If you think about it, Byleth got off easy in terms of who their dad was; sure, Jeralt was a paranoid cunt who thought it'd be better to have his child suffer the horrors of combat from a young age instead of raising them in the peaceful monastery, but Robin got a dad who only saw them as a meatsuit for their god and would have happily killed them if their unnamed mother hadn't run away from Plegia with them, Corrin's dad went cray-cray and goes out of his way to psychologically torture/try to kill them in the hopes that he can possess them and destroy the world, Alear's dad wants to brainwash them into helping destroy the world too, and we have no real idea what Kris and Shez's dads were like. In terms of Avatar dads, Jeralt is the undisputed best father of them all!
We have a saying here that goes "au royaume des aveugles les borgnes sont rois" -
Roughly meaning that when everyone is shit tier, even you're slightly above them, you're still shit.
Robin, Corn and Alear's dads are the token evil dragons of their games - even if I disagree about Anankos, the good Anankos who fucked Mikoto and is Corn's dad enlisted the help of the FE13 trio to help them, knowing his time was coming up, heck, he even died to protect Lilith, the kid of his "other self".
Jerry's just a paranoiac drunkard - who might have initially rejected his kid because they were biracial, but utlimately tried to take care for them to the best of his known shitty abilities.
Jerry gets more flak because Billy's supposed to care and love him - unlike the other avatars - and suffers from the comparison of the other dads/parents/parent figure in his verse (Rodrigue, Seteth, Rhea!, even Judith to an extent in CF!).

[scrambles to the ask box]
22 madaleo
ask game
…in a rush of adrenaline.
trips and this falls out of my coat
---
Madara slipped into an alleyway to catch his breath. Things hadn't exactly gone according to plan and he had split up with Kohaku until they could get away, and now he was here.
"Huh? What's going on?" A familiar voice called out from the street. What was he doing here?
Madara turned around and saw Leo, his best friend and... no he shouldn't think about it right now. He grabbed Leo and pulled him into the alleyway, shushing him as people ran past in the street.
Just as Madara thought the coast was clear, footsteps came back around and--
Madara pulled Leo into a kiss and shoved him against the wall, shielding him with his body. He didn't know why he did it, but he pulled away and glared at the person in the street as if he had interrupted them.
The footsteps fell away and Madara looked back at Leo, unsure of what to say. Sorry? I've wanted to do that for a while now? Are you okay?
He didn't have to think for long as Leo pulled him into another kiss, mumbling something under his breath that made Madara laugh into it.
They could deal with the details later.

chapter one
The newsroom of the largest newspaper in the city of Chicago and the Great Lakes region was exactly what one could expect: true chaos. Phones ringing all the time, people talking loudly, papers scattered in the corners, journalists typing at full speed to deliver their articles in time… the place was a huge mess, but you wouldn't trade it for the world.
You walk quickly among the dozens of tables scattered irregularly across the 6th floor of the building. Being the responsible for the entertainment and arts column, you needed to submit an unfinished article in less than two hours.
The click of your white scarpins were practically inaudible over the cacophony of the room. A little out of breath, you arrive at your table and drop your red bag on the dark wooden tabletop with an audible thump, drawing Kim Mingyu's attention.
The black-haired man looks away from the screen in front of him and starts analyzing your outfit. From the pants tight enough to outline your ass perfectly, the refined silk blouse showing just enough cleavage and the small crucifix that rested near your throat. Mingyu lets out a sigh, he hadn't been with you in bed for three hours and he already wanted to drag you back.
"Did you lose something here on my desk, Kim?" you question in a mocking tone when you notice him staring. Of course you wouldn't miss the opportunity to tease him.
"Not really" he responds by getting up and slowly approaching you. A roguish smile tugs at his mouth. "You, on the other hand, lost a pair of lace panties at my place."
"Mingyu!" you shriek and slap the man's strong chest.
"Relax, darling. No one listened." he informs with a wink. "Would you like a coffee? You look tired, didn't you sleep well?"
The worst part of spending the night with him was his inflated ego the next day.
"You are ridiculous."
In a completely childish act, you throw him a middle finger. Mingyu laughs and leaves to grab a coffee for the two of you.
If one asked any Chicago Tribune employee who y/n y/l/n and Kim Mingyu are, they would, undoubtedly, say "the biggest rivals who have ever worked here".
The two of you had been on the newspaper's journalistic team since the beginning of college. You started together as interns, and since then fought like cat and dog. You weren’t sure, but you thought your enmity started with an argument in the archives room. You just knew that "hating" Kim Mingyu in front of everyone was as natural as breathing.
What most people didn't know was that you don’t replicate Tom & Jerry's behavior when you are alone. Protected from curious eyes, you enjoyed your time in a much more pleasurable way.
Literally.
You hated the term "friends with benefits" to describe what you had with Mingyu. Yes, you were friends outside of work. And yes, you had sex occasionally. But you hated people's need to label things, so you preferred to think of Mingyu as just a friend. The "frenemies" dynamic worked well, both sides were comfortable with it.
And that was enough for now.
"I already added sugar. Two small spoons, right? "Mingyu declares as he approaches to hand over the mug filled with steaming coffee.
"Yes, thank you." you offer a grateful smile and take a small sip of the dark liquid.
You weren’t even surprised that he knew how you had your coffee, you’ve had many breakfasts together.
"Good morning!" Yunjin, your best friend, greets you with a beaming smile. "Have you seen Dino?" the youngest questions as she approaches you. "I need to get a file from his computer."
You look back at your friend's table and notice his backpack on the sideboard, but the man himself was nowhere to be found.
"Lipinski asked him to go to her office about twenty minutes ago." Mingyu responds without looking away from the computer screen. "I have no idea why."
You frown at the information.
"Weird." Yunjin comments when turning on her own computer.
"He’ll be back" you state with a shrug.
"Is he being fired?" Yunjin freaks out.
"He wasn't fired. "Mingyu laughs, amused by the situation.
"And how are you so sure?"
Mingyu points something behind you. You turn your head in sync with Yunjin, and see Dino walking towards the three of you. And he wasn't alone.
The man accompanying Dino wore a black suit, white t-shirt and a dark blue tie with white stripes. He was taller than Dino by a good few inches and, even in a suit, it was noticeable that he took care of his physique and probably went to the gym regularly. However, what left you and Yunjin flustered was his beauty.
"Guys, meet our new political journalist." Dino introduces the man.
"Jeon Wonwoo." says as he extends his hand to Yunjin, who was closer to him.
"Yunjin, fashion and lifestyle." the woman introduces herself by taking his hand.
Wonwoo addresses you with expectation in his eyes. His eyes, you notice, are striking and intense. The kind that seems to be able to read your soul with just one look.
"y/n, entertainment and arts."
Suddenly, you feel like the room is too hot.
Maybe it was because of the man in front of you, who was undeniably handsome and seemed too good to be true. Or maybe it was his baritone voice. You hadn't expected the deep, husky tone that came out of his full, heart-shaped lips.
You bite her lower lip to contain a sigh and shake his hand eagerly.
"Mingyu, sports." His face contorts a little, as if he’d already decided that he didn't like Wonwoo.
"Nice to meet you all" Wonwoo says with a friendly smile and adjusts his glasses over his elegant nose.
"Your table should arrive tomorrow." Dino says, drawing everyone’s attention. "You can use mine for today, I'm going to do some field work and I'll be out all day." the youngest explains as he gathers his belongings and puts them inside his backpack. "Now, I need to take you to HR. Let 's go".
Wonwoo agrees and leaves his backpack on the table. The two head to the elevator hall with Dino explaining more about how the newsroom works.
"I call dibs!" you exclaim as soon as you’re sure Wonwoo can’t hear you.
"Hey, not fair!" Yunjin whimpers.
"You already have Dino"
"And you already have Mingyu."
"Dibs… on what?" Mingyu raises his eyebrow when asking. He wasn't even sure if he even wanted to know what the two of you were talking about.
"To fuck him." Yunjin responds as if it was obvious, gesturing with her hand at the same time. "The new guy is pretty hot, if you ask me."
"Your bad taste scares me."
Mingyu's handsome features contort into a frown. He knew he had no right to be jealous of you, but he couldn't help it. It was difficult, even more so when it directly affected his ego. The thought that he might no longer be the only one to have your attention made him slightly irritated.
"Are you jealous?" you tease as you give the man a knowing look.
"He's dying of jealousy." Yunjin says in disbelief. "I never thought I would see Kim Mingyu like this."
"In your dreams, darlings." he says with a mocking tone and goes back to work. "I need to finish my article".
You exchange a glance with Yunjin and you two let out an amused laugh. You take a sip of your almost cold coffee and risk one last look in Mingyu's direction.
The man was frowning and pouting like a toddler being denied something for the first time.
"Don’t be like that. I promise you’ll always be my favorite." you smile flirtatiously.
Totally out of character, Mingyu offers a shy smile.
"You make it sound so sweet when you lie to me" he snorts and you laugh at the comment, finding the whole situation funny as hell.
Everyone returns to their tasks, but the slight irrational jealousy remains in Mingyu’s thoughts. He lets out an unhappy sigh, feeling extremely stupid.
The brunette takes a few deep breaths in an attempt to refocus on finishing the basketball game schedule he needed to deliver. For now, that’s all he could do.
chapter two
It was Wednesday and the Chicago Tribune newsroom was practically empty. You, Mingyu, Wonwoo and two other journalists were the only ones there.
You feel like you’re being watched and look around, finding Mingyu staring from his desk, his bottom lip casually caught between his teeth. You could practically hear his mind engines turning.
You were very angry at him the night before. Out of jealousy, Mingyu was a total dick to you and to Wonwoo at the company dinner. However, after you shouted at him for around 20 minutes and he fingered you in the backseat of his car, you calmed down a bit. You still pretended to be mad, but you weren’t one to really hold on to grudges.
"I need your help in the archives room. "Mingyu says, shaking you out of your own thoughts.
"Is it difficult for you to find a file on your own?" you tease, tilting your head mockingly.
Mingyu smirks.
"It would be easier if the person who organized it had a decent system, my dear." he teases, remembering why you supposedly hated each other. The man gets up and says: "Let's go, I don't have all day".
You roll your eyes at him, but stand up anyways. He leads the way, and the two of you leave an unaware Wonwoo behind.
Mingyu opens the heavy wooden door and lets you get in first. The lights flickered a few times before stabilizing. Several silver shelves filled with white folders were scattered around the place, as well as some wooden tables and chairs. In the right corner, they had a copy machine and other stationery items that could help journalists' research.
You walk a few inches to the first shelf and only then realize that Mingyu didn't say what he was looking for. "What do you want to find?"
"Archives about the 1958 World Cup."
"Hm... I don't know if we'll have much on the subject" you state as you walk towards the shelves at the end of one of the aisles. "This is the stupidest thing to find around here, why would you even… " you’re cut off when Mingyu turns you around to face him.
He presses you against the low sideboard against the back wall of the room. Your eyes widened, not understanding what was happening. Mingyu runs his large hand across your cheek. He wets his lips, staring at yours eagerly.
"Is it okay if I say ‘shut up and kiss me’?"
You roll your eyes, but grab the man by his tie and pull him in for a kiss. Mingyu lets out a sound of approval, satisfied with your attitude. He lifts you and places you on the sideboard, positioning himself between your legs.
Mingyu raises his hands to your ass and squeezes hard, bringing you even closer. You tangle a hand in his hair, while the other one lightly scratches his nape just the way you knew he liked. Your tongues caress each other with dexterity, having already done this hundreds of times.
The kiss wasn't at a desperate pace with a hint of anger, like it was the last time you hooked up. It seemed like Mingyu wanted to prove a point. He kissed you as if he wanted to mark you as his. And you loved it. The world seemed to disappear when you kissed like that. An earthquake could happen, none of you would notice.
The man separates your lips and starts distributing wet kisses across your jaw and neck. You let your head fall back, giving him more space to explore. Mingyu opens the buttons on the black blouse you wear and notices you weren’t wearing a bra. He lets out a grunt as he raises his strong hands calmly; touching you gently. Too gently. You start to get impatient, knowing you didn't have much time before someone else showed up.
Mingyu wraps his lips around your right nipple, making you let out a soft moan. He gives it a few seconds of attention before moving on to the other and repeating the same process of giving small licks and pulling away with a gentle brush of his teeth. He kisses up from your boobs to your neck, his hands stripping you out of your black skirt in the same rhythm.
"You can stop there." you pull the man by his dark locks when he tries to give you a hickey near your collarbone. You hated being marked in visible places.
"Sorry…" the look he gives you is warm and without the slightest trace of regret. His swollen lips pull back into a sly smile and you roll your eyes out of habit. With no more time to waste, the journalist opens the button on his own pants while you take care of removing your panties.
And that's when you see him. If Mingyu turned his face a little, he would see him too.
Precariously leaning on a file box, two hallways away, was Jeon Wonwoo. His eyes widen when he realizes that you discovered him there. You bite your lower lip and wink at him, making it clear that everything was fine.
Wonwoo lets out a breath, which he hadn't even realized he was holding until then. The man didn't intend to be there. He had gone to the files room after you, at Lipinski's request. He didn't expect to find his coworkers about to have sex.
And he didn't expect to want to stay there to watch.
Suddenly feeling bewildered, Wonwoo backs up until his back rests against the white cabinets that were adjacent to the bookshelf that hid him. He brings his right hand to his forehead and presses the space between his eyebrows with his fingertips.
The room was too hot, the black tie suffocated him, the tailored trousers felt like a prison. A little desperate, he runs his hand through his hair, removing it from his sweaty forehead. Your low moans pull him back to the reality of where he was and what was happening just a feet away from him. He straightens his body, ready to get out of there.
However, he can't leave without taking one last look.
Mingyu hid his face in your neck as he fucked you in a controlled tempo. You hugged him tightly, with your lower lip trapped between your teeth in an attempt to contain your moans.
As if they were magnets, your eyes soon meet Wonwoo's again. You smirk, amused to know he was still there.
With his hands shaking, the man lets out a tortured sigh and walks away, leaving the room as quickly and silently as possible.

"I need to say something." you declare as you try to adjust the black blouse on your body. It was completely crumpled, but whatever.
"Go ahead” Mingyu turns to look at you.
You open and close your mouth several times, unsure of how to start the sentence. As someone whose job was the use of words, you were definitely failing to communicate.
"I didn't want to talk when we were... " you interrupted the sentence, implying what they were doing. "Wonwoo saw us."
Mingyu stops trying to straighten his messy hair and looks at you suspiciously, as if you had just told him that you knew which numbers would be drawn in the lottery.
"And that’s a problem because…?"
"Why aren't you nervous about this? "you question, finding the man’s reaction weird.
You tilt your head, analyzing the man in front of you. He was strangely calm for someone who had just heard that the new nemesis had seen naked the woman he had been jealous of a few days ago.
"What do you think he's going to do? Go out and tell everyone he saw us here?" he rolls his eyes and tucks the hem of his white blouse into his pants. "As if."
"Of course not, you moron. I thought you would freak out for another reason."
"And what reason could that be?" Mingyu asks, holding your chin with his long fingers, forcing you to look at him.
"Nevermind."
Mingyu shrugs, it was in his best interest to leave that subject aside. You try to adjust your black skirt, unzipping at the back to make the process easier.
"How much did he see?" Mingyu asks himself as he leans against the sideboard, waiting for you.
"I don't know when he arrived, but I saw him before you... oh, you know."
"Before I fucked you?" Mingyu laughs loudly and you slap his chest, suddenly feeling ashamed. "Who knows, maybe he learned a thing or two…"
"You are annoying, Kim Mingyu." you let an amused smile escape your lips.
You turn around in a silent request for help from the man, who zips up your skirt.
"And you love it, my dear" Mingyu kisses your neck as he carefully pulls the zipper up. "Now, move that beautiful ass of yours. We have deadlines." he gives you a playful slap on the butt before heading to the exit.

ELVIS MASTERLIST //  ELVIS & ADDISON MASTERPOST
‘Okay, so no flowers,’ Addison sighed hoping that this decree would be enough to end their argument as she finally reached the end of her tether.
‘You can’t get married without flowers!’ Marci protested, her eyes wide at the mere suggestion of such a thing. Addison sighed trying to push the irritation her friend's aghast expression caused from her body. She didn't mean to be annoyed at her, it wasn't her fault that her florist had cancelled less than a week away from the big day offering no more than an excuse about a supply issue and the numbers to some other vendors in Memphis who might be able to help, and yet she couldn't help but feel annoyed because even though it was disappointing for her it didn't matter.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to marry Elvis, they’d been engaged since the minute they’d gotten back together nearly a year ago, it was that she just didn’t see the need for all the fuss. Like with everything he wanted to go all out and show them off to the world and whilst she understood his reasons it hadn’t been easy. Since leaving the Colonel he’d been busy and though that wasn't irregular for him this time it was different because he was actually enjoying it for once. He loved the work he was doing now and the opportunities not being tied to the old toad came with which is why she'd encouraged him to do whatever he wanted but that had meant the wedding planning had fallen in her lap, well, hers and Marci’s hence why the no flowers debacle had turned into a half-hour debate as they’d waited around to go down to the show.
‘She’s right Mom,’ Jess concurred making her mother's glare fall on her as though she was being betrayed. She supposed she shouldn’t have been surprised considering Jess had become quite the little advocate for this wedding whenever Elvis wasn’t around. She knew it was because it meant so much to him but still, if she had to listen to one more conversation about flowers or dresses or cakes she felt as though she may scream.
‘Well, what am I supposed to do? They can’t magic a crop of flowers where there are none,’ Addison said.
‘Well maybe we just pick something else? Could they do that?’ Jess reasoned.
‘It took Mar two weeks to pick them out for me,’ Addison reasoned.
‘No, no, Jessie’s right!’ Marci agreed, ‘have they got others?’
‘I assume so what with it being a florist and all,’ Addison said sarcastically though neither of them seemed to be paying attention as they conjured up a solution.
‘How about chrysanthemums?’ Jess asked watching her aunt who frowned.
‘No they won’t match,’ Marci said.
‘Yeah you’re right I forgot the dresses are purple,’ Jess agreed.
‘How do you even know what a chrysanthemum is?’ Addison asked.
‘We learned about them in school,’ Jess shrugged, ‘what about lilies?’
‘They’ll stain,’ Marci said, ‘what about those white roses we said originally?’
‘Maybe some freesias?’ Jess added.
‘Ooh yeah, that’s pretty!’ Marci said as the pair of them looked towards the bride, Addison shrugged, ‘if you can sort it be my guest.’
‘I’ll do it right now,’ Marci said with a self-satisfied smirk before she headed to the phone.
As she disappeared into the other room a glare that resembled Addison’s fell across Jess's pretty face making her mother frown as she said, ‘what?’
‘You could act more appreciative y’know,’ Jess said.
‘Mar knows I appreciate her,’ Addison replied, Jess sighed.
‘I’m just saying it’s like you don’t even wanna get married sometimes,’ Jess replied as she dropped her gaze to her lap twirling a piece of fringe from her shirt around her finger. Addison frowned, wondering to herself if that was really how she sounded.
‘Jess,’ Addison sighed but before she could protest and inform her daughter that weddings and marriages didn’t conflate she heard her name yelled across the suite.
As she stood up Jess sighed and rose too heading to where her aunt was still on the phone. Addison watched her go with a heavy heart before she headed to where her name was called again. When she got there she found Lisa standing by the door of her room partially dressed for the night.
‘What’s the matter, sweetie?’ Addison asked as a pout fell on the blonde’s face.
‘I can’t find my shoe,’ she said offering up the other one as some sort of proof its twin was in fact missing.
‘Well it’s gotta be somewhere,’ Addison said though they’d spent a lot of this year living out of suitcases Addison wasn’t surprised something was missing. After a quick sweep of the room she found it and though she knew she probably shouldn’t she didn’t protest when Lisa offered her father’s puppy dog eyes and asked her to help her put them on.
When they re-emerged the suite was full, evidently the meeting Elvis had been in was now over given that most of the boys were in the suite their wives in tow. Not that it mattered because as Addison appeared into the entryway, Lisa’s little hand clasped in hers, whatever attention Elvis had been paying to his friends was gone.
‘Hey,’ he said, a beaming smile on his face as he approached his girls. Addison returned it, whatever upset she’d been feeling at Jess’ guilt-tripping ebbing away at his twinkling smile.
‘Hi,’ she replied as he pulled her close pressing a quick kiss on her lips which made her smile widen.
‘You look stunning,’ Elvis murmured.
‘You don’t look so bad yourself,’ Addison giggled, reaching up to run her fingers through his hair. He was dressed for the show, swathed in a white jumpsuit that made his eyes sparkle and his summer tan look richer.
‘Yeah well-‘ Elvis started though before he could continue he felt a small hand push on his thigh forcing them to part and when he looked down he found his daughter watching them with a pout as she said, ‘what about me?’
‘Well you always look pretty buttonhead,’ he said moving to hoist her up onto his hip, forgetting as he always did she was getting a tad too old for it though it was brought to his and Addison’s attention as an uncomfortable grunt escaped his lips.
‘Jessie helped me pick out my dress,’ she said showing him the red summer sun dress she was sporting.
‘Well it’s very nice,’ Elvis said, kissing her cheek before he said, ‘speaking of where is Jess?’
‘She’s with Mar,’ Addison said a hint of a sigh in her voice her soon-to-be husband didn’t fail to miss. And as he watched her quickly divert off the topic hoisting Lisa down onto the ground so they could get ready to head downstairs he felt the idea something was amiss cement inside him.
He let her pull away from him, pretending he wasn’t watching her as she plastered a smile on her face as she greeted their friends, but when they were called to head downstairs he lingered by the door, catching her by the arm as she walked past him pulling her from the flow of the crowd.
‘Uh, boss?’ Charlie said as the dregs of people made their way out of the suite leaving just Elvis and Addison behind, a confused look on her face as Elvis replied, ‘just give us a minute.’
‘Sure,’ Charlie said eying them for a second before he obediently closed the door leaving them in the empty suite.
‘Everything okay?’ Addison asked with a frown as watched her waiting for her to lay on him whatever it was that was bugging her.
‘I was just gonna ask the same thing,’ Elvis said making her sigh, ‘you okay?’
‘Fine,’ she lied.
‘But?’ he said reaching out to wrap his arms around her so that she was engulfed in him, her only option to peer up into those adoring blue eyes. She paused, her fingers intent on playing with the blue threading on the peacock jumpsuit he was sporting until finally, she muttered, ‘remind me why you want a big wedding again?’
‘Ah,’ Elvis frowned, ‘more problems?’
‘The florist cancelled. I tried fixing it but it’s just a bit chaotic. I mean it’s a week away and I’m trying to arrange things when we’re thousands of miles away y’know?’ she said, her words causing nerves to flutter through him.
‘You’re having second thoughts?’ Elvis asked with a frown.
‘No! Of course not, not at all!’ she sighed as her arms slid up to wrap around his neck, ‘it’s just all of this stuff I don’t care about…the flowers and cakes and everything. I know you probably feel like I don’t wanna.’
‘I don’t think that,’ Elvis said earnestly. Honestly considering she’d been anti-fuss since he’d known her he hadn’t expected any different, he’d just been happy she’d been willing to put up with his longing to have a big wedding.
He knew it was silly. His last wedding had been a big one and yet they’d had no control over any of it, opting to have their own ceremony at the house just a few weeks later but this time he wanted big. He wanted everything to be what they wanted, not what the colonel had arranged. He wanted to show her off to the world, to prove that after all that heartache and pain he’d finally got his girl. He’d finally got to put that ring on her hand in front of his friends and family the way he’d intended it to be when they were just kids. And fortunately, she’d been happy to let him. And though they weren’t yet married he knew her better than anyone. He knew that if something had gone wrong she would’ve fixed it or let it go so whatever had got her in a funk must’ve run deeper, a notion that was confirmed as she murmured, ‘your daughter does.’
‘Ah,’ he murmured, running a hand down her cheek, ‘you guys are fighting.’
‘Not fighting it’s just that she thinks me not wanting a big wedding means that I don’t love you which isn’t true.’
‘Baby I know that,’ Elvis chuckled seeing the worry in her eyes dim at his laughter, ‘Jess knows that too she’s just looking out for us that’s all. I mean us getting married probably means as much to her as it does to us.’
‘I know,’ Addison agreed, ‘and I’m sorry, I know you’re too busy for all this.’
‘I’m not too busy,’ Elvis corrected as his thumb caressed her cheek.
‘El this is your busiest year yet what with the Colonel and everything,’ she argued.
‘Ads I’m not too busy for us,’ Elvis reiterated, ‘if you need help I can help. Just tell me what needs doing and I’ll get it done okay? Heck if you want to pick a florist here in Vegas I’ll have someone drive the damn flowers home.’
‘You’re sweet you know that,’ she giggled.
‘That’s me, sweet as pie,’ he smiled unable to stop himself now that he could see she’d relaxed. She smiled back at him before pulling away evidently realising that time was ticking on and that he was due to be on stage any minute. He grumbled as she walked away, allowing him to pull her by the hand through the door though as they headed towards the elevator.
Red was the only one in the hallway, most of the party having already headed to respective destinations, but even so Elvis slowed, not quite ready to leave her side just yet. She glanced at him curiously but said nothing allowing him to follow her onto the elevator wordlessly and they rode in silence down to the main floor which was only broken as Jerry appeared, ready and waiting to escort Addison to the showroom floor where Marci and his daughters would be waiting for her. Yet as she went to leave the elevator he stopped her, pulling her into him as he said, ‘what no good luck kiss?’
‘You don’t need luck,’ she said rolling her eyes but leaning up to kiss him all the same as his arms wrapped around her. Even though he loved having her in the crowd watching at that moment he didn’t want to let her go. She noticed his apprehension, her brows knitting together as she asked, ‘what?’
‘Thank you,’ he said simply.
‘What for?’ she asked confused.
‘Everything, because been though I know this isn’t your ‘thing’,’ he said smirking as she rolled her eyes, ‘you’ve been amazing.’
‘Well thank you,’ she smiled though her face became curious as she fiddled with his collar and asked, ‘remind me why it’s your thing again?’
‘Addie I planned to marry you two weeks after we got together. I guess we’ve waited so long when I finally do get you down that aisle I want it to be special. I wanna show you, us, off,’ he said honestly.
‘You big softy! Though you’re sure I can’t tempt you into a registry office? I mean we are in Vegas,’ she said quirking her eyebrow suggestively.
‘Nice try,’ he chuckled.
‘Uh boss?’ Red said, grabbing his attention. Elvis glanced back noting the serious look on his friend's face that suggested he didn’t have time to be dawdling. Addison seemed to notice it too and leaned up to kiss him quickly, muttering, ‘have a good show. I’ll see you when you get off stage?’
‘See you later honey,’ he said, allowing her to leave his arms and head towards where Jerry was waiting for her. Though as they disappeared out of the heavy metal doors leading to the foyer of the hotel Elvis paused.
‘Everything okay man?’ Red asked noting how his friend hadn’t yet moved to head to the stage.
‘Yeah,’ Elvis said before he added, ‘actually can you help me?’
✵✵✵
Mid-show Red had informed Addison that Elvis had been called away to socialise with a friend of the owner and instead of having Lisa fight to stay awake backstage she’d decided she may as well take the girls upstairs. Whilst Jess disappeared to her room, evidently still in a rut with her mother over their crossed word, Lisa ran to the couch, not content with going to bed without at least saying goodnight to her daddy. Though unfortunately for Elvis any fight his littlest had seemed to ebb the moment they got situated on the couch ready to watch some TV and after half an hour Addison found Lisa cuddled up into her side, flat out. Addison sighed, knowing that tomorrow morning she’d no doubt get an earful off of the six-year-old about putting her to bed before she was ready but nevertheless, she scooped her up and headed down the hall with her in her arms so she could put her to bed. It didn’t take long to get her tucked up in bed, her sleepy eyes opening just a little as she was jostled into a pair of pyjamas, and before long Addison was creeping out of the girl’s room, shutting the door as quietly as she could as to not disturb her. Though as she turned around any chance at being quiet disappeared as she let out a gasp when she found Jess standing behind her.
‘Jesus,’ Addison chuckled quietly, ‘you scared the crap outta me.’
‘Sorry just using the bathroom,’ Jess mumbled before she padded across the hall to her room. Addison sighed and though it seemed whatever spat they were having wasn’t going to be dealt with tonight she decided to at least show her daughter she was ready for a ceasefire whenever that may come about as she said, ‘Goodnight Jessie.’
‘Night mom,’ Jess said pausing in her doorway as her mother watched her. Finally, she looked at her and said, ‘tell dad I said goodnight?’
‘Of course,’ Addison said feeling that this was her daughter dipping her toe in the water something that was proved true as she didn’t head inside and stayed half in the doorway before turning back and saying, ‘Mom?’
‘Yeah, sweetheart?’ Addison said turning to look at her daughter since she had made it look as though she had been heading to leave, allowing Jess not to feel pressured into whatever she wanted to say next.
‘I’m sorry about before,’ Jess said, ‘what I said about the wedding I know you want to marry him.’
‘More than anything,’ Addison said, closing the distance and hugging her daughter before pulling back and placing her hands on the sides of her face. She was the same height as her now, almost a woman, and yet to Addison she still felt like that baby girl she’d held in her arms.
‘I didn’t mean to be rude,’ Jess said guiltily.
‘You weren’t and I know how I must seem like I don’t care about it but you that’s not true. I wanna get married, I’d have married him the day he asked, and if uprooting our entire lives didn’t prove that I don’t know what will,’ Addison smiled, gliding her thumb across her daughter’s cheek, ‘it's just busy that’s all. Your dad’s working harder than ever, we’ve got to arrange a world tour, your school, seeing Lisa the last thing I care about is what colour flowers we have on our wedding day.’
‘So why don’t me and Mar worry about it?’ Jess asked.
‘Jessie,’ Addison giggled, pulling back from her just a touch.
‘Seriously I mean it. Why don’t me and Mar head home for the week? We can arrange everything and all you’ll have to do is show up,’ Jess said excitedly. Addison couldn’t help but smile as her husband-to-be’s words echoed in her head. He was right, this wedding probably meant more to her than anyone.
‘How about we talk about it tomorrow?’ Addison chuckled.
‘Okay,’ Jess said, her sour mood evidently having evaporated with the prospect of wedding planning, ‘night mom.’
‘Night honey,’ she said allowing her to leave her grasp and head into her hotel room.
After that Addison decided to head back to her own room with the idea of getting into bed ready for when Elvis was relinquished from schmoozing whoever it was he’d been obligated to stay downstairs for though she was no sooner over the threshold of their room before she felt a pair of hands nip at her waist startling her for a second time. When she turned around he was watching her with joy and though he allowed her to swat his chest he didn’t wait long before he pulled her to him leaning down to give her a kiss.
‘Hi,’ he said as they broke apart, noting that his teasing was long forgotten given the smile on her face.
‘Hi,’ she said moving back so she could look at him. He’d changed into his ‘normal’ clothes though normal for him still meant a rich blue suit and shirt buttoned so low it made Addison’s mouth go dry. Not that she let it deter her for long as she wrapped her arms around his neck and said, ‘so, good show?’
‘Always a good show with you guys watchin’,’ Elvis said with a smile, ‘did you like it?’
‘Always do,’ she mused.
‘And here I thought Jer was bein’ stingy with compliments when he said it was ‘great,’ Elvis chuckled.
‘Well how about I give you a proper review,’ she said, trailing her fingers up the bare skin on his chest though she was stopped as he grabbed her by the wrist and replied, ‘maybe later.’
‘Oh,’ she said though before she could question his reluctance he announced, ‘I wanna go out.’
‘What?’ she asked.
‘What do you say? I mean the nights still young, the girls are asleep, why not?’ Elvis said.
‘I don’t really feel like going to a casino or anything,’ Addison said. In fact she didn’t want to do anything besides what she’d just suggested, their ludicrously large bed mere feet away beckoning them to it.
‘I don’t mean a casino,’ Elvis said rolling his eyes, ‘I mean just us. Like the old days.’
‘What are you talking about?’ Addison asked even more confused with his explanation.
‘Us two. Ridin’ around Memphis in my car,’ he said simply.
‘Really?’ she asked.
‘You wanna go? Could be a nice lil stress reliever,’ he said, letting her go but not enough that he couldn’t hold her by the hand pulling her down towards the elevator.
‘It thought we had a stress reliever,’ Addison quipped.
‘Ads,’ he said with enough seriousness in his tone Addison could see that this wasn’t some off-the-cuff idea.
‘Okay,’ she said, ‘but you’re driving.’
‘Deal.’
Though she had been sceptical at first their little trip out around the city didn’t turn out to be all that bad. Of course she couldn’t say whether spending the night not leaving their bed would’ve been better but this was nice all the same. Given that Elvis had arranged for them to have a car that wasn’t one of theirs waiting they were virtually nameless as they tore out onto the streets of Las Vegas something Addison found wasn’t all that bad. She had loved this last year with him but like with the wedding it wasn’t always easy. She couldn’t just go to the store anymore. She couldn’t walk across the street without being looked at or sometimes approached. She barely got a minute alone without someone needing him for something. And though she understood she couldn’t help but savour those moments when it was just the two of them. Like those early days when he was stepping into her world rather than her stepping into his.
And yet it didn’t feel as though they were in anyone's world anymore, it felt more as though they were in the past, riding around Memphis alone like they used to do when they were desperate to get away from everyone but each other. She was sitting beside him, her head on his shoulder as he drove around town, the only noise the murmur of the radio and their steady breathing given that the pair of them seemed to feel the same urge to forgo conversation and just be. Yet she felt him glance down at her, his hand moving to her cotton-covered thigh as he murmured, ‘wanna go for burgers or something?’
‘Sure,’ she said placing her hand on his as she closed her eyes, fiddling with the rings on his fingers. She kept them closed as he drove, only opening them as she felt him turn his indicator on and the distinct thud of the car passing from the road into a parking lot.
It was dark now and though they were in the parking lot of somewhere she was sure it wasn’t a burger joint and so she said, ‘Elvis?'
Though she uttered no more than his name her questions were obvious and yet he didn’t answer her, instead he carried on heading into a parking space as she craned her neck so she could see the establishment they were at which she was right wasn’t a diner but a chapel.
‘Elvis this isn’t a diner,’ she said confused as to why he wasn't replying at the simple error though her thoughts became less jumbled as he put the car in park and turned towards her watching her with a cocky grin on his face.
‘What are you doing?’ was all she could ask.
‘Giving you what you want,’ Elvis shrugged as though it was obvious.
‘Elvis I don’t understand,’ she said, trying to ignore the thudding in her heart as he watched her.
‘You wanted simple and well this is as simple as you can get,’ he said watching as she tried to process everything.
‘But the wedding I mean you wanted the big wedding and we've been planning-‘
‘I know I know,’ he chuckled, ‘and believe me, I intend to do that weddin’ too but I figured you’ve spent near on a year humouring me and my ideas I figured why not do the same for you.’
‘Elvis,’ she said trying to ignore the lump in her throat as happy tears threatened to spill over.
‘Hell woman you ain’t gon’ cry on me are ya? I thought this is what you’d want,’ Elvis said as worry crept in. When she’d suggested it early that night he hadn’t expected such a tiny seed to take root inside his brain but by the time he’d gotten to the stage it was all he could think about. He still wanted his big wedding – the one to show her off to the world but he could give her what she wanted too. Something small something intimate, something just for them. Addison shook her head, ‘it is! I just can’t believe you’d do this for me.’
‘I’d do anything for you,’ Elvis said firmly, ‘Addie over the last year you’ve uprooted your entire life. You’ve planned a wedding, looked after our daughters while I worked and made sure that work didn’t kill me in the process. If I can give you a simple wedding that’s what I’m gonna do.’
‘Thank you,’ she said, ‘not just for this but this past year too. I know it took us a while but I’m glad we waited for everything that we have now.’
‘Me too,’ Elvis said with a smile.
‘I love you,’ Addison said.
‘I love you baby. Now c’mon,’ he said opening the door and holding out his hand for her to take, ‘let’s get us married.’
 ✵✵✵
‘I’m hungry,’ Addison said as she felt her stomach gurgle, trying to recall the last thing she’d eaten. It must’ve been at least five hours ago if not more but even so her body's call for nourishment was struggling to override her longing not to move from where she was nestled beside her new husband.
‘Wore ya out huh?’ Elvis said, his nimble fingers tickling along her side as she rolled onto her front so that she could see him.
‘Funny,’ she said rolling her eyes.
‘Room service?’ he suggested, enjoying the way his heart fluttered when she smiled at him.
‘Sounds good,’ she said though she sighed when he made no effort to move from the bed, ‘and here I was thinkin’ that you’d be a good husband once we were married.’
‘I just wanted to enjoy the view,’ Elvis smirked as she climbed out of bed in search of a menu, ‘oh and get the champagne!’
As she disappeared into the living room, he flopped back, running his fingers through his hair as he lay there.
Married. Elvis Presley was married, again. And not a soul knew. Well besides him, his wife and the sworn-to secrecy chapel staff but who was counting? He couldn’t believe that after sixteen years of waiting he’d married the love of his life, she was his. After all the torment and heartbreak they were together for what he was determined to be forever because there were no doubts here. There was no fretting or worrying about what lay ahead because with her it felt right, like it always had. That had been the main reason he’d wanted a big wedding in the first place, to finally show everyone that whatever had happened in the past didn’t mean anything because they had their future.
A future he couldn’t wait to begin no more so than when she reappeared, now clad in a nightdress much to his disappointment, clambering onto the bed, champagne bottle and room service menu in hand, as she sat beside him. Though he already knew what he wanted from room service he pretended to peruse the menu she handed him though only for a minute as his attention was diverted to her as she glugged down a mouthful of champagne offering him the bottle a moment later.
He pushed himself to sit up, taking a swig before handing the bottle back to her, watching her closely.
‘What?’ she asked feeling his eyes on her face.
‘Nuthin’,’ he smiled, ‘I’m so glad we did this.’
‘Me too,’ she smiled though it dimmed as she added, ‘though Jess is going to be furious. Mar too.’
‘Maybe we don’t tell them just yet?’ Elvis suggested and though it didn’t seem all that fair it was probably the best option given how upset he knew both the girls would be let alone Marci. Addison pondered that for a moment, gnawing on her lip nervously before she said, ‘maybe we don’t tell anyone.’
‘Huh?’ Elvis replied.
‘I mean maybe this wedding can just be for us? Our little secret,’ she suggested. She knew it was silly to ask for more after all he’d already given her today and yet she couldn’t help but want it. To have something that was just theirs. So that in years to come when people talked about the Presley wedding; about the food, or the venue or the god-forsaken flowers they’d be talking about something else entirely and they'd never know. They’d never know that when they spoke of the luxurious designer wedding dress she wore Addison was thinking about an old summer dress she’d bought many moons ago when she, Jess and Marci had taken a vacation to the beach. They’d never know that when they raved about how good the sit down dinner they’d had was Addison would agree recalling a midnight snack of burgers and pancakes picked off a room service menu and washed down with champagne. They’d never know that the first dance they gushed about, the pair of them dancing elegantly across the back lawn, wasn’t the first dance Addison recalled instead thinking of the pair of them laughing and giggling in an uncoordinated tangle above the city of Las Vegas. No, all those things would just be for them and fortunately, Elvis seemed to be on the same wavelength as he said, ‘yeah, maybe you’re right.’
‘Our little secret,’ she said.
‘Our little secret,’ he nodded leaning in so that he was barely an inch from her face, his thumb and forefinger pinching her chin to keep her in place as he said, ‘are you happy Mrs Presley?’
‘Happier than ever.’

Funny how Jeralt could've used the fact he had a Crest to claim a title but instead went mercenary mode when his own child reveals in Hopes they dislike killing.
Anyway, I am still scratching my head about how he didn't connected the dots together about Rhea and Seiros when he received a Crest and lived for i don't remember how many years
And he also somehow didn't noticed that his beloved wife had a Crest as well. Yeah they don't leave marks but aren't they supposed to give you a boost ?
NGL,
Maybe it's only in my HC or AU, but Jerry suddenly popping up with a Major Crest of Seiros and asking for a title was bound to end up with "and this man helped House Hrym and made an enemy of Adrestia so he must be terminated he and his progeny" false charges to get rid of potential "dynastic threats" to the Adrestian succession.
Jerry still thinks Rhea's scary per her support with Billy in FE16, so maybe he found her "scary" because she was still alive and kicking after all those years (canonically he was there during the Mona Rhea incident and the portrait Ignatz'n'Sylvain found in Nopes, so he knows she fakes her death periodically) - granted, he only started to find her to be sus 280 years after meeting her for the first time, so...
FWIW, Jerry could have sold more of her secrets to randoms (we don't have proof he didn't, even if the game seems to imply the Western Church and Adrestia came to resent Rhea thanks to Agarthan meddling believing she's not "what she pretends to be" and not because a drunk Jeralt casually dropped that Rhea has been running the CoS for 300 years while using a lot of aliases and faking her death periodically) and he didn't !
I guess he knew she was someone "special" or had many secrets, but never bothered to enquire or to thing about them - at least before Billy's birth and Citrus' death.
As for Citrus' crest, I wonder if Rhea didn't explicitely ask Citrus not to tell a soul about her crest, worried as she was about her and how potential Sothis hosts - or just, bearers of the Crest of Flames could be attacked by Agarthans or sought after for the power of the crest.
Granted, Jerry didn't notice Citrus' nature as an artificial being so...

hi kay tell me about jerrykramer if you want? it's been too long since i watched seinfeld
oh boy... where to start...
maybe it's best to come in hot with a tinhat theory? imo, jerrykramer was never written as a romantic ship or intended to end up as one. if anything, i can see the writers (and jerry...) more go the route of your classic 80s buddy comedy that has maybe some tropey romantic undertones to it if you care to look (like, say "midnight run").
BUT i think that michael (richards) and jerry (seinfeld. lol.) had such an amazing chemistry that it also kind of wrote itself and a lot of the "acting" choices on jerry's part (who has also stated again and again that he is not an actor and can only react genuinely to the people opposite to him - which is also why he cast the show the way it was cast - because he felt comfortable around those people and knew he didn't have to stretch himself beyond his abilities) were just actor bleed (the fkn heart eyes, man...). with michael, you can see it especially in later seasons when he's allowed himself to relax a little.
And, of course, most importantly, it WORKED. jerry's #1 priority has always been to make it funny. in his own words: he lives in a world of funny (and he has also said he doesn't see race or gender which still drives me insane to think about. funnysexual).
But there were also very conscious writing choices for jerry and kramer which has me believing that the writers (and jerry. who was "micro managing every aspect of the show") knew exactly how you could look at their relationship if you wanted to. plus, the show has always been very queer friendly (hell, there is a whole episode dedicated to gay okay. and jerry has been very vocally pro queer - especially on comedians in cars getting coffee *cough* - most noticeably in the episode with howard stern where he literally said: "i like gay." after HS asked him "why is everything gay with you?").
This is just my reading and probably also projecting but none of the characters read particularly straight to me. kramer is so special, he most of all is so above labels and societal norms - that's his whole thing (in Seinfeld!Jerry's words: he is a pod).
And as the show progresses and the characters, the writers and the audience all become more comfortable and accustomed with/to each other, jerry and kramer become increasingly domestic.
I have made a whole post about the tropes applied to them (I even think I forgot a couple) but the ones I love the most are: jerry being wife-coded in the episode "The Bizarro Jerry" // jerry being girlfriend coded in "The Apology" // meetcute trope also in "The Apology" // jerry being such a germaphobe but somehow always being okay with whatever unsanitary thing kramer is up to at any given moment // bed sharing in "The Wig Master" // a literal kiss (that wasn't played off as a joke) in "The Kiss Hello" // jerry taking kramer as his date to award shows & once on a holiday to tuscany despite being a notorious and chronic dater // the others noticing/commenting on their relationship-y behaviour (george's reaction to the kiss & his reaction to finding them in the shower together. elaine and jerry talking about settling down and saying "it's just gonna be you and kramer" "just me and kramer, huh?" & elaine commenting on their relationship trouble whenever one of them is sulking) // their co-dependency (it's being commented on in tiny moments throughout the show how much kramer needs jerry's friendship/love and kramer comments a few times how empty jerry's life would be without him)...
oh, i guess all of them are important to me haha. and they all come so easy to them. but here's the post i wrote a year ago on that. feel free to browse through my jerrykramer tag (or jerrymichael *cough*) or this blog to ogle at them.
I will leave you with this homosexual promo pic outtake, thanks for coming to my TED talk <3

March 2021
Today was the last day of filming Elvis, and it’s bittersweet. The entire cast has put in so much hard work, and now it’s coming to an end. But we’re all proud of what we’ve put into the movie. We’re all a little tired overall from the non-stop energy we’ve put into Elvis. So for today, we’re just going to chill out at Austin and I’s condo. Going out to celebrate will come at a later time.
“What was your favorite scene to film?” Dacre asks me, taking a sip of his beer while sitting on the couch in the living room.
Olivia is beside him with Austin on the other side, and I’m sitting on the floor in front of them, nursing a beer of my own. The additional sofa is taken up by Kodi and Xavier, who have joined in on our group shenanigans, and Luke is with them. The chair is taken by Tom, who is happily enjoying the glass of wine that Luke brought. Austin offered for me to sit on his lap, but I decided against it. Besides, everyone needs a little floor time.
“Hmm,” I say, picking at the beer label, “That’s a hard one. But probably the beginning of the Comeback Special. It was fun seeing Austin on stage,” I smile.
“Mine is probably the scene where Steve is just annoyed at the Colonel and keeps running through the sequences with him over his shoulder,” Dacre chuckles, and Tom turns the chair around.
“You definitely got Steve down-pat in that one. I personally enjoyed the International Hotel scenes,” Tom says.
“Luke did a great job at being Jerry,” Austin sips his whiskey, “Whatever I read about him that Luke hadn’t seen yet, I would forward to him.”
“I’d sometimes get emails and texts at three in the morning,” Luke says half-jokingly.
“At least he wasn’t sending memes at three in the morning to the group chat like someone I know,” Kodi says, eyeballing Xavier next to him.
“At least they were funny,” I defend, “Austin would send me Elvis TikToks and YouTube videos in the middle of the night, and I’d wake up to, like, twenty of the weirdest videos.”
“Are you saying they weren’t funny?” Austin pouts.
“You’ve sent me some too, and maybe half of them were entertaining,” Olivia chimes in.
Austin pretends to be hurt, and Dacre laughs at him. A comfortable silence falls over everyone.
The afternoon turns into evening, and conversation still flows until Austin suddenly bolts from his seat to the powder room. Everyone’s voices quiet down in concern. I get up from the floor and follow Austin, knocking on the door gently.
“Aus, you okay in there?”
My ear is pressed against the door, and I can hear him getting physically ill. I pull away from the door and open it before quickly shutting it back behind me. I kneel on the floor next to Austin and rub his back as he continues getting sick. When he’s done, he leans against the wall as he catches his breath, wiping his mouth with his wrist.
“All good?” I raise my eyebrows, eyeballing him with concern as he grabs my hand.
Austin nods wordlessly, letting his head loll back for a moment.
“Let’s get you some water and then get you to bed, okay? Everyone will understand,” I say, standing up and offering my hand to help him off the floor.
But Austin is too weak even to move. He groans, looking at me with glassy eyes. I quickly tell him I’d be right back, and I head to the living room to rally someone to help get him up.
“Is everything alright?” Kodi asks when I walk back into the living room, his brows furrowed in concern.
“I don’t think so. I actually need help getting Austin off the floor. He’s really sick,” I frown, and Steve, Luke, Kodi, and Xavier immediately stand up from their seats.
They all offer to help, and they follow me to the powder room where Austin sits, now barely conscious.
“Oh, mate. I think you need a hospital,” Luke grimaces and looks over at me.
“Yeah, he’s extremely dehydrated,” Steve points out, checking how quickly blood comes to the surface of Austin’s skin when he presses on it.
“Whatever we need to do to get him better. I’ve never seen him like this,” I say, my teeth worrying at my bottom lip.
Xavier and Luke help lift Austin up as Kodi and Steve make a clear path to the front door as I follow close behind. The rest of the group decides to leave but asks that I keep them updated. Luke and Xavier stay back to help me get him to the hospital. Luckily, Luke had driven to the condo, so we won’t have to walk a nearly passed-out Austin all the way there. I sit with Austin in the backseat, letting his head rest in my lap as I carefully run my fingers through his hair. He eventually does pass out on my legs, but Luke gets us to the emergency room as quickly as possible.
Luke, Xavier, and I anxiously waited for Austin’s name to be called out in the waiting room for what seemed like ages. After an hour of waiting, another hour is spent allowing nurses to pump Austin full of fluids in an infirmary room. Only I’m allowed back with him, so Luke and Xavier remain in the waiting area. Austin is still knocked out even when the doctor comes in. The doctor decides to admit him into the hospital due to extreme exhaustion. He suspects the constant work and energy Austin was putting into filming overexerted him, causing him to succumb to exhaustion. I never paid much attention to how little rest Austin was getting because he almost always threw himself into roles full force. But little did I know those times he was pretending to be asleep, his mind was wandering and reciting lines over and over.
I’m curled up in the hospital chair next to Austin’s bed when my eyes peel open. I check my phone, and it’s two in the morning. I quickly scroll through my notifications, and I’m about to shut my phone back off when I notice Austin move in the corner of my eye. He groans a little, rolling around in the bed as his eyes open.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” I joke, leaning over to grab his hand.
“Where am I?” Austin asks groggily, looking around the room, confused.
“You passed out after you got sick earlier, and we took you to the hospital,” I say, gently running my thumb over his knuckles.
“Is there something wrong?” Austin rubs his eyes, squeezing them shut before focusing them back on me.
“You’re exhausted, Aus,” I frown, “Why didn’t you tell me you were having a hard time?”
“I didn’t realize I was,” Austin says quietly, looking down at the pulse reader on his finger and the IV in his arm, “Is all of this necessary?”
“Yes, because you’re not well. The doctor wants to keep you here for a few days,” I bite my lip nervously, hoping Austin doesn’t get too upset about it.
He sighs, “Alright. I guess I do need to rest up now that filming is done.”
I nod in agreement, sighing in relief. I shoot a text to Luke and Xavier, who have long since left, as they asked me to update them as things happened. I also called the nurse, so she knows Austin is awake and alert. She hurries in and asks Austin some questions as she checks his vitals and fluids.
The next few days are steady as the doctor monitors Austin. Many crime TV shows are watched, and many card games are played over those few days. After the doctor is satisfied Austin has rested enough under his care, he decides we can go home, much to our relief. The shows and games can only do so much for boredom. We also needed to prepare for Cannes once Austin was feeling better.
I, for one, also needed to prepare for Cannes since I’d never done anything like it before. I guess we’ll see how that goes.
