getting nuis and nesos from japan
from a guy that looks at listings as a hobby and owns a few nuis
--
this post is mostly about project sekai since i see alot about how people don't really know much about merch from japan and looking at this stuff is kinda my hobby lol
getting stuff from japan is pretty good since its wayy cheaper, especially right now since yen to usd is really low rn (unsure about other countries currency sorry) usually prsk stuff is scalped to the point where its better to get it from japan even with the proxy fee lmao (the price for wanting merch for something popular)
getting merch from japan is actually really easy through proxy services, which will order things for you in japan and then ship them to you in the country you reside. i use mercari (a secondhand market) through buyee but there are other proxy services too, you should probably do some digging to find out which ones best for shipping to your country and area. i like buyee but it only takes foreign paypals so that can be a downside
if you want to find merch for a specific character i reccomend looking up how the chracters name is spelled in kanji/however its spelled in game (the spellings are usually on the wiki in the character info panel, you can also get them in game but its easier to copy paste) you can look it up in english but you might get prices aimed at american audiences and machine translation is famously terrible with names. if youre looking for merch from a less popular thing then you can look up the thing's name but thingsll usually be listed under character names
once you have the name you can put ぬい (nui, plush) or ねそべり(nesoberi, those laying down ones.) there are probably other kinds but these are the ones i look into lol
if you want fast results you can go to the recommended tab in the top right but if you have the time i reccomend sorting by lowest price and digging through untill you find what you want, whichll probably give you the best price
for project sekai specifically if you want cheap plushes be a fan of leoni, momojan, or anhane lol popular character merch is anywhere from 1.5x to 3x more expensive than unpopular characters. even so itll be less expensive than english ebay lol. under the cut i have the usual pricing ive seen for prsk plushes but it all depends since mercari is basically japanese ebay, so this is only for old merch and crane game prizes. if you want more recent merch im sure theres people who buy lots and resell, i dont have any reccomendations for project sekai but i know @/enstarsgoods on twitter does this for enstars
(rant i did on this post's tags about nui pricing) [the chibi eye nuis r anywhere from 600¥ ($4) to 2000¥ ($14) depending on if its a guy/niigo or not (lmao) and nesos get up to 7000¥ ($45) (for guys) (i saw some of the girl ones listed around 4000¥ [$26]) and nesos arent listed (as) often. idk anything about the dot eye nuis and nuigarumis since i dont like how they look (lol)
keep in mind that these r resales so theyre a bit more expensive than if u just ordered one when they were in stock like nesos r originally only ¥2750 ($18) but r scalped to hell especially on english ebay]
on top of the price for the goods youll buy you also have to pay japan shipping (usually this is included but sometimes it isnt, it is on every listing if this is the case or not as well as the price) as well as a conversion fee per item which isnt much (i got away with 900¥ ($6) in total for 5 items) and shipping from japan to your country (for me it was ¥2300 [15] but i live in a very easy place to ship to so it may cost more for you) this is about the same as ebay shipping cost wise (for me at least)
--
i dont really know what people do with their project sekai nuis (except blend?? burn?? milk copypasta irl..) but with enstars people usually put cute clips in their hair and blush them which is super cute. people also make nui costumes that you can buy. you can search ぬい服 (nui clothes) and usually put the type of nui you have's origin/size (since they can be different demensions) people don't make them for project sekai nuis but im sure there are outfits available in that size/patterns around somewhere

I already sent you an ask on this and then FORGOR but any recommendations on where to start with majikoi? Is there a "best" version etc? I am stupid and unsure what's just a release vs different version etc
WELL NOW THIS IS A DAMN GOOD QUESTION AS MAJIKOI IS A LONG SERIES!!!
But unlike some vn franchises (Fate) there is a clear starting point and the quality doesn't drop like a fucking rock! But the naming conventions they ascribe to with Majikoi are somewhat annoying cause yeah their titles dont really scream "THIS IS A SEQUEL WITH ALMOST TRIPLE THE CONTENT" not to mention how "Majikoi" is not actually the name of any of the visual novels but a shortened title given by fans as the actual name is annoyingly long to say
So the order to play is simple:
Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai! <-(Commonly refereed to by fans as Majikoi or Majikoi O)
Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! S <-(Commonly refereed to by fans as Majikoi S)
Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! A-1
Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! A-2
Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! A-3
Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! A-4
Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! A-5
NOW while Majikoi O and Majikoi S are very much Sequels to each other there is not a true route in O that S's plot hinges off of, S actually ends up giving six short after story routes just going into more details about the circumstances and events (but mostly more CG's and HCG's of the main 5 girls from O). But S's new content does hinge on you having played O before as it expects you to already know the characters of the story so it spends little time introducing them in favor of spending its focus on the characters added in S. S is also INSANELY longer than O like I havent actually verified but going by my gut I would say its double or triple the length
On the subject of Majikoi A-1 through A-5 those five vn's are SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than O or S being only three routes each (I think one of them might even only have two routes) now these are full routes and the writing is on par with even in some surpassing a lot of the original two's route writing there. Good thing is Minato soft were gracious enough to release Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! A Set which is just all five A games packaged together!
Quickly I will also touch on Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de which shares characters and is set in the same universe and timeline as the Majikoi games but as it is quite old an no fan or offical translation exists I wouldnt go seeking it out. Mostly is just neat trivia as some characters fro Kimi do get a cameo in Majikoi S and the A's
As for obtaining these visual novels so far only Majikoi O has gotten a full and official English translation and release with a downloadable version being purchasable on Steam and Jast (apparently jast is a publisher never heard of them befor this)
For the rest of the series I personally Imported the Japanese copies cause im an absolute crazy person who likes this visual novel series way way too much, I believe they are purchasable outside of Japan on Minato Softs store (Of course there is also ☠️ if you so choose that option) you can get the Unofficial translations which are all but indistinguishable from an official release TL over from Majitranslations

OKAY
NOW THE PROMISED RAMBLE
So uh I have weird obsessions every now and then and I thought why not ramble about em here bc Twitter is scary and idfk I wanna see other people get into new stuff
Topic of the day: Mahjong
Tumblr media
When I was taking a plane back home after visiting with family, I saw that the plane had a game called Mahjong. I thought "Huh, like Solitaire Mahjong?", but nope, it was a completely different game to what I was normally accustumed to. So as usual, after the plane ride was over, I decided to research the game and found myself a really fun game to spend time on!
So Mahjong is a really popular and old game that originates in China. It is a four-player strategic game often played with marble/wood tiles that are used to create hands to win the game. This game has sO many variations around asia, hell even America made their own mahjong variation (Which I personally dislike bc it makes it wayyy too close to poker). The main premise of the game is similar across the variations, so its not hard to get into different types of mahjong if you started off with something different. The one I got into was Riichi Mahjong, which is the Japanese variation of mahjong. (Note: Imma delve into the basics of the Jp variation of Mahjong bc I think it is the most readily available to play online and is the most popular)
Tumblr media
So how does one play this game? The game has several tiles and your goal is to make a complete hand of 14 tiles having four sets of Chi/Pon/Kan (Will explain in a bit) and a pair of the same tile. The game has three suits, all numbered from 1-9. They are known as:
Pin/Dots: Use little circles that go from 1-9
Tumblr media
Sou/Bamboo: Use bamboo that go from 1-9, the 1 is unique in which it is often represented as a bird such as a peacock or a sparrow.
Tumblr media
Man/Characters: Use the chinese/japanese symbols for the numbers 1-9 (一、二、三、四、五、六、七、八、九) and the symbol for 10,000 (萬)
Tumblr media
Along with these suits are the honor tiles:
Winds: Use the chinese/japanese characters for the cardinal East, South, West, and North directions (東、南、西、北)
Tumblr media
Dragons: Arent denoted by their character, but instead by their color. So they are simply known as the white, green, and red dragons.
Tumblr media
In other variations, there may be flower tiles and season tiles, which represent the four seasons in a year (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall), they serve as bonus tiles if they are drawn and can grant bonus points.
So now that we are familiar with the tiles, our goal is to now make that 14 tile hand that we mentioned. This is achieved by drawing a tile when it is your turn and discarding one you dont need. As you do this, you start forming a pile in the center that consists of all of your and your opponents discards. These discards are very important bc you can actually take your opponents discards to gain a hand! This is known as Chi/Pon/Kan!
A Chi is a set of three tiles of the same suit that go in a sequential order (So like a 1-2-3, 5-6-7, etc.), note that only the suits can do this, you cant do this with honor tiles! A Pon is a triplet of the same tile, and a Kan is a quad of the same tile! Kans are harder to get bc each tile has four copies of its own, meaning you have to be really lucky to draw all four during a match!
When you see a peice that has been discarded but can complete a Chi/Pon/Kan, you can call the piece and take it as your own! For Chi, you can only call to the discards of the player to the left of you (The turns are played counter-clockwise), but for Pon/Kan, you can call whichever player who discards it.
Here is an example of a player who called Pon on the 9 Sou and a Chi on the 2-3-4 Pin. The tiles are tilted on which player they got it from, so the Pon was called from the player to their right and the Chi has to be from the left so the left is tilted.
Tumblr media
This makes the game really exciting and strategic, making you think about what tiles you discard while making your own hand.
Now how does one win a match? There are two ways to win, and these are either by Tsumo or Ron.
Tsumo is when you finally get the last tile you needed by drawing it, this one is pretty tough to get imo. Then theres Ron, where the piece you needed is discarded by a player and you call on their discard to win. This one I think is not only easier to get, but also more brutal since Tsumo makes everyone lose points depending on the hand, and Ron instead takes a BUNCH of points from the person who discarded it.
Heres an example of someone winning by Tsumo, they drew the 5 Sou to complete their hand!
Tumblr media
SO UH
Imma wrap this up bc I realized theres so many more rules to go off about but I kidna wanna keep this short so if you want to get into this, you can do some research on other details such as Riichi, Yaku, Dora, etc.
I do wanna end this with how cool some of the Mahjonf equipment is. There are these tables that are fully automated and can help start the game with a simple push of a button!
Tumblr media
I MEAN LOOK AT THIS THIS IS SO COOL
I also own a physical set myself, but due to image limitations I might have to show that in a sep post lmfoa
So yahoo thats me going nuts about a game I like. Will I do more of these? Possibly, I might do Yugioh or Chess if Im in the mood.
For now Imma detonate into confetti bc this took half an hour or more so sæyAA

okay i have Feelings about NEO: TWEWY and nobody to shout them at because literally nobody else I know plays it which is truly a crime; the original twewy remains one of my favourite games to this day.  but anyway.  massive NEO TWEWY spoilers inbound:
First of all it truly is a miracle that this game even exists.  I never once actually believed we’d get a sequel.  Let alone one this good!! It is really, really good!!!
Things I Enjoyed:
- The gameplay.  Whoo boy.  Up to about 4 team members, anyway.  It’s fast paced, button mashing satisfaction, that manages to keep elements from the original game while still being fresh and fun, if not entirely chaotic, which is why after 4 characters, it was a bit like, ‘okay, chill, let us switch out or something’ lmao
- The new characters.  Although I feel like we leave the game not knowing as much about them as I would like, the new team are really great, and Nagi in particular really shone in terms of character grown.  Rindo.. I feel like I know as little about him now as I did at the start :|a Maybe I just missed something.
I honestly found the teams and their leaders kinda forgettable >>;; Although the heel-face turn on Motoi was pretty great.  I needed more from Kanon to feel anything when she, yknow.
The new reapers were... a mixed bunch. Shoka was fantastic, Susukichi was... a bit much in English, great in Japanese, Tsugumi was great but didn’t get enough screen time (unless she gets more post game, I dunno yet) Shiba annoyed the fuck outta me, Kaie was alright.. the others... meh.  They don’t hold up to Kariya and Uzuki. And obviously Kubo sucks ass pfft
- The reappearing characters.  of course i loved them.  i got a hit of serotonin every time one appeared on my screen. neku my son. josh  the reapers.  i was never a huge minamimoto stan lmao but he was fun. even curry don. but some were DIRELY underutilised which i WILL COME BACK TO
- THE MUSIC.  twewy cannot fail on its music, it’s amazing, it’s glorious, it’s multi faceted, it goes hard. and adding in Beat’s psyche, a rhythm mini game acting as the fast walk button???? yes. yes yes yes yes.  yessssssss.
- The graphics.  Mostly.  Everything looked beautiful, and HD, and the character designs were great - not toooooooooo Nomura but Nomura enough, yknow? And the occasional chibi faces were great lol.  The chaotic battles sometimes caused lag which... I mean, they coulda given us the option to turn off some of the animations or damage graphics lmao but hey.  the forced perspective on shibuya was a bit off occasionally but it was how the original game did it and it’s all for the ~aesthetic~ so hey.  And it was great seeing some of the original locations looking so much more fleshed out
- The Localisation.  Personally, I think the translators struck a perfect balance that made the kids seem like they’d fit right into today’s culture.  It wasn’t forced, it wasn’t ‘look at us we are Teenagers’, it was right on the mark.  And it was really, really interesting hearing just how different the Japanese VA lines were compared to the English translations.  They really went all out and it paid off, imo.
Dislikes: (i haven’t read the secret reports yet tho)
- UNDERUTILISATION OF THE ORIGINAL CHARACTERS - now, look, okay, I’m biased.  I admit it.  I’m a Josh and Neku stan lmao, so I was looking forward to seeing them the whole game.  And as it went on and on and I realised I wouldn’t be until much later, it bummed me out.  The bait n’ switch with Beat was funny at first, and I enjoyed it a lot, until I realised that yeah, that’s what they’re going with.  Beat’s probably my least favourite partner from the original (sorry) but even disregarding that, it annoys me that they gave him like 10,000x more screen time than even Neku.
Not to mention Shiki and Joshua!  Josh in particular I could write a whole essay on how pissed I am.  The lost potential.  Nobody mentioning him, ever, once.  Until he just sorta shows up and says a few things.  It makes NO SENSE, he’s the fucking composer, Neku and Beat worked with him, why aren’t they questioning his whereabouts when Shibuya’s turning to shit??????’  I just?????? I had low hopes for Josh content tbf but I am still disappointed :( And naught but one singular Hanekoma mention, as well.  Sigh.
Shiki, it’s a shame she doesn’t appear more, she certainly could have - I can think of like 5 ways off the top of my head - having her as a partner would have also been extremely good.
Neku at least we got..... half a week with. and as a PC.  And like, I know it’s not supposed to be about them, but throw us a bit more than cheap fanservice, yknow. And Kariya and Uzuki were great too.
- why, oh why, was every single team lackey male????  they couldn’t be arsed to make female designs????? it baffled me.
- SO. MUCH. SHIBUYA. TRAVERSING.  I don’t remember if it was that bad in the original?! But oh my god lol.  I think a lot of it was padding.  Sure felt like it.  Paired with the slightly hand hold-y mission progression cutscenes, they coulda cut a bunch of those out.
Other Stuff:
- The voice acting - fantastic in Japanese, okay in English, except for the returning characters?? didn’t sound great??? in english??? I was hyped to turn English back on for Beat but.... nah. Nahhh.  Nagi’s English VA was absolutely the best imo.
- They nailed the feel of the old game without totally copying it - the food, clothes, general aesthetic, music.  That said, it still felt a little too tied to the original.  Ironic considering the rant above I know lmao but... yeah.  The player psyches were a nice touch but I feel like it needed something to set it apart a lil more from its predecessor.
- I didn’t realise A New Day existed until literally today and I wish I had seen it before I played Neo.  Now I know who Coco is lmao.  And Shinjuku’s erasure was part of that too! arghhhh. Nomura stop burying plot points in other things.  I’m a DS OG dont do this to me
- Rindo’s time travel power was cool but jumping back to the same point like 3 or 4 times in some cases got old
- You could really feel the KH3 energy of ‘play 30 hours until something or someone pivotal finally appears’ lol.  Nomuraaaaa.
... anyway.
TL;DR good game, needed more Josh, also needs more fans please

heya! do you have any games you love a ton but they're old/niche/"bad" enough that people generally don't know it?
Okage: Shadow King! People who already love it absolutely still adore it, but if you never got in on the ground level in like, 2002, I dont know that you would find anything worthwhile in it. Its very dated! For a while it was a sort of grail to have a copy that would actually run on your PS2 after a certain date, because it was one of the old blue back discs and after a certain point they just sort of...gave up, but you can get it on the PlayStation network now. Probably for pretty cheap! Its DEEPLY "quirky japanese" from a time when that wasnt really a thing we were getting a lot of over here (I didnt know what an Idol was in 2002, I just fucking went with it) and the UI is an...experience lol. Its fun though.
The .hack// stuff was....honestly wild! A single player mock-MMO on your PS2, complete with an in-game browser to check the news, read forum posts, and exchange emails with other (fake)players/characters. It was a real media monolith in the early aughts, with four games in the main series, an anime, OVAs, some novels and more, and there was so much lore crossing over between all of it, and clues for in game secrets you could find in the OVAs and magazine ads and stuff. It was sooooo cool. Visually, it has also aged like room temperature milk, and as cool as all that stuff sounds, and definitely was to college aged me, it sounds like a slog in my old age. FOUR GAMES? No thanks. Time moves too fast in ones 30s. The dungeons also were repetitive and ugly, so like....I will probably never revisit these games. (The G.U. games were better looking, but also didnt really stick with me much. Check them out if you loooooove to hear Yuri Lowenthal scream a lot.)
Baten Kaitos/Baten Kaitos Origins for the Gamecube. Obscure, card based RPGs. They have their issues (the first one feels so similar to Final Fantasy X in some ways it seems like it cant be a coincidence) but they both pulled absolutely BIZARRE plot twists that I still think about to this day. Also the card system IS pretty cool and some of the music is soooo good, I used to leave the game on to sleep to lol
oh shit I almost forgot FRAGILE DREAMS: FAREWELL RUINS OF THE MOON, a melancholy RPG for the WII that sort of plays like a survival horror about death at the end of the world. Its tragic and beautiful and a little spooky and the environments are gorgeous. I think this game is still excellent, but I know like only two people who have ever played it, and one of them was because I bought it for them.
I'm a currently poking at a MUSHROOM HUNTING SIM, yes you read that correctly, called Morels: The Hunt. This is not a joke. Want to stumble around in lovingly rendered forests from several different American ecosystems, getting poison ivy and ticks, snapping photos of birds, squirrels, deer, and maybe even bigfoot? While also trying to find morels, I guess? Have I got the game for you. I unironically love it. (I'm also playing this game while experimenting with recording gameplay vids for YouTube, because if not me, then who??)

Ephemeral dark on fantasy
My opinion on ephemeral is mixed but not all bad. as someone whos played otome games for years this game is far from bad i wouldnt consider it bad at all but that being said it definitely lacks lustre i feel the stories lack something like it's not all there the only time the routes really grabbed me would be in the final chapters when its coming to an end do the stories and relationships really shine through and make me want to keep reading i love how they ended the stories in lovers but everything up till that feels very vague and not as well strung together, more so like they where trying to just fill space to give the game more meat to last longer., the art isnt bad but they are extremely average, music was standard nothing to write home about, translation isnt horrible from the original but could have used a little more detail there are a hand full of typos and some broken sentences, i played the original Japanese before the English and from what i see it isnt too far off with its translations now as for the price heres my opinion, 45 wasnt a bad price for the actual game for vita because i got a hard copy and some little bonuses BUT for a steam game where all your getting is the online version in English, with awkward translation and lack lustre game play i dont think it's worth 45 dollars, i feel most the money went towards the voice actors which where amazing given you understand japanese if your someone who has played many otomes i wouldnt really recommend this one i dont feel your missing much by skipping over it especially for that price but i wouldnt hands down not mention it either, if you have the spare money id say get it because it has some redeeming factors and isnt just money down the drain
over all id give the game a 6.5 out of 10.
pros i liked how they separated the   before dating/after dating routes, the art was good it wasn't oddly proportion in the cgs which i find a lot of otomes have trouble with and the layout was nice
cons, as i said before some endings where great BUT  i feel like they should have kept that sort of attention and story telling all through the chapters instead of just at the end becuse most of it feels like un needed filler not even character development which was really disappointing becuse i feel like i wasted time reading through things that really didnt further the story or help you learn about others . i feel they would have benefited from an extra route or 2 with robin or oliva even as a dlc it would have been nice especially given that those are the only 2 other characters your age with full sprite sets and given the game is 45  more wouldnt have hurt, last off the music, they have a whole playlist pretty much in bonuses but you only really hear 3 of them and the title song and i think music is a big part in these games given it helps with the feeling and mood while reading and it was just a waste to not use it

myshatebat hat auf deinen Eintrag geantwortet “myshatebat hat auf deinen Eintrag geantwortet “Translation...”
Maybe so but Neko is still cat no matter who translates is all i'm saying. If ur gonna be mad at anyone be mad at rejet for not localising. Or if u want u could say ur all stealing from rejet for "copying and editting" their work with translations. Ur translations probly everywhere anyway just cos 1 person is easy to find u pick on them. I dont understand people like that. Why does it all have to be about self satisfaction when u didn't even make the game?
Why cant u just translate to improve ur japanese. And if someone takes notice then bonus. If someone is copying then it shows they appreciate ur work and are spreading it round to help others too. Taking credit is always bad no matter what the cause but making big hate posts drawing attention to someone is worse. Also theres a difference between story writing and translating cos ur stealing the idea from a story. Translating the idea is already there ur just editting it.
I'm not taking anyones side cos at the end of the day translations all say the same thing anyway was just my message. Yes its wrong to steal but it should just be about helping others understand.  I'll admit I speak to the person in question which is why i spoke up but I am not taking any sides and do hope things get figured out. I have suggested to her already to put ur names down if she does restart her blog. But it just annoys me that people are so hateful over a game
We’re talking about Japanese here, where there’s always a lot of interpretation going on. “Yui wa kowai desu ne?”, for example, could mean “Yui is scared, isn’t she?”, “Yui is scary, isn’t she?” or “You’re scared, Yui, aren’t you?”. Three kinda different things, huh?
Even if the words technically mean the same thing, let’s take the meme thingy that went around as an example; compare “Forgive me father, for I have sinned” with “Sorry daddy, I’ve been naughty”. The words technically have the same meaning, but they don’t quite say the same, do they?
No two translations are exactly alike, no more than two texts describing the same picture, or two pieces of fanart. To throw a random example out there: The Bible. I doubt any other book has so much discussion over which translation is correct; do you think that’d happen if they all said the same? Interpretation and writing style make a LOT of difference, together with the question whether it’s better to stick closer to the source, or translate more freely so it’d be more understandable or relatable to the target audience (The infamous “Jelly Donuts” from Pokémon, for example).
Sure, it’d be best if Rejet decided to localise. They don’t, though. But the thing is, nobody believes I created DL. They all know those things are Rejet’s, that I’m just translating. And, since Rejet probably cares more about money than credit, I’m not hurting their finances with this, either.
Because there’s other, easier, and more fun things to do for improving my Japanese. I could, y’know, just play the games. And even if I did translate them as practice, why would I post them? That’s just extra work, with the formatting etc.
And no. If they’re reblogging my stuff, or reposting with credit, they’re showing appreciation. Especially, as some do, if they reblog with a nice comment or thought in the tags. I love that. I love likes, reblogs, comments, all that; THAT shows appreciation. Copying it, saying “Hey, look, I translated this!”? That doesn’t. If they wanted to spread it around, there’s a reblog button. Right. There.
As I said, I do both. They’re different, but that doesn’t change how much work translating is. And how much difference a translation can make. You keep saying “they all say the same thing”, but... They don’t. They really don’t. First, as I said, interpretation. I remember in the Prologue, there was a sentence from Laito which was something along the lines of “Oh, she’s desert, then”. But it could also be translated as “Oh, she’s the fapping material, then”. No difference? Laito being Laito, he obviously meant the dual meaning; desert still has that. But it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for Laito to outright call someone fapping material, either.
It wasn’t a hate post. It was a heads up, informing people that, y’know, that person stole hours of work from others and pretended it was her own. If someone stole your bicycle, would you go “Oh well, that’s sad, but having them arrested would be worse”? They made a conscious decision to steal someone else’s work, and refused to give credit when they were asked to.
If I find someone posting my translations, I’d just ask them for credit. But what am I supposed to do if they refuse? I don’t wanna just “accept” that others might claim credit for my work. So, I’ll tell other people that those translations were originally my work. I don’t want people to get hate, but I DO want people to know that I’m the one who did the work. If I caught people sending threats to others over my translations, I’d block them. But a call-out for something that was NOT ages ago? After being notified of that thing, but refusing to do anything? That’s something very different.

Hello i've read all your theory about D agency personalities. It's really help me to know more about them. Um.. if you dont mind, can you tell me something about Gamou & Sakuma personality? i'm curious to know. Thank you
I’m glad I was of some use!
Hum... those two are the hardest actually because they change a lot according to the media they’re in. D no Maou and the stage for example changed quite a bit Sakuma’s personality, while the anime changed Gamo’s personality making it rather different from the original novel.
As everyone seems to be into the Joker Game anime, I’ll assume you’re asking about Sakuma and Gamo from the anime and I’ll use the other media only when they don’t contrast with the anime canon.
So Sakuma.
Tumblr media
Sakuma is very much a representative of a man of his time, or better of how a man of his time was expected to be, with all the good points he was meant to have. He’s serious, honest, hardworking, fair, loyal, capable of self reflection, observant and attentive.
In the novel we learn he was one of the best at the army academy and, always in the novel, Odagiri will comment on how the D Agency spies physical training was something he believed one needs Army training to pass (he was suprised when the other spies, clearly not from the Army, would pass it).
If we compare what the novel says about Sakuma’s ability at the academy:
“Sakuma, who had a fair amount of confidence in his observation andmemorizing skills, had graduated from the Academy with flying colours, and wasconsidered to be an “elite”; yet, he could only describe the abilities of theexaminees as “unusual”.“  [“Joker Game: Chap 1 Joker Game]
and what it says about Odagiri/Tobisaki:
“At the Military PreparatorySchool and Imperial Japanese Army Academy, he was almost always getting the topresults. This wasn’t to impress anyone else, it was his natural abilities andpride that had made it happen.” [Joker Game: Chap 5 XX]
we can speculate the two are more or less even in regard to ‘soldier abilities’.
What Odagiri seems to best Sakuma is his ability at memorizing meaningless details.
Tumblr media
Note that Sakuma too is attentive to details, he’ll figure Muto was hungover or how Gordon’s reaction isn’t the standard one but his attention focus on only certain details, details that seem relevant to him.
You might say he has a more selective memory than the D boys who remember and observe EVERYTHING.
Back to Sakuma he is probably meant to have all the virtues a man of his time was meant to have, only if you turn them around they can very well become flaws. Because he’s fair and honest, his first approach to the Joker Game is to expect the boys would be fair and honest as well.
Although the boys are civilians they’re now working for the Army so he expect they would keep a behaviour that would be commendable for a soldier.
So it’s not exactly he’s naive, it’s just he didn’t consider them cheating because to him it’s ‘unnatural’.
He didn’t immediately think Gordon might have hidden the cyphers behind the emperor’s portrait not because he’s lazy or not attentive or anything but because there’s such a strong taboo in touching it (people committed suicide for doing it) he didn’t even consider the idea because to him it would be ‘unnatural’.
In fact for most time he will see the D boys as ‘not human’ because they do things that to him are ‘unnatural’, therefore he can’t understand them and he’s sort of weirded out when not outright disgusted by their behaviour.
He needs to be explained it, and only then he can work it out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see he managed to understand Tazaki’s explanation in the end and even use it to figure out something about Tazaki.
What I always found very interesting though, was that Sakuma was sent them to report the D boys misbehaviours and they, especially in the novel, misbehaved quite seriously and yet he won’t tattle them out to Muto.
Yuuki asked him if he was a spy but Sakuma denied and we can see in the end he hadn’t spied them.
It’s hinted Sakuma had friends before coming to D Agency, which points at how he was actually a social guy, although in D Agency he can’t socialize well with the boys. Side material though shows him not shy to praise the boys when they do well.
Tumblr media
Considering Sakuma was an army academy student and this sort of studies was expensive it’s possible his family is either well off or upper class.
It’s speculated the baby is Sakuma which would make his father a member of the Army as well.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, when Sakuma finally manages to connect the dots and understand why the D boys were the way they were, he overcomes his problems at accepting their words and is disappointed in himself for not figuring it out sooner.
Sakuma is very self aware. Although a side of him is flattered Yuuki asked him to join D Agency, he chooses not to because he realizes he himself is a soldier and will remain as such... although his beliefs has shifted a bit in fact he claims he refuses to let people use any longer (which wasn’t a thought a soldier should have).
In the drama cd we see that when Sakuma has the role of the teacher and therefore he’s in a mindset that’s less against the D boys behaviour, he’s very supportive of them, considering their duty to stand at their side even when he believed there could be a bomb in the place.
He still remains a guy scolding prone though ^_-
Now Gamo.
Tumblr media
In the novel version Gamo was one of the D Agency students but the anime turned him into a Wind Agency students.
What we can infer from this? He’s likely another soldier, like Sakuma and Odagiri, only he’s probably one who also had attended to the War College (Sakuma and Odagiri stopped at Army Academy) because Kazato was affronted Yuuki would refuse people from the War college and likely, in retaliation, he made his pick among members of the war college.
As a consequences Gamo is likely older than all the D boys and possibly than Sakuma and might outrank him (although in the past I speculated the Wind Agency boys were also second lieutenants this is unlikely as people needed to be first lieutenants or captains to attend to the war college).
Wind Agency copied its training method from D Agency, so Gamo too is very capable, but not its phylosophy and, as a consequence, its members are probably less open minded than D Agency members.
They prefer to kill to solve problems. It’s also meaningful how in the novel D Agency Gamo didn’t ask for the key to Graham’s safe as he knew how to open it on his own, while anime Wind Agency Gamo wanted it.
You can speculate this means Wind Agency members are either less well versed at opening safes or just more reluctant at doing it.
The previews gives me the feeling Gamo is one who has a view of the world that’s very ‘fight like’.
With Jitsui he remarks his view of chess is of a violent sport...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
with Odagiri that chess isn’t about winning or losing but about living or dying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this I’ll say he betrays his nature as a soldier who sees everything as a war in which he’ll either kill the other part or die trying.
Although Gamo graduated in Wind Agency while working on the Graham’s case he is shown often near Kazato so maybe he either trusted him in a special way or has taken a liking to him (though more likely the truth is the other poor Wind Agency guys were just stand in).
Tumblr media
Gamo can clearly look friendly, humble, he’s attentive but he probably is similar to Sakuma as he overlooks some relevant details. He can be cold and ruthless but, I think, he views himself as a patriot not as a bad guy.
It might be not really relevant but the draws of his chibi version seem to point out he can be pretty cheerful (though we also saw as he could be stone cold) and how he too, like everyone in this story really, is a smoker.
From the picture in which he place away the books I’ll say he’s a guy who’s ordered and precise. However from the way in the story in which he murders in cold blood Cho, stabbing him in the back I’ll say he’s not a honest boy like Sakuma, but won’t hesitate in using dirty tricks Sakuma would find dishonourable.
He seems to be good at analyzing people through chess but he can let himself be fooled by Morishima/Jitsui deceptively harmless appearance.
I hope it helps! Thanks for your ask!

Heres some pro game collecting tips for beginners.
I've been collecting for a few years now and I've had the benefit of living near retro gaming shop were the owner has taught me alot about retro collecting. Heres some protips I've learned over the years and have been taught by other collectors.
1.) Inspect what you buy. Super obvious, but you'd pe surprised how often a small detail is overlooked causing you to loose out on an otherwise good deal. Ask if you can play test the game/console. Itll save save you alot of head ache especially if you dont know someone who can service consoles/discs.
2.) Certain consoles didnt see alot if good releases in the west. Region breaking some of them is way easier than you think. The Sega Saturn for example just needs a cheat device instead of a console mod.
3.) Learn some basic repair/maintenance skills. You'll save money on basic maintenance on things like misaligned lasers, loose disk trays, and other little things that can cause problems with your retro hardware.
4.) If you find a good deal on a game in good shape, get it if you can. You have no idea how many times I've missed out on some great new additions to my collect because I decided to hold off a week, and then someone bought it or the value skyrocketed. (Please dont spend food or rent money on games like I tend to do)
5.) DONT MAKE BACKUP DISCS/ BOOTLEGS OF DREAMCAST GAMES. It's super easy, but CDs are really bad for the motor in the laser.
6.) Just because a game looks prestine, doesnt mean it works. I ran into this alot with dreamcast for some reason.
7.) Be super friendly with local pawnshops, thrift stores, and gaming stores. You'll get better deals, sometimes first dibs, learn some new things, AMD maybe even find some new favorite games through recommendations. Several local shops have my number incase some cool games come in.
8.) Nostalgia is a bitch. It can pressure you into buying games for way too much money, or trick you into thinking the game you lived when you were 5 was the best game ever. Sometimes it's great when you get reconnected with something great from your past. (Metroid Prime, and Herdy Gerdy for me)
9.) This is especially true for fighting games, but try to find copies of games with the manual. Not only is it cool to have a complete copy of a game, theres usually some helpful or cool information in them.
10.) Some game cartridges and even systems, like the Sega Saturn. rely on a battery for saving. Keep some 2032 batteries on hand just incase and back up your saves on consoles that allow you to do so.
11.) Yes the Dreamcast disc reader is normally that loud, and yes that VMU in the controller is supposed to scream at you.
12.) Import consoles can be way cheaper. A Super Famicom goes for way less than its American sibling, and so do the games. Alot of games you dont even need to speak japanese to play!
13.) Buy the best video cables you can for your systems, especially if rocking a modern HDTV. VGA, SCART, COMPONENT, RGB all look way better than standard AV. You'll thank me for this one.
14.) Light Guns ONLY WORK ON CRT TVS. Games like House of the Dead, Duck Hunt, and Virtua Cop, will not work on an HDTV with their original releases. The Wii ports of light games are great because of this.
15.) The Sega Saturn is severely underrated once you factor in how cheap the accessories can be and hundreds of fantastic imports you can play.
16.) Yellowing of an old console (atleast in my experience) is typically caused by being in a smoking home. It's very easy to scrub the nastys off.
17.) Always keep some isopropyl alcohol and q tips on hand. Never know when and what you'll have to clean out a cartridge or console (especially if it's a disc based console.)
18.) Old dos games can still run from the original floppy disk/CD if you have the needed hardware and the DOS emulator DOSbox
18.) Most importantly, have fun. It's not about having the best collection. It's about enjoying video games and their history. Play your games, buy games that others wouldn't, but you enjoy. You like Crono Trigger on SNES? Awesome. You like that one weird Barbie game from PS1? That's just as cool. It's about YOUR enjoyment, not someone else's.
Feel free to add more tips to help some people out, and newbies, share your cool stuff with me! I wanna see what you got :)

Sorry if this is a stupid question but i re-bout pokemon diamond recently (i lost the original one i had probably 6 years ago it was a long time) and do you know if there is anyway for me to get a celebi? I know you cant catch them and ive tried to look it up but all the answers are from 2011. Is there any other way to get a celebi? She’s my favorite pokemon and i dont have any friends who have one available to trade
hey! i really love fourth gen despite what everyone says about them, so i’d be super glad to help you.
celebi is super stupidly rare because it’s a mythical pokemon, but there is a way to get one legitly. the japanese bonus disc of pokemon colosseum  is the only 100% not cheating way to get one.
Tumblr media
the positives:1.) the bonus disc comes with 48 celebis! you can transfer all 48 to them to different pokemon rse save files! 48 legit celebis!!!2.) there’s also a special bonus pikachu that comes with this disc!3.) you can easily transfer these celebis up through pal park to diamond4.) these discs are SUPER rare, so if you end up picking one up you’re basically a god
the downsides:1.) you have to have a japanese gamecube / a modded english gamecube that can play and save foreign games2.) you have to have a japanese copy of pokemon colosseum (they go for around 15-30 dollars from what i’ve seen which is not bad at all)3.) you have to complete the entire story mode of colosseum and purify + catch all shadow pokemon4.) and finally own a japanese copy of pokemon emerald, ruby or sapphire and the wireless adaptor that allows the gamecube to communicate with a gameboy advance (you have to complete the japanese ruby sapphire or emerald in order to access pal park to trade up to diamond)
a tutorial about the whole process can be found here, so if this seems like something you want to do someday, check it out.
there is another way to get celebi, but it’s debatably a little trickier than simply unlocking it in japanese colosseum. here’s a post on how to unlock event pokemon in 4th gen specifically. i know celebi was distributed, so maybe unlocking it there would be an alternative to colosseum?

What are your anime suggestions, I’ve been trying to get into it but I don’t really know what to watch
Hey there! and yeeesss, i’m so glad you’re gonna give anime a try! there are so many good stories and plots in anime which dont exist in western media so it’s a great mode of entertainment! so as for recs, lemme copy and paste my previous answer to this similar question and update it to answer yours!
As for starter anime, I think these are good ones you can start with and have received widespread acclaim:
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Hunter X Hunter
Gakuen Babysitters (feel good anime that has babies!!)
Yuri! On Ice (gay anime)
Madoka Magica
Cowboy Bebop
—–
You can keep track of what I watch and watched through following my MyAnimeList account:
https://myanimelist.net/profile/carlowesome
I do my best to update that one. It’s kinda like an active anime journal where you can document the anime you watch, plan to watch, and completed but here are individual links for each
watched - https://myanimelist.net/animelist/carlowesome?status=2
watching - https://myanimelist.net/animelist/carlowesome?status=1
to watch - https://myanimelist.net/animelist/carlowesome?status=6
If you need to read like some opinions about all the anime I watch and have watched then click ‘Read More’. I put a mini paragraph next to each anime and also categorize them. However, i don’t want to overwhelm you too much but I’ll just put this down for your reference anyway.
[last updated: 28 Apr 2018]
Currently watching:
Neon Genesis Evangelion - i admit it has a slow buildup but be patient because you will really find it intense and see how it’s not your typical mecca anime. so far, i think it seems to be a deconstruction of the genre and has alot of psychological themes
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - i dont know why my memory about this anime is somehow a blur. i’m sure i finished it but also not so i’m rewatching it and honestly i think this is a good starter anime. i know many people who do not normally watch anime and watched this
Boku no Hero Academia - it’s a recent anime and it’s really good! i think it’s on course to becoming a really big anime that will last many seasons at this rate. the story is about a world where majority of the inhabitants are heroes cause they have quirks (powers).. and the premise is that the main character doesnt have one but he wants to be a hero so watch and see how the story unfolds
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures (currently on Stardust Crusaders) - macho anime with an excellent plot! the guys are hot haha and many of the memes are in japanese so watch the original subbed but if you prefer not to read, the dub isnt bad. it’s very memey but the story is really entertaining and has unpredictable moments
One Punch Man - a parody of a superhero anime. tbh this isnt really binge-watch material cause it’s like a running gag and the story unfolds after episode 5 so i’ve just been watching this during my cardio days in the gym. but it’s a parody of a superhero anime
Hunter X Hunter - this anime is popular and it’s about hunters. so the beginning has the protagonist wanting to be a hunter and then he meets some fellow hunters along the way. it’s one of the highest rated anime in MyAnimeList (the RottenTomatoes equivalent of the anime world) so yeah check this out!
Tokyo Ghoul - the opening song is what captivated me to watch this tbh. although i heard the manga is better. it’s interesting though
Anime currently airing and I’m caught up on (just waiting for the next season to air)
Gakuen Babysitters - super feel good anime about babies!!!!!
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - super funny anime. if you need a laugh, this will really lift you up. i watched the first two episodes in sub and dub back to back.. and i can vouch that the voice actors for the English dub are excellent. it’s actually even funnier.. but if you prefer subs, then that’s fine. it’s just the lines are more humorous, expressive and have more variety :) Nozaki’s voice is also attractive in the dub.. it’s still very Nozaki imo. this anime pokes fun at the shoujo manga yet still has romantic elements. it’s mostly comedy though
Shingeki no Kyojin / Attack on Titan - it’s the Game of Thrones of anime imo.. like it’s so GOOD.. it will just make you gag after every episode!!! it’s so intense and there are really badass characters. and the plot is really brilliant. like if you think season 1 was like WHAT THE FUCkk.. wait til season 2! this anime is crazy and exciting. not for the faint-hearted tbh cause it can be graphic and disturbing (also dont get attached. they could die!) but yeah, this anime is popular true and some say it’s overrated but that’s because it really deserves all the recognition and success it has for its amazing plot
Anime watched/finished:
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (Battle Tendency) - SONO CHI NO SADAMEEE JOOOOOOJOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the type of anime that’ll get you wanting to go to the gym and lift. that being said, it has a really amazing story
Kimi no Na Wa - universally lauded and recently released! it’s the best film released in 2016 imo. i swear it’s really next level storytelling
Rurouni Kenshin - i think i watched this anime twice/thrice.. It’s so suspenseful. it’s about samurais. and this anime made me interested about Japan’s history. it’s kind of a period drama with amazing fight sequences. and it’s critically acclaimed. it’s my father’s all-time favourite anime
Rurouni Kenshin OVA - it’s a prequel. also more violent and tragic than its anime counterpart.. like it’s really different from the series. but it’s so good. you’ll find out how Kenshin got his iconic X mark from here!)
Ghost Stories - THE DUB IS A MASTERPIECE! THE SUBBED IS SHIT. TRUST ME. the DUB is the popular one too cause it’s the superiour version. You really have to see this one. the anime bombed in Japan so the english dubbers got all the rights for the anime and they gave the go signal for the dubbers to do whatever the fuck they want and the end result is fucking hilarious. it shits on the Scary Movie Franchise tbh
Puella Magi Madoka Magica - i swear do not be deceived.. it is a really intense and surprisingly dark anime with excellent plot twists
Jigoku Shoujo / Hell Girl - angst, tragedy, philosophical anime analysing humanity’s hatred, need for vengeance, and suffering. Futakomori or the 2nd season is my favourite but it’s worth finishing the entire series. 3rd season is very painful to watch though and you dont have to watch that one tbh if you dont want to lol
Love Live! School Idol Project - i honestly just watched this like out of curiosity and just for kicks. i was not expecting to love it but after episode 3, i was like wait??? wasnt this anime supposed to be fun?? why am i crying?? so yeah, it’s super good, touching, entertaining and sweet! and the songs are really catchy and good.. TBH this anime is like so gay since there are no men (except Honoka’s dad) so yeah it passes the Bechdel Test with perfect score
Love Live! Movie - the conclusion to the anime!
Love Live! Sunshine - i watched this like a few months after finishing the original series cause i loved the original girls and i was worried i wont like these girls.. but honestly, you will appreciate them. and it has more gay subtext. btw tell me who your fave girls/best girls are after watching Love Live and Sunshine. my best girls are Umi Sonoda and Kanan Matsuura :>
Yu Yu Hakusho - occult, spirit world, ghosts, and fighting. you most probably have heard of this
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - 1st series starring Yugi is iconic. it might seem juvenile though so i’m not sure if you will like it but the anime is really good if you love the card games
Digimon - can be very intense! better than Pokemon imo
Cardcaptor Sakura - this is also suspenseful. like the premise is essentially that Sakura has to catch all the “monsters” that were freed from this book. and it’s up to her to “capture” them and put into cards. magic, fantasy, and beautiful animation
Ranma ½ - this was so funny but the ending was disappointing cause it got cancelled apparently.. i really hope this will go out of limbo and give us a proper ending like InuYasha did but i doubt it
Danganronpa (murder plot twists, intense and despair-filled storyline. click this to know more about the premise. it’s like Battle Royale meets CSI meets How To Get Away With Murder. btw i highly suggest you play this game (it’s available on Steam) instead of watching the poorly condensed anime. so buy it on steam or you can download it how you like cause it’s one of the best games ever. and if you plan on watching this, there is no Danganronpa 2 anime so yeah just play the first game tbh. here’s a trailer of the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwJeZPMhdUk. if ya dont wanna play the games then you can watch the anime. and after watching this, here’s a link of the playthrough of the 2nd game. it’s super fun, full of plot twists, and interactive)
Yuri On Ice - it’s a really cute gay anime. people will argue it isnt and its queerbait but i’m gay and alot of the things which happen are too much for just bros to do so yeah, i believe it’s canon gay or mlm. and i enjoyed it so you watch it and be the judge
Blood+ - vampires and sword fighting
Ghost In The Shell - it’s a sci-fi movie
Yakitate Japan - baking and cooking!
Getbackers - still up to debate if the duo are gay but if you google art of them, there have been official art released and it’s so gay lol. but yeah it’s shonen genre and it’s not canon gay
Cowboy Bebop - a CLASSIC. the dub is great!!
I don’t remember if i finished these but I watched a lot of episodes enough to recommend it and will rewatch them soon to relieve memories. I’m pretty sure I tuned in though and watched like 80%:
Fushigi Yuugi (i think this is shoujo but it has a nice adventure storyline)
Gundam series (i think i finished the first Gundam and the second)
Tsubasa Chronicles (it’s like a spin-off of Cardcaptor Sakura but they’re like all grown up and the plot is different)
Naruto
One Piece (i watched like the first four seasons)
Bleach (i remembered watching until episode 40 omg)
Great Teacher Onizuka (this is so funny tbh. i think i watched almost all of it)
Studio Ghibli films I watched:
Spirited Away
The Wind Rises
Ponyo
Tales from Earthsea
Anime I plan to watch (many suggested this to me and i plan on watching them so i’ll write them down here) :
Koe no Katachi (A Silent Voice)
Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day
Re: Zero
Your Lie in April
Shin sekai Yori
Gintama
More of Makoto Shinkai’s movies like 5 centimetres per second, etc.)
More Ghibli films too
Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive (after i finish FFXV game im watching this one)
Persona 4
Here you go!!!! I know it’s an extensive list. I’ll probably make this a masterpost of anime recs and will update this list, and add more soon. If you have any questions or anything, don’t be shy to message me! :)

While Nintendo IS overzealous against the Rom Sites, lets not pretend that the Rom Sites are 100% guilt free heroes: some of them DID host Roms of the stuff Nintendo still actively distribute like 3DS games. There is a massive difference between hosting games that are rare/unlikely to resold/too pricey to buy and hosting games that are common/easy to buy. The problem is that Nintendo is attacking BOTH with the same zeal. Plus Nintendo needs to understand that not all people just want free games.
I dunno why you’re messaging this to me instead of the OP of that post, tho? Especially since I literally never said any of that? Like umm I completely agree with the fact that pirating games you could easily buy is bullshit, I never said it wasnt. Nobody arguing for emuparadise said this, as far as I know. It’s 100% “that was goddamn overzealous, you’re attacking both with the same zeal”.
Tho I have downloaded roms of modern games before, but only when its a game I already own and I just wanted a form of it that I could record for lets plays, cos capture cards are super expensive and there’s no shops as far as I know that do it for a european 3DS. Also sometimes have downloaded roms cos i wanna make rom hacks or just open them up and look at how they work to learn new things about my favourite series! Like there’s stuff like Boundary Break and The Cutting Room Floor who find unused content and interesting details that would otherwise have gone unseen. And TCRF paid loads to snag a rare pokemon beta rom cartridge off ebay and had hundreds of people working non stop to unpack it IMMEDIATELY and even translate all the japanese! This was content that would have never been seen by ANYONE if not for emulation communities!
Also like.. sometimes people do bootleg games without necessarily having evil motives. Like sometimes when i was really poor I made stupid decisions and downloaded bootleg roms of games that i couldnt afford. When I grew up and understood more about how wrong it was, I stopped! My dad was a really nasty bastard and he always used to rent games from blockbuster and then rip the roms or burn the discs to use on a chipped playstation, then just return them immediately and get a full game for £3. That was how we got ALL our games as kids, I was raised in that sort of stupid environment and those are definately the kind of rom-users that I don’t support.
But like still.. sometimes.. downloading like one rom when you’re legit broke is maybe not so evil. Whenever I did that during my one year in and out of homelessness, i always used to treat it like an “unofficial demo” and like.. impose limits on myself so i wouldnt allow myself to play the whole game and steal the whole experience. It was just ‘i cant afford it right now, i will try the first level and see if i want to buy it. And then I will buy it.’My rule is “if you ever pirated a thing, you have to buy it when you get the chance”. I spent the next few years just buying physical copies of all of those games/films, even the ones I didnt like! I used rom versions of RPGmaker for years and then as soon as i had a better financial situation I bought the newest most expensive version and three more copies for all of my friends! And like in the case of games that are out of print now but werent out of print when I pirated them, I’ll buy a bunch of other stuff that the company made in order to support them.
SO YEAH, Bunni’s Personal Rules of Roms!
* If you already own a legit copy of the game, you are allowed to download a rom of it. You already paid for it, after all.* If the game is impossible to buy anymore and roms are the only way to play it, there is nothing wrong with that rom.* Fan translations are in the same category, If it can’t be bought in your country then you really have no other choice if you want to play it. And from experience, whenever these games finally get dubbed years later they get a huge amount of sales from everyone who played the fan translation! Like i still cannot believe they finally released Princess Maker in english like 15 years after the original DOS version?? The official translation was really grammatically bad but i was still so happy to be able to support the official company!* Rom hacking is fun and cool and do lots of it, yes. Its a fan work and it comes from people’s love of the game! But still please only do it if you own a legit copy of the original game!* If you’re too broke to get a game and you’re being tempted to use a rom, treat it like a “demo”. You can play it now but you have to buy it when you do have the money! If you really love this game you’ll want to support the creator, yo! No matter how long it takes! It took me like five years to be able to finally buy rpgmaker and god damn it was satisfying to finally get that off my conscience, lol* Tho if the game’s creator is some sort of absolute fucknozzle that you dont want to support with your money, then its potentially arguable that it’s okay to use a rom. But trying to get a preowned copy or watching a lets play is still better! Also like don’t do this unless its a REALLY justifiable cause. Like not just “i dont like this guy” but “there is actual proof he has made holocaust denying tweets/used his fame to advocate for gay conversion therapy/taken nude photos of his coworkers/embezzled money to make the game/etc”.* Roms of demos or preview discs or other content that was already free = literally no reason why nintendo should take that down. It’s just an archive of important moments in the game’s history!* Roms of illegal bootlegs also make no sense to be taken down in this blanket ban. Like yo the console creators literally do not own those or make any money off of them, and its GOOD that people arent giving money to the bootleggers! (And, again, its the kind of videogame history that would be easily lost without rom dumps.)
Also lol srsly why cant nintendo just say ‘take down all the roms of games that are currently available for purchase, you can keep all the archived old ones’. Like that would solve the problem without pissing off the fanbase! or seriously yo just add more of those unavailable games to the virtual console...

Survey 17
At your part of the world, is it summer now? Yes it is
What’s the warmest it can get over there? How about the coldest? It can get pretty hot, like over 100 degrees.  Coldest is about mid-40s in the Winter.
Is there a bad habit you’re trying to break right now? Yes, I’m trying to not waste time on social media.  I want to dedicate my time to actual hobbies.
Is it easy to find a job in your preferred field in your home town?           Its actually pretty easy to find my preferred field in most places (financial field is everywhere) but I don’t particularly like it.
When is the last time you went to a fun fair? We went to a fair in January this year, it was a lot of fun.
How about an amusement park? Its been a very long time, I honestly don’t even know when that was
Did you/will you take part in your city’s Pride parade this year? No
If not, why not? Its not for me. It doesn’t bother me if other people do though!
Would you ever consider proposing? If not, why not? I don’t believe that it should be the woman’s job to propose - again, its not my place to say what other people do.  An old friend of mine proposed to her husband but I would never do it.
How would you feel, if you were proposed to? I was elated and excited and just so in love :) We got engaged 2 years ago and married 5 months ago
Have you ever played the original Mass Effect trilogy? Only the first game.  I’d love to replay it though!
If so, which Shepard and who do you like romancing the best? Can’t comment :/ I never made it too far into the game.
Let’s say there’s a person in need. They need money which they can’t make. Would you be more likely to help them out, if a celebrity asked you to? It really depends on the situation.  I’m really hesitant to give people money unless they’re legitimate (then I will)
When you go to a restaurant, do you have a go-to dish? Most of the time, yes
Would you rather live next to a kindergarten or an old folks’ home? I honestly wouldn’t mind either.
What was the last game that you played? My husband and I were played Stardew Valley last night! I’m supposed to get my copy of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town today and I can’t wait to play it!  I loved the original one (on Gameboy Advance)
Where was the postcard from that travelled the longest way to you? I never really bought postcards but the furthest I’ve traveled is either Ireland, Germany or Czech Republic
Have you ever made jewelry? I think I did when I was younger but dont have an interest in that now
Have you ever upcycled anything? If so, what? I’m sure I have, but not sure what it was.  I have a ton of mason jars (just ones I’ve kept from Peanut Butter or Jellys so I wanna do something with those).
Which app do you use the most on your phone? Ha, probably Tumblr >< I’m debating on deleting it though because I hate being so attached to my phone.  I tell myself that if I want to scroll through social media, I can do it on my computer instead (then I’d have to sign in and all that stuff)
Did you learn to play an instrument as a kid? If so, which one? I did, I played Alto Saxophone 5th - 12th grade
What is the best part of your most ordinary day? Getting up and having coffee.  I always want to get up, have coffee and dedicate my mornings to something creative - like writing or learning a language.  I’ve been on and off with both German and Japanese for years but can never decide which one I want to fully dedicate myself to lol. I also have wanted to write a Harvest Moon fanfiction story so I want to explore that, too)
If you learned that you suddenly needed an aid of some sort to do something that you normally don’t need (glasses, hearing aid, etc.) Would you comply or would you put it off until there was no choice anymore? Ah, well if its something urgent like that, I’d probably do it right away. Otherwise, I’m kind of lazy before I get to something.
Do you enjoy being on your own? Yes I do, too much in fact.  I always tell myself I want friends but when it comes down to it and I actually have someone to talk to, I always chicken out (and use an excuse like I have nothing in common with the other person).  Regardless if we have anything in common, I need to start talking to people and just reach out.
Or are you happier when there’s a crowd around you? It depends.  Not too many people
Have you ever been to a zoo? If so, which one(s)? I”ve been to a ton of zoos.  The ones in my hometown (in the midwest), Seattle’s zoo and the zoo in the city I hope to move back to one day (on the other side of my state).  We were going to go to Germany in Sept (but obviously, thats cancelled now) but we had plans to go to the Berlin Zoo.
How about petting zoos? I’ve been to quite a few of those, too.
Have you thrown you “winter coat” off yet? I haven’t used a winter coat since I visited my hometown in Feb.
Do you ever look up what foreign idioms mean? OH all the time.  I love learning bits and pieces of different languages
What’s the strangest saying you’ve come across? I’m sure theres a few but I can’t think of any right now.
What’s a First World problem that you have? Having access to fresh water that we definitely take for granted (there have been a few times that our water was shut off due to maintenance and wow, I can’t imagine NOT having fresh water right out of the faucet immediately when I want it.  OR plumbing.
Do you use food products that are advertised as more healthy? Probably.  We try to read the labels on all food products but theres no guarantee that those are truthful, either.  We also try to shop on the outside of the aisles (as thats more meat, produce instead of packaged items)
Does it matter to you if the produce you use is organic? Yes, because I don’t want food that is tampered with.  I just want the natural version, even if its smaller.  I don’t want chemically enhanced, color enhanced, etc, anything.  One thing that really pisses me off is seedless fruits - WHY are they seedles?? If these farms/companies are tampering with the fruit to make them seedless, that means I’m dependent on THEM to produce it.  They take away my ability to use those seeds to grow my own - if that makes sense (obviously I’m sure I could buy seeds separately but the fruits are supposed to produce the seeds naturally and they’re removing that important ability).  I just don’t trust it.
If so, why? I explained above..kind of went on a rant there lol
What has been the worst sort of physical pain that you have felt? Probably cramps.  As I get older, they’re getting worse :/
Are your pains generally more acute or chronic? Acute I suppose
Do you collect anything? Video games, anime merch..I’m all about that stuff lol
If you could be doing absolutely anything right now, what would it be? Not having to go to work :/ I gotta get ready to go soon
Do you read any web comics? Not really, I read a lot of fanfiction though. It makes me want to write my own.
Which social media platform do you use the most, if any? Ugh, Tumblr.  Or Twitter but Twitter is pissing me off lately.  Too many idiots on it and its too political.
Have you ever made a parody version of a popular song? Nothing I’ve uploaded, just singing along and changing the words.  My husband and I both do it
Which game did you play the most as a kid during recess? Probably tag?

How to Use Quora and Reddit to Fuel Your Content Marketing Needs
Sites with user-generated content like Quora and Reddit can be gold mines for referring traffic to your website, boosting brand authority, and reaching niche audiences for your business.
But you better respect what is and is not allowed on these powerful channels for distributing your content and increasing engagement.
Neither Quora nor Reddit suffers fools and spammers lightly – these online communities have their own written and unwritten rules of etiquette and marketers attempting to game the system are quickly flagged and ostracized. Being cut off from the flow of two of the most powerful sources of online traffic can be a huge liability.
#Quora & #Reddit don’t suffer fools & spammers lightly. Follow the unwritten rules, advises @sheadrakephoto. Click To Tweet
Reddit, nicknamed “the front page of the internet,” attracts almost 60 million unique monthly visitors from the United States alone to its eclectic mix of news, weird links, and highly trafficked hubs of geekdom.
Launched in 2010, Quora has excelled in Google rankings for a wide variety of topics because the site does a fantastic job of satisfying user intent through answering questions. Building authority allowed Quora to hit 300 million monthly users in 2018 and made it a one-stop shop for advice and recommendations. Quora can be an invaluable resource not just for marketers who want to increase traffic but also for companies trying to connect to their customers and get honest feedback.
If you’re looking for the next step to boost your business or brand online, Reddit and Quora should be on your radar. Here’s what you need to know about these popular platforms to tap into their traffic potential.

Understand the platform
Before you delve into Quora or Reddit, assess your content marketing goals to identify which platform might better satisfy those needs. While Reddit may be a great way for potential customers to stumble across links to your product or services, Quora provides more opportunity for building brand authority within your industry. As Nicolas Straut, an SEO specialist from Fundera notes, “Reddit and Quora are both excellent channels to distribute content and increase engagement with new audiences in your niche. The only catch to both is that excessively self-promotional content can be penalized.”
Before you delve into Quora or Reddit, assess your #contentmarketing goals, says @sheadrakephoto. Click To Tweet
The Reddit community values content through upvotes and downvotes, and popular submissions make it to the front page accordingly. Because of Reddit’s enormous sprawl and frequently updated content, however, it can be difficult to attract attention. The platform is divided into topics called “subreddits,” and your success depends on finding the right one for your content marketing needs:
youtube
While Quora can be a little less confusing to navigate, it’s trickier to plug your content. Using Quora successfully may drive less volume than other channels, but the traffic tends to be higher quality with lower bounce rates. Daniel Ndukwu, CEO of KyLeads, confirms that: “I’ve been a Quora user for years, and to date I’ve gotten over 5 million views on the platform. In addition to that, we’ve used it to drive thousands of visitors to our website and get our first hundred users.”

Once you’ve established a profile and gotten a feel for how to use these platforms, it’s worth lurking for a while and posting on a variety of topics to establish your credibility. It’ll take some time to cultivate your reputation as an authentic user before you can begin to tap into an audience for your content.
HANDPICKED RELATED CONTENT: Reddit for Marketing? Hell No, Except in This One Case
Find the right audience
More important than the demographics baked into Quora and Reddit is how each of these platforms can be used to find niche audiences. If you don’t customize your Reddit experience, you see only the popular posts on the front page. It can be some weird and wonderful stuff (like cats persistently trying to enter a Japanese art museum), but it’s unlikely to be the kind of content your business is looking to promote.
To find an audience interested in what you have to offer, get actively involved in the smaller subreddit communities. There’s a balance to achieve between larger subreddits, which have more activity, versus smaller, which focus on more targeted, often less popular topics that attract a higher concentration of users who would be interested in your content.
For example, if I’m a chainsaw performance artist (yes, that’s a thing), I might get mild interest from the larger subreddit community of forestry nerds, which has about 7,000 subscribers. The subreddit for chainsaw enthusiasts, which has about 1,000 subscribers, might be a better bet to generate more “buzz” for my chainsaw art.
Likewise, for subjects like content marketing, you can check out r/content_marketing. Below is an example of someone asking a question and the types of responses received. The best – and worst – thing about Reddit is the conversational format that results from questions and comments.
Notice in the right corner that the question received 88% upvotes, which shows how many more are interested in answers than just the original poster.
In this case, someone answered, and a conversation resulted.
On Quora, tackle questions directly related to your industry. Start your search with related keywords and look for recent submissions with plenty of followers. Quora loves personal stories or bulleted lists, and while you can draft a few template answers for commonly asked questions, make sure you freshen up that content often.
Marie Lamonde, a content marketer for DashThis, explains: “What you need to keep in mind while using Quora for marketing purposes is that you are there to answer people’s questions and position yourself as an expert in your field. This is not a billboard to showcase your company. Stay honest and relevant, and you should see great results.”
Quora is not a billboard to showcase your company. Stay honest and relevant, advises @LamondeMarie.‏ Click To Tweet
To see what Marie is talking about, look at this question and a couple of the answers below. One answer clearly helps the original poster learn more about SEO. The other is just selling services.
Whether or not you agree with the following answer, this person gives relevant advice and shares a possibly helpful blog post to the person asking the question.
Here are two types of answers they received.
On the other hand, this answer is really a bad ad. It doesn’t answer the original question and tells the original poster about its more affordable SEO packages. No proof, not conversation, just a copy/paste answer – that’s an ad.
Follow the rules
Like any community, Reddit and Quora have rules to guide the conduct of their users. Sometimes referred to as “reddiquette,” the Reddit code of conduct takes spammy links seriously and not only suspends accounts but bans entire domains. To avoid running afoul of these rules, carefully review Reddit’s FAQs and remember to disclose any relationship you have to the content you’re promoting.
Reddit users are notorious for sniffing out marketing strategies, so following these guidelines will help ensure that your account doesn’t get flagged for suspicious content:
Never submit the same comment to multiple subreddits.
Don’t ask for upvotes or promise reciprocity.
Do share links to content that is not your own.
Amass karma points first before you promote your own links.
A 10% ratio of posting links to your company’s content is a safe rule of thumb, especially while you’re establishing a reputation within the community. As Kyle Kroeger, founder of Millionaire Mob warns, “I actually got banned from Reddit for posting – I hired an individual to help with my marketing, and they promised to get me huge exposure on Reddit. I later found out that they overly posted on Reddit and also created a company-based Reddit username, which ended up getting my entire domain banned.”
Quora has a similar approach to keeping its community spam-free, and many of the same rules apply. The site notifies you if your content is suspicious. Repeated notifications will get you banned from the platform in short order. To avoid this, think of Quora not as a place to continually link to your content but as an opportunity to build your authority within an industry. Use your content and experience to answer questions honestly, and you can avoid being labeled as a spammer.
Think of @Quora as an opportunity to build your authority within an industry, says @sheadrakephoto. Click To Tweet
Market yourself as an industry leader
Reddit and Quora are powerful platforms for marketers, but they are first and foremost communities. Success on both sites depends on your ability to answer questions and supply the content users want. In many ways, it’s the same approach you use to improve Google rankings – it’s less about showing off your product and services and more about showing that you can satisfy user intent.
Scroll through these sites and spend some time browsing keywords on Quora or diving deep into industry-specific subreddits. Find out what users are asking and what kinds of content they look for. Reddit thrives on snarky commentary and quirky links. Quora loves advice with a sincere tone and organized actionable lists. Find questions you can really dig into and create well-formatted, thoughtful responses whose quality the community will recognize and appreciate.
Garit Boothe from Business.org points out, “Quora is a content marketer’s dream. It has B2B niches like LinkedIn. It has B2C niches like Facebook. And it’s long-form content presence works just like blogging. If your target audience is on Quora, you can get millions of views on your answers by writing engaging content and linking back to your site at the end of it.”
And if you’re wondering where to start, it’s as simple as searching for “How do I …?” as seen below:
Once you’re established as an industry expert, users will come to count on your content for knowledgeable answers. By following these strategies, you’ll discover you’ve not only made yourself a valued member of the Reddit and Quora communities but also built loyalty for your brand and possibly a bump in traffic for your site along the way.
