How does the future looks for them? I’m talking about 10 or 15 years into the future, because I feel like things weren’t fully resolved and I don’t mean that they should get back together and be happy, but the way you wrote the story makes me think that maybe Alexia got married without being completely sure about it, so, will her relationship with Olga work in ten years?

And on the other hand… what’s the relationship between r and her biological family? And what happens with r in the future? Does she continue acting and accepting her reputation as a traitor? Does she manage to build a life surrounded by people who make her happy?

I know I’m way too invested, so I’m really sorry for it, but if you could answer this questions I would be forever grateful 🥹

Alexia's future is happy. As r says, Olga is good for her and it really does work out. But Alexia is always left slightly unsatisfied. It's one of those things: some people suffer through jobs they hate, some people have to settle for someone they will always love a little bit less than someone else. They're perfect together and it works, but she continues to have that niggle -- that flicker of hesitation we saw in her wedding -- for the rest of her life.

R's biological family was super undecided throughout the fic. I pictured it in a few different ways, like she went to La Masia and stayed with a host family and eventually lost touch, or her parents died and she lived with her grandparents during her childhood and they eventually died too. Idk. But they're not close, that's for sure.

She's not a traitor really, but she never explains why. But the tension between her and Alexia cools down and everyone just figures it's been sorted out -- a lot of people didn't like her because Alexia didn't like her (a sort of "well she's normally very professional sooooo" mentality). And the whole thing with the RFEF is just forgiven over time. A long time, but things start to change and the past becomes the past.

And I think she does. I think she moves to America and is a lot happier, finds someone to love who loves her back, and gets a happy ending. Alexia will always be something that could've happened but didn't, but she was the first to accept that.

Okay but I have soany questions because just the premise of this is so glorious!

One, would Vetinari have just kicked ass the second he got there and caught Carcer in the alleyway when they tried to jump him? Because the idea of the entire book being 12 pages long because someone tried to sneak up on the absolute King of Sneak (never called so within earshot of Vimes because his beheading hand would itch) and he put them down so fast they didn't have time to realize what had happened?

Or would he have taken one look at Young Sybil and her instant decision to grab a sword from over the mantle when some unknown stranger stepped into her house and just collapsed into her parlor like "oh thank Me, I've got an ally." And spent like two minutes convincing her via old shared secrets of who he was and that she should help him and the whole thing just becomes wacky hijinks and corrupt political manipulation ala the two most capable manipulators in history?

OR would everything have gone the same way and now Vetinari is just spending so much time with Young Sam and he's like "well, gotta...tone down some world views or I'm gonna accidentally fuck up my future watchdog way too early."

I love the idea of this so much, there's so many possibilities.

No wait! The absolute best but. Just Vetinari making direct eye contact with a young himself while he's hiding on the rooftop. Just. Not even for any reason. Just to be an asshole and scare himself. Like "youngster getting too big for his britches."
