it's weird that you don't call out to jun when he comes into your apartment. jun knows that you know he was coming over at some point to spend time with you, and usually you greet him in some way when you hear the apartment door unlock. he's a little earlier than he planned, but you told him to 'come over whenever' and now he's a little worried that you didn't mean it. he quietly slips into the pair of slippers that stays here at your place, and makes his way further into your apartment to set down the bag of groceries he brought on your kitchen counter. your bedroom door is open, but the tiny room you use as a home office is open just a sliver.

he makes his way over, leaning in to listen for a moment... only to hear your voice. there's a little strain to it as you struggle through a sentence, and it clicks all at once: you're speaking chinese. albeit not very well (it's clear to jun that this is one-hundred percent new to you), but you're still trying. your pronunciation is a bit clumsy, but he can hear the way you try to use the right tone with what you're saying...

when did you start learning this much? jun had taught you little things in the past--the absolute basics, really, plus a few other little phrases that veer into his own cheesy need to hear you say sweet things--but this...? he steps back from the door. why hadn't you told him? you could have told him and he'd happily help you learn. but he trusts you: you must have your reasons to keep this a secret, so he won't push. he steps away, deciding to busy himself with getting ingredients put away--or set up for the two of you to cook together, in case you're hungry now.

then he knocks a cup into the sink, and immediately he hears you coming out of your office. relief crosses your face when you see it's just jun, and you lean against the open doorway.

"i didn't know you were here." you pause, and then he sees you get hit with realization. "... how long were you here?"

"i just got here," he says. it's technically the truth, isn't it? he's only been here for a few minutes. "were you working?"

you nod. "yeah. just had to answer a phone call," you lie to him, but he just nods and acts like he doesn't know that. you come up to his side, wrapping an arm around him. "is this for lunch?"

he leans over to you and presses a kiss against your cheek. "are you hungry?"

"mhm," you just snuggle in for a moment, enjoying his presence. "you should teach me more recipes you learned from your mom sometime."

jun finds himself smiling already. was that what this all was...? an attempt for you to understand him better? to show that you care for him so much that you want to know his culture, too? "i'd love to," he says softly, and wraps an arm around you to tug you closer to his side. "only if you teach me things you learned from your family, too."

then he'll make more efforts to understand you and your background, too. just to show you that he loves you as much as you love him.

While she has a few bunny motifs (the shoes), she’s actually pretty mouse coded! Siphok reminds me of little desert mice or field mice🫶

Her dominant hand is her left hand, but she can be ambidextrous in doing certain tasks.

Nobody in Night Raven College is aware that she is Crowley’s henchman. They just think she’s a teacher’s pet lmao but she takes care of a few “dirty” works that Crowley gives her, in exchange for money. Those dirty works include investigating overblots, investigating (basically spying on) some students, doing things outside of campus hours and/or campus grounds, and even delivering students to his feet (dragging their ass to punishment).

She is also the handyman of NRC because Crowley doesn’t like to call her a janitor.

Siphok doesn’t have magic, so she makes up for her physical strength. She’s strong, agile, and used to do Muay Thai back in her home-world.

I dislike the thought of her being in a vulnerable position, lacking magic and all, so I imagine her martial prowess to be on par with Silver/Sebek. I worry for my girl okay😔☝️

Siphok is pretty selfless, and some might even call her dumb for that, because she would jump into danger without a second thought- whether it be to rescue somebody or not.

Kaka & Kiki are kinda like Laios & Falin… Kaka being stoic and giving repressed energy like early Laios, Kiki being cryptic and always smiling and kinda soft-looking. Autism siblings 2, ostracized and othered as kids and have a deep bond due to sticking together through it all, though unlike with Laios their parents are very loving so Kaka developed family as a big value more than Laios (bc asides for Falin Laios doesn’t care much about it).

In the gnome festival comic you can see Kaka is more emotive than he seems! Full with a :3 face, and he’s the one crying at the end. He’s insecure about his legs and being tall… It really got to him. Conceal don’t feel. In the gnome festival comic you also see him sensing others’ gaze on him and that something is off unlike Kiki, again Laios-like in the way that judgement from others gets to him more than her.

since you're so interested in filipino language, does it follow the structure of [subject + verb + object + extension] like english or does it break that structure? in bangla, we have the [subject+ verb + object + extension] but we also break that structure so basically we can have [subject + object + verb]. for example, we can use both "ami take dekhte chaina" which roughly translated is "i her don't want to see" based on how the sentence is structured. this is why i have such a hard time trying to follow the english structure of subject-verb-object and sometimes end up mixing both structures

to use your same example, the tagalog equivalent would be "ayaw ko siyang makita" or "ayaw kong makita siya" = i don't want to see them.

ayaw ko siyang makita: don't want (modifier) - my (subject) - them (object) - see (verb)

ayaw kong makita siya: don't want (modifier) - my (subject) - see (verb) - them (object)

the -ng suffix, which basically means that it's modifying, is shifted around according to the sequence of words ^^ it's kinda hard to explain in text sorry and im already super offtrack 😭

my answer would be a yes, with caveat, because it's possible for a tagalog sentence to fall into this structure BUT there are many ways to structure a sentence in the first place

for your sample sentence of "i don't want to see her", i can't think of an un-nonsense way to fit it into that structure 😭 ayaw ko siyang makita/ayaw kong makita siya is the most natural way to say it imo. "ako ay (I am) ayaw (dont want) makita (see) siya (them)" sounds so weird

but hey, i could be wrong—disclaimer again, this is my 2nd language and not my 1st sgjdmfjf

i also struggle answering your question because it's kinda broad hsjdhdnd if you want a follow up maybe a more specific one would be easier 😓 unfortunately i wasnt able to pursue linguistics so i lack a lot of technical knowledge and terms which might have made this easier for us both huhu </3

FABIO QUARTARARO | Childhood, The thrill of becoming World Champion & Stories from the TwoJeys Villa

Fabio did an interview with two friends of his here. Considering his haircut and the fact that he asked Jorge (Lorenzo) about Dubai, I'm pretty confident in placing this somewhere in February of 2024.

Obviously non-exhaustive list of what was talked about in the video. A bunch of stuff we already knew (especially in the beginning) and a couple of new elements.

Was asked about the story behind the “El Diablo” nickname, which, we all know by now (devil on the back of one of the helmets he had as a kid competing in Spain, Spanish kids started calling him “diablo” because of that).

Asked about how he started with bikes, talked about his dad doing some races and said he started riding peewee bikes when he was 4.

He said that when he got into MotoGP, about 95% of people didn’t believe that he should have gotten the chance to be there.

The hosts talked about how sometimes in this context, the son/father relationship could get toxic with fathers pushing their dreams onto their son. Fabio said that it was never the case for him but that it was important for fathers to not push their kids into motorcycling if they weren’t interested.

They talked about how Fabio still manage to wave at and interact with people and stuff right before races meanwhile other riders are entirely focused on themselves. Fabio said that if he focuses too much on himself, that’s how he gets nervous. He enjoys until the moment he puts the helmet on, then it’s different.

Fabio enjoys having friends & family with him at races and he said that he always makes the most of it and that it always gives him a good energy.

He’s a sore loser and at first he struggled with the bad results (especially last season) but he’s learned how to handle those emotions now and believes that there is always something to learn even in the bad results.

Jorge Lorenzo appeared and Fabio asked him about being back from Dubai.

They asked Fabio about his dreams now that’s he’s already completed one (becoming world champion) and Fabio said that obviously he wants a second title but on the personal side, he’d like to have his own clothing brand (but for now he’s focused on his sporting career).

When asked if he will still be riding when he’s 40 years old, Fabio said that probably not (he remembers that Valentino retired at 42). He sees himself retiring young, not more than 10 years from now. Also said that 31-32 could be a good age for him to retire.

[on the matter of being afraid while riding & injuries] : “When you’re on the ground, you’re bleeding, and the first thing you’re thinking about is how much time do I need to get better and ride again?”

Fabio said that going up from 300 to 360 kph on the straight is not the most impressive thing but what is is slowing down from 360 to 80, and then going back up to 360 so fast.

“If everyone on the grid had the exact same bike, where do you think you would be this year?” “Fighting for the title until the end, for sure.”

He was asked about Marc and whether or not it was true that Marc could break later than everyone else, and I’m going to write the whole answer down because once again, Fabio was being Marc’s number one fanboy and I adore him for that : “Marquez, para mi, mira que realmente me gusta Valentino y todo pero para mi Marc es el mejor de la historia. Ha ganado a lo mejor menos titulos pero Marc, desde que llego a MotoGP hasta ahora… Me recuerdo en 2014, gano las 10 primeras carreras, dices “a ver este tío quien es?” y lo mas fuerte es que lo haces en agua, en seco, con viento, condiciones malas, buenas. El tío va siempre muy rápido. Y esto es para mi un ejemplo de como… como piloto. Y dices, como es posible, su agresividad. At some point, they (assuming officials) told Fabio that he couldn’t wear his pearl necklace because what if the necklace broke and the pearls went on the track?

Fabio met the guys from TwoJeys (the guys interviewing him in the video, the pearl necklace is from their brand) in Ibiza in July 2021 so they asked about the experience and Fabio said that it was the first time he realized what it was like to enjoy/make the most of holidays (it was his first time there and they spent 3 days together).

Fabio talked about the pressure of having swapped seats with Valentino (and said again that Valentino was his idol growing up).

Valentino took care of Fabio’s merchandizing for two years and he also invited him at the ranch when he was 15. Fabio said that the first time they were riding at 1pm and the others would wake up at noon, eat and go but Fabio woke up at 7am already hyper excited to ride.

They asked Fabio who ever contacted Fabio and had Fabio being like “wow, this is happening” and Fabio said it mostly happened after he got his first win, mentioned Neymar and also having a conversation with J Balvin.

Biggest sacrifice he’s had to make was living in Spain without his parents when he was 14 (and until he was 18).

Ok but, regarding TMAGP 27, I can't stop thinking about Jonah writing, after sending Archibald to a certain death, "It is done, and I am surprised to find how little remorse I feel." It reminds me of his statement in MAG 160:

"The discovery, not simply of the dark and horrible reality of the world in which you live, but that you would quite willingly doom that world and confine the billions in it to an eternity of terror and suffering, all to ensure your own happiness, to place yourself beyond pain and death and fear. (...) It is an awful thing to know about yourself."

I will never get tired of little details about his life being revealed (regardless of the timeline/dimension) because the parallel between his discovery of the supernatural world and the discovery of his own true self and the things he's capable of is so interesting and compelling to me.

Along with the knowledge of the horrors that exist in his world comes the horror of the realization that he might be capable of anything to stop feeling scared and vulnerable, to put himself over everybody else if necessary. Every time curiosity leads him into a new experiment, a new sacrifice in the name of knowledge, he lets go a little bit of himself and his morality. And then, as it happened with Archibald, and as it happened with Barnabas in another world, he feels surprised of how easy it was. Of how he doesn't feel regret or grief, how at most he finds himself thinking that it was all a pity. So it becomes even easier each time, he finds freedom in it, as he also mentions in MAG 160— and one sacrifice after another, it all becomes incredibly simple. There is no fear of losing himself, only the fear of death and pain remains, and only after that process of two hundreds years can one condemn the world for his own sake.

The progressive descent into evil of Jonah Magnus, slowly exposed through statements and letters, will never stop being one of the more interesting parts of this podcast imo.
