Do No Harm
CHAPTER ONE: Night Shift
Masterlist | Series Masterlist
Pairing: Matt Murdock x F!Reader
Summary: Matt has to accompany Foggy to the ER in the middle of the night because he dislocated his shoulder. In need for some peace and quiet, Matt wanders the halls of Metro General and instead finds you crying in one of the abandoned hallways. A conversation ensues.
Warnings for this chapter: Slight angst, mention of injury.
Word Count: 4.3k
A/n: My brain gets the strangest ideas for fics and then I have to write them or else I will go crazy. This is how this baby was born. Keep in mind, I’m not a doctor. I simply watch a lot of medical dramas and I like to research medical terms for the fun of it. Heed the warnings for the entire series (see Series Masterlist) but also chapter-specific warnings that apply, as seen above. I hope you enjoy!

Ever since he can remember, Matt has hated hospitals. The antiseptic scent that lingers in the air, the sterile white walls that seem to close in around him—it all brings back memories of days spent in agony, tied to an uncomfortable bed, and seeing nothing but an endless void of black.
He can only tune out so much. The stench, the sirens, and the overlapping voices in an emergency room—they could easily kill him.
Hospitals remind him of what he lost. He lost his vision, he lost his father and in the process, he lost his innocence. Matt lost everything, and even though he is well aware that it isn’t the hospital’s fault that he decided to save a man or that his father made a deal with the devil and got himself killed, he still hates the same empty walls that made him feel so small to begin with.
Matt doesn’t want to be a liability, he doesn’t want to be the reason the people he loves get hurt, and yet it continues to happen time and time again.
Maybe he’s cursed. It’s the only explanation for how things are going for him now. Maybe God has a grudge and finally decided to exercise his right to make his life a living hell. There is an infinite number of possibilities, but none of them make sense.
He’s the anti-hero of his own story and that of everyone else who has ever dared to let him into their lives. He’s his own worst enemy, his personal saboteur. His unwavering pride has a tendency to get in the way of his happiness, which often leads to more bad than good, but admitting that would leave him vulnerable and exposed—and he can’t let himself get hurt again.
It’s better to push the people he loves away before he can hurt them and force them to walk out on him the same way everyone else in his life has walked out on him ever since he can remember. At least in his twisted mind, that’s true.
He never thought he would find himself in Metro General again, not since Claire came into his life. Claire, the caring nurse who saved him when he was on death’s door and continued doing so until she realized that falling for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen comes with its own set of risks.
Foggy dislocated his shoulder.
It’s almost laughable. Out of everyone, he chose Matt to come to the hospital with him. Not Karen, Matt. He had the choice between the most empathetic person either of them have ever met, and Matt, someone so far out of touch with his own feelings, living in denial has become the standard for him. Foggy chose the latter, for whatever reason he doesn’t even seem to know himself. It just felt like the most natural thing to do, he told Matt when he asked his best friend, “Why me?”
He should feel honored that he trusts him that much, but being trapped in the sterile four walls of the hospital he only connects bad memories to while Foggy is stuck in the queue for an X-ray feels more like torture than an honorable act.
The loud, demanding voices of the nurses, the painful groans and soft cries coming from the patients in the waiting area of the emergency room a few doors down, and the obnoxious beeping of the machines lining the walls in every room are like a swarm of bees in Matt’s inner ear. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t get them out. He’s allergic to them.
The room smells of disinfectant, blood, and other bodily fluids. He tries to focus on his cologne and the scentless laundry detergent he has grown so accustomed to over the years, but the balm only lasts for a few seconds before the wound reopens and his senses are flooded.
Matt keeps rhythmically tapping his fingers on his thigh. How much longer he can sit on this uncomfortable plastic chair in front of the radiology area and wait for Foggy to return, he doesn’t know. It won’t be long now until he loses his mind. He is about to drown in his own misery.
He feels the desperate urge to land his fist in the wall next to him. He wants to scream, cry, maybe even both—this night is not going well. He hasn’t had a good night in weeks. Tonight though, he’s stuck in the hospital rather than outside, doing something against the injustice he is forced to listen to every day.
The hits he took the previous night were pretty severe, and his ribs still hurt. The numb ache that tears through him whenever he moves is a temporary relief from the pain induced by the noise around him. Whatever bits of sanity he tries holding onto eventually slip through his fingers.
Eventually, he can’t take it anymore. He gets up, his head tilting toward Foggy’s elevated heartbeat. He’s still in line. Fifth, probably.
Matt taps his cane against the floor, making his way down the hallway. He’s not quite sure where he’s going or where he will land, he just knows that he needs to get out of there as fast as possible.
Rounding the hundredth corner of the evening, the sound of clattering metal trays and medical supplies disappears behind layers of drywall and automatic doors. Matt takes a moment, and he realizes that right here—right where he is now—he can finally breathe again.
The sound travels more easily. The air wafting through the vents and over the cotton sheets on a row of empty beds is the only sound that meets his ears. They’re lined against one side of the wall. The rooms are empty, the doors locked. It seems as if in a moment of desperation, he found his way to one of the abandoned parts of the hospital.
A lack of funding caused Metro General to cut their losses. It certainly wasn’t an easy decision, but with capitalism on the rise, public hospitals are barely holding on.
Even though the truth is depressing, Matt still can’t believe his luck when he realizes how quiet it is. That may be a selfish thought, but he can't help it. The world is always so loud and uncomfortable. Finding someplace quiet after torturing himself in the waiting room for hours feels like heaven on earth on such a busy night.
The fog dulling his senses finally dissipates. He takes a deep breath. The air is cleaner here. No disinfectant, only the faint scent of plastic and dust; he wouldn't have thought it possible that he would ever consider that combination a blessing.
That’s when he hears it—a slightly elevated heartbeat followed by a series of muffled sobs. He got so caught up in the fact that he finally found what he was looking for amidst the chaos that he forgot to fan out his hearing.
Despite what he originally believed, he isn’t alone.
The air smells of the salty essence of human tears. Matt stops dead in his tracks, not sure whether to continue his journey or to turn around and return to the uncomfortable plastic chair in front of the radiology department.
“This nervous breakdown space is occupied,” your soft voice bounces off the high walls. It’s thick with exhaustion. Pain. Loss. He almost recoils at the all-too-familiar feeling it elicits in him.
Matt keeps his cane hugged tight to his chest, his knuckles whitening with how hard he is gripping the base. “Oh, I...I’m sorry,” he says, careful to keep his voice light. “I didn’t catch you there.”
You’re essentially a stranger to him. A troubled one, at that. You must have your share of problems or you wouldn’t be here. You wouldn’t be crying your eyes out. He doesn’t want to intrude, but he also can’t turn around. Not now, not anymore. You’ve already noticed him.
You sniffle, your hands wiping against the soft skin of your reddened cheeks. For a moment, your heartbeat picks up in speed before returning to its normal rhythm. “It’s alright,” you assure him.
Matt picks up on the faintest hint of disinfectant and the scent of antibacterial soap on you now, maybe a little blood, and definitely antiseptic laundry detergent—you’re wearing medical scrubs.
Your shampoo smells of vanilla and some herbal element he can’t quite identify just yet. Your perfume isn’t expensive, just enough to last through a long shift and filter the sweat that is seeping out of your pores. It’s not unpleasant. You smell like someone who’s been working hard and far past your limits, too.
“Do you need something?” you ask him.
He pauses for a moment, rethinking his answer. His lips purse. He’s not sure how to answer that without completely giving himself away.
Your eyebrows raise slightly.
“Oh, just
some peace and quiet,” Matt says, finally finding his voice again. It sounds a bit more nervous than he would like to admit.
The chuckle you exhale is one of surprise and possibly even a bit of genuine amusement. “Yeah,” you sniffle, “I know that feeling.”
“Well, I’ll, uh, leave you to it. Sorry again.”
“No. Don’t.”
Matt stops in his tracks when the words pass your lips.
You pat the space beside you. Your perfume becomes a little clearer. It’s so natural, so
you. He could get high off of it. Or maybe it’s just the sleep deprivation catching up to him.
“This is the only quiet corner in this hospital,” you tell him. “Trust me. Underfunding has its perks for introverts. Rest in peace to about thirty internal medicine beds, but lucky me.”
Your chuckle echoes bitterly off the walls. You use humor to cope, apparently, but you’ve run out of strength to pretend.
His cane begins to gently pave the way as he makes his way forward. “Do you mind?” Matt nods toward the bed you’re sitting on.
You pat the mattress again with a shake of your head. “Not at all.”
Gentle seems to be the one word that is consistent with everything you do. He can’t get this picture he has painted of you based on the sound of your voice out of his head. Maybe you’re an angel and he has officially gone insane, or maybe there are just a lot more good people left in this world than he originally thought.
Matt folds his cane and skillfully sits down on the edge of the mattress. You smell even better up close. Your heartbeat reminds him of a beautiful symphony, no longer as erratic as when he first picked up on your presence.
“I’m Matthew, by the way,” he says.
He can hear a sudden uptick in your heartbeat. He may have just imagined it. You suck in a sharp breath, and he’s sure he didn’t imagine that, but then you lift your hand to take his.
“Olivia,” you say.
Matt listens closely. You have no reason to lie about your name. Your heartbeat may be faster, but it isn’t a lie. You just seem a lot more nervous and unsure than before. It doesn’t quite make sense why you would be unsure about your own name.
“Nice to meet you, Olivia.” His lips curl into a soft smile.
You smile back, he can hear it, but it lacks an essence of truth. You’re trying hard to seem like you’re okay. It’s not your fault that his senses are sensitive to all changes in the human body, even in that of a stranger he just met.
You’ve been crying, so of course, you wouldn’t be alright. The question is, why?
“I take it you’re not part of the staff,” you say into the silence.
“No.” Matt chuckles. “I, uh, have a friend with a dislocated shoulder,” he says.
“Ah! Let me guess, his doctor in the ER reduced the dislocation but insisted on doing an X-ray just in case, so now you have to wait because radiology has a hold-up longer than the Nile?”
A laugh rumbles through his chest. “Yeah, that
 that’s pretty accurate.”
“It’s always like this,” you say. “A dislocated shoulder doesn’t have priority. We have bigger fish to fry.”
“You work here?” he dares to ask.
You pull at the bottom of your scrub top. “Guilty as charged. Trauma surgery. I’ve been an attending here for a little over two years now.”
“Oh, wow! That’s
that’s incredible.”
Matt has encountered his fair share of doctors in the past, but no one has ever been quite like you. You’re unique. Mysterious. An enigma. You have piqued his curiosity, to say the least, and your profession only adds to the pile of interesting things he can ponder about.
You smile at him again, but it’s still not a genuine one. “Thanks,” you drag the last syllable out, the air deflating your lungs.
He swallows. “Or it isn’t. I didn’t mean to–”
“No, that’s not
some days just aren’t that rewarding,” you say. “That’s all.”
“And today has been one of those days?” Matt asks.
“Yeah, something like that.”
Your eyes roam over him once again.
He reaches for his hair, running his hand through it. He ruffles the brown strands until they’re covering his left temple. Matt’s not sure if you saw; there is a high chance that you did, but he can't anticipate your behavior. Not yet.
You let out a longer breath. “Not a fan of hospitals, I take it?” you ask.
He shakes his head. “It gets
 loud,” he says.
“Sensitivity to sound.” You nod. “Noted.”
He hears the fabric of your scrubs brushing against your skin and the cotton sheets on the bed. You cross your legs, opening yourself up to him just slightly, and he wonders if you really are comfortable around him or if you’re just being kind.
“Probably to smell as well? Feeling? Taste?” There is a soft smile laced in your voice. This time, it’s real.
Matt chuckles. You hit the nail right on the head. You’re simply not aware of how sensitive he is to these things. “Pretty sensitive, yeah,” he says.
That about sums it up. You nod, but you don’t push him any further.
“Well,” you say, “The ER is pretty disgusting. And loud. And to be forced to wait in front of radiology is probably a scenario they offer as a torture device in one of the seven circles of hell.”
He can’t help himself, “It’s nine, actually.”
“Sorry?”
“Nine circles,” Matt clarifies, his lips twitching in a faint grin. “Dante’s Inferno. A good Catholic boy’s guilty pleasure.”
You let out a genuine laugh this time, and it warms his senses. It’s a rare sound in a place filled with so much pain. He can almost hear the weight from your shoulders hit the floor. The tension in the air seems to ease, if only for a moment. You allow to let yourself go.
Your grin turns into a smirk. “Catholic, huh?” you retort.
“Since the day I was born,” he says. “Are you religious?”
That seems to steal your breath away. You have no words. For a full minute, silence settles in between the two of you. It’s almost uncomfortable, and Matt fears he must have crossed a line. He just doesn’t know how to apologize for something he is truly curious about.
The topic of God and religion seems to hit a nerve when it’s not used in a humorous context. There are many reasons why that could be. He spends every day battling his own religious trauma and the demons that he feels he’s harboring deep inside, but he still holds on tight to his faith. If he doesn’t have an excuse—if he doesn’t have anything to hold onto other than what broken self-respect he has left—where would he be?
You finally clear your throat after what feels like an eternity. “No,” it’s a simple answer. “I don’t believe that there is a God.”
Your mouth stays open. You want to say something else, but your lips close within seconds after the thought has passed by you, and you swallow it. He wonders what he could have learned about you if you had allowed yourself to say what you were truly thinking when the words first left your mouth. You’re holding back, and it is audible. It might even be visible. Your cheeks are running hot.
Matt nods. He doesn’t question you. Your beliefs are yours. Most of the time, he doesn’t even believe that there is a God himself.
“It’s hard to keep the faith in this world, especially when you work so hard every day trying to save people’s lives. When you are forced to see what the system does to those who can’t defend themselves over and over again, but you can’t do anything about it. Or when you see what people do to each other. I mean, the cruelty of human beings is unmatched, and it makes you wonder if God is just a sadist, or if maybe he isn’t even real because a gracious God wouldn’t let innocent children die,” you cut yourself off in an instant, and he tilts his head toward you in surprise.
Your breath shudders. “I
I’ve seen too much bad to believe that there is an all-merciful God,” you say. “So I simply don’t.”
You try to meet his eyes, but all you see is your reflection in the red of his rounded glasses. Your heart breaks a little, he can hear it. Your shoulders slump. You’re defeated.
He isn’t sure how to react to that. How to help. How to be a decent human being. Matt just doesn’t have the answers you need, and it makes him question his own faith for a minute. Not that he has ever not questioned it; his relationship with God is as complicated as it gets.
You catch yourself after a moment of staring into the void of his glasses. “But
that’s my opinion. I didn’t mean to offend you.”
“I’m not offended,” Matt says.
You were smiling, and now you’re not anymore. He doesn’t like that. He liked it more when you were more open with him. Your legs have moved back to your chest, your arms clinging to them. You’ve retreated.
“Sorry,” you whisper. The edge in your voice breaks his heart.
He shakes his head. “Don’t apologize. I get it. Injustice
it’s a parasite. I’ve encountered my fair share of good people who deserved better than what they got. You try and you fail over and over again because the world isn't fair. I’d be the last person to judge you for not sharing my beliefs.” He breaks off in a chuckle. “I'm not that kind of guy.”
Your eyebrows shoot up to your hairline. “What is that you do again?” You didn’t ask that question before.
“I’m a lawyer,” he states. “Defense attorney.”
“Wow,” you let out a soft puff of air, “And you chose to go to Metro General instead of jumping on the big money train to the Upper East Side?”
Although your tone is joking, Matt can tell that there is an ounce of truth in your words.
He hides his laugh behind a cough. He’s not sure if he’s surprised or if he actually finds that assumption hilarious. Maybe a bit of both.
“Oh, no.” He shakes his head. “I have never even been in the same station as the big money train.”
“Oh?”
“No. We, my partner and I, do pro-bono work. We don't get paid for our services. Well, other than baked goods and overdue bills in the mail, of course.”
You chuckle. “That’s a relief. Not so much for your bank account, but ethically.”
“Yeah.”
“Sorry for assuming. That was prejudiced of me,” you say. “I’m not trying to judge you. I’m sorry. Rich or not, it’s none of my business.”
Matt shrugs. “It's okay. Lawyers and doctors are the two professions so many think make millions of Dollars a year, and while that may be the case for a few, a lot of us just
 don’t,” he says.
“Amen! If I had a drink, I’d toast to that.”
“Yeah, well, an intoxicated doctor would not fare well in the legal sense.”
“You think that would end my career?”
“I can’t even give you good legal advice other than, don’t.”
Your giggle turns into a laugh. “Thank you for the advice, counselor.”
He joins in. “Anytime.”
For a moment, only the two of you exist. Matt adjusts his position, but he doesn’t take his bruised ribs into account. His wince is barely audible, yet you notice it in an instant. And when his hair slips, you can see the gash on his forehead. The one he tried to stitch up himself but probably did an awful job at concealing.
Your eyes narrow in concern. “What happened to you?” your voice barely breeches the sound barrier.
“Oh, nothing,” he tries to shrug it off. “Just an accident.”
“An accident?”
“I am blind, you know. I tripped, hit my head. It happens.”
“Hm.” Much to his surprise, you don’t press him further. Instead, you gently reach out to brush the sweaty strand of hair from his face that he used to cover up the aftermath of his latest endeavor.
Now that he thinks about it, his ribs really do hurt. He’s sure nothing is broken, but they are severely bruised. Even he can feel the blood pooling under the skin.
You bite your lip, not wanting to pry. The urge is obvious to him, but only to him. You’re good at your job. You focus on the task at hand. That is probably why you became a doctor in the first place; to help people, not to pry.
But Matt Murdock doesn’t need help.
“It’s fine,” he assures you.
You nod. “I believe you.”
You don’t. You’re lying. He appreciates the effort though. You try your best at making him feel comfortable and welcome. Asking questions would only drive him away; you wouldn’t be able to satiate your pathological need to help. It’s who you are.
“Whoever patched this up did a terrible job,” you say, “and I don’t want to know who did it because if you tell me it was you, I will lose my mind, so, I choose to believe you for the sake of my own sanity.”
His lips part in a soft laugh. “Yeah, you don't wanna know,” he says.
“Can I fix it?"
He opens his mouth to decline, “You don’t have to, I–”
“Please.”
There is no arguing with you, it seems.
Your footsteps echo in the empty hallway. One of the drawers in the cart across from the bed slides open at your touch. Matt can hear the distinct crinkle of packaging and the clanking of metal. When you return to his side, your steps are a little heavier.
“I’m going to clean the wound and then apply a butterfly bandage to help the skin grow back together,” you explain. “The cut isn't that deep, but you must’ve hit your head pretty hard when you fell. I can’t force you to get a head CT, so
If you experience any nausea or neurological deficits in the next few days, you should come back to run some tests. But—and that is not my expert medical opinion because I don’t have the tests to back it up—I think it should be fine to heal on its own.”
“Any other advice, Doc?” he jokes.
“Well, I can’t give the same good news about your bruised ribs.” You only have to place your hand on his side and his lips come to press tightly together. “I’m guessing third and fourth,” you say. “If one of them is fractured, it makes you run at risk for internal bleeding, but to see the extent of your injuries, we’d have to get an MRI. That is not my call to make. I can’t force you to get your battle scars checked out, I can just advise you to think about it. Really think about it.”
Matt sighs. His laughter has long died. “I know.”
He doesn’t want to repeat himself. He’s fine. He has to pretend that he’s fine because he doesn’t have time for doctors or questions. Neither you nor the law can protect him from the damage that the truth would do.
You’re disappointed, but you swallow your pride. With delicate precision, you start cleaning the wound on his forehead, the cotton swab dabbing at the dried blood. He winces at the sting of antiseptic, a subtle twitch in response to the pain.
“Sorry,” you murmur.
Matt manages a half-smile. “It’s alright. I’ve had worse.”
That doesn’t make you feel better, but you accept it. You’ve learned to respect your patients’ wishes, even if that means swallowing a lie.
As you work, your fingers graze over his skin with a careful tenderness. It’s a stark contrast to the harshness of the world he navigates outside—a double-edged sword. If he doesn’t go out there, more people die or get hurt. He would sustain the same injuries over and over again and almost die rather than pretend that evil isn’t lurking right outside his window every night. And there is a bigger storm brewing in the distance, one he isn’t fully prepared for.
Yet.
You finish cleaning the wound and proceed to carefully apply a fresh bandage. Matt can feel the cool adhesive against his skin. Your touch is soothing, almost comforting, and he allows himself to relax.
“There,” you announce softly. “All patched up.”
Matt lifts his hand to touch the bandage, a habit he developed over the years to reassure himself that someone cared enough to tend to his wounds. “Thank you,” he answers.
“No biggie.” You shrug with a tiny smile, and that makes him smile, too. It shows him that while you are displeased with his lack of respect for himself and his health, you aren’t mad at him. You just care.
The shrill beeping of your pager tears a headache through his skull.
You curse under your breath. “I’m so sorry,” you say as you skim over the text that has been sent to you. “The, uh—the ER needs me.”
“Don’t worry about it,” he quickly responds.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. Go. Save a life!”
You’re reluctant at first, but then your lips curl into a broader, more genuine smile, and in the heat of the moment, you grab his hand. “It was nice meeting you, Matthew,” you say. “Take care of yourself.”
Your footsteps retreat and your heartbeat gets fainter as you walk down the hallway. He’s speechless. He doesn’t even remember how to say goodbye.
“Oh, and do me a favor?” You stop momentarily just to ask him, “Get those ribs checked out?”
His mouth opens and closes like that of a fish on dry land. “Sure,” he says.
“Thank you,” these are your last words to him before you take off running.
Both of you know though that once he is out of Metro General and on his way home, he won’t come back. Not for himself, at least. And it is something you have to accept as much as he has to accept the fact that you are long gone, off to save a life in the very four walls that seemed so scary to him all alone only fifteen minutes ago.

It’s time, for Black Myth Wukong, my thoughts after finishing. I havent watched any actual explanation videos yet, so this is my interpretation too.
Tldr is give this game, game of the century
Spoilers proceeding —>
With how Journey to the West is and how it’s got Buddhism massively mixed into it from Chinese culture, I’m honestly not surprised it showed so much emphasis on life and such
This game heavily focuses on life, death, misdeeds, truth, and what it means to take a journey and move forward.
Bit of context:
Sun Wukong denied the opportunity to ascend to buddahood, to have immortality, so that he could live amongst the world and be free. He is killed, and you start your characters journey to collect Wukongs lost relics to allegedly revive Wukong.
However, by the end, its revealed you were always in a cycle, a cycle that meant you would always come back to this place after journeying to the west collect Wukongs lost relics, and that you would die and the cycle would restart.
The true ending however, after collecting the armour and staff, allows you to travel to a previous area and fight Erlang, the person from the start of the game, once again. Upon killing the four heavenly kings and defeating Erlang. Its revealed that he was never an enemy. In fact, Sun Wukong and Erlang werefriends. And another truth is revealed. Erlang had infact hidden the sixth relic of Wukong (mind) the entire time, and after you defeat him, he returns it too you. And with that, after defeating the Wukong boss, this time, before the crown is put back on you, you remember in one of the most beautiful sequence I have ever seen, it flashback replays the real Journey to the West story in reverse order, showing how by regaining the memories, you can refuse to wear the crown again and break the cycle.
You were always Sun Wukong, trapped in an infinite cycle from that old monkey. However the old monkey was infact, by reading into his outfit and the text, a member of the celestial court, creating this cycle and grooming you into your supposed path each time.
The most important parts are each of the chapter endings, and prior to the Sun Wukong boss fight.
The chapters each always show an important lesson. A missdeed of mortals in some way. Each related to the buddhism ideals. And this links into the other part, right before the fight. You travel in a boat, with the old monkey telling the acts of Wukong through his life. The things he did wrong, and badly. And they all relate to the chapter endings, on how the final bosses you defeat also comitted these same acts. The greed of Yellowbrow, the lust of Baijie. How everyone always wants to be free, but also to ascend to buddahood, but one cannot have both, and shouldnt have both.
And the entire point of the true ending, is that you are meant to overcome those misdeeds and wrongdoings, by learning from not just those you take down, but from Wukongs past itself too. And you do this by finding and fighting Erlang and killing the four heavenly kings. Thats the way you unlock the real ending, because you overcome those past trails and you finally break into being better. Your journey the entire time, it wasnt about resurrecting Sun Wukong, it was about learning to be better, to move forward.
Wukong wasnt perfect. He did a lot of bad things, but the one thing he still remained was that he was infact a hero to many, and a villain to others. But the most important thing too him, was that he was free. Freedom he lost the moment the crown was forced on him at the start, and ever since he died right at the start and generations past, he had been in a cycle over and over and over.
The journey all along was about finding the way to be better than those wrong actions, and in doing so, you find englightment. You find peace. And with that true ending, it takes us all the way back to the start of the story. The start of the real Journey to the West story.
PS: Chapter 5 was the real start to the tease of the cycle. The ending story part was a big hint. And in a past cycle, you actually killed the fox girl that was the daughter of the bull. Well, Baijie did, so she was never even alive by the time you played that Chapter. It was always the son in an illusion. Its why the bull says that wherever you go you always leave a broken family. Its why the water guy says you dont even know what you are destined for. Its why a lot of the bosses make reference to you coming back not just from death. Youre stuck in the cycle.

Chapter 8 - I'm a terrible liar, I admit it.
Previous chapter / Next Chapter
Tumblr media
I saw Wind and Sky in the distance, the others were right behind me, as I excitedly ran towards the two who seemed to have just woken up. They saw me approaching and waved at me, I finally reached them, bending over and gasping for air, my face must have been red by now.
— Hey, look what the boys made for me! – I said excitedly as I took the sword off my back and handed it to Sky so he could see it better.
— Wow, that’s really nice, nice work Four! – The blacksmith thanked me as he began to explain his work in a more technical way, Sky and Wild were paying close attention, and as interested as I was, I couldn’t keep my attention due to a nudge on my arm.
When I turned to see what had touched me, Wind was looking at me with a serious expression, but at the same time he seemed hesitant.
— You called me Link. – He spoke softly, so that only I could hear, and all I could do was look at him with a confused expression. – Yesterday, when you said good night to me, you called me Link. – He explained. Holy shit, I hadn’t noticed.
— Hm? Why would I call you Link if your name is Wind? – I played dumb, but I feel like this isn’t going to fly. He didn’t seem convinced at all either, but I decided to insist a little more. – Did you get confused? The two names sound very similar! Or did you have the hero of Hyrule in mind? Do you admire him? – I tried to tease him in a friendly way, but he didn’t seem very excited, he just stared into my eyes for a moment that seemed to last na eternity.
— Okay, I must have just misunderstood... – He said and walked away, ending the subject. I fucked up, I made a mistake, my chest tightened at the idea that the sailor might not trust me anymore, or worse, end up finding out that in my past life I was from a world where his and his brothers’ lives are games and they are not seen as real people with real experiences, and that until I reincarnated I also thought that way and then he will hate me and see me as a horrible person, he will tell others who will also hate me and call me a traitor, they will all abandon me and never speak to me again and I will be alone having to deal with Dark Link who is after me for some unknown reason and then I will be captured by him and he will see that I am useless and worthless he will throw me away too and then my parents will disown me and I will spend the rest of my life alone working in a stable and cleaning manure.
Or I’m just worrying too much. That’s na option too.
My attention returned to the boys’ conversation, which Wind was now part of, they were debating about where Time and Twilight could be. I approached to join the conversation, even though I had nothing to add, and Four returned the sword to me.
— Do you think they’re still sleeping?
— No, those two are the ones who wake up the earliest, maybe they went out to patrol the area.
— In Kakariko Village? I don’t see any reason.
The general chatter was interrupted by the voice of the Twilight Hero right behind us, near one of the village entrances.
— What are you guys arguing about so agonizingly? – He and Time approached, it seems they really were out of the village for some reason.
— Where were you? – Warriors asked curiously and slightly worried.
— Just on a morning walk, also to scout the area before we started walking again. – Time replied calmly, reassuring the others. My mind was still distracted, but I tried to focus, taking the opportunity to show the sword to the two.
— Look at the sword I got from the boys! – I tried to act excited and not show my internal discomfort. It seemed to have worked.
— And do you know how to use a sword? — Twilight asked suspiciously, for good reasons.
— Does that answer your question?! – I exclaimed as I carelessly swung my sword with not a shred of technique against absolute nothingness.
— Yeah, we have a long job ahead of us teaching you.
I laughed and straightened up, putting my sword away again to avoid any possible self-inflicted injuries due to my stupidity. The “olders” and Wild got together to discuss which way we should go to leave the village, a subject that currently didn’t interest the others, including me, so we just got together to talk about what each other did yesterday or random things, just to distract ourselves.
— I managed to catch all the Cuccos yesterday, only to wake up today and find them all gone again! – Wind looked frustrated, making a comical expression. – Too bad for them, I’ll have to chase them all again!
— I can help, I’m good with birds, I’m sure the work will be much easier. – Sky offered to help, which the sailor readily accepted.
— Can we eat something? We spent the whole night working on this sword, I barely slept and I didn’t eat anything either. – Legend complained, it seemed like his bad mood was greater than usual, which made sense considering his state now.
Before anything else could be said, Time approached, but he seemed to be focused only on me.
— There’s a serious matter we need to discuss before we leave. We’ll be leaving early tomorrow morning, so be ready. Have you bought the missing things yet? – He asked directly, and I just nodded. – Good. I want everyone at the great fairy’s fountain in an hour, where we can have a little more privacy.
He left without saying anything else, looking very serious. I was worried, this all obviously had something to do with me, fear set in when I knew I would get a scolding from my mother, even though I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. Did I do something wrong?
Well, it wasn’t time for that, the mood became more serious among the boys too, they seemed as lost as I was, but if the whole situation required even a greater level of privacy then it was certainly something important. Well, I have na hour until then, I’m too anxious to do anything else and the others seem busy, I watched as they split up, each going to do their own thing. I think I’ll read something at the inn until na hour has passed.
◇
It didn’t work. I spent an hour thinking about all the possible possibilities about what this meeting could be about, that is, I was anxious the whole time without being able to concentrate on a single sentence of the book I was reading. Now I saw myself going to the fountain of the great fairy, I had never been so punctual in my entire two lives. On the way I met others who also seemed curious or worried, it seems that besides Time, the only ones who knew what this was about were Warriors and Twilight.
Regarding discretion, it seems that Cotera would be na exception to the privacy rule, for some reason it seems that whatever is said is nothing new to her, even though she will not participate in the conversation. At least that is what Wars told me. Finally, we arrived at the place, where Time was already waiting thoughtfully.
— So, what is all this about? – Hyrule took the words from my mouth, drawing the hero of time’s attention to the group.
— Boys, this won’t be about anything new for you, this is nothing more than a conversation so she knows everything. We can’t leave her in the dark. – Time looked serious, obviously talking about me. The others relaxed when they understood what it was about, only to tense up again at my future reaction, while I just looked confused. – First of all, know that this is all very serious and important, please don’t go spreading this around, it could end up causing panic and confusion among the common people.
It was obvious that now he would only be talking to me, his instructions and explanations would be directed to me, so why would he call the others too? Unless... okay, I get it, he’s going to tell the truth. But why? Is it really necessary for me to know his secret, even though I’m traveling with them?
— You may have heard of the Legend of the Hero, you most likely know the hero of your time-
— Yes, Wild. I mean, his name is Link, everyone knows that since he defeated the Calamity. And I had also seen him in the stable before, that’s why I recognized him. – I interrupted him, I couldn’t pretend to be a complete layman, it would be strange if I didn’t know who Wild really was.
— Okay, I expected you already knew. But about those who came before him, with the same name, his past incarnations. They all lived a long time ago, some of their adventures were told as legends, although many have been lost over time, they all had the spirit of the hero that connected them. – I knew that very well, I knew where he was going with it. – We are those heroes.
I tried to pretend to be surprised. It didn’t work. Everyone expected some reaction from me, maybe disbelief, curiosity, anything, but I couldn’t fake it, that was a kind of lie I wasn’t used to.
— Oh, wow, the heroes of Hyrule? From different eras and... Yeah, I already imagined it. – I gave up pretending and just assumed the truth, or part of it. I received some looks of surprise, curiosity or distrust. Except for Wind, his expression said “I knew it!” – Look, I’m sorry, but from the moment I recognized Wild, it became easy to imagine just finding out a little about you. I mean, you all look so similar that you seem like brothers, you are all experienced heroes like you’ve never seen in a common adventurer, you all use strange nicknames including the one I already knew as Link. From then on, and from some whispers that you thought I didn’t hear, it wasn’t hard to assume this possibility. Of course I wasn’t sure, it seemed absurd, but time travel would be much less unrealistic than if all of this was just a big coincidence, let’s face it!
Everyone looked at me surprised, shocked, I think Legend was even a little offended that I had, theoretically, discovered them so easily. Well, I already knew long before, but I think I would have noticed it even without memories of my last life. Time seemed a little suspicious when I started talking, but he just sighed and accepted it.
— Well, I guess that makes our job easier then. – Wild’s voice, which seemed to be trying to smooth things over, caught everyone’s attention.
— I knew you called me Link! – Wind exclaimed victoriously. – You’re a terrible liar, you know? But that’s good, at least we know we can trust you. – My heart sank, oh, child, if you knew, you might never forgive me.
— But that’s not the only matter to be discussed. – Everyone’s attention returned to Time, who seemed even more serious. – The real problem is about our current mission, we can’t take you with us without you knowing the dangers you’ll be exposed to. – The atmosphere became tense again, once again everyone knew what it was about, but now I really had no idea.
— We didn’t meet by our own will, we don’t know how it happened, portals simply started appearing and when we went through them we found each other. The problem started when that shadow you met appeared. He’s a different enemy than we’ve dealt with before, and it seems the goddesses are telling us we need to work together to deal with him. – Warriors said, which helped to alleviate the atmosphere of a father’s lecture that was present when only the Old Man spoke.
— The problem is that our last attempt to face him only resulted in a seriously injured Twilight and the enemy recovering after we believed we had defeated him. This shows that the situation we’re in is dangerous in many ways. Going with us means being aware of the risk of getting hurt. – Wild was the one who continued the explanation. This was all new to me. I didn’t know what to think.
— But not going with you means being totally vulnerable to this shadow that may or may not come after me. – I said thoughtfully. Of course I wouldn’t choose to be in danger voluntarily, but in this case it’s a possible danger or an almost certain death.
— There’s the other problem too. – Twilight mentioned, drawing attention to another point. – The portals appear out of nowhere, and they seem to be related to which era the shadow is in, which forces us to go through it when it appears. But this also takes us to different times, different Hyrules, and we never know when we’ll be able to return to our own. Going with us also forces you to go through these portals, running the risk of all of us being trapped in some random time. – The atmosphere became even more tense. It seemed that this was a sensitive topic for everyone there, after all, they were also running this risk, one that they had no way of controlling.
The idea of perhaps never seeing my parents again made me want to cry. This was a terrible possibility, even more so because I had no way of contacting them and explaining everything. What if they thought I had abandoned them? But then again, what choice would I have, stay and die or go and try to survive and return to my family, both options were bad, but one was still bearable.
— What choice do I have? At least if I go, I can fight to survive and return to my family. Even if there’s a chance I’ll never return, it’s still better than the possibility of ending up dead without even trying. – The urge to cry must have been visible in my voice, because everyone looked at me worriedly.
— Hey, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to talk to your parents often through letters! There’s a mailman who somehow always brings our letters, no matter where we are. – Wind tried to cheer me up, but I’m not sure if that was true.
— What? How?
— We don’t know either, but at least it’s pretty useful. – Sky seemed frustrated about something as he said that.
I noticed everyone who seemed to look at me with compassion. They knew very well how difficult all of this was, goddesses, they’d been through things a thousand times worse and were still there, fighting for the good of the kingdom. The desire to be with them hit me, it had been so long since I felt as good as when I was with them, my life seemed like a pit of boredom and monotony before, and with them, even in boring or dangerous situations, I feel so alive. I feel so myself.
— What are you looking at? Do you think I’m going to give up? As if! You’ve been stuck with me for a long time, don’t forget that I still have a long debt with you! – I said excitedly, hiding any fear or hesitation that might appear in my voice or expression. It finally seemed to work, because they cheered up.
— I guess you’re officially part of the Chain. Welcome! – Hyrule joked as he and Wild approached for a sloppy side hug to welcome them.
— The Chain? OH, because your names are Link! I see, good, very funny. – They laughed at my slowness and I felt my cheeks heat up slightly with embarrassment.
Time sighed, but he seemed relieved, I think the worry had been taking over his mind for some time.
— Well, if it’s settled, then I guess there’s nothing more to be said. – The Old man concluded, releasing everyone for the rest of the day, to get ready to leave in the morning. We all returned to the village together, dispersing throughout it. I was finally starting to fit in, it was still just a beginning, but at least they trusted me enough to tell me everything, even if it was out of necessity.
I walked absentmindedly towards the inn, thinking about finishing the book I’d been trying to read for na hour. I didn’t pay much attention when each of them stopped walking in the same direction as me, I only noticed that little by little the number of people around me decreased as everyone went to different places. Everyone, except...
— I don’t really trust you. – Legend said, as we walked side by side to the inn.
— What do you mean? – I asked, genuinely lost in the conversation.
— About finding out everything by yourself. That’s weird, no matter how obvious you say it was. I don’t think you have bad intentions that you hide from everyone, you’re too dumb for that, but there’s still something you’re hiding, isn’t there? – He stopped walking as he spoke and I did the same to keep listening, not wanting to be rude.
— I’m not hiding anything, not about this or anything related to you. Of course I’m not going to go around exposing all the secrets of my personal life, no offense, but I don’t really trust you either. – I think he was offended, by the expression on his face, but it was the truth. – I know having me around you is a nuisance, I know you didn’t want me here, maybe you’re even angry with me, but I’m sorry, I didn’t ask for this either. – As much as I tried to stay calm, I think I sounded irritated when I said that, because he didn’t like it very much. – I... I’m tired, I’m doing my best to be positive about all this, I really am, but in reality I’m scared, and maybe that’s what you think I’m hiding, which let’s face it, you can’t even call hiding.
I said it without any irritation in my voice, like I said, I’m tired, scared, and sometimes that could come out of my mask. Unfortunately for me, Legend was the one who could see that, which doesn’t help at all. But I can’t understand why he looked at me like that, maybe he was looking for a lie in my words, maybe he just lost interest, I couldn’t read him.
— Like I said... I don’t think that you have bad intentions. It’s okay to keep secrets, I guess. Everyone does. But don’t expect to try to find out other people’s secrets without revealing your own. – I feel like that wasn’t what I really wanted to say, it was like I was saying anything to not stay quiet. – You’re not a bother, it’s just unknown to me, and that’s annoying, I’m a curious guy. – That last part must have been my imagination, but he seemed to be joking, trying to be nice or something. If I closed my eyes a little it would even seem like flirting. God, what a ridiculous thought, considering what he just said that was closer to a threat.
I watched him walk away while I stood there processing everything. I think I said a lot of unnecessary nonsense. “I’m tired”? What did I expect? That he would take pity on me and stop trying to find out my dark secret that could ruin everything? I think I’m really tired, like I need a nap. It seems like all I’ve been doing is eating, sleeping, and showering these past few days—I’m actually going to take a shower before bed—but I really want to enjoy it while I can, who knows how long I’ll be traveling with nine men nonstop.
When I got to the inn, I asked if I could take the book I was reading to my room. After receiving permission, I went up to my room, left the book on the bed, and went straight to the bathtub.
It was a relief, for sure. It felt good to feel so relaxed and clean. I took a few minutes in the shower before getting out and putting on my old, now clean clothes that would be more comfortable for sleeping. I went to bed, lay under the covers, and started reading the book. Everything was going well until I fell asleep. Maybe it would be better to take a nap and read later. I’d be able to think better that way.
I was ready to put the book aside and go to sleep, until I heard a knock on the door.
— Hey, can I come in?

Responsible Actions - A Spiritual Story
It’s a pleasure to lay myself out with great vulnerability in this newsletter. I don’t think there is one of you who hasn’t lived through those times when you feel emotionally, physically, mentally in a wobbly space, where you are completely unsure.
There have been some really on the edge parts of my life, and those were where I had to take the advice of an honest tough love girlfriend, and pull up my big girl panties, to simply get on with it.
I had recently opened a fair size healing center. It had the potential for an open classroom, in the center of it all, with 5 healing rooms off that open space. I had met a young, gifted British healer, who was willing to step in with me, to share that space. I was smart enough to create the whole foundation as a corporation, protecting whatever was going to be generated.
Four months into that commitment, my mother became really, very ill. She was diagnosed with an unusual, aggressive cancerous tumor behind her nasal cavity. They operated within days, removing half of her face. It was a horrendous thing to “face” for her and a complete shock for me. I was managing my time between her healing, doctor visits, small repair surgeries, prosthetic appointments to provide parts to make her face more acceptable publicly. I went to the center, then rushed home, feeding her soup and liquids only, because she had such a challenge to sustain life, then returning to the center to work with clients, to keep the new business moving along.
My British partner wasn’t happy to take on so much, and turned all my part-time staff against me, then her and all of them all quit the same day. I was fully responsible for a large center, all the costs and potential work that could come into it, all by myself. I was also responsible for helping my beloved, brave mum to return to full health. It was a lot!
I took as much action as I could, and was openly promoting my business, pulling in people to rent space and fill the rooms with healers. I was also rushing home every meal time, to feed and comfort my mum as she grew stronger.
I was in full action mode, on the treadmill of business, and being busy in all areas of life. I still had a child at home who needed dropping off, picking up and help with homework.
I didn’t realize how raw and truly vulnerable I was until I received a letter from an attorney, representing the British woman, who was attempting to sue me for the full return of her portion of any and all investment into my new business. I completely lost it, burst into tears and was not consolable. This was my breaking point. My husband, who had been leading his life the same as he always had, suddenly awoke, stepped up and had a good friend of his respond to the legal demands. Thank goodness I had set up the business as a corporation, allowing no room for such frivolous demands to be met.
The British woman went away. My husband was quite the hero at that time for me. My mum got strong and returned to the healing center, and I lived to fight for another beautiful day in the light of a healer.
This for me, was an example of responsible action at a time in life when it was needed the most.

Volt 12 | Character Profile | Volt 14
"Hey Dad! Did Pops move my meds to the high shelf again? I can't find them!" I anxiously paced the kitchen, not mentally prepared for my first day at UA. Let alone having my dad as my homeroom teacher and All Might as a teacher in general. My dad sent me a cautious glance at my pacing, studying me for a moment before grabbing my meds from the top shelf. I hoisted myself on top of the kitchen counter, ready for a lecture after my medication but it never came.
"It's normal to be nervous for your first day." I looked at my dad while I fidgeted.
"Can we go over everything again? I'm just freaking out. Probably for no reason but I am." He nodded and took a sip of his coffee.
"The school has your educational plan and even if they didn't, I'm your primary teacher and Pops is your english teacher. So you're allowed to have your fidget cube, you're allowed to have your earbuds in during independent work and tests. If you have to go to see Chiyo at any time you just have to tell the teacher and leave. You and Hitoshi will be the first ones there basically everyday. And you won't get docked points for turning in work late as long as it's done in full." I nodded along while he spoke, the reassurance working wonders on my nervous system.
"Okay.."
"Still freaking out about your first day?" I looked at my brother and nodded sheepishly. "It won't be that bad, we just have All Might as a teacher." I groaned and hopped off the counter, trying to force that thought away from my mind.
"Joy." Our dad chuckled at my deadpanned words before finally getting us out the door.
"Okay, I have to go talk to Sunshine and Nemuri in the teachers lounge, so boys, keep an eye on each other and no wandering off." We nodded and found our desks, setting our things there before sitting on the counter next to the windows.
"Do you think he's in our class?" I sighed at my brothers question and nervously watched the door.
"Which he? Bakugou or a certain green haired boy you've been crushing on for over a year now?" Hitoshi bumped his shoulder into mine, joking around at my remark. "I hope Bakugou isn't in here, I don't want to get in another fight." He snorted at my words but knew the truth held to them.
"We only know that the four of us got in, there's another hero class so maybe he didn't get into ours." I nodded along, hoping that's what happened.
We watched students come in one by one. A few of them stopped to talk to us until Bakugou walked in like he owned the place, he sat at his desk and we glared at each other. Hitoshi gave me a look, silently telling me to just leave it be. He kicked his feet up on the desk right as a different student walked in. Another blond trailed in shortly after, a black lightning bolt in his hair.
"Hey, the names Kaminari Denki. Wait weren't you in the same area as me for the exam?" I looked at the blond and nodded, remembering that electric blond hair and bright smile.
"Yeah, you had a few lichtenberg figures on your arms cause uh Recovery Girl had to heal some people and we were stuck waiting outside her office." He sheepishly rubbed his neck, his hair flopping to the side a bit.
"Yeah, didn't she have to patch you up to cause your quirk?" It was my turn to sheepishly nodded.
"Yeah, I uh, strained my vocal cords."
"I didn't even know those could strain!" I chuckled lightly, trying not to nervous ramble because he was cute, and he was talking to me. However we were interrupted by a student yelling and Kaminari excused himself.
"Take your feet off of that desk now!" I hid my smirk as the kid with glasses yelled at Bakugou.
"Oh this is gonna be good." I whispered to Hitoshi, the two of us perking up as Midoriya froze in the doorway.
"Huh?" I grimaced at Bakugou's sarcastic tone.
"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!" I couldn't control my laughter anymore, officially amused at the new kid trying to put the blond in his place. He clearly went to a private school.
"You're kidding me, right? Your old school put a stick up your ass? Or were you born with it?" I made haste getting across the room to my friend, making sure I could play interference with Bakugou when needed.
"Hey Midoriya." I mumbled as Toshi and I walked over to our friend. He squeaked out of anxiousness.
"H-Hi! I didn't know Kacchan was in this class!" We nodded in sync, about to respond until two students interrupted us.
"Good morning! My name is Iida Tenya from Somei Private Academy!"
"Tsukare Onryo."
"Shinsou Hitoshi."
"I'm Midoriya Izuku. It's super nice to meet you." His voice wavered and I looked at my friend worried.
"Midoriya. You realized that there was something more to the practical exam, didn't you?" Now I was just confused. "You must be very perceptive. And I completely misjudged you, I admit. As a student, you're far superior to me." A girl came up after so Hitoshi and I took that as our cue to leave, I could almost smell his jealousy.
I was sat between Bakugou and Kaminari, I know it wasn't on purpose but it still sucks. Meanwhile Hitoshi sat directly behind Midoriya and because there's an odd number of students, a girl with a black ponytail was placed up front on the far end. Thankfully we sat down when we did because not even a minute later, I saw our dad flop down outside the door in his sleeping bag.
"If you're just here to make friends then you can pack up your stuff now." I tried not to laugh at how ridiculous he looked. "Welcome to UA's hero course." He unzipped his sleeping bag and pulled out one of his protein pouches. I looked at Hitoshi and found him trying not to laugh as well. We watched as he stood up and stepped out of his sleeping bag. "It took eight seconds before you all shut up. That's not gonna work. Time is precious. Rational students would understand that." He looked over and I hoped nobody could put together he was at least one of our fathers. We know how dangerous it could be. "Hello, I'm Aizawa Shouta. Your teacher." The rest of the class gasped in shock except me, Toshi and another student. "Right, let's get to it. Put these on and head outside." He pulled out the gym uniform and I felt my blood run cold. I don't wear short sleeves outside and I don't want to give anyone any ammunition against me.
I followed Hitoshi and rushed to the locker room with him, hoping if I get there soon enough then I can change in a bathroom stall. My skin was starting to crawl at the thought of people seeing and judging. Hitoshi and I were thankfully the first ones there so I booked it to the bathroom and started changing, freezing up when a vicious banging rapped on the door.
"Get the hell outta there already, I gotta use it." My throat welled up and I didn't know what to do.
"There's another stall, use that one." He borderline growled but I heard the door next to me slam and I willed myself not to cry. To not let the flashbacks come back. A light knocking brought me out of my thoughts.
"Onryo, you alright? We have to head out." I heard the door open and shut multiple times, students leaving the locker room. The stall door next to me slammed shut, rattling the walls and making it harder to breathe.
'Why is this happening?'
"T-Tell him I'm going to see Chiyo." There was a heavy pause before I heard him mumble okay and leave.
After a moment I raced to Chiyo's office in my gym uniform, keeping my arms wrapped tightly around my stomach as a form of comfort. Dad might be upset I'm missing the first the lesson but he knows enough about my quirk and if needed I can make it up later.
Chiyo looked up as I stumbled into her office, short, quiet breathes that were labored with tears flowing down my cheeks.
"Oh dear, come sit, come sit. Let me get you some water." I sat on one of the cots, watching closely as she drew the privacy curtain. "Here you go dear, do you want me to call one of your dads? And do you need your medication?" I nodded to both, not really paying attention. Everything was too much. Everything was overwhelming. The memories. The flashbacks.
I swallowed the pill without thinking, my leg bouncing rapidly and I didn't have anything to cope.
"Onryo?" I heard Pops' voice as the door opened. His head popped in between the curtain and he moved to sit down next to me, an arm wrapping around my shoulder. "Panic attack?" I nodded, placing my head on his shoulder. "Do you know what caused it?" I nodded again. "Do you wanna talk about it?" I sniffled and wiped my eyes, the tingling feeling starting to subside.
"Can I talk about it at home or after I talk about it with Chiyo? So I know how to word it better?" He placed a kiss to my forehead and ruffled my hair.
"Okay, we'll talk about it later then, yeah?" I nodded and gave him a hug, holding him tightly for comfort. He hugged me back, rubbing soothing circles on my back. "I have to leave for my next class, little listener, but I'll see you for English. I love you."
"Love you too." He smiled and left the room, exchanging a few pleasantries with Chiyo before the door clicked shut.
"We'll talk about this more tomorrow, you sit and relax here until the next class, dear."
"Is it okay if I go change back into my uniform first?" She nodded and I wasted no time in getting up and rushing back to the locker rooms. It didn't take me long to change thankfully, and before I knew it I was sitting on the cot again. "Chiyo?"
"Yes, dear?" I clicked my fidget a few times as I thought about my words.
"Do you know why I had flashbacks?" She spun around in her seat, looking at me with a sad face.
"It could be an anniversary effect. This is about the time you were with your first foster family." I nodded, puzzle pieces finally clicking together.
"Will I ever get better?" She hopped down and sat next to me, placing a cold hand on top of mine.
"It may not feel like it but you have, time heals wounds. Yes you'll have setbacks, and it may not seem like you've grown, but I remember this small, skittish boy afraid of his own shadow sitting in my office who barely had a taste of love or happiness. Now, he's gotten in a fight to stick up for his friend, has dreams and accomplishments at a young age, and beat some dark times. And I'm very proud of him." I almost cried at her words.
"If I asked you to, would you heal my scars?" She pondered it for a moment but I already knew her answer.
"No, I don't think so. They show where you've been, what you've overcome, how you got to be where you're at today. There may be bad memories tied to them, but if I took them away then you wouldn't be able to find the positive outlook yourself. I can't give you all the answers after all." I sniffled and wiped a stray tear.
"Sometimes you never fail to confuse me Chiyo." She hummed and patted my hand once more before getting off the cot.
"My job isn't to make sense all the time, now is it?" I chuckled slightly, still coming down from the panic attack.
"Uhh, Recovery Girl?" I piped up at the sound of my friends voice. "I hurt my finger using my quirk, Mr. Aizawa sent me here." Something about Midoriya being a late bloomer for a quirk is still sitting odd with me. I suppose it can happen but it shouldn't be putting this much strain on his body. It feels like he's lying about something though and it's giving me a bad feeling. "Tsukare? What are you doing here?"
"Uh, I'll explain later." Midoriya nodded quickly, his green hair flopping everywhere. "I'll see you back at class, yeah?"
"Okay!" I quickly left, saying goodbye to Chiyo and awkwardly walked to the classroom door.
Dad stared at me as I walked in, shooting me a knowing look that would be scary to anyone else as I sat back at my seat. I could practically feel Hitoshi and Bakugou drilling holes into my head with how hard they were staring and glaring. Classes dragged, I couldn't focus, my mind all over the place until the lunch bell rang.
"Onryo, would you mind staying after for a moment?" I nodded, noticing how Hitoshi and Midoriya decided to wait outside the door for me. "Hitoshi told me you had to go to Chiyo's office, is everything okay?" I hesitantly nodded, bouncing my leg where I stood.
"Pops swung down to the nurses office to check in on me, I uh, had a panic attack." His tired eyes shot up to me in concern since I hadn't had one in a while. "I talked to Chiyo about it and I told Pops I would explain more back at home, if that's okay." He nodded softly, his long hair covering most of his face.
"Get to lunch, Hitoshi and I will fill you in later on what you missed during the exercise." I quietly agreed and left the classroom to find not only Midoriya and Hitoshi, but also the girl from earlier. I didn't really catch her name but my brother looked uncomfortable.
"Sorry, he wanted to know why I wasn't at the exercise earlier." The three nodded while Hitoshi just stuck his hands in his pockets.
"I don't think I've introduced myself to you yet. I'm Uraraka Ochaco!" I gave her a smile and waved slightly.
"I'm Tsukare Onryo."
——————
"Onryo? Do you wanna talk about what happened earlier?" Pops asked from the living room. I rubbed the back of my neck as I sat on the couch with my family, already feeling guilty about problems arising again.
"I had flashbacks again." My leg bounced rapidly and I tried to stop the tears that wanted to surface, my voice getting thicker as I tried to speak. "Bakugou was pounding on the door when I was getting changed and then slammed the other one twice. I talked to Chiyo, she said it's probably an anniversary effect. So it should be done soon I guess." All eyes were on me and it made me even more anxious.
"Well, there's only so much we can do. So let's ride this out, it's just another speed bump, little listener." I nodded stiffly, wiping my eyes before any tears could fall.
"So uh, what did I miss during the exercise?"
"Dad restrained Bakugou with his capture weapon and erased his quirk cause he tried to blow up on Midoriya." I couldn't stop the small chortle of amusement from leaving my body.
"I wish I could've seen it."
"Let's just hope tomorrow you don't go against Bakugou in the mock battles for hero training." I groaned and rolled onto the couch, grabbing onto our dark grey house cat Mittens and hugged her close to my chest.
Hopefully Pops didn't design my hero costume horribly.

so i’m trying to write duke and i don’t think i’m writing him right. how would you describe his personality because with don’t trust fanon lmfaooo
(this was only supposed to be a paragraph or two i swear to god)
1. first things first, duke is a hardcore gryffindor. don’t let the yellow color scheme mislead you, okay. and while most of the time he’s depicted in fanon as “omg this family is crazy and i’m the only sane one,” it’s actually pretty much the opposite? if anything, i think the other batkids would be like “oh finally, someone who can match our level of chaotic energy. HEY DUKE WANNA BUNGEE JUMP OFF WAYNE TOWER—” and an hour later they’d all be in the batcave getting lectured by bruce for leading poor sweet innocent duke astray when really he was already planning on doing that this weekend.
listen, this is the kid who once jumped off a bridge to escape police. this is the dude who decided to fight criminals while they’re still eating their wheaties at 6am in a bright yellow suit. and while duke seems to be the best at following bruce’s command at the moment due to having been trained by him most recently compared to the others and is still figuring out how to be a hero, i’m positive that if bruce weren’t here to guide him, duke would be running around gotham taking down criminals anyway. i mean, he literally did do that with the “we are robin” kids. plus there was the whole thing when he was like ten years old and decided “i am going to singlehandedly stop the riddler in my light up sketchers and pikachu backpack. try and stop me.”
duke is headstrong and has a strong drive toward heroism. he’s an extremely enthusiastic and passionate person in general, and i try to capture a little of that when i write him, even with mundane things like trying to beat his siblings to the last cupcake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. another thing i noticed is that duke swears like a sailor in comics? seriously, this boy could give jason a run for his money with how many “@#!%” speech bubbles there are. i don’t know if this is just a trend the writers added in the comics i’ve read of him, or if it’s a genuine trait throughout every comic he’s in, but that’s something to make note of when writing dialogue for duke. after all, he did grow up in the narrows, so it makes sense that he’d use a lot of swearing and slang in his everyday vernacular.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. i would also make a point of noting that duke is fairly young compared to the rest of the batfamily, being the second youngest after damian. duke is still a teenager in high school, and he acts like it. he’s got homework and friends and is eager to make a difference in gotham, trying to juggle everything and make it all work somehow. he’s stubborn and doesn’t give up easily, so it’s important to write him as someone who is trying to save the world while also struggling with finding time to study for his next math test. he's human. he doesn’t get to dedicate all of his time to fighting crime like cass or jason might be able to, since duke is still a mostly normal teenager with teenager problems.
Tumblr media
4. and don’t forget that unlike the other batkids, duke still has two living parents. sure, they’re jokerized and might not ever be the same again, but they’re alive and that’s what holds him back from letting himself get as close to the waynes as he wants to. duke won’t be calling bruce “dad” anytime soon, and i think he’d have some internal struggle over stuff like holidays and birthdays with the waynes, remembering what his parents are missing out on and wondering if joining the wayne family is a betrayal to them. duke is very conflicted over this, even if he doesn’t say it directly. stuff like ducking out of movie night early or feeling a bittersweet pang during thanksgiving dinner makes sense for someone in his situation.
(i usually ignore that aspect in my fics because i want duke to just be adopted and part of the family already, but not everyone does that, and that’s perfectly fine.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. honestly, duke is such a caring individual and we as a fandom need more of him being a shoulder for people to lean on because he’s?? so soft?? duke can be so sympathetic and rational when it comes to emotional problems. it seems like duke internalizes every bit of advice he gets from the people around him and uses it to inspire others and help them through their own problems. as tough and hotheaded as duke can sometimes be, he really is good when it comes to emotions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. duke is a smartass. he will 100% use sarcasm against any and every authority figure he meets, usually just for the hell of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. he’s very frank in general, usually the first to be like “okay full disclosure, we’re about to die right now. that sucks. anyway—” in a situation. he’s honest and tends to be upfront about his fears/anxieties, usually for comic relief, but i think it still counts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. okay i have to add that duke is also kind of a punk? he and jason have a lot in common because of this: they both grew up in one of gotham’s worse areas (jay in crime alley and duke in the narrows) and they’re both highkey deliquents. duke has no problem getting into fights or talking back to authority figures, and it’s gotten him in hot water on more than one occasion. it’s why he kept getting moved around the foster system before bruce took him in because no one wanted to keep him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. he’s also gotten so close with the other batkids and we love to see it!! duke calls cass “sis” and treats damian like the annoying little brother he never had and i adore every second of it. we haven’t gotten a lot of interactions between duke and the others aside from training and stuff, but he and jason have the whole “punk kid who got adopted by batman and is baffled by how rich people live” going for them, so they can bond over that. and duke is a thinker like tim, so they can hang out and do puzzles or play chess or whatever it is that smart people do. (and duke and steph are BESTIES i don’t care what anyone says.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
10. most of all, duke is still learning how the whole hero thing works. he’s young and he’s trying his best, but he also makes mistakes. he will be impulsive and screw up, and he’ll try and merge the lessons batman’s taught him and that his parents taught him and that other heroes teach him until it all makes sense in his own mind. duke isn’t experienced like dick or even damian, so he’s going to be lagging behind for a while until he grows until the role he’s made for himself.
Tumblr media
other miscellaneous details to include:
- duke is dating izzy, who used to be part of the “we are robin” gang with him - he used to live at the manor and now lives with his cousin jay, but honestly i just have him living at the manor in everything i write because i like it better that way - he can control shadows and light now! what a king! - duke secretly writes poetry and is good at creative writing in general  - this:
Tumblr media
- duke is super smart?? he figured out that agent 37 was dick grayson without even trying?? i’m so proud of him - his biological father is this supervillain called gnomon so now duke has got four parents: his mom, his dad, his supervillain dad, and bruce (plus selina if you count her as the batkids’ stepmom, which i do) - jason calls him “narrows” and i love that
- and, lastly, the most important panel in the history of comics:

MAY 2006
FORT WORTH, TX
It was just barely six in the morning when you pulled into the parking lot of the precinct. Although the sun hadn’t peaked over the horizon yet, you were surprisingly awake. In preparation for the day you had gone to bed at eight the night before which left you well-rested and alert. There was no way you were going to let yourself be off your game. Not today. Of all your classmates, you had certainly progressed the quickest. Due to your high success rate, your professor had authorized you to shadow the team of FBI profilers that were coming to your city for a case. It was an amazing opportunity for someone with a over a year left before graduation so you immediately accepted. Not allowing yourself to make even the slightest mistake, you planned everything down to the last detail in the days leading up to this. Nothing would be able to faze you. With the confidence of a woman who’d been working in this precinct all her life, you strode into the lobby. The receptionist asked for your ID which you quickly displayed. It was only temporary but even so, there was a certain amount of power you felt when she cleared you to continue into the building. After stopping briefly to ask for directions you made your way back to the Police Chief’s office. When he hears your knock, he looks up from his paperwork with a polite smile.
“Well, good morning. What can I help you with?” Clearing your throat, you prepare your most professional voice as you reply.
“My name is Y/N L/N. We met earlier this week. I’m going to be shadowing the team of profilers who are flying in today.” Recognition crosses his features as he makes his way over to shake your hand.
“Of course. I remember. It’s nice to see you again. You’re very punctual. That’s a good skill to hang on to.” You smile in gratitude. “Well, the profilers aren’t here just yet. If you’d like you can wait in here or we can find an empty desk for you.”
“Actually, I was hoping I could look over the case files. I’d like to be as up-to-date as possible before they arrive.” As he nods, the two of you make your way into the hallway. Towards the back corner of the common workspace is an empty desk that he allows you to sit at. While you put your things down and take a seat he disappears long enough to retrieve a file folder and set it on the desk in front of you.
“This should be enough information for you to be able to help out. If you’ve got any questions in the meantime, you know where I’m at.” With another polite smile, he leaves you to continue his paperwork. It doesn’t take long for you to read the case file. There had been a conspicuous string of murders in the area, which began about two weeks ago. Four couples were murdered in their homes, all wealthy without children. A list of witnesses and family members had been compiled to make the interview process a little easier. You predicted you’d most likely be helping one of the profilers in questioning the people on this list so you tried your best to memorize the names.
It seemed like hardly any time had passed when you heard the main doors of the precinct opening to reveal a group of five people walking up to the receptionist’s desk. The sight of them immediately perked you up. It was difficult to make out any individual faces at first but you knew these must be the profilers. As they each scanned their IDs and made their way into the main workspace you quickly gathered your things so that you would be ready to move the moment they were. It didn’t take long for the Chief of Police to reappear, welcoming the profilers and showing them where they could set up their equipment. Every member of the team had a distinctly different look and behavior but they all seemed to work in unison. Even though they’d only been there for five minutes they exuded professionalism and efficiency. As you watched them you had to remind yourself to breathe. You had as much right to be there as them. Admittedly they did have a lot more experience than you but that didn’t change the fact that you’re all on the same team now.
Waiting patiently, you finish putting the case file back together and fold your hands to rest them on the edge of the desk. When the Chief of Police calls you over you gather up your things and make your way around the various desks to stand next to him.
“This here is Miss L/N. She’s a student at our local university. She’s gonna be tagging along with you guys today for a little real-world practice.” As he introduces you, you take the opportunity to study the faces of the people in front of you. There is only one you recognize for certain. They all have their attention set on you as well which makes you suddenly very aware of yourself. “Anyway, I’ll let you all introduce yourselves.” With a nod, he turns to speak to you. “If you don’t mind stopping by my office at the end of the day, I’ll get you all checked out alright? In the meantime, have fun I guess.” He adds with a laugh before finally leaving you alone with the others.
The first one to extend his hand to you is the one person you are familiar with. More than familiar, seeing as he is kind of your hero. You had been the one to initiate the arrangement, having sent him an email a few weeks ago. He had seemed more than willing to let you work with them for the day and he was nothing but helpful, just like you knew he would be. Seeing him now was nearly surreal.
“Y/N, I remember.” He begins, shaking your hand. “It’s nice to meet you. I’m Jason Gideon, as you know. Glad to have you on board.”
“It’s absolutely an honor to meet you, sir. I’ve been a follower of your work since I knew what profiling was. I am so grateful for this opportunity. I am more than ready to help in any way I can.” As you speak, a warm smile lights his face. One of friendliness and hope.
“Of course. I think I speak for my team when I say we’re grateful as well. Not many people in our field get a chance to guide the next generation to a life of helping others. Anything we can do to support you as a future member of our team, we’re happy to do.” This response is entirely heartfelt and shocking to you. Of all the ways you’d imagined this interaction starting, this wasn’t what you had in mind and yet it was exactly what you needed.
“Thank you, sir.” Was all you could manage as you work to maintain your fading air of professionalism.
“Well, with that I’ll let everyone do their own introductions.” Almost immediately another man stepped out of line and reached for your hand. He was very conventionally handsome and the way he carried himself told you he knew that he was good-looking. The smile he flashed you was contagious as you shook hands with him.
“Nice to meet you, sweetheart. I’m Agent Derek Morgan and I am very excited to get to know you.” The woman next to him has to pull him away, shooting him a look. She seems very severe and yet when she turns to look at you there is a distinct kindness in her eyes.
“Knock it off Morgan. You’re gonna scare her off before she even gets a chance to meet anyone else.” She says over her shoulder, taking your hand. “I’m Elle. If he keeps bugging you, I’ll be more than happy to rough him up for you.” Morgan holds his hands up defensively when he catches Elle’s eye again before giving you a small wink.
“Nice to meet you both.” It’s hard to contain your laughter but you manage, giving a small smile instead. Another woman is standing beside Gideon who shakes your hand. She is very beautiful and seems to exude confidence and grace.
“I’m JJ. I’m the Communications Liaison for the BAU. We spoke briefly last week.” You nod in recognition. She had helped you coordinate the time and place to meet up for the day.
“Of course. Very nice to meet you in person.”
“Likewise. We’re excited to be working with you.” She gives you a warm smile which you gladly return before looking to the last person in the small group. He looks to be about your age, very sensibly dressed with a nice posture. There is a slight awkwardness in the way that he shakes your hand but he gives you a quick smile and you can see that he has a hidden friendliness in his demeanor.
“I’m Dr. Spencer Reid.” He says shortly to which you politely nod.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” With that, you turn back to Gideon to ask about your assignment for the day. However, you can’t help but feel like something is missing. “I read through the case file this morning so I can be of use wherever I’m needed. Did you have an assignment in mind or will I be moving around throughout the day?”
“I think it would be beneficial for you to work with SSA Hotchner. He should be here any minute.” That’s what was missing. Hotchner. You had heard his name before but you didn’t know much about him. As you waited for him to arrive, Gideon began delegating tasks to each of the other members. Despite not being given a task yet you listened intently until the front doors of the precinct opened.
However you had pictured Hotchner, the man that walked through that door was the furthest thing from what you expected. The sight of him striding in from the lobby made your breath catch in your throat. There was an innate power in the way that he moved. So much purpose and intensity. His eyes were dark and they found your face almost immediately. It was enough to make you squirm but you maintained your composure. Gideon turned to greet him before gesturing back towards you. “This is Y/N L/N. She’s a student who is here to shadow the team for the day.”
With the slightest hesitation, you extended your hand toward him. His eyes didn’t leave yours for a moment as he shook your hand.
“I’m SSA Aaron Hotchner. It’s very nice to meet you.” He spoke with a clear sense of professionalism.
“It’s nice to meet you too. I’m looking forward to working with you. I have a feeling I’m going to learn a lot from this experience.”
“I hope so. It was very smart of you to seize this opportunity. It does not come around often. Soak up everything you can today and I’m sure it will bring you a lot of success in the future.” You listen to him intently, nodding with a small smile.
“Hotch, would you mind if she rides along with you today? We’ve got a list of witnesses we need to speak to and I think it would be good for her to get out in the field rather than being stuck here doing paperwork.” Gideon interjects, looking to both of you as he proposes the idea. Hotchner looks around the precinct briefly for the other team members before giving Gideon his attention again.
“Of course. Do I need to brief her on the case?”
“Actually, I already familiarized myself with the case file before you all got here this morning.” You interrupt before Gideon can respond, causing both the men to look at you. “Sir.” You add, clearing your throat. They both share a knowing look.
“Perfect,” Hotchner replied, with a respectful nod. Satisfied with the interaction, Gideon dismissed himself to begin his work leaving the two of you alone. “Give me a few minutes to speak with the Chief of Police and then we can get started. Would you mind waiting out front for me?” You nod eagerly which prompts him to walk back toward the Chief’s office. Once he has disappeared around the corner you make your way to the front of the building, stepping through the main doors. The cool morning air brings with it a sweet wave of relief. You hadn’t realized how hot you were until you had stepped outside. Nerves were already building up in your system when you were being introduced to the rest of the team but meeting Hotchner had tipped you over the edge. There was no denying that he was a very handsome man. The evidence was in the blush that was surely covering your face. Mentally scolding yourself you take a deep breath. You were a professional and you would act as such. No matter how deeply moved you felt when he looked into your eyes like that.
A few minutes later Hotchner made his way through the front doors causing you to stand at attention. Moving briskly, you followed him into the parking lot and pulled yourself into the passenger seat of the dark SUV he had just unlocked. He remained silent as he began typing an address into the GPS before pulling out of the parking lot. Once you were on the road he looked over at you briefly.
“How much do you know about questioning witnesses?” He began.
“Quite a bit. I’m only about a year away from graduation so I have a fairly advanced understanding of a wide variety of concepts that pertain to profiling.” Watching the GPS, he nods. Feeling a tinge of awkwardness, you allow your eyes to stay focused on your lap.
“Good. Any real-world experience?”
“Unfortunately no. In my courses, we do simulate certain scenarios fairly often but there isn’t much opportunity for real application.”
“Well the best advice I can give for today is to stay quiet and watch me. If I need you to speak up, I will tell you as much. Otherwise, don’t say anything. It isn’t that I distrust you. It would just be irresponsible of me to allow someone with zero field experience to question the victim’s friends and family during some of the most difficult times of their lives. Especially without having seen what they’re capable of beforehand. I’m sure you understand.”
“Oh absolutely. I completely understand. I know that I’m here in more of an observational capacity today. And even if I wasn’t, you’re the boss. No explanation necessary.” Hotchner is quiet for a moment. If you hadn’t been so preoccupied with avoiding eye contact, you would have seen the remnants of a smile on his face.
“I should have you talk to the rest of the team. They could learn a thing or two from you.” This causes you to laugh lightly.
When you finally do decide to look at him the sight steals your breath yet again. He is bathed in the golden light of the rising sun and he seems almost ethereal. You can see a flash of his deep brown eyes which seemed very soft now in the glow of the sun. As though he could feel you looking at him he turns to meet your eyes although this time you don’t look away. The two of you sit there in what seems like the most eternal moment, dancing in and out of each other before he breaks away to look back at the road. For a moment you could almost swear you saw something there in his eyes, something almost like longing. It must have just been a trick of the light.
“So, what made you decide to be a profiler?” The moment is over as quickly as it began as he speaks up.
“Well, I’ve always had a deep fascination with the human psyche. Finding out what makes people tick. Picking apart their personalities, their behaviors. Growing up that almost felt like the only way to understand the kids around me. By studying them. Every friendship I had felt like a science project. When I found out that I could use that ability to be part of something bigger than myself, to make the world just a little brighter ... well, it was really a no-brainer.”
“That’s very ... noble and, honestly, very uplifting to hear. With this job, you experience a lot more bad days than you do good. Sometimes it is hard to remember why we started doing this in the first place. It’s people like you that remind me this job is worth it. Hang on to those beliefs. They’ll help keep you sane, I can promise you that.” With a nod, you give him a kind smile.
“I will. I promise.” It isn’t much longer before you arrive at the first house. The interview is fairly straightforward. You stay close by Hotchner’s side as he introduces the both of you. Once you’re inside you sit quietly as he begins asking questions, merely listening and taking mental notes of the way he conducts himself. It is over fairly quickly and then you’re both back in the SUV and off to your next destination. The next two interviews are the same. On the third, he lets you ask a few routine questions. It is a simple gesture but you are very grateful for the experience and you handle yourself very well.
Your final interview is with the parents of the latest male victim. When Hotchner knocks on the door, it takes a minute for it to open. Standing on the other side is an older man with a tired expression.
“Yes? What is it?” The man says briskly. Hotchner pulls out his badge.
“I am SSA Aaron Hotchner with the FBI. This is Miss Y/N L/N. May we come in?” Hearing the term FBI causes the man’s expression to darken rather quickly as he looks between the two of you.
“Where’s your badge?” He questions, nodding in your direction. Remaining silent, you share a look with Hotchner. After a second of thought he gives you a small nod of approval.
“I’m not actually an FBI agent yet, sir. I’m a criminology student at the local university. I’m shadowing Agent Hotchner today as a learning opportunity before getting out in the field myself.”
“A learning opportunity?” It takes the man almost no time to answer and you can hear a significant shift in his voice. “You’re using my son’s death as a learning opportunity?”
“You misunderstand--” Hotchner begins in your defense before you quickly cut him off with your own response.
“Sir, I can’t begin to fathom what you’re going through. But I can promise you that my lack of experience is entirely made up for by my desire to see the person who did this to your son pay for it. It doesn’t take training to see that your son deserves justice for his death.” The man is silent but keeps his eyes locked on yours.
“My wife and I have already told the police everything we know.”
“We know, sir. It will only take a few moments of your time and anything you can tell us might be crucial in finding your son’s killer.”
“No. No, we’ve already talked about this more than any parent should ever have to. If it’s that important go ask the police what we said.”
“Please, sir--” Before he can finish, the man smacks the door frame.
“It took the deaths of eight innocent people for you to swoop in and save the day. You really think I want to waste a second of my time speaking with you? I have nothing more to say. Now get out of here.” With that, Hotchner nods before turning to leave which prompts you to quickly follow. As you get near the SUV you are startled by the sound of the man’s door being slammed shut. Once inside you release the breath that had been caught in your chest. When you look over at Hotchner his expression shows a deadly calmness and you are suddenly struck by the idea that he must be pissed at you.
“I’m so sorry. That was all my fault. I upset him. I shouldn’t have said anything to him. I should have just kept my mouth shut like you told me to. I had no right to do that. I’m sorry.” The crushing weight of embarrassment and guilt settled over you. This morning you had felt more than ready but now it seemed like the day had been filled with challenges you couldn’t possibly have prepared for. In only a few hours you had managed to show your boss that you are completely incompetent. You ready yourself for what must surely be his wrath however when he turns towards you his expression shifts from one of unwavering calm to gentle kindness.
“It’s okay. I’m not angry with you. What you said was perfect, it’s exactly what I would have said. You were establishing a rapport with him to gain his trust. You did the right thing. Believe me, it wasn’t you. There is nothing either of us could have said that would have gotten a different result.” When he sees that you are still wary he shifts in his seat to face you more directly. “As a future member of my team, you have my trust. You handled yourself very impressively today. You’re going to make a very fine addition to the BAU.”
His words ease your anxious mind as you nod quietly. Soon after Hotchner is pulling back out onto the street to take you both back to the police precinct. After a minute of silence he glances over at you.
“So ... are you still sure you want to do this?” The question catches you off-guard but it takes you no time at all to answer.
“More than anything.” This time you do catch the faint smile that crosses his lips which causes you to give a small smile in return.
“Good.” Is all he says for the rest of the ride back to the precinct.
The day is over much more quickly than you had hoped for. When you step back into the police building you make a beeline for the chief’s office, remembering his request that you find him again at the end of the day. You return your temporary ID and he fills out a form for your professor to verify your activity for the day. Once the formalities are over he bids you a good evening and shows you back out to the main workspace. The team all gather briefly to say their goodbyes as well. You thank Gideon profusely for allowing you to join them before shaking hands with the rest of the team members. As you make your way to the exit you see Hotchner standing near the main doors.
“Thank you so much for letting me tag along today. I really learned a lot.” As you say this you extend your hand which he quickly takes.
“Absolutely. It was a pleasure working with you and I look forward to seeing you again in a few years. In the meantime, here’s my card.” He reaches into his inside jacket pocket and pulls out his business card which he hands to you. “If you ever need anything, feel free to give me a call.” Tucking the card safely into your pocket you thank him with a smile before heading out the main doors to your car.
Once inside you pull the card out of your pocket and sit for a minute, staring at it. Unable to control yourself you let a giddy smile paint your face. After the day you had, a year has never seemed longer. The anticipation of your future at the BAU looms over you but rather than filling you with nerves it brings you hope and excitement for the things to come. Opening a small compartment on your dash, you tuck the business card away before heading home to get a good night’s sleep filled with wonderful dreams.

You wake to the distant buzz of household conversation and a distinct absence of the usual presence beside you. Slightly disoriented, you sit up, rubbing at your eyes as the morning light peeking around the edge of your heavy velvet curtains casts the creases of the sheets around you into sharp definition.
A still-steaming mug sits on the bedside table, indicating that it hasn’t been long since your dear husband got up and made you your usual morning cup of tea. There’s a little red flower sitting on the saucer - a Windwheel Aster, which, if the flower language the two of you have developed over time still stands true, means that he’s still at home. He’d have left a Snapdragon if he was going out, a Calla Lily if he’d be gone for the day, or a Cecilia if he’d be away for an extended period of time. Of course, he tells you these things in person when he gets the chance, but, well - duty calls, and duty certainly doesn’t wait for a sensible wake-up time.
You throw your arms up and stretch, limbs trembling slightly as all the knots and cramps that have built up throughout the night finally straighten out. Windwheel Asters usually herald a good day in your household - though with Diluc, they can become Snapdragons and then Calla Lilies in the blink of an eye - and you’re looking forward to spending some time with your husband. It’s been a busy week for the both of you, what with an unexpected increase in the number of Abyss Order attacks cropping up around Mondstadt as well as several sudden unexplained deaths of hunters from Springfield, and you’d really like to have twenty four hours to just relax.
Diluc’s usual coat is still draped over the chair beside the desk, so, after a moment’s thought, you pull it on over your nightclothes. You have the weekend off, anyway - all your pending cases have been essentially solved and are ready to go - so you don’t see any need for donning your usual detective garb, though you do feel tempted to put on your trademark scarf to ward off the morning chill.
You take a few minutes to make the bed and open the curtains before you sit down in the armchair by the window to enjoy your tea. You can see several of the usual workers milling about between the grapevines, as well as what looks like a carrier balloon being docked just by the road. That’s new - deliveries to Dawn Winery usually come by carriage, but then again, the fact that the balloon also appears to be smoking extensively and is being accompanied by a very dishevelled-looking man who looks close to tears indicates that this probably isn’t a delivery,
On further inspection, you realise that your husband is standing nearby the smoking balloon, conversing with a young man with long golden hair tied back in a braid that you’re not particularly familiar with. You’re sure you recognise him from somewhere, though - in the same way that you might recognise the general composition of a painting you’ve seen in passing.
You don’t have time to continue contemplating the boy’s identity, though, because next thing you know, Diluc is leading him inside. You drain the remainder of your tea to the dregs with one gulp and pull yourself to your feet, resolving to go down to greet the two.
While you don’t bother with changing into something more formal, you do take a moment to wash your face and freshen up your breath with some of the mint-water Diluc keeps in the bathroom. You’re not fussed about keeping up a ‘respectable’ image, but you do at least want to be presentable.
Diluc is sitting with his back to you when you slip into the front room, still dressed in just your nightclothes and his overcoat, now with your feet tucked into a comfortable pair of slippers as well. The boy he’d invited in is the first to notice you, looking up from the map in his hands and face steeling slightly as he registers your presence.
An odd little fairy of some kind is bobbing about behind him, chewing on what looks like a large slice of cake. Her eyes widen to the size of saucers as she spots you, exclaiming so loudly that she sprays crumbs all over her unsuspecting golden-haired companion.
“Who’s this?!” she shrieks, alarmed in an almost comically exaggerated way. Her shock sends her even higher into the air, and she threatens to hit the ceiling head-on. “Y-you don’t look like a maid!”
You raise an eyebrow, mildly amused. “That would be because I’m not a maid.”
Diluc finally turns around, eyes lighting up slightly when he sees your choice of attire. A small smile curls at the corners of his lips as he moves to the side, leaving enough room on his seat for you to settle down beside him.
His young friend’s eyes dart between the two of you rapidly as Diluc continues droning on about something to do with transport balloons and the influx of monster activity in the area without a word as to your sudden appearance. He’s certainly quick-witted, you’ll give him that - he seems to deduce your relationship almost immediately.
Still, he asks about it in a polite and roundabout way - bless the boy. You can imagine that he’s a little afraid of making assumptions, especially about a man like Diluc.
“Is that your coat, Master Diluc?”
Diluc pauses in the middle of his explanation, eyebrows lifting slightly. You don’t know why he seems so surprised by the boy’s question - after all, the impression of the prideful Darknight Hero he has probably doesn’t incline him to think of him as a relationship-y sort of man.
“...yes.” He says finally. You don’t miss the way he steals a glance at you through the messy fringe of his red hair.
“Why so surprised?” You chime in, smiling at the boy as he straightens up slightly at the sound of your voice. “Surely you’ve deduced our relation already?”
He looks thoughtful for a moment. “Are you two
 partners?”
You laugh. “Well, you could certainly put it like that.”
“You’re so clueless, Aether!” complains the boy’s fairy companion. “They’re obviously dating or something!”
Aether shoots her an unimpressed look. “That’s what I meant, Paimon.”
“Your name’s Aether, then?” You note. He nods. “Good name, Aether. You seem like a smart boy.”
“Hey!” The fairy glares at you, but it doesn’t really have much effect when she’s got the face of a baby lamb and crumbs still decorating her lower face to boot. “Don’t forget about Paimon!”
“Paimon’s a lovely name too,” You comply with a smile. “Very trustworthy.”
She looks appeased by the compliment, crossing her arms with a smug grin aimed at her taller companion. “See? Paimon’s trustworthy.”
“I heard them, Paimon,” sighs Aether, wearing the kind of expression that tells you he has to put up with this sort of thing a lot.
“What are you doing up so early?” Diluc asks you, and you start slightly at his sudden question. “Normally you sleep til noon on Sundays.”
You shrug and give his thigh a firm pat, taking great enjoyment in the way his ears flame up slightly at the gesture. “Guess I just missed your lovely face.”
The red of his ears darkens. “...you’re ridiculous.”
“You’re cute,” you counter with a smile, leaning forward to kiss the tip of his nose. He chuckles in spite of himself, the corners of his eyes crinkling in a smile that he rarely lets anyone but you see.
“You’re both gross,” Paimon decides with a pout, and the two of you suddenly remember the presence of the two other people in the room. Aether is pointedly staring at a painting on the wall, but at Paimon’s words, he hurriedly turns back.
“No, no, it’s fine,” You laugh, waving off Aether’s apologies for his fairy friend’s comment. “The maids often say the same thing.”
“The maids wouldn’t say such things if you didn’t insist on being so affectionate everywhere,” Diluc comments, though the smile still tugging at his lips tells you that he definitely doesn’t consider that a bad thing. “If you don’t want them to talk, perhaps you should take it down a notch or two.”
“Who said I didn’t want them to talk?” You counter, inching closer to him again. You'll refrain from kissing him right in front of Aether and Paimon, but that doesn’t mean you can’t tease him a little. “Besides, you’re one to talk. You’re the one always hanging off my shoulders whenever you get the chance.”
Diluc, however, doesn’t seem to have the same qualms as you about abstaining from affection in front of guests. His smile widening almost playfully, he gently lifts a hand to your chin. “Oh? Are you complaining?”
“Who said that?” is your response, and you lean in and kiss him.
It isn’t until the two of you pull away that you realise that Paimon has started making gagging noises as Aether frantically tries to shush her, all the while determinedly refusing to look in your direction. You almost feel bad for the kid - he clearly isn’t the best with affectionate couples.
“Sorry, sorry,” You say airily, moving away from Diluc, though you keep a hand resting on his knee.
“Is this what all married couples are like?” Paimon says, still wrinkling her nose in disgust. “If so, Paimon doesn’t want to get married, ever!”
Aether, still avoiding direct eye contact with both you and your husband, mutters an exasperated, “Bold of you to assume anyone would want to marry you.”
She immediately kicks him in the head, nearly knocking the poor guy right off the sofa. “Paimon heard that!”
“What a rowdy pair,” You comment cheerfully as Aether retaliates by flicking Paimon hard in the head, sending her spiralling halfway across the room with an indignant yelp. “You really do make strange friends, Diluc.”
He makes an odd chuffing sound in response to your words. “They aren’t any stranger than you.”
You shake your head. “You still married this strange detective, didn’t you?”
“I suppose I did,” He smiles softly again, setting his right hand over the one you have on his knee. “I wonder if I made the right decision?”
You give his knee a reproachful pinch and he gives short, sharp laugh in response - something that you don’t hear nearly enough from him. “Of course you did!”
You move to jab him in the sides, knowing exactly where all of his sensitive spots are, but he stops you quickly, seizing both your hands in his and firmly refusing to let go. You struggle for about a second before giving up and slumping against him with a dramatic huff.
“You’re too strong,” You complain, though your affectionate nuzzle into the side of his neck directly contradicts your pseudo-annoyed words. “I don’t like it.”
Diluc chuckles, knowing full well that you love the fact that he can lift entire tables without breaking a sweat. “Whatever you say, darling.”
The look that you give him as you raise your head nearly knocks all of the breath out of him. The adoring grin on your face doesn’t relent as you lift a hand and brush his cheek, your touch feather-light and sending shivers down his spine.
He finds himself leaning in again, overwhelmed by your presence. You smile knowingly and reach up to meet him - only to be interrupted with a start.
Paimon complains, half-disgusted and half-resigned, “They’re doing it again!”

Hi! First of all, I wanted to let you know that your writing makes my heart melt! All of your works are as funny as they are incredible, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with your blog!
If it’s okay to request, could you write something about the boys having to dance with the reader? And when they do, they start to catch feelings for the reader but don’t realize it? If it’s okay, of course ♡ have a good day!! And please, take all the time you need if you write it!

Masterlist
If I had a nickel for every time some one requested a detailed scenario where you can dance with Link, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I should have known there were those who yearn. (And I listened to the song you referenced anon, and it's nice but I personally like Sam Smith's version better.)
But yes, I'll see what I can do.
Part 1 will include Warrior, Sky and Four
Content under the cut!
Warrior
Warrior wasn’t sure why the princess thought that throwing a party for the hero was considered a good thing.
Or at least not without warning them about it first.
He supposed she was just excited to invite heroes of the ears into her home and wanted them to feel that at least their efforts were appreciated.
But he hated this.
And Link knew he wasn’t the only one to think so if the looks of his companions were anything to go by.
But even as he makes his rounds amongst the elite, the fake and the genuine, he tried to make sure that his friends were at least have a comfortable time. He wanted them to know that they didn’t have to keep a face like he did amongst this group so if they wanted to have fun and dance and eat then they could.
They were guests in his home as well.
But no matter where he looked and no matter how many rounds he made, he noticed that were nowhere to be found.
Confused, he ventured outside the venue.
And as he looking for you, he just sees a silhouette against the moon light on top of one of the decorative rocks out in the middle of the rose bush maze.
There was no one else around and then again the guards and people were too drunk and joyful to notice someone breaking the ground rules of conduct or if they noticed, they simply did not care.
He makes his way toward the shadow and stalls for a moment when you look his way.
The way the light hit your frame seemed delicate and ethereal with an otherworldly glow to your hair and skin. The royal purple garb they gave you as a gift for not having anything suitable to wear to the party hugged your curves and angles in all the right ways. Someone must have offered you some jewelry to go with it because he doesn’t remember you having the gold necklace and matching head piece that pulls your hair back into a crown of curls tat frame your face in a divine manner.
Link found himself unable to breath for a second.
You smile and say, “I’m just taking in some air.”
“Not enjoying the party?” He blurts, worried for a moment that you’ve been uncomfortable this entire time... by yourself.... away from everyone.... just sitting in the darkness with the sounds of music and laughter in the background.
“It felt weird to be at a heroes party when I myself- am not a hero.” You shrug and lean back casually on the rock. “Here to drag me back Capitan?”
Warrior blinks and registers the change of pace in the music and will deny to the end of his life where he found the nerve to do what he does next.
He smoothly places the his cup of lightly bubbled alcohol on one of the lower rocks and holds out his hand to you. “Dance with me. Just once.”
You blink and also tune into the music behind the two of you.
It’s a slow dance.
You gradually smile and reach out to him, pulling yourself from the rocks surface and into his arms. “Just one dance.”
Warrior tries to hide the gulp that threatens to noticeably bob his Adam’s apple and places his hands on your waist and holds your hand respectfully. “Have you danced before?”
“Technically.” You answer and place your own hands in his and on his shoulder, pulling yourself closer to him. “I while I know how to dance with the elite, it’s just never been my scene.”
“I know how you feel.” Warrior takes the leads and guides you through the steps of the song. He’s been through countless hours of training for battle- and not those that end in bloodshed- but those that take place in the ball room with the nobles and high end society that would have one looked at him scorn and distaste.
He doesn’t blame you for wanting to get away.
But he does want you to enjoy yourself... if only a little bit.
The steps come naturally to him and he takes a moment to spin you around before you trip over your own feet.
A small giggle escapes your lips as you twirl and send the fabric billowing around you.
Warrior is struck stupid by the sight and almost steps off beat with the music. He’s quick to correct himself but he seemed to have your laughter on his mind on repeat.
“I’d stay out here with you if I could.” He admits as he repositions himself against you, trying to lead you away from the rose thorns and the maze itself so neither of you get caught up in it. “But unfortunately my disappearance won’t go unnoticed for long.”
“Oh...” You blink and look up into his eyes. “I suppose you really only have time for one dance, huh?”
He’s unprepared by how disappointed you sound and it would appear so are you with how quick you try to cover it up.
“It’s fine! You’re an important figure here, I guess it’s only natural that every one would want your attention. I hope you enjoy the party though. Unlike me, you deserve the recognition.” You smile genuinely but your eyes look like they’re trying to get some unknown message across.
“If I can somehow get away again-” Warrior rushes to keep your smile there and to include you in the collective joy the party was supposed to bring. “-Will you save another dance for me?”
You hum and tap you finger to you chin in thought. “It hasn’t been that bad being out here by myself...”
Warrior really hopes that you let him dance with you again even when you pull apart to the end of the music.
But you grin and reach up to boop his nose with the same finger. “Alright soldier boy, since you asked so nicely I’ll save the last dance just for you.”
Warrior laughs a little breathlessly and has to force himself to step away from you. He hopes to any and all who can hear them that’s he’s not actually blushing right now. “Ok. I’ll be back then.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
Sky
Sky was sure that every one was having a great time.
The music was loud and energetic and his friends were all off doing their own thing while the festival was in full motion.
It was a celebration for the people’s loftwings since it was usually the time of the year that they left their rider’s side- presumably to go lay their eggs for the next generation of riders.
But it was all fun and games for everyone involved.
Wind and Four seemed to be in a highly competitive match of toss the sack with Twilight being the point keeper on the other end. Wild and Hyrule were busy enjoying the food and no doubt collecting the recipes (Sky was hoping that Wild would make the food so he was no way inclined to stop him). Time and Warrior were off in a corner, talking to each other with a cup in each of their hands. Legend stood next to them without a cup but he seemed to be more interested in the décor and loftwings themselves.
But you...
Sky stopped walking along the ribbon perimeter and looked over to you.
You were by yourself... You didn’t particularly happy..
And that just won’t stand.
With subtle determination, he marches over to you and taps your shoulder.
You seem to blink back into the present and raise an eyebrow to him in return.
He can see the question on your lips just as you’re about to say it so he juts his head into he direction of the dance area with a simple hand out in your direction.
He hopes his intentions are clear.
You eye his hand and snap your mouth shut with a soft click. Sky gulps  suddenly, a strange bout of nervousness attempting to choke his system as you take your time to think about his offer.
Sky would never force you to do something that you don’t want to do but really (and he has no idea where this urge comes from) wants to dance with you.
Just once.
Just once to see you smile and enjoy yourself.
To see you happy.
You place your hand in his, soft and small and so much different than his own. “Lead the way, Boy Wonder.”
You smile and he returns your gesture, gently pulling you toward the open area as the next song starts. It’s light and airy and it’s enough to keep you moving even if you both stall for a minute to just sway side to side in each others arms.
Sky didn’t know that he’d feel so whole and accomplished by just holding you.
Emboldened by the tune of the events, Sky takes a step back and twirls you around as the music flows up and down again just in time to bring you back into his arms.
You laugh. “Perfect timing.”
“I do try.” Sky winks.
You giggle to yourself with a small shake of your head but you keep swaying with Sky across the dance floor.
The music comes to an end and Sky does his best gentleman’s bow as he lets go of you completely- even if he finds that he doesn’t want to. “An absolute honor to dance with you.”
The music starts up again in a similar tune but all he would have to settle for is just one dance. It’s all he’s comfortable with asking from you.
“Sky wait.” You blurt.
He turns around to see that... well you seemed to have startled yourself as well.
“I um..” You bite your lip and vaguely gesture to the musicians in the distance. “They’re not done.”
Sky smirks a little. “But the song is.”
“I uh... Just one more dance?” You hold your hand out to him this time and he stares in shock.
Not for long though.
He’s quick to place his hand in your and pull himself back to you. “I’d love to.”
Four
Four was excited to show everyone around the Festival of Fools. It was his favorite time of the year where everyone got to be silly and destress and play and eat and dance.
Four had always run around trying to do what he could never get away with on a typical day but right now he had to make sure his traveling companion didn’t actually burn the town down.
He loved them but he’d lying if he said that he wasn’t just the tiniest concerned over their facial expressions when he said that anything goes really- no laws but those of the people apply today.
Which made him the temporary babysitter for some of the more rowdy ones.
But he had lost sight of you a while ago.
Not that he was concerned or anything but... He did want to spend time with you.
The festival doesn’t happen everyday and he knew that there would only be so many days left that he’d be able to spend with the group and even less so that they’d be given a chance to relax and unwind.
That thought urged him forward to find you.
If only to make sure that you were having a good time.
He had found you by the food court where you munched on a meat stick and watched as the people came and go.
You looked bored.
Now Four knew that parties weren’t entirely your scene and you weren’t the kind of person to go and throw yourself into the middle of it all.
That being said it still rubbed him the wrong way when you looked like you would rather be anywhere but there.
He oughta do something about it.
Just across the street a band had begun playing music for the people to dance to, now that they’ve usually had their fill for lunch.
Four saw you look over and smile, basking in the edges of their amplified joy and amusement.
He grinned and ran over to you, tugging your hand into his own and pulling you close to him. “Dance with me!”
“Wha- Four? Where’d you come from?” You dropped the finished stick in shock and followed him as he dragged you to the open space just beyond the food cart.
“I live here.” He laughed and spun you around. “Just one dance!”
“I- but- Four!” You dug your heels into the dirt and stopped the both of you from reach the destination. “I can’t dance! I- I’ve never danced.”
Four turns to look at you and smiles encouragingly. “Just let loose, it’s easy. There’s no right way to move, you just do. Just feel the music and my lead.”
You bite your lip and Four takes the moment of hesitation to pull you forward again. you let him and soon find yourself on a dirt arena with lively music and people all around you.
“Don’t let go of my hand ok?” Four grins.
You find yourself grinning as well and soon you’re both spinning and jumping and leaping and twirling around each other to the beat of music.
It’s fast and fun and within moments on simply holding onto Four you find yourself laughing uncontrollably as he throws you around like a rag doll in which ever way he likes.
He’s stronger than you imagined him to be but then again... He’s a blacksmith.
It shouldn’t be all that surprising.
Somehow in the midst of it, he throws you in the air and over his head, catching you in a spin and letting you catch your breath and the music dies down and another begins.
“You ok?” Four asks, a little breathless himself. He doesn’t think he’s heard you laugh so hard or for so long.
It’s nice.
“That was fun!” You managed to say in between your giggles.
Four’s grin widened and even if he knows it’s not your style.... and he only asked for one, he holds his hand out again just in time for the next crescendo to begin.
You look up and look at him and his hand...
You don’t hesitate to put your hand in his and he pulls you close to him again.
You spin and laugh and jump and twirl well into the night, completely forgetting about the others until you have to turn in for the night.
Four’s feet hurt by the end of it and he’s exhausted but to see and hear you smile and laugh and enjoy yourself in what is arguably his favorite time of year was completely worth it.
He hopes that he can spend more time with you... He hopes for just one more dance before it all ends.

The One Where It's Just General Marriage Head Canons.
Edited: 7-19-2021
Tumblr media
🐱 Oh boy, there's a lot to unpack here.
🐱 Izuku is the best boyfriend, and he'll easily transition into the perfect husband.
🐱 He was so nervous to propose to you.
🐱 Literally stuttered out the entire proposal, then had to repeat it more clearly for you to understand.
🐱 ...And that's with him practicing beforehand.
🐱 "I want you to be my wife, I wanna come home to you every day. I wanna marry you [Y/N]. Please say yes."
🐱 Of course, you said yes immediately.
🐱 He had such a romantic setting too. He took you to where you had your first date, even ordered the same food.
🐱 He would have worn the same clothes, but now that he's a ripped pro-hero he can't.
🐱 The wedding was perfect.
🐱 He was very nervous, worried you'd get cold feet, scared someone would object.
🐱 Shouto had to be his best man and reassured him that if anyone objected, he would freeze them.
🐱 Deku's the type of husband that leaves earlier so he can get home earlier.
🐱 He'll get up at the early hours of five in the morning, just so he can be back home by five in the afternoon.
🐱 Sometimes he even gets up at four in the morning so he can be back by four in the afternoon.
🐱 Don't ask how he functions.
🐱 He loves to come home to you cooking him dinner every night.
🐱 Just stepping through the door to the aroma of you stirring something on the stove instantly perks him up.
🐱 All the horrors he saw that day, every emotion he carried in him, instantly vanished by the sight of you.
🐱 He could watch you cook dinner for hours.
🐱 He'll immediately come over and give you a kiss on the cheek before heading off to change out of his uniform.
🐱 On the days he comes home at four he'll help you make dinner.
🐱 Just cooking around in the kitchen together fills him with such domestic joy.
🐱 On the days Izuku works into the late hours of the night you'll stay up for him.
🐱 No matter how many times he tells you not to.
🐱 It makes coming home that much better when he sees you half slid off the couch, asleep.
🐱 He'll sweep you up off the couch and take you to bed, where you wake up and tell him how late you stayed up waiting for him.
🐱 Always makes his heart swell just cuddling you on the bed after a long day.
🐱 While you'll try being the perfect little housewife for Izuku, you just can't be.
🐱 Ain't nobody waking up at four and five in the morning to make him breakfast. He can stop at a gas station, or grab a protein bar before leaves.
🐱 To show him you care and that you love him, you'll get out of bed and pour him a cup of coffee before trudging back to the warm blankets.
🐱 It's super easy if you set the coffee machine before bed.
🐱 Portable cup, just the right amount of sugar and cream. He savors it knowing you got out of bed to make it just for him.
🐱 I personally see Izuku with a cute little housewife, it's safer that way, but he'd be with a working woman too.
🐱 In other words, Deku doesn't like you working, however, he won't stop you.
🐱 He gets insanely worried.
🐱 He's the number one hero, there's a numerous amount of people who want to hurt him.
🐱 There's an even bigger amount of people who would hurt you to get to him. Who would kill you, just for revenge.
🐱 Izuku has to constantly reassure himself that he'll always protect you.
🐱 If you do choose to be a worker, Deku will constantly visit you at work.
🐱 He doesn't broadcast where work precisely, the media just reports that Deku patrols the area a lot.
🐱 Nobody knows it's because he brought you lunch, or because he was 'in the area'.
🐱 If villains knew he regularly patrols there, they'll be likely to stay away.
🐱 Deku also sends heroes to the area when he has to go on missions.
🐱 He owns his own agency, what's the point of that if he can't use it to his advantage a little bit.
🐱 Izuku will also try to make it a point to pick you up from work.
🐱 Even if he has to go back to work after dropping you off at home, he likes to know you got back safely.
🐱 He'll also demand you text him you got home safely if he can't pick you up, even if he has a sidekick patrolling the area and following you home without your knowledge.
🐱 He knows you'd be very cross with him if you found out, but he wants to know your safe.
🐱 Not that you can blame him, you worry about his safety too.
🐱 You have the radio at work on a station that reports on heroes all day long.
🐱 When your home the TV is constantly on the news channel, following your husband as he takes down villains.
🐱 Despite all the worry, nothing calms you both down like unwinding in each other's arms at the end of the day.
🐱 You and Izuku will grocery shop together.
🐱 It's not a good pair because you both will throw random sugary items in the cart, lucky he's the number one hero and makes bank for your big grocery bill.
🐱 You and Deku rarely fight.
🐱 You always choose to talk things out and find a solution.
🐱 It's better to get it out now and compromise rather than letting it sit and fester.
🐱 When you do fight it's not that bad.
🐱 It's most likely going to be something stupid like you missed leaving him a cup of coffee one day, or he forgot to give you a kiss goodbye in the morning, or one of you didn't say I love you before going to sleep.
🐱 Your arguments are always resolved by the end of the day with lots of kisses and cuddles.
🐱 You guys have a golden rule: Don't go to bed angry.
🐱 You make frequent visits to Izuku's agency.
🐱 If you've seen on the news that he had a particularly bad fight, you can't help but worry about him.
🐱 You'll throw on a pair of shoes and run a container of cookies to his office under the premise of making him a treat when you just wanted to check on him.
🐱 Izuku will instantly know your just worried about him.
🐱 He'll make it up to you by giving you lots of kisses on his desk.
🐱 He always locks the door first, after all, your privacy and modesty are everything to him.
🐱 Every Thursday you have a date night.
🐱 Izuku keeps the romance very much alive for you both.
🐱 He's never late either.
🐱 Izuku liked cute names for you before you got married, now it's worse.
🐱 He'll call you his love, his lover, his darling, and his favorite, his pretty wife.
🐱 While he was younger, Izuku was scared to show skinship and PDA in the dating stages, now that your married he finds it easier and enjoyable.
🐱 He likes to hold your hand in the grocery store, he likes getting to kiss you on the cheek where ever he goes.
🐱 The stares don't bother him or make him nervous anymore.
🐱 You're his wife, any affection he displays with you is just right.
🐱 You and Izuku will definitely have kids.
🐱 Izuku is such a family man, he'd love to have lots of little babies with you.
🐱 He's always so around despite having such a time-consuming career too.
🐱 You need him to take them to the doctors for a check-up? It's done.
🐱 You need him to pick them up from school? He's there five minutes early.
🐱 His kids think he's the greatest dad too.
🐱 And they learned how to be respectful and nice to women by watching him treat you good.
🐱 Overall, Izuku is the best husband a woman can ask for and Inko deserves a medal for the work she put into him.

Anon Ask Lineup!!
I got SO many gorgeous lurker confirmation asks, and wow I love you guys so much. You're way too sweet to me. Ahhhhhhh.
That being said, a lot of you had questions and I said I wouldn't rb those asks, but there were several overlapping ones anyway, so I'm just going to make one biiiiiiiggggggg post answering questions here!
.
How long did I lurk? Six years or so? Longer? I knew I loved whump since I was a little tiny kiddo, but didn't know there was a word for it (I feel like this is a common experience lol), and started following hero x villain things (also a common experience) that eventually lead me to the whump community. I didn't make this blog (well, the same url - it used to be a sideblog and it moved but I'm counting it) about two years ago? But I only started making my own content one year ago.
Have I ever regretted making my blog instead of lurking? Since I started this one? No. But there was a time before where I made a side blog (same url) and started making some whumpy gif sets? And I loved it and was having a nice time with no one knowing or following me, but it was immediately picked up by the kink community instead of this one. While I don't have any problem with that, I felt like I wasn't in the right place and that no one was really listening and I was getting sucked in the wrong direction, so I panicked and deleted the blog. Cut lurking again for two years before making this one.
Was I ever ashamed of whump? Um. Yes. Still kind of am (I'm working on it), but I grew up in a very religious household, and I'm an extremely kind and gentle person irl, so it felt like this horrific denial both of my faith and of myself. I read a post a year and a half ago or so that clarified the difference between fiction and reality for whump, and something about it just made the pieces fit together again for me. It wasn't long after that that I got started making my own content.
How I moved from being a reblogger to a creator? There was one prompt list (here) that I just fell in love with and had a few ideas to continue? So I did. And it got SO many more notes than I expected and I just........fell in love with it? I found I have a knack for prompt lists - much more than gif sets. So I started making prompt lists. They got popular pretty quick. Then I was challenged to do Whumptober, and I did. After that, I felt comfortable starting my own series and doing drabbles and I haven't looked back.
How many irl people know about whump/my blog? Four who I didn't meet through this. I've told three friends and my sister - all of whom took it FAR more gracefully than I expected. While whump isn't their thing, they're incredibly supportive and generally confused why I'm so embarrassed about it. Oops-
Is my whump fixation purely whump, kink, or both? Uhmmmmmmmm....I like whump. I like whump in any context. That bleeds into kink as well. I don't post NSFW things here because a lot of my readers are minors and I genuinely don't trust the tagging system to keep their sweet lovely eyes off the abominations I create asdlkf. But if I'm in an 18+ area where people are chatting, I'm more than willing to discuss it or put out ideas/content. I'm getting more comfortable with it by the day (everyone has hurtles to get over in self-acceptance - that's one of mine).
Do I use whump as an outlet for something else? I know a lot of people have turned to whump to process trauma, but that's not my story. I have loved it since forever, and my ptsd isn't something I ever want to encounter in whump. I have those tags blocked so fucking hard, I don't want to be triggered in my safe space (that's just me - everyone processes differently). But. I do find that it greatly eases my anxiety and nightmares. If I go a week or two without writing or consuming something terrifying, my anxiety doesn't really have an outlet? And it bleeds into dreams. I often have very whumpy dreams, but I don't consider them nightmares, they're just lovely. But the nightmares? Nope. Nuh-uh. Don't want. It's a very small part of why I write, but it's a lovely bonus.
.
.
.
Whelp I think that's all of them?? Shoot me another ask if I missed one - it wasn't intentions.
Love you all so so much - I'm glad you reached out!
General disclaimer: all these are my own expeiance and do not speak to or dictate in any way how others interact with this community or their pasts - everyone's journey is their own, this one is just mine.

Told you guys I’d ramble in due time.
I absolutely adore Bravely Default 2. It came at a really bad time cos I can’t waste 70 hours on a jrpg, but well, it’s too late to be concerned about that now. And as is tradition with me obsessing over a new game / show / whatever, you’ll basically find a fullblown review disguised as ramblings right under the cut. Be aware that I’m gonna talk about EVERYTHING, so spoilers are a given. Some maybe even for the previous Bravely Default games.
Also, if you wanna talk about this game in any capacity, hit me up, I’m DESPERATE to talk more about it.
Just for reference on how long this is gonna be, I made a voice recording while driving to remember all the points I wanna make, and that recording is almost 2 hours long. I did cut it down but still, this is gonna be a lot.
I’ll start off with the things that actually bugged me about the game, since there are only 3 things that really bothered me. First of, I really don’t like that you can name Seth. He has too much personality to be a self insert and player integration is not that big of a part in the game that this decision can be justified. It wouldn’t bother me that much if it didn’t leave a bad mark on the ending. First of all, we were robbed of Gloria desperately shouting for Seth, which makes the impact work less, and it’s just so prevalent that the name can’t be said because you have all the normal sound design going. If they’d just let the credits still play I wouldn’t have batted an eye, but because every other sound comes in it’s so obvious they’re just silently shouting in this scene, which makes it look silly. Like I said, this decision is more a detriment than an addition, and it’s a shame it casts a shadow on an otherwise heartfelt ending.
Speaking about lost potential, the other thing that really bothers me is the lost potential in certain plot points and character conclusions. I mainly mean Adam and Edna here. Both of them have been built up to be these formidable foes but they just, die. If it was just Adam I’d be fine with it, since you expect Edna to backstab him and be the actual big bad of the story, but I cannot fathom why they dropped Edna this HARD. If not Edna herself, I don’t understand why we don’t get more of a reaction from the Fairies and especially Adelle. I mean, Edna was her sole reason she left for her journey in the first place, then Edna dies and that’s it? No part where she grieves for a second? No concern from the others about Adelle? Mind you, I haven’t finished all the Sidequests, so maybe there actually is one in which this is addressed, but I think even just a Party Chat after Bad End 1 would have been sufficient to show how Adelle suddenly feels about the loss of Edna. It would have made Bad End 2 / The Secret Ending even more impactful, because, yeah, of course, you kinda know Adelle isn’t going to turn her back on fairy kind, but one of the reasons she doesn’t leave is because if Enda didn’t get a happy ending, then she shouldn’t either. It would have been amazing foreshadowing if she showed this sentiment before this scene happened. Other than that, it’s a shame that we know so little about Edna, or rather, how she became “bad”. I get she’s supposed to be corrupted by the Night’s Nexus, but how did it even come to this? It can’t have been a gradual thing, after all, Adelle says Edna was always good natured and then just disappeared one day. Really would have loved seeing more of that plot point.
Ok, last gripe I have, some choices in the soundtrack and sound design. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the OST, and I will get to that, but damn, whatever Revo used for the lead instrument in Wiswald hurts my ears. It’s a really good track, but I always have to turn down my volume because these high pitched sounds physically hurt. And for sound design. Dude, the Night’s Nexus is the least threatening, nightmare fueled abomination that ever existed. I get that its growl is kinda supposed to be layered with Edna’s or sth, but it, it just sounds silly. If they went the route of just swinging between different voices or began distorting it from phase to phase, it would have been fine. But the choice they made really made an otherwise creepy design just absolutely silly.
Ok, enough jammering, on to the good stuff. Like I said, there’s going to be a lot, so I’ll try to be brief in each aspect.
Gameplay
I honestly like the new battle mechanics more than the old ones. This individual, turn based system feels way more dynamic and it’s easier to strategies in battles. Because nothing made me more angry than setting up for a heal and the enemy suddenly being faster than me and killing my healer. Now it’s easier to plan ahead a bit.
I also found myself experimenting more with the jobs. Not sure what it really is, but none of the party members leaning more towards certain types of jobs and the job leveling being way faster probably helped.
And I know some people get up in arms because the boss sometimes can be a real pain in the ass (looking at you pope dude), I still found it very interesting getting around counters or even using these counters as a benefit. As an example, I made Adelle my main physical fighter and gave her lots of counter abilities to help her profit from being countered by enemies themselves. Now, she can attack enemies, get countered, automatically evade that counter and earn a BP at the same time. Made a lot of boss fights way easier and fun to exploit.
Music
Ok, I will try my best to be really, really brief, because in my recording this part takes up almost 40 minutes. Anyways, Revo might have just become one of my absolute favorite composers ever. I don’t know what kind of magic he used, but I initially wasn’t that impressed with the OST, but every time I listened to it, I just fell in love harder and harder. Before getting into specifics, I wanna highlight the two things that made me love this OST overall. First of all, this soundtrack almost seems like a refinement of BD’s. While losing some of that fairytale vibe, it sounds even more fantasy now. And in contrast to the original, this almost sounds more balanced? Like, BD’s OST felt high energy throughout, BD2’s on the other hand manages to find a good balance between high and low energy pieces. Like, the character themes or battle themes are absolute hype, but the overworld themes are a lot calmer and easier to listen to while exploring. Second big point that makes this soundtrack amazing is that Revo is an absolute god at using emotional progression/storytelling and leitmotifs in his songs. And heck, do I love myself my leitmotifs. You’ve got some obvious ones, like the final battle theme in which all the character themes and other leitmotifs are integrated. Then you got some maybe more subtle once, just like how the overworld themes are just the main theme, just a lot calmer and using the lead instruments of the towns of the areas.
But my absolute favourites gotta be the character themes and the main theme. I love how fitting the themes for the characters are and in general, each of them is such a bop. At first I prefered Elvis’, because I sure am a sucker for jazzy vibes, but over time Adelle’s became my fav. It’s just something about the trumpets, and how the theme almost sounds a bit melancholic and bittersweet, that drew me in. And considering her story, mostly her bad end, that the bittersweet tone really fits.
Then there’s the main theme. Just like BD’s it shouts “triumphant anthem” and it definitely gives you a very familiar vibe, but I’d argue it has even better emotional progression. Heck, the first time I heard the music start up in the reveal trailer, I didn’t have to look at the screen to know this is gonna be a BD game. Also, the credit song version had me weeping at the true end. I’m someone who’s very easily affected by music (if me shouting about soundtracks on this blog wasn’t proof enough) and just hearing that ending song, getting the after credits scene, just for the second credits to start as a freaking duet. Dude, at that point I just started sobbing, I’m not gonna lie. Just this little part showed how much Revo knows how to put emotion in a song and also write it in such a way that he can elicit strong, emotional reactions from you too.
Story
People have been complaining how the story is too boring and kinda disappointing in comparison to the last one, but I just think the games tried to accomplish different things here. Since the BD series is a celebration of old, classic jrpgs, “cliche” storytelling is a given. Though, BD did throw a lot of meta stuff in there too. BD2 in contrast just feels like a direct execution of that initial idea. It feels familiar, it feels comfy and it feels safe. Except for the little things with the endings and then overwriting the Nexus’ “save file”, BD2 doesn’t really get that meta, which is totally fine. It doesn’t try to reinvent or innovate anything, it just wants to be a fantasy story, that might be cliche, but still fun and enjoyable in its own right.
I’d also argue that the pacing is a lot better than the old game, because with BD I sometimes found myself skipping through scenes to get on with the story. Not that this game didn’t have me rushing through stuff as well, but I found it kept my intrigue way better than the original.
Characters
Next to the music, this is the part that I absolutely love the most. While, yes, they did lose a lot of potential with some characters, mostly with the villains, the main cast is just so much fun. I love these 4 dorks so, so much.
I honestly can’t stand how much people compare them to the original cast. Yes, ofc, I’ve been doing my fair share of comparisons too, but calling these four a more boring version of BD’s party physically hurts me. Because except for some initial impressions, the Heroes of Light are completely different from our beloved Warriors of Light.
While yes, Seth and Gloria give off strong Tiz and Agnes vibes at first, they both grow into such different characters that they’re not really comparable. I think this shows with Adelle and Elvis even more. I do understand how people could compare Adelle and Edea, since they’re both the feisty girl type, but I can’t understand how people can see Ringabel and Elvis as the same character type. While those two are the “suave” party members, they act so differently from another. And that’s honestly apparent the first time you meet them.
Anyways, I love these 4 so much.
We technically don’t know a lot about Seth at all, but they manage to pull so much out of just the fact that he’s a sailor, that it makes him really endearing, really fast.
I was kinda disinterested with Gloria at first, because again, the initial impression was Agnés2.0, but she grew on me a lot. Gloria is way more hard headed and honestly sassy in comparison to Agnés and I absolutely adore it.
Elvis. Elvis, my man. I love this fantasy scottosh wizard so, so much. He’s such a ridiculous character but so endearing at the same time. You got all this dorkiness, with him setting himself on fire as a student, him doing god knows what for a good drink or just laughing danger and prejudice in the face. But then you got his super empathetic and caring side. Mind you, most of his wise moments come from quoting Lady Emma, but still, as much as he’s hopeless with certain social situations, he’s actually still really good at reading the room and playing things smart. He’s a smart and powerful idiot, which makes him a danger to everyone and himself, and I love him for it. (I also can’t believe they called him Lesley I MEAN COME ON)
And then there’s Adelle. I liked her from the start, but I didn’t think she would stick out to me. I think now she’s my favourite character. Not even talking about all the stuff that happens in chapter 3 and onward, because these story threads are awesome in their own right, but there’s just something about her personality that’s interesting and appealing to me. Like I said, I’m not surprised people compare her to Edea, I did too at first, but while Edea walks very close to the line of a Tsundere, I was really surprised that Adelle is, well, not a Tsundere at all. Yeah, of course she’s putting Elvis down a lot, but that stems more from her preventing his ego from going to his head than her being all embarrassed. No, Adelle is actually really well adjusted when it comes to communication. While it’s hilarious that she and Elvis met with her chucking her shoes at him, the two just got along well right from the start. Adelle in general has this really open and helpful personality, but also doesn’t shy away from putting her foot down, even if that sometimes comes out as an embarrassed sputter. She’s also the mother hen of the group. She looks out for the other three and gets concerned about them real fast.
I dunno, Adelle just really grew on me over the course of this game, and then her kinda being paired with Elvis too, as partners and as partners, makes me like her even more. Because as much as I like their personalities individually, I like their character dynamic even more. I honestly love the relationships between all four of them a lot. You really feel them grow closer as friends and all the little character sidequests just always made me really happy.
Conclusion
You might not believe me, but I really held back there. This could probably have been 3 times its length. As much as I love this game, it’s of course not perfect. It struggles and flails in some parts a lot and it certainly has some aspects that might turn people off. But for me, it was just a very familiar and comfy game that didn’t necessarily deliver anything new, but that told its story in such a way that it still got me excited to keep going. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and the conclusion of the story actually got me to cry. While not groundbreaking, this game is highly enjoyable and leaves you absolutely satisfied at the end.
Also, I would like to iterate that I am desperate to get more content about this game, so if you wanna chat about it, hit me up.
Anyways, anyone else felt like having a fever dream when everybody in chapter 2 started talking fantasy scottish? Cos I sure did.

since I never made a post for these, here are all of MY ideal endings for sam (and how I would do them) that I spite-wrote after a coworker told me about how perfect his finale was <3
HUNTER NETWORK ENDING: Sam establishes an official network for the American hunters, leading a new generation of hunters as the antithesis of John Winchester. One of the final shots is a montage of all the hunters working and saving people all across the country, proving the Winchesters are no longer alone in the world.
SAMWITCH ENDING: Sam becomes a full-fledged witch thanks to all the magic supplies he inherited from Rowena and blends hunting/witch shenanigans. He can still be powerful but now he gets to choose where that power comes from. Okay this is basically Goldenrod Revisions, leave me alone.
SEPARATE WAYS ENDING: Sam and Dean both alive but living / hunting apart, going their separate ways like a parent and child who is finally leaving the nest. Sam gets the independence he always wanted while also getting to keep his brother in his life, because this is the ultimate proof that Dean trusts him. For the first time, they can move on without the reason being the other is dead. They no longer doubt they will always be there for each other even if they’re not living under the same roof anymore. The episode ends with Sam breaking into Dean’s [insert post-finale residence of choice here] in a callback to the pilot, saying he was in the area for a hunt. The last lines are Sam asking if he wanted to reunite for the hunt for old’s time sake and Dean saying “looks we got work to do.”
PODCASTER ENDING: Sam starts a podcast about the supernatural discussing urban American legends, myths, and mysteries that also helps viewers know what to look for and maybe even teaches them to defend themselves. Some take it as fiction, some use what he tells them to save their lives. It hits the top of the paranormal/mystery charts. The Ghostfacers, whose attempt to get into podcasting failed, ARE livid.
THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END: Sam and Dean both die in a blaze of glory, sacrificing themselves to defeat Chuck and bring back the rest of the world. They both get a moment to say an emotional goodbye to Jack and to each other. The two get a massive hunter’s funeral where all the past hunters come to mourn them and talk about their impact. Jody’s speech probably makes us cry. They get to Heaven at the same time, where they are greeted by all their past friends and family at the Roadhouse. On Earth, they live on forever as urban legends and heroes.
SAM & ROWENA ENDING: Sam says #FuckHeaven and spends his afterlife in hell as the consort to Queen Rowena, drinking margaritas all day, living his best life and stopping any demon uprisings in their tracks. Anytime they give him a hard time, he reminds them that he was Azazel’s boyking and they’re just Random Demon #489. What are THEY doing with their life.
SAM & EILEEN ENDING #1 - MARRIED HUNTER LIFE EDITION: Sam and Dean both survive and continue to hunt / live together, except now Eileen and Castiel are around and live in the bunker with them too after Cas was saved in [insert Empty rescue scenario of your choice.] Sam has some deja vu to the vision he had of all four of them living together in 15x09. He realizes that this is actually real and not a vision; that they are actually together, at peace and beat Chuck. The episode ends with them going to have the movie night that they never got to have in the vision. As Eileen takes his hand to go to the movie room, you see two engagement rings on their hands. Sam realizes that his journey may have started with losing Jessica but he found love again, and that while once upon a time all he and Eileen wanted was revenge, they’ve finally both found peace.
SAFE HOUSE ENDING: Sam starts a trauma center/safe house situation for hunters and ex-monsters to recover and heal, dedicating his life to proving that no one is beyond saving and everyone can redeem themselves and defy fate like he had. Mia Vallens, the shapeshifting grief counselor, is on payroll.
SAM IS THE AUTHOR NOW ENDING: Sam narrates the finale the same way Chuck did for the original series finale "Swan Song", further proving that they are now in control in their story. We get Sam's POV as he tells us what happened to all the other hunters and side characters, as well as him and his brother, with flashbacks from all fifteen seasons and young Sam & Dean growing up together. The episode ends with the reveal that Sam actually finishing the journal entries for the Winchester family's edition of the Men of Letters Bestiary, putting the finishing touches on some monster entries and his own personal anecodotes. He treats the Bestiary like a journal, in a callback to After-School Special where Sam almost became a writer and wrote about his and his family's hunting stories.
BABY JACK ENDING: Sam raises Baby!Jack after he is de-aged and “falls” to Earth in the same fashion the angel Anna once did. Baby!Jack wears overalls that don’t say his name in giant letters because Sam is a good parent who would never do that to his child. The two have a happy life as an adopted father/son duo who defied everything Lucifer and Heaven wanted them to be.
SAM & EILEEN ENDING #2 - EUROTRIP EDITION: Sam going on a year-long vacation around the world now that he has a cool Irish girlfriend who is not afraid of planes, leading to a fun exploration of the supernatural in foreign countries. Who is Dean.
DOG SHELTER OWNER: Sam owns a dog shelter and gets to walk at least ten dogs a day. Jack helps out and Miracle is the HBIC. Life is good.
CHUCK WINS ENDING: Sam lives and Dean dies, Sam throws a funeral for him that no one attends but him and a dog, and moves to the suburbs to live a generic white picket fence life with an unidentifiable wife. As a montage of Sam’s life plays, the camera pans away what looks like a computer and Chuck’s old office. A string of quotes can be heard in the background (“we’re just hamsters running around in a cage” “what would you rather have: peace or freedom?” “I can do anything...I’m a writer” “We will never give you the ending that you want / We’ll see”). The final shot is Jack, dressed in Chuck’s clothes and glasses and using his mannerisms, typing away at a typewriter. He writes “The End” but punctuates it with a question mark instead of a period. His computer screen and our TV screen both go black.

Chara, the fourth Blook cousin:
A crack theory that accidentally become way more serious than it should have because it somehow, despite my best efforts, ended up making sense
Brought to you by my idiot conspiracy brain (affectionate) and by encouragement from my Tumblr followers
Under the cut for the sake of your dashes and sanity
Ok here we go my very elaborate accidental theory, because in order to answer the complex questions simply you must first make simple things more complex or something
First, you need to know that Chara became a Blook cousin by adoption.
All of the Blooks are adopted.
Ghosts are not born into families, they make their own.
Got it? Great, because we’re about to start running
so first, im gonna make surprisingly uncommon claim in this fandom, and I am going to say that undertale ghosts are all dead
I’m taking the tiny details we know about ghosts and sprinting with them to new places
Ghosts also do not have souls I decided
Undertale souls do not work the same as souls in traditional mythology
So every ghost is soulless Unless and Until they become corporeal
Evidence: Monster souls cant exist without bodies, and ghosts are monsters, therefore ghosts cannot have souls without bodies
Further evidence: Asriel doesnt steal blooky’s soul, blooky is unkillable, we have no concrete evidence that blooky has a soul
What about mettaton? He only has a soul after he has completely committed to being corporeal and to a specific body.
Also maddy and mettaton are both only killable while corporeal
Im also connecting the dots we have about souls in a new creative way so let me live for a second
Additionally, i am going to claim that there are a lot more ghosts than just the blooks, some evidence given below
Theres like actual scientific knowlege of ghosts in the undertale verse which seems unlikely if theres literally only three or four
The underground is so much bigger than you think, theres that giant forest in snowdin, a large town in the ruins, the huge city of new home, who knows how much space in the large open areas of waterfall etc. Its really really big okay
Also based off evidence of blooky, we can conclude that ghosts can turn invisible whenever they want to and/or haunt objects to hide
So I personally think that ghosts are, generally speaking, extremely reclusive
And the blooks are just a special exception, a beautiful family, amazing for them
So anyway im going with typical ghost lore for now, for the sake of ease, so im gonna say ghosts generally come from monsters who are particularly restless or unsatisfied when they die
HOWEVER i dont think they remember being monsters or anything before being a ghost. They just kinda fizzle into existance with a fully formed personality and immortality while being unkillable and feeling vaguely uneasy
ALSO i personally think that chara was a ghost for a long time before they became a blook by adoption
Based on game lore, i think ghosts can possess any inanimate object and just kinda wear it? But it takes a lot of strong emotion to become corporeal
And chara is the super weird exception because they were a human not a monster.
They dont have a soul (i headcanon that their soul got destroyed when asriel died)
And they KNOW this, which is a huge part of why they kinda just... give up
Because they lost their ability to fulfill prophecy
Also, without a soul, they lost their ability to reset, so for the first time since falling underground, theyre subject to the relentless march of time
But theyre still weirdly strong and powerful and more emotional
ALSO they DO still remember being a human but they catch on pretty quickly that other ghosts dont have memories and because chara is stupid they just lie to fit in
Theyre too tired to explain themself, they just want to be alone and feel awful
Now back to ghost lore
Emotions are a lot harder for ghosts??? I decided
And they dont know why,, they tend to blame it on the soul thing
But realistically its actually more of the immortality thing making actions not have consequences and/or or not having a body so they cant have a sense of touch or have physical effects of emotion
They all know that ghosts just tend to be way more floaty and bored and numb
And thats part of why the blooks are so special
Maddy’s rage and Mettaton’s yearning and Napstablook’s misery are like... not great all of the time...
but theyre also way way more emotion than most ghosts have,,, they are just a family supporting each other, being as functional as they can,, just an emo(tional) ghost family
most ghosts barely do anything except like stare at walls but the blooks have their snail farm and that helps them have purpose and it is good
And they hold each other accountable and it is nice
So anyway chara just chills and is in a depression coma for a few decades before the blooks find them and are like “our child/baby cousin”
and they raise them for a cool minute
They are all very protective of the new baby emo blook
And chara doesnt get therapy but at the very least they once again have a family, and they decide they want to try to become corporeal eventually just like mtt and maddy
So anyway chara starts hanging out in the ruins a lot more and they finally tell the blooks theyre leaving to go become corporeal in the ruins
This is actually because they are trying to hang out with toriel
because they miss their mom ;;
but chara’s not gonna admit that to anyone, especially not to themself
And because theyre still repressing their emotions constantly and pretending to be fine, they cant become corporeal
And they hang out in the ruins for a long time because they feel guilty lying to everyone about everything
They still feel like its their fault that all the monsters are stuck underground, because they were SUPPOSED to save everyone and they COULDNT and it HURTS
But again, they are doing too much repression to use this guilt to become corporeal,
so instead they just kinda hide and watch toriel from a distance and cry
Blooky visits them the most, thats why blooky is chilling in the ruins so much at the start of the game
Theyre just there to visit their shy baby cousin ;;
Ofc they wont tell frisk about this because chara wants space and privacy and blooky respects that
but maddy and mtt also visit them a lot
Oh also when mtt and maddy start dissapearing, blookys mental health plummets as their family and support system starts to dissolve
Blooky was actually doing extremely well (for a ghost) for a long time, i headcanon,
but theyre doing the worst theyve been in a long long time during the game, because of family issues
So anyway, chara dissapears when frisk shows up, and maddy assumes this is becaude frisk hurt their fragile feelings
Maddy spends hours desperately searching the ruins for chara and cant find them and assumes that they had their heart crushed and went to hide and disappear in a depression coma for another few decades, and thats part of why maddy is so furious with frisk
Like,, to be clear, maddy is still jumping to conclusions and throwing blame around with no proof, but also, its a logical conclusion to come to
And mettaton has already disappeared too and been gone for a while, too, by this point, so it hurts even worse
But anyway, what actually happened to chara is that;
Because chara is a human ghost, not a monster ghost, normal ghost rules dont apply to them
And they can possess living things too they find out
Maybe they knew it a long time ago, maybe its a new discovery, but for whatever reason they end up possessing frisk and theyre like “what the heck”
And frisk still has most of the control
But now chara is like,,, “this is my chance, im a human again, gotta save the world for real,,,”
and they cant explain this to anyone without revealing their past
so they just chill in frisk’s mind while being super crypic and trying to figure out how it works
Pacifist route, this is pretty much exactly what happens
They manage to help frisk save the day
And in my headcanon, the no mercy route is started by frisk who is scared when faced by monsters attacking them
And then chara, who was aready hiding in a semidepression coma for a while, immediately transitions to a panicked “gotta protect this body, gotta protect my chance to be human, i died and threw away my chance to save everyone the first time, i CANNOT lose this chance again”
And so the combination of both frisk and chara is the genocide run
Because frisk kills in self defense, and whenever frisk hesitates, chara jumps in
Also theres leftover feelings from the whole asriel incident
Because again, ghosts come from monsters who died unsatisfied
And chara’s main source of unsatisfaction is how they were trying to get asriel to kill people before he died and then he didnt
So thats a strong strong feeling ruling them
So anyway by the time they both realize how bad its become they figure its too late and also the amount of LOVE has made them numb
And thats when chara who, despite everything, still has idiot hero complex and thinks they need to save the world
So, while panicking, they step in at the very end, and erase the timeline and delete everything
And also to clarify
They DONT HAVE this power at any other point in the game
Because, guess why
They become corporeal
Just like maddy, the no mercy route is the only thing that gives them strong enough emotion to spontaneously become corporeal
So they become corporeal and as soon as they have a soul again and can reset again, they just erase everything
Ok back to fluff
Post pacifist route, they are still a non corporeal ghost
They can still float around and look just like the other blooks
And it takes them a while to open up about things, but they do end up moving back in with blooky so that blooky isnt completely alone
And also they do way better with a family
Also they can float through the mountain and talk to flowey down below and bring him news
And now that they know about him, they can bond with him and explain that they dont have a soul either but that doesnt mean theyre worthless
Oh ALSO
The other dead humans dont have ghosts
BECAUSE
ghosts only come from restless dead MONSTERS
and chara is the weird special exception
Because they were a monster when they died
They became a ghost and asriel didnt because they were way more restless and stressed than asriel was when both of them died
Like sure, asriel felt awful, but chara was the one who was way more like “this is my fault, i CANT die now, the world NEEDS me”
So anyway
charablook the emo tween ghost and asriel flowey the eldrich goat daisy are siblings once more and they hang out and eventually they are okay and have a family again
Thank you for reading, this has been my thoughts on a crack theory that accidentally went too far
This isnt even everything, maybe i’ll make a part two eventually, but i promised to have this post out like two days ago, so i wanted to post SOMTHING
Anyway leave your thoughts if youd like
Im not looking for people to disprove it, i already know its crazy, i dont think it was intentional by the game writers, but i do think its a fun concept
thats the fun of it, so if anyone wants to run with it im all for it lol
Thanks again! Have a nice day!

Sero nods. “It’s the chance of a lifetime, really,” he says. “We want you to date Bakugou, for the sake of his reputation with the press. Some public appearances, a few ‘candid’ photos. For at least a couple of months.”
“Bakugou sent you to ask me to date him?” Kirishima asks, baffled.
“Of course not. We, his people, are asking you to date him. He’s going to have to get on board, if he wants his career to survive. And in the bargain, Riot will get all sorts of publicity, because their lyricist will be dating one of the industry’s hottest stars. A win for everyone.”
When Kirishima Eijirou's band hits the big time, he's not prepared for his newfound fame. He's even less prepared to meet the actor he's been crushing on for years, or to start dating him as a publicity stunt. The closer Kirishima gets to Bakugou Katsuki, the more he realizes he's in over his head. But it's hard to stop, once his heart is in it.

It all goes okay when Kirishima decides to come out to his friends and it all goes wrong when decides that Bakugou is the best fake boyfriend material.

“Are those soba noodles?” Kirishima asked.
Again Bakugou’s only reply was a grunt. He offered no further explanation—not that Kirishima honestly expected one—as though making soba noodles from scratch at half past four in the morning wasn’t at all a bizarre occurrence and made complete and total sense. For a fleeting moment, Kirishima even wondered if maybe he was the odd one here. Besides, he’d already decided it was generally not in his best interest to question these types of things with Bakugou, especially when it was something essentially harmless.
When Kirishima has a nightmare and is unable to fall back asleep, he accepts defeat and decides to study in the common area of the dorms. What he doesn't expect to find is Bakugou, also very much awake, and Kirishima can't help but think that maybe they're both having the same problems with sleeping. If he's worried, it's just because they're friends. (Right?)
the weight of your hand by kamin
That night, to the citizens, the explosions were a jolt of fear at every blast, but to the heroes and the students of UA, they were punches and swings, fierce fighting and loud strength. The explosions were the pulse of the battle, and the power of a boy that would never back down.
One after another, explosions set a chorus through the shuddering city.
And then, suddenly—the explosions stopped.
(In which Bakugou’s kidnapping goes a little differently, and just a few seconds could change so much.)

When a stranger shows up at the ice rink during Bakugou's usually private training sessions, Bakugou expects to hate him. He doesn't expect to develop feelings that become increasingly difficult to deny, or for them to help each other sort through their emotional baggage. - Bakugou really didn't like Kirishima's smile. There was something about it that made his stomach hurt, something about it that made it difficult to focus. He definitely hadn't thought about that smile on his way to the ice rink that day. He definitely hadn't.

When Bakugo and Kirishima get hit by a quirk that forces them to literally stick together or face the less then desirable consequences, how the fuck is Bakugo supposed to keep his crush hidden?! Well, turns out he never needed to.
-- “Well, this fucking sucks, how are we supposed to train?!” "Really closely?"
perihelion by tauontauoff
Bakugou was a comet, blazing out of reach. Kirishima knew he was stupidly lucky that his furious trajectory went by close enough that his fingertips got to graze the cowl of fire. It was enough.
During Christmas Class 1A and 1B spend a laid-back week learning about extreme environment hero work in the Alps. Kirishima was used to keeping part of his feelings for Bakugou hidden, and had every intention of keeping it that way, but things don't always go according to plan.

Bright red, spiky hair. Annoyingly bright smile. Clothes that radiate ‘look at me’ vibes. Neon yellow tank top with black shorts. And those were definitely crocs on his fucking feet.
Yeah, Katsuki hated this guy.

“We’ve been taking the same way to and from school for weeks,” Kirishima grinned, and then when Bakugou frowned at him he put on an affected pout, tilted his head so that he was looking at him through his thick, long lashes, “you never noticed? Am I that easy to miss?”
He could barely finish the sentence before a laugh escaped his lips, and Bakugou rolled his eyes, hit him with a shoulder a little more violently than necessary.
“You stick out like a sore thumb, broom-head,” he grumbled, promptly ignoring Kirishima's whining about his hairstyle when it started coming, “I didn’t notice ‘cause I didn’t care.”
“And now you do?”

Eijirou enjoys his job, working the graveyard shift at a 24/7 coffee shop. His daemon Riot is always there to keep him company, and he likes meeting the early-morning patrons and giving them the best possible kick-start to their day. It's been his routine for about a year now.
Then one day, a grouchy guy with a daemon in the form of a lion walks into the shop in the dead of night, and Eijirou decides to strike up a conversation with him.

“So you want to use me to piss off your mom?” Kirishima summarized, raising one pierced eyebrow at Katsuki.
“Look, if you want to be all fucking judgy about it, I take cash,” Katsuki said, dropping his hand palm up on the table.
“Hey now,” Kirishima said, raising his hands in surrender, “I didn’t say I wasn’t doing it. I’m always down for a little chaos.” He flashed a grin, showing off his ridiculous shark teeth.
“Good,” Katsuki said. “We start tomorrow."

He was starting to feel depressed. Life was so uninteresting. It was so mundane and forgettable. He had no one to hang out with besides Kota, his family didn’t even live in the city.
He grew his hair out as some sort of rebellion, some sort of stand to make his life the slightest bit more interesting. But he could already feel himself giving in to the pressure of cutting it. He needed to work to live. Without a job, he’d truly have nothing.

Katsuki Bakugou, one of the brightest rising stars on wall street, is in need of a new personal assistant. Again. Could Eijirou Kirishima finally be the one to last more than two months?

Four years after a classmate nobody seems to remember is kidnapped by the League of Villains, Kirishima drags an amnesiac hobo he found washed up on the beach into his apartment, attempts to teach him how to adult (with varying degrees of success), and discovers along the way that the line between heroism and villainy is quite fine indeed. Plot-divergent after episode 45, the Forest Training Camp arc.

Kirishima from a universe with no quirks is mind-swapped with an alternate universe version of himself where there are superpowers.
And in that universe he’s a super villain.
And Bakugou is the superhero who caught Evil-Kirishima and put him in prison.

“You’re the first guy friend I’ve had that I can just like, be friends with. You’re either the most unthirstiest boy ever...” Camie shrugged and made another wobbly illusion appear between her hands. It looked like a sparkly rainbow with the word ‘friendship’ beneath it, accompanied by what Bakugou assumed was supposed to be a twinkling sound effect, but it had a tinny quality to it and sounded far away. “...or I just ain’t got the kinda straw you like to ssssip.”
Carefully, Bakugou considered the strange turn this conversation had taken.
He had never been asked, point blank, if he was gay before. And he honestly had never thought about how he would respond. Lying about himself didn’t sit right with him. But he’d always wanted to wait until he was the number one hero - when he stood above everyone else - before coming out. Though he’d had times when he’d thought about doing it before then and had almost gone through with it once. But being the number one hero came first. It wouldn’t matter what people would say about it then as long as he’d risen to the top.
Bakugou knew his lack of a response would give Camie all the answers she needed.

“I’m telling you now, Shitty Hair,” the blonde growled, “I am not gonna play house with you. We will cart this stupid flour around for a week like the assignment says. But some of our idiot classmates are naming the thing and setting up ‘playdates’ and dressing it and I am not doing anything that stupid. Got it?”
Kirishima and Bakugou are paired up to take care of a flour sack for a week. It would be so simple, except nothing with Bakugou is ever simple. Also Kirishima might be kinda sorta completely head over heels for him.

that feeling when you suddenly want to jump off a cliff for no reason but instead of a cliff it’s your best friend and instead of jumping it’s growing feelings out of nowhere
or how Bakugou has to try really hard not to throw everything to the wind, and Kirishima doesn't help
i also have a tag specifically for fics that reach somewhere between 30k-70k words long if you wanted to check that out as well! i hope you enjoy the fics here and that i was able to help, ily enjoy your trip!!! :D
