ok, i just saw more posts about it, so here's the issue with ablebodied neurodivergent people using cripplepunk, but very short and probably horribly worded because i am... not in the mental state to dive into anything beyond whatever i spew here. (family loss n such)

firstly, the person who coined cripplepunk SPECIFICALLY said it's for physically disabled people only. that should be enough reasoning, especially since said user has passed away and it's kind of a dick move to misuse a term the coiner isn't around to clarify.

secondly, cripple (the original definition) is specifically referring to people who are unable to walk. while there are further definitions referring to "socially crippled" and such, that is not the definition cripplepunk refers to. in general conversation, if you hear someone referred to as crippled/a cripple, it's assumed in almost every case that said person is physically disabled, and that's what cripplepunk aims to reclaim and embrace.

ok. this doesn't make any sense apologies again, but basically cripple as a term could be reclaimed by anyone who it's been used against including those who aren't physically disabled and it's not anyone's job to control that. but cripplepunk is a community made by and for physically disabled people to discuss the specific struggles we face, and is not a general disability community.

as someone who is both neurodivergent and physically disabled, the two come with *extremely* different struggles and discrimination.

if you are looking for a punk movement to use instead, there's things like psychpunk, madpunk/mad pride, cringepunk, etc. or, if you want a general disability community, just post under general disability tags or even establish a new community/movement (unless there's one i'm unaware of!)

tl;dr you can still reclaim the word cripple, that's not anyone else's business, but cripplepunk was specifically established for physically disabled people
