I had put my foot down about a really trying friendship recently (again) and I've felt a bit guilty about it because I don't like being the 'bad guy'. adrian: sooo he kind of word vomits all the time which means a lot of his compliments are just like. jumbles of words that don't really make sense. that being said because he does word vomit a lot and he's naturally very affectionate that means there's like. no end to the compliments even if they're really simple or dumb. i think probably the nicest compliment he's given me was probably saying for how often i act stupid im actually not and he appreciates that at least at times i can help him with things he has little to no experience with. even if he's older he's still got things he knows nothing about.

as for nicest compliment ive given him its really hard to say because im not much of the type to compliment, it either makes me feel really shy or like i dont know if the words im using are right so i just Dont. but i def try more with my partners bc ik its unfair to never compliment them, especially in adrian's case bc he does it all the time. i try to give him little ones just on his appearance and stuff but i think the one he probably appreciated most was just me telling him he's fucking fantastic at dnd. like dming or playing a character, he's great at roleplaying and voices and coming up with things to move the plot along and memorizing actions and spells etc etc. im fucking dogshit at all of it so its like watching the grandmaster of nerd shit do his thing and not break a sweat. very cute but also very impressive.

daryl: now for daryl, we're both on the same page with compliments. he doesn't know how to choose the right words and he isnt very good with emotional stuff so his compliments mostly consist of "you look pretty" if i dress up or "good job" whenever that's applicable. one of the compliments that he's given me that rly stuck out tho was literally just him appreciating me being patient with him bc i wouldn't consider myself a patient person in general but when it comes to emotional stuff i try to give him as much grace as possible bc i also want some myself. we're both super stunted in that department so i try to be lenient lol

nicest compliment ive given him is probably in a similar vein, ive thanked him at least a couple times for taking care of me bc he really doesnt have to but its something that really feels special to me bc i cant remember the last time ive had somebody actually do that for me. actions speak louder than words for me as well so simple shit like letting me get extra rest, cooking and cleaning up make me just as happy as a compliment.

forgot 2 post but here's the latest camping setup. chairs are off to the side because we throw a tablecloth over my car to use as a screen and watch movies lol

what I got right since our previous trip:

tarp poles were a great investment!! they created lots more covered area for our site to shade us from the sun and also protect us from the rain. I was even able to cook in the rain by putting my grill at the edge of the tarp cover. nothing melted either lol

the little collapsible grill worked great!! 1000% easier to light and clean up compared to the mini Weber grill I used before. New grill has immensely more airflow under the coals and the ash plate is larger and detachable.

packing prepped dehydrated food make cooking lighter and easier. I could have even skipped the cooler because the only fridge item we had was eggs but it was nice because I use frozen water bottles as ice packs and this gave us some ice cold water to drink.

Bringing a collapsible wash tub and camp soap really came in handy. I didn't think about washing anything last time and made a huge mess trying to cook, which made things worse.

what I learned from this trip:

I need a sleeping pad. I got one for Dan and thought I could save money and not get one for myself but I wanna be comfy too...

I need another set of tarp poles to elevate the back end of the tarp and keep it off the top of the tent. our current situation messed up ventilation and also required us to add extra ropes to the tarp to hold up the sides that were slack and drooping because the tent propped the center up weird.

I would really like to get this cool collapsible and stackable 2 pc metal shelf set I saw on Amazon. it would be nice to have more work space for prepping food (you can see I was using a cooler...) and also I'd like to have a surface where I can set hot pans when I need to pull them off the grill. also more storage space would be nice and we could use them as a table when stacked.

I need to put our mallet in the tub of camping stuff so I don't forget it again... getting tent stakes into the ground by hand is a pain

I also forgot an oven mitt for holding the cast iron pan handle and a sponge for washing dishes too lol

should probably bring a small shovel. half our tarp ropes were secured to my car because the ground had too much gravel to shove stakes in.

I want to devise some kind of fold up screen that can easily hang from my car. we've been using a big tablecloth draped totally over the top of the car but that's huge and overkill. I bet I can make something smaller that folds up nice (just need to devise a sturdy yet collapsible pole to support the top edge of the screen. maybe a replacement tent pole?)

I need to buy or sew better bags for our sleeping bags because the ones that came with them are a fucking joke to repack. literally takes more time to pack up 2 sleeping bags than it takes to pack up the tent and 2 tarps.

We should bring gallon jugs of water in case the camp site has dubious water sources

I'll have a while to prepare for our next trip because I am not camping again until the weather dips below 80! >:(

Okay so I always but in 40%-45% like in the bag already savings I mean (this can obvs be adjusted to fit your own needs but if say keeping over 30% is key!)

And work around everything else in the steps below !!!

If I was brave enough I would send pictures of my last year budgeting plan and how I managed to save !! But I'm not 😭😭😭

the first step for me would be to list your monthly income !

Monthly is way easier to work with and easier to adjust in the long run !

Second would be list out things that have to be paid always. So fixed expenses.

I.e rent, MOT, bills, food ( for this I would highly recommend just having a monthly shopping of like say £20-25 - seems un do able but isnt !!! Frozen veggies are your best friend:)) gym membership, spotify, prime all of that.

Third which is super important for me at least would be to set out a like reward bonus for yourself.

( in cash preferably- like so once it's gone it's gone you know- like monthly rewards for yourself - sometimes you use it and sometimes you dont!! )

Fourth - ALWAYS SET AN EXTRA LIL FUND FOR THE UNEXPECTED THINGS!!! ( car crashes, dentist, medicine if your toaster breaks if your fridge breaks !! all of that lovely stuffs 😃)

So when you look at all that infront you- really just scrutinise it.

Like -

How much of that do you really need to spend?

Is there anything you can cut out on ?

This is super important at least to me bc then I see that yh shit - that is crazy I'm spending useless money )

I think that also keeping student loans separate is SUUUUPER SUUUUPER bc it just. Idk if anyone else is like this but seeing how much they expected from me to be able to learn always depressed me so I made a separate folder for that- made it pretty so it didnt look sooo bad lmao ) but I think the biggest part was getting to grips that I had all that to pay back!!!

Then like random things :

Concerts, events, holidays.

Like make sure you have them planned in advance and make separate funds for all of them.

To cater to what they need! Like for a concert- hotel and food money and merch buying and army bomb and a NEW OUTFITTTT lmao)

And yh - I think setting up a teeny amount for charity or to help ppl is always great aswell bc well idk you feel good and it does always come to find you- doesnt have to be a large amount. Maybe even a food box every month or smn cute and sweet like that !!

This is how I did it : ( kind of irrelevant and just abt silly me lmao but maybe itll help(?))

So i used to work night shifts at this horrible packing place ( it was freezing too but the pay was so good! It was £15-18 an hr ( sometimes even more )and I used to work from 11pm-4am 7 days a week like I didnt take a day off until I quit and i did it for 2 years ! That was like 50k but I had a lot of things to pay off and my parents wanted nearly all of it back off of me 😃)

This is also the NOT the job I wanted yk? Like I used to work with a bunch of stinky ass men and it sucked but I had to do it bc well my parents kicked me out bc I was non religious looool.

I was never enough and I just got kicked out yk? ( oh no not my sob story but just to put it into perspective sort of like I was fucking depressed my money was going like wildfire )

So I had to kind of take everything/every opportunity. They expected a lot back from me too in that way like alot of my learning was going to them :/)

From 5-7

I worked at a bakery ! Cooking and baking and having fun! That was the best job I had the pay wasnt all that but it was something and I needed everything I could get ! It wasnt everyday either but so and so.

I also am bilingual so that way I was able to get a job as a teacher in a daytime school teaching which I did voluntarily! For the first year !

( I had this routine for 2 years!!)

So like I was getting an okay amount from these jobs but god heavens I was spending so unnecessary.

Like a high price for a shit apartment where I would have to pay for things to get fixed to and that was really expensive.

My parents also took alot first year earnings and that's when I was like well shit I have nothing I really need to like get my shit together yk?

There was student loan (- I dont want to like envoke sympathy bc of all this I just wanna like say that my money was kind of slipping away yk I feel like I'm being annoying 😭😭😭 ) - and just a whole lot of wasting on food ( my biggest expenditure- at the time I was struggling with binge eating and bulimia so 🙃🙃 yh )

Dumb shit off amazon, and like just crap you know

Also car petrol and mot and car stuff. and bus and train fares just money can go so easily.

It was just super super tiring to have juggle all these balls at once but when I got the hang of it like doing all those steps I felt more free and more aware of myself and I was able to enjoy while still getting yk the most out of what I do.

I work as a translater/teacher now so the pay is good and like using these steps is how I got the most out of myself

Uh idk If this even makes sense anymore and I'm sorry if come off as bitch too

I don't mean to or come with a sob story

I just think its important to like realise that no matter what and who in your life demands things from you - you always have to choose to look after yourself first- how you choose too look after yourself is ultimately how you choose to look after others too ! Take good care of yourself - give yourself a clearer mind and you'll be able to see a bigger picture- outside of the one built for you !!

If your struggling with other issues - mental health too it can help bring clarity to that too ! Bc it's some sort of semblance.

Day Nineteen: Florence

So we had DnD early this morning and I'm coming to terms with the fact that when that happens, I just sleep all day until 12. I hate it, but it's four for four now. It's also making me realize how restricted my schedule is because of DnD. Like at home it makes sense because I don't go anywhere at night. But here I could have gone to the clubs or something. And the game was weeeeird. We got our two new characters and one of them is weeeeird. But the players are having fun so I can't argue much. I feel bad because everyday that I have DnD now since it's so early in the morning I grumble to myself 'How many more times do I have to do this??' And it takes me a whole hour to get truly awake.

I had the weirdest dream today too. I was in a pseudo cult? Like everyone around me was in it so you literally couldn't exist without being in the cult and joining on in their conversations, so i did. I ended up being part of one gang that was Dumplings (fuck the empenadas gang) and you couldn't touch the person's leg, it was an offensive gesture to be reprimanded through service and labor. But ohmygod one of the leaders did this gross experiment where the 'prophecy' said that a dog would be cut open, we would drink it's blood, and then it would be brought back to life. He did it with a toy dog and brought out a mixed drink for all of us to drink. I asked about bringing the toy dog back to life but he ignored me. There were also these *delicious* chocolate crepes. And I had bought a house but kept it mostly empty and my bus driver gave me shit about it because he knew I had bought it under a pseudonym and my neighbors wanted to be nice and throw me a housewarming party IN MY HOUSE so they broke in and did that. Freaking ridiculous.

Bro I'm hungry. I kinda wanna be home so I could just. Drive or get Doordash whenever I wanted instead of walking through the hot sun. Summer is just Not the tome to travel to new places. I think I'll do all of my exploration in Spring and Autumn from now on. It's so hot and I hate it cuz it makes me not wanna go anywhere.

It's so funny. We had a whole discussion last night about how we wished we were rich, and then the one rich girl said she wishes she was rich too and it's like. Bruh. You work for your dad's insurance firm for fun and ask them for money whenever you run out and your boyfriends buy you whatever you want and when we talk about a place you say "My parents parents a condo there" like bro. You ARE. Anyhow, I may be petty. Realizing that 13 year Olds and 21 year Olds are doing this trip means that they're probably having their parents pay for it while I'm here working myself and paying for this trip. It makes me feel a bit. Lesser. And of course I don't like that. Plus they're all so pretty and I can't be without my makeup which doesn't help.

We were supposed to go to the place where they shot Call Me By Your Name today but everyone woke up too late and was too tired. And I hurried to dress up and everything lol My back really hurts from yesterday though. Too many rock hits. And too much bad swimming. I did wash my hair in a very loose natural way though, so I hope it's okay. And it was really just letting water run through it instead of fully washing it with shampoo. I hope that's okay. I'm also realizing that the skin on my legs is weird... No matter how much Lotion I put on it it's never soft and supple. It's always stretchy and taugh, fish like. Or burn victim like. I don't like it. Especially with all the dark Strawberry legs dots.

I'm following a lot of the people here on Instagram now so I'm gonna have to set some privacy sorry reels lol And I have so many stories to get through... And stuff to send my parents too! Goodness it's a lot. And I'm so hungry.

One thing that annoys me about my roommates (and I know they're not on Tumblr so I can bitch) is that they really only cook for themselves, even when we have guests that they cook for themselves only and eat by themselves only. I had to ask our guest if she wanted to go out to eat since they didn't bother asking her, and mid way through us deciding where we would eat she interrupted to ask about the tickets for the trip they'd be taking. I usually don't like her type. And I can't be sure I entirely do. But I also can't help but be in awe of her a little. I walked our guest to the bus station afterwards and went shopping. I don't think I'll be going with them to the island trip though. I'll be on my period so it wouldn't be fun for me. I will keep it to go with my friend later~ ;)

Page 47. Happy Three Positive Years!

October 7, 2015. I was diagnosed. It was my mom's birthday. Amazing how time swiftly flies. It's been three difficult but amazing and awesome years.

It didn't really started that easy. Just like everyopne else, I had my struggles too. When I was diagnosed I had endured the side effects of my meds, disclosed my status to some close friends. Some, accepted me, some did not. I was called names like malandi, makati, mahilig, mapusok, maharot. I have been judged from here and there and I think I just got used to it anyway. I didn't really know how they come up with those words just by knowing that I am a PLHIV. I was even lectured of having a long term relationship. I mean, What the heck? The relationships I had has always been years. So why lecture me about long term relationships?

Ever since I was diagnosed my work changed too. I left my previous job. I was already a webinar trainer there but decided to leave to start a new life. I was jobless for 6 months. I moved to a different company where I believe I excelled and just got my fifth promotion. I think my virus brings me luck. lol! Although, someone in my workplace spread the word about my status which made me sad, but I had to move forward. You cant really please everyone and tell everyone not to do what they do. I was able to get over it and it doesn't even bother me anymore that some of my officemates might know my status.

In those years, I also looked for my own support. I looked for people like me and tried to ask them how they coped up with the situation. I tried to blend myself in their group and community and I was actually amazed that most of them are actually just like normal people. I have been a regular reader of Iam H. Positive and has been a fan of Billy Santo. I learned the language, where we called ourselves pusit or short for positive. we called the meds a lot of names and made fun of our conditions. We used to put it in our expressions such as "juice colored! lakas makaubos ng CD4!" hahaha! I really find that funny. We sometimes made fun of the OI's some has gotten in the past but not really in an insulting way. I made a lot of friends. We laughed and cried and hangout and dined together as blood brothers.

I also had some friends who lost the battle. A family friend of ours who was diagnosed late. He died with a lot of complications and my uncle was there with him and paid most of the expenses. even after he died, his family kept in touch with us and always invited us fo weekend and holiday stays on their resort. One is my good friend Jose. We dated once. He shared his life story with me. He was form the province and was sent by his parents here in manila to live on his own. he didn't live life that good at first but he was able to get on his own feet. He never got the chance to get back in their province and its really sad that he had to go back there with just his remains. When he got diagnosed, I was really sad. I wanted to see him. He kept asking me to see him and catch up and I really wanted to but my partner that time and mom wouldn't let me. I wanted to encourage him, support him and make him feel that he is not alone in his battle. I wanted to tell him that I am also a PLHIV and look at me now. I'm all okay. I asked for all the help that I can to help him out but eventually... he died. It has always been my regret. Then another friend died, and another, and a partner of a friend and a partner of a coworker. This actually led me to do my advocacy. To at least do something to stop people from dying.

Since i was diagnosed, I had two relationships. The first one I had was a Serodiscordant Relationship. Meaning, he is not a PLHIV. The relationship went on for 2 years and 3 months. At first, everything was okay. We decided to focus on our jobs and set the relationship aside. It wasn't an easy relationship. I've always been cautious and probabyly had the self stigma as I always fear that I might share the virus to him. We did set the relationship aside until it felt like there is no relationship anymore. But we're good. I don't wanna go into details anymore.

Then my present one. My happy pill. We just had our first month. I am 3 years older than him but whenever I'm with him, I feel like a kid with my daddeh! haha! I love you hub. I like how he encourage me to do better and be the best. Whenever I'm with him, I feel like there's a whole big world out there that I haven't seen. I feel so naive. Being with him just makes me feel safe. It's like I can do everything and no one will ever ever hurt me. I like the way he would look at me and give that smirk. I like the way he hugs me like there's no tomorrow and that he will never ever let me go. I like the way he hold my hands and brings me all these surprises. This is my first seroconcordant relationship.

In the family, My cousins have always been supportive of all the things I do. I disclosed my status with 3 of my closest cousins and they all accepted me. Although my mom knew my condition, she's always paranoid that something might happen to me, that I might get sick or not eating well or not sleeping well or just stressing myself out. She would always remind me that I am her only son and I will forever be her baby. Whenever I am at home, she would cook for me, buy all my favorite fruits like kiwi, honeydew and persimon. prepare all my favorite dishes then we would bake together and shop together and I would tell her all my PLHIV adventures. She just couldn't stop herself from worrying and I guess that's just what moms do. I love you ma. But I am a grown up now and I have to live my life. Dad however doesn't have any clue about my status. Or maybe he does. lol. As always, dad is a good adviser. a good listener. The thing is... His HIV 101 is so outdated. Maybe one of these days I can finally tell him.

I learned to make my circle very small and close and yet get to enjoy life justy like any normal person. I dedicated portion of my time in the advocacy and a part of that is this blog to tell everyone that there is definitely life even after HIV. :)
