Let's talk about HEAVEN🪽 and PERFECTION🌌

The shortest way possible: if you imagine Heaven in the way that scares you - then the thing that you imagine is definitely NOT what Heaven is. If what you imagine being a Perfection seems boring to you - then you can be damn sure that's exactly NOT what perfection is.

Follow my thoughts if you dare.

I also once used to think about Heaven and Infinity etc. in that boring overhelming way that scared the shit out of me. There's a point in life of a kid in religious family when you can't decide whether the more terrifying concept is Death or Living Forever? Why do both seem equally scary? What are we missing?

Well, I can't be sure about you but to me - the scary part is the Infinity. It's The Abyss again [I already made a post about it], only Death is a dark hole and Heaven is a hole full of blinding light. But you can't see anything and you can't imagine it, so no matter if it's black or white - it's still just a fucking gigantic empty hole!

I suppose that what most of us think when thinking about The Perfection: the giant empty space, sterile clean, white, monolite surface full of blinding light. Literally the last thing you'd want to ever experience. Not to even mention the eternity...

Let's stop for a monent here. Where does this fucked up idea of "boring perfection" even come from? I suppose it's probably thanks to all the "church authorities" for centuries castrating our imagination. Condemning every single thing in this world that could bring us joy and calling it a sin. Until the point you filled your Heaven with only thing that's left: deadly boredom.

If that's your image then - STOP. Just stop right here and throw that shit away altogether.

Now let's start again with something simple.

One of the old ideas of afterlife is "Great Feast". And yes, I know it doesn't feel too much appealing to us, fed-up people of first world. But that's a concept to start with nevertheless.

Now I will say that the first time I was having unrestrained internet connection and I discovered online galleries like Elfwood and Deviantart - I could spend literal hours everyday browsing art, analysing it, downloading (yes, I was addicted but that's not the point). Being awed and inspired and having all the feelings you get when experiencing the amount of beauty and diversity you never even dreamed of! And once I understood that to end of my days I will never be able to see all the beautiful artworks that people keep on creating - it made me incredibly sad. At that time I imagined that I could live forever just to experience all the beauty and wonder of people's creations that there is!

So that's alternative concept for "infinite feast" that resonates with me: infinite gallery!

But let's not stop at visual arts. You may have the same thoughts when listening to beautiful music in a loop. Or watching your favorite movies one by one again and again, always finding new things and never getting tired of. Or binge-watching your show, wishing to know how it all ends and wishing that it never ends in the same time...

See? There is the yearn for infinity when you're given the right fuel.

But where is the perfection? What does it even mean that something is perfect?

If there's a well known painting - some may say it's close to perfection. But is every single brushstroke perfect or only a painting as a whole? And what about other works of the same artist, they are different but are they any less perfect? And other beautiful paintings this artist was inspired with? And all the ones that were created thanks to his inspiration? Isn't it often said that "student overgrown his master"?

What about the most beautiful concert? Is perfection only in music of one musician? Or in just one single sound of only one instrument? Of course not. The perfect concert is all the instruments and all the sounds. But there are also different music of the same compositor. And different musicians interpreting that music all over the world. And in different times. And also new music inspired with the older one. And maybe even painting inspired with that music and then the poem inspired with that painting and...

The perfection is not any fucking boring monolite. It's more like the ocean or the sky full of stars. The perfection is more than a puzzle, more even than the web. It's more of a fractal maybe? Because each of it part is just as perfect as the whole shape.

If god (or whatever else you want to imagine there) is the source of all the love and all the good and the beauty - that means The Perfection contains of all the love and goodness and beauty that ever appeared in this world! And even more than you could ever imagine!

It's like the gallery with all the paintings of an artist! Of all the artists! Of all the world! Of all times! Heaven is all that! And even more!

It's a giant library full of books that were ever written or planned to be written! With all the intertextuality between them! And all the movies, and the way one story came out of another, movie inspired with a book was inspiration for another movie, which was inspiration for an essay, which started another art genre, resulting in hundrets and thousands of more artistic creations! Heaven is all of that! And even more!

Now imagine love in all of it faces: the love the child have to their mother, the love between siblings, the bond between close friends, the tenderness you feel when holding a kitten or a baby, the joy you feel when you laugh with your friend at stupid joke nobody else understand but you two, the gratefullness you feel when somebody helps you without asking, the joy you feel when you managed to cheer someone up... The perfect harmony and understanding between all the people, of all ages, of all times! And with the nature as well, and animals, on different continents, different planets probably! In Heaven it's just all there! And even more!

And when imagining the God embracing you - never imagine any big arms of a giant, oh no, put that shit in the trash! Instead - remember every embrace, hug and touch you experienced or witnessed or imagined or heard of. Was it once too difficult to imagine that God is three persons at once? Now imagine God is ALL PERSONS all at once! Not separate thing, not other than them, better than them - it is THEM! The infinite amount of actual embraces, big and small, of all the people, of all times, in all dimentions! One by one or all at the same time, it's up to you! Add to that every possible warm glance, hot kiss, kiss on the cheek, kiss in the air, the lightest most shy touch and the orgasms big and small... Heaven is all that! And even more!

That what I believe heavenly perfection really is. I don't care what any fucking money-seeking bishop ever said about it. And I'm sure our souls can sense the perfection - that's what they came from in the first place - like drops of the ocean. And so whenever we experience something good or beautiful that we'd say is "close to perfection" - we're trembling or we're moved to tears. We feel that we could be experiencing it forever, we wish that this moment could last forever... Some can even say: that's it! I experienced perfection, I'm so satisfied that I can die now! (which is never the wisest thing to say, but... well).

So, what I wanted to say is that when our soul appears in Heaven - it just feels like home. The most familiar and perfect (on your-own-terms) relaxing feeling: "finally at home!"

Context and some BlueBead Drawing Workflow Lore™: I convert a copy of my line art to pixel art by crunching it with levels and posterization so that I can quickly paint bucket in flat colors. However, when making the flats layer, I fill it in with a "missing texture" bright fuchsia first so I know if I missed any spots or if there's orphaned pixels.

While working on my last major drawing, Isabeau and Siffrin got to rock some fuchsia hair dye and Mirabelle got to enjoy a flashy shawl for a while because I thought they looked cool. And out of that trio, I deemed Isa most likely to inflict minor psychic damage on his friends for the bit. 😆

Gosh I love drawing disgruntled / disgusted expressions so much, you can get so scrunchy with them. I think drawing stupid facial expressions is my favorite part of being an artist, genuinely. 😂

WIP of [this drawing] from October 15th! Siffrin with partial pink hair dye unironically slaps in my opinion.

Time taken on the comic was 20 hours and 31 minutes. Been trying to speed things up, but I was having too much fun playing with new line art brushes and special effects. I'm getting better at ignoring tiny inconsequential things I'd want to endlessly tweak though!

Will I ever draw in the same art style twice in a row? Who knows. :) I've been slowly trending towards the style I draw my OCs in, but it's not fully there yet, lol.

These were supposed to be done and posted by the end of May for MerMay, but the last drawing (Jinbei) ended up taking longer than expected. I actually started these in May of 2023, inspired by the mermaid designs in the live action Little Mermaid. I didn't want to post anything until at least all ten of the Strawhats were done, as I tend to pick and drop projects depending on my motivation, and I kinda got paranoid about potentially keeping people waiting for the next drawing 😅 Most of these are also the second time drawing the Strawhats as merfolk, and I'd like to post those as well for comparison. As for what kinds of animals they are:

Luffy - Mako shark

Zoro- Tiger shark

Nami - Goldfish/barracuda hybrid

Usopp - Sailfish

Sanji - Betta fish

Chopper - Leafy sea dragon

Robin - Zebra shark

Franky - Humpback whale

Brook - Chimera/ghost shark

Jinbei - Whale shark (obvs)

Vivi - Nile perch

I think these choices fit the characters for the most part, for Luffy through Brook, most of them were the same as the first time I drew them as merfolk. The ones I changed were Nami, Franky, and Brook. For Nami, I thought goldfish suited her well for name and colors, but then I read somewhere that barracuda liked shiny things, and I decided to include that as well, making her a hybrid of the two. Franky was originally a lionfish as a nod to Sunny, but I wanted to diversify the designs more and show that not all merfolk are part fish, but can be part aquatic mammal as well.

Brook was originally a random fish I don't remember, maybe a pike? But I'd seen a video about chimera and heard that they're also called "ghost sharks" and like, I couldn't think of anything more fitting 😆 For Robin, I think an octopus would've been more fitting overall, but these designs originated from a specific AU I had in mind, which is why she's a shark instead. Jinbei was obviously going to stay a whale shark, but I still had to redesign him so he'd fit with the others, and overall, I feel he may be the weakest of the designs as he was the last one I did and I was rushing to have them all done 😓

With Vivi, I did like her original design, but I felt that for a character who comes from a country inspired by Egypt, it didn't really come across in her design. I made some slight changes that could hopefully convey it more, but also differentiate her face more from Nami's.

I think overall, the designs I'm most happy with are Zoro, Nami, and Chopper. With Chopper I had this vision of fins shaped like sakura flowers and tree branches and I adore how he came out 😍🥰❤ But overall I am happy with how everyone looks, but I think improvements can be made. I'll make a separate post that shows the difference between my original designs and the new ones and include it in an edit.

My body stumbles into the dorm rooms. A giggle leaves my mouth. My vision was blurry, no doubt there. The room was spinning but in a good way.

The scent of a good home cooked meal filled my nostrils as I sat on the floor and removed my tied shoes.

Another giggle escapes my mouth as I get up and fall down on my bum.

“Y/n? Is that you?” A voice calls that makes me jump a little. I look up to see leeknow walking into the little entrance of the dorms.

“Heyyy Oppa,” my words slur as I get up again slightly sliding but able to balance.

He looks at me examining my body. He was wearing sweatpants and a white hoodie. His glasses were on too meaning he was cooking. He stood there arms crossed and eyebrows furrowed.

“Have you been drinking again?” His voice is calm yet harsh.

“Maybe,” I simply say before giggling again and walking past him making my way to the living room.

His body turns with mine as he follows behind continuing the conversation.

“Are you fucking serious? We talked about this.” His tone was getting louder and I didn’t like it at all. I stopped and looked at him. His face a few inches away from mine.

“But Oppa I thought you said you would support me in everything I do,” I tilt my head and bite my lip. Slowly a smirk crips up. “Don’t you like seeing me happy?” I hiccup.

He takes a step back and I frown, “You’ve been coming home drunk for the past two weeks! What is wrong with you? We’ve been worried sick!” He growls quite literally. His face turning red and his arms crossed.

“Okay but what’s the big deal I had a little to drink, whatever,” I roll my eyes and turn my body to continue walking to the living room.

His hand grabs mine. I squirm a little trying to make him let go. “Let go Leeknow your hurting me,”

“Look at yourself Y/n! Just look! You’re a fucking mess!” His voice is loud now. Filled with anger and running through out the house. His towering over me. Making me feel small.

“Leeknow I said let go of me now!” I yelp but he doesn’t. His breathing is heavy and his looking at me with dark eyes. Filled with hurt and anger.

“Your killing yourself-“

I cut him off. Not even bothering to listen to the long speech he was about to give because what was the point? We had been going through this for the past week. The same old boring ass speech.

“I don’t fucking care! You didn’t care about me before now why all of a sudden you care about me now huh? Huh?! You’re a monster, you and all the boys are!” I’m now yelling at the top of my voice. His hand lets go shocked at my reaction. He steps back trying to process what I was trying to say. His eyes searching my face.

“What do you mean I didn’t care? Who was fucking there for you when you got eliminated? Who was h there for you when you broke your ankle? Who the fuck was there for you the nights you couldn’t learn a choreography? Huh? Who the fuck was there for you when your mum disowned you? Stop being a fucking little bitch about everything and running away from your problems. Face them! Face them instead of drinking them away!”

“Don’t you ever talk about my mother again leeknow,” my voice is low, anger laced all over it. It almost comes out as venom.

His stood in-front of me, his hands are in a fist. Why was his hand in a fist? Was he going to hit me? What was he trying to do?

“If you going to fucking hit me, hit me! Hit me leeknow-“

I step closer to his body. My finger poking at his chest and he clenched his jaw. The world is still spinning and the room is dim.

“Hey! What the fuck is going on?!” Hyunjin drops his phone on the ground and runs towards us. His hand automatically wrapping around my waist and pulling me away from leeknow who is huffing in anger. Trying to calm down.

“What the fuck Y/n?! Have you been drinking again?” Hyunjin asks me when he puts me down. His runs his hands through his hair as he starts to examine me. His eyes going back and forth between me and leeknow. “Please don’t tell me you haven’t,”

I go quiet but Leeknow Ofcourse had to step in.

“Yes she has been-“

“It doesn’t have to do with any of you!” I yell at him. I grab my jacket that laid on the floor and slightly stumble. Hyunjin is still processing what’s going on but leeknow still has a lot to say, I see it, I sense it.

“Yes the fuck it does because you promised you would stop! Look at the way you’re talking to leeknow! You can’t even see in a straight line for crying out loud!” Hyunjin’s outbursts caused me to snap back into reality.

“Why are you on my dick Hyunjin? Why are you alwyals in my business?! God! Ever since you came back from haitus you’ve been such a clingy bitch!” The words leave my mouth and my brain stops. I instantly regret what I had just said. I knew Hyunjin didn’t like his hiatus and it was the worst time in his life.

“Hyunjin’s I didn’t mean-“

“Are you serious? Are you serious right now y/n?” Leeknow cuts into the argument. His now walking towards both of us. His hands waving in the air as he speaks. “Why would you say such a thing to him? You know how sensitive that is!”

Hyunjin’s eyes start to shine, his lips turning into a frown then a scowl, “and ever since you were sexually assaulted you’ve been moping around like a bitch!” Hyunjin took a step away from me his hands were shaking. His voice is louder than ever. His body upward and straight.

The word hit me hard. My body starts to shake aswell. This was the biggest fight we had ever gotten into and we had just taken it on another level.

six hundred strike may not be my favorite song of the saga, but it is the one i think about the most 😆 i have a lot of ideas of how that fight could've gone down, and since i'm not an animator, i figured i could at least write it down. i apologize in advance for the long post haha

it bears mentioning that i don't find issue with odysseus defeating poseidon as a plot point, i think it works thematically and since i try to take epic as a work separate from the mythology it doesn't bother me. it's alright if it does not work for you! that just mean this won't be the post to fix this song for you (not that that's my goal, i just wanted to share my interpretation)

second to this, i think it's important to keep in mind that in epic, functionally, the gods work like videogame bosses. this is established well in god games, in my opinion, and i take it as a feature of the universe.

the thing that made the vision of six hundred strike click for me was a video where jay explains how the gods' powers work in epic - particularly the sections where he discusses hermes and poseidon. well, i'm afraid to say jay hid the biggest spoiler for six hundred strike in this unassuming video 😆

about hermes - jay mentions that he relies on speed and flight, and that although his hits are not as powerful, he can get a lot of them in quick succession, and cause a lot of damage. does that remind anyone of something? yes, that is pretty much how odysseus attacks poseidon! using the power of the windbag to be faster and fly, and then landing the 600 strike move (on its own, i already think this is a cool detail. especially since hermes helps him so much)

and now, about poseidon - he's a long range fighter, it means most of his attacks involve things like overwhelming tsunamis, the shatter the ocean move where he gets a big water monster armor, etc. it also means that his weakness is close range attacks. he's still strong up close, but not nearly as strong. normally you wouldn't even be able to get close to him, for that to be a problem, but in particular, jay mentions someone like hermes could be able to get the jump on him. do you see where i'm going with this?

so yes, i think this is the vision of how that fight went down. i still think the visual execution was a bit lacking, considering i only got it after watching a video on jay's youtube channel '^^ but i also think it is possible to convey this visually! here's how I'd go about it, without contradicting canon (although some headcanons with the ghosts are so cool):

let's start with the windbag. listen, i love whimsy, but i also thought the jetpack thing was a little too silly 😆 i'm fine with it as a means to propel himself out of the water, i thought that was awesome, actually. but out of the water, why not keep it a little more unpredictable? odysseus struggles to use to zip around, but manages to control it enough to avoid poseidon's long range attacks. this is an opportunity to showcase that this is poseidon's attack style. then, unleash the power of the storm to break poseidon's water cthulhu. i think using expressions here would be the best way to show poseidon is now out of his comfort zone. he holds against odysseus for a while, but then with the speed of the windbag, odysseus unleashes an overwhelming six hundred strike attack. poseidon can't keep up with it, and odysseus manages to throw him to the shore, getting him out of his domain. I'd make poseidon more active in this bit, just so he isn't lying there and taking it.

then the trident scene follows as it - because i like it that way (using poseidon's own trident is a good explanation of how he did all that. also it is wicked cool, sorry)

this post has ended far longer than i expected, oops. this is just my interpretation of how things could've gone down, at least in a way that doesn't change canon too much. i will say, i love the idea of the ghosts helping (which would explain the chorus!) and i want to see someone tackle that in an animatic so bad 😆

TL;DR: with some visual changes, like keeping the windbag more unpredictable, showing explicitly that odysseus was able to get poseidon out of his comfort zone, and keeping the fight more dynamic, i think the first half of six hundred strike would've worked a lot better, but that's just my opinion

The Prologue has given us a lovely look at Karo and Yvonne's relationship, and teased us a ton about all of the fantastic creatures and stories to come.

S1 Episode 1 - Pumpkin Patch: We've only met a few monsters so far but can I say, everyone was fantastic! I knew the show had a stacked cast, and man does it show! I NEED to know more about Karo's story (and everyone's, really). My reaction to Grey mentioning where they went to school was exactly the same as Yvonne's!

Preparing for the special occasion, I started thinking up of what I could draw for him and Ron this year...🤔And then I thought, ‘I know! I could draw an AU where I am a well-loved pop idol, just like BroZone and I am performing specially for Cooper on his birthday, whilst he totally yet adorably fanboys over me!’ 💡😀 I did just that and...WOW!!😲It turned out even more amazing and eye-catching as I hoped and planned~!💖🤩💖I am so pleased of how I got me and Cooper's poses spot on from what I had in mind~💗😍And yep! Before anyone asks...that IS a BroZone-inspired jacket I've got on!😆(Peach colour~✨🍑) I just had to add that for my Pop Idol AU look, along with singing the Spice Girls' 'Spice Up Your Life'~ (a late 90's hit from my childhood)🎶🎤😚 I feel my style here was a cute combination of the Trolls movies and TrollsTopia, whilst I aimed to combine the background of my performance on stage with Cooper's dreamy vision as he's truly awe(love)struck over me, bless him~💗🥰Hehe~!🤭And of course, I gave our darling birthday prince a 'Cupcake King' theme to his party hat, because he is one - my Cupcake King~🩷♛🧁😉 Hope you all like too, dears!💕✨😊👍🏻I really enjoyed making this piece, especially for Ron and my beloved sweet jellybean, Cooper~💗🫶🏻U//w//U💘
