Summary: matts girlfriend can’t sleep, she and her bestfriend Nick watch a film on the couch.

It was around 12:30am, the only time the sturniolo household was relatively quiet minus the soft hum of the tv coming from the living room as everyone was settling down for the night. The boys had just come back from filming the newest car video and everyone filtered around the house doing their own things. Y/N and Matt in their shared bedroom, Chris, for once in his own room, and Nick in the living room, presumably editing the YouTube video ready to be posted the next day. Matt was fast asleep behind Y/N, while she laid awake staring at the ceiling hoping sleep would overcome her eventually.

*hour later*

Y/N still couldn’t seem to fall asleep no matter how much she tried. She turned her body to face Matt who was still fast asleep, softly snoring with his beloved pug stuffed animal mr wrinkleton against his chest. Finally, she threw her legs over the side of the bed and threw on a pair of socks she found to avoid her feet getting cold and she quietly made her way over to Matt’s desk chair and grabbed his hoodie that hung on the back of the chair and she put it on, the hoodie drowning her small frame. She made her way over to the bedroom door and quietly opened it and made her way out and down the small corridor into the kitchen where she was met with the sight of Nick and Lauren, a friend of theirs they’ve known since high school and Chris’ girlfriend, sat on the couch together watching a film on the tv with a blanket thrown lazily across their legs Nick turned his gaze away from the tv as he heard her footsteps across the wooden floor.

‘Hey. I thought you were asleep. Everything okay?’ Nick asked the Y/H/C girl as he watched her open the fridge and grabbed the carton of milk. ‘hey, just couldn’t sleep that’s all. how come you’re both still awake?’ She replied quietly, not wanting to potentially wake Matt up ‘not long finished editing for tomorrow’s video. Probably gonna head to bed soon’ he replied. ‘Come watch this film with us Y/N/N, it’s Jaeden Martell’s new film and it’s only just started.’ lauren added on, knowing how much Y/N loves Jaeden and his films. Y/N nodded and trudged over to the couch after she finished her milk and put the empty glass in the dishwasher and sat next to Nick, who put the blanket over her legs and she sunk into the couch and made herself comfortable and they all continued to watch the movie, Nick occasionally on his phone answering Snapchat replies from fans.

*time skip*

Nick yawned as the credits rolled. Lauren had taken herself downstairs to Chris’ room halfway through the movie since she got too tired but Nick and Y/N decided to stay upstairs and finish the movie. The blue eyed boy felt a weight on his shoulder, he looked to his side and saw the younger girl asleep on his shoulder as soft snores escaped her lips. He chuckled softly at the sight of the girl who was like his sister. He gently tapped her, causing a mumble to escape her lips.

‘Hey sleepy head.’ Nick spoke softly as to not annoy her as he knew how easily annoyed she got if people spoke to loudly when she first wakes up. ‘Mmm hey.’ she murmured, and sent him a sleepy smile, and she made no effort to get up off the couch to go back to bed.

‘Want me to carry you kid?’ He said to the sleepy girl who was practically falling back asleep and she lazily nodded. Nick took the blanket off her legs and quickly folded it up and threw it onto the back of the couch. He put his phone in his pyjama pants pocket. He gently picked Y/N up, hooking his arms behind her back and behind her knees and carried her bridal style through the corridor and gently kicked open the door to Matt and Y/N’s bedroom which was open adjar to begin with.

Nick laid his best friend on her side of the bed, he removed her socks for her, aware of how much she hated sleeping with socks on as she shuffled slightly to get comfortable on the bed and he put the blanket over her body. As he was moving, the floorboards made a loud creaking noise which made Nick silently curse to himself as he watched his brother slowly wake up.

‘Nick, what are you doing?’ Matt mumbled with his voice full of sleep, slightly annoyed at being woken up ‘Sorry Matt, she fell asleep watching a movie on the couch so I brought her back to bed, you know, being the nice bestfriend I am’ Nick replied pointing at the half asleep girl next to Matt as if he was stating the obvious ‘Goodnight both of you’ Nick whispered as he made his way out the bedroom and made his way up to his own bedroom.

Almost as soon as Nick left his room, Matt looked over at Y/N, who, in her sleepy state, had reached out for mr wrinkleton and took the stuffed animal in her arms. He let out a soft chuckle at his girls antics and almost as if she’d sensed him shuffling around to get comfortable, she subconsciously moved so that her head rested on Matt’s chest and wrapped her arm around his torso, the stuffed animal getting squished between the couple as Matt wrapped his arms around her shoulders.

‘Goodnight sleepy girl, I love you’ Matt whispered to her, he felt her squeeze his torso gently in acknowledgment, she mumbled a quiet ‘I love you’ back to the brown haired boy as they both nodded off.

okay so i can't get the idea of playlists eddie and buck create for each other out of my head. likkkkee

I think buck makes him a playlist first. Becuse buck is more on the "gen z" side of the "gen z/millenial" cusp both him and eddie sit on. Buck understands the connotations of a spotify playlist you make for someone else, okay. It's the equivlent of a scrunchie you wear on your wrist even though you don't have long enough hair for that. it's simmalar to giving your S/O your jacket when they look at you, pout, and say "i'm cold". but it's actualy better and more personal than both of those things.

Becuse creating a playlist requires you to curate songs you realte to the person OR songs you think the person will like. you must have an intamate knoladge of the person to create the perfect spotify playlist for them. Thus, buck spends every waking second of his days for two whole weeks making eddie the perfect spotify playlist. It's long enough that getting ready in the morning none of the songs loop, but short enough that it shouldn't feel daunting. It's got a bunch of songs eddie will defbinatly like, but also some pointed songs about love. Buck hopes the intent of those songs are clear... things buck feels about eddie.

Eddie.... doesn't get it at first. Buck tells him that he made a playlist for eddie and eddie just kind of... says "thank you" and moves on with his day. Buck seems kinda sad, like a kicked puppy. Eddie doesn't kniw what to do about it. It looks like buck was looking for... some kind of reaction. But eddie doesn't get it.

Of course, when he gets home for the day in his too-quiet house, eddie puts on buck's playlist. Of course he would!! he finds himself liking every song, little green hearts lining the playlist as each and every song has some little part that eddie likes; it was clear buck put a lot of time and attention in to it. In to eddie. (He didn't deserve it.)

eddie, feeling a bit out of his lane, asks google about it. (Look, don't judge him.) Google leads him to a linked tiktok saying that it is customary to give a playlist back. (It also leads him to a tiktok of a woman who says "It's like when you used to burn a CD for your crush back in the day. This is gen z's version of that." Now that eddie understands, as he burned shannon a CD for one of their first dates. His heart flutters at the memory, but also the implications.)

So, a week later, he texts buck a link to a playlist he made for buck. He doesn't know if he did it right, or as well as buck made his, but he gets a text back in about an hour that just says (😭😭❗️❗️❗️❗️) so that probably means buck likes it.

When eddie moves to texas, buck doesn't listen to his playlist unless it's late at night (the only time he alows himself to think about eddie. the only time buck can cry about eddie.) eddie listens to the playlist literaly all day if he can help it. He falls asleep to the playlist, it's looping in his ear durring all his workout sessions, and at this point he doesn't cook without it. (he's desperatly trying to fill the gaping hole left in him by the absense of his best frenid, esp. as phone calls are getting shorter and more sparse.)

"Your trick wasn't even that good."

A mini you crossed your arms as you smugly smiled at the small magician.

Lyney glared back at you as he held his small mini wand that was gifted to him.

"Oh? Well, does that mean you could do a better trick then? Show me!"

A small crowd of kids started to surround the both of you as you rolled your eyes and pulled out your mini wand.

"I'll show you a real trick!"

All the kids at the orphanage started to whisper as you started a magic battle with your rival, Lyney.

You and Lyney both laid in the grass, exhausted.

The crowd of kids were gone when they realized that you both were too tired to do anymore magic tricks, so it was just the two of you.

Lyney eventually catched his breath as he turned to you and smugly smiled.

"I obviously won!"

You glared back at him.

"No, I did!!"

You both went back and forth as you both eventually gave up.

So here you both were, laying in the grass next to each other staring at the clouds.

"You have a weird hat."

"So. You have a cape on."

"You're wearing one too, dummy."

You rolled your eyes, but you both couldn't help but develop a small smile on the both of your faces. You both started giggling at the stupid insults.

It was all memories like these that you would never forget when you lived in that horrible orphanage.

Fixing your cape and the bow in your hair, you got ready for one of your performances.

Although you didn't like the idea of it, you would be performing with Lyney. Your enemy...

You didn't want to be on the same stage as him, but as the both of you grew more talented in your tricks, you and Lyney became known as the most talented magicians in Fontaine.

This also lead to your fans pleading for you to collaborate with the young magician.

Lyney thought it was a good idea since it would attract more fans, and he eventually convinced you to do it.

So here you are now, performing with your rival.

Everything was going well for the first few tricks. The crowd cheered as you and Lyney kept doing very interesting stunts.

To you and Lyney, this wasn't a performance. It was a competition.

This brought you back to when you and Lyney were kids. All the dumb memories leading up until this moment.

Just why were you trying so hard..?

You didn't know, but to be honest, you were too scared to find out.

Deciding to use your cryo vision, you made platforms and started jumping on them.

You were so caught up in your thoughts that you slipped.

You tried to catch yourself by using your vision, but the ice you threw missed and hit the wall instead. Luckily, it missed the people in the audience.

As you fell, you couldn't help but feel like you lost.

As a child, you were always the best one at doing magic tricks, but now look a you...

Turning your head, you looked at Lyney. He had just realized you were falling, but you didn't care about that.

The way he looked in the light made you realize that you were never in front of him at all. He was always in the light, not you.

He looked perfect, standing there on stage. Maybe you were always so jealous of him because you knew he was better than you.

Even then, you thought that when you received your cryo vision, you would be better. But a little while later, he obtains a Pyro one.

Even when you gained your own audience, his was always bigger. You guessed that this was just fate and you were the less favorable one.

Closing your eyes, you accepted your defeat. Now you knew why you tried so hard. All of this was because...-

"Y/n, are you okay?!"

You slowly opened your eyes. You were in Lyney's arms. He caught you...

You looked up at him.

He looked genuinely concerned, and for once, he wasn't wearing that stupid smug smile on his face.

"Yeah..."

You looked down at your lap. You ruined the performance and most likely embarrassed Lyney in front of everyone.

Feeling your lips trembling, but no tears, you moved your hands up to your lips and covered them. You also closed your eyes to prevent any tears from forming. You didn't want him to see you like this...

Ending the show and concluding it by saying there would be another performance next week, Lyney brought you to the back and put you down.

You immediately walked over to a table and sat down. You ruined everything...

Lyney watched as your grip tightened on your clothes.

"Y/n, do you hate me?"

You tried to control your sobs as you stared at the ground.

Mumbling a small 'no', Lyney couldn't help but have more questions pop up in his mind.

"Then... why do you push me away..?"

You spared a glance at him. Once again, the light was pointing towards him.

You couldn't help but furrow your eyebrows as you grew more frustrated with yourself.

Angry tears flowed down as you fully turned around and glared at him.

finished atypical family and I’m an emotional ass. like tears following down, choked up, hating every second of it rn ( I finished the episode 10 mins ago)

the way I’ve not even written about it here but #trust that I will. i just have exams soon and i needed more than what Twitter allows to talk.

⚠️❗️⚠️❗️spoilers ahead my loves so skip this post if you haven’t seen it yet

I kinda get everyone now. A lot of dramas have made me sad and cry but I guess after a long time one has given me this variety of sadness and frustration and that’s the atypical family. 😭 Gwiju dies.

I did not anticipate this because my brain is hard wired into ‘thinking everything is always going to be okay!’ and the more I thought about it I came up with lots of reasons and theories as to why he’d be safe.

Now I’m always ready for characters dying or us getting a sad ending but I guess certain shows just manage to illicit a response out of you. That all my preparation for a just in case fell apart and I found myself just going ‘this isn’t happening, surely this isn’t happening’ while realising it was inevitable.

power of story telling and connecting to characters always beating my ass omg

anyway reasons my dumbass kept fooling myself:

1) I thought there’s no way that 2 people come out of a fire from the 5th fucking floor and only one comes out alive.

Reality : I clearly have 0 idea as to how people prepare for fire accidents and also had just assumed they were stuck in the room where she was locked. They escaped that room and the fire was everywhere, he managed to push her out of a window where they had that trampoline thing that protects you from these falls and the building explodes (I’m so fragile rn 😭💔)

2) I did not think he could get hurt in the past because he could barely touch anything in the past.

Reality : already flopped as a theory in the 11th episode as he gets his scar and proves he is now vulnerable while time travelling.

3) and the most important one was that I did not think they’d do this to Ina. I know this should be number 1 but I wanted to do the thought and explanation thing and how do you explain this. 😭

gotta give writers their tens. had me confused and theorising the whole show. had me by telling us in the last episode that the precognitive dream Mrs. Bok has can be interpreted differently and as Dahae had said I believed maybe she didn’t see everything.

lmaoooo the way it was real. they stuck to facts. Mrs Bok sees the future and it cannot be changed.

not only did Gwiju have to deal with the fire he had to deal with it TWICE.

first, we take one of the most beautiful days of Ina and the Bok family and throw a terrifying fire in there. Gwiju gets just in time to save them from a wall with a clock about to fall on Dahae and Ina and realises it’s going to happen regardless. Saves them as Dahae becomes my sit in representation in the show.

as the wall kept falling Dahae holding Ina was sobbing and begging him to leave with them and I truly got her because I wanted that with every fibre of my being 😭😭😭

I wanted them to be together. All of them as a family. How do you take a family fully broken by an incident, heal them step by step and then do this.

Dahae got someone who loved her completely and gave her a family, in turn her consistently being around Gwiju made him slowly turn around and being repairing his relationship with Ina. Ina got to have a few warm memories with her father, got Dahae and got a little extended family with the sauna people. Gwiju truly had the turn around of the century and boom, he has to travel in the past to keep all of this a reality.

part of me truly didn’t want that to happen. Dahae had said to her uncle in the 10th episode that what if he doesn’t go to save her, is she going to disappear into thin air?

I was kinda hoping the same thing. Then Gwiju came in and said he had to do it but would do it when he turns 99 and I wanted that so baddd.

and the next thing we know as Dahae leaves sobbing with Ina on her back, Gwiju travels back in time running, thanking his first wife, seeing his beloved senior enter that school and running through a burning building to find Dahae. everything was so over for me mentally here I don’t even think I’ve processed it yet like I just realised I’m basically writing whatever happened in the episode here 💀

anyway everything from here ohhhh it got me bad, him helping her, the background music as he said what he had to and looked at her with tears in his eyes and helped her out of the building and then it exploded….

I’ve truly been stunned into silence.

now as a little treat in the ending, we find out that Dahae has given birth to their son and he can bring back things from the past.

the clock wall being the realisation for Gwiju in Ina’s school fire that he has to go back, the focus on the clock and everything turning into colour as Gwiju runs to help Dahae in the fire 13 years back and their son, in the future (is he 5, she says she lost something precious 18 years ago?) playing with a ball toy that has numbers all over it ??? much to think about but theorising has hurt me with this show so low-key don’t want to do it 😭

(also Ina being missing from the final 5-10 minutes :( )

Lando Norris x fem!reader

summary: Lando and Y/N go on holiday together during the summer break and come home engaged.

A/N: Keep in mind throughout that I have no idea how the luxury life works im broke asf so it may be inaccurate😭and sorry for quite a few time skips I had a bit of writers block😭

Y/N and Lando were currently halfway through their flight en route to Mykonos for a week while Lando had the summer break. The couple had a few things pre planned for the week in Greece such as a party boat they had booked prior to the holiday and Y/N was hoping for no more injuries on Lando's end after the incident in Amsterdam and going to a few tourist attractions, but they mostly just wanted to spend time with each other, they didn’t care what they were doing as long as they were together, and of course they were staying with Hilton as the couple always had the best experiences with Hilton hotels and being a sponsor of McLaren, it was only right they chose Hilton. 

Lando was scrolling on his phone and he felt a weight on his shoulder, he looked to his side and saw his girlfriend asleep on his shoulder. The love of his life, his best friend, his girl and hopefully, soon, his wife. She had been by his side since before he made it into f1, he remembers vividly how excited she was when he told her he was offered a seat with McLaren, she seemed more excited than he was, and she hadn’t left his side since. He smiled at the memory. He had a whole plan set in place to propose to Y/N, he couldn’t wait to propose to her, he had brought the ring around 2 years into the relationship when he was out with Max and he saw the perfect ring that just screamed Y/N to him and he’d just been waiting for the perfect moment, which was this holiday and also their 5 year anniversary. 

time skip to landing

Lando was looking out the window in his own world when he heard the pilot over the intercom. 

“Mr Norris, we will be starting descent in Mykonos in about 10 minutes so please get ready to fasten your seatbelt sir.” On cue, he saw the little seatbelt light come on above his head. He gently shook Y/N to wake her up. 

“Darling, we’ll be landing soon, you need to put your seatbelt on.” He spoke quietly as he knows she doesn’t like loud noises when she first wakes up. She stirs and slowly opens her eyes and lifted her head off Lando’s shoulder. Lando looked at her with a soft smile and a little chuckle escaped his lips at the sight of the woman’s messy hair.  

“Hey sleepy head, pilot just said to put our belts on we’ll be descending soon.” She nodded at him as she fixed her hair and put her belt on, Lando doing the same next to her. 

As they got closer to the ground, Y/N grabbed hold on Lando’s hand to comfort herself as landing was probably her least favourite part of flying and he rubbed her knuckles in a comforting manner. 

After landing, they grabbed their luggage and made their way to the chauffeur who led them to the car provided by Hilton to take them to the hotel.

They arrived to their room in the hotel and unpacked their suitcases and got changed into some clothes more suited to the warm climate of the island they were on for the next two weeks as they had an early flight and when the couple arrived it was only early afternoon After changing, Y/N and Lando left the hotel and went for a small walk around the town and get anything little essentials they may need while on holiday like bottles of water, snacks for the hotel room etc. 

“Don’t forget we need to buy sunscreen aswel, since somebody left it behind being the clever clogs he is.” Y/N said, giving Lando a cheeky smile.  

“Ha Ha, very funny cheeky.” Lando replied sarcastically, pinching her side softly. The couple laughed as they continued to walk in and out of shops and buy the essentials. 

Later on that day, Y/N was relaxing on a sunbed reading her book and Lando was next to her on another sunbed with his hat over his eyes. About half hour later, Y/N was now lying on her stomach so she could tan her back aswel as her front and she felt a pair of hands smack her bum. She looked behind to see her boyfriend with a boyish smile on his face, she smiled back at him and rolled her eyes jokingly at his actions. 

“Do you want another drink baby? I'm going to the bar.” Lando stated and she nodded. 

“Same again please Lan, I'm going to head up to the room for a little siesta, it’s getting pretty warm out here.” He nodded in understanding knowing how easily the heat got to her sometimes, that’s why he always made sure she was well hydrated and was taking care of herself. 

“Okay baby, I’ll grab our drinks and I’ll come up aswel and have a quick shower or something.” She nodded at her boyfriend before he left to go get their drinks from the bar. She packed up everything she had brought down to the pool with her and made her way into the hotel and up to their room. 

couple days later

Y/N was relaxing on the balcony of the hotel room while waiting for Lando to get back, he’d told her he was going out to get some more water for the room when in reality he was sat in the hotel reception talking on the phone to the manager of the restaurant he was planning to take Y/N to on the last day of the holiday, their anniversary, to finalise any details about the proposal and the booking details.  

“So, you’ll tell her you’re going to the bathroom and one of our waiters will lead her out to the beach? Is that correct Mr Norris?” the manager asked Lando over the phone.

“Yes, that is correct. Thank you again for helping me with this. It means a lot.” Lando replied, the manager smiled at the idea of young love.

“It's quite alright sir. Right, that's all booked and ready for you for a few days' time.” 

Once everything was finalised, he thanked the manager and hung up the phone and left the hotel with a small smile on his face at the thought of him proposing to the love of his life in the next couple days and made his way to the little shop 10 minutes from the hotel and grabbed the bottles of water like he had told Y/N he was doing. 

He walked back to the hotel and into the hotel room where he was met with the sight of Y/N asleep on the sofa in the living area with the balcony door open to let a breeze in and her book covering her face. He smiled in amusement and put the crate of water bottles down and he made his way over to the sofa. He crouched down in front of her and took her book from off her face, keeping his thumb on the page so she wouldn’t lose her page and quickly put her bookmark in place before closing it. He gently shook her awake.  

“Wake up sleepy head. We need to go downstairs for lunch soon.” She opened her eyes lazily and looked at Lando with a sleepy smile which he returned with a smile of his own. She slowly sat up and picked up her half drunk bottle of water off the table in front of her. 

“Hey pretty girl, the sun tired you out huh?” He joked, stroking her thigh. She nodded softly before speaking. 

“Yeah, and it didn’t help next door had a crying baby and I couldn’t focus on my book, so I just came inside.” Lando chuckled at her response.  

“We’ll be heading down for lunch in a minute if you wanna go freshen up a bit beforehand.” The curly haired boy spoke, Y/N nodded and made her way to their bedroom to put a clean top on as she had some sweat stains that didn’t look flattering at all and touched up the small amount of makeup she had on which consisted of just concealer, mascara and some lip balm. 

The couple both headed down to lunch, indulging in conversation about the most random topics causing them both to start laughing. The couple were suddenly interrupted by a little girl, who looked no older than 5 and had a little bunny stuffed animal in her arms, who came up to them and tapped Y/N’s arm softly. 

“Excuse me miss, can you help me find my mummy. I was with her and my older brother and now I can’t find them.” The older woman’s eyes softened at the sight of the tears in the little girl's eyes. She nodded at her. 

“Of course, sweetheart. What’s your name?” Y/N spoke in a gentle tone. 

“Emily, I’m sorry for interrupting you two, but I recognised Lando because Jack my brother is a formula one fan and I’ve seen him on tv, so I thought you two seemed safe rather than a complete stranger.” Emily admitted shyly, Lando nodded at her with a smile before the couple stood up to help her find her brother and mum. 

“You did the right thing sweetie. C’mon we’ll help you find your mum” Lando spoke, he held the little girl's small hand in his and the three of them made their way over to the front desk at reception. 

“Excuse me, this little girl has lost her mum. Do you have any idea where she could be?” Y/N asked the lady on the front desk. She nodded and made her way around to the front of the desk so she could talk to Emily. 

“What does your mum look like sweetheart?” She asked as she crouched down to her size. 

“Brown hair, green eyes, she had a long blue dress on, she was with my older brother who was wearing red swim shorts and a Minecraft t-shirt” the receptionist nodded at her. All of a sudden, they heard the voice of a woman, Y/N looked up to see a woman matching Emily’s description of her mother.  

“Emily! There you are baby!” She ran over and gave her a quick hug. Emily pointed to the three other adults before she spoke to her mum.

“The helped me mummy. Lando and his girlfriend helped me find you and the nice lady on reception!” Emily walked over to Y/N and gave her a hug which Y/N reciprocated. 

“Thank you.” Emily muttered smiling up at the couple. They both smiled at her. 

“Thank you for helping my daughter, we were so worried!” Her mum exclaimed.  

“It’s fine honestly! I can’t imagine how worried I’d be if I’d lost my kid in a resort this big.” She replied, the two women chuckling at her response. Lando looked to Jack and smiled. 

“Hey buddy, I hear you’re a formula one fan? Do you want a photo?” He asked and Jack nodded quickly, the children’s mum pulled out her phone and Jack walked over to Lando and the pair took a photo together. Jack said a quick thank you to the driver before the little family headed off and the couple went to their room to get ready for the party boat they were going on later, which thankfully did not end in any injuries on Lando’s part this time.

 

the last night of the holiday

Tonight was Y/N and Lando’s last night of the holiday, and it was their anniversary. After a morning full of cuddles, kisses, some less PG stuff and exchanging cards and gifts, the couple had spent the rest of the day walking around visiting little landmarks around Mykonos and getting gifts for family members.  

They were now currently getting ready to head out to the Italian restaurant Lando had booked for them. Y/N was wearing a flowy white dress that came down to just below her knees and Lando was wearing a plain white dress shirt and some khaki shorts that Y/N had brought him just before they came to Mykonos. 

“You ready sweetheart?” Lando shouted to Y/N from the bedroom. She walked in and smiled at him. 

“Yup. You ready?” She replied walking into the bedroom smiling at Lando who was sat on the bed. He reached out to her and rested his hands on her waist and pulled her into him, he pulled her down slightly and planted a kiss to her lips. 

“You look stunning baby. An absolute princess if you ask me.” he expressed with a small smirk on his face. She grabbed her bag off the bed and grabbed Lando’s hand and the couple made their way out the hotel and to the restaurant.  

Once they arrived at the restaurant, the waiter took them to their seats and took their orders, coming back shortly after with the drink orders which was some red wine for both of them. When they had their food brought to them around 20 minutes later, they ate their food while talking about anything they could think of. There was never a dull moment with Y/N and Lando’s conversations.

After eating and having paid the bill. Lando was about to put the plan into motion. 

“I’m just gonna head to the bathroom before we leave gorgeous. Won’t be long.” She nodded at Lando, what she didn’t realise was Lando was actually leaving through the back entrance of the restaurant to get to the beach across from the restaurant without Y/N realising. 

Shortly after, the waiter came over to Y/N and held his arm out for her to take. 

“If you’d like to close your eyes and follow me miss.” he requested. She skeptically complied and took his arm as she closed her eyes, and he took her across to the beach where Lando was waiting by the ocean.  

Once she was in front of Lando, he silently thanked the waiter and he left and went back to the restaurant. Lando grabbed Y/N’s hands in his and she took that as a sign to open her eyes and her and Lando were the only ones on the beach and the only sounds was the water crashing onto the sand. Lando began to speak. 

“Y/N, from the moment I made it home after our first date when we were 19, I knew you were the one. You’ve been with me through the ups and downs of not only my life, but my entire career and I could not thank you enough. You experienced my first podium with me and my first win and every other milestone in my career and I’ll forever be grateful to have you by my side for everything. My mum always told me as a kid that when I meet the one, I’d feel it. You’re the one Y/N. You’re my person.” Lando announced. Y/N’s hand flew over her mouth as Lando got down onto one knee and pulled out a red velvet box, opening the box to reveal the most stunning diamond ring, tears were welling in both of the adults’ eyes. 

“Y/N M/N/ L/N, will you make the happiest man ever and marry me?” He spoke with a hint of emotion in his voice. She vigorously nodded her head, tears flowing down her cheeks. 

“Yes Lando! Of course I’ll marry you” she replied. He grinned up at her and placed the ring on her left ring finger as he stood back up, hearing distant claps from people passing by and sat outside the restaurant who had witnessed the proposal. He then cupped her cheeks and pulled her into a passionate kiss full of love. The newly engaged couple pulled out of the kiss and smiled at each other, eyes filled with just as much love as the day they met. 

“I love you so much my darling girl. I can’t wait for you to be my wife.” He grinned ear to ear at his now fiancée.  

“I love you too my love. I can’t wait to be married to you and spend the rest of our lives together.” She replied, smiling back at her fiancé. 

They made their way up the beach, walking along the shore in a comfortable silence. Y/N was first to break the silence. 

“Oh my god I just realised I can now put my Pinterest board to use!” She exclaimed in excitement, clapping her hands together with a beaming smile on her face. Lando let out a laugh at her. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and Y/N wrapped her arm around his waist. 

“I knew you’d say that you muppet” Lando joked. She smiled softly up at him. 

“We’re both muppets but we’re each other's muppets.” She corrected the driver. He just smiled at his girl. 

“That we are beautiful, that we are.” He softly chuckled as they continued to walk down the beach. 

Once they got home from Mykonos early the next morning, Y/N and Lando had announced the proposal on social media and rang their families, who were all very happy and excited for the couple.

PART 1:CHAPTER 1

The air is hot, the water is warm, the sun was blazing in the beautiful blue sky. It was summer which meant that it was almost time to go to Carla’s beach house in Cousins. The place I grew up at with her two sons Eren and Jean, and of course my brother Connie. The place where I lost my first tooth. Learned how to ride my first bike. Had my first love. Cousins, was my home.

“Hitch! I can’t wear that! It’s so… slutty” I said with a disgusted but playful look. She held up a pink tube dress with long sleeves, the shoulders exposed and a pair of pink platform pumps.

“That’s the point y/n!” Hitch. Hitch and y/n, best friends till the end. Sometimes I wonder how we even became friends, it’s been so long I don’t even remember. We’re complete polar opposites. She loves to go out and party, I like to stay inside and watch musicals.

“And besides Eren’ll love it” she said teasingly

“No!” I protested “ We’re not even into each other like that” I lied. Eren and I were like a commensalism. I needed him to breathe, to live. But he never really paid attention to me like I did him. Whatever I did didn’t affect him so he didnt really care.

“LIAR LIAR pants on fire!” Hitch yelled out “ you like him and you know you do”

“Maybe” I murmured “ but he doesn’t like me back so I don’t need the outfit”

“Y/n, look you can’t stay the young gullible little sister forever. Whether you like it or not your changing. Actually you’ve already changed a lot! There’s no way Eren can resist a hot steamy make out session with you. No way! And you’ve gotta get out more!”

I knew I looked different but not enough for Eren to notice me. Right?

“Maybe but I don’t wanna get my hopes up”

“Girl if he doesn’t notice you then he’s cra cra. Here, take these just in case” she handed me along with her slutty outfit a neon green bikini ithong, a pink crochet cami with light colored cutoff shorts and a pair of white Tommy Hilfiger flip flops.

“Thanks Hitch, I don’t know what I’d do without you. I’m really gonna miss you”

“ hey don’t worry, I’ll see you in a week for your birthday” Bursting in to my room Connie said

“Come on y/n, moms pissed we haven’t left yet” I just blew him off. We walked downstairs and said our goodbyes. Connie drove, I rode shotgun and my mom, Hange, sat in the back seat. This was it, this was the beginning of our perfect, annual, summer getaway!

My goal was to make it so that someone who has never seen tsitp could still read this fanfic and enjoy it so my apologies the next chapter is also long but a lot more entertaining!

CHAPTER 2

As soon as we arrive in Cousins every summer, we always stop at this gas station a few miles from Carla’s to get gas and snacks.

“Come on y/n let’s get snacks while Connie fills the tank. Connie just meet us inside when your done”

“Got it!” Me and my brother said unanimously

I walked in and went straight to the slushie machine. Half cherry, half coke. Perfection! I got a couple airheads, a bag of cheetos and made my way toward cashier. He was tall, very pale, and had red hair. He wasn't a very attractive guy but he wasn’t particularly ugly either. The closer I got to the register the more our eyes met and the more his attractiveness started to increase.

“ Hey, im Floch, and you are?” he said with a smirky tone of voice

“Hey im y/n” I responded. I reached out to slide him my snacks and slushie and when he reached out to grab them from me, our hands touched. I blushed, he chuckled a bit.

“ I don’t think I’ve ever seen you here in cousins, I’d definitely remember if I saw a pretty girl like you, this your first summer?” He said as he rung up my items

“Oh umm no I’ve been coming here since before I can remember I just don’t really get out much” I could feel my cheeks get hot as my mind was still lingering in the compliment he gave me.

“ Well if you wanna get out more, all us summer Cousins kids are going out to the beach for a bonfire, if you wanna come?” The way he said it. The way his voice lingered when he said “if”. This is what Hitch meant. I had to take advantage of this opportunity!

“ yeah sure I’d love to-“

“Love to what?” My mom said curiously. I could hear Connie “oooooohhhh-ing” from the back of the store

“Nothing! See ya later” I had a goofy cheesy grin on my face. I couldn’t believe it, a boy wanted to invite me somewhere! I had to be there. Mom and Connie followed me back to the car.

“🎶We wanted to believe there was no

No Hell on Earth worse than what we know🎤” I sang out.

“Y/n. No” Connie said hiding a smile

“But every day just seems to worsen We weren't prepared at all🎤”

“🎤Now we must rise to this occasion Devoid of all consideration” I heard my mom hun in the back. After a few more verses we were all screaming at the top of our lungs,

“SASAGEYO SASAGEYO SHINZOU WO SASAGEYO!!🎤🎶” the song ended just as we pulled up to Carla’s beach house. When I got out the car I met with Jeans eyes. It felt like I was looking at a completely different person. Like he hadn’t been my best friend since before I can remember.

“ Y/N!!” He said as he took me in for a big bear hung

“ jEaN!” I said as he lifted me off the ground still bear hugging me

“Damn,Look at how big you’ve gotten! You're not out little y/n anymore” I blushed a bit when he said it.

“Yeah I guess I am changing” I walked over to Eren to hug him but decided against it at the last minute. He, like Jean, looked different too. His hair was a lot longer, he was taller, and you could definitely tell he was more toned than before. But the main thing I noticed was his aura. Something felt off with him. Like he was masking an important feature that made him, him.

“Hey, Eren” i said

“I see you stopped wearing your glasses.” That’s it?! That’s all he said to me?

“Yeah I guess I grew out of them!”

“I liked you better with them”

“Well,” I started, “ I like me better without them,” I said in a snarky tone. Eren was acting differently. Something was definitely up. I looked over at Jean and he had a look in his eye. The kind of look he gave before he did something he knew was bad.

“ guys,” he began, “ you know what time it is?”

“ no. No, no, no, no,no!!” I protested playfully

“Y/N SWIM! Y/N SWIM!!” They all chanted. They picked me up, Connie at my feet and Eren and Jean on each arm. They carried me to the pool out back.

“1!” They all said with a swing. “2! 3!” Before I knew it I was catapulted into the pool. I could hear them all up there laughing and I couldn’t help but laugh too.

“ Come on Jean, help me out of the pool” I said as I reached my arm out. When he grabbed my hand I saw a perfect moment for revenge. I had pulled Jean in the pool along with me. Connie and Eren just laughed and in that moment I saw a glimpse of the old Eren.

CHAPTER 3 Hange pov

“We are all set for your party tonight” the book store attendant said to me

“Great!” I replied.

“How was your?” He asked

“Oh my publishers didn’t send me on tour for this one, it’s been a pretty quiet release!”

“Are you on social media?” The girl asked. “You should really be on social media!”

“Ah, well, no, I’m not.”

“Are you working on something new?” He asked

“Always!” I replied Carla walked over and asked,

“How many copies did you make for tomorrow's night?”

“I think 20”

“Oh, that’s not nearly enough!” Carla protested “I’ve invited half the town!” She exclaimed. I looked at her in shock.

“What?” I said “ you said this was just going to be a small thing?!”

“Look, Petra,” she said to the store clerk “ I am so sorry but you might have to run to the Barnes and Noble in Portsmouth and get some more.”

“Business has been slow we haven’t had many copies of anything coming in” Petra said. Carla picked up a book off the counter and said

“ You must have 100 copies of this book?!”

I read the front of it

“ Levi Ackerman is the off brand Jonathan Franzen. Levi Ackerman is such a phony name. it’s like “hi I’m masculine but I’m intellectual” I mocked “ I bet Hemingway is his hero“

“Mm-hmm” Carla agreed

“ I bet he has horn rimmed glasses!” I teased some more.

“Yeah,see? I I held up his picture in the back of the book. “Yeah,” I heard a voice from across the room. “Contacts irritate my eyes.”

“Goodbye Levi!” The store clerk said as the man walked out the door.

“Yeah that was him,” Petra said “ he’s renting the Burke house this summer“

“Oh, that’s a nice place!” Carla said

I put the book back down on the counter ashamed of the situation.

“Sorry” I winced

CHAPTER 4

On the first night we always have Carla’s special, Stuffed bell peppers for dinner

“Eren, I heard you quit football,” my mom said

“Yeah. what’s it to you?” He replied

“ So, Connie, I heard you got a job for this summer?” Carla asked

“ oh yeah I’m gonna be working at the rec center-“

“Wait seriously!?” Jean cut off “me too!”

“Jean it’s not nice to cut people off”

“Sorry mom” Jean said he turned back to Connie “I’ll be a lifeguard at the pool”

“Saweet!!” Connie said. He always says dumb stuff like that.

“Y/n, as you know you're becoming a woman,” Carla began “ and here in Cousins we have our annual Debutante Ball and I think you should do it!” My mother practically choked at the news.

“ Ball?” She spat out “ that’s not really y/n’s style, right?” For the longest time I’d always seen Carla as a second mom. I always tried to please her and do everything like her. I even wished sometimes she was my mother. This would be my chance, my chance to do something for Carla to make her proud.

“ Sure,” I heard myself blurt out “I’ll do it. It seems harmless”

“Y/n, I don’t think you know what your getting yourself into” my mother lectured “ a ball is a lot of work and dedication and if I’m being honest you’ve never been one to really care about such things” I could feel the tension in the room rise.

“ Well Mother, it’s my decision and I’m doing it.” Eren rose from the table,

“May I be excused please?” He asked Carla

“Aren’t you going to finish dinner?” She rebuttal

“No, mom” he said sternly “now may I go?”

“Sure,” she replied. The table went silent.

After Dinner I went outside to find Eren. He was sitting along with his feet in the pool smoking a bud. I sat down next to him. He couldn’t have been more bothered to acknowledge me.

“ Smoking is bad for your health, you know?” I told him

“ Well it’s good for my stress,“ he replied. I looked into his eyes trying to find a glimpse of the old Eren, of who he was. Nothing.

“ hey you preached it first” he looked at me with a playful grin.

“ I guess I did, didn't I?” The tip of his bud met the concrete and he threw it across the pool.

“Are you seriously considering this ball thing?” He asked me

“”I mean yeah, I’ve gotten nothing better to do”

“Don’t let my mom make you her little doll because she never had a daughter”

“I don’t mind, sometimes I really wish I were her daughter!”

“Your better off with Hange, trust me”

Before I could get anything else out of him Connie and Jean came running at the house

“Come on Eren!” Jean had called “we ready to hit to the bonfire”

“ Can I come?” I asked joyfully

“ hell no!” Connie told me “ you're not old enough yet” I was furious at those words. I was old enough to go. And you know what? I didn’t need them, I'd go on my own. As soon as the boys left the house I ran upstairs to change into Hitch’s slutty outfit. To be honest I didn’t look that bad. I could get used to this me. The new me. I slipped on my shoes and tiptoed towards the door. Before I left I saw Hange and Carla sitting on the couch together watching a musical. My favorite one actually. West Side Story. I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe one day me and Hitch would be like that. Growing old together watching movies on a couch. I slowly opened the door and left. I’d walked in the dark for about 6 minutes until I heard the laughs of teenagers. I saw the glow of the bonfire and knew this was it.

CHAPTER 5

I walked down towards the bonfire and was immediately met with the smell of beer. I saw other kids drinking and making out. I walked out a bit more and I saw Floch, the guy from the gas station who invited me. He was making out with some blonde chick when he saw me. He quickly pulled away and ran over to me.

“Hey, it’s not what it looks like I was just-“ I cut him off.

“Just making out with some girl knowing good and well you invited another one here. Cuz that’s what it looks like to me!” He looked unbothered.

“That’s not it. See she was just holding your place till you got here!”

“And you know what? She can have that place cuz I don’t fuck with man whores.” Angrily I stormed off. How could I have been so foolish to really believe a guy liked me.I looked around a bit and I saw Eren. “ finally a familiar face“ I thought to myself. Until I saw him lean in and kiss another girl. I’m that moment my heart sank. I’d known Eren was probably interested in other girls but, to see it with my own two eyes boiled up a whole new anger in my heart. I could feel myself tear up. And Jean must’ve seen it too, because immediately after he came to me and pulled me away from the scene.

“Hey,” he shouted cheerfully “y/n is here!” I saw Connie’s head whip around.

“Y/n what the hell are you doing here? I told you not to come!” He had his arm around some girl I'd never seen before. She had her dark brown hair in a high ponytail, a Nirvana crop top on and a bikini thong.

“Because I can do whatever I want. I’m not a damn baby Connie!” He looked furious now

“Why am I even arguing with you? I'm taking you home now!”

“Con,” Jean interrupted, “just give her this one night.” Connie looked at him unamused “please 🥺” he said giving him a little pouty lip.

“Fine!” Connie said “but if you dare to even look at a drink you're out”

CHAPTER 6 Carla pov

“ When the boys threw Y/n in the pool today, I swear I almost saw a smile on Eren’s face. He was in a better mood today than I’ve seen him since him and Historia broke up” I said to Hange

“ I didn’t realize they were that serious?” She replied

“ Neither did I“ we both chuckled. “ he’s just always in such a bad mood. So unlike himself.”

“ since when did he quit football?“ she asked me.

“ A couple weeks ago. He only ever played football to please Grisha. I told you they weren’t getting along. I'm just gonna… let him have his space, you know? let him do his thing.” Hange looked at me with a concerned look.

“ don’t you think maybe it’s time you talked to him?” I looked at her blankly

“ There's nothing to talk about. Can we just have a really great summer like we said we would?” I leaned my arm out to touch her shoulder. We both laughed. “ How's your writing coming?” I asked her

“I just wanna hang out with you,” she replied “I could give a shit about that book right now”

“Liar! You give all your shits about your book. You give too many shits”

“It’s a mid list book” she said “ it’s been out for a month and it’s barely selling.

“ Well it is going to sell a ton of copies tomorrow and I can’t wait to read it!”

“ you never read my books“ she protested

“ Yes I do“ I lied. We both burst into laughter

“ read Levi Ackerman‘s book instead he’s got 150,000 followers on Instagram!” I chuckled a bit

“ you know it wouldn’t hurt you to put yourself out there more. Get on Tinder while your at it” I teased

“Oh my God, please stop!”

“Okay, okay. Maybe not tinder but what is the e app for the 40 and up crowd?”

“Oh I’m begging you stop!“ she cried out

“It’s Ourtime?!” I teased more

“No it’s not!” She said while laughing up a fit.

I scooted in closer and we laughed even harder. I looked at her with soft eyes.

“What?” She asked

“I really think you should let y/n have her deb season.”

“Please” she began “Debutante Balls are just so problematic!”

“I really want to see our girl in a white dress” I told her. Hange looked at me with sadness in her eyes.

“Fine. You win!”

“I always do” I told her

“ is still think it’s a bad idea” she exclaimed

“She might surprise you” I said as I rested my head on her shoulder “people can change you know?”

“Not us though.” She said

“Right,” I agreed, “ you and I are immovable objects.” We sat there together looking out on the lake.

CHAPTER 7

Yess! I had managed to stay. I turned around to talk to Jean but he was already gone with his friends playing an idiotic drinking game. I walked around a bit more until I saw some commotion over where Eren was. I quickly ran over to the scene to find a drunk Eren screaming at another guy.

“Give me the fucking beer back, Reiner!” He yelled

“Dude get your own!” He clapped back

“IT WAS MINE FIRST!” Eren lunged at the other guy knocking the beer out his hand. The two started throwing punches.

“Ereh, please stop, I'll get you another beer!” The girl he was making out with said

“Mikasa, stay out of this!” Eren yelled in a headlock. The boys started throwing punches at each other. I had to stop the fight. I ran over to Eren and pulled his arm back.

“The hell?!” Eren said. He had flung his fist back and striked me across the face. I held my cheek in awe. Jean came and held me from behind. Eren looked up and realized what he had done.

“I-I-I’m sorry, I didn’t” a drunken Eren said to me. My eyes started to tear up. I felt stupid for trying to come to this party. I ran over to the empty part of the beach and sat there and cried.

A little while later. I heard feet in the sand walking towards me. I looked up to find a tall white boy with short blonde hair and soft eyes sit down next to me.

“Hey” he said to me

“What do you want?” I replied back

“I just wanted to see if you were okay, that was a pretty nasty fall,”

“Yeah it was.”

“Is your far okay?” He asked

“Yeah it’s feeling a bit better”

“Well umm.. I have a cold beer if you want it?”

“I don’t drink.” I told him

“No,no,no me either,” he exclaimed “not to drink for your cheek.” I could feel my face get hot.

“Thanks” I held the beer up to my cheek “I’m sorry I didn’t even get your name.”

“Armin. Armin Arlert. And you?”

“Y/n L/n”

“That’s a very beautiful name”

“Thanks” we talked for what felt like hours. He seemed so familiar yet he was so far from it.

“Oh no” we heard someone from up the beach yell. “THE POPO ARE HERE!” I saw Jean run down the beach toward me. He grabbed my arm

“Come on y/n we gotta go!” Armin got up with us. Jean carried a wasted Eren on his shoulders to the car. He put Eren in the back seat and got in the driver's seat.

“Come on y/n get in the car” Jean yelled

“Actually I wanted to ride with Armin-“

“No actually you're gonna get your little ass in the car!” Jean had never used that tone of voice with me before. It was scary but effective.

“ When can I see you again?” I asked Armin.

“Well you could see me Saturday and the drive in movie and 8?”

“It’s a date” I said blushing “till next time

“Till next time!” He leaned in toward me and planted a kiss on my lips.

“Ewwww, Nasty” I heard Eren say from the back seat.

“Holy shit!” Jean said “I forgot about Connie! Don’t fucking move! I’ll brb” he raced out the car and down the beach to find Connie. I could help but smile at the thought of Armin. He made me feel so happy and warm inside. I felt Eren reach and his hand from the back seat and touch my hair.

“Your hair is like a little kid's hair,” he said, “always so messy. Y/n..” he started to say then there was a knock on the window. We both looked up to see an office.

“Have you kids been drinking?”

CHAPTER 8

The office trailed the four of us home. When she rang the doorbell my mother, Hange, answered it.

“Thank you so much for bringing them home, officer.” She shut the door “What were you kids thinking, getting drunk like that and having an officer bring you home?

“Mom,” Connie started, “ it wasn't even a big deal the cops just wanted to break up the bonfire!”

“ Wasn't a big deal? Con, you were escorted home by the police! THAT'S a pretty big deal to me!” You could hear Connie sniff the air a bit

“Were you guys smoking weed?” He asked

“What? Keep your voice down! Carla’s sleeping on the couch!”

“I wasn’t yelling you were mom.” Connie protested

“Just so you know Hange,” Jean began “ I wasn't drinking at all tonight. I was the DD I swear!”

Eren! You're the oldest. I expect so much more. What the hells got into you?” She looked at me “and when did you start leaving the house without telling anyone? And what the hell are you wearing?” I looked up at her

“It’s Hitch’s dress, and why am I the only one not allowed to go out-“

“It’s not that you can’t go out, it's just you need to tell someone before you leave.” She cut off “and how the hell did you even get there?”

“I walked,” I said under my breath. “You walked.” She mumbled as she put her hands to her head. “ you know better than to walk that far down the beach at night!” She's really pissed me off. I’d been her sweet innocent child for long enough. I deserved to have fun and to have my own life. She let Eren, Connie, and Jean live there life however but when I came to be I could do shit.

“Would you stop treating me like a child!” I lashed out at her. She looked me deep in the eyes, “if you wanna be treated like and adult… act like one!” She finished off her sentence in a stern voice. The kind that sent goosebumps down your arm.

“Then maybe y’all should too.” U was surprised to hear Eren say.

“Excuse me?” Mom asked as she looked at Carla’s boys “I just want you all to know that this night could’ve ended a lot differently if your family wasn’t your family.”

“We’re really sorry Hange.” Jean said

“Just go to bed guys.” I was the first one to leave. I went to the kitchen to grab a cold bag a veggies for my face. I went upstairs and changed into my night clothes. I laid back in my bed to sleep when I heard a knock through the wall. It was Jean. He’s still remembered our secret code from the summers before. I laughed softly before putting the bag back on my face and going to sleep.

CHAPTER 9 Eren pov

I got up from the bench to go to my room when I felt Hange grab my wrist.

“I don’t understand what’s going on with you?

“Nothing,” I told her “I’m fine”

“Eren!” I heard her say as I went into the living room. I saw my mother laying there on the couch. I took the throw blanket and placed it over her. I loved her but the sight of her made me so angry sometimes. I just wished she wouldn’t try so hard. So hard to pretend like everyone and everything was gonna be okay.
