"You want me... to officiate a wedding." The director General Isao Shinomya said as he was lying in a hospital bed. Shortly after the finishing blow was dealt, it was revealed that the once thought dead general was just fine, if only just severely injured and malnourished while being stuck inside the body of Kaiju Number Nine. He was only a month into his recovery when he was visited by two individuals from the Third Division.
"That is correct Sir." Reno Ichikawa said, poised as ever while standing at attention. He was accompanied by his friend Iharu Furuhashi.
"Who's wedding is it?' The director General asked. The two men looked at each other for a moment, a silent discussion communicated through looks.
"Who's wedding IS IT?" Isao reiterated more forcefully.
"Kafka Hibino and Soshiro Hoshina's, Sir!" Iharu let spill out of shock and fear.
"Why in god's name are those two getting married?" Isao questioned after he processed the new information. The two visitors looked at each other again before sighing simultaneously.
"We should start from the beginning." Reno said as they both grabbed chairs to sit down in.
"You see... after the fight and everything had settled down-" Iharu started only to get elbowed by Reno. He looked over quizzically at his partner.
"You should probably start further back." Reno added helpfully.
"Oh, right." Iharu started again, " So to prepare for the fight, Vice Captain decided to teach some Hoshina family specific variants of the Squadron Fighting Style to Kafka since Vice-Cap was already teaching him Basic Squadron Style. Once the aftermath of the fight settled down, Hoshina's dad talked to the Vice Captain about that and apparently had some problems with it. What ended up being said was that since Kafka wasn't a part of the Hoshina family... it was stated that he should be executed because of what he knows now." Iharu paused for a moment to read Isao's face and made sure there wasn't any confusion. Remaining stoic as usual, he nodded in approval to have the soldier continue.
"Obviously no one wanted that, least of all Soshiro, so he tried to stop that from happening. Well, in a bid to buy himself more time to find out why his father really seems to want Kafka dead, Vic-Cap might have... convinced his father to let him marry Kafka instead." Iharu stopped again to let the weight of his word hang in the sterile air. Isao still had no change in expression.
"To cut to the chase, his father basically said 'Not going to happen.' and the Vice Captain said 'Watch me.'. Once he explained the situation to Kafka, he immediately became on board with the idea and now they have a wedding in less than two weeks. Once the Vice Captain's father heard about this, in a potential scare tactic, he doubled down and said he'd pay for everything. I guess it was his attempt to make Hoshina rethink about the wedding by making it seem that this was a permanent decision, but it only made our Vice Captain more resolved and now the two of them have plans to make it the most ridiculous wedding possible." Reno finished the story while mirroring the Director General's neutral expression. Isao slowly closed his eyes and breathed deeply for a moment. He asked one more question after he had finished.
"Define ridiculous."
"Kafka's picking out the most expensive American-style wedding dress he can get his hands on. Hoshina originally wanted to dress up as a pirate, but now has plans to see if he can't wear a part of the Number Ten suit and have it be included in the outfit. Haruichi is getting permission from his family to have the venue take place in his family's private beach and attached beach manor in Cancun. Aoi apparently has a cousin in the entertainment industry and is trying to see if we can't have BlackPink or Linkin Park provide live music. And Mina is getting permission to arrange a Hele-carrier to air drop the Groom, the best men, and the bridesmaids onto the altar's location." Reno listed everything that had been settled so far without breaking eye contact with the Director General. The man started to become visibly confused at hearing how far this wedding was taking its budget.
"Originally, Mina was just going to rent a Ferrari and drive everyone to the altar on the beach, but Hakua mentioned the hele-carrier and now Mina won't let the idea go." Iharu added, looking like he thought he was being helpful. Isao leaned his head back as he closed his eyes again, fighting a migraine that was slowly approaching.
"I take it you're asking me to do the ceremony because the Director General is properly sanctioned to preside over matrimonial functions?" The two visitors looked at each other again, more briefly this time, before they started talking again.
"Well, we were considering having the current Director General do it since you are still deep in recovery-" Reno started.
"But to be completely transparent Sir... It would be more hilarious it you could do it." Iharu finished. Isao gave them a severe stare as he leaned back up to look at them.
"I mean... with you technically being resurrected and all..." Iharu stated as he fidgeted nervously in his seat.
"We weren't seriously expecting you to stand the whole time. We are planning to provide a chair... if you wish to accept, that is." Reno began to fidget as well as the harsh stare from the injured general continued. His eyes passed from one soldier to the other in judgemental contemplation before he gave his answer.
"On on condition." Isao began. the two visitors sat up straighter in response.
"That chair... better be a throne. And I want it to make me sit higher than both the bride and the groom." His expression remained impassively neutral as he commanded the conversation. The two visitors' faces brighten greatly at hearing the Director General's response.
"Really, Sir? You'll do it?" Reno asked, not believing what he was hearing.
"This is all to piss off Hoshina's father, right? I can't think of a better first act as a reinstated Director General. Fuckin' hate that guy, thinking he can overrule the decision that I made that clearly states Kaiju Number Eight gets to live." Isao scoffed as he took a sip of water.
Needless to say, his presence really added to the wedding later that week.
@iceclew thought you should see this. 😁
that bustier is working overtime (come get yo man)
#This came to me at work#Its a desperate bid to stop me from making another fanfic#I decided to shorten what I had in mind into a short skit that basically describes how I had pictured the wedding's conception#and how it went.#i doubt Isao is ACTUALLY getting resurrected but I still think he should be at the wedding.#the pirate bit came about because Kafka was explaining why he wanted an American dress#He thought weddings were a massive celebration and that style of dress was what he thought everyone should be wearing -#-and since he only had one chance to wear something like that and he was technically the bride in this situation#(Because he had to take Hoshina's last name for the marriage to count)#He thought “ Fuck it. I'mma be a pretty princess.”#Hoshina heard that and was like “.... Can I be a Pirate King at the wedding? Because I want to wear a cloak. And thigh high boots.”#which is the exact same conversation that helped spiraled the wedding into the ridiculousness above
