Summer in Cousins was the one time of year I felt truly free, nothing really mattered there. Then again, everything mattered there. Belly liked to say nothing existed outside of summer, all the other seasons were just a pass by for it, and I couldn’t argue with her.
This was exactly why I wanted one last perfect summer. Mom told me that I wasn’t being fair, that this was going to be worse for everyone but wasn’t I allowed to be selfish? For once? I knew she couldn’t see it the way I did. I wanted Belly to have her first summer of real fun without having to worry about me. I wanted to see Jeremiah and Steven act stupid all summer without feeling like they needed to slow down for me. I wanted to see Conrad to be happy for one more summer, with me.
And everything was going so well, for the most part. Just like any other summer there was drama: Belly with her new friend Cam Cameron and Jeremiah, Steven with Taylor and Shaila but it was our kid problems, nothing more than that until tonight.
“Y/n you are not allowed to go!” My mother shouted as I made my way downstairs at eight o’clock.
“Stop babying me for God’s sake! I’m telling you I feel fine, I’ll be back in a couple of hours!” I screamed back, I just wanted to go to a party with my friends, I knew I had limits now and that I had to be careful. Still, I couldn’t stay locked in forever.
“Y/n you are getting weaker, are you trying to give your father and I a heart attack?” she asked, her voice still raised but there was a falter, it made me turn right around on my heel. There she was, standing on the top step with tears in her eyes. I could feel my own gloss over. I took a deep breath and looked up in an attempt to stop any tears falling, I was only wearing waterproof mascara but still-
“You’re our little girl and we just want to protect you,” Mom said, face flooded now, lowering to sit on the top stair, she was getting more tired now too.
“Mom I’m eighteen, I don’t know if I will make it through chemo this time and I can’t let it make me live in fear. I won’t let it make me hide around my room if this is my last summer,” I said with urgency and plea.
“It’s going to be a long program Y/n, and it’s going to take lots of strength, both physical and emotional but don’t you dare say you are not going to make it. You will beat it. We just don’t want you to get overwhelmed,” Dad’s voice echoed gently as he came out of our kitchen and pulled me into a hug.
“I know-” I paused looking between both of them, my cardigan in one hand and phone in my other, “I’ve signed up for the program and I will fight this cancer again but there’s nothing I can do now but wait around until the first round of chemo begins again, and who knows what I’ll be able to do after it?” I asked, I didn’t know whether I would live, and if I did how long I’d be weak, I didn’t want to miss out on these teenage years.
I felt dad brush his hand down my arm with a sigh, he looked up to mom who shook her head and couldn’t lift her gaze.
“I know, I’m sorry honey, but you know that if anything happens you call us right away, no matt-“ she began, standing up, but I cut her off.
“No matter where I am, no matter what I’m doing and there will be no questions asked,” I finished off for her, she smiled weakly and started making her way down to dad and I.
“Or you call for medical help first depending on what’s happening,” she informed me, at this point she’s said this to me so many times that I have the words tattooed inside my brain.
“I love you guys,” I said as they both squeeze me tightly just before a car horn sounds outside.
“Tell Connie we said hi and ask him to tell his mom we’ll bring that extra table for the barbeque party tomorrow when we come over for dinner,” Mom relayed to me as I slipped on my shoes.
“I will do,” I said quickly opening the door to slide out. I saw him first, Conrad Fisher, sat behind the wheel, his contagious smile and beautifully messy hair. Then I saw them, Belly, Jeremiah and Steven sat in the back all looking at Belly’s phone who sat in the middle, they were all laughing. I couldn’t believe the summer was nearly at it’s end and I got to spend it these wonderful, and slightly annoying, people.
“Omg Y/n you have to see this video Tylor filmed! This girl just found out her boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend so both she and the best friend chucked milkshakes at him! I’m so glad Taylor filmed this!” Belly exclaimed the second I opened the car door, pushing from up from her seat and shoving the phone in my face, I didn’t even get time to look before she leaned back and sat down muttering “Damn, Harry is not gonna have fun at school this year,”.
We all broke into a laughter, I turned to Connie who had his eyes on me since the moment I got in the car, I started relaying my parent’s message about the chairs and he leant over to kiss me.
“Okay we get it, you guys are in love but we have a party to get to!” Jeremiah exclaimed grabbing on my headrest to lean his body forwards into our space. I let out a laugh pulling away from Conrad.
“I love you,” he mouthed to me, I did the same back before he turned to his focus to the car and reversing in my driveway. The journey to the house party, I didn’t even know who was hosting this one, was filled with laughter and teasing to the point that Belly had actual tears running down her face.
“I am so glad you made me invest into waterproof mascara Y/n!” Belly said running her fingers under her eyes wiping away the tears. I loved having Belly around, another girl was great to have around, her being like a little sister to me. Even though it came with both its ups and downs of siblings like all the clothes she would ‘borrow’ and never give back, but she’s a good kid.
The party is looking well underway when we arrive, there’s flashing, changing lights to be seen through the windows and the music is echoing down the street. Some new trending song is blasting as we walk through the door. Belly quickly runs off to meet some friends she made at the country club, Jere was dragged away by some good looking guy whom he looked more than friendly with leaving me, Connie and Steven to head to the drinks table.
“Are you actually gonna drink with us tonight Y/n/n?” Steven asked leaning a cup in my direction. I really wanted to, I couldn’t express to anyone how much I wanted to fully let loose, drink away my worries for the night. But I couldn’t.
“Nah I’m good,” I tried to play it off cool, but he started play arguing with me.
“Alright let it go Steven,” Con said after a minutes, I lay my hand on his arm in a silent thanks.
“Okay well I’ll leave you loser to it I’ve just spotted Shayla coming in,” he announced already walking backwards to the beautiful girl.
“Are you alright?” Con’s voice pulled me away from the vision of Steven wrapping his arms around her shoulders, he had whispered something in her ear which made her erupt into this blooming, true laugh, they made each other so happy.
“What? Oh, yeah, I’m fine,” I said, pulling on a big smile, it wasn’t exactly a lie. I felt fine, more than fine standing here with him right next to me.
“It’s just you’ve not been wanting to drink, and not to pin you as an alcoholic or anything,” he defends quickly, “But you’re usually first to call shots,” he laughs pulling me closer as some guys come to the drinks table, it still swells my heart, his little tics of jealously and protection.
“I told you, it’s been really bad for my skin recently and I am not sacrificing this,” I reassured pointing to my face, “Plus it’s kind of funny being sober and watching everyone else make fools of themselves,”
“Can’t argue that,” he says, we settle into a comfortable silence, Con wasn’t drinking tonight he was nominated DD, so the two of us had to entertain ourselves sober. We weren’t standing around for too long when Getaway Car by Taylor Swift came on and I dragged him to the little makeshift dance floor in the living room.
We sang to each other as he led our little dance twirling me around every once in a while. Loads of the girls including Belly joined us screaming along to the bridge.
“God you’re perfect you know that? I think I’ll be crazy about you forever,” Con half shouted over the last chorus and I just shook him off with a gentle shove
“I love you,” I said pulling him into a massive hug. The second the song ended we noticed Jere and Steven stood in the doorway calling Con over, some kid was doing flip tricks on the trampoline and in their words ‘It was so sick! He’ll probably actually be sick if he doesn’t take a break!’
Connie was hesitant to leave me for a second, but I pushed him to the boys, they deserved his time as much as I did. I turned to the girls, and we danced to whatever song came on next, and the next and the next. By the fourth or fifth song I started to feel lightheaded.
“I’m just gonna find a bathroom real quick,” I shouted over to Belly tapping her shoulder, someone had turned the music up. She nodded and gave me a thumbs up before tipping the rest of her vodka lemonade in her mouth.
The bathroom downstairs had too long of a cue so I headed for the stairs in the entryway. Was someone turning up the music again or was it just the sound echoing in my head? I held onto the railing, but my legs were starting to feel heavier with each step. I had just managed to reach the landing, I wasn’t sure which door led to the bathroom, so I ambled to the closest door, it was a bedroom. A double bed in the center surrounded by deep blue wallpaper. It felt as though I was in the ocean somewhere, drifting away.
The bed frame was not giving me much support, I lowered myself to the ground, there was a small thud as I hid the wooden panels. I don’t think I let out a sound but before I knew it someone was rushing into the room.
“Y/n what’s going on?” the voice asked, I looked up but my sight was hazy, “Y/n?” the voice repeated, it was Steven taking a few careful steps towards me.
“It’s nothing, I’m fine just a little tired, I think I overheated a little downstairs I should have been drinking more water,” I said attempting to shoo him away with my hands, but in reality, I didn’t want him to leave, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get up without him.
“Y/n you’ve been off all summer so cut the bullshit, since when do we lie to each other?” he asked coming closer, his honestly sounded sober.
“My,” I start and feel something bubbling within me, I cried for an hour when I was diagnosed again, then I told myself I wasn’t allowed to again until after summer, I was allowed to be happy and excited for the summer without thinking about- “My cancers back Steven, and I-”
“I’m sorry you what?” Steven asked cutting me off, as if an animated character his jaw actually dropped, he was kneeling next to me in seconds, pulling me into a hug. I shut my eyes wishing that I had left earlier or taken a night off and rested like mom had suggested, “Conrad! Get in here,” Steven shouted repeatedly brushing a hand through my hair.
“What? Y/n? What happened? Steven what happened?” Conrad asked manically flinging himself to meet his body to mine, “Are you okay?” He asked again as he got no answer to his first lot of questions. He brushed his hand down my arm.
“I’m so sorry,” I let out with a sob, shaking my head from side to side, I saw Belly run in confused with Jeremiah behind her. Others seemed to be crowding at the door but Jere quickly shut it firmly, announcing “Nothing to see here! Go grab some alcohol and make out or whatever,” before turning his attention back to me.
Now this was truly my worst nightmare, they were all looking at me, apart from Steven who had curled up and looked at the floor next to me.
“I’m sorry that I ruined our last summer together,” I said
“Y/n what are you talking about, what happened?” Belly asked brushing some hair out of my face.
“It’s back and I- I don’t think it’ll go away this time,” I whisper as if saying it out loud would mean that it was true, that I was hurting everyone around me once again.
“What’s back?” Jere asks nonchalantly at first before a realization hits him “You don’t mean-” at this Belly burst into a wail.
I looked up at Conrad, he was just staring at me, I couldn’t read his reaction at all. I brushed my hands up and down his arms, it was as if he was frozen it time. I needed him to say something, just that action was wearing me out.
“Come on let’s get you home,” Jere said, his eyes red, he was trying to be a voice of reason, be the one who doesn’t break down so he can support the rest of us. When had he become this grown up? “This isn’t a place for a conversation like this,”.
I can’t quite place what emotion was flowing through me as I was basically carried out of the house with one arm around Con the other around Steven. The whole thing seemed in slow motion to me, all the faces in the crowd of my friends and drunk strangers. How many of them realize what’s actually happening and how many of them simply thought I’d gotten hysterically drunk?
The ride back to my house was quiet other than Belly’s phone call to my mom and then Susannah and Laurel letting them know where they were all going. I was ushered into bed by mom and listened to the heartbroken whispers downstairs in the living room under my bedroom.
Mom and Belly were crying, and dad was trying to calm them down. Conrad was adamant to stay with me whilst dad offered to drive everyone else home as they’d all been drinking. When the front door shut, I heard the footsteps that shuffled upstairs.
“Connie,” I said as he walked into my room, his expression filled with sorrow and with the limited lighting of my bedside lamp I could swear he too had tears rolling from his eyes and down his beautiful face.
“You’re okay, you’re going to get better,” he said repeating in quiet whispers, whether he was trying to convince me or himself I was not sure but I let him. I pulled up my duvet and moved slightly to give him space.
He touched my hair, my face, my arms gliding his fingers as if I was made of porcelain. The first time I was diagnosed and fighting cancer I was 10 and whilst everyone was gentle with me then now it felt like a different kind of touch. A mixture of so much love and pain that I would do- give anything to make him better.
“I love you, so so much,” I whispered, pulling one of his arms around me, I wanted to feel him, all of him here in this house, our summer place. I was surprised he hadn’t run, when Con got overwhelmed he always ran, hiding was his protection. If I did anything in my life, helping Connie learn a better way to cope, or to start to was the best thing that I did.
“Don’t say it like that,” he whispered back, his eyes were closed tight shut.
“Like what?” I asked cautiously, somehow, I knew what he was going to say, I brushed my fingers through his soft hair, his pre-summer haircut was always my favorite. It wasn’t too long, not too short, just enough to outline his face and perfectly highlight his eyes.
“Like it’s one of the last times you’ll ever say it,” his voice cracked and I kept running my fingers through his locks, soothing him. It’s funny how I’m the one who this has happened to yet I’m the one who’s been reassuring everyone that everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was because I’d lived enough to know what the purest of happiness was and that I’d experienced honest love even though some never do.
“I love you. I love you. I love you,” I kept repeating as if I was counting stars up in the sky or the little sheep jumping over the fence in hopes of falling asleep. I’d said it so much my mouth had started running dry but if that was the price for having this boy, this kind, loving boy in my arms until my end I’d pay it over and over and more.
Unfortunately, the underlying sour mood was carried into the next morning, when I woke up to the glimpse of summer that danced in through the half open curtain Conrad was still asleep. He usually looked peaceful when he slept but this morning even in his most fragile states his brows were creased and his breathing was heavy and uneven. I watched him, when we get back to Boston nothing will ever be the same, and we only have a week left here in Cousins.
I untangled from his arms. I tended to have more strength in the morning but today I gripped onto the white wooden rail as I ambled downstairs and into the kitchen. Walking past the living room I noticed figures asleep on the couch. I smiled to myself when I saw Jeremiah and the Conklin siblings, they never left last night.
The clock hit seven when I walked into the kitchen, mom sat there with her kindle in hand, cup of coffee in front of her, but she stared unfocused at the device The lines under her eyes were darker than last night, she looked exhausted. Dad was at the kitchen counter prepping some eggs, bacon and sausages, the good old English Breakfast. He too looked as though he hadn’t slept.
“Morning sweetheart,” mom said looking up, her whole expression changed from worry to love, and though she tried to hide it the worry was still there, rooted deeply in her skin. I took a step towards her and she rushed out of her chair to grab me into a tight embrace.
A thousand things I wanted to say sat there pooling in my head because I simply couldn’t get them out.
“Your dad went out last night to get some more breakfast supplies, we’re feeding some unexpected- but most welcome mouths this morning,” she conveyed and I just nodded, my head resting in her neck, “I’ve called Princeton this morning and explained the situation, they said depending on how long the treatment is going to take they may move your enrollment to next year just so you don’t fall too far behind,” mom explained and I watched my dad’s feet shuffle towards us. College was the last thing on my mind, everyone here was.
“We also called the hospital and they’ve decided to start your sessions earlier,” dad said, this forced me to pull back.
“What do you mean?” I asked frantically, “We’ve had the date set for the day after we get back! How can I start my treatment earlier if we’ll still be here?” I questioned.
“We’ll be heading back to Boston tomorrow Y/n” mom conveyed, I took another step back. No! I needed this last week here with these people.
“But we agreed-” I tried to reason, to argue.
“I know sweetheart, but your health is more important to us, the doctors were already weary of letting you have the whole summer here anyway,” dad leaned against the kitchen counter with one hand and the other travelled to his forehead, an attempt to brush the physical signs of fear and worry away.
“We’re your parents Y/n, we just want what’s best,” mom reassured, and I knew they were right, they usually tended to be but that didn’t mean I had to be happy about it.
“The moms have organized a day full of fun and the celebratory barbeque dinner tonight,” Belly, who was now leaning against the doorframe between the living room and the kitchen, said.
“We’re all leaving tomorrow Y/n, we’re going to be there with you every step of the way,” Jeremiah said, his stunning ocean eyes expressing the purest admiration, his one hand was around Belly’s waist. A side of my mouth twisted up in a sly smile. I had predicted this years ago, Con owed me fifty bucks now.
“Oh my- come here the both of you right now,” I demanded, I took a few steps towards them but they did most of the work.
“I want in too!” Steven, voice all groggy and half asleep, demanded as he jogged towards us. We stood there hugging for longer than we ever have, it was nice and warm.
We all sat around the table playing a round of uno as dad started to make breakfast, mom offered to help to give us the space, she knew we got far too competitive when it came to this game.
I had two cards left, the least out of all when Jeremiah spoke up from next to me, “Connie isn’t taking it well, he went outside at around three in the morning and he just sobbed, I thought you needed to know” his eyes with sympathetic and glossed over.
“I just don’t want him to shut everyone out now,” I said knowing that the boy had a thing for bottling up his emotions until they finally explode. He stayed last night but who knew which was his mood would sway today.
“He’s going to be around, he’ll be here for you, we all will,” Jeremiah reassured.
The day went by faster than anyone wanted, Conrad came down perfectly in time for breakfast, he pulled a chair to sit next to me. Just like his usual self he wanted to be near me, touching me at all times, whether it was his shoulder brushing mine, a hand on thigh or his head on my shoulder. After breakfast we when back to Susannah’s house and sat on their private stretch of beach. Then we competed in a murder mystery game that us kids created when we were twelve. It was actually pretty intriguing even for the moms and dad.
“I can’t believe you kept stored away for six years mom,” Jere said to which Susannah replied with a knowing motherly smile and pulled another clue card.
Then we went to the pier, had ice cream and I absolutely crushed everyone at the arcade games winning most of the challenges, the great showdown occurred yet again even though Laurel banned it all those years ago. Then we headed back for dinner at the beach house, Jere and Steven operated the grill, we all sat around talking and I managed enough energy to play a quick round of water polo in the newly upgraded heated pool.
Through the whole day Conrad was never more than a few feet away from me. He managed to upkeep a smile most of the time, but when he thought I couldn’t see it faltered. I always knew he was a good one.
At around eleven mom and dad headed back home whilst the rest of us cuddled up on the couches to watch some romcom on Netflix. About halfway through Belly decided she wanted popcorn, so we took a pause and Susannah said she wanted to brush my hair. She loved doing both mine and Belly’s hair, we were her honorary daughters so of course I let her. One of the many things I love about her is that no matter the weather, or what was going on she was a ray of sunshine. I don’t mean that she was always happy, but she always held out hope and guided everyone to the other side of any storm cloud.
After the movie had finished and we got a good hour into the titanic most of us were dozing off, Susannah started shooing everyone off to bed. She too went upstairs leaving Conrad and I sat on the sofa. I looked at him as soon as the whole floor was clear. My eyes asked the quiet question, begged the questions.
“Are you sure? Do you feel like you have enough strength?” he asked, and I smiled, my brain scanned through images of this boy as we grew up, side by side and through all of it he stayed true just like his mom.
“What have we been doing for the past four hours if not sitting and laying around?” I asked lifting my brows in a giggle.
He shook his head slightly and half a smirk managed to make it onto his face, “It’s been a long busy day, that’s all I’m saying,” he defended himself.
“I know, but I’m fine I promise, let’s go!” I encouraged lifting from the couch and pulling him up by his arm. It didn’t take much convincing, when he stood, he gave me a long, slow kiss before resting his arm around my shoulder. We fit together perfectly like two pieces of a puzzle finally put together.
We walked down the sandy path towards their private part of the beach, nudging each other and giggling just like the night Conrad first kissed me, just like the night he had asked me to be his girlfriend. Most, if not all our important milestones happened here at the beach house.
“Do you know what?” He asked breaking the silence, even just the sound of his voice was enough to press my body and mind into total peace but also force my heart to beat at an ungodly speed, still after being together for two and a half years.
“What?”
“One day, the day we get married, I’ll scoop you up like this,” he pauses turning to me, I look at him confused for a second as he coddles me in his arms like a princess, I let out a giggle, “and I’ll carry you into this house,” he pointed to the summer house, “then I’ll carry you out back and all the way to the beach and kiss you until the sun goes down and the moon hangs up high in the sky like tonight and never let you go,” he whispered into my ear as we neared the beach.
“Connie,” I began but he shushed me
“I know, I know you don’t like planning that far ahead, but this is non-negotiable, you said we’re allowed one non-negotiable each. You have yours and I have mine,” he said in a manner of fact way, I just laughed and leaned up to kiss him.
“You do know, I know that was all a ruse so that I didn’t have to walk,” I said and he just smiled, “You’re amazing and I love you but please put me down,” I asked, not because I didn’t love to be treated like a princess but because I felt good and I wanted to experience this with him in the way it’s always meant to be.
When we got onto the open part of the beach it was much windier, Con took off his coat leaving him in his jumper and wrapped it around my arms. We listened to the song of the water and watched the waves.
“I can’t believe how lucky I am,” he announced into the night, he’s sat half leaning on his legs.
“Why’s that?” I asked, there were so many things both of us had to be thankful for.
“That I met you, that I have you, that you chose me and let me hold and love you, I think I’m the luckiest man on the planet,” he says, his gaze drifting to the stars above us. Not a single cloud in the sky tonight.
“Do you know what I think is lucky?” I asked laying my head on his shoulder, my eyes getting tired now.
He finally turns to me and smiles, “What?”
“That we both live in Boston,” I said and he shook his head, clearly not what he was expecting. But it was true, our grandparents met at the Cousin’s country club years ago, our grandmothers were friends which then meant our moms were friends, they went to collage together, it was both of their dreams to live in Boston so they moved out there together not expecting to both live in that city for so long but I was so thankful they did because that meant that I got the Fisher boys and Susannah all year round.
It was around the time that we could see the first shades of yellow and orange of the sun that we decided to head back, his sheets were cold but his arms around me were more than enough to keep me warm in the breezy summer night.
The next day mom and dad came round for breakfast, it was a feast ranging from cereal and toast to pancakes with fresh fruits and muffins which Jere and Belly had gone for a morning run for. Just as fast as the breakfast had disappeared, we were all packing up and getting ready to leave.
As I watched the scenery leaving Cousins, I felt guilty that everyone was cutting their trip short, no matter how much they tried to reassure me that it was okay and that they didn’t mind. Still Laurel, Belly and Steven had agreed to say in Susannah’s house in Boston for the week which meant we still got to have that time together before everything went back into motion in September.

It was a week after the Conklin’s left that I was told I would be better off shaving off my hair now with it being earlier in the process in order to avoid more emotional highs later on which could affect the medication.
I’d agreed on the terms that Susannah would be the one to do it, together we supported and acted for a hair donation charity which turned hair into wigs for children with cancer, so that’s exactly where my hair was headed.
It was a Friday night, which is always Pizza night, whether ordered in or homemade, one week at our house one week at the Fisher’s. It was that night that I was going to shave all the hair off, the thought wasn’t as scary as I remember it being from the first time around, but I would miss it.
I sit with a towel around my shoulders looking at myself in the mirror of the master bathroom, the boys were both sat in there with my mom, Belly was facetiming us and Susannah stood behind me with the scissors, this was harder for her than for me.
Mom held my hand and dad stood in the doorway with a tight smile. Susannah had braided my hair into two braids and after a nervous laughter and whispering ‘I love you’ she cut the first one, the snip of the scissors was loud in my ears as she worked through the thick of one braid. A breath escaped my lips and quickly enough we were on the second braid. Now Conrad held onto my other hand, the corners of his eyes creasing. And then the other was gone too.
In a way it felt like a weight was lifted off me, I mean it literally had been, my head felt lighter, and I was left with uneven scraps all over my head.
“Hey I dig the short hair!” Jeremiah says hand extended to fist bump me, I felt obliged saying, “Now we know I could steal your hairstyle and still be cooler than you,” I remarked and he pulled a smirk.
“Listen up Y/n/n at least my cut isn’t so uneven,” he laughs
“Well, mine’s about to be more smooth than yours, what you gonna do?” I play intimidated as mom placed my braids into the zip lock bag ready to be posted.
“Some little girl or boy is going to be really happy when they receive that hair you know that Y/n” Susannah said squeezing my shoulders after plugging in the razor. This time I closed my eyes and squeezed Connie’s hand tighter.
When half my head was done, I felt a bit of a breeze but I didn’t want to open my eyes yet, I’ve said many times that hair wasn’t a determining factor in my life but at the end of the day it was a part of me.
“All done,” Susannah said and I could hear a fragile smile in her words, I nodded with my own smile.
Then after a second the sound of the razor when off again and my eyes shot open, before I could stop it I saw Connie’s soft, brown hair falling from his head. He has run a strip right in the middle of his hair.
I leaped out of the stool. But it was too fast, everything around me started spinning slightly and my knees had gone weak. I grabbed the counter in front of me and both mom and Jeremiah leaned forward for support.
“I’m okay,” I say after a second, I closed my eyes and steadied myself, what was actually a matter of a minute felt like hours, but then I was stood again with another reminder: slow.
“Connie what were you thinking?” I asked incredulously and he was just shaking his head smiling, a glimpse of tears in his eyes.
“I’m in this with you, I told you I would be here every step of the way and I will,” he stood right in front of me, his deep blue eyes staring right into my soul, how had I been so lucky to have been granted the love of this boy and everyone else in this room. I pulled him into a tight embrace, retaining his warmth, his touch.
Jere jerked taking the turned off razor out of his brother’s hand and worked it through his own hair. This time everyone gasped, Jeremiah loved his hair.
“Never have I ever thought I’d see that happen. Jere, you obsess over your hair, you love it!” Belly expressed through the phone, now Steven was leaning over her shoulder.
“Yo- you lot are brave!” he exclaimed with laughter; this was how he processed grief. He made jokes and laughed because otherwise it was much too bare, I didn’t blame him, in fact I found it comforting.
“I love my hair but you mean much more Y/n” Jere announced turning back to me and I couldn’t help but let the tears roll down my face now, pulling Jere to join the hug. He will be exactly the one for Belly, he’ll treat her well. I was sure of it.
Now it was my turn to sit on the edge of the tub, Susannah’s arm around me as we watched both her boys get their heads shaved by my mom.
“Well now we’re all gonna look like weirdos every time we leave the house,” I laughed looking at dad.
“And we’re gonna look like some cult parents who forced their kids to shave their heads,” he added back laughing
“I mean we could shave yours too David,” Susannah added, “Then we’ll confuse the narrative,”
“Only if your hair is next,” he challenged and I squeezed Suze’s hand, I would never let anyone come near her beautiful, golden hair.
“I think we’ve shaved enough heads for one day,” mom announces pulling the razor momentarily from Jere’s head, “Remember we have that dinner reservation in like two hours and I’d like to get changed from these sweats and t-shirt,” she goes back to Jere’s hair but before she’s able to make any progress she turns back around again, “Actually that’s a lie I could live in this outfit for the rest of my life I’m just not sure the people at the restaurant would appreciate it,” she says and every in the room laughs.

The hospital room I’d been in for the past week and a half has become a familiar sight, considering that I’ve only left it to go to other similar looking rooms in the hospital. I look at the clock, its five in the afternoon, I must have fallen asleep again. The November chill was visible outside by the frost on the other side of the glass.
On the other side of the room behind the wall I hear mom talking to someone, dad has gone to work for the day, they’ve started switching days, so I can only guess it’s Susannah or the boys.
“It’s been getting worse,” her voice quivers and a part of me wishes I could mute her out, still be asleep. I know the truth, a part of me has known it since I found out the cancer came back those couple of weeks before we departed for Cousins that summer, I wasn’t going to get better.
“There must be something they can do,” another voice said, this time my body hauled me up a little. Conrad. I’ve been letting him visit me, he wanted to be here all the time but I asked Susannah to pace him. He was here this morning. It was meant to be one visit a day.
I know that makes me sound horrible, and it makes my own heart shatter piece by piece but it wasn’t because I didn’t love him or because I didn’t want him to be here. I knew there would be a time where he would have to move on, life would continue and he has such a bright future ahead of him, so many people to meet and experiences to be had. In my head if the distancing started now maybe it would be easier for him, even still the image of him with any other girl made me feel sick.
“Is she awake?” Is what I hear when I break out of thought.
“She wasn’t when I left to get changed and grab some food, but it’s been a couple of hours so she should be waking up soon if you want to go in,” mom said and I silently battled with the thought of pretending to still be asleep.
Before I had the time to make the choice the door was opening and then Conrad’s and my eyes met and he was coming to sit next to my bed, quickly pulling his hand into mine.
He bought a bag of games with him, we started with some card games, then snake and ladders, then four in a row and so on for a couple of hours. I was glad he came for the second time today.
“What?” He asked, I was staring at him but it wasn’t like he wasn’t staring back
“No nothing, just wondering how I managed to score such a hot boyfriend,” I say fanning myself with one hand, “And he’s a teddybear and sweetheart.” I added and watched him cringe at my words.
“I’m the one who should be asking how I managed to get a girlfriend as stunning and kindhearted as you,” he said but I just rolled my eyes. As much as we did this over the top thing as a joke we both knew we meant the words.
We talked and talked that night, he held my hand through it all. I didn’t realize how late it was but mom had come to sit in the corner of the room, she’d been having trouble sleeping recently but she’d managed to snooze off.
“I love you so much Connie, I’m thankful for you everyday, never ever change,” I whispered holding back a sob, he was half asleep on his chair next to my bed too.
“I love you too,” he said leaning up to kiss me gently. Then Connie and I whispered to each other until I too was fading away into sleep.

Conrad’s POV:
I never thought I’d be stood here, looking at all these people and her picture in front of a casket. I took that photo the day I asked her to be my girlfriend on Cousins beach, all her teeth were shining pearly white and her hair was blowing in the wind framing her face like a masterpiece statue or a goddess.
“I think you all know that Y/n meant more to me than anything and anyone in my life, alongside my family. We grew up with each other. We were there for each other in the good and bad times even before we were together romantically. She is- was- one of the most integral pieces of the puzzle of our lives. I think I can speak on behalf of our families,” I pause, tears rolling down my face, and a sob building up in my throat, “I don’t know how I will be able to go day by day without seeing her, hearing her voice and her passion. She inspired me more than anyone and I will love her until the day I die and even further into whatever comes after death, I will do everything in my power to make sure all her goals for the many charities and organizations are complete, I will build a new charity in her name, I will make sure she gets the remembrance she deserves, because- because more than anyone I know she deserved all happiness and love. She will be missed more than I could ever have the words to express” I finished and turned to the casket, “Please don’t leave me, come back to me,” I whispered.
There was more I wanted to say, I could speak about her for days and nights on end, about how wonderful and bubbly and kind she was and yet I couldn’t. These faces in the crowd, some knew her better than others but no one like our little families, Belly, Jere and Steven were all sat next to each other crying. Mom was holding her arms around Y/n’s mom and dad as they stared at me, thankful for my words.
I broke into tears too, leaning onto the stand in front of me for support. Mom rushed towards me now, holding me close and helping me down to the seats. There I sat numb, tears flowing as the pastor finished the ceremony after which we all filed out and watched her get lowered into her grave. It read ‘Y/n L/n. Daughter, friend, love. An inspiration to all’
I can’t believe it’s been two weeks since I was holding her hand the night she passed. Two weeks since I’ve lost my everything.

jealous conrad fisher? smut if you want, but it doesn't need to be
false god — conrad fisher
(gif made by @conradfiisher , all credits to the creator)
warnings: SMUT (18+, MINORS DNI), car sex, semi-public sex, unprotected sex, p in v, slightly praise kink (not mentioned but—), NOT PROOFREAD
you were outside at a college party and you were talking to some guy that approached you while you were waiting for your boyfriend to show up. you didn't know what was taking him so long, but you were starting to feel uncomfortable that the guy wouldn't stop looking at you up and down, even though you already mentioned that you had a boyfriend who you were waiting for.
disconnecting from the conversation for a few seconds, you pulled out your phone and texted conrad, your boyfriend, to let him know that that guy was bothering you and to hell him to hurry up. exactly then the guy wrapped his arm around your neck, pulling you towards his body and forcing you to look up from your phone to his face.
"are you texting your boyfriend?" he asked, grinning like a douchebag, leaning even closer to you, if that was even possible.
what was wrong with him? didn't he believe you that you had a boyfriend or did he take it as some kind of a sick challenge?
you tucked your hair behind your ear, putting your phone back in your pocket, wanting to take his arm off of you, but he held you close. "yeah," you said, shifting your weight from one leg to the other. "i actually am," you smiled politely, trying in vain to be nice to such a piece of shit.
"where is he?"
"he is right fucking here," conrad's voice spoke from behind you two and it made you let out the breath you hadn't even realized you'd been holding, your body relaxing a bit as the guy removed his arm off of you to turn around and look at your boyfriend. "that's my girl in case you didn't know,” he added and moved closer to you and placed his hand protectively on your waist.
the boy threw his hands in the air, pretending not to know anything about it, and you almost laughed in his face, while conrad held back himself from killing him.
he left, so it was just you with conrad, but his grip around your waist hadn't loosened. he was still stressed, you could feel it in his touch, but at the same time your mind was going elsewhere when you remembered how his fingers felt on his skin.
"what was all that about?" he asked you, continuing to look in the direction the guy had taken her, but you couldn't help but look at how good he looked. your mind didn't seem to work every time he would appear around you, mostly when he would touch you like that.
you shrugged, and that was the first time he had ever looked only in your direction, focusing now all of his attention on you. "i did told him that i have a boyfriend, but i guess he took it as a challenge."
conrad grinned and he pressed you against his body, continuing to keep his hand around your waist. "you're so stunning, i'm not surprised he dared to take a look at what's mine," he said, caressing your cheek with the thumb of his free hand as you locked your gaze on his.
he knew the effect his words had on him. he knew how to make you melt in his hands, how to make you a complete disaster under his touch.
"are you saying you're jealous?" you asked, looking at his lips, noticing how he laughed and you felt your whole body shake when he did it.
"i don't have reasons to be jealous when i know i'm the only one you think of," he said and his hand moved from your cheek to the chain around your neck that he had given you, tugging on it gently.
you longed for his kiss, for him. and he knew it, and that's why he was dragging it out as long as he could, until he would've lost his mind too. it wasn't easy at all for him to look at you and not kiss you, but it was worth teasing you a little bit.
both of his hands moved down to your ass, on top of the material of your dress, pinning you against his body, and kissing your neck, making you rest your head on his shoulder and letting out a weak whimper right next to his ear.
his teasing was already becoming his torture because he couldn't afford doing more than this to you in public, so he whispered in your ear. "do you want to take this to my car?"
you nodded, feeling how he wanted you too because of the approaching between your bodies. "yes, please," you said and he grinned into your hair, staying a little longer in the moment and after that, he rushed to the car, pulling you by your hand after him.
you awkwardly chuckled behind him. it was kind of funny how needy you both were when it came to the other, how easily you would've ignite for one another.
when you two got to the car, the both of you stopped and looked at each other. conrad was unsure of his next move, and he just kept caressing your hand that he was still holding, looking at you as if he could see through you, even though it was actually dark where his car was parked. "soo," he said, exaggerating the last letter. "how will it go?"
you grinned at him, and he felt the ground slipping from under his feet, as you opened the driver's door, motioning for him to climb in first. he looked at you confused for a second, but your grin wouldn't go away, so he eventually caught on your idea, so he climbed in, pushing his chair all the way back and reaching his hand out to you.
you accepted his hand and sat yourself carefully with your thighs on either side of his lap as you closed the door immediately behind you.
you leaned into him, your chest pressing against his, and you kissed him, slowly, wanting to make him lose his mind like he did with you.
he placed one hand placed on your waist —and you let out a sound right then— and the other placed on your cheek, caressing it in circles. the ring on his thumb made such a lovely contact with the skin of your cheek and it made you lose yourself in the kiss, at one point even slightly parting your lips, at which point he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss.
your tongues teasing each other, fighting for dominance, as the kiss only increased your desire even more.
he had been the first to break the kiss, his hand still on your cheek and his breathing heavy as he said, "i need to feel you."
and you felt the same need.
you agreed, bringing your foreheads together, just enough to try and steady your breathing as you felt yourself starting to get even wetter at those words, and feeling him hard right under your ass.
because you were wearing a dress, you only had to deal with his clothes, so you slipped your hands between your bodies to undo his pants. feeling a little freer, conrad made a faint sound of relief, and he moved his hips a little higher —making your front sliding right against his erection, making you let out a soft sound as well—, to make your work easier.
once his jeans and his boxers were out of your way, you stood up a little, him helping you put your underwear aside, and when you laid back down on him. he buried himself inside of you, inch by inch, making you rest your head on his shoulder to mask the needy whimpers that escaped your lips.
he lifted your chin with two fingers, making you look into his green eyes that were burning into your skin, leaving his mark on you. “let me hear you,” he whispered, and then, seeing how you looked at him, he couldn't help but connect his lips with yours in another tender kiss.
his movements were full of desire, but also tender, moving somewhat slowly inside you as he kissed you like his life depended on it and as one hand of his massaged your clit.
you were grinding on top of him, putting your hands on either side of his neck as he helped you, holding you by your waist with his free hand, lifting you up and down on him.
it felt so good, way too good, that you started moaning into the kiss, knowing how much he loved hearing you.
"you're doing such a good job," he whispered in your ear, taking a break from kissing your lips, and going to place kisses on your neck.
you dropped your head to the side to give him more access to your neck, arching your back, and you felt yourself tighten slightly around him.
"just like that," he groaned next to your ear, increasing the rhythm in which he massaged your clitoris, him wanting to bring you to your orgasm as quickly as possible, because himself also couldn't last much longer.
your hands slid from around his neck to his shoulders, you pulling him close to you as the knot in your stomach felt too tight, almost close to breaking free.
both of your breaths had become rushed once again. you could hear him next to your ear as you could even hear yourself. that rushed they were.
"i'm sure no one could've made you feel this good, right?" he asked you, feeling your walls tighten more around him.
you nodded, chasing after your orgasm and starting to kiss him under his near, on his neck, on his jaw.
his jaw clenched, struggling to hold himself back a little longer, even if his movements had become sloppy. "tell me, do you think that douchebag would've made you feel this good?"
you couldn't believe what you were hearing, but still, his jealousy had just been what made you let go.
unable to hold on even longer, as he felt the release wash over you, and your breathing slowly beginning to ease against his neck, conrad let go as well, his release filling you as a little bit of it was leaking down your inner thighs.
with him still inside you and you on his shoulder, your breathing had calmed down, but you hadn't forgotten what he said exactly before you finished, so you looked up to look at his eyes.
"you said you're not jealous,” you said amused.
he looked at you with his lips parted and his short front hair catching in his eyes. "well, i'm not."
you moved a little on top of him, as he whimpered and you shivered, so you can put your hands around his neck and get a better look at him. "and then what was that before?"
“i don't know what you're talking about,” he wrapped his arms around your waist.
“you do,” you said with a grin on the corner of your mouth. “ too well” you added, as you leaned over him to capture his lips into another kiss.

Could i get a conrad x reader smut where they are in a secret relationship/fwb and at the end maybe admit they like each other or start dating?
tangled up with you | c.fisher x reader
a/n: ahh i had such a good time writing this one for you! thank you so much for the request love <3
warnings: SMUT (minors DNI!), unprotected sex (wrap it before you tap it!!), swearing, mentions of weed usage.
—
sneaking around with my best friend’s older brother made life so exhilarating, maybe because of the risk tied to it. i know that if jeremiah were to find out about conrad and my secret relationship that’s been going on for the past eight months, there’s the possibility of losing my best friend.
according to jeremiah, conrad and steven were not allowed to date or hook up with me. i was off limits. i was jeremiah’s best friend since the second grade and the last thing he ever wanted was for things to get complicated with his brothers (steven is basically another brother to him) having a relationship with me.
but feelings are feelings, they can only be suppressed for so long before moves are made.
and maybe the incredible sex tied to conrad fisher sways that statement.
i look out my bedroom window to see the jeep park on the side of the road. the silhouette of the golden haired fisher brother bobbing his head to the music. i giggle before turning to my vanity mirror to check myself out for the last time.
i fixed up my hair, touched up my mascara and lip gloss before spritzing myself with my signature perfume. i grab my phone that sat on my bed before scurrying down the stairs and yelling to my parents that i’m heading out.
i slide my vans on as i make my way over to conrad’s car. i open the door and he’s already smiling at me,
“hey pretty lady,” he winks, making me flush pink.
“hey handsome,” i say back as i settle into my seat, he cradles my face before pulling me into a long kiss. something we’ve both been craving for after pretending for the whole day around steven, belly, and jeremiah that we were, of course, only friends.
his lips tasted like mint and his chapstick, i smile into the kiss and i feel his lips turn upwards in response.
“you ready?” he asks after pulling away, i nod excitedly.
conrad always takes me to new places around cousins, we typically sit on the roof of the car and talk endlessly for hours into the night. sometimes we will smoke a j together, often making out and touching each other in places that isn’t normal for friends to touch.
the weeknd hums quietly as we drive in the night, his large and vascular hand placed highly on my thigh. his long fingers slowly crawling up to my centre. i feel myself getting more excited when his hand is centimetres away from my core.
he pulls away which makes me pout while he puts the jeep into park and steps out the door. he comes to my side of the car and opens my door, he offers his hand as i step out.
conrad brought us to the lighthouse, where waves crashed upon the large rocks and you can see the bright reflection of the moon and stars sparkling on the water. his muscular arms wrap around my waist from behind and we sway side to side, i’m taking in the beautiful sight.
he places gentle kisses on the back of my neck, and i tilt it to the side to give him better access. i can feel him smile at the action as he carefully sucks at the soft skin.
“this view is beautiful,” i tell him, turning around to put my arms around his neck,
“yeah?” he asks with a smirk, “well my view is better.”
his eyes flicker down me and back up to my eyes,
“you’re so cheesy”
“i love you, baby” he kisses me again,
i kiss him back passionately, my fingers getting tangled up in the locks of hair at the back of his head, “i love you so much more.”
so stands two teenagers, desperately in love, making out by the cousins lighthouse in the middle of the night. their hands running up and down the sides of each other before conrad pulls her back towards the car to continue their fun.
we both crawl into the back seat, he lays me down carefully across the three seats as he hovers over me. he removes his shirt in one motion before leaning down fo connect our lips again.
our teeth and lips are clashing as his tongue swipes across my bottom lip, i open my mouth to greet his tongue as it continues to explore.
his hand inches down my body, giving a soft squeeze to my boob before moving down to the edge of my cotton shorts. i sigh in pleasure as he slips his hand into my lacy thong, his fingers playing with the bundle of nerves that make me lift my hips up for more contact,
“please.” i beg him, arching my back as his lips kiss down my throat,
“relax, my love,” he mumbles against my skin, “i’ve got you.”
i moan out as two digits enter me, slowly but hardly thrusting into my centre, “fuck, you’re so wet.” he groans.
he continues to finger me for a few moments longer to prepare me,
“you ready?” he asks me and i nod, conrad kisses my lips again before pulling down my shorts and his own. his thick cock with veins running up it’s sides slaps his abdomen, released from the constrained boxers they were in.
my mouth basically drools at the sight. i’ve always knew that conrad fisher was handsome, but seeing him in the moonlight with his six pack and erected dick only made the wetness between my legs increase.
i watched intently as he lines himself up before sinking down into me, bottoming out. every vein and inch of his cock stretching me out in the best way possible. my head throws back at the feel of him inside of me as he thrusts deeply into me.
i moan loudly, grabbing the edge of the car seat and the head rest as i feel him nearly hitting my gut.
“fuck!” i cry out as he buries his face into my neck, increasing how hard he’s pounding into me. his hand grabs the back of my right thigh, pushing it to my chest to give himself a better angle to hit my sweet spot.
i bite into his shoulder, making him groan lowly as i feel his dick twitch inside of me. my hands are in a frenzy, clawing his back or pulling at his hair or anything to get him closer to me.
“you like that, baby” he moans as he continues to thrust his cock to my sweet spot that makes the knot in my stomach tighten. i nod quickly, “yes, holy fuck, you feel so good!”
“no matter how often i fuck you, your pussy is always tight for me,” conrad breathes out into my ear, “you feel so good around me, babe”
“m- maybe because your dick is so big,” i stutter out back to him, as i feel my orgasm coming closer.
“are you close?” he asks, “i feel your walls squeezing my cock.”
i moan out in response, unable to form words with the state of bliss im in. i cling onto his shoulders as my legs start to shake,
“fuck, i’m gonna come soon,” conrad groans, throwing his head back in pleasure, “where do you want it?”
“i- i’m” i try to speak, but my eyes keep rolling backwards, “i’m on the pill.”
he looks down at me with lust in his eyes, “are you sure?”
i nod, “fuck, conrad!”
he picks up the pace of his thrusts, now chasing his high. his hand reaches down to start rubbing figure eights on my clit to help me get my orgasm,
“come on my dick, baby” he tells me, “i know you can do it. i’m right behind you.”
“fuck, conrad!” i scream out, “i’m coming!”
“that’s it baby” he pants out
conrad litters my face with kisses as my toes flex upwards and my thighs are shaking. my back arches to his chest as i feel my orgasm crashing down on me all at once.
i release pornographic type moans and all i see is white as my nails claw down his back.
i feel him release inside of me, his warm coating my walls as he slowly thrusts me through my orgasm. he eventually pulls out and grabs a baby wipe that he stored under the driver to seat to clean me and himself up. conrad helps me put my clothes back on and kisses my shoulders while he pulls my t-shirt on.
we drive quietly back to my house where he kisses my goodnight before i exit the jeep. right as i open my front door i feel my phone buzz in my back pocket,
con <3:
goodnight my sweet girl, i hope you had as much fun as i did tonight! i love you so so much❤️
i blush at the text and turn around to the road where i see him blow a kiss in my direction. i pretend to catch it and place it on my heart before sending one back. i see a smile etch onto his face before driving off.
y/n <3:
i always have fun when i’m around you, sweet dream baby :) i love you!

dating conrad fisher would include
• conrad is the kind of boyfriend who cherishes the quiet moments. he loves sitting with you on the beach in silence, just enjoying the sound of the waves and the comfort of your presence.
• while conrad struggles with his own emotions, he’s incredibly supportive when it comes to yours. he might not always know what to say, but he’s there to listen, hold you, and make sure you know you’re not alone.
• conrad quite evidently has trouble verbally expressing his emotions, so he does everything he can to show you just how much he loves you.
• he remembers the little things about you, like making sure to get your favorite type of muffins when he goes on his morning muffin runs.
• conrad isn’t overly flashy, but he’s thoughtful. you often find little notes in your books or your favorite snacks in your bag, left by him without a word. he knows what you love and makes sure to show it in small, meaningful ways.
• he's always touching you in some way, whether it’s resting a hand on your thigh while you sit together or holding your hand the moment you leave the house. he insists it’s so you don’t get lost in the crowd, but really, he just enjoys having you close to him.
• conrad is an avid reader, so he loves sharing books with you. he'll lend you his favorite novels, and it becomes a way for the two of you to connect on a deeper level.
• the two of you constantly exchange your favorite books and he enjoys getting to read the little notes that you make in the margins. it’s like a little window into your inner thoughts. he loves it.
• you definitely have an elaborate dance to a specific song that the both of you have learned and would do whenever you heard the song.
• susannah would purposely put the song on and beg the two of you to do the dance because she can’t get enough of the way he smiles as he spins you around.
• HIM LEARNING TO PLAY YOUR FAVORITE SONG ON THE GUITAR>>>
• he likes to listen to your favorite artist when he misses you because it reminds him of you, and that brings him comfort.
• conrad likes to create personalized playlists just for you. each song is carefully chosen to reflect your relationship. it's his way of expressing his feelings when words fall short.
• being by the ocean is conrad’s comfort zone, so many of your dates happen at the beach. whether it’s early morning walks, sunset picnics, or late-night swims, the beach is your special place together.
• he also loves going on late-night drives with you. with no destination in mind, you both just drive around, listening to music, talking, or enjoying the peaceful silence of the night.
• conrad isn’t overly expressive with his affection in public, but in private, he’s incredibly gentle and loving. soft kisses on your forehead, his arm casually draped over your shoulders, and holding your hand as you fall asleep are some of his favorite ways to show he cares.
• sometimes, the two of you don’t need to say anything to understand each other. you can read his mood by the way he looks at you, the way his voice sounds, and even his body language.
• there’s an unspoken connection between you two— a look, a touch, or simply being in each other’s presence is enough to communicate everything you need to know.
• conrad likes starting the day with a coffee run, and it becomes a small tradition for the two of you. whether it’s picking up coffee and pastries from a local shop or brewing it at home, it’s a simple way to start the day together.
• he’s a sucker for those quiet moments in the morning when no one’s up yet and it’s just the two of you. <33

pov: you spent your childhood summers in cousins, living next door to conrad, jeremiah, steven and belly. summer was sand in your hair, sunscreen on your skin, ocean salt on your lips. summer was sunrises on the beach, laughter echoing into a starlit sky and the glow of a bonfire keeping you and your friends warm. everything's different now. you've all grown up, but the magic of cousins doesn't fade away.
(also you're in love with conrad fisher but you're both too stubborn to admit it)
based on SUPERCUT, my conrad fisher series

summer is with you - j.fisher
part one (a glimpse of summer) - but can be read on its own!
masterlist
pairings: Jeremiah fisher x reader
warnings: fluff
a/n: THERE ARE NO SPOILERS OF SZN2 OR BOOK 2!!!
the door to your bedroom creaks open, you can hear him shushing the old hinges for their squeakiness.
you feel the mattress dip and can smell his shampoo, the smell makes a smile form to your lips as your eyes flutter open to see him staring at you. you could get used to waking up to his beautiful blue eyes.
“good morning.” he whispers gently placing a kiss to your forehead that makes your nose scrunch. you mumble the words back and flip over onto your other side for more sleep. usually you’re up and at ‘em, but summer time is meant for relaxing and taking each day one at a time. you’d have enough Jeremiah for three months.
“what are you doing today?” he asks nuzzling his head into the crook of your neck, you can feel his caramel colored curls tickling your skin making your body’s ticklish reflex kick in and kick his shin.
“trying to sleep.” you mumble shoving your face into your pillow.
“I have work in an hour, will you wake up for me?”he peppers, whatever part of your face is visible to him, with kisses before he finally leaves your bedroom.
the same hinges squeak yet again, but this time he doesn’t shush them, he just allows them to wake you up, and if that wasn’t enough Conrad’s stomping feet up the stairs certainly did.
“morning!” he calls into your bedroom completely ignoring that you hadn’t even risen out of bed, but the commotion of a summer morning certainly does.
—
salty hair, golden tan lines, a good book, and frozen lemonade are your company at the beach until Jeremiah’s shift was over. you lay sprawled across your towel listening to the seagulls and the ocean waves crash against the sand while reading.
any minute now you knew you would hear the clap of his flip flops against the sand, you can feel the excitement bubble in your stomach.
“y/n!” you hear him call as he runs against the thick sand, his flip flops kick sand every which way until he finally collapses against the edge of your towel. he’s wearing his red swim trunks from lifeguarding, and was throwing off the tank top they made him wear.
“hi,” you smile up from your book deciding it was no longer important. the beautiful smile and tan skinned boy in front of you was much more exciting than words on a page, “how was work?”
“boring, per usual.”
he takes the chance to kiss your chapped lips, and it’s like he’d been waiting to do it all day. the passion and desire behind it, made you melt as you reciprocate the same energy. his hand tugs on a strand of knotted hair from the waves, your mouth opens in response allowing his tongue to slip inside your mouth. he’d waited hours to kiss you.
“what’s all this for?” you pull away placing your hand on his visibly rising chest. his smile widens allowing you to see his pearly white teeth as he just shrugs, “can a guy miss his girlfriend?”
you nod pressing a gentle kiss to his lips before collapsing back against the sand, “just lay with me, jere.” you open your arms up and he doesn’t take a second to think before resting his head against your chest.
“I could spend all day here with you.” he sighs settling his body against yours. your legs naturally intertwine with one another, his fingers rake through your hair.
“cousins and you are my favorite.” you say with a long happy sigh as you close your eyes. you listen to his breathing pattern, the seagulls chattering, and the sound of the ocean. you could lose track of time here, and somehow you always do, because august always comes so soon.
“you’ll always be my favorite part of cousins, y/n.”

The Stars That Shine
Summary: could you do something w conrad based off of mary’s song oh my my my by taylor swift 🥺
Author’s Note: Im so sorry I struggled so much writing this but I hope you love it and it’s what you were hoping for <3
It was like there was just something between you and Conrad that everyone else could see even when you couldn’t. You’d grown up in the house next to his in Cousins and so, every summer without fail, you spent every waking moment with him. It was like summer started so nothing else mattered. He was two years older than you and for the majority of your life he’d made that abundantly clear - he treated you like a little girl in comparison to him. He saw you in the same way he saw Jere, younger than him and so someone he had to be responsible for.
When you were 8, he threw you into the pool and then fought you when you tried to get back at him for it. You’d slipped on the concrete and cut your knee, and Susannah had told him he was too big to be fighting you. He’d patched you up with a plaster over the cut and bought you an ice cream from the van when it came past.
When you were 10, he punched a boy that jumped the queue in front of you over at the boardwalk. You’d been queuing to use the karts, and a boy had treated you like you were invisible. Conrad grabbed your arm and pulled you behind him, turning the guy around and clocking him in the jaw. He bruised his knuckles and you bought him fries from the stall to make up for it. You remembered it every time you ended up back at that boardwalk.
When you were 12, he got dared to kiss you one night when the group of you were all camping out at the beach. He refused at first and both of you forgot about it. But, later that night, he’d stopped you on the sand and told you that he never backed down from a dare. You ran away before he had the chance. Neither of you mentioned it after that day.
When you were 14, you realised for the first time that you liked him. He was getting ready for a date and you watched him fix his hair in the mirror, the pain settling on your chest that it wasn’t you he’d be with. He’d told you to wish him luck and you couldn’t find a word to respond with. A few hours later, Conrad had returned and told you dating wasn’t for him, he’d shook hands with you that he’d never go on a first date again. You’d laughed and taken the bet, hoping to God for just a moment that the next one would be with you.
When you turned 16, it was like Conrad saw you completely differently. You turned up in Cousins that summer and he saw you as a whole new person. He’d looked at you on the driveway like he was looking at a stranger, until his hand stretched out and he ruffled your hair on your head. You blushed under his touch and prayed he didn’t notice.
But there was just something so different about that summer. You felt Conrad’s eyes on you whenever he had the chance, the way he listened in to what you said just a little more intensely, the way he defended you when the boys started being dicks. The little things that just didn’t feel the same as they normally did.
It was that same summer that Conrad first took you out in his truck. His father had bought it for him for Christmas and got Jere one too - now that both of them could drive. Conrad had always complained that he’d have to wait for Jeremiah but it didn’t seem to matter now that he had his car. It started with just little trips to the store, spending a little longer with each other browsing through the aisles before he took the long way home. And then one night, when you couldn’t sleep, it felt like everything changed.
———
You made your way slowly downstairs, breezing past your parents’ room where they both slept soundly. With no real reason why, you just couldn’t sleep tonight. And there was only so long you could lay in bed waiting for sleep to take you.
You slip on a hoodie over your bralette and shorts and grab a pair of flip flops, heading out of the back door and into the yard. It was so much more peaceful at night. You’d sleep out here if you could.
It was rare you spent much time at home in this place, however. All of your best memories were made in the house next door - Susannah was the hostess and your parents always accepted that. You walk down the length of the garden alongside the hedged fence joins the two yards, your eyes flicking into their side.
That’s when you see him. Illuminated by the lights in the water, seemingly giving him an eerie glow, his legs drifting back and forth under the surface from where he sat at the edge of the pool.
“Con?” You hiss into the silent air and he instantly bolts his head up to look at where the noise has come from.
He smiles when he sees you, standing up from the poolside and wiping his hands on his shorts, “Are you stalking me (Y/l/n)?”
“Don’t flatter yourself Fisher,” You roll your eyes, wrapping your arms around yourself.
He smirks and makes his way over to you until you’re both stood in front of each other, separated by the short hedge between you.
“Why are you awake?”
Conrad shrugs, “I never sleep early.”
You nod, “I can’t sleep.”
You feel the way his eyes watch you, the way they seem to melt into your skin. The way you seem to heat up just a little under his gaze.
“Do you want to go somewhere?”
“Now? Con it’s like 1am,” You frown, glancing back up to him.
He shrugs, “Do you have anything better to do?”
And so, he disappears back into his house and you take the alleyway at the side of yours, waiting for him out the front against the passenger door of his car.
Only moments later, he steps outside, swinging his keys around one finger as he makes his way over to you. You both clamber in and he drives off without another word.
You look out of the passenger window at the passing cars and don’t notice the way he watches you. The way his eyes are on you as if they can’t be torn away. Conrad wasn’t exactly sure when things had changed - or if they’d ever changed at all. He just knew that he saw you now and saw someone he couldn’t be without. Like someone had made him see you in a completely different light. Had he always felt like this and only now realised?
“Have you seen the-“ You turn your head back around and notice his eyes solely on you, feeling a blush burn at your cheeks, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I just-“ He stops himself.
“Focus on the road Fisher,” You roll your eyes, drawing your knees up to your chest on the chair.
“That’s my sweatshirt,” He points out, turning another corner as the two of you drive down another country lane.
Eventually, he parks the car up on the hills overlooking the town, both of you still sat in the front seats staring out over the dark view.
“So why couldn’t you sleep?” Conrad asks you, leaning his head back against the headrest.
You shrug, “I don’t know. Just stuff on my mind I guess.”
He nods, “Go on.”
“Do you-“ You stop yourself, shifting in your seat so that you’re sat sideways, facing him directly, “Do you feel like… I don’t know, like this summer has been different than before?”
You watch his Adam’s apple bob as he swallows the lump in his throat, “In what way?”
“Come on Con,” You scoff, “I feel like I stranger showing up here again, I know you’re all looking at me like I’m a new person.”
He jumps the gun quickly to correct you, “It’s not like that, I know you’re still you.”
You roll your eyes, “Then why are you being so different with me?”
“I just-“ He stops himself, reaching out to brush your hair away from your face, as if he wants to frame your features in the perfect light, “It just feels like this summer I actually woke up. Saw what was right in front of me.”
“And what’s that?” You stop yourself from smiling, feeling so nervous with the way he cupped your cheek.
His thumb brushes along your jaw, until it is at the base of your chin, “You.”
Slowly, cautiously, like he’s giving you both the time to overthink, he draws you into him and you pull to him like a magnet. His breath fans over your lips before you close the space between you, his lips soft and uncertain against yours. You hadn’t kissed anyone before, you didn’t have a clue on what to do. But his hand keeps you pulled into him and his fingers are in your hair and his lips move against yours like they were meant to be there. He holds you like he’s been waiting to for a short forever.
Conrad’s hands move lower, pressing against your back to pull you into him, both of you angled awkwardly over the console of the car. He fumbles in his seat to draw you close to him despite the block between you and both of you laugh against each other.
“Terrible place for a first kiss,” He mumbles against you, his forehead pressing against yours.
You smile and pull away from him, “I think we’re just impatient.”
“Oh I think we’ve both waited long enough to do that,” He scoffs, “C’mere.”
One hand drops to draw his chair as far away from the wheel as it will go before they’re both back onto you, gripping and grasping at your hoodie to pull you over to him. You giggle as you clamber over onto his lap.
He grips your waist as you settle down onto his thighs, your noses bumping together in the small space.
“Hi,” You grin, holding both of his shoulders as if convincing yourself he was real.
His hands slip beneath the waistband of your hoodie, for no other reason than to convince himself that you were real too, that he could feel you there.
“Hi.”
———
You and Conrad had stayed together for the following year without any hiccups. He drove to your home, you drove to Boston, you met in the middle in Cousins. You spent Thanksgiving with his family, and he came to yours after Christmas. You called each other nearly every night and the long distance never seemed to feel like too far. All up until when the two of you were back in Cousins. Your parents hadn’t come this summer but you had, and you stayed at Susannah’s place. It was the most time you and Conrad had ever spent together, waking up together, going to sleep together, it was all you’d been wanting since he’d first kissed you in that car.
But all pieces of heaven come with tiny bits of hell. And it didn’t take too long for the perfect bubble to burst.
You’d been at the beach at a bonfire party, and you’d been accepting any drink that someone offered you. It was starting to hit you a little bit, the sort of buzz that warmed your veins and heightened your confidence.
“Where’s Con?” You frown at Jeremiah, squinting around the mass of bodies to try and spot your boyfriend.
“I don’t know,” Jere shrugs, “I think I saw him with Steven by the fire.”
You nod and trail your steps in that direction, stumbling a little on the uneven sand.
“Hey!” An unfamiliar pair of hands grab your waist, “Come and dance with me.”
You push them away and turn your head back to see a boy you don’t recognise, rolling your eyes.
“Oh come on, don’t be boring,” He encourages, “Dance with me.”
His hands snake around your waist again and you push them off.
“Get off me!” You exclaim, turning around to face him.
“Oh is that how you’re playing it?” The boy smirks, “What have you got a boyfriend or something?”
“I-“
“Hey, do you want to back the fuck off?” Conrad’s voice bellows from beside you, coming up towards the boy and shoving him square in the chest.
He stumbles backwards on the sand but catches himself before he falls.
“Who the fuck are you?” The boy scoffs, looking up to meet Conrad’s eyes before looking back at you, at the way Conrad shields you with his body, “You’re her boyfriend?”
“How about you leave her alone?” Conrad waves the boy off, watching as he walks off from the both of you before he turns around to face you.
“God he wouldn’t get off me he-“
“We’re going home.”
Conrad’s voice is cold, emotionless - a way you’d never heard him speak towards you.
“Wh-“
“We’re leaving,” He snaps once again, “I’m driving.”
“Con wh-“
He holds your arm in his grasp and tries to lead you away from the party, getting you as far as being just slightly away from the big crowd.
“Conrad get off me, you’re hurting me!” You exclaim, pulling your wrist from his grip, “What’s wrong with you?”
“(Y/n) you’re drunk and we’re going home,” He says harshly, looking at you with eyes that didn’t feel like his own, “Now get in the car.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” You wrap your arms over your chest, “Why are you being like this?”
“Because you’ve got guys fucking trying it on with you, thinking they’ve got a chance with you, and I’m stood right there (Y/n)!”
“Nothing happened!” You half-laugh, “He grabbed me and I told him to stop. What the fuck is wrong with that?”
“You think they don’t think they’ve got a chance with you?” Conrad raises his eyebrows, “Are you fucking blind?”
“No I’m not blind Conrad but I’m not going to fucking cheat on you with the first guy that shows me attention. Who the hell do you think I am?”
His shoulders drop a little like he’s realised the effect, but Conrad being Conrad will only let the mask slip for so long before he’s back to the coldhearted demeanour he seemed to have adopted for the night.
“Okay, we’re taking both of you home,” Steven walks over to interject, “I’ve not been drinking, I’m driving.”
You look at Conrad for a moment longer like you’re hoping he’s going to change his mind and reach out for you and apologise but he doesn’t make any move to do so.
He walks off ahead with Steven and you walk behind with Belly and Jeremiah.
Everyone is deathly silent on the drive home until you reach the house and they mumble a quick ‘good night’ before going into separate bedrooms. Conrad still hasn’t looked you in the eyes and, as you sober up more and more, you’re convincing yourself he never will.
“Con can we please-“
You pause as you watch him rummaging through the closet to pull out a pillow and blanket.
“What are you doing?”
“Sleeping downstairs,” He returns bitterly, turning around towards the door.
“You can’t be serious,” You scoff, “That’s it? You’re not even going to talk to me about it?”
“I’ve said what I wanted to say,” Conrad shrugs, “We’re not going to agree so now what?”
“We fight it out Conrad. We talk about it like fucking adults,” You shake your head, “We don’t just give up and act like each other’s worst enemy.”
He doesn’t respond.
“You’re unbelievable.”
“I’m unbelievable? I’m not the one with a guys arms around my fucking waist!”
“What the fuck was I supposed to do?” You yell, unbothered about every other pair of listening ears in the house.
Conrad doesn’t reply once more, stepping past you to walk into the corridor.
“You know what? Go fuck yourself Conrad,” You state coldly and he glances back only momentarily to watch as you slam the bedroom door, feeling it shake the room around you before you fall to the floor in tears.
The only other sound comes from his feet creaking the stairs on their way down.
—
The following morning, you’re up before anyone else in the house. You could barely sleep in the night, feeling oddly cramped in the spacious bed, feeling cold in the too-hot room.
Eventually, you give up on trying to sleep any more and instead make your way downstairs.
The couch is empty, apart from a small pile with the pillow and blanket stacked on top of each other. You frown a little at the sight, desperate for the calm of seeing Conrad asleep and peaceful. Your eyes draw outside to the garden where you can just about make out the shape of a body across one of the sun loungers, tucked away in the shade at the side of the pool.
He must be freezing.
You grab the blanket from the couch and tuck it under your arm, stepping outside as quietly as you can to reach Conrad.
His arms are wrapped over his chest and his heads tilted to the side, stretching out his prominent jawline. His breaths are calm and even and you’re conscious as ever to not wake him as you stretch out the blanket to lay over him.
You’re just about to turn away when you see his eyes start to flutter open just a little.
“(Y/n)?” Conrad’s voice croaks as you turn back towards the house.
You grimace a little and look down at the floor, “I- I thought you might be cold.”
Certain more than ever that this wasn’t the time to start up another argument, you start to make your way back inside with hurried steps.
“(Y/n) wait!” Conrad calls after you, “Will you stay?”
You pause in your steps and turn around to face him, “I-“
But it’s easier to not say a word, as if you don’t want to ruin the moment. You walk over to him slowly and he shifts over on the lounger so that there’s one thin half of it for you to lay on. He stretches out an arm and you lay down, resting your head on his chest whilst his other arm drapes the blanket over you. Both of you are silent at first, as if wanting to breathe in every ounce of contact you’d been missing.
“I’m sorry about last night,” Conrad says, trailing one hand up and down your back, “I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”
You nod, “I’m sorry too. I should’ve just listened to you and I know you we-“
“Baby,” He speaks so softly you’re sure your heart swells at the feeling of him coming back to you.
You lean up slightly, just enough to rest on your elbow and turn your head to face him.
I was in the wrong,” He assures you, “I’d been drinking and I saw you with that guy and I just flipped and I shouldn’t have.”
You nod, resting a hand on his chest, “It was kind of hot when you shoved him though.”
Conrad chuckles, wrapping his arm around your waist to pull you between his legs, letting you lay over his torso, “You think?”
You shrug, “Just yell at the guy more and not me next time.”
He smiles softly, “Noted.”
———
Arguments came rarely and calmly between the two of you after that day. When you did disagree, it was softer and sadder - less fuelled and less aggressive. Conrad never raised his voice at you, and you never raised your voice at him. You told him when you were upset and he told you when he was irritated. It worked.
You’d been together for five years before things changed again. You were a year out from graduating college and Conrad was practically waiting for the day when you would. He’d already graduated so he came to visit you on the weekends when he could, he worked a job in a research lab in Boston and he’d call you when he finished to tell you about what he’d done that day. The plan for after you graduated was to get the money to buy your parents’ Cousins house from them. The two of you, in Cousins, in the place you’d fell in love. It would be a dream.
You were back in Cousins for the summer after your third year of college and you were, of course, staying with his family and the Conklins. Everything had been completely normal until this one day where it felt like the whole house’s mood had shifted.
“Morning babe,” You yawn as you walk downstairs, into the kitchen where Conrad and Jere are speaking in hushed tones.
They stop abruptly when you walk in.
“Hey!” Jeremiah smiles a little too widely, “I’m gonna… I’m gonna head out.”
You frown as he hurries past you and turn back to Conrad.
“What was that about?”
He shrugs and walks over to you, wrapping his arms around your waist, “Jere’s Jere.”
You rest your head against his chest and breathe in the scent of cologne that clings to his clothes.
“Do you fancy waffles?” He suggests, his hands moving up to your shoulders to massage the skin over the material of your baggy t-shirt.
You pull away from him and narrow your eyes, “Waffles?”
“Don’t look at me like that, Im being romantic,” He rolls his eyes at you, walking away to get the ingredients from the cupboard.
“Oh I’m not complaining,” You grin, pushing yourself to sit on the countertop, “Did I forget an anniversary or something?”
“Can’t a guy do something nice for his girlfriend without an ulterior motive?” He questions you, walking over to open the cupboard beside your legs, pulling out the waffle iron.
You shrug, “We’ll see.”
As he stands back up, he leans in quickly to kiss you, “I’ve got some errands to run later but I’ll be back in time for dinner, Belly suggested we all go out.”
“Our for dinner? We never go out for dinner,” You frown, “Why would we-“
“Stop being so suspicious,” Conrad scoffs, “We’ll go somewhere nice.”
“You’re weird today,” You joke and he rolls his eyes at you once again.
—
Later that day, Conrad’s still out and you get a text from him telling you he’ll meet you at dinner rather than coming home first. You’ve been lounging around the house since he left, soaking in the sun in the garden before you came in to shower.
Belly knocks on your bedroom door as you’re laying across the bed watching The Office.
“Hey!” She grins, “Do you know what you’re wearing to dinner?”
You frown as she drops down onto your mattress, “No I’ll probably just put a jumper on or something.”
“I think-“ She looks around your room, “I think we should dress up.”
“Dress up? You’ll never get the boys to agree to that,” You laugh, “Where are we even going?”
She shrugs, “You’ll find out.”
You lean up onto your elbows and narrow your eyes at her, “Why’s everyone being so suspicious today? What aren’t you telling me?”
She laughs and her mouth moves like she can’t find the words, “I’m not saying anything.”
“Belly!” You exclaim as she hurries off from your bed.
“Just… wear something nice,” She sticks her head around the frame of your door, “Maybe that white dress that Conrad loves.”
You glance over to the closet and glaze over your appearance in the mirror. Maybe you should make an effort, it was rare you were ever going anywhere fancy enough to do anything like that. But they all seemed set on making this night a good one - who were you to question that?
Within the hour, you’ve done some light makeup, brushed through your hair and curled the bits around your face, and pulled on the white dress that Conrad loved so much.
When you step out to walk down the stairs, Belly, Steven, Taylor and Jere are all stood looking up at you.
“What the fuck is going on?” You laugh, “I feel like I’m going to prom.”
“Wh-“ Steven coughs, glancing at the others, “We’re just, um, you know, we don’t want to be late.”
You grab your purse quickly and hurry down the stairs, “Calm down, Im ready now.”
They follow you outside and you all walk over to Jere’s car where you go to open the back door.
“Um,” Belly stops you, “You can sit in the front.”
You look at her with a puzzled expression before climbing into the front with Jeremiah, watching as the other three pile into the back.
“Seriously guys what the fuck is going on?” You question as Jere pulls off from the driveway and starts down the road.
“What are you talking about?” Taylor shrugs, “We’re just hungry.”
“Everyone’s like treading on eggshells with me today, it’s weird,” You comment, “Con seemed like weirdly nervous before he left earlier too, I’ve never seen him run out of the door so quickly and I-“
You pause as the sights around you seem to change, Jeremiah taking a turn down a country lane.
“Jere this isn’t the way to the restaurant we need to go…”
You stop yourself once more as his face breaks into a grin that it’s impossible to hide.
“Seriously what aren’t you telling me?” You turn around to glance at the three of them in the back, all of their heads close together looking out of the windscreen.
Belly nods her head in that direction and you turn back to the front, your lips parting and every single sensation in your body seeming to ignite and disappear all in one moment.
There, in the exact spot where he’d first kissed you, is Conrad.
There’s a scattering of rose petals laid out across the grass and candles lining the edge of the cliff that dips down towards the town.
“Oh my god,” You exhale, glancing at the others in the car with tears already in your eyes.
“Go on, I think he’s waiting for you,” Jeremiah nods, squeezing your arm.
The other three look at you with widened eyes and bright smiles on their faces as you open the passenger door and step out.
“I was worried Jere would take you the wrong way,” Conrad calls over to you as you walk over towards him.
“Conrad this is-“ You stop yourself, glancing around at the sight that you’re sure is something out of a dream, “I don’t even know what to say.”
“You look beautiful,” Conrad reaches out his hands for you to hold, “I- God, I’d planned this whole thing and now it’s like I don’t know where to start.”
You step just a foot in front of him and squeeze his hands, looking up at him with watering eyes.
“(Y/n) I love you,” Conrad smiles back at you, “And there are a thousand words I could say now to tell you that, but nothing will be more important than telling you that I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life loving you. And so…”
“Oh my god,” You release again, watching as he lowers down onto his knee, reaching back into his pocket to pull out a small velvet box.
“(Y/n) (Y/l/n) will you marry me?”
“Oh my god,” You repeat once again as if they’re the only words going through your brain, your eyes spilling with tears.
Conrad looks up at you with overwhelming emotion in his eyes, “Well?”
“Yes!” You laugh, grasping either side of his face in your hands as he stands up onto his feet, “Of course! Yes!”
He looks down to push the silver ring onto your finger before wrapping his arms around your waist, lifting you up into his grasp before he lowers you down to the ground. His eyes shift into that same adoration they’d held for you when you first came here that night, and he leans in to kiss you with the same excitement as that first time too.
At the sight, a chorus of cheers extend from the car and you both glance over to see all four of them staring out the window with wide grins over their faces.
You laugh through the tears in your eyes and Conrad tightens his arm around your waist, pulling you as close to him as humanly possible.
In that moment, in that perfect moment, you think of your six year old self, when you’d been a blushing mess meeting Conrad for the first time. Your twelve year old self so terrified at the thought of kissing him. The sixteen year old self that first kissed him in that car. And every year since of loving him.
You see yourselves getting married, your families laughing and telling you they knew it would be this way all along. The two of you growing old together, watching your kids grow up too. And, eventually, being sat in the same spot on this same cliff overlooking this same town, with the boy who’d held your heart for your entire life.
The boy who’d always be your Connie.

can you do a conrad x reader and he meets yn at one of his moms chemo sessions- yn being a cancer patient- always sitting with susannah because she’s always wanted a mother figure so she starts spending time at the beach house and conrad falls for her pls!
Thank you so much love for this request!
Conrad Fisher walked into the hospital, his heart heavy with worry and sadness. His mother, Susannah, was battling cancer, and each chemotherapy session weighed heavily on his soul. As he entered the treatment area, his eyes scanned the room, searching for his mother amidst the sea of patients.
And then he saw her.
A young woman named Y/N, sitting next to his mother with a soft smile on her face. Y/N had been attending the sessions, seeking comfort and companionship from Susannah, who had become a mother figure to her. Conrad couldn't help but be struck by the strength radiating from Y/N, despite the weight of her own battle with cancer.
Intrigued by her resilience, Conrad approached Y/N and Susannah, introducing himself with a warm smile. Y/N's eyes flickered with surprise and curiosity as she returned his greeting. They soon struck up a conversation, their words flowing effortlessly as they discovered shared interests and dreams. There was an undeniable connection between them, an unspoken understanding that transcended the confines of their current circumstances.
Days turned into weeks, and Y/N began spending more time at the beach house with Conrad and his family. The ocean breeze whispered secrets of healing and hope as they laughed, shared stories, and created new memories together. Conrad found himself falling deeper for Y/N, captivated by her spirit and unwavering determination in the face of adversity.
As their friendship blossomed, Conrad discovered a newfound purpose in supporting Y/N through her cancer journey. He became her rock, her confidant, and her source of strength. Together, they navigated the highs and lows, finding solace in one another's presence.
One evening, as they sat on the porch, the sun casting a golden glow over the beach, Conrad found himself unable to contain his feelings any longer. He took a deep breath, the weight of his emotions spilling out in a rush of words.
"Y/N," he began, his voice filled with sincerity, "you've come into my life like a ray of sunshine, illuminating even the darkest corners. Your resilience, your grace—it's unlike anything I've ever witnessed. And I... I've fallen in love with you."
Y/N's eyes widened, a mix of surprise and vulnerability dancing within them. She reached out, gently touching Conrad's hand, her voice trembling with emotions that mirrored his own.
"Conrad, you've been my pillar of strength through this journey," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude. "And I've fallen for you too, in ways I never thought possible."
In that moment, the weight of their shared experiences melted away, replaced by the tenderness of their love. Conrad and Y/N embraced, their hearts intertwining like the crashing waves on the shore. The beach house, once a place of solace, now transformed into a sanctuary where their love could flourish.
Together, Conrad and Y/N faced the challenges that lay ahead, finding solace in the knowledge that their love could weather any storm. They shared stolen kisses under the moonlit sky, danced in the rain, and cherished every moment, knowing that life was a fragile gift meant to be treasured.
In the midst of their own battles, Conrad and Y/N discovered a love that transcended illness and hardship—a love that brought light to the darkest corners of their lives. And as they stood together, hand in hand, their hearts beating in unison, they knew that their love story was the most beautiful symphony they could ever compose.

I honestly hit a huge writers block and had no motivation to write!! but all the sweet messages from people saying they enjoyed my work has made me so happy!!! SO ONCE AGAIN THANK U AND I HOPE U ENJOY!! I tried my EXTRA HARDEST SO I HOPE THIS GIVES U THE CLOSURE YALL WANTED I LOVE YOU SM! ALSO THIS IS NOT PROOF READ SO PLEASE EXCUSE ANY MISTAKES!! I JUST WANTED TO FINALLY POST FOR U GUYS!!
It took a lot out of you not to stay in bed the next morning. The softness of your bed wrapped around your body gives you some sort of comfort. But of course, staying in bed would only make you feel worse. At least if you got up it would be easier to fake happiness. To no surprise, your phone was flooded with missed calls and texts from both Steven and Belly. Of course, you only responded to belly telling her that you'll explain your reasoning for ditching your "date" with Steven later.
Why did Steven even bother leaving you so many texts last night? If you were such a bother to him? Annoying. That's what he thinks you are. And what if you never heard those disgusting things he said about you? and went on the date with him? Would he just continue to lead you on?
Steven: waiting for you by the pool.
Steven: ur late
Steven: u look pretty even though i can't even see you. pls im starving
Steven: is belly holding you hostage?
Steven: it's been 18 minutes cmon.
Steven: the guys are going to laugh at me for being stood up I'm getting nervous.
Steven: did something happen are you okay?
Steven: belly is worried as well lmk.
You laughed at the messages blinking back angry tears that threatened to fall. Gosh! he was so fake. You could only imagine how relieved he must have been to not hang out with you.
Belly: have funnnn
Belly: no funny business!!
Belly: wait where did you go?!
Belly: Steven keeps pacing back and forth waiting for u
Belly: what’s going on?
Belly: just let us know ur okay
Belly: y/n ??!?!??
Y/n: hey, something came up last night sorry I had you worried. can u come over?
Belly arrived 20 minutes later. You spent the time together watching reruns of your favorite Disney show. “Do you want to talk about it?” Belly asked after a while, noticing something was bothering you.
“I overheard the guys talking about me last night.” You fiddled with the throw blanket that was on your lap. “At first it was just them teasing Steven about our date or whatever.” You took a deep breath upset that you felt like crying. “But Steven only agreed to hang out with me…” You paused blinking back tears. Belly moved closer immediately pulling you into a hug. “He only agreed to hang out with me…so I could stop annoying him! I honestly don’t know what I did wrong?” You pulled away from belly’s arms wiping your tears that had fallen.
“Maybe I was too forward? but I just wanted to see if he felt the same way…it was dumb.” You shrugged. Belly shook her head “Nope my brother is a fucking idiot!” she stood up taking your hand in hers and pulling you up. “I won’t let you mope around all day because of him!” You sighed “I don’t even have a choice do I?” Belly laughed shaking her head. “What do you say we go to the boardwalk? Taylor’s coming in today too” she smirked.
“And maybe someone would be happy to see you I don’t know” she whispered with a grin. “What are you talking about?” You questioned. “Well you know Xavier..the one that works the lemonade stand?” You nodded your head yes. “Well, he totally has the hots for you.” You cringed at her word choice. “He does not!” You laughed. “Oh, he does! you were too busy ogling my brother last summer you didn’t notice him ogling you.” she poked your side teasingly.
“Now let’s go!”
~
“Stay still before I poke your eye out” Taylor groans finishing up your eyeliner. You were now at the Fisher’s beach house getting ready to go down to the boardwalk. You laugh pulling away “I think that’s enough…if you make my eyeliner any thicker I’d cry!” Taylor playfully pushes your head away. “Sorryyyyy i want to make Xavier fall to his knees when he sees you!” You frown when she brings that name up. Sure, Xavier was a nice guy…and he was cute…but he wasn’t Steven.
You’d always imagined Steven being your first everything. First kiss, first date, first time. It was something you’d dreamt of all this time.
“Yeah…im going to get a snack before we head out do y’all want anything?” You ask heading towards the door. Both girls gave you a sympathetic smile shaking their heads no.
As you reached the kitchen you stopped in your tracks. Steven turned from looking into the fridge. You made eye contact for about 5 seconds before you beelined for the cabinets. “Hey,” Steven broke the silence as you pulled out a granola bar. You felt the warmth of his stare and turned finding him now leaning against the counter. “Hey…” you whispered looking anywhere but his face. “So you gonna tell me what happened last night?” Steven crossed his arms around his chest.
“Just didn’t feel up for it anymore ..” You shrugged nonchalantly. “That’s it?” Steven scoffed. “Yeah…that’s it” you whispered about to walk away. “What’s going on? I’m like so confused right now.” Steven gently gripped your arm. “Nothing just forget it…it’s not like you wanted to go anyways.” you rolled your eyes. “And what makes you think that?” He muttered eyes scouring your face for the truth. “Um, I don’t know let’s see …you quite literally ignored me this entire week!” You responded sarcastically.
“I didn’t mean to. I had a lot of shit on my mind alright?” Steven uttered softly. It almost felt genuine. The words he spoke just last night almost became liquid. “Yeah like what?” You whispered eventually looking into his eyes. “You can tell me..” You spoke gently stepping into him closer. No matter how much he’s hurt you. Steven would always make you melt. “Nothing let’s just forget about it…he pulled away opening up the fridge once again.”
It was like a switch was flipped. How he went right back to that cold shoulder he had been giving you all week. “You're a fucking asshole” You spewed, already ready to walk out of the kitchen. “Where are you going?” He abruptly spoke again. “The boardwalk…you know? so I won’t annoy you here.” With that, you left a confused and remorseful Steven behind.
~
“Hey, look y/n why don’t you go get a lemonade?” Belly suggested with an eyebrow raise. Shit. you were hoping they forgot about that. “Guys I don’t feel up for this..” You pouted looking between both Taylor and Belly. “Noooo go talk to him! you look hot as fuck.” Taylor gently grabbed your face giving you a mini pep talk.
“What if Xavier wants to hang out..I cant just ditch you guys?!?” You were stalling and they knew it. “We’ll be here waiting for you” Belly smiled. “Just try to have fun alright? But hey if you don’t really want to do it …we’ll back off” She narrowed her eyes at Taylor. “No…I’ll go” You laughed giving both of them a hug “Thank you guys.i really appreciate this.” You’d definitely still be moping around in your room about Steven if it wasn’t for Belly and Taylor. They both wished you luck as you headed straight for the lemonade stand.
As soon as he spotted you. The biggest smile spread across his face. “y/n? damn, it’s been so long” Xavier greeted you with a hug. “It’s only been a year!” You playfully ruffled his curly hair that sat atop his head. “That’s way too long…I enjoy seeing pretty girls year-round.” He spoke smoothly, he definitely knew how to talk to girls. “Shut up” You laughed pushing him away with not that much force.
“I have an hour lunch break…you up for arcade games?”
~
“So…you seeing anyone?” Xavier asked as he ate a scoop of his mint chocolate chip ice cream. You thought about it for a moment. Technically no you weren’t seeing anyone. But you knew you were still hung up on Steven. A day at the boardwalk with Xavier wouldn’t change that. “It’s complicated…I guess” Xavier sighed “I've been there…it’s rough” You nodded you were curious as to what he meant but you didn’t want to be nosey.
“Hey, look they have street fighter..” Xavier smirked. “Want to go a couple of rounds?” You nodded immediately pulling him towards the game. “Mhhm loser buys the winner a funnel cake!” You suggested with a chuckle. “Ouuu im so down y/n” Xavier squeezed your hand that held his quickly striding towards the arcade game.
Just two more steps, Just two more steps and you’d be fine. The rowdy yelling completely threw you off. You stopped in place looking behind you where the voices were coming from. You had no time to move out of the way, no time to prevent this from happening. No time to stop the trio of boys that you knew all too well. Suddenly a body collided with Xavier, the force immediately making your intertwined hands lose. “Dude, what the fuck?” Xavier groaned. It was then that you snapped back into reality. Eyes wide when you noticed Xavier’s ice cream now all over his shirt.
“What’s up? how are we doing?” That voice full of humor made you scoff. Steven stood tall a smile on his face. You hated that it kind of made your heart flutter. “Steven, what is your problem?” You gestured towards Xavier’s now ice cream stained shirt. “He’ll be fine y/n it’ll wash out.” Steven laughed, but once he noticed you didn’t find this funny at all he frowned. “I’m sorry man, I just came over to say what’s up..” You ignored Steven’s apology not believing he meant it. “Hey want me to help you get cleaned up?” You asked Xavier voice full of concern.
“No.I got it…I’ll see y’all later.” Xavier spoke nonchalantly as he walked away. When he was out of eyesight you brushed past steven heading out the door.
“Y/n” Steven immediately followed behind you. His long legs make it easier for him to catch up with you. “You embarrassed me” You stopped outside the arcade, letting him pull you to the side. “Embarrassed? sorry to interrupt your little date” Steven scoffed. “It's not a date we were just hanging out, why do you care?” You groaned running your hands down your face. “Maybe because just yesterday you were supposed to hang out with me?” Steven spoke definitively.
“Oh my god, just earlier you agreed to forget about it,” you said with an eye roll. “It was dumb, stop acting like you care just go home Steven I did you a favor.” He shook his head “What are you talking about right now?” Steven pulled you in closer, one of his hands placed on your waist. The other coming to the side of your face, willing you to look at him.
“I heard you.i heard everything,” you spoke up voice hoarse. Steven’s heart carried pain at the tears that stood brimming in your eyes. The realization was clear when he made the connection. “And you know..who cares what Jeremiah and Conrad think! what hurt the most was you.” You shrieked. You hated that you were crying in front of him. You hated that when he hauled you against his chest you felt secure.
“I'm sorry baby... I'm sorry” Steven sounded voice vulnerable. Leaving kisses atop your head. “Why would you say that?” you sobbed breaking down in front of the boy who caused it. “I didn't mean any of it” Steven brought your face between his hands once again. “But you said it..it still fucking hurts Steven.”
You wiped your face getting prepared to pull away and walk back home.
“Wait, please let me talk to you.” Steven begged. “okay” you replied being prepared to cry all over again. “My head has been all fucked up..and that isn't an excuse I know” Steven looked down as if he couldn't construct the next words. “Please don't shut me out.” you pleaded gently. “I want you...i have all this time.” Steve confessed for the first time.
“—And I didn't want to fuck anything up we've..been so close all our lives if I ever messed that up I would never forgive myself.” It's as if you were dreaming, the boy you loved stood in front of you disclosing his feelings for you. “And what? this whole week of you acting cold towards me, were you trying to avoid your feelings?” Steven bobbed his head “Yes, if I lied to myself it would make lying to everyone else easier because the fucking truth is I want you so bad” You didn't tell him but at that moment you forgave him.
“And you called me the annoying one?” You giggled pushing on his chest gently. “Right now we could have been making out on the beach….but noo you had to be a brooding boy” Steven tickled your side, causing you to squirm in his arms. “Yeah, my fault can I kiss you now? been practically wanting to my whole life.” Steven threw his head back fake pouting setting one hand over his chest. You figured you'd throw his words right back at him. “You're so desperately desperate”
Steven smirked “Yeah for you? I am” Those words welcomed a whole lot of beautiful feelings. At that moment is when Steven bent down bringing his lips down onto your own. As your lips moved together, butterflies erupted in your belly. You smiled against his lips when you both needed a breath. “Hey, by the way, your not off the hook.. I'm still sort of pissed at you.” You declared pointing a finger into his chest.
“Yeah, I figured” He laughed wrapping his arms even tighter around you. “How about I make it up to you this whole week? I'm taking you out on dates…ill even get on my knees if I have to. I'm going to follow you around like a puppy.” Steven rambled on. You laughed out loud covering your mouth with your hands. “Oh, it's funny?” Steven raised an eyebrow suggestively. “Yeah, you're such a loser.” You joked.
Before Steven could respond you tugged him into another kiss. Perhaps everything wasn't one hundred percent fixed. But you and Steven were finally here together. You and Steven were finally in each other's arms that's all that mattered. You’d figure out the rest together.

SWEETHEART | Jeremiah Fisher
Summary: After your parents file for a divorce, you’re forced to move in with your mom’s friend until the divorce is finalized. You wished you could stay with your dad and your friends, but when you meet Jeremiah Fisher, that changes. And now you’re wanting to stay in the Cousins. Too bad things don’t last forever.
Word Count:
Part: 6
previous part series masterlist next part
Authors Note: I’m like actually so sorry for not updating. I’ve just been really unmotivated but since season 2 is out I’ve gotten more motivation and energy to continue the series! Not proofread (like always) but please let me know if you want to be on the taglist or if I missed you! (it wouldn’t let me tag some ppl for some odd reason.)
“Y/N, wake up!” You hear someone whisper.
You mumble something you don’t even remember, shoving your face deeper into a pillow. You think whoever was trying to wake you left, and so just as you were about to fall back asleep a pillow hit your back.
You look up to see Jeremiah with a pillow in his hand… and he was shirtless. You lazily stared at his abs before he smacked your face with pillow.
Fuck, did he notice?
“C’mon! It’s Belly’s birthday, we gotta go get up before her.” He says.
“Wha—“ You start, cut off with another pillow to face. You reach your arm out to snatch the pillow away, but he pulls it out of your reach.
“What time is it?” You ask, rubbing your eyes.
“8:00”
“What the hell—“
“It’s Belly’s birthday, we gotta decorate the kitchen before she wakes up.” He explains, throwing the pillow back onto your bed.
It was her birthday? Shoot, why didn’t anybody tell you? You would’ve gotten her a gift, you know you just met her and all but still.
“I’ll be down in a bit.” You mumble, shoving your face back into your pillow.
Maybe you could get her a gift later? What does she even like?
“Okay, make sure to brush your teeth… I can smell your breath all the way from over here.” He exaggerates, jokingly grimacing as he plugs his nose.
“Shut up!”
And before you knew it, you were back asleep. You were exhausted from the night before. After Belly joined in on your guys’ movie marathon, she shortly fell asleep and whenever you would close your eyes for longer than 5 seconds, Jeremiah would be the one to poke you, waking you up. It wasn’t until after the movies were over, Jeremiah woke Belly up and the two didn’t even have a chance to leave before you were passed out.
You rubbed your eyes hastily, jumping out of bed after you heard the multiple “heys” coming from downstairs.
Grabbing the first shirt and shorts you saw, you sped walk downstairs, following the voices.
“….Conrad, uh, do you wanna give Belly your present?” You hear Susannah ask.
It’s quiet for a few moments, before Conrad responds, “Sorry… I forgot.”
Nobody noticed you yet as you watch the side of Belly’s face fall, a small frown on her lips.
An awkward pause of silence washes over before Belly quickly recovers, “Oh. That’s cool— I wasn’t really expecting anything anyways.”
Another awkward pause happens until your mom spots you. “Ah, there’s Y/N!”
You watch as all eyes fall on you, your mom getting up from her spot on the couch and making her way to you. She pulls out a small box from her front pocket, giving it to you. She mouths the words; “We’ll talk later”
You give her a tight lipped smile, before she makes her way back to her spot. You follow quickly, giving the box to Belly as you say “Happy Birthday.”
Belly sends you an appreciative smile, “Aw, Y/N. You really didn’t have to get me anything.”
“Pfttt, of course I did.” You say, watching as she opened the box. It was a pair of earrings along with a necklace. Her smile widens, “Thank you!”
Conrad makes an excuse, before exiting the room as Belly smiles once falls again.
“Hey, why don’t we practice driving before we have to go pick up Taylor from the bus station?” You hear Jeremiah say.
Who the hell is Taylor?
-
“I can’t believe you would sleep in like that!” Your mom lectures you after pretty much everybody left the house. Jeremiah invited you to go witness “Belly’s terrible driving skills” but you mom quickly shot him down.
“I didn’t know—“ You start, uncomfortably sitting at the edge of her bed.
“Really? Because didn’t Jeremiah wake you up?”
“Well, yeah—“
“Jesus, Y/N. Why are you acting like this? I didn’t raise you—
“Oh, I don’t know! Maybe because you’re forcing me to stay here when I can stay with Dad!” You interrupt.
Before your mom could even get a chance to go off at you, a knock on the door stops her. She exhales before opening the door.
Susannah stands there with a smile on her face, “Hey, I was wondering if I can take Y/N out for shopping? I need to get some stuff for tonights dinner, It would be a great time to get to know her better.”
Your mom stays quiet for a moment before nodding, “Yeah, I’m sure it’ll be fun.”
You follow Susannah outside to her car, silent as you sat in the front seat. You put your seatbelt on before you realize that Susannah wasn’t making any move to put hers on.
“Y/N, look, I know how it must feel to be staying at some random strangers house. But, I’ve known your mom for a while. And she has her reasons, okay?” She tries to explain, staring at you with a look of empathy on her face.
You bite your tongue, trying to stop yourself from saying anything rude. You appreciated Susannah letting you stay here, she was nice, had amazing sons, well one of them at least, and she was an overall sweet person. It was just… you missed home. You missed your friends, you missed your dad, and it feels weird being here. You feel out of place, like an intruder. Everybody knows everybody but you.
“I just wanna go home.” You mumble, leaning your head against the car door.
She stays silent for a moment. “… Okay, how bout we make a deal?”
This perks your interest as you lift your head to look at her.
“If you still wanna go home by the end of this week, I’ll talk to your mom and see about flying you home.”
Your eyes widen, “Wait really? You’d do that?”
“Yes, but only if your mom is on board. Just try to stay on your mom’s good side until then?” She suggests, sending you a wink causing you to laugh.
“Okay, okay, deal.” You say, trying your hardest not to smile from ear to ear.
She starts the car, “I actually need stuff for Belly’s birthday dinner tonight but we can stop for some pies and eat them in the car. Just don’t tell anybody.”
-
By the time you’re back at the house, you notice Jeremiah’s red jeep back in the driveway. You felt fat and full after splitting a pecan pie with Susannah and just wanted to sleep it off.
You helped get the groceries out of the car, setting them inside on the counter. Your mom was nowhere to be found, thank god so you didn’t have to continue the lecture from earlier… at least for now.
As you were about to grab the last bag, you spot Conrad and his girlfriend, whatever her name is, walking to the backyard.
Oh god were they about to make out in the pool or what? Why’d he even bring her? It’s Belly’s birthday and he just brought his girlfriend over like they weren’t arguing a few days ago? Pathetic.
“Do you need help with putting these away?” You offer Susannah once your back inside, she shoos you away, claiming you should go hang out with the rest of the kids.
You shoot her a appreciative smile, your arms sore from carrying all those bags as you went from store to store.
Opening the sliding door, the first people you notice are Conrad and his girlfriend sitting on the edge, and the next thing is a net with a volleyball flying over it.
“Hey, Y/N! You’re back!” You hear Belly shout, Conrad and his girlfriend both turn to look at you but you ignore them as you make your way closer to the pool.
“Hey.” You say. You finally notice the new face next to her, a dirty blonde in a teal bikini. And you definitely don't miss the dirty look she sends you.
She waits a few moments, hoping her friend in the bikini would introduce herself but she doesn’t make any effort, still looking at you like you were gum on the bottom of her shoe.
Belly nervously laughs, “Y/N, this is my best friend Taylor. Taylor, this is Y/N. You know the one I was telling you about on the phone?”
“Oh yeah.” Taylor says, forcing a smile your way.
What the hell was her problem?
“Join us! Steven can sit out—“ Jeremiah starts, throwing the ball up in the air but catching it.
“No, no, I never agreed to that!” Steven argues, Jeremiah spins around and guessing by the look on his face or something he said that you couldn’t hear Steven groans before giving in.
“Actually we were about to go to the beach, right Belly?” Taylor speaks.
“Uh, yeah.. Y/N do you want to come?” Belly asks, looking away from her friend to look at you.
Telling by the annoyed look on Taylors face and the way she’s been looking at you, you can tell she doesn’t want you there. Or anywhere around her for that matter.
“No thanks, I’m pretty tired from shopping.” You tried to joke, chuckling to yourself.
“How could you be tired if you slept in this morning?” Taylor quips, shooting you a glare. Belly turns around to shoot her one, causing Taylor to shrug.
“Haha, yeah…” You mumble, scratching your arm. Oh god, the end of the week couldn’t come any faster.
Belly gives you an empathic look, or you think she did, you were too busy staring at your feet.
You didn’t want to go back inside because you didn’t want to seem like coward but you also didn’t want to stay if you weren’t wanted.
Jeremiah was quick to notice your awkwardness, telling you that you could dip your legs into the water on his side and so that’s what you did. Sitting on the edge of the pool, dangling your legs in the water and most important of all, sitting far far away from Taylor.
Instead of Belly and Taylor going to the beach like Taylor said they would, they play a few more rounds of volleyball until Taylor hit Conrad’s girlfriend in the face causing her and Conrad to go inside.
And soon Steven left because his girlfriend called him, causing him to almost drop his phone in the water, and because it was just Jeremiah vs. Belly and Taylor they finally decided to go to the beach.
“Hey, y’know Belly doesn’t care you slept in right?” Jeremiah says, splashing water at you. He swims closer to you, pulling himself out of the pool to sit on the edge next to you.
You roll your eyes, “Her friend does.
“Taylor? Yeah, she’s a little cray cray.” He says, motioning it with his finger.
You laugh, shaking your head. “How long is she staying?”
“Just a few days, then we’ll be Taylor free for the rest of summer.”
The rest of summer.
“You should get in.” He says, elbowing your side.
“I don’t have a bathing suit.”
He stays silent for a moment, “So?” He pushes you into the water, your body submerging into the cold water as you shoot up coughing.
You can hear him laughing, while you’re basically choking on the chlorine filled water. “You jerk! I didn’t want to get my clothes wet!”
“You can still take them off.” He suggests, watching as you slicked your hair back.
You shoot him a playful glare, “In your dreams.”
“Every dream since I’ve met you.”
You splash him with water, “You’re stupid.”
He stares at you for a moment before tackling you under water, pulling you back up with his arm around your waist. “What’d you say?”
You wipe your eyes, trying to shove him off you but no budge. Your guys’ faces were even closer, your breath hitched. What was gonna happen?
He made eye contact with you a few times, and the times he wasn’t doing that he was staring at your lips. He started leaning in, closer and closer to the point where your noses were almost touching.
You felt like you couldn’t even breathe.
Did you even want this?
And just as he was about to move closer you shoved him away, taking him by surprise.
He backs away quickly, eyes widening.
“S-sorry.. I just… I just don’t really know you.” You say, scratching the back of your neck.
“No, yeah, yeah I shouldn’t have done that. You don’t have to apologize.” He says, eyes still as round as saucers.
“Uhrm… yeah…” You mumble, crossing your arms around yourself as you suddenly felt cold even though you were used to the water.
What a way to kill a mood. Why’d you even do that, damnit.
He nods, placing his lips into a tight line. “I’m gonna…” He closes his mouth, pointing to the house while backing up.
“Okay.” You say, nodding.
You watch him turn around, pull himself out of the water and grab a towel before he quickly goes inside
Leaving you in the pool alone as you stared at the spot he was just at.

Hi!! I love your work SO much! I wanted to ask for a Jeremiah Fisher x Fem!Reader (established relationship) lengthy imagine. I want the skinny dipping scene from start to finish with the clothes stealing and stuff. I want the reader to call Jeremiah shaking, sniffling, with tears in her eyes. Then the brothers come and the girls get changed, Taylor and Belly go with Conrad and when they leave Reader has a pain attack and Jeremiah comforts her. Sorry if this is a lot to ask. Love ur writing! Ty!
Rescue Me : Jeremiah Fisher x Reader
Descr: 6.3k wc, y/n is with Belly and Taylor when the other Deb girls steal their clothes while everyone was skinny dipping, leaving her to rely on her boyfriend Jeremiah Fisher to come to her rescue. Hurt comfort, slight angst to fluff
Warnings: Skinny dipping, stealing clothes, fake/mean people, crying, anxiety, betrayal, mentions of being naked (no smut or spicy content), relationship components and such, & cursing. Let me know if I missed anything!
“Put a finger down if you've ever made out with two people within 24 hours of each other,” Taylor said, glancing around at the group of girls.
Gigi, Nicole, and Taylor all lowered a finger as instructed. The girls were circled around the deck of a large boat, hanging out and getting to know each other. It was fairly late but the warm summer weather kept the evening air at Hopper’s Cove still comfortable for now.
After she finished laughing, one of Belly’s debutante friends spoke up. “Okay, put a finger down if you've ever used a stuffed animal to...” she trailed off. “… you know,” the girl concluded boldly.
“His name was Harry Bear Styles,” Taylor defended, putting another finger down.
The girls all laughed as they debated if Taylor having had a name for the bear was normal.
Y/n leaned back against the side of the boat as she took in the way the moonlight reflected on the water beside them. It was a peaceful scene.
“Okay, put a finger down if you've ever had sex.”
“If you've ever been to third?”
“Put a finger down if you've ever gone to second.”
The questions came one after another, hardly enough time for anyone to even comply with the instructions for the first one before the next came. Y/n noticed the way they all seemed directed at Belly, each deb’s eyes staring at her to see if she was putting any down. It wasn’t a surprise to see the debutantes were more interested in Belly’s answers than each other’s; most of them knew each other thoroughly already, but Belly was new to the deb scene. It also came as no surprise that they didn’t seem to care about y/n or Taylor’s answers to their interrogation-like questions; they weren’t debs after all. As far as the girls saw it, Taylor and y/n weren’t even “true” Cousin’s Beach girls since they’d been invited rather than having grown up here.
Y/n and Taylor shared an empathetic expression as the questions weighed in the air. It was clear the debutantes were judging Belly for not having put a finger down to any of the questions. It wasn’t anything Belly should be concerned or ashamed about, much less made to feel that way over. Y/n tried to send the girls a silent look that would make it clear they needed to back off a bit. But, as expected, the debutantes were ignoring y/n completely.
When y/n turned back to look at Taylor, she noticed the look in her eyes. Y/n watched as Taylor silently mouthed “You and Jere?”. She instantly knew what she was getting at. The debutantes were known for having a thing for the Fisher boys; understandably. They also didn’t know y/n well and hadn’t been around her or her and Jeremiah much since they started dating. In fact, it was Belly’s suggestion that y/n get to know these girls better, ideally becoming friend with them, that brought y/n here. Outside of Taylor, the Fishers, and the Conklins, y/n didn’t know anyone in Cousin’s.
The awkward shuffling of Nicole’s feet against the deck of the boat helped y/n refocus on Taylor’s unspoken question. It would be a good change of topic, and Belly clearly could benefit from that. She nodded at Taylor, earning a smile in response.
Taylor smirked as she looked around the boat before side eyeing y/n teasingly. “Put a finger down if you've ever made out with Jeremiah Fisher,” she purred.
When y/n’s ring finger hit the base of her palm, the girls all gasped.
“Wait you two got together?” Dara, one of the debutantes asked, her eyes wide. She leaned forward, arms resting on her legs, visibly intrigued.
The plan had a worked.
“They have been together! Jeremiah has been in love with her for like forever,” Taylor commented happily. As a friend of y/n’s, she’d always been supportive of her healthy relationship with Jeremiah. She shifted her focus across the board and chuckled, “sorry Gigi”.
“No, it’s fine,” Gigi said. Yet, it was clear she was not pleased. She had a newly-present scowl of jealousy on her contoured face. It was no secret she’d long harbored unrequited feelings for the younger Fisher brother.
“I was wondering why he seemed so preoccupied this summer,” Marissa commented, a small smile on her lips.
“And it explains why he’s always staring off at the y/job/station,” Gigi acknowledged, forcing a kind expression to take over her face.
Y/n bashfully bit her lip as she gazed down at her lap. Y/job/station was where y/n had been working for the summer since she needed some extra income and everyone seemed to have some obligation to attend to. She knew her working there was the main reason her boyfriend Jeremiah had decided to actually work this summer instead of just relaxing. He’d said so himself when teasing her about how she wasn’t letting him skate by on his father’s finances anymore. But, had he really been staring over at her while she was working? There was no reason for Gigi to lie about it. And her jealousy about Jeremiah allegedly staring at y/n was blatantly obvious. So, it must be true.
The girls laughed loudly at y/n’s bashful reaction. “You’ve made out with him and this is what flusters you?” Marissa joked lightly, her polite smile showing that she was teasing. The question made y/n even more bashful, only igniting the innocent giggles further.
“So, you’re with Jeremiah?” Nicole asked, redirecting the conversation.
Y/n nodded with a proud smile. “Yeah, we’ve been together for awhile,” she answered softly.
Nicole hummed. She tilted her head as her eyes focused on y/n. “So, you’re probably pretty close to Conrad too then, yeah?” She inquired.
“We’ve all been friends for years,” Belly spoke up as y/n questioningly looked over at Taylor.
Nicole smiled sympathetically at Belly. “Right, but you can’t seem to get a solid answer out of him for me,” she pointed out, not knowing how badly it stung the newest debutante. Nicole shifted her attention back to y/n.
“I’m sorry?” Y/n asked, not caring for how drastically the tone had changed. Or the way Nicole’s interview of her prompted all the debutantes to silence as they visibly waited in anticipation for her answer. She felt Taylor shift closer to her, making her look her way briefly before facing Nicole again.
“Do you think he’s, Conrad, is actually into me,… or?” Nicole asked directly. Her face displayed her embarrassment over having to ask such a thing, especially to someone she barely knew. But, the hopeful look in her eyes simultaneously showed why she wanted to ask.
Y/n swallowed thickly as she mentally reminded herself not to look over at Belly instinctively. “Oh, uh.. I don’t..” she rambled. She slowly glanced at each of the girls and their eager eyes. “I’m sorry… “ she began in a soft shy tone. “I don’t really know those details of Conrad’s life,” y/n said, praying it was enough to stop further questioning.
“Conrad’s a closed book,” Taylor stated with a forced airy laugh.
Nicole signed but nodded.
“Enough about the Fisher boys,” Taylor decided. Her last topic change hadn’t gone the way she wanted. It was time to try again. “Put a finger down if you’ve ever been skinny dipping,” she instructed, lowering a finger as she met Nicole’s stare.
Y/n let out a tiny sigh of relief as the topic successfully changed, Nicole putting a finger down.
“Put a finger down if you've ever gone skinny-dipping at Hopper's Cove,” Nicole amended, holding eye contact with Taylor.
“Is that a dare?” Taylor laughed.
“Absolutely,” Nicole smirked playfully. She turned to see the water outside their boat. “Let’s go,” she hummed, rising from her seat.
“Oh, my God, I knew my boy'd rally!” Steven screamed when Jeremiah showed up to the party.
Jeremiah had been at home upset that y/n had chosen to go out with the girls instead of spending the night with him tonight. But, after thinking it through, and Susannah lovingly scolding him, he got over himself. And what better way to kill time than a party?!
Jeremiah cheered as he dried the dribble of alcohol on his lips. “It's an ice luge! Come try it! Steven, come on!”
“I was so worried it would be freezing,” y/n admitted. She tilted her head back to let the water soak her hair again. “But, it’s not that bad!” She laughed.
Nicole nodded and smiled at y/n. “I know, right?!” She agreed excitedly. “It feels nice actually,” the deb stated confidently.
Taylor stated her agreement and Belly simply nodded before splashing around. The girls’ laughter rang out through the moonlight atmosphere as they continued to enjoy their night.
Gigi jogged down the dock. She began removing her shirt as she laughed at Nicole’s shock of being hit by an unexpected splash from Taylor. “Hey, watch out for jellyfish,” Gigi commented, setting her top next to the other girls’ clothing a foot from the edge of the dock. “I do not want to have to pee on any of you guys.”
Belly laughed loudly. “Ewww,” she gushed, shaking her head.
“The other two girls missed out,” Taylor attested. Y/n nodded silently as she closed her eyes. She focused on the feeling of the water gently caressing her fully-exposed skin as it glided across her. She extended her neck and rested the back of her head against the top of the waves. Since she was nude under the water, she didn’t bring her body up to fully float on the surface. But, she let her legs and hips become slack, allowing the water to raise them slightly beneath the modesty of the water’s surface.
“I know,” Nicole scoffed. She looked over at Gigi as the girl began to remove her pants, wondering what was taking so long. “I figured Dara wouldn't, but Marissa?” She asked rhetorically.
“Yeah,” Taylor agreed. “That's what I thought,” she explained. She had tried to get a feel and understanding of each of Belly’s new friends. Her analysis lead her to the same expectation that Nicole stated having had.
“Nicole!” Gigi called out. She bent down to see the phone screen better after having heard it beep.
“Yeah?” Nicole replied, starting to swim over to her friend.
“Conrad's texting you,” Gigi informed Nicole after seeing his contact name on the screen.
“Okay, coming!” Nicole smiled. She quickened her strokes as she rushed over to see what the message said.
Y/n opened her eyes to look at Belly to see how she was doing over Conrad texting Nicole this late at night.
“This is so nice,” Belly said absentmindedly as she spun around in the water.
“Have to admit Belly, l like your new friends,” Taylor confessed, looking over at y/n for her feedback.
Y/n smiled softly towards Taylor. She wasn’t sure about the girls just yet. She didn’t care for the way Nicole and Belly were in love with the same guy. Not that it was either of their faults, or anyone’s fault per se. But, it felt pretty clear that if things went down, the girls would instantly side with Nicole over Belly. And y/n worried about that for Belly’s sake. But, she was at least happy Belly was still enjoying her night despite Conrad’s interruptive text.
“I knew you would,” Belly smirked smugly.
“They all seem to have moved on about pestering you about things with you and Conrad,” Taylor stated, having looked at the situation with Nicole much differently than y/n had.
Belly hummed carelessly as she spun back to Taylor and y/n. “Because there’s nothing to move on from, right?” She argued, trying to remind herself to resist getting feelings for Conrad again.
“Right,” Taylor nodded happily.
“They seemed supportive of you and Jeremiah too,” Belly stated, smiling at y/n hopefully. It was clear she wanted y/n to like her new friends the way Taylor did. And she hoped this act of support would encourage that.
“Even Gigi,” Taylor murmured quietly, knowing the girl was not too far behind them. “Whose veins just about exploded when she heard,” she added comically.
Y/n giggled and nodded, having seen Gigi’s comical reaction as well. She glanced over towards the dock to see where said girl was, only to not see anyone there. “Uh, guys…-,” y/n began quietly. However, she was cut off when the headlights from Nicole’s car flashed across the water the three of them were still in. She squinted and saw Nicole was driving and Gigi was in the passenger seat. The car had been started and before y/n could even find the words to communicate her observations, the car began to back out.
“I knew they were bitches!” Taylor huffed. She spun sharply, sending waves outwards from her body. She quickly began swimming to the dock.
“What's happening?” Belly asked cluelessly. Her head whipped between y/n and Taylor.
“No, no…. No,” Y/n mumbled, getting nervous.
“Taylor, what's going on?” Belly asked again.
“They took everything,” Taylor explained as she leaned her arm on the dock. “Except for your phone,” she noticed. She picked up the device and realized why Nicole and Gigi had abandoned them. “Which has a really incriminating text from Conrad.”
“Wait, what does it say?” Belly questioned, voice dripping with intrigue.
Y/n hurriedly swam over to the dock. Her wide eyes scanned around them to try to find something they could use to wear home. The girls may have taken all of their clothes and y/n’s phone, but that didn’t mean it was time to give up. There surely had to be a way out of this with some dignity still in tact.
"My mom did ask me to ask you to the ball, but that's not why I did it,” Taylor read aloud. The mocking tone of her voice expressed her sentiments over the text from Conrad. “I did it because I wanted to,” she finished, rolling her eyes.
“Oh my God,” Belly grinned, resting her forearms on the edge of the wooden dock.
“Belly, concentrate,” Taylor scolded. After having seen the look on y/n’s face from her position behind Belly, Taylor frowned. “Y/n, you good?” She asked worriedly.
“Mmmhm,” y/n hummed falsely. “Just thinking about how screwed we are,” she concluded with a loud sigh.
Belly distractedly giggled gleefully as she stared off into the dark sky.
Taylor huffed in annoyance and smacked Belly’s arm.
“What? What? Okay, okay okay, w-well wha-what do we do?” Belly asked after seeing Taylor’s scolding glare.
“I mean, we cannot walk home naked,” y/n pointed out. They were stuck. She couldn’t call anyone without her phone. And they couldn’t walk anywhere without even the tiniest scrap of clothing to wear.
“It could be worse,” Taylor argued hesitantly.
“Taylor,” Belly groaned as she and y/n stared at Taylor in disagreement.
“We’re going,” Taylor determined. She removed herself from the edge of the dock as she prepared to turn and swim to shore.
“What could be worse than this?” Belly rhetorically asked with a loud huff.
“Wait!” Y/n gasped, her eyes landing on a thin layer of material beside the boat they’d been on earlier. It wasn’t ideal, but the large fabric that had been used as a boat cover would make do. “W-what about that?” She asked, pointing over at the dirt covered material beside the abandoned boat.
“Noo,” Taylor whined in a high-pitched voice.
Belly shook her head. “It’s better than being naked,” she said in agreement with y/n. “Let’s do it”.
Y/n bit her lip anxiously when another loud dog began to bark as she, Belly, and Taylor wandered down the dimly lit street. At this point she’d lost count of how many dogs they’d encountered. Yet, each sudden noise had y/n’s nerves soaring.
The trio was huddled together under the dingy and slightly stinky boat cover. Thanks to Nicole and Gigi, they had to walk barefoot down the roughly paved road. The breeze from the late night air had managed to snake its way under and/or through their makeshift coverage so they had curled in on themselves along the way.
“This is so bad. This is bad,” Y/n mumured. She continued to scan the area in order to keep an eye out whatever might be happening around them in the dark.
“I knew those girls were shit,” Taylor complained.
“Okay enough,” Belly sighed. “Okay I get it, you were right”.
Taylor suddenly stopped walking, making y/n and Belly turn to face her. “Why can’t we just call Conrad?” She proposed. “He’s the one who got us into this mess,” Taylor commented.
“I agree,” Y/n said, absentmindedly picking at her cuticles. “We are seriously going to be like murdered or kidnapped or something at this rate,” she panicked.
“No,” Belly groaned dramatically. “Calling Conrad would be too much drama,” she argued.
“I can’t walk two more miles,” Taylor whined, trying to cover her shoulders more with the thin fabric.
“Taylor’s right, let me see your phone Belly,” y/n instructed, extending her hand beneath the curtain of material around her. “I’ll call,” she offered.
“No, you’re both going to have to suck it up,” Belly stated firmly.
“Oh my God!” Taylor whined. She shared an exasperated expression with y/n but trudged on.
Y/n’s frame began to shake. She knew it was a mix between her anxiety and the air hitting her wet skin. The other girls had been going on and on about Conrad being a disaster for playing with Belly and Nicole’s feelings. But y/n was focused solely on trying to keep her breathing and heart rate steady. It was getting to be an increasingly harder job as the sound of some angry man could be heard in background of the street they were.
“Belly,” Y/n pleaded. Her voice crackled, and she had to stifle a sob. When Taylor and Belly quickly looked her way, she sniffled. “Please let me call Jeremiah,” she requested. The desire to attempt to stop her oncoming anxiety attack helped her realize that while she didn’t have her own phone she could use Belly’s since she too had Jeremiah’s number saved.
Belly nodded silently and hurriedly passed y/n the phone.
Y/n walked a few steps to the side, unable to truly distance herself from the girls given they had to share the protection of the boat cover. She scrolled through Belly’s contacts until she found his entry and quickly pressed call. As she placed the phone to her ear to wait, her vision began to blur from the tears in them. This was a disaster.
“Wait, weren’t you out with y/n?” Jeremiah dared to ask the pissed-off-looking Nicole. He was tempted to let her just take his brother aside to talk like she commanded, but he had to know why she wasn’t with y/n and the others anymore.
“I was, she’s still with the girls,” Nicole answered simply. She signaled for Conrad to hurry up. “I just needed to talk to Conrad,” she explained.
Jeremiah sighed in relief now that he knew y/n was still fine and enjoying her night with the girls. He leaned back against the step behind him on the staircase. He tried not to smirk as he watched Conrad reluctantly follow Nicole like a kicked puppy. He loved his brother, but also knew from how much turmoil his brother had been causing Nicole and Belly lately; he had this talk coming.
Conrad and Nicole had just stepped out of the doorway when Jeremiah heard his phone ring as it began to vibrate against his thigh. He lazily reached into his pocket and checked the caller ID. Why was Belly calling? He clicked accept and answered, “hello?”
“J-J… Jere,” y/n whimpered.
Jeremiah’s chest tightened as he heard y/n’s sniffles through the phone. “Woah, babe! Babe, baby, what…” he rambled. He forced himself to take a breath so he could speak coherently. “W-what’s going on? Are you okay?” Jeremiah questioned worriedly.
“N-no,” y/n cried.
“What’s going on Y/n/n? Where are you?” Jeremiah inquired as he jumped up from the stairs and rushed to the door. As he worked his way through the crowd he thought over how much he had to drink. Fortunately had not consumed too much, not enough to keep him from driving safely without having to wait for Conrad -who was the official DD-.
“I…,” y/n choked up, sniffling loudly as she tried to wipe the free-flowing tears from her face. “Jere,” she whimpered, not having heard his voice in a few seconds and her mind too frantic to realize he’d asked her a question.
“I’m here baby,” Jeremiah soothed. “Talk to me, please,” he requested softly.
“I … I need you Jeremiah,” y/n begged. Her hand held the phone painfully tight as her chest shook.
“I’m already on my way to you, babe,” Jeremiah promised lovingly as he started his car. “Just tell me where you are,” he instructed tenderly as he began to back out of his parking spot.
“I… I don’t…,” y/n groaned faintly. “I don’t know,” she confessed shyly.
“O-okay, that’s uhhh.., that’s fine,” Jeremiah reassured as y/n sniffled. “Can you see anything recognizable around you, sweetheart?” He guided.
“N-no,” y/n answered, pointlessly shaking her head. “It… it’s dark,” she explained, her fear ringing out in her words.
“I know,” Jeremiah said as he frowned. The time of day had only added to his worry upon hearing y/n cry as soon he answered the phone. “Tell you what, can you turn location sharing on for Bell’s phone?”
Y/n paused for a moment as a weight in her chest sunk heavily. “Oh, okay, I will, thanks,” she mumbled.
Jeremiah sensed that y/n was planning on hanging up to do as he instructed. He sighed to himself. She clearly wasn’t thinking thoroughly. “Babe, stay on the phone with me, okay?” He advised quickly before she could hang up. “Just put me on speaker while you adjust the settings, yeah?”
“Oh… right,” y/n sniffled. “Duh,” she remarked harshly towards herself as she placed the call on speakerphone.
“Shh, you’re fine y/n/n,” Jeremiah cooed. “You’re doing great.” He gripped the steering wheel tightly as he kept himself from nervously tapping it as he waited. Y/n didn’t need him being in a panicked state as well. She was already struggling. But that was precisely what had Jeremiah so tense and on-edge. He needed to get to his girl.
Y/n could feel that Belly and Taylor had intentionally sat close to her on either side of her as they sat on the curb. No one said anything. After all, what was there to say? After she’d gotten off the phone with Jeremiah, Belly apologized. Y/n struggled to try to reassure her that it wasn’t Belly’s fault. Thankfully, Taylor caught on to y/n’s intentions and conveyed the message before suggesting they all sit as they waited for Jeremiah to arrive.
Y/n stared at the shrubbery and trees across the road from them. It was barely even visible at this hour. But she found their stillness was slightly calming. Plus, it gave her something to focus on rather than ruminating over the multitude of fears that were screaming inside her mind.
As Jeremiah turned onto the street that Belly’s GPS location showed the girls at, he searched the area that was now lit up by his headlights; in search of y/n. He choked on a gasp as his eyes found her. She was draped in a soiled boat cover, her soaked hair dripping down the front of it, her eyes distant and full of tears, and she was visibly trembling. Whether that was from the cold, her emotions, or something else, Jeremiah wasn’t certain. What he was certain of however was that he should’ve gotten here earlier. Sure y/n had Belly and Taylor with her still. But, she was the only one in tears, the only one shaking. They all looked defeated and embarrassed. Y/n was in far worse shape than they were though.
Jeremiah forced out a choppy exhale as he flung his car door open. He only spared Conrad a minimal glance when his car pulled up beside him. But then his eyes were back on his girl. His far too polite, sometimes overly-trusting, lovingly protective, and all around sweet girl. She didn’t deserve this.
“Shit,” Belly cursed under her breath as she and the other girls looked over to the two sets of headlights. “They’re both here?” She asked Y/n accusatorially.
Y/n shrugged and sniffled. She tried to compose herself enough to state her innocence in this change of events. “I…I only talked to Jere,” she defended weakly.
“Belly,” Taylor scolded sharply, elbowing the girl in the side. “Stop,” she sighed. She offered y/n an apologetic expression on behalf of Belly.
“Oh my God!” Jeremiah exclaimed as he sprinted over. “Y/n, sweetheart, are you okay?” He asked. He shook his head, realizing his mistake. Of course she wasn’t okay. “I.. I mean, of course…,” he sighed.
As Taylor and Belly helped y/n stand up with them, he smiled faintly in appreciation. Jeremiah wanted nothing more than to simply hold y/n. To protect her from any further embarrassment, hurt, worry, from anything. But the predicament with their clothing complicated things. The fact the three girls were all sharing a musty old boat cover prevented that from being a viable option right now. Jeremiah used the minimal light of his headlights to scan y/n as much as he could in the dark. He stepped closer and cupped her cheek, tenderly drying a few tears with his thumb.
“What are you doing here?” Taylor sassed. She squinted at Conrad as he approached with a bag of clothes in his right hand.
“Nicole…. Uhhh…” Conrad began cautiously. He rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.
Jeremiah moved his hands to y/n’s shoulders. He respectfully made sure his hands didn’t touch any of her exposed skin and instead remained on the loosely wrapped boat cover excess that pooled there. He searched her eyes worriedly as he watched her turn her gaze to Conrad, seemingly wanting to know his answer as well. Jeremiah hummed softly as he craned his neck to look over at his brother.
Conrad glanced around at everyone as they stared at him expectantly. “She told me about ummm…and…,” he mumbled as he waved his hand around towards the girls.
Jeremiah narrowed his eyes at Conrad in question. He still hadn’t heard why the girls were stranded. All y/n said when asking him to come was that she needed him. Even after vying a bit for more information on his drive here, she’d only mentioned their group went skinny dipping and the three of them lost their clothes. He didn’t know where the other girls were, if they’d had their clothes taken too, or what Conrad had to do with all of this. But, the fact Nicole had been so pissed when showing up at the party and the fact Conrad had a bag of what seemed to be the girls’ clothes was damning evidence of a plausible explanation. But Jeremiah couldn’t focus on that right now. He certainly would later. Whoever all was behind making y/n this distraught would certainly be in for it soon. But for now, he needed to simply be there for her.
Jeremiah frowned, his brows furrowed. Y/n’s eyes weren’t on Conrad anymore, but her gaze was distant again. Her shoulders shook under the boat cover beneath his hands. “Sweetheart,” he whispered, moving one hand to her cheek. “Can you look at me?” Not getting anything in response, he tried again. “Y/n, just focus on me okay? I need you to talk to me, please”.
Taylor sighed softly. “It’s been a long night, Jeremiah,” she informed him, not caring to jokingly mispronounce his name the way she normally would. “Can you both just…?” She asked, looking between the boys.
Jeremiah nodded in understanding. He accepted the corner of the cover that Belly passed his way. He nodded his head at Conrad to signal for him to do the same with the other corner. He tried to steady his breathing and calm his anger so that when y/n was done, he could be there for her. He heard the girls stumbling around behind him and Conrad as they tried to dress.
Conrad glanced nervously over at his brother with a shy remorseful expression. He nearly winced when he was met with a hesitant but sharp glare as Jeremiah shook his head.
“You’re so not going with Conrad, right?” Taylor quietly asked Belly, her tone coated in a manner that showed she was instructing Belly rather than asking.
“Taylor,” Belly whispered. When Taylor looked her way, she nodded her head towards y/n as the girl stumbled while she worked to dress herself with shaking hands and presumably cloudy vision from her tear-filled eyes.
Taylor frowned; she felt horrible for y/n. She knew how bad her anxiety had been tonight. She nodded. “Fine, Conrad it is,” Taylor agreed.
“Wh-what?” Y/n asked, feeling eyes on her.
“Nothing,” Taylor smiled softly. “Just saying we’re going with Conrad,” she answered, helping hold y/n steady as she tried putting her shoes on. “You just let your boy take care of you, yeah?” She encouraged.
“Th-tha-thank-,” y/n began, sniffling as she tried to paste on a small smile for her friend.
“‘Course, girl,” Taylor hummed as she squeezed y/n’s clothed shoulder supportively. Seeing that they were all dressed now, she smiled at the girls and nodded for them to turn around. “Okay,” she said, no longer whispering between the girls, this time intending for the boys to hear her so they knew they could lower the cover and face them again.
Jeremiah quickly dropped his side of the fabric and spun around. Once he was facing the girls, he brought his hands up and cupped y/n’s face tenderly. His thumbs delicately swiped away her falling tears as he listened closely to her breathing pattern. “You’re okay, you’re safe sweetheart,” he promised.
Taylor smiled softly. “Take good care of my girl, Fisher,” she encouraged as she and Belly walked towards Conrad’s car.
“C’mere baby girl,” Jeremiah cooed, lowering his hands and opening his arms up for y/n. He squinted when she didn’t move to enter his embrace. “Y/n/n?” He asked.
“Are you mad at me?” Y/n whimpered.
“What?” Jeremiah ask, voice ringing with the sound of his disbelief. “Why in the world would I be mad at you?”
Y/n didn’t respond. She just sniffled and stared at her feet. Her sternum bounced as she tried to keep from breaking into a crying fit.
“You know this isn’t your fault,” Jeremiah murmured, “right?”
Y/n slowly nodded. “B-but I.. I..,” she protested vaguely, her breathing becoming more erratic.
“Aye, aye, aye, breathe,” Jeremiah instructed softly, taking y/n’s shaking hands in his. “Take a breath, love”.
Y/n sniffled as she unconsciously squeezed Jeremiah’s hands as she tensed. “I.. chose to spend time with them instead of-,” she mumbled.
“Ahh,” Jeremiah whispered to himself in realization. She was worrying about how they had a small disagreement over their plans for tonight. “Nah, nah, no, shhh,” he soothed. He rubbed the backs of her hands with his thumbs. “That doesn’t matter,” Jeremiah promised warmly.
“Jere-,” y/n protested.
“No babe,” Jeremiah said as he shook his head. “You haven’t had much girl time lately, I just got jealous of sharing your time, and you,” he blushed.
Y/n smiled weakly but genuinely. “But…,” she continued, her racing thoughts having taken over her mind by now. “S-still I … I left to see them, and then had to interrupt your night, and-”.
Jeremiah curled the left corner of his mouth towards as he gazed lovingly at y/n. “You can interrupt my night any time y/n/n, you know that. I don’t mind,” he told her.
Y/n sniffled, her eyes slowly finding their way to meet Jeremiah’s gaze. “But I…, it was your day off too, and I,” she hiccuped. “I ruined your evening, and all because I was too naive to-”. .
“Shhh, no. You’re not naive, they’re just mean girls,” Jeremiah defended. He softly pulled y/n’s hands closer to him. “You got caught in Conrad’s mess. I’m so sorry for that, honey, I am,” he frowned.
“Jere, ‘s not your fault,” y/n murmured.
Jeremiah gave y/n a grateful faint smile. “I know, but still, I-” he began.
“No, Jere,” y/n argued. Her breathing picked back up. She didn’t mean to make Jeremiah feel bad over this. She sniffled as she felt her nose run. “It-it’s n-n-,” she rambled.
“Okay, okay,” Jeremiah nodded. He delicately pulled y/n’s shaking body to his chest. “Oh and by the way, Y/n,” he said, her name coated in love. “You could never ruin my evening,” he attested.
“That’s it,” Jeremiah encouraged. He stared down at y/n as she continued to cling to his shirt. “You’re doing great,” he whispered. They were still on the street that he’d driven to when trying to find her earlier. She’d slipped into a full-blown panic attack moments after the other girls were in Conrad’s car.
“N..no,” y/n argued in a hushed voice. Her grip on the fabric of Jeremiah’s shirt intensified as she tried to catch her breath. “I still c-can’t b-bre-”.
“Yes you can,” Jeremiah promised, brushing y/n’s hair back from her face. It was true. She was breathing… shallowly… but still, she was getting air into her lungs. It was the only positive thing Jeremiah was clinging onto right now. “I wouldn’t dare let you sit here with me like this if you weren’t,” he pointed out warmly.
“F-feel,” y/n whimpered. She shifted off Jeremiah’s lap, the grass under him tickling her leg as she moved. She took hold of one of his hands and lifted it up. She placed his palm over the fabric covering the left side of her upper chest.
Jeremiah frowned as he felt just how fast his girlfriend’s heart was racing. He obviously already knew it was beating faster than normal. But, feeling it himself and seeing how desperate y/n was to make him understand why she felt she couldn’t breathe was a whole other matter. He sighed sympathetically. “Oh baby,” he cooed.
“Just lean on me sweetheart,” Jeremiah instructed when y/n returned to his lap in order to hold onto him again. “I’m here,” he hummed, y/n’s head burying into the crook of his neck, “I’m here”. Jeremiah closed his arms around y/n’s back and held her to him. Maybe if he could hold her tight enough, she’d realize she was safe and secure. He needed her to know that. She didn’t need to be afraid anymore. He just wanted her to see that. To believe that.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Jeremiah told y/n. He rested his chin on her shoulder, tucking her under him even more. “I’m not going to let anyone hurt you baby, I promise,” he declared softly. “You’re safe, you’re safe, you’re safe,” Jeremiah echoed, listening to the way her breathing calmed in sync with his reassurances.
“What is it y/n/n?” Jeremiah questioned lovingly as he glanced over at her from the drivers seat. He’d felt her eyes on him and when he looked her way, he saw he’d been correct.
“Just.. Thank you,” y/n answered with a soft smile.
Jeremiah smiled and shook his head. He peaked back at the street to enter the long straight strip of road was still clear. As his eyes once again found y/n, he sighed fondly. “You don’t need to thank me”.
Y/n shrugged and chuckled quietly. She bit her lip bashfully when she saw the way her laugh brought out Jeremiah’s characteristic grin. “I’m thanking you for coming to rescue me, whether you accept it or not,” y/n stated.
Jeremiah chuckled as his eyes playfully widened before looking back at the road. “Was that a threat?” He teased and squeezed y/n’s hand.
“Mmm, if it needed to be,” y/n giggled in defense.
Jeremiah’s smile grew as he listened to y/n’s laughter. “I love you,” he vowed, looking her way as he pulled up to the last stop sign before they were home. He nibbled on his bottom lip with smug giddiness. He was pleased she was feeling much better. But he was truly proud he’d been able to turn her night around and make her smile so excitedly after everything she had been through tonight.
“I love you too, Jere,” y/n hummed, squeezing his hand tightly. “My handsome, bubbly, knight in shining armor,” she complimented, beaming proudly when he blushed. She rested her head calmly against the headrest with a tranquil sigh as Jeremiah pulled in the driveway.
“Let’s get you to bed so you can sleep, hmm?” Jeremiah suggested, putting the car into park. He quickly exited the car and rushed to the passenger side before y/n could exit. “Did you want to sleep in my room tonight?” He offered as he opened the door for her.
Y/n nodded gratefully and let Jeremiah help her out of his car. She leaned against him as he wrapped himself around her from the side to walk with her. She yawned and quickly covered her mouth with her hand. Y/n smiled up at Jeremiah when she felt him kiss the top of her head as he opened the door to the beach house. She was home and safe. Not just because they’d made it back to Susannah’s house. But because she had Jeremiah, because she was in his arms, guarded by his protective love and affection.

Words: 5.2k
(Not my Gif :))
“Are you alright?” Austin asked when I finally turned to him, the music had stopped completely but the cheers continued on. I swallowed down and opened my mouth to speak, blinking rapidly. I couldn’t speak.
Abruptly I tore myself away from his hold, it was making it hard to breathe. Panicking, looking around, no had seemed to notice my suddenly frantic behavior. The moms were busy whispering to each other no doubt about Conrad’s step up. In that moment I remember something- Jeramiah. I look in his direction, tears welling up in his eyes but with the intensifying beating of my heart and Austin’s pestering which my head had zoned out I couldn’t focus.
“Excuse me,” I said a little too loudly, startling the buzzing around me. All eyes on me. I lifted the front of my dress and rushed through the closest doors, Austin called my name and tried to rush after me, the last thing I heard was my mom’s voice “Don’t Austin, just give her a minute,”.
I wasn’t sure where my destination was, just out of that room and far, far away from both Conrad and Austin. How could I have been that stupid. I led poor Austin on thinking, hoping that I could ignore the pain and feelings that Conrad ignited in me- I was wrong.
I ended up sitting in one of the dead end hallways on a little brown couch, unsure of how much time I’d wasted fiddling around with my fingers.
“Y/n are you okay?” If I tried hard enough, I could image it was Conrad, kneeling in front of me reaching for my hand with my eyes closed it was the easier option, a game of pretend, but I had to swallow the pill.
“Jere, could you just give me a minute-” I started deciding to ignore reality a little longer, hiding my smudged face behind my hands.
“Y/n- come on we’re past that,” he came closer sitting down next to me, I could feel his arm reaching up as if he to lay it across my shoulders, but my body tensed so he pulled away. “Hey,” he began turning to me and laying his hands on my wrist to reveal my face, “Do you want to get out of here?” the teary expression from mere minutes ago gone and the childish smile back again. I laughed sniffling, a small guilty smile ending up on my face. He knew why I was upset and I was more than glad he chose to let it slip.
“We can go to the pier, play the arcade games and eat ice cream until we get sick!” He exclaimed, jumping up and attempting to pull me with him, he was managed and we ended up face to face.
“Ok,” I said after taking a deep breath, “Yeah, let’s go” I said cautiously, damn the consequences.
He looked back at me unsure, surprised, as if he didn’t expect me to actually agree but he quickly caught himself and his endearing Fisher smile returned, “I’ve left my keys in the boys changing room, meet me by the Jeep in 10” he said before rushing off.
The thing I most admired about Jeremiah was that he made everything easy, or made it seem that way at least, with him you could just get lost. I watched as he disappeared around the corner and let out a sigh, enough I told myself putting back on my heels which I threw across the hall through my wails. Enough being sappy and crying over a boy, I was better than this.
If not fully change I needed to get the running makeup off my face, so I too made my way down the corridor going the opposite way to Jere, turning right, making my way to the girls dressing room, hoping that everyone was still in the ballroom.
My hopes were fulfilled as I creaked open the door to the changing room to find it as empty as the corridors on my journey here. I took a deep breath coming to where I was sat earlier taking out three makeup wipes and rushing them over my face. Soon enough the black mascara streaks were gone and my lips were a shade lighter. It was when I yanked the last bobby pin from my hair that I heard a voice echoing outside, surely Jeremiah would just wait by the car, even so, it hadn’t even been ten minutes yet.
I dropped the wipes into the bin and flung my bag over my shoulder, the closer I got to the door the louder the voice became, it too was heading closer to me.
“Y/n/n!” it sounded, and I halted frantically searching for a place to hide in the room, you could argue there was many choices but with the poof of the white dress it seemed like more of a challenge. I tip toed towards one of the wardrobe but as I gripped onto the handle the door to the room was pressed open.
“There you are- the moms are worried sick, they couldn’t find you-” he started, and I physically felt my stomach drop, moving my hand over it as if I could keep it in place, my tongue ran over my lips and I could feel the prick of tears in my eyes. What was happening to me.
“Conrad not now” I said firmly, I couldn’t remember the last time I called him by his full name, that itself felt like a slap across the face. I couldn’t quite figure out what emotion he was masking under the stoic expression. But in that second, I realized that he had slipped away from me this summer, I used to be able to read him like an open book- but now?
“Why have you got your bag? Where are you going?” He asked noticing my overflowing bag slung over my shoulder, I shifted my stance and laid a protective hand over my bag. I didn’t answer, choosing the door instead.
He took hold of my upper arm as I tried to brush past him, his skin was calloused but his touch was soft, sending electric shocks through my limbs, forcing me to stop, I looked right into his ocean blue eyes. I would not crumble under Conrad Fisher. I was not one of those girls he led on and trashed.
“I’m leaving Conrad. Let go off me,” I demanded but didn’t move from my spot
“Where are you going? Everyone is waiting worried sick in the ballroom” he said the last word with clear distaste, even now after dropping everything to become Belly’s prince charming he was shaming the event.
“Jeremiah and I are leaving, we’ve both realized that the people we trusted most weren’t on the same page as us so what was the point?” I asked, my voice getting increasingly quiet as I spoke.
“You can’t leave, you’ll disappoint the moms, how will this look on your fancy college applications, if Paige mentions causing such a havoc in the middle of the event, have you thought about what my mom will think- say?” He asked with such hurt that I could almost believe he cared for me enough to stop me from leaving.
“I guess I’m quitting being a sheep” I said, it forced him to take half a step back, his hand still on my arm, I echoed his words from earlier on in the summer.
“Are you serious right now? Is that what this is about?” he looked confused and appalled
“No you dick this is about you and the way you’ve been behaving this summer, you’ve changed Conrad but you’ve been too up your own ass to see it. To see the way you’ve treated everyone around you, pushing away everyone that cares for you, everyone that loves you!” I conveyed sternly, my voice slightly raised, his hand fell from me now and the absence of warmth was clear. I hadn’t meant that last part to slip out of my lips, but he didn’t seem too affected by what was essentially a confession of love from me.
“We’re not kids anymore Y/n it’s time to grow up” he said after a moment looking to his feet, I bit the corner of my bottom lip and nodded, he couldn’t even look at me.
“You’re right, it’s time to grow up and see people for who they really are,” I tried to stop my lips from quivering, “I don’t know what’s happened to you but clearly we’ve reached this point for a reason- tell my mom I’m sorry and that I’m out with Jeremiah,” I said harshly turning around and walking out of the door.
“Since I’ve seem to become some messenger of yours what should I relay to perfect Austin?” he said in a mock tone, faking a deep bow now in the hallway. As he lifted back up I slapped him clean across the face- the sound echoing though the long hallway.
“Fuck you! I don’t want anything to do with you ever again Conrad Fisher” I had to say his full name, for my brain to register what was happening here. That was that. He touched his palm to his face and I turned the corner, I would be lying if I said I didn’t turn around before turning yet another corner because I did. Still, all I saw was the empty darkness. This was it, he didn’t come after me.
When I stepped outside the chilly, night breeze brought me back to life, a couple deep breaths calmed me down. I walked to the car moving my hands around in the wind to just feel alive, everything was still in a haze. Jeremiah still hadn’t made it back to the car, so I dropped my bag down and leaned against the red jeep pulling out my phone flipping through Instagram at the stories and videos people were already posting from the night.
I didn’t stop- I couldn’t stop until I heard someone approach, “Finally Jere, jeez what took you so long?” I said before looking up, but it wasn’t the younger Fisher boy that I was met with- it was Susannah.
“Here you are,” her sweet, melodical voice said approaching and standing next to me, my gaze flushed away, I didn’t need to look at her, I didn’t want to. Susannah didn’t need to see the pain and embarrassment on my face, in my eyes.
“I’m sorry I ruined this day, I know how much it meant to you and I-” the words flushed out and the tears started dripping, “I didn’t want to let you down, I couldn’t just pretend for another hour or two that I- that I- that I’m happy and perfect,” I whispered, though in the empty parking lot it still felt too loud.
I felt Susannah’s arm settle around my shoulder, her other hand lifting my face up to look at her, she was wearing a cautious smile, uncertainty glinting in her eyes. She knew what this was about, of course she did.
“You have done nothing wrong, you have not disappointed me- quite frankly I’m not sure you ever could,” she giggled unironically, “You’re my little Y/n” she squeezed me a little tighter saying that, “My little girl, the second baby” she continued cooing me.
“Is it always going to hurt like this?” I asked burying my head back into her shoulder, she brushed through my hair and sighed gently. So much for summer love I thought to myself.
“Well, you never forget your first love, a sweet spot they say, but it’ll get easier honey,” she assured me and swayed side to side with me still in her arms.
“He kissed me earlier this summer,” I said, not sure why, not sure what I expected her to reply. A simple ‘oh’ made it past her lips. I know he’s her son so she automatically rests on his side but I needed to tell someone, the secret of it was like an anchor dragging me and my tiny ship down to the bottom, the confession itself eased the weight.
“I don’t know what to tell you, I suppose sometimes our mother instincts are off,” she said into space more than to me, my brows furrowed, “I was sure Connie was smitten with you, that I would get to see you in a white dress with him by your side,” her words started getting slower and I could feel her stiffen in the embrace.
I pulled away slightly, an inkling of what she was actually saying- this wasn’t just about the ball.
“Susannah- no you, you don’t mean?” I started, she looked away from me, “It’s come back?” I whispered, as if I said it any louder it would be true. She scrunched her brows running her finger under her eye wiping a tear. She nodded. My heart stopped.
Now a river was pouring out of my eyes, my lips curled and I let out an actual wail. My body was no longer mine, I felt myself lowering to the floor without permission whispering ‘no no no’ over and over. How could I have been so blind? How did this get past me?
“Y/n/n” she whispered lowering herself to be on my level, I was rushing my head from side to side. This wasn’t happening, not now. Not again. Not ever. “I wanted one last perfect summer, just to see all the children grow and blossom, and you and Belly in your white dresses with my boys the way it was always meant to be,” she cried stroking my hair, I should be the one comforting her not the other way around. “I couldn’t have asked for more, look at you! My mini me growing up into a talented, stunning young lady whom I hope will agree to- eventually- take over at least some of my charities,” she said her voice becoming a little higher at the end.
---
I don’t remember much of what happened after that and on the way home, Susannah and I cried outside for what felt like forever before mom came shouting for Susannah about the boys, there was an argument brewing. By the time we reached the hall Conrad and Jeremiah were rolling around on the floor fighting, everyone gathering around them, gasping, a few trying to intervene.
Susannah exclaimed with tears in eyes “Stop it! Stop it right now! Both of you!”
Upon closer examination Jeremiah’s eyes too were glinting with tears again, he must have found out, he wouldn’t have missed the dance otherwise, he wouldn’t have wanted to run away so suddenly, now I understood too and wanted nothing more than run and pretend this isn’t happening. Mom held me tightly as our little lot gathered our belongings and exited the hall- the commotion we just caused.
Austin tried to get to me, talk to me but my dad kept him away, from me and from all of us- the boy was so confused, how had we let everything turn out like this. He messaged and called hundreds of times but I couldn’t look at mu phone even now curled up in mom’s arms on our couch, still trying to make sense of the news.
“But she was better, she was healthy again, this isn’t fair,” I argued with who knows what, God? The universe?
“I know baby, we’re all hurting” mom brushed my hair, she had known the whole time, right now I didn’t have the strength in me to be angry, I need her.
“She’s going to get better, isn’t she?” I asked desperately trying to hold onto something- anything, but her silence didn’t make me feel better.
The phone rang when the tears started to slow, dad had been the one to get up from our huddle to answer it, he nodded along to whatever the person was saying and an inkling of a smile inched up onto his face. How could he even so much as think of smiling right now- unless.
“Susannah and Laurel have started cooking late night dinner, everyone is getting changed and ready to sit together at the table,” he announced and I wanted to shake my head, how could I sit at a table with her, the woman I owe pretty much my whole life and love to and the other kids. Who were we trying to kid here?
So just like Susannah wanted we sat around the dinner table in the Fisher summer house, laughing, eating and breathing in the summer like she had wanted. Nothing was ever going to be the same and now looking around the table I couldn’t help but wanting to cry again- these were the people I loved most in the world and we were all here together, and I just wanted to cherish and live in this moment for as long as I could if not stay in it forever- is that how Susannah felt? Just wanting to be surrounded by the people she loved most in the place she loved most?
Then my eyes landed on Conrad who was already looking at me. A knowing passed through me. He had known, of course he’d known, no one knew Susannah as well as him no matter how much they wanted to. He was already looking at me, I didn’t want to argue, not right now when all these moments together were fleeting, there was a chance we would never be here altogether again, so I gave him a small smile. I’d be civil, for Susannah.
Maybe she was right, and her mom instincts were wrong this one time, I too always believed and hoped that Conrad and I would end up together but maybe that wasn’t meant to be. Right now I had more important things to worry about. I looked from him to the woman sat next to him: Susannah Fisher, a goddess who glowed even in the darkest of settings, she was beaming making jokes and pulling silly faces, I would forever look up to her for her incredible kindness and strength, if I could have half her bravery and strength, I would be okay, I would be okay for her.
---
Mom and dad headed back to our house after dinner because mom was starting to feel sick, but I stuck around, cuddled up to Susannah on the couch while some movie played on Netflix, Belly was on my other side with her mom beside her. The boys were on the other side of Susannah too keeping up the brave faces though tears stained their cheeks too.
It was around two in the morning when Laurel told Conrad to help take Susannah into her makeshift room, the guest room downstairs which she adopted as her own due to lack of strength to head upstairs. After tucking her in Laurel, Belly, Jere and Steven headed upstairs and it was just me and Conrad left. I didn’t look at him or say anything making my way towards the kitchen. My throat felt like a desert.
“For all it’s worth I’m sorry,” he said following behind me, stopping a few feet from me.
I shrugged my shoulders slightly and shook my head from side to side, running my hand over my forehead, “I don’t know what you want me to say Conrad?” I said genuinely taking another sip of my water before turning around, the house was silent.
“I fucked everything up this summer, I know I have,” he stopped waiting for me to speak, but what could I say? I stared at him, uncertainty in both our eyes, we’ve muddled the line between us and I’m not sure where to step next, “I did the opposite of what she wanted this summer to be, I drank every day, didn’t give her enough of my time, I was horrific person and an even worse son. And I’m sorry for what pain I’ve caused you” he whispered, his hand landing on the counter as if he needed something to support his whole body weight. My fingers ached to reach out, but I just looked down.
All I wanted him to say now was that it was meant to be us dancing together tonight, that if he could he would give everything to go back in time and change this summer, this night. Still all that came was silence.
“Do you want to know what the worst part is Connie?” I asked, my voice cracking at the nickname, looking up from the ground to him, the corner of my mouth curled in an attempt to stop the tears that have already started to fall.
“I once believed that this,” I motioned between us unable to say the word, “That this would be it, us against anything and everything thrown our way but I suppose I should have listened to my mom, she told me not to get attached especially to something we know we could never have,”. Mom was different to Susannah in that sense. While Susannah lived in a colorful world full of hope and blissful ignorance my mom felt reality a little more and as much as she too believed that I was destined for one of the Fisher boys she warned me that the matters of the heart were complicated whilst Susannah pushed me away into a dreamful, clueless boat of love.
It was clear he had nothing to say on the matter so I broached the only other subject I could discuss with him, “You knew,” I stated the fact.
“I found out that day you went shopping, mom left her phone and some number kept ringing her, it was the hospital asking for confirmation whether she was sure she didn’t want to sign up for some new round of chemo,” his voice cracked, “It was then that something had- I don’t know, switched in me. It was always us against the world, and mom knew that, she knew you were the only girl I would ever have eyes for. But you two are so close, every time I looked at you I saw my mom and her smile knowing she was right. But you- you are too much like her, both the ray of sunshine whatever room you walk into, both the voice of love and reason and I couldn’t- I couldn’t face you without the reminder of her, that I’m losing her” he looked up, “I could no longer picture watching you walk down the aisle to meet me because she isn’t going to be there for it, I could no longer imagine our summers together here throughout life without her growing old and watching us grow into adults here- I couldn’t”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked weakly, my voice just above a whisper, taking a step towards him, small but a step either way.
“I- I don’t know” a tear rolled down his cheek, eyes fluttering shut for a moment, “I felt that if I said it out loud it would mean it was real,” his voice cracked, in parallel with it a more pieces shattered in my heart for all of us.
“We could have dealt with this together, you know that,” I assured but my voice was weak too
He lifted his hand as if to bash it against the beautiful, luxurious counter but stopping himself just before his skin made contact,
“I made a mess, I’m a mess, I always manage to fuck everything up!” he created fists with his hands again, the skin tightening. He hurt himself and everyone around him in what was likely everyone’s last summer together, but this was bigger than the both of us, this was about Susannah.
He lowered himself to the ground, his red eyed shutting tight, I followed him down, my back against the opposite cabinets and pulled him towards me. He hung onto my middle as though as I was the anchor keeping him still- like he’d never let go.
I didn’t know what was going to happen after tonight, between us, between the families or to Susannah but right now it felt right to be here with Conrad, holding onto each other like stranded souls on a raft mid ocean. My head lay on top of his and he drew patterns on my arms with his fingers.
“Connie” I dared to whisper eventually, he stirred slightly lifting his head, “You need to go to bed, I need to go to bed. We need to make these last few days count and we can’t do that sore from the floor and exhausted,” I said and his hold on me tightened slightly.
Still after a moment, he loosened his hold and stood up holding onto my hand, slowly heading in the direction of the stairs, I realized where he was trying to go so I leaned away from his touch.
“Con no I can’t, you know that, too much has happened,” I couldn’t slip into this, what about Belly? I thought. She loved him too. And I couldn’t stop imagining the way they looked into each other’s eyes earlier, there was something there, I’m not sure what but I couldn’t ignore that it happened.
His eyes begged me but I didn’t budge, his raspy voice started as he took on the first step, “I don’t want to be alone tonight,” he conveyed but I shook my head. He needed me but I didn’t want him to need me, I wanted him to want me. I was willing to wait, when I started things with Austin this summer I thought I could move on but now I realize I couldn’t- that I would wait for this boy who gave me the moon and the stars no matter how long it took.
“Connie we all need time, to process everything that’s happened in the last twelve hours, we need to clear our heads.” He nodded solemnly, “We both need sleep” I sighed gently, it was one of relief that the day had come to an end, I stepped away to head to the back door.
“Wait-” Con whispered, I turned back to him still at the bottom of the stairs, “Can I give you something?” he asked and I looked at him confused raising a brow, gesturing for him to continue, “I was meant to give this to you at the start of summer but I was too much of a coward, can you meet me at the beach in five minutes,” I was about to decline, tell him we’d have tomorrow but he pleaded, the tears that were building up in his eyes making them glisten like little diamonds.
I nodded without a word and made my way to our secluded area of the beach behind the houses, the wait for Conrad to come out felt longer than it actually was, I watched the calm waves flutter on the water surface, the moon residing, observing its own reflection in the water. The night was quiet. There were no parties heard, no loud music or shouting just the calming song of the sea and soon enough Conrad’s long strides.
His hands were in the pockets of his jean shorts and my interest was piqued, whatever did he want to give me? And why was it so important that he had to do it tonight and at three in the morning.
He came to a stop in front of me, the light wind whispered into his hair slightly making it dance in the moonlight, “Before you jump to conclusions or freak out just let me finish okay?” He asked, and he meant it, his voice carried such conviction and trust. In a way his demeanor made me calm but on the other hand it made me freak out against his wishes.
We stood just facing each other for a minute before he lowered to the ground onto one knee, inside my brain everything started shouting and screaming at me to panic, freak out. He was not seriously proposing to me right now- I was doing my best to remain calm on the outside but he must have seen the fear in my eyes.
“No I’m not proposing to you calm down,” he said, smiling up at me, I relaxed a little but his words didn’t change the fact that he was in kneeling in front of me, “This is not how I wanted this to go but I suppose now it means so much more than it would have if we had gone to the pier that day in the beginning of summer” he continued taking out a small black box out of his trouser pocket.
“I bought this ring two years, the day we’d gotten back from our little camping trip and I drove you home, on the way back to Boston something in me told to stop at this little shopping center and so I did, that was when I spotted this,” he opened the box to a beautiful ring with a gorgeous little sun and moon crystal in the center, like a yin and yang symbol. “That moment I asked myself ‘what are you doing Conrad? You love this girl don’t lose her’ so I bought the ring and kept until this summer- I suppose I should get to the point, this ring is a promise that I will be a better man, for myself, for you and for our families. This is a promise that no matter what- I’m here and will love and wait for you for the rest of my days and that one day we will get married and vacation in Cousins with our families and our kids,” he was spilling out all these words and yet I’d never heard anything more beautiful, then he paused for a moment, “And if you decide this is not what you want then at least you’ll have a pretty ring that will stand as a reminder of our summers and your childhood, no one has to know what the ring is for or what it means, I just want, no need you to have this to know that I’m not completely lost after this summer, because Y/n you are the lighthouse that will guide my ship to shore in the worst of storms,” he finished and without thought I leaned my hand forward, he placed the ring on my ring finger on my right hand and I smiled as he stood up brining me into an embrace. It would be our secret
I wasn’t going to rush into anything, there was lots to figure out and Susannah was the top priority, but this was a sign of hope. I didn’t know what was going to happen from here on out but right now in this moment I felt hope that everything was going to work out, through pain and tears we would all get through to the other side together.
Susannah always believed from the moment my mom found out she was pregnant that I was going to be destined for one of her boys, and then just a little over a year later when Laurel got pregnant too Suze said that she was also destined for one of her boys. Now here I was standing wondering whether she could ever imagine the winding roads all our stories have taken us on and what we still had to overcome. Now I stood here unsure and lost but at least I was with the people I loved most, no longer missing any other pieces.

do you write smut? if you do, can you write the scene in episode 1(i think?) where belly tells conrad to quit smoking and he says "what will you give me if i do" but that it leads to smut?
and can you do it with x reader instead of belly if possible please, thank you so much :)
what'll you give me if i do? — conrad fisher
warnings: SMUT (18+, MINORS DNI!), dirty talk, fingering, protected sex, p in v.
there was a wave of fog that enveloped every girl that stood around conrad fisher, as if it was encouraging them to pluck up the courage to pass through it to try to understand what was happening to the boy, besides the silence that surrounded him wherever he was. and yet, none of them seemed to succeed. at least, not yet.
the fisher boy was sitting in the back yard, by the pool, with his feet in the water as he was lazily smoking a cigarette. something you saw him doing more and more that summer, even though that summer had just started.
being belly's cousin, the daughter of his mother's best friend, it wasn't out of the ordinary for you to spend the summer with them, although the fact that you jumped into the pool, as if was out of nowhere, caught him a little off guard.
he was staring fixedly with a cigarette in hand at the place where you had plunged into the water.
“sorry,” you murmured to him after getting out of the water, not before flipping your already damp hair back. "i haven't seen you here," you added, trying to adjust your vision, because of the water on your face.
"no problem," he replied dryly, taking another drag from his cigarette.
typical conrad fisher, you thought, as you suddenly just then noticed the fact that he was smoking, after your gaze had adjusted enough.
"since when do you smoke?” you asked him in a tone that was meant to be accusing, but it only ended up making conrad smile at the corner of his mouth, immediately after blowing the cigarette steam into the dark night sky.
"don't tell me you care," he said, running his tongue across the front of his teeth, accentuating his smile from before.
he took another drag from his cigarette, his gaze locked on you as he did so.
you didn't know what to answer.
you didn't care, did you?
but your mouth got you ahead of you and you found yourself telling him "i think you should quit."
"what'll you give me if i do?"
you didn't know what had made you stop breathing in the first place, his words or the way he let the smoke leave as he continued to have a smile on his face, this time actually looking more of a grin than a smile.
conrad knew that smoking can be attractive to certain girls, even for you —despite the fact that you had just suggested that he quit—, and he took full advantage of it.
acting on the spur of the moment, you swam the remaining distance between you and rose to the surface in just a few seconds. you put your arms on either side of his body, leaning on the edge of the pool for balance, and you suddenly connected your lips with his while he put out the cigarette.
he quickly took the opportunity to wrap his free arm around your waist to help keep you afloat, as he rushed to deepen the kiss the moment your lips parted slightly over his when you felt his touch on your wet skin, ignoring the presence of your bathing suit.
he was so good at kissing you that you were so damn grateful for his arm holding you. because if it hadn't been there, then you would surely have drowned already if you had to support yourself alone.
a faint sound left your lips as, using his hand around your waist, he pulled you all the way over his lap, lifting you out of the pool. a sound that he would've liked to hear endlessly.
only, being the wrong people at the wrong time, jeremiah and steven showed up outside the house, making a lot of noise before they noticed you, and you immediately pulled away from conrad, leaving him yearning for having you again in his lap.
you were preoccupied with looking at each other, both mentally cursing the two of them —conrad more than you—, that you didn't even realize what they were talking about. not until steven addressed conrad specifically, "come on, man, we're leaving," he said with excitement visible all over his face and conrad struggled to look away from you to look at him. "you ready?"
you weren't aware of what it was about, but it didn't matter either, because conrad was quick to turn him down. "actually, change of plan, man, i can't come tonight."
both steven and jeremiah looked at him confused.
steven raised an eyebrow. "how? why?" he asked.
conrad fisher was not a man of many words, so he just shrugged and said, "something else came up."
jeremiah and steven exchanged glances, not knowing whether to believe him or not, but neither of them would've thought that the thing that came up was actually someone and you were right in front of them. eventually they gave up and left the backyard, leaving you alone with conrad again and with a tension between you which could not be overlooked, the desire still being on both sides.
"soo," you lengthened the letter because you didn't know what to say, "good night, i think," you added and you wanted to leave, but he grabbed your hand and when you looked at him, you couldn't take your eyes off his gaze and the way you could see he was longing for you.
"good night?" he used a tone to tease you and a grin appeared at the corner of his mouth. "it would be a good night if you continued what you started."
"what?"
your cheeks flushed and you stared at him like a deer in the headlights.
oh, your naivety.
it attracted him even more that even though you were perfectly aware of what you had started, you were unaware of the effect you were having on him.
he pulled your hand so that your legs were around his lap again, placing his hands on your back, lightly forming circles on it with his long fingers, and his lips on your neck. when you felt his lips on your neck, you involuntarily arched your back and moved against his growing erection, having him gasping to try and keep his control.
"don't move," he warned you, his mouth now close to your ear as he lowered his hands to your waist to stop you.
but the area where you needed him was starting to throb and yearn for his touch, forgetting about the layers of clothing that would separate you both from making skin to skin contact.
you tried to tell him that, but instead you made a soft sound, almost like a whimper, and he couldn't resist the temptation anymore and pressed his lips to yours, kissing them as if hungrily as if he had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
and so it was.
only he knew how often it became painful to see you in a short dress or a bathing suit, making him think about how you would look without any clothing item.
during the kiss, you started to rub against him again taking advantage of his carelessness and when your pulsing core made contact with his length, your lips parted and you sent a soft moan into his mouth, right before his tongue entered your mouth and entwined with yours in a dance of desire.
you continued the kiss for several seconds, conrad completely dominating you while you tried to keep up with him.
you broke the kiss, leaning back just as you could breath and whispered under heavy breath, "we shouldn't be doing this."
"why?" conrad asked you, breathing just as hard, running his finger over your bottom lip.
"anyone can see us here," you said and you weren't phased that you saw another grin appear on his face.
"let that be our last problem,” he replied and lifted you off of him, taking you over his shoulder and covering your bottom with his hand as he slipped through the back door to go up to his room, without you two bumping into the belly or even worse, into one of the mothers.
you reached his room and he put you down, with your back to the door, as soon as he made sure he locked it, and the way he looked at you made your thighs squeeze around nothing.
"i think you should ditch the swimsuit, love, or you'll catch a cold."
you swallowed hard, looking at him as he measured you from head to toe, and you couldn't go on even though you wanted it more than anything.
he noticed your avoidance and moved closer to you, playing with the strap of your swimsuit, his breath blowing lightly heat against your skin. he couldn't be more wrong than that. there was no way you could catch a cold, even though your bathing suit was indeed still wet, when your whole body was on fire for him.
"do you want me to help you?" he whispered, brushing your hair aside with his free hand so he could see your neck.
with your breath caught in your throat, you nodded your approval and his hand lifted your chin with two fingers, bringing your lips to his.
"with words, love."
you snapped out of your trance, muttering an "yes", just to urge him on.
his hands slowly went down one strap at a time, taking his sweet time to look at your chest as it was right under his nose, and he couldn't control himself and grabbed both of your breasts with his hands, gently massaging them, drawing a weak moan from you. he ran his tongue over one of them, continuing to caress the other as he removed the entire bathing suit from your body and moved down, wanting to run his mouth over your body, but you stopped him, instinctively grabbing him by the hair to get his attention, and he could've sworn he was almost ready to finish in his pants, right then and there.
"aren't your clothes also wet after the moment before?" you asked, and he gave you a knowing smile.
he pulled away from you, the smile still playing on his lips, and he removed one item of clothing one at a time, earning a sigh from you each time. you liked what you saw.
he was only in his boxers and started to come towards you, but you put your hand on his chest, stopping him. “not fair,” you said and looked at him seriously, so he chuckled in a low tone and took them off as well, leaving you both completely naked in the moonlight that filtered through the blinds of the bedroom window.
plucking up some courage and trying not to think about how big he was, you pulled his neck towards you and you kissed him, as he pushed you back towards the bed until you fell on it. he leaned over you, continuing the kiss and helping you get comfortable between his pillows.
"are you sure?" he asked and you agreed. he moved his hand down between you and when he reached your opening he felt how wet you were and he smirked against your lips. "all this for me?" he asked teasing you but inserted a finger of his inside you, making you open your mouth slightly. "shh, love," he cooed, and kissed you briefly, earning your moans as he inserted another finger and and he curled them just right so he can touch the place that made you lose yourself under him. "we wouldn't want anyone to hear us, would we?" he continued and asked you between short kisses,
you wanted to tell him you were close, your breathing becoming alert as you followed your release. but he already knew that by the way you squeezed his fingers inside you, so he suddenly withdrew, at which point you whimpered and felt your body begin to calm down, though you still felt the desire pulsing at your core.
"i won't let you finish until you finish when i'm inside you," he assured you and reached to grab a condom from the bedside drawer and open it with his teeth as he roll it on.
you moaned in anticipation, involuntarily clenching your thighs, but he pulled them apart, making a sound of disapproval and positioning himself at your entrance. "i hope you haven't changed your mind because i don't think i can back down now,” he said, tucking a strand of hair, that sticks to your face because of the moisture on it, behind your ear as he watched you while standing on his elbows at the either side of your body. and when he met your gaze, you placed your hands on his cheeks, kissing him and pulling him back down over you, giving him the answer.
he put it inside you, waiting a bit until you squeezed his hand to continue as you both moaned at the contact, and he picked up the speed.
"you feel so fucking good," he said and your moans had become his new favorite sound, he could have listened to you all day and all evening and he would not have had enough.
he was nearing his finish, and he couldn't resist anymore, so his movements became sloppier and faster, as he lowered his hand to massage your clit in small circles to help you both finish at the same time.
the only sounds in the room were your hurried, strangled breaths, and the sounds of wetness as his body pounded inside you, until the released washed up over you both, and he fell on your chest.
"it was amazing. worth quiting smoking for," he said unexpectedly from the euphoric high he was feeling, —more euphoric than the feeling he got from smoking—, and you giggled under him, hiding your face with a hand as the other one hugged his body softly.

the after party is better than the party | j.fisher x reader
request: hi im new here and do you any imagine requests at this moment? and if you do can i request an jeremiah smut if you are okay with it btw i love your blog page and your writting thanks girl🥰🫶🏻
a/n: hi babe:) i was so excited to write this one, so thank you for the request! lots of love xx
warnings: smut (MINORS DNI!), oral (fem! receiving), mentions of alcohol consumption, swearing.
—
the loud music and the colourful led lights around the house with the red solo cup in my hands all were factors to the buzz that i was feeling. i giggled as i danced with a few girls that i just met.
my eyes travelled across the room to the wall where my golden retriever boyfriend stood with steven. steven was clearly drunk which was making jeremiah, who was the dd, laugh. our eyes connect and he offers his iconic sweet smile, he lifts the cup of water in his hand towards me as a cheers with a wink.
even though we’ve been dating for over a year, jeremiah fisher still makes my heart race and my cheeks flush with his pretty smile. i pull away from the dance floor and walk towards jeremiah and steven, stumbling slightly over my feet.
“what are you two doing?” i giggle as i approach them, jeremiah’s empty hand pulls me by my waist and holds me close to him, “hey gorgeous, we’re just chatting”
“it’s a party! you guys should be dancing with me.” i exclaim, before bringing my drink to my lips to take another sip.
the two laugh at my comment before jeremiah leans down to plant a soft kiss on my forehead, “what are you drinking?”
“probably something girly like a white claw” steven snickers while crushing his empty can and tossing into the nearby trash can. his eyes land on shayla before quickly excusing himself to go see her.
“it’s just some vodka cranberry” i answer before resting my chin on his shoulder, “you’re like really pretty.”
he smiles at me, “that’s all you, lover”
i shake my head at him before finishing my drink and throwing it out, “no, like you’re model level pretty. you know, i am so lucky to have you as my boyfriend!”
jeremiah places his hands on my hips and connects our lips. my arms subconsciously wrap around his neck and my fingers gently playing with his curly locks. his lips slowly start to travel towards my flushed cheek, then to my ear and then down to my jawline. i sigh happily, relaxing into his touch,
“do you wanna get out of here?” his whispers into my ear, “i promise the after party is better than the party”
i look up into his blue orbs, there’s a slight glimmer of lust in them and i nod, “yeah”
he grabs my hand and we walk away from the crowd of drunk teenagers. jeremiah squeezes my hand as we walk towards his red jeep wrangler. he opens the passenger door for me,
“alright, get in, my sweet girl” he tells me as i carefully climb into the seat. he pulls the seatbelt and leans over my lap to lock it in. as jeremiah straightens up, his thumb caress my cheek before pulling me into a kiss.
his soft lips make the butterflies in my stomach go into a frenzy and the slight pool in thong makes sitting uncomfortable. i shift in my seat and he notices before chuckling,
“soon baby” he promises before getting into the drivers seat.
the car ride feels like a life time as he drives us to my house, which was coincidentally across from his. his hand never left my upper thigh, his fingers drumming slightly to the music playing off the stereo,
“seems like you were having fun tonight,” jeremiah grins, “saw you dancing it up on the floor”
i laugh, “music is made for dancing, babe.”
“we also have that vodka cran to thank.” he mentions as he pulls up on my driveway.
the two of us walk into my house through the front door and head towards my bedroom on the second floor. luckily, both of my parents were away for the weekend due to needing to head back home briefly for a business meeting.
“are your parents home?”
i giggle, “no, they’re away for the weekend. so we can be as loud as we want.”
he smirks at me, “good.”
jeremiah opens my door and motions for me, i smile at him
“always a gentleman,” i say to him as he closes the door behind himself,
“anything for my girl.”
i sit on my bed and pull his wrist to sit next to me. i pull him into a kiss which quickly turns into a heated make out session. he carefully lays me down and situates himself to hover over me. our lips never disconnecting in the process.
my hands travelling from his large biceps and shoulders to his hair which i tug at, causing jeremiah to release a low moan,
“fuck that’s so hot.” i mumbled against his lips, he pulls away to remove his shirt and i quickly do the same. his eyes following my every move,
“fuck you’re so hot” he says back to me, reciting what i had just said moments ago before leaning down to kiss my neck and throat area. my hands stay busy in his locks as he sucks on a sensitive part, making me moan and buck my hips.
he licks the spot that he proudly marked me as his, “now everyone will know that you are mine.” he breathes out before continuing to kiss me down to my chest. jeremiah has one forearm supporting his weight above me, while the free hand effortlessly unclasps my yellow laced bra.
“is this okay?” he asks sweetly
no matter how many times we’ve had sex, he always makes sure that i’m okay. i nod quickly, his lips litter kisses across my chest and kisses my nipples, making me shudder from the pleasure. he eventually makes it to the waistband of my shorts, i lift my hips up so it’s easier for him to pull them down.
jeremiah plays with the edge of my matching yellow thong as me kisses my inner thigh, “fuck, baby, you’re so wet. is this all for me?”
i nod at him, pulling at his curls, “it’s all for you, jeremiah. please stop teasing.”
he chuckles, “always so needy for me.”
with that, he pulls down my thong and places a single kiss on the bundle of nerves making me moan loudly in response. i can feel his smile against my skin before he licks a long stride up my centre,
“you always taste so good,” he moans as he continues to eat me out. his tongue works his magic, sending my body into a bliss as he traces figure eights and sucks on my clit.
“jeremiah,” i cry out, tugging harder at his hair, “fuck, i’m close”
the knot in my stomach tightening as he moves faster to help me reach my orgasm, i let out a pornographic moan as he inserts two of his fingers into me. his fingers thrust quickly and harder into me making me pant.
“come on my tongue, baby.” was all that was needed before my legs started to shake and the knot inside releasing the waves of constant pleasure.
jeremiah continues to finger me through my orgasm as i slowly come down from the high. i breath heavily and brush my fingers through my hair, he smiles at me with evidence of my orgasm glistening on his lips.
he fiddled with his shorts before pulling them down with his boxers. his erection slapping his six pack, he sighs from the relief of his tight boxers. he grabs a condom from my nightstand drawer before carefully rolling it onto his length.
my heart rate and breathing patterns regulate by the time he returns back to me. he hovers over me with support from his hands that are next to my head, “ready, baby?”
“fuck yeah,” i breath out, he kisses me quickly before lining himself up. i open my legs wider for him to give better access, jeremiah lets out a low groan as he enters into me,
“holy shit, y/n, you feel so good.”
my back curves upwards in reaction to his thick cock stretching my inner walls out, “fuck, jeremiah!”
he slowly starts to thrust into me, the two of us in a panting and moaning mess. jeremiah lowers himself to get more contact with my body, our sweaty chests touching each other. he connects our lips before quickening the pace of his thrusts.
i grab onto his shoulders before slowly clawing his back, making him throw his head back in pleasure. his necklace dangles over me, this moment needed to be engraved in my memory forever.
jeremiah fisher, his built body with defined shoulders and chest muscles shining in the moonlight from my window, his head throw back which showing the small veins in his neck, and his necklace hanging in front of me.
“i’m close,” he moans out as he buries his face in the crook of my neck. i squeeze his shoulders, feeling close to my second orgasm. i can feel him feeling open mouthed kisses on my neck and his thumb rubbing harsh circles on my clit.
he kisses the edge of my lips, “fuck, i know you’re close, baby. i can feel you squeezing on my cock.”
i feel my legs starting to shake, “harder, jere”
his hips move slower but snap harder, the tip of his length hitting my sweet spot harder than before.
“that’s it, baby” he pants, “fucking come on my dick.”
i let out a high pitch moan as my toes curl, fingernails scrapping down his muscular back, and my back arching in pure pleasure. i feel myself squeezing harder around him which resulted in him also releasing into the condom.
he slowly thrusts into me while his hands brush out the hairs from my face, “you’re so amazing, y/n, truly.” he whispers before pulling out.
my muscles relax and my eyelids start feeling heavy, jeremiah soon gets up to throw out the condom while also pulling his boxers on.
i raise my head up from the pillow as he leaves my bedroom, in confusion, i call out, “jeremiah?”
within seconds he returns with two glasses of water and a warm towel. he hands me a cup and tells me to relax as he slowly cleans me up.
we both crawl under my blanket, his arm instinctively wrapping around my waist to pull me closer, “i love you, my sunshine.” he mumbles into my hair and kisses my bare shoulder,
“i love you too, baby”

this is me trying
"i just wanted you to know" "that this is me trying"
a/n: anyone else an older sibling? 🙋🏻♀️ anyways, here’s a fic for connie baby. <33
pairings: conrad fisher x fem!reader
warnings/tags: mostly angst. mention of a panic attack.
summary: you help your ex-boyfriend through a panic attack.
the fourth of july celebrations were in full swing at the fisher’s summer house. fireworks painted the sky in vibrant hues, and laughter echoed through the beach air. conrad, however, was far from the festivities, staring blankly at the ocean waves crashing against the shore.
you stood with your family near the bonfire. you had spent every summer with the fishers for as long as you could remember, and despite your breakup with the oldest fisher brother, your family's visit remained a tradition. you noticed conrad's absence and scanned the crowd, your heart sinking when you saw him heading towards the beach, his posture tense and hurried. you knew him too well; something was wrong.
you excused yourself and followed him, your sandals sinking into the cool sand. as you got closer, you could see his shoulders heaving, his breaths coming out in ragged gasps.
"conrad!" you called out, but he didn’t stop.
he froze but didn't turn around. he quickened his steps, desperate to escape the mounting pressure inside his chest. his vision blurred as the panic clawed at him, a tight, suffocating grip that made it hard to breathe.
"conrad, please!" your voice was closer now, filled with concern.
he stumbled to a stop near the water's edge, the sound of the waves failing to soothe him. he dropped to his knees, hands clutching his hair as he tried to steady his breathing. the crashing waves, usually so soothing, now felt like they were closing in on him.
you reached him and knelt beside him, your concern deepening. "conrad, what's wrong?" you asked, your voice a mix of worry and urgency.
"go away, y/n," he managed to choke out, his voice strained and broken. "i don’t want you to see me like this."
"no, you don’t get to push me away again," you said firmly, grabbing his arm as he tried to stand up and walk away. "you don’t have to do this alone. i’m not leaving you."
"just go," he pleaded, tears welling up in his eyes. "i don’t deserve your help. i don’t deserve you."
ignoring his protests, you moved in front of him, your hands gently cupping his face. "conrad, look at me. just breathe with me, okay? in and out, nice and slow."
he tried to turn away, but your grip was firm, your eyes filled with unwavering concern. he focused on you, matching his breaths to yours. slowly, the tightness in his chest began to loosen, he focused on the sound of your voice, your presence.
"that’s it," you whispered, "you’re okay. i’ve got you."
his breathing steadied, but his eyes remained locked on yours, your face was mere inches away from his. for a moment, the world faded away, leaving only the two of you. his proximity was intoxicating, and for a fleeting second, it felt like he might kiss you. but then you turned your head away, breaking the spell. you reminded yourself that you had a boyfriend.
conrad's heart sank. he knew about your boyfriend, of course. he had overheard taylor and belly asking you how things were going with him. he would never admit it, but he was jealous. of course he was jealous. he closed his eyes, trying to push the feelings away. "i'm sorry," he murmured.
"it’s okay," you replied, still holding his face gently. "just tell me what’s going on. why are you so upset?"
he took a deep, shaky breath. "it’s my mom. i’m trying, y/n. i’m really trying to hold it together for jere, but i’m so worried about her. she’s… she’s acting like everything’s normal when it’s not. y/n, she’s not getting better. the trial… it’s… it’s not working. she’s dying, y/n, and i don’t know how to fix it."
your heart broke for him. "conrad, you don’t have to be so strong all the time. it’s okay to be overwhelmed. it’s okay to be scared. you’re human."
he shook his head, tears streaming down his face. "but i'm supposed to be the strong one, the big brother. i’m supposed to be able handle everything."
you shook her head gently. "even the strongest people need help sometimes. it's not wrong for you to feel this way. you're allowed to be vulnerable. conrad, your mother is dying. it's okay to feel however you need to feel. your feelings are completely valid. it's not good for you to keep this all bottled up inside."
he nodded, his tears finally spilling over. "thank you," he whispered, his voice raw. "thank you for being here with me."
you wiped away his tears, your thumbs rubbing at his cheeks. your faces were close once more. for a moment, their was on the verge of something—an old, familiar closeness. but conrad pulled back slightly, knowing it wasn’t fair to you. he couldn’t, no, he wouldn’t hurt you again.
"i appreciate it, y/n. more than you know."
as the fireworks continued to burst in the sky, you stayed by his side, your presence a steady comfort in the chaos of his mind. you sat together on the sand, the sound of the waves providing a soothing backdrop.

can you write a friends with benefits smut with conrad fisher?
thank you for requesting! idk how i feel about writing for conrad ngl but we shall see!!
.
“We shouldn’t do this.”
“No, we shouldn’t.”
“This could complicate things.”
“Majorly.”
“We should stop.”
The boy paused, lifting his head to look up at you with a smirk on his face that made your stomach twist with anticipation. Conrad Fisher knew he was an attractive boy, with the surf-swept hair and freckled, tanned skin.
But he was even prettier when he was between your legs.
“You want me to stop?” he asked, though his amusement was clear in his voice as he leaned down to press a kiss just below your belly button.
You weren’t sure how things got so complicated with Conrad. One summer you both were friends, laughing and surfing and spending the days together until you both had to leave Cousins once again. The next summer you were pulling him into your room in the dark hours of the night, or sneaking into the shower with him before the rest of the families woke up.
It was meant to make things easier, to squash the attraction between you both that was purely physical.
You should’ve known better than to assume anything with Conrad Fisher would be simple.
“I said we should stop,” you breathed out, watching as his fingers crept up your thighs and teasingly twisted in the waistband of your bikini bottoms. “Not that I wanted you to stop.”
It had been a lazy summer day, none of you wanting to do the trek down to the beach. So, you had slept in and ate a late breakfast before changing into your swimming costumes and deciding to have a pool day.
However, what you failed to realise was that you would have to spend the whole day watching Conrad in just his swimming trunks, water droplets running down his toned stomach and tanned skin. Or that he would be giving you ‘fuck me’ eyes all day after seeing you walk out in a black two-piece that had him itching to have you all to himself.
To the defence of you both, you lasted a solid few hours before one of you broke.
The others had said they were hungry and Conrad offered the two of you to go in and whip something up. The rest were far too lazy and sun-tired to even offer their help.
That was how you ended up on the kitchen counter, your lips red and swollen from his greedy kisses, before he made his way down your body, ignoring your little reminders to not leave any marks.
“I knew you wanted this,” Conrad murmured, strands of hair falling before his eyes and you resisted the urge to push them away. “That’s why you wore this little number, hm?”
“Maybe I just liked it,” you murmured, fighting the urge to keep your eyes on him as he continued to press soft, open-mouthed kisses along the plane of your stomach and far too close to where you needed him.
“Not for me?” Conrad teased.
“Don’t start thinking I’m dressing up for you, Fisher,” you retorted, letting out a small gasp when he pressed his thumb against your clothed clit, moving in small circles.
“I don’t know,” Conrad murmured as he lifted one of your legs over his shoulder, squeezing your knee before he moved down your thigh. “I think it would be pretty friendly of you.”
You bit back your smile. “You better hurry up if you don’t want to scar any of the others.”
“You say that like I can’t have you screaming in minutes,” he shot back, a little too cocky for your liking.
“You overestimate your abilities,” you teased.
The glint in his eyes was dangerous and you should’ve known better than to challenge Conrad Fisher.
It took less than five minutes before you were squirming on the kitchen counter, his head nuzzled between your legs and his tongue lapping your soaking cunt, eating you like a starved man dying. His hands were splayed against your thighs, keeping you spread open and your bikini pushed the side as his tongue licked up and down.
“Conrad, fuck, please—” Your hands wound themselves in his hair, tugging roughly which only made the boy groan against you.
“C’mon, baby,” his words were muffled and his hands held onto you tighter as he pulled you closer. “Be a good girl f’me.”
The noise you let out was needy and high-pitched and borderline pornographic as you came on his face, holding onto the edge of the kitchen counter as you rode out the rest of your orgasm with soft kisses and gentle licks.
Conrad was grinning from ear to ear, smug and victorious with his lips and chin glistening in your release. “Told you, baby, all I needed was minutes,” he told you before lightly slapping your thigh. “Now turn around, gonna fuck you silly over this counter before the pizza is done.”
