Nothing against OP, but I've seen this phenomenon so many times where people will put actual canon gay relationships in their "non-canon queerbaiting gays" list and it's kind of offensive.
The most egregious offense: Yuri on Ice (this is in the original tags)
Yuri on Ice is a romance anime. Full stop. It was a sensation when it released for having a canon queer relationship explicitly shown on screen. The characters get engaged on screen. Yuri on Ice isn't even subtext, it is the entire plot of the story that Victor falls in love with Yuri. (OP doesn't have an age listed so maybe they're too young to remember how big YOI was)

Second offense (less offensive than YOI though): Hannigram.
Hannibal and Will Graham are canonically romantically interested in each other. Will asks, on screen, "Is Hannibal in love with me?" to which Bedelia replies "Yes" and then asks if Will reciprocates. He doesn't answer and the scene cuts, implying that he is conflicted, but that the answer is likely "yes."
Aside from that, there is plenty of subtext to choose from. Hannibal making a heart out of a dead guy to send to Will, their talks about love, the fact that they had a daughter together for a bit. It's not very subtle.

Next offense: Good Omens
Many people picked up from day one that Crowley and Aziraphale had romantic undertones to their story. I admit I have not seen season 2 yet, but I do know they kiss, I know it's tragic, and I know that Aziraphale's wiki says this:

They have an on screen kiss. I don't understand what more people could possibly want to make a queer relationship "canon." Do they need to turn to the camera and say it?
The point of this post is just to say: please engage with the media you consume instead of writing it off as "non-canon queerbaiting" immediately. I keep seeing people, not just OP, putting real queer media into the same category as something like Sherlock, and it pains me. The people who worked on these shows worked so hard to bring you representation and a real queer relationship. It's not cool to erase their efforts. Before you make a post like this, anyone out there reading this, at least check the wiki.
I have my ✨️ spark ✨️ back (hyperfixated on a new gay non-canon relationship)
#i actually did a double take when I saw yuri on ice listed as non-canon#hannibal nbc#hannigram#so many people just blindly assume hannibram is queer-baiting???#did we watch the same show#aziracrow#queerbaiting#i just had to get this off my chest sorry op#too many people can't recognize genuine gay representation as canon anymore#it makes me sad#they're so quick to write it off#like no! hannibal does love will! yuri and victor get engaged! aziraphale and crowley kiss!#what more could you want#i know the aziracrow kiss isn't a good thing but a tragic kiss is STILL A KISS#hannibal spoilers#good omens spoilers#good omens season 2#being able to read subtext#and understanding that subtext is a part of storytelling#is so important#subtext doesn't mean it isn't canon#even though all of these examples are EXPLICITLY canon#btw a queer couple doesn't have to kiss on screen for it to be canon#btw a queer couple doesn't have to say 'we are together now' for it to be canon#read between the lines#most of the story occurs between the lines#especially when censorship is involved

cw: violence. torture. waterboarding. hurt/no comfort.
simon x reader. implied soap x reader if you squint.
i haven't written in a long time. it's good to be back.
part one | part two
Traitor.
That's what Price thinks as Simon and Soap drag you from the table, nearly choking on your food as they give you no time to understand what's going on.
Alarms ring in your ears as you force the piece of stale bread down your throat, trying to stand on your feet but they're taller than you, so your feet end up dangling, useless. You take a deep breath, your voice shaking as much as you are.
"What's going on? Is this some kind of sick joke?", you ask, looking at Simon, desperate to find an explanation for this other than the anger and torment in his eyes.
Simon doesn't answer. Nobody does. Soap's grip tightens, but he doesn't say anything, his expression hard.
No.
No.
You can tell they are not joking when you realize they're taking you downstairs. Sweat rolls down your face, fear creeping from the base of your neck to your toes, making you snap. You beg them to tell you what's going on, to explain why you're being dragged down there. You kick and struggle, a sob ripped deep from your chest as you start screaming, begging for a reaction. And then, pain.
Tears fill your eyes when it's Simon who hits your stomach with his fist, effectively shutting you up. You can smell the blood from past tortures mixed with bleach, and, distantly, the scent of forgotten wet rags. There's something salty in the air, and that's when you freeze, the pain in your stomach becoming nothing compared to the fear that grows in your chest.
They know you.
You've been with them for nine years. They know your fears.
"No. No. Please. Simon, Johnny— Please, please, please" you beg, sobbing as you can't do anything but go limp and heavy in their grip, doing the best you can to keep them from tying you to the chair. But it's useless.
Stars and colors dance behind your eyes as a fist connects with the side of your chin. You wonder if it would be better if they made you pass out right now. Maybe if you bite your tongue, it could—
"Gag her" Price tells them.
He's trained you for nine years.
He knows you.
You try to bite down on Johnny's fingers as he stuffs your mouth with an old rag, but it's difficult when your senses are unfocused after such a hard punch. The rag wet and disgusting, the scent and the taste making you sob again, shaking your head, your eyes big as you look at Simon.
Please.
Then a wet rag is pressed to your face. You inhale sharply as cold buckets of salty water are dropped right on your face, the cloth making it impossible for you to breathe. Salty water fills your lungs, making you choke and cough around the gagging rag.
You can hear questions, accusations, but you're paralized with fear, with pain and grief.
Grief.
They've been your friends, your family for so long. It's impossible to tell if you'll live through this. It's impossible for you to think of them as anything but monsters.
You know they usually did this with traitors, with enemies when it was necessary.
And you know they never enjoy it.
You've scolded Simon for smoking so late at night, you've had so many drinks next to him when he can't even speak. Simon often flinches awake from nightmares, startling you and then sharing quiet nights side to side.
You know this.
But then Simon hits your face again, taking the rag out of your mouth, and you can't find the love you have for him. It's expelled from your body with each hard cough, with each drop of blood falling from your nose.
"Did you not hear me?" Price demands, his arms crossed. "I'll ask one more time, then."
Smack.
Your chest is heaving, the fear so paralizing you can't even feel each punch as much as you should.
"What did you tell them?" Price continues, not looking one bit anxious for you to answer. He stands in front of you, his feet dry despite the salt burning your lungs.
"I don't know what you're talking about" you manage, looking up at Price, your eyes wide and bloodshot.
With a hard yank on your hair until your head is thrown back again, you're gagged once more, and the rag is pressed to your face. The salty water keeps on filling your lungs, unable to breathe, unable to cough around the gag.
You can't say anything. You truly don't know shit.
Hours later, when it becomes clear you won't speak, Price kicks you across the chest, hard, and the chair flips back.
You're tied up to the chair, exhausted and wet, your lungs burning with salt.
Memories of you as a child, nearly drown to death by your cousins, fill your mind. It had been a good day, until it wasn't.
Simon had held you when you told him, kissed you, and tucked you in for a good night sleep.
Johnny managed to make you crackle when you told him, patting your head, and saying your cousin had awful skills.
Now, there's nothing. Nothing but pain, and the burning in your lungs.
The door springs open, and the three men leave.
Only then do you close your eyes, passing out.

Hi!
Can I request a yandere platonic batfam with a willing readers like your most recent fics who is a total bookworm
Like imagine a male or gn version of belle from beauty and the beast
And they see that they’re getting a bit bored so they show them the library
Lost In Pages
Platonic yandere batfam x bookworm m!reader
The Wayne Manor had quickly become your new home, surrounded by loved ones that practically begged to take care of you. It became your new safe space, where nothing bad could happen. Not to mention that the manor was huge! It was so spacious that nearly every corner could be your little " private reading space. Book in hand an blanket wrapped around you as you flipped page after page, enjoying the story. Or well you used to.
As of late you just lost motivation, not because the book was bad, it really wasn't, but there are only so many times you cam reread it before it becomes simply too repetitive. You could always ask one of them to buy you a new book, but you didn't want to use them, doesn't matter that they are billionaires.
Your demeanor didn't get unnoticed by anyone. They always notice. And they are quick to figure out what's wrong too. Of course they saw that you were staring at the book in your lap with disinterest, heavy sigh leaving your lips.
Dick approached you, charming smile on his lip "You know that we have a library, like a huge one? Why don't we go down there?"
Oh, apparently every rich person had a private library. To say you practically stormed down there was an understatement. No one had mention this secret library before, of course you would be excited to go there.
Throwing the door open you saw heaven. Rows upon rows, farther than you could see, filled with books. And the decor! This was probably the most expensive and most beautiful library you have ever seen.
Now your days were filled with hour long reading sessions here, enjoying every single new story that came before your eyes.
And the others were happy too. They may have forgotten to show you the library before, figuring that during the tour of the manor someone mentioned it, but that's in the past now.
Dick, while not the biggest book fan, would take up some of the shorter novels you read. Something to connect to. But usually he'd just sit next to you, as you read, having you lean against him. It made him feel so close to you, so connected, that he was still a part of your routine. You too were happy to have him by your side, Dick is amazingly warm, and comfy to lean on and even while you were immersed in your book you still enjoyed the company. Dick loved being so close to you, being able to constantly have you in his arms. It made his pride grow, you were so comfortable with him that you spent you special time with him. As a big brother he strived that all of his siblings could trust him and the fact that you so openly showed it made him
Jason was probably your favorite. Just like you he'd spent hours upon hours in this library. He was part of your own little book club, where you would spend all your time discussing every book you read, what the author was implying or how certain character actions are metaphors. It was fantastic. The library brought you closer than anything else ever could, it was the place where you two could meet and no one would dare disrupt you too. Alfred hardly came by, only dropping off hot tea each time, he knew you two would be to focused on the conversation, but he still did not want to interrupt. Jason loved being able to connect with you like no other, it means that in some way he is special, he is better, that he was allowed to stay by your side, since no one else could understand you like he did.
While Tim couldn't be called a book lover, he did rea dsome sort of detective novels. For him it was always easy figuring out who the perpetrator was, but he still liked reading them since it was like a downtime for his brain. Tim would recommend you a few books he read, giving you clues, helping you figure out the killer, teaching you the ways of a detective. It was fun, sharing ideas and motives, trying to figure everything out before the book ends and Tim always seemed to know everything, like a walking search engine. You picked up quite a few "detective skills" and the books seemed to get easier to decipher. Tim loved being able to ramble about the story of the book, finally someone who would just listen. That's what makes you so special, that's why he needed you by his side.
Duke was your average guy. Someone who read classic but other than that he didn't really show an interest for books. Sitting down for hours just reading seemed to normal for him, just a bit boring in his opinion. Not that he means your hobby is boring, no, everything about you is perfect just the way it is. Duke usually laid in your bed while you walked around the room explaining a plot twist in the book your currently reading. You would excitedly talk and talk, never once stopping because you knew he was listening, just listening, taking in every word you said, and he would never try to stop you. No, this was your time and he'd make sure you enjoyed every single minute of it. He loved watching you get excited, the way your eyes lit up made his heartbeat quicken. His eyes were just totally fixated on you, the center of his world.
Then there is Damian. Even as a young boy he was well versed in many types of literature, though his favorite form was poems. He talked about different poets, different ways the poems could be interpreted, the raw emotions, the dedication they showed. Oftentimes he even wrote some poems himself, dedicated to you. Other times he would share his favorites with you. Damian enjoyed having a person to share his interests in. The way you wouldn't just brush him off. Wouldn’t just look past him. He loved that you could think for yourself, interpret the meaning of each poem, appreciate the beauty of a masterpiece. Finally spending time with someone that knew more than just the basics. Conversing for hours about how different factors changed the way a poet wrote. Damian truly appreciated that the manor was now home to such a lovingly dedicated person that appreciate all different kinds of literature.
And Bruce? He was the one that made everything happen in secret. He watched happily as his family was brought together by you, listened as conversation were held for hours with no fight. If it meant buying every book he could get his hands on, then so be it, sometimes even buying doubles just so you could keep one in your room. Money certainly wasn't an issue for him and making you happy means making the family happy. Unlike the other he would not directly engage with you, no, he would simply stand by the doorway and watch. Watch as his children, his family enjoyed their time. You gave all of them a sense of normalcy, a saving grace, someone to cling to in their dark times. He watched as something ad simply as reading could save his family.

Hey Flawseer, love your art. I wanted to ask if you have any headcanons for some of the supporting characters who aren't really tied to the school, like Chameleon, Icicle, Hailstorm, etc.
Headcanons for specifically those characters? Hm...
This isn't really a headcanon, more of a "this is implied but not outright stated" kind of thing, but Chameleon's childhood was the stuff of nightmares. He hatched with a physical deformity that prevented him from sleeping more than an hour at a time. Think about what that would be like, to never be able to rest, to be tired and exhausted every day.
Child Chameleon is also an interesting window into the darker aspects of Rainwing society. The books often portray their society as idyllic, something pure and optimistic, something to aspire to. But then they had this kid who was suffering in his body, who didn't develop the expected Rainwing traits properly, and they shunned him. Even sweet, lovable, couldn't-hurt-anyone Jambu calls him weird and off-putting for not being able to change colors. We don't know why Chameleon ended up exiled; maybe it was a malicious act or maybe Chameleon lashed out and had to be removed for being dangerous. But it definitely makes you wonder if there are any other skeletons in the Rainwings' closet.
None of this excuses any of the stunts he pulled later as an adult, especially not the emotional manipulation of his daughter. But thinking about his crappy childhood may help you understand how he ended up the way he did. I hope he can find some help.
Here's a picture of him I drew once. He probably has an official design by now, I don't know.
As for headcanons about Chameleon... I think he eats meat. His biology isn't really wired for it, so it tastes absolutely disgusting to him. But he does it anyway, because while he hates the taste of meat so much, he hates the idea of being a Rainwing several times more. So he puts up with it because he knows it is the least Rainwing-like thing you can do. In a strange way, it helps him cope.
For Icicle, I think it is interesting to note that we technically never see her under normal circumstances. She appears in Jade Mountain in book 6 and certainly leaves an impression, but it's easy to forget that everything she does, she does with the awareness that Scarlet currently has a proverbial knife to her brother's throat. Thus, we never get to see what present day Icicle is like when she is able to relax.
Headcanons... The books aren't clear on how or when Scarlet made first contact with her. It could have been in school, as Moonwatcher overhears. Personally, I think Scarlet actually contacted Icicle months prior to the school opening, and instructed Icicle to insert herself as a sleeper agent. I have trouble believing that immaculate Icicle would WANT to be cooped up underground in a dirty cave with a bunch of strangers several miles from home. I think Scarlet made her do it, and she then begged Queen Glacier to send her there, knowing full well she was gonna hate it. Winter then overheard her begging and begged to come along too.
This lends weight to the scene where Icicle finally breaks down in front of Winter. The part where she's her authentic self for the first time, crying and begging Winter not to let her fall asleep so the woman who has been tormenting her inside her own head for months can't tell her that she failed and that her brother is dead.
In the end, her brother is alive. But in trying to get him free, Icicle ruined her own life.
This one might be controversial, I don't know. While I do think Icicle served in the war, and she did definitely kill Mudwings while doing so, I don't think Icicle is the one who killed Crane. Sora insists it was her, but Umber and Marsh do not recognize her, and Mudwing siblings usually fight together, so they would have both been present during her death too.
I think the story becomes more meaningful if the trauma of war just ruined Sora to such an extent that she sees her sister's killer in every somewhat outspoken female Icewing. Then she ran into the library and confirmation-biased herself into believing her hunch by reading unverified essays on Icewing genetics. You know, the same library whose references on Mudwing physiology consist entirely of The Slug-like Qualities of the Mudwings. If Wisemind penned an examination of Icewing physiology too, one can probably imagine how reliable that one would be.
This kind of turns Sora and Icicle into tragic parallels. They are both children born into a war that took their innocence from them, and in the end it ruined them both.
For Hailstorm, I believe after the battle of Jade Mountain ended and Winter got banished, Hailstorm went back to the Ice Kingdom and lived with his mother Tundra for a while. Tundra took the death of her mate very badly and became embittered. She blamed everything bad that happened to their family on Winter, insisted that Winter caused the family to rot. Winter killed the Queen, Winter killed Narwhal, Winter, Winter, Winter, she should have smashed his egg when she had the chance. Hailstorm tried to get her out of the house, to stop talking and thinking about Winter, but nothing worked. She just had her mind set on hating this kid she'd been abusing since his hatching, insisting she gave him the world and he was ungrateful.
Eventually, Hailstorm just couldn't take this constant bleakness and hatred anymore. A few months ago Icewing tradition almost made him kill his little brother and he is just done with the Ice Kingdom. Completely disillusioned. Leave it all behind.
So he goes to Winter, and he starts to ask odd questions, like "If you had never found a way to turn me back from being Pyrite, would you still have loved me", and "If I was a Skywing, would you disown me?" Winter assures him that he will always love him, but starts to get worried about the questions.
Eventually, Hailstorm just flat-out states that he was actually kind of happy with himself as a female Skywing, not having to think about their messed up family and the stupid rankings all the time. He kept thinking about it through their mother's ramblings, how he felt in that body. He's figured out that he wants to go back to being Pyrite, just obviously without the brainwash-y parts. Winter doesn't entirely understand, but wants his brother/sister to be happy, and gives him/her his blessing.
And I guess there you have it. Some of my headcanons. Chameleon the meat eater, the absolute train-wreck that is Icicle's life with a side of Sora, and Hailstorm finds self-affirmation in exploring their gender identity after cutting their toxic mom out of their life.

It took me way too long to realize why I'm so uncomfortable with the companion quests in Veilguard.
It's because the choices Rook has to make are far, FAR too personal. Rook should have exactly zero say in any of them.
Spoilers beneath the cut-
Starting with the "mildest" - Davrin - Rook has only just known about the griffons. Davrin has protected them right from the start. He's attached to them in a way Rook can never be. While I can see Rook giving their opinion, it really should be Davrin deciding their fate.
Neve and Lucanis are unique cases because there's only one outcome if they become hardened (Neve becomes leader of the Threads, Lucanis imprisoned Illario) - to be fair I do respect the mechanic (even if I'm not a fan of how it comes to be. I understand (and appreciate!) they become hardened when their city falls, I just dislike how it's implied to be Rook's fault.) But when there is a choice to be made, why does Rook get to decide the kind of person Neve should be for Dock Town? Why should Rook be involved at all in deciding Illario's fate? It's a family matter!
Those are still on the milder side though. Limits annoying, but it can still be sort of glossed over as Rook just giving their opinion.
But then we get to Emmerich, and this is where things get murky. Why is Rook, someone who's known Emmerich for months, allowed any sort of influence over a decision so monumental as becoming a lich? (Not even going to mention how strange it is that liches just popped into the lore out of thin... fade) Emmerich has wanted it for years. Decades, even! It could be argued that Rook is giving him their opinion, but imo that particular choice should never have been on the table. (We could have attempted to redeem Johanna! Can you imagine having her in your side??!)
And then there's Taash. I appreciate her struggle with culture - it resonates with my experiences and I can understand the struggle of not knowing where you belong. But what I don't do is go around asking my friends what culture I should follow?! That is such an incredibly, incredibly personal thing, it should never have been on the table. Especially because culture is such a complex issue and there's no either/or choice in it.
Finally, Bellara. Even if Rook is an elf, the decision of saving or destroying an archive of information for an entire group of people who already have so little to go by CANNOT BE MADE BY A SINGLE PERSON. Hell, it can't be made by just Bellara and elf Rook either! And if Rook isn't an elf, why the fuck are they being allowed a voice in this issue?
There's so much more i want to rant about, including the lack of consequences to the decisions Rook makes about the companions and the general plot of (some) of the companion quests but I've realized something else while typing out this long ass post: everything just boils down to Veilguard has shitty writing and I'm once again depressed about all the missed opportunities.
I should just make up my own version of the companion quests. Dragon Age is ours now, right?
#dragon age the veilguard#veilguard spoilers#veilguard critical#rolo rants#ngl the taash and bellars ones really piss me off#how do you make a game that is so beige coded and still manage to be insensitive

i want to hear about the divorce trifecta so bad it hurts
CAUGHT SOMEONE IN MY TRAP “ψ (✿`∇´) ψ “ψ (✿`∇´) ψ “ψ (✿`∇´) ψ “ψ (✿`∇´) ψ “ψ (✿`∇´) ψ “ψ (✿`∇´) ψ “ψ (✿`∇´) ψ
An important note about the divorce trifecta is that it's only a trifecta (Hawke, Inquisitor, Rook) because I don't really have a lot of wardens with clear personalities and backstories. There is only, like, one and she's in a happy monogamous relationship that ends with her dying while slaying the archdemon. Otherwise it probably would've been a divorce quartet. Something for the future me to think about.
The rest is under the cut for length! This is quite lengthy, but in my defence: you asked.
So, divorce #1 is the Handers divorce.
An important preface is that I love Anders and he could've blown up all chantries in Thedas and still remain my pookie.
However, my latest Hawke is not me and holds more moderate views. They are on friendmance, and she will try to help the mage cause whenever possible, but she still cares the most about upholding stability in the city because it's her home. And it may be a shitty home, but she loves it, and she wants to keep it together even as the city mercilessly continue to fall apart in front of her.
Then Anders offers the final nail in the coffin of her attempts at maintainig the peace. This isn't also just a Handers worldstate, it's a Hawkelycule worldstate (Hawke's dating all LIs except Sebastian), so Anders displaced all people she loves i one fell swoop - she cares about them all so deeply, and couldn't provide safety and stability for a single one of them (I posted my Hawkelycule chart on bsky btw. would love to get back to those freaks one day)
But the explosion itself is not actually the biggest reason behind the rift between them. A much, much bigger betrayal is that Anders never trusted her enough to ask for her help - because maybe then, she would have helped him. He never gave her a chance to.
And the biggest betrayal of all in her eyes is that he concocted a plan that implied him dying in the end, and dying by her hand. He expected her to do it, and she can't reconcile with the fact that the man she loves thought she would hurt him, was ready to put her through killing him.
I headcanon that she would tell him to just fuck off after the Chantry explosion, spent the entire time before reaching the Gallows agonising if he was alright, and then jump-hugged him crying when she saw he was safe because she just can't figure out how she's supposed to feel about him now.
She is mad at him, mad at herself for being mad at him (because she understands why he did what he did), and he feels similar, knowing that what he did was right, and that it also took away one of Hawke's favourite things in the world.
They spend the entire time between DA2 and DAI in that state of indecision until Hawke leaves to meet up with Varric. She decides that after she's back from whatever happens, they will talk, and she will tell him that she actually loves more than she regrets what happened to Kirkwall, and that - if he wants - they can try again.
Then she dies at Adamant, they never talk, and Anders spends the rest of his life thinking that Hawke never forgave him (✿`∀´)Ψ
Divorce #2 is the Solavellansera divorce.
(Solas and Sera are both dating the Inquisitor at the same time. but NOT each other I don't ship Solas and Sera I'm not a freak. at least not that kinf of a freak)
This is admittedly a much more half-baked concept, but it tickles my brain and is very dear to me. Mostly because of how bad the things could get between the three of them.
Solas and Sera are on the opposite ends of the spectrum of what an Elven inquisitor can want in a relationship, and that's the part that I find the most interesting. Sera can provide an outlet for being just a person (not the Inquisitor, not even an elf TM - just one of the "people people"), and Solas can help nurture a connection with the ancient Elven history that the modern Dalish elves lack. I'm not sure if anyone sees the vision, but I do, because I'm really into poly relationships where partners significantly contrast each other and cater to different needs.
The divorce would occur post-temple of Mythal. As much as Lavellan is accepting of Sera's views, there are lines she will not cross, and Sera's disregard for the Elven gods is beyond it. She can't compromise on that, and she won't. Even if it breaks her heart.
Then, you know what happens with Solas. One thing I'm undecided on is whether the Solas divorce should happen before the Sera divorce, or after. If the Crestwood scene happens before, there's delicious angst of Lavellan filliping out at Sera specifically because of that recent experience that's already greatly shaking her understanding of her faith. If the Crestwood scene happens after, there is the angst of Lavellan first making a choice to end things with someone, and then someone making that choice for her. And those same gods that she broke up with Sera over being slavers, and who else knows what.
But, regardless of the order. Can you imagine what it must be like to love two people, and then lose them both in such short time? To have two lovers, and then none? There's something about that. To me.
Sera and Lavellan also have extremely delicious post-divorce dialogue in Trespasser which I'm attaching here because that was like half the inspiration behind the whole thing.
(source. "And maybe that’s good? To be stupidly true, even if it ends things?" is still tearing at my heart to this day)
Divorce #3 is Rookanis divorce
I don't really know what to say here. I feel like I've been yapping about it too much lately anyway?
She loves him, he loves her, but duty comes first, things don't work out etc. Davrin could have fixed them (or, well, Ghilasara wouldn't require that much fixing if he was alive anyway), but you know. It's a cruel world as long as I'm in charge!
Something like that!
#do NOT ask me about my divorced ships. I will not shut up about them!!#asks#flowers.txt#ty for asking I did not expect anyone to actually take interest!

Am I the only one who thinks it's fucked up that the Mortalitasi are parading about King Markus's corpse...as opposed to letting the next in line rule??
He's alive in DAI - old, but very much flesh and blood - and we know this because the venatori use blood magic on him to get him under their control. So, what is he in DATV then? Are they implying that he's a lich? That he still has his mind? That they've got a spirit in there?
What do they gain from this? Cassandra's, what, 64th in line for the throne? So there's a bunch of potential heirs just hanging about -> potential heirs who want the crown because we know that Cassandra's parents were executed for trying to overthrow him.
Cassandra may not be fond of her family, but I can't imagine her letting this slide. This is the type of shit that gets an Exalted March called down on you! Especially if she's divine?! Nevarran's can be 'death-focused'* yes, but they let the living rule and not the dead.
It's their belief that when their soul passes through the Fade it results in a spirit being displaced - so they have the Mortalitasi find the spirit a new home in the Necropolis. That is their job - they maintain the Necropolis and, according to DATV, sometimes deal with awry magic.
The potential relation to a Divine or the Head of the Seekers, the King of Nevarra, is having his corpse puppeted about by a mage...and no one seems to care?!
Is this not super fucked up to anyone else?!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit - I put this down in the tags but I think it's important to point out: In all the previous games up to this point not once has a mage, manipulating a corpse like this, ever been portrayed as quirky or funny. This is not the norm of what the Mortalitasi are supposed to do - they honour the dead they do not puppet them.
Thedas is a world very strongly intertwined with faith, especially the Chantry. It is Nevarra's attitudes towards death and their burial practices that distinguishes it from other Andrastian nations - they still have the Chantry, the Templars, and the Circle of Magi just as the rest of Southern Thedas has.
It's impossible to imagine any Divine (Leliana, Cassandra, or Vivienne) hearing of this occurring and not taking action against this. It's extremely strange that Emmrich bemoans that half the nobility know this has occurred when this action should be seen as nothing short of an abomination to the faithful - including Emmrich.
#*death-focused in that some nobles spend most of their worldly fortunes on tombs for their corpses after death.#is it supposed to be: 'quirky Nevarra with their undead - even their King is undead'?#yeah it could be a 'throwaway line' for a gag from Emmrich#“oh poor Markus is falling apart we need to give him a kick to restart”#i dunno Emmrich - it's giving me Leandra vibes and i don't like it!#in every single other game in the series when a mage uses a corpse for their own gain like this its never been portrayed as quirky or funny#they're puppeting his corpse about? the king of a country?!#is he in there still?!!#Cassandra wouldn't allow this!#the game has no politics in it but when it does its pfft gone in the wind with no explanation#and its completely nonsensical#if there's a reason for this in-game then its just not explained at all - i shouldn't have to read supplemental material#in order to understand what happening in game#or maybe let me ask questions??#Cassandra / Leliana / or Vivienne would not let this slide at all for however long its been going on#btw i'm mentioning them taking action because it's implied that this has been going on for a while now#this could have been a cool plot point? uncovering the truth for the divine and finding someone behind the throne?#instead we get - 'big skeleton goes brrrr'#datv spoilers#datv critical#dragon age the veilguard#emmrich volkarin#cassandra pentaghast#veilguard critical

Can you talk about trans!Curly a little bit more? I'm curios if you have any headcanons and the like
-💀
It's just such a thing in my mind because it adds a truthful sadness and differing aspect to mouthwashing.
If Curly was trans it adds the horror of the horribly selfish thought he could have easily been in Anya's situation. It could've been him but it wasn't and he so conflicted on the pit it put in his stomach that brings and the shameful relief it wasn't. In this scenario he is friends with Jimmy for a long time still. Jimmy likely knew him pretransition. Maybe he gave Curly weird looks then, maybe they never stopped after, maybe they seemed meaner. They are guys now, bros, both of them are. He doesn't really have to worry what those looks mean anymore, Jimmy just has that face with him sometimes. It's recontextualizing a lot of things for him that he was in denial about or too ashamed to admit. How naive he was being and how he let that get another person hurt.
Specifically with Anya, it's he knows the dread and fear she's feeling. He can understand it because he had to live with it for a good portion of his life, he knows it cause he still does, just in a slightly different way. It makes him think of all the times he's been alone with Jimmy, all the times he's been way more drunk off his ass and not remember the night, Jimmy was always with him the next day. Makes him think of the comments he would laugh off both because that's what guys do but because that part of being a girl says to laugh so Jimmy doesn't do something. It's the selfish realization that he was never safe and he's uncertain now too. Mad at himself for forgeting that feeling, espcially since for a long time he would've been considered the only woman on a crew (with all that implies) for a long time.
He should've taken those blinders off, step back into that position for just a moment and it's so much more painful that Anya likely came to him because he should've gotten it. Those thoughts don't leave his mind after the crash when he's in an even more vulnerable position than she was...
#this is less headcanons and more my thoughts of the intersectional horror this brings to mouthwashing which is also a thing it#already has but more directly in the mix vs just the class gender and positional struggle. like the idea he waited to confront Jimmy becaus#he could conceptualize the crime better because of experience with womanhood and also how it would've destroyed him in terms of being trans#like its weird to word as a comparison but thats kinda how empathy works as in an understanding and ability to project through aspects#like you found out your friend who has always had weird feelings about and relating to you is a rapist and got one of your other friend#pregnant and is now being openly hostile and aggressive towards you. You have only a few days to really think on all of this all the years#with him and how many oppurtunites he had that you blame yourself for giving him both in life and to do to you. You are starting to#realize that he may have done what he did to Anya because it was no longer viable with him or because of weird transphobia/homophobia#from Jimmy and god its so much and he should've know better and what did Jimmy do then - c r a s h#he is at such a small amount of mercy to Jimmy now and he can't protect Anya and it's terrifying because i know and you know that Jimmy is#giving him those weird looks again...#like it adds another layer of horror to things and while I don't think Jimmy would do anything to Curly it's heavily implied he targeted he#because of relatively more important position and getting Curly to have doubts about him as a power play and Curly knows Jimmy well enough#that him immediately exerting his authority and power would set him off after already having been mad about it and even when doing#damage control it still set him off. like its the horror of accidenlty siding with your oppresser and hurting other like you only to then b#stabbed in the back again by the person who took advantage of your nature like its so complext but my actual trans curly headcanons#are just a little bit happier like i imagine he was the first on the boys soccer team and a star player. maybe he and jimmy even picked ou#his first offical “boy” clothes and Jimmy picked most so he looked like the grungiest white boy but she was a boy so it didn't matter cause#it was with his friend who accepted him and I bet on the bed he looks back at all those moments and notices the little details that his#friend wasnt actually so happy but he can't be certain when he started looking so bitter or hes just imagining out of paranoia cause he jus#cant know and even if he could he wouldn't want to ask like god thinking about Anya and probably being a little glad if not heartbroken#that she did get out of it in the end like trans curly and anya destroy me even more its so upsetting like he didn't realize how much he go#you girl and waited to act like it was cowardice but then would she not realize what hes realizing? should that be a grace or more of a#condemnation in her mind like what are her thoughts? espically during the scene Jimmy hits Curly like she had to hear and what did she thin#they are tormented in a similar hells with the same demon and its fascinating#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#anya mouthwashing#curly mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing

#can I just. scream for a second#so as is news to no one#we need to start over the entire us medical system from scratch#also I would like to be flayed alive and start over from scratch in the skin department as well#anyway for context: I've had some kind of rash/acne/infection/irritation all over my legs for over a year now#have tried various products and changed habits and products to try and get rid of it to no avail#everyone said you should really just go to a dermatologist#(I was not that inclined to do so bc the previous and only time I'd seen a dermatologist it was not a good experience. very condescending#also I don't like making appointments and stuff. girl I don't have time)#but I decided to be an adult and go (my insurance info seemed to imply I could go with zero copay even)#spoilers: that was not the case#anyway so I show up and surprise surprise: it sucked#she was dismissive and condescending imo. was literally like 'well it could be A B or C but I can't tell'#'all of those are basically impossible to get rid of anyway but the things to try are X Y or Z'#I asked to try Z since X and Y are things that I already tried and did nothing (which I had told her!!!)#but she just kept being like 'you just need to stop picking at it. that's the real problem and that's what's exacerbating your scarring'#(wow thanks never thought of that!) (she also insinuated that my scarring was ugly)#girl I'm not 5 years old I understand.#unfortunately for me that is a compulsion so strong it would probably take years of directed therapy to get me to stop doing that#what I'm here to see you about is to figure out what the problem is and how to stop it from happening in the first place#and STOP TRYING TO MAKE IT A COSMETIC ISSUE#it's causing me pain and discomfort that's the main problem! I would like that to stop!! and me not touching it would not solve that proble#also I wanted to ask her about something else but they were too quick about it. felt very Handled if you know what I mean#but anyway#she gave me a prescription for topical antibiotic which was the thing I had not tried#apparently my insurance doesn't cover it and it's also made of gold and plutonium or something#so she gave me a coupon for it#but get this#when I went to pick it up at the pharmacy they didn't take the coupon#the guy said. 'um this only works for the generic brand. and we don't have the generic brand'

Hesitantly posts this and then runs away
The black line above some of the ships is to indicate that my personal (current) queer headcanons for one or both of the characters in the ship means the ship wouldn't work in a romantic sense, which is an aspect of things that does influence my opinions of ships a bit but that's a more personal potential discomfort thing with ships so I disregarded that while actually ranking them but that's still an aspect. I might've missed adding it to some of them because there's so many ships on this but you get it. I sorted the ships in the individual tiers based on game as well so the order in each tier doesn't mean anything
Any of the ships that are on this tier list maker that I didn't rank were either because they were with characters I didn't know, I just didn't feel like ranking it, or they were ships between the teen characters and adults which is ew
Some of the ships in the "I'm particularly fond of their dynamic as friends", "I can understand this", "Okay", and "Not fond of" tiers can go back and forth a little bit as well, it depends
#persona 3#persona 3 reload#persona 4#persona 4 golden#persona 5#persona 5 royal#I'm not tagging any of these ships lmao#if there are any mistakes in this tier list I'll freak out I've looked it over 20 times now to make sure#also the “understand” “okay” and “not fond” tiers don't mean I don't like their dynamic as friends or in general#I realize the one tier name can seem like it implies that#my opinions of things are more specific then what a tier list would allow without it being a million tiers long#if you want to know my specific opinions of the character dynamics then please just ask me and don't assume. ill yap about it when I can

OKAY NOT DONE TALKING ABOUT THE LITTLE GARDEN ARC
ESPECIALLY THE NARRATIVE PARALLELS BETWEEN ZORO AND SANJI AND DORRY AND BROGGY??? THE FACT THAT THOSE PARALLELS PARTICULARLY IMPLY THAT THEY HAVE A SPECIAL BOND THAT WILL LAST LITERALLY FOREVER???
THE VISUAL WHERE THE AUDIENCE REALIZES THAT THE MOUNTAIN RANGES WERE SKULLS?? PAIRED WITH THEM LYING IN THE SAME POSITION AS ZORO AND SANJI'S TWO DINOSAURS LEFT BEHIND ON THE BEACH?
average tumblr user notices single instance of symbolism, more at 11.
but usopp getting more moments of bravery!!! WE STAN HIS ARC!!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!
zoro getting to laugh and tease people this arc was beautiful, i love that stupid cunty bitch
sanji getting his part of the arc done through cunty trespassing, lying through his teeth, and beating up animals? FANTASTIC THANK YOU FOR MY LIFE (specifically thank you for that twisting move he did with his heels around the vultures head. how does it feel to live MY. D R E A M)
LUFFY WAS SO SHAPED. I WOULD KILL FOR HIM. HE'S SO FERAL.
and calling it now, nami is absolutely going to get malaria girl is the QUEEN of "it's nothing [2 episodes later it is in fact a resonant Something with excruciating plot relevance and emotional stakes attached to it"
almost simped for crocodile but miss all sunday was Right There MA'AM. MA'AM. RESPECTFULLY AND ASEXUALLY, TILL THE BED FUCKING BREAKS--
also he has a giant gold pet which i don't fuck with. also his rings remind me of redd white from ace attorney who is Unfuckable as he is a murderer of a mentor figure (other forms of murder have not detered me from simping in the past. in fact it is typically a point in a character's favor)
also oh my god tumblr makes so much more sense now that i am attempting to use it while high, my fluency rate and understanding of how every person on this platform is distressingly and hilariously comfortable assuming their experience is universal
okay but the still of the giant's weapon shards thrown over their head in victory? makes me insane, will never be over it cannot fucking handle it will be crying forever and ever
#oli oscillates#one piece#one piece little garden#however one thing i will say also is i read a zosan fic wherein sanji asked zoro when zoro knew he loved him#and zoro answered 'little garden' which after seeing this arc i sense that that is BULLSHIT#i feel like that's probably when he started FALLING#as there is DEFINITELY a shift in how zoro talks to him in that reuniting scene. like the vibe of that was different#but zoro would not. realize that yet??? i genuinely don't think#like#like they have only been a consistent crew for arlong loguetown and the laboon arc?? (not counting apis as she's anime filler#and i skipped it)#i think this is when zoro would start QUESTIONING why he cares so much about who wins between him and sanji.#why he's so desperate to be relevant to him. why he has to give as good as he gets#and i think sanji respectfully#IS NOT THERE YET. his character from what i understand at this point in the show is.#well the POINT of his delivery is that he has three faces. how he treats women how he treats men. and how he treats someone he fights#(the last of which is implied to be the “truest” version of him--the iron core that makes him worthwhile as a Good Guy Deep Down tm)#and consequently a member of the strawhats)#i would love to see how future arcs handle the interaction of those three dynamics or a more unified sense of self for sanji#because much as i am down bad nasty for him there's this profound like. i almost want to say insecurity in him that makes him feel--#very wet cat traumatized. he gives me “unloved as an early child and therefore has a fucked up sense of self or love as concepts” vibes#it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't fall until much later than zoro#anyways#mutuals forgive me for holding you hostage in the tags accidentally i have had the goofy silly

I remember on the radio Waters was asked about the male gaze-y stuff in the Handmaiden and she just completely avoided the question
Which I think is pretty telling about what that movie is like (also lowkey side eyeing her)
From what I understand the opinion she holds of it is neutral towards positive, she felt uncomfortable too but shrugged it off because younger queer people are allowed to enjoy that if they want, seemed to hold her tongue on specifics because she respects the guy regardless and vibed with it, but honestly I personally don't care regardless I just want to read about hairy women instead of watching something a guy made while thinking of queer liberation as just a risque trope with a fun crime flick twist to it but hey I'm just cynical
#I can't read the tone of this ask for the life of me but calling it 'that movie' implies you don't much care for it so not the same anon#also this is a normal way to talk while the other anon just flared off after reading only the first tag I left on the poll lol#the movie has interesting cultural elements as well from what I understand but he admitted it was an afterthought to needing a setting that#fit the dynamics he had in mind for the characters so idk#still off gender wise#a tag for asks#what fucking gets me is the implication that I'd hold this opinion because I like overly sanitized stuff I'm literally a horror fan :(#I love women I love fucked up women killing and fucking each other but y'know WHEN QUEER PEOPLE ARE WRITING IT#or y'know at least someone giving any actual consideration to irl queer people like toby like ikuhara#those aren't not horror but you get my point

redditors are so fucking weird, sometimes they don't even know what hill they're dying on all they know is that they're gonna die on it for sure
#told a dude on reddit who was asking how much violence is allowed in YA books that you can put as much as you'd like#& he was like ''books sure have changed since i was an adolescent'' & i was like. no. they've always been that way. read them & see#(literally gave Watership Down as an example. it was published in the 70's)#& he started ranting & raving about how actually i'm wrong because liberals & kids these days don't understand#what it's like to be an adolescent (kept using that word) in a time where all books were banned for even the most minor of implied violence#& i was like ''what the fuck are you talking about'' & he was like ''where do you live & how old are you'' about a hundred times#i wish i was exaggerating. it really escalated that fast#oh also they were assuming i'm a guy & using he/him pronouns which is like. fuck off lol yeah you're obviously an old white guy from Americ#literally i should just leave reddit forever but i can't stand by watching people say ''quit forever'' when newbies ask simple questions#like redditors are insane. batshit#i want to be the ''do whatever you want forever'' person in a sea of ''you're 12 & only have a 12yo's reading level? die''#also the blocking on there is bullshit. you can't reply to comments if one of the people in the convo is blocked#& you can't block someone twice in 24 hours#& if you want to report someone for. say. harassment. like asking for your location repeatedly. you have to report the specific comment.#which you now can't see because you blocked them#more & more i become astonished that people use every other social media EXCEPT tumblr#couldn't imagine living like that. it must be horrible

13,14,20,21 and 33!
i'm just gonna assume this is about the nosy ask game :P i'm mixing 13 and 14, because the answer for that one is- yeah. complicated :P 13: Biggest turn ons & 14: Biggest turn offs i think it depends? i dunno. i also can't really tell- it's hard for me to tell these things. i know why, but that's a bit of a story for... i dunno when
20: What I hate most about myself ...how do i differentiate between what i hate and what i've been taught to hate? /hj ok but for real tho, mostly just how hard it is for me to pay attention and process things sometimes. though i feel like that's mostly because it means i have to put effort into things. also i sometimes hate the fact i'm afab. sometimes it's chill tho. depends on what part of the gender spectrum i end up being on
21: What I love most about myself my hair. it's blue. well, that and my eyes. if we're going by personality, then... i dunno. i guess just how silly i tend to be. it's fun, and it makes other people smile, so it feels nice :D
33: What words make me feel the best about myself a lot of words that are just use positively, really. i mean, i affectionately call myself a dumbass, so just- words that are used in a positive/affectionate manner :3
#aster talks#aster answers#nosy ask game#logistically i know what i like and don't like but at the same time i can't tell if my body is trained to like it#or if i actually like it#ya know?#...that implies dark things#you can ask questions about that#i guess???#i just don't normally post that stuff here#that's more exclusively to one of my other blogs#you'd think i'd understand these things more complexly#all things considered

Y'all want to know what thought is fucking with me today?
Parrots can learn the concept of questions. I don't know about the claim that chimpanzees that were taught sign language never learned to ask questions, or the theory that it simply wouldn't occur to them that the human handlers might know things that they personally do not, or that whatever information they have might be worth knowing. But I don't even remember where I read that, and at best it's an anecdote of an anecdote, but anyway, parrots.
The exact complexity of natural parrot communication in the wild is beyond human understanding for the time being, but you can catch glimpses of how complex it is by looking at how much they learn to pick up from human speech. Sure, they figure out that this sound means this object, animal, person, or other thing. Human says "peanut" and presents a peanut, so the sound "peanut" means peanut. Yes. But if you make the same sound with a rising intonation, you are inquiring about the possibility of a peanut.
A bird that's asking "peanut?" knows there is no peanut physically present in the current situation, but hypothetically, there could be a peanut. The human knows whether there will be a peanut. The bird knows that making this specific human sound with this specific intonation is a way of requesting for this information, and a polite way of informing the human that a peanut is desired.
"I get a peanut?" is a polite spoken request. There is no peanut here, but there could be a peanut. The bird knows that the human knows this. But without the rising intonation of a question, the statement "I get a peanut." is a firm implied threat. There is no peanut here, but there better fucking be one soon. The bird knows that the human knows this.
