logansargeant I am incredibly excited to announce that i'll be returning to formula one in the coming season to drive for Haas. I would like to thank Andretti for giving me three phenomenal seasons with IndyCar and two drivers championships. I wouldn't be here without your help and guidance. This a dream come true for me, and I cannot appreciate my wife enough for all the sacrifices she has made and love and support she has showered me with in the last seven years. in which, lando's bias opinion regarding the open red bull seat proves to stop a new friendship blossoming - until he proves himself wrong.

contains: unconscious bias, smallest bit of angst, shit-talking, carlos not to red bull (NOO), justice for logan because i give him an extra year in f2, mentions of christian horner (AH), social media, fluff, lando admitting he's wrong, mentions of struggles with mental health, williams not being shit.

carlos sainz jr's first choice was always going to be red bull. why wouldn't it be? the team was dominating the formula 1 world, and he was sure they wouldn't fuck him over like ferrari had many, many times.

but, tough luck for him.

before he could even think about getting into talks with christian and helmut - the world was rocked with the news of formula one's first female driver, moving to her dad's previous rival team.

senna hamilton might as well have broken the media. she was currently racing for williams alongside alex albon, but had no word from her superiors as to whether they were going to extend her contract with williams or whether there was any interest from mercedes.

so, she looked elsewhere.

and honestly, it came as a shock when her manager explained that christian horner wanted to arrange a meeting to discuss her seat for 2025 - due to sergio perez's less-than-admirable performance in the first half of the 2024 season.

either way, it was safe to say, that the hamilton family had given the world yet another reason to look forward to the 2025 season, and also given them all aneurysms in the process.

lando norris wasn't one for commenting on other driver's situations, but when it came to carlos sainz jr, he didn't hesistate as much as he usually would.

"so, lando, as we know you're good friends with carlos, and well, there's now one less team for him to go to - with senna going to red bull next year - can we just get your thoughts on that?" the blonde woman asked him, steadily holding the microphone out in front of him.

"well, obviously i think carlos deserves the best available seat possible, and that would have most likely been the red bull seat - so i think he should be in the red bull - but, i do think it will be interesting to see what senna can do in the red bull alongside max, but i'm just hoping that carlos can also get a good seat for next year." lando nodded, slightly stumbling over his words as his PR manager side-eyed him.

"okay, so you think that carlos deserves to be in the red bull?"

"yeah, i do - not that senna doesn't deserve the red bull seat, i'm sure she does, but i'm just going off how well i know each of them. obviously carlos and i have known each other since 2019, i've only known senna since 2022 and well, we don't really talk much." lando shrugged, pursing his lips.

"okay, thankyou lando." the woman nodded, before he and his PR manager headed back toward the mclaren hospitality.

his PR manager looked at the interviewer as the two walked away, she had a bad feeling about this.

meanwhile, the joyful tune of 'taste' by sabrina carpenter blasted out of senna's driver room in the mercedes garage, as the british girl bounced around her room, dancing to the song - when her PR manager, cameron, walked in.

"i've got some interesting news, sen."

well, as hard as lando tried not to give them that headline they so badly wanted - he somehow still did.

'senna doesn't deserve the red bull seat claims star formula 1 driver, lando norris.'

now, senna wasn't usually a confrontational person, but this was bang out of order, and she definitely didn't expect it from someone she didn't know that well. therefore, she requested a meeting with lando and his PR manager.

"so, would you like to explain this headline please?" senna asked as she slid a piece of paper over to him, the headline printed along with the article - she felt like she was interrogating someone in a james bond movie.

"what about it?" lando said gruffly, not entirely sure how to react to this situation.

"this is the equivalent of me saying you didn't deserve your win in miami, and then everyone agreeing with me, lando." she pursed her lips, earning a side-eye from her own manager.

"i don't really know what you want me to say?" the mclaren driver furrowed his eyebrows. "i never explicitly said that."

"i know, i watched the interview, but you might as well have." a soft scoff left her lips. "i don't actually care if you think i deserve the seat or not, i would just like you to undo this. i face enough prejudice and discrimination as it is, but i certainly didn't expect it from a fellow competitor, i'm disappointed quite frankly, lando."

her words hit like a tonne of fucking bricks - how could he be so fucking blind? lando thought that she'd asked for this meeting to have a go at him and tell him how wrong he was, but once again, he was wrong.

suddenly, he felt almost... sympathetic for her? yes, he also experienced a lot of hate online and he knew how much it affected his mental health - but if one of his competitors had said something like he had? he'd be a fucking wreck on the inside.

"oh, um, okay, yeah." he said, a little quieter as the realisations hit him. "yeah, i'm sorry, senna."

"i don't want an apology, lando." she shrugged, a small smile on her lips. "i just want this to go away."

"good morning lando." she smiled, sounding a little tired of his recent apology antics.

"i have an urgent question for you." he said, falling into step with her as they walked past the haas hospitality.

"go on." she nodded, walking straight past the williams garage.

"would you be so kind as to accompany me back to monaco this evening after the race?"

"you live in monaco, correct?" lando stood in front of her, maybe a foot or so away from her.

"and i also live in monaco, i've got a few extra spaces on my jet, and was wondering if you'd like to join me." he explained. "it'd be me, you, max, daniel, charles, and carlos."

"ah, okay, i see." she nodded. "what's brought this on?"

"well, since we're friends now, i thought- well i don't really know i just wanted to know if you wanted to come with us or not."

"uhm... yeah, okay." senna knew she was a little unsure at this sudden gesture, but she went along with it regardless. "i'll let my dad know, but yeah, thanks."

"cool!" lando smiled, trying to sound as nonchalant about it as possible - he failed miserably. "uh, we're meeting at the airport at eight in the evening, and there'll be food on the plane."

"right, okay." she responded as they began to walk again. "not to sound fussy or anything, but the food... there won't be any fish, will there?"

"ew, of course not, i hate fish." he almost grimaced at the thought, but then his brain immediately clocked onto the fact that she sounded as equally as disgusted as him at the idea. "i'm assuming you don't like fish either?"

"i'd rather skin myself alive than eat fish, lando."

"lando, shut up." senna groaned, internally praying people around her hadn't noticed that it was, in fact, her and lando.

"sorry, where is your positive attitude?" he teased, a sharp edge of sarcasm to his voice.

You sigh to yourself as you slump further into the seat of your desk.

"Uh oh, that doesn't sound good." Kurt appears on your desk, shocking you slightly.

"I've told you 100 times not to teleport onto my desk Wagner!" You point at him.

"Force of habit." He shrugs. "What troubles you liebling?"

"Charles. Kind of. He wanted so badly for mutants to have a safe haven and trying to create one is- overwhelming. I hope every god in every pantheon curses William Task and that whole damn company."

"What you're doing is working fine! You put too much pressure on yourself." He frowns.

"I just- I can't help but wonder does it make sense to isolate them this way though? Mutants are not a secret anymore. Would they be better off intermingled with the rest of the world?" You sigh.

"I don't follow, do you expect kids who do not even understand themselves to introduce themselves to a world that also does not understand them? It's not the professor's school, but that's not what is needed. We meet the mutants, we bring here where they are protected and guide them until they can ride the bike on their own. "Foster care?" You laugh.

"Obligatory collection because you made me promise that you get away from here at least two nights a week. Oh hey Kurt, you're here tonight?" Logan leans against the frame with his arms crossed.

"With Jean." Kurt nods.

"So the residents are in at least one set of capable hands, you ready?" Logan looks at you.

"My to-do list never seems to end." You say.

"Which means it'll still be there in the morning, after you've gotten a good night's sleep." Logan walks over and practically yanks you out of your chair.

"Wait- Logan I just-"

"Nope. I don't wanna hear it." He shakes his head cutting you off.

"Should you be pulling her-"

"If I don't get her out of here now you know and I know she'll never leave on her own and I don't plan on sitting around the office an extra 3 hours while she pleads with me to do 'just one more thing' over and over again." Logan says to Kurt.

"Oh don't do that you make me sound like an incurable workaholic." You kiss your teeth at him as you grab your keys and bag.

"You are! I have to make sure you don't sleep here! You'd be screwed if you lived alone." Logan says.

"Disagree! Kurt would you let me stay here 24/7 if we didn't all share a place?"

"Of course not liebling I would take you home myself if need be but I don't believe Logan would leave you either even if we didn't all live together." Kurt winks.

"I would." Logan scoffs.

"Thank you Kurt. I'd better go before the big bad wolf tries to blow my house down. Good luck tonight, call if you need anything!"

so williams has replaced logan . james made the move , and replaced logan as has been rumoured this whole year .

here are my thoughts .

firstly , i'd like to say that logan never had the opportunity to show his talents . i feel like the first time we truly saw what logan could do was in las vegas last year , when he qualified p7 . that felt like logan , like his true capabilities . since then he hasn't been given the tools necessary to improve or to do well in f1 . in some way , good that they dropped him , because they only kept pushing his head further under the water as the season went on . he's been treated awfully this entire season and i think everyone can see that ,, especially after australia .

secondly , congratulations to franco , though i don't know how good of an idea it was to sign a driver in his rookie year of f2 . i don't know much about fraco , but i do hope this won't be another logan situation .

on that note , i think this was probably the most idiotic move that james could have ever made . replacing logan , who was shoved into f1 way too early , with a driver just halfway through his rookie season in formula 2 isn't going to go well , in my opinion . they're looking for an ollie bearman situation , but the problem is that ollie was driving a ferrari whereas franco will be driving a williams . and williams has such a bad car that it's quite honestly offensive to cars everywhere to call that thing a car .

i was also told by my mom who saw an article about the news that they replaced logan because of the damage costs from crashes , and that updates were constantly behind because of "all the damage logan caused throughout the year" which is funny considering that the majority of damage this year was due to alex's crash in australia and then the crash alex had following that in suzuka with daniel . i love alex so much and i will always root for him but the damages from those two crashes were major . hence , them being behind on the budget because of those two crashes . that's not to say logan didn't crash and add to that , but the majority of the budget problems did come from the crashes in australia and suzuka when you think about it . so to say that they dropped logan because of the crash in the netherlands feels so utterly idiotic to me .

i genuinely feel like this wasn't very well thought out and that , in some way , because mercedes and redbull were so quick to tell james oh yeah we'll give you our reserve drivers then james was under the impression that he should / it's okay for him to replace logan all of the sudden . but the truth is that it isn't okay and the way he's treated logan since the end of last year to now is awful . it's like he only viewed logan as a seat-warmer for the love of his life carlos sainz .

to which i say that i have a lot of thoughts on how james talks about carlos and how weird and absolutely unprofessional it is . like it's genuinely getting so weird how he talks about carlos and the fact james' wife was concerned.... but that's for another post !!

all in all i am absolutely devastated for logan . when i found out i was walking to my next class and started hyperventilating so hard i nearly passed out in the middle of the courtyard 😭 i've been on and off crying literally all day and this news was the worst . and it's literally my birthday tomorrow which made it so much worse . i think that in the end we have to wait and see and perhaps we'll find that this was a good thing for logan , that he'll be able to go somewhere where he is truly appreciated and can show how talented he is .

i don't think logan would see my silly rants on here but if he does for whatever reason then i hope he knows that he's loved and appreciated . that we'll always support him and stand by him . he will forever and always be my favorite driver , no matter where he goes .

i'll still be posting about logan on here , perhaps just news that i find in the coming weeks or when we find out where logan is going then i'll post about that . or i'll just be posting cutie patootie photos of logan i find on pinterest :)

Carlos is signing with Williams for 2025, 2026… and beyond.

Williams’ post first pops up after Oscar reloads Instagram. He feels his entire body jerk upward as he does a double take, he quickly cross checks with the official F1 instagram.

It’s true.

Holy shit.

Oscar stares at the phone as his mind races through all his stray thoughts. His first instinct is to open Logan’s chat, but he freezes.

He doesn’t really talk with Logan anymore.

What is he even going to say?

His fingers hover over the keyboard. All the former thoughts disappeared in a second. Oscar turns off his phone and places it on his bed.

He takes a deep breath, trying to connect all his thoughts instead of them being a messy jumble of nonsense. Somewhere in his endless web of thoughts has to be something genius he’s going to tell Logan.

He opens the chat again and doesn’t take a second thought before sending the message. His fingers glide over the keyboard, quickly typing out the sentence and sending it.

Oscar shuts off his phone right after, hoping there won’t be a sinking feeling of regret.

Logan lies flat on his bed, his breathing steady as his chest rises and falls. He counts slowly in his head, which is the only thing keeping him from spiralling out of control.

He places both hands on his chest, ensuring there is a constant rise and fall.

He can’t cry. Not yet. Not now.

The counting doesn’t seem to cover up the replaying scene in his head: James sits him down, the room is tense and solemn, James looks Logan dead in the eye and drops the news.

“Logan, we have decided we will not be signing you for next year.”

Logan freezes. He feels the blood in his body freeze into ice, his entire body tenses up. As much as everything prepared him for this moment, none of it really did. It’s a different feeling from just thinking about it.

Right now, he was sat in a tense, silent room, face to face with a man he once called his hero.

Logan forces out a smile and nods.

“Thank you for everything.”

Logan feels a sting in his eyes as tears start to well up. He swiftly wipes them off using his sleeve.

He’s been lying here for the past 10 minutes. He checks the clock, it’s been about 3 minutes since the world found out.

Logan didn’t know what to do anymore, the ceiling fan spun above him, slowly fading into one messy blur.

He taps his fingers on his chest and hums a generic melody. He shuts his eyes tightly, restraining himself from doing something rash.

Logan was at a loss. He didn’t like the feeling.

Last time he was at a loss, Williams was there to help him. This time, they were the reason he was at a loss.

It was like a harsh, cruel, merciless cycle.

A team which once helped him through the toughest times in his career, ended up creating some of his toughest moments. He once viewed them as his family, a team which could do him no wrongs.

Then everything came crashing down, some false and fake facade. 

His phone dings and he sits up.

He checks it.

Oscar: This is so wrong.  Oscar: Do you wanna talk about it?

Oscar? Oscar, of all people?

Logan takes a deep breath and opens the message. He contemplates for a while on what he should say in response.

Logan: I take it this is about the contract signing.

Oscar immediately comes online, which is pretty comforting this time around.

Oscar: Yes

Oscar: They are so wrong for that

Logan feels a warmth bubble in him. It’s from Oscar.

It’s from Oscar. 

Oscar Piastri, race winner, McLaren F1 driver, prodigy, unimaginable rookie year, Lewis Hamilton reincarnate.

And what was Logan? What was Logan to Oscar now that his F1 seat wasn’t even in his own grasp?

Logan stares blankly at the screen. 

Logan: I don’t know what to do

He remembered how he used to turn to Oscar for everything, now he didn’t even know if Oscar was going to be there for him.

He remembered how both of them made a promise to win a race in F1 together, to make it together in F1.

Before Oscar replies, Logan sends another message.

Logan: I’m so proud of you. Logan: You achieved our dream.

A teardrop stains Logan’s screen, he instantly swipes it off.

Oscar just hearts the messages.

It takes him another few seconds to reply.

Oscar: I hate how this turned out.

Logan chuckles as his eyes start to tear up, his vision growing blurry.

Everything he did to get into F1, all the hard work, sleepless nights, endless practice, just for this.

The friends he made along the way, the people he trusted, the places he called home. Everything came flooding back to him, all the flashbacks, just like a roll of film, all of them were replaying in his head.

This was his dream. F1 was his dream.

Oscar: You deserve better.

A soft sniffle and sob escapes Logan’s mouth. He wipes away the tears and texts Oscar back.

Logan: Did I ever do anything wrongly?

Logan feels a rising, burning sensation of guilt, regret and despair.

Oscar: Are you still in your room? Logan: yea Oscar: Stay there.

A few minutes pass before there’s a knock on the door. Logan lifts his head from between his knees and stands up, he wipes away his tears and takes a deep breath before going to the door.

He mentally prepares a strong front, just in case.

He opens the door and smiles.

“Logan.” Oscar’s voice is soft.

Logan’s smile cracks slightly as he lets Oscar in.

“Hi.” Logan manages.

Oscar doesn’t say anything and just as Logan closes the door, he hugs him.

His arms are wrapped around Logan, a warm embrace fuzzling between both of them.

Logan’s strong front immediately dissolves into nothing as he starts sobbing violently. He leans his head onto Oscar’s shoulding, wetting his shirt with tears.

Oscar continues holding onto Logan, his tight grip around Logan’s chest. He holds back his own tears.

He knows Logan deserved so much better.

“I should’ve checked in earlier.” Oscar admits, his voice cracking, “I should’ve asked how you were doing…”

Oscar feels his throat starting to sting.

Logan doesn’t respond instantly, but in between sobs he manages to get out a few words.

“You didn’t have to.”

A wave of guilt engulfs Oscar as he grips tighter.

“You have to fight Logan, please Logan, fight.” 

“It’s over Oscar… It’s over.”

“We’re gonna figure this out Logan.” Oscar tears up, “Together, alright?”

“Give me another chance Logs.” Oscar looks at Logan in the eyes as they both take a step out of the hug.

Logan looks Oscar in the eyes and nods subtly.

“I don’t know what I did wrong.” Logan says.

“Nothing. You did nothing wrong.” Oscar insists, “Williams did everything wrong to you.”

Logan finds it hard to believe.

“Listen to me.” Oscar says before taking a deep breath, “You and me, we’re gonna figure this out.”

Logan can’t stop his tears anymore.

“Just like when we were kids, when we figured things out together, you know.” Oscar says.

“I messed up hard for the past year or so, but I promise that we’re going to make it through this together.”

Logan can feel despair and bitterness mixed together with warmth and happiness bubbling in his own heart.

“Please?” Oscar begs.

“Promise?” 

“Promise. I promise with all my heart.”

Logan takes another deep breath and then cleans the dried tears scattered on his cheeks.

Oscar can’t help but feel the sting in his own heart. His best friend, things panned out differently for both of them, immensely different.

“I’m sorry it had to be like this…” Oscar steps closer to Logan and holds onto his hands.

Logan flinches, moving his hand back, but then holds Oscar’s hand after a second.

“I trusted Williams…” Logan says, “They didn’t even give me a proper farewell…”

Oscar knows.

“One post. One line.” Logan says, his fists clenching, “That’s all they could do.”

Oscar sighs, “They don’t deserve any part of you.”

“You’re an amazing, wonderful, and perfect person.” Oscar says as Logan continues to grip tighter onto his hands, “Williams just couldn’t see that.”

“What will I do now?” Logan says, his grip loosening slightly.

Oscar wasn’t going to lie, “I don’t know.”

Logan’s face falls.

“I’m sorry.” Oscar says, and repeats it a few times.

“You don’t have to be.”

“I’ll make it right.” Oscar says.

He was going to. There was no way he was letting Logan go through this alone, not now, not ever.

Both of them sat on Logan’s bed together. Logan’s head was resting on Oscar’s shoulder as they sat in silence.

It wasn’t tense silence.

It was a calm silence.

Oscar looks over at Logan and watches his breathing stabilise after that chaos of emotions talking about Logan’s own feelings.

He truly did not wish Logan had to go through this.

Oscar glides his fingers through Logan’s hair, the blonde streaks getting gently caressed by Oscar. 

This is what Logan deserves.

This is what Logan needed.

Logan adjusts himself slightly and looks up at Oscar, who smiles gently.

“We’ll figure it out.” Oscar says.

And for some reason, Logan knows it’s true. He knows the warm embrace he feels next and he recognises the calm breathing on his neck.

Logan gave everything to Williams, for them to tear him apart.

“Do you think things could’ve turned out differently?” Logan asks, fiddling with his shirt.

“I would choose another version in a heartbeat, if it meant doing things with you.” Oscar replies, without hesitation.

A smile creeps up Logan’s face.

Right…

“I would too.” Logan says, a small chuckle escaping his lips.

Oscar smiles, he’s glad that his presence was something good for Logan.

It was. Oscar was comforting, everything Logan needed right now.

Logan shifts closer to Oscar, pressing himself right up against Oscar. Oscar smiles, pulling Logan in.

This is warm.

“It’s going to be okay.” Oscar says.

And Logan believes it.

Oscar’s going to fix every wound, every stab, every scar that life has inflicted on him.

SO. for the longest time I've been so hooked on the idea of Alex and Lily coaxing Logan into a very tender and deeply caring relationship, but Logan misreading their advances as just playful flirting or like attempts at just a threesome. which he's totally fine with because, well, they're both really hot if Logan is being honest with himself (especially if like. Logan isn't quite sure how he feels about men; he knows he likes women for sure, and men are similar but just to a lesser degree- the idea of dating another man doesn't quite revolt him as much his buddies back home seem to feel. also, Alex is the first man Logan is interested in actually dating, not just fooling around with, which is a little startling for him)

I imagine like... Alex constantlyyyy flirts with Logan and of course, Logan just passes it up as Alex's humor, a brittle attempt at making their workplace environment a little less downtrodden, less like a burden and more like something to look forward to. because Logan does look forward to it. working with Alex is fun, and it's nice to actually feel like someone in Williams cares about him, desires him enough to express it even if it is just a joke half the time (most of the time)

but then Alex's advances start feeling a little too.. touchy, and Logan, being the ridiculously and nauseatingly considerate person he is, begins feeling a little concerned because, does Lily know this is going on? does Lily know that her boyfriend is actively flirting with another man? does Lily know that her boyfriend is staring at him from across the room like he wants to pin Logan to the wall like a butterfly in a shadowbox? it's just a lot of feelings and while Logan is pleased to have so much of Alex's attention on him, he's really concerned for Lily

so, Logan decides that he doesn't think it's the right thing to do to just text Lily about it (+ he doesn't even have her phone number so) bcuz he has like. a weird complex about texting the girlfriend of the guy who's been lowkey trying to get into his pants for a few months so. anyways. fast forward and it's a race weekend and Lily is there, and so Logan is like "oh perfect I can tell her about Alex acting weird and everything will go back to normal and I'll stop feeling this weird feeling in my chest!" plot twist. Lily actually finds Logan first so she can ask him to dinner that night with Alex to this nice restaurant! (the one that Alex actually brought up in that one episode of team torque, the one that he said that Lily said "Logan would like that place" wink wink) and Logan, of course, is cornered by this beautiful woman who is asking him to go out with her and her equally beautiful boyfriend who Logan has lowkey been lusting after for weeks. and the feeling in his chest doesn't go away

SO. Logan somehow ends up at this nice restaurant, all dressed up, sitting at a table with two also very dressed up people who happen to be a) very attractive and b) dating. and Logan kind of wants to hide in the bathroom for the rest of the night bcuz he feels strangely like a third wheel while also feeling like the two of them are trying to crawl into his skin. they keep looking at him all soft and expecting, and Lily keeps slipping her hand on his thigh underneath the table, and Logan is wondering if Alex is aware of it, and now he's feeling stuck because he thought that Alex was maybe trying to cheat on Lily, but now Lily is the one acting like a hound with her hands feeling all too hot against Logan's thigh

by the time Logan works up the courage to excuse himself to the bathroom, Alex beats him to the punch and excuses himself first, which is like a big 'ah shit' moment because is it weird to go to the bathroom at the same time? and also it would probably be in bad form to leave a woman at a table alone when you're out together, right? and also this gives Logan the opportunity to talk to Lily about how Alex has been acting; so Logan swallows the beehive in his throat and turns to Lily all like "hey by the way your boyfriend has been persistently flirting with me and touching my ass and looking at me like he wants to kiss me and coddle me and turn me into a bowl of sticky rice and that he then wants to eat" all in one breath and Lily can't help but laugh, and it leaves Logan feeling really silly

and she of course leaves her hand on his thigh, and then bats her eyelashes before confirming that, yes, she's aware that her boyfriend is flirting with him, and then also confirms something doubly insane; she's the one orchestrating most of it. then Logan learns that while, yes, Alex has a big fat crush on him, Lily is also pretty interested.

at first, Logan feels really dumb, but he also feels confused, because it sounds like they both want something really complex from him, but there's no way that they actually want to date him, right? they're just in it for a threesome. right?

and then oops, Logan verbalizes all that, but this time, Lily doesn't laugh, and she instead moves her hand from his thigh up to his bicep, and the look in her eyes is all too serious when she says that they don't just want him for a good fuck. they dont even know if Logan is a good fuck at all, but they do know that they're insanely interested and that Alex has been wanting Logan in a very Not Normal way for a loooong time and Lily finds Logan horribly endearing (+ it would be nice to have another American to help her team up on Alex every now and again) and so. the offer is on the table

and then the night goes on, and Logan simultaneously feels wayyy more relaxed but also like he has ice cubes in his pants which are melting. currently. and very fast. and then he goes to bed that night and he can't stop thinking about their proposal the entire time that he's trying to fall asleep. and then he can't stop thinking about it when he wakes up, and then the day after, and the day after that. and it becomes a whole thing that Logan is having an increasingly hard time dealing with on his own

and then. 2024 happens, and it continues to happen, and then Logan gets fired. and he doesn't have any idea what to do other than to show up at Alex's door on the night he gets the news, and Alex has no idea, but when he gets an arm full of Logan, he doesn't say anything. he doesn't comment on the bags under Logan's eyes or the lingering, tacky layer of sweat all over his body because he couldn't bring himself to shower after being cleared from medical. and when Logan tells him, he can feel Alex's entire body tense up at the news, like he was just thwacked hard with a whip across the small of his back

and then it's kind of weird after that. Alex goes to see Logan immediately after the race as quickly as he can, but unfortunately he can't stay long, and so he gives Logan Lily's phone number and tells him to give her a call, that it'll help to have someone to talk to who hasn't been through something so painfully similar before, and then Alex leaves. and Logan calls Lily as soon as he boards his plane to Florida

and then it just turns into a thing, sort of. the two of them talk, and Alex is there sometimes in bed with her, or just generally around, ruminating in their shared hotel room all the while Logan lies in his own bed, shirtless and vacant but feeling a little less empty than before

and then when his friends ask who hes talking to, he shrugs, because even he doesn't really know. is Lily his friend? a strange sort of therapist? his girlfriend? the last one puts a lot of knots in Logan's chest, knots that he can't untangle right now, and so when people ask, he just says 'a friend'. which still doesn't feel quite right but it's better than telling them 'my ex teammates girlfriend of 6 years who I've been talking to almost every hour of the day since I was fired'. that would sound really bad

but then he kind of starts thinking about it, especially when Lily sits on FaceTime in nothing but her bra and a lazy pair of athletic shorts as they chat, or when Alex answers her phone instead, obviously still in bed and shirtless and Logan can hear the shower running in the other room. Logan lets himself think about what they might've been doing, or what they might have not been doing, and it doesn't freak him out as much as he thought it might would, or how much he thinks it should

and so he brings it up. reminds them of the idea of dating, even if it is long distance, and Alex snorts because 'great, balancing a long distance girlfriend wasn't enough, I definitely need a long distance boyfriend, too' and it makes Logan snort and roll his eyes, and everything feels really natural and good and nothing like how it all did a few months ago, back at the restaurant when Logan felt like he was going to choke on his own tongue

and then that's it. they talk whenever they can, and Alex starts telling him about all the embarrassing things Lily does, and Lily in turn does it for Alex, and Logan can't help but laugh because he already knew about most of the things that Alex does, and Lily cracks a joke about them already dating behind her back, and that she should've heeded Logan's warning all those months ago, and it's good

Logan starts telling his friends that he's talking to his girlfriend whenever they ask, and his boyfriend whenever they ask again, and he deals with the funny looks and the questions, and its not nearly as horrible as he thought it would be

and that's the plotline that has been eating away at me since. May. MAY. and the primary reason I haven't written it is just that like... long fics are so hard for me and I just know I'd get burnt out, and that would lead to a whole lot of grief about failing and yadda yadda, but I'm glad I could finally yap about it :)

Volks: Not the BEST with parents but it def goes a lot smoother once his mom is there (if we're introducing parents, he wants her to be involved), seeing how much of a good dude he is with his mom and how much he clearly loves you wins parents over

Kelby: another safe choice when it comes to parents. He's always going to be one of the more nervous ones but he eventually nails it

Eli: parents either love him or hate him there is no in between. This also goes for all of his friends-- their parents either LOVE having Eli around or Eli is like that loud neighbor kid that won't leave but is too nice to just--- kick out ya know??

Anon: I feel like Anon has to lean the most on how he'd take care of his s/o and how he's a real sound as a partner financially. He's not got the GREATEST people skills. Like-- he's not offending anyone but he's not always gonna click with them either. Like after he leaves I could see your parents being like 'well, at least he has a steady income...'

Garrett: Parents love him. LOVE HIM. He's just a good romantic choice and is a sweet little bean-- what's there to not love?

Dmitri: ehhhh-- he's a bit on the flirty side so that might not be a great start, but he's very clearly passionate about loving you and is serious about making you happy, and I feel like that would win parents over in the end.

Ichiban: another one that I feel like parents would either love or hate. Like he's got a really big personality, and I could see not all parents jelling with that. Plus some people (especially the older generations) aren't that down with streamers??? So idk, I feel like it's a toss up. Either he'd charm them or annoy them, there'd be no in between.

William: a parent's DREAM. Good job, great personality, very charming and respectful. A parent HOPES their child ends up with someone like him!

He’d started with flowers. He remembered that she liked orange, so he had gifted her some orange lilies, yellow carnations and tiger lilies. The florist had looked at him very weird when he’d asked for those 3 flowers, but wrapped it nonetheless. He’d had no response after leaving them at Logan’s front door, despite the note also left. Lily had looked at him like he was an idiot when he told her what he did.

Then there were some bad jokes sent to her phone. All left on read. Okay maybe sending her some jokes from a book titled ‘bad dad jokes for dads’ was a bad idea but he had just hoped that they would make her laugh. Lily once again looked at him like he was stupid and Alex had also laughed at him when he told them.

He was never taking relationship advice from then.

He started talking to Logan again. It had been a little awkward because he had been broken up with by his sister, but they managed. He was a good running partner and seemed to be able to differentiate between George, his friend, and George, his sister’s ex boyfriend. Alex had smiled and Oscar had winked when they all went out for dinner together. Lewis just waggled his eyebrows.

He googled the flowers. Okay, maybe sending her a bouquet full of hateful flowers was a bad idea. He made sure to actually consult the florist and instead gave her some orange roses, frangipanis and alstroemerias. She answered the door this time and smiled when she saw the flowers.

She invited him in. Talked to him at the kitchen table where he’d made her pancakes on one of the few cheat days that lined up together. She put the flowers in a vase on the table. He could see the old flowers chucked in the bin. She gave a sheepish smile when she followed his gaze to the bin. He couldn't remember what exactly she said, but he left with tickets for her next Arsenal game in his coat pocket.

He went for another jog with Logan that week. Then joined him in the friends and family box for the Arsenal game. Then he went to the Paris Olympics to cheer her on for her second place medal. In return she had come to Miami and cheered him on from the Williams garage. Then she had come to COTA and cheered her brother on from the Mercedes garage. George and Logan had laughed about that.

“Well, now that I’m banned from the Williams and Mercedes garage, I guess it is time to finally time to say, I love you Russel George.”

“Does this mean I'm forgiven?”

“I suppose so.”

Okay so as a Logan Sargeant fan, I clearly have some thoughts. Tbh my interest in F1 this season has been really low (because it's extremely boring) and this kinda makes me not even wanna watch Monza. I was actually really looking forward to this weekend (F3 final round) but now everything is just making me feel uneasy. If I'm being honest, I wish they never would have signed Logan for this year. He could've had a WEC seat or something for this year and saved himself from all this drama. Putting aside for the moment my thoughts on his performance. This sucks for him as a person. I cannot imagine what it would be like showing up for work every week and getting so many mixed signals of if you have job security or even support from your boss, and then literally everything ever said about you in the media or online is so extremely negative and rude. Then to be dropped this way just really makes me lose all respect for Williams. I am not against mid season dropping, but I have literally never seen it handled well (except tbh I feel like jhr handled Canapino pretty well and Meyer Shank just like barely acknowledged it, which somehow worked for them??? I guess???). I do feel like Logan's bad performance is extremely exaggerated, but I am also a fan so I'm probably a little more biased, but I don't think he's been doing that terrible. Like I'm not saying he's doing good by any means and I completely understand why they would want to drop him, but it's not like they're actually ever fighting for points. Like Williams is trash and they are not fighting for points like ever. Franco Colapinto is not going to score them points. Alex Albon is barely scoring them points. I get James Vowles doesn't like Logan and I can see why he would be dropped. It just doesn't make sense to me to bring in Franco Colapinto who has done half a season in f2 and one free practice. Like he's not really gonna perform super well (I am a Colapinto fan I hope he does amazing I'm just trying to be realistic) and he's not in competition for a seat right now so he's going to what? go back to f2? be a reserve driver? have a horrible 9 races and then no one wants to sign him? Does amazing and no one wants to sign him? it makes no sense to me. Tbh I'm more mad about them putting Franco in with so little preparation and experience, than I am about them dropping Logan. Idk none of this probably made sense but I'm trying to do college and write this post and it's kind of stressing me out. If Franco does amazing and gets a shot with another team I am going to be so thrilled and excited. If he doesn't do super great and his career gets shot I am going to be so much more angry at Williams.

this is my last ask to stop annoying you. i don’t know franco a lot but doing these things leaves a sour taste in our mouths as jack fans. because if roles were reserved (franco had the seat and jack got signed), his fans would be upset at it just like we are. imagine jack acting entitled like that, completely disregarding franco and disrespecting him. not only that, but being fully aware that his fans are harassing someone and staying quiet. but then you have the knowledge of him making fun of logan by liking those posts. all three of them worked their whole lives for this, you know? it is heartbreaking to see jack be treated so badly, just like logan was. they are humans with feelings. they were out there wishing death and harm upon him, calling him names. and then they turn around and play victims? it’s hard to be civil and not despise someone after witnessing all that. i’m just really worried about jack and what thay will do to his mental health. kid is under so much pressure and scrutiny. it’s just awful and there is nothing we can do about it. franco won’t tell them to stop and they will continue to go after him even if he no longer has a seat, just like they ruined logan’s post about the new series he’s racing in. and we will also suffer the consequences of it because that will drive him away from social media and from us, and i think it’s really hard to come back from that after suffering this much hate. i just wish he had better because he deserves better. he deserved to be excited and happy and enjoy his dream, not this. he deserved to share his thoughts about living the dream with us, his fans, and not be called nasty things or threatened because of it. he deserved so so so much better.

Oh sorry anon, I didn't realize it was the same you who was sending all these asks. I'm not annoyed, just tired and disappointed. Alpine is a mess.

But yeah, that's all very true. Unfortunately I can't speak for my team since we got Sainz (who I am... not looking forward to) and Franco left. I grew on Franco (after some time) because he's from Williams. Now I just... can't. Jack is literally the only good thing in Alpine (since Esteban, their best driver, hit the jackpot and left for a better team, in all regards and especially how they treat their drivers, Haas) and now he's going to have to pack his bags soon. The Franco move is very weird too. Williams are unstable surely but other than the fluke p6 in the constructors and podium at Brazil, Alpine have been terrible all season too. In fact, dare I say, Alpine's situation has only gotten worse over the years are the conditions of everything has gone down and people kept leaving. Briatore was banned and is now back because...? Idk? He shouldn't be back though, especially not in this downward spiral of a team that will only get worse. It's a bad decision unless he had to know about Jack's contract earlier on, which then makes it fishy...

But whereever Jack goes, so will I. I'm watching ELMS for Logan too (and also fun fact, if it wasn't cancelled, I was going to be this 🤏 close to seeing Logan at his debut ELMS race in Barcelona... but now I can't) and ofc I will hope Jack does well for his limited chances too. It was always against him. Alpine hate their academy and their drivers that aren't named Pierre Gasly or now Franco Colapinto. But, we move. It's unethical and strange. The best thing one can wish for is for this team to go bankrupt.

Summer break!

Got to watch only half of spa BUT I feel so bad for George :( I was really hoping he'd get the win since he worked so hard this time, and gen was able to keep Lewis at bay for so long, but Merc of had to mess up. Good for Lewis tho, and we got a Ferrari podium finally!

Also, yes, the driver market is going crazy rn.

Personally, I DID NOT see Carlos coming. I'm happy I guess that he's got a seat, but tbh he isn't one I'm so interested on. I'm definitely confused, though, because it would've been better if they put Kimi Antonelli (Italian rookie F2 driver, has 2 wins so far, and skipped F3) in a Williams and Carlos in a Merc so that Kimi wasn't rushed too much, as we've seen with Logan. But, since Merc has an amazing car recently, I am happy for an Italian to have a seat and potentially a good career ahead of him. But Kimi himself said recently that he doesn't want to rush into F1, so does this mean he's looking to complete another F2 season? That would make sense, tbh.

I've been trying to predict the seats, but honestly it is WAY harder than I imagined. I'm hoping Valtteri and Zhou still have seats for next year, but it's probable that Valtteri will not, honestly, and I hate it :(

I think Sauber hasn't chosen them yet because they want to wait until the end of the season and see if any of them score points, probably. Also, I am PRAYING that Liam Lawson gets that RB seat. He deserves it so much since his performance last season clearly showed, and no offense to DR fans, but he isn't getting back to where he was. Yuki is constantly performing better, and people NEED to stop sleeping on Yuki just because Daniel has a dream. He's a great guy, but personally, that's what I think.

Then, in the alpine seat I'm hoping for either Mick Schumacher or Jack Doohan, I think they would fare well. Everyone calls Alpine a tractor but tbh they have improved since the start of the year and are mid field - slightly upper mid field every race.

Now, we can enjoy summer break without hopefully having to worry about anymore seats surprises and potential heartbreaks!

I did. some thinking, and realised that Williams don’t have as many options to replace logan as the media portrays.

Firstly, Felipe Drugovich is an Aston Martin Academy driver, and he is in fact the only one so far as i’ve heard. Aston Martin would definitely not let him go, because if they had to find someone to replace Lance or perhaps Fernando in 2025, he would be the first choice.

Secondly, Mick Schumacher has had strong rumours to be running in WEC for Alpine, which means that he is unable to race in f1 at all if the rumours come out as true. Although Toto is pressuring James to bring Mick in, I don’t think James would have a change of mind

Thirdly, Williams did make a statement that they want to solely focus on their academy drivers, so Fred, Liam are automatically out. I love the guys, but they have tied themselves to other teams. Besides, Williams actually does have four more academy drivers in formula 3, but none of them are the level where they can skip f2 and automatically join f1. they are great, Zak o Sullivan finished P2 in the championship actually, which is great but I think he needs to go through some more racing experience in the feeder series before he can compete with Logan for the seat.

So most likely, Logan is safe and secured for his seat, I feel like media has been continuously throwing random rumours out of nowhere because they are so desperate to find out the lineup of 2024.

Besides, it’s not that Logan has been doing absolutely shite — yes, he crashed a lot of times and as a logan fan I do believe he needs to clean it up quickly, but I feel like most of the time it’s bad luck. sometimes it is his fault, but a lot of times he either gets nicked or conditions screw his race up. Taking Qatar sprint for example, since he’s running old spec it is not as resistant against the windy conditions as Alex’s car is, but at least he didn’t shag it into the barriers and his car is safely in one piece, which is quite great. It also not like he’s the only drivers that was affected by the wind yesterday, so I don’t get why people are blaming him for losing grip to the wind. He is a rookie and his weak point is that he takes more time to adjust to a track or to a car, and this sprint format did not help at all, which is FIAs fault anyway.

In fact, I believe he is spectacular at trying to improve during the timing sessions like quali and Sprint Shootout, he’s done pretty well and even in the sprint he was chasing Alex. In a track like this, not suitable for his car or even for others, it is good to see him improve.

Overall, I firmly believe that he is secured for 2024 and I hope he can restart afresh for next year and do really well, as well as hoping the car is good for next year to help him even more.

i agree with everything you said. he was actually doing great the entire weekend, during quali and practice he never had any deleted lap times. however he really struggled when the track limits were adjusted yesterday. but that is to be expected i guess, if you’re a rookie and was only given 10 minutes to adjust to the new limits. even Liam struggled too. Oscar is in another league, of course.

as for the possible replacements, I think Williams won’t replace him, but if they will i think they will go with Drugo. but even that is so far fetched. as you’ve said, AM is kind of hesitant to let him go, and some reports suggest that there’s something going on behind the scenes in AM with Lance. also Williams will not replace their own rookie for another rookie who’s not affiliated with them. i just don’t see it. Mick might be with Alpine WEC next year, if you noticed they’ve been posting him a lot in their socials. Liam will not leave Red Bull especially now that he’s basically guaranteed an AT seat in 2025. Helmut hinted very recently that he’s losing confidence with Checo, so Liam might be in that AT seat even before 2025. the reason why i think Drugo is the closest option is because of the fact that he had rejected every guaranteed seat that was offered to him in Indy and FE for next year. the reason for that is either he believes he has a good shot for the Williams seat or he just made a really, really bad decision.

also, have you watched Logan’s interviews lately? he seems not bothered at all. even after the sprint race yesterday. either he’s confident that he can hit James’ targets or he knows something we don’t.

speaking of targets. in James’ recent interview, he said he’ll give Logan until the end of the season to prove himself. it’s really nice that they are giving Logan all the time and opportunity, so we might not hear anything until Abu Dhabi. just like last year when Logan got his super license in the exact same track 😉

Australia unserious serious race overview

If you're new here i decided to do a short recap of each race after it's done on here, mostly for my own sake so I dont forget what happened in each race.

This recap will be less unserious since the results were 😐 not by my liking and I have serious topics to cover.

1. Ferrari

Oohhh boy. Do I have thoughts.

Most of my thoughts are summed up in this post I made discussing how Charles not attacking was not due to team orders and how attacking would not have helped him. Now I'd rather move on from this since every time I think about who won I want to cry.

I am really pissed off today but not because of ferrari and team orders but because the one time charles is out of the front row in 8 races Max DNFs thus giving everyone else a chance. I know, I know I should want Charles to beat Max on track and that's probably what Charles wants also BUT it does not erase the fact that cs55 is so lucky with his front row starts that he is now 2/2 qualis he was better than Charles in the last 10 races that lead to Max/Red Bull having issues. What kind of luck do you have on your side? And can the rest of us get some?

On the positive side Charles is now closer in the championship to Max than any driver has been probably since Bahrain 2023 lol. And I will choose to look on the bright side and remember that after Singapore Charles obliterated Carlos in every single race and hope that this one sparks a similar fire in him. You got this Charlie.

2. Mclaren

They were good I guess. They had no one to fight with thanks to Mercedes. I feel like they had a slightly better race than the last 2. I will not talk about the team orders since they did undercut Lando with Oscar's strategy in the beginning. So I have.. no opinion on it. Especially since Oscar made a big mistake towards the end that everyone kinda overlooked with everything that happened after. He would not have been on the podium either way. He lost a lot of seconds there I dont remember how much but it was a lot. Lando would've overtaken for sure.

3. Aston Martin

Stroll had an amazing drive here 🙌. I like to hate on him sometimes but not today. Amazing quali amazing drive great points.

Alonsos move in the end? Extremely dangerous to do on a street track surrounded by walls. I'm happy he got the penalty (although I didn't expect 20 fucking seconds????? Idk what is happening with the penalties being so harsh this year but I like it)

4. Red Bull

Poor Maxie. We are so not used to seeing this that it felt like a fever dream. What the fuck happened? And on the race he was supposed to match his streak 😭. Anyway he'll live. At least now he gets to fight Charles (yes I'm delulu what about it)

Perez was invisible. Were RB slow here or is Perez just mid? Well I guess we'll never know (but we can take a wild guess). He could not pass the Mclarens? Really?

5. RB

YUKI TSUNODA THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!!!!! I can not explain to you guys how happy I am with 6 points for Yuki jgjejxjwnd that's insane.

Daniel did ok I guess. He had a more difficult drive too but I only care about Yuki today. So so happy.

6. Haas

Did you guys see this drive by both Haases? Did you see what they did? They climbed the most out of everyone. Both in the points????? How did we get here? I don't know but I love it. Hulk is for some reason growing on me more and more. So is Kevin. Idk what happened. Double points for Haas. Who would've thought. Amazing. So excited for them.

7. Williams

James Vowles I'm in your walls. Men will do nothing but disappoint. Would Logan have done better than Alex? Probably not. Is it okay what they did to him? Absolutely not. And they didn't even manage to get a singular point. Disgusted disappointed and flabbergasted. Was it worth it James? Cos I don't think it was. Wasnit worth it for Alex to lose respect in Logans eyes? I don't think so either. And before someone goes but it wasn't Alex fault. If I was in Logans place I would lose respect for Alex for allowing this to happen I said what I said. I would never consider him on my side anymore if I ever did.

This coupled with Alex saying he'd rather have a teammate that's bad so he can get all the praise? Falling lower and lower. Not yet daniel-lando-carlos level of low, far from it, but still dissapointed in him.

8. Alpine

Woohoo can you believe they are not last on my list for once? They did something guys!!! The thing they did is they are not BOTH dead last. Only Este is. AND no one dnfed. Actually there is not much to celebrate. Next race I guess

9. Sauber

Idk what was in the air in Bahrain but Sauber are getting worse and worse. Zhou has completely disappeared. Bottas had another 1 min pit stop (what is it with bottas and put stops?????) And they were just... they were bad. This is starting to look very similar to last year and they gave me hope for .2 seconds for NOTHING!

10. Mercedes

Damn. Where do I start. So nice of Hamilton to park his car in solidarity of Max dnf ing. We love a supportive king. In all seriousness tho (because this is a serious race overview) Mercedes suck. The car sucks. First engine failure of the year and its their own car 3 races into the season. It's not looking good at all.

George oh my god. On one side it's funny bc this exact same thing happened in Singapore? That's insane? I'm ready to light some candles about how crazy it is. On another more important side, it was so so scary. The placement of his car was so dangerous. His radio was so devastating. I cant even imagine sitting there in the middle of the road and just waiting for a car to hit you at 300kmph without being able to do anything about apart for yell for a red flag and hope they listen. So traumatic. I hope he's okay mentally after this. I know these people are stronger than us and their relationship with death and fear is different than mine but this cannot be easy. God I have tears in my eyes just writing about it. Poor George 🥺

Okay so I'll write it down in points bc i want to share

In original fic brocedes adopted logan when he was eight, so it's 2008

I will say that it happens after their first shared podium

They are married already for some time, young and think that whole world is under their feets

So after Australia 2008 they connect with local orphanage where they find logan

How he got there? Probably his family moving to Australia and not being able to support him or something like that(sorry idk what reasons could be)

They live him with his last name and don't bring him to the paddock so he can have relatively normal childhood

But he probably knows all of the drivers from that time, from different parties or get-togethers

Also it means that Jenson is like an uncle to him when he gets to Williams while alex suspiciously side eyeing their interactions

Also presence of Logan changes A LOT during 2013-2016 and forward

Bc they can't just be immature and hurt at eachother, they have a fucking kid in their shared responsibility

So brocedes probably go to therapy even before everything becomes shit show

But still their relationship is stained, maybe they even divorced for real

And ofc it had some effect on Logan

Probably only person that knew abt his family is oscar

And this brings me to another important point, logan in f1 and his journey

Probably seeing what media coverage his parents got bc of the mercedes era and general dislike for nepo babys he wants to make his own path

So he still struggles with sponsors for f2 and have another f3 season and all that

But in the end he gets to f1, oscar does too

They both know that they have feelings for eachother

But Logan saw how it can go wrong and last thing he needs is repeat of his parents situation

So they make a deal, if their friendship can stay the same as it was before start of the season till the end if it they can start date, but before that they can't act on their feelings no matter what

Also probably existence of Logan managed to bring brocedes back to somewhat warming up relationship at this point

And while season progresses nothing seems strange to anyone except for unexpected familiarity logan have with retired drivers during any interviews or interactions on the paddock

Also Lewis probably books them joined hotel numbers no matter what. This way they can be close but not look suspicious

Sometimes he stays close to nico or in absolutely separate hotel altogether

In the end whole thing gets exposed bc he was talking to nico one time, both of them mot knowing that mike and camera was working and Logan just casually was saying something like "i will spend next weekend with pa so i was hoping we could spend some time after this race together dad" and maybe put his head on Nico's shoulder and whole internet just explodes
