wc: 800 (i think)
put some drunk conrad in to help with the storyline!! not majority edited just wanted to get this out
Tumblr media
It was supposed to be a boy's night. To drink and talk about sports or just hang out in general. But here conrad was, looking at your pictures on his phone showing the guys around him. Even if they were at a party where there were over 100 people, you were still the first thing on his mind.
“she’s just so pretty guys,” he told steven and jeremiah who were sipping on beers
“oh we know, for how much you talk about her.” jere muttered over his drink
“man, as much as i love how you’re in love with my sister, but please spare all details.” steven rolled his eyes
“she’s just so sweet, she’s helped me with so much. like that one time she snuck me into your house because i missed her and my roommate was having sex,” he admitted
“oh god! you snuck into our house. if laurel ever hears this you’re dead meat.” steven leaned forward
“relax steve, i’ll have you know your mom likes me too much.” conrad took a sip of his beer when he should have stopped drinking for a while now “i miss her.”
“he’s so whipped.” jere laughed watching his brother be lovesick for you
“do you think she will answer if i call her?” his eyes lit up
“she’s probably sleeping.” steven looked over his shoulder to the crowd of people spotting taylor dancing with some of the volleyball girls
“just make your move already.” jeremiah pointed out
“you know belly would absolutely murder me if i touched her best friend.” steven sighed and looked away
“hey! look at me man.” conrad put a hand on his shoulder “you haven’t murdered me yet.” he smiled
“that’s because i’m building up to it.” conrad shook his head
“i’m gonna call her, i miss her.”
“dude-“ it was too late he already clicked your contact.
Meanwhile, you were on your bed watching netflix and having a self-care night. With conrad with the guys, you felt like he needed to get out of the apartment they all shared because all they did was play video games and sleep. Your phone rang on the comforter causing you to jump not expecting any calls. You turned the phone seeing conrad’s name on the screen.
“hey.” you paused your show leaning back on the pillows
“hi baby.” he slurred. this wasn’t the first time occurrence he’s called you drunk, you soon found out he was clingy and wanted your attention when drunk
“hey you, how’s the boy's night?” he sighed on the other side of the phone
“it’s good, it’s good. i wanted to call and say i miss you, like a lot.”
“you just saw me yesterday dummy.” you laughed into the phone
“i just really love you.” your heart fluttered as he said the words, you don’t usually say it because it meant a lot to the both of you with what happened to your parents
“can you do me a favor baby?” he hummed on the other side “can i talk to my brother really quick?”
“yeah! here, steven she wants to talk to you.” you heard him hand the phone over
“hey sis.”
“hey can i come get him? i think he’s had enough and i know he’s gonna want me to come get him soon enough.”
“oh yeah please,”
“thank you for taking him out tonight, i know he’s stressed with everything with adam and everything.”
“no yeah i understand, see you soon.” the phone was pulled away from him and back in the hands of your boyfriend
“hey lover.” he chuckled “i’m gonna a come get you okay?”
“yeah, thats sounds good.” you knew after a while he would start overthinking and then the stress would come back
“just stay with the guys and no more drinking, okay?”
“okay, see you soon baby.” you both hung up and you got out of bed
The drive over to the house was over 20 minutes. But you didn’t mind you wanted to see conrad. There has been a lot of stuff going on recently with his dad. you knew their relationship wasn’t the greatest and it really got to him sometimes.
You parked the car in search of your boyfriend. Steven texted you saying they were in the backyard in some chairs, and you saw the back of your boyfriend's head as he talked to the boys in front of him. You wrapped your arms over his shoulder and leaned your head down on his shoulder.
“i have a girlfriend!” his head snapped and he relaxed seeing it was you “oh. sorry.”
“that’s okay, you ready to go?” he nodded “you boys have a ride back?” you looked towards jere and steven
“yeah, taylor said she would take us.” you smiled at steven “when are you gonna ask her out?” conrad moved his arms to rub against yours that were draped over him
“chill, i just don’t wanna upset belly.”
“for fucks sake i’m dating your best friend and you didn’t beat me up.”
“told you.” conrad muttered
“this is different.” he sighed rubbing his face
“it’s not really.” conrad moved to lay his head on your arm giving you the signal it was time to go “just do something at least, con and i are gonna head out.” you pulled your hands away and the man stood from his seat “ready.” he nodded taking your hand in his “be safe tonight, call me if you need anything.”
As you drove home, conrad kept a hand on your thigh but he didn’t say anything and you knew the quietness and depression were slowly coming back from the side effects of his drinking. The whole ride was quiet up until you made it into your room closing the door facing him.
“come here con.” he walked towards you slowly and dipped his head into to crook of your neck and wrapped his arms around you “let’s sleep okay?” he nodded but didn’t let go “con?”
“hm?”
“let’s lay down handsome.” he stepped away from you and you helped him take off his shirt as he slipped out of his jeans left in his boxers and slid into bed “ill be right back, going to get you water.”
“okay.” he softly spoke into the pillow he was laying on
Walking downstairs your mom was also grabbing a midnight snack. She knew he would come over and she also knew he was going through a lot in your 2 years together.
“how is he?” she leaned against the counter as you opened the fridge to grab a water bottle
“it’s a lot, he won’t really talk to me about some of it and i understand.”
“you’re a great girlfriend for him. susannah always loved the thought of you two together.” she grabbed your hand and squeezed it “speaking of conrad.” she nodded behind you, turning around you saw your boyfriend standing at the end of the stairs
“hey, what’s wrong?” you walked towards him
“you left me for a long time.” he rubbed his eyes and you smiled
“come on you big baby, good night mom.”
“night laurel.” conrad muttered
“night kids.” you could hear the humor in her voice
Back up in your room you were both now in bed with the light of the tv shining on the both of you. Conrad’s eyes drifted but he just stared at you.
“can i cuddle you?” he asked softly
“you don’t need to ask.” he moved closer to you hugging you to him, his head on your shoulder and you moved your hand to run though his hair “con?”
“yeah?” you moved to look at him and leaned down to kiss him for the first time that night
“i love you.” he smiled genuinely the first time since you saw him
“i love you.” he closed his eyes and kissed your neck
Soon enough his soft snoring filled the room as you continued to watch your show until you followed him into the dream state.

WIRED AUTOCOMPLETE. | TOM BLYTH
PAIRING. tom blyth x fem!actress!reader
SUMMARY. in which you and tom make a special appearance on wired’s autocomplete interview
installment of this au | recommend reading for more context
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hi — we’re Y/N Avocot and Tom Blyth — and this is the Wired Autocomplete Interview!”
You’re both handed a white board, bigger than your face, and there’s a list of questions with some of the words covered.
“Do you want to go first?” Tom asks, giving you a small smile.
“Yes! I’m pretty excited actually,” you begin to peel off the first question. “Okay, first question: what was Y/N Avocot’s first role?”
You think for a moment, “well in terms of roles in general, my first acting role was very small and I believe it was for this ice cream commercial as a kid. I’m not sure if it’s still up but my mom had signed me up for it and they thought I was a really cute kid so they casted me.”
Tom laughs, “really?” He then retrieves his board from the crew. “Okay my turn. Why does Coriolanus Snow turn evil?”
That question makes you slightly giggle, because it’s so broad that it’s nearly impossible for Tom to narrow down exactly what it is that made Coriolanus suddenly switch. “I believe you should be asking Suzanne Collins, shout-out to her for making the entire trilogy and prequel. But honestly? I think he was always power hungry, and even though Tigris tried her very best to bring out the humanity in him, it was just never enough. Especially after Sejanus’s death, I think Coriolanus realized there was no going back.”
“Oh wow,” you say, very impressed with how he decided to answer it. “That was a terrific answer Tom.”
“Thank you m’lady.” You giggle at his antics, rolling your eyes jokingly.
“What role does Y/N Avocot play in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes?” You clear your throat, imitating one of your character’s iconic resting bitch face.
“I play Balleona Laurent, duh.” You joke. “Anyway, yes, I play Balleona, also known as Leona. She’s originally from the Capitol just like Coriolanus. They met at the academy and she automatically knew she had to have him. She comes from the Laurent family, which is a very very wealthy, well off, intimidating family that Coriolanus knows he just has to get into, which is why they start dating. I don’t wanna spoil too much of Leona and Corio in the movie, soooo you guys should definitely check it out!”
“Alright,” Tom adjusts himself in his seat, ripping off the paper for the next question. “Does Tom Blyth have a girlfriend?”
He pretends to think, which makes you bite your lip, suppressing a laugh. “Hmm, very complex question.”
“Oh give the people what they want!” You tease, “yes he does. He’s inlove with Jennifer Lawrence.”
“I am not inlove with Jennifer Lawrence!” He exclaims quickly, “although I greatly admire her work. My girlfriend is Y/N Avocot over here, sadly.”
“Sadly?!” You fake offense, “cut the cameras. I’m gonna beat Tom up.”
You peel away at your next question, the interview already being loads of fun for the both of you. “Is Y/N Avocot a good singer?”
Your head falls forward, and Tom’s automatic instinct is to catch you, not realizing you’re only joking. “Oh God, I hope so!” You say, laughing as you pick your head up. “I’m no Mariah Carey but I like to think I’m a pretty okay singer.”
“More than okay,” Tom chimes in, which makes you laugh.
“Aw, thanks Tom.”
Tom reaches to peel another question off. “Is Tom Blyth American?” This question makes you almost spit out the water you were currently taking a sip out of. “Well, a lot of people get shocked when I say I’m from the UK. I mean, is my American accent that good?”
“Guess so,” you shrug. “Okay next. Is Y/N Avocot in The Summer I Turned Pretty?”
You clasp your hands together excitedly, giving the camera a wide smile. “Yes! I play Maekella Fisher, also known as Ella Fisher, Steven Conklin’s love interest and sister to Conrad and Jeremiah. The first season airs out soon so please stay tune for that! I’m so excited to be apart of this amazing show with such amazing people.”
“I always come to watch her on set,” Tom says, “they’re all such funny and charismatic people. I swear I’ve became friends with everyone on Y/N’s cast.”
“Okay, my last question,” Tom peels off the paper, grinning. “Will Tom Blyth star in another movie soon?”
He smirks, eyes playfully looking into the camera. “Who knows? But I do know that something exciting will be coming out soon so prepare yourselves!”
“Way to tease the crowd Blyth,” you say, rolling your eyes. “Anyway! My last question, this was quick. What is Y/N Avocot’s skincare routine? Oh, I’ve been waiting for this one.”
You sit on the edge of your seat, and Tom finds it endearing that you’re so excited about something as small as this.
“First, I rinse my face with cold water and I dip my face in a bowl of ice and water for 3 minutes. Afterwards, I put on my dewy toner from Innisfree, it’s so smooth and nice. Sometimes I’m too lazy for this step but I also put on sunscreen, it’s important so I always remind myself to not forget— but I love to use Supergoop Unseen’s Sunscreen. I use drunk elephant’s bronze drops if I wanna go for a sunkissed look that day, but I usually don’t. And then I just shake my Tower facial spray and spray it all over my face. Usually, I touch up my eyebrows and do my eyeliner but that’s really about it!”
“It’s true,” Tom adds. “She asked me if I could go buy her the tower spray yesterday because she was almost out.”
“No need to expose me like that,” you say, clinging your arms onto his. “Well thank you guys for watching!”
“Thank you!” Tom and you wave at the camera, smiling brightly.

So my conrad request is basically the scene in season 1 where they (jeremiah and conrad) go to pick up the girls after they go skinny dipping but reader is there too and drives home with conrad?and smut but it could also just be fluff if you want
i’ve got you, always | c.fisher x reader
Tumblr media
a/n: yay!! another conrad fic :) <3 thank you so much for the request, i loved writing it and i hope you enjoy. i had it super fluffy at first but it kind of took its own turn so i hope it’s ok. also, thank you to everyone for all the support for my writing recently — you guys make my day and i can never thank you enough. i love you all truly!
warnings: slight angst, mentions of anxiety, panic attacks, and swearing.
“are you fucking kidding me?!” taylor screams, putting her forearms onto the dock and searching, “i knew those girls were fucking bitches!”
belly and i swim towards her, “what happened?” belly asks,
“your fucking snake friends took our clothes and ran off, that’s what!” taylor hisses, “all that’s left are our phones.”
“they did what?” belly panics, lifting her high high enough to see the dock, “oh my god.”
i feel my heart drop to the bottom of my stomach and the colour in my face drain away. i didn’t even want to go skinny dipping in hopper’s cove but i did it anyways since taylor and belly along with belly’s friends were going.
“what do we do?” belly asks us, frantically looking around for a possible solution, “there’s a boat cover we could use!”
“are you fucking joking?” taylor scoffs, shaking her head, “absolutely not.”
“i’m calling conrad,” i tell them, grabbing my phone and clicking his name on speed dial.
i hear the girls bicker by me as my hands shake, bringing my phone to my ear, “c- conrad? i need you.”
“where are you?” he asks, concern laced into his voice. i briefly explain the situation as my lip quivers, “please hurry”
“i’ll be there as soon as i can, lovie. hang tight.” he promises before hanging up.
i turn to the girls and tell them that conrad is on his way while belly says that jeremiah is also coming. we patiently wait for what feels like hours in the water. i could feel my hands shaking as i keep myself propped up on the small dock since my legs were exhausted. my eyes were welling up with tears from anxiety — only hoping conrad will get here soon.
after what felt like hours, we heard a car’s engine running and then stop. he’s here.
“bells, n/n, oh my god,” jeremiah pants out, “i came as soon as you hung up.” he tells belly, “conrad is here too.”
on cue, conrad comes up behind jeremiah while holding a plastic bag of clothes, “nicole gave these to me. i hope everything’s in this.”
“thanks guys,” belly says sheepishly, “do you mind turning around?”
their eyes go widen in embarrassment but quickly turn around while taylor, belly, and i climb up onto the dock. we sift through the plastic bag, handing each other our clothes.
i quickly pull on my dry clothes onto my wet, water dripping body. i pull my drenched hair into a messy bun, with water droplets crawling down the back of my neck. the night breeze was freezing on my body. i shiver and close my hands into tight fists in attempt to stop the shaking.
taylor and belly are soon fully dressed again, in somewhat the same state as i was but much more collected than my embarrassed self.
“okay, you can turn around,” taylor tells the two brothers. they face us and motion us to follow them towards the cars.
“i can’t believe that they did that” jeremiah says, his arms crossed over his chest.
taylor scoffs, “i do, i literally called it that they were all bitches.”
conrad lets belly and taylor pass him to follow jeremiah, he gives me a small sympathetic smile and puts a comforting arm around me, “come on.”
we reach the two cars, belly and taylor whispering to each other, “we’ll ride with you, jere.” belly tells him before herself and taylor climb into the jeep. taylor gives me a quick wink before closing her door.
“see you two at home?” jeremiah asks conrad, who nods. the jeep soon pulls away onto the pitch black road and heads towards the fisher summer home.
“you okay?” conrad asks, facing me, “i’m sorry that happened, you didn’t deserve that.”
his hand is on my shoulder, his thumb slowly rubbing circles against the material of my shirt. i couldn’t even focus, and not in the typical sense when i’m around him. it’s usually butterflies, racing heart rate, heat on my cheeks, but this felt nearly the exact opposite.
it felt like my heart was being squeezed, my stomach was churning, and my stupid hands wouldn’t stop shaking. my vision was slightly blurry from the tears that were threatening to fall.
“you’re freezing,” he breathes out, “hold on”
he turns away and rummages around in the backseats of his car. conrad turns back to me and hands me a grey hoodie, his hoodie, “take this.”
i slowly take it from his hands, trying with every ounce of my strength to stop the shakiness of my hands. i didn’t want him to see the anxious state that i was in. it was such a stupid reason to be anxious anyways, taylor and belly were completely fine after getting their clothes. pissed off maybe, but not acting the way i was.
i have his hoodie in my hands but i don’t put it on.
“lets get you home, love.” he says but i can barely hear him with the ringing in my ears.
conrad starts walking towards his side of the car, assuming that i was also getting into the vehicle — but i feel frozen. stuck in one place.
why was it getting harder to breathe?
conrad’s hand is on the small of my back and my heart rate spikes up to an unbelievable high level, but not in that way. something is wrong, and my chest is hurting.
my hand goes to my sternum of my chest, slowing rubbing it as my breathing picks up. my body was trembling and my chest was rising and falling at a concerning pace.
“babe?” he stands up from his seat. my legs felt weak yet everything else felt heavy, why is it heavy? i feel myself collapse towards the gravel, but i don’t fall.
conrad was able to get to my side quick enough to prevent me from falling. his strong arms wrapped around me, “hey… hey, what’s wrong?”
i shake my head repeatedly, “i- i-” i stutter out and it’s hard to speak, my throat feels dry and it hurts.
he cradles me on the side of the road, “sh, it’s okay. nice and slow, what’s going on?”
“i c- can’t breathe” i tell him, his finger interlace with my shaking ones. he brings my hand to his lips, placing a gentle kiss on them,
“you’re okay, love,” he says softly, “you’re having a panic attack.”
my eyes widen, i’ve never had one of those before. i shut my eyes in fear. my breathing doesn’t slow down for a moment, if anything, it feels like it’s going even faster now.
“look at me,” he whispers, tucking a fallen strand of hair behind my ear, “baby, look at me please.”
i open my eyes to look into his blue ones, “breathe with me, okay? nice and slow.”
i watch as conrad takes a deep breath, i try to but i don’t think it’s even possible to breathe.
“in,” he inhales, i attempt at copying his actions by taking a breath of air in, “and out.”
exhale.
my breath trembles out of my lips, he slowly nods, “just like that, in…. and out.”
we take a few more deep breaths together, until mine regulates again. conrad smiles at me, “there you go, now do you wanna tell me what’s going on?”
i swallow, “i didn’t even want to go skinny dipping with the girls, i don’t fit in with them. they’re all so pretty and fun and everyone loves them. i’m nothing like them.”
a tear slips from the corner of my eye, conrad is quick to wipe it away, “so, i thought if i did it then maybe i’ll be like them. i thought they liked me too, fuck’s sake i’m so gullible. they all left! with me naked in some stupid cove.” i cry out, burying my face into my hands.
“oh, baby,” conrad coos, “sh…” he places a kiss on my hair.
he pulls me closer, wrapping his arms around my torso and placing his chin on my head, “you don’t deserve that, and you’re perfect the way you are. i don’t want to hear any of that ‘no one likes me’ shit, ok? because i do.”
“wh- what?” i ask, looking at him with watery eyes.
“i think you’re amazing just as you are,” he repeats, “you’re my y/n, i don’t want you to be one of those debutante sheep. i love you as y/n.”
my heart fills with so much love, i reach up to pull him into a kiss. he kisses me back immediately, his hands trailing up from my waist to cup my face.
“lets go home, yeah?” he asks after pulling away, “lets get you showered and into some comfy, warm, and dry clothes. we can cuddle and watch a movie. sounds good?”
“sounds perfect.” i blush, i finally pull on his grey hoodie. it falls to my mid thigh and it smells like him; cologne, cigarettes, and ocean water.
conrad helps me to my feet and opens the car door for me, “oh, and conrad?”
he looks down at me and hums, “thank you for coming to get me.” i say to him.
“i’ve got you baby, always.” conrad responds with a kiss before closing the car door.

The part where Jeremiah’s like if I start kissing you I’m scared I won’t be able to stop or something like that! Chills
My Jeremiah stuff keeps flopping, why are you doing this to me...
my taglists are here + you can send requests here at any time
Tumblr media
Under the moonlit sky of the golf course, everyone was getting ready for bed. Steven and Taylor had gotten tablecloths and cushions from the debutante ballroom. It wasn’t as comfortable as a real bed, but it was better than sleeping on the grass. At least it was summer. And thank god it wasn’t pouring rain.
Not feeling tired yet, you decided to walk around. These past nights, your dreams have been haunted by bright blue eyes and a sweet smile, as if pressing you to make a move on Jeremiah Fisher. You shared a kiss on the boardwalk last summer and didn’t stop thinking about it all year. It was embarrassingly pathetic.
Talking about Jeremiah, you spotted him by the golf cart, folding tablecloths to make blankets. A smile curled on your lips and you walked toward him.
‘’Hey, Jere.’’
‘’Hey,’’ he returned, short and dry.
A frown drew between your eyebrows. ‘’Do you want to go inside and finish the movie?’’
‘’Not really. It’s kinda late.’’ He continued folding the tablecloths, completely ignoring you.
‘’Oh. Okay.’’ You nodded, understanding. It was late. ‘’If you ever need a place to sleep tomorrow night, you can come to my house. I’m sure my parents—’’
‘’That’s very kind of you, but no thanks.’’
You lowered your eyes at the grass, watching it slip between your toes in your sandals. You were trying to be kind, but he obviously didn't want your help.
He was still upset about the house and his aunt and dad teaming up to sell it, but there was something else. Something related to you.
Last night, on the boardwalk, he was sweet and touchy and even gave you some of his candy he and the boys won. Now, he was a different person. Cold. Distant. It’s like he didn’t want to talk to you, to be with you.
You could only think of one thing related to you that Jeremiah could be acting strange over.
‘’Is it because of the kiss we shared last summer?’’
You hadn't talked about it since it happened and kisses often make things awkward in friendships.
Jeremiah shook his head. ‘’It’s not that,’’ he said. ‘’I…I liked the kiss.’’
‘’Then why do you keep pushing me away? Since you arrived in Cousins, you’ve been so confusing. You almost hold my hand in the theater and now you push me away like I have plague. I can’t decipher those mixed signals, Jeremiah. I'm not a detective, I'm a teenage girl.’’
With a deep breath, Jeremiah looked directly into your eyes. ‘’Because when I’m alone with you, all I think about is kissing you and if I kiss you, I don’t know that I can ever stop.’’
His words hung in the air, mixing with the crickets' chirp, a confession of feelings you were not expecting to hear tonight — or ever. Your heart started beating faster in your chest, realizing that you had been wrong about Jeremiah. He wasn’t giving you mixed signals because he was playing with you, he was giving you mixed signals because he was scared of his feelings for you.
You opened your mouth to speak, but Jeremiah spoke first.
‘’Life has been really hard these past months, but I never wanted to push you away. I wanted to call you after our kiss, I wanted to ask you on a date and hold your hand and kiss you again. But I found out about my mom and I couldn’t think about anything else,’’ he admitted, his voice soft and earnest.
You looked into his eyes, searching for any sign of insincerity, but you didn’t see any.
‘’When I saw you at Rosie’s, I was so happy.’’ A genuine soft smile tugged at his lips, thinking back to two days ago. ‘’Seeing you face to face is much better than through your instagram.’’
You raised an eyebrow at him. ‘’You stalked my instagram?’’
Jeremiah covered his face and groaned, embarrassed. ‘’Is that all you picked up?’’
You uncovered his face and intertwined your fingers with his. ‘’No, but it’s an interesting anecdote. I didn’t know you were the type of guy who stalked girls on social media.’’
‘’I’m not!’’ he defended, regretting saying that now.
‘’I know.’’ You chuckled. ‘’I’m just teasing you.’’
A sense of warmth and comfort enveloped the two of you, the tension that had been lingering between you dissipating. Although all of your friends were sleeping a few meters nearby, it felt like there was no one else in the world but the two of you. Especially when you looked up into his eyes. It’s so easy to get lost in their beauty and forget everything else.
Jeremiah let out a small laugh, relieved that you were taking his confession and embarrassment in good spirits. He looked down at your lips, thinking about the last time he tasted the vanilla cupcake lip gloss on them. Were you still wearing the same? It probably wore off by now, but Jeremiah was dying to know if you tasted the same.
Taking a small breath of courage, he leaned in closer, closing the distance between you and gently pressed his lips against yours. The kiss was soft and tender, Jeremiah’s hand coming to cup your face gently while yours reached his shoulder to pull him down to your height.
When you broke apart, you smiled against his lips, dying to kiss him again. ‘’Do you want to set your blanket next to mine?’’ you suggested, glints of hope in your eyes.
Jeremiah nodded. ‘’If that’s okay with you.’’

Jeremiah Fisher x fem! Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: jeremiah tries to comfort you after a confrontation with your ex, but things escalate to more in a heartbeat
warnings: 18+, smut w/ no plot, fingering, praising, oral (fem! receiving)
word count: 1.3k
a/n: HII!! to get back on my writing grind this summer, i found one of my old drafts and proof read it and fixed it up. HOPE U ENJOY! GO PANTHERS!
Tumblr media
The door shut as Jeremiah placed his hands on your face. “What happened to make Conrad beat the shit out of that guy and make you cry?” He pouted his lip.
You struggled to get a sentence out. The tears welling up in your throat made your bottom lip trembled. “The guy…who C-Conrad beat up was…my ex.” You confessed, interrupting your sentence with heavy breathing.
Jeremiah patiently waited as you attempted to calm yourself down before continuing, “He wouldn’t leave me alone and Conrad stepped in.”
With that admission, Jeremiah pulled you into a hug. You grasped onto him tightly and let yourself melt into him. His chin rested on the top of your head. “He said I dressed like a slut, Jeremiah,” you said through tears.
He rubbed your back in a circular motion. “He just can’t handle the fact he can’t you.” He let go of the embraced and held onto your hands. “You looked beautiful in your dress tonight.” His eyes traveled down your body teasingly. “Really beautiful.” His eyes innocently looked into yours, watching as a rosy flush grew in your face. “Oh, you liked that?”
“Shut up,” you muttered as you focused your eyes elsewhere in the room. His index and middle finger crept under your chin, lifting your head up to look him in the eye.
He shot a glance down at my lips before whispering, “Y/N, I want to kiss you so bad. Can I?”
Sheepishly, you nodded your head. A faint smile formed on his face before bringing his lips to yours. It was quick and comforting, but still passionate. It was nice, but you needed more.
You leaned forward and pressed more against his lips. Jeremiah grabbed onto your hips and kissed you deeper, his hands traveling downward. The tips of his fingers brushed against your ass before he gripped onto both cheeks and pulling you closer to him.
You pulled away and gasped. “Jeremiah,” you whispered.
“Did I make you uncomfortable?” He frantically asked. “Shit, I knew I shouldn’t have done that. I’m so sorry, Y/N!”
You shook your head and brought your hands up to his face. “I want you. I want this.” You watched as a smile broke onto his face. “Now, let’s take this off.” You began to undo the buttons of his shirt, sliding it with his assistance. He pulled you back in for another kiss, pushing his tongue through your parted lips. He pressed his body against the wall.
You pulled away before placing lingered kiss down his face to his neck. Jeremiah tilted his head up so you could access his neck better. You nibbled on the sensitive part of his neck, causing him to groan. “God, your perfect.” He grunted as he brushed my hair with his fingers.
He scooped you into his arms and led you over to his bed. You let out a faint giggle as he tossed you onto his soft comforter. He climbed on to of you and thanked you by locking his lips with your neck. He placed dark bruises all along your neck as if he wanted everyone to know your body was his.
His free hand crawled up your skirt, tugging at your panties. Your body shivered because of the feeling of everything. Your dripping cunt soaked the cloth of my panties. His hand slowly slid under my underwear and began to message my clit.
You held your breath as you bit back moans. His fingers moved in a slow circular motion as if he was handled your body carefully. The feeling of his fingers while sucking on your collar bone caused my eyes to roll. The muscles in your legs began to tighten as you gripped onto his blonde curls.
You sucked in cold air through your gritted teeth, struggling to stay quiet. You were fragile beneath his touch, he made you weak. Jeremiah finally pulled away from your neck, his fingers inserting inside of you.
You gasped for air, he threw his free hand over you mouth in an attempt to keep you quiet. “You’ve got this. You’re doing so well.” He whispered into your ear. “Y/N, you’re so close.” His warm breath brushed against your neck.
You squirmed as the throbbing in your core increased. You felt a sudden release of sexual tension while a wave of satisfaction washed over you. Your muscles loosen as you listened to your racing heart.
He pulled his hand out from under your skirt and looked at the glistening liquid on his fingers. You blushed with embarrassed and looked away.
“Good girl.” Jeremiah husked. With his clean hand he brushed some hair out of your face.
“Is there anything you want me to do to you?” You asked him hesitantly. Even though you didn’t have much experience you didn’t want him to feel like he only had to give and not receive.
“Just let me handle it, I’ll make you feel good.” He winked. “Just relax.” He went down to the foot of the bed and got down on his knees. He grabbed your ankles and pulled you closer to him.
You let out a tiny giggle anxiously as he spread your legs. He flashed you an innocent look before flipped back your skirt. He started slow by placing lingering kisses on your inner thighs. They were warm and damp as he grew closer between your legs.
He slowly pulled down your panties and, with your assistance, took them off. He stuck his head back between your legs and wrapped his arms around your upper thighs. His strong arms were able to pin you down as he flicked his tongue against your clit.
You shuddered at the sensation, letting out a quiet moan. His mouth lapped against your lips, taking in all your juices. You knew he was experienced and for a while you couldn’t tell whether that upset you or intrigued you.
It didn’t matter now.
In this vulnerable moment, you knew you were his and he was yours.
Your body was in his possession.
You struggled to sit up, but when you did, you held yourself up with your elbows. You threw your head back as you let out a whimper. “Jere,” you whispered as you felt yourself growing closer.
Your breathes were shaky and your toes curled. There was an ache that shot through your legs, but you were so overwhelmed with pleasure that you ignored it.
“Right there,” you purred. You bit down hard on your bottom lip in an attempt to keep quiet. You knew doing this in the house was risky, but it felt so good. The danger was hot.
He sucked until you could no longer contain your. Your body froze momentarily while the sound of your pulsing heart filled my ears. You let out a choked moan as you finished.
You looked down meeting his eyes while taking in deep breaths. Your eyes widened in fear, you had came all over his mouth. He found your horror amusing as he smirked, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Didn’t know you had a wild side of you, Y/N. Glad I could meet it.” He got off the floor and placed a kiss on your forehead. “Do you want to stay the night? Maybe we could go further?” He cooed while wiggling his eyebrows.
You searched for your phone, finding your bag on the ground next to the door. You got up and pulled it out, looking at the time. It was almost 1 in the morning.
“I should probably get home. My sister’s probably worried sick.” You grabbed your underwear off the floor and slipped them back on. “We could continue you this tomorrow?” You flashed him a hopeful smile.
Jeremiah chuckled as he gave you a quick kiss. It felt weird tasting yourself on his lips. “You’re adorable. Of course.”

The Stars That Shine
Summary: could you do something w conrad based off of mary’s song oh my my my by taylor swift 🥺
Author’s Note: Im so sorry I struggled so much writing this but I hope you love it and it’s what you were hoping for <3
Tumblr media
It was like there was just something between you and Conrad that everyone else could see even when you couldn’t. You’d grown up in the house next to his in Cousins and so, every summer without fail, you spent every waking moment with him. It was like summer started so nothing else mattered. He was two years older than you and for the majority of your life he’d made that abundantly clear - he treated you like a little girl in comparison to him. He saw you in the same way he saw Jere, younger than him and so someone he had to be responsible for.
When you were 8, he threw you into the pool and then fought you when you tried to get back at him for it. You’d slipped on the concrete and cut your knee, and Susannah had told him he was too big to be fighting you. He’d patched you up with a plaster over the cut and bought you an ice cream from the van when it came past.
When you were 10, he punched a boy that jumped the queue in front of you over at the boardwalk. You’d been queuing to use the karts, and a boy had treated you like you were invisible. Conrad grabbed your arm and pulled you behind him, turning the guy around and clocking him in the jaw. He bruised his knuckles and you bought him fries from the stall to make up for it. You remembered it every time you ended up back at that boardwalk.
When you were 12, he got dared to kiss you one night when the group of you were all camping out at the beach. He refused at first and both of you forgot about it. But, later that night, he’d stopped you on the sand and told you that he never backed down from a dare. You ran away before he had the chance. Neither of you mentioned it after that day.
When you were 14, you realised for the first time that you liked him. He was getting ready for a date and you watched him fix his hair in the mirror, the pain settling on your chest that it wasn’t you he’d be with. He’d told you to wish him luck and you couldn’t find a word to respond with. A few hours later, Conrad had returned and told you dating wasn’t for him, he’d shook hands with you that he’d never go on a first date again. You’d laughed and taken the bet, hoping to God for just a moment that the next one would be with you.
When you turned 16, it was like Conrad saw you completely differently. You turned up in Cousins that summer and he saw you as a whole new person. He’d looked at you on the driveway like he was looking at a stranger, until his hand stretched out and he ruffled your hair on your head. You blushed under his touch and prayed he didn’t notice.
But there was just something so different about that summer. You felt Conrad’s eyes on you whenever he had the chance, the way he listened in to what you said just a little more intensely, the way he defended you when the boys started being dicks. The little things that just didn’t feel the same as they normally did.
It was that same summer that Conrad first took you out in his truck. His father had bought it for him for Christmas and got Jere one too - now that both of them could drive. Conrad had always complained that he’d have to wait for Jeremiah but it didn’t seem to matter now that he had his car. It started with just little trips to the store, spending a little longer with each other browsing through the aisles before he took the long way home. And then one night, when you couldn’t sleep, it felt like everything changed.
———
You made your way slowly downstairs, breezing past your parents’ room where they both slept soundly. With no real reason why, you just couldn’t sleep tonight. And there was only so long you could lay in bed waiting for sleep to take you.
You slip on a hoodie over your bralette and shorts and grab a pair of flip flops, heading out of the back door and into the yard. It was so much more peaceful at night. You’d sleep out here if you could.
It was rare you spent much time at home in this place, however. All of your best memories were made in the house next door - Susannah was the hostess and your parents always accepted that. You walk down the length of the garden alongside the hedged fence joins the two yards, your eyes flicking into their side.
That’s when you see him. Illuminated by the lights in the water, seemingly giving him an eerie glow, his legs drifting back and forth under the surface from where he sat at the edge of the pool.
“Con?” You hiss into the silent air and he instantly bolts his head up to look at where the noise has come from.
He smiles when he sees you, standing up from the poolside and wiping his hands on his shorts, “Are you stalking me (Y/l/n)?”
“Don’t flatter yourself Fisher,” You roll your eyes, wrapping your arms around yourself.
He smirks and makes his way over to you until you’re both stood in front of each other, separated by the short hedge between you.
“Why are you awake?”
Conrad shrugs, “I never sleep early.”
You nod, “I can’t sleep.”
You feel the way his eyes watch you, the way they seem to melt into your skin. The way you seem to heat up just a little under his gaze.
“Do you want to go somewhere?”
“Now? Con it’s like 1am,” You frown, glancing back up to him.
He shrugs, “Do you have anything better to do?”
And so, he disappears back into his house and you take the alleyway at the side of yours, waiting for him out the front against the passenger door of his car.
Only moments later, he steps outside, swinging his keys around one finger as he makes his way over to you. You both clamber in and he drives off without another word.
You look out of the passenger window at the passing cars and don’t notice the way he watches you. The way his eyes are on you as if they can’t be torn away. Conrad wasn’t exactly sure when things had changed - or if they’d ever changed at all. He just knew that he saw you now and saw someone he couldn’t be without. Like someone had made him see you in a completely different light. Had he always felt like this and only now realised?
“Have you seen the-“ You turn your head back around and notice his eyes solely on you, feeling a blush burn at your cheeks, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I just-“ He stops himself.
“Focus on the road Fisher,” You roll your eyes, drawing your knees up to your chest on the chair.
“That’s my sweatshirt,” He points out, turning another corner as the two of you drive down another country lane.
Eventually, he parks the car up on the hills overlooking the town, both of you still sat in the front seats staring out over the dark view.
“So why couldn’t you sleep?” Conrad asks you, leaning his head back against the headrest.
You shrug, “I don’t know. Just stuff on my mind I guess.”
He nods, “Go on.”
“Do you-“ You stop yourself, shifting in your seat so that you’re sat sideways, facing him directly, “Do you feel like… I don’t know, like this summer has been different than before?”
You watch his Adam’s apple bob as he swallows the lump in his throat, “In what way?”
“Come on Con,” You scoff, “I feel like I stranger showing up here again, I know you’re all looking at me like I’m a new person.”
He jumps the gun quickly to correct you, “It’s not like that, I know you’re still you.”
You roll your eyes, “Then why are you being so different with me?”
“I just-“ He stops himself, reaching out to brush your hair away from your face, as if he wants to frame your features in the perfect light, “It just feels like this summer I actually woke up. Saw what was right in front of me.”
“And what’s that?” You stop yourself from smiling, feeling so nervous with the way he cupped your cheek.
His thumb brushes along your jaw, until it is at the base of your chin, “You.”
Slowly, cautiously, like he’s giving you both the time to overthink, he draws you into him and you pull to him like a magnet. His breath fans over your lips before you close the space between you, his lips soft and uncertain against yours. You hadn’t kissed anyone before, you didn’t have a clue on what to do. But his hand keeps you pulled into him and his fingers are in your hair and his lips move against yours like they were meant to be there. He holds you like he’s been waiting to for a short forever.
Conrad’s hands move lower, pressing against your back to pull you into him, both of you angled awkwardly over the console of the car. He fumbles in his seat to draw you close to him despite the block between you and both of you laugh against each other.
“Terrible place for a first kiss,” He mumbles against you, his forehead pressing against yours.
You smile and pull away from him, “I think we’re just impatient.”
“Oh I think we’ve both waited long enough to do that,” He scoffs, “C’mere.”
One hand drops to draw his chair as far away from the wheel as it will go before they’re both back onto you, gripping and grasping at your hoodie to pull you over to him. You giggle as you clamber over onto his lap.
He grips your waist as you settle down onto his thighs, your noses bumping together in the small space.
“Hi,” You grin, holding both of his shoulders as if convincing yourself he was real.
His hands slip beneath the waistband of your hoodie, for no other reason than to convince himself that you were real too, that he could feel you there.
“Hi.”
———
You and Conrad had stayed together for the following year without any hiccups. He drove to your home, you drove to Boston, you met in the middle in Cousins. You spent Thanksgiving with his family, and he came to yours after Christmas. You called each other nearly every night and the long distance never seemed to feel like too far. All up until when the two of you were back in Cousins. Your parents hadn’t come this summer but you had, and you stayed at Susannah’s place. It was the most time you and Conrad had ever spent together, waking up together, going to sleep together, it was all you’d been wanting since he’d first kissed you in that car.
But all pieces of heaven come with tiny bits of hell. And it didn’t take too long for the perfect bubble to burst.
You’d been at the beach at a bonfire party, and you’d been accepting any drink that someone offered you. It was starting to hit you a little bit, the sort of buzz that warmed your veins and heightened your confidence.
“Where’s Con?” You frown at Jeremiah, squinting around the mass of bodies to try and spot your boyfriend.
“I don’t know,” Jere shrugs, “I think I saw him with Steven by the fire.”
You nod and trail your steps in that direction, stumbling a little on the uneven sand.
“Hey!” An unfamiliar pair of hands grab your waist, “Come and dance with me.”
You push them away and turn your head back to see a boy you don’t recognise, rolling your eyes.
“Oh come on, don’t be boring,” He encourages, “Dance with me.”
His hands snake around your waist again and you push them off.
“Get off me!” You exclaim, turning around to face him.
“Oh is that how you’re playing it?” The boy smirks, “What have you got a boyfriend or something?”
“I-“
“Hey, do you want to back the fuck off?” Conrad’s voice bellows from beside you, coming up towards the boy and shoving him square in the chest.
He stumbles backwards on the sand but catches himself before he falls.
“Who the fuck are you?” The boy scoffs, looking up to meet Conrad’s eyes before looking back at you, at the way Conrad shields you with his body, “You’re her boyfriend?”
“How about you leave her alone?” Conrad waves the boy off, watching as he walks off from the both of you before he turns around to face you.
“God he wouldn’t get off me he-“
“We’re going home.”
Conrad’s voice is cold, emotionless - a way you’d never heard him speak towards you.
“Wh-“
“We’re leaving,” He snaps once again, “I’m driving.”
“Con wh-“
He holds your arm in his grasp and tries to lead you away from the party, getting you as far as being just slightly away from the big crowd.
“Conrad get off me, you’re hurting me!” You exclaim, pulling your wrist from his grip, “What’s wrong with you?”
“(Y/n) you’re drunk and we’re going home,” He says harshly, looking at you with eyes that didn’t feel like his own, “Now get in the car.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” You wrap your arms over your chest, “Why are you being like this?”
“Because you’ve got guys fucking trying it on with you, thinking they’ve got a chance with you, and I’m stood right there (Y/n)!”
“Nothing happened!” You half-laugh, “He grabbed me and I told him to stop. What the fuck is wrong with that?”
“You think they don’t think they’ve got a chance with you?” Conrad raises his eyebrows, “Are you fucking blind?”
“No I’m not blind Conrad but I’m not going to fucking cheat on you with the first guy that shows me attention. Who the hell do you think I am?”
His shoulders drop a little like he’s realised the effect, but Conrad being Conrad will only let the mask slip for so long before he’s back to the coldhearted demeanour he seemed to have adopted for the night.
“Okay, we’re taking both of you home,” Steven walks over to interject, “I’ve not been drinking, I’m driving.”
You look at Conrad for a moment longer like you’re hoping he’s going to change his mind and reach out for you and apologise but he doesn’t make any move to do so.
He walks off ahead with Steven and you walk behind with Belly and Jeremiah.
Everyone is deathly silent on the drive home until you reach the house and they mumble a quick ‘good night’ before going into separate bedrooms. Conrad still hasn’t looked you in the eyes and, as you sober up more and more, you’re convincing yourself he never will.
“Con can we please-“
You pause as you watch him rummaging through the closet to pull out a pillow and blanket.
“What are you doing?”
“Sleeping downstairs,” He returns bitterly, turning around towards the door.
“You can’t be serious,” You scoff, “That’s it? You’re not even going to talk to me about it?”
“I’ve said what I wanted to say,” Conrad shrugs, “We’re not going to agree so now what?”
“We fight it out Conrad. We talk about it like fucking adults,” You shake your head, “We don’t just give up and act like each other’s worst enemy.”
He doesn’t respond.
“You’re unbelievable.”
“I’m unbelievable? I’m not the one with a guys arms around my fucking waist!”
“What the fuck was I supposed to do?” You yell, unbothered about every other pair of listening ears in the house.
Conrad doesn’t reply once more, stepping past you to walk into the corridor.
“You know what? Go fuck yourself Conrad,” You state coldly and he glances back only momentarily to watch as you slam the bedroom door, feeling it shake the room around you before you fall to the floor in tears.
The only other sound comes from his feet creaking the stairs on their way down.
The following morning, you’re up before anyone else in the house. You could barely sleep in the night, feeling oddly cramped in the spacious bed, feeling cold in the too-hot room.
Eventually, you give up on trying to sleep any more and instead make your way downstairs.
The couch is empty, apart from a small pile with the pillow and blanket stacked on top of each other. You frown a little at the sight, desperate for the calm of seeing Conrad asleep and peaceful. Your eyes draw outside to the garden where you can just about make out the shape of a body across one of the sun loungers, tucked away in the shade at the side of the pool.
He must be freezing.
You grab the blanket from the couch and tuck it under your arm, stepping outside as quietly as you can to reach Conrad.
His arms are wrapped over his chest and his heads tilted to the side, stretching out his prominent jawline. His breaths are calm and even and you’re conscious as ever to not wake him as you stretch out the blanket to lay over him.
You’re just about to turn away when you see his eyes start to flutter open just a little.
“(Y/n)?” Conrad’s voice croaks as you turn back towards the house.
You grimace a little and look down at the floor, “I- I thought you might be cold.”
Certain more than ever that this wasn’t the time to start up another argument, you start to make your way back inside with hurried steps.
“(Y/n) wait!” Conrad calls after you, “Will you stay?”
You pause in your steps and turn around to face him, “I-“
But it’s easier to not say a word, as if you don’t want to ruin the moment. You walk over to him slowly and he shifts over on the lounger so that there’s one thin half of it for you to lay on. He stretches out an arm and you lay down, resting your head on his chest whilst his other arm drapes the blanket over you. Both of you are silent at first, as if wanting to breathe in every ounce of contact you’d been missing.
“I’m sorry about last night,” Conrad says, trailing one hand up and down your back, “I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”
You nod, “I’m sorry too. I should’ve just listened to you and I know you we-“
“Baby,” He speaks so softly you’re sure your heart swells at the feeling of him coming back to you.
You lean up slightly, just enough to rest on your elbow and turn your head to face him.
“I was in the wrong,” He assures you, “I’d been drinking and I saw you with that guy and I just flipped and I shouldn’t have.”
You nod, resting a hand on his chest, “It was kind of hot when you shoved him though.”
Conrad chuckles, wrapping his arm around your waist to pull you between his legs, letting you lay over his torso, “You think?”
You shrug, “Just yell at the guy more and not me next time.”
He smiles softly, “Noted.”
———
Arguments came rarely and calmly between the two of you after that day. When you did disagree, it was softer and sadder - less fuelled and less aggressive. Conrad never raised his voice at you, and you never raised your voice at him. You told him when you were upset and he told you when he was irritated. It worked.
You’d been together for five years before things changed again. You were a year out from graduating college and Conrad was practically waiting for the day when you would. He’d already graduated so he came to visit you on the weekends when he could, he worked a job in a research lab in Boston and he’d call you when he finished to tell you about what he’d done that day. The plan for after you graduated was to get the money to buy your parents’ Cousins house from them. The two of you, in Cousins, in the place you’d fell in love. It would be a dream.
You were back in Cousins for the summer after your third year of college and you were, of course, staying with his family and the Conklins. Everything had been completely normal until this one day where it felt like the whole house’s mood had shifted.
“Morning babe,” You yawn as you walk downstairs, into the kitchen where Conrad and Jere are speaking in hushed tones.
They stop abruptly when you walk in.
“Hey!” Jeremiah smiles a little too widely, “I’m gonna… I’m gonna head out.”
You frown as he hurries past you and turn back to Conrad.
“What was that about?”
He shrugs and walks over to you, wrapping his arms around your waist, “Jere’s Jere.”
You rest your head against his chest and breathe in the scent of cologne that clings to his clothes.
“Do you fancy waffles?” He suggests, his hands moving up to your shoulders to massage the skin over the material of your baggy t-shirt.
You pull away from him and narrow your eyes, “Waffles?”
“Don’t look at me like that, Im being romantic,” He rolls his eyes at you, walking away to get the ingredients from the cupboard.
“Oh I’m not complaining,” You grin, pushing yourself to sit on the countertop, “Did I forget an anniversary or something?”
“Can’t a guy do something nice for his girlfriend without an ulterior motive?” He questions you, walking over to open the cupboard beside your legs, pulling out the waffle iron.
You shrug, “We’ll see.”
As he stands back up, he leans in quickly to kiss you, “I’ve got some errands to run later but I’ll be back in time for dinner, Belly suggested we all go out.”
“Our for dinner? We never go out for dinner,” You frown, “Why would we-“
“Stop being so suspicious,” Conrad scoffs, “We’ll go somewhere nice.”
“You’re weird today,” You joke and he rolls his eyes at you once again.
Later that day, Conrad’s still out and you get a text from him telling you he’ll meet you at dinner rather than coming home first. You’ve been lounging around the house since he left, soaking in the sun in the garden before you came in to shower.
Belly knocks on your bedroom door as you’re laying across the bed watching The Office.
“Hey!” She grins, “Do you know what you’re wearing to dinner?”
You frown as she drops down onto your mattress, “No I’ll probably just put a jumper on or something.”
“I think-“ She looks around your room, “I think we should dress up.”
“Dress up? You’ll never get the boys to agree to that,” You laugh, “Where are we even going?”
She shrugs, “You’ll find out.”
You lean up onto your elbows and narrow your eyes at her, “Why’s everyone being so suspicious today? What aren’t you telling me?”
She laughs and her mouth moves like she can’t find the words, “I’m not saying anything.”
“Belly!” You exclaim as she hurries off from your bed.
“Just… wear something nice,” She sticks her head around the frame of your door, “Maybe that white dress that Conrad loves.”
You glance over to the closet and glaze over your appearance in the mirror. Maybe you should make an effort, it was rare you were ever going anywhere fancy enough to do anything like that. But they all seemed set on making this night a good one - who were you to question that?
Within the hour, you’ve done some light makeup, brushed through your hair and curled the bits around your face, and pulled on the white dress that Conrad loved so much.
When you step out to walk down the stairs, Belly, Steven, Taylor and Jere are all stood looking up at you.
“What the fuck is going on?” You laugh, “I feel like I’m going to prom.”
“Wh-“ Steven coughs, glancing at the others, “We’re just, um, you know, we don’t want to be late.”
You grab your purse quickly and hurry down the stairs, “Calm down, Im ready now.”
They follow you outside and you all walk over to Jere’s car where you go to open the back door.
“Um,” Belly stops you, “You can sit in the front.”
You look at her with a puzzled expression before climbing into the front with Jeremiah, watching as the other three pile into the back.
“Seriously guys what the fuck is going on?” You question as Jere pulls off from the driveway and starts down the road.
“What are you talking about?” Taylor shrugs, “We’re just hungry.”
“Everyone’s like treading on eggshells with me today, it’s weird,” You comment, “Con seemed like weirdly nervous before he left earlier too, I’ve never seen him run out of the door so quickly and I-“
You pause as the sights around you seem to change, Jeremiah taking a turn down a country lane.
“Jere this isn’t the way to the restaurant we need to go…”
You stop yourself once more as his face breaks into a grin that it’s impossible to hide.
“Seriously what aren’t you telling me?” You turn around to glance at the three of them in the back, all of their heads close together looking out of the windscreen.
Belly nods her head in that direction and you turn back to the front, your lips parting and every single sensation in your body seeming to ignite and disappear all in one moment.
There, in the exact spot where he’d first kissed you, is Conrad.
There’s a scattering of rose petals laid out across the grass and candles lining the edge of the cliff that dips down towards the town.
“Oh my god,” You exhale, glancing at the others in the car with tears already in your eyes.
“Go on, I think he’s waiting for you,” Jeremiah nods, squeezing your arm.
The other three look at you with widened eyes and bright smiles on their faces as you open the passenger door and step out.
“I was worried Jere would take you the wrong way,” Conrad calls over to you as you walk over towards him.
“Conrad this is-“ You stop yourself, glancing around at the sight that you’re sure is something out of a dream, “I don’t even know what to say.”
“You look beautiful,” Conrad reaches out his hands for you to hold, “I- God, I’d planned this whole thing and now it’s like I don’t know where to start.”
You step just a foot in front of him and squeeze his hands, looking up at him with watering eyes.
“(Y/n) I love you,” Conrad smiles back at you, “And there are a thousand words I could say now to tell you that, but nothing will be more important than telling you that I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life loving you. And so…”
“Oh my god,” You release again, watching as he lowers down onto his knee, reaching back into his pocket to pull out a small velvet box.
“(Y/n) (Y/l/n) will you marry me?”
“Oh my god,” You repeat once again as if they’re the only words going through your brain, your eyes spilling with tears.
Conrad looks up at you with overwhelming emotion in his eyes, “Well?”
“Yes!” You laugh, grasping either side of his face in your hands as he stands up onto his feet, “Of course! Yes!”
He looks down to push the silver ring onto your finger before wrapping his arms around your waist, lifting you up into his grasp before he lowers you down to the ground. His eyes shift into that same adoration they’d held for you when you first came here that night, and he leans in to kiss you with the same excitement as that first time too.
At the sight, a chorus of cheers extend from the car and you both glance over to see all four of them staring out the window with wide grins over their faces.
You laugh through the tears in your eyes and Conrad tightens his arm around your waist, pulling you as close to him as humanly possible.
In that moment, in that perfect moment, you think of your six year old self, when you’d been a blushing mess meeting Conrad for the first time. Your twelve year old self so terrified at the thought of kissing him. The sixteen year old self that first kissed him in that car. And every year since of loving him.
You see yourselves getting married, your families laughing and telling you they knew it would be this way all along. The two of you growing old together, watching your kids grow up too. And, eventually, being sat in the same spot on this same cliff overlooking this same town, with the boy who’d held your heart for your entire life.
The boy who’d always be your Connie.

it was the first thing you noticed. how easy it was to let his lips slant over yours, to tilt your head back at the greedy request of his hands, to forget about the party and conrad and the house.
it was just him and the feel of his mouth on yours.
you hadn't expected this, to say the least. in fact, you'd been bracing for an awkward and mostly miserable night. ever since conrad and you had split back in june, things had been awful. the breakup had been bad itself--getting ditched at prom without explanation was one thing--but watching conrad get back with nicole a week later was even worse.
so you were pleasantly surprised with yourself when you decided to go to the fisher's goodbye party, despite whatever tension there might be between you and conrad.
if you were being honest with yourself though, you mostly had jeremiah to thank. you two had been best friends since childhood, but ever since his brother had broken your heart, jere had been there for you. all the time, really. he'd drive down on weekends to check up on you. and when susannah had gotten worse, you'd driven up to make sure he was eating and sleeping too.
so of course he'd been able to convince you to come stay, waving off your concerns about conrad. i want you there, he'd said. i really want you there. and so you'd come. you arrived late, tired from the hours of highway driving. already the house was packed with hap hazardously parked cars and drunk teenagers. the music was loud even on the warm streets outside, and you couldn't help but feel excited as you pulled your bag out of your car and started towards the party.
taylor was the one who opened the door for you. she launched herself into a hug, giggling and shrieking as you two swung around.
"oh my god. you have no idea how happy i am to see you," she yelled, dragging you into the crowded house.
together you fumbled upstairs, eventually breaking into one of the larger rooms. various assortments of air mattresses and water beds covered the floor. jere had called you as soon as they'd gotten back from the boardwalk about julia's suprise moving. it wasn't often you heard him so... defeated.
"you can drop your stuff wherever," said taylor, "but the one in the corner is jeremy's."
she didn't even bother to hide her grin as you slapped her arm. nothing, not even your best kept secret, made it past taylor.
"shut up. you can't say anything to him or i swear i'll kill you," you promised, only half joking.
"oh please. he hasn't stopped talking about you the whole trip. it's disgusting."
you tried not to smile at that--jere talked about you? i mean, he'd called you just about every day for the last few months. more, on days when things were hard. but still, you felt almost nervous at the thought of seeing him now. of what it might be like between you.
your thoughts were cut off by a shout of your name. running into the room was belly. well, not running--rolling.
"oh my god bell what are you wearing?" you asked. it was too late though, because she was wrapping you up in a wobbly, crushing hug.
"roller skates? duh? they're an old pair of susannah's," she said.
you'd missed belly. she looked fucking adorable in her little vintage number, and you hugged her again just because. over her shoulder you could see steven grinning, and conrad too. you waved to the later while steven strode over, ruffling your hair before taking your bag from you.
"long time no see, city-girl," he said.
"yeah yeah yeah. just be nice to my bag, okay? it's got some very delicate presents," you said. steven raised his eyebrows but did as you said, placing your bag onto the bed taylor had indicated earlier. jere's bed. taylor and steven met eyes and winked--uh oh. the last thing you needed was them trying to set you up with your best friend. your best friend who you're in love with, something inside you said. you tried your best to strangle it.
"hey."
this time it was conrad, who was sporting a pair of atrocious sunflower sunglasses on the top of his head.
"hey. i like the glasses," you said, doing your best to smile. it was weird to talk like this to him. you were so angry and embarrassed and sad because of him for so long, and now there was just... nothing. and it felt okay.
"uh, yeah. nicole--nicole got them for me."
he looked sheepish, blushing in a way that used to have you fawning. now you just did your best to nod, saying, "well, she's certainly got a good eye for fashion."
you were saved from the conversation by steven's cough. he stood by the doorway, impatiently waving you towards the party.
"cmon guys, can we hurry this up?"
"yeah, gimmie one sec," you promised. returning to your bag you pulled out the liquor you'd secured on your way there, the bottles heavy in your hands.
"see," you said, turning back to your friends, "presents."
-
downstairs was even louder than you thought it would be. belly had gone all out for the party--strobe lights blared in every room, a kegger was set up outside, and a dj (was that cam cameron??) was spinning in the living room. you had to admit it: you were having a good time. a really good time. except for, that is, one thing. or person, really. jere was nowhere to be found. he'd even missed out on the group shots you, steven, taylor, belly and conrad had downed first beside the pool and then by the kitchen. jeremiah never missed group shots.
a little more than drunk now, you pushed off from your spot on the counter to find your bestfriend.
"city-girl, where you going?" asked steven.
"i'm gonna go find jere. i haven't seen him since i got in."
"i'll come with you," a voice spoke up.
it was conrad, who looked between you and the floor nervously. you didn't miss the questioning looks that pass between taylor and belly. you shrug at them--a little nervous, but not enough to turn him down in front of all your friends.
"uh, yeah sure."
so you and conrad made your way back through the party, scanning couches and corners for jeremiah. by the time you hit the stairs you were both sweaty and annoyed. you had come all this way to see him, and all of a sudden he'd disappeared.
"he's not picking up any of my calls," said conrad, pulling his phone away from his ear.
"me neither," you admitted, letting yourself swing around the banister to sit at the bottom of the staircase. cautiously, conrad gestured to empty landing beside you.
"mind if i join?"
you nod, scooching over to make room. conrad looked bigger than last time you'd seen him. he looked stronger too. for a while after susannah died he'd looked like a corpse--pale and skinny and only half there. even you could admit you were glad to see him doing so much better.
"hey, look i didn't really tag along to search for jere," conrad said, glancing back at you. shocker.
"i uh," he cleared his throat, "i mostly just wanted to apologize. for how things ended. i know i messed up really bad and i wanted to say i'm sorry."
in the hazy blue and purple's of the dance floor below, conrad's steel-blue eyes were genuine. for the first time that night they held yours steadily.
"i was hurting, and let myself fall on you for comfort even when i knew you weren't who i wanted. who i needed. and it wasn't fair to you. i know that now, and i'm sorry it took me so long. i'm really, really sorry."
huh. you hadn't really expected that one either. but it was nice to hear him say those words. you liked conrad. he was a good guy who'd had a rough hand delt to him. and yeah, he hadn't done right by you. but like susannah had always repeated:
"no harm no foul," you said, and let yourself smile at him. he looked relieved as he smiled back, no doubt recognizing the reference to his mother.
"you're happy now, i take it? with nicole?" you ask.
"yeah. more than happy, actually. don't know what i did to deserve her."
you're happy for him, in that moment. really happy.
"what about you? you finally stopped messing around and admitted your feelings to jere?" he asked.
"huh?" you drop, mouth open. there's no way.
"what," he chuckled, grinning harder at your shocked expression, "like it's not obvious you two are crazy for each other."
you can feel the blush spreading across your cheeks now, stomach skipping at his words. so they all knew, you realized. does jere?
"he doesn't--you didn't tell him, right?" you said, panic rising.
conrad shakes his head, still looking amused.
"no, but he'd be a fool not to see it. you guys are perfect for each other. really."
"thanks, conrad."
and you mean it--it's been months of awkwardness between you. and now you just feel... good. you feel like you've got your friend back. so you lean over and hug him, letting yourself remember that before your fling you were friends, and returning back to it feels comforting and warm.
"thank you, for hearing me out. i'm glad we can be back to normal now," he said into your shoulder.
"friends again?" you ask.
"definit--"
"what the fuck?"
-
it's jeremiah. he stands at the top of the stairs, eyes wide. he's wearing the ariana grande merch you'd gotten him. he looks the same and yet--
and yet something in your chest fizzes and your stomach starts running circles as you look at him. you missed him. and not because he was your best friend.
"jere--it's not what it looks like," said conrad.
and then you realized he did look different. the jeremiah you knew was always grinning about some secret joke, or making fun of belly or steven. he never looked... betrayed like this. and he certainly never looked at you with disgust. with anger.
"what the fuck are you guys doing?" he asked again, but this time he didn't even look at you.
"nothing, jere. we were just talking," said conrad.
you cringed at his words. they might be true, but they sure didn't sound good.
"yeah, sure," laughed jere. you'd never heard him laugh like that. it made your skin prickle.
"c'mon, you know i'd never do that-" conrad started.
jeremiah was faster though. he was up in conrad's face in a second, pushing him into the wall. you'd never seen him like this. he wasn't an aggressive guy; even when the brothers fought it was never violent.
"don't fucking lie, con. you were just waiting to take her back weren't you? waiting until you knew it'd hurt me the most, huh?"
you felt his words viscerally, like they were being penned onto your skin. hurt him the most? it was the closest to a confession you'd gotten, but it all felt wrong.
by now, partygoers on the main floor had started to notice the commotion. people were pointing, some even starting to pull out their phones. great.
"jere," you called. he paused, bright blue eyes on you. even now, fighting with his brother, jeremiah looked beautiful. maybe you had had a bit too much to drink.
"jere, please let it go. conrad isn't a part of this," you murmured. though you didn't break eye contact, you could see his hands loosen around his brother's shirt in your peripheral. jaw clenched, he heeded your wishes, giving a final shove to conrad before breaking away. he walked quickly down the stairs and into the throngs of people below.
"jere, wait up!" you call, desperately trying to follow the broad shape of his back through the crowd. jeremiah didn't bother trying to accommodate your smaller strides, and you almost lost him a few times in the packed house.
"would you please slow down? jere," you said again. by now you were out of the house, dodging pool floaties and scattered drinks. the blonde made no indication of hearing you as he kept striding towards the beach.
"jeremiah!"
finally he whipped around. he still looked mad--the set of his jaw, the notching of his eyebrows--but under all of it, he just looked sad. you hated seeing him upset, and you hated knowing you might've been the cause of it.
"jere, please. what's going on?" you asked, this time softly. he was close to you now. you could see his heavy breathing, could smell the perfume he always wore.
"how would i know. you're the one who's looking all close with your ex--my brother--conrad," he spits. he swallows hard, like he's checking himself.
"it was always you and conrad. even when we were kids it was that way. i was stupid to think it could've been any different."
he turned away from you, gaze hard. oh, jere. you have no idea, you thought. it was him--how could he not see that? how could he really think it was conrad you cared about?
you couldn't deny it any longer: you loved jere. and you definitely weren't about to let him walk away thinking otherwise.
quickly, without letting yourself dwell on it, you grabbed jeremiah's hand. he turned back, eyes wide. and you kissed him.
kissing jere was easy.
it was the first thing you noticed. how easy it was to let his lips slant over yours, to tilt your head back at the greedy request of his hands, to forget about the party and conrad and the house.
it was just him and the feel of his mouth on yours.
and then everything was static. everywhere he touched you--the long, lean press of his body to your front, the sharp slide of his jawline under your palm, the firm press of his hands at your waist. every sense was filled with him and his warmth and the way he smelled.
you were gasping into the kiss, hyperaware of the small noises he made when you pulled on his curls. of just how tall he was, how much he had to lean down to hold you like this.
you barely broke away enough to say, "jere, nothing happened with conrad. we were talking about you-"
"don't care," he said, voice rough. because he was too busy lifting you onto one of the wooden boardwalk rails, muscled arms flexing in the distant party lights.
you barely had time to settle before he was kissing you again, sloppy this time, like he owned your mouth and wanted you to know it. you felt hot everywhere, as his hands pulled apart your thighs and he crowded his broad body into you.
you'd kissed once before for a game of truth or dare. it had been sweet and short, and you both had been teased about it for years afterwards. this was different.
wholly different, you realized, as jeremiah's lips sought out the hot skin of your neck. there was no place except where he touched you; the noise of the party, the lull of the waves on the beach, the quiet way he murmured against your skin.
"jere," you said, because there was no room in your mind for anything or anyone else. he hummed as his canines bit lightly at your ear. jere.
greedy for more, you took one of the tan, strong hands holding your face and brought it lower, lower until it rested over your frantically beating heart. jere had pulled away to watch your ministrations, cursing softly as his hand fell over your chest.
"you sure?" he asked, and his voice sounded hoarse.
"yeah, course jere. it's you."
something behind his eyes sparked at the trust you promised. it's always been you. kissing you once more, gentler this time, jere let his hand run up and under the vintage bathing suit top you'd stolen from your mom for the party.
skin on skin, jeremiah was soft and warm. he was breathing heavy as you as he felt you up. forehead to yours, gaze keen as he watched you pant and squirm.
"this okay?"
you could only nod, eyes drawn tight at the sensation. he kissed you again, his touch more confident as you clung to his shoulders.
you'd messed around with conrad a few times. it had felt good. fun, even. but he'd never had you reeling like this, never made you feel like everywhere he touched was fire. that feeling was reserved for jere.
and as his thumb circled your nipple and his teeth pulled at your lip, you realized you were burning and there wasn't anything you could do to stop it. best friend or not, jere was the only one who could make you feel like this. ever.
you pulled away from his mouth. he looked concerned, and you could feel him move his hands away from you.
"sorry if i..." he started, blue eyes near scared as he watched you.
"no, jere it's not that. it's, it's just that i-"
"hey, there's my man! where the fuck were you dude?"
it was steven. fucking steven. on his arm was taylor, who grinned manically when she saw your mussed hair and blushing expression. please not now, taylor. please don't mess this up any more.
but drunk as they were, the pair didn't notice your nervous expression. instead, steven laughed and said, "so did you finally tell her you're in love with her or what?"
-
jere's face dropped. whatever softness you'd shared moments earlier was gone. his mouth set flat, hands that had been mapping out your body now closed into fists.
"fuck you, steven."
taylor's eyes were on you now, finally recognizing the tears you tried to blink away. with a hand on his chest she held steven back, some wordless communication passing between them. if you hadn't been feeling your own heart break you would've been trying to tease them about it.
instead, you chased after jeremiah's retreating figure.
"jere, will you please listen!" you called. but he was stubborn--you knew this better than anyone. one more time you tried, shouting his name over the stupidly loud party.
he whipped back around, blue eyes sharp.
"just stay away from me, okay? why don't you go find conrad to wipe your tears," he snapped. for a moment, jere looked shocked at his own words too. but then he was shaking his head, tearing his gaze away from yours as he continued through the crowds towards the house. away from you.
and this time, as people collapsed into the space all around you, their yelling and singing drowning out even your thoughts, you knew there was no use calling for him.

Oh my god Maxie and trouble!!??!!!!! Literally my favs… no thoughts just domestic max and trouble trying to sleep but she just won’t stop talking and max just kisses her to shut her up and finally get some beauty sleep 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏‼️‼️‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
this was so cute and so self-projecting kqedjewfkqd thank you for requesting! and sorry not sorry to the team jeremiah girls!!🫶🏽
.
If there was one mistake Max made when it came to your relationship, it was agreeing to binge tv shows with you.
And yet, he fell for the trap every single time.
Personally, Max was never one to get overly invested in tv shows or movies. He would enjoy them, there were a few he wouldn’t mind rewatching on the odd rainy day. But he never got attached, whether it be to the show or the plot or the characters.
Not in the way you did.
He had to admit that he did find it adoring just how invested you got. If you liked the show, you were all in. You had your favourite characters and your comfort episodes. For the short time you watched the show until you finished, it was a hefty topic in most of your conversations. You got angry and sad and upset and excited over these shows. Max had never really experienced anything like it.
And usually—usually—he genuinely did find it adorable.
But sometimes there were moments like this one where he majorly regretted watching the show with you.
“I just don’t get how everybody can’t see the clear endgame!”
“Mhm.”
“Like, from music and cinematography and—”
“Mhm.”
“She has to end up with Conrad! She has to! I mean,” you paused for a moment as you let out a scoff. “Who would choose Jeremiah? He just lurks in the background with his creepy blue eyes and weird stare!”
“Mhm,” Max hummed like he had been doing for the last fifteen minutes before he paused. He frowned, opening his eyes to look over at you. “Wait, you don’t think my blue eyes are creepy, right?”
“Of course not, baby,” you murmured with a soft smile. “You have pretty ocean eyes. Jeremiah Fisher has the eyes of a white walker.”
Max snorted.
“I’m serious, Max. They stare into your soul.”
“I think you forget that I watched the show with you, Trouble,” he murmured as his eyes fell shut again, taking in a deep breath as he desperately tried to fall asleep like his body was begging him to do so.
But you had just finished the last episode of season two, you were riled up, and now instead of going to bed and cuddling with him like he wanted, you were sat criss-crossed on the bed as you rambled away about a show Max stopped thinking about the second the tv turned off.
“He is just the clear second option when Conrad is there, all dreamy and perfect and still in love with her and—”
You never got a chance to finish your sentence before Max had sat up, his fingers tangled in your hair as he kissed you mid-sentence. You felt breathless and flushed, and it didn’t take long for you to sink into his embrace as he pulled you back down onto the bed until you were lying on top of him.
“I know you’re angry but you need sleep,” he murmured against your lips as he settled his arms around your middle. “We both do.”
“Mhm,” you hummed, still a little dazed from the kiss.
“And I would prefer to have my girlfriend in my arms rather than talking about some other man being dreamy or whatever you said,” Max added.
You laughed lightly as you nuzzled yourself further into his embrace. “You are Team Conrad though, right?”
“Of course, Trouble,” he murmured and pressed a kiss to the crown of your head. “Now for the love of god, please fucking go to sleep.”

You're Never Late - part I (Jeremiah Fisher x Conklin Reader)
TW: Car accident, panic attack
Tumblr media
Jeremiah knew that something was wrong when you were late. You were never late, especially not an hour late. The fact that you weren’t answering your phone set off his nerves. He paced the floor. He asked Belly, Steven, and Conrad if they had heard from you. He called his mom, your mom, and literally anyone he could think of. Something happened. Something bad. He knew it.
It hadn’t been much longer before his mom called, he didn’t remember much of the phone call, just that you were hit by a drunk driver, it was bad enough to total the car. You were in the hospital. She asked him to tell the others, as she was driving to come pick everyone up.
He felt like the air was sucked out of his lungs and he couldn’t remember how to breathe. His mind was racing, hands shaking as he hung up the phone. He made it downstairs to where the boys were playing video games and Belly was cuddled up with Conrad.
“Guys,” he said softly, struggling to find his voice. No one heard him. Hell, he could hardly hear himself over the pounding in his chest.
“Guys!” he shouted, catching all three off guard. One look at him and you could tell something was wrong. He was visibly on the verge of tears, breathing shallow, fidgeting with his phone.
“Jere, what’s wrong? What happened?” Conrad asked carefully, noting his brother’s obvious distress. Jeremiah was a deer in headlights, one wrong move and he might spook.
“It’s Y/n,” that was all he could manage before he broke down.
Conrad leaped over the back of the couch and took his brother by the arms. “Jeremiah what happened to Y/n?”
Jeremiah swayed ever so slightly. “She was- there was- she got hit- by a- car is totaled--drunk driver -- hospital,” that was all that Conrad could make out, but it was enough.
“Oh my god,” Belly cried out.
“Fuck,” Steven said, reaching for his phone to call your mom.
Conrad tried to push down his feelings to take care of everyone else. He focused his attention on Jeremiah, who was starting to have a panic attack. He knew the signs well.
“Jere, come sit down.” He guided his brother to the couch. “I need you to breathe. In and out just like this.” He took deep breaths,  but Jeremiah wasn’t paying attention. “Jeremiah look at me, you’re having a panic attack. You need to breathe.” He finally caught his brother’s attention and guided him through breaths.
“I can’t lose her,” Jeremiah whispered. His mind was racing with all of the worse-case scenarios. He was beating himself up for not being in the car with you, for not insisting on driving you, for not protecting you.
He was so in his head he completely missed the door opening. His mom came in, face red and puffy. She had told herself she was going to act strong for the kids, but even she was scared.
“What happened?” Conrad asked.
“Y/n was on her way here when a drunk driver ran a red light and hit her car into oncoming traffic, where she was hit again. They had to use the jaws of life to get her out of the car. She was airlifted to the hospital,” she looked at Belly and Steven, “Your mom is there now waiting on an update.”
“Can we go?” Steven asked.
“Of course, we just need to pack a bag of her clothes. Bring your chargers and stuff, it could be a long night,” Susannah answered.
Everyone solemnly left the room to gather their things. Everyone except Jeremiah who felt like his whole world was slipping through his fingers.
“Come here my sweet beautiful boy,” she said, opening her arms.
He melted into her embrace.
“She’s going to be okay,” Susannah hoped.
“You don’t know that.”
“No, I don’t,” she admitted, “but I promise that you will be.”
“I’m scared.”
He reminded Susannah of when he was little and afraid of the monsters hiding under his bed. “Mommy come quick, I’m scared.”
“I know baby, me too.”
She held him for another moment squeezing him tight before pulling away. “Let’s go grab your stuff.”
On the ride to the hospital, Jeremiah stared out the window, his mind was flooded with flashbacks.
“Jere, come dance with me!”
“It’s raining,” he pointed out.
“I know, it’s perfect! Just like the movies!”
The way you smiled that night, made him fall even more in love with you.
-----------
“Jeremiah!” you greeted, nearly tackling him in a hug, “guess what?”
“What?”
“This came in the mail today!” you showed him your official driver’s license, “Now I can come visit you whenever I want,” you beamed.
He picked you up and spun you around.
-----------------
“Are you sure you want to go?” you asked through the phone. There was something behind your tone of voice that he couldn’t quite make out. “It’s not too late to back out. It’s only junior year, we could do prom next year.”
“Y/n, I am almost at your house. Looking fine might I add. We can go hang out for a bit and if it blows, we bail.”
“Okay,” you agree with more excitement in your voice.
Nothing could have prepared him to see you in your dress. You looked breathtaking. He was at a loss for words. Your smile was radiant as you ran to his arms.
--------------
“I can’t believe that it has already been two years,” you say as the two of you walk down the beach hand in hand.
“It’s been the best two years,” Jeremiah replied, he fumbled in his pocket, “I have something for you.”
“Jere, I have something for you too, but it’s back at the house. Do you want to wait?”
“Here,” he said, handing you the small box.
He watched as you opened it, a single tear escaping your eyes. “It’s a promise ring. It’s always been you for me, it always will be.”
“It’s perfect Jere, I love it,” you said, slipping it on your finger, “I love you.”
--------------------
"Jeremiah?" His mom brought him out of his thoughts, "We're here."

Summary: Being Belly & Steven’s older sibling has it’s pros and cons. protecting them and taking care of them is a must, but do you really have to put their feelings first instead of your own?
Prev ; Next || Conrad Fisher x fem!reader || My blog
Warnings: angst, fluff, talking about panic attacks, swearing, crying (lmk if i missed anything!)
───────────────────────────
It was the morning after the incident — thank god I woke up in my own room now. I was still exhausted, tired from last night. I never thanked that person that helped me last night, I never thanked him.
It was 9 in the morning, I decided to just stay in my room. I can’t face them — I just can’t, how can I? I’m still hurt from it, from what they said to me.
There was a knock on my door. “Come in!” I sat up and looked at the door — It was Steven. “Hey sis, goodmorning” Steven walked towards me, he was holding a plate with food in it. Gosh I love Steven, he was the only one who truly cared.
“Hey Steve” I said, looking up to him — smiling at him. “I got you breakfast” he said, titlting his head. He smiled, raising his shoulders.
I stood up and hugged him. We always had each other even from the start, even when we were little. He understands me and I understand him. That’s what I love about our relationship.
“Thank you, Steve. For everything”
“Ofcourse sis. Anything for you” Steven pulled away, rubbing my shoulders. “So, I heard that you had a panic attack last night. You want to talk about it?” He sat down — asking me to sit down with him. He placed the plate on my lap.
As I started to eat my breakfast, Steven said “It’s okay if you don’t want to, I can understand” looking at me — smiling gently.
I looked back at him “No it’s okay, we can talk about it. Just wanted to ask you, who told you?” He looked down, fidgeting with his fingers. He shouldn’t have asked — he thought.
“Oh uh, it was Conrad”
Ofcourse it was him, he was the one who helped me. He was the one who went up to me last night, at the beach.
“Oh, ofcourse” I said looking at him, I smiled — nodding. He just looked at me waiting for an answer. Waiting for me to tell him what the reason was behind my panic attack.
“It was just too much for me last night. I guess I just exploded. I never meant to yell at mom or Belly, I was just too tired. It was like I was in the middle of everything — it wss my first time having that incident, Steve. I thought I wouldn’t make it.” I told him, plopping down on my bed — sighing deeply, putting my arm over my eyes.
“I am so sorry that happened to you sis, I should’ve been there by your side — defending you, I should’ve followed you.” Steven’s voice was filled with worry, with disappointment. I might’ve struggled a lot last night, he thought.
Hearing the sadness in his voice, I sat up — putting my arms around his shoulder “Steve you shouldn’t be sorry, it’s okay. I’m okay now, don’t worry” I looked at him then I leaned my head on his shoulder while he leaned his head on top of my head.
“I got you always, sis. You know that”
“I do, Steve. I also got you, always. I am so thankful for you”
We stayed like that for a moment until Steven had to go because Laurel was calling for him — he had this thing with Shayla — it was probably about the deb ball.
TIME SKIP
After mopping around in my room and doing god know’s what, I decided to go get ready to go out. I couldn’t stay here in my room all day so I decided to go to the beach and get some fresh air.
As I walk downstairs, I saw Susannah — she was with Belly & Laurel in the living room. “Goodmorning, Y/N!” Susannah greeted me, I greeted her back then walked out of the door — completely ignoring my sister and my mom.
Conrad and Jeremiah were in the living room, playing games. I hesistated between going to him or not but I chose not to go to Conrad just to thank him for last night — it’ll just add fuel to whatever heat is going on between me and Belly. It was best to keep quiet and not say anything.
I went out of the door and went straight to the beach.
For me, beaches have a soothing ambiance that nothing can beat. The earthy and salty scents of the sea breeze. The sounds of the ocean and gulls. It calmed me, it is my way of coping.
“Hi, pretty girl” It was Jeremiah — I looked up to him then I pat beside me, telling him to sit down. “Hi Jere” I said smiling. He sat down letting me lean on him.
He put his arms around me, rubbing my shoulders “How are you? I heard you had a fight with Belly yesterday, they were talking about it earlier.” He said — brows furrowed.
“Interesting, I thought they were over it, I guess not. But yeah, we had a fight yesterday but I’m okay now. I don’t really care anymore” I shrugged — not really wanting to waste my time just thinking about that stupid fight that we had.
Jeremiah chuckled “It’s good that you’re unbothered about it right now. You shouldn’t waste your time on that, enjoy your last week here in Cousins!” I just smiled and nodded. I don’t want to promise him anything, knowing that I already made up my mind.
Jeremiah stood up, offering me a hand “You wanna go get ice cream?” he smiled widely — I nodded, giggling.
“So what you gonna get?”
“The usual”
“Coffee” we said at the same time. Jeremiah made a face, a dirty face.
“Ew” he said, teasing me. “Uh don’t you ever! I never teased you about your obsession with milk” I elbowed him in the stomach, he looked at me chuckling.
“I’m just kidding” he said smiling — wrapping an arm around my shoulder as we walked towards the ice cream shop.
───────────────────────────
It was night now, they were all eating dinner but i’m here in the pool swimming — I didn’t feel like eating, it was too awkward for me plus I was still full from earlier because Jeremiah spoiled me with food too much.
I always loved swimming, ever since I was little. Swimming and the beach are one of the things that I love. Swimming just makes me feel a lot better, it make me keep my mind off of things.
I swam and just enjoyed the coolness of the pool. As I returned to the surface — I saw Conrad, a plate beside him, filled with food. He wasn’t smoking this time, he was just watching me swim.
“Hey” Conrad said, looking at me — smiling. I looked at him, I didn’t want to talk to him — I wanted to ignore, to get away from him. I can’t keep hurting my sister. Why is it so hard?
“Oh hi” I turned around, not wanting to look in his eyes. “Uhm, I got you food” Conrad said, I turned to him — I saw him holding up the plate with my favorite, “I made it” he smiled.
I turned and looked at him — confused, why was he doing this? Belly didn’t tell him that we had a fight? Did no one tell him about yesterday? but it’s impossible, he was the one who helped me when I was having a panic attack — maybe he never asked.
He looked at me, his smile faltered. “Hey what’s wrong? why are you ignoring me?” he asked, his voice laced with worry. “I am not ignoring you, Conrad. I’m just confused why you are here and why you made me that food” I looked at him — disappointment started to fill his face, his heart was slowly breaking.
“Oh, i’m sorry” he said, putting the plate down — looking down. I needed to do this — so he would stay away from me. I had to do it, for my sister, for me.
I swam to him — still keeping distance. “You don’t have to say sorry, I guess they just never told you what happened yesterday.” Conrad tilted his head, confused about what happened tomorrow.
“Well I never really asked.”
“Even though you saw me have a panic attack last night?”
“Yeah, it was your business. I didn’t want to just butt in it. I respect your privacy too” Conrad looked at me with his gentle blue eyes.
How can I stay away from him when this is how he cares for me?
“Me, my mom and Belly fought yesterday” I said before swimming away from him.
Conrad stood up, “What? Why did you guys fight?” his voice laced with concern, his brows furrowed — his lips started to frown.
“Well, Belly saw me getting out of your room yesterday” Conrad frowned, his shoulder slumped. Why were you the only one that Belly yelled at — he thought. Why did you have to take the blame?
Conrad’s heart was beating so fast, he wanted to hurt himself. He never wanted this, for Belly and Laurel to accuse you of something you didn’t do. “I am so sorry, Y/N. I-I should’ve been there for you, I should’ve defended you. I should’ve taken all the blame”
“Conra-“
“No… no it was all my fault. I shouldn’t have taken you to my room, now.. now Belly and Laurel is mad at you. I am so fucking sorry, i’m so stupid. Fuck!” He sat down, his head was in his hands. His face filled with frustration. He could’ve taken all the blame — he thought, it was his fault afterall.
I swam all the way to him, my hands on his knees. “Conrad it’s okay, breathe. I’m okay now, everything will be alright. Soon” I took his hand and removed it from his face, I caressed his face and wiped his tears.
He started to lean in but I backed away — I know where this was going — that’s what I thought but in his mind, all he wanted to do was hug me, was to be close to me because it felt like he was losing me, like he was going to lose me.
“Soon?” He asked — I swam all the way to the end of the pool and got out of the pool, he stood up — walking towards me, giving me a towel from the chair.
“I’m planning to go back home tomorrow.” I said, turning to him — we were now face to face. He looked at me with his brows furrowed.
“What? Why?” He said trying to reach for my hand but I pulled away. “It’ll just make things easier, Conrad. For everyone, for me.” I said looking up at him.
I had to stay away from him, this was the only way — was to go back early. I wanted to stay here in Cousins, I wanted to stay with Susannah but I just can’t. I can’t enjoy my last week here when all I can think about was about was him and Belly, together.
“You.. you don’t have to do that y/n. Please just stay, mom would want you to stay. I would never go near you again if that was the only reason why you wanted to go back home.” Conrad was panicking — trying to convince me to stay because he knew that whenever I was here, I never wanted to go back home. This time was different.
I looked at him, holding his shoulders gently, “Conrad, I have to do this. It would be easier for me to focus on college.” he pulled me closer and hugged me, his head was on my shoulder.
“I don’t want you to go, I don’t want to wait another year just to see you”
“Please Conrad. Let’s not make this hard for the both of us”
“It’s our last week, just please… please stay” Conrad pulled away, holding my shoulder gently — looking at me in the eyes.
I pulled away, I took my towel and started to walked towards the door. This conversation wouldn’t go anywhere, I don’t think anything can change my decision.
I went inside the house — I saw all of them in living room, Conrad was right behind me. Belly was about to stand up and walk towards me, probably to yell at me again because i’m with Conrad.
“Belly, come on. Stop it” Conrad looked at Belly, stopping her on saying anything bad. Belly looked at him — confused and mad because Conrad was defending me. “Nothing happened, I just talked to her so stop.” Conrad looked at everyone, making sure Laurel heard him too. He walked towards the couch and sat beside Steven.
“I’m planning on leaving tomorrow.” I said, as I walked towards the kitchen to get a drink. Jeremiah stood up from the couch after hearing me say that, “You’re leaving? why? it’s too early plus we’re leaving sunday, just stay.” he said walking towards the kitchen, grabbing me
I shrugged, “Just thought it would make things easier for everyone” I looked down, trying to stop myself from crying. I dont want to leave but they’re making it hard for me to stay.
“Oh special girl, do you really want to do that?” Susannah asked, her eyes filled with worry. She didn’t want me to leave but she didn’t want to push me into something I didn’t want to do.
I looked at her and nodded, “College is coming soon so I need to focus on that.” Laurel looked at me, she knew what the real reason was, she knew I was tired. She knew that I had to get away from her, from Belly, from all the problems.
Belly sat down beside Conrad then leaned her head on him “Well.. do you want me to help you pack?” she asked, looking at me. I looked at her, surprised that she’s talking to me.
“No, It’s alright. I already started packing earlier so I don’t think I need any help.”
“Oh uhm okay, I guess we’ll just see you when we get home?”
I just nodded before going upstairs to shower. I went in my room first to get my clothes then went straight to the bathroom to clean myself. I can finally let my feelings out.
I sat in the bathtub and cried and cried until I had no more tears to shed. In spite of the fact that I was on my last day here, Laurel did not seem to care at all, it hurt me to receive this type of treatment. However, I made the decision to leave early on my own. I must endure the pain, I must endure the suffering but it's okay , the pain will be over soon, it’ll be over tomorrow — I thought. I’m going to be alright.
───────────────────────────
It didn't occur to me that Steven was having a difficult time as well, I thought I was the only one having a hard time. As I was crying in the bathroom, I did not realize that he was also crying outside listening to me cry — he was crying because I was crying. The reason he was crying was because he did not know what to do, what to say to me in order to keep me. He knew that no one would ever be able to change my decision. All he wanted was to spend time with his family, with Susannah, Conrad, and Jeremiah. Why did it have to be like this?

“I don’t know what Conrad is going to say when he sees Connor.” You said as you were packing your suitcase to head back at another summer at Cousins beach, your best friend Carolina who sitting beside your open suitcase on the bed.
“Come on y/n, Conrad shouldn’t be that upset.” Said Caroline “I mean he was the one to break up with you, and you’re better then that.”
You half smiled at your friend before looking down at your suitcase, to say that you were looking forward to cousins would be a lie.
“I don’t know… the breakup was pretty messy.” You said removing your suitcase before sitting down on your bed.
“Yeah it was bad, you were in a ice cream coma for a long time.” Said carolina “besides this summer is the summer to embrace who you are! Be yourself.”
You smiled at Carolina, before nodding your head in confidence.
"Your right! I need to just be myself."
"That's the spirit." said Carolina "Now I have to go home before my mom makes an Amber Alert for me." said Carolina as she looked at her phone before looking back up at you "Have fun, remember, call me if I need to fight anybody."
You laughed waving her off.
Tumblr media
"Ok kids I need you all to pitch in to help with the chores this summer." said you mother "Plus with Susannah in the shape that she is we will be helping her as much as we can."
"Wait... What do you mean with the shape that she is in?" you asked as you stopped mid-bite of your Fruity Pebbles.
"We didn't want to tell you kids till the end of summer because of the boys but... Susannah's cancer is back."
"is she going to be ok, right?" you asked, pestering your mother with questions about her health, your mother stayed silent.
"Oh my god... I need to talk to belly." you said as you stand up, but your mother stops you with her hand on your arm.
"She can't know y/n." said your mother "Susannah wanted to wait till the summer is over so that we all can have one last full summer together.
You nodded your head, letting the news sink in.
"ok mom... I keep it a secret."
Tumblr media
"Come on Conrad, you seriously can't still be hung up on y/n." said Jeremiah as he was playing video games with steven, taking his eyes off the tv every few seconds.
"I heard that she got hot." said Steven "From the way Belly talks she has a whole boyfriend and everything."
"Can we stop talking about y/n?" asked Conrad as kept his focus on the television "Besides I don't care if she has a boyfriend or not."
"Oh thats right?" asked Steven as he paused the video game to face Conrad "Your dating Nicole."
At that moment, Belly came stumbling down the stairs in a blue and white summer dress, before she can open the door; laurel stops her.
"Where do you think you're going young lady?"
'Over to y/n's house... Me and Cam are double dating her and Conner at the drive in."
"Well... Ok." said Laurel "But be back by 10."
"11?" asked Belly
"10:30, and that's it."
"Yay! see you guys later." said Belly as she walked out the door, Laurel walks back into the kitchen, the boys hearing hushed voices from Susannah and Laurel.
"Belly has a date?"
"With y/n and Conner."
"Oh that sweet boy that Connie keeps mentioning? he so handsome, apparently he is lifeguarding with Jeremiah at the country club this summer.
"You know what I'm thinking?' whispered Steven to Jeremiah and Conrad.
"No... what?" asked Jeremiah
"Crashing this 'double date'."
"You know we can't do that?" asked Conrad
"Yeah but do you really want to leave y/n alone with this conner freakshow?"
"And see Belly making out with Cam Cameron? no way!" said Jeremiah
"Come on... I know you want to."
"Ugh fine!" said Conrad "lets go."
Tumblr media
It was pitch dark at the drive-in, Barbie playing on the screen. Belly and Cam were in the back talking, and whispering. Y/n, and Conner were in the front seat, conner with his arm around y/n, and her head on his shoulder.
"Can you guys be quiet? we're trying to watch the movie?" asked y/n as she looked towards the back.
"Your no fun?" said Belly as she playfully shoved you.
"Your getting Cherry Coke all over my car!" yelled out Conner in a playful manner, but it didn't seem playful.
'Conner, chill." you said "She just a teenage girl."
"I know but did she have to come with us?" Whispered Conner "I mean..."
"She's my best friend Conner."
"She's 15 years old." said Conner "You shouldn't be hanging around with 15 year olds."
"That's it. I have had enough." you said as you get out of the car, slamming the door making Cam, and belly shrug their shoulders.
"What is wrong with you?!" shouted Conner as he came running behind you as you were speed walking away from the scene.
"Away from you!" you yelled before walking away again, that was the moment that you saw Conner's true colors.
He placed his hand on you arm, tightly swing you around to face him. Terrified to your core at his sudden move.
"Listen here, you are going to be a good girl and walk back to the car if you don't want anything bad to happen."
"Get your hands off her!"
you turned around, and saw Conrad trailing behind you.
"This doesn't apply to you." said Conner "Now go!"
"She not going anywhere with you, Jeremiah go get Belly and Cam they don't need to be hanging around this guy."
Jeremiah Nodded his head before walking away, Conrad facing you again, checking you over.
"Your ok?" asked Conrad "He didn't hurt you did he?" You shook your head.
"Go wait in the car." said Conrad as he looked Conner stern in the eye you followed his command walking away from the situtation.
"This isn't a place to fight man but what you did tonight really hurt her."
"Shes my girlfriend, she told me all about you and how you dumped her last summer." said Conner "You really think you are the guy for her huh?"
"Oh I know I'm the guy for her, and because of what you did... You deserve this."
With that, Conrad punched Conner in the face which resulted him into breaking his nose.
"Dude you broke my nose!"
"Be glad that was all that you have broken."
With that Conrad left
Tumblr media
"How long has this been happening?" asked Conrad
"Ever since we broke up..."
"What else has he done to you?" Asked Conrad concerned
"I don't want to talk about it..." you said "Can you please hold me?"
"Of course."

I Didn't Expect You Part 4 ~ Conrad Fisher
Tumblr media
(Part 3) (Masterlist) (Part 5)
gif credit @laurens-german
synopsis: Y/N never expected it to be the summer that everything changed. Conrad, Belly and Steven were all dealing with the consequences of recent break ups while Jeremiah's wasn't acting like himself. Susannah was undergoing treatment that provided unpredictable health results and kept her loved ones on the edge of tragedy. Had they drained the well of the magic of Cousin's beach? Or could something new fulfil it again?
warnings: multichapter slow burn, warnings will update with every chapter, timeline is both POST S2 and a retelling of S2 with changes, everyone swears A LOT, 4th of July party, ANGST between Jeremiah/Conrad, ANGST between Conrad/Y/N, Nicole (sorry to this Queen), Conrad's friend Danny (made him into my own thing), hints of Belly/Jeremiah, I don't know shit about sports
word count: 4,141
___________________________________________
I feel like no one wants me
And I hate the way I'm perceived
I only have two real friends
'Cause I love people I don't like
All I did was try my best
Ego crush is so severe
God, it's brutal out here
Got a broken ego, broken heart
I decided I needed sustenance before heading into the lion's den and popped a bacon wrapped scallop in my mouth. Nicole sidled up next to me in no time, refilling her plate.
"Someone's got game." Her voice was low, unassuming and her eyes were focused on the desserts when I looked at her.
I almost spit out my margarita, "You're kidding, right?"
She giggled, "Nuh uh. I got to watch you in action twice now. Danny was eating out of the palm of your hand and even Cam looked weak."
"OhmiGod, Cam is Belly's ex!"
Nicole shrugged, "Okay, fair but I don't blame you for Danny cause he's definitely been working out." Our eyeline shifted to where he was laughing with Jeremiah and Steven.
"He's at school for a baseball scholarship, of course he works out." Her look of unabashed thirst would never not amuse me.
"Fuck, that's so hot." She looked like she was about to swallow her tongue.
Without another word Nicole walked off in his direction and I smiled as I watched her get her flirt game on and trail her fingers up his bicep. My mind drifted back to the house as I downed the last of my margarita before I headed inside to poke the bear.
He was in the kitchen, drinking from a dark liquor bottle when I walked in. His sullen eyes met mine for a long moment, "Where's your boyfriend?"
"Would you shut the fuck up for like a second?" The words were out of my mouth before I could stop them as I leaned against the island on my palms. Conrad rolled his eyes and turned his body away from me. That set me off again, "Since when the fuck do you talk so much anyway? My god the stupid fucking shit that flies–"
He put his bottle down, "Since when the fuck so you swear so much?" It was disconcerting how much calmer he was than me. It spurred me on.
"Since you, asshole!" I didn't even realize how angry I was until the words came flying out and the adrenaline spiked higher. "Since you make me so fucking mad I wanna tear my own hair out! And I thought we made progress the other night. How fucking stupid am I?" I took a long breath and felt the heat prickle my cheeks. I should have brought in another frozen margarita.
The look on Conrad's face changed and his voice went soft, "You've never been stupid a day in your life."
"Fuck you, I'm not done!" I wasn't done being pissed at him for trying to ruin a perfectly good day. "Do you even know who asked me to come in after you? Your friend, Danny. Sweet Danny who was genuinely worried that he hurt your feelings, you fucking–"
His eyes narrowed cruelly, "Oh, poor sweet Danny who wrangled an invitation to 4th party just to drool all over you apparently."
"Are you seriously fucking jealous right now?"
Conrad's mouth snapped shut as his eyes widened in panic for a second and I couldn't have cared less, "I didn't want to steal his attention away from you, Conrad. I was just saying hi…you know, like a nice person."
"Mhm. I'm sure he's got lots of ideas of how you can be nice to him." He took another swig from his bottle.
I couldn't even look at him anymore so I squeezed my eyes shut until I could. "Jesus, I'm not gonna date your friend, okay?!? Not if really you don't want me to."
When I opened my eyes Conrad looked shocked, "What? Seriously?"
It was the last thing I was expecting and I could feel myself start to calm down finally, "I mean, yeah. If it bugs you that much."
I could tell he was thinking about it. "Y/N…"
"Unless it really was the stupid fucking baseball shit." It was the shift in his tone of voice. I couldn't handle it.
Conrad paused, "I mean, he is a fucking liar. It's…" I spluttered a laugh and couldn't even hear his very important correction. "What? It's true." Conrad shrugged miserably and placed his bottle back on the counter.
I thought about Danny's request when I said, "I'm sure it is. I just have no idea what you're talking about."
Conrad rolled his eyes and I sighed.
"How is it I've known you my whole life and I never knew the absolute stats nerd hidden under that 90s heartthrob hair?" The second I walked into that kitchen I could barely believe the words coming out of my mouth. I was cutting myself off from another margarita even though I wanted it.
"You think I'm a 90s heartthrob?" He was leaning on the other side of the island and peering at me quizzically. I thought I could even see the hint of smirk under his misery.
"Ohmigod, that's what you got from that?" My face was screwed up in disbelief. His ego had no bounds.
"Uh, that was definitely the most important part."
"Oh so you're a delusional nerd too?" This was better than sulking Conrad or angry Conrad but only by an inch.
He paused and shrugged like he was shaking off the rest of his sour mood. And then I felt him focus his stare directly at me in a way I'd never experienced. I didn't have to look up at him to know what I'd find. Was this the shameless confidence that Belly always talked about? The silence was bad enough. He always did that; said the thing I least expected or never said anything at all after I did. He'd just wait and look at me, expectantly until I felt like I couldn't breathe.
The silence was never comfortable so I mustered the last bits of my courage and looked him square in the face, "Not everyone is flirting with you, Conrad."
His smile grew for the first time since he thought he was on a winning streak in the pool. The unsettling thing about it was it seemed like he knew something I didn't. Conrad was nodding and considering the statement as he stepped around the island to stand in front of me on the other side.
I gasped softly when his eyes flashed back to mine and muttered, "You sure?" He lingered in the moment and I felt a calloused fingertip graze the back on my hand gripping the island countertop. Just when the static in my brain started the clear and I could breathe again, Conrad leaned into my ear to whisper,
"Or do you save that for Danny now?"
He stayed close but he had to be drunker than I thought and fucking with me again so I took a breath and tried not to take the bait. Maybe it was my turn to say the thing he least expected for once. I didn't want to have to look him in the eye again after that, "I…you know, sometimes I can't tell and it's unintentional. Danny probably did the same thing. He's just a nice guy."
He scoffed and took a step back. "Sure. Not like you'd notice either way."
I looked at him then and shook my head in confusion, "What is that supposed to mean?"
Conrad opened his mouth as he stepped closer again but was shocked into place when he heard his brother calling for him from the other room. "Connie!"
He had the decency to look at me apologetically before directing him to the kitchen. When I saw Jeremiah's expression was serious and fixed on Conrad, I used that opportunity to make my exit. I took a few minutes in the bathroom to splash some water on my face and assess the pink hue in my skin as flush or sunburn. It didn't take long before I started to hear raised voices. I debated whether to investigate or leave them to it, if it was even the Fisher brothers at all, but when I thought about how Susannah wouldn't be able to deal with it like she always did, I knew I had to make sure it wouldn't get out of hand.
I caught pieces of the story as I walked back towards the kitchen. Susannah and Adam had been separated for a year now but he'd helped throughout as he should. He helped more than he did when they were together if Conrad was telling the truth. I heard Jeremiah accuse Conrad of scaring Adam away from the party altogether. It was true, Adam Fisher was nowhere to be found for the first time since I could remember. It was strange to think about now when he'd showed up for a few short hours the year before.
Jeremiah's tone was firm. "What gave you the right?"
"Get over it, Jere. They're not even together anymore." In contrast, Conrad sounded like this was the last conversation he wanted to have.
"You think I don't know that?"
"This is Mom's house and her party. You really think she wants him here?"
"I think she wanted him at Thanksgiving and Christmas and when the treatment got really bad in the Spring too. Oh, but that's right you had finals and weren't around much then, moping around after you screwed things up with Belly." My eyes squeezed shut at the dig. This could escalate badly.
"Fuck you, you know I came home every second I could!"
"I was there every day!"
"Okay?! Okay! What do you want, a medal?" I hoped the breath I huffed wasn't audible enough for them to hear.
Jeremiah shook his head out of the corner of my eye, "Did you even ask her? Cause you're right, this is her party and she should have decided. Not you." The footsteps were heavy across the tile as he left and I heard the door slam behind him.
Conrad sighed. "You heard every word of that, didn't you?"
I winced and came out of hiding around the corner to see him leaning heavy on the island like it was the only thing holding him up at this point. His liquor bottle of choice was abandoned by the sink. "I'm sorry...but not every word and I didn't mean to, I swear. I was just in the bathroom."
"It's okay. It's not your fault. Actually it's my fault. As per usual." He didn't move from his spot as his eyes carved holes into the countertop.
"Don't say that." My heart ached for him without my permission. Maybe Conrad fucked up by not inviting Adam or telling him not to show up at all but some of what Jeremiah said was unfair. And it wasn't hard to see that his brother was taking every word to heart no matter what.
"Why not? It's true. It's the only fucking thing I'm good at anymore." He looked up finally, lost.
"Connie, come on."
The words seemed to shock him out of his emotional spiral. His brows raised and while the smile on his face was immediate, it fell just as quick, "I can't remember the last time you called me Connie."
"I think I do, actually." Apparently it was infectious because now I was smiling at a memory I thought I'd lost.
When I looked his way again, he was watching me expectantly with the hint of that same sweet smile on his face. It was the least I could do since he seemed interested in the distraction from his own thoughts.
"There was this girl in my freshman year named Connie and I remember thinking it was hilarious that it was a girl's name. Kinda gross of me, honestly."
"I would say," he interrupted but was still listening.
"Do you wanna hear the story or not?" His hands raised in defeat as he chuckled. "I told Belly I was gonna torture you with it that summer; calling you every famous Connie I could come up with. TV characters and political figures but she got really upset and said you'd be mad so 'please don't'. So I tried to forget about it entirely so I wasn't tempted."
When I looked up again, Conrad was looking at me with an expression I couldn't quite figure out so I kept on. "And it must have worked too because I forgot about it until this second."
He nodded slowly, "Does that mean I get to call you Y/N/N again?"
I rolled my eyes at the old nickname and conceded, "I guess it's only fair."
We ended up heading back towards the party and paused to look outside sliding door windows at the view of the patio. He nudged me, "So you've grown to like my name."
I didn't need to look at him to know he was trying to shift his mood before we went back to everyone who was oblivious about what had gone down inside. "Damn, the confidence with which you said that completely inaccurate statement."
"Mm, say it again." He muttered and I shot him a glare so fast I couldn't believe he kept talking. "But softer."
My patience was battling against the need for physical violence but I let it out verbally. "Maybe try therapy if that gives you a nerdgasm." I was gonna get a lot of traction out of this nerd thing.
"Exposure therapy maybe." The mood shift was successful if I could base it on his teasing tone and goofy smile.
"I said I wasn't flirting with you, dummy." I didn't mean to bring it up again since it wasn't that serious but it wasn't the only thing I'd said that I was gonna regret after the fact.
Conrad scrunched his face in disbelief, "That's definitely not what you said. Actually, we decided you wouldn't know if someone was flirting with you. Case in point."
I could barely listen to him anymore and I gestured for him to quit it. "Fine, whatever, I'm saying it now. Not flirting. Can we move on?" I knew he was looking at me then but I refused to do the same.
"No." His response was immediate and I saw him register the shock, like it even surprised him a little that he'd said it.
I didn't have a choice then and could only gape in his direction, eyes struck wide by his stubborn streak.
Conrad turned to me and stepped closer like he'd made a decision. "Even if you weren't, I was. And I want you to know so I'm telling you now, straight up, to your face, so later you can't explain it away or pretend I didn't…flirt with you."
And that's when I realized he did know something I didn't. I was such an idiot. He broke his steady gaze for a second and chuckled, "I didn't mean to at first and then…I don't think I can stop now."
If all that wasn't enough, he wasn't done. "I don't want to." Conrad leant close then and his voice dropped an octave, "I mean, why does he get to when I can't?"
I heard the sliding door shift open and closed but didn't see it from my frozen state, staring at a corner piece of the door frame. I sucked in an unsteady breath and looked up just in time to see him look back at me from the edge of the pool, quickly before he jumped in.
My nerves were shot and despite the cool air inside the house compared to the heavy July sun, my hairline was damp. My mind was blank and racing at the same time; no thought coherent in the slightest so I shut it down completely. No more thinking, not that I could think myself out of this one anyway. I waited until I could breathe normally and wasn't overheating from the inside before I stepped back out to the patio and steered directly to the drinks table for my third frozen margarita.
The rest of the party was fairly uneventful in comparison but still great. No more drunken drama or broken family heirlooms to Belly's great relief. In fact, I found a lot of peace watching her for the rest of the night; giggling with her friends, swimming until her limbs cramped up and flirting with Jeremiah if I could read the signals right. He seemed elated by the development and I let myself be happy for them instead of diving into the complications of that potential. No more thinking.
At one point, I watched Conrad grab Danny's shoulder, both of them nursing their last beers of the night, and mutter something to him that looked serious enough to be an apology. Danny shook his head with a smile and gripped him in a fierce hug. I didn't even realize I was smiling at the sight until Danny's eyes caught mine and he mouthed a grateful 'thank you'. It was so sweet I had to put down my margarita and rethink my life choices. I caught Aunt Laur and Susannah sitting together and seeing it too: Laurel pouted her bottom lip at her friend and Susannah's eyes sparkled with unshed tears.
When the party got to the point of only relying on the patio and pool lights, I distracted myself with the first steps of organized clean up. Steven joined me not long after, saying that he needed an excuse for a quiet task to keep his hands busy. Usually I would have pressed for more information but I was surviving off fumes by that point. Maybe everyone was. Nicole and Danny stopped by to say goodbye and thanked us for a great party. I hugged them both and looked around to realize that it was only the family left after that. Jeremiah and Belly said something about how they'd make up for their clean up crew shift in the morning and were nowhere to be found after that.
Eventually, when Susannah's porcelain serving platter almost slipped from my hands and into pieces on the kitchen floor, Laurel told me I'd done enough and shooed me upstairs. I debated washing the day off before I crashed into bed but worried I'd actually fall asleep under the warm spray. I'd just managed to get into a baggy Cousin's Rowing t-shirt and sleep shorts before I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
It was the creak of the old wooden drawers of Belly's dresser that pulled me out of deep slumber. The room was bright with sunlight shining through the curtains and I had slept right on anyway. I yawned as Belly made a face in my direction and grabbed her crop top.
"I'm sorry! I was just gonna change before I got to the beach. I don't wanna miss the chance on our last day."
"What time is it?" I looked around the room when my phone wasn't on my nightstand like usual. It landed on the end of my bed with a thump.
"After 10. Here. I found it on the kitchen table when I came in last night. Figured I should plug it in for you."
I smiled and saw that it was, indeed, fully charged. "You're sweet."
"The least I could do. You barely left anything for me and Jere to finish up this morning."
"Yeah, I was on a mission." I looked at her smiley face as she pulled her top over her bikini. "So. About you and Jere…"
Belly was never good at hiding things from me and her face screamed guilt even as she tried to shrug it off. "What do you mean?"
"Belly. Come on." She looked at me then, waiting. "You guys hung out all day yesterday and then you left together last night. What's going on there?"
The poor thing looked scared, "You're not mad?"
I rolled my eyes, "Is there something to be mad about? I mean, if you guys like each other…it's not gonna be easy but there are worse things."
"Wow, you should sleep in more often. Oh, don't forget to check the kitchen when you get up. Conrad went out early and got the good muffins."
"Oh, nice. But you're not off the hook about this Jere thing."
She pulled her lip balm out of her pocket and smeared it across her bottom lip. "It's not anything yet. When there's something to tell, I'll let you know."
"You better."
I took a moment to check my phone and saw an unread message from an unknown number. Hey, it's Danny. Jeremiah swore it was cool if he gave me your number so I hope that's okay. It was nice seeing you yesterday. The look on my face must have given me away because Belly was laughing at my expense in almost no time.
"Let me guess. Danny decided to text you after all." She wiggled her brows and giggled.
"Did you know about this?"
"I was there when Jere was trying to convince him. Poor guy actually thought you rejected him because of Conrad." Belly didn't seem to notice if my face reacted to that tidbit. "I told him there wasn't any reason you couldn't come back to Cousin's this summer if you had some good incentive."
She wasn't wrong. It wasn't like I had plans like Steven and Belly. I didn't need to be anywhere until the middle of August. I didn't need to shut everything down before it even started; before giving it a chance to be something to forget about at all. It was a nice thought that was almost immediately ruined by Conrad's look of relief when I told him I'd do the exact opposite. Maybe in a different world where I wasn't leaving for California in five weeks, or if I had any concrete plans of spending more time in Cousin's this summer, I'd feel different. Not to mention that I still didn't have the slightest idea where Conrad's head was at after yesterday and I wasn't sure I even wanted to. The world in which I could be excited about this didn't exist and it was time to make peace with that.
"You know he invited me to his ball game? I can't believe I have to leave before seeing him in those white pants."
"Y/N!" Belly threw her stuffed polar bear, Junior Mint, at my chest and I caught it with a laugh. "I knew you liked him. He got so much hotter this year, I'm a little jealous I didn't get there first."
I gasped dramatically, "I'm telling Jeremiah!"
"I'm kidding…kind of. I mean, I'm definitely leaving but Danny Wilder could inspire a hot girl summer."
"Mm. Period." I looked back at the text and wondered if I should just leave it altogether. My stomach grumbled and it distracted me enough to leave it be for now and wave Belly off to the beach to have her fun.
I shuffled down the stairs to the kitchen after my shower, remembering the muffins Belly said would be waiting for me. The box was on the island like always and I smiled at the small victory. I really should have missed my chance at one, let alone my favourite, coming down after 11am. I opened the box and considered my choices when I heard someone clear their throat. I looked towards the sound and found Conrad standing in the doorway.
"Uh…I uh, saved you a carrot. It's under the cake plate." He gestured to the other side of the counter where it waited for me.
"Oh. Thanks." I walked that way and saw him shift his stance uncomfortably, and look down at his feet. I forced myself to give him the credit he deserved at that moment with a look of sincerity. "You didn't have to do that."
He looked pleasantly surprised, "It's no problem. You uh…call it a thanks for cleaning up last night. My mom really appreciated it."
"Of course. Anything for Susannah."
It was the most polite we'd ever been to each other in our entire lives. I wasn't even sure it was real since there were no witnesses to prove I wasn't making the whole thing up somehow. Belly and Steven would laugh in my face if I told them. But that didn't stop the awkwardness from getting worse by the second and finally I couldn't take it anymore. Conrad looked like he wanted to say something else but I couldn't hear it, whatever it was and I was scared that I already knew. Instead of giving him the chance, I mumbled a quick 'thanks again' and 'see you later' before bolting back upstairs with my carrot muffin in hand and shut the door behind me. I leaned back against it and wondered how I'd avoid whatever that was for the next 24 hours before my time in Cousin's would come to an end.

Can you do more younger sisters I really love that one you did when help her comfort her with her break up you are so freaking talented
I Hate You, I Love You Sturniolo Triplets x Lil Sister One Shot
Summary: An afternoon with the triplets and their little sister.
Notes: N/a
Tumblr media
Their little sister was sat in bed on her laptop. She was happy to have found a couple of hours of peace and quite for herself. She was watching The Summer I Turned Pretty for the second time, infuriated at Belly once again for flip flopping between the brothers.
Her door flung open as Chris walked in watching TikTok on full volume; Pepsi in hand as always. He would have gotten on everyone else’s last nerve but, she was immune to his chaos.
“You watching this again, bro?” he said as he sat on the bed next to her. “Yeah,” she said, not taking her eyes off the screen. He tried to split his attention between his phone and the show, failing miserably. He shut off the phone and threw it across the bed.
They did this a lot. Sitting in silence, scrolling on their phones or watching something on TV. She knew how much he valued quality time and, with the boys back and forth between LA and Massachusetts, they didn’t get to do this a whole lot anymore.
One thing she didn’t miss was the fact that he talked the whole way through TV shows. He could never keep up with what was happening and when he could, he would commentate as if they weren’t watching the exact same thing. A smile tugged at the side of her mouth as she remembered the countless times they’d argued about this exact “quirk” of his when they were younger. She missed it now.
She pulled a bag of popcorn from behind her pillow and shoveled a handful into her mouth. He whipped his head toward her, “you got popcorn?” he asked. She nodded with a mouthful. “Get it over here,” he said playfully.
As the deb ball started, Nick and Matt walked in wondering what was keeping them so quiet.
“What are you watching?” Nick asked.
Without taking his eyes off the screen, Chris pointed and asked “Have you seen this?”
Nick rolled his eyes. Once again, Chris asked a stupid question with zero context clues.
Matt jumped on the bed next to his sister trying to figure out what they were watching. “Is this Bridgerton?” he asked.
Chris burst out laughing. “Are you stupid?” he asked. “What is this?” Matt directed his question to his sister, shoveling a handful of popcorn into his mouth.
“It’s The Summer I Turned Pretty” their sister responded, ignoring their antics and bracing in anticipation for what was to come.
“Oh my god” Nick said in disgust. He plopped himself onto the beanbag in the corner of her room and pulled out his phone.
She was glad he didn’t ostracize himself anymore - he liked their company even if he didn’t like the movie they were watching or the activity they had all agreed upon. He sat on his phone, scrolling Instagram quietly in the corner. What a delightful contrast he was to Chris at the moment.
Chris jumped up abruptly the second he saw Jeremiah crying. “I gotta piss” he said as he strolled out of the room. She didn’t know if he actually had to pee or if he was off put by this first sign of emotion. She didn’t care. It was finally quiet.
“What did I miss?” Matt asked, confused.
“Is she dead yet?” Nick asked.
“Shhh” she hissed, “don’t ruin it.”
“You know you’ve watched before?” Nick asked, laying the sarcasm on thick. She waved a hand at him as she and Matt kept watching intently.
Jimmy walked in and shut the door quietly behind him. He was holding in laughter as he lay down at the foot of her bed. She paused the show and shared a confused glance with Matt.
“What are you doing?” she said.
Jimmy composed himself, “Chris has pissed of your mother”, he said.
She and Matt chuckled. They weren’t surprised. “He was down there for two minutes” Nick chimed in, rolling his eyes.
Jimmy shook his head in agreement. “You’re not going to want to go down there for another hour” he warned as he got up to leave.
“We’ve got food, we’re sorted” Matt said as he restarted the show.
Before he left, Jimmy turned and asked his daughter “did you finish all your homework?”
She hadn’t. She had been watching TSITP since she got home from school but, she lied “Almost.” Chris always told her to keep the lies short if she wanted them to be believable.
“Get it done, kiddo,” he said as he left the room.
She focussed back on the screen in time to see Susannah talking to her boys. Matt was hiding behind a pillow, Nick was pretending he wasn’t listening.
Chris burst back into the room - chaos in his eyes. Matt and his sister were both in tears when she slammed the laptop shut. She turned to see tears rolling down MAtt's cheeks and fell into a fit of laughter - they both did. They felt pathetic crying for fictional characters but, that’s just who they were. They were both emotional, unlike Nick and Chris.
“Why are you crying, you big babies?” Chris said, tyring to instigate something.
“How are you not a diabetic?” she spat out. That sent her and Matt back into a giggle fit. Nick joined in; she had taken the words straight out of his mouth.
“You guys suck” Chris sulked as he put his Pepsi can on the side. His eyes darted between them as as a grin began to inch across his face. She could tell he was transforming into the most annoying version of himself that she, at all costs, tried to avoid.
He picked up her pink fluffy pillow and started swatting at them, laughing hysterically. She pulled the pillow out from behind her and started to hit him back. This was more than a pillow fight, Chris wanted revenge. He never liked being the butt of the joke.
Nick tackled Chris from behind and pinned him onto the bed. As he thrashed around like a feral rabbit in a bear trap, Matt joined in to keep his legs from flailing around.
Their sister knew that a pillow to the head wouldn’t cut it and the only thing she could do to make him call a truce was the tickle him like Jimmy did when they were young. “Dad! Help!” she yelled out the door. He was in her room a few seconds later.
“You gotta tickle him” she said. “Nooooo” Chris screamed, “Truce! Truce! Truce!”
Jimmy ignored him and stuck his fingers into his side, his armpit, the crook of his neck. Chris was tingling all over.
MaryLou rushed in to see what the commotion was and shook her head at the sight. “This is what you get, Chris” she laughed, “actions have consequences.”
“Stop! Stop! I can’t fucking breathe” Chris begged, he was in a better mood now.
“I don’t think I’m gonna move from here for a week,” he said, trying to catch his breath.
“I’ll tickle you all the way to Texas” MaryLou said, still annoyed by godknowswhat.
The kids started laughing at her attempt to make fun of him. If there was one thing that their little sister was certain of it’s that her parents loved them and, even in meaningless moments like watching TV, they found joy and meaning together.

A dating Jeremiah fic?
loving you is so easy | j.fisher x reader
Tumblr media
a/n: thank you so much for the request!! i hope my writing meets the expectations for what’ll be like to date jeremiah!
warnings: mentions of alcohol consumption
dating jeremiah is like waking up and feeling fully rested after weeks of exhaustion. he’s fun and dating him is a constant adventure. there’s never a dull moment between us two. we’re always up to something whether it be driving in the middle of the night with all windows down or it’ll be us snuggling on the couch and giggling with one another.
i lay on my stomach on the smooth surfboard as i feel the waves beneath me sway the board. the salty water from my hair was dripping down my face and the sun was hot on my back.
“are you sure this is a good idea?” i ask jeremiah nervously as he climbs onto the board with me. we both carefully adjust ourselves so we’re both seated,
he shrugs, “probably not but do you trust me? i think it’ll be fun”
“if you say so!” i laugh, he tells me to start paddling and swim we’re both standing on the surfboard together.
it’s extremely unsteady as we both wobble, attempting to keep our balance. but within seconds, we’re both in the ocean. i swim to the surface and burst into a fit of laughter,
“that had to be one of the dumbest things weve done” i tell him as he swims the surfboard towards me, “i can’t believe we were even able to stand on it.”
“makes for a good story though!” he grins before kissing my lips.
dating jeremiah shows me a new sort of love that i never knew existed. after a failed situationship after another, i remember there being a point in my life where i felt like i was unlovable. until i met the curly headed boy. he is loud and proud about us dating, making sure that the whole world knows that we’re together — he never hides it and it’s refreshing.
big, big house parties were never my thing. i was always more of a chill at home with a few friends kind of person rather than going to a huge party. i’m not really sure why but something about being in a small house packed of sweaty and drunk teenagers doesn’t seem very fun to me.
my boyfriend, jeremiah, on the other hand absolutely loves them. he has always been a social butterfly and he loves any opportunity to hang out with new people.
i never really care whenever he goes to parties without me, i trust him. he never pushes me to go to these events either because he knows that i’m not comfortable in these settings. some how today, he convinced me to go.
“come on, baby,” he pleas, “it’ll be fun!”
i shrug, folding up my throw blanket on my half made bed, “i don’t know, jere. you know i’m not big on parties.”
he flops onto my bed and looks up at me with big puppy eyes, “i know babe, but everyone’s been asking to meet you since i talk about you at parties all the time!” he exclaims,
“plus, if you ever feel uncomfortable we can leave right away, no questions asked” jeremiah smiles.
i sigh before nodding my head, “ok fine, only this once though”
he scrambled up and pulls me into a tight hug, spinning us in circles, “god, i love you so much!”
as i got ready for the party, contemplating between a pink or yellow tank top (eventually picking the pink one), i met jeremiah downstairs who was talking to my family.
“you look absolutely gorgeous” he grins, twirling me to get a 360 view, “a goddess.”
my parents awe at the sight before bidding the two of us goodbye as we leave for the party. when we pull up, there’s loud music and talking amongst the tipsy teenagers. jeremiah protectively wraps an arm around my waist as he guides us through the crowd and towards the drinks.
he says hi to a bunch of people we pass by, “oh hey man, this is my girlfriend, y/n” he would proudly say, kissing the top of my head, “isn’t she just the prettiest?”
he opens a drink for me and hands it over before jumping onto the kitchen counter,
“cheers everyone! this one is for my beautiful girlfriend, thank you for coming out tonight, baby! i love you endlessly — have a great night people!” he shouts before hopping off, my face was flushing a bright red before his hands are on my waist.
jeremiah grins at me and pulls me into a passionate kiss in front of everyone. his boys are cheering for us along with some of the girls.
dating jeremiah revealed to me that not all dream-like boyfriends exist only in fiction, but also in real life. he never forgets to message me goodnight, to kiss me goodbye, makes sure that neither of us go to bed upset with the other. jeremiah brings me small gifts that reminded him of me when they’re unexpected. loving him is one of the easiest things i’ve ever done. jeremiah showed me a new sort of love that i never knew existed. he truly is the perfect boyfriend to me and never makes me feel alone. he’s my biggest supporter and is honestly my comfort person.

love sick c.f.
Tumblr media
this book has also been published on wattpad. same username as the one on here. i update faster on there.
you and conrad had a secret relationship two summers ago, when you were 15 and he was 16. you broke up with him because your younger sister, belly had liked him, and you were afraid of hurting her. now, flash forward, you were 17, and you thought you had gotten over him, but maybe you haven’t
iv. deb shopping
part 1 part 2 part 3
i had no clue what was going on with conrad, why he was acting so different this summer, making me wonder what happened to the same conrad who would go on and on about infinity.
i slept in that morning, because of the fact that i stayed up way too late at that bonfire, but i eventually got up since i had work today.
when i went downstairs, dressed in a white lifeguard tank top, and red shorts, laurel, steven, and jeremiah were downstairs.
conrad was on the couch, and jere was making a 'hangover smoothie' for him, while steven was standing behind him, looking over his shoulder.
"do we really have to physically sit for our portraits?" jeremiah complained to laurel. "can't she just- look at a picture on her phone or something?"
"right?" i agreed with him.
jeremiah backed up a little from steven, having enough of him hovering over him. "okay, get out." jeremiah pointed at the door.
steven laughed. "what. why?"
"she needs to see you in the flash to capture you essence." laurel said, fixated on her laptop. "while you're still young, and full of hope."
"so poetic, mom." i joked, while steven and jeremiah laughed.
"her words." laurel rolled her eyes at us with a smile.
"well, conrad does not have hope, actually. he's hopeless." jeremiah insulted, causing me to laugh a little. "but! my hangover smoothie, it cures all."
"can you please just hurry up." conrad rushed him from the couch.
"just go back to bed. alright?" jeremiah shot back to him, and steven started looking over his shoulder again.
jeremiah put a hand on steven's chest. "alright, seriously, steven. get out. this is a delicate science."
"she hasn't painted you since you were little. i think it would be nice to have these portraits for when you're older." laurel added in.
"oh, no." steven joked. "when i'm older, they'd have like, holograms i can watch of myself, you know."
"or, this is why we have technology." i say. "where we have pictures? on our phones?"
jeremiah started the blender, causing conrad to jolt awake.
"just sit for your portraits." laurel told me and steven. "you don't see conrad complaining.
"he'll complain when he's actually conscious." i shot back at laurel.
jeremiah went to the couch and tapped conrad. "hey. here."
"come on, man. hurry your ass up, i can't be late to my first day of work." steven rushed jeremiah. "those little country club boomers are gonna tip me so hard they won't know what hit 'em!"
i made a disgusted look at steven. "ew. steven, i swear."
"come on, y/n." jeremiah laughed. "my boys gotta get that bread."
"stop." i shook my head at him.
i look over to see belly walking in the kitchen, and i give her a small smile.
"good morning." jeremiah says to her in an enthusiastic tone.
"belly, where have you been?" laurel asks her in a serious tone. "is that a bruise."
belly stands next to me and i run my fingers over the bruise. "mom, relax, she tripped when we were at the bonfire and landed on her face." i lied, i knew belly wouldn't wanna tell the actual story
"doesn't look that bad." conrad said from the couch, i look over at him, and made eye contact with him for a few seconds before returning my focus back to belly.
"uh, cereal?" jeremiah asked belly.
"yeah, hit me." belly softly responded.
"oh, my god!" susannah ran into the kitchen. "belly and y/n are going to be debutantes!" she hugged both of us.
belly laughed. "it's really not that big of a deal."
i'd forgotten all about the whole deb thing. it'd be hard trying to balance a summer job and being a deb, on top of that, i'd have to find a date.
"i'm sorry, like those two? my sisters, right there?" steven teased us.
"shut up, cretin!" i shot back.
"okay, this is going to be so much fun!" susannah fantasized. "just you wait. there's the tea, the auction, the- ball, of course.. i gotta write this down. we need to go shopping!"
"this sounds expensive." laurel said.
"oh, don't worry, laur, it's on me." susannah smiled. "it was my idea after all."
"y/n, are you sure you wanna do this?" laurel asked me. "it doesn't seem very you."
in truth, not really. but if it made susannah happy, it made me happy. i had to do it for her.
"it's not." conrad, once again, added his two cents from the couch.
i don't know how he went from how he used to act towards me to.. this.
"conrad, could you please be a little more supportive?" susannah told him. "now, which one of you are gonna be belly or y/n's escort to the ball."
"not me." conrad immediately responded.
"shocker." i say, in a sarcastic tone.
"i went last year." conrad finished his sentence.
"me neither. i swore off balls." jeremiah told us, causing steven to laugh. "the dances dude!" jeremiah said, laughing.
"wow, guys!" i say, sarcastically. "stop fighting over us."
"i'm not going with either of you." belly finally spoke up. "i am going to find my own date.
"it says debutantes require instruction, morals, and social etiquette." laurel read off her laptop.
"i'm going for a swim." conrad leaves through the back door, as i watched him go.
"yeah, y/n could use some etiquette." steven laughed.
"and you wonder why you don't have a girlfriend." i rolled my eyes.
all the sound drowned out as i watched conrad from the window, in his shorts, and no shirt on. i missed how things used to be.
i felt a hand on my shoulder. "you alright, y/n?" jeremiah asked me.
"yeah." i tried push aside anything feelings. "we should probably go soon."
"wait." susannah spoke up. "before you go, we have shopping to do!"
"seriously?" i asked. "i have work. i'm not going shopping."
but that wasn't true. susannah is a really convincing person, so before i knew it, i was shopping around stores with susannah, laurel, and belly, for the debutante thing.
i tried on different dresses, all colors, and different accessory's, hats, sunglasses, and bow, bags over my hands and arms.
then, i had to try on a debutante dress, i found a beautiful white long dress, i loved it, but maybe conrad and laurel were right. this whole thing was not my scene.
what have i done?

It was Belly’s birthday and it was your job as her best friend to come down and celebrate it with her. This was the third time you've gone down to Cousins. Once when you were 7 and the other when you were 13.
Belly had been talking a lot about her and Jeremiah recently on the phone which made you feel both happy for her and relieved for yourself. The time you came down when you were 13, something happened between you and Conrad which made you see him differently.
It was a simple game of Spin the Bottle. A game that sparked an unexpected crush. A small kiss that made you feel guiltiest you’ve ever felt. After that, for Belly’s sake, you ignored Conrad. Whenever he’d try to talk to you, you would look the other way. You knew Belly had feelings for him which is why you put her first and yourself second. That’s also your job as her best friend.
When the bus finally made it to your stop, you grabbed your things and Belly’s gift before making your way off the bus. You were greeted with Jeremiah and Belly waiting for you while smiling. “Happy Birthday, Belly!” You rushed over to her and hugged her as tight as you could.
She laughed while hugging you back, “Hi! I missed you so much!” You two practically squished each other with this hug.
You let go and hugged Jeremiah loosely this time. “Hey, Jere!”
He smiled as he hugged you, “Welcome back, Y/N.”
When you finished your reunion with the two, you turned your attention back to Belly and held out the gift bag for her. “I got you a little something.” You shook the bag while smiling wide. She giggled as she took it out of your hands. “We can open it in the car,” you suggested.
You hopped in the back of Jeremiah’s red Jeep while Belly sat in the passenger seat and Jeremiah sat in the driver’s seat. She opened up the bag and pulled the tissue paper out which revealed the present. “Oh, my God!” Her jaw hung open as she pulled out the maroon colored bikini.
Jeremiah’s face turned red as he stared at the bathing suit. “There’s no way you’re gonna wear that,” he teased.
She shot him a look before turning back to you. “Thank you, Y/N. I love it.”
“Anything for my best friend,” you smiled.

Belly laid on the bed next to you fast asleep. Your head throbbed and your mouth felt dry. The alcohol finally set in hours later when you were sober. You needed some fresh air. You slipped out of bed and crept out of Belly’s room. You shut the door gently behind you as you made your way down the hall and down the stairs. It was pitch black, so you had to feel your way around to make sure you didn’t bump into anything.
The house was silent, the only things you could hear were the waves that came from the ocean outside and the occasional groans from the wooden floor below you as you tiptoed through the house.
You entered the kitchen and opened up the fridge door, the light illuminating the whole kitchen. Your eyes squinted at the sudden bright light before quickly adjusting. It seemed like the fridge was full of everything but bottles of water.
“What're you looking for?” You gasped and turned around to see who else was in the room. There he was, sitting on the counter next to the window while sipping on his beer can. Of course he was there. How did you not notice him? You wanted to go back upstairs without another sentence exchanged, but you also really wanted your water. You decided to just look away and put your focus back on the fridge. He sighed, “Can we just pretend, just for the night, that we don’t hate each other?”
Your heart rate accelerated as you let out a small exhale. “I’m just looking for water. That’s it.”
He let out a hum, “Let me see.” He hopped down and walked over to the fridge, his face now fully lit in the fridge light. He had bags under his eyes like he hadn’t slept in days, he had a cigarette tucked behind his ear, and his breath smelt of alcohol. His arm brushed past you as he stepped in front of you. He reached into the fridge and grabbed a water bottle hidden behind a large carton of orange juice.
He turned to face you while holding out the bottle. He was so close, you watched as his chest rose and fell in rhythm with his breaths. “Thanks,” you said as you took it from his hand. You cracked the top open and took a long sip. Now satisfied, you turned away to head back to Belly’s room. “Can we talk outside?” Conrad asked before you could even make it past the doorway.
You stopped in your tracks and looked back at him, meeting his gaze. You then looked out of the glass doors leading out to the pool. The ripples of the water mixed with the pool lights caused a reflected light to appear on the ceiling. You were just saying how you wanted some fresh air. “Uh, sure.”
He led the way out to the pool deck, he slowly opened the door as to not disturb anyone in the house. You made your outside, sitting down on a chair next to the pool. The view was always beautiful, but you had never seen it at night like this before. The glistening aquamarine pool, the dock strung with lights, the ocean that whispered in the starry night. It was all so beautiful.
Conrad took a seat next to you, whipping out a lighter from his pocket and snagging the cigarette out from behind his ear. He placed it between his lips and lit the end of it. He pulled it out from between his lips and blew out the smoke in an exhale.
He held it out to you, offering you to take a hit. You’ve only smoked a couple of times at parties here and there, so at least you knew what you were doing. You took the cigarette from between his fingers and placed it between your lips. “Why do you hate me, Y/N?” he asked as you blew out cigarette smoke.
You passed it back to him, “I don’t hate you. It’s quite the opposite actually.” You tucked some strands of hair behind your ear. He stared at you, hoping you would say more, but you weren’t about to tell him about Belly’s long time crush on him. It wasn’t your business to tell. “It’s just… I don’t think people would be too happy if they knew how much I don’t hate you.”
He furrowed his eyebrows. “Who cares what anyone else thinks?” The cigarette hung out of his mouth as he spoke. You looked over at him and met his eyes. “Is it because of the kiss?” He took the cigarette out of his mouth, smoke escaping through his nose as he breathed it out.
You stopped breathing as your mind went blank. You looked out at the dock to avoid eye contact with him, “Nah.” Yes. It was. “I don’t really know…”
He chuckled. “It’s fine, you can tell me.”
You looked up at Belly’s window, paranoid that she could hear your whole conversation with Conrad. You looked over at the dock again then back at him. “Can we walk further down?”
“Yeah, sure,” he said. The two of you got up from your seats and carefully walked down the deck towards the dock. The cold Cousins breeze flowed through your hair as you shivered in your oversized t-shirt. This wasn’t the appropriate attire to be wearing on a cool summer night. Then again, you weren’t expecting to spend your time sneaking around with Conrad outside while Belly was asleep.
You finally made it to the end where you felt comfortable to talk. You looked over at him and sighed. “After the kiss, I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” you explained. “Belly wasn’t happy after that because she said she didn’t want either one of us breaking each other’s hearts, so I told her I wouldn’t do anything. That’s when I started ignoring you to somehow make those feelings go away, but it didn’t work.” You stared out into the water while frowning. “I know it was just a stupid kiss and that we weren’t gonna start dating after that, but it was the first kiss with someone that made me feel special. It made me feel like we had a spark.”
He sighed, leaning against the wooden railing. “Yeah…the kiss changed me too,” he said. “I hope you know that you have a kind heart, and you’re smart, and you’re one of the best girls I’ve ever met.” He smiled. “If we can’t date, so be it. That doesn’t mean we have to act like we hate each other.”
You nodded your head. “Yeah,” you smiled. You ran your hand against the wooden railing. Before you could pull your hand away, a splinter stuck into your finger deep. You winced as you pulled your hand away swiftly.
“You alright?” He grabbed a hold of your wrist to see your hand. That’s when you both saw how deep the sprinter was. “Let me see if I can get it out,” he said. He attempted to grab it with his fingers, but they were too big to keep a hold of the small wooden splinter. “I’m pretty sure my mom had a pair of tweezers somewhere.”
You nodded your head as the two of you made your way back inside the house. He quietly shut the door behind you two and snuck up the stairs. This was risky, especially if Belly caught you now. That motivated you to stay quiet. You followed him into his mom’s bathroom, shutting the door behind you two. He turned the light on and began searching through her drawers to find her tweezers. You sat down on the toilet seat lid, looking around the beautiful bathroom. The white tiles on the floor, the ceiling pattern, the shower curtain. It all screamed Susannah.
Conrad finally found the tweezers and leaned down in front of you. “This might sting a bit, okay?” You nodded your head. He then pinched the spot where the splinter was, causing you to harshly suck air through your teeth. Then, the pain was over. “Got it.” He threw away the splinter piece and put the tweezers away.
“Thanks,” you said.
“Anytime,” he smiled in response.
