naoko’s tma au is bonkers actually bc in canon she doesn’t want to hurt innocent people, and in this verse she still doesn’t, but she’s gotta Get People or else she dies permanently. so she either has to go after people who’ve had near death experiences (and make it easy on herself, but be weighed with guilt if they’re innocent), or go vigilantesque and hunt down shitty people herself, give them a near death experience and thus be potentially on the police’s shitlist, and then have to find them again and kill them, which could leave her weak if she’s waited too long but at least they’re guilty people. it’s tough stuff, baby [pensive emoji].

@skiesking said: There was something off putting about her from the get go, even before she turned around to face him and ask who he was. He hadn't replied. At first assuming she was talking to someone else ( even if nobody was there ) and then not being sure what to say. It'd been so long since the last time anyone had been able to see him, and his conversation skills had grown rusty. He watches her, head tilting to the side as he eyed her scar, tracing it around her face. "This might sound funny, but are you a robot?"
---------
It’s new, this apparent thing, this new ability to talk to the dead. Obviously, to her, dead, but she couldn’t name or pin down a specific idea of how this man is quite obviously dead and a ghost. Visibly, at least, even if he would technically qualify as a... hm, what’s the word now-- poltergeist. Bad enough that she has to keep away from anyway her brother might have eyes (she obviously should’ve taken both), bad enough that she must orchestrate near-deaths of bad people if she wants the small luxury of feeling like she’s not all that bad and still survive, and now potentially worse that she can see the dead.
At least it’s not someone she’s killed, and the clothes look a little too old in their style, too particular for her to not remember, so there’s at least some relief that she isn’t being chased down for her sins. Considering where she is now, it’d be all too ironic.
“... Yes.” She might as well have fun. After all, the dead man might have seen her get back up five minutes ago, which might be the reason why he asks such a strange question. Naoko -- ‘Hannah’ -- smiles, small and civil. “Technology’s come a long way in recreating human likeness, wouldn’t you say?” Could she keep this up? Yes, probably. She’ll feel a little mean later for the deception, but for now it’s just harmless fun. Besides, she needs a little pick-me-up (besides the... whatever they call themselves, the little snack she’d just had) after the day she’s been having.

@writedisaster / tma au starter call
---------
A woman must eat or else she starves.
It’s this phrase that follows itself, oroborouses itself, in Naoko’s head as she watches people walk past and onwards. There are a few of them that could pass as a snack, if that, but it would not be enough; there’s no magnetic pull strong enough to entice her, or her patron. So she continues to watch, to see if any one of them have that particular thread that’s tied them irrevocably to sudden and unexpected and violent death.
Mind you, she doesn’t expect to find someone else like her. Maybe not so exact -- maybe more of a knowing victim than a predator, or perhaps both, the latter of which would be less surprising, if she’s honest -- but there is someone who is paying attention to her. So long as it’s not one of the Hunters, she doesn’t really care too much.
... Alright, a lie. She turns stiffly, her eyes following an almost-tempting snack, before speaking to her watchful acquaintance. Oh, so long as this one’s not a Watcher. “Can’t a woman pick out a meal in peace?” she asks between gritted teeth and tensed jaws. “Makes me nervous, being watched as I eat.”

i dreamt i died; no longer could i see. | au: tma.
TMA AU.
Naoko is an avatar of the End, now fully-fledged after being murdered on the Zanara; more details to be worked out. Could mesh with either her canon or ‘modern’ verses.
Note: Naoko is also a little Slaughter-aligned/influenced in that her way of feeding the End is to kill those who’ve had near-death experiences, and it is often violent.
Starter/plotting call for this verse. Hit me up in IMs or on Discord if you want to plot, or just hit the like for an unplotted, we’re-winging-it starter (and let me know for which muse(s) as well if you’re a multimuse/want it for a sideblog, thank you).
