I'm gonna start in order of the books so that means Maddex is first

(its gonna be long)

aside from his normal silliness and overall crazy guy persona, Maddie is a selfish guy who does things for the sake of his own entertainment

He refused to help Adeuce go against Riddle when he himself has as much involvement with Riddle as Trey because he's also one of Riddle's childhood friends

but he doesn't help not because he's trying to excuse riddle for his actions, but because Riddle's actions don't involve him

Maddex turns a blind eye to Riddle's tyranny BECAUSE it doesn't affect him directly, he knows all the heartslabyul rules, he bends them but never breaks, so he considers himself an exception

He never gets involved in situations where he's not a part of , because why would he do that when it would risk him getting his head chopped off,

It's not his problem so he's not inclined to help even when it's literally the whole dorm's issue + his own childhood friend going mad

he only actually helped when Che'nya and Trey pointed out that it actually IS his problem , and he actually has to get involved

now Viridis has a LOT of issues and flaws and is over all not the greatest guy

he'd hate to be compared to Azul but he's just like him, he's Snide, Conniving, and overall Insecure

he pretends to be your friend just so you could do his dirty work for him, he tries to gain your trust but when he finally gets what he wants he would drop you the second you're no longer needed

he schemed against Azul and aided Leona into getting his brother's contract just for the sake of getting to see the helpless look on Azul's face

and in the process tried to overtake Mostro Lounge for his own personal gain

he failed but it still doesn't change the fact that he tried to do so

Theres not much to say on Leo because honestly there's nothing to hide

He's pretty Rude, Brash and overall Violent

He sticks around Viri cuz at first he thought being friends with the rich boy up top would do him some good

and later on when Viri got his UM he found that'd be extremely useful for him too

he's not one to shy away from saying something incredibly insensitive doesn't even think twice to say it

The Manta Twins are equally terrible honestly

they're both actually planning Viri's downfall while being his butlers

they laugh at the misery of others and are sometimes the reason for it

They don't actually even respect Viri despite him being their "young master"

Reese doesn't talk much so he's more of a man of action, so that means he's the one that's usually doing the dirty work and he absolutely loves making people miserable

Alfred is always buttering up Viri in order to gain his trust which means he gets access to his UM and get whatever he desires if he just asks his young master

and Viri himself knows this and is fully aware of what the Twins goals are but keeps them anyway just so he can get some use out of them

while Krohn literally has no issues and is overall sunny and nice

Ezmond is the opposite

He's demanding, he's temperamental, he's constantly plotting the downfall of anyone who opposes himhe always asks so much of Krohn and yells when he doesn't get what he wants

he makes those around him try to fit into his high standards and think they're beneath him when they dont meet the cut

his attitude is that of a brat, constantly whining and complaining about things because he didn't get a specific thing he wanted

The lad is literally Two Faced, like thats his whole thing

he's constantly changing faces to fit what others need and rarely ever shows how he really acts around others

he loves his brother he really does but deep down inside he's jealous that he never got into RSA, so much so that he just gave up something he was passionate about cuz he hated losing to argos

despite being literally the heir to his father's company, he still hated that he lost to his brother and didn't even come home for winter break for two years cuz he was just that petty

Pan hates being in second place because he thinks it doesn't seem fit for the first son of the Nikos family

Which is ironic because he's ignihyde's VICE housewarden

there's not much to say because he displays his terrible and mean self fully without ever hiding anything

he doesn't really care about people's feelings or opinions

he's constantly yelling and angry for seemingly no reason and is overall just rude

and he doesn't even have any issues at home 😭 he's got a loving family so he's really just an asshole for no reason at all

the only people he respects are Pan and Idia (tho the respect for idia is debatable cuz he sometimes roasts him but then again they are friends)

while he's probably the most well put together compared to the rest of them, cuz he has a thing called manners

he sometimes secretly sabotages Sebek and Silver in their duties to serve Malleus because as Malleus' retainer he wants to be the one Malleus relies on

and also because he has a bit of disdain towards humans, and while sebek is half fae, he's also half human

so he's kind of a bit passive aggressive and more cold towards the two, he listens to Lilia and Malleus tho

he's petty and competitive and was there to also fan the flames with Lilia during Leona's overblot in the savanaclaw dorm

Thinking about the KaeyaJeanDiluc friendship where they grew up together and they were CLOSE & sure maybe Jean felt like Diluc & Kaeya were closer since they were brothers & sure maybe Kaeya felt like he had to keep secrets from the two of them bc they would never understand but they were like. A trio! A team!

& then Diluc’s 18th birthday comes around and everything goes to shit and Diluc LEAVES so they’re no longer KaeyaJeanDiluc but just Kaeya & Jean & in some ways Kaeya and Jean get closer because of it but there’s also a pronounced DISTANCE where Jean doesn’t know how to reach Kaeya anymore & Kaeya is even more determined not to tell Jean anything & they both lose themselves in their duties to Mondstadt while also missing Diluc and ALSO, despite everything, offering each other unconditional support

& then Diluc comes BACK & in addition to Kaeya & Jean there’s the shaky reestablishment of Jean & Diluc and Diluc & Kaeya but it’s not THE SAME. they’re no longer KaeyaJeanDiluc; Jean & Kaeya are knights and Diluc will never be a knight again & they all changed while Diluc was away & none of them know how to talk to each other anymore AND YET there’s still an undercurrent of trust!! Not fully, especially between Kaeya & Diluc, but Diluc still calls on Jean during the archon quest, trusting that she will keep their secrets even though as the acting grandmaster she should probably not. Jean says in her about Diluc voiceline that she understands why Diluc hates the knights & is working hard to make them an organization he can trust again. Kaeya covers for Diluc’s darknight hero escapades & fondly reminisces about their childhood in front of him. Diluc invited Kaeya to dinner at the winery & (afaik) never told anyone about Kaeya’s origins. Kaeya tells the traveler that they need to give Jean their full support and planned a birthday party for her. Jean left Kaeya in charge of Mondstadt when she went to the golden apple archipelago! On some level they recognize that their goals still align!! There’s still trust and love there but there’s also this gap between them that none of them know how to cross and I just!!!

short summary about them; they act as both an antagonist and an ally since they are only really interested in what they want or whats fun to them, they are immortal and call themselves 'death itself' since they have a special connection to souls (being the only one able to communicate with them) and the ability to seperate souls from their bodies in such a way that nothing can harm the soul afterwards their main goal is to .. bother and disturb the 'celestials'*, which they hate, as much as they can, breaking into their palace, freeing prisoners, destroying research, destroying the place, and most importantly, making as many souls unusable to them as possible-

they dont want to destroy the celestials though, they cant fight them anyway and this game of doing 'good' only with the goal of annoying them is their most treasured activity, so Xaror doesnt intend to stop them from killing or hurting anyone, only from harvesting what they are actually after (though Xaror doesnt actually care as little as they think they do about people, and has a soft spot for demons)

most of their appearance is later into the story; Zaphira (the empress) had been in coma and the medical facility she was treated in was destroyed by Shargon (orange eyed demon who acts as her bodyguard for the first part) in an attempt to save her from her estranged relatives taking over her country after they heard of her decline in health, she is believed dead but washes up on the shore of the mountain Xaror resides at years later (it has a reason, too much to write here) and they slowly nurse her back to health, the reason they give for it is that they found their first encounter very fun, thats all (is it?)

(more lore under the cut bc this is already so long .. im trying to keep it short q-q ......... this is stuff i have been working on since i was a kid so uh, some things might be cheesy but i cant change them anymore ..)

just to get some basics out of the way; theres three worlds, the celestials palace, human world and demon world, each are their own planet connected via different gateways

*celestials (possibly not final name, loosely based on angels) are the last remaining "survivors" of their planets demise, when their world died the most powerful among them cannibalized the weaker to sustain themselves until there were only less than 10 left, who each turned into different beings from it and dont resemble their own people much anymore, they built a palace from what was left on their world that protects them from space as its atmosphere collapsed shortly after- however they still needed something to live off; they discover the human world and are delighted to find rather short lived people with powerful souls, the best kind of sustenance for them (now), they aim to herd them like cattle, but a problem arose when it turned out another world has long been in contact with the human world; demons

demons are semi immortal creatures that act as protectors for their world, protection they extended, more or less secretely, to the human world ensuring them a long and secure life- the celestials need them to die at their whim though (demons are few in numbers, hard to kill and rarely have offspring, not an ideal target); as they worked out a plan on how to get rid of demons one of the celestials, Xanthriel (time) grew somewhat fond of people as they spent alot of time in the human world to observe and research them; in the end turning on their own completely, but losing the fight against Uriel (knowledge)

Xanthriel was supposed to be executed for their betrayal, but it doesnt work, instead they are splintered into many parts after a lot of struggle, most body, memory and most strength is one part (ending up as motionless forever bleeding corpse kept locked up in the palace), the rest is some time later gathered together and reforms as a seperate, weak mockery of them, they embody Xanthriels emotion- Xaror, without memory, strangely cut to pieces (hence all the missing limbs and broken halo) but driven by an unstoppable desire to disturb the celestials (they live seperate long enough to each become their own person, at some point Xaror discovers Xanthriels body after all and they merge back together, though as they are now two, Xanthriel only takes over once directly after merging, stays silent for a long time and lets Xaror be themselves, only later revealing that they are there at all .. hiding perhaps- i rarely have specific ideas for voices, but Xanthriels is like, like coarse rocks being violently rubbed against each other, less voice more noise)

(also, the celestials use Xanthriels blood from the day of their execution to create a plague that nearly wipes out all demons, only the youngest of them survived, effectively robbing them of everything, culture, history, knowledge etc- as demons rarely have children, like a complete restart of their society, they disappeared from the human world, and over time being largely forgotten as actually existing- the celestials wanted them all gone however, so they kept kidnapping them to try and find somethign that would work similarly against the young ones too (and then in general, bc the only usable blood of Xanthriel was from the day of their fall, and that has long since been used up) one of the young ones was Shargon, he was the only one still alive from his group

okay its no secret i dont buy into marazhai being the persona he puts on. so as i've officially met him in game now, im making a list of all the in-game reasons i think he's a bit of an idiot [which i love btw. i find him far more compelling if he's a bit stupid/weird and he's trying so hard not to be but you just know nobody in commorragh is inviting him to parties]

the very first time you get a glance of him on a rooftop and. 'deal with this' "of course" proceeds to just walk off like 3 seconds after the other two

ambushes you. has you cornered. is in optimal position to kick your ass frankly, high ground and better weapons and utilising shock against you. ...he bitches at you for a while, gets insulted, then runs off into the forest with a maniacal cackle

heinrix fired a mild insult [considering what he's like to everyone else its barely an insult] and he took big enough issue with it to start saying how he'll break him and turn him into a pet. oh sure dude you're responding super well to this mild comment from the guy who accidentally insults everyone and their entire ancestral line at some point

i think it says something that he's learned to speak your language fluently too. that Has to be some kind of Yikes moment to admit publicly in drukhari culture. buried family secret great great grandfather drukhari-georg learned to speak mon keigh and now we claim he just spoke oddly because was shot in the head as a child to prevent the shame

he also knows the mon keigh lore that says youre a super special little guy as rogue trader and actually LISTENS to the fact you're the special little guy as rogue trader. and he does treat you as more equal/with more respect than the other characters. thats not just a drukhari culture yikes thats what gets you checked for a concussion or brain damage

literally socially atrocious enough its believed he's working with you [read: with you. not using you, not manipulating, cooperating. this is a big difference i feel] and only he himself doesnt believe it

ignore the fact he eventually DOES work with you which. is its own follow up statement

challenges you to fight him, to give chase then and there. i made him wait while i went through english government simulator where i queued for multiple days, did multiple day/week voidship trips back and forth, got distracted by accidentally starting jae's romance, pasqal telling me to servitorise her, getting blackout drunk with her, shipwide broadcast tm, giving her a voidship, her getting me a space cat, attacked by pirates, dealt with a plague, explored a few extra systems.......................

he destroys your palace. ...its rebuilt effectively within a week. most of the damage is in bodies which are just sent to the poor district to rot [almost feels worse than the damage done good job imperium]

the throne has claw marks. he could've blown it up or shot it or piled corpses on it but no he wanted to sit on the fancy chair and so turned into a common housecat mauling the sofa arm

how long was he just sitting there lounging on that chair? again see how long i kept him waiting. he was just sitting there trying to find a comfy position on this [for him] kinda small chair JUST so he could briefly taunt, break your window with his space motorbike, jump off the chair in a dramatic [but not gunna lie not that impressive] feat of gymnastics, then fly out. he doesnt even shoot at you as he leaves

I started shipping Dick Grayson and Percy Jackson as a joke and then got accidentally invested. Help.

The thing about them is that I think they would Know. They would each know that the other had been though more than any one person could be expected to bear. They would feel secrets like a weight between them. And they would just. Not ask. They would decide to be eachother's simple thing. A bright spot of good in a world that's too hard.

Dick comes across as a ray of sunshine but he keeps up with Percy's snark. Percy's bleeding heart for the downtrodden and disdain for any authority endears him to Dick. They just have complimentary energies.

What makes this funny is how everyone else reacts to them.

Dick's family is panicking, since Percy is The Most Suspicious Man on the Planet. He works six months out of the year at summer camps that don't exist. He was accused of terrorism as a twelve year old. They keep trying to bring this up with Dick, who is exaggerating oblivoiusness. "What, Percy, suspicious? Never. He's great with kids, I'm sure the campers love him, isn't that sweet?" Tim is pulling out his hair.

Meanwhile, Percy's telling Annabeth (who he is still dating, polyamory ftw) all about his new guy, and Annabeth is like, "Let me get this staight. You're dating a rich trust fund kid, who's also a police officer, named Dick? That's not a real guy. That's a parody of a person. Who are you and since when do you tolerate cops."

goddd . the thing about sonic and shadows dynamic is that in the 2000s era games they werent exactly besties but they didnt seem to dislike eachother either. maybe they didnt always agree on everything but there was still a mutual respect there and they had no problem working together when it was necessary. there were even instances where sonic WANTED to team up with shadow and seemed to at the very least consider him a trusted ally if not a friend. but then over time sega decided to make their relationship more. idk. hostile i guess is the word? i guess its because they wanted to push the rivalry more or something. and i wouldnt say their relationship in sonic prime is exactly like it was in the older games but its definitely a breath of fresh air after some of the stuff we've gotten before this

nothing hurts more than seeing ur fave character depicted in an official au story or elseworld where details ab them r different but it explores the character in a new way -- its good in a vacuum, but u know it isn't the Definitive Version of that character. Just a new exploration (cool!). but because the adaptation brought in so many new fans and/or was a huge success it ends up being treated like its the Definitive Version and all discussions of prev versions are overshadowed bc of it... even worse when studios / execs see the success and try to pivot to this New Version only and never try to explore new routes for the character ever again (can you tell this is about comics yet)
