, usually)

which!! i cannot stress enough!! is easy to write. there's a reason these fics are all over the place. if regulus doesn't have his own friends, then you don't need to figure out who they are or what their personalities are like or how they impact him and his relationships with the marauders (who tend to be the focal point of the story). simple casts of characters make things simple. that's valid as a writing choice.

however. GIVE THE BOY SOME GODDAMN FRIENDS. i s2g it's like canon lily. she just has the convenient muggle sister (bad relationship), snape (bad relationship, also he's in love with her which reinforces lily as Romantic Interest™ instead of a person), james (canonically, they apparently seem to be on bad terms until lily finally gives in and starts dating him, which, yuck), and harry (so lily can die for him!!)

whereas regulus, in contrast, tends to have walburga (bad relationship), sirius (estrangement), MAYBE narcissa (who is usually older than him by enough that she's already graduated from hogwarts), and james (JEGULUS)

there is absolutely no way that the entire house of slytherin was a complete monolith of asshole death eaters And Then Regulus, and personally i find it very dull as a narrative choice - even if it's a house full of asshole death eaters, regulus has been living with these people since the age of eleven. he's on a sports team. he has friends.

but i think frequently the reason he doesn't is because that makes it easy for him to be a damsel in distress who gets saved, insert jegulus, and when regulus gets swooped out of that Horrible Nasty Dungeon Full Of Slytherins, it doesn't leave any inconvenient loose ends, because he doesn't have any personal connections. the marauders (primarily sirius and james) never have to learn how to interact with regulus's friends. they can comfortably continue to be super anti-slytherin because regulus isn't 'like the rest of them,' so he's not REEEEEALLY a slytherin :)

(and regulus not being friends with any of the Asshole Death Eaters also conveniently makes him a very Pure character who has only ever been a victim and doesn't introduce any complex or nuanced moral questions to the narrative)

in general i just really hate when regulus is treated as an appendage of one of the marauders, and it happens all the time. that was a big driving force behind writing ttdl in the first place. i'm tired of regulus getting saved sjflsghjsgjkdhkjsf and i'm tired of him just being characterized however is convenient to the marauders

and i do STRONGLY BELIEVE that regulus had friends. maybe he wasn't ✨super popular✨ like ✨sirius and james✨ but like?? that's not a requirement to have friends???

and the slytherin quidditch team is a SLYTHERIN. TEAM. they are going to be both aggressively competitive (regarding the other teams) and AGGRESSIVELY TEAM-ORIENTED (because that's how you fucking wIN). ambition does not mean 'everyone for themself' (we don't have time to get into That canon theme) and IF SOMEONE DOESN'T PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS, THEY ARE HURTING SLYTHERIN'S CHANCES AT WINNING. IT IS A TEAM SPORT.

and like!! they have early morning practices together!! they eat breakfast together because Nobody Else Is Awake!! they work together and they respond viciously if one of them gets hurt and they have BONDED. regulus thinks of himself as being a little bit isolated from the rest of the team but that is the result of HIS OWN ISSUES WITH SELF WORTH and *REGARDLESS* OF THAT, HE STILL IS PERFECTLY AWARE THAT THEY'RE ALL FRIENDS

plus regulus is so much more fun with friends. he needs an outlet for all that drama. he wrote an incredibly elegant 'fuck you' note in a fake locket that he bothered to stash in the basin - LIKE???? HE COULD HAVE JUST TAKEN THE REAL LOCKET AND BLOWN UP THE CAVE???????

and i love regulus being best friends with barty because barty is similarly dramatic and they make the best team. especially when it comes to taking down people they hate. i LOVE the idea of them meeting in first year and both of them immediately going 'ok. mine now' and they are just choosing each other relentlessly from the beginning - and i ESPECIALLY love it because of the difference in their backgrounds, which makes them complete opposites on the surface but the same underneath (which i am a huge fan of as a character dynamic in general alghksgjhkjsdkf, you can see it all over the place in ttdl)

anyway im a huge proponent of 'give regulus his own life instead of just putting him in convenient stasis until the marauders show up.' even if you DO intend to have him sort of merge with the marauders and end up in a relationship with james, it'll be so much more interesting if regulus has his own history and social circle that the marauders have to reckon with, and it puts him on much more equal footing in that relationship, instead of just having it be 'savior/saved'
