FSR rambles ANOTHER ONE (It's the 22nd one)

Dark's mind reading is just, so damn fun.

Like Green is gambling SO MUCH putting his trust into Dark but it pays off because Dark can TELL Green is truly putting faith in him to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And that means A LOT to him.

The fact Green doesn't want to hurt him MEANS A LOT TO HIM.

Dark knows this man ain't stupid.

I like him giving Green a goodbye hug and a kiss on the cheek hah.

It's so sweet in a way.

And his parting words being words of affirmation for Green.

He can be a very sweet person when given kindness.

I just like them a lot.

Green was a pretty good influence on Dark. XDD

Dark Link's dramatic ass flying away is so funny to me and probably just me.

Like Dark doesn't typically fly or flex his wings much but they DO exist. XDDD

He can kinda just hover like Shadow but I don't think that's been shown even ONCE XDDDD

Dark isn't really the type to flex his magic in general though.

The Headspace IS HIS BODY which uhhh is a horror.

Time to mention: It changing from a desolate blue to that bright pink woodsy area afterward is kinda a reflection of Dark and the person he's talking to's mental space.

It'll change again later when he talks to Blue too.

Now that Dark Ran off we get an insight back into Green. Even though he technically WON this interaction? If you could word it that way, he got kinda what he wanted...He's still kinda overloaded with bullshit, poor guy.

he doesn't seem to be aware of Green at all until Green makes himself known.

Ngl. this is one of my favorite interactions its SO stupid.

The dialogue is up there in scenes that make me laugh just to read.

Like, Link my guy, did you ACTUALLY think for a SECOND that shit would work???

Link's eyes bugging out completely as he runs in terror from Green has to be up there in stupid shit. It's so ridiculous and amazing just tickles my brain lmfao. It's so dumb. XDDD

Link cycles through all 4's personalities for a second X'DD

1st panel: Vio

2nd Panel: Green

4th and 5th: Blue

6th being Red obviously

Green is so fed up with him after being kicked in the damn stomach. XDDD

Sooooo, we didn't learn a LOT from Link's appearance outside of the fact he's still lingering around within the headspace. Which is ODD because Dark hasn't brought him up or seemingly hasn't run into him...Despite Link STALKING him it seems.

Weeiiiird.

Link's adoption of the black tunic is odd to say the least. His mental state is still fractured and torn considering it's appearance.

And it dawns on me I don't think Green goes on to NEVER disclosed to anyone Link's still running around. X'DDDD (Re-reading FSR together like this is fun isn't it?)

A LOT of shit happens to where he didn't really have time to squeeze it in but it is funny this scene is still pretty up in the air on it's importance for now.

Also since this is rambles I don't have to keep secrets on who the weirdo next to Link is in the last panel.

That's FSRA Link. Which just leaves all sorts of weird implications I'll let you sit with, considering that man is from 100+ years in the future...

True to his word, Shadow is able to tell Dark was active. Oh no.

LOL also not Zelda calling Green by the wrong name. X'D Poor girl isn't used to being around the four dudes her bestie splits into. (She literally had NO idea they were split until AFTER the final battle lmfao and then they walked back to the sanctuary and boom.)

So yeah Shadow tries to wrestle Dark back because dude's a dangerous little ball of evil. XD

He SAW what he did to Vio first hand and didn't wanna have that happen to Green.

I'll never not find it funny Dark can summon his sword in that form, but literally can't even use it. X'DDDD

He also yanked Green's arm away from the sword so he didn't get hit because Dark's very attached to Green at this point.

Shadow's got beef with the little guy and Zelda making a force field, and Shadow proceeding to SMACK into it always gets a laugh it's so dumb.

Art wise it's kinda funny just how LONG Dark's tentacles are in this scene considering I shortened them later. XD

Also...Considering recent updates Dark responding violently when in danger is...Well something. XDDD

Poor Green and his savior complex-

"I can help him-" - Green about the horrific monster that tormented everyone.

Shadow even points this out but Shadow's also projecting HARD onto Dark X'DDD

"I'm an evil horrible liar so this bitch must be too" - Shadow.

Shadow personally just wants everything to be perfect and peachy and that can't happen with Dark so he wants the easy way out so to speak.

Shadow sweetie, it's not your curse. XD

(Funny we're bringing that up...Shadow Link hasn't been in the headspace at ALL...Interesting huh?)

That shit must have HURT to hear out of Green considering him and Shadow were doing MOSTLY well before that.

Green's been bottling his negative feelings towards Shadow for a LONG time now and JUST seeing what Shadow did while with Vio it was inevitable dude would snap.

Green immediately regrets what he said though.

Dark cuddling Green is always cute.

Shadow got called out and now feels like shit.

Not Zelda sitting here like "Genuinely wtf are yall talking about rn???"

He can't even argue with Green considering it was pretty true. X"D Even if it was a low blow.

Zelda blowing a hole through the castle has lead to...ISSUES.

Shadow's acting a bit ominously.

Hiiiii it's been months since I touched this lmao.

Back into the game:

Green has a lot of hesitance too, he just chooses to stuff that down in turn for a more peaceful option.

he's aware dark has caused hurt and is INSANE but wants to give him a chance.

I think in a lot of ways he regrets that Shadow never had help because they just met "Too late" in a lot of ways.

Shadow had already committed many horrible deeds before anyone had a glimpse of being able to help him.

While Dark is still very new and able to be saved from a life of regret or villainy, cause Green recognized that spark of good in him that could blossom into a good person if they give it a try.

meanwhile, Shadow's being self loathing.

...To be fair a lot of what Dark Link says DOESN'T make sense due to it being...from an outsider's perspective utter nonsense (He knows Zelda lore lmfao.) but his claims Shadow just IS ganon are clearly getting to shadow cause he's got self doubt.

Meanwhile Green tries to remind him of his progress, and thinks Shadow and Dark could have something to bond over.

Aaaand there is it boy doesn't wanna be reminded of how much he's fucked up. It's hard when there's a mirror pointed at you.

Green's still feeling bad about what he said.

And since people missed it, and I was being cheeky:

Green and Shadow did share a lil smooch.

Dark isn't happy about it. XD

To be fair, I'd be pretty pissed off if my only goal was to get a lil smooch smooch and people were handing em to lord ganon evil lord of the buttholes too.

Dark Link isn't having being shoved back into Shadow's hat.

Shadow in a moment of...idk what you'd call it, clarity I suppose decides to let him stay with Green.

it's up to the reader to assume WHY he did that.

Realizing he makes Dark Link feel unsafe, just not wanting to argue. Overall there's hesitation on his end.

So he ends up in Green's hat. XD

Green asking a reasonable question about how he's gonna go get Blue...considering his physical form is WITH Green and Shadow.

And Dark responds verbally. So far I think he's only growled in that form. XD

So uhhh, Shadow's pissed off Dark refused to speak last night. XDDD

So if you're curious: My vision for Dark in this form is that speaking is VERY difficult for him to do so he just...doesn't.

This is his dormant form, so his "Functionality" is mostly...nonexistant.

This is a form that doesn't take a lot of effort to maintain or upkeep so his actual abilities aren't very wide.

Like he CAN talk. But simple phrases and words are easiest for him to do. Which is why he repeats "Yeah yeah" twice.

Shadow also fails to realize even THIS form was a step up from the fact Dark was a simple sphere with an eye before. XD

He grew a mouth to chew on Green...So he might have had the intention to speak last night and just...didn't.

But if he wanted to speak, he could just form back to his "Link" form or drag someone to the headspace.

Overall: Shadow ya dummy he probably just didn't have anything to say XD

Green coming to Dark's defense screaming "STOP IT SHADOW YOU'RE SCARING HIM!" is so funny because I without fail imagine the "HE'S AFRAID OF SANTA CLAUS!!!" "STOP IT PATRICK YOU'RE SCARING HIM!!!" spongebob bit.

Shadow letting the whole "Dad" debacle slip and Green's fucking face to that just sends me.

He looks so...judgmental. X'D

"This is how you'd treat your son?"

Dark Link giving Green the title of his "Dad" Whatever he thinks that means...because Shadow is a bad one is just, funny as hell to me.

Dark so obviously doesn't understand blood family ties (...His entire life revolves around 4 dudes who are one guy, and that guy's shadow all being in a weird as fuck relationship so uh...who blames him for not understanding family)

Affectively, Green is just someone Dark considers his family so...he's his "dad". XD

The title switch from Shadow TO Green is due to the fact he just feels more comfortable and safe WITH Green.

...Shadow uses THIS as an example of Dark being "Unreasonable" which is something else alright. XDDD

Green taking the piss out of the whole "dad" thing is pretty damn silly...Green you ARE the daddy now. X'D

I don't think Green would have tried this shit if Dark was in his Link form. XDDD

I know in the draft comic folders I got a comic where Green treats Dark differently based on his form and how Dark doesn't understand that. (him being uncomfortable with the finger chewing in his Link disguise vs his dormant form for example) and how he thinks Green's a hypocrite.

Last panel: Shadow DEFINENTLY not trying to keep everyone thinking Dark's just insane and not saying anything important.

I'll cut it off here since getting into the Darkblue segment (As I like to call it) is gonna be interesting I think XDD

A/N: For the @hangezine! I had a lot of fun with this one, especially with Erwin and Levi in the mix (Hange is a weirdo and they only lay claim reluctantly XD). The hard part was writing the ‘kinda action but not really part’, I kept trying to find a way to summarize without summarizing as I was already well over the word count.

…

There was only one truth that mattered in the world, only one truth that was worth dying and spilling blood over. And it was for that truth that Hange marched into Erwin’s office and slammed her hands on his desk, scattering his papers. “Erwin.”

“Call me commander when you’re in my office,” Erwin reprimanded automatically, his eyes still on the report in his hands. Despite her sudden outburst, he was still as unruffled and composed as ever. “And you’re cleaning that after.”

Hange clicked her tongue. “Of all the boring, square—”

“Do you want to get kicked out?” Erwin asked, in the same tone he’d give if he were asking about the weather. He flipped a page on the report and pursed his lips, clearly not liking what he saw.

Hange closed her mouth, forcing back her expansive litany of insults. That’d have to wait till later. Today, she had a mission, and today, she was going to finally get it done. “Commander,” she bit out, her fingers digging into his desk. “We have to capture a titan.”

“You’ve asked that before,” Erwin said, still not looking at her. “The answer hasn’t changed.”

“Why not?” Hange argued, jaw set, shoulders squared. Sure, this wasn’t her first time saying this—in all honesty, she barged into his office once a week over this matter—but this would be the last time. Until she got back a yes, she refused to budge. He wasn’t the only one who could be stubborn. “It’s important.”

“I never said it wasn’t.” Setting aside the report, Erwin picked up another one. He flipped through it quickly as he spoke. “You just haven’t proven it is viable.”

She frowned. “Sometimes risks have to be taken.”

“You’re not the only one taking risks and I won’t waste resources over a fantasy.” Finally, he looked up, his expression serious. “And until you come up with an actual plan, that’s all it is.”

Despite his attitude, there was a spark in his eyes, a flame she recognized as her own. It was something she’d recognized the first time they’d met, the first time she’d opened her mouth and he’d actually listened—for all the lofty goals he claimed the Survey Corps had, they weren’t his own.

No, his were more earthy than that, more selfish. His thirst for knowledge was as deep as hers, just hidden better.

“And if I have a plan?” she asked, sensing an opening that hadn’t been there the last few months.

“Then Levi has to approve.” Erwin smirked slightly. “And then I’ll approve.”

“No,” Levi said the second she appeared in the equipment room. He hadn’t so much as looked at her, his gaze firmly set on inspecting his gear. It was something he shared in common with Erwin. Hange had never realized just how many boring men she’d surrounded herself with, but the number was already two more than the ideal.

She strode across the room, her shadow falling on him as she pouted. “I haven’t even said anything yet.”

“You spoke now,” Levi retorted, not missing a beat. “No.”

She twitched. It was worse than dealing with a brick wall. At least that would erode one day, if not shatter from brute force. “At least hear me out!”

Levi looked up at her dryly. His fingers tapped on his gear impatiently. “Get on with it.”

“Let’s capture a titan,” she said immediately, her words rushing out of her mouth and almost jumbling one another in her haste. “Between—”

“That’s even stupider than I thought.” Levi snorted, returning his attention to his maintenance. “No.”

Hange grit her teeth. “Erwin agreed.”

“He didn’t.” Levi scoffed, dismissing it out of hand.

Perceptive bastard. Hange reluctantly admitted, “Fine, he didn’t, but he will if you agree.”

“I won’t.” Levi’s reply was immediate and to the point.

“At least pretend to think about it!” Hange shouted, her voice too loud in the small room. “You tedious, tiresome square, you stingy bit—”

“Are you done yet?” Levi ground out, scowling.

“—ch, I hope your next room is full of dust and spiders.” Hange exhaled heavily before straightening. She beamed. “OK, done!”

“I hope that was worth it, four-eyes.” Levi twitched and ground his teeth, his hands curling as though he were about to punch Hange. Which he could and had done in the past.

Perhaps she should have taken a moment to think before talking. Erwin had told her to do that in the past; she had never listened. In the future, she most likely still wouldn’t listen. “Probably not but…” Hange shrugged, scratching her chin sheepishly. “Too late?”

“It is.” Without skipping a beat, Levi elbowed her in the gut.

She went down without a single gasp, the breath knocked out of her as she crumpled. Clutching her stomach, Hange wheezed as she tried to steady herself.

Levi returned to his maintenance work. His soft cloth rustled as he wiped the gears. “Get me a plan.”

Hange wasn’t sure if she heard anything. Hell, she wasn’t even certain if she was still conscious. Breathing heavily, she managed an ineloquent, “Huh?”

“It has to be viable,” Levi added, ignoring her response, “and practical. If the risk is too high, I’ll reject it.”

She blinked. Twice. Hange rubbed her ears. Levi’s expression only grew more annoyed, and she sat up immediately, forgetting her aching ribs. Processing his words, she beamed, “Then you’ll—”

“Only because Erwin is actually interested this time,” Levi interrupted, his frown growing deeper. “And only if you actually have a good plan.”

“Oh, don’t worry about that!” Hange laughed as she leaped to her feet. She clapped her hands excitedly. “I have dozens.”

Hange had dozens of plans and all of them were failures. No, that wasn’t the right word—they would all have succeeded and she knew it and Levi knew it. No, they just all were rejected by the heartless bastard who had some unseen metrics she couldn’t achieve.

That was fine. Hange still had dozens more ideas in the recesses of her brain and she’d always been an innovator, able to fine tune broken aspects and improve them. It was only a matter of time till she found one.

She just had to think of it.

So she spent her breakfast thinking about it, chewing on a piece of stale bread for almost an hour before she realized it was too hard to chew through. She spent her lunch reading up on older missions, sneezing in the dusty annals of the Survey Corps as she pulled together any clues on Titans and the surrounding geography that would help. Even when she walked through the halls, she thought about it, talking to herself and anyone unfortunate enough to cross her paths as she bounced ideas.

She didn’t stop to sleep. In the middle of the night, ideas plagued her. Hange sat up. “I got it!”

It was on the tip of her tongue, a brilliant plan, the thing that would change the course of human history and expose all of the Titans’ secrets. It was—

Two muscular arms yanked her back down, one grabbing her shoulder, the other criss-crossing her torso.

“Get the fuck to sleep, four-eyes,” Levi grunted, his voice thick with sleep. Face-down in his pillow, he turned slightly so he could glare at her with one eye, his messy bed hair doing little to soften his appearance in the moonlight.

“In the morning,” Erwin added tiredly, yawning. He got little enough sleep as it was and Hange was almost surprised to see him still in bed; he burned the midnight oil on both ends. The only workaholic that surpassed her.

“But,” she protested, trying and failing to get out of their grip. “I have an idea.”

“No, you don’t,” Levi snarled, his hand moving from her shoulder to her face as he shoved her back down.

Her voice was muffled against his calloused skin. “I do! I’ll forget!”

“Just repeat it in your mind,” Erwin mumbled, already falling back asleep. “You’ll remember.”

She forgot.

Part of her hoped it was a brilliant idea if only to guilt them. A bigger part of her was certain she had nothing and they knew it too.

By the time Levi was ready to kick her out of their shared bed, Erwin’s dark circles grew more pronounced from sleepless nights, and Hange had discovered the human limits for exhaustion, she had finally gotten Levi to approve a plan.

A tentative plan, one that had to be reworked, rewritten, and redone for a month before Erwin finally signed off on it. By the time they were finally setting up an expedition, the season changed. Leaves coloured and fell, nature’s way of reminding her that nothing was permanent, everything could change.

Even Titans, for all their power, could topple and fall. They just had to discover the lynchpin.

It was late evening when Hange visited Erwin’s office. The sun had all but disappeared outside the window, the last of its rays lighting up the sky in bright reds and oranges as though to trumpet its farewell. Erwin rubbed his forehead tiredly as he gestured for her to come closer.

“What now?” he asked, sounding like a man afraid to hear the answer.

She watched as he opened a drawer and pulled out a bottle of scotch. “Isn’t it a little too early for that?” Hange teased.

“Not when you come here.” Erwin chuckled as he set up two shot glasses. “Want one?”

“I hate the taste.” Hange grimaced as she stared at the bottle. “Sure.”

“So you’ll waste my drinks along with my resources.” Erwin smiled sardonically. “It really is shaping up to be an interesting night. So, what do you want?”

“I need to go to the site.” Hange watched as he poured her shot. Her rough hands wrapped around the smooth glass and she tapped a nail against it. “It’s not a waste. I hate drinking, but I like drinking with you.”

Erwin raised a brow. “Really?”

She shrugged. There was no way to explain this without getting soppy. “So, can I?”

He gave her a look before letting go of the other matter. “Is it that important?”

“Yeah, I need to check the location. We’ve had some heavy rains. What if my pet—” Hange cleared her throat, correcting herself. “future research subjects escape because of the mud? What if they run away?”

“I don’t think that’ll be a problem,” Erwin replied dryly, taking a sip. “And you have to be the one to inspect?”

“It’s my plan.” Hange grinned, downing her shot in one go. She wiped her mouth and grimaced. It was still too bitter.

Erwin shook his head. “At this rate, you’re going to die young.”

“Says Mr. Senior Citizen over here.” Hange rolled her eyes and laughed. “We’re all going to die young—we wouldn’t be in the Survey Corps otherwise.”

“That’s not what I meant.” Erwin swirled his glass, his eyes never leaving hers. “There are survivors and there are martyrs. And you and I were never meant to be more than a flicker in the dark.”

She noticed how he didn’t mention Levi. It wasn’t hard to guess what category he belonged to. Hange shrugged. “That’s poetic. You missed a career change.”

“It’s also correct.” Erwin set down his glass as he regarded her. “If not death, then what are you afraid of?”

It was a question she hadn’t still found the answer to. It was one she faced every day. Hange looked away now, breaking eye contact. “I’m not sure, really, but it’d suck if I died before I got to study a titan.”

This time he laughed before he finished his drink. “Try to figure it out soon—it’ll keep you alive a little longer. And I’d rather you survive, or at least outlive me.”

“Why?” Hange asked lightly. Most commanders barely made it past their first two years, if not dying before their sixth. “For my brains?”

“That’s part of it,” he agreed, thatching his fingers and resting his chin on them. “But more than that.” The look in his eyes was something she couldn’t fully interpret. She could have made an entire research paper out of it. “Take Levi with you.”

“He won’t like that,” Hange pointed out.

“He won’t,” Erwin agreed. “But he’ll do it.”

They had both been right. Levi had given her a disgusted look when she told him. He had also been at the gate ahead of her, his horse saddled and well supplied for their stealth mission. His dark eyes followed her as she slowly trotted toward him.

“You’ll do exactly as I say,” Levi told her when she was within earshot, his voice rough. “Or we turn back.”

“Aww, no good morning?” Hange sighed. Her horse tossed her mane and she patted her hide. “I know, no manners with shorties, huh?”

“Hange,” Levi growled, not in the mood for games or banter.

She dropped her smile like he had dropped her nickname. “I got it.”

“You won’t suddenly sprint off,” Levi continued, still far too serious. Then again, they were both sneaking in and out of titan territory, maybe there was no such thing as ‘too serious’.

“I won’t,” Hange promised. Not that she was certain how good that was, she rarely ever meant to sprint off.

“And most importantly, you will listen,” Levi finished, crossing his arms. He tapped his upper arm impatiently. “You have to follow all of those rules.”

“Yes, yeah, okay.” Hange ran a hand through her hair. “Can we go now?”

He gave her another disgusted look before urging his horse forward.

The lost territory felt and looked just like the territory on the other side of the wall, if only bigger. Fields spread for miles, and in the distance she could make out the shapes of titans. Part of her wanted to chase, but Levi gave her a sharp glare and Hange had reluctantly restrained herself.

There would be plenty of time to find them after she’d caught her first titan, after all. The roads were empty, leading to emptier towns. It was oddly quiet, considering hundreds of people used to live out here and now dozens of titans existed. Would they ever reclaim this district? This wall? This gate? Probably, but Hange could only hope it was within her lifetime and not her successors.

As much as her knowledge was for the future generations, she had her own pride and ego and she wanted, needed, to see the fruits of her ideas.

The trip was easy for the most part. A confirmation of certain hills and valleys, of caves and trees. The places they could hide and encase nettings. Aside from hiding from titans every now and then, it was like any other expedition she’d been on.

Even the part where she and Levi had to hide in a cave as they waited for titans to pass before they returned home. “We should look into portable caves,” she murmured.

Levi snorted, his eyes on the exit. “So you’ll finally invent something useful.”

“Everything I invent is useful, you’re just too small-minded to see that. A tiny brain to go with a tiny body and even tinier temper?” Hange retorted, leaning against the rocky wall. She closed her eyes. The cave was too small for even the shortest of titans to enter and there was little to pay attention to when Levi was here.

He was a survivor, after all. Even if she’d never seen the scars on his back, she’d have known that. Levi was always alert, always ready, his hand on his blade and his eyes on the target. The injuries he bore were different than the ones she or even Erwin had—theirs came from lucky escapes, his from unlucky encounters.

“I should just feed you to that titan,” Levi bit out, his words all bark and no bite.

“Even if you didn’t, you’ll outlive us all, you know.” Hange cracked open an eye and studied his stiff posture. Was there anything that could destroy it? Even in this world of death and uncertainty, he was an odd constant. “And when you finally realize Hange was right, I won’t even be able to say I told you so.”

He threw her a sharp look. “We’re not dying here.”

“I’m not saying that.” Hange chuckled. “I meant in general.”

His expression grew more suspicious. “We’ll all die at some point.”

“Didn’t say anything about that either.” Hange shrugged. “Just that your some point is farther than mine. Or anyone else’s.”

“What are you talking about?” Levi scowled.

“You’re too smart to live in denial.” Hange closed her eyes, tired. “Oh, wait, this must be the ‘tiny brain’ thing.”

She heard the elbow before it connected with her gut.

They did not catch a titan that day. They did not catch one that week or even that month. It was another few years before Eren Yaeger entered their lives, before his titan appeared and Sonny and Bean fell into her hands.

Somehow, the titans didn’t give her the answer she was seeking. No, that was found in a little notebook in the basement of a destroyed house. An earth-shaking revelation discovered only after Erwin died, his eyes closing before he could see that final truth himself.

How stupidly heroic. How stupidly tragic. A tale as old as time, yet it cut her the same every time. There were no happy endings in their world, not yet.

Standing in Erwin’s empty office, the notebook tight in her grasp, Hange’s victory was more bittersweet than joyful. She reached down for Levi’s hand, her fingers wrapping around his. For once, he let her without more than a grumpy grunt.

“You know, he was right,” Hange murmured. The office was empty, but only for today. It wouldn’t be long before another filled the seat.

It wouldn’t be long before she got shoved into that position.

“He usually is,” Levi replied, his voice carefully even.

She tried not to laugh. Even now, even here, Levi’s walls were as thick and strong as ever. “You’ll be the last of us.”

At that, he finally reacted, his brow knit as he turned to her. “What are you talking about?”

“Erwin thought so too.” Hange closed her eyes, remembering the clink of glass, the bitter taste of whisky, the sardonic smile Erwin had that night. “You’re a survivor. And we’re…not.”

Levi snorted derisively. “You’ll live longer if you stopped running amok and actually paid attention.”

“That’s part of it but…” Hange glanced at the short man next to her, at his stern profile. His eyes had always been ridiculously clear. It was obvious why. She and Erwin were liars, obsessed with the truth to the detriment of everything else. Levi had never been anything other than his grumpy self, had never cared about something to the point of losing control.

And that was why he was always left behind.

Pity and regret swirled within her—the blow wouldn’t be easy when he was finally alone, whether she died today or five years down the road.

But he’d survive that too.

“But?” Levi pressed impatiently.

This time, she didn’t restrain her laugh. “It’ll be fine, you know.”

“What are you talking about?” he asked again, irritation colouring his voice.

His hand was still in hers. Hange raised the notebook and grinned. “I’ll at least finish decoding all of this before I go. Unlike Erwin, I’m not so nice as to leave that to someone else.”

And unlike Erwin, she wouldn’t leave Levi empty-handed when she died.

Perhaps that made her the better lover. She’d have to rub it in Erwin’s nose when they met for drinks in the afterlife.

Levi was still scowling and Hange tugged him forward before he could say anything. “I think he still has some scotch in the drawers.”

They poured three shots. The scotch was still too bitter.

Ok so, you don't have to do this if you're not accepting requests. But I am way too insane about IOFAB and idk why. It has been in my head since the beginning of May. I couldn't focus for weeks, that's how good it is (it didn't really help that the Kendrick v Drizzy beatdown happened).

Can we have more stuff in the IOFAB verse? Maybe something from König's POV (this guy has to be aware that he's just making her hate him even more)? Maybe life after the last escape/shooting incident can't believe the guy actually did multiple rounds with a bullet in his shoulder that's gotta hurt, pregnancy, or kids? Or maybe domestic horror fluff (if that's actually a thing)? Or something about how he managed to keep reader as his lawfully kidnapped wife (this guy definitely put trackers in her ring)? I just realized that I keep referring to reader/darling as his wife even though they ain't married yet Or maybe even an alternate timeline in which deals with what would happen if they did meet but those guys had to actually disclose that they found those survivors which would mean König would not be able to have her?

IOFAB König is so different from the other yandere Königs because he actually shows his hand right in the beginning. Like he's not just some oWo shy guy that is a yandere that goes “maybe I should keep you here with me so that you wouldn't leave me, schatz haha jk... unless 🙂”. He just straight up “You're with me now. Sooner you accept it, the better it will be for you”. He wouldn't hurt reader but he definitely wouldn't hesitate to drop kick a kitten or even his children if they would somehow aid her in her escape.

Something something he would put the world at her feet but wouldn't ever let her see her family ever again. Something something you could put the world through eternal winter and starvation but he won't ever let his goddess go, not even for 6 months. Something something he would hunt her down in their next life. Something something God never blessed him so he's taking one of His blessed angels for himself. Something something he's worshipping the ground her chained feet walk on. Ok now this is getting too long. In short, this guy warrants the “Why are you like this” microscope and “You're not a human nor a dog but a secret third thing” and you don't have to but if you want to, please please please please please can we have more IOFAB?

Zero, you're now officially the number one fans of IOFAB XD idk if I should be glad or concerned about it.

I mean, if you wanna theorize about their future and stuff, I'll gladly answer it. But for me, the story already ended here. I don't really plan to write a continuation of it. Maybe I'll write a lil bit of it in other people's POVs but that's it.

As for König's POV, I think we've covered a lot about his psychology. Like, of course he knew she hated him, but it wouldn't last. If he keeps on giving her what she needs (tolerance, space, care, etc), she'll eventually come to love him, or at least tolerate his presence. It's like a 'trust the process' situation.

I won't really write about pregnancy and kids, because it's more fun when I let the reader decide what's best for her. My actual HC is she'll only have 1 kid, and it's a boy. That's it.

There are 3 endings that I've thought about, it's either; (1) she manages to escape with the help of the maid (The Handmaiden storyline, wlw), (2) she's staying with him until the end (Göth's dream), (3) she's rescued by the third party, there's a possibility that he or the reader dies in this scenario (the realistic ending). But I won't make either of them canon, bc where's the fun in that?

As for the AUs, I haven't got the right idea for it. I think yours is good, but I honestly don't know where to start 😅

Personally, in my humblest opinion, I think shy yandere shouldn't exist in fiction. I fucking hate it, because it's very manipulative in the cheapest way. Like, they'd appear "harmless" like a weirdo, but would go 180° at any given chance. And what makes me hate them the most is that they'd go back to their shy shell when they're being cornered. They can't and won't take any responsibility for their actions. Oh, he kissed you without your consent? Well, that's your fault bc you seduced him (even if you didn't). Every time I read about a shy yandere man, I just wanna bash his head with a bat. Like, you're not fooling anyone with that attitude. Just take what you want and admit it, even if it means you have to be ruthless.

I must admit, IOFAB König does hold a "secret third thing" vibe, because I don't think he exists irl in terms of personality. He's like, if patience is taken too far, and if patience is the source of horror. He doesn't really worship her, but he views her as the rarest and the most exotic thing. If you ever read about the exotic animal keeper, or the curator of the rarest arts, then you'll understand why he behaves that way. They're very patient, and they're very possessive of their treasure. If the tiger that they keep bites their arm, they won't put it down. They'll find a way to tame it—they'll try to win its affection instead. If one particular art requires so much maintenance, and so much cost to keep it in good condition, the curator would pay for it. They won't abandon the art piece, because they know how much it's worth. That's how König views his wife.

I know it sounds like he's objectifying his wife, but sometimes humans love their things more than other humans. I'm just using that feeling as the base for IOFAB König.

Maybe I'll write about the domestic horror stuff, but I still don't know how, so no promise 🤔

-Your hard-won victory in Valhalla had gained quite a lot of attention, as they were all recorded, so those who fought earlier could see all the later fights, and you found yourself being courted by a weirdo, or at least in your book he was a weirdo.

-Buddha- He learned the hard way that you don’t like to be snuck up on. He saw you speaking with Brunnhilde, and he grinned, wanting to ask you questions about your fight, as you were very impressive with your abilities to dodge and shoot at the same time. When he wrapped his arms around you, he quickly found himself on the ground, holding his jaw after you had whirled around and delivered a haymaker, pulling out your pistol at the same time, pointing it at him. He grinned, flirting, “If I had known you liked it rough I would have tried harder.” You cocked your pistol, your eyelid twitching before Brunnhilde stopped you, “None of that now.” Buddha did make it up to you, taking you out for a drink. He wanted to know more about your feisty side.

-Hercules- He was like a dog, if you had to describe him, big, happy, kinda dumb looking, but he was pretty damn cute. When he approached you, asking you for a fight, he began to ramble, praising your fight and going over it. His enthusiasm was pretty cute, but it got old pretty quickly as you grabbed his top, pulling him down into a kiss to shut him up, “Stop flapping your gums- if were gonna fight then let’s get to it!” his lips were stuck in the puckered position, completely shocked on how bold you were before he was quick to catch up you, giving you a shy look, “If I win can I get another kiss?” you couldn’t help but smirk up at him, silently challenging him. There was something exciting about you!

-Lu Bu- He had approached you wanting a fight, wanting to test his strength against your own, trouble is, he did it while you were in the middle of enjoying a nice cold beer at your favorite saloon in Valhalla. You waved at the bartender, signaling for another drink and he was surprised when you pushed it to him, “Drink up- ain’t no fighting happening today. I ain’t nowhere near sober enough to give you what you want.” You were so unlike the women of his time, soft spoken, reserved, you were loud, crass, and to be completely honest, he liked it! He downed the drink and you gave him a smirk, “Is that a challenge, boy?” the bartender could only roll his eyes as he prepared the glasses for your next drinking contest.

-Rudra- When you spotted a god hanging out by your front gate as you were coming home, you glared slightly, wondering if you had another fight, “Hey- what you doing here?” Rudra turned and you had to admit, he was quite the looker as he gave you a friendly smile, “Hello there Y/N, I wanted to come and see you. I have some questions about your fighting technique that I wanted to ask about.” He didn’t seem like he was here to fight, but you weren’t completely sure just yet. He was expecting you to invite him in but surprised him with your crass nature, “Don’t know what you want to ask about it- it’s simple, dodge and don’t get hit and hit the other bastard first.” He couldn’t help but grin, seeing your simple way of thinking about a fight. It took a few visits before you invited Rudra into your home, finding his persistence admirable while he was elated he was finally getting through to you.

HI HI HIIII HELLO i am back from being out and kind of in a bit of an anxiety spiral but i'll be okay, had a cry and showered and i'm chilling now, thought you should hear about my weirdo dog!!!

so her name is Oppie (started out a lil differently but Oppie suits her!) and she's about 8 years old now, getting on a bit but still a very funky creature. she's from a breeder because my father wanted a purebred once as a change from adopting most of the time, and we picked her from all her brothers (she was the only girl left because she was the only one who would let my father pick her up and hold her in his arms like you would with a baby lol, tummy up, and she was just so chill about it. she was also the only one of the litter who wasn't a stubby-tailed puppy, and she's pretty small for a blue heeler because her mum was also kinda tiny.

she's a super cool doggo, and genuinely it's been so cool watching her and how she interacts with the world. she's hella smart, literally tries to manipulate everyone into doing her bidding, knows a bunch of commands, can close doors and stuff, and recognises family names and words. she's also really bonded to my father and has a Huge grudge against my baby brother (he's preteen and they have a bad habit of Always being in each other's way to the point where it's gotta be somewhat intentional, leading to her nipping ankles. bad habit, we're in the process of training both of them out of it T-T).

in terms of her personality, she's pretty antisocial towards other dogs and barks at em a lot, but towards strangers and general people she is the most lovely, friendly creature you ever did see, always looking for scratches and headpats and attention. you could literally stick your hand in her mouth and she wouldn't do anything. but yeah just generally very sweet towards humans.

fun facts about Oppie:

when she was a puppy, she jumped out of a moving car once. and she was on a leash too, she just YEETED her way out of the (half-up) window and we had to stop the car asap. lil dumbass got away with nothing but scratched pawpads but i think we're somewhat traumatised and she still does Not have window privileges in the car

she Lauvs running and can run so so fast

since blue heelers have a second coat, she's pretty furry and sheds a lot. i used to have to brush her pretty often, but have since found out i'm allergic and no longer take on that duty Imao

her favourite thing ever is the pool. she adores

the water and swimming and splashing it and she's so stubbornly determined that when we used to have an inground pool she would do parkour to get up on top of the fence (which was like 2 metres high) and then jump over the spiky gate bit to get to the poolwe even had tocover the bars of the fence with chicken wire because she would squeeze through them

she'll take a toy over a treat anytime, but she still loves liver treats and bully sticks

she's So stubborn and strong that one time she pulled hard enough in a game of tug of war that she broke her tooth. like. an actual tooth. one of the long canine fang thingies on the top row of teeth, and she had to get surgery for it. like Gurl you're kind of insane but i love you.

she doesn't cuddle very often so if she comes up to you and cuddles you then you have been

Im so sorry to hear about the anxiety spiral, but I'm glad there was some relief given in some way!!

First off: Oppie sounds absolutely PRECIOUS oh my god!!! Being a full blooded heeler I figure she would be insanely intelligent, almost to a fault XD my little heeler is such a smart baby and knows all sorts of words and tricks and behaviors, its so second nature for them to have a job or something to do with their brain and body~! It sucks she doesn't quite get along with your brother, though of course it is most likely because they get in each others way and she feels she's not controlling him right (not trying to mansplain your dogs behaviors at all, I just like to speculate~).

Though in another way my heeler is very much like yours: she doesn't do well with other dogs at all but she does wonderful with people. She'd curl into someone's skin if they let her after they gave her precisely one (1) eye contact lmao, and gentle as can be, just wants you to throw the ball or frisbee without ever actually taking it from her~ Other dogs make her uncomfortable though, we never did get to understand why. I found her one day (it was actually fathers day) just wandering up the street missing half her fur, so we were curious if it was like an abuse or dog fighting thing, but no solid proof either way.

That's been many years ago now though and she's got all her fur and siblings and toys~! I rambled a bit there but, short story long, the only other dog she's ever accepted is my beagle, he's a special boy for both her and I, and honestly I've never come up with a good explanation for why she accepted him.

Heelers are an enigma and a delight, I love them so terribly much! They are one of my favorite breeds to train and hear stories about, so thank you so so much for telling me about her! It seriously did make my day!

I started watching Asian BL series at the end of January this year, so I'm still pretty new to them, but I thought it would be fun to post my top 10 so far, and then check in every now and then to see how it changes! At this point I've watched around 38 series, not including specials, etc. (16 Thai; 11 Japanese; 10 South Korean and 1 Taiwanese)

Anyway, the current top 10:

1. My Personal Weatherman (2023, Japan)

I've watched this 5 or 6 times now! Miscommunication (or, even better, total lack of communication) is one of my biggest weaknesses! I live for it! I often hate when characters talk their feelings out too soon (or sometimes at all lmao), so this is like... perfect for me! And their dynamic was so delicious too

2. Moonlight Chicken (2023, Thailand)

This was my first BL and so it was also my introduction to EarthMix (who I'm now obsessed with). It's always nice to see adults falling in love, but I think the contrast with young love was really nice too! But I definitely preferred the JimWen plot. Earth did a great job of embodying a character ten years older than he is and Mix was great too and I love how everyone actually looks sweaty and it's just a really beautifully made series

3. KinnPorsche (2022, Thailand)

This was the first BL series I ever heard of, I think! But I couldn't figure out how to watch it in 2022 for some reason, so it took me a couple of years to get there lol I'm going to be honest, it's not what I was expecting at all! Everyone kept talking about how dark and fucked up it is, but it's so funny and goofy!!! Like, there are dark elements, but the delivery overall is very silly to me (in a good way), and it's honestly one of the funniest things I've seen in my life haha and the romance between Kinn and Porsche is everything, really

4. Cherry Magic (2023, Thailand)

I did watch the Japanese one first and adored it, but there's something about TayNew and what they bring to these characters and romance that really had me hooked. Plus I prefer Jinta to Tsuge XD but this is just such a sweet and heartwarming show ;__; I wish it hadn't had the copyright issues because it's kind of a PITA to rewatch

5. Boys Be Brave! (2024, South Korea)

Full disclosure: I didn't care for the side couple but I'm OBSESSED with Jinwoo and Kisub. They're both low key weirdos and there's nothing more I love than weirdos finding love in each other! Plus, they're opposites attract, another favourite of mine. It's a very cosy and comforting series

6. Old Fashion Cupcake (2022, Japan)

Hit me right in the rapidly approaching 40 feels! I just... It's just gorgeous. Just so lovely! The romance is beautiful and it looks beautiful and the acting is beautiful! BEAUTIFUL!

7. Cherry Magic (2020, Japan)

I've found that, while I gravitate overall to the Thai shows so far, the Japanese ones make me more emotional? Maybe it's because they do the ~I'm not worthy of love thing so well. But this was so sweet and special

8. A Tale of Thousand Stars (2021, Thailand)

There were some aspects that bothered me that kept it from being perfect, but it's a lovely story and Earth and Mix really have something special together onscreen (well, I love their offscreen interactions too haha) And I love the setting! And knowing this was Mix's first acting gig???? Incredible!

9. Cupid's Last Wish (2022, Thailand)

Didn't care for the side story with the aunt and uncle, and it gets a bit wishy washy toward the end, but I LOVE road trip stories and I love body swap and I think the way it was done here was really good. The transitions between Jan and Mix playing Win were SO well done and Earth gets to play a slightly more lighthearted character and there's a lot of lovely scenery and some cute cows! Plus, Jan and Mix are both so cute when they eat lol

10. Manner of Death (2020, Thailand)

As a life long lover of mysteries, I didn’t feel the mystery plot was particularly strong, but this series is kind of batshit and I love it. Plus smalltown mysteries are my jam, strong or not! And it has the most unhinged proposal I've seen to date

Aaaaannd that's it for now! I can easily see Wandee Goodday making its way into this list when I do an update (probably even my top 5)

Oh, but for fun, my average ratings by country:

Japan: 8.2; Thailand: 8.3; South Korea: 8.6

Which is funny because the South Korean ones have, overall, been less enjoyable for me lol but I've seen fewer so I think that the few highly rated ones have bumped the rating up haha

I wish that TWST would let us interact more with Kalim and Jamil. I know we already interact with them a lot but rarely ever on their own after the Octatrio crash the party.

I think Yuu and the Scarabia duo would have a really fun dynamic, especially if Yuu was younger than them - not necessarily a child but like. 16. Or barely a couple months younger than them. Both of them would immediately adopt Yuu the moment Yuu is perceived as smol. Kalim would try his best to spoil Yuu and be the fun but completely irresponsible and crazy parent and Jamil would be the “No that’s an absolutely horrendous idea stOP”. As Kalim matures more and becomes more competent maybe they’d start bickering like a married couple.

But imagine Kalim having “custody” for the day while Jamil is really busy w/ a basketball tournament or something. He’d treat you to ice cream or some other treat and take you to the treasure room and you spend the day with him picking up treasures and coming up with stories behind what they are. Then when tournament time came he’d take you on a carpet ride to go and watch and cheer on Jamil.

And then Jamil takes over the “parenting” roll when he’s cleaned up and ready, sends Kalim to go take care of housewarden business and cooks dinner with you while you ask him about his match and console him if he lost or celebrate with him if he won. Sometimes you both steal and eat the ingredients as you’re cooking, and, if Jamil’s in a good mood, you “accidentally” throw flour at each other for fun.

Then after dinner it’s dark and neither of them want you to go home in the dark so Jamil gets you a room (right near his and Kalim’s) and then Jamil helps brush your hair or something while you and Kalim tell him what you got up to while he smiles and rolls his eyes at your antics. Both boys then encourage you to sleep early (regardless if they will or not) and if you had a bad dream one or both of them will come and stay in your room that night and just-

I also love the idea of Yuu being older, and being a sort of mentor / weird older cousin figure for them. Being both supportive, but also an absolute weirdo - helping them both find their sense of self outside of their roles, and having fun in the process :)

Less a single store, and more of a shopping area - there's a little plaza in Bachjret Ward that functions as an open market, with vendors constantly changing out. It's a great place to get specialty items - particularly ingredients and flowers, there's a long tradition of hobbyist gardeners who've specialized in growing niche plants on space stations, but you'll find a lot of... for lack of better phrasing, garage-sale type setups too. Adrian's father usually took her there to pick out a treat or otherwise just enjoy the crowds, when the Shepards wound up at the Citadel when she was a kid; and even during the events of the series she would stop by there to find something special for the crew.

2. What is the public’s opinion/awareness of Shepard?

Varied - actually kind of a low opinion through most of ME1 - there was a lot of speculation that the hunt against Saren was a coverup for something else, and the human getting promoted to Spectre just seemed. Weird and not everyone trusted it lol. Adrian actually damn near tanked her reputation after Virmire; if Sovreign hadn't shown up when it did, she'd probably be cemented as 'that weirdo who tried to proposition Counciler Tevos in front of everyone'. ME2 era sees a solid split in human opinions, due to her 'humanity isn't more important to me than any other species' stance; but she's become quite popular among quarian and krogan crowds; generally she's regarded as a solid hero; which carries strongly into & beyond 3.

3. Armax arsenal arena: do they participate? How do they like it?

She'd probably give it a few goes, and actually pick it up a lot more post-war, once she's out of the Alliance. Those instincts aren't going anywhere, after all, and it actually becomes kind of a way to face down some of the like. Trauma lol.

4. Shepard wakes up in an alternate universe. What tips them off?

Define the alternate universe xD ... actually, since I am writing that 'Shep & Thane get to live' AU - waking up at all, and that everyone else is seeing Thane would do it. (Or, sticking her in my other favorite video game... that she is on a world where there's giant terrifying beasts but they just want to be friends is. Weird. But she can gel with becoming a pokemon trainer.)

5. What kind of relationship does Shepard have with Javik?

Weird - but it becomes fairly friendly, and she's actually kind of grateful to have him around, because she's been spending the last couple years with a degree of thought patterns and instincts that are alien beyond anyone's comprehension, and it's so... just. Isolating. He's a little abbrasive for her taste otherwise, but she's dealt with worse and would still choose to hang out with Javik over a few others lol.

6. The first thing a person notices about Shepard’s appearance:

In ME1 - the scars. She works to downplay them, but she could never bring herself to seek reconstructive surgery/otherwise actually like... cover them. Post-Lazarus though... it's her eyes, probably. Very expressive, and they're that sort of deep, still brown that's a little striking at first. (Or a lot striking, if you're asking a certain drell-)

7. How approachable are they?

Adrian radiates some weird invisible 'Please Tell Me I'm Useful' aura that drags people in, no matter how much she tries to put up a prickly stance, and unfortunately it takes until like 2189 until she feels comfortable saying 'no'. (And to her friends... she's not really 'approachable', because most of the time /she's/ coming to /them/ first xD)

8. What is the difference between me1 and me3 Shepard? Do they notice, or does someone have to point it out?

ME1 Adian is nervous but collected, and very good at keeping her internal issues on the inside, where they belong, because of course she can't be a burden; she's a good soldier who will follow orders and do whatever she can for others; and it's not until her death that her crewmates realize... huh, she's happy to listen to our problems, however deep they run, but her answers, when they asked about her? Kind of... shallow.

ME3 Adrian is. Uh. CW for suicidal tendencies in the canon section.

Good end: Openly frightened but there's a lightness to her that's never been there before, and she no longer speaks about the future like she's not going to be there; she's prioritizing her goals and what she feels needs to be done, regardless of damage to her, the Alliance, or the Council's reputations.

Canon: A determined, selfless hero who will see things through to the end, and if she somehow survives... it won't be for long because she is goddamn /done/ with existing.

9. Did/does Shepard have any alien biases?

She's got a soft spot for the krogan, quarians and geth; and has a lot of thoughts about the way first contact with the drell was handled, and this was /before/ meeting Thane.

10. How do they handle a teammate being badly injured during a mission?

Extremely well, all things considered - her intial training and official designation /did/ partially center around being a field medic, after all, so she kind of slips into that detached headspace of assessment and appropriate follow-up that keeps any anxiety at bay for a while; and usually by the time it hits, they afflicted teammate is at least stable enough that she can work through it well. (Garrus' being hit on Omega was probably the closest she got to totally cracking on the job, as it were.)

11. Who is in their inner circle?

Ashley, Wrex, EDI, Joker, Miranda and, of course, Thane, wind up the closest to her in the end. (She was also quite close to Kaiden and Mordin, before their deaths; and she's not necessarily on bad terms with any of the other crewmates - but with the likes of like, Tali, Jack, Grunt and Garrus? They're all more like... she had to be strong for them, there's more of a mentor-ish vibe there where she maintained a certain... veneer of having it together, and the others fall into good friend, great to hang out with, but not quite the same level of 'I am willing to let you see me hurt and crying' closeness).

12. What does Udina think of them?

He'd Rather Not, Thank You. (I.e: He had very high hopes but oh dear god, Shepard is. Such a mockery of his hopes for the first human Spectre, and his only solace is that she manages to piss off the Council about as much as she crosses him.)

13. What does Shepard think of Saren?

She's... honestly not sure. Annoyed with him at first, but after realizing he was indoctrinated for quite some time, and doing some research... in the end? She just feels sorry for him, and wishes there was something else that could have been done.

14. Is Shepard’s first death publicized? (Since in game seems both people know about it and the alliance covered it up)

To a degree - there were theories that she was in some deep-cover operation, but the Alliance did officially declare her MIA/PKIA about a year after the Collector attack, and there was a memorial service.

15. Did they have any relationships pre-me1? Still around?

Not really - Adrian's always been a little weird on the relationship front; there's a lot of sorting out of 'am I actually on the aromantic range or am I just terrified of being in love as a soldier because I've spent my entire life seeing how much hurt that tends to result in' (the answer is six of one, half a dozen of the other) that never gets done, so she mostly wound up with a few things that never got past a third date during her time in college; and it declined even further after Akuze. (And considering her partners were all Alliance, up til Thane... most of them aren't around any more, but there is another XO out there who is absolutely flabbergasted to see that tech nerd she slept with that one time suddenly all over the news...)

16. What additions did Cerberus give Shepard?

I play it as pretty mild, all things considered. Most of her organs are, to some extent, synthetic/artificially enhanced, a lot of reinforcements to her muscle and bones that have left her pretty durable. The biggest differences are that she got her left ear back, and to steal from some other HCs - the cybernetics mean her eyes kind of glow in the dark now - results in enhanced night vision, and delightful terror to unsuspecting crewmates!

17. Have they done any interviews? How did the first one go? And the most recent?

The first interview she ever did was actually when she was a kid, and attending a biotics camp that had just accepted its first wave of human students, which consisted of Adrian and exactly one other kid - most human biotics were headed to BAaT, but Adrian's parents leaned towards 'you know we'll go with the people who've had like. Centuries. To figure this out' mindset. It went pretty well, and definitely set a tone for her future lol, since she was spending a lot of time around aliens and had a pretty positive opinion of the whole thing.

Her most recent interview would probably be just after the Reaper War, and consists of 'I Am Retired Please Leave Me The Fuck Alone.'

18. What do they think of the alliance?

It's been her entire life. Every home, most of her friends, her schooling, her career... all of it was steeped in the Alliance. It wasn't perfect - and there was a lot she wanted to change, but if she was a good enough soldier? Maybe she could make some changes, one day? By the time she realized no, no one soldier (however good) could make a real change to the entire system... well, Sunk Cost Fallacy is a bitch, she genuinely wasn't sure how she could function outside of Alliance structure. Post-Akuze left her extremely disillusioned - that no, they really did value image over integrity. She should have faced some punishment for her actions... and instead, she gets lauded as a hero and a survivor, an example of what humanity can endure, and she would basically lose her entire life if she ever spoke up otherwise... and like a good Alliance soldier, she was too scared of that unknown, so she played along and kept up the good looks.

19. What are they like, when in a bad mood? How obvious is it?

She gets a little more terse and withdrawn, and her usual way of dealing with it is... pretty much dissociation, honestly. She can't snap because it'll be Bad For Image, or because the situation doesn't actually /warrant/ anger, or getting angry won't do anything to help... so. Yeah. Adrian gets angry and swallows it down and just kind of goes blank until her nerves are calmer. Completely healthy coping mechanisms.

20. Does Shepard’s armor hold any significance to them? What about a weapon?

Eh... armor, not really; she often swapped it out. Weapons were also generally regarded as tools, kept well-maintained but without much attachment... until she got the Widow xD She fucking /loved/ that thing - it's big, it's sturdy, it can punch through damn near anything, it's beautiful.

21. What was Shepard like before the alliance?

There was no pre-Alliance Shepard, really... but before active service, she was sligtly less anxiety-riddled and a little more hopeful? Not by /much/ though, tbh, she's just always been kind of tinged with sadness and fear.

22. What was the post-lazarus reunion between shepard and joker like?

Damp.

There were a lot of tears - mostly on Adrian's part, because she had died only half-sure she actually got Joker out, so seeing he was alive... that was. A lot to process. Joker, meanwhile - like he knew this was coming, but hearing 'hey yeah we've got Shepard's frozen scorched corpse and we're gonna bring her back' and seeing her there were worlds apart.

23. Ever had a broken heart?

Losing Kaiden counts in some respect - even if she wasn't sure if she did want to pursue something, there was /something/ blossoming there... and then, there wasn't. (She also very much suffers one in canon!ME3, losing Thane definitely breaks her in a way that never mends. And in my tweaked canon/They Live version... she gets a very intense familial heartbreak (: )

24. Are they funny?

Moderately, and it works best when she's not trying to be funny.

25. Have they made pursuits into further education? Any degrees?

Went to military college and got a degree in computer science (main focus was decryption and disruption), also took a few medical courses to supplement her combat medic goals. Post-wartime, she pursues education in literature and marine biology.

26. Does Shepard have a Twitter account

Adrian has a few social media accounts, and nearly all of them are just there to grab it before someone can try to fake them, there's very little activity beyond Official Needs. (She is (anonymously) active on... for lack of better phrasing, space Tumblr, though. No text posts though, she is strictly there to post & share photography).

27. The last time they were rude to someone:

Honestly, Adrian stays pretty polite? The only people she's really told to fuck off, in as many words, were The Illusive Man and Udina lol.

28. Does Shepard have any family?

A fair bit! Both her mother and father are alive up through & beyond the events of ME3 - Hannah remains in the Alliance throughout, while her father leaves the Alliance in the years between Adrian's first death and resurrection, instead operating at low income clinics on the Citadel (and a volunteer medic during the Battle of London). Hannah's side also sees an aunt, two uncles, and grandparents; while Adrian Sr. was a foster kid who bounced between homes most of his life, and wasn't formally adopted - but he keeps in contact with the women who cared for him in those last couple years before he signed on with the Alliance, and Adrian did meet them a couple times. That said, most of Adrian's life was spent beyond the Charon relay, and she never actually visited Earth in person until she was a teenager; her relationship with her extended family was pretty distant and limited.

29. Does the alliance use their image for propaganda/recruitment? Did they agree to/want it?

For a while, after her death - Adrian expressly denied permission while she was alive, but Hannah okayed digital reconstructions after Adrian's death - and oh god yeah the Alliance regretted the /shit/ out of it. 1: They were creepy as hell. 2: The public backlash was /intense/ - not just from civilians either; Ashley and Joker both sent in some very strong letters.

30. A moment that almost made Shepard quit:

As bad as a lot of them were? None of them actually made her want to quit, really. After all, what else would she have, without the Alliance?

31. Ask Dr. Chakwas: what kind of patient is Shepard?

A... consistent patient. Frequently in, because she's always doing something she shouldn't, but she's very tractable. Sits still, doesn't flinch or jump, gets a gold star and lollipop every time sort.

32. Is Shepard the type to give speeches?

A little - she doesn't exactly /mean/ to, but also she has consumed far too much poetry so it leaks into her pep talks xD

33. What does the council think of their first human spectre?

They'd Rather Not, Thank You. (Okay, actually, they're pretty impressed by the end of things, and they did at least appreciate that she took the charge of protecting the galaxy to heart - even among prior spectres, there was often a bias towards their own species, but Adrian really did exemplify that notion of protecting /everyone/ equally.)

34. What was Jack’s first impression of shepard? And now?

"Oh dear god this fucking prissy bitch is going to be the death of me I am not falling into any uniform or behaviour requirements' lol. Definitely softens, especially since Adrian does really listen to her and doesn't like... try to /fix/ shit, she just listens and /will/ help but doesn't force it. (She also does kinda appreciate the fact that, Adrian is a nerd... but she's a nerd who knows and appreciates poetry so maybe that's something she can share with someone else?) In the end? Considers Adrian a very annoying but beloved older sibling.

35. How was that mako joyride from ilos to the citadel?

White-knuckled terror for Adrian and Garrus. Best goddamn day of Tali's life cause she was at the wheel for it.

36. What was going through Shepard’s head, when they met Sovereign on Virmire?

A Lot. A weird relief, because shit started falling into place. Existential terror of Lovecraftian proportions. And an undeniable flicker of curiosity and awe, because holy shit /sapient robot cuttlefish-/

37. What is their favorite way to eat potatoes

Mashed with a lot of butter, garlic, salt and pepper; though she won't say no to a good jacket potato.

38. Lucky, or unlucky?

It's all in how you look at things - many would say Adrian's lucky to have survived so much, after all. Adrian would... Respectfully Disagree and leave it at that. (She does count herself lucky for her friends, though.)

39. What would Shepard say their flaws are?

That she is, at heart, a coward. She abandoned her squad on Akuze, and then was too afraid to speak out when the Alliance fudged things to save face; too afraid to leave the Alliance even once she started to hate it. She's bad at enforcing boundaries, and fears rejection enough that she'd rather make herself horribly uncomfortable than just say 'no' and have to deal with someone's disapproval.

40. What’s their pain tolerance like?

Horrifyingly high, and this was pre-Lazarus. See 'will endure physical discomfort over rejection' above; Adrian just... kind of accidentally internalized a 'suck it up and deal' approach; to the point she tends to miss some mild injuries, and managed to stay conscious and moving despite thresher maw acid getting into her hardsuit and eating at her. Only increases post-Lazarus, she winds up... /mostly/ accidentally hurting herself a few times during the worst of it.

41. Shepard’s been turned into an animal! What are they?

If she had a choice in the matter - Greenland shark or giant isopod. Going by general vibes though... Ross Seal. Look at em.

42. Does Shepard imagine what retirement will be like?

In true canon? No. Adrian never does quite reconcile a life outside the Alliance, and fully expects - and after a while, /hopes/ - she'll just die relatively young in battle and not have to face the horrible gaping void that is the future.

Tweaked canon? Not until most of the way through ME2 - the above still stands, but in the tweaked canon... she started spending time with Thane simply because he was also Doomed By The Narrative, and in this situation, had just... not pursued treatment for his condition, so there was a very grim but kind of pleasant mutual understanding of Things. But he's also on a ship with like some of the best medics in the galaxy and a lady who knows how to fix up organs, and saving Kolyat spurs him to see if anything can be done, or if it is too late. And /that/ leads to... not quite a fight, but a Strong Discussion that finally truly cracks through Adrian's whole... wall of Hell that everyone else has already started to wear down, that she finally allows herself to think, well, what if there /is/ a future for her?

It's pants-shittingly terrifying and she hates it, because now everything is /so much scarrier and more fragile/, not to mention she still has no idea what it could actually /involve/, and even up through ME3's events, all she can really think of for if she survives (and gods help her, for the first time in her life, she's hoping she will)?

She'd like a home of some sort, with Thane. She'd like to learn how to cook. Anything else is still... too much. Too scary. But a home on solid ground and a new, useful skill. She can imagine those.

43. What would they rather: wake up four years into the past, or four years into the future? Why?

Tough call - assuming like, end of ME3? Adrian's... really not sure. She's done the timeskip into the future thing, and things did ultimately work out... and she's a little afraid, if she woke up in the past as she is 'now'? She might not be able to pull everything off a second time. So, future it is.

44. Does collateral damage matter to Shepard?

To an extent - she doesn't like causing more damage than is necessary, but also if it's inanimate object vs someone getting hurt, welp, sucks to be an object.

45. Do they vote?

Oh absolutely.

46. Favorite bar/club in the galaxy and why:

Afterlife. The irony of having to go there immediately after coming back from being dead was kind of great, and the music is exactly her sort of jam - seriously, when she's scanning planets or building a ship she just has it on a loop. Idk she just vibes with it.

47. Do they let others take care of them?

Yeah she takes 'physician, heal thyself' a little too seriously and for... pretty much her entire life past 18, the only thing resembling care she'd really accept from others without (much) protest or immediately trying to do something in return was food, and that's because she could never get the hang of cooking even instant noodles.

48. How does Shepard feel about paperwork?

Necessary, often annoying, but also it gets her out of her brain so that's why she's buried in it through ME2.

49. What do they wear to sleep?

Varies a little by temperature, but I imagine biotics tend to run hot so she's usually just in boxers. Maybe a tank top if it's chilly.

50. What was the last thing (non-email) shepard read? Book, play, poem, essay etc

She's usually jumping between a couple books at one time! Through ME1 she's working through a collection of poetry from multiple species, the Cthulu mythos, and some middle-grade Spectre adventure books Joker sent her as a congratulations present (she actually rather enjoys them). ME2 is a lot of news, Revelation & Ascenion, and she dives /deep/ into hanar and drell poetry for. Reasons. Lockdown sees her pick up a subscription to a sci-fi/fantasy anthology and a couple knitting how-tos; and ME3 time leaves... very little time for reading. Most of what she goes through is the same prayer book Thane has.

(She also has a couple books on gardening and cooking. Just in case.)

In the Good End AU, Adrian and Thane wind up settling on, of all places, Akuze. It's a pleasant climate for him, and despite the memories... Adrian does find it lovely. And more importantly... it's like Omega but. Less. No one wants to lay serious claim to it because, Death Worms, so it's become prime real estate for dangerous sorts who are extremely tired and want to be left the fuck alone to exist in relative peace, they're too damn old and creaky for power plays any more.

The existing community is headed by an ancient krogan whose clan used to revere and work with thresher maws, she took her granddaughter there to pass on the old ways, and she's the one who has ultimate approval over who's in and who can try setting up somewhere else. Roz is a grouchy old bitch who doesn't keep up with the news, and even if she did, one human-drell couple looks the same as another as far as she's concerned, so what's it matter that she's just helped one settle up nearby? Get the fuck outta her town and leave her people alone or she'll get the shotgun.
