Ongoing Series - Thai

Sweet Tooth Good Dentist (Fri iQIYI) ep 1 of 12 - Bite me. Of course I fucking adore this. It's exactly the style of BL I like best in the world. I love everything about it including that the dentist is unhinged. Will it push "worst trope" buttons or stay safe? Either way its gonna be fun. Mark is doing a killer job (and looks STUNNING). Plus Jimmy is gonna show up? I'm all in.

Perfect 10 Liners (Sun YT) ep 21 of 24 - I love FaifaWine so much. How am I gonna judge this show when I feel so differently about each pair? 

Top Form (Thurs WeTV) ep 1 of 10 - Adaptation of a yaoi starring Boom (Chains of Heart) and Smart (Don't Say No). And... it’s fine. I like the leads quite a bit. There is a part of me though, that wishes this was getting a JBL treatment rather than Thai. I like that it’s gonna be longer this way, but the subject matter just feels more Japanese. The show is engaging enough despite this, or perhaps because of it. It’s interesting to watch Thailand tackle Japanese IP since there is built in stylistic tension. Right now it it is ill-fitting, like a shrunken suit. But it might turn out to be Velcroed on, and suddenly split open or be torn off, so I'm hypnotized. All in all, this is not what I was hoping for, but I'll keep watching if I can (I no longer have VIP status on WeTV). 

Flirt Milk (Sat YT) ep 9 or 10 - I think the reason I really dislike the main couple is how truly childlike the uke character is. It’s not kinky, it’s just creepy. I like the second pairing of "arrogant asshole and ultra tsundere uke".

And.... suddenly everybody is getting it on. Of course I like the whole show better now but it’s taken too much to get here and we arrived rather precipitously.

My Golden Blood (Weds iQIYI) Ep 2 of 12 - I’m gonna say it. In addition to not having much chemistry, I don’t think the leads are doing a good job in their roles. They either need to be more campy or less. Joss is pretty darn wooden, but that’s nothing new. So it's Gawin who is disappointing me. He seems to be directed to become something very against his nature, so much so it's an awkward screen presence. It’s all rather unpleasant to watch. It can’t be just me feeling this. Right?

Lost in the Woods (Weds Gaga) ep 1 of 7 - Started with singing which I was not happy about. I also really dislike the main character. I’m not wild about the actor either. I’m not sure if I can watch this show.

Ossan‘s Love Thailand (Mon YouTube) ep 11 of 12 - Already one of the worst shows in BLandia and they just had to put in the amnesia trope! (Insert all & every expletive here. Only don't, because I can't even get worked up about it.) Worst trope ever. What am I supposed to do with myself? This is untenable. Yes yes I could drop it. But with only one more ep, and a serious sunk cost fallacy in play, I am seeing this bullpucky through to the better end.

But I am very bitter about it.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Secret Relationships (Korea iQIYI) ep 4 of 8 - It has taken me half the damn show to realize it, but this is Korea doing messy gays! I didn’t recognize, because we so rarely get this trope from KBL. How exciting. I don’t normally like toxic and messy, but I guess I like it now because this show is sending me. Yes yes it's unhinged but for soem reason I'm okay with it.

7 years (SEVEN YEARS) of these insane hyungs sniffing round this poor little gay baby like he's the chosen one in some harem m/m/m/m. It is wild! But I also do finally see why they all like Da-on so much. Good kiss but also... no kissing drunk baby!

Exclusive Love (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 7 of 12 - The sides are the only thing that matter in this show. I have taken a stance. Also I LOVE Ian. I had him for 5 seconds and will move mountains for him. 

Fight for Love (Vietnam YT) ep 7 end - WAY too much singing. Sigh. But otherwise a fine end.

Summary

A cute but soapy piece from Vietnam about a rich kid with a crush on a busker (who already has relationship problems). Pretty standard chaotic Vietnamese romcom with unhinged characters and a mildly incomprehensible plot about a boy who wants to be a singer and another boy who is in love with him + various exes. It’s fine if you have nothing else to do. (Which seems to be about how the music boy felt about the dude he ended up with.) 7/10

Checkered Shirt (Korea YT) ep 7 of 8 - again I either missed it or it didn’t drop. I'm struggling with YT these days.

It's airing but......

Sashes and Hearts (Pinoy YT) 13 eps - Philippines is doing Drop Dead Gorgeous only all gay boys queening their asses off. Doesn't interest me, not sure if it's BL.

Last Meal Universe (Thai ????) 8 eps - An alien who has come to destroy earth instead falls in love with Thai food and then the Thai boy who cooks it - realistic, actually. I got a link to watch but it still wouldn't work for me, so I guess I'm waiting to see what happens.

Bad Buddy - my first rewatch and I gotta say, I think this one was BETTER for me on a rewatch! Such a great show. I would go so far as to say this might be the best Thai BL as an example of OG Thai Uni BL. It just perfect a classic. You just have to like the classics.

Supposed to have completed filming in 2022, the fact this has been in dev hell since then somewhat mitigates this being my most anticipated BL of it's original year.

I just will never get used to elfshi's hands being Like That. But it's also kinda nice to see him and Izutsumi working along so nicely! Like, don't even get me started on how Izu is presented as the pickiest eater of the party (Marcille has been dethroned severely) and usually you'd see that presented as a Hassle, but here in DM, Senshi doesn't even bat an eye. He knows and respects Izutsumi's tastes and preferences and works his meals out around it! That's such a based thing for him to do. <3

This is a renaissance painting. (I love it when they adapt Ryoko Kui's visual gags and I LOVE when she does zoomed in faces like this. Truly one of the artists ever)

I did not have "Laios gets Pissed On" on my bingo card but every day I grow more and more convinced that the animators KNOW what they're doing and - OH MY GOD IS THAT SENSHI'S DWUSSY. ELFSHI ALTERNATIVE TO PANTY SHOT.

Ah, yes, Izutsumi sprawls all over them when sleeping, we been knew, again it's a little unexpected to see it front and center but I guess it works to demonstrate them returning to - THAT WAS LAIOS??? AND CHILCHUCK IS JUST LIFTING HIS LEG LIKE THAT?? OKAY THEN. SURE.

I'm so glad they kept this. One of the silliest touden siblings moments. 10/10 no notes. Also, Falin is never beating the blunt force trauma allegations.

I know they're really fucking competent, I mean, Namari and Toshiro are already described as pretty formidable warriors (and we've seen it), and Kabru is... admittedly much more geared to fight humans but he's a decent fighter either way. And a good leader!

Speaking of, where the fuck is everyone else.

I know they're meant to be scary (and I suppose they are! If we have the reference that, firstly, marcille is an excellent spellcaster so these elves could be just as good in their own areas of expertise, yes?, and secondly, the canaries are Well Known)

... plus, Namari, Toshiro and Kabru are wary of them. Namari, Toshiro and Kabru are wary of them.

Anyway, while we wait for the next season (WHICH HAS BEEN GREENLIT! WOHOO!), have these wonderful images of chicken falin being a cathedral painting (...if cathedrals ever added dragons, i guess) and my beloveds, who have finally returned!

Not to overanalyze a joke (I would never do that), but this moment from the fucking penguin short says a lot to me about Blitz and Moxxie's relationship and why it's so rocky.

Moxxie: I first read this interaction as Moxxie messing with Blitz, not gonna lie. But after some reflection, I don't think he is at all. Based on how fucking dialed in to every single task Moxxie gets (think all of Unhappy Campers or how carried away he gets with paying the street vendors in Seeing Stars), I think he's just so fixated on taking the notes Blitz is dictating that he completely fails to realize when Blitz's comments start to be not for the notes.

I think it also reveals a way in which Moxxie fundamentally doesn't understand Blitz. As the audience, we can tell right away that when Blitz switches to complaining, it's not for the notes. But I could see Moxxie viewing Blitz as sort of unpredictable/chaotic and truly not knowing that he wouldn't want it included. Will he yell at me for not including it? Don't know. Better be thorough to do a good job! And then he gets yelled at for including it. Poor guy.

Even though he's often critical of Blitz, Moxxie relies on Blitz's approval for his self-esteem a lot. So he's used to getting yelled at by his boss, but it still hurts him.

Blitz: Okay, our guy has a short temper in general, but especially with Moxxie. From his perspective, Moxxie is doing something completely nonsensical, and yes, beyond stupid.

At the beginning of the penguin short, it's clear that Blitz doesn't want to do this job. He thinks that what the client wants is pointless, and besides, they have to go somewhere freezing. And we get quite a few clues that he's been feeling down about the whole Stolas situation and he's not excited to work any job, much less this one. And in the midst of all that, Moxxie is making a mess of the notes, so now it will have to be fixed. It's very annoying.

Also, Moxxie often has this air of superiority with Blitz. He likes calling out Blitz for having stupid plans, and he often comes across as judgmental. In Truth Seekers, we saw that he feels like Moxxie is smarter than him and/or judging him. So his annoyance might also relate to the idea that Moxxie is both judgmental and always fucking up.

If we want to stretch it a bit (yes, I know it's a stretch), Blitz is relying on Moxxie for accurate and quick notes because if Blitz's dyslexic ass did it himself they'd be a mess. He doesn't want to spend time fixing his own work OR Moxxie's work.

In all: No, I don't think this is a big moment in the plot by any stretch. I just think it's a really funny and interesting way to highlight some aspects of their dynamic, especially since the short later sets them against each other in *cough* other areas.

As a final thought, there are absolutely conflicting trauma responses impacting the friendship/working relationship between these two, and very likely differing neurodivergences as well. Blitz for sure needs to apologize to Moxxie for how he treats him, but Moxxie could maybe stand to explain and possibly adapt some of his behaviors as well. (Get all these characters good mental healthcare please.)

watching the new CVV interview with Bayley and i love it and i love her even more now here's some takeaways from it (i know a lot of you prob already know this but my love/appreciation for Bayley is relatively new so this is all new to me):

-AJ Lee was a heavy influence for Bayley growing up and potentially saved her from getting fired when B was struggling to adapt to WWE's work culture + her own identity (i.e not fitting in with the other Divas)

-the story behind the birth of Hugger Bayley (she hugged AJ Lee once during a match and the crowd popped so hard AJ told her to do it two more times but to run her into the post too)

-she's been struggling finding herself/her character as a face. she knows fans haven't responded to her recent character work/runs because of that and it frustrates her but she's trying her best. she also acknowledged her post WM 40 run wasn't what she hoped it would be.

-talks very very positively about Lyra and knowing that if she left now she's leaving the women's division in great hands

-alludes to there being a larger problem behind her 2020 (or was it 2021) injury and credits that to why she was out longer than usual. also says that because of that injury there's a lot of things she can't do as well anymore (running/jumping etc)

-talks about why she changed her finisher after turning face. it's easier on her body and though she didn't say it outright, i got the feeling it affects her when people talk about how much they hate her current finisher :(

-talks about her special relationship with Michael Cole and how she loves talking to him/giving him notes about things they could do/say when she has matches. talks about you can't always be guaranteed to be able to talk to Triple H but Cole having such a wealth of information that not many people tap into but she genuinely loves working with him even when they rip on each other.

-(at chris's prompting) she does express frustration with feeling there's a lack of respect from the IWC towards her. "What am i missing? ...That's the one thing that still gets to me...." she talks about despite being one of the four Horsewomen (and wrestling Charlotte's first ever match and being signed to the company before Becky) that she still doesn't feel like she's on their level.

-Chris: "After the Rumble last year CM Punk said something like 'put some respect on her name'" Bayley: "yeah" (laughs) Chris: "He had a really good point. You won the Royal Rumble and you're not even in the press conference." Bayley: "yeah. Yeah. There's a lot of moments like that, I feel like. I don't get on the press conference, I don't get on the (WM 40) posters, I don't get to do the talk shows--you know, I don't know what else to do. And there's no heat backstage or anything like that. (talks about her good relationships with Hunter etc...)" Chris: "And how do you not take that personally? You're being told you're winning the RR and you win and do the point and everything. " Bayley: "Yeah." Chris: "And then it's like, 'what now?'" Bayley: (not making eye contact) "I know. It's like....by the time comes out this is gonna be even...um..." Chris: "What does that mean?" Bayley: (laughs) "It's hard. It's hard. Sometimes I think that's what keeps me here (holds her hand flat to measure up to mid-level). Is because I don't go freaking kicking doors down going, "I'm not doing that. Why would I do that? I'm fucking Bayley, why would I do that??' But I don't do that. Whatever they give me--and I learned this from Cena and from Rey--whatever they give you, it's like--make it work. So that's always what I've tried to do. And I'll come up with ideas and pitches and I've learned that like sometimes if you get told whatever the creative is and you're not happy with it and then i go and say 'hey, what if we do this instead?' and then they say no. I feel worse after that than i felt after the original creative. And then I'm like 'okay how bad do i want to feel today' or 'should i just accept what they gave me?' or should i just make it as best as i can and then they'll be like "damn, she made that work! let's go this way instead!"

listen if this is all groundwork for her turning heel again (which I doubt bc she genuinely looked and sounded like she was speaking from the heart/ repressing emotion even though she spoke so respectfully) then i'll happily let myself get worked over this but at the same time she deserves so much better and all the respect <3 :(

Rant time?

Okay, so I watched the Netflix DMC show. I usually don't really share my opinions on things but... well...

This will most likely be a mini-rant of sorts, feel free to skip this. Also:

SPOILERS WARNING! (for pretty much all episodes as I have binged it all)

I don't really want to be too negative here, that isn't really my intention, but I can't guarantee I will have many good things to say either. You have been WARNED.

So after watching all of the episodes, gosh, I have so many questions I don't even know where to begin with this.

I started watching this with a neutral attitude. I didn't really have any high expectations or anything. I was kind of expecting to be disappointed to be honest. It is what it is after all.

Okay, let's start off with the things I did like and enjoy:

The art! I feel like the style and animation were really nice (the 3d demons were honestly not as bad as I initially thought they would be LOL).

Dante.

The White Rabbit. When I first saw him I was pretty excited and honestly I think he delivered (even though he is completely different than the bunny from the OG source material, like many characters). I enjoyed the moments with him the most out of all.

ARIUS AND LUCIA MENTIONED!!!! Outside of the fact Lucia being really pale which threw me off like hell, I'm happy to see those two again (but maybe it's just my DMC2 loving heart... maybe).

And... that would be about everything I remembered liking about it. Do keep in mind I have issues remembering things a lot of the time and so my brain might have skipped over some parts.

Now, what I didn't like? Pretty much everything else. But let's just get over some points that I think confused/annoyed me the most:

I think we need to address the elephant in the room and that is... Lady. Girl... what have they done to you 😭 Maybe it's just me, but this version of Lady was just... a very annoying bitch? And why, oh why, must she say "fuck" in literally every single sentence that comes out of her mouth? I don't mind characters swearing, don't get me wrong, I think Lady could totally swear every now and then without feeling OOC, I just think THIS was a bit of an overkill. It made it very hard to even try and enjoy her character for me personally.

The... uhh... enemy choices. Why the hell were Agni and Rudra there? Why the hell was Cavaliere Angelo there?! Huh?!

The setting (time-wise). I just can't tell when this is taking place or how old are the characters supposed to be. Some things lead me to believe this is set in a pre-DMC3 type of time, but then we have things like Vergil being Nelo Angelo already? Not even mentioning Dante getting his DT so early. And all those DMC5 references and outfits also threw me off. But again, maybe it's just me.

Making the 'good demons' + all/most humans bad was definitely a choice, alright.

Arkham better come back, that's all I'm gonna say.

America colonizes hell. America. Colonizes. Hell. HUH. (This made me laugh more than anything.)

I could probably go on for longer, but I really don't want to. I feel like it'd be pointless, besides most of the things I said had probably already been said by someone else and put together in a better way than I ever could. This is all purely my opinion and feelings.

My other gripe with this show is that it just focuses on all those, kind of out of nowhere, political points way too much. The whole demons good, humans (america) bad, it just feel so... odd? The DmC (reboot) game had way better groundwork for what they were going for here, I think. If it was an adaptation of the reboot instead, I would've perhaps enjoyed it more.

Overall, the Netflix DMC wasn't bad. It was nowhere near horrible as its own thing. But here is the key point: as its own thing. An AU of sorts. As an adaptation of the games it just doesn't really work, it's confusing. Or am I just a big dummy for not understanding a thing that was happening, trying to connect it to what I know and remember from the other media?

They have changed so much about the world and characters I don't even know what to fully think about it to be honest.

Okay let's get this over with. Time for the final thoughts.

My overall rating? I'd give it about 5/10 enjoyment wise. If you ignore the source material, throw it out the window and just not think much about what is happening, I guess it is a decently enjoyable watch. But as far as adaptations go, the 2007 anime did a FAR better job.

Will I watch the next season/s? Probably. Now that they have shown Arius, I want to see what they do with him (I am desperate for any crumbs of my babygirl... same for Lucia). But will I interact with this much (make fanart, talk about it)? No, probably not. (Okay, maybe a few drawings of Mr Easter Bunny will be made- 👀)

Anyways, I've put out my two cents here, sorry if this was hard to read, messy or if I simply overlooked/mixed up some things. My brain is kinda all over the place right now and I don't feel the best. Now that that's over, I'm off to go play Kenshi and suffer trying to 100% DMC2 again (it's taking me embarassingly long to get all those achievements in lol). I'll be seeing you (hopefully) soon with some art. Maybe.

I have this post in my mind--a response to an ask, actually, but I'm not sure if tumblr is the venue for it. I don't think it's the AUDIENCE for it, maybe. Don't read this if you have even one single solitary thought about eating and also I'm annoying in the way I phrase some of this so at your peril. (Which is why this is not rebloggable)

It's about something I was having a pretty animated conversation about today, with a couple people: When your sport (endurance/long distance) is about discipline, and about being tougher than yourself, about telling yourself "Pain, tiredness--these are just messages I am free to ignore" that primes us, to quote this sports RD I follow, "We are a very vulnerable and overrepresented population" for doing insane shit with our diets. The difficulty is the point.

It's like one time Jetty and I were talking about how I might have dodged a bullet with my parents not being able to afford gymnastics, because I am, I think it's fair to say, an intense person, and she joked, "Oh yeah, you'd have been hanging over a toilet throwing up for sure," and my immediate retort was, "We both know I would be anorexic, you take that back," to which she replied, 'Oh shit, you're right, you're right."

It's a joke, BUT IT IS ALSO A LITTLE TRUE. I have a will of TITANIUM, especially about denial, and while it's a great thing in many respects, it's also sometimes very bad and I get hurt. And this is not UNUSUAL in the athletic circles in which I quite literally run. We're talking about a world where I'm a medium to a LARGE.

But like, no one on tumblr is going to give a good goddamn about athletes, specifically intense athletes, other than to be like, "This is why no one should work out and everyone should stay in the house and play DnD. (Some of this is that I have been training myself out of training unfueled. It has been difficult to overcome the idea that I will run better if I'm adapted to running empty. I hit my PR for this half and 5k, I have proven the point. I have beat my times by training fueled. I came to this by reading the research, and it was STILL hard. We, like, human beings in general, have a tendency to believe what we WANT to be true, and resist even researched shit, and I wanted running fasted to be more helpful than I think it actually is. It's tough to logic your way out of something you emotioned your way into)

And we as ATHLETES have to be having these conversations, because a lot of times these things come from outside. And there's that whole "i don't take advice from someone whose results i don't want" which i do often keep to. So it mattered more that people who DO value athleticism and toughness were like, "i think running 7 miles on empty sounds like a great way to cause injury" versus your general couch type going, "it sounds like you're not honoring your hunger with yummy numnums:(" But we have trouble within ourselves telling when something is tough but fine versus maybe unwell or dangerous. It's like asking video game people to help each other with screen addition. Totally possible, but an audience that sometimes has difficulty parsing their own vulnerability.

The usually uneventful campus was buzzing with whispers and curiosity as rumors spread like wildfire. Floyd Leech found himself at the center of attention. He couldn't quite believe the news himself. You, a regular student who had recently caught Floyd's eye, had mysteriously transformed into a goose overnight by the unresponsible octavinelle student !!

At first, Floyd couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. But as he watched the bewildered goose waddle around the campus, he felt a pang of concern. The reader had always been kind to him, and now they were in such a bizarre and stressful situation as the good person he was and the curiosity that he has for you, Floyd took it upon himself to look after you. He brought them treats from the cafeteria, made sure they had a warm place to rest, and even tried to engage them in conversation, despite the obvious language barrier( he would find a way eventually lol) minutes turned into hours, and Floyd's initial amusement turned into genuine affection. He found himself spending more and more time with you, enjoying your silent company and finding solace in your presence.

As the hours passed, you on the other hand began to exhibit signs of distress. It was clear that you were struggling to adapt to your new form, and Floyd couldn't bear to see you suffer. With determination in his heart, Floyd sought out the most knowledgeable magicians in Night Raven College (crewel), desperate for a solution.

After countless hours of research and experimentation ( he got lectured for notRelief washed over Floyd as he watched the reader blink in confusion, taking in their surroundings. But what truly warmed his heart was the grateful smile that graced the reader's lips as they looked up at him.

"Little shrimpy, make more mess okay~ I enjoy it~ hehe" He says with his iconic smirk plastered on his face

Probably not a hot take from me, but...

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is one of the best family films of 2024.

SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT

It's not a perfect adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2 by any means, but it cleans up a lot of the unessary stuff from the game.

Especially in regards to Maria and the ARK.

I LOVE that the Space Colony ARK doesn't exist in this movie. Because the movie knows it doesn't need it. All it needs to adapt is the research facility where Maria dies and the Eclipse Cannon.

Gerald Robotnik is an interesting character in the film for sure. He still has the same hatred he harbored for humanity in SA2, but with the added bonus of resentment for his grandson, Ivo because, in his own words...

"You're no Maria."

Gerald definitely is playing favorites, and I think it's abundantly clear why. He sees himself in Ivo, and it disgusts him. Whereas with Maria, he can only remember her innocence.

Speaking of Ivo, man, he's great. I mean, he's just all over the place in this film. He's good, he'd bad... and he sure as hell is funny. He and Stone are great, and I love how he finally admits his true thoughts about him during his sacrifice. Stone deserved to be validated for all the shit Ivo put him through over the years.

Now, I wanna move on to our meat and potatoes. Sonic and Shadow. They're phenomenal. Sonic is pretty much the same as he was in Sonic 2, with a little bit of added angst, which is due entirely to the film's themes about family, morality, and loss. Shadow is... jesus... he was amazing. He was everything I wanted him to be. Cool, dark, yet understanding. That being said, I wish they spent more time on Shadow dealing with the issue of what Maria wanted VS getting revenge on GUN with Gerald. I think extending Shadow's conversation with Gerald about their plan and Maria's wish would have done this perfectly and, in turn, better set up his switch to the good side so it's not as "oh yeah I guess we're doing this now."

"Live and Learn."

Okay, time for me to gush about Crush 40.

First of all, SEGA needs to pay Johnny G. what he's owed. Second...

HOLY FUCK

Live and Learn is everywhere in this thing. It's basically Shadow's theme for this film, playing in moments where he's either doing cool shit, or turning further to the light.

And when it played when Sonic and Shadow went Super on the fucking moon?! Oh my god, I would've screamed if it weren't for the fact I was in a public movie theater. You do NOT understand what this means for the next few films. We might actually get songs like "What I'm Made Of" or "His World" adapted for these movies if they keep doing well.

And I don't need a masters degree in Sonic-The-Hedgehogology to tell you how COOL that would be.

Speaking of Sonic, I wanna turn it back to talk about him and Tom. Dude. I love how Tom is immediately ready to join Sonic on his adventures. He loves this kid and wants to support him in any way he can, and I bet Sonic's so happy Tom wants to Hero with him.

"What did you do."

Tom's injury towards the end actually hurt me a bit. I didn't realize how much I cared about him until they played with the possibility of his death in this film. Also, I love what it meant to Sonic. We've seen in Sonic 2 that Sonic has some pent-up aggression for the echidna that killed Longclaw, that he never really properly expresses. The possibility of losing Tom, his best friend and father figure, the first person he connected with after years of isolation, it drives Sonic into a dark mindset. And. I. Love it.

This is what modern Sonic stories need. To give Sonic a wide variety of emotions, for him to act rashly if his closest friends and family are hurt, because it gives him more personality and shows us just how much he cares.

"What was his name...? Tom...?"

I loved everything about the scenes where Tom is hinted at being dead. I love how Shadow sees Sonic's reaction to Tom's potential death, and he has a small realization that he's become just like who he hated. I love watching Sonic panicking because he might be losing his best friend and father. I love how Maddie tries to keep a hold of herself for the sake of Team Sonic. I love the argument between Knuckles and Sonic about the use of the Master Emerald. I love the fight between Super Shadow and Super Sonic. I love how Shadow criticizes Sonic for letting his blind rage take over. I love how he wants Sonic to finish the job, and Sonic realizes what he's doing.

"The light shines, even though the star is gone..."

Sonic and Shadow's brief conversation on the moon is actually really sweet. They share a connection through their losses, and Sonic is able to guide Shadow to the light, by simply telling him to make the right choice. I think it's great because up until now, I think Shadow believed what he was doing WAS the right thing. But after seeing himself become like the GUN agents who ended up killing Maria... He starts to doubt himself. He goes to Gerald, who reassures him that what they're doing is justified, but Shadow doesn't believe that. Note how in that scene he asks if "this is what Maria would have wanted." Gerald responds by basically ignoring his question, saying that destroying earth is what deserves to happen to it. Gerald's own attitude led to his downfall. It's what caused Shadow to realize that he's on the wrong side of the fight by the time Sonic and him are on the moon, sulking.

"There are no winners with revenge."

I love this line from Sonic. It says so much about his past experiences from the last 2 films. He's seen revenge constantly ruin his life. So to be the one delivering it...? It goes against everything he's stood for, crosses a line he doesn't want to cross, and most importantly, sets him up for failure.

"Don't tell me you have a catchphrase.."

I like the comradery between Sonic and Shadow in the Super Hogs v GUN drones fight. They have a newfound understanding for each other that I think would have been able to make them better friends had it not been for Shadow's sacrifice, which will probably lead to the amnesia plot lines from Heroes and Shadow 05, which means it'll probably make Shadow a Sonic hater again. But then again, these movies keep surprising me, so who knows, maybe we won't go that route?

Okay I rewatched bsd, here are my thoughts :)

- I had read the manga too but that was a while ago. I still love how the anime adapts the manga and how it doesn't completely go off doing its own thing etc. I also feel like the anime increases the og pacing of the manga and I find that cunt!

- I have to say that the intelligence aspect of the characters is so outlandishly written. It's incredibly illogical and even for manga anime world, unrealistic. It makes sense for them to be smart but it doesn't make sense how they do what they do. It's not really explained at all. With the hunting dogs its at least somewhat explained why they are so OP, but with fyodor or dazai, we get zero Intel on their thought process.

A perfect example of a really well written realistic intelligent character would be L and light from death note. Their strategy is always somewhat or outright clear and it makes it fun for the viewer because they feel like a part of the team and not some third wheel. We can somewhat "relate" and sympathize etc.

Here. I wouldn't care about their beef if it didn't directly affect the ADA.

But im not sure how believable the author wants the story to be in the first place.. after all... he IS a kafka fan and you can expect a lot of fundamental vagueness disguised in a slew of allegedly meaningful metaphors from those guys.

I'm starting to believe that dazai and fyodor are actually so incredibly stupid it paradoxes into intelligence... I mean... fyodor definitely is morally demented but dazai is just... bro idk what the fuck he is and I don't care to be honest. All he wanted to do was die and somehow ended up in the mafia. But his suicidalness and how it's handeled and how it functions or dysfunctions in the plot, is a topic for a different conversation.

All I can say is: never make your characters OP in too many things. The plot is predictable and by now I just anticipate both of them to constantly outsmart each other and you know what? It happens all the fucking time.

I wouldn't be surprised if dazai ended up victorious or fyodor or if they both died or lived. Anything is possible with them and that is not good writing. You want the reader to believe that there is only one or two outcomes and then BOOM you smack them across the face with a really nice plot twist. All of the plot twists concerning the two are predictable in a way where you know one is coming but now how exactly it will happen.

Sooo unfortunate since they are the main people who move the plot forward. It's sad that the writer chose to go with the lame trope of "I have a backup plan for my backup plan for my backup plan" or "I knew that you knew that I knew that you knew that I knew"

The only thing keeping me going is the art style, the odd charm and i just have an enormous crush on fyodor and a soft spot for sigma and atsushi.

Oh my God fauxteurs never change. Years pass, video games explode in popularity as a medium, and yet, somehow, their underlying attitude of "We don't need to play the games because we're Making Art(tm)" still remains. Why are they like this in the year of our Lord 2025???

Worse, why do people keep letting them get away with it? Wouldn't you be embarrassed to publicly announce "Yeah, I never went back to check with the source material, my own memory (which is faultless, even when I'm stressed out from deadlines and there are now more ways of playing video games than ever) is good enough substitute, w/e"?

That interview you just posted is giving me flashbacks to Ben Hurst and co's. excuses for why they changed so much of the source material for their show. Apparently anyone creating for this series who is over the age of 40 is physiologically incapable of borrowing their kids' game console for one afternoon. It's the only explanation that makes sense.

How long does it take a newbie to play through Sonic 1? A couple hours? A day? A week, maybe? Even if they were completely bad at the game and couldn't beat it in time, couldn't they have just watched a Let's Play on their lunch break or something?

The fact that they took this approach to their SA2-inspired film as well is an extra slap in the face because SA2 is already misremembered and misinterpreted enough as it is. Stuff like this just gives people the impression that SA2 isn't a worthy game on its own merits; that it's only good for hollow vibes and fanservice. Lo and behold, guess what happened to the third film!

You know that saying about how you could accomplish more if you spent the same amount of time just doing the thing as you did thinking about doing the thing? This is what this stuff reminds me of. It is absolutely insane how people have zero respect for Sonic as a franchise, and video games as a medium as a whole, that they'll defend the writers admitting that or even say that it was a good thing. So after getting a few cosmetic mods, looking up good banes and boons for Ninja Corrin (the protagonist), then spending thirty minutes trying to stop Ryoma and Xander from crashing the game, I was finally ready to experience the world of Conquest.

Comments on Netflix's Avatar The Last Airbender

First of all I'm gonna start by saying it is one of the best adaptations I've seen so far. And that's the key word, adaptation. I've seen a lot of fans and others complain about some things that honestly, doesn't make sense because some things only work in a cartoon(just as much as some things only work in a book or a video game)

And before I start to talk about some topics that I judge important, I also wanna say that the production is fantastic, from the costumes to the CGI. It all looks amazing. (A part from Yue's wig)

1. The Script

It's not easy to pick 20+ episodes and make it fit in only 8 but damn they did a hell of a good job, especially when judging what was important to show and what they could let it go. Some fans commented that since there's no fillers, the Gaang and others miss some development but I think that for the universe of the live action what we got here it worked.

I can express how much I like to see Ozai and Azula's relationship and how it is now clear that he uses the siblings against each other, manipulating them to get what he wants. But I will admit I miss the fear Azula had, since it's implied in the show and some extras that she does fear Ozai, and fears becoming like Zuko.

I hope the 41. Is just fine after the battle in the north. See all of them bowing to Zuko after discovering that Zuko was the one that saved their asses and was heavily punished by that...it was beautiful. I loved the writers did that, give names and faces to Zuko's crew and a beautiful yet sad arc when Ozai banished his son and the men who he saved.

I also loved that they put weight into things that was treated as a joke, like Katara talking about her mother. She was a little kid who saw her mom get murdered in front of her and the live action made sure to let us know that it is not okay to make jokes about something so traumatic. All of the deaths here have tons of weight in it, it's not some random person, is someone we met, someone we liked, someone who helped. The costs of the war, something the cartoon manages to show us but know in live action, with real people, the massage gets stronger.

And they didn't forget Iroh's past like the fandom does, which is great. That actor, the earthbending soldier really let it all out, that's how you use the few screentime you have.

Sokka's isn't sexist and y'all were making a storm outta a cup of water, is not like Sokka sexist didn't go away after like the 4 or 5 episode in the original show. I think the live action was able to bring more depth to him in comparison to the first season of the cartoon. We see how he feels about his father's, the absence of him and his duty as warrior who kinda doesn't want to be a warrior.

I need a Gyatso in my life, I didn't know I needed to see more of him until the live action gave us more of him. Kyoshi was the Thor coming to Wakanda from this season, WHY THE FUCK BRYKE DONT WANNA GIVE US A KYOSHI SERIES? She is absolutely a jewel of a character. Roku and Kuruk, damn poor Kuruk man, so much pain in his words but again that's what it means to be the Avatar, it's not fun and games. Zhao saying to Aang what Korra villains said to Korra😭 that the world doesn't need the Avatar anymore, it hurt.

Guys I'm gonna say it, there's no way in hell for anyone to ship Kataang here. I'm saying this because some shippers complain that the secret tunnel part was different but c'mon, look at Kiawentiio and look at Gordon, it would be so s awkward and weird and just wrong. I know they don't have a big age difference, is only like 3 years but when they filmed Gordon looked so much younger than her, maybe in the next seasons the difference won't be that big.

The pace is good, once you start you don't wanna stop.

2. The Acting

Everyone is really good at capturing the essence of it's characters and somewhat making them their own. The highlights for me were Dallas and Ian, Its like they came straight from the show. Ken Leung's Zhao was also amazing as he was way more threatening here than he was in the show.

Kiawentiio was the Katara we were looking for, she is kind yet strong, brave and caring. And Gordon was Aang, sure, he has to learn a few things since he slipped a few times in his acting but nothing that could ruin the experience, that kid is good and just needs some experience.

Elizabeth Yu was Azula. It was different but yet the same character, is like learning something new of her and I like how cleared she show emotions with her eyes. Maria Zhang had great chemistry with Ian and I can't wait to see more of Suki. Arden Cho and Yvonne Chapman as June and Avatar Kyoshi look like they came out straight from the cartoon. Daniel Dae Kim...man is Ozai, so cold, so sharp, so scary, already way better than the cartoon version. I wanna see more of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh since the character he really starts to shine in book 2.

3. The live action doesn't have the spirit of the OG?

Yes, it does have. The thing is now that we are seeing real people, things get dark one way or another but I don't think it ruined the spirit of the show. Aang is still a kid, Sokka still making sarcastic jokes, Zuko still annoying as hell, Katara still hopeful and strong... There's everything there really.

The thing is stuff like genocide, murder, war, death and suffering are, for some people, better to watch as pixels in a cartoon than real people.

I think it's a great adaptation and I would recommend it to every fan.

I could swear my eye twitched the moment I got up from my chair, which caused the others in the room to turn their gazes towards me.

-Hey…why don't we go outside, okay? -Maria approached me and pulled me out, preventing something worse from breaking out.

-Sorry, but i couldn't stand those two assholes anymore —I explained, putting my hand on my belly as I suddenly felt a cramp, making it obvious what was happening to me. I hated it when my period came. She put my hand on my lower back for support.

I nodded slightly, not ignoring the truth, although deep down I wanted to keep my job at Jackson.

-Does Joel know?

-No, no. I didn't want to worry him, he had the patrol with Tommy and if I told him he'd probably chain me to the bed and not let me out.

-As if you don't like it when he do that —she said, raising her eyebrow, provoking a laugh from both of them.

Getting off his horse and cleaning his shotgun, he was wearing a T-shirt that clung to his body due to the heat of the incipient summer that was already approaching, along with pants that molded his strong legs. Even if they had shouted that they were attacking us this damn moment, I couldn't take my eyes off him.

-All mine...—Maria laughed softly when she saw my expression.

Just for one second imagine for a minute this man with glasses on reading a manual about the female period. When I thought Joel couldn't be more attentive and gentle, I caught him in that situation.

-Hi, Paris —Ellie walk inside and set his backpack aside.

-I hate fractions, seriously, why the fuck do I want to know how to divide a cake, I just split it and that's it.

On the outside many times Ellie appeared to be a tough and somewhat coarse girl, but it was only because of the constant struggle she had gone through for the longest and shortest part of her life. She's just a kid.

-I know how bad it is when it happens to you, and you don't deserve it —she said with her face in my chest, her voice distressed.

-Relax, I'm fine —I whispered, stroking her hair —I couldn't be better, I have my family and that's all I need.

-Being a woman sucks, I wish I was half as brave as you —she looked up at me, to which I laughed to hug her tighter as I quickly denied.

-I don't agree, ¿you know why? Because we are intelligent, fearful, brave. You faced unimaginable things, Ellie, and every time you came out of it, you got stronger.

-She’s right.

We both turned around when we heard him. He walked towards us and wrapped us in his arms to lift us off the ground laughing in unison.

-So...we have about, what, ¿2 hours for Ellie's play? —I frowned uncomprehendingly, to which he once again pulled me back to my feet —I brought chocolate almonds, just the way you like it.

Damn crazy hormones. Tears began to fall down my cheeks as if a waterfall was flowing down my face. He tried to calm me down but I put my hand on his lips, silencing him.

-Joel, please, you don't want to take me like that after you see me from behind —I said embarrased.

What are your thoughts on Tesla and Joey's "mother-son" relationship? Do you think Tesla truly sees and treats Joey as her own son? Or would it be hella awkward because Joey is one of Joyce’s clones? Would Tesla be a strict, overprotective, considerate or pampering ? Joey seems to be a polite and understanding boy, so ig his parents are doing a good job.

In APHO, we can see that both Joey and Tesla care for each other a lot. Also when you choose the “Drunk” option, idk, it’s just kinda depressing… Sound like Tesla control her drinking problems and be happier for Joey.

Joachim and Eins, too, what do you think their relationship with Joey will be like? Maybe the two sometimes just quietly stare at Joey because he reminds them of Joyce?

Now that Joachim has gone to HSR, do you think Tesla will ever “hate” Joachim for leaving her and Joey? I mean she was already really busy before, so busy that Joey could rarely see her, but at least Joachim was there to look after him. Now that he's gone, Tesla will have to raise Joey all by herself, and yk, raising a child is never easy. With Tesla's personality, I don't think she could really handle this.

(Sorry if i was asking too much, i just really love reading your post about them, pls never stop😭💞)

Oh, Joey, Joey... We have so many questions for this precious boy yet know so little about him. He’s so polite, kind, and remarkably brave for his young age, just like a certain someone. “I’m more Joyce than Joffrey” he once said and, in every sense of these words, he was absolutely right. He's the most Joyce-like clone with the most Joyce-like mind that, in my opinion, doomed him to think, to act and to perceive the world around him and people in it the very same way Joyce did (He even developed the same passion for cosmos, pls).    Yes, as Joachim said, “he’ll never become Joyce.” But the resemblance is still there and it's too painful. This is why I was confident that Joey’s existence would be too much for AE to bear. They would have to constantly remind themselves that this is not Joyce nor he will ever be, they can't heal their wounds using this boy and force him to become like Joyce.    And the worst part is that Joey knows it? I thought that perhaps he doesn’t understand fully the reason why everyone looks at him that way, why some things he unconsciously says or does make his mother or father or auntie Ein look at him with a poorly hidden sorrow in their eyes, but it’s the elephant in the room and one day he'll might as well want to become this hero everyone sees in him. 

But... I was wrong? Thanks to that hasty chapter that gave no explanation on who this boy was and where he came from, it seemed as everyone were relatively fine with Joey around. Even Ein appeared to be okay which was...odd to me but never mind. 

On the other hand, it was cute and heartwarming to see Tesla being so mature and caring with Joey. She always could get along with kids and teens pretty easily but with Joey she became surprisingly extra self-restrained and showed this lovely mother-ish side of hers. True, Tesla can be both strict and overprotective, and considerate AND pampering. But that’s how she shows her love and she’ll do everything for those she loves (after grumbling for a while, of course). And! Tesla controlling her swearing and alcoholic habits is just whoa. That's some character development right there. 

On top of everything, Tesla is very good in quickly adapting for even the most fucked up situations. So even though we don’t know the exact story of how they came to this whole situation with Joey and even if it was awkward at first, I think at this point she just treats him as her son. Not as a clone, not as some Joyce’s copy, but as her precious little Joey. And I think Joey’s appearance in her life is actually for the better. She needed someone who’d care for her as immensely as she’s willing to care for others. 

With Joey, Tesla has become more mature, calm, and soft, with a hint of tiredness that comes from the old age. But omg not only she started to drink less and tries to tame her temper but that part where she told Joey that glasses are not cool even though she wore glasses to look cool-    As for Joachim and Ein… *sighs*. As I’ve said long time ago, these two are in the same depression boat when it comes to Joyce topic. And no matter how the story currently unfolds and will unfold in the future, I think these two have it hard with Joey. Let me be a sucker for angst here, please. But even in APHO it really felt like it wasn’t easy for Joachim to talk about Joey. He’s trying his best to see the boy as an independent individual but he can’t help but be reminded of Joyce. 

Joachim’s life, personality, his everything was heavily affected and shaped by Joyce’s legacy, then he went through traumatic era of killing Joyce’s clones and now he takes care of another clone. He can’t be free from Joyce’s shadow looming over his life even after everything he went through. It’s just so ironic that parenting Joey not only reminds him of Joyce but perhaps makes him miss his own father too. Still, Joachim tries his best to be a good father.

(But in my opinion, in his case Joey doesn’t really brightens his life, unlike Tesla’s situation).  And then there’s Ein… *pat pat* your sanity will be missed, doctor (And here I thought her life can’t be even more miserable). Before the ex chapter was released, I believed that Joey’s presence would turn her life into a living nightmare. It’s been hard for her to stop treating Joachim as a shadow of Welt and now the story wants me to believe that she’s not bothered by a boy with Joyce’s hair, eyes, smile and character. Uh-huh...I know that the story loves to make her be controversial from time to time but not to this extent? (Or she’s so fed up with life and reached a point of exhaustion where even something like this can’t disturb her).

How could she accept him so easily? I can’t believe it wouldn’t be overwhelming for her to see this boy every day. Surely it would be too much, the story did a very dirty move. And while she may care for Joey, she can’t draw the line between Joey and Welt the very same way she never drew the line between Joachim and Welt. Perhaps she would feel guilty and terrible for being like this and for her inability to love him properly. That's why Ein keeping her distance from Joey was the most obvious thing for me to expect. Yes, avoiding the boy or giving him the cold shoulder would confuse him, "why does auntie Ein hate me?”, he did nothing wrong after all, but Ein just wouldn’t know how to treat him normally. However, the story says she’s ✨fine✨ with it all.    Will Tesla ever “hate” Joachim for leaving her and Joey...well yes, she can’t bring herself to truly hate him nor she can stay indifferent. Most likely she’ll go through a cycle of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance once again. At least she can take comfort in the fact that Joey is not a problematic child. Perhaps she will have break downs from the constant stress and make mistakes along the way, but I want to believe that she’ll manage just fine as long as no one around her offs themselves for the sake of heroic deeds after all, she’s a strong lady and I hope she’ll become a great mother figure to Joey.

Unfortunately, we still have very little content on this topic and I hope to come back to this ramble one day. Thank you once again for these questions tho
