this can be because you liked all the starters a lot, or wasnt into any of them for a gen, or whatever other reason.

if you get multiple games in a gen/replay games and choose different starters for each game/playthrough, then you can take into consideration if you had any difficulty deciding who youd have as a starter on your first playthrough.

gen i - charmander. i like the early game difficulty that comes w the fire typing

gen ii - cyndaquil. the actual best pokemon ever created. baby. little baby. favorite. kiss.

gen iii - treecko. especially in the remakes with the introduction of the mega evolution giving this baby the dragon typing. huff huff. leaf blade was a broken ass move.

gen iv - i went chimchar specifically bc of power up punch. broken ass move. also his speed was absolute coconuts. bit of a glass cannon in the elite 4 tho

gen v - i didn't love any of these at the time, but i went with oshawatt because i really hate pigs and snivy has terrible stats. (early childhood trauma. dont worry about it.) razor shell is a pretty good move though.

gen vi - fennekin. ohhh my god this little bitch is so busted. greninja is also very good but the psychic/fire type combo with that insane special stat is just. chef kiss. i do always restart to get modest though, just to edge out that little bit more. every time i do a nuzlock she always carries me.

gen vii - i went with popplio, largely because the fairy type is so strong typically. i was kind of disappointed with how little utility it got overall, though. i think late game litten would have ultimately been a better choice. i just. really hate incineroar's design lmao

gen viii - scorbunny. pyroball is soooo broken jesus

gen ix - i went with sprigatito because the design was sooooo cute and i was fascinated by the grass/dark typing. so even though fuecoco is inarguably the stronger pokemon bc of torch song (again. busted ass move) i like weed cat

This list used to be a lot edgier (Gengar, Yamask, Drifloon, etc) but then I got PokemonGo and mellowed out a bit in general

5. Excadril: my top workhorse in Pokemon Go... but time made me fonder of its whole evo line even when I first thought it was mid. I know better now, I admire their name pun and the steady dependability in performance that they and their Ground type brings to the team.

4. Gliscor: fav from the beginning, its pixel art form was so cute and unique in silhouette to me. Also I love that it bounces around on its tail to move AND has wings, it's so all-terrain on top of its rare purple-gray-pink color and blatant scorpion inspo. I think as a kid I took pride in liking them as if it gave me hipster points?

3. Swampert: eventually the I herd you liek mudkipz jokes stopped being ironic, and I really like Swampert's fuck-off energy. Plus I have fond memories of the safari areas and the cute safari ball. I would've used the safari balls outside of the area if the game let me... we dont talk about Marshtomp, awkward puberties are normal

2. Infernape: fav from the beginning, I chose Chimchar as a starter and took every victory with the rival NPC intensely personally, especially when my other Pokemon friends kept saying Water type Empolyeon was the best and most meta choice. I think I screamed when I got a lucky Monferno with 3* stats in Pokemon Go. I named it Sparks and immediately went broke powering it up

1. Weavile: I love this bratty menace of a pokemon and I have a 3* one named Bolero that I poured all my resources into in PoGo. To be honest I know if pokemon were real it would wreck my shit so fast it would end up on the 6 o clock news, but Weavile is such a vanity pokemon to have that this fact only makes them more of a prize 'mon. These things are canonically mean, nasty, and cut everything in sight up. If I would buy Taco Bell for my Excadril, I would have to buy raw steaks for Weavile.

For my Linoone icon, I was originally wanting an Obstagoon one but found mostly pokefurry art when I looked for pics. Zigzagoon was too cutesy for my taste, and Linoone was a good balance of something that looked like an animal that wasn't... disrespected... in depictions. For now it remains off the top 5 list because I don't have one with good stats yet in PoGo.

Getting my dad into pokemon go has reawakened something in me that wants to shiny hunt

So i pulled out let’s go eevee for the first time this year, remembering that i had a shiny charm (thank you to the mutual that helped me finish my dex <3) and i started a chain on ponyta bc i want that blue flaming pony. I sat there for an hour. Ran out of decent balls and was left only with premier. Sat there watching spawns for another two, flipping tf out when a blue circled tiny ponyta came out from behind a bush, and then realizing that i should get the chain further than 35 even tho the bonus starts at 31+. And then i found that i was Broke. $500 to my name. I could buy maybe 5 pokeballs. So i started to fight the elite 4 for money. And then my switch was like ‘hey, i’m gonna die now’. So no shiny. No chain. I’m dying inside. Why is shiny hunting agony? Why do i do this? ...The exhilaration of finding one. I miss that rush lmao

I want this collection to grow. I can’t even list all the ones i have now anymore. I’ve even been working on a full team of shinies for the elite 4 cash grind in let’s go. So far that’s a Rhydon, Haunter, Fearow (I was chaining nidorans >:c), Butterfree, and Porygon. Which is why i want some others, it’s not balanced at all. The Rhydon and Haunter are the only ones staying for this, and maybe the butterfree, bc those two just beat the gastly and rhyhorn master, allowing me to evolve them and continue on for other master titles. Now for the next and now they’re beefy as heck and evolved as far as i can go without trades. Also it hurt a little to evolve the rhyhorn bc before i got that one, it reminded me of one of the first shinies i ever found back in firered and I Loved Him. At least he’s still rideable in the overworld.

I’m back on my hyperfixation bullshit. At least it’s holding me off til the new games come out.

Day 30 - Pokesona!

I wanted to save the best for last! Time to pick your pokemon! You can go with your favorite pokemon, or a pokemon you feel like represents you, maybe one that matches your fursona’s species, or you can take a PMD personality quiz to find out which of the PMD playable pokemon you can be! That’s what I did for this one, I took this quiz and I got chimchar, possibly my least favorite of the starters but I changed it up a bit and I kinda like how I drew it~ I have so many pokesonas, so I wanted to go with this most recent one just for fun!

If you dont want to be a pokemon, you can do a Trainersona, where you draw yourself as a human and your team of six pokemon that you would use! You can even go a step further and be a gym leader, where your team is themed around a certain type!

once again my dreams r insane

so like, i was in this world. it was literally black velvetopia from psychonauts. black, colorful, bright, a lot of buildings, it literally was. and people we sorta just lived there a bit? idk i remember looking for one of the bathrooms and it was sort of down in a abandoned area. (unknown event) then i come back and am going through the city again. i come across this tunnel that leads to the rest of the world

inside its like, a store? theres a bunch of toys and stuff on display. *sighs deeply* there was a pinkie pie figure in a box with a shocked expression and the title on the box sort of like a word bubble was “communism” im not joking. so anyways i go into the bathroom there and its fuckin weird.

like idk i dont think there were stalls but i guess that was “normal” and there was sort of a line and this lady was with her baby i ..think????? i dont know some form of events lead to this white boy fixing up osmething in the bathroom too and singing his own song specifically he said the n word and i was like “what the fuck did you just say” and he did that horrible little smug smile and then i cant remember if i attacked him or walked out but either way i went back to black velvetopia

(people in the store world seemed to not like black velvetopia because it hurt their eyes)

so i find NAOTHER bathroom but this one is different than this abandoned one before. inside its horrible, it sort of looks like a carpeted basement though. theres several rats running around and even a cat or two chasing them. (i collect a rat figment and am like really now -_-)

sometime during this, a huuge slime guy takes over the city and is its ruler. i dont really remember what was happening but it was sort of like a boss fight but this huge huge slime guy had a ton of hp and someone else was fighitng him(..c..coach oleander? kochamara?) uhh then it was sorta done with that dream. pokemon related now. something talking about the next games? i was like “sinnoh is kind of hard to choose, ive had piplup and chimchar so i shold pick turtwig, but chimchar is such a cute monke and gen4 doesnt have a lot fo fire types” and this other person was like “what are you talking about? these are new starters” then well, it was new starters. i dont remember them. there was one that was sort of spiky like a durian and was somewhat lion shaped i think. little fella.

then it was like!? run away/catch/run thing with a whole pack of luxray. i dont know. also in my head i was debating what normal type i should have on my team between purugly staravia or ambipom.  yeah i really dont know what was going on here. love

in a pokemon mystery dungeon au gordon would be the Hero and i would honestly put tommy as the Partner bc Vibes (and bc i feel like it <3) so! and disclaimer is this mostly based on pokemon super mystery dungeon bc thats the one i played most recently and i like it a lot (and bc it has. like all the pkmn from the time so it gives a lot of choice ksjhdk)

i think gordon would be either tepig or chimchar (some kind of fire type) and tommy would be either riolu or chespin but i am leaning towards riolu. outside of the game i think gordon would be aggron or lairon (y know. the Look) and tommy would be smth like. buneary/lopunny or vileplume. or sudowoodo. something cute or with a smile

bubby reminds me most of the watchog from the beginning of the game so i think he’d take that role but if he was his own i think he’d be either meinshao or like. a VERY scraggly furfrou skjdhd

benrey gets to be the dark matter and the beheeyem are like the skeletons. it fits perfectly

HOPEFULLY NO LEVELING OVER THE GYM LEADER’S STRONGEST POKEMON (or at least close to it if i happen to over level during the gym trainers’ battles). im not enforcing that rule super hard im just not gonna get like 5-10 levels over the gym leaders.

What starter Pokemon would the champions start with? I assume Link is close enough with them to know?

(So I'm going to do one for each generation of starters. Since there are 4 champions and only 3 starters there might be one repeated amongst champions)

Kanto:

Urbosa would choose Charmander because she worried that the others wouldnt be comfortable in the desert heat. She also just thought he was super cute and fell in love at first sight

Mipha would choose Squirtle because his ability to create water reminds her of Ruta. Like Urbosa, she just instantly fell in love the moment she saw him.

Daruk chooses Charmander for similar reasons Urbosa did. Living on death mountain can be a challenge, but for Charmander its heaven.

Revali surprisingly chooses Bulbasaur. They may not have anything in common, but once Bulbasaur saw Revali use a bow, he tried to imitate him with his vines and a stick he found. This made Revali melt a little inside.

Johto:

Urbosa and Daruk choose a Cyndaquil since they can survive in scorching climates. Urbosa had a hard time choosing though, since she thought Chikorita and Totodile were equally as cute.

Mipha happily picked Chikorita. This was unexpected to the other champions. Chikorita doesnt exactly fit in at the domain, but she loves how available water is when she needs it.

Revali chooses totodile to mix things up a bit. He and totodile dont exactly see eye to eye at first, but once they get along, Link has a hard time dealing with both their superior attitudes.

Hoen:

Once again Urbosa and Daruk are choosing the fore type. Torchic loves being with Daruk up on Death Mountain, and even more so when it evolves into Blaziken. Who knew all those boulders would make for great training.

Mipha falls in love with Mudkip the second she sees him. She can tell right away that he would feel at home in the domain.

Revali ends up choosing Treecko, which ends up driving him crazy. Treecko likes to climb the pillar in Rito village, which means Revali has to constantly fly around frantically searching for him before he hurts himself.

Sinnoh:

Mipha didnt choose her starter pokemon this time, piplup chooses her. As soon as she walks in piplup immediately runs into her arms.

Daruk and Urbosa both choose Chimchar. Urbosa absolutely adores how cute he is, and loves it when he climbs up onto her shoulder.

Revali sees potential in Turtwig and picks him. Turtwig loves being surrounded by the tall trees that line the Hebra region.

Unova:

Mipha and Oshawott love to swim together. Oshawott regularly brings Mipha pretty shells he finds.

Urbosa and Daruk practically fight over Tepig, until Zelda breaks it up and tells them they both can have one. Daruk was smitten by this cute little pig just like Urbosa, prompting the fight when they both yelled "I want that one" in unison.

Revali took one look at Snivy and knew that they would get along. Snivy of course didnt think Revali was worthy at first, but after a while she grew very fond of Revali and wouldnt want to have anyone else as her Trainer.

Kalos:

Mipha does the unthinkable able and chooses Fennekin with Daruk. No one thinks that their relationship will work out, but fennekin actually loves being with Mipha

Urbosa chooses Froakie, who loves to hide in her hair. Zelda thinks its adorable.

Revali chooses Chespin solely because he thinks it's kinda cute. That's it.

Alola:

Revali chooses Rowlet because finally theres a starter that looks like a bird. He also likes the little bowtie

Urbosa and Daruk choose Litten. Daruk is VERY happy that it resembled a cat and not a dog..

Mipha and Popplio get along so well. Mipha loves to teach him little tricks to do in the water, and Popplio likes to do little tricks for the Zora children.

Galar:

Urbosa is absolutely in love with Scorbunny, and scorbunny loves Gerudo fashion apparently. Daruk also chooses Scorbunny, and Link really finds it adorable when Scorbunny jumps on top of Daruk's head.

Revali opts to take Grookey. He knows that while he's busy training at the flight range, Grookey would have a blast playing in the trees. At the end of the day they can both go home where Grookey climbs everything Revali owns. It really reminds him of Link..

Mipha looks at Sobble and cant believe that no one else wants him. She promises to take the best care of him and always makes sure that he knows he is loved.
