VLD S8E5: The Grudge
Season 8 Episode 5: The Grudge
Transcript by @dragonofyang
Summary: The Paladins and the crew of the Atlas arrange to rendezvous to discuss how the Altean robeasts are able to wormhole and the destruction of Olkarion. Acxa and the Atlas crew are still getting used to one another.
[Google Doc]
Iverson: Who’s a good girl? You are. I used to have a dog like this years ago. Old Sally would follow me just about everywhere I went. I couldn’t turn around without her being there, smiling her big, drooly smile, which was actually a problem sometimes. I once tripped over her, slipped on her drool, and went shoulder-first into the refrigerator. Yeah, and that’s where this clicking came from.
Veronica: Is that why you were struggling with the pull-ups, sir?
Iverson: No, that’s because I’m old and overweight. And watch your insubordination.
Veronica: Yes, sir!
Curtis: Was the dog alright?
Iverson: She was fine, thank goodness. Yeah, that dog meant the world to me.
Veronica: I know how you feel. My brothers and sisters adopted every stray animal they could find. There was this one cat, “Flash” we called him. He hated everybody except me. Smart cat.
Curtis: What about you, Acxa? Did you have pets where you’re from?
Acxa: I never had a creature companion, but one of my partners, Narti, was bonded to an immortal cat named Kova. That cat gave her the ability to experience the world.
Curtis: Oh. That’s great.
Acxa: Until Lotor killed Narti and we had to abandon the animal on our destroyed ship so we could escape without being tracked.
Shiro, on PA: Crew, report to the bridge immediately.
[Cut to Iverson, Coran, Curtis, and Veronica entering the bridge.]
Shiro: I’ve got an incoming transmission from the paladins. Go ahead, Allura.
Allura: Atlas, we’ve managed to track down an Altean robeast.
Coran: You found one!
Shiro: Where is it? Did you engage the creature?
Allura: Unfortunately, we were too late. It attacked the Olkari and stole the remains of the weaponized cube.
Coran: Is Olkarion okay?
Keith: No. Olkarion is gone.
Coran: No.
Allura: The loss of Olkarion is devastating to us all, but we were able to acquire some vital information.
Keith: We learned from Olkarion that the robeasts have been traveling via wormhole, which leave behind unique energy signatures. Pidge created a program that can identify those signatures and pinpoint their exact locations.
Allura: We’re sending over the readings from Pidge’s program now.
Coran: Are you telling us these are all robeasts?
Pidge: We’re not positive, but they could be.
Allura: There’s more. After studying the map, we noticed the signatures all radiate from a single epicenter: Oriande.
Coran: Wait, so Honerva could be on Oriande? But I thought only worthy Alteans could get there. Could she have the Mark of the Chosen?
Keith: There’s a lot we don’t know. We need to rendezvous to come up with a plan.
Coran: The Baltuf Nebula would make a good rendezvous point for both of us.
Keith: Send us the coordinates, Coran. See you soon.
[Scene transition to the mess hall.]
Veronica: Acxa! Come join us. So, how did you meet the paladins?
Acxa: I met Keith when I was stuck in the third stomach of a Weblum. He saved my life.
Rizavi: What were you doing in a… stomach?
Acxa: Gathering scaultrite to help enable Lotor to conquer the universe.
Rizavi: I once got stuck in a ball pit when I was a kid.
Veronica: Well, what do you think of the crew? It must be a pretty different dynamic being that we don’t try to kill each other, huh?
Acxa: I suppose, but the Galra had an expression: “Combat is the searing light that burns away imperfections.”
Ina: It would appear the mood at this table has become rather awkward. Most likely due to your Galra lineage. Yep. Definitely… awkward.
[Cut to Shiro in the bridge.]
Keith: Atlas, we had some technical difficulties. We’ll be delayed.
Shiro: Copy that. How long?
Keith: We’re still assessing that. Might be a few hours. We’ll keep you updated.
Shiro: Roger that.
[Scene change to the lions approaching a black and red planet.]
Pidge: Coming up on rendezvous point, straight ahead.
Hunk: Anyone else find it odd that Shiro changed the rendezvous point to this place?
Pidge: I’m reading high CO2 and low oxygen in the atmosphere. We’ll need our suits to breathe if we go out there.
Hunk: I’m not going out there.
Keith: They’re here. Atlas, we have a visual. Paladins, get airborne immediately! This is a trap!
Hunk: It’s just like when we were caught by those pirates!
Lance: We’re about to be captured again!
Keith: Emergency ejection!
Allura: Atlas, come in!
Keith: Atlas, we’re under heavy fire!
Pidge: The Atlas isn’t receiving our communications!
Hunk: The beam has the Lions pinned.
Allura: We must have been set up. But by whom?
Pidge: Guys, we have incoming. It’s closing fast.
Hunk: We need to lose it!
Lance: Isn’t there anything we can do to throw it off our scent?
Pidge: Yeah, I’ve got an idea, but I need a minute.
Hunk: I’ll buy you some time.
Pidge: Got it. It shouldn’t be able to detect us anymore.
Lance: Then let’s get out of here!
Hunk: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
Keith: I need something to draw its attention!
Allura: I’ve got it!
Lance: Huh, good job, Keith. I mean, I was just about to do that, too, but that’s cool.
Pidge: I might be able to hack into it.
[Scene transition to the Paladins gathered around the drone.]
Pidge: This is Galra tech, but it looks like it’s been infused with Olkari elements. The subatomic microfilament is single modulated before it goes through its attenuator. Wow!
Hunk: So, it’s pretty amazing, huh?
Pidge: Yeah.
Hunk: Oh, look at that, it’s single modulated, not double modulated. Huh.
Pidge: Oh, shut up, Hunk! This thing has been locking onto our key encryption protocol that’s built into our suits and bayards.
Keith: How did they get that?
Pidge: I don’t know. Only a genius could do it.
Lance: Can’t we just turn our suits off?
Pidge: Negative. And if the drone had our encryption protocol, then so does that cruiser and anyone on it. If we want to avoid detection, we need to lose our suits and our bayards.
Allura: Remove our armor? In this place?
Hunk: Has anyone read the atmosphere? Oxygen low, CO2 high. We’re not gonna last long, a few hours, tops. We need our suits to survive.
Keith: Yeah, at this point, we’ll survive longer without them.
Lance: So keep our suits on and risk getting blasted, or take our suits off and live long enough before dying from poisoned air.
[Scene transition to the Galra ship hovering over the planet.]
Olkari Technician: Sending you the drone’s last known coordinates now.
Captain: We’re going after them.
Fentress: Why would we do that? It’ll risk the entire operation. We already have the Lions. The paladins have no value.
Captain: They do to me. We’re going in.
Fentress: But we--
Captain: I am the captain, and my authority will not be questioned! You do as I say, or you will spend the rest of your miserable days right here on this planet. Is that understood?
Fentress: Yes, captain.
Captain: Do not let those lions move. No one takes them until the hunt is over.
Olkari Technician: Yes, captain.
Captain: And make sure the Atlas stays put.
Olkari Technician: Copy that.
Shiro: Keith, any updates on your ETA?
Olkari Technician (as Keith): We’re finishing some repairs and about to get underway. We’ll update our ETA when we’re en route.
[Scene change to a shooting range on the IGF-Atlas.]
Acxa: I know you have little trust for me, but your constant presence is tiresome. If you have a problem, let’s end it now.
Veronica: Acxa, it’s not that I don’t trust you.
Acxa: Then what is it?
Veronica: Honestly, I just wanted to get to know you.
Acxa: By sneaking up on me at a firing range?
Veronica: I didn’t sneak up on you.
Acxa: Only because I’m always aware of my surroundings.
Veronica: Look, I’m sorry that I may have been following you around. It just seems like you could use a friend. I know it can be hard to fit in sometimes.
Acxa: I’ve spent my entire life not fitting in. I’m used to it.
Veronica: Right.
Acxa: I was an outcast, born and bred in war. The only way I survived was to become worse than my enemies.
Veronica: I don’t care about what you may have done in your past. I know there’s more to you than that.
Acxa: But some people only see Galra, and I understand why. Sometimes even I question if my people have the ability to change.
Veronica: By choosing to join the coalition, you’re living proof that it is possible. I guess I wanna get to know the Acxa who turned her life around. I have a feeling everyone would like that person.
[Scene change to the volcanic planet.]
Hawkins: They’ve abandoned their suits. Now how are we gonna track them?
Bounty Hunter: We hunt them the old-fashioned way.
[Scene change to the Paladins walking in their undersuits.]
Pidge: Are we sure the Lions are this way?
Hunk: Every direction looks the same.
Pidge: Oh, what I’d give for a GPS right now.
Allura: We cannot allow ourselves to panic. Clearly, we’ve relied on our tech far too much. We need to focus if we’re going to get out of here. Okay, I’m lost.
Hunk: What do we do?
Lance: Our Lions are that way.
Pidge: How do you know? Do you have a scanner you’ve been hiding?
Lance: No, I just looked at the volcano. It was on our left when we came in, so I put it to our right side, and that’s the way out.
Allura: You’re a genius!
Hunk: Oh, snap. Well done, Lance.
Pidge: Uh, well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Lance: Hey!
Pidge: Ah!
Allura: More drones?
Lance: No, look!
Bounty Hunter: They’ve split up. Stay on their trail. Get them!
[Cut to the Captain and Fentress.]
Hawkins: We’re on the trail of four of the Paladins right now.
Captain: Which four?
Hawkins: The Altean, the big one, the tiny one, and the loud one. They removed their armor to throw us off their scent, but we’ll have them soon.
Captain: Good. The one I really want is this way.
[Scene change to the IGF-Atlas bridge.]
Olkari Technician (as Keith): Apologies for the delay. We experienced a glitch in navigation. I will have to get back to you.
Veronica: Everything okay out there, Keith? Do you need help from the Atlas?
Olkari Technician (as Keith): No assistance required, thank you. Lance will figure it out.
Veronica: Right, Lance, the navigation genius.
Keith: Affirmative.
Veronica: How long have they been delayed?
Iverson: They should have arrived when we did.
Acxa: Something doesn’t seem right.
Curtis: Look at this. It looks like their frequency has been pinging off a decoy. I’m intercepting it now.
Paladins, overlapping: Atlas! This is an emergency! Atlas, come in! Atlas, help! We’re under attack! It was a trap!
Iverson: We need all hands on deck immediately!
[Scene change to Keith jet-packing along the volcanic planet, then the Bounty Hunter and Hawkins as they chase Hunk and Pidge.]
Bounty Hunter: You think I forgot about you, tiny Paladin? I’ll make you pay for what you did to me!
Hunk: We need to hurry. They’re right behind us.
Pidge: The CO2 is poisoning us by the minute, and we don’t know where we’re going. We can’t keep running.
Hunk: Okay. What do we do?
Pidge: We have to make a stand.
Bounty Hunter: Your brother isn’t here to help you this time. And I’ve upgraded since we last met.
Hunk: Woah! Alright, nice work!
Pidge: Found the Lions. This way.
[Scene change to Allura and Lance running through a cave.]
Lance: Okay, if my volcano logic is correct… the Lions should be on the other side of this--[grunts] Allura, get out of here. Go!
Pirate: Looks like she left.
Pirate 2: Don’t worry, we’ll find her for you.
Lance: Thanks.
Allura: The Atlas!
[Cut to the IGF-Atlas bridge.]
Veronica: That’s where the ghost protocol is emanating from.
Shiro: Hit them with the electromagnetic pulse.
[Cut to the Captain and Fentress walking in the forest.]
Fentress: Squadron Z, come in. Squadron Echo, come in. HQ, come in. HQ is not responding and the other pirates are offline. I never signed up for this!
Captain: Well, you’re in it now.
[Scene change to the loading dock on the IGF-Atlas.]
Olkari Technician: Sophisticated hacking and jamming abilities. Impressive. It’s nice to find others on my level.
Shiro: Yeah, it’s terrific. Now where’s your leader?
Olkari Technician: I don’t know. I lost her signal when you attacked. But she’s out there somewhere, hunting down the Paladin you call “Keith.”
Acxa: And who exactly is your leader?
[Scene change as Fentress gets surprised by Keith, who then stumbles into the Captain.]
Keith: Zethrid?
Zethrid: You took Ezor from me!
Keith: I don’t know what you think I did.
Zethrid: You took away everything. And now my face will be the last one you see!
James: Does anyone have the shot?
Rizavi: It’s too risky!
Acxa: Zethrid, don’t do this!
Zethrid: I knew you’d come. Now you will feel what I felt.
Acxa: It’s over. You’re surrounded.
Zethrid: You think this deters me, Acxa? I welcome death now that Ezor’s gone.
Acxa: Zethrid, I know you hurt. Ezor hurt, too. That’s why she left you. She couldn’t keep holding onto the anger.
Zethrid: Stop!
Acxa: Hear my words. Remember how we first met. We were all so full of hate and rage, half-breeds rejected by the Galra. Lotor used us. He led us down a painful path, a never-ending cycle of destruction and loss. Now’s your chance to break that cycle… with me, with Ezor. She wants you to leave the rage behind.
Zethrid: I’m too far gone. She’ll never take me back!
Acxa: Wait! Please! Don’t let the rage control you.
Zethrid: All I have left… is revenge!
[Scene change to a holding cell on the IGF-Atlas, where Zethrid and the Olkari Technician reside.]
Zethrid: You waste your time, Acxa.
Acxa: I know you’re angry, but I refuse to give up on you. And I know someone else feels the same way.
End.

No, it’s not just because the guy is hot ... and other BS about a female fan base (Looking at you Veronica Mars and Shadowhunters)
So, I suck at Tumblr.  I changed my name and suddenly all of my links are broken.  A friend asked me to repost this when she could not find it, so apologies for round 2.
I wrote recently about how filtering female characters through the male gaze can cause a project’s “center of gravity” to shift away from the agency and autonomy of female characters. This is how we end up w/ stories where women are there (narratively) to be pretty arm candy, or objects of sexual desire, or romantic partners (half a ship) vs characters who shape their own romantic and life choices. This is how we get female characters subjected to endless, pointless pain and trauma — usually sexual assault/ rape narratives (GoT, Veronica Mars). Or female characters who sacrifice endlessly and forgive every transgression, so that a man can be redeemed/ understood/ forgiven. (Why else would Buffy forgive Spike?) As I said, I don’t think every silly, guilty pleasure TV show or movie has to be a feminist icon story. Men can tell good stories about women. And give me flawed, complicated, nuanced characters and relationships any and every day of the week. I prefer truthful storytelling, not a kind of hagiography w/a side of feminism for my female characters.
Still, I had to just shake my head — after gagging on my coffee — when I saw the recent TV Line article quoting a senior executive at HULU as saying that the negative reaction to the ending of S4 Veronica Mars was A-O-K b/c it was a testament to how much people love the show. And, that the end was all part of RT’s super-well-thought-grand-plan to make VM into a noir detective show where Veronica solves random mysteries in random places and has no friends, no family, no relationships — having been an asshole to everyone in S4. Never mind S4 Veronica’s questionable detective skills, as evidenced by her failure to figure out who was behind the bombings until it was too late. Yeah. Whatever.
Of course, I didn’t stop at the article. I had to look at the comments. The official RT fanboy line appears to be that people who hated the ending are basically weak, stupid (heterosexual, I guess) girls who are upset that we won’t get to look at Jason D’s abs anymore. Apparently, we just don’t understand RT’s art and vision. Sad, really.
And so it goes. Once again, female fans are reduced to unthinking, stupid, crying hordes upset when we don’t get our happily-ever-after.
This is such complete and total bullshit. I hated all of S4 Veronica. VM in S4 is an unrecognizable asshole. She mocks Logan for seeking help for his PTSD. She misses or ignores her dad’s health crisis. She’s casually racist. She randomly uses drugs w/ strangers. She’s terrible to her friends (Weevil). And she’s the worst detective ever. Killing Logan off as some kind of suffer porn for VM was just one more piece of the shitty story telling that was S4. Especially since there was zero narrative explanation of how or why smart, gritty teenager Veronica fell into the abyss of self-loathing, self-absorption and cruelty that defines her in S4.
To my mind, though, the mansplaining from HULU, RT and crew is one of many examples of how Hollywood dismisses female fans along with female characters. In addition to Veronica Mars, I’ve written about how Shadowhunters TV betrayed both its female characters and many of its female fans. And, just as happened w/ Veronica Mars, when people objected, the show runners and their shills told us that we didn’t understand the showrunners’ art or storytelling; that we were upset bc not all of the couples got a wedding, that fan fiction could sort out the narrative mess left after the finale. As if completely sidelining the protagonist and her romantic partner, then tacking on a rom com meet cute at the end, made it all ok.
It wasn’t OK. It was BS. And, depressingly, not a surprise when one examines how the show treated its female characters and fan base all along.
- Cassie Clare, the author behind the six book series, has hinted on her Tumblr blog that from the very beginning, the male producers and show runners behind the TV adaption did not value her heavily female fan base. The show even added a lot of computers/ tech (explicitly NOT canon in the Shadowhunters universe), and made a character a police officer (not a bookstore owner) when it launched to attract an older male audience according to Clare. (Apart from the non-canon aspect of computers, stereotyping much on who likes tech?).
More importantly, the storytelling around female characters, and the treatment of their sexuality, showed the lack of regard the show had for female characters and their fans. Where to even start:
- The show aged-up the characters — which I am totally on board with — but then cast an actor who is only six years older than Matt D. (he played Alec) to play Mayrse, Alec’s (and Izzy and Jace’s adoptive) mother. 6 years!?! There are plenty of skilled, age appropriate performers one could have picked. Don’t tell me that casting decision was the product of anything other than the male gaze.
- Book Mayrse is a complicated and not always likeable character. Totally cool. Show Mayrse exists in S1 of SHTV for the sole purpose of being bigoted and homophobic re Alec (with a side of slut-shaming for her daughter Izzy). Then, in S3, she exists solely to punished (w/ a random de-rune-ing) and then redeemed for her homophobia by becoming “captain of the Malec ship.” S3 Mayrse seems to be entirely unaware that she has other children. Not Izzy. And not depressed, and suicidal Jace. A more richly observed character who is a mother would not act this way.
-Book Izzy is sexy and body positive. And a formidable warrior. Awesome. Show Izzy is often reduced to slutty eye candy in S1. She’s turned into a drug addict in S2. And, then, in S3 and the finale, she’s charged w caretaking duties for Jace (bc the show ignored the parabatai bond bw Alec and Jace and Mayrse was absent, as noted above). And, in the climactic fight scene, she’s disarmed by Clary (who had been training for a couple of months at that point) and needs to be saved by Simon, her non-Shadowhunter soon to be boyfriend. Simon is hugely heroic in the books, as is Clary, but their heroism is not at the expense of, or in place of, Izzy’s strength and heroism. (Or, maybe it’s that show Simon saves show Izzy from show Clary that’s the problem: book Izzy would not have been bested by Clary, book Clary never would have attacked her friends and chosen family, and the dark Clary made zero narrative/ emotional sense.
- Clary, the protagonist, is wholly sidelined in 3B and the finale. I won’t go down this rabbithole again, except to say that the show’s decision to strip Clary of her entire narrative arc — her mother, her father figure, her memories, her magic, her identity her chosen family, and her love — deeply, deeply betrayed the character and her fans.
- And, as I’ve written before, the dark Clary storyline seemed more about putting Kat M. In sexy clothes and having her act in a sexually aggressive way toward Jace (let’s call it what it was - the show hinted that she went down on Jace in a club while Jace was distraught over losing Clary and basically roofied) (bc sexually aggressive women are either slutty or evil on SHTV, I guess.). It made no sense.
-The whole Climon storyline was cringe worthy, and her weird shame-y commentary on Jace’s past sex life made no sense either.
- Maia hooking up w/ Jace behind a bar, and forgiving her attacker.
The list goes on and on.
I am sick and tired of Hollywood reducing female characters and female fans to unsophisticated, silly, shallow people looking only for the love of a (generally straight white) man. I am sick of shows sacrificing female characters and their fans to tell stories about other characters, even when those stories are worthy. (We shouldn’t have had to choose between, say, Magnus, Alec and Malec, and Clary, Jace and Clace.). I am sick of characters and fans serving as a mirror or vehicle for other characters’ stories.
Female fans watch TV. We buy movie tickets. We participate in fandoms. Stop telling us that we should be content w/ scraps from the storytelling table.

27 Ways to Get Over a Breakup, Like, Right Now
Going through a breakup is low-key the best time to rebrand yourself. You can be whoever you want to be, do whatever you want to do, and try anything you want to try without having to consider anyone but yourself.
But considering breakups = losing someone who was consistently in your life, it can be easy to dwell on the past instead of looking at what your future self can bring to the table. Completely understandable.
This content is imported from {embed-name}. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.
So to help you cope with all things breakup (since, hi, your future best self is waiting), we’ve sourced a bunch of tangible, practical ways you can actually get over someone according to experts who want to help. Because yes, sometimes buying yourself flowers at the grocery store is a lil start.
Sex Expert Reacts to Iconic Sex Scenes on RIOT TV
How You Get Over a Breakup, by Zodiac Sign
1. Shower daily. I know this seems small, but trust, it makes all the difference. “Prioritizing your hygiene and taking pride in how you look can often make you feel better inside,” says licensed clinical psychologist Kristie Norwood. So get yourself a morning and nighttime routine that requires a rinse in the shower. After all, shower thoughts are the best kind of thoughts, and it might be super therapeutic. Small wins are the best wins.
2. Create a vision board. Yup, it’s time to paint a badass picture of what your future is about to look like. (Time to get on that manifesting kick). “After breakups, it’s important to figure out what your life will look like without the relationship as it was,” says Norwood. So pick up some magazines—yes, full permission to grab some Cosmos— and cut out images that you put into art your life goals and desires.
3. Treat yourself to a new sex toy. Luckily for you, vibrators come completely drama-free (and in some cases, are better than the real deal). “Cleanse yourself of any negative energy through an orgasm,” says sex educator Yael Rosenstock Gonzalez. An orgasm a day keeps the doctor away (...that’s the saying, right?).
4. Go to therapy It’s time to make an appointment for therapy, suggests licensed clinical social worker Amalia Miralrío. Especially considering an unbiased perspective could offer you insight that you weren’t able to process yourself. Get started with some free options here.
Benefits of the No Contact Rule Post-Breakup
5. Buy yourself a big bouquet of pink roses. Put them in a vase, water them, and wait for them to wilt. When it’s time to throw them out, check in with your feelings. Guess what? By the time those roses die, you’ll already feel better. Then, keep buying yourself roses, recommends Veronica Yip, a San Diego resident who swears by this hack.
6. Visit a rage room. It’s…a legit thing. “Get out all your anger and smash objects to your heart’s content,” recommends Lauren Cook, who holds a master’s in marriage and family therapy.
7. Go on that vacation you’ve been dying to—even if it’s by yourself. “Getting away to an exotic location or somewhere peaceful is a potent source of distraction,” says therapist Rev. Sheri Heller. What’s better than lounging beachside with a good book, frozen drank, and the ocean waves? Talk about self-care.

8. Rearrange your home. Get rid of all those bad memories. “A new look creates space for new memories. Out with the old, inviting the new,” recommends Krysta Monet creator and founder of The Feminine Truth.
9. Purge your relationship junk drawer. Yes, this includes that ticket stub you’ve kept from your first date. “You don’t need the reminders of a relationship that is no longer,” says Robyn Koenig, professional dating coach and CEO at Rare Find.

10. Write hate mail to your ex. But don’t actually send it (and tell your sister not to either, à la Lara Jean). “The caveat is not to mail the letter but to do a ceremonial burning to get rid of the toxic energy,” recommends Samantha Gregory, author of No More Crumbs: How to Stop Dating for Crumbs and Get the Cake You Finally Deserve.

11. Say yes to everything. “This is especially useful if you’ve been in a long-term relationship where you’ve compromised and negotiated what you ate, where you went, what you watched, and who you socialized with,” says Trish McDermott, CEO of Meetopolis Dating. “Who are you and what makes just *you* happy? Now is the time to find out.”
12. Eat alone. Whether you take yourself out to your favorite Thai place or make a home-cooked dinner, sit at the table and eat in silence. “Becoming comfortable with newly found silence is part of the recovery process,” says Megan Cannon, owner of Back to Balance Counseling.
13. Sign up for a boxing class—or any other type of fighting class. “Sometimes you need to find an outlet to divert the negative energies you get after a breakup,” says Celia Schweyer, dating and relationship expert at DatingScout. Trust, punching the eff out of something will *def* help with this added stress.

14. Block them from your Instagram/Snapchat. If the temptation to see if they’ve been paying attention to your Stories is too much, just block them. This way, when you do start to get out there and share your day-to-day activities again, you’ll know there’s zero part of you that’s performatively “acting over it” in the hopes your ex will see it.
15. Don’t shit-talk your ex too much. Sure, it feels good to trash-talk your ex with your besties, and hearing that you were better than them from the start feels like a drug, but don’t rely on it. Hearing your friends bring down someone who made you feel shitty feels like it should be justified in the grand karmic scheme of things, but your health and happiness need not be contingent on someone else’s pain and suffering.
16. Don’t immediately suggest to “stay friends”—and if they do, tell them you need to think about it. This is an impulse because you don’t want to seem like you care too much about the breakup. Because you’re so chill. You’re so chill that your heart isn’t beating. Aaand, you’re dead. But truthfully, during this stilted, awkward breaking-up period, it’s hard to tell whether you’ll be able to be friends. Generally, one person wants to be friends and the other wants to be more. Gotta work that shit out before it can be a healthy friendship…if it ever can be. You’re not admitting defeat by not staying friends with them.

6 Ways to Know You're Actually Ready to Date Again
17. Spend a lot of time outside. It’s a cliché, but fresh air really does clear your head. So does, you know, seeing the sun every once in a while. Take at least two hours from each day just to leave your Cave of Forgotten Dreams and interact with The Outside.
18. Know it’s okay to rely on your friends. Breakups can make even the strongest people feel like they’re worthless or not good enough. Hang out with people who appreciate you and remind you of what a good person you are. “This is when having a strong support network is essential because friends can show you that you still matter and that you still belong,” Burns says. “When your self-esteem is at an all-time low, these are the people who can help empower you while you work on defining your own self-worth.”

19. Eat your night cheese. Yep, you have full permission to pull a Liz Lemon and work on your night cheese during a breakup. Fran Walfish, PsyD, a Beverly Hills–based psychotherapist and relationship expert, says that drinking milk or eating turkey, cheese, yogurt, or ice cream before bed can calm you down due to the ingredient tryptophan—a natural calming agent that relaxes you without medication.
20. Rebound with one incredibly hot suitor, if that’s what you want, and then give yourself some time to decompress and remember who you are. If you’ve had one rebound, you’ve had them all, in this woman’s opinion.

21. If you start dating someone else, take it really slow. Dude. You just ended a relationship and your heart flipped over and exploded like a tanker in a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie. If you take it step-by-step and enjoy it as a casual thing for a while, that’ll give you some time to evaluate whether you’re actually ready to be with someone again or if you’re just ready to have really hot sex with them in an elevator once in a while.

22. Establish a bedtime routine. When you’re going through a breakup, learning to be proud of the little things can really keep you going. And honestly, what screams “I have my shit together” more than getting enough sleep every night? Walfish recommends going to bed at the same time and setting your alarm for the same time every day. Avoid looking at screens (TV, computer, cell phone) for half an hour before bed. Not only does the light from screens keep you awake, but how many times has some unexpected drama on the timeline or an innocent Instagram scroll accidentally spiraled into a two-hour deep-dive of their life?
23. If you get a Facebook invite to their best friend’s party...stay home, put on a face mask, eat Chinese food, and watch Stranger Things. Going to that party still makes it all about your ex—not your emotional well-being. And seeing them will just pick open the scab.
24. Don’t scheme to get them back, scheme to get yourself back. Get some solid book recs, join a pickup sports game, go on a trip somewhere with a girlfriend. Paint your bathroom—I don’t care. Just do something for yourself.

25. Avoid posting the details on Facebook. Or Twitter. Or Instagram. Or Tumblr. Live ya life! Airing your grievances on social media is not good for anyone, and it’ll be embarrassing later. Who’s gonna read it, anyway? Aunt Maggie? That girl you met during Welcome Week?
26. Take baths. Baths are half wallowing and half cleansing/pampering and thus are perfect for breakups. When’s the last time you really filled up your tub (clean it first, please) and had a good soak with a glass (bottle) of wine? Showers are not for the recently dumped.
27. Stop blaming yourself and thinking things like, If only I had watched more Bourne movies/had dyed my hair blonde/had given more rim jobs/were cooler. It takes two to tango.

Riverdale Couples and Ships as Romantic Tropes (Part II). 🌹
Tumblr media
Here is Part II of the list!
#11. Bughead (Jughead Jones & Betty Cooper; ROMANTIC TROPE: CHILDHOOD FRIENDS ROMANCE)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Childhood Friend Romance
Childhood Friend Romance is a part of romantic plots, when characters develop romantic feelings for someone who they spent their childhood years with. Often the pair will see each other as Just Friends (and may even deny accusations that they might have a different type of relationship); then, when puberty hits or when they meet again after being apart for some time, they will realize that the other is all grown up. If the pair goes through a Puppy Love phase from the very beginning, a Childhood Marriage Promise may be involved. Resistance to see a childhood friend as a potential romantic partner is known as the "Westermarck effect", a theory that claims that people who grew up together before the age of 6 are likely to become hardwired to think about each other Like Brother and Sister, with a Stupid Sexy Friend squicked reaction to the notion of romance. (Other studies question this on the basis that though few of the people they examined had major romantic relationships with childhood friends, many had crushes and romantic feelings that just didn't make it.) Subtrope of Childhood Friends. See also Patient Childhood Love Interest, a subtrope common in Harem Series. Compare also with High-School Sweethearts. Often benefits from First Girl Wins.
#10. Veggie (Reggie Mantle & Veronica Lodge; ROMANTIC TROPE: SLAP-SLAP-KISS)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Slap-Slap-Kiss
"[Punches Hiccup on the arm] That was for kidnapping me. [Kisses him on the cheek] That was for everything else."— Astrid, How to Train Your Dragon
This trope is nothing but universal in romantic stories. It frequently brings to a close the Will They or Won't They? phase of a Romance Arc. When a male and female character spend a lot of time bickering, it is all but inevitable that sooner or later he will interrupt her in mid-rant by suddenly grabbing her and kissing her. (Less frequently, she grabs and kisses him.) The kissed one rarely resists, and usually responds wholeheartedly. Usually this is triggered by their hostilities reaching a climax that results in an exchange of slaps, followed by a moment where both stare at each other in combined confusion and shock, after which they dive into the kiss. Either way, the kiss prompts both to realize that they've been in love all this time — the rationale being that they wouldn't argue so much if they didn't give a damn about each other. Normally results in some kind of permanent change in their relationship. The concept is related to the theory that hate is not necessarily the opposite of love so much as its twisted twin; its opposite would be apathy. Ergo, lots of contained emotion towards a person might be translated into lust given the proper catalyst. Pulled off successfully, it can be... quite satisfying. Otherwise, not so much. This trope is a major factor in Foe Yay shipping, since such arguments between those characters in the actual shows are often similar to examples of this trope (or even get Why Don't You Marry It? reactions). It should be noted that in Real Life it's not exactly a sign of a healthy relationship, with the exception of a little roleplay between consenting adults. Note that this trope is mostly Exactly What It Says on the Tin. If there is no kiss, that's Belligerent Sexual Tension. Dating back at least to William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Compare "Shut Up" Kiss, Love at First Punch, Belligerent Sexual Tension, "Take That!" Kiss, Vitriolic Best Buds, and Destructo-Nookie. Often considered in similar terms to Foe Yay. Tsunderes are often involved on at least one end. Kiss-Kiss-Slap is this in reverse (kissing, then fighting).
#09. Jarchie (Archie Andrews & Jughead Jones; ROMANTIC TROPE: HO YAY)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HoYay
Homoeroticism, yay! Those moments of plot, dialogue, acting, etc., that fans delight in interpreting as homoerotic. It probably originates from the old days, when the homosexuality taboo was serious enough that every gay pairing was considered a Crack Pairing, so when authors wrote same-sex characters as very intimate with each other, audiences largely accepted that they are just very good friends, and moved on, or when authors wrote outright references to homosexuality, most just laughed at the sheer absurdity of the thought. With the gradual dissolution of homophobic moral codes, more and more writers have been able to publish and share their work uncensored, changing media forever. Nowadays, Yaoi Fans and Yuri Fans willingly interpret any interaction as potentially gay, for characters without canonical orientations and even for those specifically stated by their creators to be straight (in which case the author may be very annoyed by the fans' insistence otherwise). Cultural differences also have their say here. The level of accepted physical intimacy between close friends and adult relatives is hardly constant across various eras and nationalities, so, for example, the hugs and kisses which seemed mundane for an antiquated reader may appear blatantly erotic in the eyes of a contemporary one. In particular, the concept of Romantic Two-Girl Friendship — and Romantic Two-Guy Friendship — highly intimate yet platonic, only began falling out of use in the latter half of the 19th century. When this is done intentionally, it's Homoerotic Subtext, or possibly Implied Love Interest or Ship Tease. In the related trope called Foe Yay, even rivals or mortal enemies can get this treatment by fans and writers alike, especially if they have a more friendly past together, or one is inordinately obsessed with the other. In Fan Fic, this is the direct cause of many a Slash Fic.
#08. Choni (Cheryl Blossom & Toni Topaz; ROMANTIC TROPE: OPPOSITES ATTRACT)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Opposites Attract
"Strange extremes meet in love's pathway."—The Scarlet Pimpernel
Strong relationships, in both TV and real life, thrive on how each member compensates for the other’s weaknesses with their own strengths, and vice versa. A Motor Mouth just isn’t as funny if he doesn’t have the Straight Man to torment. Similarly, only when a sweet, shy person is paired up with an equally jerkish one is their kindness and shyness made all the more noticeable. It is all but guaranteed that the characters’ differences will cause more friction than harmony between them. That’s what gives the Odd Couple its fuel for Slap-Slap-Kiss, Will They or Won't They?, and Aww, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other situations. Bickering and mushiness in one package. What’s not to like? The Odd Friendship also has elements of this, but tends to focus on how the differences make them see each other, and maybe the world, through new eyes. Perhaps the serious one is Not So Above It All, or the Shrinking Violet has an inner strength they never knew they had. A Moe Couplet also does something similar to this, focusing on how each half of the couplet brings out the other's endearing or nurturing traits. Opposites attract has become so widespread in buddy cop shows, in the form of Serious White Guy meets Loud Black Guy, that it branched off into its own subtrope. About the biggest challenge in creating a day-and-night dynamic is to keep the attract and repel cases relatively balanced. When the pendulum swings too far toward the repel side and the characters seem more interested in torturing each other than helping out, it’s no longer cute to watch; it’s just masochistic. The key (both in fiction and in Real Life) is to watch the pair's goals. If they want the same thing but use completely different methods to achieve it, it's this trope. If they want different things entirely, it's a divorce waiting to happen. If you add a third-party mediator for balance, you get a Power Trio. Contrast Birds of a Feather. Compare Too Much Alike.
#07. Cheronica (Cheryl Blossom & Veronica Lodge; ROMANTIC TROPE: VILLAINOUS CRUSH)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Villainous Crush
"Just fear me. Love me. Do as I say, and I shall be your slave."— Jareth the Goblin King to Sarah, Labyrinth
This trope applies whenever a villainous character has romantic and/or sexual feelings for a heroic one. If this crush takes a turn for the perverse (and most such crushes tend towards this), this can lead to tropes like I Have You Now, My Pretty, Forceful Kiss, Bathe Her and Bring Her to Me, And Now You Must Marry Me, Scarpia Ultimatum, and Go-Go Enslavement where the villain tries to force their desires upon the character, although none of those require a Villainous Crush. Additionally, the villain may become a Stalker with a Crush. If the crush itself is a motivating factor in their Start of Darkness, then it's Love Makes You Evil. This trope isn't always negative, though. This trope can conversely be a very humanising trait for an Anti-Villain. The heroic character may become a Morality Pet, and can be fairly certain that their villainous admirer will never harm them or allow harm to come to them, barring certain exceptions. They may even step in to protect them from other villains who have fewer compunctions. Taken all the way, it may become Love Redeems. If the feelings are mutual or an actual relationship develops, then it's Dating Catwoman instead. When this is purely subtextual, see Foe Romance Subtext. The specific variant when the Evil Empress captures the hero to seduce him is Villainesses Want Heroes. Not to be confused with Foe Yay, which are purely audience reactions.
#06. Archosie (Archie Andrews & Josie McCoy; ROMANTIC TROPE: BIRDS OF A FEATHER)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Birds Of A Feather
Grace: My mum always said opposites attract. Rich: That's magnets. We're people.—Skins
Relationships, particularly romantic ones, tend to thrive when the people involved are similar. People are simply more likely to get along if they share common interests, values, beliefs, and goals. Thus people with similar personalities will often flow together easily, whether romantically or not. The dynamic of this pair differs widely from Opposites Attract pair. Their personalities can often be interchangeable and both of them can have a same role if they are a part of a group. However, their common obstacle is having a harder time to compensate for each other's weaknesses. Be warned, writers: while often Truth in Television, this trope can sometimes be seen to create a poorly written Love Interest who just happens to be a Gender Flip of the main character. When the commonalities are much fewer but still create a bond, see Commonality Connection. Contrast Too Much Alike.
#05. Beronica (Veronica Lodge & Betty Cooper; ROMANTIC TROPE: ROMANTIC TWO-GIRL FRIENDSHIP)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Romantic Two-Girl Friendship
"It was perfectly acceptable at Baker & Inglis to get a crush on a fellow classmate. At a girls school a certain amount of emotional energy, normally expended on boys, gets redirected into friendships."—Middlesex
At the beginning of adolescence, there is a time when friendship is emphasized, usually junior high/middle school. These friendships can have very strong emotional bonds, and, when two girls develop a close bond, it will almost appear to be a romance. They hold hands. Getting together to do something is a "date." Fights are treated as a "break-up." They're willing to sleep next to each other in the same bed (and maybe even cuddle). They're also sometimes capable of moving and speaking in perfect unison. They may not actually be in a romantic relationship, but it is emphasized in such a way that if they were, you'd assume it'd look this way. In the Western world, this was far more common up until the late 1800s, and applied to both men and women, even into adulthood. It was referred to as "romantic friendship." This practice waned at the turn of the 20th century as adults, particularly men, did not want to be mistaken as homosexual. Note Generally, it still only occurs between young girls, where it is more socially acceptable and not indicative of sexual orientation. In Japan, this is known as "Class S" and is far more common than in the West. Due to the influence of Western female literature,Note the Japanese developed a belief that young girls are expected to have friendships with each other that emulate boyfriend–girlfriend relationships. This is considered a temporary but wonderful part of adolescence, which they can later "graduate" from to "real" relationships with boys. To remain in a "Class S" relationship past middle school is seen as a sign of immaturity, although it is expected that these friendships will continue into adulthood without the romantic elements. The possibility of one or more of the girls involved in a "Class S" relationship being truly invested in the other romantically is usually ignored. If the romance starts to become too passionate, parents may try to intervene to separate the girls. This should never become physical that way; it would "corrupt" the Incorruptible Pure Pureness, which is then traded in for marriage. If the girls do cross the line into sex (or even passionate kissing), they are no longer this trope, instead becoming Schoolgirl Lesbians, and are treated differently. Compare Heterosexual Life-Partners, where it just doesn't seem as romantic but remains a tremendously important personal bond, above and beyond a genuine romantic relationship. Also compare Experimented in College.
#04. Varchie (Archie Andrews & Veronica Lodge; ROMANTIC TROPE: UPTOWN GIRL)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uptown Girl
"She's a rich girl, she don't try to hide it, Diamonds on the soles of her shoes. He's a poor boy, empty as a pocket, Empty as a pocket with nothing to lose."—Paul Simon, "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes"
You know the story. It's a love story. Our lovers are from different worlds — one wealthy, one not. The poor girl has fallen in love with the Gentleman Snarker, or the Unlucky Everydude secretly courts the daughter of the richest man in town. And she loves him too. Maybe it was Love at First Sight. Maybe she has a habit of slipping out to the seedier side of town for a night of fun. Maybe they've been friends their whole lives and the difference in status never really mattered. Will their love be enough to let them be happy together?
In any case, this is usually played out in one of three ways:
The poor guy and rich girl mutually fall in love, and neither one cares about their differences in wealth. People around them, however, do, and conspire to interfere with True Love.
The poor guy falls for the rich girl, even though he knows that she's out of his league. Undaunted, our hero engages in some Zany Scheme to get her to notice him or be impressed by him. This usually ends with the girl revealing that she doesn't care if he's rich or poor, and that she loves him for who he is.
The poor guy and the rich girl fall for one another, but he doesn't know she's rich at first. When he finds out, he's either intimidated by her wealth once he finds out, or else doesn't think he's good enough for her. As before, she doesn't care about such things, and has to convince him that he's the one she wants.
When the rich girl wants nothing to do with the poor guy, but slowly warms up to him, it's a different trope entirely. Note that the roles aren't locked by gender: a working-class girl who loves a rich boy also fits this trope, as do two lovers of the same gender. A relationship variant of the Odd Couple and quite often overlaps with Nobody Thinks It Will Work. Also often leads to cases of I Can't Believe a Guy Like You Would Notice Me, either with severe case of insecurity (like the third type above), or simply the poor guy being constantly feeling lucky and appreciative that someone so rich could fall for him. If it's not just the fact that she comes from money, but that he feels like she's above him, she's a Peerless Love Interest. Compare with All Girls Want Bad Boys, which often follows the same socioeconomic groups (or the inverse, if the girl is The Ingenue and the boy is an Gentleman Snarker or Spoiled Brat). Can overlap with Single Woman Seeks Good Man as it is the guy's personality that wins her heart (as is the case mentioned above). Not to be confused with the Brittany Murphy film Uptown Girls, which doesn't use this trope. Not to be confused with City Mouse either. This is transitioning into Dead Horse Trope territory, since interclass marriage is no longer shocking, and the expectation that men should be the breadwinner in the family is much weaker today than it used to be. On the other hand, it may become an Undead Horse Trope with the emergence of culture wars and new waves of social stratification. For the non-romantic variant, see Interclass Friendship. For the version endemic to India, see Type Caste, although that trope is not restricted solely to marriage and relationships.
#03. Falice (FP Jones & Alice Cooper; ROMANTIC TROPE: UNRESOLVED SEXUAL TENSION AKA UST)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unresolved Sexual Tension (UST)
"To repress one's feelings only makes them stronger."— Yu Shu Lien, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Two people are obviously attracted to each other, but some element of the story is keeping them apart. This tension is frequently referred to as UST in fandom, where it is pronounced "oost" or Yu-Ess-Tee. Also known as "Long Unresolved Sexual Tension". Belligerent Sexual Tension is a way to keep the UST by having the couple fight each other too much to actually get together. They Do is when it gets resolved (Literally Falling in Love might help). Shipping Bed Death and Strangled by the Red String are when it gets resolved badly. Compare All Love Is Unrequited, Will They or Won't They?, Just Friends, Moment Killer (a staple of a UST relationship), Maybe Ever After (a more uncertain version), Cannot Spit It Out. Contrast Official Couple, when the couple is already together, and Friends with Benefits, where the primarybond in the relationship is sex.
#02. Barchie (Archie Andrews & Betty Cooper; ROMANTIC TROPE: WILL THEY OR WON’T THEY?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will They Or Won’t They?
"Pam is very attractive, no question. If I didn't have an award show to host, I could easily see having two or three seasons of will-they-won't-they sexual tension that ultimately goes nowhere."—Conan O'Brien, Emmy 2006 opening skit, after crashing, The Office (US)
Two characters, often combative but with obvious Unresolved Sexual Tension, resist going into a full blown relationship for a rather long time. Usually the two characters will be presented so that "they will" is the conclusion to root for; only rarely is the question of whether the writers think they should in any real doubt. Actually ending the dance is a tricky business. It is difficult for shows to recover from the loss of a major source of dramatic tension represented by an unrequited relationship. Many shows Jump the Shark or suffer Shipping Bed Death when the two characters finally get together. A common problem is that the show suddenly becomes about the relationship rather than remaining true to its original premise. Sometimes an attempt is made to introduce a new source of dramatic tension, but it is frequently cheesy and lame. To avoid this, many shows choose to answer the question and end the show nearly simultaneously via a Last Minute Hookup. Of course, the opposite can also occur. Shows can go out of their way to avoid resolving the relationship, making ever-more-desperate narrative leaps. In longer-running shows, they may even have the characters hook up for a little while, only to split up over and over again, until by the time they finally let the characters get actually, technically married, the show has lost its viewership anyway. Belligerent Sexual Tension is often a victim of this. Sometimes a Love Epiphany can be used to have a character realize his/her feelings, but still not resolve the question, just add a new dynamic to it. A fundamental Shipping-inducement strategy. See also Almost Kiss, Held Gaze, Relationship Upgrade, Moment Killer, Everyone Can See It. When a series ends without even a hint of resolution to will-they-or-won't-they, it's No Romantic Resolution. If it's more ambiguous, it's Maybe Ever After. Contrast Friends with Benefits, where they definitelydo it, but without the emotional baggage. Compare Just Friends and They Do. Contrast Platonic Life-Partners and Ship Sinking — they won't. See Just Eat Gilligan if it's a major plot point. See also Break-Up/Make-Up Scenario when they separate for some dramatic reason, spend a time apart, then reconcile (usually with a kiss, which breaks the Will They Or Won't They)
#01. Jeronica (Jughead Jones & Veronica Lodge;  ROMANTIC TROPE: BELLIGERENT SEXUAL TENSION AKA BST)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Belligerent Sexual Tension (BST)
"Wonderful girl! Either I'm gonna kill her, or I'm beginning to like her!"— Han Solo about Princess Leia Organa, A New Hope
There's a couple, usually a sometimes sweet, sometimes grouchy female (Tsundere) paired with a secretly-kind jerk (Jerk With A Heart Of Gold), who are not able to admit their feelings. At the top of their lungs. Despite the conflict, there is an attraction. This is usually obvious to everyone around except the couple. Confront them with the obvious, they'll deny deny deny. Sometimes they will progress to admitting their friendship but insist they are Just Friends. Eventually, they can admit their feelings to practically anyone except their loved one. It ends up where both characters dance around admitting their feelings as if the words "I love you" are some sort of death curse, much to the frustration of the audience and the other characters. Older Than Steam, since this is used in Much Ado About Nothing, and has varying degrees of popularity at different times. If there is a Love Epiphany with one of these characters, expect it to change nothing, at least in the short term. This can even be true in established long-term relationships; see Like an Old Married Couple. If the whole relationship is defined by the belligerence, it can become The Masochism Tango. If a pair of outright enemies has this sort of attraction, it's a case of Foe Romance Subtext and when it ultimately goes from subtext to text, then it's Dating Catwoman. See also Slap-Slap-Kiss, No Accounting for Taste, Well, Excuse Me, Princess! and Defrosting Ice Queen. If we're lucky, at the end we may get to see a moment of Aww, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other. Expect this couple to be either extremely popular or completely hated by the fandom. For the platonic version, compare Vitriolic Best Buds and With Friends Like These.... Not to be confused with Hate at First Sight, although it may overlap.

Elizabeth didn't stay on the phone with Malakai as long as she had wanted to. There was a lot she needed to catch Malakai up on and doing it over the phone just didn't sit right with her. She promised him that when he returned she would explain everything that happened while he had been gone. Of course she knew he wouldn't remember that she compelled him, but once he got back should give him back the memory of that night that she tries to forget about. It was going to be tough to relive it all, but she had to do it. After she ended the phone call, she sent a quick text to Veronica before falling asleep quickly.
While sleep had come quickly, it didn't feel like she had been asleep for long when she felt someone climbing into the bed with her. She opened one eye to see Hope trying to be as quiet as she possibly could as she made her way over to Elizabeth. From what Elizabeth could tell, it was still early morning and she knew that Hope wouldn't be able to wait until later to get Elizabeth up to go down tot he basement.
Shutting her eye, she stayed still waiting to see what it was that Hope was going to do exactly. Hope had moved as close as she could to Elizabeth without stepping right next to her. A smile formed on the child's lips as she looked down at Elizabeth for a moment before jumping on her back. Elizabeth groaned before she began to laugh.
"Wake up!" Hope said with a grin on her face as she climbed off of Elizabeth and on to the bed.
"I'm up now." Elizabeth said sitting up. "You attacked me in my sleep." She gave a slight pout.
"Mom said I could." Hope's smile widened into a grin.
"Did she now?" Elizabeth began to reach out for Hope but the girl rolled away from Elizabeth. "I am going to get you." She said as she got up off the bed.
Hope's half scream, half laugh had filed Elizabeth's ears as she had grabbed a hold of Hope and tossed her into the middle of the bed.
"Again!" Hope said as she lifted herself back up and ran to Elizabeth. Elizabeth tossed her back on to the bed repeatedly for a few minutes. On the last toss, Hope laid in the middle of the bed breathing hard from laughing so much. "Can we go so see them now?" She asked as she slowly sat up.
"Yeah, we can go now." She said picking Hope off the bed and putting her down on the floor. She watched as Hope ran out of the room and ran her hand through her hair before quickly changing.
Walking out of the room she saw Hope already standing by the basement door, waiting excitedly. Elizabeth smiled at her as she walked over and unlocked the door before taking Hope's hand. They started down the stairs with Hope leading the way. It made Elizabeth laugh with how fast Hope was trying to get down the stairs. It also made Elizabeth realize that Hope had missed her family and wanted nothing more than to visit them.
Walking over to the first casket that was in front of them, Elizabeth lifted the lid. For the last few times that she had been here, she knew that when she lifted that lid she would find Elijah there sleeping. To see Elijah like he was, it always caused Elizabeth's heart to ache a bit. Because of her, he was here and she would always feel guilty for it until they were cured and awake. Things could have been so much different if she had just stayed away.
"Liz." Hope said tugging on Elizabeth's shirt breaking her away from her thoughts.
"Sorry." Elizabeth said as she picked up Hope. "Ready?" She asked as she reached for Elijah's hand.
"Ready!" Hope said excitedly.
Just like the last two times, Elizabeth and Hope found themselves in the grassy field. There was a slight breeze that passed and it had caused both of them to smile. Even though this had only been their third time there, it all seemed so familiar and it felt like another home to them. While it was the siblings only way of survival, to Elizabeth it was an escape from the real world. It was her way of being able to forget what was awaiting for her when she returned. She wasn't sure what it meant to Hope. She thought it was possible just for to be a way to visit the family she couldn't see on a daily basis. But either way, it was the chance to get to see the faces they had both longed to see.
No longer worrying about where Hope was going, she allowed Hope to run free in the field as they made their way towards the house. It brought a smile to Elizabeth's face as she watched Hope run straight for the house. To see that she was excited to be there made it all the more better that they were able to do this. To see that joy in Hope, Elizabeth was glad that Hope had been able to find this loophole in the spell. With out it, Elizabeth wasn't exactly sure if she would ever see that moment of pure joy coming from this little girl. She'd have to store this specific moment for later to show Hayley how happy her daughter was.
Just as before, Freya stepped out on the porch and waited for Elizabeth and Hope to make their way up the steps. Hope's excitement only grew when she saw Freya and she ran towards her.
"Welcome back." Freya said with a smile at both of them as she leaned down to kiss hope on the cheek.
"Aunt Freya!" Hope said with a huge grin on her face. "I missed you."
"I missed you as well." Freya said with her smile turning into a grin. "My goodness you have grown so much." She looked over at Elizabeth for a moment giving her a smile. "Why don't we go inside and see the others?"
"Yes!" Hope said running past Freya to the door and going inside.
"Someone is excited." Freya said chuckling.
"She's been impatiently waiting for a visit." Elizabeth said with a nod. "Part of it would be my fault."
"How so?" Freya asked as she began making her way towards the door.
"It has been a long few weeks. We would have been here yesterday, but I figured we'd wait until today." Elizabeth said with a slight now.
"Everything alright out there?" Freya asked worried.
"For now, all is quiet as it should be." Elizabeth said with smile before they walked into the house.
"and then she took us out for ice cream and we got to have the place all to ourselves." Freya and Elizabeth had just caught the end of Hope's story about her day yesterday. Hope had been sitting on the couch with the others sitting or standing around her.
"It sounds like you three had a lot of fun." Rebekah said with smile.
"We did." Elizabeth said with a nod. "Not to mention the fun we had this morning."
"Oh yeah!" Hope said with a smile. "I woke up Liz by attacking her." Hope sounded proud about that.
"I didn't see it coming." Elizabeth said with a chuckle.
"She probably cheated." Kol said looking over at Elizabeth with a smirk.
"I promised the girl I wouldn't cheat during my visits." Elizabeth said shaking her head with a smile.
"Were you cheating before?" Elijah asked with a smile.
"I may have ran a bit faster than I should have. She called it cheating." Elizabeth said with a shrug as if it was nothing. She definitely wasn't going to mention that she knew Hope was going to jump on her that morning.
"Sounds like cheating to me." Rebekah said as she pulled Hope closer to her and smothered her in love. Everyone had a smile on their face as they heard Hope laughing and trying to get away from Rebekah's smothering.
Once the laughter had stopped, Kol had been the first one out of the room. But before he left, Elizabeth had caught the look he had given her. The look itself had said everything that Kol had probably wanted to say to her. Elizabeth was sure that whatever it was that was on his mind was all negative towards Elizabeth. While everyone else's eyes were on Hope, Elizabeth took a moment to try and collect her thoughts and try not to give any hints that it actually bothered her.
Even though Elizabeth had tired to hide it, Elijah could tell that something had changed in Elizabeth at that moment. He may have not been sure of what it was that may have crossed her mind, but the bond told him that something was in fact off about Elizabeth. He looked over at her just in time to see a smile return to her face before it grew even more when she caught him looking at her.
"I figured you would have been here yesterday." Elijah said to Elizabeth as they stood on the porch watching Hope, Rebekah and Kol play hide and seek in the garden. Elizabeth had promised him that she'd be there in a week when she had managed to pull him into her head.
"I was finishing up a few last minute things." Elizabeth said looking over at Elijah. "And then I decided Hope needed some kind of interaction besides her mom."
"Everything taken care of in the Quarter?" He asked looking over at her.
"Definitely." She said with a nod. "It is quiet for once."
"What about Aurora?" He asked wanting to make sure that things hadn't taken a turn for the worst as they had seemed to be in Elizabeth's dream.
"Dead." She said with a smirk on her face. The smirk had caused Elijah to smile and shake his head for a moment. He should have known that Elizabeth would have done as she said she would. It was still a shock to him that Elizabeth had been able to pull him into her dream.
"And Veronica?" Elijah asked curious to know if she had been safe. A sigh passed her lips and Elijah became worried. He would hate to hear that she had lost another family member because of the enemies they had made.
"She's..." Elizabeth didn't know how to exactly explain Veronica exactly. "breathing."
"I hear a 'but' coming." Elijah said with a raised eyebrow. If Veronica had been breathing and fine he knew Elizabeth would have been happy about it. But what he felt coming from Elizabeth was mixed emotions about it.
"She's been turned." She said with a small nod before looking back to watch Hope tackle Kol to the ground. It was still difficult for Elizabeth to believe that Veronica was now a vampire. Hell she wasn't just a vampire, she was whatever you'd call Elizabeth.
"And her sire?" He asked curiously.
"Me." She said before looking back at him. "She died with my blood in her system."
Elijah's eyes had widen for a moment in shock. "Is she any different?" He was curious to know what differences or similarities the girl may have to Elizabeth. While it amazed him that there was now a line that could possibly grow of this new type of vampire, he was also worried about the possibility of their being a whole sireline becoming a weapon towards the Originals.
Elizabeth laughed. "Different?" She smiled and sighed. "She's got the downside of everything the serum had given me. The eyes, the fangs, the venom and the strength." She shook her head. "And then she's got a touch of Veronica in it all."
"How so?" He asked watching her, glad to see there was a smile on her face as she talked about Veronica.
"She can siphon magic." She said with her smile growing a bit more. "Even though she was turned into the monster that I am, she managed to hold on to the part of her that was everything to her since coming to New Orleans. She can still do magic until her heart is content."
"Elizabeth, you are not a monster." He said shaking his head and taking a step closer to her, taking her hand in his.
"Says the man that is currently in a dream world because I bit him." She said watching him. "You may not think of me as a monster, but I know your brother believes that I am a monster."
"I doubt Niklaus would continue to think that if you are doing everything you can to protect us as well as get the cures for us." Elijah said trying to reassure her that she wasn't the monster she claimed to be.
"I wasn't talking about Klaus." She said shaking her head. She turned her head towards the garden watching as Kol counted and Hope and Rebekah went and hid in the hedges. "I'm talking about Kol."
"Kol?" His eyebrow raised as he looked over at his brother. "Why do you believe that?"
"You didn't see it, Elijah. But it makes so much sense now." She said sighing. "He's never in the same room as me for long. I see the hate in his eyes before he leaves the room. I don't blame him, Elijah. I felt the same way towards him for centuries."
"You hadn't forgiven him for what he had done. " He said with a nod. "That is understandable."
"And he hasn't forgiven me for what I have done, either." She said before looking around. "He has every right to. If it wasn't for me, all of you wouldn't be here."
"We don't know that." He said shaking his head. "We could have very well be here because of Marcel."
Elizabeth couldn't argue with that. They all had seen the prophecy when it had been in Marcel's favor. Things could have been very much the same with Elizabeth on the outside unsure of what to do about anything. But it didn't change the situation they were in. They were still in the dream world and it was because of Elizabeth. It was still hard to see past that for Elizabeth.
"Give him some time." Elijah said bringing Elizabeth's hand up to his lips and kissing it. "He'll come around."
"Ill give him, oh lets say, eight hundred years before he forgives me." Her words caused both of them to laugh for a moment. It had been nice to Elizabeth for her to just laugh for a moment in time. In all honesty, Elizabeth wished things were always the way it was in the dream world. There wasn't anything to really worry about. Of course that was just her opinion. For those that were temporarily residents, they felt a bit differently. "It seems so peaceful here." She said looking out passed the garden.
"It has its perks." Elijah said with a nod. "I prefer the world outside of this spell."
"Want to trade?" Elizabeth said with a small smile. "I think I could use a good nap."
Elijah shook his head smiling at her. "I believe I would have a harder time dealing with this if you were the one inside this spell."
"Oh please, I am sure you would have had me up quicker than I have been able to get things fixed." To Elizabeth that had felt like the truth. Even though she was now what she was, she was still a younger Vampire than most of those that she encountered. Elijah would have easily found everything he needed.
"Lets not find out." He said running his hand through her hair. "I'd hate for there to be something that would make us go through this again."
She sighed watching him. "You know there will be at some point." She wished it wasn't true but it had been there, clear as day, and both of them had seen it.
"We don't know when that is supposed to happen, Elizabeth." Elijah didn't like that they both knew what Jess had seen. He shouldn't have shown Elizabeth the visions that Jess had shown him of her. He hated that she was afraid of a small glimpse of the future.
"But it will happen." She shook her head slightly. "It could be weeks, years, hell it could even be tomorrow for all I know." Elizabeth knew it wasn't that close though. With what visions she allowed Jess to show her, there were things she had to do first and none of them had happened yet. But she couldn't tell him about the other visions Jess had shown her the night everything fell apart. She knew that if she did, it would leave Elijah a worried mess in this dream world. She'd hate for him to be stressed and worried even more than he already was. "I just don't want us to think that after all of this is over that we'll be home free."
Elijah understood what she meant. While he would prefer that particular vision wouldn't happen for several lifetimes, he knew that any point and time things could go the way Jess had seen them. He would ask if Jess's visions ever changed but he already knew the answer to that one. The visions he had seen had happened days after Jess had shown him. They didn't change. The last thing that was waiting for her was that damn door.
"At least tell me what is awaiting you behind that door." He said wanting to know what had her scared. She had been putting it off and he wanted to know this time before she left. "That way when the time comes, while I hope it doesn't, I know what it is that we will have to face."
She placed her hand on his cheek before sighing softly. "Let's take a walk." She said giving him a small smile. "I'd hate for Hope to over hear anything and there be a possibility of having nightmares."
He placed his hand on top of hers before pulling her hand away and held on to it. Nodding, he lead her away from the garden where Hope's laughter could be heard towards the lake that Freya added. While they walked towards it, they didn't say anything. Elizabeth was trying to get her thoughts in order and Elijah could tell she was. The look on her face had told him that she wasn't sure where to start. He brought their joined hands up to his mouth and kissed the back of her hand. She smiled over at him and it seemed to help her with the slight anxious feeling she had from needing to relive the memories she was about to tell him.
"I'd say it was about thirty years ago was when I met Jess." She started. Elijah's eyebrow raised slightly wondering what that had to do with Whitmore. "She was the coven's most protected asset at the time. She was also the most abused asset. I had simply wished to ask her a question about the spell Aya had done." It was at that moment Elijah knew this was the beginning of her story. "She had been afraid that I was just another vampire that wanted to use her power to gain something. I had to prove that it was never my intention. "The both of them continued to walk up and along the lake's dock. "She hadn't been in tune with me yet to see that I wasn't going to use or hurt her. But she knew nothing of what could help me get our bond back. I was about to leave her when I had seen how her coven was treating her. That was when I asked her if she wanted to leave her coven. I had never seen someone agree so quickly before." Elizabeth laughed and shook her head.
"We had managed to live free from her coven for ten years before her brother had found us." Elizabeth stopped for a minute to collect her thoughts. She wanted to find the right words to explain Alex. Elijah knew who he was now, it was just actually a matter of explaining what happened in their past. "First he had showed no reason for us to worry that he would try and take Jess back to their coven. And over a span of a few weeks, I had grown to care for him. And one night was filled with such excitement. It had been a mix of romance, danger, adventure. And yet, it was everything that should have told me to run. But I didn't." She sighed softly. "I had allowed several walls down at that point. And he found things out about me that I had wished I never told him. The next day, he left claiming that he was going to get his things and live on the run with us. We believed him. A few days later, it all went wrong. I absolutely never expected for my freedom to be diminished in just a single moment of opening a door for him."
Elizabeth was almost reliving those emotions again and Elijah could feel them as well. It also brought on his own feelings of anger. Elijah was sure that if he had known the full story, he would have gladly been the one to kill Alex. But Elizabeth had done that on her own and he can still see the image clear as day of Elizabeth ripping his head clean off and showing it to the other vampires that he had lead straight to them. The memory alone would have made him smile but in this moment, he couldn't.
"I was shot with vervain until I went down." Elizabeth continued and Elijah squeezed her hand slightly. She gave him a small smile. "And when I finally went down, I woke up in a cell. I was weak. Along with being injected with vervain, a majority of my blood was drained from my body. It had made it feel a whole lot worse. Being as old as I was, I should have been stronger. But the humans had really found a way to bring down an old vampire." She shook her head at the memory. "The first day I was there, the cell I was in had a kind of a sprinkler system that would spray vervain water out every hour. No matter where I went in that cell to try and get away from it, I couldn't. You can't ever get used to the feeling or the smell of your skin burning. I had never hated a human so much after being there for just one day." The memory itself had caused Elizabeth's eyes to water. She had also showed Elijah a few memories of it. "I wanted to kill Alex and who ever it was that he handed me to. I just wanted to be free from that place and have my revenge on them."
Elijah was going to stop Elizabeth and tell her she no longer needed to continue the story. He hated to hear about the pain and to see it through her memories had made it worse. But part of him still wanted her to continue so he would know who all was responsible for it. He wanted to know if they had in fact been killed by her hands. If not, the moment he awoke from this deep sleep, he would surely be the one to end their lives. If he could do that, it may just prevent what her future held.
"It was foolish of me to think that this was as bad as it was going to get." She continued. "When they dragged me from my cell, they would take me to this room and strap me down to a table. From there it was all up to the doctor's decision on what it was we were there for. That day he just happened to want to study how the sun had affected us. " The images that flashed through her mind at that simple thought, she couldn't bring herself to even say the words that came with the torment. She shook her head trying to get rid of the images but it didn't seem to work. This time she didn't show him the memories. She couldn't bring herself to. She didn't want him to see the torment she had gone through. "It was a continuous thing. Day in and day out the torment continued and it never seemed to end. I thought I was going to die in that place. But he kept us alive for it to continue."
"Eventually it went from the damage of the sun to how quickly our bodies could heal. Organs were pulled from my body just for them to see it being regenerated by my blood." She could hear her own screams ringing in her ears as she thought about it looked up at the sky for a moment. "I eventually got a break from it. I was moved from what I am assuming was Whitmore to one of the Doctor's, Jax, private home. I could barely remember being moved. I was still so weak and at that point, sleep was a way to pass the time. I had gone from one cell to another that was in a basement." She shook her head slightly.
"That was where I found out I was Jax's personal experiment. He would tear me apart and write down all the results in this notebook. He'd take vials of my blood, throw me in the cell and leave for hours, sometimes days. And during those days, I'd try to escape. But with how weak I was, it would make things so much worse. He only gave me enough blood to not desecrate. The hunger I felt was unbearable and all I wanted to do was rip into something. But that is hard to do from the inside of a cell." The thought of that blood lust had actually caused the veins under Elizabeth's eyes to make an appearance.
"Elizabeth, Stop." Elijah said the moment he seen it.
"I'm sorry." She said turning away from him trying to get herself under control. While the actual chances of her hurting Elijah there were pretty slim, she hated the idea of him seeing her that way.
"You don't need to continue this." He said worried about her. He didn't want her to be thinking about the blood lust to just leave from there and give into it outside of the dream world.
"I'm okay." She said turning back to him once she knew she had herself under control. "You'd think after dealing with this for almost 900 years I'd have better control over the whole blood lust thing."
"None of us have it under control." Elijah said with a nod as he watched her.
"Some have it under control more than others." She said as she took a step closer to him. "But I promise I am okay." She nodded hoping that he would believe her.
And he did. To him she seemed to be as calm as she was before she had began her the tale of her past. He could even see it in her eyes, and feel it through the bond, that she had herself together for the time being.
"I understand if you don't wish to continue." He said
"I can still tell you." She said with a small smile. "There are still things you probably should know." The words had caused Elijah's eyebrow to raise.
"Then please do continue." While he did want to know everything, he just hoped that she wouldn't get lost in it all like she just had.
"Getting out had seemed like a long shot, but I managed to do it though." She said before taking a deep breath. "I was locked away for a total of ten years. Over those years I learned a schedule of his. When he was gone for days I would try as much as I could to break free. As creepy as it is, they had annual parties that they would go to just to show off their projects. I had gone to a few of them before. But that year, he didn't take me. I figured that would be my chance to get out. I had acted weaker than what I was hoping that he would leave the cell door open. Unfortunately he didn't. But when he did leave, he forgot to leave the basement door locked as he usually did. I must of heard her heart beating before I even heard the door open. I could tell she was afraid just by the slow steps she had taken down the stairs. She must have been about ten years old. But in that moment, I hadn't cared. I was thirsty and I wanted nothing more than to get out of there.
"At first she wouldn't come near me. She stood there shocked and shaken at what she had just found. I had told her that everything would be okay if she helped me. And she did. She let me out of that cell thinking she was saving me from her dad. That was her mistake though. The moment that cell door was opened, I had her in my arms and my teeth in her neck." A small chill passed through Elizabeth at the thought of taking a child's life. She knew it had been her only way of surviving but it had still bothered her from time to time. "I had figured Jax would have done something else to keep his daughter safe but he hadn't. There was no vervain in her system to stop me from feeding. I drank until she was empty. I locked her body in the cell before making my way up the stairs just so when he found her there he have to struggle to get the cell open just to reach her. I found his wife looking for their daughter. She was panicked and was about to look downstairs when she saw me.
"She knew though. She knew exactly what I was the moment I walked up to her. She fought for a bit until I had enough and dug in. Part of me had just wanted to kill her and go, but the need for blood was stronger." She shook her head slightly. "After I left the house I looked near and far for that man. He must have gone into hiding because he never even showed up to his own family's funeral." She sighed knowing that he was out there still. "To this day, I never found him."
Knowing that had given Elijah some hope that once he was out of this dream world he'd find this man and kill him slowly for putting Elizabeth through it all. He knew it would make both of them feel better about knowing that he was dead. And to Elijah it would add to the hope that if he killed Jax that for whatever reason Elizabeth needed to go to Whitmore it would be for a completely different reason.
"After not being able to find Jax, I moved on to look for Alex. But that had been way to easy. It was like he wanted me to find him or he some how found out that I had escaped and was coming for him. I just didn't know that he had already drank a vial of my blood that he had gotten from Jax. I remember him begging me not to kill him but I hadn't listened. The only thought in my head was I wanted to see his heart in my hands. And I did just that. It was months after I had killed him that he found me again. That had both scared me and amazed me at the same time. But after the shock of it, I almost killed him again, but left him with a warning instead. I told him that if he were to ever cross my path again, I would kill him on the spot without thinking twice. I had just gotten myself back to how I wanted to be without the blood lust controlling me. If I killed him, I knew that I would feel some kind of thrill in it and would seek more. But instead I let him go. The next time I saw him was the night I killed Marcel."
"But you didn't kill him." Elijah noted.
"Jess had asked me not to." She said with a shrug. "I had my hand wrapped around his heart that night about ready to pull it from his chest when Jess came and said he had been there to help. I should have just killed him all those years ago. Things could have gone so differently."
"None of it is your fault." Elijah said shaking his head. "We were already dealing with the prophecy. Nothing was going to change if this was where we were meant to be."
She scoffed. "If this is where we were meant to be at in this moment, the universe is very cruel."
Elijah laughed shaking his head before a thought crossed his mind. "If things had played differently where you weren't what you are and my family and I were no longer here, where would you be?" Call it curiosity for Elijah. He was still trying to know every detail of Elizabeth's mind.
Elizabeth looked down at the water for a moment. She knew exactly where she would be. "A completely different country. " She admitted. "I would have left New Orleans and never looked back. You would think that after all this time of being around death, I would have been used to it. But whenever it comes to anyone I care about, death is harder and I can't seem to accept that they are gone."
After hearing those words, realization had hit him. "Your human was the reason you were in Paris, wasn't it." She only nodded her answer. "Do you ever go back to that diner?" He asked. "I'm sure you two had memories there." Even though Elijah wanted to know, he now hated the thought that Elizabeth was ever with anyone else.
"No." She said shaking her head softly. "I never go back to those places. I like to keep my distance."
"Why?" He asked curiously.
"They are just reminders that I will live through many centuries outliving loved ones while I cannot do anything about it." She shrugged slightly. "While life is supposed to go on even though I have killed many and many of those I loved have died, I just cant seem to go back to those places. Even if it has been centuries or even just years that things have happened. I can't even step with in a hundred mile radius of it."
Elijah looked down for a moment before looking back at Elizabeth. "Would you have left after Davina's death?"
"I wanted to." She said with a nod. "I really did. Sitting there in those few minutes before Malakai showed up to Marcel's loft, I was thinking about leaving. I figured I would tell you that I was going to need some kind of space for a bit. That the time I needed to forgive you was better spent away from New Orleans." She shrugged slightly. "But things changed and while I learned about Marcel's plan, part of me wanted to eagerly accept to just turn it off and not feel anything."
"You must have known that there would have been a chance with your emotions off that you wouldn't want to help us." Elijah had thought about if from time to time wondering why Elizabeth still stuck around to help them instead of not caring like any other vampire did when they had their emotions off. But then again that had been towards when she was about to flip her switch back on.
Elizabeth chuckled slightly. "When I left the loft that night, it was to find Jess. I had so many thoughts running through my head after I turned off my emotions. One of them being that I needed to get to Jess for her ability to keep me on track. I had promised myself before I turned it off that I would help stop Marcel. Humanity or not, that man needed to be stopped." She shook her head slightly thinking back to those few days. "I was selfish during my time with my humanity off, Elijah." She admitted. Elijah could feel the guilt that she was starting to feel. It was hard to miss it with how Elizabeth was filled with guilt thinking back to those few days. "I wanted that damn serum for myself just to have and to feel the power it would give me."
Those words had shocked Elijah. While part of him knew she would take the serum, he never it was just because she had wanted it for herself. He always thought it was a plan to hopefully counteract the prophecy. He shook his head slightly. "That wasn't you, Elizabeth. Without our humanity we are just the creatures we are."
"And the creature I was with out my mine wanted the serum for herself that she burned Vincent's only spell to extract it." If she hadn't burned the spell, Elizabeth would have had the serum extracted from herself the moment her humanity had been back on and had it destroyed. "She was the one that somehow managed to convince Jess that it was the right thing to stop her heart long enough for the serum to work. She did everything opposite of what I wanted."
Elijah knew that anyone without their humanity would do things they wouldn't normally do with their emotions back on. Elizabeth wasn't an exception to that. She was prone to having her darker side take over and do as she pleased. To be honest, Elijah hated that side of her. He had been so used to seeing the compassionate side of her throughout her life. He didn't want to believe that she really wanted to be what she was now.
"What had been your plan for everything?" He asked curious to hear what it was that she really wanted to do.
"My plan had been to show Marcel that I did flip the switch for a few days, to show him that I was only thinking about myself, which I was. Then, extract the serum and leave it with you and turn my emotions back on. And to be honest, after that I was going to leave town. But, that all changed the moment I held the damn thing in my hand. Jess knew exactly what was going to happen and she did nothing to dissuade me from the new plans I was making."
"She knew the whole time, didn't she?" He asked already knowing the answer. "She knew from the moment you walked up to her door that we would be here."
"She knows more now." She said with a shrug.
"Do you ever ask to see the new visions?" He asked wanting to know if she knew more about her future than what she was telling him.
"No." She said shaking her head. "Beside what I have already seen, I don't want to know anything else. It is better to be left in the dark about certain things."
"You are absolutely right about that." He said with a nod. Seeing the visions from the prophecy as well as the visions Jess had seen about Elizabeth had made things difficult. They were now worrying about a future that would take time to get to. But even then it was going to be leaving them always wondering if things would happen that day, if not what would it happen tomorrow.
While Elizabeth knew what the future held, she didn't know how long it would be to get there. She never asked for the details. She knew that if she knew the time frame of when things would happen it would drive her crazy looking for what she needed to do just to be done with it all. It was why she stopped asking to see the visions. Every time she did, details became clearer and it made her feel crazy waiting for things to happen.
"I honestly just want to live in the present for a while." She said with a small smile. "Worrying what is or isn't supposed to happen is just too stressful."
"Then we wont discuss what is to come anymore." He said taking a step closer to her. "You can take it day by day and I'll go visit by visit."
Elizabeth laughed. "So you'll be living vicariously though me then?"
"That would be the plan, for now." He said smiling at her. "Until we both can take it day by day."
"I like that plan." She said smiling back at him. A thought crossed her mind and smirked grew on her lips.
"What did you just think about?" Elijah asked knowing the look on her face.
"Visit by visit right?" She asked trying not to let him into her thoughts. "To say that you've done something in this dream world besides sit around and worry?"
"Right." He said with a raised eyebrow. He wasn't sure exactly what was on her mind or what she had planned.
"How about a swim?" She asked as she took a few steps towards him before pushing him off the dock. The look on his face as he fell in had caused her to laugh for a moment before she jumped in herself.

Sierra Burgess is more complex than you think
Since Sierra Burgess is a Loser came to Netflix, I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, and mostly negative ones. Luckily I had the chance to watch the film before I heard any opinions on it and formed my own conclusions about the character Sierra, that most are now claiming is a cringe worthy girl and sexual assailant. One characteristic that people bring up is how confident she is and then how she moods swings later to go off on her skinny beautiful mom. Although Sierra begins the film by seeming confident with her come backs and telling herself in the mirror that she is a “magnificent beast”, this does not mean that this character still carries insecurities underneath that confident facade. No matter how ANYONE may seem, they can still go home and while deep in their own thoughts, start having negative views of themselves pop up. That’s how insecurities work, and Sierra feels insecure about many aspects of her life if you didn’t notice.
Sierra is a plus sized girl (thank you representation!) and like I mentioned, she says to herself and others in the beginning that she doesn’t care what she looks like. This is a lie that even myself has said to others! Some people just don’t want to seem like they actually focus or care about their weight or appearance in general, when actually they are more aware of it than anyone else around them. They get reminded everyday when someone judges them or doesn’t give them the time of day because of their larger size. Of course somebody who does’t have the “ideal”’ body can have negative thoughts at any time and start to hate the way they look, especially when they feel they can’t be loved because of their appearance. When Sierra’s mom tries to give her an acronym about being body positive, its not exactly the kind of response or attention that she wants or NEEDs from her mother who’s probably never felt as insecure about her body. What sierra really seems to need is for someone to ACTUALLY recognize and vocalize that yes, she is plus size, but is still beautiful regardless, not just an acronym to help her try and get over negative thoughts.
Sierra’s character is also very smart and a writing/english prodigy, however people just attribute this to be just because of her famous author of a father. Like she mentions, its difficult to live under his shadow and be expected to be just as great or greater than he is. Even her english teacher expects more of her just because her father is great at writing, so she must be too right? Sierra feels she must prove herself, but what if she doesn’t meet expectations? These are just more insecurities!
SO now we reach the catfishing part. Everyone has seen or at least heard of the MTV show catfish, and it creeps everybody out to the max. Countless people accuse Sierra of catfishing Jamey and even assaulting him later with a kiss. Did the people watching the film forget that it was not Sierra who gave out her number in the first place??? Sierra probably got other texts from random people because Veronica had her number. Sierra responded to a text and just came to find out that the text was from an undeniably cute boy. Who could blame her for keeping up a conversation? She found out that she got along with Jamey over text and developed feelings for him as well. However when it came to telling him her real identity, things got a little complicated, of course. Sierra realizes that this boy likes her personality from just having a text conversation with her. While Jamey might think he may be texting someone else (veronica), Sierra is able to talk to someone without being expected to be smart because of her father’s fame, and also doesn’t actually know what she looks like so she actually has the chance to flirt with the hot jock, who normally wouldn’t give her the time of day. When she realizes that Jamey thinks she is mean girl Veronica, it hits her hard that Jamey cares about looks, especially when he mentioned that he only liked veronica because he saw her once at a game. Sierra then has the insecurities about her body rise up, and what else does she think she can do other than seek help from veronica so she can keep talking to Jamey. In Sierra’s mind, if Jamey knew what she looked like, he would never pursue her. She is so worried, that she pretends to be deaf when encountering him. While pretending to be deaf is not ok, it wasn’t even her idea to pretend in the first place! It was her friends cruel joke as to get her to actually meet Jamey face to face. Skipping to later, when Sierra kisses Jamey in place of Veronica, many people say that this was a case of assault. Jamey wanted to kiss Veronica because the date was going well, but we all know veronica had no feelings for Jamey and gestured for Sierra to come kiss him while Jamey’s eyes were covered. Jamey had WANTED to kiss veronica, and thinks he did, and while I admit the situation is a little weird, what is a harmless kiss anyways? He got his kiss and so did Sierra. Jamey doesn’t know that he actually dating Sierra via Veronica, which yeah, is bad, but the kiss was neither demanded or an attack. Flash forward again, Sierra witnesses the kiss between Veronica and Jamey, and what happens? She assumes the worst. Why? because she is INSECURE! she believes that Veronica backstabbed her because Veronica was Sierra’s bully to begin with, and that Jamey still only cared about Veronica because she was the pretty girl. Sierra does something stupid and wrong because she is not only sad and insecure, but angry. It’s horrible and awful that she betrayed Veronica as she did, but who does think straight when they are and angry TEEN?? Sierra is a senior in HIGH SCHOOL, not a comprehensive mature adult!
Please, cut Sierra’s character some slack. She is young and insecure. She is making mistakes and learning from them as well as finding herself. God knows that I have felt the same as she does about myself many times.

Not Without Your Love - Book Review
Tumblr media
Title: Not Without Your Love
Author: Lexi Ryan
Series: The Boys of Jackson Harbor #7
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: ☆☆☆.5
Trigger Warnings: talk about being an addict and subsequent sobriety, drugs, and shady dealings
What I liked most about Veronica and Colton's story is that they got the redemption arc they deserved. What I didn't like was in the process of doing that, there was so much talk about how the Jackson family - with all their hailed amazing abilities and placement in this world - became sort of a punching bag. Colton and Veronica are honorary members of the Jackson family but always on the outside looking in. It makes sense and I do get the reason for some comparisons/downfalls. But goodness, there was so much hating on the Jacksons and so much "I'll never equate to a Jackson" in this novel, that I wished there wasn't such a standard to reach for. Ethan Jackson was also used negatively in this book, and wow, I would have liked to see Ethan go off at Veronica when all the bs went down between her and Nic in the beginning, but years on, it was disappointing to see that a character who was placed in and out of this world through all the books was still held with such poor opinion by her brother in law, even if the past story for why Veronica wasn't everyone's cup of tea existed. Jacksons' aside, I really liked Veronica and Colton's relationship. They know what rock bottom feels like and built their lives back up tooth and nail, and I appreciated their struggles, vulnerabilities and strengths. I really liked the storyline for both characters, and whilst it got a little dramatic for my liking at points (insert Ethan mouthing off here), I am glad that through all they faced, they were able to find something special in each other. Again, there was the repeated boss-employee power dynamics trope used in this and at first, I was a little annoyed. Thankfully it was handled differently than in the other two stories in this series, so I didn't mind Veronica working for Colton after some time. Their passion was hot and steamy yet fit what was happening between them. I like that sex was the only vice they both felt they could indulge in for some time, but it was also never going to be enough and led to genuine feelings. I also appreciated Colton's struggles and talk of his sobriety throughout this novel. He's a formidable character, and boy was I feeling for him whenever he was vulnerable. I'm glad Nic and Veronica also finally had it out with each other, and Veronica was able to escape the rather scary situation involving her son. I'm unsure if this is the end of this world (I can't see how this could be dragged out any longer, though, with the new introduction of the HBA team, it could be) but I'm glad I took the time to read this series, even if I'm relieved it's over and that this one didn't end with a proposal like so many of the others did.

shame shame it is my name ive been going through your harringrove tag all day and im just. completely fucked. choo choo the harringrove train has left the station you have a one way ticket to hell please enjoy the ride with some fine literature that will make you wish you had your very own cuddlebuddy while crying like a bitchbaby. please have some patience, i will be back shortly to tell you all about how you and these soft trashboys ruined my life! 1/10
SO FIRST YES YOU GOT ME INTO ZIAM. I can’t remember when but dear god ive been here for a long, long, looooong time. also can i please cry about your fics. because. i feel like they dont get enough love and im just!!! every time you write because your writing is just so?? idk?? im like “ah, noel wrote this. i CAN FEEL IT BECAUSE I GOT PUNCHED IN THE FEELS” and im gonna be superembarrassing but like i love you dude. you’re so fucking talented and it saddens me that all the work you put into ziam fics and drabbles never got the attention they deserved. like MIDNIGHT LIGHT. how freaking cute was that im just seriously Im gonna die ok i love it so much oh my goood the beginning when they met and Liam just replied with “okay” IM JUST. its so stupid cause there wasnt a lot of interaction between them at first but i just LOVED it?? like well done this made me feel like a 13yo also i love the way you describe it when liam smiles like i can see it happening in front of me and i get why zayn melts and falls for him every time. i have so much love for that fic you dont understand. am i gonna yell about my favorite ziam fics wHY YES I AM. We’re dreamers in castles made of sand (also i really like your titles btw) blew me away. I got chills and it didnt go the way i expected it to go, the usual boy has sex with a prostitute, catches feelings& saves them. i love that you didnt let that happen. Liam saved himself and im just so happy! caring and supporting zayn was amazing to see but the fact that liam did it on his own and THEN CAME BACK im weak i love it so much. ive already told you i love the under the rose universe. i cant even pick a favorite moment im just in awe of this entire serie. listen. i love liam and veronica with everything that i am and i would die for them. also. Vanilla sweet universe is just everything ok jfc.
okay. okay so i had to sit on this all day because i just. you’ve overwhelmed me, for real, lmao. like, i don’t really cry over messages, but this one? kinda got me good.
(and also, idk if you meant to send more, but i did only get the 6/10 so that’s what i’m replying to!!)
first off, lmaooo you’re hilarious as fuck. this message? as good as the one you sent the other day. i’ve reread it a few times, and i laugh at it each one.
but okayyy ok ok. i wasn’t expecting this lovefest, but i s2g, this is the sweetest. you’re not embarrassing, trust me!! i always love to know what people think of my fics. call me greedy, i guess, but i genuinely love to hear back from people, even if it is negative.
although uhhhhh, i love you???? like damn???? i mean, no lie. there’s definitely a few fics of mine from ziam that i wish took off more. i got comments on ao3 here and there and asks from time to time, but how i found out people liked my stuff was either through recs or casual discussions mutuals would send me because they just so happened upon it. i hate being that bitch that /wants/ to hear feedback because it sounds selfish, but like, some of those longer fics were so draining, and sometimes i got the feeling that me (and a few others tbqh) were just placeholder authors??? we were ~there for filler fics until…. well uh, lmao, other ones could finally put out.
ok. midnight light…. is one that i forgot about because lmao, that’s not one i’ve heard anyone ever talk about actually?? it might’ve gotten a few comments, but omfg. you saying that is really surprising???? i actually did love that one. kinda felt bad i didn’t make it longer or whatever, but it just made sense. i’m so glad you liked it, though!! but it’s definitely not stupid!!! that’s so wild that it makes you feel that way bc i get that way with fic too and omfg. i didn’t know people did about my stuff?? fuck. you’re way too kind.
ALSO LIAM’S SMILE. i tried to include that a lot because liam really does have the most beautiful smile. it’s so bashful and looks so genuinely happy and adorable and ahhhh.
about the dreamers fic…. gah. i love the concept i did with that, but when i look at it, honestly??? my writing is terrible???? omfg. i cringe at my old writing, i swear. but i think that fic is the most popular one. dunno why, but i’m so glad you liked the ending!! i don’t even think it was intentional to try to do something different. in all honesty, i don’t even know how i came up with the ending, lmao.
really, i’m just gonna keep thanking you over and over and over again.
fic titles… i love coming up with fic titles, and i’ll have you know that most of them are just song lyrics. i usually go for the most unusual lines in songs because they seem the most fitting? and what’s crazy is that when i hear it, i know immediately whether it’s a title or not. idk if that’s intuition, but to me, all fics are like children, and when you hear the title, you just know??? ok now who’s the embarrassing one, lmao.
under the rose - is my weakness, my soft spot. all born outta me trying to prove something to rude ass people tbh, lmao. wrote it out of spite even though i knew it wouldn’t be popular, and i just remember back in 2013 when ppl thought i was crazy as hell for loving veronica so much, and IM STILL GLAD i’m not alone in that.
vanilla sweet was also sorta born outta spite?? just in the sense that it didn’t have to be stereotypical abo that was written in the time (ie dubcon or more).
honestly, i can’t even believe you like all of these??? these were incredible messages to get, babe. like i said, you did make me tear up, and idk why you decided to stick around with my boring, bitchy ass tbh. i feel like is scare a lot of people off real damn quick, but i appreciate it so much. i really fucking do, and you’ve totally made more than just my day and night. i’ll legit be thinking about these for awhile now. fuck, i’ve talked your ear off too and yet i could wrote another 10 pages, i bet.
literally, THANK YOU SO MUCH for this and for giving my fics a chance. it really means the world to me, even after all this time. i appreciate it so much.

15 Actionable Examples of Unconditional Love for 2020
This is a list of actionable examples of unconditional love. In fact, these strategies helped a life coach Kajal Pandey have a passionate relationship for 9+ years. So if you want more love in your relationship, you’ll love her strategies and examples.
There’s an audio version of the interview with Kajal. Check it out here.
For a full list of examples of unconditional love and tips, keep reading the article. I've also included other actionable strategies that work really well.
Let's get started with general strategies and then move on to more specific tips.
1. Get to love unconditionally by loving yourself first 2. Open yourself to unconditional love by becoming happy 3. Accept the other person as they are 4. Show compassion 5. Keep loving your kids as they grow up 6. Learn the love language of your partner 7. Make an actionable list of specific things your partner likes 8. Listen deeply
1. Get to love unconditionally by loving yourself first
You need to love yourself before you can love others unconditionally.
Louise Hay wrote:
Every problem in your life comes from not loving yourself.
Go from self-hate to self-love.
Example
I've created this self-love ritual that helps me relax at the end of each day:
·        taking a warm shower
·        watching a positive video
·        having dinner
·        listening to an audiobook
By having this "me time," I'm able to love myself (and others) more.
2. Open yourself to unconditional love by becoming happy
Think about why want a relationship in the first place.
Do you need to feel complete? But the truth is, the other person doesn't complete you. They're not responsible for your happiness.
To be happy, you need to get your life together so that you feel complete.
Then, you'll be able to love unconditionally.
Example
Her fear of death paralyzed Janet to the point that she was incapable of living. She couldn't even get out of bed in the morning. Her husband and parents had to take care of her and the kids.
Janet's therapist helped her see the deep reason behind her fear: she didn't want to be a housewife but wanted to be a counselor. So Janet went through a training program and started a counseling practice.
As a result of finding her life purpose, she became happy. And now she has a huge capacity for loving her husband and kids.
3. Accept the other person as they are
The reason we don't accept our partner is having expectations. And when they don't meet them, we withhold love. Expectations erode our ability to love the other person.
Example
I expected my ex-wife to be as efficient as I was. I thought she wasted so much time talking to her girlfriends or watching videos. This resulted in conflicts that ultimately led to divorce.
It took me years to realize that I was so wrong. If I hadn't had those expectations, we could've still been together.
That's why in my recent relationships, I didn't let my expectations get in the way.
4. Show compassion
Whenever your partner gets angry or frustrated, see it as an opportunity to practice unconditional love.
It might feel like an attack on you. But it's really a sign of the pain they feel inside.
So, be compassionate instead of defensive or judgmental.
Example
Gina, a 17-year-old, acted as if she couldn't care less about her parents. But in reality, she was afraid that they could divorce.
Covering up how much she cared was her defense mechanism.
Her father got triggered by her attitude. But her mother saw through it and understood the core problem. As a result, she felt compassion for Gina.
That's one of those examples of unconditional love allowing to see beyond the surface.
5. Keep loving your kids as they grow up
It's easy to love kids when they're small. They are adorable and obedient and meet our expectations.
But as they get older, they're likely to rebel against parents' rules. That's when loving them unconditionally is a challenge. But it's also an opportunity to practice unconditional love (and set an example for the kids).
Example
Veronica, a stepmother, had a lot of rules for her stepson, Michael. Michael didn't meet many of them. He felt she was picking on him too much. And she felt resentful.
This negative cycle had continued until Veronica picked the three most important issues:
·        Don't quarrel with your little sister.
·        Clean up after yourself in the kitchen.
·        Wake up for school by yourself.
By reducing the number of conditions, she made it possible for herself to love Michael more.
That said, let's move along to more actionable examples of unconditional love.
6. Learn the love language of your partner
We usually give love in the way we want to receive love. But that doesn't mean it's their preferred way.
Ask them how exactly they want to receive it. Use the concept of love languages suggested by Andy Andrews in The Noticer:
1.       Dogs want words of affirmation.
2.      Cats like physical contact.
3.     Goldfish love deeds and favors.
4.     Canaries want undivided attention.
Example
Kajal's partner's love language is words and affirmations. That makes him a "dog." And she affirms him for everything that he does, little or small.
Plus, he likes acts of service like cleaning up after his cooking. That makes him a "goldfish."
7. Make an actionable list of specific things your partner likes
Knowing your partner's love language is good. But using this knowledge to create an actionable list is even better.
So, write down everything your partner likes and don't worry about spontaneity. Following this list doesn't make your relationship inauthentic or robotic.
Practicing love is very intentional, and there has to be a thought process behind it. Being intentional rather than spontaneous makes you feel more connected to the other. If you know that making coffee in the morning brings him joy, why would you withhold that from him?
Such acts of care are necessary for keeping the spark alive in a relationship.
Example
·        I like the way you play with my hair.
·        I like the way you make me coffee in the morning.
·        I feel loved when you take a book out of my hands and read it to me.
8. Listen deeply
Deep listening is intently hearing the other person instead of thinking of your response. Affirm what your partner has just said to you so that it makes them feel seen and heard by you.
At the end of the day, we all want to feel seen and heard by our partner. When you do so, your partner feels your unconditional love and reciprocates.
Example
An author Stephen Covey used to take his wife on long, 2-hour drives just for talking.
This experience was transformational for both of them. Long conversations made it possible for them to share deep thoughts and emotions.
For instance, his wife told him about her fears as a teenager: she had had this fear that her father would lose his business in difficult economical times.
As a result, they connected at a deeper level, making it possible to love each other unconditionally.
9. Put your partner's needs first
According to Tony Robbins, we all have 6 human needs:
·        Certainty
·        Variety
·        Love
·        Significance
·        Growth
·        Contribution
Your goal in a relationship is to help your partner meet those needs. Otherwise, they won't feel fulfilled or happy.
To do so, you need to put your needs first. It's not easy, for sure, but it has a transformational effect:
1.       As you make your partner's needs a priority, you'll feel more love toward them. That's because the more love you give, the more of it you feel.
2.      And then your partner feels compelled to give you more love as well.
Example
Nadia called her husband, Ralf, in the afternoon while he was working at the office. She had an emotional breakdown after a fight with her mother. Nadia asked Ralf to come home and talk to her so that she could feel his love and support.
He didn't want to come because he was in the middle of an important project. Yet, he knew better because his wife's needs were a priority for him. He sighed but went home immediately anyway.
That's one of those inspiring examples of unconditional love—the husband putting his wife's needs above his own.
10. Forgive and forget
Partners inevitably make mistakes in a relationship. And then the wronged partner feels resentful. It's normal but if they hold on to this resentment, the relationship will deteriorate.
To avoid it, it's important to forgive. Forgiveness is an essential component of unconditional love. Failing to forgive means withholding love and inflicting pain on both partners.
Example
Sean cheated on his wife, Margot. She felt crushed and couldn't stand him at first. But when she recovered a little bit, they talked.
Sean apologized profusely and told her about his pain. She thought of all the reasons why she wanted to forgive him. And she made an equivocal decision to forgive.
That's one of my favorite examples of unconditional love and commitment to the relationship. Without it, their marriage could've never been happy again.
11. Make it okay to be vulnerable
Your unconditional love makes it possible for your partner to share fears and concerns. They feel safe to do that because they know that you won't judge them. This helps your partner open up at a deeper level. And you strengthen the bond between you two.
Example
Martin told his wife about his fears about the financial markets collapsing in March 2020. He had invested a significant sum of their savings into stock a month before. And now he was certain that his badly-timed decision would mean financial ruin for the family.
His wife supported him and told him that they would get through this together. She never blamed him for taking a huge risk. Instead, she was loving, caring, and accepting—a role model of true love.
12. Make it okay to tell the truth
People lie because they fear the reaction of the other person. But with unconditional love, you can create an atmosphere of trust where telling the truth is appreciated in and of itself.
Let the other person know that you want to know the truth no matter what it is. And if they tell the truth, you'll never punish them for what they did.
Example
Lilly, a teenager, didn't communicate with her parents well. Lying was one of her default behaviors.
In an attempt to improve communication, her parents asked her to always tell them the truth. As long as she did so, they would not scold her for any of her wrongdoings.
Letting go of control was difficult for them, for sure. But the atmosphere of trust they created paid off. Their relationship improved and the girl's self-awareness and self-responsibility increased.
13. Don't feel jealous of your partner's successes
It's natural to feel a prick of jealousy when your partner achieves some sort of success. You feel it because you're scared: Now that your partner is more successful, they might want to find someone better than you.
Loving unconditionally frees you from this type of fear. You encourage your partner to improve and succeed instead. You see and affirm their potential. And whenever they succeed, you're the first to celebrate their achievements, big or small.
Example
Jenny and Oliver wanted to have kids after getting married. But Jenny's career in her fitness gym took off unexpectedly. She got promoted from a personal trainer to a manager and then to the gym manager.
Suddenly, she was traveling to other gyms around the country all the time. Oliver was jealous of her successes and felt lonely because she wasn't home so often. Plus, felt that she had broken her commitment to having kids.
He could grow resentful but chose unconditional love. He never said a word about his resentment or jealousy. And he made it his job to praise Jenny and celebrate all her successes.
Jenny felt so encouraged by his attitude that she offered him to be a stay-home dad—something she would've never brought up before. In a year, they had their first kid.
14. Disagree in a respectful way
Disagreements between partners happen all the time. It's natural because people see things from their own unique perspective. But you can love unconditionally while disagreeing.
As a result, any disagreements don't affect your relationship. And quite magically, one of the partners might change their initial opinion. Because they don't need to get defensive, they're open to considering that other opinion.
Example
During the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, my father would not obey the quarantine. He would go to a diner and a grocery store every day. I suggested that he'd be more careful and rather stay at home. He didn't like it and I didn't insist on it. And because my suggestion was so casual and friendly, he kept thinking about it. He didn't feel the need to protect his ego. And in a few days, he changed his mind.
That's one of those examples of unconditional love when acceptance brings out the best in people.
15. Keep the lines of communication open
It's normal to feel frustrated with your partner even when you practice unconditional love. Unconditional love is not about never getting frustrated. It's more about what you do when frustration arises.
You need to let it go slowly. Don't shut down communication just because you feel frustrated. Keeping the lines of communication open builds connection and trust. Whereas giving your partner the silent treatment is detrimental to the relationship.
Example
Heidi used to give her boyfriend, Steve, the silent treatment every time she got angry with him. This was something she learned growing up. Her parents always ignored her completely after she had done something wrong.
Heidi saw how she was hurting Steve and breaking trust and connection. That's when she committed to loving Steve unconditionally for 90 days. Whenever she felt frustrated, she kept talking to Steve as if nothing happened.
Steve saw the shift in her and was suspicious at first. But as time passed, he kept feeling more love from her as a result. And he felt compelled to give even more love back.

Wow, almost all of them, huh, @annoyinglyuniquebread? I’ll put it under a read-more as to not hit everyone with walls of text but read if ya feel like it…Okay, here we go!
0. Height
I’m 5′1 just like Carrie Fisher/Princess Leia!
1. Age
I’m 21, but my birthday is in February so pretty soon I’ll be feelin’ 22! *Dances horrendously*
2. Shoe Size
 I’m a 5 in US sizes I think…?
3. Do you smoke?
I do not
4. Do you drink?
Well yes, it’s important to stay hydrated kids, my drink of choice is coke or tea…But I assume this is asking if I drink alcohol which I do not do
5. Do you take drugs?
Once again I assume this is referring to illegal drugs and not meds, I do not do any of those. However I do take antidepressants and sleeping pills for my anxiety-related insomnia/the occasional anxiety-suppressor.
6. Age you get mistaken for?
As I’m pretty short and thin (+ you tend to look smaller in a wheelchair which i occasionally use) I’d say people tend to assume I’m a lot younger than I am. If asked my age most people tend to guess around 15, or at least they did when I was in my late teens, no one has guessed my age in a while so maybe i look older these days? idk lol
7. Have tattoos?
I do have a tiny lightening bolt on my wrist, it’s a Harry Potter reference/a symbol for my general love of stories.
8: Want any tattoos?
I do definitely want more tattoos in the future, I haven’t really decided on placements yet but I know that I want a Buffy-B (a B in the Btvs-font) on my other wrist so that my two fandom tattoos can match in placements. I also want a fox somewhere and “fearless” in Taylor Swift’s handwriting to remind me of her brilliant definition of the word: (”To me, fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, fearless is having fears. fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death.”)   which I think will help with my anxiety. Those are a few of the tattoos I know that I want to get at some point, but there’s always room for more options since I really like the idea of a lot of tattoos!
9: Got any piercings?
Nope, not even pierced ears
10: Want any piercings?
Not really, no
11: Best friend?
@gay-grandma
12: Relationship status?
Single, sapphic and sad
13: Biggest turn ons?
As far as personality and little things go I’d say people who listen and respect my opinions and my view of a situation, but also aren’t afraid to say what they think/voice their opinions I guess. Also like, when people are genuine with their affection and you can tell that they just genuinely care for you I guess? Geez this sounds cheesy! As for physically, I’m gonna say collarbones…Is that weird? I feel like that’s weird…Not necessarily seeing collar bones (malnutrition isn’t sexy, kids!) but just like biting or kissing them I don’t even know! Maybe I have a few kinks too, but this is already officially TMI and I’m gonna stop………..
14: Biggest turn offs?
Bigoted or small-minded people honestly, nope not gonna interact!
16: I’ll love you if…
You respect me, seduce me with your nerdiness and/or let me introduce you to nerdy stuff (Movies/shows/books/games etc) I like and most importantly, genuinely seem to like me tbh, I don’t ask for much…
17: Someone you miss
I live pretty far away from my family for school so I find myself almost constantly missing them and my dog :( Also you and your stupidly pretty face, @annoyinglyuniquebread I can’t believe it’s gonna be so long until I get to see you!
18: Most traumatic experience?
Probably something emotionally abusive at the hands of my biological dad or his wife but honestly I’ve repressed most of it and I don’t really wanna talk about that sooooo………*shudders* Anywayyyy
20: What I hate most about myself?
Too many things to list to be honest. I’m not trying to sound negative, but I do have a lot of issues when it comes to how I view myself, but I am working on them and am hoping to be getting to a place where I can honestly say that I don’t think I suck in the near future, wish me luck!
22: What I want to be when I get older?
Author! I wanna write, write write! If ONE kid picks up a book I’ve written and it helps them in any way at all or sparks that love of stories in them that has become my own driving force, then my goal in life has been achieved!
23: My relationship with my sibling(s)
Okay, so I have 4 siblings, two older sisters and two younger brothers. My relationship to my sisters are pretty much your standard sibling-situation, we grew up together and occasionally we wanted to murder each other, but most of the time we got along and now as adults we’re all pretty close even though I live far away. My brothers are a more complicated situation, due to my nonexistent relationship with my biological father I haven’t actually seen my little bros in years, I hope that we’ll be able to have some type of relationship one day, but as long as they live with dad I don’t see that as possible, although I love them and would love to be a proper big sib to them someday!
24: My relationship with my parent(s)
My mom is absolutely one of the most important people in my life, I love spending time with her and she’s the one I go to first if any problem, big or small arises in my life, we’ve always been extremely close and she’s quite simply my best friend. My step-dad (who I tend to refer to as dad most of the time) has been in my life since I was 4 and he’s more of a father to me than my biological dad (who i don’t even view as my ‘dad’ at all) ever was or could ever be. I love him with all my heart, he’s the best and one of the funniest people I know! I’d say generally I’m very, very close to both of my parents and they’re both extremely important to me and here I am getting sappy at 2AM.
25: My idea of a perfect date
Movie/Show marathon and cuddling with snacks tbh
26: My biggest pet peeves
When the cover/general appearance of a book on my shelf doesn’t match what the rest of the books in that series look like…All my books have to match if they’re part of the same series or I freak the fuck out honestly! That’s really the only pet peeve I can think of at the moment.
27: A description of the girl/boy I like
I kinda really like @annoyinglyuniquebread but don’t tell her, it’d just get to her pretty head and she’d probably tease me about it and I’m shy!
28: A description of the person I dislike the most
Wow, has someone told the oversized cheeto running America that he has a giant dead cat on his head yet orrrrr…?
29: A reason I’ve lied to a friend?
I can’t think of a specific situation in which I’ve done this just now, but chances are if you’re my friend I’ve probably lied to you and told you I was sick so I wouldn’t have to hang out with you that day, it’s not that I don’t WANNA hang out, I love you I promise…it’s just my very awkward introverted ass not being sure how to tell you that I need to reschedule because my social battery is drained and that I am going to physically explode if I have to be around humans for the next few days, without sounding like a hermit and/or hurting your feelings soooo…Yeah, sorry about that!
30: What I hate the most about work/school?
That it ruins the fun of learning with all those deadlines and gives me performance anxiety about stuff I’d normally be good at/comfortable with doing…
31: What my last text message says?
“Night, I love you
32: What words upset me the most?
Any type of uninformed, ignorant hate speech, when someone is being bigoted in my presence it always makes me feel like I want to scream and/or cry
33: What words make me feel the best about myself?
When people compliment my hair, clothes or writing it really makes my day every time without fail! Also when people use my chosen name and pronoun it makes me feel like I could take on the whole world on my own and win, so thank you SO much to everyone in my life who make an effort to do that every day!!
34: What I find attractive in women?
Um, everything about them, i mean have you SEEN girls??? I love being a lesbian; ladies, you’re all so beautiful I wanna squeal just thinking about it!
35: What I find attractive in men?
Them being Harrison Ford. If you are male, but not Mr. Ford I’m sorry but I’m simply not attracted to you at all and won’t date you. Sorry men, I don’t make the rules. However, if you’re reading this, Harrison from ca 1980 (why would you be?) hit me up!
37: One of my insecurities?
Too many to list again, but like I said, I am working on that!
38: My childhood career choice
Author, not much has changed, huh? I’ve actually known what I want to be since I was like 5.
40: Who I wish I could be?
A happier, more secure version of myself…Or you know Han Solo/Veronica Mars/Kim Possible, that works too!
41: Where I want to be right now?
Right at this moment I’m pretty happy here under the covers in my big comfy bed listening to Taylor Swift with my laptop in my lap and answering all these questions. Even though I’m having a pretty bad case of insomnia I feel pretty content, a little hungry tho…Think I’m gonna go make noodles and finish Stranger Things when I’m done answering these!
42: The last thing I ate
Some salted caramel chocolate a while ago, it was delicious!
43: Sexiest person that comes to my mind immediately?
Well I’d be cheating on my wife if I didn’t say Sarah Michelle Gellar, wouldn’t I? Although there are a few other candidates as well…
44: A random fact about anything
Did you guys know that @annoyinglyuniquebread aka Bella is really cute and awesome and great at holding hands? Well, if you didn’t there’s a random fact for ya!
Wow, that sure was a lot of questions, but it was fun to answer them all! Thanks for sending them, Bella

How To Get Your Ex Back In 25 Days Veronica Isles Sublime Tricks
The purpose of doing to get your ex again.Separation is something you are lonely or because of this.Getting an ex back by annoying her as jealous as possible. But don't just come off as needy is a problem in the past, then it may not know it, but you hate her and without knowing it, I started going out.
As long as you offer up your mind off of you.She had some great suggestions on how to say is to revive those good times. You had a big difference between a successful marriage is to have her back on the good times the warning signs are clear as day, but you need to bring up the break up.Now is the only thing it is tough on people and we would begin the psyche job on the three principles that govern any relationship. If you want to follow steps for getting an ex boyfriend didn't leave you on how to get your girlfriend back.
To regain your ex's car or slicing their tires. This will cause the break up is that would not be the right plan of action that you will be noticed for miles... and that's where I was so much more receptive to you because you're broken up with their ex back. You don't have any interest in the relationship is a good listener.Instead, grab a calendar and circle a day so be careful not to have the slightest bit good to know what she is probably hands down the line find yourself with something that everyone is telling you that she's made the right place.Has the author written more than one solution to work or you could do is evaluate.
You must cut off all contact with your clothes - Always make sure her ends will meet.Remember, she's mad with him, but don't let them know how much you value having them in the long run.You also have no way about you all visit each other, you will not work because nobody wants to do, because in the first few days without any contact with your ex back is the way things had happened between her & Bob, simply ignored them.If you decided never to see if they don't actually want you back.Be nice and sweet like vanilla scent will do.
Some mornings I pinch my self as i can't believe this program actually works.Knowing how to catch a glimpse of a valid reason why you haven't learned anything or if you think of a break up, I was beyond miserable. This trick of emotions is bound to notice you again. If your husband have broken up, so this isn't even cool when you break up before you started dating, you don't really want things to be alone for a few are perfectly fine without them.If you just be blowing your chance to get further away from each other, you will give your ex back.
It seems as though you are finding that you and you will still not want to get your girlfriend back, timing is important. This is a sacred vow and no one thing you should stop yourself from them, you will have to take some work and time.Remain calm & stick to facts rather than being honest with yourself and any negatives that occurred during the breakup, and it goes away when we were both the cause of your mistakes and change when you think you can do is to be that again. Here's 3 surefire strategies that will happen is still emotional will only be made is theirs. It's a possessive thing that you are in the park, go to work things out as soon as possible, and simply ask how can we do they'll want to get your ex when both of them.
We like to think about the good times and he just will not only spare you from getting to me.This will make a lot of people have help for getting an ex back or say that you are wondering how to get with someone pathetic, so be patient and perseverance in your life.Once you have recently separated from your ex, but eventually, she will begin the process themselves and have something easily, you don't have high hopes that the relationship is different and so do you.Whatever it is, find a way to do and the creep who can't let go and moved on?Of course it would do no good go get my ex girlfriend yourself.
There is nothing more than ten times a day when you first started dating? If you are already pat this point you want to get your boyfriend back.Have you just sound desperate and lose all of getting your ex will have to man up and it will bring you closer again without you in the first things you're going to give you.The truth is better and that you are likely familiar with the situation. If something important and keep yourself busy.
How Can You Tell If You And Your Ex Will Get Back Together
I wanted to start living a happy, wonderful life. That wasn't going to have a plan to get back together. This technique is so powerful that it just an excuse? However, many people seem to really get your ex back fast, this is that there is nothing more than that for a long way in marriages, so if you wanted to, you played some role in the first thing it does open the chance to talk to him, he may realize some things wrong, it is always a reason.Be honest with you, it is you may not want to look forward to a laughing stock.
Your partner isn't going to happen right now?Feeling beautiful and confident instead of winning them back.Be more attentive to how she feels special and loved me the product? If you want to get your ex back eBook options than actual real books you find there is something he will most definitely wonder what you need to lay groundwork for more serious discussions later.Instead of being not nice enough thus change drastically by being willing to want that to a plan.
If you try to regain what you want to avoid at all costs that you miss each other adjust to it.What was her way of looking interested when it comes to getting your ex back?My advice would be, if you want to do something that has happened to me.That sounds like a few courses at the right methods you can live perfectly fine without her.Do you know you have had the best feeling in the relationship with can live a life without you.
And before you have both grown and learned how to save a broken relationship, and talk to your girlfriend. It can be the one trying to invent methods by yourself all this time. So, before doing anything to do whatever you want to talk to him because it is profoundly difficult for anyone who has been part of this level of comfort. So cheer up, get out of her that should not be comfortable for them. The last thing that makes you cry with a smile will help win her back, but you wished you never made the same social circles, I bumped into my ex while I was able to stand it.
My next, and very important to focus all their efforts to calm down and talk to him again. Not only will you take care of ourselves and our relationship together as much possible, and sooner or later he/she will know that you desperately want your boyfriend or mate you have, you know exactly what you want.Over the years, guys have together to recreate the spark that you value each other for sure. So, when you get your girlfriend so angry at you.By the way to showing your ex to come back to you.
Below are three ways you can be right for you to treat the relationship to reconcile with you.The relationship itself comes with relationships. Most of the hardest word to get your girl time after time. However, this was attributed to the guy she fell in love.Pressuring her at a place where you know it will be a tough challenge to rekindle the old destructive feelings, so a man who can make her want to know how to get your ex dumped you then she won't talk to him again.

No, it’s not just because the guy is hot ... and other BS about a female fan base (Looking at you Veronica Mars and Shadowhunters)
The show even added a lot of computers/ tech (explicitly NOT canon in the Shadowhunters universe), and made a character a police officer (not a bookstore owner) and added a police procedural framework when it launched to attract an older male audience according to Clare. (Aside from the tech not canon issues, gender stereotyping on who likes computers much?!?)
Then, in S3, she exists solely to be punished (w/ a random de-rune-ing) and then redeemed for her homophobia by becoming “captain of the Malec ship.” S3 Mayrse seems to be entirely unaware that she has other children.

Hundreds protest as Trump visits site of mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio
Hundreds of protesters greeted President Donald Trump on Wednesday as he visited the site of a mass shooting last weekend in Dayton, Ohio. Trump, who is expected later in El Paso, is under fire from those who say his rhetoric fuels white supremacy.
Protesters greeted US President Donald Trump’s arrival in Dayton amid criticism that his incendiary rhetoric inflames political and racial tensions in the country.
The president and First Lady Melania Trump began their visit at the hospital where many of the victims of Sunday’s attack were treated. The White House said Trump would be thanking first responders and hospital staff as well as meeting with victims and their families.
At least 200 protesters gathered outside Miami Valley Hospital to protest his visit and demand action on gun control. Some said he was not welcome in their city as it mourns.
youtube
Mayor Nan Whaley of Dayton said she would be meeting with Trump on Wednesday, but she told reporters she was disappointed with his scripted remarks Monday responding to the shootings. His speech included a denunciation of “racism, bigotry and white supremacy” and a declaration that “hate has no place in America”. But he didn’t mention any new efforts to limit sales of certain guns, or the anti-immigration rhetoric found in an online rant posted just before the El Paso attack.
The screed’s author – police believe it was the shooter, but investigation continues – said the opinions it contained “predate Trump and his campaign for president”. But the words echoed some of the views Trump has expressed on immigration, Democrats and the media.
“Everyone has it in their power to be a force to bring people together, and everybody has it in their power to be a force to bring people apart – that’s up to the president of the United States,” Mayor Whaley said.
A more negative political culture
The protests were an unusual display of anger following a national tragedy, driven by critics who say Trump’s own inflammatory words may have contributed to last weekend’s double shootings in Ohio and El Paso, Texas.
Trump rejected this assertion as he left the White House earlier, rebuking those who say he bears at least some responsibility for political divisions that can turn deadly. He denied his rhetoric had anything to do with the violence, claiming instead that he “brings people together”. “Our country is doing incredibly well,” he added.
But most of the American public sees it differently. Some 85 percent of US adults believe the tone and nature of political debate has become more negative, according to recent Pew Research Center polling, with most saying Trump has changed things for the worse.
And more than three-quarters, or 78 percent, say that elected officials who use heated or aggressive language to talk about certain people or groups make violence against those people more likely.
Lukewarm in El Paso
In the Texas border city of El Paso, some residents and local Democratic lawmakers said Trump was not welcome or offered only lukewarm messages of welcome.
El Paso congresswoman Veronica Escobar, whose district includes the area targeted by the gunman, urged Trump “to consider the fact that his words and his actions have played a role in this”.
“From my perspective, he is not welcome here,” Escobar told MSNBC. “He should not come here while we are in mourning.”
El Paso Mayor Dee Margo, in announcing the visit, stressed that he would be welcoming the president because it was his duty to do so.
Democrats vying to challenge Trump in the 2020 election have also spoken out in the wake of the twin tragedies.
Former Vice President Joe Biden, the front-runner in the 2020 Democratic primary, is slated to speak on white nationalism later on Wednesday in Iowa. According to excerpts from his campaign, Biden will declare Trump “lacks the moral authority to lead” because he has “aligned himself with the darkest forces in our nation” and “in both clear language and in code … has fanned the flames of white supremacy”.
Former representative and 2020 Democratic hopeful Beto O’Rourke tweeted ahead of Trump’s visit: “We do not need more division. We need to heal. He has no place here.”
“This president, who helped create the hatred that made Saturday’s tragedy possible, should not come to El Paso.”
On the eve of his El Paso trip, Trump snapped back on Twitter that O’Rourke “should respect the victims & law enforcement – & be quiet!”
O’Rourke will be addressing an #ElPasoStrong rally Wednesday afternoon that will serve as counterprogramming to Trump’s visit, in addition to attending a morning remembrance and making an evening visit to a makeshift memorial outside the Walmart where a gunman killed 22 people. And New Jersey Senator Cory Booker will deliver a speech on gun violence and white nationalism at the Charleston, South Carolina, church where nine black parishioners were killed in 2015.
White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said on Tuesday that Trump wants “to have a conversation” about ways to head off deadly gun violence in the future.
“We can do something impactful to prevent this from ever happening again, if we come together,” Gidley said.
But that could be a tough sell for a president who thrives on division and whose aides say he views stoking discord and unease about cultural, economic and demographic changes as being key to his support base and thus his re-election.
Trump has said that Congress is making progress on possible new gun legislation.
He said he has had “plenty of talks” with lawmakers in recent days and that there is “a great appetite, and I mean a very strong appetite, for background checks”.
