Guys. Guys Ben Drowned's canon last name isn't actually Lawman

I've known this for a while, and more I think about it, the more it makes me feel like I should say something 😭

It was a misconception that started with an older version of Ben's page on the Jadusable Wiki. (It was never used for any non-ARG version of Ben prior to this.) I remember spotting Lawman being used as Ben's last name around 2016-2018 or so, and it has been edited out of his page since 2020. (It was on the page they have for the dead child rather than the Network/entity. I think it might've happened before they moved off Fandom wiki, because I think I remember seeing comments and their new wiki doesn't have those).

During the second arc (2011-2012), Jadusable mailed some bonus material to people who donated to him. One of these bonus materials was a section from a newspaper, which describes the murder-suicide of two members of the Lawman family along with their son, with some tampering to the article that appears to have been done by BEN.

You can zoom into the image and read it, or check out it's page on the wiki here (which I highly recommend as it has some added information, like what all the censored words are.) It's a very interesting piece of lore that's fun to analyze--however, I wouldn't recommend reading it if you're super squeamish or sensitive to graphic details related to death. (The method of the killing itself isn't mentioned.)

While this seems to be about Ben on the surface, it's actually not. The only way we can tell is by the date of the newspaper: In the column to the left of the "Spring Is In The Air!" paragraph, the year 2011 is mentioned, but we know that Ben died on 4/23/2004. The wording of the Lawman event feels recent (as if they're talking about an event a few months prior), when Ben's death would've been far gone by now.

With what's likely BEN tampering on the top right (where they creatively use block-out poetry to say "You shouldn't have done that," among many other things) combined with the mention of someone's son dying, it makes a ton of sense that the wiki editors assumed that Ben is a member of this Lawman family that appears here. At some point, screenshots of the wiki ended up being circulated and the larger Creepypasta fandom accepted Lawman as being Ben's "real" last name.

Lawman is actually the last name of a different (and much less relevant) character, Tyler, who appears briefly in the first and third arcs. It's not entirely clear what happened to him or his family, and I think the Newspaper Article is intended to be fun bonus material for Jadusable's donators rather than something that's meant to supply important information about the ARG characters--something like Ben's last name would be crucial for puzzles and passwords, and would give the 50 donators who received the article an unfair advantage (and Jadusable isn't the type of creator who'd be okay with that). Regardless, it carries some interesting implications about the Behavioral Event Network, and Matt's initials are also here for some reason. It's probably one of the most head-spinning materials in the whole game.

For a little while now the only thing about Sanders Sides I ever saw was artwork of hot characters you post to this blog. Today I decided to actually look up what this series was, with the hope of finding more things related to sexy snake people in cute outfits. So imagine my shock when I looked it up and found that it's all related to that guy from Vine that I watched YEARS ago. It's certainly not what I was expecting but after watching the first two videos in that series I have come to find that it actually a little bit interesting. So thanks for getting me to look into this further

Anyway, I also wanted to say that your art is great. Whether it be characters in interesting fits, ship art, or the cute daily basil posts, your art is always such a joy to see even if I don't know the characters. So keep up the great work.

Hi ! First of all I am so sorry. I'm SO sorry. Picture me groveling at your feet apologetically here. I'm SO SORRY. That I gave you the impression that SaSi was about sexy snake people in cute outfits. Getting into Sanders Sides and being surprised that Thomas "that guy from Vine" Sanders is the one making it is a near fandom-wide universal experience I think.

Also— glad you're enjoying the series!! The first few episodes are very old and my two favorites are two of the latest canon episodes (which still means they're old but whatever), and seeing as you said you only watched the first two, I do want to say: sexy snake guy is real. He doesn't look like that, obviously, he looks just like the rest of them but in another outfit, but he is 100% the hottest one of them. To me. In my very very unbiased opinion. It DOES get there and he's the best character and he's very important to my two favorite episodes. If you end up watching more, please please please feel free to tell me your thoughts, I want to hear all about it.

Speaking of Tyrest. A lot of people forget that he treated Pharma with absolute disdain, not only using him as a test subject for a clearly painful mass murder machine, but talking to Pharma like he saw him as nothing but some henchman to order around that was nothing more than a 'diseased cripple' if Tyrest hadn't come to rescue him.

Like it really is an interesting background dynamic with some curious implications, but when you look at fandom posts from around that issue/the years after, for some reason people just saw "Pharma worked with Tyrest" and concluded Pharma is a card carrying bigot ksjfnskxkd. Like yeah Pharma didn't do anything to stop Tyrest but it seems his main beef with the Autobots was with Ratchet in particular and maybe a general disdain for his ex-comrades. As well as continuing to hate Decepticons which like, not even the "good Autobots" are immune to (even in Pharma's introduction, First Aid says in his journal something like "yeah we all hate Decepticons, but Pharma REALLY hates them"). And despite what fandom likes to construe there's really no evidence in IDW1 that Autobots and Decepticons are different "races" or "types" of Cybertronians, so Pharma hating Decepticons really isn't a bigotry/robot racism thing. And instead probably has something to do with, idk, the 4 million year long galaxy-spanning blood feud war, or maybe being blackmailed and tortured into insanity by the Biggest and Most Decepticon-y of Decepticons.

Tyrest treated Pharma like trash, the other Decepticons working for Tyrest (how come no one ever brings that up btw) also hated him, so if anything it seems that Pharma was more of a rogue element only staying with Tyrest bc he was his best option and probably had no way to even escape.

I'm glad that at least in recent years the fandom has acquired a keen reading eye and good taste to finally recognize Pharma as the (accidentally) complex character he is instead of making him some posh, racist Starscream clone SHSJDGSGDH

i do think its fucked up to see actual arguments on here about how AI is good, actually, and if you think calling someone out for using AI and then blaming some sort of disability on it then you are an inherently horrible person. like yeah.

AI generated content is based on theft from tons of artists across the world due to scraping from the internet. it is bad. even ignoring any of the environmental effects, it is a horrible fucking thing to just rip apart the efforts of your peers in order to spare yourself a bit of time because you want to make a product but don't want to put in the effort. and trying to spin it as 'oh poor artist has a disability, they cannot create art, how dare you expect them to hurt themselves for your petty moral argument' ignores the tons of actually disabled artists who actively work with their bodies in order to create content that they are proud of.

it feels like instead of actually listening to anyone you're just willing to throw disabled artists under the bus because you want to make the most amount of money with the least amount of effort.

i was going through your rep timeline and it is so interesting how she started with songs about being attracted and falling in love. obviously inspired by her personal life instead of the apocalyptic events of the summer. but then she made delicate and i am speculating here but i think that is what gave her an idea for the direction of the album. the use of the word reputation itself! and then we get IDSB right after delicate which plays with the idea of perception. and you can see how in 2017 she chases both themes.

thank you for taking the time to read it! this is just outside speculation, i could see taylor needing to start from a positive place-- after all, she wrote her "this summer is the apocalypse." journal entry two days before she wrote gorgeous. i could really see her feeling like a) she needed to start making music again or she was going to fall apart and b) she needed to explore her happiness, instead of all the pain.

as for her coming up with the concept of reputation-- taylor's said multiple places that she came up with the reputation title incredibly early (of the top of my head there's her at&t event in 2017). delicate is a good contender, but i think there's a strong chance it was something she came up before she wrote any songs (i remember her saying something to that affect while doing promo for lover, but i can't find it right now, i've been looking so long, i did start groaning in pain). BUT we do have her playing around with it while writing gorgeous-- one of her original lyrics for the prechorus was "my reputation proceeds both of us, i'm nothing that you'd want", so at the very least, it was swirling in the back of her mind from the start

So, I've been making my own Batkids age reversal AU, because of my incredible amounts of brainrot! However, something that's boggling me is what happens to a certain Robin. Like, in the major timelines that I know of, something happens to a Robin that affects Bruce's time as Batman. On Prime Earth, it's Jason dying. In Batman Beyond, it's Tim becoming Joker Junior. There isn't much evidence to dictate is these events are due to, "Something bad always happens to Jason", Something bad always happens to a Robin (no matter who)", or "Something bad always happens to the 2nd Robin". So, now, with batkid age reversals having over 800+ fics on AO3, I wanna see what people prefer happens to Tim Drake in these AU's!

I had a dream this morning that is still absolutely killing me.

so, for real-world context, I have soon to be step-siblings that I haven't met yet due to timing.

so, in my dream, my dad invited me over to my step-mom's house to spend a few days, totally normal and realistic.

except for the fact my step-brother spent the entire time pelting me with red balls, my step-sister was am early-2000s teen girl stereotype (which was actually kinda fun as someone who didn't grow up with female friends), and and my step-sibling refused to even look at me. also, the house wasn't a house where people had clearly been living for ages, it was like an apartment that was sort of only half-decorated with like...bakery cases?

furthermore, after one of the red balls that was thrown at me went out the window, my brother made me go out in the dead of night alone to find it, where the, like, FBI were watching the house? and they stole the ball from me? and then it became a sci-fi movie before I woke up.
