jooha becomes a bit of an urban myth to the nctzens, like just enough about him is known to confirm that he does in fact exist but most stans don't know what he looks like or his name. especially after reyna debuts, it becomes quite common for people to post pictures of random asian guys and speculate as to whether or not its her brother. on occasion, the two will be spotted together by fans, paparazzi or saesangs and the people who don't know about jooha will try to cancel reyna for getting into a relationship. johnny is a pro at dodging jooha questions on livestreams but reyna kind of snaps at her fans constantly asking about him 😭 "'can you get your brother?' my brother literally lives in america so not unless you want me to hop on a plane right this second." and then she just tells everyone to stop asking about him.

bahahahahaa-- people put together twt threads like "what we know about jooha suh" and then literally half+ of the info is WRONG lmaoooo

i think the reason ppl know jooha exists is because SOMEONE has to look after ahri, reyna, and jooha right after jooha is born, so johnny takes a hiatus for "family reasons", and when people freak out thinking something bad happened, he posts on bubble just a pic of jooha's tiny hand wrapped around johnny's large pinky finger and all he says is, "this is where i've been. everything's fine, i pinky promise" ha. ha. get it. pinky... promise... anyhow. so they know that johnny has another kid, but they don't know until later when johnny drops hints mindlessly about like his "son" that things start to really come together for the fans. obviously he'll stop people (fans and interviewers) who try to bring up jooha by simply being like "i dont want to talk about my son, let's move on please", so they really dont get more than that. not even a name. yes, sasaengs being sasaengs get pictures of the boys carrying around a kid from time to time, but jooha's face is always covered 'cause in the winters they put him in big puffy jackets with hoods to cover him up, and in the summers they just make sure he hides his face in the crook of their necks while carrying him from a building to the car or something like that. thankfully pics like this aren't a common thing so it isnt a BIG worry of theirs.

however, once reyna starts to get into the spotlight by appearing in nct content, people want to know more about johnny's son, so the whole family agrees that they need to be super super careful about jooha's identity. eventually, after she's been around long enough, ppl shut up about wanting to see jooha, and people arent actively tracking him down or whatever, so the worries fade which means they dont have to be as careful. when jooha goes to elementary school. he can walk by himself to and from, or he can go with reyna without any issues. he's able to attend a few concerts, like we've talked about in the past. i think jooha's able to live a fairly normal life once the excitement of "johnny's secret son" dies down.

but yeah, he's def an urban legend amongst nct fans and reyna stans. they'll pester occasionally about wanting to see him or know more, but none of the boys or reyna will give in. by the time jooha's in high school, people dont even think to look twice at him about like... if that's jooha suh or not. so he can attend reyna's idol events and visit his dads without any problems. moving to america literally put distance between him and the root of any and all problems (sasaengs who wanted to find out who he was). by him leaving and reyna joking about how jooha was half way across the world, fans gave up. they're never gonna see jooha suh. they're never even gonna know his name. so when they do see reyna walking around with a random guy who's wearing a hoodie and a mask, and he's keeping his head down (because the camera flashes and the yelling is really overstimulating for him), speculation kicks up that this "mystery man" is her new beau. in a way i feel bad for liam to some extent, he seems like such a lost person who has made a lot of poor choices especially the last couple of years and i dont know if its in part a reaction of his career not taking off as a solo artist and him being in 1D was the only time he peaked because no offense even with louis not being a good vocalist he is making more impact (we know why but) and the way without naming said niall and louis are not great singers so they were in the back during 1D and now they are doing so much better than him, even zayn who didnt tour, didnt do much promo or performance turned out to have such a popular solo single (pillowtalk) to then having a really good debut album and then disappearing but still being relevant

but he seems so bitter about his own choices, that's the problem. like he IS the best vocalist out of 1d, he CAN perform, he did write on some great songs, he basically had all the means necessary - but he chose a different path for his solo career from the get-go. and he would alwayssss bring up 1d in interviews or tweet about them or or or, it's even in his first solo song, he never even tried to establish himself as a serious soloist. idk like my level of empathy for him in general has drastically fallen over the years, i don't wish him anything bad like i do hope he gets his shit together one day, but i also can't bring myself to feel for him anymore and when it comes to THIS department i def don't have compassion for him.

I did and i def agree that they do say stuff like that to him a lot, which is wrong and its an issue in all groups, any member who is not stick thin ALWAYS faces stuff like this, whether they do it to actually be mean or just to joke around no one knows but it literally happens in ALL groups and its wrong and the rest of enhypen are wrong for saying that esp when sunoo is already on a diet and has said that he is struggling to lose weight (which is a whole issue on its own bc he is a literal child)

About that thread.. all of them are made by solo stans so im NOT taking them seriously at all and neither should you BUT you have to admit that these boys debuted from a survival show they were literally competing against each other till the final lineup they have voted against each other till the last day and there is no way on earth they could have been besties with each other in just two months. Its NOT the boys fault its just that wtf else would you expect if you put a bunch of kids together and ask them to literally fight for their life.. This is the main reason why i dont like the idea of making groups from survival shows and i will not properly stan any group made like this bc you can NOT expect that they have the same type of bond a regular group made of people who have lived and trained together for YEARS have. I'm very sure the boys like each other, jungwon has said that they are trying to bond well and that they do get along well now and im sure they love sunoo, but do not expect them to have the relationship say bts or txt have esp this early

No pls I love rants on music, especially vocal techniques (had a couple of classes, quit because of life in general, most of my expertise is on the piano side anyway), and would really, seriously love to hear your thoughts on the members vocals (although I do understand that this is time consuming to do) just wanted to say that there's no need to apologise for ranting, we all wanna hear you speak anyways :)

sorry this took forever to respond to! akdjf youve went to more vocal technique classes than i have so maybe you might know more than me ahaha! tbh i really want to formally learn vocal pedagogy so i know what im listening for and what im not. like having that professional opinion alongside telling me ‘ur wrong’ or ‘ur right’ i really want that so i can solidify my learning in a sense…ive been doing that kind of through youtube videos and stuff but still idk. omg ur a pianist? please i love you automatically now so idk why but i’ll probably just summarize in units? and like maybe short comments about each member or more than one member or something idk. under a readmore bc it got longwarning: i am no way, shape and or form a professional. 

hht: im going to start with hht…tbh i have another name for hht haha its called ‘baritone team’ alsdkjf isnt it a coincidence (not really) that all of svts baritones ended up in hht…thus is the fate of most baritones in kpop sadly :( they either get pushed to subvocal or to the rapper position even if its not what they want initially bc of their like natural (basically) biological disposition of not being able to hit, with the same kind of ease, high notes that tenors can…like tbh tenors cant hit those notes ½ the time either but its less obvious bc theyre tenors…that made no sense lasdj…in relating to current events though heres a classic example of baritone (vn) vs tenor (sk) singing in basically the same high note range but vn has to go into falsetto while sk is trying to mix up there…both of them arent really singing it well (laskdj fmaybe sk is a bad example bc he has a good approach to his voice…but like nonetheless that isnt a healthy sounding note from either of them) but its less obvious with sk bc hes a tenor and more obvious with vn (well maybe the falsetto vs mix also had to do with it but like idk a bari who would want to mix that high ljldkajf). anyways in terms of technique, no one in hht team particularly stands out. All of them tend to either sing with their throat or sing with lots of air in their voice, which isn’t particularly healthy but also to be expected from rappers. tbh rappers i find tend to be more throaty, i think why in this group they also are airy is because of wz lol and his vocal directing. within the entire group though (like not just hht), ww has my fav vocal color and i tend to think from within hht, he has the most potential to become a decent vocalist. its mostly (like 95%) because of his continual expressed desire in singing (it makes me think that when he does actually get proper vocal lessons he would take them very seriously and be very disciplined about it and tbh that just goes above everything else) but also because of that one performance of city escape (here) ? and it sounds really pretty and the range that he’s singing in that song is starting to be in the higher part of a baritones register too. and in some of his other vocal performances too, whenever he is in the range where he doesn’t have to mix, his approach to his voice really isnt bad at all. i say he has the most potential but that doesnt mean the other hht members cant become awesome vocalists they can if they put the right time and effort into it. pt:the rest of the units are composed of all tenors (at least from what i know) btw so yeah all of pt are tenors. again in terms of technique no one particularly stands out. they all seem to approach singing similarly but with putting emphasis on different things which makes them sound different….actually upon closer inspection most of the members of the entire group (not just pt) are like that laksjdl….well maybe with the exception of sk. anywho…jh pushes air a lot which is why you get those like ‘hiccups’?? idk how else to describe it but an example is here. like do u hear how his voice rises at the end of a lot of those notes? hs also gets those same hiccups. jh is also quite nasal, and probably the most nasally member within the 13 members when it comes to singing. nasally voices are my number one pet peeve rip thats why my fav jh singing moments is when hes singing in his comfortable range and esp when its words/syllables that force him to place his voice not so much in his nose (ie this part in my i). being nasal is not really as damaging for the vocal chords as much as it is the individual not really placing the voice in the correct, most optimal place. he also gets really tight on higher notes esp when hes trying to mix that high. same with hs (you can hear the both of them sounding tight in the habit perf i linked to earlier). also jh has tongue tension but im not sure if thats a reflection of him trying to sing in kr…him and hao are probably at a disadvantage when it comes to singing because of the fact that they aren’t singing in a language that theyre comfortable in/fluent in. when it comes to hao, when he said in the seasons greetings video that he was working on singing but no matter how much he practiced, he couldnt improve, that made me really sad :( because that basically means is that the vocal lessons he is getting arent actually good vocal lessons…unless he expects results to happen in a week (which sadly no it takes months upon months). ur vocal chords are a muscle so they take time to develop (like when u first go to the gym u arent going to try and lift the heaviest weight right? or run at the fastest speed or whatever u have to build urself up to that slowly). and then he also compared that to his dancing which he said he could get better at by doing over and over? but its the same when it comes to dancing like u cant be improving dancing if u learn the wrong choreo or the wrong ways to dance a specific type of dance right? like no matter how much u practice a wrong choreo its still going to be that wrong choreo…so if u sing with bad technique no matter how much u practice u arent going to get better u’ll just develop bad technique. but yeah singing with correct technique should yield some results eventually (i can attest to that). anyways im biased and i really want to hear hs get proper vocal lessons bc i find his vocal color sooo pretty i literally listen to campfire like 90%for his part in the chorus (and the other 10% is cheols rap aldjsf)….i also think he hovers around being able to support or maybe its my biased ears talking who knwos… i didnt really talk about dn but hes kind of along the same lines…maybe a bit more dependent on his throat than some of the other members in pt…which kind of makes sense bc thats what rappers tend to dovt: ok js and wz are both similar in how they approach singing i think its kind of obvious too with how much they sound alike at times. oh yeah wz probably has the highest vocal range within the group idt anyone in the group can go higher than him (not that it really matters when it comes to vocal technique but its a neat tidbit of info). jh for one has a lot of tongue tension (just like jn) when he sings and is kinda nasal (not as much as jn but still there). just like the rest of the other members in the other units, these three dont support either. we can finally talk about support when we talk about sm…although his supported range isnt too much he does have that basic down…he gets super throaty though when hes outside his supported range. he does that same hiccup thing that hs/jn do. he hasn’t shown the ability to resonate but at least he can support.  despite singing a lot of the groups high notes, he hasnt developed a connected head voice, as far as im aware of. technique wise hes really similar to a lot of the main vocalists in groups that debut these days. but ok NOW SK aka the member who has the best vocal technique. he supports consistently and he has resonance too its so beautiful and wonderful to listen to like esp since a lot of kpop group vocalists that debut these days for some reason dont really want to resonate. its so nice to listen to his voice. like hes fooling around here but still manages (what i think is) a resonant F#4? (not the high note he holds out, its like the note he sings before he slides up) and if that note isnt resonant then it is at the very least supported very very very nicely. heres a really pretty g4. tbh i really want to hear him start trying to conquer the fourth octave like what a good day itd be if i could say ‘yeah sk can sing up to b4s with good technique’ like thats kind of hard to do but definitely attainable! and he has the potential for sure! i think within the fandom hes really quite overlooked for some odd reason that i cant seem to figure out why. he definitely has the healthiest voice, at least his mixed register for sure. he seems to prefer mixing over head voice for whatever reason when it comes to high notes so honestly speaking i havent paid much attention to his head voice but i wouldnt be surprised if it wasnt connected considering how much he doesnt sing in it…but tbh the fact that he mixes pretty decently is amazing in it of itself. CONCLUSION: with proper vocal guidance and technique ANYONE can become a decent singer.

oof i respect ma zhe saying that he doesnt want to win bc he recognizes other kids like FRUIT PLANET KIDS, zy and xiao zhi, are so skilled. he knows winning is just a numbers game and would not serve as proof of his skill. thats a tough place to be in, and it isnt uncommon but i think i rarely hear a contestant say it like that. “i dont want to win bc im not worthy” “i dont want to win bc i know im not as talented” 

wow i was a little confused as to why they were doing these solo spotlights but actually this is really nice! its nice to see them really going hard at their strengths and really pouring their all in to show off a bit. it can be hard to do so in a group setting all the time, and really it reminds you that there a lot of really talented musicians among these kids. i think itll also be good to remind the kids who are picking later what the other kids’ skills are and what they’re capable of.

oof xiao xiong talking about hyt being overbearing and reminding him of his ANGRY DAD thats a big ouch. it is true that xiao xiong’s skill level may not be up to hyt’s standards, but i can see hyt doesnt respect him enough as a team member. the more familiar hyt gets with him, the more he isnt afraid to show his true feelings of frustration. esp bc theyre in such a stressful situation, it must be rough as a leader. also seems rough for xiao li to be stuck in between this. from the beginning hyt has shown himself to have high standards and he demands high quality so he isnt gonna be the soft, encouraging leader xiao xiong probably would prefer, unfortunately. ouch the way hyt straight up says “this is going to be painful” like theres nothing he can do about it and they just have to accept it. like ps says, he’s not good at understanding other people’s feelings, like he doesnt seem to be willing to try to understand xiao xiong’s. 

the way hyt lists what other people are doing and then asks xiao xiong “那你呢?” ouch........ that seems really mean? manipulative? harsh? but at the same time, we dont really know all the context so this is just want tencent wants us to think.

hyt also wants xiao zhi???? I cant imagine xiao zhi in this group, even tho itd probably be good for his possible debuting prospects, but xiao zhi gives me such a laid back, warm, taking care of everyone, creating a nice, supportive environment type of leader, and this group is literally the opposite of that??? ugh and yet, despite their superior group environment, fruit planet is at risk of getting disbanded... so sad.

OH MY GOODNESS XIAO LI IS LEAVING?????? i can understand though, this grouping is not ideal from a music making standpoint either, like why are there so many vocalists lol but also i respect that hes putting his music first and he knows what he wants and needs for his music. even if it means leaving hyt who is basically a guarantee for popularity on this show. im so surprised xiao xiong isnt saying he will leave too.. or even hyt himself at this point. theyre all just... crying.... but honestly how can they make music without xiao li??? 

AWH my heart.... xiao li asking xiao xiong “你會恨我嗎?” i have never felt “do you hate me” hit me in the feels like this before. its such an OOF. and xiao xiong saying hes super close to xiao li, you can tell hes been under such emotional duress and xiao li has supported him through and now hes just conflicted between betraying hyt (who he wouldnt be here without) and suffering with hyt without xiao li there to help. this is so sad to watch..... ok but honestly just seeing how in this emotional time, ma zhe and xiao xiong are talking to xiao li and NOT hyt says something about how theyre afraid to touch him. 

what xiao li says about hyt being kidnapped by his popularity makes so much sense, with what hyt said about chasing after his expectations and trying to live up to them. hes really not relaxed. ever. and i think thats what xiao li doesnt want to work with. i respect that he wants to be recognized for his music rather than just be recognized.

BUT ALSO i do think staying with hyt makes sense career-wise. gaining popularity first isnt a bad thing. and he can always (continue to) prove his worth and make all different types of songs in the future, whether during or after his time with hyt. but staying with hyt = exposure, and thats never a bad thing. its just... hopefully they can resolve their emotional issues from here on out.

technically the smart move is to pick a popular contestant like zhao ke, to boost your group’s popularity overall. BUT hyt is so popular it really doesnt matter LOL

man its so interesting bc i feel like on other shows, the contestants are always like “i dont want to get eliminated!” but here its like “i dont feel like i can fit into their music, id rather be eliminated.” its an interestingly different type of setting. i respect that they respect their own music, but i guess theyre not thinking enough about their future career progression? if they really want to make it in the music industry? idk. its interesting bc i feel like ljt has struggled so hard since getting eliminated from the first season that i assume / hope he has more of a mindset of wanting to make it to the end.
