🌷shadow and omega b oth have very complicated relationships w the concept of good bye. they don't really age or die? omega specifically has the advantage of having very limited emotion and a highly logic mind, so he would not waste energy mourning and accept when things end. Shadow is def still trying to figure it all out. as of rn in universe ofc he doesn't have to think abt it much yet, he's doing his best to prevent his friends from harm right now, and he'd rather just face the problems as they happen. especially in shth he learned that theres no use thinking about the what ifs, because there's a right now that needs to be dealt with. the more he thinks about what differenciates him from others the less he can concentrate on what matters: the things he's got in common. like the ground beneath their feet, the star they orbit around, the wind that blows in their faces... He knows about the inevitability of death enough through maria, and he will try his best to not make the same mistake twice. he's determined to move on. ofc its easier said than done, especially in the conceptual event that rouge would fall in combat or even worse.. because of a mistake that he made.. but there are so many possibilities that i could analyze we'd be here for ever.........

rouge herself i think hasdealt with loss before, and she might have had some history with people that she has cut out of her lives. it might seem cold but i think she as a person has mastered the art of severing. whether its healthy is not the question rn... she def has a very soft spot for shadow and omega, tho as stated above these two are really hard to kill so there's not much to worry about in that regard, if anything it's a worry that might not plague her right now, but eventually she's going to think about what it means to be the one that's being severed by forces beyond anyone's control

Maybe he actually is like a gamer playing shooters and made friends in voice chat. no one believes him when he introduced himself as killermachine, they think its just a nickname

shadow likes solitude, but i really like that one bit in the recent twitter take over where he and knuckles stood in the forest for hours watching the plants and animals and hwo the light changes throughout the day while going through the leaves etc etc... theyre both very connected to nature in their own ways and i think they could bond over that. also about how they both prefer solitude. they can be alone together! they dont need any words, they can just exist next to eachother for a few hours and feel good about it. he also most surely hangs out with sonic every now and then. hangingout being racing and having a good fight together. though im sure sonic can eventually convince him to spend proper time together. for example making a race into a trekking tour where they go random places sonic knows or doesnt know yet, and they learn about the culture and obviously the food. shadow does seem like someone who'd like to learn about the planet, and sonic's the type of guy who's super eager to have someone to show around and explore with that can keep up!

I was wondering about something and it made me also wonder what you thought: ive been thinking about the very fraught dynamic between potter and charles and wanted your thoughts. So like the potter charles dynamic is really rich and it has. Alot of fascinating angles to it, but the crux of that dynamic for me comes down to this: charles is a wealthy, old-money northern urbanite and he is- in career terms at least- in his prime His affect is very contemptuous and aristocratic- hes a member of the elite class in every sense and he knows it. Meanwhile potter is past his prime, a middleamerican/southern dude from what is clearly a rural working class or poor background (i mean i think so. It strikes me as wildly unusual for a wealthy teenager to lie about his age to enlist as a low army grunt, which seems to be what potter did in ww1. Even if potter did come from a stable household economically speaking, he didnt have much in the way of social status- hes a farmboy) All this to say: theres major tension between them. in civilian life charles has absolutely all the power and would never have reason to give potter the slightest bit of regard. Yet this isnt the situation theyre in- charles has been drafted against his will and is at the mercy of potters authority as a commanding officer. Thats not to say that charles doesnt deserve potters ire for being very arrogant and condescending; but you get the sense, especially early in charles's time in mash, that potter gets serious glee out of taking charles down a peg; based on the social dynamic i just mentioned. Which is undeniably satisfying and funny, but its also kind of fucked up too? Like the draft is unjust, charles has been removed from his life to give over his talents to the war machine. He doesnt want to be there. Conditions are terrible. His consent is not relevant. His skills are barely relevant, hes been thrown into a totally unfamiliar mode of medical practice to what he is used to. The show knows all this and for the record i dont think it wrong to mine humor from charles's situation, even though it is wildly unfair and unpleasant and more or less forced labor as is the case for all draftees regardless of background. I was just curious what you thought about potters dynamic with charles or with people in the camp in general (his dynamic with Klinger is similarly fascinating and fucked up though it distinguishes itself from charles because 1. Klinger is not at all on equal or higher standing than potter in civilian life 2. He offers potter respect that charles does not. Which makes potters glee in fucking with klinger less based in class resentment (which colors his dynamic with charles) and more interpersonal (if youre being charitable) or more racist/sexist/classist bullying (if youre being uncharitable). What do u think of potter as an authority figure on mash? what you thought about mash's relationship to the draft as a concept?- service as a moral duty or trying to go AWOL as an immoral or cowardly act versus conceptualizing the draft as an injustice since imo mash seemed to go back and forth about that. hiiiii!!!! i haven't put much thought into the potter and charles dynamic if i'm being fully honest, but i never saw what potter was doing to charles as particularly cruel. charles was already drafted but had managed to secure a fairly comfortable position due to his class (i assume, i don't think the show ever tells us). he also seems to be there in a teacher/lecturer position as opposed to being a doctor who actually treats wounded soldiers. potter needed a capable surgeon to save lives. the morality of being an american army surgeon in a foreign war is a different question though (not that mash hadn't touched on that as well)

if we're not talking about potter keeping charles as a surgeon though, i do imagine potter takes quiet personal glee in fucking with charles because charles is a dickhead lmao

and i don't think potter is ever fucking with klinger? the potter/klinger relationship is pretty straightforward - klinger wants out, potter can't permit that, so klinger comes up with ridiculous schemes to try and convince potter, and the schemes get more and more ridiculous until it becomes a real boy cried wolf situation. everything potter does is (mostly) always in response to whatever klinger is doing

mash is pretty clear on the draft (it should not exist as much as war should not exist) but what happens after is a bit more complicated. i mean, it's never described as a cowardly act - scully went AWOL and hawkeye and BJ shield him, henry remarks that if they all had any sense they would've gone off camp (with the latrine) like hawkeye did, and klinger's schemes are played for laughs but his desire to leave is never painted in s negative light

that being said, none of the commanding officers ever actually let people leave without due reason. and there's the whole shooting yourself in the foot business obviously to which most of the responses are 'we get that war is shit but don't do it again please' (which like, as doctors they're bound to not let people mutilate themselves but you know). people being AWOL is a bit of an awkward topic in mash and i'm not sure if it ever formed a concrete opinion on that

i have a buuunch of different ocs and two totally different main ocverses/stories so i think it might be hard to answer all at once though 😅 but actually i do wanna answer with the main group of my newer ocverse bc i dont think i ever really posted abt exactly what all their dynamics are with each other!

just for context and to answer the first question, their story mainly takes place within a guild where they take on missions and eventually they sort of stumble ass backwards into a plot. the main five characters are polaris, saiph, bella, al, and mira! id talk more about them but ive posted abt them before so i dont wanna overexplain ;; i can link their more in depth personal posts if you want though!

but like, as for their relationships which i really do wanna get into, i typed a looot so im going to put it under the cut hehe:

polaris and saiph are besties but polaris wont admit it because shes trying way too hard to appear as more of a loner than she really wants to be. but saiph is like, completely adamant on being besties anyway so it somehow evens out, the fact that he doesnt leave is sort of what reassures her that they are friends after all. typical fire and ice dynamic, theres a balance between them.

polaris and bella are like. both very similar to each other with their tendencies to isolate and repress themselves but in different ways, which makes them sort of resent each other at first, but then at the same time theyre also both able to understand each other and actually help each other and be friends. or maybe...

polaris and al sort of have a relaxed friendship where there isnt as much pressure, al is sort of the reassuring cool factor that's needed for polaris to stay comfortable in the chaos of their group. al also considers her to be a good person to talk to, but since polaris doesnt understand social dynamics as well she had a hard time determining where the line between meddling and helping is. and maybe al feels a bit weird seeing saiph and polaris be besties and realizing that hes not content with having that same dynamic with saiph too... ill get into their whole mess later tho

polaris and mira generally get along very well, but contrary to al, mira's personality can be a bit overwhelming for polaris, its basically an extreme extrovert and an extreme introvert, but that kind of relationship is also one thats important to polaris coming out of her shell. probably because mira is hard to say no to (because half the time shed drag you along anyway).

saiph and bella also have opposite energies in a sense, saiph cant control his emotions while bella represses her emotions, hes always at a 10 when shes always at a 3. bella might find him annoying in a lighthearted sort of way, but she also finds a bit of a vicarious catharsis in his demeanor so she likes hanging out with him. and saiph sort of just looks up to her as their de facto team leader.

saiph and al are. the messiest bitches on planet earth. they both like each other but theyre both so fundamentally insecure in very similar but also different ways that theyre unable to actually, like, even conceptualize of the feelings being mutual. and despite their own feelings for each other their own issues clash a lot with each other- al wants to become strong enough so that he can protect people so they never have to protect him, the concept of people getting hurt on his behalf is terrifying to him. but saiph is incredibly reckless and self-sacrificial (in a way that borders on suicidal) and feels patronized and insulted if anyone tries to take on any of these burdens in his stead. so they clash heads a lot in this regard ESPECIALLY because its the person theyre respectively in love with.

anyway saiph and mira are siblings. though theyre not technically related they are siblings and theyd probably be offended if you ever questioned that fact. they grew up in the guild together, and since theyre close in age they really clung to each other. despite only being a little over a year older saiph still took on the classic protective older brother role, while mira is the cutsie and playfully annoying sister, and shed even play it up for his sake at times.

al and bella are sort of frenemies, in a lighthearted way though. neither of them really take it very far since theyre fairly levelheaded (most of the time), but they still bud heads because they both always feel the need to be in control of any given situation. bella is the team leader so naturally shes in charge, which can make al uneasy and sort of bicker with her, which in turn makes her frustrated at his incorporation. even outside of missions they keep their banter going, usually its light but that doesnt mean they never argue for real either. theyre still friends, but maybe they should voice that a bit more often too.

al and mira generally get along super well but he cannot keep up with her energy, but unlike polaris he like, fully encourages her chaos. she sort of sees him as a good person to just ramble to for hours on end because he’ll just sit and listen. he has no clue what shes talking about half the time but thats okay because he likes her spirit! and she helps balance out his somewhat more cynical characteristics a bit. 

bella and mira are besties. their personalities seem sort of opposite on the outside, but on the inside theyre both pretty similar! bella's more edgy demeanor is a facade after all, in her heart of hearts she really is soft, she likes cutsie and sweet things, and despite not showing it she really does like being shown affection. she has a lot in common with mira, so shes sort of able to be herself a bit more around her, she doesnt feel threatened and can put some walls down. they shop at hot topic and claires together.

excited to see what you have to say about todays episode cause like the other person said, the stunts from the atz/skz/btob also looked lowkey awkward to watch lmao. i feel like the dance part cant really be judged against each other just based on how different they were. also the ikon/sf9/tbz rap performance was much more khiphop inspired while skz/atz/btob were basically "kpop group's rapline does a unit stage" if you know what i mean lmao. im curious to see if you're going to talk about the judges and how some of them were picked solely to have exposure👀 or if there might be a reasoning behind all of them (the dance girl i understand but like... okay)

also, i have to ask if you watched rtk and if you'd feel comfortable sharing who you think should've won/if the boyz deserved it? as a deobi i know its not that big of a deal but i was lowkey proud and stunned by them during rtk and while i think they're doing good on kingdom too, their performances became way too overwhelming/doesn't leave an impression after for my little brain 🙃 i love them tho. also not that you care but i wish they would represent more their full dance line, because juyeon is doing amazing but it can be mentally and physically tiring to be the ONE guy who does all the dance and center parts, like do it as a trio or smt dont push it all on him while there are ten others on the team

i hope you enjoyed my (very) long review and my apparently literally opposite opinions from everyone else! that’s a lie they’re not opposite, i'm just looking at very different things. thank you for also clocking that the performance stages were two different styles! i'm fairly certain the rankings arent out yet for that stage at least, so i'm not envious of the judges having to decide between two performances that are pretty much on opposite ends of the spectrum. also i did make a mistake in my review, i just watched the first half of the episode and they do in fact call it the dance stage, so that’s on me. my point still stands though, group dancing is still dancing.

as far as the judges go........why are we upset about them.....? honestly they all seem fine to me. i mean, i can understand people being pressed about s*ju because they make people mad by just existing, apparently, but that doesnt negate the fact that they have nearly two decades of experience in the industry. if they arent going to have changmin do any judging than they might as well get some other sm vets, since yanno, they did kinda establish the industry (sm, not s*ju. although s*ju is the first kpop group i ever remember hearing way back in like, 2008. in canada. before having a personal device with internet access. sooooooo). and i mean, we all have opinions on the separation of art and artist and everyone can draw their own boundaries of who they choose to consume the work of, and that’s valid. i have lots of those lines too. but you can’t deny the sheer amount of experience, and shindong is a director and music video producer, so he ain’t stupid. i dont see any problems with having a lineup of some idol veterans, a frankly incredible choreographer, and some producers. oh wait, are people mad about the rookies????? why are people mad about the rookies?????????????? huh????????????? have people forgotten that rookies spend literal YEARS training before they even debut??? they’re not incompetent, they’re members of the industry that have worked hard to be there and have valid opinions and abilities to recognize what they think is good?? also.......what’s wrong with doing something for exposure? how do you think groups get popular in the first place? fuck, the prize for kingdom is a variety/reality show! which is exposure! you know that’s how arts marketing works, right? if you want people to listen to your music, you have to advertise it to people. you need an audience. if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it sell thousands of albums? thousands of tickets? why are you invalidating artists on the basis of wanting more exposure? are you worried they’re not going to ‘judge fairly’??? you know none of these groups' reputations are going to be hurt by their placement in the show, right. these are all high level groups already, with established brand rep. THEY are doing this show for exposure too. is this what people are complaining about on twitter?? so every stan account promoting fancams and comeback dates under hit tweets has to delete them now because artists aren’t allowed to do anything for exposure anymore. ?????? am i too old??? what happened to make people think that exposure was bad???

i have only watched the stages from rtk, and not while the show was airing, so i dont really have any context for the show as a whole. do i think they deserved to win? i dont really think anyone ‘deserves’ to win a competition show, but they did produce a couple of phenomenal stages, so was i surprised? no. personally i would have picked pentagon because they had the best vocals and also they took a few more conceptual risks that paid off really well. their cover of follow is a fantastic remake and honestly we need more dramatic remakes like that, ones that really change up the sound. i made a couple of conclusions about tbz in my episode four review that are relevant here (they’re at the end of the tbz section). although tbz are good performers, the problem is theyre trying to showcase those skills by being heavily conceptual, but their creative team is ALL over the place and nothing is landing. I dont think they’re doing terrible in kingdom, they’re doing very well, but their creative team is not providing them with a stable conceptual base. i know i make designing sound relatively simple, but it's not at all. i'm just smart and very good at my job. there are a lot of mediocre designers out there, and tbz just do not have a good creative team for kingdom. and i do actually think it's a shame that they’re fronting juyeon so much, because one of their strengths IS their group work. they have a more of a contemporary flavour than most other groups at the moment and they can do some really sharp synchronization that should to be seen more. i wish they had actually done group work for the performance stage, because we’ve already seen juyeon do a solo stage, plus he has solos in all the stages. give him a break and let the others have a chance to do something at least.

The reason I got into Homestuck was because I was incredibly shocked at how his likeness was captured in the fan art, and even the official art. I had a character on Gaiaonline with the Chucku Norisu scarf and the winged staff item and people drew freebie art of it for me, and when I looked at my pictures after learning about Homestuck it was pretty crazy.

Vriska [best artist I know] drew a character that looked a lot like Terezi that I had liked a lot.

I was very isolated when I was young. Neglected by my parents for the most part and felt too different from other humans. I always wanted a tree house and bulit my own club house that I hung out in as a kid.

My friends pretty much unfairly looked down on and even despised Vriska except Gamzee.

Dave made a proposition that he, me and Karkat be in a poly relationship and I turned it down. [I did not want to share Karkles with ANYONE. I know in the comic Dave actually disliked the idea, but the poly thing came up with the three of us. I dont know if Karkat was cool with it or not because he always used Dave as our go-between, but if Dave made the offer it must have been Karkat approved. Asshole. -.-]

Karkat and Dave live together and are more than likely morails. Karkat isnt attracted to Dave, but Dave has said he is attracted to Karkat.

I had a dragon umbrella that looked like a cane that I loved a lot.

Karkat is pretty much the unofficial group leader, or at least he was in my opinion. I could see Sollux saying Id make a better leader, though, because Im more clear-headed and calm about things and people from that group respected me [more than I was aware of].

We are all connected somehow.. but the main group consisted of Dave, Gamzee, Rose, Kanaya, me [Terezi], Karkat, and a few people I didnt see as characters from Homestuck. Vriska was not allowed to hang out with us at first. When she finally got her freedom [with my help] she wouldnt hang with the group, and they saw her as taking me away from them. They thought she treated me poorly, but she really didnt. -.- [Vriska did nothing wrong, theyre all just jerks.]

I dont hang out or talk to any of them anymore except John. Im always finding myself reminiscing and I really just wish I could forget I ever met them so I could start over fresh.

I have a spirit guide that is a DRAGON and teaches me anything Id like to know, especially in esoteric matters. His name is Shadowfall Ryu. Ryu is Japanese for Dragon. [lusus] and I agonize that I dont know him irl. Everyone knows about him. I have drawn so much art of him and talked about him so much. He is my ideal self. [i know the lusus in the comics is female, but whatever. Its still interesting.]

I collect dragon stuff, including plushies. I still play with them and wish others would play with me.

Are you named after someone?

yes and i fucking hate it. it’s a fictional character though and i can’t say who because that’s personal information i dont wanna give but god i FUCKING hate it so much. I MEAN its not really like my mom was like “i want you to be named after this fictional character uwu” it was more like she saw said fictional character when she was a kid, fell in love with the name, and sought to name her first daughter the same name so. im basically named after the character. my middle name is from my grandpa just ~the girl version~ though so that’s better.

Last time I cried?

UHM. maybe i’ve cried since then but the last time i can really remember is the night of my high school graduation, june 29th (LOL i have the exact date GOFIDHOS) and i was just kinda reflecting on everything that happened during high school and even just all 12 years of grade school and coming to terms with the fact that it was all ending and i was moving on with my life. mourning the loss of the few good things school has given me, yknow?

not often! i mostly only do it with my parents, especially my dad cause we all poke fun at him so it’s acceptable. whenever i do it at my mom she throws a tantrum though so :)

im not very aware of things. uhm. either their voice or their hair i guess, depends on whether or not im able to look at them directly. once i look at their face though i kinda focus on their nose for some reason idk. noses are very distinct and unique facial features and theyre my main way of identifying people and recognizing faces, but i wouldnt say theyre the first thing i notice

medium-darkish brown. i think somewhere between t30 and t40 i think.

Scary movies or Happy Endings?

happy endings . i cant handle scary movies cause most of them rely on jump scares and i honestly physically cannot handle jump scares, i get chest pains after like 3, and it’s just SHOCK not genuine fright i hate it -_- genuine horror is cool conceptually but even then it’s not my cup of tea. i just prefer light hearted stories a lot more. even if the story itself is dark, so long as theres a happy ending it’s good :^)

Special Talent?

DONT HAVE ANY TALENTS BUT i do have a bunch of weird things i can do with my body! i have voluntary nystagmus which is probably the most impressive of the weird things i can do, it means i can vibrate my eyes on command. it freaks people out a LOT. i cant do it for longer than 5 seconds without seriously fucking somethign up though lol, i did it for 7 seconds once and my vision went white for like 30 seconds and left them aching for a few hours lol

IDK. I’D LIKE TO WORK FOR NASA BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT AREA OF ASTRONOMY/ASTROPHYSICS IM GONNA SPECIALIZE IN SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SPECIFIC JOB. BUT I WANNA WORK FOR NASA PREFERABLY AS SOME SORT OF RESEARCHER. i think i’d like to dabble in some science writing too like i think it’d be cool to write about stuff going on in the field but i’d like to make it accessible for people outside of academia? i really enjoy ranting about stuff obviously and i tend to give way too much context + in depth explanations when not necessary so i think i could maybe put that to use in explaining things that normal people wouldn’t know about already, AKA areas where a lot of context IS necessary
