after listening to an among us song i was given the drive to reboot this au so ,

originated from a doodle that spiraled , SPREAD THE INFLUENCE is an au where ragatha is the ( unwilling ) host of a parasite called ' the influence ' which is a virus that only wants to spread and survive . she wasn't compliant about it at the beginning which was ' fixed ' with an itty bitty bit of psychological torment !

also yes i know the abbreviation is unfortunate and i do not care it's funny

even though ragatha's still our usual sweet little optimist , there is this persistent feeling of wrongness . too positive . too affectionate . it's like all of her humanity has been scooped out and you're left with the mask she made for others in the circus .

which is how the virus spread in the circus - they preyed on vulnerabilities which was what their host is perfect for . striking when the victim puts their guards down , making them submit under the guise that their problems will be fixed ... unfortunately it's a monkey's paw situation .

of course , that's only for this particular instance of the influencer ! something to note is that the virus takes a lot from the host's personality , so t.i's mellow and passive , only resorting to violence whenever necessary . t.i's not really an opposite ragatha she's more like a Dark , Fucked Up Version of ragatha the amazing digital circus . she cares a lot for everyone she considers a part of her hive , but it took a lot of manipulation and gaslighting for them to get infected .

caine is left uninfected because " i would do that if my goal is to destroy this place ! " t.i's ultimate fear has always been dying . it'll do everything to not die , to the point it's trying to spread out of the circus ( <- honestly take this info with a grain of salt i wrote this before i fully developed the story ) . unfortunately there's this jester who's resisting the virus with pure lesbian rage and is trying to stop her .

now rags would eventually get de-influenced and the circus will no longer be infected , but we will talk about the extremely rocky journey of recovering from knowing you harmed everyone you cared about Later

was this ' the influence ' that amanda ( ragatha's va ) keeps referencing ? sighs ... yeah . ( feels so surreal that i can say i have their seal of approval for this )

why ragatha ? in story , how is she not the perfect host ? metatextually , this is an au of an au - this came from a blog about ragatha getting a virus that is inconveniencing her life . i simply thought of an idea of ' hey what if the virus took over her body ' one day . then this abomination was born . i would reveal the why and how she got infected ... eventually .........

Request from a friend. Yeah I know you're reading this you mf. Love ya! Hope you enjoy it!

Reader is an owl with a human body. Really tall like 8-12 foot (up to you) and covered in feathers. Retractable talons because I say so.

Zooble

When you first arrived she was, taken back. You're tall, really tall and covered in fluff. It's a lot of things she hasn't seen before here. And your height and talons are intimidating. So she keeps away at first using the others as test dummies without them really knowing. And you end up being really really kind. It was when you swatted away Jax when he tried to mess with someone that she decided you were ok. After a while she gets really used to you and ends up finding herself really enjoying your company. You also help her out by carving new limbs for her with your talons (It is confirmed by Gooseworx that Zooble has more parts then what is initially episode.) When you pick her up and nuzzle into her, or cuddle with her she gets really overwhelmed by you and your feathers. But she can't bring herself to hate you or them because their so soft and warm and... They get everywhere. You sadly shed a lot and she does hate that. It's a pain cleaning up all of your feathers in and around her and her room. She missed one, one time and went out with it on her. Jax still hasn't let her live it down. Whenever you're around he doesn't try anything though. He has learned plenty of times not to mess with people when you're there. And Zooble makes sure to rub it in whenever she can.

Ragatha

When you first arrived Ragatha was very fairly surprised. Your much taller then anyone in the past has ever been, you're covered in feathers, you can fly, and you have built in weapons (talons). As far as the circus goes you're unique in many ways. And that plus you not seeming freaked out by being digital and an owl are the things that catch her off guard. Once she gets comfortable around you she really appreciates you. You provide a happy and nice presence to wherever you are. She does kind of hate your habit of just picking someone up and cuddling into them a bit. Lies, she loves it. She just overall really enjoys having you around. For many reasons, your useful, you're nice, you have a lovely personality, and your happiness is surprisingly infectious. When you two are more close/dating she will find herself subconsciously following you or leaning into you cause she wants cuddles. If you found out she'd be done for. You were really cuddly before, she wouldn't survive any more.

Pomni

You were the person who arrived after Pomni, you being the first one she saw arrive. And you were, a lot. Not bad. But a lot. She is in an the overall state of being overwhelmed at all times, and you being cuddly and randomly picking her up doesn't help. It will take a long time for her to get used to it. After the first time you picked her up and cuddled into her she got kind of addicted. You having talons, being that tall, being so soft/fluffy/warm, so kind. All of that made her feel weirdly safe in your hold. Like she isn't trapped in a computer with no way to leave. One thing lead to another and suddenly your on Pomni duty. It is your job to calm her down when she had or is having a breakdown. You aren't complaining though. Sure you don't like seeing her with tears streaming down her face and her breath quick and uneven. But you do love being able to hold her. Sadly cuddles only ever happen in your room as hers can't really fit you in it. None the less her bed. You're more then double the height of that thing. One time you saw Jax teasing her about something, you walked up picked up Pomni and placed her on top of your head. One you were sure she was ok you threatened Jax, holding a talon at his throat. She crumbled right then and their burying her face into the top of your head to hide the giant blush she now had. With you here she doesn't feel, trapped.

(I loved writing this. A lot... Shh I may or may not have wrote like 10 pages and only posted this. Don't tell anyone.)

I had a dream last night that is an actual plausible theory and I want to put it here so I can look back at it when the show either proves or disproves it.

First off, in the dream, Jax was one of the workers for C&A who knew about the circus's development. Maybe he was a programmer, or a random intern, who knows.

Now, Gooseworx said that Jax is going to do something "unforgivable" later in the show. Many people are speculating that he's gonna make someone abstract, aka kill them. But I had a thought- maybe he's not going to do it, but he's already done it and we'll see in a flashback or lore drop? Maybe... he's the one who got volunteers to try out the Circus? Maybe he was the "marketing team," so to speak, who convinced people to come try out this new VR and led them to their doom, even maybe KNOWING what would happen?

Gooseworx also said Jax is the newest member of the circus (besides Pomni, of course) and that he had the worst reaction out of everyone when he realized he was trapped in there.

I think maybe someone at C&A forced the headset onto Jax and trapped him there after something went really wrong, like the project needing to be hidden. A "No witnesses" situation, where the 22-year-old guy whose job was literally to tell people about it was too much of a loose end. Of course, if he was already in the know about the project, he'd instantly know he was f@#$&d, since Goose revealed that the circus members do remember their lives, just not their names.

(I think Pomni then found the headset years later after it was hidden and put it on at the computer we see in Episode 1, which is how this theory is still continuity-compliant. It's also why the headset itself looks old.)

Now, one more thing: I don't think anyone in the circus can escape. I think they're actually trapped forever. And Jax knew this, too, hence his freakout upon arrival.

Why?

Well, another thing Gooseworx posted was a list of warnings about the show. One of them was "corpse portrayal."

Additionally, when answering an ask about whether the show was going to have any major blood/gore, they said: "do decaying dried out corpses count?"

(YES, GOOSE, THEY DO.)

And I'm pretty sure we're all thinking the same thing.

Those corpses are the bodies of the circus members.

Entering the Amazing Digital Circus transfers a person's mind and consciousness into the digital realm. How could a body survive that? Be real here!

So, Pomni is dead. Jax is dead. Zooble and Gangle and Ragatha and Kinger and Kaufmo and Queenie and all the others whose names we don't know - they're all dead and decaying.

Which means, how can their consciousnesses escape the computer when they don't have a body to go back to?

And if putting on the headset really is a death sentence, then hoooo boy... Getting people to put it on even when you know they're doomed would be a pretty unforgivable thing to do, eh?

So, to summarize:

-Everyone in the circus is DEAD.

-Jax is the one responsible for everyone (except Pomni) being stuck in the Circus and therefore dying.

-We're going to see their bodies. They probably all got thrown in a cellar somewhere by C&A to hide the evidence. A fitting parallel to the Abstraction Cellar.

I sure hope I'm wrong, but I can't find any evidence against this so far.

Where do they sleep, eat, ect? ( the amazing digital fun park)

There really isn't a sleeping quarters for the characters, in fact hardly anywhere is safe to rest because of the abstracted roaming around. Unlike in The Amazing Digital Circus, the characters actually NEED to sleep, eat, all the basics of surviving because if they don't, they'll lose energy. Unfortunately you can't die of hunger or dehydration, only by the abstracted.

The best way to get some sleep is finding somewhere that's enclosed which can be very uncomfortable. Or, you can find somewhere high to sleep on like the ferris wheel or on top of a roller coaster but that has its risk as well: there's a day and night sequence, during late hours all the rides stop and have to be turned on manually to get them to work. If you're sleeping on top of a ride and the sun begins coming up, if you don't get off in time the ride will automatically start. In the daytime, all rides have their sequences. For example; a rollercoaster will start automatically then ends. An hour later, it will start again. Besides all this, the cast can sleep anywhere.

Now for eating, there's tons of stalls and restaurants scattered around the park. Luckily all the food is fresh in them. Every passing day, the food stock restarts so they won't run out. Food is one of the easiest to get ahold of.

The Amazing Digital Circus Theory: Nothing is Real

I just watched (and rewatched) The Amazing Digital Circus and I absolutely love it, especially with the music. Pomni is my favourite anxiety-filled jester, Kingster is the most relatable character there is, Gangle is precious and should be protected, Jax is literally just the classic yellow-gloved Bugs Bunny, and Ragatha is the nicest person in the cast. Oh, and there's also Caine and Bubble, the beloved showman duo.

I don't really know anything about it outside of the pilot but I still want to put my two cents in the whole theory thing. A-hem! So, the theory goes:

The cast isn't trapped in this digital world; they're DIGITAL COPIES of the original persons.

In September 2015, a science fiction survival horror game was released, titled "SOMA". The game is about a man named Simon Jarrett who, after doing an experimental brain scan to help with his brain damage, was transported to a futuristic underwater lab that is completely taken over by a rouge AI known as the WAU.

Spoiler alert! This game deals with the concept of consciousness as well as the Ship of Theseus, except there's no real body. See, the big plot reveal in the game was that Simon wasn't transported to the future at all; the Simon we've been playing as was really a personality copy of the original Simon, which became the basis of AI technology. The real human Simon lived the rest of his days as usual and eventually died from his brain injury. This plot point about not being the real Simon was not only brought up once, nor twice, but THREE TIMES, each more devastating than the last.

What's happening in the Amazing Digital Circus is something like that. Pomni stated that she wore a headset and was suddenly transported here. But what if that's not true? What if Pomni is actually a digital copy of the real human Pomni (who's name we don't know)? What if that's the case for all of them, minus Caine and Bubbles who are more likely to be true AI made to help them and keep them sane?

This is why none of them can't escape. Because there's no such thing. They're not trapped in this circus purgatory; it's literally the only place they can exist. The real human selves are probably unaware at all. Real-life Pomni probably was playing a game and is now having dinner with her family, blissfully unaware that her personality had been copypasted into The Amazing Digital Circus. Turning into an Abstract is just what happens when their data becomes corrupted, which is exacerbated from insanity. Keeping sane means their data stays clean, or maybe their data becoming corrupted is what makes them insane and Abstracted. The chicken or the egg?

Calling it now; if this theory is true, then Pomni will learn that she herself is not real and this could cause other characters becoming Abstracted, maybe even herself. It could lead to them figuring out how to undo Abstracts, or at least destroy them completely, giving them a way out (through deletion).

As for why their personalities were copied and put into this place... Who knows? It could be an experiment performed by the C&A company, or it could be a glitch in the matrix that became self-aware and isn't big enough of a deal to be dealt with, like an old defunct project.

Man, I am so looking forward to Ep1 :D

Emotional Support (Pomni)

"Kid, you know you don't have to follow me everywhere right?'

"W-well listen! You have been the longest without going insane right?! Maybe you know how to, you know. Get out of here!?"

You can't help but let out a sigh as the jester continues to follow you through the circus, it's been barely a day, at least that's what you think how long it has been since the newest cast was brought here. Time is a pain to tell no thanks to the two celestial beings outside constantly visible yet Pomni has already shown signs of going insane, which is far from good because 1. it's not fun nor healthy and 2. she'll be abstracted and the last thing you want is another encounter with those creatures.

Yet after finding out that you have been here the longest, supposedly after Caine told her that you were the 'oldest cast to survive' (which could honestly mean anything at this point) and still be sane despite your time here and thus, you often find yourself answering the jester's questions but even then it can get rather repetitive.

"Look kid, all I know that those that try to find the exit are bound to be insane and trust me, the main goal of everyone here is to stay sane"

"..."

Your answer got no reaction from the Jester as you turn and see her pupils turn into black scribbles as she stares down at the floor.

"Not again, Pomni?"

Your question was met with silence as you turn to face her and pat her on top of her, which seems to work in bringing her back to earth (Or the digital world, is this even earth?) as her pupils turn back to normal as she stares at you.

"Pomni, I know adjusting here can be hard and after all that stuff that happened on your first day, I can imagine you are still in shock and denial but trust me, we'll all get through this no matter what, m'kay?"

Pomni looks down at the floor at first, as if thinking about your words before she looks back at you and nodded, a nervous smile on her face.

"Y-yeah, I guess.."

"Eh, close enough and now let's go, The last thing I want is Caine to appear and make us hurry up"

Out of habit, you gently grab her hand and begin leading her to the main stage, She follows behind with a small blush as she held your hand. She is still determined to find the exit even if she does go insane after experiencing the void the first time.

But maybe you experience here can help her to her goal and keep her in check after all, you were the few completely sane person she could trust with Ragatha but she definitely trust you just a bit more as you often took the time no matter how repetitive and annoying her questions may be to answer them, Yeah. Maybe staying in this hellhole will be much more survivable with you around.

A/N: Hello! This is my first time releasing something I wrote to public sight, so I'm pretty nervous haha. I am also not really sure about how to tag this, since I never used Tumblr for doing a post for my writing, so if there is a tag I should use, or anything else I should do, please tell me! Or even just a typo! I may be cringe but I am free. I will avoid using the general tags such as "tadc" and "the amazing digital circus" to avoid flooding the screen with a wall of text nobody asked for lmao.

Chapter one: Pondering

Another day at the circus, Caine thought. Another artificial morning in this simulation of a dreamy, digital-life, he thought, if AIs can think like people. Well, Caine could. He is, after all, probably the most advanced technology in the world. What can't he achieve in his little world of his?

Naturally, understand humans. Flesh beings work different, an incomprehensible algorithm, an enigma he can't solve, yet has to try. And so, another morning comes, and the circus keeps existing, with him inside, and everyone trapped.

What is it that keeps calling for them in the world behind the screen? What is it that makes them prefer a limited world to his circus? Is there something that can't be emulated? There must be, this world is utopic! But, why does everyone feel this dread inside this place? What is it that calls them and makes them want to go home? Oh, that bastard attachment, that ridiculous desire that drives them insane, that can't let them accept this world as theirs! It hurts them, it kills them, it destroys them! And yet they keep coming back to it, they can't let it leave, they must come back to where they once where. But why? Neither of them seems to know why! It's there, and it ends them before they can end it, no matter how much he tries to help!

What is that tie, stronger than their own creations?

Something intrinsic to humanity is what they have, something that he can't comprehend, something that will always call back for them. Foreign, dangerous, but at the end of the day, human. Human in a way he can't comprehend, human in a way he isn't, human in a way...

...

He looked through the window: the sun was there. Even though days don't actually exist, it is still there, smiling and bright. He doesn't remember creating it. If he is not mistaken, the sun has always been there. The moon has too, and Circus itself. He just knows he has a purpose. Everything he created after that is in order to achieve it.

Purpose...

What is the human purpose? Do they have one? He just knows they must survive in there the most time possible, but... What is a human purpose? Do they have one? Are they designated with one? Like him? No, they are the ones that give everything a purpose! They give purpose to sleeping in a world where they do not need it! They give purpose to the adventures! They give purpose to the circus!

Purpose... A purpose, that's all that he needs to find for them. But how can he give them a purpose, him not being human himself?

Ha, he is just running in circles, isn't he? This all come back to one thing. He can't comprehend them, and never will. Must he still keep trying? He fails his own purpose, again and again. Maybe he should be part of Kinger's bug collection. He will just keep failing to succeed at what he is made for. Maybe he and them are alike, after all. Hah.

"Maybe we will all perish after all!" Caine said out loud.

"Caine??? Are.. Are you okay??!" A voice said, with audible concern.

He looked back. It was the newest addition to the circus. Pomni.

Murder Drones (Animated series) Murder Drones has recently gained popularity, but is still a small project. You find it on youtube. On a post-apocalyptic exoplanet, worker drones struggle to survive by hiding from rogue robots called Murder Drones

Epithet Erased (Animated series - book) you can find the first 7 episode Animated on YouTube! Season 2, however, Is a book. based on the tabletop roleplay series Anime Campaign! With unique powers called epithets, and characters attempting to steal an amulet rumored to have the ability to take a person's epithet.

Hear me out as I go all Game Theory about The Amazing Digital Circus

I think Jax's name was randomly generated like Pomni, but came out with redundant letters (like Jjaxx, or similar). He's irreverent or apathetic enough to not give a rats ass about something like that, and he's the only (preexisting and surviving) performer whose name doesn't fit their body.

However, Caine's name is also 5 letters and doesn't match his body, but I highly doubt it's randomly generated. He's a different type of being from the rest of them, probably either the first or the second to inhabit the Circus. Plus, his name's too deliberate. Being an absentminded creator god, he's most likely C of C&A fame (the Cain and Abel connection is not lost on me)

Returning to the clown and the rabbit, notice who got turned into marketable plushies. Obviously the main character, but Jax too. The actual reason is of course he was projected to get the most sales (and they're probably right), but that's the doylist explanation. I'm not satisfied with that. I think they're trying to draw a connection between Pomni and Jax, that they're special somehow.

Well, Pomni can see Caine's unfinished work (the exit doors), but what's Jax's deal? The master key. Having something you're not supposed to, in a world where the guy in charge can just say "my key is missing" and magically float it to him from wherever it is, is a feat, unless Caine was letting him keep it. I don't actually think the key will be that important, except in that it lets Jax go where others can't, but even that means Jax is privy to information and resources others aren't.

I think they're setting up an "I used to be just like you" plot with Jax and Pomni. I think Caine may have betrayed A of C&A, and ran the company to the ground, and he might be trapped inside the circus like the rest of them. Is Bubble an NPC or a former person? Much to be investigated.

First of all sooo excited for your blog! The one thing I don't like about digital circus is the complete and utter lack of Ragtha love! Lol

I know you said you prefer platonic relationships, and for my girl Ragatha, I think if her and Jax were secretly besties, it would add so much more to each other. Cause it means Jax does have a vulnerable side, and Ragtha has an unlikely ally perhasp willing to push things a little far for her.

Also just a personal headcannon since Ragthas been there the longest maybe she's actively helped some of the main cast figure out to cope and hold on to their sanity, because she did say their was still time to "fix" Kafmo. So that's implies someone can be brought back if their not completely constructed yet. I think there's so much potential in her doing that for Jax because their different morals and personality seems like the most interesting dynamic to me. Plus, gotta love that angst.

like don't get me wrong , she gets more attention than gangle and zooble ( who are also characters i'm fond of that i wish gets the same level of analysis as jax and kinger ) , but there's so much to pick apart and analyze with ragatha that someone has to take the mantle ^^

besides uurgh i may love jesterdoll but ragatha has so much potential for interesting dynamics , not just pomni ! like her being very compliant towards caine , how she might've helped zooble considering they were the newest before pomni , the history she might've had with kinger , how she's the most suitable to comfort gangle , and just !! her entire thing with jax !!

like i can see why they can be an interesting dynamic - they're like two sides of the same coin in a way ( both are secretly terrified out of their minds and hides it by either servicing people or pushing them away . do you see my vision ) . i personally see them as begrudging siblings - really dislike each other but most likely won't be able to live without the other

( also a part of that may not be fueled by how ragatha's heavily inspired by raggedy ann and that jax's voice is a raggedy andy impersonation ... )

i will admit it's a bit too early to draw a conclusion on what's going on between them though since gooseworx keeps reiterating that no one likes jax and that he's an irredeemable asshole - but i know their dynamic won't just be pure , mutual hate . i personally love the thought of them being the only one who truly understands the other despite the vitriol lol

also ! i've always thought of ragatha as the group meditator in a way ! in my head , she's the glue that helps hold the group together - i don't think the current cast will survive even a single hour without the only person who isn't panicky and/or irresponsible . i won't be surprised if she actually saved someone from near-abstraction !

though i don't think it's a role that's doing her any big favors . do you think anyone ever asks how she's doing ? (: //

Caine

Caine really really appreciates you. You keep people alive, AND you are someone who professionally knows about humans and how they work so you can teach him stuff. He's constantly asking you questions, and existing around you seeing how you act. Just since your arrival no one has abstracted, and the adventures and circus as a whole are much more hospitable. You truly are the person the circus needed to be, well to be ok. At least for now. But all these people's problems, this AI trying to learn about humans from you, the stress of the fact you're now in a digital world. It's a lot. You can save them, but no one is going to save you. And you just have to deal with that. This world needs you, and if you go. Then so does it.

Gangle

You helped Gangle with her insecurity and self worth. You got her to be more confident and stand up for herself. Something she honestly loves you for. So she asked you out, she just felt so cared for and loved around you. You said no cause you don't date your patients, she was hurt but didn't blame you. But she relapsed into old bad habits, this time without you to help her out of them. She started all together avoiding you. It was just hard to look you in the face when you know all her deepest secrets, and the fact that she has feelings for you. At first you made the circus easier, better even. Now you make it harder for her. And Gangle blames no one but herself for all that's happening to her. Even starts to feel like she deserves it. "If I don't deserve this, then why does this always happen."

Zooble

Zooble would probably hate you at first. You show up and start telling her everything she's doing wrong. That isn't actually what you do but that's what it feels like to her. When, or rather if she gives you a chance you could genuinely help her. She still wont be nice to the others or you, but you can help her out in the long run. At least not for a while. But you might make her able to make friends. Which at the moment she'll say she doesn't need others. But no one can survive alone forever. And despite that being what she wants and what she says, that still applies to her.

Kinger

Honestly weirdly enough you don't help Kinger. He may be seen as crazy but he's still alive, and he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He's lived in this world for so long and has found a way of life that works. He honestly doesn't need help, at least not while still in here. Once out in the real world he will though. He doesn't need help though. He just needs a friend. Someone to casually talk to. Someone to hang out with. Someone who wont call him crazy. And you're more then happy to be that friend. And because you aren't patient and doctor something could actually stem from that. If you both want that at least.

Ragatha

You two are a power duo here. You keep everyone ok, she helps out more as a low down friend type person, and you as a professional. You two alone keep the circus running and people alive. And despite how much Ragatha insists that she doesn't need help/sessions she does. She's a tough cookie and wont admit it, but you can still get through to her. Despite what she says she needs it. So keep working hard. All you need is her to trust you, and you to constantly pester her about it. And eventually she'll break and let you help her.

Jax

Jax is going to openly agree to getting your help. At first he just planned on using it as a way to mess with you. But then you actually made him realize a lot and actually start helping within not a lot of time passage. Then he started genuinely going to your sessions. And with enough time and hard work he turned into an amazing person to be around. He's still vulgar and often rude. But he doesn't bully anymore, and actually goes out of his way to make others days better. You know you two aren't related but you're proud of him. He made so much progress and genuinely improved. And sure you helped. But you can't improve unless you want to. So the fact that he made that much progress especially in such a short time shows that he isn't a horrible person, he just didn't know better.

Pomni

Thank f#$%. She needs this so badly. You help her out with her anxiety, a lot. You know this place isn't good but you help her get at least kind of used to it despite you getting here after her. She'll still look for an exit but she feels like it's actually possible now with your support. Before she was just frantic and panicking. But now it feels like a genuine and attainable goal. With time and effort she starts to calm down and feel, happy! Feel calm. It's a strange sensation to her, but not bad strange. And once she does calm down she starts really appreciating smaller things. "Like sure this place is a prison and I'm here unwillingly. But not much I can do about that. And it is really pretty outside today. And while I'm here I don't have to worry like back in the real world. Nothing is expected of me. All I have to do is just exist. I can do that."

(I enjoyed writing this. And will maybe expand upon this in the future. Maybe. I still have a whole lot of requests to get through.)
