hello everyone! a quick break from your scheduled art posting to talk about this incredible fic i think ever bloodweave enjoyer should read.

i know it'a already very popular, but imo it's a must-read. i could not praise this fic enough for what it is, the amazing ideas it brings to the table, the incredible execution of the timeloop trope. it's by far the fic i look forward to seeing in my inbox the most (not that other fics aren't absolutely gorgeous), because every chapter is just. a delight to read. it's got angst, fluff, and an amazing romance, but the plot is what really makes it stand out. it's tight, packed with great characterisation and has perfect pacing. please give it a shot if that sounds at all interesting to you. oh yeah, and did i mention that it's got art for every single chapter? yeah, read it. bask in its genius.

So i was playing around with one of my OCs in CAS and noticed that the body sliders were kinda slow on their everyday outfit, so through trial and error i figured out that it was an acc cravat i have

so i check it in s4s, and it was 47k polys

below is a before and after of me decimating the mesh

there is no good reason for this. I removed 40k polys and it looks the same.

This is paid content. The least you can do as a creator is make sure the polycount isn't way higher than needed.

Re: posting your ko-fi or whatever on AO3 (don’t do it), I’m lucky that I’ve never been in a position where I needed to crowdfund my rent (I’ve been broke, even for extended periods, but never zero dollars broke), but also, if you accept money for fanfic, you’re opening yourself up to so much legal trouble.  Fan art is just different and that sucks for those of us who can’t draw, but that’s how it works. 

Anyway, you’ve never seen a leiascully ko-fi and I hope you never will.  I do this for the love of my blorbos and for kudos.  When I write an original book, you can buy that :)

Seeing a lot of people in the notes who seem to want to be able to donate without getting a badge for it and... well... you can buy a badge and NOT DISPLAY IT. Because one of the many Tumblr features that I guess other users haven't always noticed is that you can decide what badges to display and in what order.

If you go into the Settings page for your blog/sideblog, the badges you have set to display are shown right underneath your avatar, with a "manage badges" pencil icon at the end. Click on that and you'll get a popup with a list of the badges you currently have unlocked, with ticky boxes beside them. They'll show up the order the boxes get ticked, and won't show up if unticked.

(I'd happily get ad-free or the supporter badge, except unlike the other badges or store merch I can buy, there's no PayPal option - I assume because there's an issue with setting up repeating payments? How about making a one time payment version of the annual ad-free/supporter badge for those of us who don't do credit cards?)

you've probably have gotten this question a million times, but -- what about fundraising in the style of ao3 or even wikipedia? for all the thousands of fourteen year olds running around who don't understand how much it costs to run a website, there's another thousand of adults whom would love to keep using this site forever. it may not be a more-profits-every-quarter kind of situation, but then again, one is allowed to dream beyond the current silicon valley web 2.0 profit driven hellscape

That was the idea behind the Tumblr Supporter badge, a way for people who appreciate the site can chip in towards keeping it going. It hasn't been as successful as we hoped, only about 2,300 subscribers so far (out of 11.5M monthly active users) but over time maybe it could compound to be what drives the site.

You wanna know what I never understood? Calling big updates to games "free DLC"

It's an update! Yes, technically, it's free downloadable content, but the connotation of DLC obviously is that it's something that you pay for which expands your base game. I feel like calling big updates free DLC reinforces the idea that one should pay to have access to content which improves a game.

I don't mind games having DLC to a certain extent, but I feel like it's kind of weird to dub necessary updates as DLC. Because then you have (Paid) DLC like some of Sims 4's packs which are 100% features which should reasonably be in the base game...

I know this is where gaming is going in general, but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged lol
