finished crocheting a winter hat from the left over yarn from the net shirt project (i had to buy an extra skein for just like five more rows)
it turned out p good but i still have some yarn left over so i'm going to look into the yarn embroidery that others were doing at the workshop while i was deep in grommet hell
lil black on black stars could be cute
i still need to hand sew a couple strappy bits to the vest before i'll do a proper end result shoot
new projects are stirring in me but i'm holding back tooth and nail. rest of december will be for writing.
#reitzcraft#i did start the fancy shirt and the net shirt for myself#but i swear. i will get actual writing done#i got such a nice comment. they called my writing witty!!#appreciated the sentence about reigen slipping#it's so fucking stupid how finishing the damn beginning dialogue fully killed all my steam#i need to read the rest of the draft#i know it'll fire me back up#the ending is so good#i can just. really tighten up the middle

knight in shining armor!

or where ZB1 helps you out against unwanted advances!
requested: nooo
cw/genre: reader inferred to be fem on various occasions, fluff, humor, uncomfortable comments, unwanted flirting, no yujin because if they’re younger than me u know that’s crazy, cursing, established relationship w/ zb1, tell me if anything else shud be tagged yay
a/n: I’m working on all the situationship requests but it’s getting a little redundant so I decided to try writing some other ideas I had :] hope it’s ok and u enjoy!
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
jiwoong
-tbh I don’t think he’ll be super duper confrontational unless necessary, mainly cuz he doesn’t want to put you in an uncomfortable position :((
-you two were just out setting up for a picnic and he left for a second to grab something from the car, and some random guy strolled you to you ready to spit game but honestly you were already thinking of the right time to call the police
-“heyyy are u a fire hydrant because i’d bump into you on the street and stare” was the guy’s opening line which made you audibly laugh, mainly in shock and not flattery because genuinely what the fuck
-“uhhh??”
-you were very thankful for the return of your boyfriend who just shot the guy a confused glance and was like “who r u…?”
-jiwoong was genuinely appalled that this guy thought he had a chance w u, so just calmly explained you two were dating while staring at the stranger
-would really only get pressed if he noticed the guy getting more pushy and aggressive, but once he was gone he’d mainly he focused on trying to take your mind off the situation rather than comforting u :) you guys came here for a cute picnic date and he didn’t want you stuck ruminating over someone like that
-not really jealous, just mad that you were forced in such a weird situation
-u get tons of kisses and he’ll definitely be joking about this in the car
zhanghao
-you and ur lovely boyfie hao were at a new cafe trying out the seasonal menu, both of you knew the place would be bumping so you decided to just place your orders online in advance :)
-being the wonderful person you are you went to pick up the drinks while he got you two a table, and the barista stopped you with a smile
-“hey, I think you’re really beautiful, here’s a pastry on the house!” and you just smile and thank him, but he’s gone before you can even add the fact you have a boyfriend
-free food is free food so u take it back and tell hao what happened who’s gigglin because he’s very comfortable in ur guys’ relationship and this is more silly if anything, is glad other people recognizes ur beauty too <3
-however, the barista comes back to “check up on you” and is a little crestfallen at the sight of zhanghao but brushes it off
-“hey gorgeous, just wondering if everything’s alright? can I get you anything else?”
-“awww thank you, but my girlfriend and I are alright! I think you’re pretty gorgeous as well though :)” hao responded with the most witty smirk you’ve seen in ages, as you fight the urge to snicker at the barista’s seemingly annoyed reaction
-“yes…thanks” was all the barista could mutter out before leaving, causing the two of you to burst out laughing
-expect hao to be milking the joke that the barista was hitting on him instead of you for the rest of the day lolz
hanbin
-is so calm and gentle about the whole situation but takes it very seriously that you feel safe and comfortable
-it was just a waiter throwing some off-handed remarks about how nice your hair looked, or how the dress fit you so well or how your makeup looked great, and it didn’t make hanbin insecure, more worried you would feel awkward during your two’s little date :(
-neither of you want to explicitly stay anything in case the waiter was just being very nice, so hanbin would sort of up the outward affection by holding your hand over the table, brushing your hair out of your face while you talked, smiling with extra-sweet puppy dog eyes, if anything it was just giving you butterflies
-“you alright pretty girl? we can find somewhere else if the waiter is making you uncomfortable” and you wanna scream and kiss him all over because hanbin is a walking green flag !!!
-at some point the waiter gave up but you didn’t really notice because of how your heart was doing backflips over hanbin’s displays of affection and how much he evidently cared about ur comfort throughout the whole date I’m bawling my eyes out
-on the way home he admits he did get a little insecure but he was mainly worried about you so plz give him lots and lots of kisses and promise him that you are literally madly in love w him cuz u R!!
-wants to take good care of you but is extra appreciative if you remind him that you’re very thankful for his efforts I’m sobbing now bye
matthew
-“bro what” is what matthew very loudly says when a random guy walks up to you and asks for your number
-is genuinely baffled because he thought it was pretty clear with his arm wrapped around your waist as the two of you walked down the street
-also a sense of pride that you’re so hot that someone’s willing to stop you in the middle of the street for your number, but the pride is damaged once he remembered this guy seemed to completely ignore *the* matthew?? who was evidently holding you close and wearing your initial around his neck?? like hello???
-the conversation doesn’t feel real because you say, “oh I have a boyfriend!” while gesturing towards matthew and the guy literally just brushes it off??
-“dude, I’m right here, can you get the hint? go homewreck another relationship,” matthew interrupted after an unbearable minute or two of this man trying to convince you to slide ur digits ;P
-is all grumpy while muttering about how you two need to be more LOUD about ur relationship
-probably tries to convince you to buy those “I <3 MY BOYFRIEND shirts and even thinks about getting you two more matching clothing
-“maybe I should wife you up?? the ring should be a pretty convincing hint…”
-just doesn’t want random people to get in the way of you two :(( in the least toxic way possible :((
taerae
-audibly laughs the second he sees some random guy stumbling over his words trying to talk to you at the grocery store
-he went to go grab you two some snacks and came back to this poor boy just frantically trying his best to convince you for your number while you awkwardly nod and sheepishly smile, eyes flickering around to try and see where the hell your boyfriend is
-if he notices you’re genuinely weirded out by the guy he’ll step in, but I feel like he would let you endure the awkwardness for just a moment before arriving by your side and being like “heyyy baby”
-makes a big show of kissing your temple and wrapping his arms around your waist, giving the guy a disgusted look and a sassy, “who’s this, sweetheart?”
-you’re trying not to laugh at taerae’s snide demeanor, making you immediately feel all giggly and okay again knowing he’s right here by your side
-the guy scurries off pretty fast, which made the two of you giggle
-“I can’t even leave my girlfriend alone in a grocery store,” taerae jokingly sighed, shaking his head solemnly. “Maybe I should switch to DoorDash or something, I don’t want you getting swarmed every time I go to the chips aisle.”
-makes sure to hang closely around you, not in a jealous way or anything, but he doesn’t want random guys walking up to u and making u all uncomfortable :(
-holds your hand all the way until the two of u get home!! <3
ricky
-he can shy up but he’s mainly just worried about you, gets a little protective but feels very awkward about it, doesn’t want to seem possessive or over bearing but also just wants to take care of u and makes sure ur safe :(
-but also like wtf no one gets to mess w his girl that’s just weird
-you two were clothes shopping when you wandered off to look at a pretty jacket you saw when a random guy you’re very sure you never met casually greeted you like you were an old friend, making weird remarks about how pretty you were and not so subtly asking questions that insinuated if you were single or not
-ricky comes back to see if ur doing alright and finds u very uncomfortably scooting away from this random guy, and he immediately comes to ur rescue!
-“hey baby, who’s this?”
-now we all know ricky is a sweetheart but he can also come off as very intimidating 😰😰 , so he’s sorta just straightening out his posture and staring at the guy in disgust
-once the guy leaves because…yknow ricky is seemingly a force to be reckoned with ricky gets all shy and awkward
-“was that corny? should I have even stepped in? r u okay…?” and he’s just shyly hiding ur face in his shoulder and getting all embarrassed and flustered, and u reassure him u appreciate his efforts very very much <3
gyuvin
-gyuvin can be very protective over you sometimes so the idea of you being forced into an uncomfortable situation by some random guy made him very upset
-honestly he was kinda more upset than you, and not in an insecure way but just in the way he was upset *for* you
-guys imma be fr I’m out of ideas for a random dude being creepy so let’s just cut to gyuvin confronting this dude
-he’s not really confrontational or aggressive, but just makes it very clear to leave his little baby y/n alone </3, afterwards he definitely lightens the mood to the best of his ability
-he’s more worried the entire time about your safety over his, even if the guy making advances towards you is getting agitated gyu is entirely concerned about ur well-being :(( my angel
-“baby don’t worry…ur alpha is here for u 😚😜🐺…” “gyuvin shut the FUCK up”
-obviously if ur feeling seriously upset he makes sure everything’s ok, asks if you need anything, gets you some snacks and gives u a big hug
-is unnecessarily clingy the rest of the way home tho <3 might even bark at any guy who looks at you funny depends on how shameless he’s feeling
gunwook
-he isn’t too hasty to jump in just in case he’s overestimating the entire situation, because poor guy doesn’t wanna come off as overbearing and freak you out by randomly swooping in for no apparent reason </3
-does his absolute best to be assertive but also not overly aggressive in order to avoid causing a scene and put both of you in an even worse situation
-once he’s sure there’s no more need for intimidating wook he’s all over u!!
-“are you ok? do you want me to tell authorities about that? can’t fight but I will if necessary trust”
-if u reassure him that he did good and you’re alright, he’ll be very very pleased w himself
-gives you a kiss every time you take a step and has his arms wrapped around your shoulders, he wants everyone to know that ur his and he’s yours and no way will he let any random guy ruin ur little outing!!
-does your best to make you feel safe the rest of the entire day
-has the biggest smile on his face if you tell him he did a good job, it’s not in a weird way where he’s putting himself above you but sorta in the way he feels like a proud dog for being able to take care of you?? if that makes sense?? at all??
-gives you a big hug when u gets home and does everything to make sure that rando didn’t ruin ur twos’ day :,)

I HAVE A THOUGHT ABOUT TAN AND I CAN'T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD
Imagine brothers best friend Tan, who you haven't seen since high school. Imagine running into him on the train, and he recognises you but you don't recognise him. Imagine him telling Lemon about you, because he liked you back then, and someone overhearing and using you as leverage to get tan to hand over the briefcase
imagine tan giving them the briefcase, getting you out the way and then shooting them before turning back to you and reminding you of who he is. Imagine both of you realising that feelings are still there for each other. Imagine him getting your number and calling you to arrange a date once he got of the train. Imagine tan being fine, and actually calling you and coming for you.
Can't get it out of my poor fluff ridden brain and I just cannot please please help me
K thx byeeeee <3333
love your blog btw ur works are so good and I feel like if anyone can write this it's youuu :D
love LOVE this!! here is my elaboration 💌
all a big ramble, hope it makes sense
PAST BROTHERS BEST FRIEND.
that is just the sweetest???
and bc of the whole thing about him being your brother's friend, neither one of you could express your feelings. and then years go by and you push off those feelings etc etc
and then he sees you on the train in present time and he feels like he got shot back into the time of when he was a teenager and he realises he never actually really, truly got over you. maybe he walked past you and like a few seconds after he's like "wait. no fucking way" but maybe he can't go back to see you bc lem is waving tan over through the doors. so then he's talking to lem about how you're on the train and how he hasn't seen you in years
and he's kinda gushing about you (he was infatuated with you in his teens) so he's just reliving it a little bit (tan and lem have temporarily switched rolls in the blabber mouth department)
they forget where they are (also they have no regard for the rules of the quiet car) so someone overhears and wants to use you as a trap to lure the twins into giving over the case
maybe you're held by the someone with their arm around your neck and you see tan in front of you for the first time since you were also a teen (you were infatuated with him too) and he looks pissed and has his gun pointed at the someone. and maybe the someone threatens him with you and he's just getting more and more pissed so he kicks the case over and when they bend to pick it up, he shoots them in the head. you run over to him and hug him (he's a familiar face and you kinda need some comfort after that)
and he's checking you're okay and has his hands on the side of your face looking you over etc etc. he tells you to get off at the next stop bc shit is going down (he doesn't want you getting hurt) and he can't leave the train til the jobs done. he says how you should give him your number so he can check you make it away safely ;) but he's kinda playful with it, kinda flirty
and when the train 'stops' more like crashes in that little town. the first thing he does is call you. he's wedged between chairs and he's on the floor all twisted and immediately reaches into his pocket for his phone. he's all like "just checking in on you" and bc he's all out of breath and panting a tad (bc the train crash) you're asking if he's okay. and he doesn't want to be a worry, he's all like "yeah, the train just crashed. no biggie"
then he untangles himself and stands, he's like "don't suppose you got a few spare hours. would be nice to catch up" and he's being so smoothly casual about asking you out as he hobbles off the train
and then now bc the past relationship dynamic confusion thing (maybe your brother and tan are no longer friends) you want to actually refeel those feelings you did all those years ago. so you say no and ask if dinner tonight is better, and make a witty comment about how it gives him time to clean up and get patched up
and he just chuckles and he says how he'll pick you up from your hotel at 7 and to wear something casual. maybe he has an idea of a date he would've done years ago if was allowed to ask you out (you were off limits)

Hi everyone,
I know it's been ages and some of you have probably seen this notification and have hoped that this means the fics on this page will be updating, however, I've got some bad news.
This blog was a joint account between two friends who loved creating silly stories of some of our favourite characters in our free time and gushing over character details with one another. Beyond tragically, my friend, the co-runner of this account, passed away a few months ago. Obviously, I'm keeping the details private, but it was sudden and unexpected.
I know this is a shock to all of you, and not what you were expecting to hear after such a long hiatus. Understandably, I've not been active on tumblr, particularly this account, since. It's felt incredibly wrong to login to this blog and even attempt to re-read some of the stuff posted or your comments/tags, especially without her to talk to about all your lovely messages. She really did love reading them, and we'd call for hours to laugh and talk about your kind messages.
Although I acted as what you'd call the 'face' of this account, actually posting, reblogging, commenting and following others, she was integral to the heart of this account, to the ideas and writing and editing that made this account what it is, and I don't want to continue posting heacannons/one-shots/any kind of creative writing on this blog without her. This was our passion-project, and a massive chunk of it is now missing.
I just wanted to let you guys know what the situation with this blog is and why, and I wanted to give a massive thank you from both of us for being the most supportive, kind-hearted, and tight-knit community we'd ever had or seen on Tumblr before. The fact we even had fan-art made of our writing goes to show how dedicated and incredibly talented this fandom is, how supportive and just genuinely excited everyone is to hype each other up and lift each other and appreciate all our passions. It's genuinely insane, and so rare in modern internet spaces.
Regarding the future of this account, because I don't want to leave unfinished fics floating around the website, and for personal reasons, I will be transferring all fics/one-shots over to AO3, marking them as incomplete, and 'orphaning' them. I've really debated this decision, and I believe it's the one she'd be most happy with. I'm just giving you guys fair warning, I'll wait a few weeks before I actually do anything. I don't know if I'll delete this blog, I'm rather attached, but I won't be active for a while.
Probably most importantly, if anyone wants to take our ideas or our unfinished fics/one-shots and complete them/edit the story/adapt our head-cannons/incorporate them into your own fics, please do. I think it'd be nice to inspire and help other fic writers, and see the ideas carried on in whatever way you guys choose. Everything on this account is effectively 'orphaned' already, so feel free to do whatever you want with it :).
This is getting long, but I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent in requests, funny comments, little anecdotes, and witty one-liners into our messages/asks, both that we did and didn't respond to, especially lately. We planned to do a great return to this blog after our exams responding to them all/clogging up your feeds. Someone even called us their 'favourite niche internet micro celebrity', and we both found it hilarious.
There's no gofundme or anything like that set up. Sometimes, things just don't go as we plan and there's nothing we can do. If I've learnt anything from this godawful situation, it's that you should do whatever you want as soon as possible. Don't wait to join that club. don't wait to take that trip, don't wait to watch that show, don't wait to visit friends or family, don't wait to begin doing a hobby that you think you'll love. Anything can happen, and the only time we know that we have for certain is now. (Master Uguay was right in Kung Fu Panda after all).
I won't be active for a while, but I'll check in to see how this post is doing now and again, and I'll probably post again just before I begin taking things down.
Thank you guys, and I hope you don't dwell on this post too long.
#yep#still don't know how to end this#thank you all again#for anyone who wants to know im doing fine thank you#grief is a funny thing#but things get easier#and people keep living

PS: Tysm for everyone that reads what I write, I hope I can bring a smile to your faces every time I post! I'd like to thank whoever sent me this idea 'cause I loved to write it <3
__________________________________________________________
It was a Friday evening, and the members of TWICE were excitedly discussing their plans for the night. They had been working hard, promoting their latest comeback, and they were looking forward to some well-deserved relaxation. However, the thought of leaving Y/N alone for the entire night didn't sit well with them. The girl was the youngest member of TWICE, still just 14 years old, and they wanted to ensure her safety and make sure she had a good time too. With that, Jihyo, as the leader and mother number 1 (lmao), came up with a brilliant idea. She knew the members of fromis_9 and believed they would be the perfect company for their kid. She called up Jiwon, Jisun, and Jiheon and explained the situation. The fromis_9 members were more than happy to help out, seeing it as a chance to bond with TWICE and take care of their cute maknae.
When TWICE informed Y/N about their plan, she felt a mix of anxiety and curiosity. She didn't know the fromis_9 girls well and wasn't sure if she would be comfortable spending the night with them. She expressed her concerns to her Omma Jihyo, who reassured her that the fromis_9 members that were coming (and the ones that weren't too but that's not the case lol) were kind-hearted and would take good care of her. As the night approached, the maknae found herself at the dorm where fromis_9 stayed, it was nice and cosy. She was greeted by Jiwon, Jisun, and Jiheon, who welcomed her warmly. Jisun, with her gentle smile and caring demeanour, reminded Y/N of Jihyo in some way, maybe the motherly vibe (Jisun is the mom in Fromis_9 so it makes total sense and I love it sm). Jisun sensed TWICE's sunshine's nervousness and immediately went out of her way to make her feel at home.
Jisun - Hey, cutie! Don't worry, we're here to make sure you have a great night. Let's start by ordering some of your favourite food and getting comfortable.
Jisun sat the younger girl down and asked her about her hobbies, interests, and dreams. They discovered their shared love for singing and dancing, and Jisun encouraged Y/N to pursue her passions wholeheartedly.
Jisun - You're so talented, kiddo! Don't be afraid to shine and follow your dreams. We'll always support you.
TWICE's angel couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and security in Jisun's presence. It was as if she had found an older sister in her, someone she could confide in and look up to. Meanwhile, Jiheon displayed a calm and collected personality that reminded the maknae of her Tzuyu unnie. She was quiet but had a mischievous spark in her eyes. Jiheon had a unique way of making Y/N laugh, her witty comments always made her giggle. As Jiheon began to speak she pulled out her phone.
Jiheon - Hey, sis, let me show you something cool.
She started playing a funny video, and soon both of them were laughing uncontrollably. Jiheon's fun-loving nature instantly drew Y/N closer to her, as she began to see her as a cool and funny older sister figure. They shared stories, jokes, and silly dance moves, creating a bond that would last beyond that one night. Lastly, there was Jiwon, who had a playful and loud personality that reminded Y/N of Dahyun and Nayeon. Jiwon's energy was infectious, and she had an incredible talent for making any situation fun and exciting. pulling out a colourful game from the shelf Jiwon spoke excitedly.
Jiwon - Honey, let's play a game! I have this board game that I've been dying to try. It's going to be so much fun!
Jiwon initiated various games and challenges throughout the night, ensuring that the youngest was fully entertained. They laughed, cheered, and celebrated each other's victories, creating a lively and upbeat atmosphere. As the night progressed, Y/N started to feel more at ease in the company of Jiwon, Jisun, and Jiheon. They listened to her stories, shared their own experiences, and created memories together. She soon realized that she didn't want this night to end, so she begged Jihyo to let her stay longer, hoping to spend more time with her newfound friends.
Y/N - Please, Jihyo unnie! They're so much fun, and I feel so comfortable around them. *puppy eyes*
Jihyo, being the responsible leader she was, gently declined her child's request. She explained that it was important for Y/N to have a consistent routine and a stable environment. Jihyo promised that there would be more opportunities in the future for the maknae to spend time with Jiwon, Jisun, and Jiheon. Though disappointed, Y/N understood Jihyo's reasoning. She bid her farewell to her fromis_9 sisters, thanking them for their kindness and promising to meet again soon. As Y/N left the dorm, she carried with her a heart full of gratitude and cherished memories from that one unforgettable night. Little did she know that in the years to come, she would cross paths with Jiwon, Jisun, and Jiheon once again. They would all become even closer friends, sharing laughter, tears, and dreams together. But for now, the girl returned home, feeling a sense of growth and gratitude for the precious bond she had formed with the members of fromis_9. And as she remembered everything when she laid in bed, she could only have one thought:
I am proud of our dear family.
A/N: I apologise for any errors, English is not my first language. Pls, let me know if there's something wrong, ty for reading <3

I'm less sick today, so that's cool! Anyway, time for
The Outsiders Reread : Chapter Two Notes
I could read a whole book of no plot, just them dicking around at the drugstore and gossiping with random people they knew. They mention that it happens, but there's zero detail
Slice of life Outsiders, please???? For me?????
I just want more details on everything. "[Whoever] cussed him out" "Dallas was talking dirty" etc. I want QUOTES. I want to hear someone call someone every name in the book, I want to know how nasty the sexual harassment got. (I lowkey want to know if it's worth being impressed over or if I could outdo them)
I know, I know, leave shit to the imagination and less is more. Shut up, I want it SPELLED OUT for me.
I want it in the pov of someone shittier. Also. Like, glad Ponyboy is like "that kind of kicks just doesn't appeal to me." (in reference to harassing women), but C'MON, I read for ENTERTAINMENT VALUE, give me something to be shocked by!!! Entertain me!!!!
"It's a shame you can't ride bull half as good as you can talk it." I love Cherry. I know I've called her boring before (she is, I think she's a boring character, sorry), but that's a line. Respect, ig. That's, like, the best she's got, so I'll mention it. As well as the throwing that Coke in Dally's face, obviously.
Modern!Cherry DEFINITELY strapped w that stun gun, tell me I'm lying, bitch would not hesitate.
Marcia is autistic because I'm autistic and I said so, btw. Not sorry.
Also, to all yall making headcanons that Dally would treat a CurtisSister!Reader like he does Cherry, "When Steve's cousin from Kansas came down, Dally was decent to her and watched his swearing. We all did around nice girls who were the cousinly type." He would be base-level respectful (I still don't think he'd be great, but--) and if he knew them better he'd be more friendly, stop writing them to harass them, bro. Some dirty comments, probably when they're closer, but straight harassment is probably a no.
Why do people even glance at Cherry when Marcia is RIGHT THERE?? My girl, is SWEAR TO GOD.
I headcanon/interpret all of her lines in a dry deadpan. Like, she says these funny-ass jokes monotone as hell and it's hit or miss with whether people get it. Not even sarcasm (in tone, it's objectively sarcastic comments), just dead toned witty humor. Serious as can be, saying the craziest things, and most people just don't get that she's kidding but goofyass Two-Bit does and obviously so digs it.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by: @windwardstar. Thankie, Osie. (一一)7 Questions and answers put under the cut.
--------------------------
How many works do you have on ao3?
Um. (goes to check) 14.
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
1,084,241.
...That's bigger than I thought.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, Fate/Grand Order and related. Trying to get back into Naruto for specific reasons. Still slow at that one.
4. Top five fics by kudos
1. Passing Days 219 2. Civilian Pianist 200 (which is amazing to me considering how it's incomplete and not fully matching the FFN version yet) 3. The Sea and Stars 88 4. Seaside Sibling Train 83 5. The Girl Singing Alone 68
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes. I do. I do my best to get responses out within a day or two, but sometimes, work, people, and a mix of both make it so replies are delayed. Also being used to some comments being a mix of "why didn't you write this" and "read this to like this one character better." Damn it Fate fandom.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Uh. (stares at AO3 works) Some short stories in Small Sparkles that involved Tomoko nearly dying or actually dying? That's really it. Angst is why Lang told me to cut down the old Danganronpa crossover way back and I'm glad I did.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Maybe all of them? Because I do want to keep giving happy endings. Least I can do.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
(stares at all the previous anons and guest reviewers who tried to get me to like Wodime and LB7 onwards for Fate/Grand Order) Yep. That's why my AO3 works are all locked to registered users only. Keeps the bullcrap out.
9. Do you write smut?
No. I tried once, didn't get into the actual act, only implied it, and immediately mentally combusted afterwards. Friends were very nice in encouraging me and being supportive.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No. Thank goodness for that.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. It'd be nice if someone did. I remember back when I was exclusively writing Civilian Pianist in my college days that someone asked about translating it into Spanish. Never saw more than that. Don't remember if they even got around to it.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
If you count me asking Os/@windwardstar and @langwrites for help in writing Kei and co in The Sea and Stars, yes! Also, there was Silent Feathers. Kinda went places.
13. All time favorite ship?
(squints) ...Do I gotta choose? Because I don't have an all time favorite.
14. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
...Civilian Pianist. I really want to go back to it, I do, but a combination of Boruto sucking ass whenever I try to look up reference, family deaths, and my own changing writing style means I'm floundering a bit. Still want to go back. I mean that much.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Per @partialdignity and @lovingempress, last I checked - fluff, exploring emotion, and hurt/comfort. Which I'm more than happy with considering I wanted to write for all three.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Fight scenes (thanks for passing your weakness down, Lang), angst, and occasional bouts of witty banter. Still working on all three. Some of my best Fate chapters I wrote from the memories of toxic work environments, racist things people have called me on public transit, as well as uncomfortable real life things, and I think it says something when my partner has to call me and distract me with talk about Kamen Rider to get me out of the dark corner because I can dive deep.
17. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I've been trying to use that sort of thing more in Passing Days since the little bits of Vietnamese I sprinkle in make Master Vy - and by extension the Chaldea I write for - so much bigger in how the Servants try to interact with a Vietnamese Master. It helps me look up and practice saying the accents I've always struggled learning with my parents when I was little too. Still a work in progress, though, but it's fun!
18. First fandom you wrote in?
Yugioh GX. On a word document that's long been deleted because old family laptop, middle school me writing, and being very embarrassed by it.
19. Favorite fic you've written?
Honestly, it's coming up to Passing Days even though I've poured a lot into every story I've written. Because Fate/Grand Order has so many characters, shaped up by the story and my own experiences playing through the story - writing out things that could've happened or interactions I wish could've played out help me challenge myself. Push me outside my "fluff/comfort" bubble.
Because not everyone takes nicely to the tiny stubborn Vietnamese girl who wants to fight for her family. It's a good personal challenge.
20. Tagging: @partialdignity (who was mentioned earlier), @abalisk, @teddog, @tackypies. And anyone else who would like to. This is for fun and totally optional. :)

Something I Read - The Eighth Doctor Strips
So, while I haven't (yet) heard all of Eight's audios, there are only a handful left. And I have started reading the books (going through Kursaal right now. You can find my commentary of the books on the 'bookshelf' tag). So, while I have a lot to go through, I wanted to start something new, different, exciting.
And so I decided to read the Doctor Who Magazine comics. And what a ride it was.

To make it easier for me and to write a cohesive text, I'm going to talk about individual stories and then at the end of each volume comment upon the overall arch.
Endgame, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
It's not a bad start, but not my favorite. The Toymaker is a fun concept but his stories are very inconsistent to my tastes. Here, he is fine. The comic is smart in the sense that the use the format to its fulliest, allowing the Toymaker to be as cartoonish as ever - and it fits.
And even tho there is a comedic tone, he still comes off as a threat. There is a gruesome scene where he crushes a character bones and flesh. You can feel the pain. I usually do not like when a new companion is introduced in a continuity heavy story as I think it takes atention away from them.
Izzy is great. She is a geek, she is witty, she wants adventure. She is flawed, I couldn't help but wince at how selfish she sounds when she talks of her parents - which she has been fighting with over insecurities about being adopted. She doesn't even call them mom and dad anymore. And that makes her come alive. She is a breathing, living person. And we have a wonderful journey ahead in a yellow brick road.
The Keep, by Alan Barnes - ★★★★☆
The comics got me here. Endgame is nice and all, but it's The Keep who starts playing with bold new ideas for the stories. I got a glimpse of what I could get out of these and I loved it. I was all in for the ride.
Eight and Izzy arrive at the far, far future, near the time the sun is failing and soon enough it will be no more. It's Earth dying days. It's a wasteland. The whole planet turned into a warzone as the Transmat Wars begun - a concept never fleshed out but engaging nonethless.
What's more interesting, though, is that a local scientist have dedicated his whole life to building a superficial star. It had unexpected consequences, as it turned out that it's actually alive. Eight is nedeed so someone bonds with the star, guide it towards the right path. Crivello, the scientist, tried - but even short exposure to the star was enough to make him age years in a blink. A time traveller - even better, a time lord - is needed.
I find the scene Eight merges with the plasma beautiful. This incarnation more than any other feels to me like a force of nature, a constant to the universe, and so I'm always on board when he is influenced by forces outside his control - and vice-versa. Izzy gets anxious and cries, because the Doctor may have died, and it finally hits her that if he does, there is no way back home - for now the narrative don't dive into this topic, but it's a nice touch still.
And then the story takes your breath away, as when everything seems nice and done, Crivello is brutally murdered by his assistant.
Fire and Brimstone, by Alan Barnes - ★★★★★
I did not want a Dalek story, but I am glad I got one because this one is great. It continues the plot points left open at the end of The Keep, as Izzy and Eight visits the same place decades later. The new artificial sun is now stable, but there is a threat in the horizon.
I love that plasma from the Cauldron can be used to see the future, and I love that Eight still have a link to it because they'll always have a bit of each other. I really like the wasps weapons (biological?) the Daleks use to control the humans. It's horrifying, it's disgusting, it looks great. It's truly unsettling, the panels of characters vomiting hordes of insects after infection.
The Daleks are a real threat this time around and it makes perfect sense that they would try to irredicate genetic variants from other dimensions. It's a pity that we see little of that conflict, because the mutant Daleks looked GREAT.
I was devastated that the Cauldron imploded at the end. It all ends considerably well, but there is a wild sorrow of knowing that a whole new lifeform died. I love a rich diverse universe, and I want it to last. What is even more bitter, though, is Eight's silent rage that he can't right now strike back at the Threshold - you can tell by looking at his face in the last page how furious he is over Ace.
Tooth and Claw, by Alan Barnes - ★★★★★
The superior Doctor Who's Tooth and Claw, mind you. I loved this. It's a horror story at heart. The Eighth Doctor and Izzy are pulled into a murder mystery plot in an isolated, atmospheric isle as one old acquaintance of his, Fey, call for his help. And then the guests start dying, one by one.
It's fun, it's believable and it's the kind of horror story I am always open to. Conflict comes not only from the apparent supernatural menace, but also from humans interactions - Marwood hunting Izzy is terrifying, the human ability to be more frighting and cruel than any fictional villain ever could.
Which is not to say the fictional villain is bad, because it only gets better. From the start we are told of a local ghost; then we have bodies on the house and killer monkeys; and yet we also get bottle diseases and vampires. And it all ties well together. This is an island of terrors, ever entertaining.
It ends on a huge cliffhanger, with Izzy and Fey taking Eight to Gallifrey to help him recover from what may well be a mortal wound.
The Final Chapter, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
Reading the extras I was surprised by how harsh Barnes was with this story - it's not bad at all. Yes, a lot of its themes and plot points were better fleshed out in Neverland, but it's good for what it is.
I love the scene where Eight meets Rassilon and a whole council in his dreams. Demoiselle Drin says she has taken the seat of Merlin the Wise, and given that the Doctor himself is Merlin I wonder about these implications. I love villain Rassilon - but it's refreshing to a seemingly well meaning version of him, too. I wonder, also, as Eight is in the Matrix, if this is the same Rassilon of Zagreus. It's fun to try and fit all these piece of a jigsaw never meant to be completed.
The clone plot is not that enganging, but as Eight and Fey explores "madworld" to try to understand what the hell is happening, I was wondering if a bit of this went into Seven's part in Zagreus, with little rat Charley. And that's the main problem of this story. Ideas better realised elsewhere. A group of time lords trying to gain control of Gallifrey and rewrite its history? Neverland. A kind-of time cult? Faction Paradox. Weird surrealists scenes in the Matrix and timelords' minds? Zagreus.
The regulars are great, and the story is engaging enough. Also, the cliffhanger of a lifetime.
Wormwood, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
This was fun and a great conclusion overall to the Threshold. It's not what I was expecting and while that sometimes oes play a role in how much I like a story, this one has ideas strong enough so that it didn't really matter.
I wouldn't say this story is mocking the Briggs-Doctor, but it does play with the readers expectations in that way in a time we only had the expanded universe. Of course I already knew Eight wouldn't be regenerating while reading these comics so it didn't hit me in that way, but it was fun nonetheless. What I thought, however, is that this would be a retroregeneration or something alike, so I was very much pleased to known that it was actually Shayde playing as the Doctor.
I'd have preferred if the Threshold were actually a natural ocurrance of the universe and not a fabricated species made mainly of humans buuuut as I said previously this is fine. I also wished to a darker motivation for them other than greed, but that's also fine. What I do like a lot is the terror that went through my body when they killed everything in space - and I wish it was not reversed at the end. Not only it would weight upon the characters, but also would be so interesting to see how the whole universe would handle something like this.
We have a glimpse of that kind of horror, of whole civilazations colapsing, but I wish we got some time to explore this idea fully.
Shayde is ine of my favorites things about the comics. It's an amazing concept brought to life wonderfully and that gets even better when coupled to Fey, who is also amazing. How they handle their new status quo is not explored here but rather in future stories, but I do have to say that I love it.
Happy Deathday, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
It's a fun anniversary story. All these Doctors interacting is great.
The Fallen, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
I'm not the biggest fan of Grace, mostly because I don't see many ways to use the character interestingly. Well, The Fallen does it wonderfully. There is something wrong in London and Grace is somehow at fault.
I love her relationship with Eight. It's still a bit sexual - they do kiss once more - but honestly it doesn't bother me. I do not share the opinion the Doctor should never engage in romantic or sexual relationships, I just want it to have meaning.
Grace is repenting for her faults. She thought she had a special future ahead of her beacuse of what she was told in the movie, but now she helped creating a huge danger that is getting people killed. She resents the Doctor in some ways, that he wasn't there and feels like he mislead her. She calls him out when he gets angry with her - he out the world in her hands and left her and she didn't known better.
Izzy and Eight at this point are already the dream team. Their domestic scenes are great and this time around Izzy is alone for a bit - the Doctor believes her dead. She is growing up and have already come a long way around, which is one of the main themes of her stay in the TARDIS. She is in a way a mirror to Ace - completely differente character, yes, but I mean in how she fits as a companion.
She is a sapphic character with parents issues, her stories can be read as a coming of age and her relationship with the Doctor is a bit paternal. Just like Ace. The first big arc of stories with Izzy as a companion handles the Threshold, who are responsible for Ace's death, so I don't think I am completely out of my depth when I say that this era of Eight mirrors Seven's life.
Unnatural Born Killers. by Adrian Salmon - ★★★★★
I love Kroton. If you don't love Kroton, there is something wrong with you. Seek help. This is not his introduction, he appeared on the magazine twice before - both good stories, but Ship of Fools is a must read. He is tragic to the core and deals with a concept that I love and wished to see more in Doctor Who: a faulty Cybermen, who kept this emotions.
I am happy to dicovered the expanded universe because now I have three plots like this to feed my fictional needs: Kroton, Marc and Bill. So that's no longer a problem. But I would love to see more of Kroton - it's such a pity that these stories don't leave much room to have him along Eight and Izzy because they are absolutely one of my favorites TARDIS teams ever.
Unnatural Born Killers get Kroton - already well established - and makes him even better by making him an action hero. The art is beautiful and I love every single fight scene of his. Also, he punches some Sontarans in the face. I love the guy.
The Road to Hell, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Izzy and Eight get to 17th century Japan, where creatures from the myths are terrorizing local population. Sato Kitsura is a samurai who just lost his lord to a demon and now seeks revenge upon these creatures.
I am a sucker for stories of fictional characters or monsters being real, so we already started strong. I also love historicals, so that's two points for The Road to Hell. And while I do prefer them to be pure historicals, I actually love how this story handles its sci-fi elements.
An alien species gave a local lady a machine that allows her to make anything alive out of her thoughts. They only wish to observe what she makes of it as they want to understand the concept of honor. It's a great idea even if not the highlight of the story, as their conflict with the Doctor is not all that much relevant, but I like it still.
What makes wonders out of this concept - besides amazing drawings of creatures and japanese pop culture - is when lady Asami uses the machine to try and see what comes of Japan in the future, when she discovers that Izzy is from the 20st century. What she sees is, of course, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And then she goes bonkers.
What I think could've been handled better is how much seeing so impacted her psyche because she has little character layers after this points as she is going balistic. Because while she was not a good person up to this point, it's not hard to understand why she would get mad at what she saw. She has every reason to get furious. And I don't think that entitlement to anger is given proper focus. But I like it still.
This story also ends with the Doctor making Sato immortal, which he hates as he was trying to kill himself in ritual now that his revenge was done. He feels the Doctor robbed him of his honor, of his humanity even, but is dismissed. In one perspective, I like a lot what this says of the Doctor - about how him being a time lord make him insensible to others sometimes and how badly he can mishandle a situation. Because he thinks he knows better. And so he dismisses what other people have to say.
But I was also rewatching seasons eight and nine of the new series while reading these comics, so I was surprised about how similar Ashildr's character is to Sato. They are handled completely different in some aspects, and while I actually like Alshidr a lot, I would say Sato makes the most of it. I don't known if Moffat had ever read these comics, but oh my gosh it's almost the same plot.
TV Action, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
Beep the Meeo is back. Haven't read The Star Beast yet so I wasn't pumped, but he is fine. The best part is Beep being defeated by Tom Baker talking too much, however.
The Company of Thieves, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
Or that story where the Kroton plot comes into the ongoing Izzy storyline and we get the best TARDIS team ever.
I got worried for a second beacuse of Eight's initial reaction to Kroton - he tries to kill him and it appears to be sucessful - that I was going to be denied grandeur, but it all works out well. The crew characters are not that interesting and they look a bit too 90's comics for my tastes.
The Glorious Dead, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
One of my favorites Doctor Who stories ever. It does everything it wants to do magnificently.
The setting is gorgeous. I love how this diplomatic meeting goes wrong in the worst way possible and we are left in this deadland. I love also how it ties to the religious themes and what makes humanity - in a loose sense of a human. The Doctor is out of the story when things gets bads; Izzy and Kroton are left to handle things themselves.
And how far has Izzy come. In one if its parts, this story makes the best of the doctorless time to show us how Izzy is now capable of doing a lot - I got my eyes wet reading her letter to Max; her relationship with Kroton is beautiful and I love how they relate by feeling like outsiders and less than human sometimes. I love that Izzy has a plan and that it works. The whole universe was doomed, but then Izzy Sinclair gave them a chance. And then she is dead.
Or so Russell T Davies thought, alongside us readers. Kroton rage after her death is heartbreaking. And then we see that Sato is somehow tied to this situation. Time made him insensible in his immortal life and now the only thing he believes in is death. Being denied death made it the thing he wants the most and the Doctor, even if unintetional, made a monster out of him. Of course Sato has personal responsabilities and this theme is dealt within the story itself, but it was his immortality that made it possible this horror movie ti happened.
And while I am in this topic, I love the body horror of this story. The way these people burn themselves to death for their beliefs is disturbing. The "monsters" desings are dope. There are a lot of alien species here, and they all look cool. Ooooh, and towards the end when it's revealed that this is what came of Earth...
And so I need ti talk about the other half of this story: the Doctor meets the Master once again. And of course he has been manipulating recents events. And it's interestingly in many layers.
First, the Master seems to have changed into someone different. Or so he says. And I do believed he did, I just don't think it was for the better. What he has now is a belief and that makes him more dangerous than ever. He may not have become a better or worthier person, but he does terrible things while trying to prove so. He wants to show how monstruous the Doctor's actions are but don't take any responsability to himself as he believe it was done for a cause. And it all comes into his need to prove himself better than the Doctor.
Secondly, it's a meta commentary on their relationship and how they destroy everything around them. And I mean that in a textual sense - they are the main characters of the story, but what about the lives of the people they leave in pieces? The Glorious Dead turns this around by making the Master - and even the Doctor, a little bit - think he has a destiny, that this story is about him and his friend. But it's not. It's about the little people. It's about Izzy and Kroton and Sato and how they try and get up again. Trying to reclaim themselves of a world that is usually center around other people stories.
Kroton and Sato are mirrors of each other in that sense; in how they are dealing with death and immortality. With loss. Of other people, of their souls. It hurts, but it's beautiful.
The Glorious Dead is one of favorites Doctor Who stories. You should read it.
The Autonomy Bug, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
This is going to sound pedantic but I am not a comedy guy. It's not that I hate it, just that I prefer drama overall. It's why it's rare to see me having much to say about a comedy story. This was great. It's a basic concept - robots appears to have gone crazy - but handled beautifully to tell a story about what makes us, us. The characters are weirdly complex for the little time they have to show it off. The funeral scene is as sad as they come.
The ending made me emotional. It's completely different from the stories Scott Gray told in his Eighth ternure overall, and it's great by being so. It may not be my favorite of the bunch, but it stands ou as unique.
Izzy's Story, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
Second time listening to this story. The first one I hadn't read any Izzy stories yet so I wanted to see if my opinion changed. It didn't. It's not bad, I have fun with it and all, but it takes what I like the least from Barnes' stories to make an audio. It's one of Eight's most cuttest and comedy based like Deathday and TV Action and so it feels inconsequential to me.
I don't know if I agree this should be placed here. Izzy sounds a bit too immature and so I think it would work best earlier in her timeline. The plot itself of Izzy going after a comic book that desappeared is nice, but I don't care much for the conclusion.
Ophidius, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
This is interesting in many ways. It introduces Destrii, so that's already a must read. It also starts the body swap plot, which I love. Izzy has never been so betrayed and it's really interesting to read, as next stories will explore. And I love the setting. Ophidius is a living ship who has its own ecosystem. The people who control the ship are horrendous and the idea that so many people have been turned into beats is horrifying.
The visuals are beautiful. I love the design of the mobox when they are in fours, but I thought they didn't look that good on two legs. There are many other cool aliens designs in Ophidius, including Destrii. That chair that let Eight become invisible by placiing him just a milisecond in the future is a dope technology that, under the show rules, make sense.
I wondered for a second if Eight wasn't going to notice that Destrii was in Izzy's body but thank gosh he did. I don't like when this happens in this trope because it undermines the characters relationships and at this point Eight should be able to recognize if there is something wrong with Izzy - and he did.
Beautiful Freak, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
A wonderful character piece. Izzy is depressed. She is in a body that isn't hers; her own destroyed in Ophidius. She feels ugly, disgusted and angry and don't know what to make from here on. Her life has changed forever. While I think Izzy's thoughts about Destrii's body are a bit cruel, it's understable. She was betrayed, she had her own body and now she won't ever be able to go home. She has every right to be outraged.
The pages where Izzy is submerged in pool as she can't breath is painful and so, so beautiful. Her dialogue with Eight gets to my heart. A sample of the best Doctor Who have to offer.
The Way of All Flesh, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
An interesting story. I don't think we reach the full potential of the concepts introduced here, but it's fun and emotional and have nice things ti say. We get a glimpse at Frida Kahlo's life in the Día de los Muertos as there is something terribly wrong happening.
This is a horror story. It uses body horror concepts to the fullest. It's as disgusting as Doctor Who gets. The Way of All Flesh introduces the necrotists, alien artists that make art of the dead, out of pain. A bit influenced by Hellraiser, I would say. I like that Gray chose the day of the dead as a setting for this story because it me disguted that the girl would dare to make something horrible out of such a beautiful date.
Frida also fits well into the story. She can relate to what Izzy is going through and I like that she calls her our on her bullshit. The ending is so beautiful, with Frida painting Izzy as she "was". Because it's the same person beneath. There is still the same beauty in her, no matter the state of her flesh.
Character Assassin, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Oh this is great. Scott Gray was already my favorite Doctor Who writer by this point but he got extra points by writing a hate piece for Moriarty, one of the most infuriating characters to ever be. Oh it was so fucking great to see him humiliated.
Children of the Revolution, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
I thinks about Children of the Revolution a lot, even more than a month after have read it. It's my favorite Dalek story and I doubt that'll ever changed. I love the setting, I love what is done with established history and I love the art and the colors.
Izzy and the Doctor visits a friend of his who can help her acclimate to her new body, Alison. She is a marine biologist who is working in an underwater station. One day, however, they are attacked by (underwater) Daleks. What will happen next will shock you.
Nobody is exterminated. The Daleks choose to get the humans into the city they built underwater. Nobody can know they live there. Because they are peaceful. They are the Daleks with the human factor the Second Doctor helped engineer in Evil of the Daleks. In that sense this is a heavy continuity story and I could have hated it, but I don't. Because it makes something incredible out of the continuity it's using.
This Dalek city is engaging. You doubt every second when something will go wrong, because you know it will. But this time it's not these Daleks fault. It's the humans. I do think it's a complex situation because knowing every single thing the Daleks ever did I would never, ever trust any of them either and so the human characters are not hard to sympathise. But it's so heartbreaking to see something to beautiful crumble into pieces. There was potential here, for a better future, and it's shattered because of hate and mistrust.
It's interesting to have the TARDIS team as outcasts not because they put themselves in an awkward situation - they were friends with the crew - but rather because they are fundamentally different. Neither the Doctor or Izzy are humans at this point. The Doctor have story with the Daleks, and these ones trust him. They are outsiders and for once the Doctor have his hands tieds. He don't know if he can trust the Daleks, but if he don't and he is wrong - this is a chance of a lifetime. But he has no pull over the humans anymore. There is no winning.
And of course, there is Kata-Phobus. This huge, gorgeous, lovecraftian monster who has lived in this planet for ages and influenced this Dalek colony since its inception. It also influenced the conflict with the humans as it wants to feed upon them all. Kata-Phobus in a sense is there to externalize all that is wrong with the Dalek-human conflict, that ideia of racial superiority, that ideia that there are outsiders. That some people are essentialy different than others. Phobus is that fear made flesh. He plants fear and distrust in the head of these into his reach and he feeds on it.
So yes, I was moved when, in the climax, Alpha commands his fellow Daleks to autodestruction so that Kata-Phobus is defeated and they die as they wished to live - a peaceful people who didn't want any more death or cruelty in their lives. And so the Doctor and Izzy are left speechless because for once there were goods Daleks - while they saw the worst humanity had to offer. It's a must read. I love it. Just, trust me.
Me and My Shadow, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Children of the Revolution ends in a cliffhanger with Izzy being abducted by these weird aliens - and now the Doctor is out for blood. But that's not the focus of Me and My Shadow - this is a Doctor lite story as we are reunited with Fey and Shayde during World War II and see how they are doing - not that great, as they have difficulties sharing a body and for the modt part have agreed to be active at different times.
Fey is frustrated that she can't use her abilities to the fullest because Shayde knows what that can do with the timeline. They are now one living being, but they are not in sincrony, and that is holding them back. And we also get hem being badasses and killing some nazis. So ten out of ten.
Uroboros, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
The Doctor recruits Feyde to help him rescue Izzy. Somebody pointed out how this is a bit similar, but in a much smaller scale, to what he does in A Good Man Goes to War, and that's fair. He is also reunited with Destrii who, as we discover, did not actually die neither had Izzy's body been destroyed.
I know it's Destrii kissing him but that panel of Eight being kissed by Izzy's body it cursed. Burn it with fire.
I don't care much for the Mobox plot to be honest. And that's way it loses a star. It's a fair enough sequel to Ophidius and there sre some cool concepts, but the plot falls into who tropes that I don't like that much neither feel like this story had enough pages to try and do something new with then.
Still solid.
Oblivion - ★★★★★
So finally we go after Izzy, who has been taken to Destrii's homeworld. Which is very ugly. I know it's intentional because it's a wasteland, but nonetheless what a ugly, disguting place.
The local riches have turned into humanoid animals some decades before and are now there to entertain local "monsters" - who are actually people of this dimension who have been badly fucked up by actions of the royals themselves and...
This place is a mess and everybody is horrible and no wonder that Destrii became such a horrendous person. She is the most sympathetic of the bunch, actually. Her mother is indeed a monster and was horrible to her. And is horrible to Izzy, when she arrives there mistaken as Destrii. And, of course, she made her daughter fight in arenas to the death.
Destrii once had a pet, that she took care of for months, until the day her mother made her kill it. And Destrii's death since then have been pure death. I wonder why the hell the girl run away.
Oh and her uncle is not much better. He talks like a nicer man but he is as bad. He helps Destrii escape, but it's more so he could test a way to run away himself - he had no way of knowing she would survive doing so. He is only gentler as long as he get something out of it.
So yeah, Destrii is fucked up. The parallels between Izzy and Destrii are great and I love how it's written. I love that Destrii had the option to make hell on earth, but she steps away. I love that she tells Izzy how unfair she has been treating her parents. I love that she kills her mother, even.
And then Izzy. As I said before, this is a coming of age story for her. And now is fully intk adulthood, and is ready to leave home. The TARDIS. So she kisses Fey because you only live once and she is tired of being a closeted lesbian, asks the Doctor to take her to her parents and say it's time she fix things. Izzy has had many adventures and she has grown up so much, and now is time to move on.
And oh, how I will miss her.
Where Nobody Knows Your Name, by Scott Gray - ★★★☆☆
It's fine. The Doctor is dealing with missing easy while drinking in a bar. It has some fun alien concepts and the Doctor bits are fine. And unkown to him the barman is Frobisher, who doesn't know he is talking to the Doctor because he haven't met Eight yet.
The bits of Eight thinking about retiring do plant some nice ideas tho.
The Nightmare Game - ★☆☆☆☆
I tried. I promised I tried. But I have been reading hundreds of pages of wonderful imsginative stories and then I get to this and... it's inferior. It's leagues below the stories being told before.
The Doctor almost asks the worst kid to ever exist in London if he wants to travel with he him. I get that he is lonely but can we not.
Also it's that guy writing. Yeah. That guy.
The Power of Thoueris!, by Scott Gray - ★★★☆☆
Something I haven't yet is how more violent Eight is in these comics (and the books) when compared to the audios. You might think that's why three stars, but I like it. I think it's fine for some lives of the Doctor be more violent and even cruel than others.
And oh my gosh. He is savage here. That poor hippopotamo girl was irrititating, yes, but oh dear she was eating alive by crocodiles.
Overall a fun story with an art that I like but that is not that consequential.
The Curious Tale of Spring-Heeled Jack, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
And then we are back to form. The Doctor is still directionless and in search of his next companion to be, because he collects them as Bruce Wayne collects orphans, this time in victorian London as the city is being "haunted" by a badass looking prankster "ghost".
It has a kinda obvious twist but who cares, it's well written. And one of the best non-introductory companion stories I have seen so far as it actually does something interesting with the non-companion.
Once again the Doctor overstepped but this time he isn't called out neither by characters or by the story. I understand that the girl he met and the monster that revealed herself were two different people and you could make an argument that debating so would make a great plot, but that's not the focus of this story so instead what we see is the Doctor wiping a criminal's woman memory so she lives unaware of her crimes (and honestly without being taken to justice).
I understand why it happens, but I wish the story would delve more into the implications.
Bad Blood, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
I like this story a lot. The Doctor arrives in the USA in 1875 in the middle of a conflict by an indigenous tribe and white people. The leader of the the tribe believes that the Doctor was sent to help them survive. The scenes where the both of them go into the "spiritual world" are beautiful.
And then there is Destrii and her uncle trying to get something out of this situation. There are "werewolfs" attacking nearby villages, which has been rising the racial tension. Jodafra and Destrii offer weapons, much more advanced than they should ever get, to the white soldiers. And, of course, there is also second intentions behind their actions.
I *must* say: Destrii is far from being a perfect person but these traits are written intentionally. She is kind of an asshole in this story because she thinks of this situation as being part of a western movie, one of the few references she has of Earth. She doesn't understand that is helping genocide, the impact of her actions. But she is not a monsters, so when her uncle put children into risk she draws a line in the sand and betrays him.
I like to think she had flashbacks to her own childhood. She is distress by children in danger while she usually have no problem with people dying. And the way Jodastra hits and almost kill her is disgusting and horrifying. Destrii is not a good person, but she is trying to be. And that's a little bit heartbreaking.
Sins of the Father, by Scott Gray - ★★★☆☆
The Doctor takes Destrii to a space station where she can be healed but the station is attacked by vengeanful monkeys who live in zero grav and centuries before were slaves of the same alien race that now owns the medical station. They are not slavers or even violent anymore but that's the only revenge the monkeys are going to get so they will destroy it anyway.
Destrii is a decent person and kinda saves the day and the Doctor offers her stay at the TARDIS. Not the strongest the DWM have to offer but not the best either.
The Flood, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Ok so let's start by talking about the elephant in the room. Destrii character makes sense but I still wish she was written a lil bit different here. She is not human and the only thing she knows of humanity are movies and cartoons that are filled with racial stereotypes so she reproduces them when meeting humans and it makes sense but oh my god it's so umconfortable. And I know it's intentional but still.
That out of the way, this is good. Destrii entusiasm of properly visiting Earth is contagious. Too bad they arrive just before a Cybermen invasion. And what a invasion. They have been manipulation local population through water that mess with their emotions. The guy Destrii is racist to tries to kill her because of it as his emotions are totally out of control and it seems as if he is having a breakdown.
Cybermen from the future have arrived in London and are about to try and convert everybody. For starts I love their design, they are my favorite Cybermen just for how gorgeous they look. We meet the M16 characters again and it's disturbing when their emotions are manipulated to they actually have a breakdown. It's cruel and effective when we see these characters that we have met before are hurting themselves, asking for mercy and, later, even converted.
We see them partially converted and it's disturbing.
At its heart this is the best the cybermen have to offer: a story about how our feelings is what make us humans, no matter how heartbreaking it can be, or how painful it might get.
It's also about change, as Eight's time was near its end and the Ninth Doctor was ready to make his debut.
At the climax of the story the Eighth Doctor falls into the time vortex and almost merges with it and the description of him almost becoming one with time itself is beautiful. He chooses to step away from eternity, though, for Destrii. She needs him.
It was the right choice from DWM to not have Eight regenerate here, because they got the perfect ending. Eight and Destrii walking towards the sun, ready to have many other adventures. Because their story together just begun.
This was a wonderful read and there is barely a story I could call bad. Most of them are great or classics, to be honest, and this is perhaps the best Doctor Who has ever been.
So farewell, "but change is what makes us real".

House md is really good, but if anyone ever watches it absolutely skip season 2 episode 13, actually the worst episode ever and I'm still like. Kinda fucked up over it ?
Sure, I'm only on season 2 an there could be worse for sure, but nothing can really top the cake for just how horrible this one was.
Rambles underneath.
The whole thing about it made me feel like genuinely sick, house going he/her after they found out about what happened to the child model, the writing about her in general, the dad knowing about the stuff he did, he being her manager, him letting her be a damn teen model in the first place no matter how 'pretty' she is. She's 15 she should be in an after school book club obsessing over horses or boys her age, and not the creepy shit that went down, of course kids will do weird things but this was just bad bad bad bad bad an not well written in the slightest.
Like, I know house can make weird comments of course but the stuff he was saying about her here just made my stomach churn a little bit, and then him saying that stuff to the dad in the bathroom only to find out the father was the one saying that shit and him admitting to sleeping with his own daughter???????? I had to take like 30 mins to convince myself to watch the rest and I wish I didn't, because the more it went on the worse it got, it was just terrible.
Yes, the 15 year old got her dad drunk an slept with him but he is the one still responsible for how she even ended up like that around so many drinks and HORRIBLE NASTY PEOPLE, her saying she tricked them and made them do it is soooooooo terrible and in the show they were trying to justify her being so manipulative it's like, she's still a fucking 15 year old model being placed in there with adults, adults who also encouraged her to do heroin and her own father letting her take his anxiety meds with fucking champagne 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
Genuinely this was a bad episode, I thought the dominatrix episode of season 1 was bad but it was still witty, funny and some what charming bc of what was going on. This episode however was nothing like that and was bad, dad slept with his own daughter, she 'manipulated' other adults into sleeping with her, an then to top it all off house being ever so nicely transphobic!!!!!!! Because she had a very rare birth defect that caused her to have testicles that didn't drop, meaning she produced only estrogen an no testosterone. "The perfect woman" they kept calling her and she is only 15. Yes hours later I'm hung up over it, it fucked me up. I do not get personal like this too much probably.... But I have PTSD, and they could have just left it at that, her father being horrible like that but noooooo the 15 year old got her dad drunk and manipulated him to have sex with her ooooo that's SOOOOOOO much more dramatic . Fuck OFF. The episode is only somewhat plot relevant because cuddy at the end said she didn't even give him morphine shot she gave him saline solution, proving he's an addict to his Vicodin and needs help. Honestly it was a bit deserved because he was being just down right nasty that episode, for not good reason/kinda good reason. He pisses me off really bad an not in the funny way. We did get to see his scar though, pretty neat.
#sharkie7 mumbles#yea. its bad.#this is just me rambling so dont read idk honestly I just wanna out my words out there in the wild

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
46/50
Plot
5/5
At first I was sceptical about the world. I was very confused about the Fae realm, and the whole world structure. Despite this, I often had no idea what was going to happen or where the story was going to go. I thought it was going to be a "supernatural school romance" where our protagonist falls in love with her bully. I was very pleased to my surprise, although that is indeed what happened, the events surrounding it were exciting and often unpredictable. I liked the reveal, where we found out who could be the next king of the Fae realm, and overall I enjoyed where the story was swaying. It added an interesting dynamic to the book for me that most of the characters were physically unable to lie (cheers, Cardan!).
Protagonist
5/5
I didn't like Jude as a person at all. But my God, she was a great choice for the lead! Finally a cunning female character who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. She thought, she felt, and she did a lot of questionable things in the process - but she was no stranger to that either! It was very refreshing to finally have a female protagonist whose personality I dislike and who often annoys me, but I still root for her and admire her strength and perseverance.
Love interest
5/5
Cardan became one of the most interesting characters for me by the end of the book. At first I had no idea how he and Jude could be attracted to each other. But once the book reached its climax, we finally got to know Cardan's charming and witty personality, which I thought was a great match for Jude's purposeful and measured character. I really enjoyed his humorous comments, laughing out loud many times at the scenes he was in.
Chemistry
5/5
It ended up being a very strange and unconventional grumpy x sunshine romance, as Jude couldn't let go of her responsibilities, was often tense and depressed, and Cardan’s life was also up in flames and needed all the help he could get to distract him, but he tried to keep his spirits up. Even though their relationship didn't start well, they always trusted each other - which confirmed that they could go from being enemies to love each other. Their kissing scene surprised me, but I was glad, it fitted the story perfectly. I had the impression that in this book it was as if the author had reversed the roles: Jude did not spout witty comments, she did a lot to move the plot along or change it. Cardan, on the other hand, couldn't get Jude out of his head for a long time, and he was the more pleasant, emotionally accessible character. It's usually the other way around with fantasy romances, and I really liked this breath of fresh air.
Side characters
4/5
I was pleased with the supporting characters in this book. I learned as much about them as I would have liked. Even though Roach, Ghost and Bomb didn't get to me emotionally until the very end, I was okay with that too. I never liked Locke, and he gave me the creeps a lot of the time, which is why I liked that he was around Jude for a while. I was fine with Jude's family, although it would have been nice to know more about Taryn.
Character development
4/5
In terms of character development, apart from Jude, I would like to single out Cardan. Even though he managed to get Jude to kiss his feet and push her into the river, I still managed to let him get away with that eventually. He was able to admit his feelings despite the domestic violence he suffered through, hence why it must have been difficult for him. He also gained Jude's trust and he could trust her. Also, Jude's development was a bit smaller for me, as she has always been a tough and dedicated woman, but I still didn't feel a lack of interest by the end of the book.
Spicy scenes
3/5
I'll be very, very, very curious to see where the book goes in this area, as their kissing scenes are not what I would literally call "spicy", which didn't bother me, but I hope the author handles them well in the future.
Writing style / translation
4/5
I read the book in Hungarian and I had no problem with the translation. I didn't find the translator's style unpleasant and I'm happy to read other books in Hungarian. The political parts were easy to understand, the book was fast-paced and exciting.
Ending
5/5
It was obvious to me that the crown would end up on Cardan's head at the end of the book, but I was very happy to be right. I devoured the last third of the book in my seat, I enjoyed it so much. The coup was brilliantly written and Jude's plan was excellent.
Enjoyment
5/5
Finally, a fantasy that wasn't crammed with cringe dialogue, lots of unnecessary characters, and a story that focuses on the main character's inability to think about anything other than her love interest. I loved that Jude was not a damsel-in-distress, and that she had plans, her own thoughts, her own goals. All in all, I had a lot of fun, and she managed to convince me despite how skeptical I was at first!

Disaster Dates: Karaoke Night
Tig Trager x F!Reader
Disaster Dates Masterlist
This prompt from This List: Person A and Person B go out to a bar not realizing that it’s karaoke night and all the other patrons are drunk, singing terribly, and keep pressuring Person A and Person B to sing a song together.
Warnings: language, alcohol
Word Count: 3.2k
A/N: I know this was on the “Disaster Date” list but honestly I feel like this is the exact opposite of a disaster 😂 I had far too much fun writing this one. Also, the more I work on these, the more I realize I just thoroughly enjoy writing little moments with these guys in happy, healthy relationships. The build-up to the date is just as enjoyable for me to write as the date itself haha. Hope y’all enjoy!

You’d finally convinced Tig to go out for date night. While you weren’t usually the type to have a problem with just staying in and enjoying each other’s company, you had to admit that sometimes it was nice to have an excuse to go out and spent some quality time together. More specifically, time out together away from the clubhouse and all of the people inside.
It wasn’t that you didn’t like the club—you loved them, truly. If it weren’t for them you wouldn’t have crossed paths with Tig in the first place. They were fun to hang out with, to party with, but it was no secret that they weren’t really the crowd anyone would want to roll with on a night when you just wanted some time to spend with your partner. Tig knew that, too, for as much as he gave you a hard time about not wanting to go to the clubhouse.
“It’s just another bar,” you said with a laugh as you pulled a cute tank top down over your head, “so you don’t even have to dress up.”
“If it’s just another bar,” Tig called back from the bathroom, “why can’t we just go to the clubhouse?”
Rolling your eyes, you dug around your dresser for a pair of jeans, “Because you already agreed to go wherever I picked for date night, that’s why.”
He was fully ready to keep bickering with you when he got to the doorway of your shared bedroom, but all the words got lost somewhere between his brain and his mouth as he watched you looking for a pair of pants in just your tank top and underwear. Rather than a witty remark or a slick comment to keep the pointless argument going, all that came out was a low whistle.
You smiled and shook your head even though you weren’t looking at him. If there was anything that could be said about your relationship with Tig, it was that you never had to wonder if he still wanted you. The man never passed up an opportunity for a flirty comment or a tempting touch. And you loved it, no matter how many times you tried to pave over your enjoyment with a faux look of annoyance.
He walked up behind you, running his fingers lightly up the backs of your thighs until he reached your hips. Wrapping his arms around you, he pulled you back against him with a soft laugh, “We could just do date night right here, you know.”
You laughed, but even through your laughter you knew he could hear that you found the idea just a little tempting. Sighing, you leaned back against him so you could get a good look at his face, “You can’t seduce your way out of date night.”
He chuckled, “You sure?” his hands crept towards the front of your underwear’s waistband.
Despite the goosebumps that were rising all over your skin, you nodded and attempted to step away from him just a little, “I’m sure. C’mon,” you playfully swatted his hands away, “You promised.”
He let out a sigh of resignation, “Alright, alright. I promised.”
He was always ready before you, but over the months of the two of you being together, he’d gotten much more patient waiting for you to get ready. He was always a man on the go, but he had learned to sit back and just enjoy you wandering around the house half-dressed as you got yourself together for whatever your plans were. He watched you shimmy into your jeans, leaving them unzipped and unbuttoned as you walked over to pick out the jewelry you wanted to wear for the night. You always loved cracking jokes about how Tig wore more rings than you. Every now and then he’d come back with a comment to the effect of, “There’s only one ring you gotta worry about wearing, sweetheart.” To which you always promptly replied, “I’ll believe that when I see it.” You weren’t in any kind of rush for that kind of thing, but if he opened the door for those kinds of comments you weren’t above walking right through it.
“Alright,” you were finally doing the button and zipper on your jeans as you looked in your closet for the shoes you wanted to wear, “I’m ready.”
Tig knew better than to believe that, though, “Sure,” he laughed as he sat down on the edge of the bed, making himself comfortable while he waited.
“I am!” you laughed as you dug around for a specific pair of boots, “I just gotta get my boots on and I’m good to go.”
“If you say so,” even though you weren’t looking at him, you could hear his smirk.
A couple minutes went by before you spoke up again, “Tig, baby, I need your opinion.”
He was lying on his back on the bed, legs still dangling off the edge of it, “On what?”
“Which ones?” you stood in front of him, a different boot on each foot.
He sat up, looking and it seemed like he was actually putting some thought into what he was going to respond with. With a slow nod, he said, “Tall ones.”
You smiled, nodding, “I should’ve known,” you pulled the other boot off and chucked it into the closet before sliding into the other tall boot. Turning back around to him, you held your arms out, “See? I’m ready.”
Getting up off the bed, Tig couldn’t stop himself from smiling and shaking his head, “You are. Makes one of us.”
Rolling your eyes, you pushed him towards the bedroom door, “Oh stop, it’s gonna be fun. We’re just going out for drinks, Trager. That’s something you’re good at.”
He laughed as he let you continue to push him through the house towards the front door. He grabbed his kutte and his bike keys as the two of you walked, and you couldn’t help but to feel a wave of excitement go through you. No matter how many times you hopped on the bike behind him, it never really got old. You were more comfortable now than you had been when you first started seeing him, but the novelty of it had yet to wear off.
“All good back there?” he gave your thigh a squeeze.
Wrapping your arms tighter around his middle, you pulled yourself closer to him, “All good.”
“Where’s this place again?” he asked as the bike roared to life.
“On the less shady side of town,” you replied with a laugh as he rolled out of the driveway.
He laughed, “Sounds boring.”
The ride there was quick, quiet outside the sound of his motorcycle. Charming wasn’t an overly busy town to begin with, but the two of you had left late enough to miss any traffic that would’ve been clogging up the streets. The parking lot of the bar was mostly full, and you supposed that that was pretty typical for a Saturday night. You chuckled a little when Tig realized that he wasn’t going to get preferential parking the same way he did at the clubhouse. He mumbled a few comments under his breath as he put the kickstand down on his bike and it was impossible not to be a little amused by him.
He tucked your helmets away as you adjusted your top and fixed your hair. For all the grumbling he’d done about going somewhere new for your date, he couldn’t pretend that he didn’t like seeing you getting all dolled up and excited about new things, even if it was just getting drinks at a bar that you’d never been to before. There were a lot of reasons to love you, and this was just another thing on the list.
“Ready?” you flashed him a smile.
“You are,” he shrugged, “that’s good enough for me.”
You smiled, shaking your head at him as you slipped your hand into his, “C’mon, grumps. It’s gonna be a good time.”
The two of you walked in together, and were immediately met with sounds that weren’t anything like what you were expecting. You expected a bar to have music. And, while you weren’t necessarily thinking that this place would be playing the same kind of music you heard at the clubhouse, you weren’t expecting to walk in on the scene that you did, either.
“What the fuck is this?” Tig couldn’t stop himself from asking.
“It looks like—”
“Did you bring me to a fucking karaoke bar?” he had to laugh.
“I don’t think…” you looked around, and sure enough, the board where most places would put their specials, had written on it, Karaoke, first Saturday of every month! and all you could do was laugh, “Shit. Yea, look,” you nudged him and gestured to the sign.
“It’s not too late to turn around,” he offered.
“Hell no,” you laughed, “We get drinks and a show now. C’mon,” you tightened your grip a bit on his hand and pulled him deeper into the bar in search of a booth or table that would give you a good view of the trainwreck.
“Here,” you motioned for him to sit at the high-top table close to the bar, “I’ll grab us a couple beers.”
He was about to tell you not to leave him in the middle of all these drunk people who were gearing up to spend their night poorly singing songs that he loved, and would no doubt have a distaste for by the time the night was over, but you were already gone. Letting out a deep sigh, he sat back in his chair and tried to get a better idea of who was in the bar. No one really seemed like they were the type to give either of you any trouble, but Tig never put anything past anyone.
“Here,” you slid the glass to him before taking your seat next to him.
You’re not gonna sit across from me?” he asked, a confused expression on his face.
“And miss this shitshow?” you gestured to the two friends up front singing horribly off-key before taking a sip of your own drink, “No way.”
“Pretty sure they say only serial killer couples sit on the same side of the table or both or whatever.”
You shrugged, “Yea, well…you know,” you laughed.
He couldn’t even try to stop himself from laughing. Even though it wasn’t about to be the night that either of you imagined it was going to be, he figured that if he was going to enjoy it with anyone, it’d be you. He draped his arm around your shoulders, smiling more at the amusement that you got from watching it all happen rather than all the people surrounding you.
There was a lull in people volunteering to go up and sing, and that was the first time that the two of you got called out. A girl who clearly should’ve been cut off a few shots ago waved at you from the small makeshift stage, “Hey! Couple in the back! By the bar!” you looked around before motioning between you and Tig, and the girl nodded excitedly, “Yea, you! Come up! Do a duet!”
You laughed, shaking your head, “Pass. Thank you, though.”
“Come on!” the girl pleaded, “It’ll be fun!”
“Then you do it!” Tig called back.
You choked back a laugh, and you would’ve felt bad if his comment had affected the girl at all, but she seemed perfectly unbothered as she took his advice and picked another song to sing.
“Would you?” you asked him once the song started up.
“What?”
“Would you go up there and sing?” your curiosity was written clearly all over your face.
“Baby, I would take a bullet for you. And I would rather do that, than go up there in front of all these people and sing karaoke.”
You burst out laughing as you leaned into him, “Stop. You’re not serious.”
“Dead serious,” he shook his head before taking a sip of his beer.
“What if I get you a little drunk first?”
“Gotta be more than just a little for that.”
You rolled your eyes with a smile, “I think you’re exaggerating. I bet you’d actually have fun.”
He smirked at you, “Guess we’ll never know.”
You had to laugh. All of the things that you’d seen Tig do over the years of knowing him, and karaoke was where he drew the line? You just didn’t buy it. You were willing to bet that he actually got really into it and he just didn’t want you to know. Regardless of how good or bad he was, you knew that there was no way it would be the most embarrassing thing that you’d ever seen him do.
It became a game, almost comical, really, for everyone to try and get the two of you up onto the stage. And while you would really rather do almost anything else than go up there and sing karaoke in front of a bunch of strangers who were pretty much plastered, the fact that Tig was so adamant about not doing it made you want to go up there. The later it got, and the more everyone else around you drank, the more pressure they put on the two of you. Honestly, you were surprised that Tig was keeping it together at all—you were certain that he would either get up to leave or start a fight with the next person who pushed the issue. Maybe he was really just trying to keep it together because it was date night.
“Alright,” a very sober-sounding voice came from the stage, “we have time for one more song before we shut it down up here.”
Even if everyone wasn’t actually looking at you, that’s what it felt like. Looking over at Tig, you smiled, “C’mon, it could be fun!”
His eyes widened a little bit, “Seriously?”
You nodded excitedly, “Seriously! We might as well, right?”
He leaned back in his chair, searching your face as if he was trying to figure out just how serious you were about it. Like you’d ever joke about something like this. He knew that there wasn’t any getting out of it, after all, this was your date night.
“One song,” he got up out of his chair.
You were beaming, jittering with excitement as you hopped off your chair as well, instantly grabbing his hand and dragging him towards the little karaoke stage before he could change his mind and try to make a break for it. The amount of drunken cheers and applause made it impossible not to laugh as the two of you picked a song to do. You let Tig choose, figuring it was the least you could do since you were the one forcing him into the whole thing anyway. However, you couldn’t help but to notice that he navigated through songs with an impressive amount of ease, skimming faster than you would’ve been able to. It only confirmed your earlier thought that maybe he had a bit more of a knack for karaoke than he wanted to admit to you.
He finally stopped at one, looking at you for confirmation before picking it. The smile on your face grew impossibly bright as you nodded. You weren’t sure what you were expecting him to choose, but you were excited and impressed with his choice.
As soon as the opening notes of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough hit the air, the entire bar erupted into cheers and applause. Tig figured that if he was going to do this, he might as well make it all worth it. Had he sung this song an embarrassing number of times during impromptu karaoke nights at the clubhouse? Maybe. Was his duet partner almost always Juice? Also maybe. But he wasn’t going to tell you that—not yet.
If there was anyone in the world that you assumed would absolutely kill it at karaoke, it would’ve been Tig. All the events of the night aside, there was just something about the chaotic energy that he put off, the reckless abandon that he had that made him a perfect candidate for something like this.
And he didn’t disappoint.
You were fairly certain that he didn’t look at the screen a single time. You held your own alright, or you did as well as you could between the laughs. He knew how to put on quite the show, which is also something that you shouldn’t have found surprising. You wondered if the dance number was improvised or something that he had rehearsed with whoever else he usually dueted the song with. Either way, he was effortlessly moving around you and spun you as though he’d done it a million times before.
By the time the song was over, you were out of breath. Whether it was mostly from singing, laughing, or Tig’s antics, you didn’t know. It was the best you’d felt in a while though. You knew for a fact that you were going to be picking his brain about the entire thing once the two of you got home. You had far too many questions and not enough answers.
All of that could wait, though. The two of you had just put on the karaoke finale of a lifetime, and the crowd reacted accordingly. You looked over at Tig, and both of you had the look in your eyes that said that this was the closest the two of you would ever be to being rockstars, so you might as well soak it up while you had the chance.
While the original plan might’ve been to make a beeline for the door the second the song ended, the two of you ended up sticking around for another round of drinks. Things were quieter now, but the energy of the place was still buzzing. The two of you made your way back to your table, and it was impossible to get through more than one sentence at a time without breaking down into laughter.
“You know,” you reached over and rested your hand on his thigh, “if your goal tonight was to make sure I never brought you to another karaoke night, you did not succeed.’
He chuckled as he finished off his beer, “This gonna be your pick for date night forever now?”
“Maybe not forever,” you laughed, “But definitely the first Saturday of every month. Who knows?” you gave his leg a light squeeze, “Couple months of this and then we can take this show on the road.”
Laughing, he pulled you tight against his side and kissed the top of your head, “Can’t get mad at me about the groupies, then.”
Shaking your head, you couldn’t help but to laugh, “You’re something else, Trager. Always full of surprises.”
“You think that’s surprising, you should see the other guys.”
“Oh, believe me,” you looked up at him, “it’s gonna be my new mission to find where the karaoke machine is hidden at the clubhouse.”
“No one is gonna tell you, baby,” he smirked.
“I’ll figure it out somehow.”
“That means you’re gonna have to sing too, you know.”

The upcoming visit of a particular Noble has Merlin on edge;
Gwen has to explain why to an incredulous, soon to be horrified, Arthur.
TW: Physical abuse.
Arthur doesn’t question it when Merlin drops an empty tray moments after he was told of Lord Dunstan’s upcoming visit, he simply rolls his eyes and mutters something about incompetence.
Merlin wordlessly cleans up the mess as Arthur goes on to tell him to make sure the Steward was aware, and to have a servant ready for him.
Merlin’s... subdued, behaviour in the following weeks however, does invite question, but Arthur quickly drops it when Merlin snaps at him. It’s rare that Merlin gets angry (or openly angry), so The King shrugs his shoulders, and stops pushing it.
If he had been paying attention, he would have noticed that all the servants seemed a little muted, not even Gwen was holding the long conversations with him that she usually does. But Arthur was a King, preparing for the visit of a long-standing family friend he hasn’t seen since Uther died.
He had more important things to worry about than the conspiratorial whispering between Merlin, the Steward, and George. So he left it. He figured Merlin was just finally getting in trouble for being a shit servant, and deserved whatever he got.
~
When the morning of Lord Dunstan’s arrival finally came, Merlin was unusually quiet as he dressed and readied Arthur; but Arthur was so preoccupied by complaining at the small portion of his breakfast, he didn’t notice (or at least didn’t comment on) Merlin’s lack of sarcasm or witty insults.
Just as Arthur finished eating, a knock resounded from the chamber entrance. Arthur frowned in confusion, he wasn’t expecting news of Lord Dunstan’s arrival for another hour or so, but Merlin seemed pleased as he opened the door.
A young servant boy, who Arthur vaguely recognised as being called Tristan, walked in. He seemed nervous, but smiled when Merlin patted him on the shoulder, whispering encouragement that Arthur couldn’t quite hear.
Arthur raises his eyebrow at Merlin when he turned back, but before the King could question him, Merlin spoke:
“This is Tristan, My Lord. He’ll be serving you during the day whilst Lord Dunstan is here. Be nice to him.”
Arthur frowned, sternly saying:
“Well, where will you be? I don’t recall giving you any time off, Merlin.”
Tristan gulped, but Merlin ruffles his hair as he rolls his eyes, before heading towards the door, replying over his shoulder:
“It’s my turn to serve the visiting noble and there’s a few things to sort out before he arrives. The servants have a rota.”
He shuts the door behind him briefly, before opening it and sticking his head back through, giving Arthur a pointed look before repeating:
“Be nice to him.”
The door quickly shuts again, and Arthur sputters indignantly. Tristan cleared his throat slightly before shyly asking:
“Is there anything you require to be done today, My Lord?”
Arthur’s attention is quickly drawn back to the boy, around fourteen summers old, and he fixes him with a confused stare before his brain seems to catch up, and he responds:
“Uh... yes, there’s a... wait, do you.. do you know how to read and write?”
Arthur doesn’t really think about it often, he doesn’t need to, but he was aware that most commoners, even servants working in the castle, didn’t know how to read.
The nerves seem to drain from Tristan’s face as he gives the King a wide smile:
“Yes, Sire. Merlin started teaching me when I first started working here last summer. I’m pretty good at it now, as long as it isn’t too complicated.”
Arthur is taken aback at that. Of course, teaching peasant children to read and write sounds like exactly something Merlin would do, so he’s not sure why he’s surprised.
Arthur nods, returning the boy’s smile with an unsure one of his own:
“Right. There’s a list of chores on the desk. Try to get as many of them done as you can but... uh... ask the Steward or Merlin if you need any help, or if you can’t do something.”
Arthur had no real concept of what commoner boys of Tristan’s age were capable of. When Arthur was fourteen, he could recite the names of every Camelot Noble, and decapitate a training dummy without breaking a sweat, but he knows that’s not... normal... for other children.
Tristan nods enthusiastically, and goes to the desk, picking up the list and reading it with furrowed brows and a bitten lip. Arthur sees the deep concentration on his face and the slow pace of his eyes moving over the page, and makes a mental note to allow Merlin an extra few hours a week, to give more official lessons to the younger servants.
Arthur clears his throat, standing from his place at the table and gesturing at the empty tray in front of him:
“Take this down to the kitchens, then get started on the list. I’ll be working in here until Lord Dunstan arrives, make sure to come and inform me as soon as he approaches the castle, I wish to meet him in the courtyard.”
Tristan’s eyes go wide, and his face loses a bit of colour, but he gives Arthur a smile that’s only slightly shaky as he bows, and slips the list into his pocket:
“Yes, of course My Lord.”
The boy’s miniscule change in disposition doesn’t strike Arthur as odd until the door shuts quietly behind him, leaving The King alone in his chambers.
He hums thoughtfully to himself, everyone seemed to be acting strangely this morning. Though perhaps Merlin, and a boy who was spending a lot of time with Merlin, acting strangely shouldn’t be... surprising, to Arthur.
He shrugs his shoulders slightly and sits at his desk, resigning himself to at least an hour’s worth of boring paperwork.
~
When Tristan came back around a candle mark later to inform The King that Lord Dunstan’s carriage was approaching the castle gates, he seemed even more nervous and tense than earlier.
Arthur noticed, but payed no mind. He figured the boy was just a little overwhelmed with his duties, and made a mental note to ask Merlin to check in on him, the next time he saw the gangly manservant.
He had no time to do so however: the next time Merlin was in Arthur’s presence, he was unloading Dunstan’s baggage as Arthur greeted the Lord.
The two men clasped arms, wide smiles on their faces as Arthur said:
“Welcome back to Camelot, Lord Dunstan. I hope your journey wasn’t too difficult?”
The man’s smile grew as he shook his head:
“No, not difficult at all, we made good time. It’s an honour to be back, My Lord.”
Arthur nodded in satisfaction, and resisted the urge to frown when he noticed how tense Tristan and Merlin seemed, instead keeping the smile on his face:
“Well, lunch will be served in a candle mark or so. You’ll be seen to by my personal manservant for the duration of your stay-”
Arthur gestures loosely at Merlin, who doesn’t react at all as he quietly informs George and one other servant to take Dunstan’s belongings up to the chambers he would be staying in. As the two of them ascend the castle steps, bags in hand, Merlin moves to stand behind the Lord, giving George a knowing look before focusing his gaze on the floor, jaw tense and face blank.
Arthur doesn’t manage to avoid frowning at Merlin’s odd behaviour this time, but covers it quickly before continuing:
“-let him get you settled and then you can join me for a meal in the dining hall. If you require anything at all, do not hesitate to ask him.”
Dunstan looks to a still non-reactionary Merlin, and Arthur takes advantage of his distraction to glance at Tristan, whom he had noticed take a subtle gasp at Arthur’s words. He frowns slightly at the boy’s apprehensive face and strained posture, but looks back as Lord Dunstan drops a heavy hand on Merlin’s shoulder.
Arthur can see the bob of Merlin’s throat as he swallows and winces slightly, but stays otherwise still. The King doesn’t have time to think about it before Dunstan joyously exclaims:
“Yes, I remember him from last time. I will take full advantage of your hospitality, My Lord.”
Arthur returns his smile, and gestures to the castle entrance, Merlin’s odd demeanour immediately forgotten. Dunstan removes the hand from Merlin’s shoulder, and the two of them follow Arthur through the large doors.
They separate in the corridor, Merlin stiffly leading the Lord to the guest chambers, and Arthur and Tristan heading back up to The King’s chambers.
Both of them enter the room, Tristan standing still and tense, expression drawn and concerned as he makes a point of staring at the floor submissively.
Arthur frowns in confusion, trying not to sound accusing as he asks:
“How are you getting on with the list?”
Tristan replies in an even voice, obviously making an effort to sound blank as he keeps his gaze on the floor:
“I’ve crossed off the first three tasks. Is there anything specific you require now, or would you like me to continue with the chores, My Lord?”
Arthur’s eyes widen and he smiles:
“Three? In one hour? That’s brilliant. No I don’t need anything, keep going with the list-”
Tristan bows, still not making eye contact, and wordlessly goes to leave, but Arthur calls him back:
“Wait! What’s gotten you so tense all of a sudden? Speak freely, you won’t be punished or anything, is there a problem somewhere?”
Tristan tenses even further, and turns around with wide eyes. He shakes his head roughly:
“No Sire, no problem.”
Arthur frowns and furrows his eyebrows, but before he can reply, a frantic knocking comes from the door. Before Arthur can ask who it is, the door bursts in harshly and Gwen rushes in, looking panicked:
“Merlin?!-”
Her eyes land on an awfully confused Arthur and she bows very briefly before hurriedly saying:
“-I apologise for the intrusion, My Lord, I don’t suppose you’ve seen Mer-”
Her frenetic gaze lands on Tristan, and she lets out a breath before rushing over to him. She puts one hand on his shoulder and one on his cheek. She tilts his head carefully, as if looking for something on his face as she says:
“-Oh, Tristan thank the Gods. Matron just told me that you had been assigned to Lord Dunstan. You haven’t been hurt have you?”
Tristan smiles nervously and takes Gwen’s hand from his face as he shakes his head softly.
Arthur looks on in unconcealed bewilderment as the boy quietly replies:
“No. Merlin swapped with me. He’s with the Lord now, and I’m serving His Majesty. I told him I could handle it, but he and George insisted.”
Gwen’s jaw tensed slightly as she shook her head:
“Hmm. You’re not even of age yet Tristan, we won’t let you-”
She looks up nervously at Arthur, seeming to only just remember that The King was in the room with them. She gulps slightly, before plastering a smile on her face and looking back down to the boy:
“-why don’t you run along and finish your chores. I can deal with anything His Majesty needs right now. And stay out of our guest’s way.”
Tristan tilts his head in question, but at Gwen’s slight nod he turns and bows to Arthur, before leaving the room. Gwen watches him go with a concerned frown on her face, but her attention is quickly caught by Arthur again as he suddenly exclaims:
“Right, are you going to tell me what that was about? Why did you think he had been hurt? And Merlin told me it was his turn to serve the visiting noble?”
Gwen looks back to him nervously:
“It’s nothing, My Lord. Do you require anything?”
Arthur scoffs disbelievingly, looking annoyed as he retorts:
“Yes. I require that you answer my questions.”
Gwen frowns again, looking desperately worried as she replies:
“Really, Sire, it’s not anything you should have to concern yourself-”
Arthur holds a hand up, his face morphing from annoyed to worried as he interrupts her:
“Colour me concerned. Speak freely, Guinevere. What’s going on? You, Merlin, and Tristan have been acting noticeably odd all day, and it isn’t even noon yet.”
Gwen gulps, before seeming to sag slightly in resignation. She lets out a breath and looks to the floor as she quietly replies:
“The servants look out for one another, Sire. George is the best servant, gets things done the quickest, but Merlin can... Merlin is the best at taking hits, better than all of us. So whenever a noble is particularly... demanding, they tend to work together, to keep the younger or more inexperienced servants out of harm’s way.”
Arthur’s expression morphs once again, this time to one of puzzlement, and Gwen looks up at him apprehensively as he replies:
“What do you mean, “taking hits”, and since when has Merlin worked with George?”
Gwen tilts her head, before slowly replying:
“I... I don’t really know what to say, My Lord. Whenever a noble is aggressive, George will do his best to make sure everything’s perfect, and Merlin will stop the noble taking an interest in any of the other servants; he’ll take the hits. Lord Dunstan has a- you said I could speak freely, My Lord? I know Lord Dunstan is a friend of yours-”
Arthur nods firmly, muttering an “of course”, starting to realise with numb horror what Gwen might be talking about:
“-well, Lord Dunstan is always rather... violent, with the serving staff, especially the younger ones, so whenever he visits, Merlin takes over serving him, and the rest of us try to keep out of his way, and patch Merlin up at the end of the day.”
Arthur looks shocked, and Gwen frowns as he collapses back into one of the chairs at the table. She slowly walks over, sitting opposite him. When Arthur stays silent, seemingly staring into the distance, Gwen clears her throat and speaks up quietly:
“Surely you knew, My Lord? That we get hit?”
Arthur looks at her in shock, shaking his head incredulously before replying:
“No! No, I didn’t know. Why has no one said anything?”
Gwen tenses her jaw, suddenly looking like she’s trying to control her anger, before she replies harshly, but still quietly:
“What would you have us say, Sire? We’re just servants. Nobles can do whatever they want to us without punishment. And even if abuse of the staff was illegal, who would believe the word of a servant over that of a Noble? Like I said My Lord, we look out for each other. None of us like it, but Merlin is the best at working through injury, so he always takes the violent ones whilst the rest of us do his other duties for him.”
Arthur slumps back in his seat, thinking for a moment whilst Gwen stares at him with an odd mix of anger and pity.
He speaks up again after a few minutes, barely audible:
“Merlin takes the violent ones...”
Gwen nods sympathetically, before replying in a quietly disbelieving tone:
“Yes. Do you actually believe Merlin every time he says he fell down the stairs, or ran into a door, or something else equally stupid and clumsy??-”
Arthur nods wordlessly and Gwen sighs:
“-He disappears for hours at a time, and comes back with all those bruises and injuries because he takes over someone else’s... difficult assignment. We used to try and take turns, and still do very occasionally, when Merlin can’t, but he usually insists. He can take beatings that no one else can; he can somehow work with a fractured jaw and a concussion and all manner of other injuries, children who are barely fourteen summers old can’t.-”
Gwen sighs once again, and Arthur looks up at her in shock as she stares at the table and sniffles slightly, tears filling her eyes as she quietly continues:
“-He’s always been stupidly proud of his ability to work after being thoroughly smacked around, AND hide it from you, but it worries me. One day he’s going to take a hit he can’t get up from.”
Arthur gains his ability to speak again, muttering in a horrified tone:
“Gods. I had no idea. I mean I knew a few of the Lords were a little handsy occasionally, but I put a stop to it when I see it. I didn’t think it was this... widespread.”
Gwen tilts her head, catching Arthur’s eyes. They meet each other’s gaze as Arthur quietly asks:
“Does anyone else know?”
Gwen gives him a weak smile and gulps before she replies, equally quietly:
“Gaius knows. After the first time we had to carry Merlin back to him to get patched up, we started warning him when anyone particularly... violent, was around, so he could prepare.-”
Arthur flinches and looks away slightly at that, the image of other servants having to carry a beaten and bloody Merlin back to Gaius replaying over and over in his head.
Gwen takes his hand sympathetically as she continues:
“-A few of the Roundtable Knights look out for us. We try to keep Gwaine and Elyan away from it because they just get angry and accusing and of course the servants face the repercussions for that later. Leon, Percival, and Lancelot are pretty good at distracting them, so we can escape, but it doesn’t work long-term. Sometimes the Nobles are less willing to be violent in front of others, so some of the guards hang around wherever possible, to keep an eye on us, but they can’t do that all of the time. They do what they can, when they can.”
Arthur nods mutely and Gwen stares at him as he gathers his thoughts. He straightens his back and takes in a deep breath before looking Gwen in the eyes, and firmly asking:
“How bad is Dunstan? Compared to others?”
Gwen winces, glancing away briefly before looking back to Arthur’s determined face:
“He’s... one of the worse ones. Last time he was here, he gave the first servant a broken nose and a concussion, and when Merlin took over, he bruised four ribs, fractured his wrist and collarbone, and ended up with permanent scars all up one of his arms.”
Arthur let out a breath and cursed:
“How did I not notice that? Or did I just take some stupid excuse at face value, again?”
Gwen pursed her lips, replying softly:
“Everything was bandaged up under clothing, and there were no visible bruises. Merlin is... skilled, at hiding his pain. You couldn’t have known.”
Arthur stands suddenly and begins pacing. He huffs before turning back to Gwen, ranting slightly:
“This is unacceptable. This is ridiculous. I want a list. Of all the violent ones, all the even mildly aggressive ones. Nobles, Knights, hell, even royalty, I don’t care. I want to know the names of everyone who thinks it’s acceptable to beat my staff.”
Gwen smiles sadly, and joins him in standing, but shakes her head slightly:
“It’s not that simple, that would be a very long list, Sire. I can think of maybe ten nobles who have never laid a hand on any of us, and one of them is Leon.”
Arthur goes pale and deflates, tears coming to his eyes as he whispers:
“Would... would I be on that list? I’ve thrown things at Merlin before but I didn’t... I never wanted to to hurt him, I never meant to be violent.”
Gwen steps forward and puts her hands on Arthur’s shoulders, giving him a soft smile as she says:
“Arthur, you throw pillows at Merlin when he calls you fat. You definitely wouldn’t be on the list. Merlin put Tristan with you because he knew that was the safest place for him to be whilst Dunstan was here.”
Arthur relaxes and nods slightly at her words, but still looks troubled. He looks up at her after a few moments:
“How long until lunch? Merlin will be with Dunstan until then.”
Gwen grimaces:
“Another half a candle-mark, Sire.”
Arthur huffs again, but begins walking towards the door purposefully, Gwen trailing after him worriedly:
“We’re going to pay him a surprise visit. I can hardly make an announcement, or accuse him with no proof, but if I catch him in the act...”
They both hurry down the corridor, Gwen rushing to catch up after the shut the door behind her. She can tell that Arthur feels guilty, but he was right in his assessment: the only way he could do anything about it is if he walked in on his manservant (and best friend and possibly love of his life) being beaten. And that’s not exactly something one wants to see.
They finally reach the hall that Lord Dunstan’s chambers were in, to see George approaching from the other end of the corridor. The servant’s eyes widen slightly at the sight of them, but he covers it quickly, moving to stand in front of Dunstan’s door, water pitcher clutched tightly in his hands. He bows at the King, and glances nervously at Gwen before saying:
“Is there anything I can help you with, My Lord?”
Arthur sees the way he’s stood in front of the door defensively, and whilst it frustrates him slightly that his servants think him incapable of protecting them, he understands. Apparently, this had been happening forever, and they all thought he knew and just didn’t care.
Gwen speaks up, quietly so they can’t be heard through the door, before The King can reply:
“It’s alright George, he’s here to help. How was Merlin last time you saw him?”
George goes a little pale, wincing slightly as he looks to Gwen at Arthur’s side:
“He was... alright. A few bruises, but nothing serious.-”
He tacks on a quick “-My Lord.” as he looks back to Arthur.
Arthur’s face goes red and he looks furious, Gwen has to tug his sleeve to stop him from shouting as he angrily whispers:
“A few bruises?? He’s only been here for half a candle mark!”
George gulps, and looks to Gwen for support. She pulls Arthur around to look at him, and the barely concealed devastation in her expression drains the anger from Arthur’s face:
“I told you, Dunstan is one of the worse-”
She gets interrupted by a muffled thump coming from the room behind George, and Arthur’s gaze whips to the door. George flinches slightly at the noise, biting his lip as he looks to the floor, as if trying to block the sound out. Gwen clamps a hand over he mouth, tears filling her eyes as they vaguely hear someone yelling in anger.
Arthur hesitates for only a moment in his shock, before pushing behind George and ripping the door open.
He stalks quickly into the room, Gwen and George on his heels as his gaze is immediately drawn to Dunstan drawing his fist back for the second blow.
Arthur is completely taken aback by the sight in front of him. Merlin was straightening up, recovering from the first hit, turning to look Lord Dunstan in the eyes with a blank expression. The Lord hadn’t noticed the other three enter the room, and Arthur has no time to yell before Merlin’s face is struck once again.
His head rocks to the side violently, and Arthur can see the spray of blood coming for the cut that Dunstan’s ring had left. Merlin takes a stumbled step back, but only looks to the side for a moment before taking a deep breath and, like before, returning to his original position with a blank look on his face.
Merlin notices Arthur, Gwen, and George over Dunstan’s shoulder, and his eyes go wide, but before he can say anything, or Gods forbid be hit again, Arthur speaks up.
His voice is low, and angry, but he just about manages to keep himself from attacking the Lord whilst his back is turned:
“What is the meaning of this?”
The Lord turns quickly, shaking his hand slightly to rid his knuckles of pain. Arthur has to resist the urge to launch himself at the man when he gives him a wide smile, as if he hadn’t a care in the world:
“Ah, King Arthur! I wasn’t expecting to see you until lunch. What can I help you with?”
Arthur’s jaw tenses as he glances quickly at Merlin’s bleeding cheek, before looking to Gwen and nodding in Merlin’s direction. Gwen takes the prompt with no hesitancy, moving quickly around the Lord to stand at Merlin’s side.
She tries to reach up to check his face, but Merlin gives her a short, reassuring smile before waving her off and fixing Arthur with a questioning stare.
Arthur ignores him, knowing that if he looks at him any longer he’ll fly in to a rage; choosing instead to direct a harsh gaze at Dunstan, who still has an innocent grin on his face:
“You can help, by explaining why on Gods Earth you thought it appropriate to lay hands upon a member of my staff.”
Dunstan looks a little confused, but doesn’t drop the smile entirely. He glances back at Merlin absent-mindedly before looking to The King once more:
“Nothing for you to concern yourself with-”
Arthur’s hands clench at his choice of words:
“-there was simply a mix up that required punishment.”
Arthur bristled, and took a menacing step towards the Lord, who at least had the decency to look a little self-conscious at the movement:
“No mistake that isn’t worth concerning myself with, warrants the physical beating of my employees. If you have any problems with the service, you are to bring it up to the Steward, or me directly. You are NOT to take it upon yourself to dole out punishment, am I understood?”
Arthur resists the urge to look at Merlin when he takes in a shocked breath, keeping his vicious gaze focused on Dunstan. The man sputters slightly, going red in the face as he rather indignantly retorts:
“Well, you’ve never had a problem with it before, Sire.”
Arthur takes a fortifying breath clenching his hands tighter as he grinds out:
“So you admit to physically abusing my staff?-”
Without waiting for a response, Arthur turns to Gwen:
“-Take Merlin to see the Court Physician,-”
He then looks to George behind him:
“-Inform the Kitchen, the Housekeeper, and the Steward, that Lord Dunstan will not being staying with us after all.”
Gwen takes Merlin by the arm, dragging him to the entrance despite his protests. George gives Arthur a brief bow, before rushing out the door behind them, leaving the furious King alone with the red-faced Lord.
Arthur turns back to look at him once again:
“I was, until recently, unaware of this ongoing problem. The people who work in this castle are under my protection, and they are not to be harmed under any circumstances. Until you can refrain from beating my staff, you are no longer welcome in my Kingdom. I want you out of the city by noon. I will be sending guards to help you find your way out.”
Without waiting for a response, Arthur turns and leaves the room, slamming the door behind him.
He takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself, before he strides quickly out of the castle and down to the training grounds. He gestures Leon and Percival over, and the confused knights rush to his side, Leon asking what’s wrong.
Arthur tenses his jaw slightly before quietly saying:
“Have Elyan take over training. I want you and Percival to go and supervise Lord Dunstan pack his things, and make sure he makes it out of the city before noon. I want him gone.”
Leon widens his eyes slightly, but covers it quickly. Percival is not so quick, looking concerned as he asks.
“Is Merlin alright??”
Arthur sighs, a little upset that his most loyal knights were aware of the situation and he wasn’t, but he covers it well, looking to the floor briefly:
“It could’ve been a lot worse. Gwen took him to Gaius, I’m going there now.”
The two knights nod at his response, before rushing back to the other knights. Arthur doesn’t bother to hang around as Leon talks to Elyan, choosing instead to head straight in the direction of the Physician’s Chambers.
Servants, guards, and Nobles alike jump out of his way in the corridor. Whether news has spread of Lord Dunstan’s essential banishment, or the angry look on his face scared them, Arthur didn’t know. But it didn’t matter, he payed it no attention, focussing only on the quickest route to Gaius’s chambers.
He meets George at the door, and the normally uptight servant gives him only a shallow bow before shakily saying:
“The kitchen and heads of staff have been informed, My Lord-”
He glances nervously to the door, before looking back to The King and continuing:
“-Is there anything else you require?”
Arthur immediately picks up on George’s desire to see if Merlin was alright, and shakes his head:
“Come in and help Gaius with anything he requires. After, I’d like you to find Tristan and see if he’s alright, he seemed a little shaken earlier.”
George nods very slightly, grateful, understanding that The King had just given him an excuse to check on Merlin before he had to continue with other jobs.
Arthur gives him a strained smile before entering the chambers without knocking, George hot on his heels. The servant shuts the door behind them, and they see Merlin sat on the table looking put out, whilst Gwen insists on holding his hand and Gaius bustles around.
The three of them look over when the door is opened, Gaius giving them barely a glance before going back to flitting about, Gwen giving them a small smile before looking back to Merlin, and Merlin nodding briefly at George before settling yet another questioning gaze on The King.
George stays in place by the door, his concern well-hidden as he stares at Merlin. Arthur takes a few more steps towards his confused manservant, clearing his throat before saying:
“Lord Dunstan will be gone by noon. I told him not to come back until he could refrain from hitting my staff.”
Gwen gives him a grateful smile, and Arthur hears George let out a relieved breath from behind him, but Merlin just tilts his head in confusion:
“I don’t know why everyone’s making such a fuss. I’ve definitely had worse, he doesn’t even hit that hard.”
Gwen groans and gently smacks him on the arm, muttering:
“That’s not the point, Merlin.”
George huffs quietly, before saying, louder than Gwen:
“Guinevere is right Merlin. Gaius, do you require any assistance?”
At Gaius’s casual wave of denial, George turns to Arthur, giving him his normal deep bow before glancing at Merlin once more as he leaves the room, shutting the door softly behind him.
Arthur was taken aback at Merlin’s casual reply, and when Gwen notices the pained shock on his face, she pats Merlin’s hand softly before whispering:
“It’s not ok, Merlin. I’ll leave you two to talk.”
Merlin gives her an incredulous look, but before he can retort, she’s gone from the room. That woman can move quickly when she wants to, but Arthur hardly notices as he continues to stare at the cut on Merlin’s cheek.
Gaius finally finds what he’s looking for and rushes over to Merlin, tilting his head so he can look at the cut properly, and cleaning it with a strong smelling alcohol as the younger man winces.
Gaius speaks slowly as he works, and Arthur moves closer, to stand next to him:
“Hmm. You’re lucky you didn’t fracture your cheekbone. There’s no concussion either, just make sure to keep this clean, my boy.”
Merlin goes to nod, but stops with a smile and roll of the eyes as Gaius huffs at the movement.
Arthur waits patiently, but gives Gaius a pointed look when he finishes. The aging physician gives him the patented eyebrow raise, before leaving the room without a word. Merlin ignores Arthur, watching Gaius walk out with a frown on his face and a muttered:
“Where’s he going?”
Arthur shakes his head, putting a forceful hand on Merlin’s shoulder when he goes to stand up. The manservant flinches away and Arthur retracts his hand quickly, as if he’d been burned.
Gods. That had happened in front of Arthur. He’d seen it, and shrugged it off, like Merlin’s pain was nothing. No wonder none of his staff came to him.
Merlin gets the idea nonetheless, and stays seated, furrowing his eyebrows:
“Why’d you make Dunstan leave? It’s only me he’s hit, people have done way worse.”
Arthur takes in a harsh breath, planting his feet to stop himself from pacing as he shakes his head:
“I didn’t know, Merlin. Gods, if I’d known that my staff were getting beaten I would’ve done something earlier.-”
He looks up, and Merlin is slightly taken aback by the desperation in his eyes:
“-I swear, I had no idea.”
Merlin tilts his head in confusion, talking slowly, as if to a child:
“But you... accepted all my excuses? I thought that was our way of acknowledging that it was happening and that we couldn’t do anything about it?”
Arthur exhales forcefully, but fails to stop himself from pacing this time. Merlin’s eyes follow him up and down the room as he speaks quickly:
“No! I really just thought you were that clumsy! Gods above Merlin, why didn’t you just tell me? The staff are under my protection, you should NOT have to volunteer to take violent masters just to protect the younger ones. No one should! There should be no violent masters in the first place!”
Merlin huffs and rolls his eyes as he replies:
“I’ve had worse, Arthur. And besides, this has always happened, it’s the way of things. The rich and noble get to do whatever they want to the... not-so rich and noble.”
Arthur turns to him in shock, upset that Merlin seems to have no problem with regularly being beaten for no reason:
“Merlin! That shouldn’t be the way of things.-”
Arthur takes a step towards him, and puts a hand on his (uninjured) shoulder. Merlin’s eyes soften at the touch, and The King takes a deep breath before continuing:
“-And it stops now. If anyone, and I mean anyone, is violent or needlessly aggressive with the staff, I want to be informed immediately, no matter what. Even if you have to walk out on your duties or interrupt a meeting, I don’t care.”
Merlin shakes his head, laughing slightly, much to Arthur’s confusion:
“I don’t see what the big deal is?! No one but me gets hurt anyway, and it’s not like telling you will make them stop. I’m perfectly capable of filling in for the others, I have a high pain tolerance-”
He nudges the cut on his cheek slightly with a finger:
“-I can’t even feel it, see?”
Arthur growls slightly, slapping away Merlin’s hand before roughly saying:
“It is a big deal Merlin. You shouldn’t have to fill in for the others, because they shouldn’t need protecting from their own masters in the first place!-”
The anger drains out of Arthur suddenly and he sags, before looking up to Merlin with unconcealed sorrow on his face, and continuing in a shaky voice:
“-Just because you can take it, doesn’t mean you should have to. I’m not questioning your strength or stupid pain tolerance here Merlin, I’m trying to help. Frankly, I don’t want to trust the safety and well-being of my subjects to men who beat them just because they can anyway. Will you please just accept that I don’t like seeing you, or any of my other staff, in pain, and do what I ask for once?”
Merlin tilts his head, as if still struggling with the idea that this shouldn’t be happening, but at Arthur’s pleading eyes, he sighs and nods, before speaking quietly:
“Alright, fine. But if you put me in the stocks for accusing one of your Nobles of being an arsehole in front of the council, then I’m going to be pissed-”
Arthur shakes his head roughly, responding with conviction:
“I wouldn’t.”
Merlin raises an eyebrow in amusement, before shrugging his shoulders slightly. His eyes harden, and he takes a deep breath before saying, in a voice that invites no argument:
“But I won’t ever stop protecting the others. I’ll always volunteer to serve the aggressive ones, and if you try to stop me, I’ll do that thing you hate where I completely disobey your orders.”
Arthur lets out a gentle laugh, shaking his head slightly:
“I wouldn’t expect you to anyway.-”
The King looks back up at his manservant, an assessing look in his eye as he says:
“-It seems that you’re quite... paternal, when it comes to the younger servants; protecting them from violence to your own detriment,-”
He raises his eyebrow slightly as he continues:
“-teaching them to read and write?”
Merlin blushes slightly and looks down, mumbling:
“I was lucky in Ealdor, my mum taught me the basics; I wasn’t very good, but Gaius helped me when I got to Camelot.-”
He shrugs slightly before continuing, still refusing to look up at the man in front of him:
“-I just think everyone deserves a chance, so I teach them when I’ve got time.-”
He does look up now, smirking slightly as he says:
“-a good thing I learnt as well, otherwise who would proof read and improve your God awful speeches?”
Arthur looks indignant and offended for all of two seconds before he laughs and nods his head reluctantly:
“You have a point. You know, if you want some time in the week to give properly structured lessons, I could figure something out. I’m sure we can find an empty room in the castle for you to use, and the crown will pay for anything you need.”
Merlin brightens noticeably, a wide smile on his face as he rushes to say:
“Really?! That would be great, I know they really want to learn but it’s difficult when I only have an hour here and there, especially when they all have jobs to do as well.”
Arthur laughs gently as he nods his head, deciding that it’s a little ridiculous, how desperate he is to keep that smile on Merlin’s face for as long as possible:
“Of course. We can discuss it with the Steward, but how about... a morning one day, and an afternoon another day? You can split the group into two, that means the castle isn’t missing too many staff at once.”
Merlin nods, not dropping the enthusiastic smile once, and Arthur chuckles fondly.
Yes, Arthur thinks, yes, that smile, for as long as possible.

THE END!
Maybe it’s a tad anti-climactic, but some fluff is just like that I suppose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, I noticed you write for Peter Pettigrew,,, I was wondering if you could write something for him and a female s/o? Where he has to introduce his incredibly shy, Hufflepuff s/o to the other Marauders. Bonus points if she’s short, like 4’11-5’0. You can ignore this if you’d prefer not to write it. Have a wonderful day.
i will always write for my baby. your wish is my command. also sorry if this isn’t what you were imagining!
Young!Peter Pettigrew x fem!reader
summary: For days Peter had been non-stop talking to his friends about his girlfriend and for the life of them, they could never catch him with her. Peter hated getting bothered by them as much as he did so to put them at ease, he arranges an introduction.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The hallways of Hogwarts were ones of great architecture and historic stories that the many portraits of old witches and wizards absolutely loved to talk and brag about. Students and ghosts alike walked along the corridors every day without really admiring it apart from when statues liked to jump out at them or portraits grabbed their attention with things varying from manic laughter to noisy singing. It truly was a work of art.
It looked like somewhere royals or people in high society back in the olden days would come to stay for their Honeymoon or just for a small change of scenery and no matter how strict the rules, how tidy the uniforms or how high the expectations, students definitely did not act as tidy or as civilised as a royal or a lady or lord would do.
A prime example would be groups of rowdy teenage boys thinking insulting innocent bystanders or making creepy comments about a girls body would be a proper thing to do in a hallway as grand as the ones in Hogwarts. Another example would be the much rowdier, much more irresponsible pranksters of Hogwarts that rivalled against the other boys in witty comments or just funny circumstances.
You often rolled your eyes at their work or mutter quietly about them under your breath when they passed, practically yelling for the whole corridor to hear unless they were about to pull a prank and whispering which is where you would normally make your leave from that particular corridor. But they seemed to be everywhere you went and you didn’t see why until a particular member of the group approached you in the Kitchens one night when you were getting your midnight snack from the house elves.
He said he liked you which made you look around for maybe a sign of the other boys in wonder if this was some sort of prank. But it wasn’t and he...actually liked you. It definitely didn’t escape your notice that the boy was one of the quiet ones and seemed to be holding his breath when he confessed. Sadly, the confession was right before the summer so all you could do was send letters over the holidays which were slightly awkward.
More so when you returned to school and found yourself glancing at each other from across the hallways before you turned and scurried off in another direction after smiling. Then he began to join you on your midnight snack journeys which developed into a beautiful relationship full of blushes, grins and soft, gentle kisses stolen before you had to separate.
Pranks your way were avoided and you were practically living in bliss until he proposed that he wanted you to meet his friends. As in the rowdy ones, as in the ones that get all the good scores no matter how hard you try and the ones that always disrupt your reading time in the library.
It was safe to say that you were nervous because you were nothing like them, loud noises weren’t your thing and you’d much prefer to curl up next to the Black Lake with a book in your hand then join the group of boys in the Great Hall where they probably threw food at each other and if someone else's food ever touched you, you felt like you might be sick. Not to mention the fact that all of them are giants compared to you.
“They are going to love you.” Peter promised, his grip on your hand tight as he tried to drag you down the hallway whilst you planted your feet firmly to the ground. For someone so small, he was amazed at how much you can resist his pull.
“They’re going to hate me.” You argued back attempting to pull him the other way but definitely not succeeding. “I’m awkward and lonely and weird and obsessed with bees which is definitely not normal.”
“It’s cute.” He chuckled, giving up on his pulling but being pulled towards you by your grip when he had given up. You stumbled but he grabbed you arms and stabilised you before you could fall forward and hit the floor. “You’re cute.”
“I am not like them.” You took yourself out of his arms with a mutter, frowning slightly whilst Peter frowned too. “They’re loud and you’ve been friends with them forever and I’m just new. If they don’t like me then we’re gonna...”
“I’m not gonna break up with you if they don’t like you.” Peter shook his head and stepped close, his hand reaching down to tilt your chin up so he was looking down into your eyes. “They’ll love you...I promise.”
“I’m just nervous, I’ve never even thought of being friends with them. They’re just so loud and I...I’m quiet and shy and I stick my face in a book every time they come near me. I just know that they’ll find me weird, Peter.” You covered your face with you hands, shaking your head.
“Oh, baby...” He wrapped his arms around you in a hug and you welcomed it gratefully, hopefully he would listen to you...but no, Peter lifted you up and put you easily over his shoulder as you yelped and kicked your legs. “Come on.”
“Peter, no, please.” You begged as he walked down the corridor with you over his shoulders and consequently receiving a lot of stares which you shyly leant your head on his back to try and get rid of the stares. You were just happy that it was the weekend and you were wearing jeans instead of a skirt. “Pete, please put me down.”
“Not until we’re at the hall and you see how excited they are to meet you.” He laughed as you groaned at him and nuzzled your head into his back as you turned a corner. Your palms were beginning to get sweaty and you felt your breathing pick up slightly at you nervousness.
“Peter, seriously.” Your voice had retreated to a small murmur, no longer were you joking around. You really didn’t think that his friends would like you, they were confident and charming and you were reserved, flustered easily and talked about bees all the time. Hell, in the summer you were in an environmental protest against pollution whilst they were probably having fun swimming somewhere.
“You’ll be fine, angel. We’re here.” He said and slowly lowered you from his shoulder, you nervously glanced around when you noticed you were outside the Great Hall and you looked into it to see the familiar three boys sat at the Gryffindor Table. “Hey.” You looked at Peter again. “I’ll be right there with you. They may be tall and slightly intimidating but they’re nice.”
“Sirius once spilt tea on my book and didn’t apologise.”
“He’s an energetic guy, he probably didn’t notice.” Peter tilted his head and you nodded in acceptance, pursing your lips. When he did it, you didn’t confront him and just moved away mumbling under your breath and shaking out your book. “Ready?”
You hesitated as he took your hand and started walking into the Great Hall, dragging you behind him with a small grin on his face.
“No.” You finally answered, gulping and stepping closer to Peter as you got closer to the three boys flinging pieces of bread at each other.
“Too slow.” Peter grinned back at you, tugging you along and you whined, deciding to catch up to him but walk behind him in an attempt to hide from the others. You were there in no time and tucked yourself behind Peter, hoping that your size would prevent you from being seen. “Hey boys, since you’ve been asking...here she is.”
You only heard silence as you stayed behind Peter, gulping nervously.
“I fucking knew she was imaginary, I called it.” The voice of Sirius Black came from in front of Peter before he exclaimed in pain after sounding like he was being hit with something.
Out of curiosity, you tried to peak out from behind your boyfriends shoulder as little as possible but a pair of soft brown eyes met yours instead and you found yourself frozen in place as you stared straight at Remus Lupin and he raised his eyebrows at you. You slowly went back behind Peter, knowing it was stupid because he’d seen you but you did it anyway, raised eyebrows could mean a million different things.
“She’s not imaginary, Padfoot, she’s just behind him.” Remus said and you shut your eyes in regret as your forehead fell forward and hit Peter’s back whilst he moved out of the way and you were faced with three pairs of eyes staring up at you. “Hi, I’m Remus.”
“James.”
“Sirius, but you can call me anytime.”
Peter took a daily prophet off of the table and hit him on the head with it as Sirius laughed and raised his hands in defence, you smiled awkwardly at it and avoided all eye contact. Your hand squeezed Peter’s slightly and he looked between you and his friends, frowning again.
“This is Y/N L/N, my girlfriend.” He introduced and gestured you forward slightly, you glanced up and gave a small wave at them. James was smiling at you, Remus was smiling only a little bit but mainly just examining you and Sirius narrowed his eyes at you before standing.
He towered over you and you gulped as you tilted your head up and his grey eyes examined you with a small smirk tugging at his lips. You backed up slightly, Peter’s hand on the small of your back as he stroked soft circles with his thumb. You continued to avoid eye contact.
“You are tiny.” He stated and you nodded with a small clear of your throat, your eyes trained to the floor. “Well, to me you are. I’m sure Pete has an easier time since he’s tiny too.”
“5′9 is not tiny.” Peter defended and Sirius snorted, sitting back down at his chair as you breathed out in slight relief and stood awkwardly for a second.
“Take a seat if you like, we don’t bite.” James smiled and you about to tell him that it was okay and you didn’t actually want to be there anywhere but Peter nodded encouragingly at you and you sat opposite Lupin, Peter sitting next to you and putting an arm around your waist to let you know that he was there and close.
“So how did you two meet?” Remus asked, biting a bit of his sandwich as James nodded from next to him, both of their gazes were on you and you could feel Sirius staring at you too.
You thought Peter was going to answer so you looked up at him but he was looking at you too, nodding his head and he gave your waist a quick squeeze. You gulped and turned your head back around, eyes trained to the table.
“Well, uh, I was getting...a snack at night and then he, uh, came in and yeah...yeah.” You mumbled, clearing your throat slightly and looking up at the boys before back at the table and then back up at the boys. Your hands were fidgeting together under the table and your knee was bouncing.
“You snuck all the way to the kitchens at night without getting caught?” James widened his eyes as he looked around at his friends and you glanced up, back down again and then up one more time.
“Well, I’m a- I’m a Hufflepuff so my common room is uh...right next to the kitchens.” You nodded slowly.
“Useful.” Sirius said and you glanced at him quickly, furrowing your eyebrows at his narrowed eyes as he looked at you.
“I-I don’t understand...useful for what?” You looked around at them all nervously, Sirius was the one to answer so you looked at him again and found him smirking down at you.
“Pranks.” He shrugged his shoulders, grinning and you gulped again, nodding and smiling awkwardly as you turned your head to Peter who smiled again and rubbed his hand on your waist. “So, Y/N my tiny friends tiny girlfriend, what do you like to do?”
“I’m uh, I’m a passionate advocate for environmental change.” You said, nodding as your eyes found comfort on the table once more. Glancing up once, you caught Remus’ smile as he looked at you and you awkwardly smiled back. “I like to read, anything really no genres. I love exploring different cultures and uh...I like bees.”
“Bees?” James furrowed his eyebrows with a grin as he leaned forward and you nodded awkwardly. “That’s adorable.”
“Why do you like bees?” Sirius laughed. “Is it because they’re yellow and black like your tie?”
“Well, almost 90% of wild plants and 75% of leading global crops depend on animal pollination so they do a lot for us and they look nice on the flowers in my garden.” You said and glanced up to them all smiling at you.
“I’ll have to see your garden sometime.” James mentioned and your eyes snapped over to him as your fidgeting hands slowed down but your knee kept bouncing. “I love flowers. Especially Lilies.”
The boys all laughed and even you managed to crack a small smile at James’ infamous crush on Gryffindor Lily Evans. You felt Peter’s hand squeeze your hip slightly and you looked over at him, your eyes managing to lock in comparison to how you avoided the rest of their gazes. You were sure that your cheeks were flushed at the attention you got but Peter only smiled and kissed your cheek as you scrunched your face up with an adorable smile in his opinion.
“I told you they’d love you.” He whispered into your ear, kissing your cheek again before you both directed your attention back to Sirius’ talking.
The prince of lies (Loki x reader)
Soulmate AU: Every time your soulmate lies, their words are permanently written on your skin
Word count: 3140 Words
I think this is the last Soulmate one that I have on Wattpad as of right now
Father is dead. Your banishment... The threat of a new war...it was too much for him to bear. You mustn't blame yourself. I know that you loved him. I tried to tell him so, but he wouldn't listen.
The truce with Jotunheim is conditional upon your exile
Mother has forbidden your return
This is goodbye brother, I'm so sorry
Perhaps your senses have weakened after your many years of service
I'M NOT YOUR BROTHER I NEVER WAS!
I don't know what happened on earth to make you so soft! Don't tell me it was that woman?... Oh, it was. Well, when we're done here, maybe I'll pay her a visit myself!
You're not
(etc. more lies)
Lies...
Every single one of them. How did you know? Well, because they were printed all over your body.
Every single lie your soulmate ever told up until now graced your (s/c) skin.
How was a liar like that supposed to be a soulmate for you? Someone you could trust?
Yes, your so called soulmate would never be able to lie to you, for as soon as he tried the lie would appear on your skin. Had they only been some minor white lies, that would've probably been fine by you, but looking at the severity of those lies you could only shake your head in disbelief and sorrow for whoever had received those news.
Now ignoring the fact that those statements were lies, there were other aspects that made absolutely no sense. Those you had already researched quite a bit . Jotunheim for a start was a mythical place and the lies stated that apparently the liar and his brother were not from earth, which was complete nonsense was it not? Otherwise he had to be some kind of alien.
You were interrupted in the middle of your thought-process.
I missed you too
A new lie, gracing your forearm. Though this one seemed rather small and harmless, this man was still lying through his teeth and you had to carry every single one of those lies. How often had you been asked why your body was full of lies. Yet you never had an answer to those questions. He was your soulmate, even if he was a liar he had to be good somewhere, right?
Aliens and beings from other worlds did exist though. Thor the god of thunder and the events of New York city. Did they have soulmates as well? They had to, otherwise the statements on your features made even less sense.
But who?
Who would lie so much?
The thoughts in your head kept floating around as you got ready to meet up with your friend Anthony.
You started walking to a nearby park. Your usual meeting point, as you felt yet another familiar tingle. Pushing it to the back of your head in hopes of ignoring it, you kept walking towards your friend and hugged him "It's good to see you" you smiled but only got a confused stare in return "What?" "You uh...got a new one there, a long one." A sigh escaped your lips at the reply of Anthony. "Well, where? And does it at least make sense?" Your friend just shook his head as he took a picture of the lettering on your collarbone "No, but here. Maybe you can understand some of this. It looks like sarcasm this time." He gave you his phone to look at the picture. Great another one.
Wait? Sarcasm? One thing you had to give your soulmate credit for were his snarky remarks, at least those sometimes put a smile on your face. You zoomed in on your collarbone as you read what was engraved on the previously clear space of (s/c) skin.
You know this is wonderful! This a tremendous idea! Let's steal the biggest most obvious ship in the universe and escape in that! Flying around the city, smash it into everything in sight and everyone will see it! It's brilliant Thor! It's truly brilliant...
Thor?! You could not believe your eyes. Whoever your soulmate was knew Thor. It was a shock and a relief as well. If he was friends with this god he couldn't be so bad, could he? You did however, question why Thor would spend time, let alone steal some kind of spaceship with this person.
"I see. I can't say I understand what it's about, but whoever this liar of mine is, seems to be friends with Thor..." The words left your mouth as you handed the phone back to your dear friend. The two of you sat down on a wooden bench underneath a tree, but when you heard Anthony speak up, your mind went blank "He could also be Thor's brother, doesn't that one lie a lot?" It took you a few moments to fully comprehend what he meant "No, that'd be impossible, that man is sitting behind bars for the rest of his life. Besides, that guy is evil. My soulmate could never possibly be a bad person." that last part was a lie. Your soulmate was a liar, he could easily be a bad person, you just hoped with all your might that he wasn't"
■ ■ ■
"Trust my rage" the god of mischief spoke. Just as he had finished his sentence he felt a tingle on his wrist. A rare occasion if it was a real lie, usually it was just a sarcastic comment which most of the time he enjoyed quite a bit. These sarcastic statements often caused a small smile to appear on his face, the few nice moments that made the time in his cell more bearable, not only did he find them funny and witty, they also stood for his soulmate, for someone that was destined for him and also that he was a perfect fit for whoever this soulmate was. He looked at his bare wrist expectantly, waiting for one of the snarky remarks that his soulmate had spoken to appear. When it did appear though, it broke his heart. His cold expression fell for a second as he looked at the writing on his wrist. Quickly regaining his cold exterior before anyone would notice. It was too late though. His brother had seen the trickster's face falter just in time and he had also seen what Loki was staring at. Before the raven-haired could pull his hand back he felt it had already been grabbed "Let go of me Thor!"
"Brother, just let me see!" Thor replied loudly, he wanted to know what this was about. Loki looked away in shame as he let his brother read what his soulmate had said. My soulmate could never possibly be a bad person. As he finished reading he loosened his grip on the other's hand, allowing Loki to finally pull his hand back "I'm sorry" he muttered. "They think I'm a monster too..." The black haired god whispered as he sat down in the small ship, his stone cold exterior dropping by the second. Was a soulmate not meant to understand? Was there really no hope for him?
"Loki..."
"Stop it. Don't pity me for something that's my own fault!" he screamed. He just needed a moment to calm down.
■ ■ ■
"How is this possible? How do I deal with this? I can't just ignore it can I? No" before you knew it you found yourself in front of a massive building. Stark tower. Your (e/c) eyes stared at the monument in awe, but you soon shook your head in order to resume your task. "Enter the tower and talk to the avengers on how to communicate with Thor. You have to do this because Thor knows your soulmate..." you repeated in your head as you entered the building...
...or so you thought.
In the blink of an eye you were consumed by light and gone from where you stood. Was that some kind of security system Stark invented?
Your eyes fluttered open just to see some old man on a throne before your sight went black and your body dropped to the ground unconscious.
■ ■ ■
"Are you certain Heimdall?" the king asked, looking at the unconscious human, who was now dressed to fit the Asgardian culture. He was inspecting some of the tattoos on their body "You were right they definitely are his soulmate. Though they seem to be a rather honest person, for Loki does not have as many markings on him. As far as I know at least"
What were they talking about? Who were these people, why did they speak of you in a connection to Loki, it made no sense. None at all. You tried to look like you were still passed out.
But apparently you failed in your acting. "The human is awake" a different voice spoke. Maybe it belonged to this Heimdall person.
A sigh of defeat left your lips as you opened your eyes. You tried to take in your surroundings when suddenly, your eyes went wide from the sensation on your skin.
You sighed as you waited for the writing to appear on one of your upper arms. "Oh boy this is a long one" You muttered underneath your breath, but it seems Odin had heard, for he raised an eyebrow as his eyes followed your gaze to your arm which you had uncovered from the strange clothing you were dressed in. The king had taken a hold of your arm to read your words.
You really think I cared about Frigga? About any of you? All I ever wanted was you and Odin dead at my feet! Malekith! I am Loki of Jotunheim and I bring you a gift! I ask only one thing in return, a good seat from which to watch Asgard burn.
"Fools!" Odin shouted.
Meanwhile you thought your eyes were about to pop out of their sockets as you tried to comprehend the meaning behind those words. The only thing you could focus on however, was the name etched in your skin. His name. Loki.
Your thoughts were interrupted when the Allfather spoke up again "Send guards to Svartálfheimr and retrieve my sons! Bring the Aether back if it's still there!"
His sons?
It was at that moment. Realisation hit you like a bus. You were in Asgard and this man before you had to be Odin then. Your brows furrowed. Why were you here? How did you get here?
"Come. You must have many questions." The king said as you got up and followed him "I am Odin of Asgard. Tell me child what is your name?" "M-my name is (Y/n) (L/n). How-how did I get here?" you stuttered as you looked around still walking. "I gave orders to bring you here" He replied casually.
■ ■ ■
The Jotun prince laid on the ground panting as his brother cradled him in his strong arms "No. No, no, no. Oh, you fool, you didn't listen." "I know." Loki spoke, his voice quiet and weak "I'm a fool. I'm a fool." he gasped in pain. "Stay with me, okay?" The god of thunder spoke close to tears as he pat the other's face to keep him conscious. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" the young god apologized gasping for air but he was quickly shushed by his brother "shhh...it's okay" Thor nodded as tears welled up in his blue eyes. "It's all right. I'll tell father what you did here today" He spoke again the tears now making their way down his cheeks. "I didn't do it for him" The raven haired spoke calmly. As he took his dying breath he spoke his last words "Tell them, I didn't want to be a monster" Just like that the god closed his eyes and went limp in his brother's arms. "NOOO!" Thor shouted in pain and hugged Loki. "I will find them and tell them in your stead brother" He whispered into the other's ear before he let go and left with Jane. Loki's limp body was left in the sand and dirt.
■ ■ ■
"I take it, you know who your soulmate is, judging by your reaction. It must certainly be hard to carry all the lies of the god of mischief and lies" Odin raised his eyebrow. "I have heard quite a few stories about him indeed." You replied taking a sip of your tea. You were seated in the throne room across from Odin as he tried to answer some of your questions.
In the middle of your conversation a guard entered and as soon as he spoke up you felt a burning and tingling just underneath your chest.
"Forgive me my liege. I've returned from the Dark World with news. " The guard spoke.
"Thor?" Odin asked with hope. The guard dropped his head a bit at that "There was no sign of Thor or the weapon, but..." As soon as the man spoke up again the tingling began once again in the same place as before. "What?" the Allfather asked.
The tingles continued "We found a body."
Silence filled the air for a moment before Odin spoke "Loki"
The guard just looked at his king with sad eyes. The burning had stopped. "Thank you. Bring this one..." The old king pointed at you "...to Heimdall. Tell him to return them to Midgard. Then you may be dismissed for the day."
Your chin dropped as the guard nodded and turned to you. Oh now you were definitely not going to tell the god that Loki was alive and lying. He grabbed you roughly and brought you out of the throne room and to another room, the room you had woken up in. "Gather your belongings mortal before you return to Midgard." Midgard? Was that what they called earth. As the guard was about to close the door you shouted after him "Mister guard man! Wait!" He raised an eyebrow at you, seemingly amused, but he waited for you to speak nonetheless and so you did "Loki can't be dead." He stared at you confused "Well he is."
Another tingle. This time on your finger, but you ignored it for now seeing as you were focused on the conversation you were having "No. I don't think you understand. I-I know he is alive. I can feel it." A small smile was placed on your lips as the man before you began to laugh, he seemed curious though "And how would a little mortal like you know that? Oh you feel it, of course"
"I-I don't know how I know" That was a lie for you did know why and how "I just know." You finished, he seemed distracted though. While the guard was distracted you took a moment to look at the side of your pinkie finger. "No." You mumbled when you realized the man before you was your soulmate, disguised as a guard. "What?" The man asked. "Nothing" you lied, a small smile on your lips. You were scared yes, but he wouldn't hurt his own soulmate, now would he? "Would you please come in and close the door Loki?~" You asked innocently.
His eyes went wide, confused as to how a simple human like you could look through his disguise with such ease. So he complied. He didn't really have a choice now. As he closed the door, he dissolved his disguise. Green smoke surrounded the man as Loki the trickster god stood before you now. He was stunning. Yes there was a deep hatred for this man inside you, but he did something good today and you hadn't met him before. Well not personally, you had however seen him on TV as he tried to take over the world, you had heard he was under some kind of mind control though. "You are a curious little thing, aren't you?" Loki spoke as he approached you "Who are you and how did you know it was me mortal?"
You grinned "I'm no one important to you" Your smile widened as you noticed him being distracted again. You watched in awe as your statement appeared on the back of his hand.
The black haired god stared at you in disbelief "No...no no no no. How? That's not possible" Before you realized what was happening he was already too close for comfort. He grabbed one of your arms and shoved up your sleeves. Perhaps your senses have weakened after your many years of service. Disbelief filled Loki's eyes as they pierced your own gaze. He let go of your hand as some kind of hatred but also hope filled his eyes "You hate me. You think I'm a monster." He spoke with clenched teeth. He was trying to compose himself, to seem calm, but you easily looked through his disguise. "I do not" You replied, your (e/c) eyes were soft as you looked at him. He stood there, waiting for the tingling and burning somewhere on his pale body. But the feeling never came. You had been truthful. "I know better than to lie to my soulmate." The words escaped your throat before you could even think. "Why did you say it then?!" The god growled. "Said wha-" The mischievous man cut you off "My soulmate could never possibly be a bad person" he quoted your lie "what changed?"
"I-I" you were speechless "I said that, knowing that anyone could be my soulmate, I tried to convince myself to see things positively. I did not know it would affect you as it was about soulmates in general. I am sorry for causing you pain Loki"
"So you don't think I'm a bad person?" he asked, turning your words around "I do know of the bad things you did. You tried to take over my home. I cannot confirm that you are a completely bad person though. I-I don't know you well enough to judge. For I try to build my opinion when I get to know people myself, even if this person is the prince of lies. Besides, you can't be too bad if you are my soulmate, at least not towards me" You grinned, reaching out your hand for him to shake "I'm (Y/n) by the way."
Loki looked at your hand, a smirk on his lips as he held your hand in his and brought it up to his lips to press a small kiss against the back of it. His eyes never leaving yours as a blush took over your features "It is a pleasure to meet you (Y/n). My name is Loki and I do not think I'll send you off to Midgard just yet, if ever..." The last two words were not meant for you to hear but you did. "Before we get to know each other better my soulmate~" he smirked "I have to take care of my father and brother." He turned around and walked towards the door "You stay here for now" the man winked at you before he turned himself into the guard again and left the room.
Congratulations Rin-san! Your writings are amazing you deserve them
As for the prompt drabbles, may I have ["You came back." "I promised, didn't I?"] for Floyd/gn!MC ? Thank you in advance 💕
A/N: You know what I love? Fluff scenarios that start with angst. I love it. It’s like eating ice cream and getting brain freeze only for the next bite to literally cure your depression. I hope this way okay q wq
Warnings: None!
Floyd Leech
Floyd wondered just what Shrimpy was doing right now.
They usually popped around the Monstro Lounge around this hour. With arms full of books and a tired smile that spoke of staying over until closing time to finish an assignment.
An assignment that would end up forgotten as Floyd ignore all his responsibilities to sit down and talk with them.
Shrimpy was one of the few reasons he sometimes went to classes. Nevermind trying to tease Goldfish or finding another forgotten anemone that needed to be squeezed, if Floyd’s eyes landed on his Shrimpy’s figure he would drop whatever he was doing and trot over to wrap them up in his arms.
When was the last time he had even given a hug?
Right. In the Mirror Chamber.
After Shrimpy told him that they would come back.
It wasn’t that he didn’t believe them but Floyd was not stupid. He wasn’t one to raise his expectations or believe that the impossible could happen. Besides he had tried. He had even gone and made a contract with Azul to try and get Shrimpy back to Twisted Wonderland! But Azul would only shake his head and say that Floyd knew better than anybody that he wasn’t a miracle worker.
So that is where he is at, with his head on the Monstro Lounge bar while all these dumb emotions made him feel like he had just gotten beached.
“Floyd.”
A pen is placed on the top of his head, Floyd grunting as he hears his brother’s voice.
“Did you finish your report?”
He just grunted in reply to his brother’s question, which earned him a prolonged sigh.
“It’s due tomorrow. If you don’t turn it in Mr.Crewel will--”
Hands slam down on the low lit bar, Floyd raising his head and letting out a frustrated scream.
“AH! I DON’T CARE! I DON’T CARE ABOUT SOME STUPID PAPER OR WHAT DOGFISH-SENSEI WILL SAY! I JUST WANT SHRIMPY BACK.”
Jade blinks at the sudden outburst of emotion, shaking his head as Floyd scratches at his.
“Floyd. They’ve been gone for six months.”
The merman rolls his eyes, what a nice doting brother he had.
“Shut up Jade.”
“What I’m trying to say is that you are going to have to pick yourself back up. You are about to enter your third year--”
Jade’s teeth click shut as Floyd let’s out another scream.
“SHUT UP! SHUT UP SHUT UP! I DON’T WANT TO THINK ABOUT ANYTHING ANYMORE! EVERYTHING HAS BECOME SO BORING NOW THAT SHRIMPY IS GONE. I’M DONE! TELL AZUL THAT I’M QUITTING.”
“Well isn’t that unfortunate.” Azul’s voice rang out through the Lounge, “Guess I get to keep the gift I got for you to myself, right Floyd?”
Floyd grits his teeth as he turns around to cuss out his former ‘boss’, doing his best to channel all of his sadness and loneliness into rage. If he did that then surely he wouldn’t cry...
Yet all of that tension and anger melted as he looked into your eyes.
Azul smiled as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders, “Well [Y/N]-san? Does that mean you are my present now?”
You were about to retort with a witty remark, having thought of one ever since Azul had sent you off to your own world with a rather sarcastic comment. This was payback time!
But your vision was immediately blocked, arms pressing you against a broad and warm chest as Floyd immediately hugged you and dragged you as far away from Azul as he possibly could. It was you, after all. Floyd dragged you all the way back to his seat while his arms kept you firm against him.
There wasn’t any way that this wasn’t you. The way you laughed as you pressed your palms against his chest in an effort to pull him away. You would always do that when he distracted you and the pressure felt so familiar that it almost brought Floyd to tears.
It was you. It was you!
“Floyd.”
Your voice. Floyd didn’t want to admit it but he was starting to forget it. If he had forgotten the way you called out to him, then he really wouldn’t have known what to do.
He pulls you away from him slowly, his arms sliding down to your waist so that he can still keep you pressed to him. You looked up at him with a soft smile, reaching out to cup his face in his hands as he pushed into your touch.
“...you came back...”
How pathetic. His voice was cracking. You, however, barely paid attention as you brought him down to kiss his eyelid, helping one tear finally trail down Floyd’s cheek.
“I promised, didn’t I?”
That’s right. You promised. How could Floyd think that you wouldn’t go through with your promises? You were the most interesting thing he had ever met, after all!
Only you could surprise him like this.
Hi! If you’re taking requests could you write a Mollymauk x Reader where they’re really close friends and he calls her a bunch of cute nicknames but then Molly notices that she starts getting really dejected or just leaves when he starts talking to new people and she ends up confessing that it’s because she’s fallen for him and doesn’t like to be around when he’s calling other random strangers “darling” and “love”? Thank you!!!
Hope you enjoy! 😘
-
When you were walking down the streets in search for a place to stay the night Molly had pulled you along by your arm wrapping it around his, proudly parading around like he usually does, the Nein following his lead, some of them definitely not keeping their opinions to themselves watching you two go. Of course these comments are simply met with a laugh and a kiss to your temple, words whispered in your ear to make you blush. The red creeping up your cheeks as you shoot a glance backwards are usually enough to make those comments from Beau at least to stop. Jester, the hopeless romantic she is will just squeal and take out here sketchbook to capture this moment in detail.
Inn found, the place is nice and cozy but also a bit more pricy than the group had hoped. That’s an easy task for Mollymauk Tealeaf to fix. He lets go of your arm when you reach the bar, the others behind and leans on the counter top on his elbows biting his tongue and giving an innocent half smile letting the pointed canines show in all their glory as he bats his eyelashes.
“Are you sure you can’t give us a special deal? We’re taking four rooms already. Some of us will already share but I don’t particularly enjoy sleeping on the floor. Do you think you’d have a better offer, handsome.” Molly winks at the barkeep who, admittedly isn’t bad on the eyes is also taken aback by the tiefling’s blatant advances. So much so he stutters on offering a decent discount as Molly reaches out brushing his hand over the exposed lower arm of the barkeep who’s more bothered by being seen by his other patrons than the tiefling’s gestures. Molly’s enjoying every second of this as is clear by the attitude he carries, the grin on his face and the mischievous look in his eyes and he’s so caught up in his act he doesn’t notice you excuse yourself taking one of the keys and rushing off to one of the rooms.
“You’re a darling. Thank you so much for your generosity.” That’s the last you hear as you watch Molly lean in over the bar a little closer and the barkeep blushes wildly. With a shake of your head and boiling blood you walk up the stairs, enter the room and slam the door closed behind you dropping yourself onto the bed face buried into the pillow and let out a scream of frustration to be muffled by the the pillow.
It takes a good fifteen minutes of Molly flirting with the barkeep to also get a discount on meals and drinks for the night. He’d gladly sacrifice his time, not only because they’re running short on money and need the coin but also because he generally likes to mess with people and it was so easy. He had the barkeep a stuttering mess in seconds. That’s something to be proud of isn’t it? Either way he prides himself for it. Nevermind, the others are settled at a table, drinks poured but one’s missing. You’re missing. Where did you go? Molly looks around the tavern but doesn’t see you. He doesn’t miss a beat sending a wink to the barkeep when they make eye contact but returns his attention to the Nein.
“The pretty one, where did she go?” Molly asks.
“I’m right here Molly. Or am I not pretty enough for you?” Beau snorts slamming back her drink. She knows fully well he means you and she won’t miss an opportunity to tease the tiefling now she’s got ammo. She’ll play this game any day.
“The annoying one, that’s what you are.” Molly replies as Beau sticks out her tongue and takes the drink Jester slipped to her for seconds. Two drinks right after arrival? That does not bode well for the night… for Beau. He, however will have plenty of entertainment provided by the monk once she starts a drunken bar fight. At least they won’t be the ones getting kicked out. He’s got that barkeep in his pocket.
“Fuck you too, Mollymauk.” Beau grumbles into her tankard.
“I think she went upstairs to settle in but she’s not come back yet. Should we save her a drink?” Jester speaks as she holds back a unclaimed tankard from Nott the Brave who’s already done with her own.
“That’s alright. Thank you, Jester, for providing a useful answer to my previous question.” Beau shakes her head at Molly’s words but holds her tongue as Jester allows Nott to take the remaining tankard and before Beau can claim his, he slides it across the table over to Nott who defends it like there’s no tomorrow. Beau flips him off as he goes upstairs with a laugh.
Opening the door to your room without knocking Mollymauk sees you face down on the bed, belongings discarded at the foot of the bed. For a moment he considers you might just have tossed yourself onto the bed and allowed the exhaustion of the journey to overtake you but your breathing doesn’t match that of your sleeping form. Molly sneaks up to the foot of the bed and wraps an arm around your ankle yanking it. He’s met with a yelp and before he knows it he’s struck in the face with a pillow. When it drops to the floor he sees you sitting up arms crossed. You’re not as amused as he is with his antics. Weird. Usually you’d have laughed or retaliated with a witty remark before you both would be laughing. Now you’re glaring at him.
“What’s got you in such a foul mood, darling?” He asks as clearly you’re not just going to reveal the answer of your own volition because you felt like it. You bite your tongue holding back a comment so instead he sits next to you on the edge of the bed, facing you arm leaning on your raised knees and for just a moment your expression softens. Okay, so you’re not angry at him for something. That’s good. At least he knows he won’t be at the receiving end of your wrath.
“Nothing.” You mutter. Why is hit when his stupid face walks into the room you just forget why you were upset in the first place. Well, you know why but the feelings still disappears, that little voice in the back of your head saying it’s a stupid reason anyway.
“Clearly it’s something, love. You know you can tell me anything, right?” Molly doesn’t feel the need to tease or even try to do something, anything to lift your spirits or make you laugh. This isn’t something that’s simply laughed off. This is something that needs words first.
“I know.” You nod but you don’t move to say anything and just let yourself fall backwards onto the bed wiping your face letting out a disgruntled sigh. You still keep your knees raised providing the support for Molly’s current position and look up at him. The jovial and smug attitude is gone and replaced by one of calm and a hint of worry. He pats your thigh waiting, giving you a moment to seek for the right words or response, anything really.
“It’s stupid. Don’t worry about it. Don’t worry about me. I’ll get over myself.” You offer him a weak smile but Molly doesn’t buy it. You don’t have him convinced for a second and you know you don’t when he gives you a look pressing you to be truthful. Stupid stupid stupid. Why did he have to have such a hold over you? Stupid feelings.
“It’s not stupid to me and I do worry.” It’s very few times Molly drops the act and allows his words to sound like the most genuine thing in the world. There’s no attempt of persuasion, or sweet-talking. There’s no blunt honesty but a careful one, approaching this as if you’re slipping through his fingers like sand. So that’s here you can’t stop yourself from clinging onto whatever you had. Better rip the bandaid off quickly and maybe he’ll let you down gently.
“I like you. I like you a lot. And whenever you’re flirting with strangers you come across like you do with me I just feel like I’m nothing more than a stranger to you.” Molly takes in your words and his expression remains gentle to the point where you can’t gleam anything but that off it. There’s no response like you expected. No surprise or discontent. You’d hoped he wouldn’t have laughed at you and at least he didn’t but you don’t know if you’re happier with the gentle smile he offers you as it literally doesn’t steer you in any direction. It just leaves you waiting.
Mollymauk’s not surprised by your words. He had suspected for a while but it’s not his place to assume. Sure when the attraction is only physical and never intended to be something of the longer term, it’s easy and fun to mess around with but you weren’t just physically attracted nor was this the short term kind of thing when it came to your feelings as these develop over time, not in a brief moment. So he dared not assume. It’s risky territory for him as he’s had few lasting long term relationships, even less so the ones build on genuine mutual feelings. He’s in no way uncomfortable with your feelings, or his own for that matter but he’s more careful because he’s pretty sure he’d have more success navigating a journey across thin ice, or a death drop below.
“Just say something. Do anything. Please. I can’t bear the silence.” You beg as Molly realises he might have zoned out a little longer than he intended to but when it takes him even longer to shake himself out of it you let your knees drop and making him lose his balance and fall upon your legs. That’s enough to snap him out of it.
“Very funny, love.” He deadpans as he sits back up again, releasing your legs allowing you to do the same and hug your knees leaning your cheek on top of it. Anticipation is clear within your eyes as he hasn’t given you any reaction to your confession just yet.
“Do anything you said?” The unreadable expression returns but his fingers slip beneath your face and gently lift it up. You await his next move not daring to hope where this is going and not moving beyond where Molly guided you to. He looks you in the eyes searching for any hesitation or move to back away but when you don’t offer him one beyond the anticipation he leans in pressing his lips to yours.
“You could never be a stranger. And I don’t know what I’ve done to lead you to believe so but take my word when I tell you I promise you I’ll spend every day of my life reminding you you’ll never be a stranger to me.” Molly’s words hit home and you know he’s someone who lives in the moment but you also know this is real and his words are genuine.
“Now if that means, you want me to stop flirting with barkeeps, and merchants to get some hefty discounts I will, for your sake.” He grins pecking your lips once more
“I’m pretty sure the others will kill me if you do. So best not?” You smile. Molly chuckles. Strangely, that’s all you needed to hear. Maybe your jealousy wasn’t stemmed from the tiefling’s blatant flirting with everyone and everything because you’ve always known Molly to be a flirt, even long before your feelings for him developed. It was just your own insecurities and doubts getting in your way and those were severely discredited by Molly’s words; ‘you’ll never be a stranger to me.’
“Best not then. That barkeep is a handsome one. Could be fun, darling?” Molly taps his chin as if considering and you slap his shoulder. You know he’s just teasing you so when he grabs the hand that hit at him you grab the pillow near your legs and smack him with it. Before you can swing a second time, the two of you giggling like idiots, Molly grabs the pillow throwing it behind you at the head of the bed and uses your held hand to pull you into a deep kiss.
The door swings open and in comes Beauregard, her backpack slung over her shoulder, staff in hand and just groans loudly at the kissing pair on one of the beds. She rolls her eyes disgruntled.
“Fjord! We’re gonna be roommates! Don’t fight me on this!” Beau shouts as she slams the door closed and goes over to a different room to drop her things. Fuck, she needs another drink. Despite everything she can’t fight the smile from slipping onto her lips. She’d known it was a long time coming but you finally having gotten over yourselves and having found some happiness brought her that smile to her face. Not like she’d ever admit it. And now she’s just gotten another thing to tease Molly about. She can already feel the comebacks and witty remarks form in her mind. Prepare yourself Tealeaf.
