Gideon the Ninth audiobook, through to the end of Chapter 31
Cytherea is described as having "biscuit-colored curls" which I kind passed over the first time I was reading. She's described elsewhere as having light brown hair; American biscuits aren't any kind of brown, if they're made right, but Muir isn't American, either. In Britain, it's my understanding that "biscuit" refers to any hard flat cookie with a stamped design, but those come in all sorts of colors. Does "biscuit" mean a secret third thing in New Zealand?
Gideon says "it's stupid for a cavalier to watch their necromancer die" which I think sort of foreshadows Gideon rejecting Harrow's instruction to survive her
Gideon asks Cytherea why she came to Canaan House in the first place, and I feel like Cytherea's answer is about when she came the first time, nearly 10,000 years ago? She talks about how the Seventh wanted her to die beautifully and she though the Emperor had her best interests more at heart than they did
She says: "If they could figure out how to stop you when you're mostly cancer and just a little bit woman, they would" about the Seventh, but that's exactly what John did to her, isn't it?
And then: "I'll probably live forever, worse luck, whatever happened to One Flesh, One End?"
Palamedes pronounces "golem" exactly like "Gollum" and that amuses me
Harrow thought the secret to Lyctorhood was a secret power source in Canaan House they were supposed to discover - I guess to the extent that the consumed cavalier's soul is a power source, she wasn't exactly wrong
Camilla: "The last thing the Warden needs is an introduction to Lady Septimus" - pretty funny in retrospect
Palamedes after Harrow removes the plug Cytherea put on the Seventh lab's keyhole: "Did you hide the last key, too?" He was right about that
Colum is described as having a "perpetually scratchy voice" which I missed the first time, but it does match up with his voice here
Mayonnaise Uncle thinks Gideon's red hair might have come from the Third, which is I guess some extra information about the distribution of phenotypes in the Empire, but the only other redheaded House character we know of is G1deon (I almost wrote "Pyrrha") (who, ironically, is not biologically related to Gideon Nav unless he was like John's cousin or something). Mercy had "pink" hair, but I don't know if that means like, strawberry blond, or like, literally dyed pink. I guess it's been 10,000 years, so things might be a bit different now
Colum: "The next time we meet, I think it's likely one of us will die." Well, it wasn't the next time they met, since they both showed up to hear Cytherea tell a very fake story about why Protesilaus was already dead just after this, but I think it's the next time they are both in the same room together than Colum dies, so, yeah
Teacher says something about a "poor child" and Gideon doesn't know who he's referring to and I don't either even on the second readthrough. I guess it's possible that he's just talking nonsense, because he's a weird construct, but he's been saying things that consistently make sense in the current context throughout the whole book, so I don't really buy that
The scene where Corona is practicing with a sword and challenging Gideon to a duel feels kind of like she's anticipating being left behind by Ianthe and is trying to lean into the idea of becoming a cavalier after this, since she can't pretend to be a necromancer without Ianthe. We know from the Fourth teens that Ianthe has been sneaking into all the locked doors and reading the theorems at this point
When Naberius comes to collect her, he says "I won't tell her". I guess he means Ianthe?
Is that really how "beatified" is pronounced? I don't think I've ever heard it spoken before. Wiktionary seems to agree that it is
If I had listened to the audiobook first, I definitely would have misheard Gideon talking about "narking" on Harrow as "knocking" and been confused
Palamedes: "All I ask is that you put some pen and flimsy in my cell so I can start my memoirs." Yeah, that's not what you wrote when you were actually confined to the River bubble for months, haha
Narration: Suddenly [Cytherea] seemed impossibly old.
Cytherea claims that John was against soul siphoning. So, the thalergy siphoning that was a fundamental part of Mercy's challenge, and which the Second House uses regularly on enemies, is totally fine and cool, but Mayonnaise Uncle send Colum's soul away temporarily to generate power is wrong. You know, Mayonnaise Uncle is actually a lot more sympathetic on the second readthrough
Mayonnaise Uncle also really had Cytherea's number in this scene and no one listened to him, he was the only one saying that Cytherea was suspicious and everyone else was disgusted by this, including Judith. No wonder he was so sour in Harrow's River bubble
Harrow wants to use Protesilaus' head for necromancy and everyone else is unhappy about this. But this isn't strange for the Nine Houses - the Canaan House skeletons were made from the dead just like the Ninth skeletons were, and just like the Sixth skeletons were in Dr. Sex, not to mention Ianthe's use of Babs' body. Like, if we are going to start complaining about the desecration of dead bodies now, I think that starts to call into question the entire way that the Nine Houses uses necromancy and has been using it for the past 10,000 years. I'm not sure any of the other necromancers really have that high ground
Palamedes says Cytherea only has days left to live, she definitely giggles at that
In the pool scene, Harrow says that the calculations for the deaths of the 200 children were very precise, and that the babies contributed the most thanergy. Now I'm wondering if Gideon failing to die might have messed up those careful calculations in some way? Obviously Harrow was still born a powerful necromancer, and it still worked overall, but now I'm curious
Harrow about John's blood ward: "I knew it had to open for me" because she was the descendant of Anastasia. She never questioned that there might have been some other reason it opened

Azris Hogwarts AU for @erisweek2023🧡 ~6k words
• ──────────────────── •
As the clock's hands show 11am the Hogwarts Express lurches forward with a jolt. The train's whistle is louder than the chatting of the pupils who haven't seen each other for over six weeks, finally reunited and trying to find places to sit down.
And so, once again the journey begins, for some of the pupils for the first time, for some for the last time.
Eris loads his hand luggage above him, rolls back his shoulders, smoothes out his white shirt and then claims his usual seat alongside his house mates. His long legs are stretched beneath the small table, crossed at the ankle. And thank Godrick, the mark he bears since this summer, his mark, is hidden beneath the sleeve of his shirt. It is nothing he is proud of, nothing he wanted, but he had no other choice.
Slowly, Eris' attention returns to reality. His friend, Tamlin laughs loudly as Elain Archeron trips over his out-stretched foot. He is sneering at her, her disheveled demeanour, having fallen to the ground and landed on her bag. Plants and books about Herbology are scattered around her, pages torn, branches of the plants and flowers broken or twisted.
The young Hufflepuff only bites down on her lower lip, tears rising in her eyes from the pain that erupts in her knees where she hit the ground. "Foul beetle," she grumbles through gritted teeth as she collects her things, and gets up. She hurdles away, quickly following after her older sister, Feyre who is already in the next compartment, not having noticed her falling. Tamlin is lucky, because if Feyre or Nesta had noticed what he had done they would have punched him right in the face.
"Isn't the little Mudblood dating your bastard brother?" Dagdan asks. He snorts and points the end of his wand at Eris.
The seventh year Slytherin flashes him a glower and shakes his head. "Don't mention that, or I will curse your stupid ass."
Deep inside his heart, Eris loves his little brother. But no one can know this, no one can know about their secret meetings where he warns Lucien about what is happening in the world, where he checks to make sure Lucien is alright. And Lucien…he can never know that he now bears…his mark. Koschei's. There are so many secrets now, secrets that weren't always there. Once, Eris used to be a happy, young boy, joyful about going to Hogwarts. This no longer is. Now he is serious, sad, torn and twisted. Scared.
"Last year, huh?" "Fucking finally," Amren chuckles, claiming her seat next to Eris. He moves over a little, making room for the short, dark-haired witch.
Dagdan snorts, but then is attention moves to Nesta Archeron passing them, chin held high and not deigning her housemates a single look.
"Not sitting with us, beautiful?" Dagdan drawls.
Nesta turns her head a little, gives him a once over, her stare flat. "I would rather sleep in the Forbidden Forest or kiss the giant squid in the Great Lake than sit with you."
Just like every year, Nesta sits with her sisters, and their boyfriends and her boyfriend. Cassian is in Gryffindor and it took her a damn long time to allow herself to fall for him, but now she loves him more than anything.
She does find two of her classmates alright — Eris an Amren— but the rest she can really do without and since she only tolerates the other two, she rather opts to sit with her family and friends.
"Making out with the squid is probably not much different to making out with Dagdan, is it?" Eris comments, a sly smile on his lips, as his eyes trail over Nesta.
That makes Tamlin laugh wickedly, but the slap he earns himself from Tamlin immediately shuts him up.
Nesta is gone in the meantime, not paying anymore attention to them.
"Big mouth, Vanserra. You are the one who hasn't hooked up with anyone in ages."
"We had summer holidays, how would you know?" the oldest Vanserra brother shoots back, hoping his glower will edge onto the Cruciatus Curse.
He is not in the mood to talk about anything related to love. Love is fucking awful, and annoys him. And in all the chaos, and whirlwind in his mind, definitely something that is not on top of his priority list.
Tamlin only snorts and shakes his head, not finding the right words for a come back.
Tired of the conversation, the Vanserra boy leans his head back after a moment, and closes his eyes. And then…Bloody hell!
Maybe love is higher up on his priority list than he thought. His thoughts immediately start to wander, going to…to the stupid Ravenclaw half-blood…And he immediately shuts up his brain. These are thoughts he can't allow.
They are long past London when Eris blinks open his eyes, absently staring out of the window. "They are recruiting," he hears Tamlin say and quickly hits is leg under the table. What a fool, talking out loud about it. "Who?" Dagdan asks, the obvious idiot he is.
"You know who," Tamlin answer him, but Eris' warning glare is enough for him to not continue speaking about this topic.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
The atmosphere is gloomy, the scenery eerie, no excitement comes from the pupils as the Hogwarts Express comes to a halt at the platform of Hogsmead station. Students leave the train, crowding along the platform, getting ready to go to the castle. Anxiousness and nervousness weigh heavy in the air, a sense of uncertainty going along with. Koschei is rising to power, and people —mostly Muggles of course— grow more and more afraid the imminent danger.
Eris Vanserra is nothing, but elegant and arrogant confidence when he steps out onto the train platform, smoothing one hand over his neatly combed hair, the other moving into the pocket of his trousers. The air around him is crisp, a breeze carrying the scent of pine and moss, as it touches his skin. His amber eyes scan his surroundings, halting on the big gates.
Beside him, Tamlin Fahrhan grumbles loudly, complaining about something Eris couldn't care less about. Dagdan wears an amused smirk on his face, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his trousers as he saunters a few steps behind the two boys. "Our last year," he comments.
But Eris does not answer him, his eyes are still on the gates, on the Aurors behind them, searching every pupil and all the luggage upon arriving. Cold sweat breaks out on the back of his neck, a kernel of panic and anxiousness taking root inside of his chest.
"Can you believe this nonsense?" Eris mutters, his tone tinged with disdain. "Searching our trunks as if we're hiding dark secrets." Like the fucking huge secret hidden beneath his sleeve! He is terrified, but masks it in sheer arrogance and disdain.
Tamlin snorts and shakes his head. "Honestly, do they think we are Death Eaters or what?"
Dagdan chuckles, his eyes dancing with mischief. "Well, that I would not deem as something bad, you know, Tam."
The two boys chuckle, but Eris doesn't. He feels like throwing up, the tattoo feeling like it is burning its way right through his pale skin. Shame and regret feel like they are sinking claws into Eris' heart.
As they make their way towards the gates, their grumbling continues, complaining about being searched and all the unnecessary things happening, but Eris does not pay attention. He is caught in his own mind, pained and haunted by what had been done to him during the summer holidays. It wasn't his choice — the choice was made for him. Beron made this choice for him.
The Aurors check them only quickly, Eris glowers at them, hoping they remember who his father is so they will let him pass — and they do.
The majestic Thestrals —only visible to Tamlin at this point— are awaiting them when they reach the carriages. Eris, Tamlin, and Dagdan climb into the carriage, no conversation happening between them, until Dagdan unfortunately has to open his mouth.
"At least the Mudblood is pretty. All three sisters actually are," Dagdan mumbles, gazing back into the distance when the carriage departs.
"By how much you talk about them, one could get the impression you have a crush on Elain Archeron!"
"Shut up, Tamlin!" Dagdan growls and slumps back into his seat. He flips off his friend, with a grimace on his face.
Once again Eris is in his own mind. The creaking of the wheels, mingles with the wind around them as they continue their journey to the castle.
As the carriages come to a halt in front of the castle, Eris, Tamlin, and Dagdan step out onto the cobblestone, heading for the inside.
The Great Hall, brightly lit and welcoming, awaits them, its doors wide open to let everyone in. In here everything seems lighter, the people happier — chatter and even laughter fills Eris' ears and he looks around in the Great Hall.
Eris once again wears his demeanour of arrogant confidence, a mask and shield he has perfected for himself. He veils his face in cool boredom, strutting towards his house table, just when someone walks past him. Not someone…Azriel Moretti.
He is also already dressed in his robes, his dark blue Ravenclaw tie in perfect place just like the glasses sitting on his nose, as he wants to walk to his table.
All house tables are adorned with goblets, and plates filled with all sorts of dishes. But Eris is quicker, not sure why he even bothers to talk to him…maybe because he wants to spend time with the handsome Ravenclaw, with the beautiful brown eyes and the lovely glasses? Ugh, hell no…
"Moretti." Eris' lips curl into a sly smile as he turns to Azriel, who has stopped walking and also turns around.
"Well, well, well," Eris drawls, his voice dripping with a feigned air of superiority. "Look who we have here. Look who has returned again, the Ravenclaw half-blood, so very smart and brilliant. Must be tough, not being part of either side, huh? Not a pureblood and not a mudblood either."
But Azriel looks unfazed, tired, his expression emotionless. He stares at Eris for a long moment and then brings one hand up to adjust his glasses.
"Being half-blood doesn't seem to be bad to me, and everything is better than being like you — a pure breed who thinks that that sort of thing really matters in life."
Eris raises an eyebrow, momentarily caught off guard by Azriel's unexpected response. His usual air of arrogance threatens to waver. His nostrils flare, eyes sharpening on the Ravenclaw. "Oh, how wonderful of you, Embracing your…oddness."
Azriel's lips curl. "Better odd than like you."
When the fuck did he grow that confidence to answer back to me? the Slytherin boy thinks. His glower only intensifies, but damn is it hot that Azriel turned so confident and strong over the holidays.
Eris opens his mouth to retort, but no words come out, he is too stunned. Azriel's subtle confidence has left him momentarily speechless and he does not like this. Before he can find his voice, Azriel leans forward a bit. He is the same height as Eris, another thing the Slytherin doesn't really like about him. But then…there is hardly anything the Slytherin really doesn't like about Azriel.
Over the last year he has figured out that he actually likes too many things about Azriel. Too many things no one can ever find out about. No one can know about his crush, it would be his end.
"You know, Eris," Azriel says, his voice dropping an octave, "I am pretty alright with the way I am. It took me a damn long time to accept it, but now I can say I feel good about myself, my heritage. And no matter what complexes you have about your own heritage, don't leave your frustration out on someone else, it doesn't make you a better person. It only makes you look pathetic. "
Eris' cheeks flush slightly, embarrassment flooding his entire being. He clears his throat, trying to regain his composure. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Moretti. I was just messing around with you, not my problem that you don't understand some fun."
Azriel chuckles coldly, his laughter like a melody that caresses Eris' skin. "Of course, Vanserra." Azriel's gaze is stern and hard. "But I want you to remember one thing: it's not the blood that defines a wizard, but his heart and mind. Maybe you should remind yourself of that from time to time."
With that, Azriel turns around and walks away, not deigning the Slytherin boy another glance. Frustrated, embarrassed and deeply annoyed, Eris heads to the Slytherin table, his thoughts a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
What goes unnoticed by him is that as Azriel walks over to the Ravenclaw table, he turns and his gaze lingers on Eris for a moment before he sits down and dives into his meal, his heart beating with a secret that is only his share. But he will never do so.
The feast begins, the pupils are greeted, Headboy and Headgirl are announced — Rhysand and Feyre, to no ones surprise.
Then the pupils are warned about the dangers lurking outside the castle walls. And then the pupils are sent of to their dorm rooms.
In the quiet Slytherin dorm room, the moonlight casts a gentle glow upon Eris' pale skin. He leans against the headboard of the bed, his long legs crossed at the ankles. His roommates, Tamlin and Dagdan, are fast asleep, their snores drifting to him, but otherwise the room is calm — one could hear a needle drop.
Eris is wide awake though— too many thoughts are coursing through his mind.
And somehow, he can't help but think back to his encounter with Azriel in the Great Hall. He remembers the witty come-back the Ravenclaw had, his confident responses, and the way his eyes shone with some unplaceable emotion.
Alone with his thoughts, Eris lets himself dream. He traces his fingers along his bedsheet, mulling over his feelings. And then…he smiles as he replays the memory, hearing Azriel's voice in his mind, seeing his eyes. His heart suddenly beats faster at the sheer thought of the Ravenclaw. Idiocy…
But in the quiet of the Slytherin dorm room, Eris allows himself to hope for something more, something completely impossible.
With a sigh, Eris settles into his bed, pulling the sheets up to his chin, thoughts of Azriel warming his heart. The memory of their encounter becomes a secret source of joy, even though it was all but joyful. But it was…something and a good distraction from all the chaos and pain in his life.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
"Same old bullshit," Dagdan comments as Professor Devlon strolls to the front of the Potions classroom. The first week at Hogwarts was rather uneventful, but now that the second week has started, things are starting to become more interesting.
"Today, we are brewing a potion of which the name should for now be a secret to you. And I will chose the partner you are working with."
Groans and annoyed grumbles fill the Potions classroom, the pupils letting their displeasure about it be known out loud.
The professor turns around, his brow raised, black robes like a veil of darkness around him. "Anyone wants to say something?" he asks, in his deep rumble, speaking very slowly.
Everyone is calm.
"I thought so. Now, let me put you into pairs." And so he starts.
Some are happy with their partners, some are not. Emerie from Gryffindor, who is in a team with Tamlin nearly throws a cauldron through the whole classroom when she finds out about her partner.
But it is another cauldron that should bring Eris and Azriel together. "Moretti, Vanserra."
Eris' eyes nearly fall out of their sockets and the groan Azriel releases speaks volumes.
Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Cassian, and best friend of Azriel, quickly reaches his hand over to give his friend a supportive pat on his back. "You can do this, Azzy. It is just one potion."
Azriel fights the urge to roll his eyes and walks over to where Professor Devlon is waiting next to a cauldron, Eris already standing next to him — obviously Devlon would chose Eris' cauldron, him being head of Slytherin House obviously makes him favour the Slytherins.
"Don't mess this up, I need a good grade." "Funny, I was going to say the same thing," Azriel grumbles and turns to Eris, a disdainful expression on his face. Azriel pushes his glasses up his nose as he draws in a steadying breath, steeling himself for what lies ahead — having to work together with Eris. Being in close proximity to Eris.
With the cauldron in front of them bubbling softly, the two boys set out to work, their movements cautious. Eris reaches for a vial of crushed rose thorns, his fingers accidentally brushing against Azriel's as they both reach for the same jar. Their hands linger for the blink of an eye, and they exchange a fleeting glance that holds a hint of intrigue. But quickly they look away, and pull their hands back.
"Watch it, Moretti and take a step back," Eris growls. "I'd hate to see your glasses fog up from the heat of the cauldron."
Azriel rolls his eyes, his lips curving into a wry smile. "I'm more worried about you accidentally dipping your fingers into the liquid." Not a good come-back, but the only one Azriel could come up with. His mind is racing, heart beating to fast — he still feels Eris' fingers against his.
Somehow, they slowly find their rhythm, falling into a pattern of actions and they work perfectly together, without any conversation passing between them.
Eris pours a good amount of peppermint and Pearl Dust into the Caulrdon, while Azriel grinds moonstone powder. "Easy there, Moretti," Eris quips, "we don't want you to grind it down to nothing."
Azriel only shakes his head and then adds the powder to the potion and it starts to bubble a little more. "Looks good."
Eris smirks. "Talking about me?"
"No, about myself." Azriel quickly turns his head, not able to avoid the small smile that appears on his lips.
Their banter continues, and soon turns from not so nice remarks to subtle flirtation — somehow unbeknownst to them both. As they lean over the cauldron, their shoulders brush against each other, a sensation that sends a shiver down both their spines. Their eyes meet once again, a spark passing between.
The potion continues to simmer, and they are constantly checking if everything goes well.
Azriel and Eris are the top students of the class, and barely ever fail any potion. But this time, it is a little more difficult. With the constant distractions…
Both look into the cauldron and then lift their gazes. Their eyes lock. In that moment, the classroom fades away, and it seems like it is just the two of them. Their fingers brush once more, the touch fleeting, as they both sharply pull their hands back from the cauldron.
Eris's heart races, his breath catching as he meets Azriel's gaze again. Time seems to stand still.
And then, as quickly as it began the moment between them is gone. Eris reaches up to brush a few strands of hair out of his face. They have curled around his forehead from the steam rising from the cauldron.
But it is the wrong arm and his sleeve shifts, revealing a glimpse of ink on his forearm.
Azriel's eyes widen as he catches sight of the tattoo – his mark.
"Eris," Azriel starts, his voice cautious, "what is…?"
But Eris pulls his arm behind his back, panic flashing across his features. Cold sweat breaks out all over his skin, panic gripping his heart with icy claws. "Don't. Don't ask. Just… promise me you won't say anything."
Azriel doesn't react and so Eris grows angry. He glowers, teeth clenched. "You can't say anything. I warn you. Think of your pathetic Muggle mother," he seethes.
Shock flashes in Azriel's eyes, just like pain and disappointment. Azriel takes a step back, his lips parting but no words leaving his mouth.
Eris takes a cautious step forward. He wants to take back the words, wants to tell Azriel that he would never hurt his mother, but his fear, the panic running so deep in his veins, has been stronger and made him say something he did not at all mean. The Slytherin wants to apologise, explain himself, but he gets no chance to do so.
"Tell us what yours smell like!" Devlon orders, suddenly appearing in front of them.
Being so caught up in their own conversation, the two boys haven't noticed that everyone else has stopped brewing and it is time to do a presentation in class now.
"Go on then!" Professor Devlon commands, no hint of kindness nor any room for protest in his voice.
Azriel harshly shoves Eris by his shoulder as he steps forward, closer to the Cauldron.
"Step back, I can only smell you, Vanserra."
"Says the one who bathed in cologne this morning — its the only damn thing I can smell," Eris growls, although his heart aches. Why the bloody hell does his life have to be so terribly difficult?
In this moment, as they present their potion, even Amren is quiet at the scenery that unfolds itself  in front of the pupils. She is watching the two males through squinted eyes, a sly smile on her lips. Are they truly revealing their most hidden secrets in this moment, their crush for the other? Obviously unbeknownst to them…
"That, is indeed highly interesting," professor Devlon says, his eye brows raised. "Is that all you can scent, Mr Vanserra?"
"It is, I can barely make out the other scents over his cologne. But I think there also is…spearmint, and hint of old parchment, and night air."
Professor Devlon taps the side of his face, as if in deep thought and then waves his hand.
"Good, good. As it should be. Class is over for today."
"Won't you tell us what potion it was, Professor?" Azriel asks, but Devlon does not hear him or decides to ignore him.
"Amortentia, Azriel." It is Gwyn who answers him. She is in his year and in his house. Her teal eyes meet his when she says in a soft voice, "It lets us scent the things we like the most, the things we desire, those things that attract us."
There is small curve to her lips and then she walks past Azriel, following after Emerie and Nesta, leaving an absolutely stunned Azriel behind.
Holy Helga! The things we desire.
Eris hasn't heard the conversation, his mind is racing, thoughts too loud and he knows he has to talk to Azriel. He walks up to him when the Ravenclaw is about to follow Cassian and Rhysand. But Eris is faster. Hidden behind the robes, he grabs Azriel's arm, pulling him to him.
There is warning in his voice, but also fear when he leans in closely. "Astronomy tower. 10pm. Come alone."
He does not wait for an answer, he only holds on to the sliver of hope that Azriel will come.
The moment Eris steps outside the classroom, a painful, dreadful time is about to start. He has to wait until it is 10pm to find out if Azriel will give him away, and if he even shows up.
He barely communicates during his time at dinner, and also not later when they sit together in the common room. He excuses himself early, leaving for his dorm room. Both Tamlin and Dagdan give him questioning looks, sneering at him for being a baby who needs a lot of sleep. Amren simply does not care about him going to bed so early, she just shrugs her shoulders and Nesta, when he passes her before the staircase, has something like empathy glimmering in her eyes.
But it is only fleeting, and Eris not at all in the mood to talk to her. His mind is racing, heart beating faster than a stallion galloping in the wilderness.
He feels so empty, so sad, so torn, and broken. When he is finally alone all the emotions reach the surface, and he silently sobs into a pillow.
Later, he washes himself, not immediately putting back on his pyjama shirt so he can look at the tattoo, his mark for a moment. Everything inside him convulses, until there is nothing but a painful ache in his heart.
Everything hurts just at the sheer thought of what had been done to him. It wasn't his choice, he never made this choice. His father did and his mother had to stand by and watch.
He does not look at it directly, the steam from bathing earlier making the tattoo barely visible through the mirror. But it is there. And if he can't see it, he will always feel it. It is burned into his skin…and that until forever.
Eris' fingers curl around the frame of the sink, his teeth clenched, until he pushes off and finally dons his night shirt. He brushes his damp hair back, securing them at the nape of his neck with a hair tie.
He hopes he can somehow make Azriel see that he did not want this. He hopes Azriel will somehow understand he was forced to wear his mark. Azriel is a smart boy, and also kind, Eris thinks, he will understand it. Or at least, maybe not tell anyone.
But what if Rhysand or Cassian, Azriel's best friends, already know about it? Would he really keep a secret from them?
Although, Eris doubts it, he holds on to the glimmer of hope — Azriel would first let him explain…
The handle on the clock ticks almost painfully slowly, reminding Eris exactly how miserable his situation right now is. And it is very miserable.
When Dagdan and Tamlin return to the dorm room, Eris is still awake but pretends to be fast asleep. They also wash and finally climb into their beds, falling asleep soon. But Eris is wide awake, awaiting the time to finally go up to the astronomy tower.
And so the time passes, so terribly slowly, but at some point 9:45 arrives and Eris sets out for the astronomy tower — calm and smooth as a cat. He can't be caught. Under no circumstance can anyone catch him.
Eris, his wand tightly grasped in one hand, wanders through the corridors, always watching out for any imminent danger. He doesn't know what wanders the corridors of Hogwarts at night, you can never be careful enough.
The air is cool and crisp, goosebumps appearing on his skin. But they don't appear because of the cold, but because of how nervous and anxious he is. This talk will decide about everything.
If the talk even happens. What if Azriel does not show up? What if he already told everyone?
Doubts start to gnaw on Eris…Maybe it had been a bad idea to ask him for a talk in the first place?
Eris' bare feet — so caught up in thoughts, he forgot to put on slippers— move over the floor as calm as possible.
He releases a low and relieved breath when he finally arrives at the staircase leading up to the astronomy tower. With careful and coordinated steps he climbs upstairs and—
His breath catches in his throat, heart hammering against his rib cage.
Azriel turns around, adjusting his glasses, and gives Eris a once over. Just like the Slytherin, Azriel is dressed in his pyjamas…and barefoot.
"You are late," the Ravenclaw says matter-of-factly. His face is expressionless, on the edge of cold.
"I didn't think you would come," Eris breathes, finally taking the last step.
"But I am here. So what do you want to tell me?" Azriel takes a step back, leaning against the railing that surrounds the astronomy tower. "How you got the mark? If you are proud of it?" Azriel raises a brow, waiting.
Eris swallows around the lump in his throat, it is probably the size of a peach. He wipes his clammy hands down his thighs, his jaw aching from how hard he clenches it. Then he shakes his head. "Did you tell anyone?"
Azriel looks pained, almost like he had been struggling with this question for the past hours. And he has. It has plagued him ever since he spotted the mark on his classmate's arm.
The Ravenclaw gives his head a little shake and Eris releases another breath of relief, before Azriel says. "Not yet…"
"You can't tell anyone, Azriel." Eris is in his face in an instant, hands brace next to Azriel's body on the railing. "Hogwarts is all I have. The only place where I am safe, where…I…" His voice breaks, not able to finish his sentence.
"Are you not safe with your Death Eater mummy and daddy?" Azriel retorts, glowering fiercely.
"My mother is no Death Eater!" Eris quickly defends, glowering as well.
He can see his breath —or is it Azriel's?— between their faces and it distracts him momentarily. Their closeness does.
Azriel raises a surprised brow. "She is not?"
"She would never." Eris swallows thickly. "And neither would I. It wasn't my choice. I did not agree to this, I was forced to do it." "Everyone has a choice!" Azriel growls, shoving his face forward, his forehead now pressed against Eris'. "Everyone has a choice, Eris."
Eris grows angry, because he didn't. It is simply wrong. Sometimes you don't have a choice. He clearly didn't.
"I did not. With a father like Beron, you don't have a choice."
Eris' eyes close, when tears start to burn in them and already dampen his lashes. He inhales a deep, shaky breath and makes a move to step away from Azriel. But the Ravenclaw is faster, his hand…with scars on it, curls around Eris' wrist. "You were forced to do it?"
Eris nods slowly, and the first tear slides out of the corner of his eye.
"Do you believe in what they praise? Blood purity, I mean." "I did…I did for a long time." "Not anymore?" Azriel's tone is careful, but much softer. Eris shakes his head.
"What has changed?" the Ravenclaw knows this is his only chance to properly talk to Eris, to see if he really means it, or if he just pretends to be something better so Azriel won't give him away.
"Many things," Eris breathes, Azriel's hand still on his wrist. And it really shouldn't feel that right.
"Enlighten me." Azriel won't let him go that easily.
"My little brother…Lucien. I think you might know him?"
Azriel nods, his expression once again unreadable.
"He as a Pureblood is dating a Mud—a Muggleborn now. Elain Archeron. And this somehow already changed a lot about how I see things. And I realised that blood purity is simply wrong, our beliefs are. And then—"
Eris cuts himself off, swallowing thickly once again. Will he lay all the cards on the table now? Reveal everything? Maybe this is his only chance…
"And you."
"I changed?" Azriel seems irritated, his brows raised.
Eris throws his head back with a loud groan. "How thick are you? You fucking changed something about me, okay? I have an enormous crush on you. And I don't give a damn about you being a Half-Blood or your mother being a Muggle. I couldn't care less and that was when I realised that I am not like them. That I am different. That I want to be different!"
Tears freely roll down the Slytherin's face. His declaration somehow hangs in the air between them, heavy and tangy, but Azriel, gathering all his courage, does what he has been dreaming of since quite a while.
He slams his lips onto the Slytherin's, his arms curling around Eris' shoulders so he can bring him in as close as possible. Eris pushes the Ravenclaw against the railing, his tongue brushing Azriel's lip. He can't kiss him hard enough, fast enough.
The Ravenclaw's glasses are wedged between their faces, low groans and growls, erupting in both their throats, hands touching every possible place just to feel more of the other.
Once their lips are swollen, breaths ragged, their lips part, but their bodies stay close, holding onto each other. "Azriel," Eris breathes, needing a moment to ground himself.
"My Amortentia…the potion we brewed today. It smelled like you." There is a small, sheepish smile on the Ravenclaw's face. Azriel adjusts both his glasses and his hair and finally meets Eris' gaze.
"Amortentia…" Eris' voice is tinged with wonder. "Mine smelled like you." He smiles then, relief and something like hope in his eyes.
"I don't want to drag you into this with me, Azriel."
Eris brings up a hand, brushing his thumb over Azriel's cheek. "It is my battle and it won't get easier, I don't want you to be in danger because of me. I bear his mark, and I am part of the Death Eaters, I can't bring you into this with me."
But Azriel vehemently shakes his head. "Too late. I am already in this with you. From now on, we are doing this together. I will help you get out of it. Or I will protect, but you don't have to deal with all of this alone."
"Azriel—" "Don't Azriel me! I will help you with this, and you can't stop me."
"Good Godrick, I don't deserve you." Eris shakes his head with a small, sad chuckle and leans in to press a kiss against Azriel's lips.
"You don't deserve what was done to you, Eris." Sadness passes over Azriel's face. "But we will find a solution. Together."
Eris intertwines their fingers. "Together."

It's been like almost a full week since episode 8 came out and WOW. Just WOW.
The fight with Ares was exactly how I imagined it as a child and more. The way Percy immediately got his ass headed to him only to go full Moana perfection. Also the actor for Ares is a former WWE wrestler, so when Percy is like I wanna fight i'm like boy he will break your skull.
Alecto maybe a bitch but she's one of the cool ones and possibly in my top ten of antagonists who aren't really antagonists they just have different morals.
Did I cry when Annabeth gave Percy her necklace? Yes. They quoted the scene of her giving it to him, word for word.
Luke teaching Percy to sword fight and give him advice was so cute only to be riped to shreds at the climax, but we'll get there.
Olympus looks like something out of a video game and to be honest, I don't really like it that much because it doesn't really give me this is the land of the gods. It looks gorgeous, but not something i'd for this show. I personally prefer the one for the movie. I know sue me, but it gave more of what ancient Greece would have actually looked like. One of three things the movie did right. BUT the throne room spot on ten out of ten.
Also Zeus just chilling in his throne waiting for Percy, beautiful. The actors whole demeanor while playing Zeus is so intemanating yet ignorant. This maybe one my favorite irradiation of Zeus. But the way Poseidon protected Percy from Zeus AND surrendered to Zeus for his son, someone just one the Best godly parent of the year award. This meeting or reunion of Percy and Poseidon was too perfecto. Percy calling Poseidon dad in ANCIENT GREEK no less. Also the way how Poseidon holds him self while talking to Percy you can see the pain, fearfullness, and proudness all in the actors face. The cast in this is so good. You can also see how Poseidon just wants to scoop Percy up in a hug and protect him. Why does this show play with my heart strings.
The batrayal is prefect. With everything to Percy's realization in the way Luke looks at Annabeth when she reveals herself. This is better then using the scorpion because it adds more emotional depth and you can feel just the pain coming from Luke. Also when Percy was like we met your father and Luke just snapped. I got chills but also laughed out loud because if Lin was my father i'd have issues too.
I bawled when the trip split up at the end, all of them have grown so much. Also Annabeth going to Disney World, you know that's the photo the Percy will have in his notebook, guaranteed. Also Grover's searcher license being a flower is too adorable.
The reunion between Sally and Percy also destroyed me. It was all the emotions. As I said before this show is phenomenal and it wouldn't be anything with its cast. Where's the award for this show gods Damit.
Cronos just invading Percy's dream and Percy just going full Persassy on his dusty titan ass was perfect. Not Sally with the Dream Journal though. Also I'm probably the only one, but I forgot that Percy was Seventh grade.
The ending with Gabe becoming stone not because Sally had enough, but because of his disrespect and lack of being a decent human being was what he deserved.
In total I cried 7 times probably because I can't believe this season is over. This show is full of so much passion and you can feel it. It has some faults was piece of media adapting a popular series doesn't, but this does the books justice and it intorduces the story to a wider audience. Though a longer episode count would be much appreciated.
If this doesn't get a award I throwing hands anyways, good morrow fellow fans, hyperfixators, and all the others in between.

Tumblr media
Walking into your new dorm room, you weren’t sure what to expect. Sure, you’ve seen the pictures online, but there’s nothing like the slightly dusty window letting in a hazy ray of light shining down onto the slight dip in the middle of the mattress you now call your own. Your desk almost touched the corner of your twin-sized bed, and your new bookshelf barely has enough room to fit half of the books you brought, but this was your new life. It didn’t dawn on you just how different university would be until you arrived this morning, but here you were, unpacking all your clothes into the cramped closet in the corner. Luckily, you’re in the building where you had a single room. Privacy was something you were worried about, and the communal washrooms will be something to get used to, but either way, this was a new start, and no matter how nervous you are, you’re grateful for it.
High school wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t what you expected it to be. Going into it, you obviously knew that it would be nothing like how the movies depicted, but you were excited. How bad could those four years really be if you had your best friend right by your side? He was incredible. He understood you better than anybody else, would be able to tell how you were feeling without the exchange of words, but most of all, he was your person, and you were his.
There was no doubting that in all your years of friendship.
But alas, like all good things in life, they must come to an end.
The summer going into the twelfth grade, he was longer your best friend. The boy that would go to the farmers market with you and your mom every other Sunday was now lining up for the newest sneaker drop. The boy that would rather spend the night at home and binge-watch your shared comfort show for the seventh time is now out with the boys sneaking into shisha bars and doing donuts in the community centre parking lots with their new cars. You watched as he slowly forgot about you, getting caught up in his new friendships and obsessing over material items that he never cared about before. It’s not that you were upset he found new friends. It’s that the only time he would reach out was to randomly drop off something he had bought you in hopes it would make up for him blowing you off again.
They started small, simple sweaters he knew you would like, but the gifts became almost ridiculous as time passed. He would never let you return them either, so now you have designer shoes for imaginary banquets. Of course, you were always grateful, but you would trade all his gifts just to spend time with him again. His family has always been wealthy, they always went on lavish vacations and drove the nicest cars, but you never really cared about what he spends his money on or just how much his parents make. You cared that he saw you as a person he wanted to be with rather than just someone he could shove gifts towards to make up for the quality time he’d miss.
But now you’re here. You were arriving three hours before the suggested move-in time because you didn’t want to be rushed to unpack before orientation starts later. You’ve seen a few people walking around on your floor, but neither of your neighbours have arrived, and honestly, you don’t mind because that means you’re able to blast your music without worry. As The 1975 fills your room, you stand still for a second, really taking in where you are. You’re now attending one of the best schools in the country, living on your own with a floor of people you don’t know yet. It starts to sink in that you are starting anew. The people who end up in the rooms next to you might just end up being your lifelong friends. As the song comes to an end, you decide it’s time to try to make yourself look a little more presentable since it’s almost time for people to start rolling in.
...
It’s almost five in the afternoon, and everyone on your floor is meeting outside on the field for a quick introduction before group dinner. You’re sitting with your knees pressed to your chest as the girl next to you tries to make small talk. To be fair, she’s incredibly sweet, but you can’t focus on her because somewhere behind you, there is a voice you think you recognize. There’s no way he would be here. Sure, you have no idea what school he ended up choosing, but if he ended up here, he would’ve at least texted you. Right? Before you can confirm your suspicions, orientation starts, and your group leader is already talking with more energy than you can handle.
The group of guys settle down close by, and you can’t stop yourself from looking over, wondering if you’ll see the head of brown curls. Instead, you’re met with a bunch of frat boy looking wannabes that instantly make your eyes roll. To say you’re disappointed that you didn’t see him was so stupid. It’s been over a year, yet here you were, hoping to magically bump into him as if this was some cliche movie. If anything, it’s frustrating. It’s frustrating that even though he stopped caring for you, you still longed to see him, to hear him laugh at one of your cheesy jokes. It’s even more frustrating that this new start you’ve been looking forward to, makes you miss him even more.
There are only sixteen people on your floor, but introductions take a lifetime because someone didn’t come on time. When they finally do show up, you almost laugh at this whole situation because, of course, it was him. Of course, he was strutting down the courtyard in some brand new Gucci sneakers and the same Balenciaga sweater he had bought for you a few months ago. Of course, the annoying group of boys behind you gesture for him as he quickly apologizes to the group leaders. And, of course, when you make eye contact, he’s the one looking at you with a mixture of shock and annoyance.
Quickly rushing back to your room after the meeting, you decide you’re ordering in tonight so that you don’t have to see him for at least another day. This is all so fucked up. You wrack your brain trying to understand how probable this whole situation is because, frankly, it feels like a sick joke, and on top of it, he’s the one annoyed?
Naturally, you spend the rest of the night unpacking the rest of your things before ordering your comfort food to wash down all the feelings you’re experiencing. Putting on your favourite show, you begin your tenth rerun as you bury yourself in your blankets. Part of you feels so stupid for completely ignoring your initial dinner plans, but you knew with the mindset you had at the moment, there was no way you would have enjoyed yourself. It’s a bit silly you haven’t left your room since picking up your takeout, you don’t even know who lives beside you, but that’s a problem for tomorrow.
Slipping into your slides, you head towards the washroom with your little toiletry bag. You pass by the girl you were sitting with earlier, and she sends you a smile. After apologizing for disappearing all night she just laughs and assures you nothing happened. She even points out where her room is if you were up to hang out tomorrow during frosh activities.
Just this interaction makes you feel better, and you quietly hum along to the familiar tune coming from the shower stall.
He used to play this song all the time, claiming it spoke to him the first time he heard it. Since then, it became the song he would play anytime he’d come to pick you up, explaining how this song is special because the ending always reminded him of you. It didn’t matter how long it’s been since the two of you hung out. Every time you heard ‘Pluto Projector,’ it would always bring a smile to your face. You even tried to show the song to your ex-boyfriend, but he never paid attention to your suggestions. He always claimed that his music taste was better. Thankfully that relationship only lasted a couple of months, but still, the regret of not waiting for someone worthy lingers in your mind.
While applying your moisturizer, you hear the water shut, the person pausing the song right as the orchestra starts to come in. Worried about who you may run into, you quickly pack up your stuff. You hear the click of the lock, and as you turn around, you’re met with him, with his curly hair all damp and his obnoxious teal blue robe wrapped loosely around his waist.
Rushing past him, you briskly walk towards your room, but before you can close the door, his foot jams between the doorframe. He pushes his way in and quietly closes the door, only to be met with the unimpressed look on your face. He circles around your room, eyes searching for any trace of your past friendship before standing back at the door.
“What do you want, Matsukawa?” you ask impatiently. It’s bad enough you run into the one person you wanted to forget, but now he’s standing in your room with a matching frown.
Something indescribable flashes across his eyes, and you can visibly see his frown deepen at your question. Leaning against your door, his arms come up to rub over his face, peeking at you through his fingers before letting out a long sigh. “When did I become Matsukawa? I thought I was Issei.”
You can’t help the chuckle that escapes your lips, and you realize how childish your grudge might be, but he has changed, and the man standing in front of you isn’t the same man you once called your best friend. “When you changed, Matsukawa. Issei was my best friend, and YOU are not.”
His eyes filled with confusion as his eyebrows furrow, taking a step forward towards you. “I’m sorry? I tried to stay in touch with you. You’re the one that stopped talking to me, so I’d try to send you things instead. How was I the one who changed?”
You stand there, staring at him for a second before shaking your head. “I can’t do this right now; I want to have a good day tomorrow, so I need to go to sleep. Please, leave my room.”
His eyes soften a little, and you can see a faint glimpse of his infamous lazy smile, “We both know you’re not going to be sleeping anytime soon,” he stalks over and kicks his slides off before sitting at the end of your bed. “Let’s talk about this because, frankly, I’m tired of watching you decide if you hate me every time you see me.”
The nerve of this man. The fact that he invites himself into your room, declares his stay, and then sits on your bed without permission. You don’t even know if he’s wearing anything under that robe as his hair is literally dripping onto your comforter. Regardless of what the situation is, this action alone has you seething. Turning towards your desk chair, you harshly pull out the slightly imbalanced piece of wood and sit down, silently questioning why he isn’t the one on the chair.
He watches you stomp around, and he kinda chuckles at your little tantrum, missing how easy it was to rile you up. Your glare at him would be a little scary if he didn’t see the way your lips mumbled to yourself. It’s honestly a little cute to watch you all frustrated with him even though he saw one of the shoes he bought you in your closet. Sure, they look brand new, but the fact that you brought them here with you must mean something.
The year you two spent apart has been really stressful on Matsukawa. He thought that you’d be happy that he could give you everything you wanted. He knew he wasn’t spending as much time with you as he used to, but he thought the gifts he spent hours lining up for would make up for it.
When you stopped returning his calls and texts, he was crushed. Everyone could see how he felt about you, but then he watched you get close to another man. Within two weeks, you were dating him, and he was left watching from a distance. Neither of you ever confirmed your feelings for each other, but he could tell that man wasn’t making you happy. He didn’t understand your different facial expressions, he didn’t care about what you had to say, but all he could do was watch the girl he wanted from the sidelines.
Sure, as time went on, Matsukawa also started talking to other girls. None of them ever became his girlfriend, he didn’t think it was fair to get with someone when he was set on you, but he had his fair share of hookups. He has money, a shit ton of it, but he never let that get to his head. It wasn’t his fault that he gained popularity when he started to get into name brands and upgraded his car, but none of that ever changed who he was — at least not to the degree you had him pinned.
He watches you carefully, your leg bouncing impatiently as your eyes glare daggers in his direction. He runs his hand through his hair and lets out a sigh, “what did I do wrong? You didn’t even give me a chance to fix whatever I did (y/n).”
The lamp in the corner of your room shines a dim yellow hue onto his features. His brows are knitted in concern as he leans forwards on his knees, his robe showing off a deep v down his chest. You can feel yourself freeze up at his question, goosebumps covering your skin, while your eyes pour into his. “You changed Matsukawa. You stopped making an effort to be there. I’m not some girl you can just buy with all your money. I have never cared about how much you have or what you can afford -- you know that! It doesn’t matter what. I always split things with you because I never wanted you to feel like I was there for your money. But then suddenly, you just stop showing up. You wouldn’t even tell me you made other plans, and I would just open my door to find some package you dropped off.”
His eyes search your face before letting out a deep sigh. “I tried! You wouldn’t answer any of my calls, I know I stopped explaining myself, but can you blame me? Don’t you think I want to take you around and introduce you to all my friends? Don’t you think I miss going on late-night drives with you to 7-11? Every time I would drive past there, you’re all I thought about. You and your stupid obsession with cheese taquitos and Arizona tea. Did you even think about how I felt when you decided to act like I don’t exist?” He hastily stands up and paces around in the confined space of your dorm room. He never raises his voice, so hearing him talk at a slightly louder volume was enough to let you know he was dead serious. “You know, I never stopped talking highly about you because as selfish as it is, those boys have an important family. They have the connections you dream about (y/n), so even when you started to ignore me to go out with that fucking ex-boyfriend of yours, I never said anything.”
He looks at you with pleading eyes before going to sit back down, his elbows now resting against his thighs. “I know you don’t care about my money, but I didn’t know how else to tell you I was still thinking about you. I tried to get you things that you’d like, things that you’d wear. But no, I had to watch you put on a fake smile and laugh at that asshole’s jokes while you stubbornly ignored me to the point I thought you had me blocked.”
Looking up at you through his curls, his hooded eyes looked darker before. His lips curled into a forced smile as he let out a breathy chuckle, “he didn’t deserve you. But what do I know, right?”
You sat there quietly, taking in what he had just said. You didn’t realize how hurt he was. To be frank, up till now, you were so consumed by your feelings, and you failed to consider his own. His head is hanging between his hands, and the silence in your room right now is insufferable. He’s just explained himself, yet all you can do is scoff at yourself. While you were obsessing over the fact that Matsukawa wasn’t coming over to watch another rerun of your favourite show, he was out picking out different gifts he thought you’d like. You didn’t even open the last few because your own emotions so blinded you. Hearing him take a deep breath, he stands up and smiles sadly at you, “nice talk, (y/n). Thanks for listening.”
“I’m sorry, Issei.”
He lifts his head to meet your gaze, and you can visibly watch as his shoulders relax. It’s been too long since he’s heard you call him by his first name.
“I’m sorry too. I should’ve just gotten out of the car to talk to you.”
You look at him with a small smile. Walking towards your bed, you sit down and pat the spot beside you, pulling him in for a hug. His robe is probably the softest thing you’ve ever felt in your life, your fingers sinking into the fabric as you hold him close. His arms are immediately wrapping around you, and you both stay like that for a minute before you pull back, a faint blush blooming on your cheeks.
“No, you have nothing to apologize for. You tried reaching out to me, you tried explaining yourself, but I didn’t even give you a chance. I’m sorry. I can’t believe I was so caught up I didn’t even think about what you were feeling. The fact that you still wanted to introduce me to your friends, even after all the stuff I did to you….I’m so sorry, Issei.”
He gives you a playful smile and lightly nudges your shoulder with his, “yea, that was kinda unfair, but good thing we talked it out, huh?”
You flash him a sheepish smile, but your eyes glimmer with happiness, “yea, it’s good you barged into my room at two in the morning. Just like old times.”
His smile instantly grows at your playfulness, and he gives you a mock scoff. “I’m sorry, but if I remember correctly, you’d beg for me to stay over at two am cause you decided you wanted to watch a scary movie. Have you gotten better with horror movies this year, or are you still as jumpy as I remember?”
The tip of your ears growing warm while you mutter out a quick “shut up.”
His laughter makes your heart beat against your chest because you missed it so much. It’s been a while since you got to hear him laugh with you, and without even thinking, you go in for another hug.
His arms easily hold you close, and one of his massive hands reaches up to pet your hair. “Missed me, didn’t you?” he asks, and you can feel him smirking, so you just nod, your fingers playing with the damp, short curls at the base of his nape.
“Issei?” you ask with a little murmur against his neck.
“Hmmm?”
You smile to yourself and pull back a little, so you can see his face, “so other than hanging out with your friends and keeping up with my relationship, what else have you been doing?”
His face drops as he looks at you with a deadpan stare, the corners of his mouth twitching up in a smile as you giggle at his reaction. He pushes you back, so you end up falling onto your mattress, his long limbs effortlessly straddling your legs. Before you can think about the position you’re in, his fingers start to poke all-around your torso, causing you both to laugh as he starts to tickle you. “You think you’re funny, huh?” His hands go to tickle your worst spot as he starts to talk, but you can’t hear him over your own laughter. His fingers slow down, but you keep giggling when you’re met with his lazy smirk, “I’m trying to talk, you know. It’s rude you’re laughing when I’m trying to speak to you.”
He leans forwards and has both hands resting at the side of your head. Your faces now inches apart, the faint smell of sandalwood from his body wash now becoming more apparent. You stare into his brown eyes, and it almost feels as if everything stopped for a few seconds. The lamp in your room doesn’t do him justice as the shadows of his face wash over his features, but even then, his eyes stare back at you with a slight twinkle as you catch your breath.
Reaching up to wrap your arms around his neck and you tug him close, crashing his lips onto yours. The sweet hints from his beloved Burt’s bee’s lip balm make his lips even softer than you imagined. The kiss is short, but as you both pull away, he’s staring at you with a goofy smile.
“You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do that, (y/n).”
“Me too, Issei,” you whisper back before his lips capture yours again, this time with more confidence. This kiss is much more passionate than the last, holding onto each other in hopes of deepening it. One of his hands travels down to grab your waist, his tongue sweeping across your bottom lip, asking for permission. Your lips part and your tongues swirl together effortlessly while your hands play with his hair, pulling him closer into your body.
His hand feels a little rougher than before against your bare skin because of how often he trains, running down the length of your leg. The light touch of his fingertips admires how smooth your skin is before they trail back up, stopping just before the edge of your pyjama shorts. Hooking your leg around his hip, he leans into your body even further and even nips at your bottom lip.
Matsukawa smirks and whispers against your lips, “did he ever kiss you like that?”
Slightly surprised at the question, you shake your head, answering honestly. “He never made me feel the way you do.”
You watch as his eyes dilate, flickering into a deep brown you’ve never seen on him. The hand that was previously on your leg is now cupping your cheek, stroking your face softly, while his own face blooms into a rare shade of pink. Still, his words are clear, “please...give me a chance? He never treated you right. Let me take care of you?”
Words can’t describe how his question made you feel. You spent years learning about Matsukawa, understanding him to the point where words weren’t necessary to see what was happening in his head. Not once did you think he reciprocated your feelings, let alone want to be with you. Yet, here you are, caged beneath his arms as his hopeful eyes pour into yours.
Turning your head slightly, you press a kiss onto his hand and smile. “Please?”
His face breaks into a smile. His cheeks are tinted rose as the corners of his mouth reach up to his eyes. Leaning down, he peppers kisses onto your face, the loose curls on his head tickling your cheeks as he giggles with you. The kisses trail down to your jaw, and he follows the natural curve of your jawline to your ear. “Is this okay?” he whispers softly, only continuing down this path when you give him a curt nod.
Your legs tighten around his waist when he begins to press open mouth kisses down your neck, gently nipping at the spots that make you let out shy little sounds. His tongue leaves kitten licks against your skin after he’s sucked on it, littering faint marks. Seeing you with light hickeys on the base of your neck and collarbones is completely self-indulgent for him. Thinking about waking up in the morning and seeing the marks he knows he gave you makes him inexplicably happy as he sucks particularly hard, causing you to wince.
Immediately he stops and turns to you, “I’m sorry, did I hurt you? D’you wanna stop?”
His concern for you is truly a breath of fresh air compared to what you had before. Shaking your head, you guide his hands to the edge of your sweater. “You bought this for me… it’s only fair I let you take it off.”
He studies your face for a second before his lips curl into a lazy smirk, quickly pulling the overpriced sweater off your body. He takes a sharp inhale when you reveal you aren’t wearing anything underneath as he’s met with your beautiful tits, nipples hard and pointed. “You let me in here knowing you weren’t wearing a bra? And here I thought you were a good girl.”
Noticing how your legs tighten around him, he smirks even wider. Leaning back down, his kisses trail down to your chest, and his lips feel soft and warm against your skin. His fingers take hold of your chin and force you to look down on him while his lips wrap around your nipple, the tip of his tongue flicking gently at the hardened bud. His hand palms against the fatty flesh of your other tit; his fingers are rolling your nipple before tugging on it experimentally.
Suddenly feeling shy, your arms come up to cover your face slightly just to have him lace his fingers with yours, pulling your arms away. “Don’t hide from me. Let me see how pretty you look. Let me hear how good I make you feel, okay?”
“I’ve never had someone play with my tits like this…”
He just stares at you, brows knitted as his smirk turns into a slight pout. “You’re with me now; that means every part of your body will be pleasured. I wanna hear and see all of you, okay?”
With a shy nod, you gently roll your hips against him, inviting more of his attention.
He kisses you once more, murmuring against your lips, “you’re so beautiful. Let me know if I’m going too fast, okay?”
His lips follow down your body once more, lightly biting your tit before using the flat part of his tongue to feel the valley between your chest. Matsukawa lets out a low moan as you arch upwards, pushing yourself closer to his touches. Letting go of your hands, he begins to massage the soft flesh of your tits and kiss down your stomach, the tip of his tongue trailing against the waistband of your shorts.
“Let me hear you ask for it; I don’t wanna do something you don’t want.”
“Isseiiii, please?” you whine out, the tip of your ears turning hot at the thought of asking for his tongue.
He smirks at you, looking up through his hooded eyes and tsks. “Be a good girl for me. Use your words.”
His words go straight to your pussy, and you can’t help the doe eyes look in your eyes when you whimper out, “please, Issei? Wanna feel your mouth on me.”
You watch as he takes in a sharp breath, the hunger in his eyes shining through despite the dim lighting in your room. He tugs at the end of your shorts until they’re completely off, repositioning himself lower until your legs are resting around his biceps. His eyes zone in on the way a sheer layer of slick coats your lips, happy that the attention he’s been giving you has pleased you. As he shimmies down on your bed, his legs now supporting himself on the floor, he nestles himself between your legs, easily spreading your things open with his arms. Sending you a knowing smile, he blows cool air directly onto your clit, loving how your walls flutter for him.
“You’re so sensitive, baby.”
“No one’s ever made me feel like this before...want more, please?”
You look down at him with pleading eyes, your hands cupping his face when you speak. Pressing a quick peck to your hand, he hips his head down and traces your pussy lips with his tongue, savouring how you taste.
The gasp that you let out once you felt his touch was adorable. It suddenly became the sound Matsukawa will chase after the more he gets to know your body and what it likes. He takes one long lap up your pussy, stopping just before your clit and using his fingers, he spreads your lips even more. Once your clit is all exposed, he flicks it gently with the tip of his tongue, looking up at you with all the confidence in the world. Hearing your little moans make him greedy for more, for more desperate and needy sounds, so he goes to press a kiss onto your bundle of nerves. Feeling you twitch beneath him, he gently places his lips around the sensitive bud and sucks earnestly, relishing in the way you buck your hips and call out his name. After a while of pure clitoral stimulation, he leans back up to watch your eyes blink back into focus on his face, a silly dazed smile on your face.
He winks at you and sticks his tongue into your drooling hole, swirling it around to feel the walls of your pussy clench around him. His fingers dig into the flesh of your thighs as he nuzzles his nose against your clit, his cock getting unbearably hard at the way you pant our pleas.
“I-issei! Please….need you inside, please!”
Coming back up for air, his hand leaves your thigh as his fingers start to tease around your hole, loving how your pussy clenches around nothing. So needy for his touches when he’s barely even started. He knows your orgasm was building, but he wants to take his time with you. You mean the world to him, and seeing you like this already makes him feel like the luckiest man at the moment.
Taking two of his fingers, he coats them in all your slick before slowly pushing them inside you. His eyes squeeze shut when he feels how tight you are, his mind immediately thinking about how you’d feel wrapped around his cock. When he’s finally inside, he pulls out slowly before sliding them back in, loving how you beg for more.
“Need more, please, Issei! Go faster, please.”
Your hands pull his head up to kiss you while his fingers begin to speed up. With the lewd sound of his hand slapping against your sopping wet pussy, his palm is applying pressure to your clit. Your moans are lost in your kisses, his other hand going back to playing with your sensitive nipple.
“I have to stretch you out, babygirl. I don’t want my cock to hurt you.”
All you’re able to do is nod as his fingers start to scissor your hole, stretching you out even more. His fingers, now knuckle deep, curl against your sweet spot, making you grip onto his hair as he swallows all your cries, suddenly remembering that the walls in this dorm probably aren’t that thick.
His fingers curl into you more, whispering sweet praises as his hand teases and tugs on your swollen nipple. Everything happened so quick, and you’re cumming all over his hand, your sweet sticky arousal covering his fingers as he slows down. Matsukawa is smiling down at you, “you did so well, baby. Bet that felt really good, huh?”
Maybe you’re needy or just horny, but even after your orgasm, you start tugging the tie that keeps his robe up. Your legs are sore, sorer than they’ve ever been, but all you can think about is how full you would feel with him inside of you. He smirks at you as he pops his fingers into his mouth, sucking off all your juices before letting his robe fall and chucking it to the ground. He’s wearing his briefs, but you can see how hard his cock is under the thin cotton material. Before you’re able to pull his underwear down, he stops you and lets out a small chuckle. “I’m sorry, I don’t have a condom. We don’t have to do anything.”
You giggle and shake your head, “don’t need one; we’re in university, baby. What’s a little fun without risks?”
He lets you pull his underwear down, and his massive throbbing cock instantly slaps against his stomach as he laughs at your reaction. “Had to make sure you were stretched out enough.”
You bite your lips and stare at how big his cock actually is. It’s hard to imagine how you’ll fit that inside of you, but you’re determined to give it a try.
“You ready, pretty girl?” he asks as he taps the tip of cock against your clit, loving how you squirm under him.
“mmhmm, Issei.”
He lets go of his cock and leans up, and pulls you into a deep kiss, completely in awe of you.
“Tell me if you wanna stop, kay?”
Replying with a small hum, he gathers up the remaining slick that’s leaking out of your pussy and strokes his cock slowly, also letting his spit drip down to help lubricate himself. He lines himself up with your pretty pussy and starts to push the head in, studying your face to make sure you’re doing alright. When he sees you smiling back at him, despite the grip you have on his arms, he pushes another two inches inside of you.
“You’re doing so good for me, baby. We’re almost halfway,” he whispers into your ear as he kisses your neck softly, sucking on the spot by the base of your lobe. “Such a good girl for me,” he coaxes as his cock slides another inch into your sweet cunt.
Incredibly, he’s only halfway down because you’ve never felt this full before. Still, your fingers dig into his arms when you ask for more. “Just want all of you in me, please?”
Hearing you ask for more even though you already looked fucked out sparks something inside him. He lets out a low growl and quickly pushes the rest of his length inside you, mumbling sweet nothings against your skin. He moans out with you when he feels how warm and tight you are, your pussy stretching more than it ever has to accommodate his size.
“Feel s’good, Issei.”
With a breathy chuckle, he peppers kisses all over your neck, loving the sound of your soft giggles as he pulls back three-quarters of the way, slowly pushing his way back into you. The gasp you let out is different than before, much more surprised but sensual.
He continues this motion a few more times before he picks up the pace, his hips slamming against you while your tits bounce. Each thrust knocks the air out of your chest cause he’s brushing against your spot every time. Matsukawa leans down and presses his forehead against the crook of your neck, muttering how good you feel.
“F-faster...need you faster, is’o good, please.”
Obliging to your pleas, he starts to rut his hips into yours, the sound of his balls slapping against your skin with each movement. He looks up to see your dreamy eyes and smiles. He knows there’s not a thought behind those eyes right now as his cock slams against your walls with each thrust. He goes to kiss you again, silencing your cries as your nails drag down his arms, trying to ground yourself in the midst of all the pleasure.
“You’re s-tight baby I- fuuuuuck, I can barely move.”
You can’t help it. Your walls are naturally squeezing him because he’s fucking straight into your sweet spot with each snap of his hips. You look at him with hazy eyes, entirely in a trance as you moan out his name. He can tell you want to cum, so his hand reaches down to rub your clit as his cock continues to pound into you.
“C’mon baby, cum all over my cock. You can do it...ah shit, yea, just like that.”
He’s been trying so hard not to cum but watching your back arch into him as your nails drab down his back, his name falling out from your lips in a loud erotic moan, is making it really hard. He looks down in surprise when he sees a creamy white rim around his cock, proud of himself for making you cream.
“Good girl...that’s my fuckin girl.”
Satisfied he made you finish, his head falls back onto your shoulder, his hips just rutting into you as he chases his own orgasm. Not even a minute later, he’s calling out for you as he quickly pulls out, cumming all over your tits. His chest heaves along with yours, his hair sticking to his forehead slightly as he empties his load all over your chest.
Once you’ve both calmed down a little bit, he smiles down at you and goes to stroke your cheek. “Had you creaming on my cock, was it fun? Did you have a good time?”
“S’good...thank you, baby,” you say before pulling him down for a kiss.
He gets up and reaches for his robe, “you did so good, took me like a champ heh. I’ll be back with a rag to clean you up, okay? Don’t move.”
As he leaves your room, you stare up at the ceiling and let out a laugh. Not even twelve hours ago, you were cursing the fact that he was here with you, and now you have his cum all over your tiddies as he goes to get stuff to clean you up.
You watch as he comes back into your room, fully changed with a rag in his hand. He kneels beside you and pets your hair as he starts to wipe his mess.
“Why’re you changed?”
“Oh! We’re going to 7-11 once I get you cleaned up.”
“.....it’s like three-thirty in the morning.”
“I’ll get you taquitos and Arizona,” he says as he goes to wipe around your pussy, mindful not to put too much pressure cause you’re still sensitive.
“And skittles?”
He snorts and kisses your shaking thigh, “yea, I’ll get you skittles, brat.”

Picture the scene, its Ethan not Diana, who is caught up in the senator attack. What changes from canon? Does she tell him she loves him?
Hi anon! I am so sorry it took me so long, but I turned this into a fic, because I felt I could explain it better this way, I hope you don't mind ❤
HIRAETH
Book : Open Heart book 2
Pairing : Ethan Ramsey x Diana Ramirez
Notable Characters : Sienna Trinh, Rafael Aveiro
Word Count : 960 words
Rating : General
Category : Angst with happy ending, AU
Trope : One of them has an illness, And there is a confession
Warning : Mention of character death.
Summary : An alternate turn of events during the maitotoxin attack seen through four different eyes.
A/N : I have a very particular timeline (with dates) for all events in the Oph universe and therefore this is completely an AU.
Tumblr media
Rafael
A million things play in his head as he crosses the seventh floor.
Brazil. Sora. The suspension letter he couldn't show his Vovo. His friends. Sienna's tear stained eyes, the smile falling from Elijah's face, Jackie slowly turning away her head. Diana's crestfallen expression. The life he was leaving behind.
He has only two last people to bid goodbye to.
Ethan and Bryce.
Two unexpected friendships.
A doctor, A surgeon and a paramedic….. well ex-paramedic, he thinks bitterly.
When he meets Ethan it's far from how he had expected it to go. He barely hears his instruction to alert security as he runs beside him to catch up to his frantic footfalls. And then it's pandemonium.
The crazed eyes of a killer.
The pleas of a politician.
A black cannister.
A single shove.
Silence.
….
Somewhere in his poison addled brain he hears a plane taking off towards an adventure that stay unattainable to dying men.
Tumblr media
Ethan
He had stopped praying when he was twelve and his mother hadn't returned from the grocery store for thirteen months.
He had come close to it that night in Miami. He had sent a fervent prayer to her as their lips had drowned in each other under the endless expanse of stars above them.
His lips had formed yet another the night after her hearing.
Somehow prayers had become equivalent to her. Diana's touch and the swirling brown that turned obsidian under the single sliver of moonlight that had fallen in the room.
And today he sent another as Naveen had to stop her from entering the room, from breathing the same nameless poison that ran in his veins.
As tears pooled in those clear twinkling browns, he thought of things he never told her. Things he would never tell her again.
He needed to tell her that he was sorry.
That he shouldn't have pushed her away.
That he wouldn't be his mother who left without explanations.
That he cared― no loved her beyond what his cowardly heart could comprehend.
He needed to give her the lunchbox of food cooked together that he kept in his desk.
As he sunk down the glass door of the room, his feet too weak to hold him any longer, he thought only of her and the words he wanted to tell her.
She's a poet's last poem of the words he couldn't say.
Tumblr media
Sienna
When she was young her grandmother read her fairytales. They all ended in happily ever-afters, With the prince marrying the princess and the evil witches killed in rainstorms.
And young-her would dream of such tales.
As they led Danny away, she thinks perhaps she wasn't meant for fairy tales.
But she knows someone who still has a chance at it. Someone who is currently staring down the most powerful man in Boston.
Someone who refuses to back away without learning the location of Travis.
And in that moment she decides one of them would get the happy ending she so craved. Mirroring Diana from when she stood by her side rebuking Wayne, Sienna does what she does the best, smiles and tells the Senator exactly what he wants to hear.
Tumblr media
Diana
She now knows how he had felt when Naveen was dying.
How she couldn't save the ones who mattered, not Mrs. Martinez, not Danny, not Rafael and not Ethan.
Her fingers are stained in chemicals, a broken nail from when she had punched the wall and a dozen crumpled papers littered the lab. Stained with words she couldn't even read through the haze of her tears.
It is now that she truly feels out of her depth, like a child playing a game of pretend. Her shaking hand measuring yet another probable antidote reminds her of all the things she hasn't learned. All the things he needs to teach her since the day he steadied her shaking scalpel.
She needs him to tell her what to do.
She needs her mentor.
She needs him.
….
That night they hold each other through the distance of a hazmat suit. And she doesn't know who comforts the other.
That night she tells him things.
She tells him about the three sleepless nights when she was eighteen, reading his book for the first time.
She tells him about his grey sweater at the back of her closet.
She tells him about her family, about childhood holidays.
She tells him about the replacement cactus she bought him that currently grows on her windowsill.
And all along three words run in her head and heart and her entire being.
Three words she clings to with a hope of them seeing another morning together. In a future where he holds her hand in the dark and they trade lazy kisses in early mornings.
And slowly she drifts off to sleep in his arms.
…..
She is once again in the lab as he watches the last marker of toxin washing away from the sampled blood.
Something like hope fights to rush out of her restrained realism.
Diana has always processed things in numbers. Always calculating the order of occurrences.
When she tells him about the success of the antidote, the first thing he does is walk towards her, his steps a little dazed, in battle with his restraint. The second thing he does is ask about Raf. The third thing he does is hug her, hold her so closely that they both forget the plastic barrier that was between them a few hours ago.
The forth thing he does is whisper three words over and over, in a broken prayer and a whispered wish….
I love you…. Once, I love you….. Twice, I love you….. Thrice, I love you....
And that's when she stops counting and whispers back the words.
Tumblr media
A/N : As it can be seen I write one fic then I vanish from the face of the earth and I am really sorry for that. I still have engineering entrances till July end, but I'll try and be more active after that.

The Letter Box
Tumblr media
Love & Letter: To The Thirteen Boys I've Loved Before
Inspired by: To All The Boys I've Love Before by Jenny Han
The letters are written in first person and I will not be continuing this mini series (meaning that I won't make a particular storyline like the movie & book) since the main purpose of it is the letters.
The pictures that are added along with the letters have almost no relevance to the letter itself
-----------------
Arriving at the old house, you smiled, holding a box in your hands. Now that your father had passed away from sickness, the house had fallen into your hands. It was perfect timing too, as you needed a place to stay.
Upon entering the house, memories flooded your mind. The scent still hadn't changed and though the furniture got a bit dusty, it was fine.
The first place you went was your room, across the living room and hallway, beside the bathroom.
Everything was frozen in time. Ever since you moved out into an apartment to live a bit closer to your workplace, your father promised not to touch your room. You smiled, thankful that he kept his word.
You set the box of your belongings down on the ground and sat on the bed. He didn't even bother to clean the room, did he?
The pastel pink blankets were dusty and the large window across from your bed had it's dark blue curtains drawn.
Before you could settle in, you had to clean up the room, obviously. So, you started looking around, in your night table drawers, under your bed, etc.
When rummaging inside your closet, you come upon a a small box. It was bright yellow and had a bunch of different stickers applied on it's sides. The box was a perfect square.
As you lifted the lid of the square box, a smile appeared on your face as the memories slowly came back. You looked at the box with fascination, remembering the memories that came along with it.
It's a box filled with letters. Not just any kind of letters, special ones. It's a box to all the boys you've loved before.
You didn't send those letters, quite obviously, because it's about the people you've been in love with, but that doesn't mean they love you back. Of course, maybe some of them did love you back. Even so, who mails the person they've been in love with their love letter?
Anyway, this was a box of letters containing the memories for each boy you've ever grown a strong passion, fondness, and overall love for. Love was hard to explain in words. You just knew that you love them back then.
There were thirteen letters.
Thirteen letters stuck in this box.
Thirteen letters frozen in time.
Thirteen letters of your thirteen love stories.
-----------------
THE FIRST LETTER: Choi Seungcheol
A letter to your first love, Choi Seungcheol, who has gone to the same school as you ever since you two were kids. You two live a block across from each other and go to the same bus stop. He seems to be protective of you but at the same time not.
THE SECOND LETTER: Yoon Jeonghan
During your freshman year in high school, you meet a guy named Yoon Jeonghan, who plays basketball, is mischievous, and seems to be showing romantic interest in you. He suddenly disappears and you decide to write a confession letter to him.
THE THIRD LETTER: Hong Jisoo/Joshua
You begin to fall in love with your caring, sweet, and gentle new neighbor but upon overhearing him tell his friend that he doesn't like you romantically, you decide to write him a letter and end your romantic feelings.
THE FOURTH LETTER: Wen Junhui
This is a letter to reminisce and thank your first boyfriend, Jun. You write this letter expressing how thankful you were to have a great, loving, caring, and sweet boyfriend like him by your side, until you two broke up due to him having to leave.
The FIFTH LETTER: Kwon Soonyoung
You liked Soonyoung but most of all, you're grateful to him. You write a letter expressing your thanks toward him for being so caring and helping you become a dancer, as well as a confession about your feelings.
THE SIXTH LETTER: Lee Jihoon
You meet Jihoon in your tech audio class and he helps teach you about music. You two are slowly getting closer but Jihoon's friend leaks that he likes you to your friends. Your friends tease you two excessively, causing you two to drift apart.
THE SEVENTH LETTER: Jeon Wonwoo
Wonwoo meets you in the town's book club and sees you after school in the local library. You two fall in love and he's a warm, comforting, and loving boyfriend, but sometimes you can't help but feel that he's hiding his true self. This doesn't matter to you though because the memories you two had were enough to hold on to.
THE EIGHTH LETTER: Xu Minghao
You fall in love with a friend you meet in college after being away from love for a while. You don't realize that you were too ahead of yourself. Then, you realize that you mistook his friendly hangouts and gestures. He friend-zones you.
THE NINTH LETTER: Kim Mingyu
You take a part-time job at a cafe to make money for yourself and your father, who's in the hospital. You fall in love with Kim Mingyu, one of your senior coworkers, but decide to break up with him because you don't want your problems to become a burden.
THE TENTH LETTER: Lee Seokmin
After your breakup, you begin having an even harder time than you imagined. However, one day, you hear a beautiful voice from a beautiful man. You two fall in love and begin dating. He's sweet, lovely, warm, and like your healer, his name is Seokmin, and his dream is to sing.
THE ELEVENTH LETTER: Boo Seungkwan
Seungkwan is a regular at the cafe you work at. He always makes you laugh with his jokes. You two grow a bit closer but because you want to focus on your studies, you reject his confession. You begin to realize your feelings, but you don't confess because of the terrible, unlucky timing.
THE TWELFTH LETTER: Vernon Chwe
On your last year of graduate school, you meet Vernon, who saves you from getting hit by a bike. To repay him, you two start hanging out around each other. You two find each other as a source of comfort and are able to tell each other your insecurities, becoming good friends.
THE THIRTEENTH LETTER: Lee Chan
After graduating from grad school, you meet Lee Chan in a dance club and fall head over heels for him. You two begin dating and develop a summer romance but it seems more physical than actual love. After summer, he ghosts you, and you don't know why.

a/n: So while watching a book recommendation video, I came across To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han and when I heard of the plot involving letters, I was inspired to create this! I'll put off requests for a bit to complete this mini series and put my creative writing abilities to the test. This mini series is sort of for myself I feel like.
+ get better, feel better, healthier, recover steadily, sending my best wishes to Minghao & S.coups!

Make Up Sex (Smut)-Fred Weasley x Reader
Prompt 35 for Anon-Where did this attitude come from // With Fred Weasley (Prompt in bold)
Prompt List Requests  / 1.3k Writing Celebration Masterlist /  Harry Potter Era Masterlist
Warnings: Smut, slight degradation (if that’s not your thing don’t read below the cut)
I’m also gonna use this as my seventh entry to @girl-next-door-writes bingo challenge, I hope you enjoy!

Three weeks. That’s how long it had been since Fred broke up with me. Since he broke my heart. Our relationship had been hard, not because of us but because of everyone around us. At first it was just stupid things, like people saying that we’d never work because I’m a Slytherin and he’s a Gryffindor but as time went on, I began to hear rumours about him and Angelina. I tried my best to ignore them, to just brush off their comments..but sometimes it was hard to believe...When I would see them together, they just seemed to fit. Like they were soulmates. And just like that, I felt myself distancing from him...and when I did go to ask him about the rumours...he broke up with me. That was enough to show me that the rumours clearly weren’t just rumours, that everything I’d been told was true. And I’d spent the last three weeks successfully avoiding him. Until now. Professor Flitwick decided to pair us up for a Charms project, I’d tried talking to him before class asking to change partners but Flitwick wasn’t budging on his decision. Which leads me to my current situation, being sat in the library with my ex who I was still head over heels in love with.
”So...Um...how’ve you been?,” Fred asked, attempting to break the awkward silence and tension that was between us. I mentally cursed myself for how I clenched my thighs together with every word he speaks. I was angry. I was hurt. And I was so sexually frustrated it was driving me insane. There was no one like Fred, no lover that could live up to him...that could make me feel the way he did.
“Absolutely terrific, thanks,” I replied bluntly, not lifting my eyes away from the book I was pretending to read.
“Yeah,well that’s...that’s good,” Fred said with a small smile.
“Isn’t it just,” I quipped back sarcastically, feeling the need to slap him and kiss him at the same time.
I noticed Fred eyebrow rise at the harshness of my tone "Where did this attitude come from?” he asked, shutting his book and focusing his eyes on me.
“What did you expect? For things between us to be okay?” I don’t know what it was that made me snap, maybe it was the fact like he was acting like nothing had happened and he didn’t break my heart or maybe it was the fact that I was still mad at myself for feeling the way I did about him, either way, I snapped.
“I..I don’t know...I just wasn’t expecting things to be like this,” He stuttered out, eyes wide in shock. I’d never snapped at him like that before.
“Like what, Fred?” I sighed running a hand through my hair in frustration, “You broke my heart, I’m sorry I can’t just act like it didn’t happen” I finished, grabbing my other books and making my way out of the library, ignoring Fred pleas to stay. But then he grabbed my arm and I felt my heart race begin to quicken at his touch. I could’ve just walked off like I’d planned to but I couldn’t...I don't’ know why, but I couldn't
“..I broke your heart?” He asked quietly, sounding genuinely shocked, but that only made my anger grow.
Of course he broke my heart.
“Of course you did!” I whisper shouted, pulling my arm away from his hand, attempting once again to leave the library but once again I was stopped. It wasn’t through Fred's actions instead it was his words, “But you acted like it didn’t even bother you.”
“I was devastated, Fred, just because I didn’t break down in tears in front of you doesn’t mean it didn’t crush me,” I said finally meeting his gaze, desperately trying to keep myself together.
“I...I’m sorry, I thought...I thought you didn’t want to be with me..”
“Why..why would you think that..?” I asked, my tone calmer than before noticing  the sadness in his eyes as he walked closer towards me, rubbing the back of his neck while his eyes darted from mine.
“Because...you were just so distant...I didn’t think you were happy with me...I broke up with you so you could be happy with someone…even if that person wasn’t me,” he admitted, his words cutting me like a dagger. I had no idea how to respond to that...he thought I didn't want to be with him...that I would be happier with someone else...there was no one else in the world that would make me as happy as Fred.
“I was distant because I thought you didn’t want to be with me...I heard the rumours about you and Angelina and how much time you were spending with each other ...but I couldn’t...I couldn’t break up with you….so I just...” I attempted to explain, my voice trailing off at the end as I tried to not break down in front of him.
“She’s my friend, she was just giving me advice on how to make you happy….when I said I broke up with you she nearly hexed me…she told me I was making the biggest mistake of my life ...and she was right” I looked up at him in shock, realising just how close we were now.
“Breaking up with you was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done and I’ve regretted it ever since I’ve done it….”
“Fred..” I breathed shakily, wanting to do nothing except kiss him.
“I mean it y/n/n….I miss you..so fucking much..” He whispered, his eyes darting between my eyes and my lips.
“Show me…”I mumbled, nervously moving closer towards him.
“What?”
“Show me how much you’ve missed me…” I repeated, glancing down at his lips as his hands raised to my face, caressing my cheeks.
“Are you sure you want this…..because if I start kissing you..I don’t think I’ll be able to stop,” he breathed against my lips.
“Then don’t stop,” and with that he crashed his lips onto mine.
~~~~~~~
We wasted no time in rushing up to his dorm room. Before I could do anything, Fred captured my lips again in another passionate kiss, wasting no time in taking each and every item of clothing off my body. He pushed me back on to the bed, quickly taking off his shirt and trousers before locking lips with me again. The kiss was full of all the passion and desperation we’d both been feeling, I couldn’t help but moan slightly as I felt his bulge continue to grow.
“Oh I know that look,” Fred grinned in satisfaction, knowing exactly what the look that was dancing in my y/e/c eyes meant. He knew me all too well, part of me hated it but in times like this, I absolutely loved it because he knew what I needed. He knew how desperately I needed him. His fingers traced my exposed body, all the places that his fingers touched made my skin burn with an aching desire for more. I’d tried so hard to forget this feeling, this feeling that only he could give me...no one else could make me feel like this. I didn’t crave anyone in the way I craved him. His touch. His lips. The feeling of him inside me. And it all felt right, like it was meant to be.
“You’re such a needy little slut, aren’t you, princess, so desperate for my cock,” His hands ran down my bare thighs as he said those words,  squeezing them softly before placing delicate kisses on the inside of my thighs. The action made me ache with desire even more, I could feel myself getting wetter by the second as I imagined the feeling of his huge cock inside me.
Fuck I needed him.
I needed him like I needed oxygen.
“How much did you miss it?” He asked, pressing a trail of kisses down my chest while he pressed himself into me. I felt myself go giddy when I felt how hard his cock was, even if it was through his boxers.
“So...so much,.sir..please..”
“Please? Please what? What do you want?”
“I want you to fuck me, sir,” I panted, I needed
“I will,” he whispered, kissing up and down the inside of my thigh, before hovering over my pussy, a triumphant smile coming across his face. He’d barely even touched me and my pussy was already soaked
“Just not yet,” he said, placing a delicate kiss on my clit before moving off of the bed. I couldn’t help but whine in frustration, that kiss on my clit was nearly enough to make me explode. He knew what he was doing. Teasing me. That was something that Fred loved to do to me, he loved to tease me to the point of insanity, until I was an absolute mess.
“Get on your knees, princess,” he ordered. An order which I obviously obeyed, moving off of the silk sheets onto the cold floor. The sudden coolness on my hot body only seemed to add to my pleasure.
Quickly he stepped out of his boxers, finally freeing his large cock. Another smirk came over his face as his eyes looked down at me. I could feel myself practically drooling at the sight of it; I’d forgotten just how big he was.
“You ready to take my cock, like the good little cock whore you are?”
“Yes sir,” I answered, nodding eagerly, before placing my lips around the tip of his hardened length, the salty taste of his pre cum dancing on my taste buds.
“Good girl,” he groaned in pleasure, his soft hands running through my y/c/h locks, lightly pushing my head forward,  “That’s it take it all in,” he cooed as I relaxed my throat, feeling his shaft fill my entire mouth. I couldn’t help but moan as I bobbed my head up and down his length, slow at first but building in speed as the time went on.
“Fuck your mouth feels so good, princess,” he moaned, I glanced up at him quickly to see he’d thrown his head back in pure pleasure, his eyes shut as he began to move his hips, fucking my mouth in the best way possible.
“Always such a good little cock slut for me, sucking my cock like a pro, princess,” he praised, tangling his hands in my hair as his thrusts became more frantic, my tongue tracing the full length of his cock with each thrust bringing him closer to the release he was so craving.
“Fuck, princess, if you carry on doing that I’m not gonna last much longer,” I couldn’t help but moan at his words, knowing the effect I had on him turned me on even more.
I continued to bob my head up and down on his length, matching the timing of his thrusts, both of us increasing to an erratic speed, “Fuck..I’m gonna..I’m gonna” Fred began breathily but before he had chance to finish his sentence he explodes in my mouth. Fred’s ragged moans echoed around the room as streams of his thick white cum filled my mouth, I did my best to swallow every single drop of it.
“Fuck…”he panted, pulling his cock out of my mouth with a smile, his hands releasing my hair and moving to my face.
“Such a good little slut for me aren’t you, princess," he continued, wiping away some of the cum that had escaped my mouth.
“Always, sir, only for you,” I beamed, leaning into his touch as much as I could.
 “Good girl,” his praises made my arousal grow even more, it was almost overwhelming. I let out a small squeal as Fed bent down, picking me up off of the floor, placing me back on the soft silk sheets.
“Think I should reward you for being such a good girl?” He asked, pressing featherlight kisses against my neck as his hands squeezed my breasts lightly.
“Yes...yes sir...pl...please,” I begged, melting into his touch; desperate for him to touch me in the place I craved him the most. As if reading my mind one of his hands wandered down my body, tapping my clit lightly making me squirm in the bed, aching for more.
“I love seeing you like this, so helpless and desperate.” He whispered lustfully, lightly stroking my needy pussy. He moved slightly, so he was back between my legs again, still teasing my core.
“What do you want, princess, use your words,”
“I want...I want you to make me cum...please sir..please…”I pleaded, the desperation clear in my voice. I loved it when Fred teased me, don’t get me wrong, but after so long of not having him, I couldn’t wait any longer. I needed him to do something to make me cum.
“Your wish is my command,” and with that his tongue dived into my pussy, lapping up all of the juices of my arousal.
“Shit, princess, I almost forgot how good you tasted,” he whispered against my slit, before diving back in.
“Fu...fuck…” I moaned, biting down on my lower lip to contain the loud noises that threatened to slip out of my mouth.
“Don't do that” Fred warned, his lusty brown eyes locking onto mine.
“I want everyone to know what a whore you are for me, want everyone to hear you screaming my name,” he whispered, blowing a breath of cool air against my pussy, his thumb circling my clit while his fingers teased my entrance, my pussy clenching in anticipation, desperate to feel his fingers deep inside me. It was the only thing I could think about, feeling his fingers and cock deep inside of me hitting all the spots that only he could reach. Before another plea could leave my lips he inserted his long digits into my aching core. All I could do was moan loudly in response as his fingers curled inside me, repeatedly hitting my g-spot. While his tongue continued to dance over my aching clit. I couldn’t think clearly, my head was spinning, unable to think of anything else other than euphoric feeling. I couldn’t talk, couldn’t move, couldn’t do anything except lay in this blissful pleasure. I knew I was close when I felt my pussy beginning to pulsate around his fingers, I desperately tried to chase my high and just as I was about to come undone, he stopped.
“N..no...sir...please-“I whined but before I could finish my sentence Fred raised his eyebrows at me. I knew that was the moment I needed to shut up, no matter how much I needed him.
“Such a naughty little slut…” he taunted, that all too familiar smirk gracing his lips as he pressed the head of his hardened length at my entrance.
“I don’t know if you deserve this….do you think you do?”
“Yes….please sir...please...I’ll be good, I’ll be good, please,” I begged, rolling my hips slightly to try and get some form of contact.
“You say you’ll be good but then you act like this,”
He whispered, placing his hands on my hips, stopping them from moving and getting any form of contact with his large member.
“Good girls don’t act like such needy whores,”
“But I think you’ve earned it,” and in one sudden movement he pushed his cock into me, I couldn’t help but let out a guttural moan as the intense feeling of him inside me took over...a feeling that had only been a thing of my dreams lately. I wrapped my legs around his waist, pulling him closer into me as my hands scratched down his back, both of us letting out a loud moan as his thrusts got faster and faster. There was no other feeling like this. It was the best feeling in the world, nothing ever came close. I was right on the edge, and by how frantic Fred’s thrusts were, I knew he was too.
“I’m...I’m gonna..” I tried to stutter out, but my mind was too lost in pleasure to be able to actually string a sentence together.
“I know, princess, I’ve got you,” he cooed, placing a short yet passionate kiss to your swollen lips.
“Cum for me,,” he breathed against my lips and that was it. That was all I needed to send me hurtling over the edge into the most intense and pleasurable orgasm I’d ever had, a long sultry moan echoing around the room as Fred continued to thrust into me before reaching his own high.
Once we both caught our breath, Fred pulled out of me, and moved so he was sitting next to me. Instantly I snuggled into his chest as one arm wrapped me, while the other grabbed his duvet, covering both of us.
“I love you y/n/n,” He whispered, pressing a delicate kiss to forehead. I drowsily leant up and kissed him sweetly on the cheek.
“I love you too, Freddie,” I whispered back as I snuggled back into his chest. He loved me and I loved him, that was all that mattered. So what if I was a Slytherin and he was Gryffindor, we loved each other and anything else was irrelevant.
Venus Rx and Fated Relationships
Is it possible you could meet your future spouse during a retrograde?
Tumblr media
A retrograde is when a planet reverses its motion—it moves backwards. Depending on the planet, retrogrades can last anywhere from 30 days to ~6 months. Venus goes retrograde approx every 18 months. Venus is the closest planet to Earth. In a world filled with hopeless romantics and love being the goal of life, when Venus goes retrograde, the effects are felt heavily.
Venus retrograde is a time when we are called to reassess ourselves in terms of “Venusian” things. These “things” revolve around love (internal or external), relationships, values, finances, pleasures, etc.
Because Venus is widely known as the planet of “love” it is no surprise that many people get into relationships when the planet goes retrograde. We’ve heard of exes coming back during Mercury retrograde to get closure (revising communication), but what about going back to people from past lives? Because retrogrades revisit the path a planet was once on, we do the same here on Earth. During this time, many people find themselves in relationships—specifically, “fated” relationships.
At the most basic level, our goal on this Earth is to procreate, carry on our lineage, and achieve happiness in some shape or form. The primary way of life goes: fall in love, have kids, and strengthen our family line. You hear songs about love on the radio, you see it in movies, shows, books, poetry; Love has been an emotion untouched since the beginning of time, so much that the idea of a “soulmate” is popular in pop culture and worldwide. Since astrology has gained popularity over the years, so has the term “twin flame”. A twin flame is essentially the idea that you are the half of somebody else’s soul, resulting in a star crossed lovers tale like Romeo and Juliet (with or without the suicide). In astrology, it has been proven that you can see karmic connections via synastry between two individuals—whether that’s two friends, an employee and boss, or a mother and child. However, in this post, I want to focus on the karmic connection between two people in the romantic aspect.
NOTE: I do NOT condone or support concept of twin flames for many reasons. This post is in no way shape or form about twin flames, saying the persons in this post are twin flames, or saying that you will meet your twin flame during Venus Rx.
Over the years, I have noticed that many people find a long-term partner, or even their spouse during Venus retrograde, in this thread I want to focus on one couple, in particular, that seems to prove the theory to be true:
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid.
Tumblr media
August 9th, 2015
Venus, Uranus, and Jupiter were all trine each other at this time. Indicating an abundance of out of the blue fated connections and relationships.
There’s no denying that Zayn and Gigi are pretty much in “soulmate” territory. Despite breaks and breakups, they’ve amounted a total of 5 years together. Five years ago, when Zayn and Gigi first met, the planet Venus was in retrograde, which Zayn actually mentions in his song cruel:
Venus in converse, you put a spell on me
Tumblr media
Converse: a situation, object, or statement that is the reverse of another or corresponds to it but with certain terms transposed.
Zayn and Gigi met at Kylie Jenner’s birthday party, on August 9th, 2015. The song Cruel is about meeting somebody at a party and feeling a spark. Put two and two together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When looking at Gigi’s chart, Jupiter was transiting her 5th house with a pretty tight conjunction to Venus (3 degrees separation) in the sign of Leo meaning that Venus and Jupiter were in an exact conjunction that Summer.
Leo is ruled by the Sun, the center of our universe, the Sun shines down on humanity and makes everything beautiful. Leo is home to the 5th house.
The 5th house is the house of relationships, sex, children, parties, creativity, and joys. Speaking of Joys—Venus’ joy is in the 5th house, meaning that this is an extremely favourable place for Venus to be (side note, Zayn had a planetary joy transit himself during this time. His moon was transiting his 3rd house and 3H Moon represents the Goddess.) She enjoys being in the 5th house, as she can utilize everything on the table in that room of the house.
Moreover, Jupiter, at the utmost basic level, has to deal with abundance. Jupiter being in the 5th house is favorable because the sign Jupiter rules (Pisces) is the sign Venus is exalted in. That said, Venus conjunct Jupiter in the sign of Leo equals an overflowing abundance of Venusian energy. It should also be noted that Jupiter rules a woman's husband in the birth chart. At this time, Gigi was in a VERY FAVORABLE position to meet her potential spouse. Moreover, when Jupiter crosses one’s 5th house, this indicates that a woman could meet her husband.
Tumblr media
“Whenever Jupiter and the lord of 7th house transits the first or ninth house this is more indicative of things like Marriage commitment, deeper and strong relationships. And if Venus or Jupiter itself rule these houses then it is a double significant of relationships.“
Lord of Gigi’s 7H: Mars & Pluto
Mars was transiting her 4H, ready to cross over to her 5th
Pluto was transiting her 9H
“The seventh house represents connecting with others in a physical bonding and 9th house represents long term relationship.”
Tumblr media
Now, remember when I said the Moon was transiting Zayn’s third house? The Moon changes signs every 2-2.5 days, so this transit came and went, but it was extremely fitting for the moment. The Moon was in Gemini, the sign of communication.
The 5th house is the house of relationships, sex, children, parties, creativity, and joys.
Where did Zayn and Gigi meet? What happens at parties?
Tumblr media
Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury (Gemini’s planetary ruler) were in a nice conjunction during this time. The Moon was also making a few aspects to Zayn’s natal Moon that day.
Moon in aspect with his Venus in the 1st house (opposite of the seventh house, house of long term relationships) within 1 degree of each other. Venus signifies ones girlfriend or wife in the natal chart.
Moon in aspect with his Jupiter in the 7th house (opposite of first house, house of self and the physical body)
“The ascendant represents the body in the individual of the person who wants the relationship.”
Another thing to note is the planet Uranus. Uranus is an outer planet known for causing upheaval and out-of-the-blue events. During this time, Uranus was transiting Zayn’s 1st house of self. Another thing to consider is his natal 7H Jupiter sextiling Uranus transiting his 1H, which means positive, but abrupt change in relationships.
“This is a good time to tackle difficult tasks that have caused frustration or limitations in the past.” Venus Rx tends to bring people into your life who you’ve had a “past life” connection with.
Because of Uranus’ influence, Zayn’s life was a bit all over the place, so he found himself in a more adventurous state. Because his 11H (the 11H is responsible for social circles) Sun and transiting 1H Uranus were in a square aspect within 2 degrees, That said, Zayn was meeting new people and doing new things with said new people.
Tumblr media
We got such a spiritual connection...
Zayn and Gigi are a great example of proving Venus Rx to be a time for cuffing szn. Despite having breaks and breakups, they’ve always found their way back to each other.
I’ve spoken to many other people to have met their partners during Venus retrograde, and almost all of them say it’s like a spark. They feel an automatic deep sense of familiarity with their partner, saying it’s like a spiritual connection.
Zayn is always singing about Gigi and him having this spiritual, fated, and past life connection:
     I been feeling high when I touch your body     That's how I feel the soul inside her body
       — Flight of the Stars (2018)
  Think I'm from space, my soul fell down   I found the Earth, not leaving now   I know your face, think you fell too   And ain't no place now, if I got you
      — If I Got You (2018)
We got such a spiritual connection, Don't you know you're fuckin' beautiful?
     — Common (2018)
I found my life in between shots and getting high The cage I was in fell away when she asked me to dance again I found my life in between a first kiss and a last goodbye
    — BRIGHT (2016)
Girl we'd still make it If the planets all faded away
    — Imprint (2018)
I know I seen your face In different times and places
....
We can be Something divine, planets align where we should be
   — Talk to Me (2018)
Tumblr media
With all being said, I think it’s safe to say if you’re looking for love, lookout for the next Venus retrograde (or look for 5th, 7th, or 9th house transits). Sometimes the universe throws somebody in your path and it’s fated. While Zayn and Gigi are an example in the media, I’ve seen it happen numerous times with everyday people. While some find their exes coming back around for a second try, or end up in murky karmic relationships, for the most part: Venus Rx seems to be a good place to start if you’re looking.
Venus retrograde does not always mean things will work out because retrogrades are here to reassess things we did not master in the past. But love is all about taking chances. So take your chance, and have fun. Soul mates do exist, and you may end up finding the one.
Chapter 2: click here
Tumblr media
"If there's anyone who will understand her, it's you. So I'll leave her to you..."
"Don't touch me, you monster!"
Chapter 3
*scribbles scribbles*
" ...I could never forgive myself for what happened."
*scribbles scribbles*
"Let's just say that a drive to protect MC and a drive to live are two different things. And I've been searching for the latter to no avail." Lucifer sighs from the lack of focus on his work. Her words replays on his thoughts countless of times already. He couldn't seem to take her off his mind this past few days.
Since that morning, she acts like her usual self. It is a good thing. It is a good thing that his forceful interrogation didn't cause trouble.
He shouldn't bother dwelling on it anymore. He shouldn't be, but... Acting like nothing happened is far more disturbing... He combs his fingers through his locks, deep in thought.
"...fer... Lucifer!" A sensation on his shoulder brought him back to reality. "Are you okay?" His orbs, traces the hand atop his shoulder to the aquamarine eyes, observing him.
"...No, it's nothing. I was just thinking about something." He massaged between his brows.
"You should rest if your tired." Her worry shows between her brows.
"I'll finish this. We're almost done anyways... More importantly, do you have any concerns?"
"Ahh, I already finished my part. Please do check it." He picked up the papers she gave. Despite what happened, she actually continued helping him with his works, which made everything easier.
"Hmm, you did well. You may leave now. I'll take a break once I'm done."
"Then, how about having a tea? I prepared some cookies a while ago." She placed her palms atop his desk, as if persuading him.
"Cookies?"
"Yeah, as an apology and thank you gift." A light shade of pink tinted her cheek for a second didn't went unnoticed by the demon.
"Huh? Did you do something I'll get angry for once?"
"I just felt bad I doubt you when we first met. I even tied you with me in a pact. And I'm glad you and your brothers are there to keep my sister safe. Thank you." She smiled at him sincerely. The one he could only see her flash for her sibling.
"That's fine by me."
"Then, I'll be waiting by the garden." Once a thud of the door was heard in the room, another sigh escaped his lips.
It's reasonable she's always on my mind, I've been spending more time with her after all. And I have less work to worry about that she took over its spot... Propping his forehead on his clasped knuckles, he tried to make sense of his current sentiments.
"... Let's get this all done or the tea might get cold." He moves his hands to work faster. Spending a bit more time alone with her is not so bad anyways...
-----
Spending time alone with her is not the right term. As soon as he arrives at the garden, the rowdy bunch was already in there, surrounding a sizable table.
"Alexandria, I see you didn't inform me that everyone will be here." With twitching eyebrow, he held the teacup to his lips, trying to ignore the crunching and chattering noise.
"But I did say I want to thank you and your brothers so it's only natural that they are here." She casually sip on hers, sitting adjacent to the eldest.
"Alexa *crunch crunch* your cookies is *crunch crunch* so good." Beel grins beside her as he stuff his face with his share of cookies.
She shook her head. "I wouldn't say it's my cookies. MC and Luke also made that."
"But most of it is made by you. And we just followed your recipe." MC contradicts before stuffing a whole cookie in her mouth.
"Well, that's true... Oh, Beel, try this one. This is my favorite." She extended out a cookie cream tart towards him. Having both of his hands full of cookies, Beel ate directly off her finger.
"Hmm~!" Alexandria giggled from the blissful face the orange demon is making. "Your face is full of crumbs." She proceed wiping his cheeks with her handkerchief.
"..." Feeling as if two ominous orbs bore behind her skull she glanced back, confirming her suspicion. He's angry...
"Uhh, Lucifer. Here, have some more." She filled his empty plate with cookie cream tarts. He gaze at the plate before looking back at her.
"I'm good." Yeah... He's angry... I guess thanking him with everyone is a wrong move. I have graver offense to him than others after all.
"Ahh! How about some eclairs? I can make you one right now." She learned his preference a few days ago when he made a big fuss of Mammon eating his eclairs, and tried coaxing him to a good mood.
He stared at him for moment before replying, "Make it some other time." Coaxing failed... "It'll be made for me alone." ...or maybe not. She smiled.
"Hmph... Selfish demon." The seventh-born huffs.
"Are you saying something, Belphegor?" The eldest and the youngest brother glared daggers.
"Now, now... The tea will turn sour." Alexandria tried settling the tense atmosphere she just mended before it get worse.
"By the way Alexa, MC, they released the anime adaptation of 'The Great Detective from the Pits of the Underworld' today! Let's watch it after this." Amidst sitting beside the growling Belphegor, sparkles filled Leviathan's background as he enthusiastically spoke.
"No, Alexa is coming with me. She still hasn't finished briefing me of the best books she read on the human realm." Satan interrupted.
"Alexa~ I bought a new salamander hydrating mask. It's a must-try product! Let's use it right now!" Sitting across her, Asmodeus reached for her hand, completely ignoring the already-fighting otaku and bookworm.
I guess a peaceful afternoon tea is impossible with everyone. Bickers and commotion fills the big table, only to be interrupted by a buzz of a phone.
"...Yes! Oi Alexa! 'Ya see this?" Mammon waves the screen of his D.D.D. "I hit a jackpot! It says it'll increase my investment by tenfold in just 3 days if I register right away! I'll pay MC, just 'ya wait." He return his attention back on it and moves his fingers across the screen.
"Name... Bank account... Passco... Hey!" Just before he completed filling up the form, his device elevates off his grasp. Glancing behind, he saw the older female, his D.D.D on hand.
"What'cha doin'!?" He struggled snatching his D.D.D back only to fail.
"Fixing your mistake. You're one click away from being scammed, you idiot."
"Gimme back–"
"My bad guys. I can't tend to your requests right now. This idiot needs an Investment Crash Course."
"What?" "That's unfair!" "But... TSL..." Bickers and squabbles start flying everywhere yet again. But this time, it's all directed at her and the second-born.
"What a mess..." Lucifer sighed.
"Mess you say, Lucifer? You're the one to talk. You've been keeping her all to yourself." Satan glared at him. The eldest of the brothers just facepalmed as he watch the already rowdy garden went even livelier than before.
"Isn't she bizarre?" The little sister suddenly spoke beside him. "She's a charismatic, thoughtful and a wonderful person. Yet she still have no boyfriend... If only she became more open with anyone after me."
"Really?"
"Will you believe she pushes me away during our first meetings?" She laughed. "I was so young I have no much recollection but... I do remember I bugged her alot, and she suddenly go all mushy after some time."
"... She is caring and everything but sometimes I feel she's suppressing herself, like she's protecting me from something. Like, it's something I shouldn't know. She's similar to you, don't you agree?"
"I don't know what you are talking about."
"Hmmp, tsundere."
"What did you just say?"
"I guess she won't reveal it to me, I'm her pure, beloved sister she'll protect to the end of the world after all. If there's anyone who will understand her, it's you. So I'll leave her to you, her demon and soulmate."
"Just so you know, having pact doesn't make her my soulmate."
"No, she is. She is alike to you in so many ways, you have natural affinity and you got along despite such repulsive first meeting. To top it of, you have that indestructible bond with each other. You are soulmates."
"..." With no rebuttal he stared at the young female. He then glance at Alexandria who is busy with the noisy bunch to hear what they are talking about.
An enigma she is. With more things MC mentioned him, he knew she won't leave his mind anytime soon.
-------
Basked under the crimson dusk atop a hill, two young girls sat a few feet apart another.
"Stop bothering me. I don't have plans of befriending anyone." radiating with annoyance, one of the girls interjects.
"But I want to. And I don't see any problems in doing so." The second girl shakes the spark off as if it's nothing.
"You wouldn't dare to, if you ever knew."
"Know... What... You mean, that..." The younger girl, point a finger not far from her direction.
As soon as the older girl whisked her head towards the direction, the sky, the hill... Everything melted into night.
The pavement blanketed with snow. The murky, ebony sky. The familiar, gaping door. A grip on her arm returned her attention to the girl with her. "Alexa, I'm scared."
And then a creak reverberated. "Wha... No! Don't look!" She pulled her, covering her eyes with her hand.
And as she suspected, it's the same scene as that night.
"Look, what do we have here." Taking the man's grip off the neck of his brother's lifeless body, he march towards her. "My beautiful, genius Alexandria. My protege."
"..."
"Oh my, look at that blazing blue eyes you got from me." Touching her face, caressing her cheeks with his thumb.
"Don't touch me, you monster!" She brushed his bloody hands from her and tried pulling the girl behind her, only to hold onto air. When she look back, the child was nowhere to be found. "Where...Ump–!" The man grabbed her face and forced her eyes on his.
"Monster you said? Don't forget you and I are the same. You inherited everything from me, that's why I kept you alive."
His eyes. His dead, cold eyes took her own, as if gobbling her whole. She felt like running away. She wanted to scream at the top of her lungs. She want to, but she couldn't. She just stand in there horrifiedly, in front of the monster that hunts her almost every single night. Her monster.
"Me, your monster? Don't make me laugh! Aren't you a monster yourself? After all you..." Alexandria's eyes snapped open. Breathless. Drenched. Beads of cold sweat trickles down from her skin as she sit up.
No matter how many times she was visited with the same nightmare, she will never get used to it.
Knowing she won't get another blink of sleep, she rise from the beddings. She left the room for the balcony of the planetarium, bringing with her a small container from her purse.
Opening the small case, she took out one of the white sticks and pressed it's tip between her lips. After lighting it, she took a deep breath and puff a cloud of smoke.
The smoke swirls in the bleakness of the night, together with her dreary thoughts.
"Can't sleep?" She flinched from the unexpected deep voice. She's too caught up inside her head that she failed to feel the man enter the balcony.
"Well, kind of."
"I admit, your surprised face is quite entertaining." Lucifer smirked as he moves beside her.
"Yeah, yeah. As long as you're happy." Alexandria scoffs.
"I never knew you're fond of things like that. That brand isn't even available here." He glanced on the ember on her hand.
"Not really. It's more of a ritual." Lucifer raised an eyebrow. "They say that a stick of a cigarette can shorten the human lifespan by 11 minutes, if you know what I mean." Lucifer's forehead scrunches in comprehension of her so-called 'ritual'. She only laughed bitterly at his reaction.
"Don't be so irked. Or would you rather see me full of cuts and holes?" She took another puff off the smoke.
"It's really a surprise you're still... alive." A lump he couldn't really explain blocked his throat for a second.
"It sure is. I've tried throwing it away countless of times already when I was young. Until MC came to my life."
"But MC said you really hated her that time. I don't see any consistency with your stories."
"Really?" She look faraway before glancing back to the demon.
"And I see you're more open with me than with MC, are you not?" He smirked playfully.
"What a chatterbox..." She glance away for a second. "Let me tell you a tale instead."
"Dunno. I just felt you'll understand and won't judge me. Maybe you're my soulmate?" Hearing the word from the person herself taken Lucifer aback, which then earned a chuckle from Alexandria. "... or maybe not."
"I'm scared I might taint her if she learn my past. I want her to grow without any fear and guilt, to mature the way she is." She paused as if hesitating if she'll continue with the story, but she carry on after a few moments.
"Long time ago, there is an annoying idiot in a form of a young philanthropist, much like her family. One day, she and her family plans a month-long stay in an orphanage for fund-raising and to help in any way. There she met a crazy psycho, who have failed attempts of suicide and plans to hung herself in the forest without any interference. Of course she never knew about her plan, she's a big idiot after all." Cool breeze blew on the balcony, taking the ash of the cigarette between her fingers.
"Day after day she bugged her, hindering her plans again and again and again until the crazy psycho got tired and postpone her plans until the night the annoying idiot leave the orphanage." Lucifer looked at her through his peripheral vision, earning a huff from the lady.
"Finally the day comes. Minutes after the annoying idiot left the crazy psycho on the hill, she was called by a stranger. Since she is a big idiot of an unsuspecting naive, she ate a candy from the man and lost consciousness. The crazy psycho witnessed this and convinced the man of bringing her too. She followed the idiot without thinking. Miraculously, she saved the idiot unscathed. The idiot left the orphanage safely. The crazy psycho was adopted not long after. And the two never cut ties with each other again. The end... Or not."
That's weird... "So you're telling me you chose to live because you save her? Shouldn't it be the other way around?"
"Not really. More like her naivety and recklessness girl made me want to protect her. I... just can't leave that angel alone on her own. Without any assurance that she'll be fine." A conflicted face reflects on Lucifer's eyes. He could saw nothing but a suffering person... a damsel in distress.
Does he empathize with her since they're in similar situation? Or is her sorrow contagious? Either way, he couldn't help but feel her sufferings. His eyes couldn't leave her form at all, watching every gestures she make.
"Is it really hard to forgive yourself of the things you didn't even do?" Extinguishing what's left of her smoke, she looked at him.
"It's easy, if I'm truly innocent, that is." She gave him a bitter smile. "I am not."
She faced him. "My father commit suicide after killing my mother and siblings... The stranger kidnapped MC and I, who is in the right age to identify him. How come we are able to leave unscathed?" A pair of jaded blue orbs met his.
"My father didn't commit suicide... That stranger also didn't let us leave like it's nothing... I took their lives with my own hands. I killed them."
"... You?"
"I stabbed my father with the knife he used to my family and the stranger, I strangled him to the head rest with the rope I'm supposed to be using to myself. And I dumped him with his car on a nearby cliff."
The moonlight shines on them, reflected by a single teardrop forming on the corner of her eyes. The wind brushed her hair gently as the single tear rolled down her rosy cheeks, never to be followed with another one. Bitter smile never left her face. Her skin is like a porcelain, pristine and unblemished. It was as if she was an angel... A fallen angel, with tattered wings like he is.
"I am... a monster." She took his breath away. He witnessed it. He is captivated by an unbearably beautiful creature.
Before he knew it, he already reached out, replacing the wind from caressing her hair.
She flinch from his touch, as if a bashful mimosa folding and drooping from a light stimulus. She is too vulnerable at the moment. Should he continue with such gesture, she might indulge with it. She shouldn't. A monster like her doesn't deserve such kindness. And thus, Alexandria chose to step away from him.
"I-I told you everything. Then, I'll be taking my leave." A hasty bow is followed by her brisk walking. She grabbed the knob. I need to leave.
He didn't know why but he felt it. Her flame is waning.
If he let her be by herself again, he never knew what she will do with herself next. What if the next time he saw her, she'll be full of cuts? What if she'll be so injured she won't be able to leave her room? What if... What if the next time he saw her, she's not breathing anymore?
But that's not possible. She won't leave her sister alone.
And then her words awhile ago flashed his mind."I'm glad I can trust you and your brothers are to keep my sister safe. Thank you I could be at ease."
That's not only as an apology or gratitude. She's... entrusting her sister with us and planning to die soon?
A loud thud echoes off the balcony as the door return to its frame. She didn't close it. He did, as he wrap his free arm around her.
A bloody Alexandria. Pale. Cold. Lifeless.
That's not gonna happen. I won't permit it. I need something to suppress her from her self-destructive tendencies... Something concrete. Anything...
"...you have that indestructible bond with each other."
... I see...
"Let it be me..." The words left his lips. That's his answer, their indestructible bond— the pact that bind their souls together.
"W—What do you mean?" The confusion and and perplexity in her eyes didn't stop him. If he stop right there, tomorrow she might be there no more. It's now or never.
" Alexandria, I'll be your reason for living."
-------
It took so long ( like, reaaaally long (๑°౪≦)ゞ) but I posted it at last heehee. I revised it like tons of times until I'm satisfied. (I also did two short reads along with this cuz inspiration and it'll be a waste not to write it (~ ̄³ ̄)~
I learned my lesson. If I don't wanna rewrite the story, I should fix it until I'm satisfied or it'll pile up and It won't leave the back of my mind as ling as I haven't fix it.
And I never thought it'll be this long (maybe there's 2 chapters more)
Diagon Alley. 2019.
You were scouring the book shop for the list of books you needed for your seventh year, oblivious to the gaze of two boys currently hiding behind the bookshelf next to you.
"I don't think I can do this." Jisung whispered nervously next to his best friend. His hands were shaking non-stop as they gripped his phone while the other held on to his wand. "What if she says no?"
"She isn't." Chenle assured him. "You haven't even asked her yet."
"How are you so sure she'll say yes if I haven't even asked her?" Jisung whined. "Don't do that. Don't give me hope."
Chenle groaned, shaking his head in frustration. "Stop referencing Endgame and start talking to her!"
Jisung nodded his head. He puffed his cheeks, internally psyching himself out as he shifted from one foot to another like a boxer. However as soon as he began to walk towards you, you were already gone. His body slumped visibly, his puffed cheeks now void of air as he groaned in defeat.
"Wait." Chenle said, stopping his friends wallowing. "There's still a way." Jisung visibly perked up as Chenle opened up his phone with the younger boy peeking over his shoulder in curiosity. "Here we go!" He exclaimed, gesturing to his phone. "She's still close!"
"Why do you know her phone's name?" Jisung questioned, tilting his head to his friend.
"She airdropped her notes to me once last year." He hastily explained before pushing Jisung out. "Now go get your girl!"
"But I don't know where she is!" This made Chenle stop.
"Give me your phone." Jisung only lifted his hand with his phone a little when the older boy snatched it away. Jisung automatically panics when he sees him begin typing.
"What are you doing?" Chenle shushed him with his hand.
"Listen…" the both of them could faintly hear a phone ding. Without a moment to waste, Chenle pulled Jisung with him to follow the string of notification dings while his fingers tapped on the younger's phone.
It wasn't long until they found you in front of another book shelf, looking down at your phone questioningly. Chenle sneakily slipped Jisung's phone back to his hand before walking away. You looked around the room before your eyes landed on an awestruck boy.
"Was this you?" You asked him. “For the last time, please stop trying to airdrop me.”
He seemed to have lost the ability to speak as he stumbled with what he was going to say. "Uhh… I w-was trying to look for you."
You took your wand, wordlessly using it to pull him by his clothes until he was standing a few feet in front of you. "Must I remind you that you could've used your wand?"
"Right," he stammered. You looked down to your phone, chuckling a bit at the picture he kept sending you.
"Although I do love this picture." You teased, showing it to him. It was a picture of him when he was younger and had a bowl cut. You watch him crumble in embarrassment with him hiding his blushing face with his big hands. "Why were you looking for me?"
Jisung lifted his head to look at you again, only for him to feel even hotter now. You stared in amusement at his reddening face as he visibly took a deep breath. "I-i wanted to ask if you could tutor me in Charms?"
You almost burst out laughing at his request. "You know you could've asked me at school, right? And with the way you were building up to it I thought you were going to ask me out."
The thought had crossed his mind and maybe that was what he was originally going to ask but that didn't stop the redness to continue. His brain short circuited as he tried to form the words. "I I I I…"
You chuckled once again. "I'm only teasing. What's your name, stranger?"
"Jisung." He replied.
"Nice to meet you, Jisung. I'm y/n, your Charms tutor. Let's meet every Wednesday before dinner in the library. I'll see you there!" You told him, squeezing on his shoulder before walking away with your books.
Jisung stood frozen for a moment before fist pumping the air and jumping around exxitedly. "Yes!"
He seemed to have forgotten he had dropped Charms after getting a 'P' on it in his OWLs.
I was sure I posted this ficlet before, but I can't find it, so here it is again.
Having arrived late in the evening to Seventh Heaven after a long day of work, Cloud went straight to his and Tifa's bedroom, where he changed from his battle gear into a pair of sweats and t-shirt. Barefoot and reclining on the bed, with pillows propped behind his back, he looked nothing like the badass ex-SOLDIER people assumed he was on first meeting. He picked up one of Barret's books on planetology, loaned to Tifa, and dug his music player out of a drawer.
~*~*~
Even though Cloud had earphones in and his eyes on the book in his hand, he tensed on reflex when the bedroom door slowly swung inward. Alert and half rising to meet whatever danger approached, he let out a small sigh of relief when he realised it was only Denzel.
"What's up, buddy?" he asked, pulling the earbuds out. He checked the clock by the bed. "It's late. Thought you were sleeping."
"I heard shouting," Denzel replied, rubbing his eye. "Marlene said it's okay, but..." His gaze slid in the direction of the stairs.
Sympathy flickered across Cloud's face. Denzel suffered so much in his short life. It was no wonder he saw threats everywhere.
Now that he'd drawn attention to it, Cloud could hear harsh voices raised in anger coming from the bar. Tifa can handle herself. He wasn't worried, he'd seen first hand how much ass she could kick.
About to say as much to Denzel, he stopped before the first word formed on his lips. He's shaking. "Okay," Cloud said, getting off the bed and tugging his boots on. "I got it. You go back to bed." He put one hand on top of Denzel's head in reassurance, while grabbing his sword with the other.
~*~*~
"...I'm asking you one last time, sir, if you don't calm down you'll have to leave."
Cloud paused on the bottom step. Tifa's customer service voice sounded strained. She wasn't far from losing patience, but wasn't scared. She could definitely handle whoever the goon was. A small smile tweaked the corner of his mouth for a brief instant. Should I get a front row seat?
The next moment all amusement drained from his face, replaced with a murderous look he knew scared people.
"Slut! You think you can shake your giant tatas, overcharge for this horse piss you call beer and act like you weren't doing nothing wrong!? Huh!? Whore!"
Tifa didn't answer, but that didn't matter. Cloud was already moving through the bar at speed to plant himself behind her and level his sword at the insulting piece of shit. He grabbed her hip, both to let her know he was there and to keep her from moving.
He heard her draw a startled breath at the sword whipping past. Calm down, you're scaring her. Taking a deep breath to give him time to dull his rage to a simmer, he said to her, "Need some help?"
Tifa turned her head and angled it to meet his eyes. Shock melted into relief and she smiled up at him. "Don't know about need," she teased in that low, mellow tone of hers.
"Want," he corrected, finishing their familiar banter.
In answer, Tifa put her hand over Cloud's and squeezed. She turned her head back to the drunk patron, who'd been joined by two friends. "A threesome, huh?" she commented in a way that left no doubt the double entendre was on purpose.
Cloud still choked and had to clear his throat.
"Dumb bint," the drunk slurred. "This is why we all hate you."
The two friends grabbed him by the arms between them.
"Ah, sorry, sorry," one said, his eyes on Cloud's sword. "He doesn't know what he's saying."
"Yeah," added the other one, "we're not all like that."
As Tifa leaned back against him, Cloud said in a deadly tone, "Get out and don't let me see your faces around here again."
"Thanks for your patronage!" Tifa called in an artificially cheery voice as they left. She turned immediately once the doors swung shut. "Thanks."
"You had it in hand," he replied, trying not to dismiss her skills.
"I did," she confirmed, smiling again, "but I like knowing you have my back."
"Always," he shot out the reply before she even finished speaking.
Tifa ducked her head and chuckled. "You always know just what to say."
"Oi, love birds, can I get a drink with this show?"
Only just realising they had an audience, Cloud felt an embarrassed heat warm the back of his neck. He stepped away from Tifa and turned, intent on heading back to their room. "Close up soon, okay?" he threw over his shoulder, intention clear in his tone.
In a teasing, yet endearingly familiar response she winked, gave him a thumbs up and said, "Copy that."
A short story
The end sucks, but it’s something.
It’s 7076 words, English is not my first language.
Tumblr media
As silly as it might sound, I honestly thought that what I heard when speaking to people was them speaking to me, even if they half of the time they didn't move their lips. I thought it was normal and didn't question it when I heard people say the answers to their own questions, or when I saw people on the street holding hands and laughing but said out in the open that they would rather be anywhere else. I often asked what people meant with what they said and for the most part only got weird looks in response. Instead of understanding that what I could hear wasn't normal and stopped talking about it, I instead spoke my mind and questioned almost everything I heard.
When receiving gifts, when I was younger, I used to always guess what I believed to exist in the package. Of course, I was always correct no matter how much they tried to hide the content. I would also always win in rock, paper, scissors when playing it in kindergarten. In the end everyone started to just give me money on Christmas or as birthday present. Everyone in kindergarten also stopped trying to be my friend as I always speaked my mind and unknowingly spred others secrets around. I realized quickly that something was wrong with me but was too busy self-pitying myself to figure out what.
My father worked a lot and would often not be home until late at night after leaving early in the morning. My mother on the other hand started staying at home as soon as I was born, you would think that a mother should have noticed its own child's strange behavior, but I learned quickly that she was blinded by the thought of having a perfect child and brushed every weird act away. I could hear what people really thought about me and would, without explanation, distain myself when knowing I wasn't wanted. I grew self-conscious of how I acted, dressed and spoke. Even though I grew weary of my speech I still asked about the things I heard. My dad noticed my strange behavior and distanced himself from the family even more and either worked harsher hours or passed free time at bars. Whenever I was lucky enough to see my father, he was in an argument with mom. Mostly about how stressed he was from work and often whined about the smallest things, like how the food he warms up after coming home always was either too bland or too salty. The biggest reason to why they argued though was because of my weird actions, he understood what it was I could do and didn't feel safe in his own home and therefore tried to explain this to mom.
Just a week or so before my seventh birthday he left for another woman, stated how mom has grown to dense for comfort and that I was a monster he never wanted, at the same time exclaiming the impossibility of me being his daughter. When leaving, mom broke down by the doorstep and closed herself in her room, for weeks living as a ball of depression in her room with meals being delivered to her door, she finally stepped out of her cave. And for the first time in a long time saw my face. It was like a string in mom snapped and she quickly started blaming me for dad's disappearance. She no longer wanted to see me as the perfect daughter and instead searched for flaws around me that she could comment on. While searching she found my strange ability, she grew outraged finding the one thing that father always tried to explain was there and the biggest reason for his departure.
She started giving me rules to follow to be allowed in her home. I was no longer considered family. For me to not be able to spread her secrets I was not allowed to talk, to be allowed to eat I had to make the food, I had to do everything in my power to make myself the house ghost. Every time she saw me, she sneered, gave me a row of dirty looks and thought the worst things she could think of about me, knowing that I would hear and take it to heart, I wasn't worth her words. I spend most of my time in our library, mother didn't bother putting me in a school so until I could attend one, I took care of my education on my own. When mother was home, I obeyed every big or small rule she had for me, didn't speak, never looked her in the eye and cooked the best food I could because of the many cook books I studied. I did after all still love her and wanted her to be happy even if the thought wasn't mutual. Mother quickly started working again and worked just as long hours as father did, I barely saw her. She must have started to enjoy her work more or just wanted to be even further away from me, either way she started going on business trips for weeks at a time. After all the reason behind mother's fortune and big house wasn't because of her and fathers divorce but because of her own efforts as a business woman.
On my ninth birthday mother contacted me while being on a vacation in Dubai and asked me rather harshly if I have been studying, and even if originally not told to I told her that I have been spending most of my free time in the house library and should be on the same level as others my age in most subjects. Mother told me with a lack of interest that she had enrolled me in the school closest to her home. She gave me strict instructions on what kind of equipment I was supposed to buy and told me that I was supposed to start in about two weeks when summer break was over. Even if she forgot about it, I like to think that was my birthday present and had hope of her maybe still having gentle and loving feelings towards me.
Everything went on as usual except that the ghost of the house danced around laughing and singing to express her joy. I had always wanted to meet new people and liked to think that I had learned my lesson from kindergarten. I had under two weeks straight daydreamed about countless scenery's, different conversations and the kind of people I would meet. I set up a countless set of rules for how I should act and speak. I picked out the perfect outfit and studied extra hard for a couple of days just so mother wouldn't think of me as a disappointment.
The high hopes I had for my new beginning quickly crumbled when what first greeted me was scared and angry looks, I didn't understand that those who went to the town's kindergarten could have gone to the same school as me. So, I didn't have time to make a name out of myself with the new me, because others already had. I was supposed to go there from third grade to sixth, I knew mother wouldn't care about my situation, so my only option was to suffer through three years of hair pulling, name calling, pushing, things being thrown at me as well as my things being destroyed and, in some cases, punching and kicking. I hadn't even once out loud said a thing I heard someone think, most of them had no proof of what a few others were saying, even teachers just believed what children said about me being able to read other minds.
When I went through the last day of sixth grade, I was welcomed home to mothers' servants and maids packing the hole house away and when looking out the window I saw three moving trucks. One of the maids came to me and explained that my room was already packed and that I could wait out in the one of the cars. She must have seen my questioning expression because she then quickly explained that me and mother were moving to Scottsdale, Arizona and explained that mother was already there. While in the car on my way to the airport I remember doing some research on the town we were moving to and started getting a little worried when I saw six cases of kidnaping in the area but quickly pushed the thought away. I thought that this time, in a new state, new city, miles from my first ever home, I could maybe have a new start where no one knew who I was.
I ended up spending all my free time for summer brake looking around town, getting to know my surroundings. I found the town library and passed a lot of my time studying the towns history, I have for a long time been interested in geographic history but once again grew worried when looked at one of the TVs in the library that showed another case of a missing child. Because mother usually isn't home, I have and is still being raised by our house maids and was delighted when knowing that our staff moved with us.
And here I am in Scottsdale, Arizona's very own Mountainside Middle School, in one of thier classrooms for seven graders. They started school a week ago and because there were so many knew students except me, I wasn't as big of a mystery and I have been able to stay out of everyone's way. This school is already a lot better compered to my first one, everyone is a lot nicer and of what I can tell, bullying is extremely rare here. I met almost all the teachers except my math teacher who apparently have been sick for most of summer break and still felt a little sick a week after and stayed home. I have made one friend though; her name is Emma and she is currently sleeping in her seat next to me using her arms as a pillow. I kind of understand her reason for falling asleep, our history teacher Mrs. Owen is trying to teach us about the golden age while most of the students are either talking with their seat mate, in hushed tones, or are almost sleeping. Lucky for all the student as well as the well ignored teacher this school has a bell to alert us of when class has ended and that bell just rang.
Everyone starts standing up making the chairs scrape against the floor as well as the volume quickly started to raise, this didn't wake Emma though. I poked her cheek a couple of times with her just turning her face from me while grumbling. I sigh, "Emma, wake up", she doesn't move. "Please Emma, wake up", I try once again while poking her cheek. No, go away. "Emma, I won't go away. Just please get up, people are starting to stare." She knows how I don't like attention and kindly enough turns her head gives me a small glare but, in the end, rises and takes her history book, note book and pen from the end of the table. Fine, she thinks while starting to turn to face me. She can be incredibly stubborn and hard headed, but she was the first and only one who talked to me on our first day just four days ago and our friendship just kind of bloomed from there. She's loud, I'm quiet, she hates school, I appreciate it. But she is kind, she usually doesn't show it, but she cares and doesn't judge easily. I don't know her that well, of course I want to get to know her, but I don't feel an extreme need to, she is my first friend in years and I just want to live in that dream for a while before I maybe open my mouth and destroy it all.
While walking out of the classroom we are met with a wall of students quickly walking to get to their locker to get home. While being in this big crowds I'm happy that I learned how to close out most thoughts, before it all crashed on to me and I couldn't help to hear everything on a 15 meter radius around me or anyone I made eye contact with, now I here just a few and of course also anyone I wish to hear the thought of. I use the ability now more mostly to get to know the real character of someone I never met before.
Finally finding an opening in the moving wall of students me and Emma quickly starts walking in the same direction as most others. "You busy this weekend?", she asked while walking. "No, I was just planning on studying for the most part, why". She made a funny face as soon as I mentioned studying. "Well, if you want to do something that's actually fun, I thought that we maybe could have a sleep over." She stops by her locker while I continues walking to mine which is just 7 lockers down. Thank god. Mr. Wilson is finally starting on Monday; this substitute is killing me. Who is Mr. Wilson? It's going to be so much easier when Mr. Wilson comes back. These are just random thoughts from random students but who is that? I don't think we have a teacher named Wilson.
I start putting everything in my bag with Emma looking over my shoulder. Hurry up. Hurry up. Hurry up. Hurry up. I can feel a headache coming along, I wonder why. She is still doing her little chant while having the decency to look completely unbothered by how slow I am while leaning on the locker next to mine. The halls are emptier now with only a few still by their locker while some are walking towards the exit. "No, I'm sorry but I can't this weekend, mother is holding a gathering slash party for the company she works for." I say while closing my locker and putting my bag on my shoulder. It's a black Armani shoulder bag, sure mother doesn't like me, but I'm still related by blood and can't, in her words, run around bringing shame to her name because of cheap clothes and products. "We could maybe be at my home; my family shouldn't be bothered by it." I would honestly really like to, I mean she is my first friend in a long time but one of mother's rules is for me to stay at home at all time when she is home. Not for my company but to keep an eye on me while at she is able to. "I'm sorry but mother doesn't like me being out of the house when she is home, I'm sure she will be away again next weekend and would love to have a sleep over then if that's alright?" She looks a little sad, her shoulders slumping and eyes darting to the floor but quickly goes back to being normal with a small smile tugging at her lips when hearing that I maybe could next weekend.
We started walking towards the exit, in a calmer fashion now when we aren't being pushed forward by a wall of bodies. I can't keep my smile from blooming on my face while looking towards the door but at the same time hearing her thoughts. She seems to be delighted thinking of how she wishes for Monday to come quicker. That reminds me. "Emma." She looks towards me. "You have been at this school since fifth grade, right." She turns her head more towards me and nods slowly. "Yeah, why?" I keep walking with my face facing forward while looking to and from her face moving only my eyes. "It's nothing really. I just heard some people talking about somebody called Mr. Wilson. I haven't heard the name here before so I'm just wondering if you know who it is." My eyes stay on her face when she turns her head towards the exit with a sour expression on her face. Ugh, I forgot that guy existed. Okay, someone has a grudge. "You know how we have had a substitute for a week in math? Mr. Wilson, full name: Oliver Wilson, is the actual math teacher." She answers quickly and snappily, seeming not wanting to talk about him. It's okay, I got the hint Ill drop it. Awkward silence quickly fallows. And I regret dropping it.
We continue through the school exit down the small stairs to the place where we are supposed to part ways, me going right towards the school bus stop that's just barely seven meters from where I am standing, and Emma going left towards her apartment that's just 10 minutes from here. I start turning my back towards her and begins to walk away. I make it about three steps before a hand takes my left arm turning me ninety degrease left. She sighs running her left hand through her hair with her right one still holding my arm. "I'm sorry. It's not that I'm mad at you or anything I just really don't like the guy. "He is extremely annoying with a way to care free attitude. And his smile is super creepy." As she thinks the last thing, she shudders with an expression making her look partially scared, partially disgusted. "Hey. It's okay, you don't need to apologies." I quickly say back while putting a comforting hand on her left shoulder. I noticed this a while ago, Emma gets emotional very easily so it's easy to accidently hurt her feelings if you don't know her well. "We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." She raises her head and gives me a grateful smile. Thank you.
When looking around I see my bus about 15 seconds from the bus stop and quickly turn my head toward Emma. "I'm sorry but I really need to go, my bus is coming." I turn around and for the second time today I start walking with the bus stop as my goal only to stop half way and turn around to face Emma to see her already walking in the towards her home. "Emma!" I scream and see her turning around. "I'll see you on Monday, we can start planning our weekend sleep over then." She lights up as a big smile glues to her face and at the same time she nods her head franticly. Okay! A voice happily screams in my head. I hear the bus stopping behind and I turn around quickly and run to the entrance, blip my card and take a seat I the middle of the bus on the right side. Not many people take the bus on Fridays: the reason for all the empty seats.
I don't have to wait to long for the bus to stop right outside mothers' home. I see her black Lamborghini in the spacious drive way while hopping out of the bus. While walking on the stone path leading towards the door, I make sure to be looking down to not accidentally looking her in the eyes for when I see her and check my posture to make sure I'm walking with a straight back, she hates when I don't. I open the door and as usual, its open. The maids know my schedule and unlock the door when my last class ends so it's open when I get home. I walk in, closing the door behind me, locking it as well. I see a couple of boxes on the right side of me, stocked neatly by the wall part of the TV room's wall with the rest being glass so you can look out to the garden. The boxes are all closed using a tape where it said Arizona Nights, I guess its stuff for mothers gathering/party tomorrow. I found out about it under summer break. One of the maids told me that as soon as mother comes home, she was going to hold something party-ish to celebrate the move and that when she was on her business trip, she landed an important deal with a company from Sydney, Australia. I know from the way she said it that I was, as usual, to stay in my room. So, I'm doing exactly that. After all I didn't lie to Emma when I said that I was going to study.
My room was on the second floor that you reached by going up the stairs that were on the far-left side of the house, in the living room. Before going there though I took of my shoes and put them on the floor to the right of me by the hallway wall. Mother and everyone who works here doesn't usually take of their shoes, but I like walking in just my socks. I think its cozy. I turn my body to the stairs and swiftly made my way over there then quietly made my way up and turned right and went in to the first door on the left. When I was younger, like very young, I made a name sign to hang on my door. At the time mother still acted like a mom should so we made it together in our former kitchen. You can really see how its homemade, with a cotton candy blue background and messily written Molly with baby pink glitter. I quietly close the door while facing my room and walked to my desk that's positioned forward in the right corner of my square room. While sitting on my chair in front for my desk I put my shoulder bag in my lap and took out my math homework for next week, as well as all the necessities to finish it.
That's how I used my weekend, finishing the math, science as well as the English homework, the biggest problem probably being keeping my concentration on just that, mothers party started on Saturday afternoon and kept on going with countless different attractions on the schedule, so it ended very early morning on Sunday. Waking up Monday morning wasn't that fun either, I slept only three hours the night before, the smell of alcohol still slightly lingering in the air making it only worse. School starts at eight AM every day so, just as today, I always put a timer to wake up twenty minutes over seven. I get out of bed slowly making my way to my closet, putting on a pair of black high-waisted skinny jeans and a baby blue off-shoulder blouse, keeping my hair straight after brushing it. Taking my school bag with me, I walk out my room and down the stairs quickly noticing my especially quiet surroundings, it being explained to me when I can't see my mother's car through the living room windows. I put on the TV listening to Arizona's NEWS as background noise while making breakfast in the kitchen on opposite side of the house but with no walls closing of the connecting area. "Another child kidnapping took place somewhere between six PM and nine PM yesterday evening in the middle of Scottsdale saying to have connections with the other 7 kidnappings in the area. The thirteen-year-old Emma Rodrigues had a goal of going to the closest food store to her home and then quickly coming home again. The trip should only have taken 20 minutes, but she never got home and have been informally declared missing." The news anchor continued with talking about other events while I stood in front of the TV with a half-eaten sandwich in my right hand staring wide eyed at the screen, processing the former information. Emma, is gone? I mean, I have read about kidnappings accruing in the area all through the year but didn't believe it would be this close.
In my daze I see the bus stop by my house, I will have to think about this when I'm not in shock, I can't think like this. I quickly run to our hallway to put on my shoes, hang my school bag over my shoulder and take my jacket with me just in case. Opening the door, I just run seeing the line of kids shrinking, not thinking of locking the door hoping the maids notice and lock it in my stead. Luckily the bus driver sees me and waits for my arrival, I get on, bleep my card and find an empty seat in the back-right corner. If I would have just had that stupid sleep over with her at her house, then she wouldn't have gone there alone and might have had a better chance fighting back whoever that kidnaping freak is. I feel my hands clenching in my lap and my teeth roughly rub against each other. How could her parents let her out that late on her own? Haven't they heard about the kidnappings in the area? My first friend in years gone after just one week of knowing her. No, I will find her, and we are having that dumb sleep over this weekend.
Should I tell her, or just poke her? I mean the bus have stopped, haven't she noticed? Huh? I look up to see a guy from my class sitting in a chair tree places from me looking nervously in my direction but quickly looks down when seeing that I cough him. No one else is in the bus except some walking out of it, the boy from before now also trying to accomplish the same thing. I stand up and walk to the bus exit my body now on auto pilot while putting my full attention on planning. If she disappeared while going to, or from, the shop then that is the most obvious place to start searching: I don't have any other leads. The police still haven't caught the kidnapper after so long so I can't count on them that much. I have been getting an allowance for some years and have barely used any of it so I should have more than enough for a private detective if its needed. I notice my body stopping in front of my locker and decide to leave the subject occupying my mind to after school pulling out my math book as well as my note book with some pens. That's right. The actual math teacher is supposed to start today. Until proven different my opinion of him will remain the same as Emma's.
When walking in to the classroom I see most of the students sitting like normal but seem way to happy about having math first thing in the morning on a Monday, I guess Mr. Wilson is more popular with the students than I thought. I take the seat furthest in the back on the right side, by the windows. A man, maybe twenty-five years old, walk in six minutes later, a big smile on his face. "Hello kids!" he greets us while putting down the papers he had with him. "Goodmorning!" Some of the kid's greet back while some of the new ones in the class look as confused as I would have been if I didn't know who it was. He does a quick look through on the sitting students, his left eye twitches slightly but I don't think anyone else noticed it. "I see a lot of new students. And I guess by the looks some are given me; an introduction is in order." He pauses, turning to the board with a chalk, writing as he speaks. "My name is Oliver Wilson, you can call me Oliver or Mr. Wilson, it's up to you. I'm 27 years old," eh I was close enough, "and have been teaching math in this school for almost seven months now. I hope I can meet your expectations." For the last part he does a little bow. He raises and then asks if there were any questions for him. One in the middle of the class raises their hand, Oliver quickly points at her as a sign to speak. "I heard you have been sick for a while, are you feeling better?" He chuckles looking down at his shoes but looks up again grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Yes, thank you Melisa. I'm feeling much better." Yet again no one seems to notice the scary glint in his eye or how he is smiling like a psychopath. Another girl raises her hand, takes it down again and without permission asks her question. "Well, what did you do while sick. It was like, hole summer break, right?" Okay, already hate her. What's worse, she was blowing bubble gum while speaking, could she be any more cliché? Ugh no, girl I don't know the name of, I sorry mentally, you know how it is, stress isn't fun so sorry for being mean to you mentally. "Yes, you are right, I was sick for almost two months. And for what I did, I just took care of some bugs." 13-year-old bugs with a pair of arms and legs that is. He chuckles a little for himself. Paus, what did you just say, I mean think? You are officially number one on my list of subjects, containing just you. It seems that I might not need to search the area from ger apartment to the food-store. This ability of mine is making it a lot easier than it would have been originally. "Okay, enough questions, let's start shall we." He picks up the stack of papers that he had with him. "I hope you have been listening to the substitute last week because we are having a pop quiz on the content, she was instructed to teach you." Even if this is a misunderstanding, I would rather follow him after school and be wrong than letting it go and later finding out to be right. Everyone in the classroom is showing their displeasure by loudly groaning, some throwing their heads back with a sigh and some roughly putting their head on their table side looking like they are giving up on life. Now he's standing in front of the class looking at all of us like we are his cherished friends. Emma was right, he is creepy.
Under the school day I planned how I would follow him, how far behind him I would be and what I would do if he drove home. I'm extremely happy right now that I took my jacket with me, its black which means I can wear it over my blue shirt so that I can bland it better. I did some research on him as well, he's not famous but there is always at least a little of information on everyone. He is quite normal except for the thing that he moves every year. Not just cities but states, he moves miles every year, but I can't find a non-written or a written explanation. That's about how weird it gets with him, I might be completely wrong about him but for the moment he is my only lead on Emma's disappearance. I know that the teachers' shifts on Monday's end at five PM so after my last class, I wait in one of the school's bathrooms. While waiting I just read on my phone, I don't want anyone hearing I'm here so the quietest form of entertainment for me was reading, changing every so often to looking through Instagram. When I see the clock on my phone turning 5.15 PM I slowly and quietly walk out the girl's bathroom and make my way to the teachers' lounge. The hallways are deafeningly silent, a feeling of an empty airhorn going of next to my ears is as clear as day. Their door has a window I can look through, into the big room with chairs and messy tables and one very prominent desk light outlining the back of one Oliver Wilson. Now, why haven't you left yet? Finally, I think everyone is gone now. He sighs. This was easier under summer break when it was empty all the time. He turns his desk light of fixing his papers putting it on the corner of his table together with other papers. He stands up and I swiftly turn around hiding in the boy's bathroom hallway peeking from the corner. He walks out the door, closing it behind him and locking it. But instead of going to the exit he goes in opposite direction. Okay, maybe there is a backward exit only teachers use. Not before he gets to the end of the corridor and turn right, I get out of my hiding spot and follow his footsteps hearing them echoing in the dark empty space. It feels like I'm in a horror movie and have taken the character of that one dumb kid that follow the scary sounds. I shake my head disappointed in myself.
I stop by the corner where he turned right and look towards his direction hearing and seeing him slowly without a care in the world walking down the hall while fiddling with a key in his left hand. In that pathway there is no exits, none that I know of anyway. This is just getting creepier and creepier, if he isn't the kidnapper after this, I will honestly be surprised. But then again how would no one know where the kids were if he hid them in a school. He stops in front of a room labelled girls bathroom. Now when I think about, that one has been out of use since a year back, Emma told me. Maybe today she will finally brake tell me what I want to know. While thinking this he unlocks the door and steps inside, fortunately I can't hear him locking it after closing. I run to the bathroom door and put my ear to it, his footsteps are growing quieter every second. Just how big is this bathroom? When I can't hear him anymore, I slowly open the door seeing something not so bathroom like. The actual tiles used in most bathrooms on the floor cover only about half of the ground with the rest being a stair case down and then a path continuing to the right. This is getting ridicules, when was this build and who in their right minds go to these lengths for, well, anything. Should I maybe just call the police and then leave? But what if she really is down there, and I heard what he thought before, I can't just leave her with something like that. I pick up my phone from my right jacket pocket and call 911, I will need backup to help if I go down there and it doesn't work out in my favor. "Nine one one, what's your emergency?" A manly voice asks. "Hello, my name is Molly Anderson. I'm right now in Mountainside Middle school and I think I have found the kidnapped children as well as the kidnapper." I answer quickly and in a hushed tone, even though I closed the door I don't want to risk it. "How old are you?" The man asks in an angry tone. "13, but I can't see how this has anything to do with the task at hand!" I answer back in the same tone, what the hell is he doing. "Mis I have had enough of you and your friends prank calling over this matter, it's incredibly insensitive. "I clench my teeth together. Right now, my patience isn't that high, and he is making me use all of it. "I know its insensitive since one of the kidnapped kids is my friend," I spit out, "and I understand if there have been people prank calling about this subject. But right now, I don't have time for your nagging and/or complaining, I just thought that the police would like to know that if you go straight ahead, left and then open the broken girl's bathroom there is a Goddam basement that's not on the maps and I just saw a very suspicious teacher called Oliver Wilson walk down there opening the door with his own key talking to himself how he hopes a "she" will finally brake and tell him what he wants to know. I'm about to go down that basement because obviously you aren't going to help. So have a good day knowing my, maybe, future blood is on your hands." I growl out before hanging up putting my phone in my jacket pocket after turning it on silent. I take a deep breath calming myself down, I can't make any small mistakes just because I'm angry. I open the door again, complete silence greeting me. With a shaky breath I start going down the stairs looking to the pathway on my right to be met with a faint light at the end of the long tunnel.
I heard soft murmurs coming from the other end that grew louder with each passing step. Softly placing my right hand on the right wall while walking forward, its pitch black so I can barely see what's in front of me. The only sorce of light coming from behind me in the bathroom, and far ahead of me. Coming closer to the end of the tunnel but still out of sight if anyone were to look in, I see a white sterile room shaped like a rectangle with one of the shorter ends being towards me. My eyes quickly catch three sitting forms in a small cage furthest away from me, at the end of the room. They all are sitting with their knees to their chins and their arms around themselves, seeming to shiver, two more so than the other. Something is dropped on the floor creating an echo in the room traveling in the tunnel. I try making myself even smaller while my gaze quickly falls on Oliver who is now crutching down to pick up the needle that fell. Behind him I see a metallic table with papers, more needles and small bottles with liquid in them. He takes three needles from his collection and fill all of them with the liquid from one of the smaller bottles that seems to have been used a lot. I have to say, Boomslang venom really is effective. It's good that I learned how much to give. He chuckles lowly. In the beginning I kept trying with the wrong amount, so they grew crazy a lot quicker than intended. It was fun to watch though. He smiles like in school again, like a psychopath.
When he turns his back to me, walking towards the cage with the three bodies, I quickly look around to find a big bookshelf to the left off me. Its barely thirty centimeters place inbetweener the bookshelf and the wall, I try my luck while his back is facing me and run to quietly hide in said space. "Let's see if-
"Order 37! One medium vanilla latte with a slice of carrot cake!" Amelia looks up from the book hearing the barista yell out her order. She quickly puts the bookmark in the book while putting it on the table, stands up and swiftly walks to the place you order/take your order. Amelia got a little frustrated now when the barista interrupted her reading, she knew it would happen eventually since she ordered but it was still frustrating. Amelia took her order from the barista that she now could see was named "Julia" from her name tag. Julia smiles at Amelia while wishing her a good evening. "Thank you, you to", Amelia response. She, more calmly now, walks to her seat seeing her jacket hanging from the chair she sat on, her school bag sitting on the table in front of her chair while leaning to the right on the window to the right of her tablet. The whole right side of the cafés wall being one big window. The seat Amelia's stuff is on has been her favorite seat for a year and a half now since she started coming here. If you look at it from entering door, it's the seat in the furthest left corner with the place you order just five meters to the right of it. Amelia softly puts the plate with the carrot cake as well as the cup of steaming coffee down on the table next to hers, since they are connected, and she needs to rearrange stuff on her table to be able and fit it all. Since her bag is taking up the most space, Amelia takes it and puts it on the chair next to hers. She sits down and puts the plate and cup in front of her, next to her book.
Amelia started reading this book just ten minutes or so ago, right after she ordered and sat down. It got recommended to her by one of the librarians who told her a summary of it. This girl Molly goes through this experience with her kidnapped friend and in the end managed to save just the two other kids, but not Emma. The police show up in the end and helps her, after all that she gets a new view of the police. She believes them to not being good enough for their jobs. Through the book then, the librarian explained, you follow Molly growing up and becoming a detective, and since she can read minds, she becomes one of the best. She moves state to state to different police headquarters who asks for her help, specializing in kidnappings. Amelia likes pretty much any genre when it comes to books but absolutely fell in love with the summery the librarian told her and just had to borrow it. She can't wait to read about Molly when she is grown up. Amelia picks up the book and opens it where she put the book mark, taking it out and putting it on the last page in the book. Finding the sentence where she had to stop, Amelia continues reading "The Clairvoyant".
what's your favorite things about all of your friends?? please don't say you don't have any i really wanna know
“please don’t say you don’t have any” what the FUCK is THAT supposed to mean??? And does Chenille count as one of my friends or not, because previous scientific research (e.g. every time she’s spoken to me) says she absolutely does not.
.....Okay, fine. But this does not get back to them. Ever. It could ruin that whole ‘heartless-bitch’ vibe I’ve got going for me.
I like Poppy for how passionate she gets about things. Like her friends, and her scrapbooks, and her parties. And I like her for how she keeps going even when it’d be a hell of a lot easier not to, and I like her for how she never gives up on people, even when they don’t make it easy on her, and I like her for how she’s never scared of anything, even when she really, really should be, and I like her for how she’s so nice, even to people who don’t deserve it, and I like her for her dedication and her loyalty to the village, and I like her for much she cares about everyone, and everything, I like her for how smart she is and how she can think on her feet like that, and I even like her for her energy, even when it’s exhausting.
I like Guy Diamond for his loyalty to his friends, and I like him for how he always puts everyone else first, no matter what. I like him for his sense of humor, and I like him for how he tries really hard to make sure everyone’s happy and having a good time. I like him for how he can be the life of the party, and still low-key at the same time, and I like him for how he stands up for everyone, no matter who they are. I like him for how he doesn’t make me hug him just because his bracelet went off, if he knows I’m not in the mood, and I like him for how he’s okay with quiet, sometimes, and doesn’t feel the need to talk all the time, and I like him for how he can make everyone in the room smile just by walking through the door.
I like Biggie for how much he loves everyone. I like him for how much time he spends taking care of other people, I like him for how you can always find him looking after other people, and I like him for how you can always count on him when you need help, or advice, or even just somebody to be there. I like him for how he always does the right thing, even when it isn’t easy, and I like him for how he never lets things go to his head, even when he does something really amazing. I like him for how he listens to everyone, and I like him for how he always tries to get me to come to his pod for dinner every time he sees me, and I like him for how he’s always recommending books for me to read, and I like him for how he knows what to say to make you feel better, and I like him for how much he loves animals, and how he takes in every stray he meets, and how he’d probably adopt baby predators if we didn’t tell him no, and I like him for how he won’t ever hurt anything, or anyone.
I like Satin for how, even if she doesn’t always get sarcasm, she doesn’t say it’s mean, or unnecessary, and I like her for how much she loves Chenille, and I like her for how she’s always the first to apologize every time they get into one of their fights, and I like her for how she doesn’t make me feel stupid for still not being good at sewing, and she doesn’t tease me even when my stitches are really crooked, and I like her for how she never holds a grudge, and I like her for how she doesn’t let me get uncomfortable at parties, because she’ll talk to me or pull me onto the dance floor with her before I can start to panic, and I like her for how she’s always up for something new, and I like her for how she takes a literal eternity to read a book, even when it’s a hundred pages, and she’ll actually toss the book at me if I tease her too much about it, and I like her for how she gave me a comb for Christmas and pretended it wasn’t a comment about my hair, even though it definitely, one hundred percent was, but she’s too nice to come out and say it, and I like her for how we tease Chenille together, and I like her for how, sometimes, if I get up before the sun, I can run into her around the village, because she got up to see the sunrise, too.
I like Chenille for how intelligent and resourceful she is, and I like her for how confident she is, and I like her for how she’s the only one, except me, who thinks some of the adventures Poppy’s dragged us on are too dangerous, or completely unnecessary. I like her for how she’s quick to adhere to a routine, and I like her for how much she cares about Satin, even if she doesn’t show it, and I like her for how she gets my sarcasm, and I don’t need to tell her I was being sarcastic, and I like her for how she’s sarcastic right back. I like her for how she’s not afraid to tell it like it is, and I like her for how, even when she gives her friends a really hard time, she won’t let anyone else do it, no matter what. I like her for how she listens, even if she pretends she doesn’t care, and I like her for how honest she is.
I like Cooper for the way he’s always a good friend, and he’ll always support you, he’ll always stick it out with you, even if he doesn’t always understand what it is you’re dealing with in the first place. I like Cooper for the way he’s never stopped being himself, even though I know there’s more than a few trolls who haven’t always made it easy on him. I like Cooper because he’s always got the best intentions, and I like Cooper for how he really does just want to help people, even if it doesn’t always work out that way. I like Cooper for how he says what he’s thinking, and I like Cooper for how he’s always up for a hike or a day out in the forest with me, and I like Cooper for how he can find the good in anything, anywhere, even if you threw him in the seventh circle of hell. I like Cooper for how he’s always ready to help anyone, and I like Cooper for how he brightens up every bad day, even when he’s not trying.
I like DJ Suki for how laid-back and easygoing she is, and how she doesn’t get worked up about much. I like DJ Suki for how enthusiastic she can get about her music, and how she’s always up to hear a new song, and I like her for her sense of humor, even if it’s kind of off-the-wall sometimes. I like her for how hard she works on her music, to make sure it’s perfect, to give the village her best, and I like how she’s always up for anything, and I like her for how she always tells the truth, even when she doesn’t want to, or she’s scared. I like her for how she doesn’t let things get to her too much, and I like her for how she doesn’t care too much what other people think of her, and I like her for how she never stops being her. I like her for how she says what she wants to say, and I like her for how if you try and have her over for a sleepover, she’s going to drop off at some point, even though Poppy says the whole point is to stay up all night.
I like Smidge for how dedicated and diligent she is, how she won’t stop her workout until she’s hit her goal, and I like her for how she’s always up for a morning run with me. I like her for how she starts really stupid arguments with Guy, just to fuck with him, and I like her for how much she loves Poppy, how loyal she is to Poppy. I like her for how open and expressive she is, about everyone, about everything, and I like her for how opinionated and passionate she is about things, and I like her for how she can kick anyone’s ass in an arm-wrestling competition (including mine). I like her for how she throws herself into everything she loves - her fitness, her favorite holidays, her time with her friends, Poppy’s parties - without holding back at all. And I especially like her for how she’s always the first to deck someone who’s hurt Poppy’s feelings.
And none of this ever ever ever gets back to them.
Buy More High School Ch 1, The New Kid
A/N: I know, I know, I'm doing it again. This is a one-shot (and not a one of you believes that I know…Not. A. One.) It was something I've been kicking around for awhile but a discussion with a friend (thanks Cas) got me thinking and here we are. I'm sure this has nothing to do with me running my daughter to forensics practices and competitions…nothing….you don't believe me, do you…you shouldn't. I work in education at the high school and college level in Kentucky. I have taken certain liberties with schedules, requirements, and all that jazz in the name of fiction. Since I don't want to harm anyone living I am making my own school that no one should attend…ever. Welcome to Buy More High School.
A/N2: A poster said how much they loved the Buy More High School, and so the name has changed...and the possibilities are now endless.  Disclaimer: I don't
Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck, I still go to school every day, it just depends on the day as to which school.
Charles Irving Bartowski walked into the principal's office at his alma matter. It had been several years since he had walked through these halls. It looked quite similar to the way he had left it. Charles, Chuck to his friends, had never had many visits to the principal's office, but today's was a bit of a surprise. Chuck had just started teaching at Echo Valley High, and he was looking forward to being the Computer Science teacher, it was kinda his thing. He entered the office and told the secretary who he was. He was ushered into a meeting with Principal Beckman.
"Good morning, Mr. Bartowski," Beckman said, greeting him.
"Good morning, Ma'am," Chuck replied. "Will Principal Graham be joining us today?"
"I'm afraid not, seems he died in an explosion," Beckman replied. Chuck blinked a few times. Beckman laughed. "Just joking, lighten up, Bartowski. He retired, one of the many cutbacks at the school." Chuck heaved a sigh of relief. "That's why I asked you to come today, to talk about these cutbacks." Chuck looked a little concerned. "It seems several teachers have retired rather than dealing with these changes, so you will be teaching other subjects." Chuck raised an eyebrow. "You will be teaching three Computer Science classes, and three classes of the arts." Chuck smiled and Beckman returned it, knowing Chuck's background dabbling in theater and singing. "You will teach one choir, and two theater classes, and since you don't have an actual degree in this subject you will have a co-teacher."
"Why doesn't a teacher with a degree just teach it?" Chuck asked. Beckman grimaced.
"Everyone with a degree in those fields retired," she admitted. "Your co-teacher doesn't have a degree in those fields either but has helped in many productions."
"That's good," Chuck replied. "I get along with everybody, well except one teacher yesterday at the faculty mixer, and that really wasn't my fault."
"What happened?" Beckman asked.
"I was getting some punch and turned into her and dumped it right on down the front of her purple blouse. It was a very nice blouse," Chuck said with regret. Beckman nodded. "Morgan then started on about her being Vicky Vale which annoyed her to no end."
"Mr. Grimes has that kind of affect on people," Beckman agreed.
"I've known Morgan for years," Chuck said. "What does he teach?"
"He teaches English with a concentration in critical thinking," Beckman answered. Chuck seemed confused, he knew his friend well, and teaching English…just not something he expected. "To be honest, he wings it most days, but his students do well on the state tests and he keeps order, so…." Chuck nodded.
"Principal Beckman, what about the teacher I…well…spilled my drink on? Any chance she would be my co-teacher." Chuck asked. Beckman waved her hand.
"Well, the chances of it being the same teacher are slim. Also, you'll need to work on an after school project so I have decided since you and Miss Walker will be co-teaching the arts classes, you will also help her with forensics."
"That's great, I always have loved those CSI shows," Chuck said.
"This forensics deals with speech and debate," Beckman replied.
"Then why not call it speech and debate?" Chuck asked. Beckman shrugged.
"I have no idea," she admitted. "I will also pair you with Miss Walker for covering required football games, basketball games, and dances. If the mood strikes the two of you, by all means, cut a rug."
"Sounds easy enough," Chuck replied. "What, no, no fraternizing rules?" he asked, grinning.
"Chuck, this is a high school, I don't care what you do on your own time, if you two dance, just be appropriate," Beckman said.
"Is that a problem with the kids at these dances?" Chuck asked. Beckman just stared at him. "I'll just YouTube it," he said, making a note. She nodded and proceeded.
"Just so you know many of the forensics matches will take place in other parts of the state and an overnight stay is required," Beckman said. Chuck nodded.
"One, question, you keep saying Miss Walker, what is her first name?"
"Sarah," Beckman replied. Chuck blanched.
"She wouldn't happen to be, oh, I don't know, tallish, say 5'9" without heels, blond hair, blue eyes that can turn very stormy when mad and some would call, oh, very attractive?"
"She was the woman you upset yesterday isn't she?" Beckman asked. Chuck nodded. Beckman shook her head. "It figures," she muttered.
"Anything else I should know?" Chuck asked.
"No," she began, then thought. "Oh, yes there is one more warning, stay away from the boiler room."
"What's wrong with the boiler room?"
"Jeff the maintenance man stays in there with his co-worker Lester Patel," Beckman said. She looked around and leaned forward. Chuck leaned in with her. "Those two are creepy." Chuck nodded.
"So about Miss Walker," Chuck said.
"Except for your computer science classes, you'll be with her," Beckman said.
"Including our planning period?" Chuck asked.
"Yes, two will have the language classroom and the computer lab side by side for the first three periods," Beckman explained. "She'll have two Spanish classes and a French class. Then you'll do choir during lunch, not ideal I know, planning during fifth, and theater in sixth and seventh." Chuck nodded.
"But she doesn't like me," Chuck said.
"Mr. Bartowski, what makes you think I like you?" Chuck stared at her. "I like you fine Chuck, and I'm sure as soon as Miss Walker gets over the fact you have her mentor's job that was basically forced to retire for you to be hired and that you spilled punch on her, it will all be fine." Chuck stood there with his mouth opened. "Oh come on, Chuck, we all know the big deal your mom was in this district and that you're her son."
"But my mother had nothing to do with me getting this job…did she?" Beckman shrugged.
Chuck found himself in the theater room where the last three classes of the day would be taught. He was looking at an old lesson plan from the past year and the books they could use in class. A couple of times he swore he saw a wisp of blonde pass the doorway, and the third time it went by, he had had enough.
"Hello, is someone there?" he called out. He saw a head peak around the corner, a scowl on her face.
"Did you need something?" she asked, the tone quite unpleasant.
"No, more like seeing if you needed something, since you seemed to be checking me out," Chuck said. As soon as the words left his mouth he knew…
"What are you trying to say?" she asked, walking into the room, looking more than a little irritated.
"Checking me out in the sense that you were trying to be a good coworker and make sure I was in the right room and had everything I needed to be a successful teacher for our students," he said, pulling that one straight from his backside.
"Oh? I didn't even know you were in here," she snapped off.
"My apologies," he said. She nodded and turned. "Also, again, I must apologize about your blouse, can I pay to have it cleaned, replaced." She turned back to him.
"That was my lucky blouse," she replied.
"Wasn't that lucky yesterday, was it?" Chuck said, grinning. The grin quickly fell from his face. What was with his terminal case of foot in mouth disease? The look on her face…he thought it would scare terrorists. "I was trying to be funny."
"Try harder," she said. "Look, I know you are a big deal around here," she began.
"I'm really not," he countered.
"Obviously you're use to talking over people," she went on, looking even more irritated. He opened his mouth to retort, found himself in a catch-22 and stopped, frustrated. He swore for a second she flashed a smile like she was proud of herself. "But, since I have experience, I'll handle these classes and you stay out of the way. Just act like one of the students and listen."
"Oh, you do that," Chuck said, turning to check out on of the music books. Sarah looked even madder, but Chuck didn't notice. She started to leave, but she couldn't. Chuck Bartowski, son of the legendary teacher Mary Bartowski, the one who she was sure got by on his name. Her mentor had been let go, and this guy comes along. He wasn't getting away that easily.
"I do what?" she snapped off. Chuck's head shot up, and a look of fear gripped his face. He slowly turned toward her.
"I'm sorry," he stammered.
"You just said, you do that, very hoity toitally, I might add," she replied.
"Is that a word?" he asked, and then saw her face and realized that was a dumb move on his part. "You use the Pedagogy method for teaching, that's all."
"Well, it does mean children, root word paidi, I am an expert in languages, might I add," she said. "Whereas Andragogy, andras root word for man, basically means adult education."
"Right," Chuck said, quickly. "And, in the languages you teach I'm sure you're the expert, I mean there are no children in your class who that's all their parents speak at home, right?" Chuck paused. "You do teach Spanish, right?" A thundercloud gripped Sarah's face. Chuck knew he had made his point, but he wasn't sure it was worth the cost. He raced ahead. "I'm not saying total Andragogy either, but you've got to admit, in these classes we're not always the experts and they have experiences that we don't. Like in Computer Science, I know a lot, but some of these teens…they know things I haven't even heard of." Sarah's face let go of some of the anger.
"I'll admit, I haven't thought of Andragogy in that sense," she said softly.
"Look, here's the one thing about the field I'm in, everything is constantly changing, I know languages aren't that fluid," he said. Sarah nodded. "So, you hear Andragogy and all you think of is "Adult learning" and while that's true, it's the concepts inside that make it work, so if I can take something from a concept and apply it to my classroom and help my students, why shouldn't I?" Sarah nodded reluctantly.
"You have a point," she conceded. He really was good, and that made her mad, thought she knew that made no sense.
"One other thing, and I'll shut up before I put my whole leg back in my mouth," he said. Sarah smiled, which made her mad. Why did he have to be so funny, and why was his hair so long, it looked unprofessional, a lot of those stupid teenage girls would want to run their fingers through it. "I never had my mom as a teacher. She stayed out of my way, educationally. She didn't want me pulled into her orbit. I am my own person. I didn't ask for any special favors to get this job. All I want to do is teach, and help kids." Sarah nodded again and decided to extend an olive branch for the day.
"So, how about I show you around," Sarah said. Chuck nodded.
"I'd like that," he replied. He stood and followed her. She took him down the hall and they saw a tall man, a little shorter than Chuck, but very bulky.
"That's John Casey," she said. "He's in charge of family sciences." Chuck gave her a look like she was pranking him. "Makes the best quiche you ever tasted."
"Really?" he asked, Sarah nodded. They passed another classroom.
"You already know Morgan, beside him is Roan Montgomery. He teaches history and political science, although he does tend to focus on some of the scandals in history," she said, giving him a look.
"Really?" he asked again. She nodded.
"Oh, he also drinks quite a bit, and we're all fairly certain he and Beckman have something going on." Chuck shook his head. "They've been rumored to be on and off for years. She was a dirty blonde back in the 80s."
"It was the 80s, everyone was a dirty blonde," Chuck replied. Sarah had to agree. They entered the gym.
"Over there, is Coach Big Mike," Sarah said, pointing to his office. "He's probably busy eating a sub, you don't want to see that. Come on, speaking of food, let's go to the cafeteria." They headed that direction. "Over there is Lou, she's in charge of the cafeteria, and she makes the best food in the world for what she's given."
"Square pizza on Fridays with a funny colored jell-o?" Chuck asked hopefully. Sarah shook her head.
"They did away with the square pizza," she replied sadly.
"What is this country coming to?" he lamented. They walked on, and Sarah's face began to grow angry. "Something wrong?"
"Oh, I'm coming up on five teachers that I just don't like for some reason," Sarah said. "The first is Calculus and Physics taught by Daniel Shaw. I think something exploded around him, making him have the personality of a block of wood."
"Seems a very attractive fellow," Chuck said.
"If you're into that sort of thing,'" Sarah replied. Chuck looked at her, and she was grinning. "He's okay to look at, but literally that's it. Now the next two men are attractive as well, but they have a superiority complex that is just overboard."
"Not a fan of any of them?" Chuck asked.
"Seriously, it's just exhausting to talk to them," Sarah said shaking her head. "Bryce Larkin is our accounting and business teacher, and Cole Barker is our other English teacher. He's always giving Morgan grief because of his English accent. Next up is Jill Roberts, Biology, and Chemistry teacher, she's very good, I just don't like her."
"Any reason?" Chuck asked. Sarah shook her head. "Maybe there's just bad chemistry there." Sarah stopped walking and just stared at him. "Right, no bad jokes, be funnier." She wanted to laugh, but that would just encourage him. She began walking again.
"The last is Hannah Yee, she is our Algebra teacher," Sarah said. "She's been looking for her ex for a while, don't ask why." Chuck stopped walking.
"Oh, thank God you're not a cannibal," Chuck said. Sarah just looked at him. "Well, I was trying to figure out why a smart, beautiful woman like you was single, and it was either you were a cannibal or not funny," he said grinning. Sarah didn't return his grin. Inside she was giggling, but he didn't get to know that. "You don't like me, do you?"
"I don't hate you, if that helps," she said, turned, and started walking again. He knew where they were going, and after that terrible joke, he knew she was going to rub it in his face. "Here is the trophy case, and as you can see, we have on display the national teacher of the year, Mary Bartowski."
"I know, I've seen it before," Chuck said. "I'm really sorry for whatever I've done."
"Chuck, we have to work together, not be best buds," Sarah said.
"Yeah, but I like people to like me," Chuck replied. Sarah shrugged.
"You don't get everything you want in life," she replied. "Go home, the next two days we need to get ready for the start of classes. Tomorrow we'll work on our joint classes and forensics." Chuck nodded and held out his hand. She shook it. "I'll try, Chuck. I've lived a life where I trust very few people, and just because you say you're trustworthy doesn't mean you are." Chuck snapped his mouth shut. "For the record, the cannibal, thing….it was funny." Chuck did a little "yes" fist pump with that. She shook her head at him. "Go home, I'm going to work your ass off tomorrow."
"Miss Walker, such language, in a school," Chuck said, grinning.
"Wait til the kids cuss you out, good-bye, Chuck," she said, turning and walking away. Chuck sighed, looked around, and headed home.
Chuck pulled into his new house he had just purchased. He got out of the car with his glass of lemonade. He had only been inside once, heck he had only been there once, the realtor had handled everything else. The one time he was there, no one was around, so he was excited to meet his neighbors.
"What the hell!?" he heard behind him. He spun, scared, and dumped his lemonade on the person right behind him…Sarah Walker.
"I'm so sorry!"
"What are you doing? Are you following me?" she asked. She was angry and her stormy blue eyes were blazing. He wondered what it was like for her to look at someone she had intense romantic feelings for….he remembered she had asked him a question.
"This is my house, I bought it," he said. "Why are you here?" Sarah's face was indescribable.
"This house," she said softly. "You bought…THIS house." She just nodded, turned, walked across the lawn to the house next door, opened the door, turned and looked at Chuck. "Nice to meet you….neighbor," and went inside leaving Chuck standing there.
"Oh, boy," he muttered.
A/N: I have basically just turned a high school into a Buy More….I would like to apologize to the entire education system….If you're interested, I could do more…take care…til next time
Here I go. Girl, Ravenclaw, patronus dolphin, favorite subject Care of Magical Creatures and Potions. Love art, drawing, reading, procrastinating, dogs. Favorite time of the day is dusk. I'm 5'3, chubby, short, straight hair with bangs, naturally brown, but I dye it regularly pinks, blues and or purples, heavily tattooed, I have kind of a 50's vibe. Don't mind being shipped with either boy or girl. Looking forward to this!
Hello lovely :) I kinda got a little carried away with this one. I doubt that all ship requests will be this detailed, but idk, the future is full of possibilites! Also, thank you for your constant support of my blog and I. You’ve been great!
I ship you with Luna Lovegood!
How’d you meet? It took a little while for you two to notice each other, but you finally saw each other during the end of your fifth year (her sixth year) when everyone was sitting in the Great Hall after the Battle of Hogwarts. It dawned on you that you had seen this girl during DA meetings for the last two years, and she had led it during Snape’s rein of terror, and she took note when you shot a protection spell over her when a death eater tried to use the killing curse on her - even if you simply moved on and forgot about it seconds later.
Who spoke to the other first? She spoke to you first, approaching you from the other side, rattling on about rackspurts, and how they would be infesting everyone’s heads now. You listened intently, barely focusing on the words, but more so her voice itself, and played along in the conversation until it was the evening and agreed to write to each other over the summer after the memorials were over.
Who initiated the first kiss? You initiated the first kiss. It was the first quidditch match of the season during your sixth year and her seventh year. Gryffindor versus Slytherin - Gryffindor won, and the excitement you saw in her eyes made you lean into kiss her without thinking about it. Although she was shocked at first, she kissed back and grabbed your hand, before you both cheered for the Gryffindor team, who were landing.
Who asked out the other first? You asked her out first, on the first Hogsmeade trip of the same year. You spent the day all around, spending some time in Zonko’s before heading to the Three Broomsticks for lunch. You both ordered a butterbeer and shared a plate of muggle french fries - something you learned about on your summer trip to America, and a guilty pleasure of Madam Rosmerta’s, so you suggested she start making them, which she did. You watched the sunset that afternoon together, wrapped up in each other’s scarves and cloaks, laughing and cuddling at the base of a tree near cottages in Hogsmeade before Professor Flitwick called for you to return.
When did you know that you were in love? You realized your love first! It was a simple thing that made you discover your true feelings - you were cuddling in front of the fire in the Ravenclaw Common Room, laying on floor, which you both preferred more than the couch, anyway. She was going on about thestrals, which you could both see, and as the fire reflected in her bright blue eyes, you realized that you could spend the rest of your days with her. But all you did in that moment was take the giant blanket around you, pull it over her shoulders, and pulled her closer to you before planting a gentle kiss on her lips. She was a little startled, but smiled and kissed you back, before continuing her monologue.
Who picks the activities for dates more? She picks the activities! She always has such creative ideas for dates that you can’t help but let her imagination go free with them, and there has yet to be a date that went poorly! (There were some close calls, however - including one where you went down to the Black Lake during her NEWT exams and got multiple detentions when Professor Sprout saw you swimming in the middle of the lake - but you didn’t see him smiling before about how nice you looked together as a couple.)
Who proposed? You proposed! It was the Christmas after you graduated from Hogwarts, and you were both at the Burrow with the Weasleys and their spouses, and you took her outside to the backyard and professed your love - something she knew you found a bit cheesy and wasn’t really your style, but for her, you’d do anything - and showed her the ring. It was mainly silver, but had flickers of bronze covering it with deep blue gemstones, perfectly matching the Ravenclaw colours. She shed a few tears, and you did too, before she pulled you in for a magnificent kiss and accepted the ring. You heard the entirety of the Weasleys and the rest in the Burrow cheering, and Ron, George, Harry, and Ginny were whooping and hollering. You both dissolved into giggles as they ran out and tackled you both into hugs.
What do you like to do together? You do everything together! You two enjoy every activity under the sun, as long as you’re together - you can spend the entire day sitting near each other in the library, sitting in silence and reading books that you find interesting, or you can spend the day down at the lake near your house in Northern Ireland, swimming or laying on the grass during the summer. You take a yearly trip to a new country around the world for the end of July-middle of August (This year - New Zealand!) and often spend time hanging out with Ron, Hermione, Harry, and Ginny, as well as the rest of the Weasleys, and much of the DA!
want one?
