So how does Meph go from Jonah to Mephisto?
OFHHHG OC QUESTIONS... ON MY TUMBLR ACCOUNT....
BUT OKAY lemme try to summarize ! Since this is a fan character, there might be bits of game lore that will be harder to explain, but hopefully this makes sense </3 big ramble under cut !
Tl;dr: Jonah was a factory worker who worked really hard and wanted to change the world, and then the world pummeled him to the ground ! He got so mad about this that he decided to become a cyborg about it (joking)
Jonah Caede was an extremely diligent factory worker at Hyperion (tldr of this company: it sucks ass and is lead by a egotistical space fascist) as a gun assembler. He lived an honest life at Pandora the best he could, and was quite the character considering all the horrible conditions he was under: Always very charismatic and positive, a real ray o' sunshine amidst all the violence on the wastelands. He always thought that, through a lot of work and dedication, he could change the place for the better.
Sure it was [extremely, horribly] rough around the edges, but all it needed was some dedication ! He lived in the planet for so long, and he just wants to see it be valued for something. He doesn't exactly like Hyperion's planning, or even respect the CEO very much, but if it helps the place he's willing to put personal bias aside.
[He was blinded with propaganda inside the factory and genuinely believed that this was the best course of action, he didn't know anything about the whole "murdering pretty much every pandoran no matter how innocent because CEO is a Space Fascist" thing]
Jonah had a brother called Archer, who thought he genuinely lost his mind chasing this ridiculous dream of "helping" this nowhere planet. Archer was a business man out in the system, and also extremely rich, so the idea that Jonah genuinely enjoyed living someplace so dangerous and so genuinely putrid made him so mad. He saw his brother get injured like a bajillion times (in which he had to help him pay for the expenses every time because Jonah Would Not be able to afford healthcare otherwise), and then saw him go right back anyway. He thought it was insane, and he tried talking him out of this shitty ideal world he lived in like several times, but it never seemed to work. Jonah was naive in his eyes. A real sheep that prayed for a better world that could not possibly exist. And at some point, they cut ties because of it.
Jonah was upset sure, but he didn't have time to be sad about it. He was working a lot of shifts, rising from rank to rank, promotion to promotion, even if it did kinda fuck him up. It was worth it, because at some point, he was manager of a whole factory. Not just a gun assembler, but a whole robotics chief engineer.
Wasn't easy, obviously– He gave up like half his life just to work– But it paid off well. It was not only safer work, but it paid so much better he could finally afford to relax. It gave him the opportunity to help the people around him like he always wanted too ! The factory got upgraded, wages were raised, there were plans on unionizing the workers, there were even whole city plans ! So, so many plans ! So many lives that he had the opportunity to help !
And then, it all came crashing down.
At some point, Archer came back.
Archer told the Higher Ups everything about Jonah, about his idiocy, how he's insane, how he has all these plans for the planet. To make it "better". Higher Ups obviously didnt like that much, as the plan was never to "make the planet residents' lives better" as much as it was "exploit the planet as hard as possible until it dies". They brought it up to the CEO, and he was MAD about it. So mad in fact he told people to go and kill him ! Ivan got paid a large sum of money, and Jonah was taken out by bandits to be executed badly.
[CW FOR A LOT OF VIOLENCE.]
.
.
.
The plan was to cut his limbs all off ! And they almost did ! They got his other leg, and the arm, and some fingers. But for some miracle, something happened that allowed him to live. That same power that let him live for that long made it so that somehow, all the people around him dropped dead after one big flash.
Afterwards was a big blur. He doesn't know if he passed out and woke up cloned*, but everything still hurt. It was so unfair, and for what ? All he ever did in his life was try to help people and then he (pretty literally) died trying. Regardless, he made one last effort, and with the little energy he had he got teleported back to his house. And just guess what ? It was also just fucking gone. Blown up, presumably. And with his family nowhere to be found. He found a recording from Mel that was basically detailing how Hyperion showed up and was forcing them to get out, and how she was scared, how their children were scared. He never found out if they died, and just kinda was left there on his own.
So what then ? He didn't have anywhere to go. He couldn't go home, it didn't exist anymore.
[* In this world it's an option for people to get their bodies registered in a machine and then digicloned to their last "stop" basically]
From that day, Jonah kinda died. He didnt get the name "Mephisto" until some time later, but his old self was dead and buried beneath rubble. But at some point, something else came out of that grave and it was out for BLOOD.
Andddd im gonna leave it off there ! That's the story ! Jonah has a terrible no good awful time and then comes back wrong after !!! Yay !!!!!

Good news! After doing the maths, I realised I could lower the prices even further-
So, yes. Moving from etsy to Ko-fi... messy. And I was (am) really nervous about losing all my good ratings and reviews (though they are still visible if you look at my etsy page, I think?), making no sells at all, etc... and yes that is still a worry.
However. After taking a closer look at the numbers once I made a sale and seeing that the cut paypal takes is slightly smaller than I anticipated, I have now lowered the prices :)
(I also want to point out that the shipping fee is per order, NOT per item.)
